- 0:11Speaker 1: He's the good report it. Anthony Alberanizi is finished as
- 0:18Speaker 1: Prime minister. After today it is over for him. I
- 0:23Speaker 1: doubt he'll quit because you know, Shane, it's dead in politics.
- 0:28Speaker 1: He'll limp on somehow. But today it was devastating for
- 0:33Speaker 1: his reputation and his authority. Let me tell you just
- 0:38Speaker 1: how bad it was for him, even before former Treasurer
- 0:41Speaker 1: Josh Friedenberg paid his own tribute in Bundeux to the
- 0:45Speaker 1: fifteen Jews slaughtered there on Sunday by two allegibuslim gunment,
- 0:50Speaker 1: when he unleashed one of the most devastating condemnations of
- 0:54Speaker 1: a prime minister I've ever heard. And I'll come to that,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but Albinizi is now so diminished. Are so scared of
- 1:01Speaker 1: the righteous fury of Jews and others over his extraordinary
- 1:06Speaker 1: failure to confront our lethal Jew hatred that we today
- 1:10Speaker 1: witness something appalling. Our Prime minister did not even dare
- 1:17Speaker 1: show his face at the first of the funerals for
- 1:19Speaker 1: the Bundai dead, the funeral of Rabbi Elie Schlanger, father
- 1:24Speaker 1: of five. The Opposition leader was there, the National's leader
- 1:28Speaker 1: was there, the new Southwest premier was there. But not
- 1:32Speaker 1: the Prime Minister to witness the grief. Here's the rabbi's
- 1:38Speaker 1: father in law.
- 1:40Speaker 2: The time of sorrow, aile Lomosana.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Why didn't you for see him? Tell early lover was
- 2:04Speaker 1: off the top of it. If the Prime Minister cannot
- 2:15Speaker 1: be at the funeral of a Jewish Australian rabbi murdered
- 2:18Speaker 1: in the worst massacre of Jews outside Israel in many,
- 2:22Speaker 1: many years, and on our soil, what does that tell you?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Whose Prime minister is he? What use is he to anyone?
- 2:33Speaker 1: And has he really truly put his image, his spin,
- 2:38Speaker 1: his fear of being booed above his duty, And that,
- 2:43Speaker 1: by the way, is exactly how we got here, pandering
- 2:46Speaker 1: from Muslim votes instead of heeding this the cries of
- 2:49Speaker 1: Jews for protection from the Jew hatred. Now, one of
- 2:55Speaker 1: the other ministers responsible for turning this govern so anti
- 2:57Speaker 1: Israel and for feeding this Jew hatred is Foreign Minister Pennywhoe. Well,
- 3:03Speaker 1: she did emerge from hiding to pay her tribute to
- 3:07Speaker 1: the bundaid dead who've paid with their lives for the
- 3:11Speaker 1: Jew hatred that this government and others let run. Right,
- 3:15Speaker 1: you look at the picture that she posted of that
- 3:18Speaker 1: of her self bringing flowers. She's hiding behind a Holocaust survivor.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That's her human shield, and she's placing her flowers not
- 3:29Speaker 1: at Bondou, where there be a huge crowd of Jewish
- 3:31Speaker 1: mourners who might boo her, but the Holocaust Center in Adelaide,
- 3:36Speaker 1: where there was almost no one. And on radio this morning,
- 3:40Speaker 1: Wong again hid behind Jews more Jews, hid behind their grief,
- 3:45Speaker 1: using that as an excuse for refusing to answer questions
- 3:49Speaker 1: about her own role in this tragedy, in this jew hatred.
- 3:54Speaker 3: This is a time where we are grieving and I
- 3:57Speaker 3: offer my condolences to Astralia, the Jewish Australians who have
- 4:03Speaker 3: lost loved ones, to those I offer my support to
- 4:08Speaker 3: those who are recovering in hospital. And I'm not going
- 4:11Speaker 3: to get into a political debate.
- 4:15Speaker 1: No, of course she doesn't. Dare Tony Burke, the Home
- 4:18Speaker 1: Affairs Minister, another key figure in turning the government against
- 4:22Speaker 1: Israel to court the Muslim vote. Well, I've shown you
- 4:25Speaker 1: before him being heckled at Bondo two days ago, and
- 4:28Speaker 1: today it was the turn of Deputy Prime Minister Richard Miles.
- 4:32Speaker 4: If a government's primary job, its first job is to
- 4:36Speaker 4: protect its citizens.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Have you failed the Jewish community?
- 4:39Speaker 4: Well, certainly I understand that people within the Jewish community,
- 4:44Speaker 4: but actually people across Australia will have a sense that
- 4:47Speaker 4: what occurred on Sunday night is shattering to people's sense
- 4:52Speaker 4: of security. It is really important that we are doing
- 4:56Speaker 4: everything within our power to stamp our the scourge of
- 5:01Speaker 4: anti Semitism. Anti Semitism is at the heart of this
- 5:06Speaker 4: and it's really important that we are doing everything in
- 5:09Speaker 4: our power to stamp it out.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Richard Marsley said, the guts that turn up, but otherwise
- 5:15Speaker 1: this is a morally bankrupt government led by a man
- 5:19Speaker 1: this morning was reduced to babbling inanities at a press
- 5:22Speaker 1: conference that he called it next to no notice, so
- 5:25Speaker 1: few journalists could turn up to ask him tough questions.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Love is more powerful than hate. That is what we
- 5:33Speaker 6: need to see.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I mean, how PATHETI you could read that in a
- 5:40Speaker 1: Hallmark greeting card. I mean, tell that line to the
- 5:43Speaker 1: families of the dead Prime Minister, will love bring back
- 5:46Speaker 1: those that they loved? And into this vacuum of leadership
- 5:51Speaker 1: step Josh Froedenburg, the former Treasurer, to express the rage
- 5:56Speaker 1: of so many Jews in words that will not soon
- 5:59Speaker 1: be forgotten.
- 6:01Speaker 7: This massacre at Bondi is the greatest stain on this nation,
- 6:11Speaker 7: has brought the greatest shame.
- 6:14Speaker 1: To our nation.
- 6:19Speaker 7: I'm here to mourn, but I'm also here to warn.
- 6:29Speaker 7: Unless our governments, federal and state, take urgent, unprecedented and
- 6:38Speaker 7: strong action. As night follows day, we will be back
- 6:44Speaker 7: grieving the loss of innocent life in another terrorist attack
- 6:50Speaker 7: in our country. Our Prime Minister, our government has allowed
- 6:55Speaker 7: Australia to be radicalized on his watch. It's time for
- 7:03Speaker 7: him to accept personal responsibility for the death of fifteen
- 7:08Speaker 7: innocent people, including a ten.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Year old child. It's time our Prime minister.
