- 0:00Speaker 1: That might have been the best shot of the entire show. Yeah,
- 0:03Speaker 1: during the third leaping into battle against Bella, do you
- 0:08Speaker 1: think what he did would actually brave or was it
- 0:10Speaker 1: more cowardly because he was just saying, oh, I messed up.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm not going to own up to any of.
- 0:14Speaker 2: It, only because we know how it turns out. You
- 0:19Speaker 2: might actually be right.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Made the Review. Be with you
- 0:25Speaker 1: with Nick the show. I'm Joe, I'm Nick, and today
- 0:29Speaker 1: we are talking about Rings of Power season two. We
- 0:33Speaker 1: have crossed the threshold. We are over the finale and
- 0:36Speaker 1: we're going over all of the madness that is happening
- 0:39Speaker 1: in Middle Earth. But before we get to that next
- 0:43Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Man?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Look?
- 0:46Speaker 2: Thank you? Not as good as you, but we'll try it.
- 0:49Speaker 2: We're trying.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We're actually not this nice to each other usually. Yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 1: really only an on camera thing.
- 0:54Speaker 2: We strongly dislike each other in real life strongly. I'm
- 0:59Speaker 2: doing well. I I cannot stop thinking about the finale
- 1:04Speaker 2: of Rings and Rings and Power season two. It's uh, well,
- 1:07Speaker 2: we're going to get into it, but it has been
- 1:09Speaker 2: living rent free in my head for about three or
- 1:11Speaker 2: four days. So it's just an absolute insane spectacle. Yeah,
- 1:19Speaker 2: that's how that's how I'm doing.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Stuck in Middle Earth. I don't blame y, Yeah, I
- 1:25Speaker 1: don't blame yet there are as horrible as Middle Earth
- 1:27Speaker 1: can be, there are times where I'm like, you know,
- 1:30Speaker 1: it doesn't look so bad.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if I had that thought at
- 1:35Speaker 2: all during this episode, but of this.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Episode, yeah, definitely not. But like, as as you point out,
- 1:43Speaker 1: you know, this really was a spectacle, and we've had
- 1:45Speaker 1: a lot of spectacle going on in TV in streaming
- 1:50Speaker 1: recently with Agatha and I believe the fourth episode just
- 1:54Speaker 1: coming out, and man, that was so fun. That show
- 1:57Speaker 1: is so fun. I'm having such a great time with.
- 2:00Speaker 2: That show was a perfect amount of fun and like
- 2:03Speaker 2: spooky for this time of year two. It's it's just
- 2:06Speaker 2: like a joy to watch, and not all the MCU
- 2:11Speaker 2: TV series have been like that. And I was just like,
- 2:14Speaker 2: it's such a joy and so well done that I
- 2:17Speaker 2: found myself thinking why have they not done? Like how
- 2:20Speaker 2: come they've put products like Secret Invasion on there? You know,
- 2:24Speaker 2: like ah, shots fired well because it just wasn't very good,
- 2:28Speaker 2: you know, But then you get something.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Like Acothol that was generous.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you get something like agathol alonger like this is fantastic,
- 2:33Speaker 2: like this is what the MCU is good at, and
- 2:36Speaker 2: just kind of makes you question some of the things
- 2:38Speaker 2: they've done that weren't good but overall spooky fun check
- 2:43Speaker 2: it out honestly.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I mean, you could do an entire episode on unjust
- 2:50Speaker 1: the MCU post endgame and like why it probably isn't
- 2:55Speaker 1: firing on all cylinders all the time, right, But yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I agree it. I wish more of their products were
- 3:05Speaker 1: like this right. It's where or at least like the
- 3:08Speaker 1: TV streaming stuff right where you can just put it on,
- 3:10Speaker 1: just have a good time, right down. The Witch's Road
- 3:15Speaker 1: song that we got in that episode super cool. Loved
- 3:18Speaker 1: that little curse demon that flies in.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Not super creepy, loved that really.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we will have our own Agatha episode at
- 3:28Speaker 1: some point, well not some point what it's done, but yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: just we're having a great time. If you want to
- 3:36Speaker 1: keep up with us and our thoughts on Agatha as
- 3:40Speaker 1: it is coming out, you know, follow us on threads
- 3:42Speaker 1: at May the review be with you and subscribe on
- 3:45Speaker 1: YouTube if you haven't already, please you know, and hit
- 3:48Speaker 1: that bell. It helps us out so very much. But
- 3:52Speaker 1: let's get into brings up Power. Okay, so we are
- 3:59Speaker 1: at We're done. We're done with season two of Rings
- 4:01Speaker 1: of Power. Crazy. It was a lot in eight episodes.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It honestly kind of felt like its own like trilogy
- 4:08Speaker 1: of movies at times, and we have so many different storylines,
- 4:14Speaker 1: many of them all kind of coalescing in this episode.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And just you know, you were talking earlier about how
- 4:21Speaker 1: this is living rent free in your head, where are
- 4:25Speaker 1: you in the wake of all of this.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I am mentally just I'm still blown away at like
- 4:37Speaker 2: the insane scope of that finale and the amount of
- 4:42Speaker 2: like story completion slash story like just continuing the build
- 4:51Speaker 2: up that we got. Right, we got a lot of resolution,
- 4:54Speaker 2: but we also got a lot of setup for the
- 4:56Speaker 2: next season already from like each different section of Middle Earth,
- 5:03Speaker 2: if you will. Right, Like the fact that the episode
- 5:07Speaker 2: started off with the dwarves and kas like doom, Like
- 5:14Speaker 2: that was just so such an insane way to start
- 5:17Speaker 2: the episode, like my jaws on the floor of the
- 5:19Speaker 2: rest of it, you know, it's like this is how
- 5:20Speaker 2: we're starting the last episode, Like this is insane. So
- 5:24Speaker 2: I'm just still mentally just not recovered. I think from
- 5:28Speaker 2: the finale it was fantastic. That might be the best
- 5:31Speaker 2: episode they've done yet, which is insane to say, because
- 5:33Speaker 2: there's been some really good episodes.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I would agree with that. I think where I'm at
- 5:40Speaker 1: with this particular episode, I think it was one of
- 5:42Speaker 1: its strongest episodes. I don't think I'm as like hot
- 5:47Speaker 1: on this show overall as you are right now, and
- 5:51Speaker 1: we'll definitely talk more about that toward the end of this.
- 5:56Speaker 1: There are things about the show that I that I love.
