- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas, and this is Luna. Luna: Hi everyone. It is so good to be here again with you all. Lucas: Today we are focusing on two very physical verbs. They are related, but different. Luna: Right. One is about going up, and one is about moving along. Lucas: Exactly. Let us start with the first verb. It is 'å løfte'. Luna: 'Å løfte'. That means to lift? Lucas: Yes. To lift something up. Usually against gravity. Listen closely. Lucas: Å løfte.... Å løfte. Luna: Okay. Å løfte. Like picking a box off the floor? Lucas: Precisely. Now let us make it a full sentence. 'Jeg løfter'. Lucas: Jeg løfter.... Jeg løfter. Luna: I lift. Okay. Jeg løfter. Lucas: Good. Try it yourself. Say 'Jeg løfter'. Luna: Jeg løfter. There. I am lifting right now. Lucas: Perfect. You nailed it. Now, imagine the object is heavy. Lucas: We say 'løfte tungt'. Lucas: Løfte tungt.... Løfte tungt. Luna: Løfte tungt. To lift heavily. Got it. Lucas: Let us try that phrase together. 'Løfte tungt'. Luna: Løfte tungt. Okay. That feels strong. Lucas: It does. But lifting is just the start. What happens after you lift it? Luna: You have to hold it while you walk? Or move it somewhere else? Lucas: Yes. That is the second verb. 'Å bære'. Luna: 'Å bære'. That sounds like 'bear' or 'bare'? Lucas: It is similar. It means to carry. Not just hold, but transport. Lucas: Å bære.... Å bære. Luna: Å bære. Okay. Carrying. Lucas: Now the conjugation. 'Jeg bærer'. Lucas: Jeg bærer.... Jeg bærer. Luna: Jeg bærer. I carry. Simple enough. Lucas: Try it. 'Jeg bærer'. Luna: Jeg bærer. Yes. I am carrying. Lucas: Great. Now let us add an object. A common item. Lucas: A bag. 'Veska'. Lucas: So we say 'bære veska'. Lucas: Bære veska.... Bære veska. Luna: Bære veska. To carry the bag. Nice and easy. Lucas: Let us repeat that whole chunk. 'Bære veska'. Luna: Bære veska. I like how smooth that sounds. Lucas: It flows well. So remember the difference. 'Løfte' is up. 'Bære' is along. Luna: Right. Lift it up, then carry it away. Lucas: Exactly. Before we continue with more examples, I want to mention something. Luna: Oh? What is it? It really helps. Lucas: Back to our verbs. Let us put them in a scene. Luna: Okay. I am at home. I see a heavy box. Lucas: First, what do you do? Luna: I need to lift it. So I say 'Jeg løfter'. Lucas: Correct. And is it difficult? Luna: Yes. It is heavy. So I am 'løfte tungt'. Lucas: Good. Now the box is in my hands. I need to take it to the kitchen. Luna: Then I start walking. So I am 'bære' it. Lucas: Specifically, if it was a bag, you would 'bære veska'. Luna: Right. 'Jeg bærer veska' to the kitchen. Lucas: Perfect sequence. Lift, then carry. Repeat that logic. Luna: Lift up. Carry along. Jeg løfter. Jeg bærer. Lucas: Let us review the key phrases one last time. Lucas: 'Å løfte'. Luna: Å løfte. Lucas: 'Jeg løfter'. Luna: Jeg løfter. Lucas: 'Løfte tungt'. Luna: Løfte tungt. Lucas: 'Å bære'. Luna: Å bære. Lucas: 'Jeg bærer'. Luna: Jeg bærer. Lucas: 'Bære veska'. Luna: Bære veska. Lucas: Excellent work today. You are getting the hang of physical actions. Luna: I feel stronger already. Thanks, Lucas. Lucas: Practice these till we chat again. See you next time.