- 7:17Speaker 7: Accepted accountability for what.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Has happened here. Freedenburg went on to demand the government
- 7:25Speaker 1: finally cracked down on the hate preachers who've helped whip
- 7:28Speaker 1: up this lunatic Jew hatred that had two alleged gunmen,
- 7:33Speaker 1: two Muslims who police will allege even went to the
- 7:36Speaker 1: Philippines reportedly for terrorists, training people who allegedly shot dead
- 7:43Speaker 1: so many Jews at a celebration of Hanneka at Bondo Beach,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and in that Freedenburgh was joined by three former top
- 7:51Speaker 1: security chiefs Nick Warner, Duncan Lewis and Dennis Richardson, who
- 7:54Speaker 1: between them have led most of our top security organizations.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And they too said this is his promise of more
- 8:00Speaker 1: gun control. That's fine, but it's the Jew hatred that
- 8:04Speaker 1: needs to be fought and the ideology driving at, the
- 8:08Speaker 1: religion driving at, said Lewis, the former ASIO boss. But
- 8:13Speaker 1: even today Albanesi still couldn't bring himself to do anything
- 8:18Speaker 1: but prattle bland slogans, slogans smelling of the defeat.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Hard to legislate against such massive hatred.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh, then give up and go home. In fact, Albanese
- 8:37Speaker 1: and his officials don't want to talk about Islam or
- 8:40Speaker 1: immigration that I want to talk about keeping out immigrants
- 8:43Speaker 1: have grown up in cultures of Jew hatred. Even the
- 8:46Speaker 1: new head of the Australian Federal Police, Christy Barrett, she's
- 8:50Speaker 1: been playing that game. You know. This isn't about religion.
- 8:55Speaker 8: These are the alleged actions of those who have aligned
- 8:59Speaker 8: themselves with a terrorist organization, not a religion.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Not about religion. Hmm. The two alleged gunmen actually had
- 9:12Speaker 1: flags of the Islamic state at the scene of the crime.
- 9:17Speaker 1: What does the commissioner think the word Islamic in Islamic
- 9:21Speaker 1: state actually means. But the ABC's political editor also repeats
- 9:27Speaker 1: that nonsense. Oh, nothing to do with Islam.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Folks targeting Jews.
- 9:32Speaker 3: It is anti Semitic. But we are ascribing all sorts
- 9:35Speaker 3: of things right.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Their actions are not based on their religion.
- 9:42Speaker 1: No, no, no, nothing about religion. So I now am
- 9:45Speaker 1: going to leave you with a compilation of the preaching
- 9:49Speaker 1: of some Muslim clerics, including one from the very Islamic
- 9:53Speaker 1: center that the younger alleged gunman attended. And I'm going
- 9:57Speaker 1: to show you also a group of his bootarion then
- 10:00Speaker 1: chanting in the street. And all of these people are
- 10:04Speaker 1: from Sydney, and I will ask you to consider what
- 10:10Speaker 1: is this really? Nothing to do with religion, nothing to do
- 10:15Speaker 1: with immigration, And as you listen, you might just figure
- 10:22Speaker 1: that as well as the Jew hatred of the hard left,
- 10:25Speaker 1: this might well be the kind of preaching that has
- 10:28Speaker 1: helped make Jews fear for their lives. Here. It's the
- 10:32Speaker 1: hate preaching that this Albanizi government never seriously tackled.
- 10:37Speaker 9: Never the flag that they talk about that belongs and
- 10:41Speaker 9: a symbol for Isasis and tonde mal Kuaider, this is
- 10:46Speaker 9: the flag of the Muslims.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Raise up the flag of Fla Loa.
- 10:50Speaker 5: So you die as a martyr.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And Eliza don't prefers those who go out and fights
- 10:54Speaker 1: in his path, and he prefers them over those who
- 10:57Speaker 1: sits idle.
- 11:00Speaker 10: Okay, tell you what you had dim and you fashion
- 11:04Speaker 10: when you're a band. I love you, Alavy heavy intent
- 11:18Speaker 10: to would you coming at them?
- 11:20Speaker 1: All came in from Ahada, Benny.
- 11:24Speaker 11: Israel has always been a problem. They cannot fight people
- 11:32Speaker 11: that love death more than they love life.
- 11:36Speaker 6: Wellliver, I feel the.
- 11:37Speaker 12: Thing well, not about religion, guys.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Anthony Abernezi says, his focus so far has been on
- 11:58Speaker 1: gun control. No wonder this man does not now dare
- 12:03Speaker 1: go out to comfort the Jews, even at a funeral.
- 12:07Speaker 1: He has betrayed them and betrayed his country. It's so
- 12:17Speaker 1: tragic and the first funeral for the dead of Bondo,
- 12:21Speaker 1: Rabbi Eli Schlanger, his father in law, played a video
- 12:25Speaker 1: that Rabbi Schlanger had made to console fellow Jews still
- 12:30Speaker 1: grieving over the Hamas massacre of twelve hundred Israelis. It
- 12:34Speaker 1: sounded like a consolation of all Jews from the Rabbi
- 12:38Speaker 1: now from beyond the grave. It's my fellow.
- 12:43Speaker 13: Even this year has been an incredibly difficult for all
- 12:48Speaker 13: of us. We have suffered tremendously, Yet on the other hand,
- 12:54Speaker 13: we've witnessed the mighty hand of God. Want to wish
- 12:57Speaker 13: everybody good commenced similar simulator to inscribed and sealed in
- 13:03Speaker 13: the Book of Life, for happiness and joy of a
- 13:06Speaker 13: peace within our hearts and peace all around the world.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Maybe a year of complete victory. Rabbi Schlanger now dead.
- 13:21Speaker 1: That video played at his funeral where the Prime Minister
- 13:26Speaker 1: was absent. Joining me is the political panel Cameron Milner,
- 13:30Speaker 1: form chief of Staff, the Labor leader Bill Shorten and
- 13:32Speaker 1: now director of g xo's strategy, and Michael Costa, former
- 13:36Speaker 1: New South Wales Labor Treasurer. Cameron. Bill Shorten would not
- 13:43Speaker 1: have pursued the policies that we've seen from this government.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He most certainly would not have missed that funeral had
- 13:50Speaker 1: he been Labor leader. What do you make of the
- 13:53Speaker 1: Prime minister not fronting up?
- 13:57Speaker 5: Well, isn't he just disgusting? What a describe?
- 14:00Speaker 14: I mean, he's a Prime minister in name only, Andrew,
- 14:02Speaker 14: I mean Bob Hawk would be rolling in his grave
- 14:05Speaker 14: to see this is the Labour Party, that Anthony Albanese
- 14:07Speaker 14: is a titular head of no an absolute disgrace, happy
- 14:10Speaker 14: to turn up to rich O's funeral, and so he
- 14:13Speaker 14: should have, but not to rabbis rich O's but not rabbis.
- 14:16Speaker 5: And this is the problem, Andrew.
- 14:17Speaker 14: I mean, we've got a government that's completely complacent about
- 14:21Speaker 14: three thousand gardens who came in here on tourist visas,
- 14:23Speaker 14: when Egypt and Jordan wouldn't take one of them, wouldn't.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Take one of them as the closest neighbors. Yet we
- 14:28Speaker 5: let three thousand of them in.
