- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to the twenty twenty six Patriots Unfiltered Draft Show.
- 0:09Speaker 2: The New England and Patriots Slide presented.
- 0:11Speaker 3: By Toyota is official website for deals by a Toyota
- 0:14Speaker 3: dot com.
- 0:17Speaker 4: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered, our special draft extravaganza
- 0:22Speaker 4: live from Gillette Stadium. It's Fred Kirsh, Paul Perillo, Evan Lazar,
- 0:27Speaker 4: Mike Dus, Matt Morrell in the booth and we'll be
- 0:30Speaker 4: here until at least ten o'clock talking about the draft.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Bringing this on me last minute.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Now, I don't know, we'll see what happens.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Seventeen picks away.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I know tracks at seven to ten.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I know we've got a lot to do. But yeah,
- 0:45Speaker 4: so Patriots pick made their pick. They came hopefully right
- 0:51Speaker 4: tackle in the future. Well, you never know. I you know,
- 0:56Speaker 4: that's the plan.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Most people would say tackle the future. But you know,
- 0:59Speaker 2: right specific a position he's never played. No, but I
- 1:03Speaker 2: think he made thirty two snaps.
- 1:05Speaker 5: I mean, the more I thought about though, Paul, when
- 1:07Speaker 5: you laid it out last night early and kind of
- 1:09Speaker 5: exactly what you said.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a little bit of insurance there in case
- 1:13Speaker 4: the worst happens with with Will.
- 1:15Speaker 2: But yeah, Will will be fun. I like the idea,
- 1:17Speaker 2: but I don't know if he can play because I'm
- 1:19Speaker 2: not an expert on this stuff. But I like the idea.
- 1:21Speaker 2: This is what I exactly what I talked about an
- 1:24Speaker 2: hour before they did it. Yeah, just set yourself up
- 1:27Speaker 2: so you have a plan if Morgan Moses can't go
- 1:31Speaker 2: wire to wire seventeen games, or if he can and
- 1:35Speaker 2: he's all set there and something happens with Will Campbell.
- 1:38Speaker 2: This is a guy who can play either side swing
- 1:40Speaker 2: tackle at minimum rookie year. I like it. I like
- 1:43Speaker 2: the idea behind it.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's diving into him a little bit
- 1:46Speaker 5: more because I think the reason people like me didn't
- 1:50Speaker 5: really hone in on him for two reasons that he
- 1:52Speaker 5: played primarily left tackle, and out of what they've told
- 1:55Speaker 5: us about Will Campbell, it's you thought teams were going
- 1:58Speaker 5: to go grabble left tackle earlier than you might think.
- 2:00Speaker 5: And it's also just the lack of you know, the
- 2:02Speaker 5: grit and the nastiness that to me was such a
- 2:05Speaker 5: personal personality trait that I was looking for most of
- 2:08Speaker 5: the prospects that you know, I wanted to connect to
- 2:10Speaker 5: the Patriots. So those are the two reasons why I
- 2:12Speaker 5: think I and others didn't really hone in on him. Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 5: but you know, he's athletic, he's got the size, you know,
- 2:19Speaker 5: decent LinkedIn. I just you know, he's twenty one years old.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I'm going to correct you just next time, instead of
- 2:26Speaker 2: putting any onus, on yourself, just say, you know, I
- 2:30Speaker 2: just didn't think he was going to be there, So
- 2:31Speaker 2: I didn't really I didn't really envision him. Because I
- 2:33Speaker 2: heard that twenty seven times today. Yeah, I not from
- 2:36Speaker 2: the Patriots. I'm not blaming. That's not a direct I
- 2:38Speaker 2: heard it from Martha at the gargage. She says, I
- 2:40Speaker 2: didn't think he would be there. You know, I really
- 2:42Speaker 2: didn't give him much thought. I didn't mock him to
- 2:44Speaker 2: the Patriots because I just thought he'd be long gone
- 2:46Speaker 2: by that.
- 2:47Speaker 6: There's there's a small percentage of me that is probably
- 2:50Speaker 6: frustrated with myself as much as I am frustrated about
- 2:54Speaker 6: the pick itself, because we didn't see this one necessarily coming,
- 2:59Speaker 6: Like everybody was all on Yanna Chore or Blake Miller
- 3:03Speaker 6: or one of the other tackles, and it turned out
- 3:05Speaker 6: based off of all the things that we've heard from
- 3:07Speaker 6: Elliot Wolf, and I know we're going to play our
- 3:08Speaker 6: interview with him soon. They love this kid like they
- 3:11Speaker 6: had him, you know, as with the first round grade, and.
- 3:14Speaker 2: He was surprised that he was ready to trade up
- 3:19Speaker 2: for him, and all you know, they one of the
- 3:20Speaker 2: few guys that they were willing to trade up for.
- 3:23Speaker 6: I think what Deuce hit there, though, is exactly the
- 3:26Speaker 6: nail on the head is that we, or myself at
- 3:30Speaker 6: least under the impression that things like grit and toughness
- 3:34Speaker 6: and play strength and just that sort of mentality at
- 3:39Speaker 6: that position was going to matter more than it ended
- 3:42Speaker 6: up mattering. And I think the trait that at least
- 3:45Speaker 6: Elliott Wolf said was the more important one was athleticism,
- 3:48Speaker 6: and they have now acquired for extremely athletic offensive linemen.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Does that indicate that they want to be a zone offense.
- 3:58Speaker 6: I think it might, you know, I I wrote about
- 4:00Speaker 6: that a little bit Fred, because Elliott Wolf mentioned a
- 4:05Speaker 6: multiple run scheme. He mentioned moving the pocket with Drake
- 4:08Speaker 6: May a little bit more. I think that, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 6: you look at across the board, Will Campbell, Elijah Vera Tucker,
- 4:14Speaker 6: Jared Wilson, and now lomu All elite athletic testers at
- 4:18Speaker 6: the combine, you know, high end athletic testers, and that's
- 4:22Speaker 6: four fifths of your offensive line. You know, that's your group.
- 4:25Speaker 6: So they are prioritizing athleticism. They're prioritizing past protection ability
- 4:31Speaker 6: over some of the intangible stuff that we thought Mike
- 4:35Speaker 6: Grable would be into. And that's not saying that he's
- 4:38Speaker 6: not on board with it. I just think that it's
- 4:40Speaker 6: maybe not we were looking at the wrong thing.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Well, earlier today we had a chance to talk with
- 4:45Speaker 4: Elliott Wolf. He sat down with us via zoom. So
- 4:49Speaker 4: why don't we get that going? Matt Morrell, all right,
- 4:52Speaker 4: we are joined by Elliott Wolf, executive vice president of
- 4:55Speaker 4: player Personnel for the Patriots. Elliott's thanks for taking time
- 4:58Speaker 4: to join us. I know it's a busy day.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Yeah, thank you.
- 5:02Speaker 8: Thanks for having me.
- 5:03Speaker 4: So it's myself, Fred Kurris, Paul Parello, Evan Lazarre, and
- 5:06Speaker 4: Mike Doss. And first off, when you do a deal
- 5:10Speaker 4: with a team in your division, is the dynamic on
- 5:13Speaker 4: the phone a little bit different than it would be otherwise?
- 5:18Speaker 8: I don't think.
- 5:18Speaker 9: So.
- 5:19Speaker 10: You know, I've known Brandon being for a long time,
- 5:22Speaker 10: and you know, Ryan Cowden obviously is known him for
- 5:25Speaker 10: longer than that.
- 5:25Speaker 8: He worked with them in Carolina for years, So there's
- 5:28Speaker 8: a good relationship there.
- 5:29Speaker 10: We're obviously competitors, you know, we don't root for each other,
- 5:33Speaker 10: but there's there's a professional respect there that we have
- 5:35Speaker 10: for those guys.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Along those lines, Elliott, how important is it and how
- 5:39Speaker 5: difficult is it to know what the other teams want
- 5:42Speaker 5: to do and to think, all right, this team might
- 5:44Speaker 5: want this guy that we want, we have to jump
- 5:46Speaker 5: ahead of them. How do you guys, you know, put
- 5:48Speaker 5: together that information of knowing what the other teams might
- 5:51Speaker 5: be targeting.
- 5:53Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, it can be.
- 5:54Speaker 10: Difficult, but you know, our pro scouts do a great
- 5:57Speaker 10: job of identifying team needs.
- 6:00Speaker 8: You know, in the first round are pretty relevant.
- 6:03Speaker 10: You know, as we get further and further into the
- 6:06Speaker 10: draft it becomes less so, but you know, first two
- 6:09Speaker 10: rounds it's it's pretty relevant. And also the information that
- 6:13Speaker 10: we gathered from talking to people, you know, whether that's
- 6:16Speaker 10: agents or members of the media, we can kind of
- 6:19Speaker 10: glean exactly what we think they're going to do. And
- 6:21Speaker 10: it's not always right, it's not always accurate, but you know,
- 6:24Speaker 10: when we put all the information together, you know, and
- 6:27Speaker 10: certainly in this case, as we're talking about Caleb Blom
- 6:29Speaker 10: who we felt like we couldn't we couldn't sit there
- 6:32Speaker 10: at thirty one and still get the player.
- 6:35Speaker 4: So talk when you talk about the movie, he might
- 6:38Speaker 4: be almost the perfect guy for the situation that the
- 6:41Speaker 4: Patriots are in right now, where you have Morgan Moses
- 6:44Speaker 4: already there, you have Will Campbell on the other side.
- 6:47Speaker 4: All the guys that I read and that's how I
- 6:49Speaker 4: know about these guys, say that he could use a
- 6:52Speaker 4: year to gain a little bit of strength, a little
- 6:54Speaker 4: bit of size to go along with his athleticism. Do
- 6:57Speaker 4: you look at it that way as well, like this
- 6:59Speaker 4: is a great situation for this particular player.
- 7:04Speaker 8: Well, first of.
- 7:04Speaker 10: All, I think I think any offensive alignment coming into
- 7:06Speaker 10: our room is in a good situation.
- 7:08Speaker 8: We have a great mix of veterans in youth.
- 7:12Speaker 10: Morgan Moses obviously provides a great deal of leadership, and
- 7:17Speaker 10: you know Elijah Peer and Tucker who were just getting
- 7:19Speaker 10: to know a little bit. But as a veteran player,
- 7:22Speaker 10: Mike don winnow as well.
- 7:23Speaker 8: So I think it's a really good.
- 7:26Speaker 10: Situation with with with Lomu or any rookie I think
- 7:29Speaker 10: there's a lot.
- 7:30Speaker 8: There's things that they need to work on when they
- 7:31Speaker 8: get here.
- 7:32Speaker 10: I would say for an offensive alignment, almost all of them,
- 7:35Speaker 10: whether it's Loman or somebody else, need to get stronger.
- 7:39Speaker 8: And and he's you know, the showing the diligence.
- 7:42Speaker 10: And the work ethic through his time at Utah that
- 7:44Speaker 10: we're comfortable with that he's going to continue to work
- 7:46Speaker 10: and get better.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Oh wait, you've been around a lot of drafts, you know,
- 7:50Speaker 2: you go back to the fifteen minute between pick drafts.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Last night was the first one with eight minutes. How
- 7:55Speaker 2: did you guys find the change with you know, from
- 7:57Speaker 2: a media perspective, we loved it. I'll just let you know,
- 8:00Speaker 2: and you're getting that thing over at less than three hours.
- 8:02Speaker 2: But I'm curious how you guys felt. Did you feel
- 8:04Speaker 2: rushed at all?
- 8:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 8:07Speaker 10: Same, I loved it the first day. Really, the first
- 8:10Speaker 10: two days of the draft is a lot of hurry
- 8:12Speaker 10: up and wait and just kind of sitting there and
- 8:14Speaker 10: waiting for your pick. You know, we're all we're all
- 8:16Speaker 10: geared up for eight o'clock, all the drafts coming, and
- 8:18Speaker 10: then you know we're thirty first, so we're looking at
- 8:20Speaker 10: you know, three hours from now, so we like the
- 8:22Speaker 10: eight minutes. I will say it was it was somewhat
- 8:24Speaker 10: challenging when we actually did do the trade because I
- 8:26Speaker 10: think we got the got the trade finalized with about
- 8:29Speaker 10: three minutes left on the clock, so then we have
- 8:32Speaker 10: to get the player on the phone and make sure
- 8:34Speaker 10: he's you.
- 8:35Speaker 8: Know, alive and well. And uh we were. We were
- 8:38Speaker 8: able to get it done.
- 8:39Speaker 10: A great job by Macro getting the trade in, Ryan
- 8:42Speaker 10: Cowden finalizing the trade, Brian Smith, uh uh, getting getting
- 8:48Speaker 10: a name in, and Tony Kinkell on the phone. So
- 8:51Speaker 10: we were able to get it taken care of and
- 8:53Speaker 10: and we're excited about you know, the way that.
- 8:56Speaker 7: Was that was done.
- 8:57Speaker 10: It was it was kind of cool to be able
- 8:59Speaker 10: to execute a trade like that in eight minutes because
- 9:02Speaker 10: it was good practice for as we get into the
- 9:04Speaker 10: you know, the seven minutes in the five minutes here
- 9:06Speaker 10: moving forward in.
- 9:07Speaker 8: Case we move again.
- 9:08Speaker 6: Yep, Elliott, we you know, had been debating on our
- 9:11Speaker 6: shows about maybe potentially a gap in talent at the
- 9:15Speaker 6: tackle position after those top seven guys that we saw
- 9:18Speaker 6: go last night, Did you guys feel the same way
- 9:20Speaker 6: that you know after Caleb there might have been a
- 9:23Speaker 6: drop off there in talent, and that was maybe why
- 9:25Speaker 6: you guys went up and got.
- 9:27Speaker 10: Him a couple of things there.
- 9:30Speaker 8: Yes, I think there, I think there's a drop off.
- 9:33Speaker 8: I do think there are other good tackles in this draft.
- 9:35Speaker 10: It's not like it just goes from you know, completely
- 9:37Speaker 10: off a cliff here. There's just a little bit of
- 9:39Speaker 10: a gap maybe between the next guy and Caleb was
- 9:43Speaker 10: someone that we identified even before the draft started, was
- 9:47Speaker 10: you know, maybe one or two players that we would
- 9:49Speaker 10: potentially go up for.
- 9:50Speaker 8: We had identified him.
- 9:51Speaker 10: So this wasn't about for us getting the last tackle
- 9:56Speaker 10: until the drop off.
- 9:57Speaker 8: It was about getting a player that we wanted.
- 9:59Speaker 4: So I assume you've reset your board after round one
- 10:02Speaker 4: now you're getting ready for the second and third rounds.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Other than that is the hay in the barn. Are
- 10:06Speaker 4: you just just hurry up and wait right now? Or
- 10:09Speaker 4: is there also other last minute things you need to
- 10:12Speaker 4: do before seven o'clock tonight.
- 10:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I wouldn't say there's last minute things.
- 10:17Speaker 10: I mean there we're still calling around trying to see
- 10:19Speaker 10: if you know, teams are looking to move up or down.
- 10:22Speaker 8: Obviously you know since we're sixty.
- 10:24Speaker 10: Tonight, there's there's some lag time there, but just trying
- 10:28Speaker 10: to feel out exactly what teams are looking to do
- 10:30Speaker 10: and trying to get as much information.
- 10:31Speaker 8: As we can.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Okay, just one last question.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Over the last two drafts, you guys have drafted you know, Will, Jared,
- 10:38Speaker 6: and now Caleb on the offensive line. All those guys
- 10:41Speaker 6: you know have great athleticism scores you know, and great
- 10:44Speaker 6: athletic testing. Has that been an emphasis for you guys
- 10:48Speaker 6: to get more athletic on the line with those three players?
- 10:51Speaker 10: Yeah, I think I think athleticism is paramount, especially with
- 10:55Speaker 10: a quarterback like we have that's going to be dropping
- 10:57Speaker 10: back and throwing the football the past protection elem But
- 11:00Speaker 10: then really the multiplicity with with Josh lakes to play
- 11:04Speaker 10: in the run game or we'd like to do a
- 11:06Speaker 10: lot of different things with movement.
- 11:08Speaker 8: Definitely definitely an area.
- 11:09Speaker 10: Of emphasis for us, not only on the offensive line
- 11:12Speaker 10: but everywhere, but particularly the offensive line.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Well, Elliott, thanks for joining us, Good luck tonight.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Thanks, Okay, thanks Elliott.
- 11:21Speaker 4: All right, that was Elliott Wolf taking some time out
- 11:23Speaker 4: from his mid afternoon. It's probably around twelve thirty one
- 11:27Speaker 4: o'clock we talked to him. So, yeah, so I would
- 11:30Speaker 4: imagine being at sixty two, are they to sixty three?
- 11:36Speaker 4: They are feeling other teams out to see who might
- 11:39Speaker 4: want to move down, And yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 5: I hope so, Fred, because I think tonight is the
- 11:43Speaker 5: night to strike on the edge. Oh, strike on the edge.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Let's get our edge rusher tonight. Let's go up and
- 11:48Speaker 5: get them. I think that's what they have to do.
- 11:50Speaker 5: There's a handful of guys left that I think really
- 11:53Speaker 5: moved the needle this year, and if you want one
- 11:55Speaker 5: of those, I think they have to be aggressive tonight
- 11:57Speaker 5: and they're going to have to move up from that spot.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Who would you rather?
- 12:00Speaker 2: I think I agree with them.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Who would you rather have? The best? I think I
- 12:04Speaker 4: know the answer is the best tight end available, who
- 12:08Speaker 4: might be better at his position than the best edge guy.
- 12:12Speaker 5: You know me, Fred, I'm going with the edge on
- 12:13Speaker 5: that one here, But I but I do think tight
- 12:15Speaker 5: ends is the second position.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I want to go get one. Yeah, if I'm waiting
- 12:19Speaker 2: until sixty three, then it might be right between the players, right.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But I think you're looking at how you Thomas All,
- 12:28Speaker 2: you know.
- 12:29Speaker 5: As Crawford, Danny dennee Sutton, I'm also available.
- 12:35Speaker 2: At sixty three. Yeah, most of those guys are going
- 12:37Speaker 2: to go out the board. So if you want one
- 12:38Speaker 2: of them, right, I think you're going to get aggressive.