- 5:58Speaker 1: There are things about the show that of like scratched
- 6:00Speaker 1: my head at Overall, I think I think it's a
- 6:03Speaker 1: good show. I think it's a good show, and it
- 6:08Speaker 1: makes me mad that it could be a great show,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and there are things that hold it bad. But again,
- 6:14Speaker 1: save that for the end. Let's start off, Nick, you
- 6:18Speaker 1: brought up Kazak Dum and the very strong easily the
- 6:23Speaker 1: strongest intro that they've ever had in any episode with
- 6:27Speaker 1: during the third and during the fourth, and during the
- 6:30Speaker 1: third breaking open that that wall of the mountain only
- 6:35Speaker 1: to discover this like huge canyon of Mitheral. It's it's
- 6:41Speaker 1: kind of mind boggling. I actually, for a moment I
- 6:43Speaker 1: thought we weren't going to see anything back there, like
- 6:45Speaker 1: the ring had deceived him all this time.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't have that thought. I thought it was well,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I didn't have that thought just because they kind of
- 6:55Speaker 2: had hinted at something else. I mean, I mean, and
- 6:57Speaker 2: we also know something else is in the mountain, right,
- 6:59Speaker 2: So I guess it's kind of like it was kind
- 7:00Speaker 2: of hard to not think that you're we're about to
- 7:03Speaker 2: just see this, you know, uh, terror be unleashed to
- 7:10Speaker 2: give you all exactly.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So all right, So, like you said, this was a
- 7:18Speaker 1: banger way to start, and this is something they have
- 7:20Speaker 1: been teasing since the first season that we were going
- 7:23Speaker 1: to get a bell Rock at some point, that this
- 7:25Speaker 1: is the bell Rock that Gandalf defeats in Fellowship, we're
- 7:29Speaker 1: gonna see him. Uh, And we finally got there and
- 7:32Speaker 1: he was glorious.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah, shot, magnificent scene. Right and then when when King
- 7:41Speaker 2: Dorn uh like just takes the leap of faith like
- 7:45Speaker 2: says goodbye and just swings his axe and it meets
- 7:49Speaker 2: the bell Rock's flame, Like what a freaking cinematic masterpiece,
- 7:54Speaker 2: Like so cool.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That might have been the best shot of the entire show. Yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 1: during the third leaping into battle so again.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And taking the ring off right before too right, just
- 8:04Speaker 2: like finally his mind is free and I realize this,
- 8:08Speaker 2: He's made a huge mistake. And of course we know
- 8:10Speaker 2: that like he doesn't complete his he doesn't completely right
- 8:14Speaker 2: is wrong there, because you know, having the the privilege
- 8:20Speaker 2: of knowing what happens. Kind of later on we know
- 8:23Speaker 2: that he did not win that battle.
- 8:24Speaker 1: But yeah, do you think what he did was actually
- 8:27Speaker 1: brave or was it more cowardly because he was just like, oh,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I messed up. I'm not going to own up to
- 8:32Speaker 1: any of.
- 8:32Speaker 2: It, only because we know how it turns out. You
- 8:39Speaker 2: might actually be right.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I mean like maybe he could with the ring. He
- 8:47Speaker 1: was like, oh, this goes really poorly if I stayed around,
- 8:52Speaker 1: All right, done your king? Now have fun with that man.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Uh, it's all seriousness. Though. I think that the dwarf
- 9:05Speaker 1: storyline in this season was probably my favorite. It's also
- 9:10Speaker 1: got the best character work between Duran, his father, Duran's wife,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and it's it was I don't know, like I was
- 9:20Speaker 1: legitimately like kind of I was. I was touched. Like
- 9:24Speaker 1: when when Duran is telling the story of like him
- 9:26Speaker 1: and his father, like arm wrestling right, and he's like,
- 9:29Speaker 1: there was no one stronger than my father. And then
- 9:32Speaker 1: for like that to come back and have the final
- 9:35Speaker 1: words of during the third be like, you know, I
- 9:37Speaker 1: I never like let you get close to winning, like
- 9:39Speaker 1: you were pushing because like you were always getting stronger.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That was cool. That was that was a nice like
- 9:45Speaker 1: final note to like leave on before you know shit
- 9:48Speaker 1: hits the fan. Let's I wanna I want to talk
- 9:56Speaker 1: everything about Kazakh Doom while while we're still here, we
- 9:59Speaker 1: have so many other stories to cover. So toward the
- 10:02Speaker 1: end of this episode, we we get back to Kazakh
- 10:05Speaker 1: Doom and we see that Duran and company have escaped
- 10:09Speaker 1: from the Bell Rock, who, as you point out, Nick,
- 10:11Speaker 1: will return at some point. That was something I was
- 10:13Speaker 1: actually a little scared about that the Bell Rock was
- 10:15Speaker 1: just gonna rekavoc and it was going to be like
- 10:17Speaker 1: a one and done sort of situation. It's not. There
- 10:20Speaker 1: is promise that this thing is going to return, unfortunately,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and we get this story about how the Dwarves are
- 10:30Speaker 1: coming to pay the tribute that they promised King during
- 10:33Speaker 1: the third that they were going to do for the
- 10:35Speaker 1: Rings of Power, and it seems as though there will
- 10:39Speaker 1: be some inner turmoil under the Misty Mountains very soon.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, might have a little political political turmoil for who
- 10:49Speaker 2: the rightful heir of the throne is coming up here
- 10:53Speaker 2: set up for season three, which you know, I guess
- 10:57Speaker 2: makes some sense, makes it a little bit more exciting.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I guess. I'm a world building world building perspective there
- 11:04Speaker 2: for the Dwarves, So we'll see what happens there and
- 11:10Speaker 2: so many Like I'm so intrigued with what's going to
- 11:12Speaker 2: happen with all the Dwarven rings, Like, I'm really intrigued
- 11:15Speaker 2: to see how that storyline goes, right, because like those
- 11:17Speaker 2: we know clearly infected by swarn, it's like not good.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It's a situation for the Dwarves, right, and we know
- 11:25Speaker 2: that they definitely don't end well. It doesn't end well
- 11:28Speaker 2: for them in the long term. So I'm really interested
- 11:31Speaker 2: to see what new storylines come out. And we're about
- 11:33Speaker 2: to meet other Dwarven civilizations essentially right in season three,
- 11:38Speaker 2: essentially as what they're setting up for, right, We've kind
- 11:40Speaker 2: of got it. We had a piece here in season
- 11:44Speaker 2: two with some of the other Dwarven lords or kings,
- 11:47Speaker 2: if you will, But we're probably gonna actually get to
- 11:50Speaker 2: meet a lot more of them this time, so that'll
- 11:53Speaker 2: be kind of a cool world to explore.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Further agreed, much looking forward to dwarf politics, he said,
- 12:06Speaker 1: but yeah, the promise so that that will be h So, yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 1: more more to look out there. I guess a next
- 12:13Speaker 1: logical place to go here is region. Most of the
- 12:17Speaker 1: story is pretty concentrated, right, like, this is where the
- 12:20Speaker 1: biggest like chaos is happening. This is where Sarn is,
- 12:23Speaker 1: This is where a lot of our main characters are. Uh,
- 12:26Speaker 1: And let's start with Saarn saur On. When we first
- 12:31Speaker 1: see him, he's with Keli Brimbore, right, and he's got
- 12:33Speaker 1: Calibrimbore pinned up against the wall. He wants to know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: what'd you do with my nine rings? Man?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yep. The scene with Keler Brimbroer and Sarn is like
- 12:41Speaker 2: such a tragedy for Keller bin bro you know, like
- 12:45Speaker 2: the great Elvin Smith, as Gladdriel keeps calling him. That's
- 12:49Speaker 2: all I kept thinking, just what a tragedy this man's well,
- 12:52Speaker 2: the end of his life became, you know, being being
- 12:57Speaker 2: being manipulated by Saarn to create these extremely powerful things
- 13:02Speaker 2: that will end up destroying Middle Earth and and then
- 13:05Speaker 2: and turned mentally and physically destroying him.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Uh.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Really sad, but also like incredible, incredible, like acting work
- 13:16Speaker 2: by both of them just unbelievable. There's some really cool
- 13:19Speaker 2: parts there too, right right with him and we get
- 13:23Speaker 2: maybe it's a little bit of a cheesy lion calling
- 13:25Speaker 2: Soro on the Lord of the Rings, you know, like
- 13:27Speaker 2: that's like they've done that a couple of times this season.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'm just like, when that happened, I was like, oh,
- 13:31Speaker 2: Joe hates this, just gonna hate that moment the Lord
- 13:35Speaker 2: of the Rings.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I loved that scene, and like, right before he said it,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I was like, don't you do it, don't you do it,
- 13:41Speaker 1: don't don't say it again. And then he did it,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and it was like, I hate you. I'm glad you're dying.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Winks a camera. Oh my god, what are we some
- 13:55Speaker 1: kind of Lord of the Rings? You're right, the acting
- 14:03Speaker 1: in that scene is phenomenal. I had to look up
- 14:06Speaker 1: the actor. Thank you for bringing this up. Charlie Vickers
- 14:09Speaker 1: plays the Man with many names, y, saar On and Man.