- 14:29Speaker 14: We've let hate preachers and we've let hatred people come
- 14:32Speaker 14: to our country. We've been the trash bin of haters
- 14:35Speaker 14: from the Islamic world who come to our country, abuse
- 14:38Speaker 14: our laws and do not.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Share our values.
- 14:42Speaker 14: And now, in a completely predictable and I believe preventable event,
- 14:47Speaker 14: we have fifteen people who are dead in Australia because
- 14:49Speaker 14: of Anthony Albanese and his watch and the failure to
- 14:52Speaker 14: lead Australia as the Prime Minister of Australia.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I don't think it's all Michael. Michael Cossa. Don't think
- 15:01Speaker 1: it's all Anthony Abaneese's fault, but he most clearly failed
- 15:06Speaker 1: in his most basic duties to make such a tax
- 15:09Speaker 1: less likely. And there's no counting, no assurance that this
- 15:13Speaker 1: will be the last at all. What do you make
- 15:15Speaker 1: of it all?
- 15:17Speaker 2: Well, I'm absolutely disgusted. And I was there on a
- 15:22Speaker 2: Saturday Sunday afternoon. We left about ten minutes before the
- 15:24Speaker 2: shooting started. I was there with my sons and I
- 15:27Speaker 2: can tell you people were there to celebrate events, both
- 15:31Speaker 2: Harnica and also Christmas. We were taking phrogress in front
- 15:33Speaker 2: of the Christmas tree in the pavilion and you know,
- 15:37Speaker 2: to see the results of this government's policy. And look,
- 15:41Speaker 2: let's make no bones about this. Anthony Albanize has always
- 15:45Speaker 2: been a slogan peddler that has put his own personal
- 15:48Speaker 2: factional interests above the concerns that everyday Australians have and
- 15:53Speaker 2: that's why he's in the job that he's in. And
- 15:55Speaker 2: Cameron knows that as well as anybody. You know, when
- 15:58Speaker 2: Bill short was the leader, what going on? I have
- 16:01Speaker 2: to say that I'm absolutely disgusted that there's an attempt
- 16:05Speaker 2: now to deflect around gun control as being the cause
- 16:09Speaker 2: of this issue. I was involved as police minister in
- 16:11Speaker 2: the second round of Howard gun laws and that was
- 16:14Speaker 2: in the five twenty six on handguns. And I can
- 16:18Speaker 2: tell you we still have hand guns out there in
- 16:22Speaker 2: western Sydney and people being shot up. Guns is not
- 16:25Speaker 2: the issue. It's the ideology behind those guns. And let's
- 16:28Speaker 2: not kid ourselves here. You know, Islam, radical Islam is
- 16:35Speaker 2: an ideology dressed up as a theology. And yes, the
- 16:38Speaker 2: overwhelming majority of Muslims, as we saw by those Rai Daks,
- 16:42Speaker 2: are peaceful people. But we cannot turn a blind eye
- 16:46Speaker 2: to what's going on with radical Islam. And it has
- 16:49Speaker 2: to do with a religion. You can find sura's in
- 16:52Speaker 2: the Quran that you talk about hatred of Jews, and
- 16:55Speaker 2: I can tell you about the hadiths Andrew, they're full
- 16:58Speaker 2: of it. You know, there's one hadith on glorious one
- 17:00Speaker 2: that talks about killing Jews, you know, on the judgment day.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So let's not kidd ourselves. Is not about religion. Anthony
- 17:07Speaker 2: Albnis is a disgrace. You know, he should today suspend
- 17:11Speaker 2: our recognition of Palestine. You know, these people have been
- 17:14Speaker 2: rewarded by that recognition. A bus has not met any
- 17:18Speaker 2: of those conditions, and we've created a climate of anti Semitism.
- 17:22Speaker 2: And you know, I feel ashamed to be in Australian
- 17:25Speaker 2: today with a party that I was once a member of.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Look, I feel shame as well. It's just disgusting, it's heartbreaking, Cameron.
- 17:39Speaker 1: You heard also today Josh Fredenberg on the attack. Very
- 17:42Speaker 1: powerful personally. I do think it's spoiled a little by
- 17:47Speaker 1: the news that he plans to run again for election
- 17:49Speaker 1: in coup Young. I just think that sort of politicization
- 17:54Speaker 1: should have been left out for now. But if he
- 17:57Speaker 1: did run, what does it mean for the Liberals?
- 18:01Speaker 5: Well, don't we have a prime minister and someone in
- 18:04Speaker 5: the making.
- 18:04Speaker 14: I mean, Josh Fredenburg stood up and actually expressed the
- 18:07Speaker 14: values and the fear and the anger and the grief
- 18:11Speaker 14: that all of us as Australians are feeling. He stood
- 18:13Speaker 14: up as a true leader today. Anthony Albani is hidden
- 18:15Speaker 14: the shadows. Josh Friedenburg stood up And if he's going
- 18:18Speaker 14: to run for the Liberal Party in Kuyong and become
- 18:20Speaker 14: the leader, then maybe Australia has got a way out
- 18:22Speaker 14: of this, because it certainly hasn't.
- 18:24Speaker 5: With Albanese and with Freedenburg.
- 18:26Speaker 14: If he speaks the way he spoke today as the
- 18:28Speaker 14: nation's leader, Wou'd be a much better place.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Michael Costa, Well.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Well, look, you know, I don't care about the politics.
- 18:39Speaker 2: He can make a decision for what he wants to do,
- 18:41Speaker 2: but what his words were more important. I mean, he
- 18:44Speaker 2: talked about the factories of hate in Western Sydney. I'm
- 18:47Speaker 2: just going to add to that. There are factories of
- 18:49Speaker 2: hates all over the place that are funded by the government,
- 18:52Speaker 2: in our university, in our charity organizations.
- 18:54Speaker 1: You know, we have to deal with this.
- 18:57Speaker 2: There needs to be protocols put in place that anybody
- 19:00Speaker 2: that subscribes to radical Islam or extreme Islam does not
- 19:04Speaker 2: get funding from the taxpayer. That's the first thing.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Then there's the immigration.
- 19:09Speaker 2: That's what we need to deal with.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You know, Australians have had enough of this. We've got
- 19:13Speaker 1: to put an end to this. I know that's so true.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Listen to some of those hate preachers have just played.
- 19:22Speaker 1: How many of them came over here under either government,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you know, both sides of politics. That's got to stop.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Michael Costa, Cameron Milner, thank you very much to you both.
- 19:33Speaker 1: After the break and well an incredible message from this
- 19:39Speaker 1: all this grief today coming up late this afternoon. The
- 19:49Speaker 1: youngest of the two alleged Bondo gunmen, twenty four years old,
- 19:53Speaker 1: was today charged with fifty nine offenses, including fifteen murders.
