- Tay: Welcome to the podcast or your next favorite story is already written in the stars. April: Wear your new book besties, April. Tay: Ante here to get your book craving started and satisfied. April: Why? Tay: Because around here it's faded. April: So grab your current read, maybe a cozy drink, and hide your TBR list because today we're talking Monster Romance by none other than CM Nascosta. Tay: Woo I am so excited for this. This was a much planned episode. I am so excited. April: It is. And I'm so excited too. And I just want to preface this all by Tay: Mm-hmm. April: saying that this last summer, for those of you who have not listened to our City Fling episode, I had the privilege of working in her line and helping to run it just to get readers through to be able to meet and see her at this signing. And she is so stinking kind. Like I can't say enough nice things about her as a human being. I can tell that she really truly cares about her fans and her readers and she was trying to make like genuine connections with each of them. So I really appreciated that about her. And I just wanted to share that because it's a special little tidbit and we love supporting authors who are supportive of their readers too. So Tay: That makes me much more inclined to read something when the author is kind. I also April: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Tay: did went ahead and read her bio from the books that we reviewed. And let me tell you, iconic, April: Yeah. Tay: because she talks about that she is way more attractive to unknown darkness and shadows than to the Chad next door. And I was like, yeah, girl, like April: Ha ha Tay: lay it out on the table. But she also said that she lives in an old Victorian home with a scaredy cat Dachshon. And if y'all know me, I have a weenie dog. And I April: Ha ha. Tay: was like, okay, we're bonded. We're bonded at this point. I feel like it's a crew when you have a weenie dog. It's just like you just know one another's soul in depth. And immediately I was like, I recognize you. I understand the weenie April: Mm-hmm. Tay: dog parent life. So that made me love her more. I was like, wow, okay, she's a nice person. me and her shared April: ha Tay: the same dog. Her books are enjoyable, all around. I was like, sign me up. And two. We did recently get to be signed up with her to be able to promote her books and kind of get to like envelop people into the monster romance world. me and April did not know that we would end up down this rabbit hole, but here we are. it started with our silly little fun episode on monsters and Synti and romance, and then now here we are. We're reading the monster romance books. And let me tell y'all, y'all eat it up. So I guess me and her, we're just we're just gonna be doing this, but this whole episode. is an ode to you, CM. So we hope you enjoy as we talk and giggle about your books. April: Yes, yes. Which of course we have to start with out of all her books. Like I know most people are thinking Morning Glory Milking Farm. We're gonna get there. We're gonna save that for later, but the book that we have to talk about first is of course our To Ravish a Rogue, which we both have this copy that we picked up this summer and it's so pretty. I always like hate to spoil the inside papers, but I have to this time because it's just mouth dropping. Tay: It's so good. April: I opened it and I was like, my God, Taylor, look at your book. Like it's so good. And and Tay: It's so good. And just beautiful. April: it is. And this book especially was special to me from her because she even says it in here in her author's note that it's her love letter to Johanna Lindsay's Gentle Rogue, which is one of the I love that series, Johanna Lindsay Anything, but it is such a beautiful series, her Mallory family series. When I read the author's note, I was like, I am a hundred percent sold on this book. I don't even care what it's about. I'm sold, I'm going in. And it did not disappoint. Tay: Yeah, I believe the exact moment me and you were both like staring at it and I was like, April: Yeah. Tay: well, we were looking at the books and I was like, which one out of these would I purchase right then and now? And me and you both made eye contact with the pirate one. I was like, Yeah, that's that that feels right up the alley. And you were like, if April: Yes, pirate. Sign us up. Tay: you buy it, I want it. I was like, say less. When Bestie says, you know, buy one, get one, I'm like, Yes, we're doing that. April: Yeah. We're doing that. We're reading the book and we're all monsters, Captain. So cute. I love it. Tay: Mm-hmm. so good. But I did enjoy this book. I actually gave it a five stars at the end of it because I was like, okay, like this book I didn't know where the story was gonna go. I was like, my gosh. I kind of wanna Read a little bit more pirate romance after that because it's kind of the adventure side of something. So it gave me a little bit of fantasy read, gave me a little bit of smut, gave me a little