- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, jumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one
- 0:10Speaker 2: tackler cats inside the forty down of the thirty five
- 0:13Speaker 2: yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the end zone.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Michael Bumpers with a diving catching the end zone on
- 0:24Speaker 2: ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid out
- 0:27Speaker 2: of Washington State has found himself.
- 0:29Speaker 3: A place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Chovie.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:37Speaker 4: The Seahawks fall at home to the Rams twenty six
- 0:40Speaker 4: to twenty in a heartbreaker. We're broadcasting live from the
- 0:43Speaker 4: Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the official partner of
- 0:46Speaker 4: the Seattle Seahawks.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Bum Holy smoke, oh man, oh man. That was something.
- 0:52Speaker 3: It was. It was. I was rough, man.
- 0:53Speaker 5: It was a rollercoaster of emotions throughout that whole game.
- 0:58Speaker 5: Thankfully I didn't have to watch the game from the
- 1:00Speaker 5: press box. I was in a little booth that you
- 1:02Speaker 5: and the Seahawks took me and Brian waltsh is up
- 1:04Speaker 5: with and we can show some emotion. And I'm glad
- 1:06Speaker 5: because I needed to get that out, need to get
- 1:08Speaker 5: it out.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Well, what I was excited about is so I watched
- 1:11Speaker 4: the game from the broadcast booth with Rabel and the guys,
- 1:14Speaker 4: and typically where I stand during the game. If anytime
- 1:17Speaker 4: they want to show Ryan Grubb, yeah, I'm like in
- 1:20Speaker 4: the back shot of it, which is just tough for
- 1:22Speaker 4: me because I want I'm in the broadcast booth. I
- 1:24Speaker 4: can show emotions as well, but now I know that's there,
- 1:27Speaker 4: so I'm like, I can't and then but then you
- 1:28Speaker 4: forget the nice thing. This week Fox had a nice
- 1:31Speaker 4: tight shot on Grub, so I was out of the picture.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I could live my life nice. Good for you, I'm
- 1:36Speaker 3: happy for you.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I was trying to bump, but we'll get right into
- 1:40Speaker 4: it because what had happened, it was tough see what happened.
- 1:43Speaker 2: At first, what happened was what had happened was un
- 1:48Speaker 2: howked talk walking out of the booth at halftime, Bump
- 1:50Speaker 2: doing halftime show on the radio.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I was feeling pretty good, feeling dang good. I was.
- 1:55Speaker 4: And if you would have told me at that moment
- 1:56Speaker 4: that we'd be sitting here in this room together talking
- 1:59Speaker 4: about a Seahawks lot, I.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Would have called you crazy.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yeah, But I digress, because that's exactly where we are
- 2:04Speaker 4: and that's what we're doing. And it was hard, man,
- 2:06Speaker 4: because the Seahawks were the better team. They played better football,
- 2:09Speaker 4: they were they let this one get away from the unfortunately,
- 2:13Speaker 4: And obviously I think if you're in LA right now
- 2:15Speaker 4: and you're JB Long and you're doing a RAMS podcast,
- 2:17Speaker 4: you feel differently about the better team winning or not.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Oh I hit up JB too, okay, JP, JB man
- 2:23Speaker 5: that defensive line, he goes, yeah, making up for a
- 2:25Speaker 5: lot of stuff that's wrong with this team.
- 2:27Speaker 3: He was honest.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Yeah, And you know, so you can look at it
- 2:29Speaker 4: from different perspectives, but from our perspective, I think the
- 2:32Speaker 4: Seahawks definitely is the game they could have won, and
- 2:35Speaker 4: it definitely really hurt. And when this game got started,
- 2:37Speaker 4: there wasn't a lot offense get going. There was eight
- 2:39Speaker 4: punts in the first nine possessions, and the one possession
- 2:42Speaker 4: that didn't ended up punt, unfortunately, ended in an interception.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Geno was trying to find JSN after JSN made it
- 2:47Speaker 4: a hell of a play to play before breaking three
- 2:50Speaker 4: tackles on the little screen one he probably should have caught,
- 2:52Speaker 4: but I think it's safe to say he made up.
- 2:54Speaker 3: For that word a little bit, A little bit.
- 2:57Speaker 4: The Rams got on the board first eleven play forty
- 2:59Speaker 4: three yard drive with the Joshua Cardi field goal that
- 3:02Speaker 4: made the score three nothing.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Rams. Yep.
- 3:04Speaker 5: The Rams get up first, and then the Seahawks offense
- 3:06Speaker 5: would really get going in the first half. Gino would
- 3:09Speaker 5: cap a nine plays seventy yard drive with a thirty
- 3:11Speaker 5: yard touchdown to Tyler Locket. A nice little fade caught
- 3:14Speaker 5: him in the cover two loot boom right in the
- 3:16Speaker 5: honey hole. Jason Myers would miss the extra point thow,
- 3:18Speaker 5: so that made the lead six to three. On the
- 3:21Speaker 5: ensuing drive, Reek Woolen shows up intercepts Matthew Stafford on
- 3:25Speaker 5: the pass intended for Pooka. Natua Nicoua goes up and
- 3:28Speaker 5: grabs that thing out the air. Then the usually level.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Headed Pooka, he's a he's an island guy, you know
- 3:35Speaker 3: what I mean. I take everything easy.
