- 2:01Speaker 2: All right, guys, welcome back e y l LA edition.
- 2:04Speaker 2: This is something that I'm very excited about. So the
- 2:07Speaker 2: young star court Day, he hit us up in the
- 2:10Speaker 2: DM and he was like, Yo, I think we should
- 2:13Speaker 2: do some content. Man be powerful, and he when he
- 2:16Speaker 2: reached out, I read the DM. So I'm like, oh,
- 2:18Speaker 2: I'm like, let's do it because I automatically knew what
- 2:20Speaker 2: that was like. You know, I've been following his career
- 2:23Speaker 2: and one of the things, Leason, I don't even know
- 2:25Speaker 2: if you've noticed, but we started in the schools with
- 2:28Speaker 2: young people. So that's actually how the whole thing was started,
- 2:30Speaker 2: with teaching financial literacy to young people. And I feel
- 2:33Speaker 2: like the movement of financial literacy is getting everybody right now,
- 2:37Speaker 2: but the young people are the people that really need
- 2:40Speaker 2: to hear the message the most for sure.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Not only do they.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Influence culture, influence everything, but they're in a position where
- 2:48Speaker 2: a lot of times, unfortunately you make mistakes. You forty
- 2:50Speaker 2: or fifty. I'm not going to say it's too late,
- 2:52Speaker 2: but it becomes tremendously harder.
- 2:54Speaker 5: For sure, time is your best ass, yea.
- 2:57Speaker 2: But when you're younger, you can actually, you know, get
- 3:00Speaker 2: off to a good start. So young man, superstar, Grammy nominated,
- 3:04Speaker 2: but even bigger than his musical career, just a very
- 3:07Speaker 2: sharp intelligence. Just speaking to him for a few minutes,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I can tell he's a very sharp, intelligent young man.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Appreciate that.
- 3:11Speaker 4: So first and Foremal, thank you for joining us.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I appreciate you all for having me. Yeah, you know,
- 3:15Speaker 3: I haven't done no interviews in a minute, and uh,
- 3:18Speaker 3: you know, I watch all podcasts, you know, and I
- 3:19Speaker 3: was like, oh, we got to do some dope shit
- 3:21Speaker 3: because I feel like it definitely can be something dope.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:25Speaker 5: The first time I heard you, I was it was
- 3:28Speaker 5: you know, I don't we were on that. You know,
- 3:30Speaker 5: we come from a certain generation and we listened to
- 3:32Speaker 5: naves grow up on Jay. Yeah, and the newer artists
- 3:34Speaker 5: are cool, and they were like, you got to hear
- 3:36Speaker 5: this kid, and I think Jake.
- 3:38Speaker 6: Cole had put out nineteen eighty five. Oh yeah yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 6: and they were like this young kid responded like, who
- 3:43Speaker 6: is this?
- 3:44Speaker 3: I heard it.
- 3:44Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, this kid's talented.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was that was dope. That was dope
- 3:49Speaker 2: because it was it was it was. It wasn't a disrecord,
- 3:52Speaker 2: But it's just your perspective, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I thought that that was dope because it was. I
- 3:56Speaker 4: feel like a lot of times.
- 3:58Speaker 3: It was an unheard perspective, right, you know you spoke
- 4:01Speaker 3: for the generation. Yeah exactly.
- 4:02Speaker 6: He was that middle age generation, and this is your perspective.
- 4:05Speaker 4: I'm like, it's crazy to call somebody thirty five middle age.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Yah about that's a little Yeah, he had the middle ages.
- 4:12Speaker 4: No, No, it was cool this oneing he was.
- 4:15Speaker 5: That was nineteen eighty five, eighty five, Yeah, but he
- 4:16Speaker 5: had that because he's the in between child, middle child, right,
- 4:19Speaker 5: So he's in between generations of the nas Jay Big
- 4:22Speaker 5: and now hit that Drake and Kendrick and him and
- 4:25Speaker 5: now Coda is that next generation and those guys.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So so yeah, so I'm excited to jump into this.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So first and foremost, I want to jump right into this.
- 4:33Speaker 2: As far as in the music business, you are what
- 4:38Speaker 2: We've like, We've talked to Jim Jones, We've talked to
- 4:40Speaker 2: Fat Joe Styles, and we've asked them like, yo, how
- 4:43Speaker 2: has it changed because they've been in the game for
- 4:45Speaker 2: twenty years, thirty years, Like, how has it changed? How
- 4:48Speaker 2: has streaming? But this streaming is all you know? Yeah,
- 4:50Speaker 2: so you know what I'm saying.