bit of monster. it hit all these like tropin genres in one book. And it for April: Yeah. Tay: being too, y'all, this is not like an extreme read. I would say it doesn't get too in-depth in the things, which is nice because I mean, look at it, it's not a huge book and April: It's really short. Tay: you can burn through it pretty quickly. so that was the enjoyable part about it too. I didn't have to use too many brain cells right now and with school April: Yeah. Tay: and work and all the things, those are much lacking, y'all. So I need a quick and easy read and something that brings me comfort in a little bit of like just outside world. So I loved that for that reason. But we do start with our two main characters. Charlotte Davenport, who at the beginning you're just like, she's very prim and proper. She's like a lady, but then she's escaping from something. So then you're kind of like, well, why is she escaping? and you kind of start off with that mystery aspect of it. She's trying to get off this island, she needs to sneak onto a boat. and then she does. She ends up sneaking onto a boat and impersonating a boy on the ship. and the ship's name is called male diction. Is that right? April: Male diction, yes, male diction. Tay: Male diction. Okay. All right. I didn't know if there was an actual meaning for that. I do need to look that up. but that is the name of the ship. And then we meet Lyrian. once again. Is that okay? Okay. April: That's how I said his name in my head too. So it's not just you. Yeah. Tay: Okay. Lyrian is the pirate captain of this ship. And so that's where we kind of start, and then they go on to an adventure. Lyrian calls it from a mile away. And also, too, y'all. This is an episode with spoilers. So if you do want to read these books, this is where you kick off here and not listen to the rest of this. And then you can skip ahead to the next book that we talk about. but she ends up going on this boat, impersonating a boy, and Lyrian calls it immediately. He's like, This April: Yeah. Tay: is a chick. Like, this is not a boy. I can see kind of her curves. I can see where she's also trying to attempt to be a boy, but like she's not. Like I'm calling it from a mile away. This is a chick. And the reason why they don't have chicks on boats, and they kind of kind of describe this a little bit, is that women somehow end up being like witches and a curse to a ship. And I think probably lore is like having a woman on a ship is gonna cause issues for you to either sink or, you know, other April: Yeah. Tay: things that could potentially happen. So women were not allowed on boats. And so, or at least the general idea behind that. So she's, you know, trying to hide her identity a little bit. Did you get that vibe? April: Yeah. And it goes along yeah, and it goes along with the name of the ship. So male diction like a curse. It's literally like being a curse or to bring evil upon something. So I think that that's kind of I'm I'm assuming that's where CM was kind of going with like having a woman go on a ship. And it is, it's like bringing this kind of a curse onto the ship is where I think she was going with the naming. And if so, brilliant. I love that. Tay: Brilliant. I mean, I love that tie-in. That's wonderful. Cause I was like, there is a deeper meaning to this, but I kept going because I was like, okay, I April: Yeah. Tay: want to read this book and finish it. but the aspect of that was kind of interesting, but I love too that he kind of knew but he's letting her do all these tasks. So like she's swabbing April: Yeah. He's letting her get away with it. Tay: the deck, she's going up to the crow's nest, she's doing her viewing and like and April: huh. Tay: you know, just regular being a mate, you know, on the ship. Well, then he brings it another level up. He ends up saying, Well, boy, you're gonna stay in the cabin with me and be my cabin boy. And she, of course, is just like, What? Like, I'm April: crap. Tay: fine, I'm fine with being underneath. I'm not fine with like actually being on board. and I thought that was kind of funny too, because he's like, he's like, I'm gonna like really tease her now and put her in the room with me. Of course, after a while, it becomes apparent that he knows she's lying. and she actually gets injured. And this was my favorite part. because he April: Yeah. Tay: like yells at her. and because she's still like pretending she's like, I'm fine, April: Yeah. Tay: like, you know, injured, hurt, you know, whatever. And he's like, No, let me look at you. But this is what he says. He says, Take off that filthy shirt and that bloody binder so I can see how injured you are, or I'll strip you naked myself, you impudent little wit winch. I can't even say. laughing because April: Yeah. Tay: he like he really that point he was just like I'm fed up I know you have a thing binding your breasts I know like you're fooling April: Right. Tay: everybody right now just let me help you you little wench and I just thought that was so funny I