- 19:57Speaker 1: By the way, one of the policemen shot will lose
- 20:01Speaker 1: the sight of his eye. But I want to come
- 20:04Speaker 1: back to the Prime minister failing to be at the
- 20:06Speaker 1: first of the funerals of the victims. I'm just stunned,
- 20:12Speaker 1: disgusted that I'm sickened what cowardice? Joining me is Rowan Dean,
- 20:17Speaker 1: editor in chief of The Spectator Australia, host of Outsiders
- 20:20Speaker 1: every Sunday at nine am and host of his own
- 20:22Speaker 1: show on Fridays at seven pm. Roan, have you ever
- 20:26Speaker 1: seen a prime minister of this country too scared to
- 20:30Speaker 1: look Jews in the eye, too scared to go to
- 20:33Speaker 1: an important funeral, or I don't know, maybe too unwelcome
- 20:37Speaker 1: to be wanted?
- 20:40Speaker 15: No, and no Australian ever has. And Anthony alberaniz he
- 20:45Speaker 15: has no moral authority to be the prime minister of
- 20:49Speaker 15: this country. In my opinion, he's lost that that died
- 20:53Speaker 15: along with fifteen people along with the innocence of Australia
- 20:56Speaker 15: and what you would hope would be the the clear
- 21:01Speaker 15: thinking of many Australian people on Sunday evening. I'm still horrified,
- 21:07Speaker 15: shocked by the entire event. But you know, I'm not
- 21:13Speaker 15: the first person to say I'm not surprised. You on
- 21:17Speaker 15: your show, Andrew, you and I together many many times,
- 21:21Speaker 15: certainly on my own shows that you mentioned and in
- 21:26Speaker 15: the Spectator. We have talked for two years about nothing
- 21:30Speaker 15: but the danger faced by Jewish Australians, by Australian Jews,
- 21:37Speaker 15: and that danger began the night of October seventh, the
- 21:43Speaker 15: horrific events in Israel. And you would have thought that
- 21:47Speaker 15: the world would have gone, oh, criky, okay, let's make
- 21:50Speaker 15: sure this never happens again. You would have thought we'd
- 21:52Speaker 15: had moral authority from the Prime Minister and his leading
- 21:56Speaker 15: senior cabinet ministers. Instead we had within twenty four to
- 22:00Speaker 15: forty eight hours, we had one of the most disgusting
- 22:03Speaker 15: events staged on the Sydney Opera House, which the Prime
- 22:06Speaker 15: Minister and the premiere did nothing to prevent. And since
- 22:11Speaker 15: that time we have seen repeatedly nearly every weekend, including
- 22:16Speaker 15: one of the most disgusting, shameful events in Australian history,
- 22:20Speaker 15: that vile march across the bridge and Sydney Harbor Bridge.
- 22:23Speaker 15: We have seen Australian spirit, Australians, innocence, Australians, goodwill, the
- 22:30Speaker 15: very things that attracted so many Jewish people, so many
- 22:34Speaker 15: Italian people, so many Muslim people, so many Greek people,
- 22:37Speaker 15: so many immigrants for decades to these shores. That free
- 22:40Speaker 15: spirit of Australia. We have seen that defiled on the
- 22:44Speaker 15: Sydney Harbor Bridge, on the steps of the Opera House,
- 22:46Speaker 15: and now to complete the trifector on our precious Bondi Beach.
- 22:50Speaker 15: And the victims are always the Jews. They are denigrated
- 22:54Speaker 15: by our senior ministers in the face of everything. As
- 22:59Speaker 15: you warned, as I wanted, as many people warned, how
- 23:01Speaker 15: on earth could the Albanezy government recognize Palestine in the
- 23:06Speaker 15: midst of the growing anti Semitism crisis.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Oh, for goodness, how could they? And for the Prime
- 23:14Speaker 1: Minister to say on the premierse even said on Monday, oh,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I never expected anything like this that happened here, When
- 23:22Speaker 1: his own ASIO boss told him exactly that in February,
- 23:28Speaker 1: this is what We're going to get with this jew
- 23:30Speaker 1: hatred on the street now. We've been told for years
- 23:33Speaker 1: Rowan that multiculturalism makes us strong. Bondai is a reminder
- 23:38Speaker 1: that that is not the case. Today are more shocking
- 23:42Speaker 1: and another shocking reminder that multiculturalism now means losing our
- 23:47Speaker 1: freedoms just to keep us safe from a tax like
- 23:51Speaker 1: that on Sunday. We need new laws now gun ownership.
- 23:55Speaker 1: We need new laws to protests at times of terror.
- 23:58Speaker 1: In fact, Premier Christmiths today said mass protest over international events,
- 24:02Speaker 1: it means like Gaza for now banned all of that
- 24:06Speaker 1: to keep people safe. And please say you so was
- 24:08Speaker 1: Please say or maybe we won't issue police with just
- 24:12Speaker 1: pistols now but also long arms, rifles and things. I mean, Wow,
- 24:18Speaker 1: multiculturalism comes with a price, doesn't it.
- 24:21Speaker 15: And it comes to the price of billards inserted this
- 24:23Speaker 15: afternoon in Martin Place to supposedly protect the public from
- 24:28Speaker 15: more of these insane lunatics. The reality is to start talking,
- 24:32Speaker 15: as Anthony Albinizi did about right wingers, Richard Marlin's talking
- 24:36Speaker 15: about Nazi's Chris Min's talk. The answer to anti Semitism, No,
- 24:42Speaker 15: the answer to anti semitism is to prevent people who
- 24:46Speaker 15: hate Jews from coming into this country, or from staying
- 24:49Speaker 15: in this country, or from being permitted to preach hatred
- 24:53Speaker 15: against Jews in this country. Plenty ways to stop anti semitism.
- 24:58Speaker 15: Gun control might be way down on the list there somewhere.
- 25:01Speaker 15: I mean, if they're suggesting that there are many people
- 25:04Speaker 15: with similar sentiments out there with guns, then we are
- 25:08Speaker 15: in a very very dangerous country.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And gunlod what a very good point. Start looking at
- 25:16Speaker 1: the people, but a very very good point. They're very
- 25:19Speaker 1: good point. Yeah, look at absolutely true. I mean, how
- 25:25Speaker 1: many others do they think are out there? Exactly correct? Rondine,
- 25:29Speaker 1: thank you so much for your time. I mean you've
- 25:34Speaker 1: got to ask, don't you, what has happened to our country,
- 25:37Speaker 1: how terribly it's changed. We've had this mass murder of Jews,
- 25:41Speaker 1: and that you know, a society apparently now is so
- 25:44Speaker 1: dangerous that we need all those new laws and you know,
- 25:49Speaker 1: bands and protests in the street now as well. We
- 25:53Speaker 1: need to give ourselves, give up our rights to save
- 25:56Speaker 1: ourselves from a danger that we have largely imported. And
- 25:59Speaker 1: what indictment that is of our politicians and from both sides.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Now I mentioned today that funeral of Rabbi Eli Schlanger,
- 26:07Speaker 1: the first of the funerals of the fifteen Jews killed.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Prime minister didn't show, but the Opposition, you leader, Susan
- 26:14Speaker 1: Lee and other politicians did, and Susan Lee joins me. Now,
- 26:19Speaker 1: Susan Lee, it's great to see you, even at a
- 26:22Speaker 1: terrible time like this. The Prime Minister did not show
- 26:25Speaker 1: up at the funeral. You're around the side of the
- 26:28Speaker 1: Bondei memorial. Tony Burke didn't show, Penny Wong didn't show.