- 3:37Speaker 5: My man throws a punch and hits Tyroll Dawson and
- 3:40Speaker 5: gets ejected from the game. Guys, kids, professionals, open your
- 3:44Speaker 5: hand if you're gonna do something like that that just
- 3:46Speaker 5: an open hand would have changed everything. But I'm glad
- 3:48Speaker 5: it was closed because Pooka got kicked out.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 4: That was one of the most shocking things that when
- 3:52Speaker 4: they are their officials were meeting, You're like, were they
- 3:53Speaker 4: talking about for so long?
- 3:55Speaker 3: And then they said show somebody.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I was like, that can't be Pooka man, No way,
- 3:58Speaker 4: most any interview ever heard anyone was talking to the
- 4:00Speaker 4: most chill dude, the most respectful dude.
- 4:03Speaker 5: Yep, hey, thanks got hot. I want to talk to Dotson.
- 4:05Speaker 5: What you say, Tobb? You just didn't block him, you
- 4:08Speaker 5: said something to him.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Oh well, if he got a jection for the game,
- 4:10Speaker 4: and that was a huge loss for the Rams because
- 4:12Speaker 4: we know how good he's been since he's made his return.
- 4:14Speaker 4: The Seahawks would take advantage a little later three plays
- 4:16Speaker 4: sixty yard drive ending in the twenty four yard touchdown
- 4:19Speaker 4: to j SN that made the score thirteen to three.
- 4:22Speaker 4: On that drive, there was four plays all intended to JXN.
- 4:25Speaker 4: He drew a PI in the first one, forty six
- 4:27Speaker 4: yard reception on second one incomplete and reeled in a
- 4:30Speaker 4: touchdown on the fourth. The Hawks will rote into halftime
- 4:33Speaker 4: with a ten point lead.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Bump. But man, that third quarter was not good for
- 4:36Speaker 3: the Hawks. Third quarter was all bad for the Hawks.
- 4:39Speaker 5: The Rams march right down and filled out the tunnel, saying, look,
- 4:41Speaker 5: we fixed some things. They go eleven plays, seventy five
- 4:43Speaker 5: yards and with a one yard touchdown to DeMarcus Robinson,
- 4:46Speaker 5: who's put together two really good weeks for the Rams.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Man that made the score thirteen to ten. The Hawks
- 4:51Speaker 5: will punt on the next drive, and the Rams would
- 4:53Speaker 5: put three more on the board after a twelve play
- 4:55Speaker 5: drive that tied it up at thirteen. The Seahawks suffered
- 4:58Speaker 5: from some questionable on the drive, including a roughing the
- 5:02Speaker 5: passer on d Honme third down. That was that was blowney,
- 5:06Speaker 5: okay it's and then it's Matthew Stafford selling it.
- 5:10Speaker 3: You gotta get what you can't.
- 5:11Speaker 5: I guess like I respect the gamesmanship, but I also
- 5:14Speaker 5: don't respect it because you know, dang well that batman
- 5:17Speaker 5: had a legal play on you. That one made me frustrated.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Well, it influenced it because when you lay down there
- 5:22Speaker 4: like your dad. It just it's a feel. And don't
- 5:25Speaker 4: get me wrong, I feel for the officials and how
- 5:27Speaker 4: hard this game is to officiate.
- 5:28Speaker 3: It's tough.
- 5:29Speaker 4: But that one just stuff, man, because the Seahawks every
- 5:31Speaker 4: time there's a big penalty, you feel like it's always
- 5:33Speaker 4: on third down and it's always and there.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Getting off the field and get your butt off the
- 5:36Speaker 3: dame turf.
- 5:37Speaker 5: Man, this wants to snatch him up there like your
- 5:39Speaker 5: kid throwing a tantrument in the market.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Man, get up off the dame floor. Man, what you're
- 5:42Speaker 3: doing brutal.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Granted, the Seahawks defense did come through get a stop
- 5:46Speaker 4: on that, you know, at least hold them out of
- 5:48Speaker 4: the end zone. On following possession of the Seahawks are
- 5:51Speaker 4: drive all the way down the field, but Gino was
- 5:53Speaker 4: hit and intercepted in the end zone. Cameron Kitchens ran
- 5:56Speaker 4: it back one hundred and three yards for a bushdown.
- 5:59Speaker 4: This one a big plays of the game, fourteen point swing.