- 12:42Speaker 6: Especially because you picked the player that you're tentatively planning
- 12:46Speaker 6: on red shirting, right Like, you picked the player that's
- 12:48Speaker 6: probably not a starter in twenty twenty six and is
- 12:52Speaker 6: more of a depth player in low MoU. So you're
- 12:55Speaker 6: getting one of these edge guys that can still come
- 12:57Speaker 6: in this year, even if it's just a a situational role,
- 13:01Speaker 6: like let's say they take one of those you know,
- 13:04Speaker 6: speed guys off the edge that might really only play
- 13:06Speaker 6: on third down and play in passing situations. But at
- 13:09Speaker 6: least it's someone that's gonna make an immediate impact on
- 13:11Speaker 6: the team in twenty twenty six. Lomo is gonna be
- 13:14Speaker 6: you know, he's an insurance policy right now, and so
- 13:17Speaker 6: that's not an immediate probably starter what you want, Yeah.
- 13:21Speaker 2: If you hope, he's probably gonna be your swing tackle
- 13:24Speaker 2: as a rookie, and you know, maybe he plays a
- 13:27Speaker 2: little as a as an extra tight end or something
- 13:29Speaker 2: like that. You know, maybe they maybe they find some
- 13:31Speaker 2: packages for him.
- 13:32Speaker 6: They have a little muscle tight end.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, if you think in the preseason, Morgan Moses
- 13:37Speaker 4: will basically take games off and we'll see a lot
- 13:40Speaker 4: of this guy.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's a great way to get it.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Sure, you know, get him, get him experience right out
- 13:43Speaker 5: of the gate. But you know, going back to Paul saying, like.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Looking great.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Uh, the tight ends, though, I do feel like a
- 13:51Speaker 5: little bit later later tonight, early tomorrow, there will still
- 13:55Speaker 5: be some tight ends that will intrigue me.
- 13:57Speaker 2: But there's a handful.
- 13:58Speaker 6: Paul rattled off most of them.
- 13:59Speaker 5: But I would say, Howell, Thomas, Akus Crawford, Derek Moore,
- 14:03Speaker 5: those five guys to me. Give me one of those
- 14:05Speaker 5: five guys tonight.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I just Howell. But Thomas Howl Thomas so.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Happy with any of them?
- 14:11Speaker 6: Time?
- 14:11Speaker 4: Do you think you could wait or do you have
- 14:13Speaker 4: to go get one?
- 14:14Speaker 6: I think you gotta go get them. I think you
- 14:15Speaker 6: gotta go get it.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Think they'll be gone by sixty three.
- 14:17Speaker 6: I think they'll be maybe like a guy like Kean
- 14:20Speaker 6: Crawford might make it to sixty three. Uh, you know,
- 14:23Speaker 6: Ramelo Heights probably going to make it to sixty three.
- 14:25Speaker 6: If you're just looking for guy, a guy that'd come
- 14:27Speaker 6: in with some pass rush Jews like joshn Barham is
- 14:31Speaker 6: going to be there at sixty three by Santa's a
- 14:35Speaker 6: good player. But yeah, they they to me tonight it's
- 14:39Speaker 6: the night where you almost did it. You almost did
- 14:41Speaker 6: the inverse, like you almost did it in reverse a
- 14:43Speaker 6: little bit. Usually you think of the first round pick
- 14:45Speaker 6: is the guy that's going to come in and contribute
- 14:47Speaker 6: right away, but it might be tonight where it's an edgeresher,
- 14:50Speaker 6: it's a tight end, it's a receiver that is somebody
- 14:53Speaker 6: that's going to come in and be the guys that
- 14:54Speaker 6: are gonna contribute in twenty twenty six.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Yeah, a little bit backward. I mean, it's just that
- 14:58Speaker 5: we've talked about it so much. I mean, it's all
- 14:59Speaker 5: off season we've talked about this edge class. It's time
- 15:03Speaker 5: to make it happen. And it's such a big need.
- 15:05Speaker 4: To me.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Evan put it perfectly. He's this guy can come in
- 15:08Speaker 5: and instantly upgrade a pass rush. That is gonna help
- 15:11Speaker 5: Milton Williams, it's going to help Christian Barmore, it's gonna
- 15:13Speaker 5: help the coverage, it's gonna help, you know, the the
- 15:16Speaker 5: Roberts spellings of the world trying to stick with these
- 15:18Speaker 5: tight ends. So I just I think this is a
- 15:20Speaker 5: night where last night was a little bit toward toward
- 15:23Speaker 5: the future. But that's what good teams do. They are
- 15:26Speaker 5: ahead of it. You drafted Nate Solder before you needed him,
- 15:28Speaker 5: and then all of a sudden you needed them immediately.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Don't let the cover go bear, especially at tackle. So
- 15:33Speaker 5: I feel the same way about Edge. Go get one
- 15:35Speaker 5: of those guys time.
- 15:36Speaker 4: All right, So speaking of the future and Caleb Lamaux,
- 15:39Speaker 4: he had his presser, uh and we'll you know, not
- 15:42Speaker 4: everyone had a chance to see that, So let's take
- 15:45Speaker 4: a listen to what he had to say.
- 15:49Speaker 11: Once late us out a Caleb, how you doing. I'm
- 15:53Speaker 11: doing great. I'm feeling amazing right now.
- 15:57Speaker 4: What was your reaction to getting the call from the.
- 16:01Speaker 11: And I'm trying to remember I just saw my phone ringing.
- 16:04Speaker 12: It kind of went blank from there, and then I
- 16:06Speaker 12: answered the phone and you know, talked to all the
- 16:07Speaker 12: coaches and the owner and all of that, and then
- 16:10Speaker 12: I'm trying to remember, the whole thing kind of kind
- 16:12Speaker 12: of went blank. But it was such a surreal feeling,
- 16:14Speaker 12: you know, something I've been in a way for my
- 16:17Speaker 12: entire life. So when it actually happened to is you know,
- 16:20Speaker 12: It's a moment I remember for the rest of my life.
- 16:23Speaker 13: Ellie Wolfe said that they came to your thirty visit
- 16:26Speaker 13: and it was a bit of a surprise to you guys.
- 16:29Speaker 14: What was your in theaction to that and did that
- 16:31Speaker 14: think you you know, swayed their opinion one way or another?
- 16:35Speaker 12: No, I was, you know, shocked by that, or you know,
- 16:38Speaker 12: thought differently, had a really good visit with them.
- 16:41Speaker 11: You don't have to combine. I think, you know, maybe
- 16:44Speaker 11: it's just to.
- 16:44Speaker 12: Check with medical, but you know, I had to clean medical,
- 16:46Speaker 12: and so it didn't throw me by surprise. I always
- 16:49Speaker 12: thought they were still in the mix, and of course
- 16:51Speaker 12: they were. I'm just you know, very happy that they
- 16:53Speaker 12: were in the mix and still wanted me.
- 16:56Speaker 8: Caleb Will gave you the confidence to feel that they
- 16:58Speaker 8: were still in the mix.
- 17:00Speaker 12: I mean, I everything I got from there, you know,
- 17:02Speaker 12: the meeting with them and just being able to meet
- 17:04Speaker 12: with them, and they've got.
- 17:05Speaker 11: Great feelings from them.
- 17:07Speaker 12: They're just a great organization, and I think it was
- 17:09Speaker 12: just personally I wanted them to be always be in
- 17:11Speaker 12: the mix.
- 17:12Speaker 11: You know, just such an amazing team.
- 17:14Speaker 12: You know, it's it's a place I always wanted to
- 17:15Speaker 12: be in a team I always wanted to play for.
- 17:17Speaker 12: So it was maybe it was just me wanting them
- 17:20Speaker 12: so super bad, and so you know, once I got
- 17:23Speaker 12: that call, those it's crazy.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Wait little, I.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Just think Patriots already have Will Campbell.
- 17:28Speaker 4: I love tackle.
- 17:29Speaker 2: How would you feel about playing right tackle or dark?
- 17:33Speaker 11: Yeah? I feel great. I just want, you know, want
- 17:34Speaker 11: to play whatever positions open. I just want to get
- 17:37Speaker 11: on the field and get out and play. You know,
- 17:38Speaker 11: Will Campbell already sent me a text.
- 17:40Speaker 12: I haven't been able to spawn yet, but you know,
- 17:42Speaker 12: I love that being able to come into a room.
- 17:44Speaker 11: You know, they just dropped him last year. Two guys.
- 17:46Speaker 12: I gonna be able to learn, you know, newer guys,
- 17:47Speaker 12: and so I'm you know, I'm so excited for the opportunity.
- 17:50Speaker 11: I'll play wherever.
- 17:51Speaker 12: You know, I'm coming into play some football, the game
- 17:53Speaker 12: I love. I'm able to play any position and so
- 17:57Speaker 12: wherever the team needs to be, and I'm going to
- 17:58Speaker 12: be able to play and just so excited to be
- 18:00Speaker 12: part of it.
- 18:01Speaker 11: You mentioned me just sent you a text. Do you
- 18:03Speaker 11: guys have a friendship at all? Do you know him
- 18:06Speaker 11: Will Campbell?
- 18:07Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:08Speaker 12: No, we didn't know each other before He's probably the
- 18:11Speaker 12: first person to text me. I looked at my phone
- 18:13Speaker 12: after that. It kind of started to blow up a
- 18:15Speaker 12: little bit. But you know, I've never talked to him before.
- 18:17Speaker 12: I do follow him on social media and I've always
- 18:20Speaker 12: followed his journey from college and so you know, the
- 18:23Speaker 12: fact I'm able to go to work with him now
- 18:24Speaker 12: is it's amazing.
- 18:25Speaker 11: But we didn't. We didn't know each other beforehand.
- 18:27Speaker 15: With the with the Patriots, you're coming in, what if
- 18:30Speaker 15: anything do you know about Drake May and what's your
- 18:32Speaker 15: you know, level of excitement or anything like that to
- 18:35Speaker 15: you know, get to play with him.
- 18:36Speaker 12: I'm so excited for that, you know, a younger quarterback
- 18:38Speaker 12: coming in, such an amazing player. I mean what they
- 18:41Speaker 12: got going there on, especially their offense, I'll be a
- 18:44Speaker 12: part of and just a team. You know, they're they're
- 18:46Speaker 12: on the rise, and it's it's amazing. Drake Mayson the
- 18:49Speaker 12: towns a quarterback. I'm so excited to be able to
- 18:50Speaker 12: work with him every day, be able to protect him.
- 18:53Speaker 12: You know, I'm I'm protector. I'm an offensive liignment. It's
- 18:55Speaker 12: my job to protect that guy, and you know, I'm
- 18:57Speaker 12: gonna do everything that I can to protect him.
- 18:59Speaker 11: So, you know, being able to go to work with
- 19:01Speaker 11: them now is going to be amazing.
- 19:04Speaker 16: Elliott mentioned that he was surprised to see that you
- 19:07Speaker 16: were still available at the time that the Patriots were picking.
- 19:10Speaker 16: How would you describe your evening as far as the
- 19:13Speaker 16: weight and that process.
- 19:16Speaker 12: Yeah, it was definitely a long evening. I mean, just
- 19:18Speaker 12: a whole day in general. You know, I always just
- 19:21Speaker 12: hadn't knew God I had a plan for me wherever
- 19:23Speaker 12: you know, I was to go, And so, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 12: a lot of emotions going through my blood throughout the
- 19:28Speaker 12: entire round. But you know, I always knew where wherever
- 19:31Speaker 12: I ended up, it is going to be the right
- 19:32Speaker 12: place for me, in the right situation, and I can
- 19:35Speaker 12: tell you that you know it is going to be.
- 19:37Speaker 12: And so a lot of emotions going through, you know, nerves,
- 19:39Speaker 12: excitement and all the button. And once I saw that
- 19:43Speaker 12: number pop up on my phone, it was his all assignment.
- 19:46Speaker 11: Caleb.
- 19:47Speaker 10: What do you remember about your first point of contact
- 19:50Speaker 10: with the Patriots.
- 19:52Speaker 12: Yeah, that was just at the combine for my formal interview,
- 19:57Speaker 12: you know, walked in. It was one of my first
- 19:59Speaker 12: and so initially it's kind of scary for walking in
- 20:01Speaker 12: and seeing twenty people that's all right there. It's kind
- 20:04Speaker 12: of like walking into this media room right now, and
- 20:05Speaker 12: then you just sit right in the middle and they
- 20:07Speaker 12: just started, you know, attacking you with some questions and so,
- 20:10Speaker 12: you know, it was a little nerve racking that first,
- 20:12Speaker 12: but I loved it. You know, it was amazing to
- 20:14Speaker 12: be able to talk with those coaches and kind of
- 20:16Speaker 12: get to know them, and you know, they're they're just
- 20:18Speaker 12: doing their interview thing, and so I enjoyed it.
- 20:21Speaker 11: But that was like the first time I, you know,
- 20:23Speaker 11: got to be with them.
- 20:24Speaker 8: What do they want to know about you and from you?
- 20:27Speaker 12: A lot of it, you know, all the basic stuff,
- 20:29Speaker 12: just you know who I am, asking me some questions.
- 20:31Speaker 11: Then we go on into the football stuff. You know,
- 20:33Speaker 11: they started asking me questions.
- 20:35Speaker 12: About you know, who I am as a player, a person,
- 20:38Speaker 12: my game on the field, and kind of start throwing
- 20:40Speaker 12: like football you know, knowledge at me to see how
- 20:42Speaker 12: I could retain in and to kind of communicate back
- 20:45Speaker 12: back to them. And so the whole thing was just
- 20:48Speaker 12: a test, really, and I know, I loved it. It
- 20:51Speaker 12: was super intimidating, but I love being in there and
- 20:54Speaker 12: being able to answer those questions.
- 20:56Speaker 11: That they were asking me, how would you describe your game?
- 21:00Speaker 12: You know, I a lot of ways, and I'm a
- 21:03Speaker 12: very technical player. I study the you know, study of
- 21:07Speaker 12: the game really hard. I like to be very prepared
- 21:09Speaker 12: out there, so I know, you know what I'm going
- 21:11Speaker 12: to do, what to expect, so I'm able to move
- 21:12Speaker 12: faster and play faster as an offensive lineman too. You know,
- 21:16Speaker 12: he got to be meeting aggressive, So that's part of
- 21:18Speaker 12: my game as well. But I love to be smart
- 21:21Speaker 12: out there. It's the very foot was a very physical game,
- 21:23Speaker 12: but it's also very you know, mental game and having
- 21:26Speaker 12: that right mindset being out on the field it's just
- 21:28Speaker 12: as important.
- 21:29Speaker 11: And so that's how I, you know, make sure I
- 21:31Speaker 11: focus on that.
- 21:31Speaker 12: And I feel that that's what makes me a very
- 21:34Speaker 12: good football player.
- 21:35Speaker 2: What wait, did you plan at Utah and what weight
- 21:38Speaker 2: are you now?
- 21:39Speaker 4: Uh?
- 21:39Speaker 12: Just the past season, I was about three or seven
- 21:42Speaker 12: consistently right now, I about three thirteen, three fourteen.
- 21:46Speaker 11: I was trading at that weight maybe like the three
- 21:48Speaker 11: twelve the past like pre combined process and all of that.
- 21:53Speaker 15: What was your first impression of Mike Rabol Just what
- 21:56Speaker 15: did you kind of get to see from him in
- 21:58Speaker 15: these meetings.
- 21:58Speaker 11: Yeah, I love them. I walked in there and he
- 22:01Speaker 11: was he was definitely playing his role.
- 22:03Speaker 12: He was kind of just you know, mean bugging a
- 22:05Speaker 12: little bit, and so I walked in there and that
- 22:07Speaker 12: made me a little insimudated.
- 22:08Speaker 11: Then you just started asking questions.
- 22:09Speaker 12: You know, he knew he was the top guy in there,
- 22:11Speaker 12: and so I walked in, uh, and he started asking
- 22:13Speaker 12: me questions. You know, it was getting on me a
- 22:15Speaker 12: little bit, and you know, it was awesome. And then
- 22:17Speaker 12: right after, you know, it was all smiles. He came
- 22:19Speaker 12: up to he shook my ants, did a really good job,
- 22:22Speaker 12: and I just you know, walked out just speed dating
- 22:24Speaker 12: at the combine. But you know, I loved it. He
- 22:26Speaker 12: was a very you know, serious guy and he's an
- 22:28Speaker 12: amazing coach. I can't wait to be able to play
- 22:30Speaker 12: for him.
- 22:31Speaker 6: Can't old Mt me Shoy that redraft During the period.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Could you have any contact with Josh McDaniels and if so,
- 22:37Speaker 5: what was your impression of him?
- 22:40Speaker 11: No, I did not.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Like Caleb.
- 22:43Speaker 2: What did Bill Campbell say to you by it?
- 22:44Speaker 11: Tex?
- 22:45Speaker 12: I actually didn't read the whole thing, but it was
- 22:47Speaker 12: kind of just on the on my page, but said
- 22:51Speaker 12: just congratulations can't wait to work with you. And that's
- 22:53Speaker 12: kind of what I what I saw, So I'm excited
- 22:55Speaker 12: to go be able to reply to that and text
- 22:58Speaker 12: him back.
- 22:59Speaker 11: You mentioned and meeting coach Raybell. You play for Kyle
- 23:03Speaker 11: Whittingham and Dutah. How did that prepare you for an
- 23:05Speaker 11: opportunity like this?
- 23:07Speaker 12: Yeah, for sure, Kyle Whittingham was an amazing coach. You know,
- 23:10Speaker 12: I'm very excited for what he's going to do over
- 23:11Speaker 12: at Michigan. But the way that Kyle Whittingham you know,
- 23:14Speaker 12: prepares his players, he gets them ready for the NFL,
- 23:16Speaker 12: gets them ready for the league. And I think that's
- 23:18Speaker 12: why Utah you know, produces so many players. Got Spencer
- 23:21Speaker 12: final Ups got drafted to the Browns, which is amazing.
- 23:24Speaker 12: So it produced really good talent. I think that starts
- 23:26Speaker 12: with coach Winningham. How he you know, conducts the University
- 23:29Speaker 12: of Utah, how he conducts football and just everything that
- 23:32Speaker 12: Utah football is about. And he just prepares you for
- 23:34Speaker 12: you know, what's later to come in life and then
- 23:36Speaker 12: also just life in general outside of football, and so
- 23:39Speaker 12: he just prepares you for every situation.
- 23:40Speaker 11: I think that's why, you know, we're also prepared for
- 23:43Speaker 11: the next level.
- 23:45Speaker 13: Caleb, is there any personal fun fact that might surprise
- 23:48Speaker 13: Patriots fans A value?
- 23:51Speaker 11: I love golf. I'm pretty decent at it too.
- 23:53Speaker 12: I'm not gonna say I'm amazing because I don't want
- 23:55Speaker 12: to get out there and start chinking balls. But I
- 23:57Speaker 12: love golf, love getting out there. So I don't know
- 23:59Speaker 12: much about golf. I'm over there but hoping there's some
- 24:01Speaker 12: good courses be able to to be able to go
- 24:03Speaker 12: out and play. But I'm a golfer. I went this morning.