- 26:33Speaker 16: What does that tell you, Well, you had to be
- 26:38Speaker 16: there to understand the emotion, the deep, deep distress and
- 26:42Speaker 16: also the anger, because I heard it around me, mixed
- 26:46Speaker 16: with the sobbing of the beautiful woman I sat with
- 26:49Speaker 16: who were close to Rabbi Schlanger, and it was just
- 26:53Speaker 16: an unbearable pain that they were in and you really
- 26:57Speaker 16: did have to feel that, just as here at the
- 27:00Speaker 16: Bondai Pavilion. I've been here all week, Andrew, and it's
- 27:03Speaker 16: a privilege to stand with Australians who are Jewish, who
- 27:08Speaker 16: are feeling so so let down by a government that
- 27:12Speaker 16: has failed them. It is just inconceivable that we can
- 27:17Speaker 16: have a situation where these gatherings cannot take place because
- 27:22Speaker 16: of safety, where children have to change out of their
- 27:25Speaker 16: school uniforms when they get on the bus to come home,
- 27:29Speaker 16: where people are hiding the symbols of their faith. And
- 27:32Speaker 16: the one that I feel so angry about is every
- 27:36Speaker 16: time I talk to university students and they explain to
- 27:40Speaker 16: me the hideous things that happen to them on campus.
- 27:44Speaker 16: And I mean, this has been going on for two years.
- 27:48Speaker 16: The time to take strong principal action against the Jewish
- 27:53Speaker 16: hatred was two years ago. And still from this Prime Minister,
- 27:57Speaker 16: we've heard nothing, and the community here is angry and
- 28:01Speaker 16: they have every right to be.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Oh boy, have we been hearing the anger? And I
- 28:08Speaker 1: think it is a righteous anger. It's not a political
- 28:12Speaker 1: anger to the alleged terrorism and the alleged terrorists. We
- 28:15Speaker 1: have two Muslim men, the father from India, the son
- 28:19Speaker 1: born here, the son attending an Islamic center of a
- 28:22Speaker 1: hate preacher, the two of them bringing the flag of
- 28:25Speaker 1: the Islamic state to the killings. Right there, Susan Leeah
- 28:29Speaker 1: three issues, immigration, hate preachers and Islam. Given that, what
- 28:33Speaker 1: would you do to stop the next of Attech.
- 28:38Speaker 16: Five, the great privilege of being Prime Minister. I give
- 28:41Speaker 16: this message to people who preach hate, incite violence, glorify terrorism,
- 28:48Speaker 16: engage in these activities that.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Are underpinned by radical Islam.
- 28:53Speaker 16: If you are here on a visa, you will be
- 28:56Speaker 16: deported and if you are a citizen, you will be arrested.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but a guy comes from India like this guy,
- 29:07Speaker 1: he was on a student visa. You don't know that
- 29:10Speaker 1: it's going to explode. Well, you know he's a Muslim
- 29:14Speaker 1: and he wants to come here. At this stage, what
- 29:16Speaker 1: are you going to do about a guy like that.
- 29:22Speaker 16: There's a lot of questions to be answered here and
- 29:26Speaker 16: we will be looking at our migration principles and in
- 29:30Speaker 16: the light of what has happened last weekend, there will
- 29:34Speaker 16: be necessary changes because I'm not confident Andrew, that our
- 29:39Speaker 16: agency resourced to well, I'm not confident that our agencies
- 29:44Speaker 16: are properly resourced to have the ability to control orders,
- 29:49Speaker 16: watch lists, act against people with evil intent. But you
- 29:55Speaker 16: are right, people have come into this country and we
- 29:57Speaker 16: need a measure before they ca to genuinely evaluate are
- 30:03Speaker 16: they anti submitic.
- 30:04Speaker 6: So that needs to happen. It needs to be part
- 30:06Speaker 6: of this, But the point is point this sky came
- 30:10Speaker 6: here to submittic hatred.
- 30:14Speaker 1: But we have and we have under both governments. So
- 30:17Speaker 1: this is the this is the crying shame of It
- 30:20Speaker 1: has started with Malcolm Fraser letting in forty nine years
- 30:24Speaker 1: ago Elevenese Muslims from the Civil War that his own
- 30:28Speaker 1: department said, by the way, they're going to struggle to
- 30:31Speaker 1: fit in. You know, they're poor and they're not used
- 30:34Speaker 1: to our ways, I guess, and he ignored them. And
- 30:38Speaker 1: this has been going on ever since. What will you
- 30:41Speaker 1: do to change that?
- 30:44Speaker 16: People who come to this country need to share our
- 30:46Speaker 16: values and we will have the necessary tests that are
- 30:50Speaker 16: not present that allow this. And there's another thing I
- 30:53Speaker 16: want to mention in the context of this individual, he
- 30:56Speaker 16: had something called a resident return visa which allowed him
- 30:59Speaker 16: to and go. He had to leave the country at
- 31:02Speaker 16: certain times and then come back in. But every time
- 31:05Speaker 16: he came there was no test, there was no evaluation.
- 31:08Speaker 16: So that is just ridiculously slack and that needs to change.
- 31:13Speaker 16: So there is a whole range of different visas issued
- 31:17Speaker 16: in different circumstances that have allowed people who have this hatred,
- 31:22Speaker 16: this Jewish hatred in their hearts and the other measure,
- 31:25Speaker 16: of course, is what we need to do about the
- 31:27Speaker 16: hate preaching that is happening now.
- 31:30Speaker 6: On our shores and is not acceptable. And while the
- 31:33Speaker 6: laws exist to arrest, they're not being implemented, but they
- 31:36Speaker 6: need to be. People need to be arrested if they
- 31:39Speaker 6: are citizens and deported if they are not.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but the point is here again. You know one
- 31:47Speaker 1: of the hate preachers from their very center that the
- 31:51Speaker 1: youngest alage gunman went to one of them where he
- 31:55Speaker 1: was saying the judgment day will come and the stones
- 31:59Speaker 1: and the tree is will say there's a Jew behind me, Muslim,
- 32:02Speaker 1: there's a Jew behind me, Come kill him. Was quoting
- 32:05Speaker 1: from one of the sacred texts, one of the Surah
- 32:08Speaker 1: of Islam. So what are you going to do. You're
- 32:10Speaker 1: going to go and clip out that page from the Qur'an.
- 32:14Speaker 1: You're going to ban preachers from quoting that particular passage.
- 32:18Speaker 1: What are you going to do if you're not going
- 32:21Speaker 1: to say, well, from Muslim countries, we're going to restrict
- 32:24Speaker 1: the immigration. What else can you do?
