- 0:00Speaker 1: Other voices considered, it's one more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm strong and one more thing, So we're gonna do.
- 0:09Speaker 1: A PBS segment here. That's what that sounds like. That
- 0:13Speaker 1: sounded like I was auditioning for NBR, didn't it.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Joe texted me last night because he was watching the
- 0:18Speaker 2: news and I saw it later. So the news breaks
- 0:22Speaker 2: yesterday that eight times doctors have visited the White House
- 0:26Speaker 2: of Parkinson specialist and the ABC Evening News teases that
- 0:31Speaker 2: and then goes to weather. We'll have that for you later.
- 0:34Speaker 2: But now it's raining hard in Texas?
- 0:36Speaker 1: Right with the rainstorm?
- 0:41Speaker 2: What the hell is the deal with national weather and newscasts?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Did they really get the ratings out of that? It's
- 0:47Speaker 2: one of Regardless of that as a journalist, don't you,
- 0:50Speaker 2: as David Muir whoever, think the fact that the president
- 0:54Speaker 2: might have Parkinson's and have to step down as president
- 0:57Speaker 2: is a bigger story than rain in Texas?
- 1:00Speaker 1: I think, and I'm not making a joke. I think
- 1:03Speaker 1: it is. And I say this as an old guy, borderline.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Old people like weather, they like weather coverage. Yeah, I know,
- 1:13Speaker 1: it's crazy. So other voices considered, we just happen to
- 1:16Speaker 1: have some audio and thoughts and little many topics to
- 1:21Speaker 1: get to that have no relationship to each other. We
- 1:24Speaker 1: will bounce up and down between the frivolous and the serious,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and this, that and the other. Let's start with Bill Maher.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Was it a clip ten Michael that we haven't gotten to.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Did you see the debate? And in case you missed it,
- 1:42Speaker 3: don't worry. So did one of the contestants. I mean,
- 1:48Speaker 3: Trump told lie after lie after lie. He never would
- 1:51Speaker 3: have gotten away with that if Joe Biden was there.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Oh wow, Oh Joe, Joe. You know Joe, he famously
- 2:02Speaker 3: loves trains, but apparently not of thought.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Wow. They just keep telling.
- 2:14Speaker 3: It's just all night, confused and halting and trailing off.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I've seen beauty patcheant contestants answer questions better.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Playing that's true.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe some US Americans don't have maps. So
- 2:28Speaker 1: let's stick with politics for just a moment. Oh, coming up,
- 2:33Speaker 1: the infamous Marjorie Taylor Green tweet. If you haven't heard
- 2:37Speaker 1: about this, this is Jack. Would you like to describe
- 2:40Speaker 1: the Katie Britt clip.
- 2:42Speaker 2: First of all, you might not know who she is.
- 2:45Speaker 2: She is a senator from which of your Southern States,
- 2:50Speaker 2: doesn't matter. But she was being hailed as like really
- 2:54Speaker 2: short list VP possibility for Donald Trump. She's a Republican,
- 2:59Speaker 2: she's cute, she's smart, she's a conservative. She has that
- 3:05Speaker 2: happy warrior thing going. And that's why she was picked
- 3:08Speaker 2: to give the response to the State of the Union address,
- 3:12Speaker 2: which is a death sentence and everybody should recognize that.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It is ruinedy one knows it.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It has ruined so many careers. But anyway, she was
- 3:21Speaker 2: horrible on that thing. But here is she is being
- 3:24Speaker 2: charming yesterday, So some liberal activist catches her in the hallway,
- 3:31Speaker 2: pretends she's a fan and wants a selfie, then hits
- 3:34Speaker 2: her with a gotcha question, or so the liberal activist thinks.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And I just thought this was worth playing because Katie
- 3:42Speaker 2: Britt handled it so well, And the lib activist posted
- 3:45Speaker 2: on their website like, got her naileder folder? Oh hah,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I mean the expression on her face was like, ah,
- 3:52Speaker 2: isn't that great? Okay, Well, do you see how it
- 3:55Speaker 2: played out? Listen to it here twenty five Hi, I'm
- 4:00Speaker 2: here at the congressman. I was wondering how much money
- 4:02Speaker 2: I would take to buy you back from big oil.
- 4:04Speaker 2: From Big Oil. Yeah, oh, and.
- 4:06Speaker 3: You look at how dishonest that was.
- 4:07Speaker 2: You ask if you could take a sefie selfie and
- 4:09Speaker 2: I were asking questions and tell me, what is it?