- 24:06Speaker 11: Actually will do two more questions in the room.
- 24:11Speaker 15: How many people do you have at your draft party?
- 24:13Speaker 11: There's quite a few.
- 24:14Speaker 12: I don't know the exact number, but there's a you know,
- 24:16Speaker 12: there's a good crowd out there. Got lots of family
- 24:19Speaker 12: and people that supported me, so you know, I was
- 24:21Speaker 12: super happy I was able to be here with all
- 24:23Speaker 12: of them and be able to experience this moment, you know,
- 24:25Speaker 12: with the people who got me here as well.
- 24:27Speaker 11: But there's a good man. I've got all the cousins
- 24:29Speaker 11: and families and close friends. Cale.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Have you been in New England before?
- 24:34Speaker 12: If so, were your experiences and if you haven't, when
- 24:36Speaker 12: you looking forward to see I've.
- 24:38Speaker 11: Not been over there.
- 24:39Speaker 12: No, I haven't been too much of the East Coast
- 24:41Speaker 12: at Also, I'm excited to get over there, Hurt. It's beautiful.
- 24:44Speaker 12: You know, I had a friend there that actually served
- 24:45Speaker 12: as LS Mischigon over there. He said he loves it,
- 24:48Speaker 12: and so I'm so excited for, you know, how to
- 24:50Speaker 12: get over to experience it. A little bit away from Arizona,
- 24:53Speaker 12: which will be fun, but it's you know, I'm excited
- 24:55Speaker 12: just experience. I don't know much about it at all,
- 24:58Speaker 12: so that'd be fun to learn about them.
- 25:01Speaker 11: And we'll do one final question online from Chris Ryan.
- 25:07Speaker 11: Thank you, congratulations.
- 25:08Speaker 10: You mentioned some of the things that excited you about
- 25:11Speaker 10: this opportunity, but is there something that excites you the
- 25:14Speaker 10: most about how an opportunity.
- 25:15Speaker 6: To play for the Patriots.
- 25:17Speaker 12: Let me you just see, you know, they were in
- 25:19Speaker 12: the Super last year, didn't get that outcome that they wanted,
- 25:21Speaker 12: but you know, they're a team that is going to
- 25:23Speaker 12: be fighting in the playoffs and Super Bowl every single year,
- 25:25Speaker 12: and that's the type of team I want to be on.
- 25:27Speaker 12: I you know, a competitive team that's willing to work
- 25:30Speaker 12: and take that extra step to get to that fall
- 25:33Speaker 12: into the season and some so excited to be a
- 25:35Speaker 12: part of that, be able to you know, get back
- 25:37Speaker 12: their next series is what I wanted.
- 25:39Speaker 11: That would be amazing. But it's just a Patriots in general.
- 25:42Speaker 11: You know.
- 25:42Speaker 12: The organization's a wonderful organization and they're just a team
- 25:46Speaker 12: that I loves to play and I can see that
- 25:48Speaker 12: looked following them last year and now and now I'm
- 25:50Speaker 12: part of them, and so I'm excited to get there,
- 25:52Speaker 12: get to work and get the whole thing rolling.
- 25:55Speaker 11: Taylor, Thank you so much for joining us tonight. Congratulations,
- 25:59Speaker 11: welcome to the Patriots, and mark forward to seeing you sing.
- 26:03Speaker 11: Thank you appreciate it. Nice with you guys.
- 26:05Speaker 4: All right, So that's the first exposure for Kayla Lamu
- 26:08Speaker 4: to the New England media. Yeah, and I think he,
- 26:13Speaker 4: you know, carried himself rather well.
- 26:16Speaker 2: A nice young does seem maybe too nice?
- 26:18Speaker 6: He seems young, you know what.
- 26:19Speaker 5: They'll fred to go back to that, and that's something
- 26:21Speaker 5: that I said earlier. We kind of overlooked him. Not
- 26:23Speaker 5: everybody needs to like eat glass and you know, get
- 26:25Speaker 5: penalties after the whistle and stuff. I like guys that
- 26:28Speaker 5: have an edge too. But if there's somebody like look
- 26:30Speaker 5: Nates Solder wasn't that guy. And he did fine. He
- 26:32Speaker 5: was a fine tackle, you know.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Lot, but a lot of comparisons to Nate's Soldier, Yeah,
- 26:36Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 26:37Speaker 6: Nate's older, bigger, longer six yeahs too tall, he might
- 26:42Speaker 6: have been too tall. Yeah, I I think that, you know.
- 26:47Speaker 6: The one thing that stands out to me is listening
- 26:49Speaker 6: to him talk. And the kid's still only twenty one
- 26:51Speaker 6: years old, you know, And I think that's the probably
- 26:54Speaker 6: to me, the most appealing part about the pick is,
- 26:57Speaker 6: you know, he was already playing at a pretty high
- 26:59Speaker 6: level in the Big Twelve against NFL caliber players at
- 27:03Speaker 6: twenty twenty one years old, you know, as a true
- 27:05Speaker 6: sophomore and a true junior. Declare, So those are the
- 27:09Speaker 6: baby Those are the types of players though, that have ceiling,
- 27:11Speaker 6: you know, Like that's usually the types of guys that
- 27:14Speaker 6: you project to have pretty high ceiling. So that that
- 27:17Speaker 6: part of it is intriguing. Should we write off some
- 27:19Speaker 6: of these picks that they catch us up?
- 27:22Speaker 2: I want to catch us up.
- 27:23Speaker 6: So the forty nine ers selected Jason Stripling, the wide
- 27:27Speaker 6: receiver from Ole Miss. The forty nine ers have a
- 27:29Speaker 6: different wide receiver board than everybody else. I feel like
- 27:31Speaker 6: they took Ricky Picky really early too, and Stribling I
- 27:35Speaker 6: think was a riser but someone that most people thought
- 27:38Speaker 6: was like a third round pick value, and they took
- 27:40Speaker 6: him here.
- 27:40Speaker 2: At the great run in the playoffs too, he played
- 27:43Speaker 2: really well, and yeah he.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Did in a very good vertical threat, great acceleration off
- 27:47Speaker 6: the line of scrimmage. The Cardinals go with Chase Basantis,
- 27:51Speaker 6: the guard from Texas A and M, in my opinion,
- 27:54Speaker 6: the best remaining guard prospect after Retligi went at the
- 27:57Speaker 6: end of the first round. Really athletic, good pass blocker.
- 28:01Speaker 6: The Bills in the division t J Parker to the Bill,
- 28:05Speaker 6: so one of the year, one of your edges. And
- 28:08Speaker 6: then the Texans jumped the Giants, who had just traded
- 28:11Speaker 6: Dexter Lawrence, to select Cayden McDonald, the nose tackle from
- 28:15Speaker 6: Ohio State. So it sounds like the Texans were worried
- 28:18Speaker 6: that the Giants were gonna take McDonald, so they jump
- 28:21Speaker 6: ahead of them. And then the Giants took Colton Hood,
- 28:24Speaker 6: a cornerback from Tennessee. So uh, the the receiver in
- 28:28Speaker 6: the edge I think is interesting, you know, Stribbling going
- 28:31Speaker 6: earlier than going before Denzel Boston, Denzel Boston is still
- 28:35Speaker 6: on the board. And then yeah, one of those edge
- 28:37Speaker 6: guys duce with TJ.
- 28:38Speaker 11: Parker.
- 28:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I like the Kaiden McDonald pick for Houston. I
- 28:40Speaker 5: mean that's outstanding defense. I mean complimentary to their two edges.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Saw those guys last year.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I mean trenches from the draft right offensive and defensive lineman.
- 28:50Speaker 5: Yeah, that's it's a good complimentary pick. I mean I
- 28:53Speaker 5: just less so the game itself. I don't think it
- 28:55Speaker 5: really played out exactly, but the week of just watching
- 28:58Speaker 5: those guys in the dominate. Yeah, Anderson Daniel Hunter.
- 29:01Speaker 2: I mean, those guys are interesting to see, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 2: with Houston, and you know, we don't have to turn
- 29:06Speaker 2: it into a Texans thing, but Tank Dell if he
- 29:09Speaker 2: can get back on the field for them, because it
- 29:12Speaker 2: did see I mean it was weird, you know, not
- 29:14Speaker 2: necessarily looking at the playoff game because Nico Collins didn't
- 29:16Speaker 2: play in that game, but even when their whole they
- 29:19Speaker 2: kind of were missing a piece. They had the two
- 29:22Speaker 2: rookies that both showed promise at times. I wonder what
- 29:29Speaker 2: what maybe Tank Dell could do if you could get
- 29:31Speaker 2: back to I don't even like eighty percent of his
- 29:33Speaker 2: former self and then give a give another weapon to c. J. Stroud.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Was he hurt in two years ago play it was
- 29:42Speaker 2: a late game, Yeah, I think I think it may
- 29:45Speaker 2: have been like as like one of the Christmas time.
- 29:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it was brutal.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I think we were in brutal broken There was much
- 29:53Speaker 2: more than a broken leg.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but in classic this area though, in
- 29:57Speaker 6: my opinion, like to just go interior trenches like he like.
- 30:01Speaker 6: It feels like there he's always building that team from
- 30:04Speaker 6: the inside out and getting big guys in there. But Parker,
- 30:08Speaker 6: you know, the Bills. Interesting one to me with the
- 30:10Speaker 6: Bills because they're kind of going through a scheme change,
- 30:13Speaker 6: coaching change right now, scheme change. Defensively, I think they're
- 30:17Speaker 6: going to be more of a three to four, like
- 30:18Speaker 6: a pure three to four team. They had been a
- 30:20Speaker 6: four down team for years with Sean McDermott.
- 30:23Speaker 16: So t J.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Parker drafted to be like a stand up edge setter
- 30:27Speaker 6: in that kind of defense, which makes a lot of sense,
- 30:29Speaker 6: So more of like a Belichick defense almost in a
- 30:32Speaker 6: way than very very different than the type of scheme
- 30:35Speaker 6: that they were running under McDermott and that staff.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I didn't love TJ. Parker.
- 30:39Speaker 5: I mean, I think he's a very good, solid player.
- 30:41Speaker 5: I just didn't I didn't see the explosiveness. You know,
- 30:45Speaker 5: I see power, and I think that's probably a good
- 30:47Speaker 5: base end for them to start with as they try
- 30:50Speaker 5: to remake their defense. Probably a solid piece. But the
- 30:53Speaker 5: guys I mentioned desperation not yet, but yeah, I you know,
- 30:58Speaker 5: there was a lot of talk about going back to
- 31:00Speaker 5: twenty twenty four with TJ.
- 31:02Speaker 6: Parker had a much better year in twenty twenty four
- 31:04Speaker 6: they did in twenty twenty five. I went back and
- 31:06Speaker 6: watched twenty twenty four and thought he looked kind of
- 31:08Speaker 6: the same. I think it was a situation and circumstance.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I read that five different ways. He got a lot
- 31:14Speaker 2: more attention in twenty five. You go back to twenty four,
- 31:16Speaker 2: he was much more impactful. Blah blah blah. Like, if
- 31:19Speaker 2: you're any good, let's just say you come into the
- 31:21Speaker 2: league and you're really impactful, what are you going to
- 31:23Speaker 2: get that kind of attention? Yeah, so then what do
- 31:25Speaker 2: I get?
- 31:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean he's but he's a rugged player, you know,
- 31:28Speaker 6: he's a board He's different. He said, he's a really
- 31:30Speaker 6: good edgesetter. Against the run. Really good run player for them.
- 31:35Speaker 6: You know, that defense, I would say over the last
- 31:37Speaker 6: couple of years. You guys can disagree me if you want,
- 31:39Speaker 6: but the kryptonid of that defense has just have been
- 31:41Speaker 6: to run them over right like that. They've always just
- 31:44Speaker 6: been a defense that's been weaker against the run and true,
- 31:47Speaker 6: and teams have just wanted to run it right down
- 31:48Speaker 6: their throats. And this is a two hundred and sixty
- 31:50Speaker 6: two hundred and sixty five pound edge setter that you're
- 31:53Speaker 6: not going to be able to just run down his throat.
- 31:55Speaker 6: So that I think they're trying to get bigger, try
- 31:58Speaker 6: to get stouter on that defense and see how it
- 32:00Speaker 6: works out.
- 32:01Speaker 11: All right.
- 32:01Speaker 4: So the Raiders are about to announce their selection, so
- 32:04Speaker 4: they're holding the sixth pick of the second round.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Yeah, continue to build around Fernando Mendoza, and I'll see
- 32:11Speaker 5: if in twenty.
- 32:14Speaker 12: Six the Las Vegas Raiders select Traders Stoops.
- 32:21Speaker 6: He's a good football player, nickel, you know, I think
- 32:25Speaker 6: he's a nickel, but he could play a little bit
- 32:27Speaker 6: of safety as well. He is just a great on
- 32:32Speaker 6: the ball producer, like he's around the football, constantly plays
- 32:35Speaker 6: the run like a linebacker, covers like a safety, aggressive,
- 32:39Speaker 6: just alpha mentality out on the field. I loved watching
- 32:43Speaker 6: him play. I thought he was an absolute baller. I
- 32:45Speaker 6: think it's a really good pick, and I think the
- 32:48Speaker 6: pick is in for the Browns as well. The Browns
- 32:51Speaker 6: they they took Casey Concepcion at the end of last night,
- 32:53Speaker 6: right am I not forgetting that, I believe. So they
- 32:56Speaker 6: just took Denzel Boston. Wow, So they doubled up that
- 32:59Speaker 6: wide receivers. So they they've taken h casec and Denzel Boston.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Like I said before, I am surprised that that stribbling
- 33:08Speaker 6: went ahead of Denzel Boston. I I don't think many
- 33:11Speaker 6: people had that. I think it was almost consensus that
- 33:15Speaker 6: it was the other way around with those two guys.
- 33:17Speaker 6: But Denzel Boston goes to the Browns. So the Brown's
- 33:20Speaker 6: now loading up at wide receiver.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Jerry Judy. Yeah, it's not not enough. So no more
- 33:29Speaker 2: excuses for their lack of quarterbacks.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Their quarterback right, So they're gearing up for that. So
- 33:37Speaker 4: that puts Kansas City, yes, on the on the clock.
- 33:42Speaker 6: That is correct. We don't uh. They took a Delane
- 33:46Speaker 6: and last night, so yeah, I would think playmaker.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I think I wonder if they were in I wonder
- 33:51Speaker 2: if a guy like Denzel Boston was on their radar.
- 33:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 4: The last night, I was wondering, why don't we get
- 33:56Speaker 4: any calls? You know, we got a lot of emails,
- 33:58Speaker 4: but why don't we get any turns out the phones
- 34:00Speaker 4: were down.
- 34:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 5: I had a feeling that upgraded something.
- 34:04Speaker 4: So the phones are back up. Phones are back up.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the hot line.
- 34:10Speaker 6: It's funny. I was driving home and I thought to myself,
- 34:13Speaker 6: we got no calls in a four hour show, just thinking.
- 34:16Speaker 4: You know, people are watching TV. Maybe, And then after
- 34:19Speaker 4: a while I was like, maybe something's going on here
- 34:21Speaker 4: somebody likes And it turns out, yeah, the phones were down,
- 34:23Speaker 4: but they're back up.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I didn't even notice that.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Nate, Nate Connecticut is our first call? Or what's up Nate, Nate?
- 34:33Speaker 4: Oh boy, okay we can hear you. No, all right, Nate,
- 34:39Speaker 4: call back. I don't know what's going on.
- 34:41Speaker 2: We'll try it again.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Maybe we're gonna again fly solo again.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all because they took my landline out of
- 34:46Speaker 2: my office. We're talking about that today.
- 34:48Speaker 4: You can get a new phone.
- 34:50Speaker 12: Uh.
- 34:50Speaker 2: They asked if I needed one, and I was like,
- 34:52Speaker 2: I honestly never get any calls on my phone. If
- 34:55Speaker 2: you don't need He goes, well, if you don't really
- 34:57Speaker 2: use it, then we're not going to replace it. And
- 34:58Speaker 2: I was like, no, do you get I do.
- 35:01Speaker 4: But I never pick it up. I just let it
- 35:05Speaker 4: go to a voice.
- 35:05Speaker 6: What if it's like like mister craft or something, it
- 35:08Speaker 6: just leave a message.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Hi, I'm not in the office right now that I'm
- 35:14Speaker 5: still there with the way.
- 35:15Speaker 4: He If it's an internal call, I'll pick it up, okay,
- 35:18Speaker 4: you know, but if it's an outside number, I don't.
- 35:21Speaker 5: It might be some blogger trying to you know, get
- 35:23Speaker 5: get your ears.
- 35:24Speaker 4: It's usually excuse me trying to sell you something.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Excuse me, mister kersh. Would you have any job opportunities?
- 35:29Speaker 2: I have a podcast? Will you? I heard you're the
- 35:31Speaker 2: king Maker.
- 35:32Speaker 6: I don't want to tease people like that, because that
- 35:34Speaker 6: was me at one points. That's exactly how I have
- 35:37Speaker 6: to jump.
- 35:39Speaker 4: It's like, I was wondering if you could give me
- 35:41Speaker 4: your media management goals for twenty twenty six.
- 35:43Speaker 6: It's like click, oh God, goodbye, make good content.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, back to the again. Yeah, well it's
- 35:51Speaker 4: not uh, Nate, it's uh.
- 35:55Speaker 2: They're coming in fast and furious now they heard they had.
- 35:57Speaker 4: The KUIs in Idaho. What's up, tie, guys, Mike.
- 36:01Speaker 17: And Evan, you guys are the men both.
- 36:04Speaker 18: You have to get your mom McCoy.
- 36:06Speaker 6: If what what McCoy McCoy?
- 36:11Speaker 4: Oh, I thought you said something about their mom.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Say about your McCoy.
- 36:18Speaker 6: She said something about trading up for him.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Well, he's the guy with the knees, right, So what's
- 36:24Speaker 4: going on over there in Idaho with your phone?
- 36:27Speaker 19: I don't know.
- 36:28Speaker 9: Man, snow everywhere it's trying to be spring, and.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Really it sounds like it's so you want to you
- 36:34Speaker 4: want to trade up to get McCoy. But even with
- 36:37Speaker 4: those the knee situations.
- 36:38Speaker 9: That he's got, yeah, I mean he's falling so far.
- 36:42Speaker 14: He's the first round talent.