- 14:15Speaker 1: He is so compelling how he's able to have this
- 14:19Speaker 1: like stoic face and then at the same time like
- 14:22Speaker 1: bring on sadness with that one like single tear right, yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 1: as sar On, all right, let me ask you this,
- 14:28Speaker 1: all right, So sar On Calibrinborg gets him to cry.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And I wasn't sure if Saarn is crying because because
- 14:37Speaker 1: here there's a part of him that agrees with calibrimboor
- 14:41Speaker 1: who who says you are you are a prisoner of
- 14:43Speaker 1: the rings, you are not their master right, that you're
- 14:46Speaker 1: a slave to power is basically what he's saying. Or
- 14:50Speaker 1: is he crying because in his eyes, calibrin Bore has
- 14:56Speaker 1: done this to himself and and and he's dying, and
- 15:00Speaker 1: with that great knowledge and artistry is also leaving this world.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Almost lean more on like the fact that he did
- 15:08Speaker 2: kind of maybe come to at least appreciate the artistry
- 15:13Speaker 2: and what he can do, what Klibrenbore can do. And
- 15:16Speaker 2: so there's a part of him that's a little bit
- 15:17Speaker 2: sad that he's watching this like great Elven you know,
- 15:23Speaker 2: lord like essentially break down and leave this this world.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Although it's a little weird that he's said about it
- 15:30Speaker 2: since he's only did it, you know. So it's like
- 15:32Speaker 2: Sarn's like so manipulative man it's.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Calibern Moore said that, right, and before he's like, wow,
- 15:40Speaker 1: you're you're so great at deceiving you can even deceive yourself.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's exactly what it is. He's just deceived himself
- 15:48Speaker 2: to thinking he actually cares about him for a split moment.
- 15:52Speaker 2: So so creepy, you know. It's such a cool a
- 15:56Speaker 2: cool scene there. And I love Saarn's like and time
- 16:00Speaker 2: someone asked him who he is, like, are you sorro on?
- 16:03Speaker 2: I have many names. He's just like a fucking what
- 16:06Speaker 2: a thing? You know, such a good smirk too, and
- 16:11Speaker 2: he's looking at things the Orcs that ask him when
- 16:14Speaker 2: they walk in after these after Killer Brimbo has been killed.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Man, yeah, absolutely Savage. I don't I don't think that
- 16:24Speaker 1: this will be the last time uh we see calibrin Bore.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I think they they set it up very subtly.
- 16:33Speaker 2: There are a ways of keeping you alive. Must I
- 16:35Speaker 2: show you my mastery of that craft as well.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And then later in the episode, when Saurron stabs Gladriel
- 16:44Speaker 1: with the crown of more Goth, Uh, she's she's being
- 16:48Speaker 1: healed by uh Yoga lad and Elron and he's saying
- 16:57Speaker 1: that you know the darkness is spreading inside of her,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and it's it's the threatening to drag her immortal soul
- 17:02Speaker 1: into the shadow realm.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's and sert reference here, right.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I am told that Shadow of Mordor is a that
- 17:19Speaker 1: that's a video game that came out like ten twelve
- 17:21Speaker 1: years ago, and I am told that that is canon
- 17:26Speaker 1: and Calibrin bores in that game. I won't say in
- 17:29Speaker 1: what form it's way after all of this, so I
- 17:35Speaker 1: I mean, if if they are respecting that chronology, we
- 17:39Speaker 1: will see him again, but grabs differently.
- 17:43Speaker 2: So look forward to their interesting interesting.
- 17:48Speaker 1: But keeping the story and focused on a region transition
- 17:53Speaker 1: to the Orcs. You brought them up earlier, Nick, and
- 17:56Speaker 1: I think this is a good segue here how the Orcs.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Glug I had to look up his name. Uh, the
- 18:05Speaker 1: the only Orc that we've come to know, which too
- 18:08Speaker 1: bad because he's dead now.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Oh he had a wife and a kid. Yeah, he
- 18:15Speaker 1: meets on and we don't get to see it happen,
- 18:20Speaker 1: but we come to know that he becomes manipulated by
- 18:24Speaker 1: Saarn and the next time we see Gluke, uh, he's
- 18:28Speaker 1: in the forest greeting and ar. But before they meet
- 18:32Speaker 1: and Darn Gladi will get to have a conversation.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Yeah. The well, we see a dar looking very young
- 18:42Speaker 2: and very old school Elvin because he's got the ring
- 18:46Speaker 2: on that he he got from from l Rond, and
- 18:52Speaker 2: it's like de aging him, or not deaging him, like
- 18:54Speaker 2: healing him, I guess, from all of his wounds and
- 18:56Speaker 2: all the things he's gone through for the however many
- 19:00Speaker 2: years it's been.
- 19:01Speaker 1: It returns him too a fairer form.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah, very very cool scene, especially like after they have
- 19:08Speaker 2: their conversation and he takes off the ring. This transition
- 19:11Speaker 2: slowly back to his normal form was really really a
- 19:15Speaker 2: cool shot, I thought. And then of course I don't
- 19:22Speaker 2: know if you want to talk about their conversation at all.
- 19:24Speaker 1: But yes I do.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I want to talk about all of it, Dick, all right,
- 19:30Speaker 2: I'm listening.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So this turns into an alliance that had been teased
- 19:37Speaker 1: in previous episodes, and the way that that alliance had
- 19:41Speaker 1: been offered up before it came off as very I'm
- 19:45Speaker 1: going to use you and I when I do, I'm
- 19:49Speaker 1: going to get what I want and I'm going to
- 19:51Speaker 1: get all of this power right, Whereas this time the
- 19:54Speaker 1: proposed alliance comes off very differently, and it feels as
- 19:57Speaker 1: though like the ring actually like hell, he clarify his
- 20:01Speaker 1: thoughts on and he's like, I actually don't want power
- 20:03Speaker 1: and he doesn't, right, Like there's an there's a great image, right,
- 20:09Speaker 1: a great allegory of like he literally gives up power.
- 20:12Speaker 1: He takes the ring of Power off and he gives
- 20:13Speaker 1: it back to Galadriel clearly, like you know, he's interested
- 20:18Speaker 1: in being a leader, but like in receiving more power,
- 20:21Speaker 1: that's not his mo. He he just wants to take
- 20:23Speaker 1: his children back to more door where they can live peacefully,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and like that's all he Actually, he's honest, right, like
- 20:30Speaker 1: it was. We weren't clear if if he was being
- 20:32Speaker 1: deceitful about that in the past, or if like the
- 20:34Speaker 1: whole family thing was just a way of controlling the Orcs,
- 20:37Speaker 1: and maybe it is, but there is a part of
- 20:38Speaker 1: that that's honest, right, Like he does care about them.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And then well, yeah, Saurn gets to the gets to them,
- 20:50Speaker 2: and very beautiful symbolism there too on how they kill him,
- 20:56Speaker 2: because that's exactly how they killed sauron many ages ago.
