- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balance Life Chiropractic. We're here with doctor Harley and we
- 0:04Speaker 1: are working our way down the spine. Last week we
- 0:07Speaker 1: talked about C three. Po that wasn't it. It was
- 0:09Speaker 1: C three, So C four.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Today we are talking about C four and not the explosives.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Might the energy drink sports drink, But.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I wonder if the energy sports drink has anything to
- 0:20Speaker 1: do with the C four on your neck? You think so, probably.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Not, not that I'm aware of.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Okay, Well, so what is this one? Because I know
- 0:27Speaker 1: everyone that we talk about there's something slightly different. What
- 0:29Speaker 1: are the slight variations for C four?
- 0:31Speaker 2: So this one, the areas it covers are the nose,
- 0:35Speaker 2: the lips, the mouth, and the station tubes, which are
- 0:37Speaker 2: the drainage tubes from our inner ear to the back
- 0:40Speaker 2: of our throat. And so we talked about ear problems
- 0:43Speaker 2: with C two. That one tends to be more of
- 0:45Speaker 2: the big shooter with that. The station tubes. Kind of
- 0:48Speaker 2: an interesting fact with those. When we're children, they actually
- 0:51Speaker 2: sit horizontal, so they're not very they don't drain very well,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and as we age they start to point downwards better.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So then we start draining. So that's why we feel
- 1:00Speaker 2: ear infections and kids because they just don't drain as
- 1:03Speaker 2: efficiently or as well as the adult station tubes do.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So that's why we can kind of grow out of
- 1:07Speaker 1: that phase for.
- 1:08Speaker 2: The most party. I mean, you can still get ear
- 1:10Speaker 2: infections as an adult, it's just way less common. Some
- 1:13Speaker 2: other issues that can be affected by a C four
- 1:17Speaker 2: misalignment can be hay fever, inflammation of like the membranes
- 1:20Speaker 2: meaning the linings like the back of the throat, the nose,
- 1:23Speaker 2: like all your soft tissues in there, hearing issues, and adenoids,
- 1:27Speaker 2: which would be your tonsiles, gotcha.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So there's a lot of things when we're talking about
- 1:33Speaker 1: just this one vertebrate C four, Why is this one
- 1:37Speaker 1: kind of like is this a major one or is
- 1:40Speaker 1: it not necessarily major? Because it seems like there's a
- 1:42Speaker 1: lot going on in this particularly.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Your big shooters usually are C one, C two, five,
- 1:47Speaker 2: and seven tend to be more of the ones that
- 1:49Speaker 2: we see. So we're receiving more next week, right. I Mean,
- 1:53Speaker 2: all of them do interconnect with each other, so even
- 1:55Speaker 2: if there's if that one's not specifically out of alignment,
- 1:58Speaker 2: but the ones around it are that's still going to
- 2:00Speaker 2: inflammation in that areas going to affect how it's moving
- 2:03Speaker 2: as well. As we're getting into the area in the
- 2:05Speaker 2: lower part of the neck, that starts making up what
- 2:07Speaker 2: we call the brach heal plexus. So that is a
- 2:10Speaker 2: big group of nerves that run down underneath your shoulder,
- 2:13Speaker 2: underneath your clavicle, underneath you know, or collarbone, down into
- 2:18Speaker 2: our hands, so we can start seeing more numbness in
- 2:21Speaker 2: the hands. C four starts making up more of the
- 2:23Speaker 2: radial nerve, the median nerve, and those the radial is
- 2:26Speaker 2: like the first two fingers in our hand. Median nerve
- 2:29Speaker 2: tends to be kind of the middle part of our hand.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And then we'll talk about more of the alner nerve
- 2:33Speaker 2: as we get down into six and seven. Those are
- 2:35Speaker 2: more on the back, the bottom part of your hand,
- 2:37Speaker 2: more towards your pinky.
- 2:38Speaker 1: That's what we call a preview, folks. So we're on
- 2:40Speaker 1: C four this week and again nose, lips, mouth, and
- 2:44Speaker 1: U station tubes. I've heard that before. I didn't know
- 2:47Speaker 1: what I thought that was something only women had, but
- 2:49Speaker 1: we all have those.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You're thinking of something different that's different toobes all together.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So again if this is something that somebody struggles with,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and whether it's hay fever issues or maybe there's a
- 2:59Speaker 1: hearing issue and they come in. They don't have to
- 3:01Speaker 1: come in and say, I need you to adjust my
- 3:03Speaker 1: C four. If they just tell you what's wrong, you
- 3:04Speaker 1: can kind of help guide them through it, right correct.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you might be like, oh, it's it's definitely this
- 3:08Speaker 2: one of these are the symptoms that I have. But
- 3:09Speaker 2: they're all remember they're all interconnected, so it very much
- 3:12Speaker 2: could be somewhere else that's causing inflammation into that C
- 3:15Speaker 2: four area that isn't affecting that nerve. So yeah, when
- 3:19Speaker 2: you come in, we will assess your nervous system, assess
- 3:21Speaker 2: your spine to figure out really where the cause of
- 3:23Speaker 2: the problems coming from. We don't just chase pain, and
- 3:26Speaker 2: we were talking a lot about pain and symptoms right now,
- 3:28Speaker 2: but we focus on what the underlying cause is really
- 3:31Speaker 2: coming from.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And I remember when I was a kid, it was
- 3:33Speaker 1: like the C four is connected to the C five.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I don't think that's what the song was, but maybe
- 3:37Speaker 1: not quite, but they are all connected. I think there's
- 3:39Speaker 1: like a hip bone and the knee bone or actually
- 3:40Speaker 1: I don't think those two are connected. Let's you don't
- 3:42Speaker 1: have a femur. If somebody listening is going, hey, I
- 3:45Speaker 1: would like some help, I definitely want it from doctor Harley,
- 3:47Speaker 1: not from John He's an idiot. If they want to
