Luna: Jeg vet. Jeg vet. Lucas: Perfect. Now, 'Do you know?' is vet du? Vet — know, du — you. Luna: Vet du? Vet du? Lucas: Exactly. And 'I don't know' is jeg vet ikke. Ikke means not. Luna: Jeg vet ikke. That's going to be handy. Jeg vet ikke. Lucas: For sure. Now let's put them together. Say you're looking for the station. You can ask: Vet du hvor stasjonen er? — Do you know where the station is? Luna: Vet du hvor stasjonen er? Vet du hvor stasjonen er? Lucas: Great. And if someone asks you, you might say: Jeg vet ikke. Or if you do know: Jeg vet. Jeg vet hvor stasjonen er. Luna: Jeg vet hvor stasjonen er. I know where the station is. Lucas: Exactly. So let's practice a mini dialogue. I'll ask you: Vet du hva klokka er? — Do you know what time it is? Luna: Hmm, jeg vet ikke. Sorry! Lucas: That's okay. Then I say: Jeg vet. Den er tre. — I know. It's three. Luna: Å, jeg vet nå! I know now. Can I ask you one? Vet du hvor biblioteket er? Lucas: Jeg vet. Det er ved parken. — I know. It's by the park. Luna: Nice.