- 36:43Speaker 9: Give him a year to sit behind Carlton Davis, Christian
- 36:47Speaker 9: Gonzalo see how he does.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Okay, all right, thanks for the call, TI.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I don't hate it. No, I don't necessarily think I
- 36:52Speaker 2: would trade up if his knees are as bad as
- 36:54Speaker 2: Evan sort of described last night. But the idea of
- 36:57Speaker 2: the talent, if it you know, it's kind of like Gronk. Yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 2: you know, Gronk was the second round pick in name only, right,
- 37:05Speaker 2: everybody thought he was worthy of much higher than that.
- 37:08Speaker 2: But the back situation he didn't play his last year. Obviously,
- 37:11Speaker 2: that one worked out. There's a lot of other guys
- 37:13Speaker 2: that get taken like that that don't work out, like
- 37:15Speaker 2: Dominic Easley that Fred brought up last night. Sometimes they
- 37:18Speaker 2: don't work. But this is a guy who has talent.
- 37:21Speaker 2: But you know, the situation that Evan described last night
- 37:25Speaker 2: would scare the crap up.
- 37:27Speaker 6: He has talent. There's no doubt about that.
- 37:31Speaker 1: NFL draft the Cleveland Brown select Denzel Boston wide receiver Washington.
- 37:37Speaker 6: If it was just his ACL injury, Yeah, and not
- 37:43Speaker 6: when he got knee holes. When he got medically rechecked
- 37:46Speaker 6: at the combine and have cavities fill, they plagged another
- 37:50Speaker 6: issue with his knee and he still didn't even make
- 37:53Speaker 6: it back from the knee the ACL to begin with.
- 37:56Speaker 6: So he hasn't played a down of football since twenty
- 37:59Speaker 6: twenty four and now we've had like a very serious
- 38:04Speaker 6: need issue in multiple ways. I don't even know when
- 38:08Speaker 6: he's going to get drafted, and I feel bad for
- 38:10Speaker 6: the kid, like he's a really talented player.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Well, do we know all the thirty visits that the
- 38:14Speaker 4: Patriots had.
- 38:15Speaker 6: We know probably about like eighteen to twenty of them.
- 38:17Speaker 6: Any chance that he was one of them, there's a
- 38:20Speaker 6: chance it wasn't reported.
- 38:22Speaker 4: And is there a chance that the Patriots had their
- 38:24Speaker 4: excellent team of doctors check them out right to just
- 38:27Speaker 4: see what the status of the knee is.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it's be interesting how many visits he might have taken.
- 38:32Speaker 5: But I think it's a valid point. This is a
- 38:34Speaker 5: position that I feel like they might have to punt
- 38:36Speaker 5: on in the draft, or at least not today, and
- 38:39Speaker 5: so you get into tomorrow another you know, late day
- 38:41Speaker 5: three kind of flyer. But you look at the depth
- 38:43Speaker 5: art between the top behind the top three, I mean
- 38:45Speaker 5: it's Chucky Trees, Charles.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Woods, I mean he did okay, yea.
- 38:48Speaker 5: But after that, I mean Kendall of Lador that they signed,
- 38:50Speaker 5: Marcell's Dile who was okay, more of a slot.
- 38:52Speaker 6: Guy, got hurt, Kobe Minor, Brandon Crossley.
- 38:55Speaker 5: I mean it's there isn't much after the top three,
- 38:57Speaker 5: and I mean you can you know Charles Woods I
- 38:59Speaker 5: think was so, But ideally you'd love to plug in again.
- 39:03Speaker 6: So the question is, though, is like, are you looking
- 39:06Speaker 6: for somebody to just be the fourth rotational corner slash
- 39:10Speaker 6: special teamer and contribute in that way, or do you
- 39:13Speaker 6: really want to take a lottery ticket on McCoy that
- 39:16Speaker 6: you're actually going to hit on like a stud corner.
- 39:18Speaker 2: That you're hoping to replace Colin Davis with maybe in
- 39:21Speaker 2: the future.
- 39:21Speaker 6: Right, So, the the the Chiefs took our Mason Thomas
- 39:25Speaker 6: here at forty, So we have t J. Parker gone
- 39:28Speaker 6: off the edge or Mason Thomas gone off the edge.
- 39:32Speaker 6: I think what's interesting though about the edge picks so far,
- 39:34Speaker 6: Deucie is no Cashus. Howel knows Zion Young, so Cassius
- 39:38Speaker 6: Howel is still falling and two edge rushers have gone
- 39:40Speaker 6: ahead of him and Zion Young as well. Howel had.
- 39:46Speaker 20: Draft the Kansas City Chiefs Mason Thomas defensive end.
- 39:56Speaker 5: I don't want to say he was my favorite guy
- 39:58Speaker 5: in the draft, but I really loved him for the
- 40:00Speaker 5: word go.
- 40:00Speaker 6: I loved him at the combine.
- 40:02Speaker 5: I just thought he had a great presence and you know,
- 40:04Speaker 5: I mean, have we talked about him a lot. I
- 40:06Speaker 5: felt like his size was gonna knock him down like
- 40:08Speaker 5: he's gonna be more of a rusher. He's not gonna
- 40:10Speaker 5: be you know what we thought, or at least Zion Young.
- 40:13Speaker 5: At a certain point, you're like, well, Zion Young's gonna
- 40:14Speaker 5: you know, maybe he doesn't have the pass rush juice,
- 40:16Speaker 5: but he's gonna play those first two downs. I'm a
- 40:19Speaker 5: little surprised that our Mason Thomas went this early, but
- 40:21Speaker 5: I feel a little bit like validated that he's got
- 40:24Speaker 5: some Jews like him.
- 40:25Speaker 2: And Kansas City.
- 40:26Speaker 5: He's got he got some juice.
- 40:28Speaker 6: I mean, he's one of one of the more like aggressive,
- 40:32Speaker 6: you know, downhill type of full till rushers in this draft.
- 40:36Speaker 6: I think the interesting thing about Howls, you know, the
- 40:40Speaker 6: rumors of him falling out of the first round started
- 40:43Speaker 6: maybe last week, I would say, and you know, sort
- 40:45Speaker 6: of a couple of different things going on, maybe an
- 40:47Speaker 6: off the field red flag as well as the short arms.
- 40:50Speaker 6: And then Zion Young is a guy that's had some
- 40:51Speaker 6: off the field issues and maturity issues. He got into
- 40:55Speaker 6: a fight in Michigan State. You know, you had different
- 40:57Speaker 6: things that were going on with him, and I that
- 41:00Speaker 6: that's why he's falling. You know, it's such a great
- 41:03Speaker 6: edge class. If you can draft guy that doesn't have
- 41:06Speaker 6: red flags, you know that might be a little less
- 41:09Speaker 6: talented but still is still really good and doesn't have.
- 41:12Speaker 2: A Patrick Mahomes. I'm still not happy. There's three defensive players.
- 41:15Speaker 5: They've had three picks here in the top forty and
- 41:17Speaker 5: they went all defense, and I just we've talked about
- 41:20Speaker 5: it on the show all the time. This is what
- 41:22Speaker 5: happened to Brady. You ran out of weapons for him
- 41:24Speaker 5: and he can only do so much. How much are
- 41:26Speaker 5: you putting on Patrick Mahomes coming off a torney cl
- 41:29Speaker 5: the biggest injury of his career here in this middle
- 41:31Speaker 5: kind of turning point of the season.
- 41:33Speaker 2: I agree with Paul R.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Mason Thomas has played at Oklahoma and Rob is calling
- 41:38Speaker 4: from Oklahoma? What's up Rob?
- 41:42Speaker 18: Rob?
- 41:42Speaker 4: It's y'all is our.
- 41:47Speaker 17: Yeah, something like that.
- 41:48Speaker 14: So y'all were just talking about cash as hell.
- 41:50Speaker 6: So I just kind of had a well, the Bengals
- 41:52Speaker 6: just drafted him, so.
- 41:55Speaker 17: Man, that.
- 41:57Speaker 13: Yeahs so Zion Young he's probably the next guy.
- 42:03Speaker 14: In my opinion, he's not gonna be there at sixty three.
- 42:07Speaker 18: Maybe Yakis too.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Oh.
- 42:08Speaker 13: I also don't think we'll be there at sixty three.
- 42:11Speaker 13: What do y'all think of trading up? But we'd have
- 42:14Speaker 13: to probably give decent amounts to get to like fifty, right, Yeah,
- 42:17Speaker 13: like maybe a fourth and a fifth, maybe even a
- 42:20Speaker 13: sick sixth with it.
- 42:22Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, they'd have to give up a decent amount. Uh,
- 42:25Speaker 6: they probably could have done it, you know, at both
- 42:27Speaker 6: their force at the minimum. Now they only have the
- 42:29Speaker 6: one fourth. Uh. You know, I really like Gay Bacchus,
- 42:33Speaker 6: Like I think that that's a guy that has a
- 42:35Speaker 6: little bit more explosiveness, a little bit more fluidity and
- 42:38Speaker 6: ben than somebody like Zion young in the pass rush.
- 42:42Speaker 6: You know, obviously violent player and still powerful and aggressive player.
- 42:46Speaker 6: I don't know if he'll make it all the way
- 42:48Speaker 6: to the Patriots at sixty three. You know, Derek Moore
- 42:51Speaker 6: is still out there. I'm a fan of his. You know,
- 42:53Speaker 6: Keon Crawford, Joshn Barum another player that maybe was more
- 42:58Speaker 6: of like a third rounder that would last all the
- 43:00Speaker 6: way to sixty three. But at this point, you know,
- 43:03Speaker 6: Akis and Zion Younger the last two standing. Now that
- 43:06Speaker 6: the Bengals just took howl at forty one, yep, Ye'll
- 43:08Speaker 6: give it with the five guys.
- 43:11Speaker 14: With the way this draft is, I feel like giving
- 43:13Speaker 14: up that fourth fifth and even a sixth with our
- 43:16Speaker 14: second to move up to like fifty with the Lions
- 43:19Speaker 14: would kind of be the way to go, just the
- 43:21Speaker 14: way this draft is, and maybe hopefully get Jakis there
- 43:25Speaker 14: or Akis. I don't know about Zion Young, but that's
- 43:29Speaker 14: just my take.
- 43:30Speaker 4: I just want to give him.
- 43:31Speaker 14: I was hoping how it.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Was going to be there, but he chased them, all right,
- 43:35Speaker 4: Thanks Rob Well. Rob says the way this draft is,
- 43:39Speaker 4: are there guys outside of that first round that are
- 43:42Speaker 4: worth trading up for? Or is everybody sort of kind
- 43:45Speaker 4: of lumped together and you might as well just wait.
- 43:47Speaker 6: I think there's two guys that come to mind that
- 43:50Speaker 6: might be worth trading up for in the Saints to
- 43:52Speaker 6: Kristin Miller, the defensive tackle from Georgia, I i'd say
- 43:57Speaker 6: Acis might might be worth it. And if he's your flavor,
- 44:01Speaker 6: then Eli Stowers might be worth it too. Now it's
- 44:03Speaker 6: not my guy, but I know a lot of people
- 44:05Speaker 6: really like Eli Stowers. You know, they keep talking about
- 44:09Speaker 6: him and all the shows and stuff like that. Just
- 44:10Speaker 6: hanging out today. You know, the steal of Day two
- 44:14Speaker 6: is gonna be Eli Stowers so you know, I wonder
- 44:17Speaker 6: where he goes. And you know, there have been some
- 44:20Speaker 6: links to the Patriots with him and the Patriots potentially
- 44:22Speaker 6: being interested in him. So maybe maybe he's a guy
- 44:25Speaker 6: that they would trade up for.
- 44:27Speaker 5: I mean, two of the five guys I named that
- 44:28Speaker 5: I would like it the inedge position are now gone.
- 44:31Speaker 5: I wonder if this continues it's too rich for them
- 44:34Speaker 5: to trade up. Does that maybe flip it to the
- 44:36Speaker 5: tight end and say, look, I'd rather have you know,
- 44:38Speaker 5: to your point Fred earlier, I'd rather have the second
- 44:41Speaker 5: or third best tight end. Then now we're getting into
- 44:43Speaker 5: what edge seven, edge eight?
- 44:46Speaker 2: Right, we're getting down the list because the fact that
- 44:48Speaker 2: that two of them are already off the two you know,
- 44:50Speaker 2: actually three edge guys are already off. Now the gap
- 44:54Speaker 2: is still too big. Like you're not in the trade
- 44:56Speaker 2: up I don't think trade up territory yet, because that
- 45:01Speaker 2: is a kind of a big gap to try to
- 45:03Speaker 2: try to close. You might be in in Fred tight
- 45:05Speaker 2: end territory. Like maybe it's better, but those guys are
- 45:08Speaker 2: gonna start coming off the board too.
- 45:10Speaker 6: Yep, yep, there's one wildcard name I just throw out there.
- 45:13Speaker 2: CJ.
- 45:14Speaker 6: Allen from Georgia the linebacker. He still hasn't been taken yet.
- 45:18Speaker 6: And you know, we've talked a lot about off ball
- 45:21Speaker 6: linebacker for them as kind of a sneaky need. I
- 45:24Speaker 6: wonder if that's just one a player. I don't know
- 45:26Speaker 6: about trading up for an off ball linebacker, but if
- 45:29Speaker 6: he falls through the cracks here a little bit more,
- 45:31Speaker 6: you know, he might just be their best player available
- 45:34Speaker 6: on their board, and maybe they would get aggressive to
- 45:36Speaker 6: try to get him and get him in here to
- 45:38Speaker 6: replace Roberts Plane down the line. He's a really good player.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I would take that.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Let's go to Tim and Arlington. What's up? Tim?
- 45:47Speaker 18: Hey, you know what I'm gonna tell you right now.
- 45:50Speaker 18: There is a Hall of Fame player in this draft
- 45:53Speaker 18: right now. Gonna certify Lea be the best at his position.
- 45:57Speaker 18: Before I tell you who that is, I had to
- 45:59Speaker 18: hold somebody to.
- 46:00Speaker 17: Dude. You sit there, You talk up this Boston guy. Okay,
- 46:04Speaker 17: so slow, so slow makes Nikhil Harry look like Randy
- 46:07Speaker 17: Moss won't even run a forty. You were the same
- 46:09Speaker 17: man who said the guy that had the exactly measurable
- 46:12Speaker 17: big slow Trey law and Burke. You said the same thing.
- 46:16Speaker 17: I know people will disagree. You probably agreed with Michael
- 46:19Speaker 17: Lombardi when he said you'd be an idiot to take
- 46:22Speaker 17: dk Metcalf because who wants a fast guy where you
- 46:24Speaker 17: could take kaneil Harry To use his words, I'm gonna
- 46:28Speaker 17: tell you right now, we need to stop think. I
- 46:30Speaker 17: don't know what the obsession is with big and slow, Hey,
- 46:33Speaker 17: dre are even people call it in say we should
- 46:35Speaker 17: take that guy that ran a four to eight Repairo
- 46:37Speaker 17: or something from Miami last year. The person we need
- 46:41Speaker 17: to take. He's gonna be a certified Hall of Famer.
- 46:44Speaker 17: I don't know his name, but he's six foot five
- 46:46Speaker 17: and he runs a four to three. And I'm telling
- 46:49Speaker 17: you right now he's gonna do a lot better than
- 46:51Speaker 17: Boston or repair kaneil Harry. Well, I don't know his name,
- 46:55Speaker 17: but he's six foot five and he runs a four
- 46:57Speaker 17: to three.
- 46:57Speaker 6: Friends, it's Tim, Tim. You just you just roasted Deuce
- 47:01Speaker 6: for like you don't even know the guy's name. Come on, Tim,
- 47:05Speaker 6: come on, talk bras, come on, bring it, bring a
- 47:07Speaker 6: little bit more than that. Don't do my guy like that,
- 47:10Speaker 6: and then you come on like that.
- 47:12Speaker 2: I like you. I enjoyed the guy's name Tim. Usually
- 47:15Speaker 2: I'm on the other end of that.
- 47:16Speaker 17: I like that two point oh okay, what is it?
- 47:19Speaker 17: You know what?
- 47:20Speaker 4: Hey?
- 47:20Speaker 17: I run a four nine?
- 47:21Speaker 6: How about your draft me?
- 47:23Speaker 17: I don't know why you love Tim.
- 47:24Speaker 6: Why don't you go go tell me what the guy's
- 47:26Speaker 6: name is? Please?
- 47:27Speaker 17: Yeah, you know what, you do the research?
- 47:31Speaker 2: No, no, you want to Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 5: You want Tayekwon Thornton two point oh right, that's what
- 47:34Speaker 5: you want.
- 47:35Speaker 6: You do the research. Go get your one hundred and
- 47:38Speaker 6: seventy pound receiver.
- 47:39Speaker 5: He gets broken in half because keep over the middlem Risks.
- 47:42Speaker 17: Know everything like you're some kind of big shot. You
- 47:45Speaker 17: wind up being on.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Such a right.
- 47:48Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 47:49Speaker 6: Please, I just want to know the name like I do.
- 47:52Speaker 17: You can look at your stats. Hey, you know what
- 47:54Speaker 17: I'm gonna call in at the end of the season.
- 47:57Speaker 17: Better stats is Boston.
- 47:58Speaker 6: Tim. You don't even know the guys.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I know who I mean him to, Well all know
- 48:04Speaker 2: his name.
- 48:05Speaker 17: You know who else called me crazy? Andy Hart called
- 48:08Speaker 17: me crazy when I called him when I was in
- 48:09Speaker 17: college and I said that Rob Gronkowski would be a
- 48:12Speaker 17: better receiver.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Did oh well he agreed with no way.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Andy Hart called you crazy for anything positive you said
- 48:17Speaker 2: about Gronk.
- 48:18Speaker 6: Andy Hart wants, I just want the knee.
- 48:21Speaker 2: You're just give me the name, go back.
- 48:25Speaker 17: You know what you do the research.
- 48:28Speaker 3: But you did.
- 48:29Speaker 2: How can I research the player that you like when
- 48:32Speaker 2: you don't know who.
- 48:33Speaker 6: Is you said, a six foot five receiver who ran
- 48:35Speaker 6: a four to three. There's like five of those.
- 48:36Speaker 4: I don't know which one that is the one that
- 48:38Speaker 4: has the best stas at the end of the season.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Well, that's that's what he's setting up. Good.
- 48:45Speaker 7: I love.
- 48:48Speaker 2: I love the passion, my favorite call. I think we've
- 48:51Speaker 2: ever gotten it. I wanted to the side by side comparison,
- 48:53Speaker 2: But how do you compare it with with like an
- 48:55Speaker 2: imaginary player.
- 48:59Speaker 6: That he's got to be? That was a bit right,
- 49:01Speaker 6: he's got to be.
- 49:02Speaker 2: But it was it was, it was well done.