- 4:12Speaker 2: What do you think that big oil? Talk to me
- 4:14Speaker 2: about that? I think that the climate crisis is hearing
- 4:16Speaker 2: getting worse, and you're being funded by the people who
- 4:18Speaker 2: are making that happen. Listen, we've got to be not
- 4:21Speaker 2: only energy independent, but energy dominant. We do a better
- 4:23Speaker 2: than we lead back and she was getting gotten an
- 4:25Speaker 2: elevator and left, but I thought she handled that really well.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Oh look at you. You're being dishonest. You pretended you
- 4:30Speaker 2: wanted selfie and you wanted to ask me a question. Okay,
- 4:32Speaker 2: so what is it do you think needs to happen
- 4:34Speaker 2: with the big Oil? I thought that was great.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I actually have some great stuff on that very
- 4:39Speaker 1: question that we just haven't gotten to during the radio
- 4:42Speaker 1: show because Slash Podcast because of the whole Biden deterioration story,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but we will probably later on this week. The long
- 4:51Speaker 1: and short of it is that with all of the
- 4:53Speaker 1: trillions of dollars invested in green energy, they everybody the
- 4:58Speaker 1: world is using more fossil fuel than we were a
- 5:01Speaker 1: few years ago. Because the economies are growing and there
- 5:04Speaker 1: are more people and more energy. It's not like we
- 5:08Speaker 1: had enough energy for everybody to do what they wanted
- 5:11Speaker 1: to do around the globe. So if you add to
- 5:14Speaker 1: the energy supply, it just grows economies and they use
- 5:17Speaker 1: even more energy. So the idea that we're cutting out
- 5:21Speaker 1: on fossil cutting out fossil fuels, in some way, it's
- 5:24Speaker 1: just it's fictional. But more on that another time. A
- 5:27Speaker 1: couple of straight thoughts on Katie britt As we're leading
- 5:30Speaker 1: up to playing that, I was thinking, you know, she's
- 5:32Speaker 1: still got a future. Yeah, she floundered on the response
- 5:35Speaker 1: to the State of the Union. It was pretty terrible
- 5:37Speaker 1: and weird and off putting. But come on, now, that's
- 5:39Speaker 1: behind us is bride and blah blah blah.
- 5:42Speaker 2: It was terrible, weird and off putting. But as a
- 5:44Speaker 2: couple of guys who've been terrible, weird and off putting
- 5:46Speaker 2: a number of times and are still in the business,
- 5:48Speaker 2: it can happen. You bounce back. But then I.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Thought, well, wait a minute, why am I looking at
- 5:54Speaker 1: her purely through the lens of like national politics or
- 5:59Speaker 1: the presidency or advice presidency, if she's an effective senator,
- 6:03Speaker 1: if she's a mayor, if she's a governor. With me,
- 6:08Speaker 1: of all people, thinking the only thing that matters is
- 6:11Speaker 1: if you got a shot at the White House, it's
- 6:13Speaker 1: just so wrong. I apologize for thinking that even behind
- 6:17Speaker 1: the scenes. Friends, I apologize one more political note before
- 6:21Speaker 1: we end with a charming real life bit of audio
- 6:24Speaker 1: Michael Overre leading up to the fifteen But so Marjorie
- 6:28Speaker 1: Taylor Green I guess. On July fourth, tweeted that the
- 6:36Speaker 1: here it is the average age of the signers of
- 6:38Speaker 1: the Declaration of Independence on July fourth, seventeen seventy six,
- 6:43Speaker 1: was forty four years old, but more than a dozen
- 6:46Speaker 1: worth thirty five or younger. She wrote, then listed eight
- 6:50Speaker 1: names and ages Thomas Jefferson thirty three, John Hancock thirty nine,
- 6:53Speaker 1: James Madison twenty five, Alexander Hamilton twenty one, James Monroe eighteen,
- 6:57Speaker 1: Aaron Burr twenty, Paul Revere forty one, Hamilton twenty one,
- 7:03Speaker 1: Madison twenty five. That's amazing those shouldn't they been living
- 7:07Speaker 1: in their parents' basement complaining about how they can't find
- 7:10Speaker 1: a job. And finally, George Washington forty four. Well, the
- 7:15Speaker 1: only problem with that tweet, as the good folks on
- 7:18Speaker 1: Twitter I've refused to call it X pointed out, is
- 7:21Speaker 1: six of the eight people listed did not sign the
- 7:24Speaker 1: Declaration of Independence at all, including Madison, Hamilton Monroe, Burr Revere,
- 7:30Speaker 1: and George Washington. Other than that, it's a pretty good,
- 7:34Speaker 1: pretty good tweet, let's see. And the responses were rather funny,
- 7:42Speaker 1: as they can be on Twitter. I probably don't agree
- 7:45Speaker 1: with a lot of the people on politics, you responded,
- 7:48Speaker 1: but in the final signature was applied by Ben Franklin,
- 7:50Speaker 1: who was president of the time. How did you forget
- 7:53Speaker 1: Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan and Ronald Reagan. Let's see, somebody
- 8:00Speaker 1: somebody used a I to uh have a Tyrannosaurus rex
- 8:07Speaker 1: in Independence Hall and said, fun fact, one of the
- 8:10Speaker 1: signers was a literal dinosaur and I have the picture
- 8:13Speaker 1: to prove it. And and does everyone know it?