- 21:01Speaker 2: If you remember at the beginning of the season when
- 21:03Speaker 2: we when when we get a flashback to Saarron before
- 21:10Speaker 2: his form that we know now. He was being you know,
- 21:14Speaker 2: fake crowned by Aidar and then instead stabbed, and then
- 21:19Speaker 2: all the Orcs were repeatedly stabbing Saarn standing over the
- 21:21Speaker 2: top of him at the beginning. And this is of
- 21:25Speaker 2: course the same way that Aidar goes out. So I
- 21:29Speaker 2: thought that was kind of a brutal and sad way
- 21:32Speaker 2: for him to go. But I'm sure it seems like
- 21:35Speaker 2: sorrown was like, you might have to kill him the
- 21:36Speaker 2: same way that he killed me. Basically, this is brutal,
- 21:40Speaker 2: like the pettiest thing, like such a petnyway, such a
- 21:44Speaker 2: petty way to go.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's like the ultimate clap back. As he was laying
- 21:48Speaker 1: there dying, He's like, oh, I'm gonna I'm gonna get
- 21:51Speaker 1: you back so bad. It may take hundreds of years,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but man, roles are gonna be reversed. It's gonna be sweet,
- 21:59Speaker 1: my friend. Don't get too comfy on my throne.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I just was so petty. I just wrote that so petty,
- 22:08Speaker 2: so funny.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It's a little bitch. No, that was that was great.
- 22:16Speaker 1: It was it was sad. Honestly, I felt bad for
- 22:20Speaker 1: h R when when he's watching the Orcs to really
- 22:23Speaker 1: kill him. And yeah, Galadriel and Saarron end up getting
- 22:29Speaker 1: into this pretty epic sword fight. Sron takes on different forms.
- 22:33Speaker 1: He takes on the form of Calibrin Bore, Uh, Galadriel
- 22:37Speaker 1: herself yet l Brand return briefly and eventually towards the
- 22:44Speaker 1: end of this fight. Uh, Sorrow is mostly successful. I
- 22:47Speaker 1: think it's fair to say, right, like, he gets nine
- 22:49Speaker 1: of the rings. He just doesn't get Galadriels.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Right, he gets nine of the rings, which he didn't
- 22:56Speaker 2: want Gladriels really, I mean he did, but like the
- 23:01Speaker 2: main thing for him was to get the rings for
- 23:03Speaker 2: the the men, because you know, they made the Elven
- 23:07Speaker 2: rings for the elves and they made the dwarver rings
- 23:09Speaker 2: for the dwarves, and so for him, he needs the
- 23:11Speaker 2: nine rings for a man to go to the men.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So he needed those the most and he stabs he
- 23:16Speaker 2: stabs stabs Gladial with Morgov's crown, which the fight choreography
- 23:22Speaker 2: with the crown was fantastic, like such cool fight choreography
- 23:27Speaker 2: and that scene, that whole scene was a really cool
- 23:31Speaker 2: And yeah, he successfully gets the rings and glad your
- 23:36Speaker 2: I thought that this was going to be the moment
- 23:37Speaker 2: where Gladril, like I thought she was going to like,
- 23:40Speaker 2: you know, go to the Shadow Realm or whatever, or
- 23:42Speaker 2: you know, but because I'm not super familiar with how
- 23:46Speaker 2: she gets from where she is now to where she
- 23:49Speaker 2: is in Lord of the Rings. So anyway, very cool.
- 23:55Speaker 1: You know what things were saying that because like I forgot,
- 23:57Speaker 1: there was a one moment in the fight with saar
- 23:59Speaker 1: On and Glady that was a neat like call out
- 24:02Speaker 1: to Fellowship of a Ring where he says like, I
- 24:06Speaker 1: would have made you a queen where you know, all
- 24:09Speaker 1: all the inhabitants have been a earve would bask in
- 24:11Speaker 1: your light. And that felt like that was like a
- 24:16Speaker 1: reference to you, Fellowship. When Frodo offers Gladriel the Ring
- 24:20Speaker 1: and she like turns into like something, She's still beautiful
- 24:25Speaker 1: but in a horrible way. In place of a dark lord,
- 24:30Speaker 1: you would have a queen not dark but beautiful and
- 24:34Speaker 1: I'm terrible. It felt very much like that's a callback
- 24:47Speaker 1: to that, or I guess a call forward in this case. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 1: that was that was neat. That was the first thing
- 24:52Speaker 1: I thought of as he was saying, and it was like,
- 24:53Speaker 1: oh yeah, that would be. That would be something we
- 24:58Speaker 1: see Galadriel fall off the cliff. I think it's uh
- 25:03Speaker 1: around deer who who with his eagle eye vision like
- 25:06Speaker 1: spots the jelly bean from like guards. That's what it
- 25:10Speaker 1: looks like. It looks like a jelly bean just fallings.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Like he's looking at her and he's like, that's Gladri.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I know elves have great like that's wild.
- 25:21Speaker 2: It's I love are too. He's one of the He's
- 25:24Speaker 2: so good and I'm glad that he didn't help me.
- 25:26Speaker 2: He's so cool, he's so fun the legs of Rings
- 25:30Speaker 2: of power basically yeah, dubbing him you know.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Who wins in a fight around here or Legolas.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Around here?
- 25:42Speaker 1: She is funny, I think I think right now, right now,
- 25:45Speaker 1: I think it's Lego loss. All right, this is why
- 25:50Speaker 1: since you didn't ask, okay, so so I think it's
- 25:56Speaker 1: the episode before right around here has like the takedown
- 25:59Speaker 1: of the the troll right the mountain troll takes him down.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I think he had help though with uh gil gilad.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Oh, I already know what you're thinking. You're talking about.
- 26:10Speaker 2: We're talking Return of the King. Yeah, yeah, never mind,
- 26:13Speaker 2: you're right, you're right. I stand corrected. You're absolutely correct.
- 26:18Speaker 1: You did it all by himself.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, God, I have to go watch your Turn
- 26:21Speaker 2: of the King now. That seems magnificent.
- 26:23Speaker 1: It is significent. It still only counts as one though, yep,
- 26:27Speaker 1: still only counts as one. I am waiting for an
- 26:30Speaker 1: amazing takedown like that with a Deer, because you're right,
- 26:34Speaker 1: he is the legalist of the show. And I just
- 26:35Speaker 1: I feel like at some point or another they're gonna
- 26:38Speaker 1: give him something like crazy to take down. They can't
- 26:41Speaker 1: do it too early in the show, right, It'll happen later.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And when when that does happen, the nerds of the
- 26:48Speaker 1: internet will lose their mind and will lose their mind.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And I don't care because I'm here for it. I
- 26:53Speaker 1: want to see your and Deer do more cool ship.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Galadriel is saved by l ron Uh I always forget
- 27:00Speaker 1: his dad's name, gilgilad Uh and Aro and Deer and
- 27:04Speaker 1: they escape. All the elves escape to a valley north
- 27:09Speaker 1: of the city, which that was very fun. It had
- 27:15Speaker 1: not occurred to me that riven Dell does not exist
- 27:18Speaker 1: yet in this in this time, and this is this
- 27:22Speaker 1: is the beginning of Rivendell, which has not been named
- 27:25Speaker 1: yet or created, but here we are, and we get
- 27:28Speaker 1: the question on whether or not they will operate as
- 27:32Speaker 1: the Sword or the Shield, and it ends with google
- 27:35Speaker 1: Lad proclaiming we're gonna fight. We won't take him down.
- 27:40Speaker 1: That's that's ultimately where where the show ends. But what
- 27:43Speaker 1: did you think of? You know, where where we leave
- 27:46Speaker 1: the elves here?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Like they got their butts whooped. Yeah, and now they're
- 27:50Speaker 2: like in Rivendelle or what will become Rivendell, and they've
- 27:55Speaker 2: chosen to fight. But like, and that's great, right the
- 28:00Speaker 2: sun came up. Everyone's like, Okay, we made it, We're alive.