- 49:05Speaker 6: That was I thought that unless he was doing a
- 49:07Speaker 6: bit and the work, ye had to have been talking
- 49:10Speaker 6: about Brad.
- 49:10Speaker 2: I think, like, yeah, I mean I was. I was
- 49:16Speaker 2: very entertained until he said that.
- 49:18Speaker 6: He told him you when you get your back, he
- 49:23Speaker 6: loved Thank you, Fred. I'm just makes fun of about Gronk.
- 49:29Speaker 2: I mean, that's how that's how strong Andy was in
- 49:32Speaker 2: in the camp I'm gonna not see it at period,
- 49:37Speaker 2: all period.
- 49:39Speaker 6: Greg, real quick though, that's like all of our worst nightmares, right,
- 49:43Speaker 6: Like you just say a guy is a bum, and
- 49:46Speaker 6: we all have opinions, and we all talked for a
- 49:48Speaker 6: living at the end of the world, and then and
- 49:49Speaker 6: then all of a sudden he goes on to be
- 49:51Speaker 6: the greatest tit end of all time. That's my that's
- 49:54Speaker 6: mine and Bart's worst nightmare on the envelopes.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I've been wrong a million times on players, ev but
- 50:03Speaker 2: I can't really think of being wrong like I liked
- 50:07Speaker 2: Remember Vernon Golston was a guy. I really liked him.
- 50:09Speaker 2: They end up being a bust Okay, whatever you can
- 50:12Speaker 2: do that, Like, oh, I like him, I think he's
- 50:13Speaker 2: a good player, ends up not being a good player,
- 50:15Speaker 2: or the flip side, maybe you know what, I didn't
- 50:18Speaker 2: think he was going to be very good.
- 50:19Speaker 4: I can't.
- 50:21Speaker 2: I can't think of a guy that was as strong
- 50:25Speaker 2: that that someone can't play and ended up being the
- 50:28Speaker 2: very best player ever at his position. Like that, Just
- 50:33Speaker 2: the juxtaposition of those two, Like Jacob.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Rodriguez goes to the Dolphins here at forty three, can
- 50:39Speaker 6: I have a hot take there? Zach Thomas. You don't
- 50:42Speaker 6: like them.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Him, he had a great year last year.
- 50:45Speaker 6: Didn't love him like all over the place. You know
- 50:47Speaker 6: what it is, though, It's not Jacob Rodriguez's fault. It's
- 50:50Speaker 6: that it's that all these linebackers like nobody wants to
- 50:55Speaker 6: like actually hit anybody anymore. Like you know, all these
- 50:58Speaker 6: linebackers that fly over the brand and spike. They're around
- 51:01Speaker 6: the ball, and they played well in coverage and it's
- 51:04Speaker 6: all cool. It's it's fun to watch and and they're
- 51:06Speaker 6: talented and all that kind of stuff. Seven yeah, yeah, seven.
- 51:11Speaker 6: Trust me, I know everybody throws the seventh maker thing.
- 51:15Speaker 2: You couldn't help every time you saw it.
- 51:19Speaker 6: It might be my drunk. I might be wrong, but
- 51:21Speaker 6: I just you know, when you when somebody pulls, you know,
- 51:24Speaker 6: guard pulls up to the second level on power, is
- 51:27Speaker 6: someone going to meet the guard or they're all going to.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Be Are you saying that he flat out can't play? No,
- 51:32Speaker 2: that this is not going to be your grunk.
- 51:34Speaker 6: I'm just saying stylistically, like I just I didn't it's
- 51:37Speaker 6: not my thing.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Well, I mean that's all that breed of linebacker is
- 51:41Speaker 4: getting more and more rare.
- 51:43Speaker 6: It is it's and it's too bad. And you know,
- 51:46Speaker 6: I think what we're seeing, though, Fred, is that because
- 51:49Speaker 6: of all the lighter boxes that teams are playing nowadays,
- 51:52Speaker 6: having guys that either on the defensive line that can
- 51:55Speaker 6: take back gaps and can control space. Uh like that
- 51:59Speaker 6: I think has become a little bit more valuable because
- 52:01Speaker 6: everybody's playing with six in the box and the two
- 52:03Speaker 6: high safeties and all this different kinds of stuff. So
- 52:06Speaker 6: if you're playing at least a gap short, if not
- 52:09Speaker 6: a gap and a half short at times, uh in
- 52:12Speaker 6: the run game, and you need people to take those
- 52:14Speaker 6: gaps back and uh, you know these linebackers just like
- 52:17Speaker 6: they're all safety clearly did box safeties ten years ago.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's too bad.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Eldred, North Carolina.
- 52:23Speaker 5: Eldred, don't yell at me, Eldred, I've been scolded.
- 52:26Speaker 21: Oh yell at job that y'all love you. But but
- 52:29Speaker 21: then again we have half some yelling match. But I'm
- 52:32Speaker 21: gonna I'm gonna rescue that collar. Kep talking about bravel. Yeah,
- 52:35Speaker 21: everybody got them lifted a six four.
- 52:37Speaker 6: Derek's annoying.
- 52:41Speaker 21: But but but like I said before, y'all cover the team,
- 52:46Speaker 21: so you have to go along with the pigs. But
- 52:48Speaker 21: come on, really a tackle. I know you say you
- 52:51Speaker 21: need a tackle. You gotta hooked for the right side
- 52:54Speaker 21: or the twin teckle that you paid the money for.
- 52:56Speaker 21: You can get her edge. On the first pick? Did
- 52:59Speaker 21: the sucker pick baby wide receiver tidy In because next
- 53:03Speaker 21: year is the better draft, so you can't find a
- 53:06Speaker 21: good right tackle next year. This is supposed to be
- 53:09Speaker 21: a better draft. I didn't like to pick, but whatever.
- 53:12Speaker 2: But I'm a little hurt Aldred that that hurt my feelings.
- 53:17Speaker 21: Well, Paul is like this, bro, I love you to
- 53:19Speaker 21: death when we but when we drafted to kill Harry,
- 53:23Speaker 21: I told you.
- 53:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you did pray up the gate.
- 53:26Speaker 2: You did and if you recall, I did not welcome
- 53:28Speaker 2: to Harry picked from day one.
- 53:30Speaker 6: That's why i'm a little.
- 53:32Speaker 2: I'm a little, I mean because I don't and always
- 53:34Speaker 2: just tell you I think the picks are great.
- 53:36Speaker 4: And Eldred like timmis sounds like he's up your alley
- 53:39Speaker 4: because his thing, his main gripe is these bigger fifty
- 53:43Speaker 4: to fifty ball you know, catch guys who cares, you know,
- 53:47Speaker 4: like you want somebody who can break coverage, get open,
- 53:52Speaker 4: beat people. Flat out right.
- 53:54Speaker 21: But but yeah, yeah, but pray listen, in the Super Bowl,
- 53:59Speaker 21: we paid a better defense with corners that was tall.
- 54:02Speaker 21: They can run. Our receivers could run. But when they
- 54:04Speaker 21: did break it loose Drake and his butt drags. So
- 54:07Speaker 21: you need somebody that can bust looting and with with
- 54:09Speaker 21: Drake and drop back there kind of quick light. But
- 54:12Speaker 21: like I said, if if you've got a secretary that
- 54:14Speaker 21: could cover your whole receiving crew, somebody need to rethink something.
- 54:18Speaker 21: That's why I'm looking at for once outside the box.
- 54:22Speaker 21: You know, get somebody tall, fast outside who knows nobody
- 54:25Speaker 21: be a J. Brown, but Paul, not Paul, but Elliott Wolf.
- 54:30Speaker 21: Do not seek Sweetball Rosman, cause the Packers, not the
- 54:34Speaker 21: pack The RAM is going somewhere a corp.
- 54:38Speaker 6: He didn't a little bit.
- 54:40Speaker 21: Trouble, trouble with the with the lowest stuff.
- 54:43Speaker 17: So at the end of the year.
- 54:44Speaker 21: But by June, if he ain't there, guess what the
- 54:47Speaker 21: Ram's gonna do because they're only one play away from
- 54:50Speaker 21: Super Bowl and will get him there.
- 54:53Speaker 6: All right, swooping and get a Brown.
- 54:55Speaker 2: I'm not dismissing the Rams and a J.
- 54:58Speaker 6: Brown.
- 54:58Speaker 2: That's all just with the whole originally they were interested, Yeah,
- 55:01Speaker 2: the whole Ty Simpson pick. You know, everybody kind of
- 55:05Speaker 2: thought they were going to try to get another weapon
- 55:07Speaker 2: for Matthew Stafford. You know, I don't think they have
- 55:11Speaker 2: a I'm not sure. I don't think they have a
- 55:13Speaker 2: second round pick. So I'm not dis missing them as
- 55:18Speaker 2: a possibility. I mean, I'm believing all the reports that
- 55:21Speaker 2: the Patriots and.
- 55:22Speaker 6: Patriots are picking at sixty one.
- 55:23Speaker 2: They are picking at sixty one.
- 55:25Speaker 6: I The only thing that I would say to that, Paul,
- 55:27Speaker 6: is that if and if this is already a handshake
- 55:31Speaker 6: deal between the Patriots and the Eagles for aj Brown,
- 55:35Speaker 6: which is what all the insiders are making it sound
- 55:37Speaker 6: like it is, if that is true and the whole
- 55:41Speaker 6: league is aware that that deal is consummated, and then
- 55:44Speaker 6: the Eagles pull out of that deal and make a
- 55:47Speaker 6: deal with the Rams, I understand. It's not like Howie
- 55:49Speaker 6: Rosenman is going to be you know, dragged through the
- 55:51Speaker 6: streets or anything. But it's not a great look. No,
- 55:54Speaker 6: it's not a great look by the Eagles. And I
- 55:57Speaker 6: wonder if you know they would do something like that.
- 56:00Speaker 2: And I'm not saying it's going to happen. I'm just saying,
- 56:02Speaker 2: I Simpson pick has been on my mind all day
- 56:07Speaker 2: for the Rams. You know, I have a little soft
- 56:10Speaker 2: spot for the Rams.
- 56:11Speaker 6: So the Lions took Derek Moore, so another edge rusher.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I see Mike Giardi just tweeted a little while ago
- 56:18Speaker 2: that you know, he's pretty sure that there were people
- 56:21Speaker 2: in Foxborough who really liked more.
- 56:22Speaker 6: Okay, I'm one of them.
- 56:24Speaker 2: And the Ravens.
- 56:26Speaker 6: The Ravens continue their streak of taking controversial edge rushers,
- 56:29Speaker 6: and they took Zion Young. So yeah, so they took
- 56:32Speaker 6: Zion Young. So these edge rushers, now we've had Parker Howell,
- 56:38Speaker 6: Thomas Young, Moore all go in the first half of
- 56:42Speaker 6: the second round were only on pick forty four, So
- 56:45Speaker 6: eleven picks in we've had a bunch of too much
- 56:50Speaker 6: too yeah, forty five R.
- 56:52Speaker 5: Well, it means look Achas Crawford to my other favorites,
- 56:55Speaker 5: they're still there.
- 56:56Speaker 6: Crawford feels like a guy that that might be their.
- 56:58Speaker 4: Type of their only on the thirteenth pick.
- 57:02Speaker 6: You know, I think once you get past that, there's
- 57:04Speaker 6: still guys available that might be a little bit more
- 57:07Speaker 6: situational players though, like Art Rore mellow height Joshan Barrom.
- 57:11Speaker 6: I really like I think he's you know, got some
- 57:13Speaker 6: real upside. But you know, he's on the ball, off
- 57:15Speaker 6: the ball, kind of hybrid player that's still kind of
- 57:18Speaker 6: working through rushing the passer on the ball. You know,
- 57:21Speaker 6: dds they're gonna take him because I didn't put him
- 57:23Speaker 6: on the big board, so naturally they're going to take him.
- 57:27Speaker 6: Uh Dan, So maybe maybe he'll be uh you know,
- 57:33Speaker 6: in that category two. But we're we're at it. We're
- 57:36Speaker 6: getting to the point now where some of these d
- 57:38Speaker 6: dressers are really starting to fly off the board a
- 57:40Speaker 6: little bit.
- 57:40Speaker 4: Well, Tim really woke up Patriot's Nation. We got a
- 57:44Speaker 4: slew of emails about Tim Chris with a T, I
- 57:47Speaker 4: A N. I'll say this for Tim, he's committed. Wow,
- 57:50Speaker 4: he should hook up with Christian in La. Another Tim writes,
- 57:54Speaker 4: and that dude needs to have another It was Nikhil Harry,
- 57:58Speaker 4: not Nick Kneil.
- 58:00Speaker 2: He was making.
- 58:03Speaker 6: Part that made sentence. I got that.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Joe says, imagine being the discount version of Christian from
- 58:08Speaker 4: La Cheers to your patient, Christian. John says, please let
- 58:14Speaker 4: him off the phone before he gives himself a hearted
- 58:16Speaker 4: that I know I was still a better caller than
- 58:18Speaker 4: the Cali douche.
- 58:20Speaker 2: We know that straight catching, straight totter.
- 58:25Speaker 4: Chris says he was trying to say the one, the
- 58:28Speaker 4: only BC's finest Isaiah Bond Bond.
- 58:33Speaker 6: Isaiah Bond plays for Cleveland Browns. Yeah, that's the Texas Widers.
- 58:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he says, I meant to say Alabama via Texas.
- 58:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Issue right, and.
- 58:43Speaker 4: Then Andrew says, someone tell Eldred to pipe down about
- 58:46Speaker 4: Brazil already. This is the same guy who loved Quentin
- 58:49Speaker 4: Johnson and a d Mitchell. Don't forget he was against
- 58:52Speaker 4: picking may shut up, dude, just to be weird, to.
- 58:55Speaker 6: Be fair to Eldred. Quentin Johnson's had a little bit
- 58:57Speaker 6: of a renaissance. He had a decent year last year.
- 59:00Speaker 6: We were both wrong with Ady Mitchell. Ady Mitchell might
- 59:03Speaker 6: not be good at football, but Quentin Johnston, I would say, had.
- 59:07Speaker 2: I think the Jets would agree. They've been doing nothing
- 59:08Speaker 2: but requiring pass catchers.
- 59:10Speaker 6: Quinn Johnson had a frisky year last year for the Chargers.
- 59:13Speaker 6: He wasn't terrible.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Who is the guy that gets just got chosen by
- 59:16Speaker 2: the Bucks? Oh, Josiah Trump.
- 59:18Speaker 6: Josiah Trott to the linebacker, just like unbelievable run defending
- 59:22Speaker 6: linebacker over C. J.
- 59:23Speaker 4: Allen.
- 59:24Speaker 6: Though, yeah, Jen's in a little bit of a free
- 59:27Speaker 6: hill junior to another.
- 59:28Speaker 2: One good blood lines. That's Siah Trotter.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Is he related to his son?
- 59:34Speaker 2: He's in you know that kind of similar kind of
- 59:36Speaker 2: player too, Okay, I mean I don't know if he's
- 59:38Speaker 2: as good John was pretty good.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Now back on the hotline eight five five pats five hundred,
- 59:42Speaker 4: Alex is in Virginia. Hey Alex, how are you doing good?
- 59:49Speaker 19: A couple of questions, one specifically for Evan. One, Evan
- 59:52Speaker 19: you had mentioned wanting to attend the traders to see Jon.
- 59:55Speaker 19: Who else do you think is worth trading was still available?
- 59:58Speaker 19: And two he really want brazl or Brazil or whatever
- 1:00:02Speaker 19: in the first. Getting him in the end, will you
- 1:00:06Speaker 19: shave your head or do something to celebration first.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: I'll be pretty excited. But you know, at the AJ
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: Brown stuff, I don't know if they're going to draft
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: a receiver this high, but you know that'd be pretty cool.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: I feel like that's a player that I really gravitated towards.
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: And to get him all the way down at sixty
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: three is later than I thought. You know, just looking
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: at the board right now, you know, Emmanuel McNeil Warren
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: still hasn't been drafted, which is weird to me. I
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: don't know what's going on with that Anthony Hill junior
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: you mentioned deuced.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I really like Anthony Hill.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: Yeah, Eli Stower's but I go with Akis and CJ.
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: Allen in terms of guys that they might be interested
- 1:00:42Speaker 6: in and actually trading up for at this point in
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: the draft. So we'll see. I'm wondering what's going on
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: with CJ. Allen. This feels like we're if he goes
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: outside the top fifty, we're like in real free fall range.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Gold days right in that area too. I'm just looking
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: at three linebackers and five players span there in the
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: you know around.
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: Yeah, Jacob is going to be a good pro. He
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: might take some time to develop some of his colleag is.
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: Play processing and you know, recognition and things like that
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: needs some work. But once he gets pointed in the
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: right direction, he's he's a really really good tackler.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: All right, thanks Alex, thanks for calling in. What's the
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: deal with Avian Terrell? Did he get Yeah?
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: No, he's another that's following He has some real speed concerns. Fred,
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: a guy that a lot of people were worried about
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: his long speed. You know, maybe he goes and plays inside,
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: plays the nickel in order to sort of mitigate the
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: fact that he can't stay over the top of the
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: vertical route. But I don't know if there's anything else
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: going on that we don't know about. But just from
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: a football standpoint, you know, to explain the slide, I
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: would say it's probably related to play speed.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Ryan writes in he says he's from Alexandria, Virginia. My
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: seventeen year old daughter is watching her first draft. When
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: I put on what I still call PFW on YouTube,
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: she said, so, who are all the old guys? I
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: told her the one without the leg invented podcasts.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: You got that right.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: You don't have any stickers on that thing, Fred, you
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: gotta get some stickers on that, you know, get some
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: get some decorations, maybe a little license. I don't know
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: if people saw this is officially Is this officially sanctioned?
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: Yea drake may may may may gotta say it correctly
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: and good?
- 1:02:20Speaker 11: You like it?
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: I like it?
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Okay, Sure that's how I should go.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Double T shirts back in high school should look a
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: little bigger.
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: Is Drake? Does Drake get like? Is he getting like
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: a royalty for this?
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: Is an nfl p A T shirt. He's not an
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: NFL properties teach, So heet nfl p A put this out.
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: So he's getting that coin for that ship.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: Must be getting something.
- 1:02:39Speaker 6: YEA good for him.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: Imagine somebody making making money off his shirt with just
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: your name on the front of it.
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: Yeah, well, making money off of bake good.
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: Imagine making money off of a twenty eight to three
- 1:02:50Speaker 6: fair enough.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you're the king.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: I wish it was that easy though, just put his
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: name on there.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: So maybe it is Logan and Myrtle. If there's no
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: good head rushers left, and with the aj Brown speculation,
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: what position do you think they'll draft? I could see
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: tight end, but might be a little early for one
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: at that pick.