- 6:01Speaker 4: You're thinking you're gonna get seven. The offense is kind
- 6:03Speaker 4: of getting back in the rhythm. It gets run back
- 6:05Speaker 4: for a touchdown. And this one's tough because Gina, we're
- 6:09Speaker 4: gonna talk about him specifically, he had three interceptions.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Again, it's another one of those games where they're not
- 6:14Speaker 3: all on him.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Yep, this one's a tough Maybe could have thrown the
- 6:17Speaker 4: ball away earlier.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Either way, he's eventually trying to get rid of the ball.
- 6:20Speaker 4: He gets hit, floats right to Kitchens and he runs
- 6:23Speaker 4: back one hundred three yards for a touchdown.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That's a huge, huge, huge play of.
- 6:27Speaker 5: The game, rookie making plays out their Kitchens goodness gracious.
- 6:30Speaker 5: After another seaalk pump, the Hawks defense would step up again,
- 6:33Speaker 5: getting a huge stop. Then Cody Wide would block a punt,
- 6:37Speaker 5: setting up the Seahawks offense in great field position. I
- 6:40Speaker 5: love when undrafted due drafted things. I love to see
- 6:43Speaker 5: eighty two out there doing it. The Seahawks would not
- 6:45Speaker 5: take advantage as Gino was picked off again by who
- 6:48Speaker 5: Kitchens after a mishold on a j barner. It was
- 6:52Speaker 5: definitely a hold. AJ could not get his left arm up.
- 6:56Speaker 5: The refs missed it. Like you said, it's hard to
- 6:58Speaker 5: officiate this game, but sometimes you just gotta look at
- 7:01Speaker 5: the way the body is responding and say something is up.
- 7:03Speaker 5: And then if you look at Fisk, who did the pulling,
- 7:06Speaker 5: he put his hands up. Yeah, you know, dang well,
- 7:07Speaker 5: will somebody put their hands up?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Guilty?
- 7:09Speaker 5: They did it. They were guilty, man. So that was
- 7:12Speaker 5: a tough one.
- 7:13Speaker 4: That would really hurts you because here again you have
- 7:15Speaker 4: a play. Usually when you block a punt in the
- 7:17Speaker 4: football game, make a play special teams like that that
- 7:20Speaker 4: impacts the game. He win the football game, yep, especially
- 7:22Speaker 4: when you get the ball deep in that territory that
- 7:24Speaker 4: the Seahawks just could not get it done. And it's
- 7:27Speaker 4: been the Achilles heal right now, it's been before this
- 7:29Speaker 4: week goes run defense. The last two weeks, it's been
- 7:31Speaker 4: the red zone. The Seahawks could not convert the next
- 7:34Speaker 4: three possessions with ending punt in the Seahawks will get
- 7:36Speaker 4: the ball back down seven with one to fifty four
- 7:38Speaker 4: in the game. So things have gone bad. Things have
- 7:40Speaker 4: gone bad. In the third quarter of the Seahawks were
- 7:42Speaker 4: only ran a couple of plays. It's as bad as
- 7:44Speaker 4: can be. And for all the arrows that number seven
- 7:47Speaker 4: is taken today he leads them down in a drive.
- 7:51Speaker 4: He connects with JSN on a fourth and five season
- 7:54Speaker 4: on the line. Earlier, he hooks up with Cody White
- 7:57Speaker 4: doing all he can twenty nine yard game. Then the
- 7:58Speaker 4: falling play finds a send for a fourteen yard touchdown,
- 8:01Speaker 4: which we'll talk about later. That tied the score up
- 8:03Speaker 4: in twenty. That game was done. He gets sacked on
- 8:05Speaker 4: the first play of that drive. Yeah, and it's again
- 8:08Speaker 4: second and thirty. Whatever it was. But the poise and
- 8:12Speaker 4: the leadership of Gina Smith gets in back to the
- 8:14Speaker 4: football game. Everyone continue to believe that tied the score
- 8:16Speaker 4: over twenty.
- 8:17Speaker 5: That tied in the Seahows defense would force a punt,
- 8:19Speaker 5: setting up overtime. The Hawks won the toss, they take
- 8:23Speaker 5: the ball, they go all the way down to the
- 8:24Speaker 5: Rams sixteen yard line, but the Hawks will get stopped
- 8:27Speaker 5: on third and one in fourth and one, turning the
- 8:30Speaker 5: football over. I've had many conversations today about what you
- 8:33Speaker 5: should do in that situation. The analytics say, look, you're
- 8:36Speaker 5: supposed to go for it. The reality says, look, maybe
- 8:40Speaker 5: your offensive line isn't ready for this.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Whatever the situation may be.
- 8:44Speaker 5: I'm going with Mike McDonald and Grubb and what they
- 8:45Speaker 5: feel is right in that situation. So I wasn't mad
- 8:48Speaker 5: at the decision to go forward. But when you do
- 8:52Speaker 5: roll the dice like that, there's only two outcomes. Either
- 8:55Speaker 5: you look great, are people going to question you? Unfortunately
- 8:58Speaker 5: it was on the negative side of the things.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Yeah, no, And I think the funny thing is it's
- 9:02Speaker 4: like it's such a dune if if you don't get it,
- 9:04Speaker 4: you're wrong either way, right, because everyone who's clamoring you
- 9:07Speaker 4: for to not go for it would have been upset
- 9:09Speaker 4: if you kick the field goal and the Rams take
- 9:11Speaker 4: the ball, go.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Score a touchdown, and they'd be like, what are you doing?