- 8:22Speaker 2: Michael are you? Are you okay?
- 8:25Speaker 1: I'm okay, all right, I'm okay, You're okay. Finally, this
- 8:29Speaker 1: at charming, yo, lad, I saw I saw responses to that,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but I didn't know what the original was.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So now that makes sense. The tweet I saw it,
- 8:37Speaker 2: said other people that signed the declaration depends on it
- 8:41Speaker 2: was Captain kirnk. You know well, and this one's pretty good.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Not only did MTG list six people who didn't sign
- 8:48Speaker 1: the declaration, she conveniently left out that Nicholas Cage stole it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: That made me laugh, didn't hassle off. I don't know
- 8:58Speaker 1: why I found that funny, but it did. And everyone
- 9:00Speaker 1: knows it.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Everyone knows it.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Does our final charming pole a clip needn't set up there, Michael,
- 9:06Speaker 1: in your opinion, that's not mine? Actually, oh it's not.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Is it the fishing pole?
- 9:11Speaker 4: Yes, it is this white father and son fishing, which
- 9:17Speaker 4: a young black man was hanging out with them, and
- 9:20Speaker 4: it was kind of a nice little heartwarming moment.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Let you have this Poe take.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Every young man should have one. It's my favorite colors.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Soon it is just be careful because that hook in
- 9:37Speaker 3: that thank short.
- 9:38Speaker 2: You don't want to get anythinger or anything like that
- 9:40Speaker 2: or anybody else.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Just watch your.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Line when you're really shake his ease.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Yeah, well you guys enjoy Thank you so much too.
- 9:51Speaker 2: What are you gonna do if you catch a fish?
- 9:52Speaker 2: We're gonna put it back. No, How'm gonna get it.
- 9:55Speaker 2: You're gonna carry to your lap the whole way there. Yes,
- 9:57Speaker 2: I'm gonna do that. It'll be like first and I
- 10:01Speaker 2: will keep it and eat it like a man I am.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That's fantastic. Kid couldn't have been older than eleven. Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 2: it was just really cute. Yeah that is awesome.
- 10:12Speaker 1: You can eat that damn fish. Yeah, like generosity too.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that is one thing about having kids that one
- 10:19Speaker 2: of millions things that are good about having kids around
- 10:23Speaker 2: all the time is no matter what's going on, you
- 10:25Speaker 2: have moments like that every single day.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah, And especially in the world where everybody's trying to
- 10:32Speaker 4: make everything racist and whatnot.
- 10:33Speaker 2: You know, these these two kids saw none of that.
- 10:36Speaker 2: They were just fishing, right exactly.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, well that's nice. Give a man a pole
- 10:44Speaker 1: ill fish for a week or something.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I could do that really dark joke that I've
- 10:50Speaker 2: laughed at many times.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh, what an unfortunate end of the podcast that would be.
- 10:59Speaker 1: There's no stuck up at him.
- 11:01Speaker 2: You think, Oh no, I don't think I've heard it.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I I'm feeling it. It's it's it's definitely dark.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Well, you made that really heartwarming note about kids, which
- 11:09Speaker 1: you know, I could riff on myself, but uh, but
- 11:13Speaker 1: you gotta pay it off now.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Teach a man to build a fire and he'll be
- 11:18Speaker 2: warm for the night. Set a man on fire, and
- 11:21Speaker 2: he'll scream for the rest of his life. Good lord,
- 11:23Speaker 2: that's the worst thing I've ever heard. No, I thought
- 11:25Speaker 2: it was.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I thought it was he'll be warm for the rest
- 11:28Speaker 1: of his life. See, it's a much more subtle implication.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I like my version, but oh my god, that is horrible.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Oh my god, who says that? Yeah, I know, Michael,
- 11:39Speaker 2: I can't believe. Yeah, well, I guess that's it. Jeez.
