Transcript
- 0:00Happy Wednesday morning. Everybody from Grand Cayman
- 0:05Islands got some big ships parked next to us, and there's
- 0:10the island right over there. It's always so beautiful.
- 0:16Boy, we got a special 1 today. I am with my friend Ed Balkovic.
- 0:23We're in his room. I said, Eddie, you want to do
- 0:26coffee with Kenny? And he said, come on, buddy,
- 0:29let's do it. So there's the legend.
- 0:32There's his wife. Look at there, Diane and Ed
- 0:36Balkovic, good friends of mine, Ed and Diane.
- 0:42Diane, when you get a chance, maybe shut that door.
- 0:44I don't want the. I don't want the.
- 0:46I don't want the. How you doing, sweetheart?
- 0:48Hey, how are you? Are you going on?
- 0:49Are you going on the island today?
- 0:51Yes, I am. We're going on the beach.
- 0:52All right, All right, here's my long time friend, the great Ed
- 0:58Balkovic, Eddie. Eddie got the sticker ready to
- 1:01go and. My Coffee with Kenny shirt.
- 1:03Oh, looky there. Hey, by the way, shop
- 1:07kennywallace.com is doing a hell of a business.
- 1:10Eddie, Are you ready to do coffee with Kenny?
- 1:13Yes, I am. Let's get right to it,
- 1:15everybody. All right?
- 1:17We got a lot to get to today. We're going to try to do it
- 1:19right and efficient. OK?
- 1:22Yesterday, Nas Court, that's what we're calling it, NASCAR,
- 1:27but they're in court. Get it?
- 1:28NASCART boy, Eddie, the big one to me right away was they showed
- 1:34Rick Hendrick wrote a letter to the owner of NASCAR.
- 1:38Rick Hendrick wrote a letter to Jim France.
- 1:40Did you read it? Nope, I didn't read it yet.
- 1:42Eddie, I love. I love it.
- 1:44Eddie, I love. You helped me advertise, OK?
- 1:47Rick Hendrick says. Mr. France, I admire you for
- 1:51what you've done for NASCAR. Your family's awesome.
- 1:54However, your business model right now is not sustainable.
- 2:00And we won two championships in five years and we lost $20
- 2:06million. And Eddie, this letter went on
- 2:11the the letter was rough because Rick Hendrick choose Jim Francis
- 2:15ass out the letters out there for everybody to see.
- 2:19It came out late last night and Rick, Rick Hendrick says, Jim, I
- 2:23don't like it that you are always on all of our asses that
- 2:28we don't do enough for NASCAR, he says.
- 2:31We tried to hold hold ourselves to the highest standards.
- 2:35Our drivers work hard for NASCAR, but you know, you need
- 2:41to quit roughing us up and we need to have a meeting and get
- 2:44together right now. And this letter, I paraphrase
- 2:48it, if this is on YouTube, you know, my Charlie model most
- 2:53likely is going to drop it right in.
- 2:54But Eddie Rick Hendrick says that in in five years they won
- 3:00two championships. I'm sure that was with Chase
- 3:03Elliott and would have been Kyle Larson.
- 3:08How would you like to won two NASCAR championships and lost
- 3:12$20 million? But as you always tell me,
- 3:15Kenny, money buys speed. It really does.
- 3:19And I guess 20 million buys a lot of speed.
- 3:21Well, you know, what happens is it's like father John said, you
- 3:24know, he said be careful competition to kill.
- 3:27You see, you know, Mr. H is there getting his ass beat by,
- 3:32you know, say Joe Gibbs race and it's it's a monkey see, monkey
- 3:35do business. But man, I'm I'm going to end
- 3:38this segment like this. I told all of you that Michael
- 3:43Jordan was only the scapegoat. I told you that.
- 3:47And now you see that Richard Schiller is pissed.
- 3:50He didn't want to sign it. And this letter comes out.
- 3:53So it's true. All the car owners just say
- 3:56we're tired of jagging with you and Michael Jordan went, I got
- 4:01y'all's back and they all decided to sign the charter.
- 4:06But boy, now it's coming out how bad all these car owners are
- 4:09upset with NASCAR. OK, so that read that letter out
- 4:14there. It is not a good letter.
- 4:15Rick Hendrick writes a scathing letter to NASCAR and literally
- 4:19lights into Jim France. And but at the end of the
- 4:21letter, it's like, hey, we can be friends.
- 4:23Let's get together. Richard Childress owns 60% of
- 4:29Richard Childress Racing. I always knew this and that.
- 4:32It's not a surprise, Eddie, because Roush, you know, it's
- 4:35Roush Fenway, Keselowski. But anyway, Richard gets pissed
- 4:41on the stand because NASCAR found out that Richard about 8
- 4:46months ago tried to sell part of his team to Bobby Ellen.
- 4:51Now Richard's pissed because he signed a non disclosure.