- 9:13Speaker 3: Do an opportunity to win the game.
- 9:14Speaker 4: So it's one of those things when it doesn't go
- 9:16Speaker 4: your way, it looks bad and it's an execution thing.
- 9:18Speaker 4: They coach McDonald spoke about it today in this press conference.
- 9:21Speaker 4: They were kind of figuring it out in the run game.
- 9:23Speaker 4: So for as much struggles as they had early in
- 9:25Speaker 4: the game offensively, especially up front, they were ken walk
- 9:28Speaker 4: were starting to get five, six, seven, eight, there's a
- 9:30Speaker 4: couple of big pushes. They're down inside the sixteen. You
- 9:32Speaker 4: think Bray talked about this last night too. Any offensive
- 9:36Speaker 4: line at any level, especially Nashville Ball League, thinks they
- 9:38Speaker 4: can get a yard oh yeah for show, and they
- 9:41Speaker 4: just didn't execute the way too.
- 9:43Speaker 3: There's a six yard game that drive.
- 9:44Speaker 5: There's a hay yard game that drive on the ground,
- 9:46Speaker 5: so you feel like there's some rhythm going with the
- 9:49Speaker 5: run game.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Again, I do not question the call.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Rams get the ball. They're not going to look back.
- 9:54Speaker 4: There was a big play in that drive. I think
- 9:56Speaker 4: it was the first play. Looks like Reek Woln's about
- 9:58Speaker 4: to get an interception. He kind of jumps and kind
- 10:01Speaker 4: of awkwardly times it. Of course, he doesn't have the
- 10:03Speaker 4: field view. He's looking at the football, he doesn't see
- 10:06Speaker 4: the Rams receiver running underneath it. He thinks it's going
- 10:09Speaker 4: to be an easy interception. Unfortunately he couldn't get that.
- 10:11Speaker 4: He would have loved I'm sure if you talk to
- 10:13Speaker 4: him that he would have loved to attack that ball
- 10:14Speaker 4: because he knows about that like he did in the
- 10:16Speaker 4: first interception. And unfortunately he doesn't make that play. The Rams.
- 10:21Speaker 4: There's a PI on him on that play and then
- 10:23Speaker 4: or the next play, and then a couple of plays later,
- 10:26Speaker 4: DeMarcus Robinson makes a thirty nine yard touchdown to seal
- 10:29Speaker 4: the game.
- 10:30Speaker 3: One handed plays an one hell of.
- 10:31Speaker 4: A catch, hell of a catch and on that one
- 10:34Speaker 4: you just got to tip your cap.
- 10:35Speaker 3: But at the end of the day.
- 10:36Speaker 4: The Seahawks had way many more opportunity before he even
- 10:39Speaker 4: came down to whether or not tarigul And intercepted that
- 10:42Speaker 4: ball in overtime. They just couldn't get it done. They
- 10:44Speaker 4: didn't execute when they needed to, and it's a tough
- 10:46Speaker 4: loss for him.
- 10:47Speaker 5: No, it's never one play, there's never one situation, multiple things.
- 10:50Speaker 5: But the Rams, excuse me. The Seahawks played good. They
- 10:53Speaker 5: outgained the Rams four twenty four to three sixty six.
- 10:56Speaker 5: They out rushed him one o seven is sixty eight,
- 10:58Speaker 5: but they lost to turn up about we all know
- 11:00Speaker 5: how important that is. And we're four for fifteen on
- 11:02Speaker 5: third down the last two games, or twenty seven percent
- 11:05Speaker 5: on third downs.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Man, you gotta fix that. Yeah, third downs will kill you.
- 11:07Speaker 4: And the thing that's been frustrating, and I've been saying
- 11:10Speaker 4: this since the clock struck triple zeros after the game,
- 11:14Speaker 4: the Seahawks should have left yesterday with the story being
- 11:17Speaker 4: about how good this defense looked, Yeah, stopping the run,
- 11:21Speaker 4: how good Jackson, Smith and Jabo looked were about to
- 11:23Speaker 4: talk about in a second record breaking performance, and then
- 11:28Speaker 4: how good guys like Cody White coming in there, stepping
- 11:30Speaker 4: up and getting this thing done so really frustrating, I'm
- 11:33Speaker 4: sure for everyone yesterday because we should be talking a
- 11:37Speaker 4: completely different story. But unfortunately the Hawks could not get
- 11:39Speaker 4: it done. Heading into the bye week four and five.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Here's the positive side, a lot of season left. It
- 11:46Speaker 4: might look very gloom and doom when you lose five
- 11:47Speaker 4: to six games, but the Seahawks are still right in
- 11:50Speaker 4: the NFC West. No one's run away with it. If
- 11:53Speaker 4: we were in the division with the Lions, I'd be concerned,
- 11:55Speaker 4: be a little different, little concerned. But a lot of
- 11:57Speaker 4: season left. The big week of preparation is even get
- 11:59Speaker 4: over this. But nonetheless, Yawks fall the four in five
- 12:03Speaker 4: in our last place in the NFC West.