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: I wouldn't go there yet. I wouldn't say we're in
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: the range of there's no good ed rushers left. You know,
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: Gay Bacchus is still there, Crawford's still there, Height's still there,
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: bar Im still there. Dds is still there. There's not
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: no good ed rushers left. If it's not tight end
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: or ed dresser. I still I'm going to continue to
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: bang the linebacker table. I just wonder if that's a
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: spot that you know, maybe off ball linebackers. Sometimes that
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: value pushes off ball linebackers down the board a little bit,
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: just the positional value of it all, and maybe they
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: get a guy that's rated really high but just doesn't
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: play a premium position and they're able to steal them
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: at sixty three.
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: Okay, all right, let's see back to the emails. Chris
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: with a T. I n again for the record, Jumble
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: wanted to draft Gronk and Jimmy Graham for the dynamic
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: tight end duo. I tell you our listeners keep receipts.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: I didn't remember the Jimmy Graham part, but now that
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: he says it.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: He's he was was that the same year it was
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: an It was. It was a very uncommon love that
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: he had for Gronk way before anybody else. Like I'd
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: make fun of him for a lot of things, as
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: you guys know, that's not one of them. That's not
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: one of them.
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: The germ Jeremy Bernard to the Steelers, the Steelers are
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: just good at drafting wide receivers. Apparently he was one
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: of the like easily one of the highest floor receivers,
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: if that's a thing. You know, like a guy that
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: just felt like he was going to be like a steady,
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: good NFL player for a while. I have like Robert Woodsy,
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: you know, like whor it's just not flashy, it's not
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: like he's the number one guy necessarily, but just a
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: a really solid, well rounded player. It got some versatility
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: to him as well.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: I agree that they do that, but like they don't
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: always work. Like I would have thought everything he just
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: said about Jermy Bernard, I would have Sai Roman Wilson
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: a couple of years ago, and he's been really quiet.
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, yeah, Bernard's a little bit bigger than than
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: Roalm and Wilson.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Yeah, not necessarily comparing the players, just like good you know,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: day two kind of receivers. Yeah, with a high floor
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: and really they've gotten nothing out of them. A lot
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: of people I blame that on Aaron Rodgers because that's me.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: A lot of people just like gushed about Jeremy Bernard's
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: just like consistency, like just kind of good at everything,
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: you know, but not physical, not elite at anything, but
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: just like really well rounded and polished.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: Does anyone know what chuffed means? I was shuffed.
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: I don't want to chafed.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Maybe we're supposed to be.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: I think this is a good thing, but anyway, Drew writes,
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: and I will be chuffed to bits if they trade
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: for a J.
- 1:05:43Speaker 11: Brown.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: But doesn't all of this build up in anticipation make
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: anyone else nervous? I feel like the whole A J.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: Brown thing is just going to fizzle out, like it
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: does every year. We're gonna have the same wide receiver
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: corps we might have right now during the season. I
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: would not be chuffed to bits if everything just fizzled out.
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: It's a tradition formal adjective meaning very pleased, delighted, or proud.
- 1:06:03Speaker 11: Shuffed, shuffed.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: So we're getting a little cross the pondling go there.
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: Uh yeah, But you know, one thing I was thinking about, though,
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: is like, what if this is the case, what.
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: Is Antonio Brown.
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: It?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Why can't I do that?
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: We have a mental block? What does a J.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: Brown doing this month with the OTAs at Philadelphia? And
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: you know, like Josh mc dams, like, I'd love to
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: get in my playbook if this is really going to
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: happen does he like go to practice and not really
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: do anything. Do we play a charade that he's there
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: and he's doing just like it's business as usual.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: You know, it's a weird kind of.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: Life, like some playbook just like magically showed up on
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: his door, right, you know, like it's.
- 1:06:40Speaker 17: No, I hear you.
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: But like you know, this time of year, some guys
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: don't go to any of that stuff, especially veteran players
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: like AJ Brown. You know, they go train on their
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: own somewhere and get ready for the season. We're still
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: pretty far away. I mean you would like to have
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: a man obviously by training camp, I would say ideally,
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: But it is also a J. Brown. So if you
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: trade for him in August, I'm not going to be
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: like it's too late.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I just I guess I wonder more about
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: are the reports of him being at the facility, being
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: around you know, it's usually away and.
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: No reports on the contrary, He hasn't he hasn't. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: Tim wants to know if we would support a big
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: Citrus Dominique orange pick if the edges are gone.
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: Oh yeah sure. I mean you can't have to convince
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: me I'm big Citrus. I mean that guy's he's big citrus,
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: Like the nickname is cool and he's a cool player.
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: Obviously not going to be much of a pass rusher though,
- 1:07:35Speaker 6: I mean that you're drafting him. I had to come
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: in and stop the run. I hear what you're saying, Deuce,
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Like probably third round is you know, or later is
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: where you're thinking of getting like the Tonga replacement. You know,
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: this feels a little early, but maybe if they're you know,
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: they do see all the edge rushers go here that
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: are fit this range of the draft. Maybe, I mean,
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: there's no other tight ends that have gone besides his
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: Dek still so Claire Stower's Dell b Broush. All those
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: guys are still available.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: So but are you confident that they'll be there? Because

- 1:13:32Speaker 4: NYPD Blue?
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I know of the show. He was
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: one of a child actor and then he was in
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: NYPD Blue as an adult little leathery.
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: But still I know of the show. I don't know
- 1:13:43Speaker 6: who that is.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: That's unfortunate.
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: We did a bit in a short movie I made
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: when I was in LA where at my my part
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: was that I was rick Schroeder's stand in.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: That was my claim to fame.
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: We had like a bunch of photoshop pictures with my
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: big head put in and like you know, the cast
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: silver Spoons, hold me define Gilmore made brothers.
- 1:14:02Speaker 6: That's fine. I don't know if you know. But the
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: brothers or brothers and they're reunited on the Atlanta Falcons.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: They both played corner, so they're gonna play together.
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: It's gonna be confusing for the defense Evan does not
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: stand for for volity.
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: How fun is that?
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: And why is it me and you are last night?
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: You had a furniture draft last night. Now he's twenty
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: four hours later. You can't even that's.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: The second, third, fourth, This is the sweet spot.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: This is already told. You make your money so far,
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: every day that I've heard that we're close, we're gonna
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: get close.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: They're gonna found that one. No, Fred, you got to
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: hear though, Evan, because we had a lot of time today.
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: You got to hear about the Evan barr phone call,
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: debrief call last night after it didn't go their way.
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: The two boys.
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: To catch twenty two boys consoling each other in the
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: dark times when they didn't have the.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Really is amazing. With all the mock drafts that they
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: pump out for that they can't help.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: I did two mock drafts.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: Can you imagine Evan, Evan and Barth back in our
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: day when you're at like the house phone. Oh yeah,
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: the amount of time they would the phone and.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: Yeah, after each day of the draft. We've been doing
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: this years. Uh we uh, we always have a phone
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: calluse because we're not together on draft weekend, which is
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: about one o'clock in the morning. I would say when
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: I was driving home from and we were both driving
- 1:15:30Speaker 6: home from the stadium, and we just decided that we
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: need to not let the fact that we overlooked the
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: player to impact our take on the player. It's not
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: fair to Caleb Loomu. It's our fault. We didn't do
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: our jobs.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: You are listening to this, right, That's why.
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: I am that that's our fault, that we didn't do
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: our jobs well enough. So you don't stick to.
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: Your guns and say, you know, all right until proven wrong.
- 1:16:00Speaker 6: Yes, yes to in terms of the evaluation, but we
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: want to also be right about who they like. You know,
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: that's a probably more important yeah, but it's more important
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: in general. I mean, like we're not they're the they're
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: the team, and they're though they're the ones that are
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: the experts. Really, so, uh, it's it's our fault. We
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: we left up. We should have talked about him more.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: Who was more upset? You were both? I would say,
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: no question.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: I would say he was more upset that we didn't
- 1:16:31Speaker 6: talk about him enough, and I was more upset about
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: the players. So I think that that and that's usually
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: how we look we do it, you know, like usually
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: he's trying to read the board and read.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: The does say like, you know, he doesn't live with
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: his parents.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: No, it's gonna be, it's gonna be. Okay, this is
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: always next year now.
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: I remember. The the most one was obviously after they
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: drafted Cole String drafted to the street after they drafted
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: Cold Strange. We spent about two hours on the phone
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: off that night and Jess was sleeping in the other
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: room and she finally came in because this is when
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: I was with Clintis, so we were doing it virtually.
- 1:17:13Speaker 6: And finally she came into like our office slash whatever
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: room and was like, it's two o'clock in the morning,
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: like go to your coming, go to bed, Like what
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: are we doing? And I was like, they drafted cold
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: Strange and she was like, come on, like we need
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: to Like what do you come on? And gets the
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: dump little buddy. He still married me, So I love.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: The passion, but it does worry me. Jane and Springfield
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: writes in big Ee might be worse than Belichick at receivers.
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: This guy pits busts every year. Question for the wide
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: receiver guru big Ee, who was a better rookie year
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: Nikhil Harry or last year's Randy Moss, Dante Thornton, biggest
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: hypocrite around that this guy blasts people for not being
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: able to draft receivers when he'd have the same, if
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: not worse track record.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: I just would like to see something. I'm gonna defend
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: Biggie a little bit. I'd like to see some of
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: the players that he likes in better situations. Yeah, you know,
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: like Evan pointed out, Quentin Johnston, all of a sudden,
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: he kind of looked a little bit more competent last year,
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: with you know, Jim Hobbaugh being there and Herbert having
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: a really good years. Still not great, probably still a
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: little bit of a disappointment, but yeah, not quite not
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: quite busted either.
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: What was Biggie kicking and screaming all the way to
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: the three Super Bowls that they won last because they
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: didn't have the receiver and.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Like was just say, this is the this is the mic.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: I can't stand with that. No, but I'm not no serious.
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: As was he complaining all season long?
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: And then you know when they got to the Super
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: Bowl and they won it, But the whole time he
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: was just limiting that they didn't have the number round.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: When was that like the early ones?
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: I four around early, but they were grounk like they
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: had the number one guy satch big EIAs. Yes, when
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: you when you're like that, that's it, Like that's it,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: Like I know that that's like the biggest misnomer, Like
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: oh they won all these times, they didn't have it. No,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: they have the greatest player who's ever played the position,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: was the focal point of the passing.
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: I I just don't Biggie say that about Gronk, Like
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: I just think I never hear him say, like, you know,
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: they had Gronk, like, I just.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: He's he loved the receiver, and I'm sure he would
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: tell you this, like, you know, instead of Chris Hogan,
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: instead of Brandon le felt like I'm sure that there's
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: like a laundry list of guys that he would have rather.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: That's the kind that's the tip.
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: There's no note though that they could have done that,
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: like they could have. Of course they had a better
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: receiver in that spot, but like, let's not you know,
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: Julian Edelman got a red jacket like that. That's you know,
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: I know he's not a Hall of Pro Football Hall
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: of Famer like Gronk is gonna be. But they had
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: Edelman for all the twenty tens too, and he's a
- 1:19:43Speaker 6: pretty darn good player, like.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: He really likes like, you know, the the variety they
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: had in that. You know, when they had Gronk and
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: they had Edelman, they had a Mondola. You know, then
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: Brandon Cooks gets at it in you know, it's a
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: little bit more of a dynamic threat. So there were
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: times that he wasn't always unhappy.
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: Yeah, we won the Super Bowl, but we still got
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: that Bunkers Hogan and got warm up secondary.
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: So the Jets drafted DiAngelo Pons, the cornerback from Indiana.
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: Am I allowed to say the Jets are kind of
- 1:20:10Speaker 6: having a good draft. Because the Jets are having a
- 1:20:12Speaker 6: good draft.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: This isn't the first time that they may have won
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: the draft.
- 1:20:15Speaker 6: Okay, well, they they got David Bailey, Kenyinsid. Yeah, Omar
- 1:20:20Speaker 6: Cooper junior. They're doubling up on Indiana guys. Now. Now
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: they have D'Angelo Ponds as well, who's a very good
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: corner one. A you know, smaller, you know, a little
- 1:20:29Speaker 6: bit undersize, but you can maybe play in the slot.
- 1:20:32Speaker 6: But I also think he's got enough speed and enough
- 1:20:35Speaker 6: size to play on the outside, kind of you know,
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: like a Jonathan Jones type.
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: No doubt they probably are winning the draft so far.
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: Well, you had to prepare yourself for this because they
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: got a ton of picks there.
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: Next year, Yeah, they don't have any they don't have
- 1:20:49Speaker 6: another pick now until the fourth round. But they have
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: three fourth rounders. But they now they go from this
- 1:20:54Speaker 6: pick in the second round D'Angelo pons at fifty to
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: the third pick of the fourth round, which is in
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: the one you know, early one hundreds, right, So they
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: have a ways to go in between picks now. But Bailey,
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: Sadik Cooper Junior Ponds is a hall for New York.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: And to Fred's point, and I say this all the
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: time about the Jets, like I pick on him for
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: a lot of things. The draft in the players hasn't
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: been the problem. It's figuring out the quarterback and figuring
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: out the coach. And I don't know that they're any
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: closer to either one of those things right now. The
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: only thing that I would say it provides a little
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: glimmer of hope for them is those three first round
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: picks next year. So if they can get a semblance
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: of an offense around Geno Smith now, and that could
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: be an attractive offense to draft a quarterback in. Like
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: let's just say for arguments sake, Geno Smith plays like
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: he did two years ago in Seattle, then theoretically you
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: could run it back with him again in twenty seven
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: when you draft a guy and sort of slow play
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: him into the mix with Garrett Wilson and Omar Cooper
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: and Kenyon Sadik and Breese Hall and have a pretty
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: good offensive line with two young tackles that have been
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: pretty good so far. Yeah, it's not the worst plan. Yeah, Now,
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: I'll believe it when I see it.
- 1:22:00Speaker 6: I'm with Fred, Yeah, I mean Garret Wilson, Omar Cooper,
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: Junior Sadik, your guy, Miss and Taylor decent tackles.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: I'm glad that you're back. That was good use of
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: my guy.
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: I like, it's there's been worse situations. Yeah, I'm not
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: saying it's a great situation, but it's there's been worse sitution.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: You know, Smith could throw twenty five picks again.
- 1:22:20Speaker 6: I'm more taking in a draft next year.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: What I'm saying you need to at some point, you
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: need to have a semblance of success. You can't. You
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: can't just stink every year and all of a sudden
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: think you're going to, you know, flip.
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: Well, That's why I was saying earlier when we were
- 1:22:34Speaker 6: talking about r bel Rees versus David Bailey, Like, what's
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: Aaron Glenn's status. You know, how how tenuous is that
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: if he has another three and fourteen season? You know,
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: is he the coach?
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: And they just put up, you know, a slate on
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: the on the draft telecast with a bunch of they're
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: not necessarily move the needle free agents that they signed,
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: but they signed like a handful of veteran guys that
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: ostensibly should be able to help people, like help younger commanders. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: you know, and you know, like a de Mario Davis
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: like should be able to help some young players player
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: that they integrate into the system. You know, they two
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: young defensive players, and David Bailey now and D'Angelo Ponds.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: They just don't have, you know, and Andre Sweat. I
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: think they they they got in that trade with Tennessee.
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: Yeah, they just don't have Drake May.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: I see what they I see what they're doing, you know,
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: find a way to win six games?
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: Can you win to the Minnesota Vikings?
- 1:23:31Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: I like him. I gotta we'll find out, I'm sure
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: at some point.
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: But c J.
- 1:23:35Speaker 6: Allen is having a real fall. And now Rodriguez, uh
- 1:23:40Speaker 6: Trotter and Golday all going ahead of c. J. Allen
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: and Anthony Hill Junior all those guys. So I really
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: like Jake Golday. I thought he'd just played with his
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: hair on fire. Physical still got some size, you know,
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: I was talking earlier about the lack of size with
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: some of these linebackers. I think he's got a little
- 1:23:56Speaker 6: bit of size. He played on the ball, rushed the
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: passer a little bit on down to you know, he's
- 1:24:02Speaker 6: got some play processing recognition, you know, coverage, spacing like
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: things like that. Mentally that he's going to have to
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: clean up in the league to get where he needs
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: to go. But you give him to Brian Flores. It's
- 1:24:12Speaker 6: a it's a fun player to give to Brian Flora.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: I thought you put him right in a strong side
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: linebacker July Viral, and then maybe he develops into you know,
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: strong side and play you know, right next to to Spalline.
- 1:24:22Speaker 6: But I liked him.
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: He had the run, Yeah, kid, Back to the phone,
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: day five, five, pass five hundred. Let's go to Iowa.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: Ethan is on the phone. What's up Ethan? Ethan going
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: once twice, three times?
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: You're out?
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: How about Michigan? Eric is in Michigan. What's up? Eric?
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: Eric with a scene and Eric with a k.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: Eric Oh, he's not there. How about East Nashville will
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: go to another Eric with a K. What's up? Eric?
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: But he's not with a.
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: There he is? What's up?
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Eric looks down at a K.
- 1:25:07Speaker 27: So you have to doctor.
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: Eric with a C.
- 1:25:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:25:13Speaker 27: I was trying to call about this before the break
- 1:25:15Speaker 27: when deuced to talked about AJ Brown. But basically I'm
- 1:25:19Speaker 27: trying to understand why can't the Eagles just restructure A. J.
- 1:25:22Speaker 27: Brown's contract to make it more tradable but for June first,
- 1:25:26Speaker 27: if they're definitely trading them anyway.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: So how do we how do we do that?
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: I mean, like he's got guaranteed money, so and he's
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: got to sign the deal that you're even if.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: They extended, it would still be guaranteed. And when they
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: get rid of him, it would it would they still
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: have to pay it?
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I guess there's probably a way Eric,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: to your point, there's probably a way around anything. But
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: I'm not sure what you know, I'm not sure what
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: necessarily why Philadelphia wants to help that.
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: Because Philly, I mean, Brown's gonna say, well I want
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: a big time could this change?
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: And he's not. I mean, there's no way he's not
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: giving As a matter of fact, I think if there's
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: a chance, I mean, go ahead. I'm sorry, go ahead, Eric, No.