was like yes put her in her place because at this point it felt silly it's time to end April: the charade. Yeah. Tay: the charade because it's gone too far honestly at this point but April: Yes. And I love how he ends up calling her Charlie. I think that's such a cute name for Charlotte. So I'm sorry to any Tay: It is. April: Charlotte out there who are like, ooh, I hate that nickname nickname. I think it's adorable. And he's just so what I love about their relationship is yes, he's very like, you know, gets on to her calls her out for her things, but at the same time he's super loving to her and like Tay: He is. April: so ready to defend her honor. And I just love that in a book. I mean Regardless of like the monster romance umbrella that is in this book, you know, I do think that there is some a really healthy relationship at the end of the day. Tay: Yeah, I think so as well. And I think too, it's I like how she writes both her FMC and her MMC because, you know, him taking that sweet route and being like, I want to take care of you. There were moments of where he was like, You need to stay in the cabin. You need to stay back. And she could have written her in that very submissive, like, okay, I'll let him take care of me role. April: Mm-hmm. Tay: But she did give her a sense of independence. And like that could drive sometimes, I think, April: Mm-hmm. Tay: readers crazy when they're like, my gosh, she fought back. She should have just stayed in the cabin. I'm like, no, April: Mm-hmm. Tay: I think that's great because it gave her her own independence and her own sense of character to be like, no, I wanna help, I wanna do this. Granted, she did get hurt or whatever else, but you know, it kind of opened it up to where she's not gonna let a guy tell her what to do or whatever. But she still does respect him. respecting herself is also like speaking up for herself and doing what she she still needs to do. and that too, April: Exactly. Tay: ultimately the book's message is she's trying to save her sister, is why we end up April: Mm-hmm. Tay: finding out with why she got on this boat. and she does a lot of stuff on the way that was like, you know, I guess could be questionable as far as like, she ends up selling herself in an auction. April: Yeah. Tay: And of course, our maleman character is April: A of course. Tay: not gonna let her get bought by any other man. He is gonna be April: Yeah. Tay: the one to purchase her. So he purchases her and she's so mad. She's like, How dare you? Save my sister. He's like, You think I'm gonna let another man bid against my woman? And you find out that he sold his ship, insane, gave up everything, April: Gave up everything for her, essentially. Tay: everything to like, and I'm like, my gosh, I love him more and more the more I read him, but also too. I'm April: Yeah. Tay: like, it just shows like he didn't care past that point. He cared about her and only her. April: Mm-hmm. Tay: and we're gonna get now into that's the book portion. We're gonna get into. April: We gotta talk about that scene. Tay: Yeah, we gotta talk about that scene. We also have to talk about just like what leads up to that scene because you really don't okay, so he is a monster, he is a sea creature, spoiler alert, he is like this big I I picture it like a dragon of the ocean. Like he just like has April: Yeah, I think that the artwork really kinda helped me. I was thinking like Naga kinda esque, like I don't know. Really pretty though. I mean, really pretty. Yeah. Like a sea dragon, Tay: Yeah, and I mean he's really long, like I was like, okay, like I could, you know, but as far as her, April: yeah. Tay: I thought most of the book that she was a siren. And I think that's what our author wanted us to believe, because there's a scene April: Mm-hmm. Tay: where she has to like go into hiding and you think, okay, because they're talking about like sirens are not allowed on this island, and you're like, okay, she's a probably that because she's acting all weird. Come to find out she's not that at all. And the little hints that you get up until that point is our main male character in her have some spicy things that occur. and he feels some type of teeth andor pressure on his manhood. and at that point, he's just more of like, I don't necessarily know what this means, but I'm not not into it. So yeah, April: This is not a hard line for me. Tay: he's like, you know, I'm not gonna let that stop me, but I I definitely she's she's otherworldly. I don't know if she's a witch. I don't know if she's a siren. I don't know what she is, but like, you know, I'll figure that out when I get to that point. Turns out this girl is a a whirlpool in essence. A whirlpool monster. Yeah. April: In essence, yeah, it's kinda hard to like explain, but yes, something similar to that. Tay: Yeah, she's very very much in essence what ships choose to avoid in the ocean of like this big swirling April: Yes. Tay: thing. But he describes it as this vortex that has like teeth and can encapsulate