- 12:05Speaker 3: But yesterday there were a lot of plays made. Playmakers touch.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Playmakers.
- 12:14Speaker 2: What time it is?
- 12:16Speaker 5: Holy?
- 12:20Speaker 3: All right? First one, Geno Smith, He's.
- 12:22Speaker 5: Gonna catch a lot of he He's gonna catch a
- 12:24Speaker 5: lot of He three turnovers, okay, but he was twenty
- 12:27Speaker 5: one to thirty four, three hundred and sixty three yards,
- 12:29Speaker 5: three touchdowns and like I mentioned, three interceptions, a QB
- 12:32Speaker 5: rating of ninety point seven. Gino is now tied with
- 12:35Speaker 5: math Feugh Hassleback for second place for the most three
- 12:39Speaker 5: hundred yard games in a single season in franchise history
- 12:42Speaker 5: with four.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Gino had some.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Mistakes, had some help with those mistakes, but also kept
- 12:47Speaker 5: you in the game no timeouts, left less than two
- 12:50Speaker 5: minutes left on the clock, fourth and five converting to
- 12:53Speaker 5: JSN getting in the end zone. He even got Cody
- 12:56Speaker 5: White involved in again. Yeah, nice touch, nice touch over
- 13:00Speaker 5: the top of me. Gino played a good game for
- 13:01Speaker 5: the most part. But obviously you look at those three
- 13:03Speaker 5: interceptions and you have some concerns. Definitely needs to take
- 13:06Speaker 5: care of the football, but you're not in this game
- 13:09Speaker 5: without the performance of Gino Smith.
- 13:11Speaker 4: And the thing, I told you this last night, and
- 13:14Speaker 4: I really wish I want everyone I'm gonnaok at the camera.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I want everyone to really hear me when I say this.
- 13:20Speaker 4: People need to be able to separate a bad play
- 13:23Speaker 4: here and there from being a bad player. It just
- 13:26Speaker 4: makes no sense. But a bad play does not make
- 13:29Speaker 4: you a bad player. That doesn't discount everything you've done.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Sometimes your bad plays outweigh the good or vice versa. Right,
- 13:35Speaker 4: but there's got to be some kind of separation. He
- 13:38Speaker 4: makes a bad play and we're gonna take away everything
- 13:40Speaker 4: good he's done. And and like you just said, in
- 13:42Speaker 4: that game, after everything that happened, drives you down the field,
- 13:46Speaker 4: gets you right where you need to be. Yep, it's
- 13:49Speaker 4: just it's it's frustrating because I know, I feel like
- 13:51Speaker 4: for some people's long hanging fruit, because they've made up
- 13:54Speaker 4: their mind about what they think he is, sir, And
- 13:57Speaker 4: we've been fighting an uphill battle about this forever. So
- 13:59Speaker 4: I'll probably falling deaf ears here. I'm just saying, man,
- 14:04Speaker 4: separate bad moments or bad plays from bad players.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Your daughter doesn't listen sometimes, right right, Still a good kid, absolutely.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Good kid, still spoken like a true Pano. Then the
- 14:17Speaker 3: other guy.
- 14:18Speaker 4: So let's get into the receivers JSN seven receptions, one
- 14:21Speaker 4: hundred and eighty yards, two touchdowns, career high and receiving
- 14:23Speaker 4: yards and touchdowns.
- 14:25Speaker 3: And he did this having seventy.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Eight yards taken off the board, forty yard reception, a
- 14:30Speaker 4: thirty eight yard reception because of the two holding penalties,
- 14:34Speaker 4: now bump, if you take those away, he would have
- 14:36Speaker 4: been he would have had the second best game in
- 14:39Speaker 4: the history of the Seahawks. Who comes to receiving yards,
- 14:41Speaker 4: he would have had two hundred and fifty eight. Steve
- 14:43Speaker 4: Largin holds a record at two sixty one and he
- 14:45Speaker 4: got the Dance and Lions back in nineteen eighty seven.
- 14:47Speaker 4: But JSN, I'm just so pumped for him. He came
- 14:50Speaker 4: out and he stepped up. There's been a lot of
- 14:53Speaker 4: conversation about, well, he's the first he's a first round pick.
- 14:56Speaker 3: We're not seeing the explosive players. We're not seeing this
- 14:58Speaker 3: we got.
- 14:59Speaker 4: We saw him breaks tackles, we saw him go over
- 15:01Speaker 4: the top, we saw him make explosive plays and kind
- 15:03Speaker 4: of show no, I can be that guy and I
- 15:05Speaker 4: can make those plays.