- 1:26:09Speaker 27: I'm saying, like, if they're trading them after June first, anyway,
- 1:26:12Speaker 27: the money he's gonna get after June first is what
- 1:26:14Speaker 27: he's getting regardless. So why can't they just like move
- 1:26:18Speaker 27: the contract back essentially to say, hey, we're trading you
- 1:26:21Speaker 27: after I mean, we're giving you the same terms after
- 1:26:24Speaker 27: June first, but it's just going to be made or
- 1:26:27Speaker 27: whatever the day's date is, so they can go ahead
- 1:26:30Speaker 27: and trade them and move on.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Because the compensation he's already getting paid, Like, the compensation
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: doesn't change, it's the cap hit that is the June
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: first sticking point. So again he's not going to take
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Like I actually think that when the Patriots make this trade,
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: there's a fair chance that he's going to be looking
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: to real, you know, renegotiate that deal and to extend it.
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: I mean, you know the Eagles. The reason why the
- 1:26:56Speaker 6: Eagles are in this with Dave Brown is because they
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: use void yer in their contracts.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: They've been kicking the can.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: They're a notorious void year team. If you have an
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: owner that's willing to show out the money ahead of time.
- 1:27:08Speaker 6: You can be a big void year team and kick
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: the can down the road and spread the cap hits
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: out over the course of the void years. But when
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: you trade a player, those void years then become all
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: at once right and right.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: And eric.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: All the time. Right.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: But I'm not like I've seen teams do all kinds
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: of crazy stuff, So I'm not telling you that can't happen.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: There might be a mechanism that that I'm not aware of.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: I'm certainly no say to the packers. I am no
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: salary cap experts, so there's always a way around this stuff.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: But I just to me, the bottom line is they're
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: waiting till June first for cap reasons, and I think
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: the cap is what it is. They're not going to
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: be able to change that, I would think, and I'm
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: not because it's guaranteed money. So even if they redo
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: the contract, that doesn't change the guaranteed money that has
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: already been given on.
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: I'm not a cap expert either, I at least know
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: the basics of it, but I feel like people that
- 1:27:56Speaker 6: I read and follow that are cap experts. If there
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: was a way, if there was a gymnastics way, to
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: get out of this contract, and you know, one of
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: those crazy cap ways. I'm sure that like Jason from
- 1:28:09Speaker 6: Over the Cap or Miguel or somebody would be like,
- 1:28:11Speaker 6: this is how you do it.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: You know, Miguel hasted, but.
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: He only does Blue Sky. Now he doesn't. He's off
- 1:28:19Speaker 6: of X for personal, you know, political reasons, I think, but.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: He used to call into the show a lot.
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: I don't know, but the guys on if there was
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: a way to do that. There are people that are
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: paid to do this in the media. From a salary
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: cap perspective, as mcguil Joel Corey, I feel like somebody,
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: what guys are I feel like somebody would have.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: Come up with that, right Jason from Over the Cap
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: and are really really good at it.
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: Yeah, Brandon to the Packers, Uh, I didn't see it
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: with him, go ahead, That's all I got to say.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, did you guys ever?
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: Have you guys ever sat down with Richard Miller and
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: had some conversations with him about the cap.
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: I just I wonder what it's like.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: He'll never feel dumber, but yes, the short answer to
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: that is yes, not nothing like extensive or anything, but
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: he'll like and Richard's great, but he'll very condescendingly tell
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: you why you don't know what you're talking about.
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: Or my first interaction with him was after we won
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: our Super Bowl and they were contemplating redoing Brady you
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: know early and uh, you know, there was a question
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: of if he was going to get Peyton Manning money
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: and he was explained to me why he shouldn't get
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: Peyton Manning money, and I just never understood a word.
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: He said, Wow, you know it had to do with
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: where Manning was drafted and all this.
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: That's what we get questions like this, and we try
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: to figure it out for them.
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: But like as Patriots dot com, when we start talking
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: about salary cap stuff, we should probably be right about it.
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: So we called we should have like a bat phone
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: or like Richard bat phone wherever.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: I like the Felder napkin.
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's not no inside information. I just like,
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: I want to make sure we're going to print this,
- 1:30:10Speaker 6: that this is the accurate information that we're printing.
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: That's all. Let's see Tim dunk on D'Angelo Ponds.
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: Other guy could dunk on di'angelo Ponds, Yeah he could.
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: Tenders is a fun player. Yeah, he's size, speed and
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: Eldred wants his DK Metcalf. It's not quite that much
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: size and speed, but similar kind of player, I mean,
- 1:30:36Speaker 6: another one of those out big outside guys do. So
- 1:30:38Speaker 6: we talked a lot about he was on my bode.
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: I kept him, you know, more of a little bit raw,
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: developmental kind of guy, but has like, you know, outside
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: receiver potential.
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: Yeah. I wonder if he had transferred to a bigger school,
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: if where he would have gone, and then draft like this,
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: if he if I had carried over right, like if
- 1:30:54Speaker 6: he had kept producing like he did at Georgia State,
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: but he was at a bigger college football.
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: Pro Uh, Tom in New Jersey. With each pick, I'm
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: praying I don't hear Chris Bizzel drafted, hoping he holds
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: out long enough for him to fall for the Patriots
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: to draft him at sixty three or come in range
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: to trade up. On another note, I know everyone seems
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: to be ready to move on from Booty, but I'm
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: am I crazy to want to hold on to him. No,
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: you're not not.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: Everybody is ready to move on to hold none of
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: that Booty.
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: The Patriots appear to be ready to do that. But
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think a lot of people,
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: a lot of fans are.
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: A sixth round pick that seemed to pan out. If
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: he gets traded away, what's that say for the wide
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: receiver room and the rest of the team. If you develop,
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: we will just trade you away for a pick swap.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: Well, I don't think.
- 1:31:41Speaker 6: It's multiple regimes ago, you know, I mean Belichick drafted
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: kish On Booty and now we're into the third head
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: coach that he is.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: But I think a lot of fans feel the way
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: that he may just.
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: Know it's been starving for that position to pan out.
- 1:31:55Speaker 6: He's one of the few guys and maybe it hasn't
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: hit like. He's not a Grand Slamm. It's not a
- 1:32:00Speaker 6: you know, a prolific thousand yard receiver. But for a
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: six round pick, he's been a good player.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: Agreed, he's back, Oh not twice?
- 1:32:11Speaker 11: His honor?
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: Who's honor?
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: Uh? Jake and bendingo Australia. Is it just me or
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: does anyone else feel their insides drop a little every
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: time there's a perfect match for the Patriots fall off
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: the board.
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: I felt that with our Mason Thomas for sure. But
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: I see there it goes onto the Colts.
- 1:32:34Speaker 6: Finally, I thought.
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: He was gonna say every time Philly picks, which Philly
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: is now on the clock.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: They're gonna pick another receiver. I don't know.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: I just always feel like they're gonna do something that's.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Gonna upset people.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: He did it again.
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: You know, everyone freaks out how we are.
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: I mean that's and maybe it's fading a tiny bit,
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: but you know, there was a period with the Patriots
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: where it was just like everything they do touches the gold,
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: you know, like three year four when they five, like
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: those years everything with.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: Gene Wilson, Samuel Daniel, Dane Copen like these third, fourth,
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: fifth round.
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: But I'm saying you're saying good, You're just saying the
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: way that everybody viewed them as like they know what
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: they're doing, They're on top of it. These guys are geniuses,
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: you know, like and it started to change a little
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: bit when you start to you know, write in that's up,
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: but it never changed the way.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: It was perceived, which used to irritate.
- 1:33:16Speaker 6: Wells are on the clock. They traded up? Really, yes,
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: the Patriots are on the.
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, okay, just picked.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: The excitement and they traded there.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: They traded with the Eagles.
- 1:33:27Speaker 6: They traded they are behind.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: They traded it, which I go behind.
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: Fifty five, So the Eagles must have already made their
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: pick and they have traded in there on the clock.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: Oh so who what do you think? What did they
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: do this for practice?
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: You like that? I like it? I do like that.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: He's a good, good physical That's that's a big physical.
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: A big move. Thirty one in this round to twenty
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: two in this round.
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: Yeah, no, I mean this, I don't know. Look, I
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: don't know if it's going to be an actual.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: Says as he says, the Patriots are trading up for Illinois.
- 1:34:01Speaker 6: Defensive end Gabe So it's on Twitter. That's what I
- 1:34:05Speaker 6: just said. New England Patriots at number fifty.
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 1:34:09Speaker 6: They have to trade it up to draft Gabe Acis
- 1:34:12Speaker 6: from Illinois, the edge rusher.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: I mean, we're back.
- 1:34:17Speaker 6: This is a great pick. I mean, this guy is
- 1:34:20Speaker 6: one of our favorite players in the draft. We talk
- 1:34:23Speaker 6: about effort and finish with this program all the time.
- 1:34:26Speaker 6: I mean, he is one of the most violent players
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: I evaluated throughout the entire process. Just a downhill missile,
- 1:34:34Speaker 6: has a little bit of juice off the edge, has
- 1:34:36Speaker 6: a little athleticism, can jump inside the tackle when they overset.
- 1:34:40Speaker 6: But really what you're getting is somebody that is going
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: to just meet people, meet blockers, and really pack a punch.
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: I mean, he's a physical, physical player, exactly the type
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: of player that you would expect Mike Rabel to really love.
- 1:34:54Speaker 6: He was wrestler in high school, a all state kind
- 1:34:58Speaker 6: of wrestler. Apples man like. You see him grapple with
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: his hands inside guys and torque them and throw them
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: off his body. Just so much fun to watch him play.
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: Okay, so the Patriots sent sixty three, one, thirty one
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: and two h two to the Chargers for fifty five.
- 1:35:15Speaker 6: I love it. I just I just love the aggressiveness
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: that they're showing. Because this is not a good draft.
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: Everybody keeps saying that, and if you like guys, if
- 1:35:24Speaker 6: you have guys in mind that you really really like,
- 1:35:27Speaker 6: you know, do you need all these extra picks on
- 1:35:28Speaker 6: day three? They had eight picks on day three of
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: the draft coming in and everybody's telling you that there's
- 1:35:33Speaker 6: not enough talent to draft eight guys on day three
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: at the draft, So you go up. You know, Lomu
- 1:35:38Speaker 6: is one of their guys. They went and got him.
- 1:35:40Speaker 6: Acus is clearly one of their guys. They went and
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: got him. Uh, you can see the method there as well.
- 1:35:45Speaker 6: So they have ninety five still one seventy one, one
- 1:35:49Speaker 6: ninety one, one, ninety eight, two twelve, two forty seven.
- 1:35:52Speaker 6: But uh, one of the most mock draft players to
- 1:35:55Speaker 6: the Patriots, I'd say on Day two, like Gess Lomo
- 1:35:58Speaker 6: took us by surprise, this one doesn't take any buddy.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: By surprise at all.
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: I mean, I'm excited.
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: I mean, this is why banged the table at the
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: beginning of this. They got a trade up to get
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: one of those guys that was one of the guys
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: I said they.
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: Needed to, I mean, and they did aggressively.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: I like it, and I like it for all the
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: reasons Evan just said, No, no need for me to
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: repeat anything. When you like a guy in a draft
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: that is considered to be kind of watered down, yep,
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: get a guy that you want as opposed to just subtlings.
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: As Evan said, just I mean, have eight picks right now.
- 1:36:25Speaker 6: I was sawing those down a little bit.
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm worried about acquiring more, but you.
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: Know physical, I mean I saw him as you know,
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: I don't know how different they view the left and
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: the right side, but I kind of see it as
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: the Landry playing mostly the left side, a little bit
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: more physical against the run. I see him as that
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: kind of a guy, you know, it's not it's not
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: always a pure past.
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: He is six four and sixty pounds, so he's got size,
- 1:36:48Speaker 6: he's got power, you know, but I think he does
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: have a little bit of finesse to his game, enough
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: to compliment that I don't know three going off the
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: top of my head, but I can get you that,
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: I'll get you.
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: We're going to catch it.
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: The other thing, I would just say they picked him
- 1:37:04Speaker 6: at fifty five. The consensus board going into the draft
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: had him at fifty four. So there's another one of
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: those guys that they got right where he was supposed
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: to go and got aggressive with it to come up
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: and get him. The guy that I kind of compared
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: him to is Whitney Merciless, like just one of those
- 1:37:19Speaker 6: types of you know, really edgy edge players, you know.
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: School I believe I think Merciless is out of Illinois too, right, very.
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: Very good, pretty sure, probably the deep dip, you know,
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: just some of the polls from from Brugler, get that right.
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, durbal.
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: Inexperienced fifty straight games, you know, and Fred you want
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: to know he's thirty three inch arms. He hadn't he
- 1:37:41Speaker 5: didn't do any jumps or runs though. This uh, this offseason,
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: I have to look and.
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: Can't believe we traded up for a guy who can't jump.
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: But yeah, ten inch hands.
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: I mean, he's you know, he's the real deal, and
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: he plays like they want a guy to play. So
- 1:37:53Speaker 5: I think he's exactly the kind of player that they
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: needed to add to the mix. I think he's got
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: long term potential. I think he's got immediate potential to contribute.
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: This is exactly what I was hoping for today, exactly
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: to come away with this kind of guy. We spent
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: all spring talking about they need an edge. This is
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: a great edge class, and they got one of the
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: best fits. So I think this this move is a
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: slam dunk. I don't have to talk myself into it
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: at all. This is one of the guys I loved.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: I can hear the excitement.
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: No, it's well, you know what, it's two fret. It's
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: just gonna be a fun guy to watch because he's
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: a maniac. You know, he's just really tough, and that's
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: what they look for. You know, what is it effort
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: and finish. You know, effort and finish. This guy's gonna
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: play exactly like Zach Korr asked those guys to play.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: So great pick, great pick.
- 1:38:32Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: I would also just say, you know, at this point
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: in the draft too, like I do, I feel like Deuce,
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: you probably agree with me, like I think this is
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: a starting caliber player, Like I think this is a
- 1:38:41Speaker 6: guy that even though they picked him at fifty five, like,
- 1:38:44Speaker 6: he's going to come in year one and I think
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: he's going to start to push for playing time in
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: that edge group. So they went last night with a
- 1:38:52Speaker 6: little bit more of a developmental long term need with
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: the offensive tackle. This pick is we got a guy
- 1:38:58Speaker 6: that can come in and I think Tribute right away a.
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: Nice good stuff. Let's go to the phones. Maybe there's
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: some reaction about that, although I think Eldred is called Eldred, don't.
- 1:39:10Speaker 11: Bring me down.
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: I was just joking with you, what's on Eldred?
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: He's like this, this is too happy.
- 1:39:17Speaker 18: Now.
- 1:39:18Speaker 6: I don't want to rain one.
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: Okay, so we have another Oklahoma caller Rod is in Oklahoma.
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: What's up? Rod?
- 1:39:26Speaker 17: I know it's Rob.
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: I called earlier.
- 1:39:29Speaker 14: I wasn't here for a victory lab or anything.
- 1:39:31Speaker 11: I may have Jean.
- 1:39:32Speaker 14: Towel off the board, but this is a pretty say okay,
- 1:39:36Speaker 14: pick fifty, trade out, super excited, ready for the season.
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: All right, sounds good?
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: That is that Rob getting the call waiting again and.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: Second's going on with his phone.
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: He's a popular guy.
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe and maybe he has to take Maybe Rob
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: has his own bath in his life another pass.
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: I hope he does.
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: Friend, We all deserve a barth in our life, don't we.
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think that's an for Uh I have I.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: Have a wife? Yeah?
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: So do I. He's probably has two. He has a
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: wife and he has a bar and the dog.
- 1:40:11Speaker 6: Just pick.
- 1:40:14Speaker 11: There.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: I'm wondering.
- 1:40:15Speaker 20: At ninety five, let's say Brasel and Delp are there.
- 1:40:19Speaker 19: Which one would you prefer?
- 1:40:23Speaker 6: Brasel, I'll go Delp? Yeah, just to be fun.
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: So we talked about Oscar Delp last week. All the
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: things that I'm reading is a disparity. Some people think
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: he's better than others, like much better than others.
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: Yeah, well you're projecting him right, You know he only
- 1:40:40Speaker 6: had twenty catches in college, and so you're hoping that
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: he is going to blossom into that player at the
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: NFL level. So that can be beauty in the eye
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: of the holder. Either you think that it's not going
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: to blossom or he is. You know, it's one or
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: the other way. But you know, notoriously speaking in the
- 1:41:00Speaker 6: twenty twenty six NFL Draft the New England Patriots.
- 1:41:04Speaker 21: So like Gabe Akis, linebacker Illinois.
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: I'll let you go, right, thanks, all right, thanks.
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: John, that's a silent jay for everybody out there.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: Wrestler Steady Bull Rush bud Dupree.
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: That's a good comp too.
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: So bud dupre had something, he's had something. He's been
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: around for a long time. He's never been, I would say,
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: a great player, but he's been good at times for
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: a long time. Bud Dupree.
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: Yeah, bud Dupree is not a bad comp either. You know,
- 1:41:34Speaker 6: I think both those comps work. You know that that's
- 1:41:36Speaker 6: what you see from him is what they're shows.
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: The physicality, like you just he can yeah, physicality, a
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: pretty good motor too, relentless. But what I really liked
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: about him is when he plays the run. You know,
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: he really takes up and compresses space and takes on
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: pullers and sets the edge physical guy freaking give us
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: play by play of wrestling, Friends of Wrestler.
- 1:41:59Speaker 6: Oh yeah, what are the Oh I didn't.
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting a single it.
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: I just think the shorts were a little It wasn't
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: what you think it was. It wasn't what you think
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: it was.
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: I like them even more now, Oh, Gabe, can you
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: see well?
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: You know Fred quick aside.
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: I mean, I think the the interesting thing right now is,
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: you know, tomorrow we're gonna be on two to four.
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: They don't have a fourth round pick anymore. So I
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: think that that's going to be the good call. I mean,
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: they could of course trade back up, but.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: Crazy like a foxation, we don't need to sit on
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: for two hours with And I'll tell you I'll be there,
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: you know, at most tonight until ten.
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna say I'll be there in spirit.
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: Fred will be there at least until I'll be here
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: at most until well that's what I was curious if
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: this if the third rounder went and if the third
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: round went out ten.
- 1:42:56Speaker 6: Now we're having fun here, We're getting.
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: Great and it's moving well, and you know, I think
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: I think it's exciting when you get aggressive. Yeah, you
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: know it is. It adds a little I mean, doesn't
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: make any better chances of your picks hitting, but I
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: think it lends a little bit of.
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: It shows they like the guys.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: Yeah, like they want to I want to go get.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: Them putting their pits where their mouth is.
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: Yeah, well when you know where is last night you
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: had to not look We all talked about them potentially
- 1:43:24Speaker 5: taking a tackle like I don't think that was like
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: what but the player itself took a little bit of
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: like all right, how does this fit exactly?
- 1:43:30Speaker 8: This?