an entire ship. They did call it a April: Yeah. Tay: charred abyss. I totally probably butchered that. I did? Okay. April: Yes. Nope, you got it right. Yeah. Tay: Yeah. That's what her like exact terminology of her in the book is. Gotta give it to CM man. She knew all these bigger words that I'm like, I have never heard before and I will have to Google later. I didn't get to that point, but now I'm gonna. April: Yeah. Tay: but basically she's like this big vortex full of teeth or whatever, and can suck down ships. But her sister in essence is also chaos. They're two sisters in chaos, April: Right. Tay: of the sea world, I guess. And He basically ends up being like, No, like I I'm still fine with this, it's still good. April: It's like instant, he's instantly fine with it. And he's like, But we're both of the sea. He literally mentions like they're both kind of made of the sea or part of the sea. And he's totally fine with it. he is ready to defend her and to get his girl and to rescue her, sort of a deal. Tay: Yeah. So him and her end up going going to town. That's the appropriate time. Like you figure out what she is. There's a whole bunch of chaos happening. You know what? Might as well throw in doing it while we're there. and this is the scene. I will omit words, y'all. but when her teeth clamped shut, he went rigid in her arms. He could feel the separation, the absence of what had just been there. It felt the Suction of her body as his mm-mm disappeared down her second throat. Then that tongue, yeah, second throat. Let's dissect that a little more. And then that tongue once more stroking against the wound, sealing it in an icy sensation that left in its wake. And then she whispered, Don't worry, darling, at his temple, supporting her in his arms like a baby as they pushed to the surface. It will grow back, I promise. what? I had to like sit there and reread that. I was like, what will grow back? And then I was like, no, his own April: And she ate it. nom nom nom nom. Tay: She did. She totally took that sucker off. I was like, talk about like April: Can you imagine? This is like one of those and he's like totally fine with it. Like this is like Tay: Yeah. April: one of those scenarios where I'm like, Tay: he he did make a point to like say like she well it's good she bit the one that does grow back. I was like, Okay, April: Yeah. Tay: so he had two, good note. but also like April: Right. Tay: it grows back, like thank goodness you knew that. Like April: Thank goodness, yeah. I'm sorry you guys ever had to figure out that that would grow back. Tay: my gosh. This it was a wild journey, y'all. I was I but I had such the April: It was it was. Tay: best time 'cause I was genuinely like I every time I like read a new chapter, I was like, what? That's waffle. April: The shock factor, especially with these monster romances, the shock factor is so good. And I think that's Tay: It is. April: what I think that's what draws you in and keeps you reading. Cause you're like, wait, what was that? What was that? But it makes for such good talking points Tay: Yeah. Mm-hmm. April: because of situations like that. Tay: Yeah, I I have honestly I could say I never read that in the book where we've talked April: Never. Tay: about the separation of and then too, him still being like fine with it. I'm like dog. April: Yeah. Tay: I he would he would leave me on red and never talk with me again. Like that would be like that is so wild. But you know, hey, like true love's true love. April: Right. True loves, true love. He is forever a part of her now, I guess. Tay: Yeah. April: I don't know. You gotta suspend your belief a little bit, but I do Tay: I yeah, I would say so. Yeah. April: feel like it also separates it from being a regular romance is because they are monsters. Like we can't just assume everything is going to be the same as it would be if you were a person. They are literal monsters. And I do think some people when they're reading these books and reviewing them, they kind of forget that part of it. It's like they, yeah, that's it's fine because they're monsters. It's not a human human romance. This is not your typical, you know, story. So it really worked out though. I thought it was great. Tay: Yeah, I thought it was great. It was a great finale as far as like finishing the bug. She saves her April: Yeah. Tay: sister. They go on this journey. He gets a shit back. Like everything's April: They go off into the sunset. It's beautiful. Tay: Yeah, they go off and have more adventures and she's not afraid to be who she is anymore. She's like, like this guy I'm with's not afraid of who I am. April: Yeah. Tay: and I think that's interesting too. And I think too, she like the form that she shed too, she does like she's like, it'll be it's nice that I can go back to that at any point 'cause we learned April: Yeah. Tay: that like Charlotte Davenport was just like a cover, like it wasn't her like her actual, like true self. April: Yeah. Tay: and so but she's like, Yeah, I could go