- 15:06Speaker 3: So it's great to see him ball out.
- 15:08Speaker 5: He needed to see this, We needed to see this,
- 15:10Speaker 5: the fans needed to see it because he's in the
- 15:12Speaker 5: shadows of DK.
- 15:13Speaker 3: This is DK squad.
- 15:14Speaker 5: When it comes to throwing the football on receive, and
- 15:16Speaker 5: he is the most explosive receiver on this team. He's
- 15:18Speaker 5: still second in the league when it comes to twenty
- 15:21Speaker 5: plus yard catches even though he's been out two weeks.
- 15:23Speaker 5: That's how good DK has been for this squad. So
- 15:25Speaker 5: for a young man get into his second year being
- 15:27Speaker 5: the twentieth pick, it's so validating for him to be like, look, yes,
- 15:31Speaker 5: we lost, and he's going to feel a certain way
- 15:33Speaker 5: about it because it came after a loss. But now
- 15:35Speaker 5: he can turn on the film and remind himself this
- 15:38Speaker 5: is what I'm capable of, and hopefully the fans start
- 15:41Speaker 5: to buy in to that as well. Another receiver, Tyler Lockett,
- 15:44Speaker 5: three receptions for sixty three yards and one touchdown. This
- 15:47Speaker 5: is what the old head does on the basketball court, right.
- 15:51Speaker 5: You go to your local LA fitness and the old
- 15:53Speaker 5: head is just conducting stuff. Hey, alright, fella, get back
- 15:56Speaker 5: on defense, and when you need a play, ha, he's
- 15:58Speaker 5: gonna get you. That's what Tyler Lockett did. Everything's going crazy.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Got all these punts, you said, Well, the first eight
- 16:03Speaker 5: out of nine possessions were nothing but punts. Tyler Locket says,
- 16:06Speaker 5: calm down, I got you. Let me put you on
- 16:08Speaker 5: the board. It was good to see sixteen. And then
- 16:11Speaker 5: he got another catch that was big for a first
- 16:12Speaker 5: down as well. So Tyler Lockett man steady number.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Sixteen, old, reliable, always gonna make plays. Love to see
- 16:19Speaker 4: Tyler Locke doing this thing. And then super excited for
- 16:21Speaker 4: our guy. Cody White eighty two, two receptions, forty four yards,
- 16:25Speaker 4: blocks a punt, draws a pass interference in his Seahawks debut,
- 16:29Speaker 4: And as a guy, you probably can speak this better
- 16:31Speaker 4: than anyone, being a guy on the practice squad getting
- 16:33Speaker 4: your opportunity and making plays in a game. I told
- 16:36Speaker 4: you in the offseason, I've seen Cody White and he's
- 16:38Speaker 4: just a hell of an athlete. Back last year, they're
- 16:41Speaker 4: having a little competition Wednesday and I saw him dunk
- 16:43Speaker 4: of basketball. I saw him do a three to sixty dunk,
- 16:45Speaker 4: and I go, wow, that dude's an athlete. And we
- 16:48Speaker 4: saw it a little bit during training camp, so it's
- 16:50Speaker 4: not we haven't seen it, so no one in the
- 16:51Speaker 4: building is surprised.
- 16:52Speaker 3: But it was really cool to.
- 16:53Speaker 4: See a guy who was just on the practice squad
- 16:55Speaker 4: coming the game and make all those kind of plays.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I love it.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I remember being having that call and going up to
- 17:00Speaker 5: the office and talking to the OC and they saying,
- 17:02Speaker 5: you're ready, You're gonna play. And for him to step
- 17:05Speaker 5: up the way that he has, he has to be proud. Unfortunately,
- 17:08Speaker 5: it's still a loss, but if he didn't make those
- 17:10Speaker 5: three plays, he made even four because the pass interference
- 17:13Speaker 5: was big. This team isn't even in position to make
- 17:17Speaker 5: make the play at the end of the game. So
- 17:18Speaker 5: big ups to eighty two Leonard Williams. This is what
- 17:21Speaker 5: we're talking about. When the defense had themselves a hell
- 17:23Speaker 5: of a game, but unfortunately no one's really gonna remember it.
- 17:26Speaker 5: It's because of guys like him. Leonard was in that backfield.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Five tackles, two QB hits, one tackles for lost. I'm
- 17:32Speaker 5: still amazed that the Hawks recorder no sacks because it
- 17:35Speaker 5: felt like they were always around Matthew Staffers. This one
- 17:38Speaker 5: surprised me hearing them. Ernest Jones, he's selling in. You know,
- 17:42Speaker 5: he got he got his lazy boy in the living
- 17:45Speaker 5: room with his remote. Now he's getting comfortable here in Seattle.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:48Speaker 5: He had nine tackles, one TfL and one pass defended.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Yeah. I love to see Ernest Jones.