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: There's no such conversation with gay back as we all
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: I mean across the board bar is probably doing you know,
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: backhand springs as well. It fits this is exactly their
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: kind of guy. So it's it is exciting when you
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: feel like you know what they're looking for. You see
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: a guy you match the need, and you know everybody
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: kind of recognizes it.
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: All right. So while we kind of soak that in, uh,
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: last night, you know, we had Alex up at the
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: party and we did a couple of hits with her,
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: but there was one that we didn't get to because
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: it was late at night that Matt Morrell says, we
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: absolutely have to share with our viewers. Okay, so Matthew,
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: you have that ready to go. Okay, uh, let's go
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: to Alex from last night and see who she was
- 1:44:11Speaker 4: talking with.
- 1:44:12Speaker 24: I am here with a Patriots unfiltered draft knight legend,
- 1:44:16Speaker 24: old dirty Patriot, Plug yourself one more.
- 1:44:19Speaker 28: Time, old dirty Dandrix, old dirty Patriot infamous from last
- 1:44:25Speaker 28: year's draft interview when we drafted Will Hambell.
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: How are we feeling about tonight, Caleb Lamoux, well one.
- 1:44:32Speaker 11: Wison I had.
- 1:44:34Speaker 28: I'm a thousand pounds in the bergy four round I'm
- 1:44:40Speaker 28: gonna talk about.
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: Does that mean that you want to beat people off?
- 1:44:44Speaker 17: Bob?
- 1:44:45Speaker 28: Keep the grafts through the World Cup, Call the boys
- 1:44:49Speaker 28: down the kick Kimmer Island with a Varmit plant, throw
- 1:44:54Speaker 28: them in the dirt and let him roll around a bit.
- 1:44:56Speaker 11: Brother, that's hip.
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: Bob said, you wanted a thousand pounds in the first
- 1:45:02Speaker 6: four picks?
- 1:45:03Speaker 28: How much you think we just picked up there Street thirteen.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: No, you gonna come here ready to beat them off?
- 1:45:13Speaker 11: Two games of running with bucking going off the track.
- 1:45:17Speaker 18: That's what might go.
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: Used to take.
- 1:45:19Speaker 24: I want to know what I want.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: A guy who's tying a path blocking.
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: We got some buildable.
- 1:45:26Speaker 28: Running back jumpson and I want to live and go
- 1:45:30Speaker 28: home and make that whole big, big enough to drive
- 1:45:34Speaker 28: the neck truck. Thrill, beat them up, smutted up, mut
- 1:45:40Speaker 28: that grass off, beat them up, like di was said.
- 1:45:46Speaker 28: And no one's want to track me with me standing
- 1:45:50Speaker 28: in front of them.
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: That's what I like.
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: You told me you wanted a red mean draft.
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: Is this a red draft?
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: Well, it's this stuff, some red meat.
- 1:46:02Speaker 11: I mean, what do you want to be like?
- 1:46:04Speaker 28: I Grubb in the eighties, all right, the eighties and
- 1:46:07Speaker 28: beautiful yo yo.
- 1:46:10Speaker 6: The other the week is present in the.
- 1:46:13Speaker 28: Eighties when kicking ball, the punter kicker, and why rechieve it?
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: Why rechieve it for a week?
- 1:46:21Speaker 8: Much more.
- 1:46:22Speaker 28: Passing is desperation.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: You gotta drop back in the pass. Running is grabbing.
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: You're not doing it. Grab him, go go make it,
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: make it. Have him giving the ball and I'll figure
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: it out.
- 1:46:41Speaker 28: That's doing a great one set one day.
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: Give me the ball, I'll figure it out.
- 1:46:47Speaker 14: Passes out my dame.
- 1:46:51Speaker 6: And there you have it.
- 1:46:52Speaker 24: Live from the twenty twenty six Patriots Shrap party very.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: Soon, all right, poor Alex. How much spittle? Did you
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: think she had a up?
- 1:47:00Speaker 6: A lot of spill that.
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: I hope that guy's okay, it seems like he had
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: a good night along with many other people.
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: Okay, well that was I don't know if that was
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: worth going to but allright, we you know, Alex put
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: in the time, so we had to give people loved it.
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: People loved it.
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: Who certified Williams to meet their names?
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I want their names to fire.
- 1:47:19Speaker 8: We played laught at that really hard. Every person we've
- 1:47:24Speaker 8: played that for laught There really hard.
- 1:47:26Speaker 11: Must be sympathy left.
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: Yes anyway, Okay, that's our Alex revisiting the twenty twenty
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: five guy that was d a little uh. I think
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: he was more drunk this year.
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: NFL news not Patriots related trade vikings, just sending former
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: Pro Bowl linebacker Jonathan Grennard to the Philadelphia Eagles exchanged
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: for a third round pick tonight, number ninety eight and
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: the third round pick next year.
- 1:47:50Speaker 11: Woh interesting.
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: Grennard and the Eagles reached agreement on a four year,
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: one hundred million dollar extension, includes fifty million Philly guaranteed.
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: So I would say it continues to show what everybody
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: already thinks it's like a J. Brown is not staying there.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: But it's a big trade.
- 1:48:09Speaker 6: Yeah. I like that player.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: We saw him in always active.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: Why did it fall out with him? That's what I
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: don't quite get. Maybe it is as a contract thing.
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: But they just signed Hi from Houston what two years ago?
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: He's been productive for them. I don't know what the
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: falling out was. He was on the trade block this
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: whole off season. You heard rumors of him. I would
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: have taken him with the Patriots with their edge need.
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: But uh, you know how he I guess how he
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: does it again?
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: Are we doing that?
- 1:48:33Speaker 12: Uh?
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: Pete Ontario says Fred should be happy. We now have
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: a guy who also is a wrestler. No neck injuries
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: for Gabe Yakis.
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: Single it talk?
- 1:48:45Speaker 11: How do you fall? What is that like?
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: Is that like a No, it's it's warmth the chin.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: It's these guys that get go down and their head
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: immediately snaps back and they hit their helmet on the turf.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: You gotta bull your neck. Ye have a strong neck?
- 1:48:59Speaker 11: Did you do like this?
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: So we'll do net bridges. You do the net bridges
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: when you arch your back so you can't get pinned
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: and so you have to strengthen your neck.
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: Did you have you talked to Drake May about this,
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: not even sliding?
- 1:49:13Speaker 4: No, but I but I'll tell you after I went
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: on my diatribe about this, he hasn't. He did never
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: never got a concussion after so maybe he was listening.
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: Maybe he was listening. I feel like this would be
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: good insight for a quarterback, because that's the problem with quarterbacks.
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: And I'm not being facetious, like they get tackled, they
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: get sacked, and they go backwards right, and their head bounces.
- 1:49:33Speaker 4: Because they don't as soon as you feel yourself going back,
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: you bowl your neck. Now. It helps to have a
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: strong neck to begin with, and you get that by
- 1:49:41Speaker 4: doing net bridges, you know.
- 1:49:43Speaker 6: I like that that.
- 1:49:44Speaker 11: I say.
- 1:49:45Speaker 6: What I would say is one of the most consistent
- 1:49:49Speaker 6: like concussions is the quarterback getting sacked and bouncing his
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: head off the turf is one of the more regular
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: concussions that happens in the NFL, And I think a
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: lot of that. What you said is prob Me.
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: Tell you something. I was going down my ramp on
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: my shed. It was wooden, it was very slippery, and
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: I fell like feet came out from under me, and
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: my head did not hit because instinctually I bowed my
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: neck and my head never made contact with the ground man,
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: and I couldn't have down harder.
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: Yeah, you know it's I think my number one fear
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: as I get older is the fallse Like you just
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: don't see it coming and all of a sudden you
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: got a broken hamp and your.
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: I know, like every time you go to the doctor. Now,
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: have you fallen in the last two weeks?
- 1:50:29Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:50:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm already getting paranoid about it.
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: Yeah, do your neck bridges.
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: I'll know your fred if I get concussed.
- 1:50:37Speaker 11: You know I didn't.
- 1:50:38Speaker 4: Yeah. Uh back to the hotline. Eight five five pats,
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: five hundred patties and agawam, what's up? Patty?
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:50:46Speaker 24: Guys?
- 1:50:48Speaker 20: I listened, Man, I might have to like smoke some
- 1:50:50Speaker 20: weed because I'm freaking I'm so pumped.
- 1:50:52Speaker 6: Y well, like you're already high, what do you get Hi?
- 1:50:57Speaker 7: Listen?
- 1:50:57Speaker 20: This is a great draft yesterday low move, Like not
- 1:51:01Speaker 20: really in love with the player, but I love the idea,
- 1:51:04Speaker 20: like I've loved the idea of protecting almost valuable asset
- 1:51:07Speaker 20: at quarterback, and Achis was my was the guy I wanted.
- 1:51:11Speaker 20: He was the edge guy that I wanted. This is
- 1:51:13Speaker 20: what good teams do. We build up from the trenches.
- 1:51:17Speaker 20: And I don't know what else to say, Mike, I'm
- 1:51:20Speaker 20: surprised you you weren't freaking jumping.
- 1:51:22Speaker 18: Up and down.
- 1:51:22Speaker 20: Man.
- 1:51:23Speaker 18: This is this is great.
- 1:51:24Speaker 17: This is a great draft.
- 1:51:25Speaker 20: Already I'm already happy. I don't care what they do, all.
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: Right, thanks Patty.
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: What I really like about fans. What I really like
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: about what they've they did here and did in both places,
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: but especially with Akis, is they they identified the run
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: was happening. You know, the edge rushers were starting to
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: fall or starting to go, and you know, really the
- 1:51:45Speaker 6: only guy that I had left that I really liked
- 1:51:47Speaker 6: was Keon Crawford. And after that, I felt like it
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: was we were kind of getting into cliff territory a
- 1:51:52Speaker 6: little bit, and instead of just watching the parade go by,
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: they've got aggressive and they went up and got their
- 1:51:57Speaker 6: guy and made sure that they got one of this
- 1:51:59Speaker 6: cluster of edge rushers. Otherwise, you know, you were probably
- 1:52:03Speaker 6: looking at guys that were either situational in some sort
- 1:52:06Speaker 6: of way, run or pass or you know that kind
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: of player, and they got aggressive, and you know that
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: we always loved them consolidating picks, right, I mean, that's that's.
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: That's my favorite time of the year any year.
- 1:52:18Speaker 21: Uh.
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: That stops the fall for Evans. Uh safety.
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: I I didn't want this to go by with with
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: Nate Borkircher going, uh yeah.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: I was like, what do you think of him?
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: I mean that the first first not on the top
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: hunter for but I actually liked the player. I did too.
- 1:52:36Speaker 5: He was one of my big one guys. But in
- 1:52:37Speaker 5: Bugler had him as as the eighth tight end.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: I think he's the third.
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: I believe that's gone off the board if I remember right,
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: Stowers and Sadiq went. So you know, for all the
- 1:52:46Speaker 5: talk of the you know, the other guys, the max
- 1:52:50Speaker 5: players of the world, Oscar Delves, this was you know,
- 1:52:53Speaker 5: we kind of jumped a little bit.
- 1:52:54Speaker 6: Yeah, and you know Roush is still available as well.
- 1:52:57Speaker 6: So all three of those guys, this this ki kicker
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: going ahead of him as ahead of Claire especially, I
- 1:53:03Speaker 6: would say, is pretty surprised.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: I am surprised, but he's I just it's one of
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: those guys that he's not like Kenyan Sadik. He's not
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: that kind of like you know he's not a dynamic
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: tight end, but man, does you make it like that
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: the touchdown catch to beat Notre Dame in the first game, Like, like,
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: I just like this player. I think he's pretty well rounded,
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: but I am surprised that he went as high as
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: he did.
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: Yeah, he's a really good run blocker, one of the
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: better blockers in the draft at tight end. But he's
- 1:53:32Speaker 6: got enough wiggle and kind of you know, feel at
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: the first and second level the defense to just be
- 1:53:39Speaker 6: that underneath safety blanket. Like I don't know if he's
- 1:53:41Speaker 6: going to be like a dynamic down the field receiver,
- 1:53:44Speaker 6: but he has enough to kind of just be a
- 1:53:47Speaker 6: blocking tight end who also will catch a little outlet
- 1:53:49Speaker 6: passes and things like that, and that that's you know,
- 1:53:52Speaker 6: some some teams find that valuable.
- 1:54:00Speaker 5: Well, I just I wonder too if they see the
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: potential in him, they see him as one of the
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: you know, guys that they can develop into an all
- 1:54:06Speaker 5: around guy, whereas if you take Max Claire, Yeah he
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: can block, but you know, it's still he's always going
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: to be a little bit light.
- 1:54:14Speaker 11: M h.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: Texans are announcing their selection.
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: With some some character actor on a sitcom. It's actually
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Billy Miller for former tight end? Does it not not
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: look like a former tight end to you? Like, guy,
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: does that guy look like you played in the NFL?
- 1:54:30Speaker 6: Sure a little bit? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think you could.
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: I think he looks like they select Marlon Klein.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: Dah So.
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: Marlon Klein is one of my favorite sleepers in the draft,
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: and I guess I would didn't give it enough credit.
- 1:54:45Speaker 6: He goes fifty nine overall. He was you know, born
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: in Germany, and uh, you know, he is obviously late
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: to football, but has really really high end athleticism and
- 1:54:56Speaker 6: especially straight line speed, really dynamic receiver. I thought he
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: really gave a crap frankly in the run game and
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: was able to hold his own in that respect. To
- 1:55:07Speaker 6: I was really I really thought he was.
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: A good player.
- 1:55:10Speaker 6: I didn't think it was this good to go in
- 1:55:13Speaker 6: the second round. But fun player. I mean, just off
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: the beast.
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: It's TE eight and t E ten, you know, going.
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: Third and well we want to see a lot of
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: this now, Guys, who are you know, projected all over
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: the place going higher or lower than you think because
- 1:55:27Speaker 4: of the nature of this draft.
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: Well, it's just it's fascinating to me We've talked all
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: about this tight end class. Thomas Brown was sent on
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: a special mission apparently to find the right guy. Rabel
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: loves the tight end. Say give me a bunch of them.
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: We all knew this class. We were all kind of
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: on the same guys, and now here we are. We
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: get to the draft and it's you know, it's going
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: its own way. It's it's just one of those interesting
- 1:55:48Speaker 5: things that even the edges generally kind of went in order.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: The guys that you know we talked about at the
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: top of the show went right off the board.
- 1:55:54Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: It's just really interesting with the tight end class. And
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: I guess it's maybe a flavor thing. Just every team
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: come of looks for some kind of specific set of
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: skills and these are the two that that went.
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: But really interesting.
- 1:56:05Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I think that's definitely what it probably is,
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: you know, a flavor thing. And you know, some of
- 1:56:11Speaker 6: these guys are all different shapes and sizes and speeds
- 1:56:14Speaker 6: and different skill sets. You know, Boar kickers more of
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: a blocker. Stowers is obviously a wide receiver essentially. But
- 1:56:21Speaker 6: I think what's interesting from a Patriots perspective is, Okay,
- 1:56:25Speaker 6: maybe some of the teams in the league saw on
- 1:56:27Speaker 6: the board a little bit differently deuced. But all the
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: guys that we talked about all off season are still available,
- 1:56:32Speaker 6: right you know, Oscar Dell, Sam Roush, Max Claire. So
- 1:56:36Speaker 6: you know we talked about off the top of the
- 1:56:37Speaker 6: show going edge tight end tonight and kind of hitting
- 1:56:41Speaker 6: both those spots, and they might still get their tight end.
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: Take Max Claire guy. I mean, it's a long way
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: to go. I'll take you Max Claire Guy. I would
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: trade the rest of the draft. Go up, get him,
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: call it a day.
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: Oh d that is in New Hampshire. What's up DC,
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: Hey guys.
- 1:57:05Speaker 9: I just want to throw out there that one of
- 1:57:08Speaker 9: the things I love about these first two picks is
- 1:57:11Speaker 9: you have Lamu and one of his I don't know
- 1:57:14Speaker 9: one of the talking points against them these these passive
- 1:57:17Speaker 9: and not mean, and then you have access maybe one
- 1:57:20Speaker 9: of the meanest guys available. So there's gonna be some
- 1:57:24Speaker 9: fun matchups between those two in training camp. Really looking
- 1:57:29Speaker 9: forward to that battle. And uh you know, if you're
- 1:57:32Speaker 9: worried about Lomu playing a little bit meaner, what a
- 1:57:37Speaker 9: test to throw at them.
- 1:57:39Speaker 4: Uh So I love it.
- 1:57:41Speaker 9: Let's get tight end bring it home and good luck
- 1:57:44Speaker 9: the rest of the night.
- 1:57:45Speaker 17: Boys.
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: All right, thanks d C.
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: It's kind of a fun point.
- 1:57:48Speaker 5: I mean, you know, it's guys going against each other
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: in practice, but you know it's it's going to bring
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: it out of you know, it's going to be welcome
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: to This is how our play style is going to be,
- 1:57:55Speaker 5: and you're going to be going against guys.
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: Uh, you know, like gay back is some.
- 1:57:58Speaker 5: Practice that are that are going to be aggressive and
- 1:58:00Speaker 5: you're gonna have to be able to counter that.
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: So you know, I like it. It's iron sharpens iron.
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:58:05Speaker 6: I mean realistically, the last time you know this is
- 1:58:08Speaker 6: Akus is the first time that they've drafted a defensive
- 1:58:11Speaker 6: player in the top one hundred since Keon White and
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: Christian Zalees in twenty twenty three, So you know, it's
- 1:58:16Speaker 6: been a little while since they've had like a young,
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: you know, fun edge rusher to say, hey, well thank you, Evan.
- 1:58:22Speaker 6: You're right, lam. You know, this is iron sharpens iron.
- 1:58:26Speaker 6: But for both people.
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: Don't know when they're puppy.
- 1:58:29Speaker 6: Yeah right, Oh, this guy's gonna bite and that he's
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: gonna buy you, and he's gonna bite the guy next
- 1:58:33Speaker 6: to you. So like, if you don't bring your hard
- 1:58:35Speaker 6: hat to the gay back this party, you're gonna be
- 1:58:37Speaker 6: in trouble. Like this guy is gonna he's gonna hit somebody.
- 1:58:41Speaker 6: He's gonna knock the decal right off the helmet. So
- 1:58:44Speaker 6: uh that that's the most fun part about watching him
- 1:58:46Speaker 6: play is how violent he is.
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: All Right, well, listen, time for a break. Nine o'clock.
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: We're getting to the end of the second round. Uh,
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: and then we will of course move into the third
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: round tonight. So rounds tonight and then we'll be back
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: tomorrow with the rest of the draft. Let's take a
- 1:59:03Speaker 4: break and we'll be back after this
