- 0:12- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 0:16- Here is today's prayer.
- 0:23- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 0:26- Rocha.
- 0:27- Today's prayer focus is
- 0:29- waiting on God's timing.
- 0:31- Scripture text comes from Psalms twenty seven fourteen
- 0:34- and says, wait for the Lord. Be strong
- 0:37- and take heart and wait for the Lord.
- 0:41- Now let's just be honest.
- 0:44- Waiting becomes especially
- 0:46- difficult
- 0:46- when we've already prayed.
- 0:50- And unfortunately,
- 0:52- we are challenged with wanting the answer the
- 0:56- day before yesterday
- 0:57- when God is just telling us to wait
- 1:00- until.
- 1:02- I mean,
- 1:03- we've prayed for the opportunity,
- 1:05- the healing,
- 1:07- relationship,
- 1:08- breakthrough,
- 1:10- the answer,
- 1:11- and yet nothing seems to be changing.
- 1:15- In fact, waiting can make us wonder whether
- 1:17- God even hurt us at all,
- 1:20- but
- 1:21- let me reassure you, he has.
- 1:24- But we often interpret delay as inactivity.
- 1:29- If we can't see movement, we assume nothing
- 1:31- is happening, which quite frankly and honestly couldn't
- 1:34- be farther from the truth.
- 1:37- But that's when we're tempted to force a
- 1:39- door, rush a decision, or create our own
- 1:42- answer.
- 1:45- What's important to remember, though,
- 1:48- is that god's silence
- 1:50- doesn't mean god's
- 1:52- absence.
- 1:53- I often use the example
- 1:55- of this as
- 1:57- the student and the teacher in the classroom.
- 2:01- Whenever the teacher gives a test,
- 2:05- he never
- 2:07- says anything. Why?
- 2:09- Because the student needs to be able to
- 2:12- concentrate
- 2:13- and figure out the answer to whatever the
- 2:17- problem is
- 2:18- on the test.
- 2:20- That does not mean that the teacher's not
- 2:23- present.
- 2:24- It just means that they are presenting
- 2:28- the room
- 2:29- for the student to process.
- 2:33- Waiting
- 2:35- prayer sounds different
- 2:37- from asking prayer.
- 2:40- So today's challenge is instead of
- 2:43- only saying God when,
- 2:47- try saying God how do you want me
- 2:49- to live while I wait?
- 2:53- After all, scripture does tell us to wait
- 2:55- until, whatever that until is, because God's more
- 2:59- concerned about
- 3:01- your character
- 3:02- than he is about your impatience.
- 3:05- Waiting isn't wasted time when God is developing
- 3:08- something in us while we're waiting for something
- 3:10- around us to change.
- 3:13- That being said,
- 3:15- let's take
- 3:16- all of our uncertainties
- 3:18- and our questions of why and when to
- 3:21- the throne.
- 3:23- Heavenly father, waiting is difficult when we don't
- 3:26- understand your timing.
- 3:29- Keep us from forcing what you haven't released.
- 3:33- Give us patience,
- 3:35- strengthen our faith,
- 3:36- and help us remain faithful in this season.
- 3:41- We intentionally
- 3:42- trust that you are working even when we
- 3:44- cannot see, and we will bless you in
- 3:46- Jesus' name.
- 3:48- Well,
- 3:49- if you're waiting on God, don't put your
- 3:52- entire life on hold.
- 3:55- Just remember
- 3:56- that he welcomes the conversation
- 3:59- and ask him what can I
- 4:02- be faithful with while I wait
- 4:06- and trust that he will answer?
- 4:09- If this encouraged you,
- 4:11- share it with someone who's
- 4:13- maybe in a waiting season also.
- 4:15- And remember,
- 4:17- waiting doesn't mean nothing is happening.