- 32:29Speaker 16: We have to take a strong stand against militant radical Islam,
- 32:33Speaker 16: and we have to know the people who are coming
- 32:36Speaker 16: to this country and to make those tests compulsory, carry
- 32:41Speaker 16: them out and make the assessments that mean that these
- 32:43Speaker 16: people don't come. But what you've just described, Andrew, is
- 32:46Speaker 16: hate preaching.
- 32:47Speaker 6: It is happy.
- 32:50Speaker 1: To tests. Yeah I know, will you say that, but
- 32:52Speaker 1: it's actually quoting the Koran or the sacred to themselves.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And what are the tests? Will you promise not to
- 32:58Speaker 1: kill Jews?
- 32:59Speaker 17: Oh?
- 32:59Speaker 1: Well, if I want to get in, I say, tick, No,
- 33:01Speaker 1: I won't kill Jews, you know, won't preach hate. You know,
- 33:05Speaker 1: I won't preach genocide. They come in and what do
- 33:07Speaker 1: you know? What do you know?
- 33:11Speaker 16: Our intelligence agencies are not aware of these individuals because
- 33:15Speaker 16: they don't have either the resources or they're not applied
- 33:18Speaker 16: to the necessary broadly defined character test. That needs to change.
- 33:23Speaker 16: Much needs to change, Andrew. And this has been a
- 33:27Speaker 16: line in the sand and a point in Australia's history
- 33:32Speaker 16: that we have to move forward differently from.
- 33:36Speaker 6: And I hear the concerns. I'm hearing them from.
- 33:39Speaker 16: So many of the Jewish Australians are non Jewish Australians
- 33:42Speaker 16: who are with me tonight, and the solidarity and their
- 33:46Speaker 16: real conviction is some hu that I am taking heart from.
- 33:50Speaker 16: For the future because things do have to change and
- 33:55Speaker 16: this community has been let down by their government. There
- 33:58Speaker 16: has been a massive failure of lifeleadership. You know that,
- 34:01Speaker 16: and I've heard it writ large and I've just the
- 34:05Speaker 16: anger is palpable.
- 34:07Speaker 6: The government needs to listen and they need to go.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Oh look, I've got that. Can I move on to
- 34:12Speaker 1: something else? Well? About tools? You've attacked the Albaniza government
- 34:19Speaker 1: for not adopting the report of Julian Jillian the Seagull,
- 34:24Speaker 1: the anti Semitism envoy. She gave it to them six
- 34:31Speaker 1: months ago or so, something more than forty recommendations. Can
- 34:34Speaker 1: I ask you about some of them? Which I kind
- 34:36Speaker 1: of like one of them where she says, why don't
- 34:39Speaker 1: you include terms in all public funding agreements with cultural
- 34:43Speaker 1: institutions or festivals so the government can just pull out
- 34:46Speaker 1: that funding straight away when those institutions promote or facilitate
- 34:52Speaker 1: or whatever hate or anti semitism. Boy, I'd like that
- 34:57Speaker 1: there's some riders festivals that would be filmed straight off
- 35:00Speaker 1: the taxpayer dome right there? Do you support that?
- 35:05Speaker 6: And yes, of course, and we.
- 35:07Speaker 16: Supported every single recommendation that Gillian made months ago.
- 35:12Speaker 6: It's been gathering dust on the Prime Minister's desk.
- 35:15Speaker 16: Absolutely, we support every single recommendation and I would like
- 35:19Speaker 16: to see much of what Gillian has recommended be legislated,
- 35:23Speaker 16: be actually in law because then it becomes compulsory.
- 35:27Speaker 6: And universities and institutions and you know, people in.
- 35:30Speaker 16: The public sector cannot get away with the behavior that
- 35:34Speaker 16: they have where it seems for the last two years
- 35:37Speaker 16: they're you know, they're blatant anti semitism, they're cruel treatment
- 35:44Speaker 16: of particularly young Jewish students.
- 35:47Speaker 6: It needs a legal sanction.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Look, if you started ripping off university funding for not
- 35:55Speaker 1: cracking down on some of the anti semitism being preached there,
- 35:58Speaker 1: and they've got to list the names teams, that would
- 36:01Speaker 1: be wonderful. But they'd be screaming about academic freedom and
- 36:04Speaker 1: free speech. But boy boy, we need a revolution here.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Susan Lee, thank you so much for your time.
- 36:09Speaker 6: You're interested in them screaming thank you?
- 36:11Speaker 1: An not interested? No good on you, thank you. After
- 36:17Speaker 1: the break, Now, where is our Prime Minister while Australian
- 36:21Speaker 1: freedoms are under attack? Is certainly not at the synagogues.
- 36:27Speaker 1: We will have a look where he is after this
- 36:34Speaker 1: now police will claim the agency certainly reported that the
- 36:38Speaker 1: two alleged gunmen from Bondai last month traveled to the
- 36:42Speaker 1: Philippines to the southern island of Mindanao, where there are
- 36:46Speaker 1: many radicals in the groups. I've been there, and there's
- 36:48Speaker 1: a mood certainly there. These alleged gunmens spent a month
- 36:53Speaker 1: there where they got allegedly military training, or the Philippines
- 36:56Speaker 1: government denies it. Now I've spoken with now reformed Islamist
- 37:01Speaker 1: who has himself spent time with the militants in mind
- 37:03Speaker 1: and Now, and he tells me some of the story
- 37:07Speaker 1: suggests that these two guys weren't particularly cluey about the
- 37:11Speaker 1: way thing they were doing things. I mean, they flew
- 37:13Speaker 1: into Mindanao rather than take a boat there from say Indonesia,
- 37:18Speaker 1: I mean, which would be much harder to trace trace
- 37:21Speaker 1: their movements. They also went, in his opinions, to the
- 37:24Speaker 1: wrong city, not to one where the Islamic state were strong.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Who knows where they eventually ended up. And it seems
- 37:31Speaker 1: from their alleged actions on Sunday, this is the Reformed
- 37:36Speaker 1: Islamist that they weren't trained that well, which to my
- 37:40Speaker 1: source suggests they actually went there, maybe less for training
- 37:45Speaker 1: than to get authorization religious permission from the Islamic state
- 37:50Speaker 1: from their appointed agent or representative there to do as
- 37:53Speaker 1: they did. But back to the Prime Minister, didn't dare
- 37:59Speaker 1: to go to today funerals or to visit a synagogue.
- 38:03Speaker 1: But he is the night at a Catholic cathedral, Saint
- 38:07Speaker 1: Mary's in Sydney. Join me from there is Scone's Investigations
- 38:11Speaker 1: reporter Jonathan Lee. Jonathan, thank you so much for following
- 38:16Speaker 1: this the Prime minister for us. What is happening at
- 38:20Speaker 1: the cathedral? Why is he there and not at a synagogue?
- 38:26Speaker 18: Well, good evening to you, Andrew, and good evening at
- 38:28Speaker 18: home cloisters, choirs and Christmas carols chrismins. The New Southwest
- 38:32Speaker 18: Premier indicated tonight's gathering was supposed to be about recognizing Christmas.
