Transcript
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Deximal Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Duval Daily, President by Jim Jagg.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga, thanks so much for being here.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Thursday, January 15th, really interesting topic here.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: An idea posed by Ryan O'Hallerin and a column yesterday.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: Ryan O'Halloron, Florida Time, Jr. in Jacksonville.com does a great job covering the jackwars basically like beat reporter, analyst, columnist, all these things.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't always agree with everything that every analyst or NFL reporter.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: puts out there that I like.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm a huge fan of Ryan and a lot of people.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't always agree with everything.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're talking about if I agree with this big idea posed by Ryan O'Hallerin.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that idea is maxed to jacks.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: Max, cross, be to the jacks and build jag wars.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: That would be quite the site.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna dive into it.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out jingjag.com, pick up some new dov all gear, help support the channel, look good while doing it.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of different parts, puzzle pieces to this.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: So Rhino Hallern is proposing.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's trade, they're 2027 and 2028, first round picks, in exchange,
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: for Max Crosby, but not only this first round picks, also the first third round pick of the 2026 draft.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: So you're giving up 2026, third rounder, which I believe is like around 81 or something like that right now.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: And two first round picks in the future, 2027 and 2028.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: That would mean that James Ladson and the Jacksonville Jaguars would effectively,
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: on the books not have a first round pick from 2026 to 2027 to 2028 three years in a row.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: That would be bold and James Gladstone has promised that when there's an opportunity to be bold to improve this football team, the Jaguars won't flinch and you've seen that multiple times, you saw it with the trade for Travis Hunter.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: You saw it with the trade for Jacobi Mars.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: You saw it with extending Jacobi Mars and Colvin Lannon.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to be afraid to move on and try to improve this team.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and by the way, did I mention Trayvon Walker?
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's part of the deal, too.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: have to be completely honest.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: Does it take that much?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Could it potentially just be done with first two, excuse me, two first and a third?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it would take.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like that.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, O'Hallerin said this would be his starting offer.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's where you can start.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's where I would start.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe if they ask about Trayvon, there's also the financial side of it, right?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: You have Josh Hines Allen, very expensive.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Trayvon Walker, after 2025, if you keep him around, is going to be very, very expensive.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously Max Crosby, very expensive.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: think he's getting about 30 around 35 per year.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Look up his contract.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars obviously have the ability to convert cap to signing bonus void years.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: They can do a lot to mitigate the impact of Max Crossbees
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: contract, but at the same time, I do understand the idea that having three defensive ends that would be in that stratosphere of contract, you know, if you included Trable and Walker still being on the team, could be a difficult situation.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, his average is 35.5 million per year.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Under contract, through 2029, on the field, what I'd be willing to give up all that.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough, but you've seen James Gladstone where he was employed every year of his NFL
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen that regime do this exact thing.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think they didn't have a first round pick for like a ridiculous amount of years.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: And yet, they were one of the most competitive franchises in football and they want a Super Bowl in large part to a trade that they made with the Jacksonville Jack Wars, to acquire jail and Ramsay.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: He was a big part of that, no question.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, they also did hit on a Hall of Fame first round pick.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the best defensive tackle ever.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: While back was that 2013 or something like that.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: But That would be it's so hard to even wrap your mind around a pick that big or a trade that big.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: And so That's what makes it like Difficult to even analyze.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, you're not just losing trade on, you're not just losing one first round pick, you're not just losing two first round picks, you're not just losing the third one, you're losing all of that to get Max Crosby.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: And now Max Crosby, does he put you, the question is, does he put you in a Super Bowl window?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Could you be in a Super Bowl window without him?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think the answer to both of those things could be yes.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: And there's definitely an element of like, okay, if Max Crosby is on the field for all those snaps traybom walkers on the field, is your run defense just as good?
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's as good at setting it in same edge as traybom.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: But I think he is more than a good enough run defender to where you will
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Sacrifice Travelling Walkers run defending ability to add Max Crosby's past rushing ability.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's fair.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: I do, but you're not just giving up Travelling.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: You're giving up two first round picks in a third as well.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think Max Crosby would fit in really well in Jacksonville.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he loves ball.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely diabolical worker.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: really, really impressive player, him and Josh Hines Allen rushing off the edge, but I don't know how you make many other moves, free agent wise, besides this, besides like, you know, veteran minimum deals, which maybe that's all you do, Max Crosby.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: You'll let everybody else walk that's going to cost anything more than much more than a vet minimum, which includes Devon Lloyd, Travis C.T.M.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown, or maybe you get creative with some other players you have on your roster and you're able to keep one of those guys I just mentioned.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be fascinating.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest with you.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably not what I would do.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: I did a mock draft earlier today where we landed a keen measure door in the second round in a trade up out of Miami.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably prefer going that route being able to keep hopefully like a deven Lloyd and a buster brown.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably rather do that.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: I know this is a swing for the fences type of move, and if they executed this or something like this, I would not be mad about it.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Bringing Max Crosby to do all would be an incredible swing for the fences, a swing for a Super Bowl.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it would be.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be here for it, but I probably wouldn't do it.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Not because I'm scared, but just because I personally don't think it's the best utilization of assets that the Jaguar's have.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Personally, I don't, because I think, and a key mezzodore, plus a Devon Lloyd, plus a Buster Brown, plus being able to keep Trayvon Walker, I would rather have that than Max
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, let's not forget the two first round picks, and the third round pick.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Still know.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Again, if they do this, cause here's one thing I'll say, and I said it on Club Jaguar last night, I have a lot of confidence in the decision making within that building.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I have a lot of confidence that they are
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: Operating at a higher level than I can and I did not have confidence before James Lads Stone guy here in that but Crosby would be incredible.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't do it personally.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't be able to do it just because I would have confidence in my ability to draft To continue to elevate this football team through the draft and by keeping some of the players we have
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Theoretically, you could still get measured or in the draft with Crosby.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you get Hunter out there at corner.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: You have a shutdown corner.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: You have two big time ad pressures.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Be fascinating.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a real, it's a real,
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Conundrum for me, whether or not this is something I could do.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm working it out in real time with you all right now.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: But again, if they decide to do it, I'll be on board because I trust in them inside that building, I really do.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be more likely for them to try to get an impact past Russia in some other way.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: But hey, we've seen it from less need.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: say, after them picks, he's uniquely positioned to be able to execute something like that, based on his experience in LA.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what y'all think in the comments section below.