to that if I wanna go to like adventure wherever else. So I think it's cool that she like embraced both sides versus being like, No, I'm a vortex all the time. She's like, Yeah, April: Yeah. Tay: like I could be whoever I want in that moment. It's like cool girl. April: Yes. She is so cool. Okay, I have to talk about the next CM book. So this one is Milked, which I don't think you've read this one. Have you read this one yet? Tay: I have not read Milked, but I have been recommended April: Okay. Tay: it multiple times on my hoopla. It keeps popping April: Yes. Tay: up to like the first part and I'm like, okay, eventually I just need to dive in. April: Yeah, so this one looks a little thicker, but I do want to say this particular version is two books in one. So Milked is actually Morning Glory Milking Farm and Blue Ribbon Romance, kind of combined into one book. So there's two stories in here. the second half of the book is Blue Ribbon, and that is told from Rourke's per perspective. Rourke is our male main character. Here he is, he's kind of essentially like a bull monster, and then we have her. This right here is Violet. Violet is our female main character. And I love that she's actually wearing like a violet colored dress on the cover. It's super cute. So in this one, I do think that this is probably her most popular. I mean, don't quote me on this. I'm just assuming I feel like Milk or Morning Glory, at least itself, is probably the one that I've heard the most out of. but Violet is our female main character, and she is like the rest of us, she is struggling with student loan debt, essentially. She has gone to school. She is very well educated. And she's having a hard time finding a job making enough money to pay for that student loan debt. I'm like, hello, it's myself. It's me. but she takes this job at a milking farm because she's desperate for money. And Rourke is the male main character in the story, and he is just so stinking wholesome. I love him so much. He's so patient, he's sweet, and he understands like the importance of communication. And I will say, like in this story particularly, consent and communication are actually super important details in this book. like everything is it's very well communicated, which I feel like is it's even better than like a a a normal romance in that, in that he is so sweet and communicative with her. you find out like she finds out like he's divorced and she's like, what, what? Because they have like they wear like the rings if they're married or whatever. And She kind of gets like a little turned off by that. But then, like, as it goes on, like you kind of just learn his story, and it is really so sweet. I have a quote I highlighted, and there are some dirty, dirty scenes in this book, y'all. Obviously, because she's milking him, and it's it's exactly what you think when they say milked, okay? It's exactly what you think. So, Tay: Boy. April: but there's a part in this when he's like, I can't find it out. He's like, He likes talks about just being ready to just spoil somebody. He's in this great financial position. He's ready to just meet the love of his life and just be happy with her. And so Violet is a really stinking lucky girl. yeah, I can't say enough about this book. There's a reason why it's so popular. It almost, as I was reading it, I looked it up because I was like, I read this years ago. I almost forgot that he was a monster, that he is like not human because he reads like just like the biggest little cinnamon roll guy who also has a really dirty mouth. We talked about that before, with to Ravish a Rogue about like how, you know, there are some dirty, dirty scenes. There are some dirty things that come out of their mouth. But but he's so stinking sweet. But when I was going back to reread this book for this episode, I all I didn't even I cause I read it on ebook the first time I read it. All of her books, or at least the ones that I've read, are all on Kindle Unlimited for our friends who love Kindle Unlimited. Hoopla is also one that I found her books on. But I did giggle because look at the pages in this. It's literally a Highland cow and I died laughing, y'all. I was like, that is seriously so funny that that's his chapter headers for it. Tay: Just to remind you what you're reading, it's like I gotta have I April: Yeah, exactly. Tay: remember at one of my jobs they had a lactation room, and the lactation room had a cow in there. And I thought a guy designed this room because why April: Yeah. Tay: the hell would a woman ever want to look at a cow while she's in essence milking herself? So April: Yeah. Tay: but that's so funny. April: I know. jealousy plays a role in this because obviously like he's going there to be given a special hand job, right? he's her very first client. Like he's the first one she milks. And of course she goes on because it's her job. She's going on, she's doing it. But like it's different with him. It's special with him. Like there's actually like sexual tension that isn't there