- 28:02Speaker 2: We're gonna fight. But now the real work begins and
- 28:05Speaker 2: now you actually have to And so far no one's
- 28:09Speaker 2: had an answer for Sarron, and we also know that
- 28:11Speaker 2: they don't have one. They don't have an answer for
- 28:13Speaker 2: him for a very long time. So it's kind of
- 28:16Speaker 2: tough to I guess, be super confident and then what's
- 28:21Speaker 2: ahead for them because it takes a while, right, but
- 28:26Speaker 2: it's still interesting. It's still interesting to find out like
- 28:30Speaker 2: how we get from where they are now to what
- 28:33Speaker 2: happens in Fellowship of the Ring, right, Like there's so
- 28:35Speaker 2: much journey in the middle. So I'm excited for that.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Very much. So yeah, a lot of journey, a lot
- 28:43Speaker 1: of walking, so much walking. Let's transition away from Rivendell,
- 28:50Speaker 1: away from a region which I guess doesn't exist anymore,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and to the canyon where Gandolf is meeting with the
- 28:58Speaker 1: stores and the Dark Wizard and the Dark Wizard's bandits.
- 29:06Speaker 1: This scene is weird to me. It's so weird. So
- 29:13Speaker 1: the Stranger, sorry I said, Gandalf, oops, spoilers. The stranger
- 29:21Speaker 1: arrives in the canyon and he's greeted by the Dark Wizard,
- 29:27Speaker 1: and the Dark Wizard's like, oh, yeah, you're you're here
- 29:31Speaker 1: for your homies, right, Like Nori like yeah, I know
- 29:34Speaker 1: your homies, like hey, bring the homies out. And the
- 29:36Speaker 1: bandits got Nori with like a knife on her neck,
- 29:40Speaker 1: and the strangers like yo what and the dark Wizards
- 29:44Speaker 1: like yo what?
- 29:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so weird. I thought these nomads might help me
- 29:50Speaker 2: find you. I see, Nah, I was foolish, so weird,
- 29:54Speaker 2: like A.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Like, I can't take the that seriously if like he
- 30:01Speaker 1: doesn't have like he doesn't seem all that threatenings, Like
- 30:05Speaker 1: is he supposed to be bumbling because like he feels
- 30:08Speaker 1: a little bumbling right now, unless it was all like
- 30:11Speaker 1: gonna be a show of power, like and like like
- 30:15Speaker 1: he was thinking two steps ahead, like oh yeah, I'm
- 30:16Speaker 1: gonna do this. It's gonna be awesome. I'm gonna look
- 30:19Speaker 1: like a hero. I don't think that's what that is,
- 30:23Speaker 1: all right. That felt a little sloppy to me, Like
- 30:26Speaker 1: it felt it felt like rush storytelling.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Right, like, yeah, we need to the the store stuff,
- 30:34Speaker 2: Hobbit stuff was a little it was a little it
- 30:36Speaker 2: felt a little rushed and sloppy for sure, But that's
- 30:40Speaker 2: just because they were They really just wanted to get
- 30:43Speaker 2: us to the to Gandalf, I mean the Grandelf finding
- 30:46Speaker 2: his staff or the staff finding him rather and some
- 30:49Speaker 2: more bombadill on screen, which is such a treat. That's
- 30:53Speaker 2: really the key, right, this little area that we were
- 30:56Speaker 2: in here during this episode getting the bombadid uh old
- 31:01Speaker 2: Tom bomb.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Yeah he's a merry fellow.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Got the song so cool.
- 31:07Speaker 1: That was so great. I love that song. Oh that
- 31:10Speaker 1: was we're jumping ahead here, but like, yeah, the tom
- 31:12Speaker 1: Bomb medal stuff, it was just so fun. Towards the end,
- 31:15Speaker 1: well that.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Was awesome too, right because like in many ways we
- 31:17Speaker 2: knew that, like you know, get Off was the stranger
- 31:22Speaker 2: was never going to choose like we we don't you
- 31:25Speaker 2: want him to choose his friends, right, Like you know,
- 31:27Speaker 2: he's supposed to choose his friends, and of course he's
- 31:30Speaker 2: realizing it, and then of course the staff finds him,
- 31:35Speaker 2: which is such a cool little moment there, of course.
- 31:38Speaker 2: And so.
- 31:42Speaker 1: It's it's neat that I think that there are times
- 31:45Speaker 1: when to me, like personally that this show doesn't sound
- 31:50Speaker 1: very Tulkienian, right, but there are times where clearly they
- 31:55Speaker 1: do remember where they do. They have learned from the
- 31:58Speaker 1: original story and and they are trying their best to
- 32:01Speaker 1: like keep the heart of that. And I think one
- 32:04Speaker 1: of the most important themes of Lord of the Rings,
- 32:06Speaker 1: like in general, is that power corrupts absolutely. Power is
- 32:13Speaker 1: inherently evil, and the only thing that defeats power is
- 32:18Speaker 1: friendship is mercy, right, And it doesn't defeat it by
- 32:22Speaker 1: overpowering it, because you can't overpower power. But in the
- 32:26Speaker 1: long run, mercy and you know, the kindness that we
- 32:30Speaker 1: make along the way, like it works in invisible ways
- 32:33Speaker 1: that undoes power. And yeah, that was it was neat
- 32:38Speaker 1: to see that being reinforced in the stranger who eventually
- 32:44Speaker 1: decides that he will be called Gandalf. People will call
- 32:49Speaker 1: him Gandalf.
- 32:50Speaker 2: They're going to call him, Yeah, they start calling grand Elf,
- 32:52Speaker 2: and I'm like, okay, well that obviously. I mean, also
- 32:55Speaker 2: we see the staff, we kind of get a confirmation
- 32:57Speaker 2: that's Gandalff. But then I don't they called him the
- 33:01Speaker 2: grand Elf, and they use that as a way for
- 33:03Speaker 2: him to then pick his own name and call himself Gandalf.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I think so at first. And at first it was like, oh,
- 33:13Speaker 1: is this gonna be Like his name was Grandolf and
- 33:16Speaker 1: like just like misconstrued, and that's.
- 33:20Speaker 2: What I thought they were gonna do as well. I
- 33:21Speaker 2: was like, I kind of and then he just ended up.
- 33:27Speaker 1: It's it's more like the because they've never seen the
- 33:30Speaker 1: elf before, and then like they say that as a
- 33:32Speaker 1: form of appreciation. They think he's one because like elves
- 33:35Speaker 1: are like the super beings of the world, right, so
- 33:39Speaker 1: he must be one. So I like that, like they
- 33:43Speaker 1: misidentify him, right, And in that misidentification, it's almost like
- 33:48Speaker 1: either it jogged like his memory or it like it
- 33:53Speaker 1: enlightened him a bit to like, you know what his
- 33:56Speaker 1: name will eventually be, right, something about the Dark Wizard
- 34:02Speaker 1: I really want to put out there. Not sold on
- 34:05Speaker 1: this character at all. He just feels not threatening to
- 34:11Speaker 1: me yet. It's mostly because, like I guess, he just
- 34:14Speaker 1: didn't understand like his relationship with the Bandits for some
- 34:18Speaker 1: weird reason why she no, I was foolish. But there
- 34:23Speaker 1: was a lot of talk about who this character was,
- 34:26Speaker 1: similar to the Stranger, right, it's like, well, who is
- 34:29Speaker 1: the Stranger? Is it going to be? It's most likely
- 34:30Speaker 1: a Gandalf, but we don't know yet. We got confirmation
- 34:34Speaker 1: on that, and we sort of got a confirmation on
- 34:38Speaker 1: who the Dark Wizard probably is. So we're told Lord
- 34:43Speaker 1: of the Rings that there were five wizards who came
- 34:46Speaker 1: to Middle Earth a gray, a brown, and a white,
- 34:51Speaker 1: and two blues. And in the Hobbit and in Lord
- 34:55Speaker 1: of the Rings we meet three of those wizards. We
- 34:58Speaker 1: never meet the two Blue Wizards. There's always been a
- 35:01Speaker 1: lot of mystery about those two guys, and it looks
- 35:04Speaker 1: like this is one of the two Blue Wizards. From
- 35:07Speaker 1: what he's saying, we know that the two Blue Wizards
- 35:09Speaker 1: got to Middle Earth before anyone else did, and he
- 35:12Speaker 1: pretty much suggested that he got there before at least
- 35:15Speaker 1: Gandolf right, but uh yeah, not much else there. Overall,
- 35:21Speaker 1: I think this is one of the weaker storylines through
- 35:23Speaker 1: and through. Not the weakest story ling.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Though, that we can say for our friends of drum
- 35:30Speaker 2: Roll Police. Joe's favorite place is all of it alone.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's crazy to me how much money
- 35:40Speaker 1: is spent to make New Minir look awesome. It looks awesome,
- 35:44Speaker 1: it looks people.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Suck terrible, Oh the worst people. I'll matter you that
- 35:51Speaker 2: Narcel is a new Man? Are you mad?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm not mad. I actually think that makes sense.
