Rabies is back in San Antonio — a pet dog became the first confirmed case in Bexar County in over 10 years after fighting a skunk, and the owner didn’t report it. Wild animal cases jumped 10x this summer, making exposure risk much higher. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal — so report wildlife encounters, keep pets vaccinated and leashed, and never touch wild animals.