- 17:53Speaker 6: Man.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I wish you would have got the interception. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 3: I don't hurt.
- 17:56Speaker 4: But he gets to play l a again later this year,
- 17:58Speaker 4: so you know, that's a big game for him. Broadcasting
- 18:01Speaker 4: live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio presented by Sony, the
- 18:04Speaker 4: official headphones partner of the Seattle Seahawks. This NFL season,
- 18:08Speaker 4: every play, every hit, every moment with the Sony one
- 18:11Speaker 4: thousand XM five noise canceling headphones, the official headphones of
- 18:14Speaker 4: the Seattle Seahawks. With premium noise cancelation, you're in the zone,
- 18:18Speaker 4: no distractions, just pure football. Whether you're in your living
- 18:22Speaker 4: room or on the go, You'll never miss a beat
- 18:24Speaker 4: with Sony headphones.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Bump. We alluded to it a little bit here. Take
- 18:28Speaker 3: us to the receiver roundup. Who balled out?
- 18:30Speaker 5: Well, we know who really balled out JSN seven for one,
- 18:34Speaker 5: eighty two touchdowns at long of forty six. Tyler Lockett
- 18:36Speaker 5: three catches sixty three yards, one touchdown. Cody White eighty two,
- 18:41Speaker 5: two receptions forty four yards. He got aj Barner, who
- 18:43Speaker 5: had himself a good day as well, four for twenty seven,
- 18:46Speaker 5: Zach Sharbney had two for twenty five, and then Ken
- 18:49Speaker 5: Walker three for twenty four together three hundred and sixty
- 18:53Speaker 5: three yards.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Man, Yeah, I mean again, Gino has another three hundred
- 18:57Speaker 4: yard passing game. Like you look at those numbers in
- 18:59Speaker 4: you're like, okay, that's winning football. It's a good day
- 19:02Speaker 4: right for the you know, you look at receptions targets.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Obviously Jason got some unlucky with some penalties, but like you.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Take those out too.
- 19:10Speaker 4: We talked about Jason's record, Gino Smith probably has a
- 19:14Speaker 4: record too in passing yards with those easily over four hundred,
- 19:17Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So it's it's it's disappointing,
- 19:19Speaker 4: but you know it is what it is talking about
- 19:21Speaker 4: those two Gino Smith and Jackson Smith and Jigba. They
- 19:24Speaker 4: hooked up for a huge play to keep the Seahawks
- 19:26Speaker 4: hopes alive, winking up for a fourteen yard touchdown, tying
- 19:30Speaker 4: the score at fourteen.
- 19:31Speaker 3: At twenty.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Walker back in the back field on first and ten
- 19:35Speaker 6: at the Rams fourteen, Gino has time crows to the end.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Zone, touchdown Shayhawks Pit's Jackson Smith the jackab he jumped.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Into the stands. He may never get out. No fans
- 19:49Speaker 1: are gonna take him home.
- 19:51Speaker 3: What a game by JSN And what a.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Throw between two defenders Geno Smith from fourteen yards out
- 19:59Speaker 6: and the Hawks are a phg away from tying this
- 20:04Speaker 6: game at twenty with fifty one seconds left.
- 20:07Speaker 5: This is great understanding of how to move a defender.
- 20:11Speaker 5: So Gino's in shotgun, he has a running back to
- 20:14Speaker 5: the left of him. You got a tight bunch formation
- 20:16Speaker 5: to the left. He motioned Bubo from left to right.
- 20:19Speaker 5: Bubo motions. Now he goes into the flat. There's a
- 20:22Speaker 5: corner over there that Bubbo's either going to get the ball.
- 20:25Speaker 5: He's going to attract that corner right because as a
- 20:27Speaker 5: safety over the top, focus on JSN.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Jason is the number two receiver inside of Bubo.
- 20:32Speaker 5: On his release, he takes a slight inside release to
- 20:35Speaker 5: move that dB inside and clear a nice little path,
- 20:39Speaker 5: gets to ten yard snaps it off. Now, great catch,
- 20:42Speaker 5: but the throw is ridiculous. There are two DB's right there.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Hits Jason right in the chest. He ain't even have
- 20:48Speaker 5: to use his hands. He didn't have to use his
- 20:50Speaker 5: hands right in the chest. He has he knows he's
- 20:52Speaker 5: gonna get hit. Boom, he gets hit. Big play, big catch.
- 20:56Speaker 5: This is why I'll rock with Gino. Yeah, it's those plays.
- 21:00Speaker 3: He throws.
- 21:00Speaker 4: One of the best footballs in the night. I mean
- 21:02Speaker 4: the NFL, the entire NFL. And what I love about
- 21:05Speaker 4: both these it's back to back plays. The play before
- 21:06Speaker 4: this was fourth and five and you throw that faded
- 21:10Speaker 4: JSN on the sideline, another perfect pass from Gino.
- 21:12Speaker 3: You come back very next play.