- 36:00Speaker 1: And for some reason, I completely even forgot that that
- 36:02Speaker 1: sword existed, right and that that was coming right. Yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 1: so I thought that was cool that that it happened
- 36:10Speaker 1: right because it had to happen. But uh, do you
- 36:16Speaker 1: think that the writers just don't care about Numnor?
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes they don't. They don't give a ship. Their
- 36:21Speaker 2: whole thing is like, we need to get a lend
- 36:24Speaker 2: deal with Narcil out of New Minor. It doesn't matter
- 36:27Speaker 2: how it happens. He just needs to He just needs
- 36:30Speaker 2: to survive. And and and also we need to make
- 36:35Speaker 2: sure that that Kevin is the worst character. We need
- 36:39Speaker 2: to make sure people hate him more than Saurn, and
- 36:42Speaker 2: so we're gonna make that happen. I can't wait for
- 36:46Speaker 2: him to die. That came in Guy Jesus, guy sucks.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not great, easily the worst, the most hate
- 36:56Speaker 1: able character on the show, which is fantastic consider there
- 37:00Speaker 1: are some hateful people on the show.
- 37:03Speaker 2: I had someone, I had someone on threads asking me
- 37:06Speaker 2: if he was as bad as Jeoffrey, into which I replied,
- 37:10Speaker 2: you need to go rewatch Lord of the or you
- 37:12Speaker 2: need to go rewatch Camp of Thrones, because no way,
- 37:16Speaker 2: not yet. He's getting there if he doesn't die soon,
- 37:18Speaker 2: I guess just because he's stupid. Face is so punishable.
- 37:23Speaker 1: No, Jeffrey, there is a special Yeah, there's a special
- 37:27Speaker 1: hell for Jeoffrey, just him.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Anyway, Kevin like hasn't really like that's a thing, Like
- 37:33Speaker 1: he's a petty little bitch too.
- 37:35Speaker 2: But like he.
- 37:38Speaker 1: He hasn't done anything. Yeah really, which maybe yeah, maybe
- 37:44Speaker 1: that makes Jeoffrey better in the sense that at least
- 37:47Speaker 1: Jeoffrey like did stuff, where whereas yeah, Kevin just just sucks.
- 37:54Speaker 1: He's just disgusting. But uh important. Before we move to
- 38:00Speaker 1: Kevin and in pelligear back in newmanor Al alf farranz
- 38:06Speaker 1: Al Faranzan no Al fars On Alpha Son got there.
- 38:12Speaker 1: So Alfharzon Uh with a pallanteer discovers that hal Brand
- 38:19Speaker 1: is s on right and he says that mir Man,
- 38:25Speaker 1: I am having a hard time with some of these
- 38:27Speaker 1: new Minorian names. Uh. And that's not my fault. It's
- 38:29Speaker 1: because the show doesn't care about it, really doesn't. You
- 38:33Speaker 1: don't spend any time with these characters, and they're like, hey,
- 38:36Speaker 1: important plot thing, Okay, let's get the hell out of
- 38:39Speaker 1: new Minor now, like we spend zero time getting to
- 38:42Speaker 1: know them. It makes me mad anyway. The name I
- 38:44Speaker 1: was trying to say Mirror Murroel, Muriel, Muriel thank you,
- 38:51Speaker 1: like Kurg the cowardly dog Muriel thank you. He decides
- 38:55Speaker 1: that Muriel h is responsible and a purposely in saur On,
- 39:01Speaker 1: so therefore her her trial with the Sea Serpent does
- 39:06Speaker 1: not matter, and all of the faithful need to be arrested. Right.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So Al is closing in on his power in numanor
- 39:15Speaker 1: really really tightening the grip.
- 39:18Speaker 2: And this is where we get the scene where Ellen
- 39:23Speaker 2: Deal's daughter comes to him to tell him that he
- 39:26Speaker 2: needs to leave, and essentially saves him, which like the
- 39:34Speaker 2: writing sucks for that, like basically her fault. You know
- 39:39Speaker 2: that her dad's even in this trouble, you know in
- 39:41Speaker 2: some ways, and then she's gonna try to save him
- 39:43Speaker 2: in the eleventh power because she feels guilty because it's
- 39:45Speaker 2: her father and blah blah blah blah blah. Okay, whatever.
- 39:49Speaker 2: But I'm excited that he's now not at Newmanor because
- 39:52Speaker 2: his storyline probably gets really fun here in the next season.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Ellen deals right, and there there's obviously you have to
- 40:00Speaker 2: we have to imagine there's going to be some sort
- 40:01Speaker 2: of l N deal in Islador reunion reunion, although Islador
- 40:08Speaker 2: is now on the way back and he's going to
- 40:10Speaker 2: get there and his dad's not going to be there.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's where we ultimately closed with Newmanor. Uh.
- 40:16Speaker 1: It's this is as we said already, it's the weakest
- 40:21Speaker 1: part of the show. It just it needs so much
- 40:23Speaker 1: more time than what it gets. And it's it's crazy
- 40:28Speaker 1: to me that they spent all of this money making
- 40:31Speaker 1: Newmanor look amazing, and there they just don't spend the
- 40:36Speaker 1: writing there, And like, I get it's a big show.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I get it, but clearly you think that there's a
- 40:40Speaker 1: lot of stock in telling the story in numanor right,
- 40:46Speaker 1: but ultimately kind of a big nothing burger, right, Like,
- 40:53Speaker 1: I don't know, it's disappointing you brought up and kemen
- 40:59Speaker 1: over in uh the boat town that they're.
- 41:01Speaker 2: In Pelger gear something whatever it's called gear.
- 41:05Speaker 1: That sounds right. Thank you Nick for just saving me
- 41:07Speaker 1: on all.
- 41:08Speaker 2: I might not be correct either, but just tell us
- 41:10Speaker 2: in the comments it sounds righter than yours.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Yes, writer, indeed.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Speaking of words that aren't words.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Kevin. Kevin shows up right before, has his like
- 41:30Speaker 1: coming together with THEO, and THEO is like, hey, I
- 41:35Speaker 1: we're cool man and I respect you, and they bro
- 41:38Speaker 1: hug it out. Estrid is like, hey, can I like
- 41:42Speaker 1: come with you please? And He's like, is like yes, absolutely,
- 41:48Speaker 1: of course, And then that doesn't happen. But we did.
- 41:52Speaker 1: We did get a great shout out to your m
- 41:54Speaker 1: VP of the show, Barrick.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Oh, Barrick, absolute legend, the Savior of Middle Earth.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Probably do you think carried more weight on their back
- 42:12Speaker 1: Barrick or Sam Wise? Gamgee?