- 38:36Speaker 18: It now appears it's an ecumenical service recognizing all faiths
- 38:40Speaker 18: during the holiday season. But specifically is Anthony Albanezi just
- 38:44Speaker 18: spoke about from one iconic venue, Bondai Beach to hear
- 38:49Speaker 18: Saint Mary's Cathedral. It's specifically about honoring the dead, the
- 38:53Speaker 18: first responders in the Jewish community which were targeted in
- 38:56Speaker 18: Sunday's gruesome attack. He spoke a short time ago on stage.
- 39:00Speaker 18: I can be generous and say it was perhaps the
- 39:03Speaker 18: best I've heard him speak over the last three or
- 39:05Speaker 18: four days, if you don't mind me paraphrasing. Very briefly,
- 39:08Speaker 18: he talked about grieving with all those who lost their lives,
- 39:11Speaker 18: the Jewish Australians who were deliberately targeted the darkness of
- 39:15Speaker 18: anti Semitism. He reflected with gratitude the bravery of the
- 39:18Speaker 18: first responders, talked about the selflessness of the heroes who
- 39:21Speaker 18: try to intervene and those who lost their lives, the
- 39:24Speaker 18: pure evil last Sunday that will never overcome courage and darkness,
- 39:28Speaker 18: and said, we wrap our arms around the Jewish community.
- 39:31Speaker 18: You are Australian and all Australians stand with you.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Andrew, so he's done that, We stand with you Jewish
- 39:42Speaker 1: Australians in the Catholic cathedral. He didn't say it in
- 39:45Speaker 1: a synagogue.
- 39:46Speaker 18: Any explanation for that, no, no, no explanation from that
- 39:53Speaker 18: up at the lectum. But there's justifiable questions about why
- 39:57Speaker 18: it's here, why there's not the opportunity had longer press
- 40:00Speaker 18: conferences to give journalists the chance to ask those heatey
- 40:03Speaker 18: questions that seek that we seek answers to and deserve
- 40:07Speaker 18: answers to, and the fronting up to be with the
- 40:09Speaker 18: Jewish community at their time of grief. It's very clear
- 40:12Speaker 18: that he isn't wanted. Perhaps the bigger and more pertinent
- 40:16Speaker 18: question is should he still be there though, and should
- 40:18Speaker 18: he give them the chance to front him head on.
- 40:20Speaker 18: I don't know what's gone on behind the scenes, but
- 40:23Speaker 18: it certainly looks incongruous to be here and not at
- 40:26Speaker 18: other places of reflectful mourning where the community seeks those answers.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Andrew, oh, look, that has a very well expressed Jonathan, Look,
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't know you, I'm sure would Is it usual?
- 40:42Speaker 1: Is it common for us not to be able to
- 40:46Speaker 1: tell anyone where he is tonight until he was there
- 40:49Speaker 1: and speaking. I would say yes.
- 40:55Speaker 18: In this regard, I would say also yes, considering the
- 40:58Speaker 18: fact that Christmas markets have been it around the world.
- 41:00Speaker 18: Perhaps that's somewhat cynical. You might say it's to stop
- 41:04Speaker 18: protest as being here, but it's certainly not uncommon for
- 41:07Speaker 18: us to be told that we can't reveal the Prime
- 41:09Speaker 18: Minister's location until he has arrived. The street has been
- 41:11Speaker 18: closed off for some distance, there's been a drone in
- 41:14Speaker 18: the air I suspect that's probably for security reasons also,
- 41:17Speaker 18: so not unusual in that respect and not unusual by
- 41:19Speaker 18: global standards either.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Another sign of how much this country has changed from
- 41:27Speaker 1: twenty years ago. Unbelievable. Jonathan Lee, thank you so much
- 41:30Speaker 1: for that update, really appreciate it. After the break, the
- 41:32Speaker 1: Prime Minister today Dodge the first of the funerals of
- 41:35Speaker 1: the Bundai dead, this one tomorrow that it's going to
- 41:38Speaker 1: be the most traumatic yet among the many politicians paying
- 41:46Speaker 1: their respects today the Bundai memorial and the funeral service,
- 41:50Speaker 1: first funeral service where former Prime Minister Tony abbottsus and
- 41:55Speaker 1: Lee has talked to before National's leader David Little Proud,
- 41:58Speaker 1: local member of Legorist Spend is there the memorial and
- 42:02Speaker 1: tomorrow this is going to be even more grief with
- 42:04Speaker 1: the funeral of the youngest victim, ten year old Matilda,
- 42:09Speaker 1: and she was given the most Australian name that her
- 42:12Speaker 1: Ukrainian parents could think of. Shot dead in the petting
- 42:17Speaker 1: zoo and in front of her sister joining me are
- 42:20Speaker 1: Scarney's host Anika de Georgia, who has been in BONDEU
- 42:23Speaker 1: covering the aftermath of this massacre. As Scarny's host Harley Stearns, Danika,
- 42:31Speaker 1: so much grief and so much anger, and you will
- 42:33Speaker 1: have witnessed so much of it over the last few days.
- 42:37Speaker 17: It's almost difficult to put it into words. Andrew, that
- 42:40Speaker 17: the grief, the sorrow, the anger, the shock that the
- 42:43Speaker 17: community is feeling, not just the Jewish community but Australians
- 42:46Speaker 17: in general. I was there but for the last few days,
- 42:50Speaker 17: and that the flowers that we're seeing at the memorial
- 42:53Speaker 17: has gone from very very small to every day getting
- 42:56Speaker 17: progressively bigger. People going down there, holding each other, sitting
- 43:00Speaker 17: in quiet reflection, and it's interesting because it feels like Bondai,
- 43:04Speaker 17: but nothing is really ever the same. One thing that
- 43:08Speaker 17: I did really notice, Andrew, was for the last two years,
- 43:12Speaker 17: Jews have been scared to wear the Star of David,
- 43:15Speaker 17: you know, as a necklace. They've been scared to even
- 43:17Speaker 17: be proudly waving the Israeli flag. But down at that
- 43:21Speaker 17: memorial they were proudly waving it. They were proudly showing
- 43:24Speaker 17: the Star of David. And once they were told no,
- 43:27Speaker 17: don't bring the Israeli flag down to a protest because
- 43:30Speaker 17: you know, we might arrest you. It might offend, you know,
- 43:33Speaker 17: the pro Palestinian side. But now, in the wake of
- 43:36Speaker 17: this tragedy, they are proud to be Jews, they are
- 43:40Speaker 17: proud of who they are. But you know, I don't
- 43:42Speaker 17: know how they move on from such a tragedy. And
- 43:45Speaker 17: as you said, a ten year old Matilda will be
- 43:47Speaker 17: laid to rest tomorrow. It's just unthinkable, unthinkable.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Holly, Holly Steans. Can the Prime Minister for to skip
- 43:56Speaker 1: that funeral too?
