Drivers in downtown Birmingham are sounding the alarm over newly installed raised traffic islands on 13th Street South near Regions Field—reportedly invisible at night, causing accidents and costly damage. One motorist hit an island while searching for parking, blowing two tires and racking up hundreds in repairs; others had similar mishaps that same night.