- 21:14Speaker 4: They link up again and shout out to Jacksons been
- 21:17Speaker 4: the jig Bob forgetting because he.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Got popped on both those plays.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Yes he did and popped up you would have known
- 21:22Speaker 4: it was right in your face, jumped in the stand.
- 21:24Speaker 4: So love to see the toughness out of him. And
- 21:25Speaker 4: I'm hoping this is just the beginning. When Jaysn kind
- 21:28Speaker 4: of had another one hundred yard game against the Patriots,
- 21:30Speaker 4: I think it was in Week two, we're really hoping that. Okay,
- 21:33Speaker 4: now we're going Now, we're gonna start seeing these all
- 21:35Speaker 4: the time, and I'm just hoping this is gonna be
- 21:37Speaker 4: the genesis for that. I hope DK can come back
- 21:39Speaker 4: because we need him to come back. But I'm hoping
- 21:41Speaker 4: that confidence like you alluded to there with him and
- 21:43Speaker 4: DK coming back, what they can do with a healthy
- 21:46Speaker 4: team going into San Francisco after the bye. But unfortunately,
- 21:50Speaker 4: yesterday the clock just ran out on the Seahawks.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Taken by Hunley. They're just gonna left the clock. I
- 22:00Speaker 2: doubt I'm not even gonna bother taking that.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Last time out.
- 22:04Speaker 4: But Sunday was a game the Seahawks loved to have
- 22:06Speaker 4: back because, like I said at the beginning of the podcast,
- 22:09Speaker 4: they were the better team in that moment, they outgained them.
- 22:12Speaker 4: They played better at times, but again it's hard for
- 22:15Speaker 4: me to fully say that because when you need to
- 22:17Speaker 4: make certain plays in the game, they didn't execute in
- 22:20Speaker 4: the Rams did.
- 22:21Speaker 5: They did some things that made it harder than they
- 22:23Speaker 5: had to be. For sure, they got to fix some
- 22:25Speaker 5: things up, so hopefully during the bye week they do
- 22:27Speaker 5: exactly that. They won the time of possession too, but
- 22:30Speaker 5: they turned the ball over three times and Geno was
- 22:31Speaker 5: sacked seven times. Matthew Stafford was not sacked at all.
- 22:35Speaker 5: But the best thing to come from Sunday was how
- 22:36Speaker 5: the Seahawks defense played. Man, Now, it's about getting everybody
- 22:40Speaker 5: to execute at the same time, everyone.
- 22:42Speaker 3: At the same time, and we shall see. Is gonna
- 22:44Speaker 3: be tough against the Niners.
- 22:45Speaker 5: But you got two weeks to prepare for these dudes,
- 22:48Speaker 5: so they see what game plan they come up with.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it just looked completely different defensively.
- 22:52Speaker 4: I mean, I think the Seahawks had about seven to
- 22:53Speaker 4: three and outs, which is a ton against a team
- 22:56Speaker 4: like the Rams, who We've lost to the Rams obviously
- 22:59Speaker 4: in the last couple But our loss to the Rams
- 23:01Speaker 4: didn't look like yesterday. It looked more like, yeah, guys
- 23:04Speaker 4: running wide open confusion, all this kind of stuff that
- 23:07Speaker 4: wasn't the case yesterday. The Seahawks defense played a good game.
- 23:10Speaker 4: There's a good game plan, and like you said, the
- 23:11Speaker 4: Niners are gonna be tough. Who knows if Christian McCaffrey
- 23:14Speaker 4: will be playing that day or not. The one nice
- 23:16Speaker 4: thing is the Seahawks will finally have a week off
- 23:18Speaker 4: leading into that game. The Niners will play I believe
- 23:20Speaker 4: the Bucks next weekend, so we'll see what happens there. Man,
- 23:23Speaker 4: But tough game. A lot of season left. With a
- 23:27Speaker 4: seventeen game season, it's hard to figure out what the
- 23:30Speaker 4: halfway point is. This is essentially it in a way,
- 23:33Speaker 4: so a lot of ball left. I'm excited to see
- 23:35Speaker 4: what the Seahawks can do with that one night.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Let's get it. Come on.
- 23:37Speaker 4: We were broadcasting live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented
- 23:40Speaker 4: by Sony, the official partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Seahawks do not get it done. Follow the Rams twenty
- 23:46Speaker 3: six to twenty.
- 23:47Speaker 4: He's Michael Bummas some on NASA Trobe, but you remember,
- 23:49Speaker 4: you can catch us everywhere Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Series XM,
- 23:53Speaker 4: and on YouTube under the Seahawks Press Bass channel. So
- 23:55Speaker 4: we'll be back with you after the bye, hopefully talking
- 23:58Speaker 4: about you know, getting ready for the same sickle four
- 24:00Speaker 4: nine ers and then hopefully talking about a win. Like
- 24:02Speaker 4: I said, he's Michael Bama, some NASA Chobe. This has
- 24:05Speaker 4: been hot talk.