- 44:00Speaker 8: I mean, Andrew, that was so notable to me today,
- 44:03Speaker 8: the Prime Minister's absence, not even as a leader, but
- 44:06Speaker 8: as a human, as human decency. He should have been
- 44:08Speaker 8: there today. The Prime Minister said today, you can't legislate
- 44:12Speaker 8: your way out of this hate. He said, I quote
- 44:15Speaker 8: it's hard, Yes, it is hard. But you know what
- 44:18Speaker 8: is harder ten year old Matilda's parents having to bury
- 44:21Speaker 8: their kind, loving daughter and her whole life.
- 44:25Speaker 6: She had her whole life ahead of her.
- 44:27Speaker 8: That's what's truly hard. I mean, the children of Rabbi
- 44:30Speaker 8: Elie Schlanger, who have to grow up without a father,
- 44:33Speaker 8: are the youngest who will never even get to know him.
- 44:35Speaker 8: I mean, that's what is really hard. The Prime Minister.
- 44:39Speaker 8: What's annoying me at the moment. He says he can't
- 44:41Speaker 8: legislate his way out of it. Well, if you can't
- 44:43Speaker 8: do that, or you're finding it too hard, then move
- 44:46Speaker 8: out of the way and make some make way for
- 44:48Speaker 8: someone who can. There are so many options available to him.
- 44:52Speaker 8: And these are the conversations that I've been having with
- 44:54Speaker 8: people this week. People want action, they don't want words.
- 44:58Speaker 8: They want our politician to get back to Parliament, and
- 45:02Speaker 8: they can start by implementing the roadmap of Jillian Siegel's recommendations.
- 45:05Speaker 8: That would be a really good start. It's right in
- 45:07Speaker 8: front of him. I mean, shut down the hate preachers,
- 45:10Speaker 8: deport them, sanction them, overhaul the immigration system. We all
- 45:14Speaker 8: can see common sense here. And for our Prime Minister
- 45:17Speaker 8: to be seemingly hiding and not coming out and the
- 45:21Speaker 8: least he could do was space up and be at
- 45:23Speaker 8: those funerals today, but he was afraid that he was
- 45:25Speaker 8: going to face criticism and that's just not a true leader.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Yeah, let's not forget that there are many authors of
- 45:35Speaker 1: this climate of intolerance to Jews, and I would include universities.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Some of their actions have been disgracedful, not all of them,
- 45:45Speaker 1: but you know, not cracking down and some of the
- 45:47Speaker 1: protests are making Jewish students feel very very unsafe. Denika,
- 45:53Speaker 1: you just heard. I hope you were listening as Susan Lee,
- 45:56Speaker 1: the opposition leader, saying that she backed to the Jillian
- 45:59Speaker 1: Siegel record mandation to withdraw money from institutions that didn't
- 46:04Speaker 1: tackle due hatred, and Susan thee said specifically that included universities.
- 46:10Speaker 1: If she were boss, that's going to raise questions of
- 46:13Speaker 1: freedom of speech. Do you care?
- 46:15Speaker 17: No, I don't care, Andrew, I don't care because this
- 46:18Speaker 17: has been the problem since day one. You know, we
- 46:21Speaker 17: tiptoe around all these issues and look what's happened. It's
- 46:24Speaker 17: culminated in the second big loss of life in Australia's
- 46:28Speaker 17: history and the Bondai massacre. The time for tiptoeing around
- 46:31Speaker 17: the issues of radical Islam are over. We are absolutely
- 46:35Speaker 17: done with it. And there is a difference between freedom
- 46:39Speaker 17: of speech, and there's a difference between freedom of speech
- 46:42Speaker 17: that then ventures into hateful and violent territory and that
- 46:46Speaker 17: is what we have been seeing and our leaders have
- 46:50Speaker 17: been too scared to confront it. They've been too scared
- 46:53Speaker 17: to have courage on the very issue. And we know
- 46:56Speaker 17: that the Prime Minister can't even talk about anti Semitism
- 46:59Speaker 17: without talking about Islamophobia, for example. But this is going
- 47:03Speaker 17: to take labor to wake up to it. It's going
- 47:06Speaker 17: to take Muslim leaders as well to start calling out
- 47:09Speaker 17: radical Islam. It's going to be making tough decisions like
- 47:13Speaker 17: shutting down some of those centers, like the ones that
- 47:15Speaker 17: you spoke about with Susan Lee in that interview, overhauling
- 47:19Speaker 17: the migration system. And if you're in this country and
- 47:22Speaker 17: you don't respect our values and you're here on a
- 47:24Speaker 17: visa or you're not a citizen, it's time for you
- 47:28Speaker 17: to go home, as time to deport them. Start making
- 47:31Speaker 17: some tough decisions. Because Andrew made this point. Radical Islam
- 47:37Speaker 17: is incompatible with the Western democracy. It does not fit
- 47:39Speaker 17: in with our values. We don't want it. We don't
- 47:42Speaker 17: want it. It's time to make tough decisions, except of
- 47:47Speaker 17: course universities.
- 47:48Speaker 1: There it's about leftism. And I've seen laws against free
- 47:51Speaker 1: speech twists in the hand of the user. So there's
- 47:54Speaker 1: more likely to be used against those who criticize Islam
- 47:58Speaker 1: than those who advocated or angry for the version of it.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Holly how much of the anger at the government, though,
- 48:06Speaker 1: let's be fair, is looking for a scapegoat, or how
- 48:10Speaker 1: much of it is righteous anger.
- 48:15Speaker 8: I think it's all righteous anger, Andrew. I mean, when
- 48:18Speaker 8: you look at this, people have been tolerant, so tolerant
- 48:21Speaker 8: of what we've seen and been allowed what has been
- 48:23Speaker 8: allowed to fester in our country over the last couple
- 48:26Speaker 8: of years. I've covered numerous protests where I've been there.
- 48:29Speaker 8: They have been chanting death to the Jews, carrying terrorist flags,
- 48:33Speaker 8: myself being abused and my life being threatened as well.
- 48:36Speaker 8: Our leaders have just watched this and have allowed this
- 48:39Speaker 8: to fester. We haven't been allowed to question immigration without
- 48:44Speaker 8: being called racist. And it shouldn't have taken fifteen innocent
- 48:48Speaker 8: people for us to now be having this conversation about immigration.
- 48:52Speaker 8: We need better checks and balances. Do the people that
- 48:55Speaker 8: are living in our country value our way of life?
- 48:58Speaker 8: And when we see clear evidence of people who don't
- 49:00Speaker 8: share our values, it makes us question every average Australian
- 49:04Speaker 8: question now. And I think it has taken for what
- 49:06Speaker 8: the brutality we saw on the weekend for us to
- 49:09Speaker 8: stand up and speak now because these people don't share
- 49:12Speaker 8: our values and it's making a lot of people question
- 49:15Speaker 8: why and how they still the move here.
- 49:20Speaker 1: True true, Danika de Georgia, Holly Stuns, thank you so
- 49:23Speaker 1: much for your time. Up next, Sherry Markson good Night,