- 42:15Speaker 2: Uh, well, I think it's a little unfair to Sam
- 42:18Speaker 2: Wise that we just put him in comparison with Bark's Great,
- 42:23Speaker 2: Barrek's great, but Sam wise brought peace.
- 42:27Speaker 1: But I can't carry you. Sam is the true hero
- 42:34Speaker 1: higher story.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Sam is the true hero of the Lord of the Rings.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Don't you forget people?
- 42:38Speaker 1: No, no, no, you dare Yeah. So ultimately, Kevin just
- 42:45Speaker 1: being super petty, uh and loves flaunting the fact that
- 42:49Speaker 1: my dad is better than your dad. Just just the worst.
- 42:54Speaker 1: And now I really regret ending this review of the
- 42:57Speaker 1: episode umpelling Gear because uh wow, this is just more
- 43:03Speaker 1: me not caring.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, who get like stupid little numineer outposts
- 43:08Speaker 2: that means less than numinere numenor whatever. Yeah, just that
- 43:14Speaker 2: story's going to pick up a lot more next season, hopefully,
- 43:17Speaker 2: because there's a lot of shit going down now.
- 43:19Speaker 1: So right, well, we know Sourn's gonna he's targeting them.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Now, yeah, he's going to bring them the rings, right,
- 43:26Speaker 2: so that's going to be interesting. Man, speaking of rings,
- 43:32Speaker 2: didn't get the one ring, which we didn't think we
- 43:35Speaker 2: were going to get it this season anyway. Yeah, so
- 43:38Speaker 2: I'm assuming that's next season, right.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Considering how fast we went through all of the rings
- 43:44Speaker 1: this season. Yeah, I think so.
- 43:45Speaker 2: So, And I don't know if they've said how how
- 43:48Speaker 2: many seasons they're planning on doing? Do we know that?
- 43:51Speaker 1: I have not seen that information. I'm not sure if
- 43:55Speaker 1: it's been released.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I could see four, but I feel like four is
- 43:58Speaker 2: probably the macks I would imagine.
- 44:01Speaker 1: So power let's see, it's a five season plan really
- 44:07Speaker 1: mm hmmm, it's.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Gonna turn into a Hobbit situation. Ah gosh, I hope
- 44:12Speaker 2: not five seas a little long for how far we
- 44:16Speaker 2: just got here with season two. We'll see, though, I
- 44:19Speaker 2: mean there's still a lot.
- 44:20Speaker 1: That has to happen, right, Like, I mean, I feel
- 44:22Speaker 1: like we're still so far from uh saar on becoming
- 44:27Speaker 1: like what we see in the beginning of Fellowship.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and we gotta fortunately, we gotta watch well maybe
- 44:33Speaker 1: fortunately we have to watch new minor get obliterated I'm
- 44:36Speaker 1: looking for.
- 44:37Speaker 2: I'm actually kind of excited for that. Yeah, I just
- 44:39Speaker 2: I want to watch all of those people, just like
- 44:41Speaker 2: like Kevin and al Fizar or whatever his name is,
- 44:44Speaker 2: Like they just just die, just exit stage left, police
- 44:48Speaker 2: switch right.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I honestly just can't wait for the water to
- 44:52Speaker 1: just take that plot line away. Yep, it's gonna be awesome.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I agreed. So, yeah, that's that's basically the finale. I
- 45:03Speaker 1: think I agree with you, Nick, I think ultimately this
- 45:05Speaker 1: was one of its stronger episodes. But I think where
- 45:11Speaker 1: where like I fall like negatively on this is kind
- 45:14Speaker 1: of what we've already pointed out. It's just I think
- 45:17Speaker 1: this show's greatest strength is somehow also its greatest weakness.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Middle Earth is a really interesting world, and there's a
- 45:26Speaker 1: lot going on in it, right, And unfortunately I think
- 45:30Speaker 1: of the a lotanus that's that's happening, it really bogs
- 45:34Speaker 1: down the story in some places. And New Minor is
- 45:37Speaker 1: one of those casualties. Right. I used to care about Nori,
- 45:42Speaker 1: Like in the first season. I actually kind of liked
- 45:44Speaker 1: Norri's story, Norri's story, and and this season, I don't know,
- 45:49Speaker 1: I was just like, get back to Sarrow. This didn't care?
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, there was. I mean, you just can't
- 45:57Speaker 2: fit at all. Right, And obviously this season was about
- 46:02Speaker 2: a reggaeon and Sauron and Keller Brinbor and that set
- 46:07Speaker 2: up and the Rings of course being being crafted. So
- 46:11Speaker 2: that's a precedent, and so that was some of my
- 46:14Speaker 2: favorite parts of season two, right, is the is the
- 46:18Speaker 2: Keller Brinbar storyline and the acting there was fantastic, and
- 46:22Speaker 2: that along with the Dwarfs and Kazakh Doom was like,
- 46:25Speaker 2: those are probably my highlights for me, but definitely Newmanor
- 46:30Speaker 2: and some of like Norri's storyline, just following a little
- 46:33Speaker 2: short on like the nitty grittiness of it, I guess
- 46:39Speaker 2: a little bit lackadaisical maybe, but it was cool that
- 46:47Speaker 2: we got Bombadil. And I mean, I don't know if
- 46:52Speaker 2: we're gonna we're gonna see Bombadil again. Do we see
- 46:54Speaker 2: Bombadil again? Do we think maybe? I don't know.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I'm assuming he's gonna at least stick around for another
- 47:02Speaker 1: another season or two, considering it's a five season plan.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I think so. I think we're definitely gonna get Tom
- 47:10Speaker 1: Bombadil again for two reasons, the first being it feels
- 47:13Speaker 1: like he Gandalf still has more to learn from Bombadil.
- 47:19Speaker 1: And second, I don't know if you remember this, when
- 47:22Speaker 1: we first meet Bombadil, when Gandalf is still the Stranger
- 47:26Speaker 1: and he and he wakes up in Bombadil's hut, he
- 47:31Speaker 1: hears another voice and the stranger asks who are you
- 47:36Speaker 1: talking to? And Bombadil says, what do you mean, I
- 47:39Speaker 1: wasn't talking to anyone, and that hasn't been revealed yet,
- 47:46Speaker 1: So I think there's still more to come with Bombadil,
- 47:50Speaker 1: very very excited about that, especially the character that they
- 47:53Speaker 1: are referring to there. There was actually there's a little
- 47:57Speaker 1: easter egg of that character when they're singing the song.
- 48:00Speaker 1: The last line of the song felt like that was
- 48:02Speaker 1: supposed to be a shout out towards the character. But yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 1: I think I think we will get more bomba deal
- 48:08Speaker 1: so hopefully more singing. Love it nice. Nick, you talked
- 48:11Speaker 1: about your your highlights. What would you say is was
- 48:14Speaker 1: your ultimate low light of the season.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Probably just the new Manor storyline. It's just not doing
- 48:22Speaker 2: it like all these other storylines are in the stores
- 48:26Speaker 2: and like Nori and Poppy like that was okay, what
- 48:30Speaker 2: kind of made up for it? There was like anytime
- 48:31Speaker 2: we went there, you knew that the next thing we're
- 48:33Speaker 2: gonna get was the Stranger and organd offer Bamba Dill, right,
- 48:36Speaker 2: So that kind of was like made up for dealing
- 48:40Speaker 2: with some of the not boring this but just kind
- 48:44Speaker 2: of the meh part of that, I guess, right, But
- 48:47Speaker 2: Numanor was just kind of and I don't even know
- 48:51Speaker 2: if I think it was just annoying, right, Like I
- 48:52Speaker 2: hate that Al far as On character, that the Kevin
- 48:55Speaker 2: character I hate too. It's just like and it's not
- 48:57Speaker 2: like it's just their characters are so one sided in
- 49:05Speaker 2: how they're operating that it's just like it's just annoying
- 49:08Speaker 2: that that's how they chose to go about it, you know.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Right, because they don't feel like real cares.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Yeah, they just don't feel like they have real conflict
- 49:16Speaker 2: in any of the decisions they're making, which is just like, Okay,
- 49:20Speaker 2: it's kind of dumb.