with the others. And then she ends up getting shadowed by another girl that she's trading. And she has this whole moment of like, is she gonna have to do the touching? I don't want anybody else touching him. I was like, girl. So it is it is so good. Tay: Okay. April: I cannot. And I don't know. I just really appreciated this book. Yeah. Like Tay: she said, That's my job, I dare you. April: you could tell. I really do think, and I should have asked. I wish I would have asked. There is so much humor in this book. I feel like there's way more humor in Morning Glory, Milking Farm, and of course Blue Ribbon than there was in to Ravish a Rogue. There are so many moments where I'm like, she purposefully put that in there just to make us laugh and go, my gosh, that's ridiculous. But it is so funny. I cannot recommend it enough for a good time read. And like I said, I feel like it's a really good introduction to monster romances because it's really, there is no Manhood being swallowed by a whirlpool. Okay. Tay: Yeah. April: There is no second throat in this book. So if you're needing something a little bit more tamed, this is definitely the one to go for because yeah. Tay: And honestly, we just did the episode on like best books to read for first time. And then I I honestly think with Monster, I I can't think of a single one that's like, read this as your first. Like that April: Yeah. Tay: one is like you have to go both feet in. So to our listeners, yeah. Okay, that's good. That's that's a good dip toe. Cause like honestly, April: Yeah. This one I think you can dip your toe into it. Yeah. Yeah. Dip toe. Tay: I think both of the time you gotta like just just go in. Just April: Yeah. Tay: go in and remember that this is not real. This is not real. There's not actual. April: It is not real. And it Tay: It's fun. It's lighthearted. It's funny. It's yeah. April: Yeah, it's a good time. It's a good time. And I think that when I was doing her line at City Flank, a lot of her readers, this was like their most favorite. Almost every single Tay: Mm-hmm. April: one of them was like, I love that book. I understand the premise is wild, but it is so good. And they're not wrong. I agree with them a hundred percent. It is not bad. It's not a bad book at all. It's a really, really good read. is the premise a little silly, a little weird? Yes, but it's totally fine because he's so sweet, he's so patient. And I think it really challenges that whole premise of monster romance. Well, just because somebody is a monster by their looks, that doesn't necessarily make them a monster on the inside. And this book definitely really challenges you to think about that. So hands down, love it. Love it. Tay: I will I need to do it. That'll be my next one that I read of hers. I April: It's sweet. It'll be way less shocking to you. Tay: Yeah. Yeah. I was I was shook it on Ravish Rogue. But let me tell you though, April: Yeah. Tay: it also shook me, but I liked her writing style. I like the way she really researches. Yeah, April: Yeah, it's not it's not junky. Tay: it's not junky. She really puts time and effort, you can tell, into writing her books. So April: Mm-hmm. Tay: they're short, but they're very like well written. So April: Yeah. Yeah. Tay: I took on her actually most recent release, which is called Full Moon Frenzy. which the front cover of it, let me tell you all, is beautiful. I don't have a copy of it yet, but like this is the front, and I don't know how spicy and like, you know, whatever. I'll kind of cover it a little bit. But like that's the front. Yes. Okay. April: Ooh. It just came out August twenty eighth. So yeah, her super new release. Tay: Yeah, super new release. and it's actually the third book in a series. I did not know that going in. but I would say you can read it without having read, yeah. April: As a standalone. Yeah. Tay: Correct. Yeah. I didn't really know until they started talking about the brothers and stuff. the first two books were also about the brothers. so it is about a series of brothers, the Heming brothers. This last one is a book about trap. and I would say he gives very much like third child energy in general. he has like or at least like, I don't know, he's just very taking he's the golden boy, spoon fed kind of vibe. April: Mm-hmm. Tay: and it's very arrogant in the book. And I I told April right before we started recording this, they spend majority of the book being enemies. And when we finally get to lovers, the lovers is good. The lovers is April: Yeah. Tay: so good. And I was kind of bummed that one was shorter because like I I needed more lovers than I needed enemies. but I understood why they kind of had to paint him that way because he had to go through like a character development kind of prose. April: Mm. Tay: but also too, they Like they very much played into the he's an asshole, but he's hot. April: Mm-hmm. Tay: so that's where it ties us in. he's supposed to be this hot shot at his coffee shop. He ends up not being, his brother ends up getting