- 4:54In other words, nobody should have known.
- 4:57So Richard Silverstone, his executives are on NASCAR's butt
- 5:00right now. Wanted to know how did you find
- 5:04out about this? And I think Judge Bell and them
- 5:07are looking into is what NASCAR did bring up a non disclosure.
- 5:13In other words, non NDANDA means nobody should talk about this.
- 5:18If you talk about it, you're going to jail.
- 5:20So we'll see how that turns out. But Richard Childers and his
- 5:26boys, they're mad that NASCAR brought that up.
- 5:29But the deal died. Bobby Hillen didn't have enough
- 5:32money. What do you think of that one?
- 5:36Never know. Yeah, yeah, you never know, but
- 5:39Richard was A's age. Or you always told me you never
- 5:43know until the check clears. Yeah, right.
- 5:45Yeah, I I think it's sold, but the check hasn't cleared yet.
- 5:49So Richard Childress is mad at NASCAR because they brought up
- 5:53something they shouldn't have brought up.
- 5:54It was an NDA. I mean, what happened there?
- 5:57You know, this one, this one was pretty wild.
- 6:01You know, a lot of people say to me, Kenny, who'd even, Eddie,
- 6:06who do you think is winning this lawsuit?
- 6:08One of the biggest, biggest signs yesterday that really
- 6:12disappointed everybody in the media was Jim France, who owns
- 6:16NASCAR and Steve Phelps were on the stand.
- 6:20And Eddie, they must have said, I can't remember.
- 6:23I don't know. They must have said it 50 times.
- 6:28What does that tell you when the owner of NASCAR and the
- 6:31president say, I don't remember, I don't know.
- 6:34Why do they do that, Eddie? Selective memory.
- 6:38Say it again. Selective memory.
- 6:40Yeah, so all the media, you know, Bob Progress, Weaver,
- 6:46Gluck, they're all like, man, this ain't looking good.
- 6:49Now, that's not my words, but a lot of people are like, man,
- 6:52that ain't looking good for NASCAR.
- 6:53They, you know, I watched the tear down with Jeff Gluck and
- 6:58Bianchi and they said that don't look good on NASCAR.
- 7:01They're they're the leaders. There's nobody higher Jim France
- 7:05and and then I mean, it's their strategy, obviously that that's
- 7:10their strategy. But they said they spent the
- 7:14whole time going don't remember, don't know.
- 7:17All right. So I just told you, you know, we
- 7:21don't know what's going to happen.
- 7:22But it's not looking good for NASCAR right now because they
- 7:25don't know and they don't remember.
- 7:28My God, this was interesting. We decided to add this one on
- 7:34NASCAR. Attorneys asked Steve Phelps or
- 7:39no, I think. I think it was Jeffrey Kessler
- 7:42with Michael Jordan. They said Steve Phelps, why did
- 7:46Furniture Row and owner Barney Vister, why did they shut down?
- 7:51Phelps said that Furniture Row Racing, when they won the
- 7:55championship with Martin Truex, spent $45,000,000 in one year.
- 8:04So Martin Truex, when he won that championship, they spent
- 8:06$45 million. Hey, that's a lot of money.
- 8:11Did you know I was their first driver?
- 8:13And I was always amazed. And I told Joe Garone, who ran
- 8:18furniture, I said Joe Barney got enough money to do this.
- 8:21He goes, oh, he's got plenty money.
- 8:24And they would spend all their money because because Barney
- 8:27Visser wanted to prove the world that they could do it out of
- 8:30Denver, Co. And so they had those furniture
- 8:34trucks going back and forth to North Carolina.
- 8:38I think they spent an extra 2,000,000 years.
- 8:40What Joe might have told me. Hey Joe, if you watch us respond
- 8:43right here, I think they spent $2,000,000 a year cars, motors
- 8:49in the furniture trucks going from Charlotte NC to Denver, Co
- 8:54all. Those mattresses for padding,
- 8:56all that equipment. Yeah, yeah, right.
- 8:59OK. So Ray Kendrick writes a tough
- 9:02letter and but he he I mean that it shocked the racing world.
- 9:06So I think in ending Eddie, NASCAR is not sustainable is
- 9:13what all the owners are saying. Richard Schilder said, the only
- 9:18reason I can afford to do this is because I make parts for the
- 9:21military and he says we build motors.
- 9:25They're all saying they lose money.
- 9:27Everybody's losing money and that this this new business
- 9:30model, hey, it it, it keeps getting more expensive.
- 9:34So we'll see what happens. All right, everybody, I'm sure
- 9:37you'll Charlie will drop that letter in here that Rick
- 9:40Hendrick, remember. What they say if you want to
- 9:42become a millionaire in racing, start out as a billionaire.
- 9:47Check him out. Ed Balkovic everybody.
- 9:49One of the greatest microbiologist in America.
- 9:53Say goodbye, Eddie. Goodbye all.