- 49:21Speaker 1: It doesn't help that they're so far removed from like
- 49:24Speaker 1: the actual plot right.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Of the show, right, so they're like the only ones
- 49:29Speaker 2: not affected by everything else going on yet right right,
- 49:32Speaker 2: they're still in their own little world dealing with their
- 49:34Speaker 2: own little minute political bs. You know that is about
- 49:38Speaker 2: to be like, oh, this is what were we complaining about.
- 49:41Speaker 2: We've got bigger problems now, very very quickly. So anyway,
- 49:46Speaker 2: what about you?
- 49:48Speaker 1: I mean to piggyback off of what you were saying
- 49:51Speaker 1: earlier about Jeffrey. Jeoffrey is a horrible monster of a character,
- 49:56Speaker 1: but he was compelling to have on screen because he
- 50:00Speaker 1: was a character, right, He wasn't like a trope that
- 50:04Speaker 1: there was something interesting about the way Jeoffrey worked and
- 50:07Speaker 1: that we only got to understand that because we spent
- 50:10Speaker 1: time with Jeoffrey. Right, And yeah, these the new pretty
- 50:15Speaker 1: much all the Numinorian characters, Like they're all tropes. It's
- 50:17Speaker 1: like the hero, the hero's dad. Uh, the alf frozen
- 50:23Speaker 1: is uh the bad guy and he's just bad. Yeah,
- 50:28Speaker 1: what the hell happened to the eagle? Like did the
- 50:30Speaker 1: eagle just show up and then dip? Like dude, Like
- 50:33Speaker 1: what happened the eagle showed up? Everyone's like, ah, divine
- 50:36Speaker 1: providence and the eagles like, oh, you guys totally misinterpreted that.
- 50:39Speaker 1: But by I just needed the poop somewhere, Like where'd
- 50:44Speaker 1: it go? Doesn't matter? It doesn't matter where the eagle
- 50:50Speaker 1: went because nothing matters in Numnor. I mean it does,
- 50:54Speaker 1: but it doesn't, right, Like it's just frustrating. It feels
- 50:59Speaker 1: like it could be cool, right, like this is is
- 51:01Speaker 1: so there's home and we know the role he's gonna
- 51:04Speaker 1: play and how important it is. I want, I mean,
- 51:07Speaker 1: so there's probably the only character Adam numan Or that
- 51:10Speaker 1: I'm interested in, and it's because he got the hell
- 51:12Speaker 1: out right, man, I get annoyed, as Nick pointed out,
- 51:18Speaker 1: whether they go for like some really cheesy lines every
- 51:21Speaker 1: once in a while. He is no man like you
- 51:28Speaker 1: could be the Lord of the Rings like Jeez landed
- 51:33Speaker 1: on thick guys. I think there are decisions like that
- 51:38Speaker 1: that really hold the show back from being really great.
- 51:42Speaker 1: There there are a couple of just like storytelling decisions
- 51:45Speaker 1: that I wish that they had done differently. I know
- 51:47Speaker 1: that the panoramic reveal of a red gown when it's
- 51:54Speaker 1: according to Calibrimbore, everything's peaceful right in his perspective, but
- 51:59Speaker 1: it's because of this this trance that he's under, and
- 52:03Speaker 1: you know, get that great panoramic of sorrow on right
- 52:07Speaker 1: where he's walking outside, and it goes from being the
- 52:11Speaker 1: peaceful trance to chaos, right, and that is cool. It
- 52:14Speaker 1: looked really cool. I wish that that had happened differently, though,
- 52:19Speaker 1: because the very next episode there there's a neat, you know,
- 52:23Speaker 1: detail that calibrin Boor catches and it's the candles aren't
- 52:30Speaker 1: aren't changing right like he marks them and they're not changing.
- 52:33Speaker 1: And then he notices the mouse, right, and like, how
- 52:35Speaker 1: something something's wrong? Right. I wish we I wish we
- 52:41Speaker 1: also as the the audience, thought that everything in a
- 52:45Speaker 1: region was fine, and then for all of us, together
- 52:50Speaker 1: with calibrin Bore, discover oh my god, right, like and like,
- 52:57Speaker 1: I think that would have been such a more effective
- 52:59Speaker 1: way of telling that story and for us to a
- 53:02Speaker 1: feel even worse for Calibrimbore, right because we're discovering that
- 53:06Speaker 1: information with him, and for us as an audience to
- 53:09Speaker 1: be even more scared of saur On right because he
- 53:12Speaker 1: pulled one on us too. And right.
- 53:16Speaker 2: That's a cool idea that seems like it would have
- 53:18Speaker 2: been extremely difficult to pull off, though too right in
- 53:21Speaker 2: some ways maybe I'm not sure.
- 53:23Speaker 1: I think if you just like, we're not reverse the scenes,
- 53:26Speaker 1: but like if you just had that scene where Saarron
- 53:29Speaker 1: walks around, uh, if you just had that later right, like,
- 53:33Speaker 1: or have calibrimboor do that right where he's like waking
- 53:36Speaker 1: from the trans I don't know. It was a really
- 53:41Speaker 1: effective shot. I love it. I just wish that the
- 53:45Speaker 1: story had been tweaked just a little bit, because it
- 53:48Speaker 1: feels like there's a lot of plot movement on the show,
- 53:51Speaker 1: but not a ton of character work, and that would
- 53:55Speaker 1: have been a really awesome character moment.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Nice, it's gonna do.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Ultimately. I think it's a good show. There's a lot
- 54:04Speaker 1: of passion in this show. That's awesome. It's a beautiful show.
- 54:11Speaker 1: But yeah, some of the writing just kind of falls
- 54:12Speaker 1: flat for me. Not all of it, God, damn it,
- 54:14Speaker 1: not all of it. The Dwarfs rule, love the Dwarves,
- 54:19Speaker 1: and I'm excited to see what's going on with with
- 54:21Speaker 1: Galadriel in company.
- 54:23Speaker 2: But awesome.
- 54:24Speaker 1: I guess we'll get there next season.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Ye, looking forward to it.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so I guess that'll do it for our review here.
- 54:32Speaker 1: But before we go, Nick, I actually don't know if
- 54:34Speaker 1: we talked about this yet. What are we covering next time?
- 54:39Speaker 2: Rather put it on your list added to your list
- 54:42Speaker 2: episode or we might it might be time for another
- 54:45Speaker 2: time travel draft.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a minute.
- 54:48Speaker 2: It's been a minute. I don't know. We have to
- 54:50Speaker 2: pick a category though for that.
- 54:52Speaker 1: So that's true, that's true. We finished time travel comedy.
- 54:56Speaker 1: It'd be kind of cool to do secret time travel.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Movie next Yeah, that would maybe maybe we'll do that. So, yeah,
- 55:05Speaker 2: we'll have to we'll discuss it. Well, maybe we'll do
- 55:09Speaker 2: a tim travel next next week. Maybe we'll see, we'll
- 55:12Speaker 2: see how this site shapes up, but.
- 55:13Speaker 1: We'll see how much time we actually have for that.
- 55:17Speaker 2: But follow us on threads where you can find out

- 55:32Speaker 2: be with you, please