married. There's this whole kind of like plot line going on there. April: Mm-hmm. Tay: but the talk. between him and his girl is pretty crazy. So he when she's like talking about him about how annoying he is and whatever else, you know, she says trap kissable, punchable, popular, perfect trap hemming, the bane of my existence for years, the best sex I've ever had, and the biggest asshole you've shared a table with. So I'm like, that's like April: That really sums it up. Tay: Yeah, that sums it up of his personality. They go on hating each other, this book, but man, when the tension breaks, it breaks. It's so good. and it is a werewolf romance. So he is a werewolf, and that's kind of what the brothers are as well. and then two, what kind of took me by surprise more than the other books of hers that we've read is there was a ton of monsters in this book. wide variety of like they're like, April: Yeah. Tay: there's a gargle over here. There's like, I mean, there's like all these different April: Monsters kinda out in the Tay: monsters. April: open. Tay: Yes, yeah. Almost like they're having at the beginning, I picture like a fall festival in my head and he's talking about this like pig lady and I just have to envision myself there. I'm like, okay, every single person is half animal, half something or whatever else. So that was kind of interesting plot point of it is that, you know, they're all April: Mm-hmm. Tay: mixed breeding. So that was kind of having to keep up with. but when they finally get to some spicy. I'm gonna give you this spicy line or whatever. Since he's Mr. Like back talk to her. I thought this was a great one. and her name's Addie by the way, but he says, if you would just sit on my mouth, I wouldn't be arguing, would I? Why would why don't you just help me shut up? and let me tell you she did. She shut his mouth right up. He immediately stopped. April: Good for you, girl. Tay: But it was a super enjoyable read. I really did like this one. I just finished it literally last night. but I really want to now go back and read the other two because I do think April: Yeah. Tay: it'll help me kind of understand like that plot development even a little more. April: Yeah. Tay: but it was still a good read. You can read it out of order. but I now want to go back and read the beginning two just because I read this one. It was so good. And two, I wanted to read her April: Yeah. Tay: latest. I wanted to see like, what she just put out into the world. April: which it is always exciting to see how an author's writing has kind of grown and changed throughout the years because they they tend to get just better every single book or a piece. So it looks like Morning Glory came out in twenty twenty one. It was first published for Tay: twenty two. okay, twenty twenty one. April: for Morning Glory just itself, not Blue Ribbon. Morning Tay: okay. April: Glory itself was first published in August of twenty twenty one. So I I read it a couple years, I guess, after release. but it is exciting, yeah, to see that she's still out there putting out romance, you know, that's with monsters. Tay: Yeah. Well, what's even cooler is I'm thinking that's really not, I mean, like five years, she's already written. I think I want to say there was like twelve books or something under her scope, maybe more than that. So sh April: Bangers too. Straight up bangers. Tay: so incredible kind of to see what her timeline might look like, but what what she might produce later. But if y'all enjoy a good werewolf romance, this is definitely one of those ones that will kind of hit the nose on the head about what you want to get from those type of books. and I would say overall shock factor, I'd probably say out of the three, it's probably the lowest on the scale. It's not as shocking as our other three. but April: Mm. Tay: it was a very good, enjoyable read. I just wish there was more lovers because when the love scenes happened, it was too good. I was like, okay. I don't I just want more of that. But man, they really they played into the enemies for sure. April: I love that. Well, good. Yeah. I can't recommend it enough. I feel like, you know, there are some monster romances out there that are just purely shock factor or it's just purely smut, smut, smut. There is actual plot in her book. So, if you're wanting something where, yeah, there's gonna be a little bit of silly, a little bit of shock factor, it's gonna be a little bit of a weird read. but there's an actual plot to the story, these are definitely the books to pick up for sure. Tay: agree. I I enjoyed this week's episode. I enjoyed kind of diving into her. and probably at some point we'll do another dive in episode and maybe read another batch of them. April: Yeah. Let us know. Yeah. Which ones we need to read. So all right, Tay: Yes. April: besties. That's it for today's episode. Tay: Make sure to follow, download, and share our podcast socials with your other book besties. We would love to hear about your favorite CM Nakosta books.