- 4:51Speaker 4: So you as a young man early twenties coming in it.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Again, Yo, it's crazy. You mentioned Jim Jones too, my
- 4:57Speaker 3: bad to end the Rocks. Jim Jones was with me
- 5:00Speaker 3: and Anderson Pat that night in the studio we made
- 5:04Speaker 3: R and P H and he was just kind of
- 5:06Speaker 3: just because I was brand new at the time we
- 5:08Speaker 3: made this, like twenty eighteen, he was like just giving
- 5:10Speaker 3: me game. You know what I'm saying, just based upon everything,
- 5:12Speaker 3: So shout out Jim John Jimmy.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So all right, you getting into the music business, how
- 5:19Speaker 2: did you what was your thought process as far as
- 5:22Speaker 2: becoming a rapper. Did you look at it like I
- 5:24Speaker 2: gotta get signed to a label or did you look
- 5:26Speaker 2: at it like I'm gonna get hot on YouTube, do
- 5:29Speaker 2: my own thing. And then like what was your thought
- 5:31Speaker 2: process as far as getting in as a teenager into rap?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah, as a teenager, you know cause I made like
- 5:37Speaker 3: three mixtapes in my teenage years. My main thing was
- 5:41Speaker 3: always like just the craft. I just wanted to get
- 5:43Speaker 3: my skill level at a high enough level to where
- 5:48Speaker 3: I knew I could compete with like the best, you
- 5:50Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, to where I can put my
- 5:52Speaker 3: music in my craft and my art out there and
- 5:54Speaker 3: it's like better than everyone else's and you know, and
- 5:58Speaker 3: it stands out. So that was always my main thing
- 6:00Speaker 3: to make sure that the product, which is the music,
- 6:03Speaker 3: was always like at its highest left one of the best.
- 6:06Speaker 3: And I didn't really I just wanted to get in.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I didn't care if I was on the label, not
- 6:11Speaker 3: in a label, you know what I'm saying. I just
- 6:12Speaker 3: wanted to get in a game. I'm just like, put
- 6:13Speaker 3: me in, coach, you know what I'm saying. So that
- 6:15Speaker 3: was my whole thing, and I'm gonna just take what
- 6:17Speaker 3: I gotta do.
- 6:18Speaker 5: At an early age, right, you have influences? Are you
- 6:20Speaker 5: looking like I want to be a hip hop artist
- 6:23Speaker 5: because you got in like fifteen, which is like most
- 6:25Speaker 5: people say, I've been wrapping my whole life. Yeah, you
- 6:27Speaker 5: like fifteen, I'm a dude or I'm taking it seriously.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Was that your vision all along from a young age?
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. I was definitely since I was like,
- 6:34Speaker 3: I was rapping since I was like little, like five
- 6:37Speaker 3: six years old. But when I was fifteen, that's when
- 6:39Speaker 3: I put out like my first mixtape. And I feel
- 6:40Speaker 3: like when we put out a whole mixtape or a
- 6:43Speaker 3: whole body of work, that's when like, uh, you are
- 6:46Speaker 3: actually an aspiring artist, you know what I'm saying. That's
- 6:49Speaker 3: the first step. Because some niggas like drop a song
- 6:51Speaker 3: to and it don't blow up, They're like, man, fuck
- 6:53Speaker 3: this rap shit, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 6:57Speaker 3: was just like all the way. So then like two
- 6:58Speaker 3: years later, I dropped the other one. I was like sixteen,
- 7:01Speaker 3: and then boom boom boom dropped another one. I was eighteen,
- 7:04Speaker 3: So I just wanted to Yeah, So ultimately that was
- 7:08Speaker 3: my goal to definitely get in the game. It's like
- 7:09Speaker 3: an all around artists, not to be marginalized as just
- 7:13Speaker 3: a hip hop artist, because I do want to expand
- 7:16Speaker 3: into different horizon and fast sets of music. But yeah,
- 7:21Speaker 3: definitely hip hop. I mean it's a part of my DNA.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It's embedded within me, you know what I'm saying. That's
- 7:25Speaker 3: the root of everything for me, so for sure.
- 7:27Speaker 2: All the way, So I heard your dad used to
- 7:30Speaker 2: play nas and that type of era to live quality.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Stuff like that.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah for sure.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So that was some of your influences or did you
- 7:38Speaker 2: have like the little wing like who was your musical
- 7:41Speaker 2: influences that helped shape who you are now?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Man? A lot of naves, a lot of knaves, whole catalog,
- 7:48Speaker 3: the whole thing. What's your favorite album it was written? Ye?
- 7:54Speaker 3: Nah yo? Yeah nah yo. I feel like it's so
- 7:57Speaker 3: slept on because Ellmatic is Illmatic, but yo, it was written.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I low he like it better than Illmatic Personally. I
- 8:04Speaker 3: feel like his storytelling ability went up. I feel like
- 8:08Speaker 3: he got better on it was written peak for sure,
- 8:11Speaker 3: for sure, not his peak, but he was better on it.
- 8:14Speaker 3: To me, I think it was written is definitely a
- 8:18Speaker 3: better album.
- 8:19Speaker 6: Grew up with us Amic FORU is my favorite of
- 8:24Speaker 6: all time. But we have that argument all the time,
- 8:26Speaker 6: you know.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I mean it's illmatic's crazy for sure. For sure, Fake
- 8:32Speaker 3: Doug no love you can you know what I'm saying,
- 8:36Speaker 3: I like, I love another selept on joint. Is the
- 8:40Speaker 3: joint with nis and is it a fast life? Oh
- 8:47Speaker 3: that's my joint? He said, yes, Nas King Solomon seven.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Hundred wives wise God, Yeah, this is a student that
- 8:59Speaker 2: makes sense? Now, Yeah, okay, student of the game. You're
- 9:02Speaker 2: student of the game.
- 9:03Speaker 3: You gotta be within whatever career path, you know what
- 9:05Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like, if you want to be an architect,
- 9:07Speaker 3: you're gonna look up who the greatest architects are. If
- 9:09Speaker 3: you want to be a lawyer, you're gonna do your
- 9:13Speaker 3: research on Johnny Cockran you know what I'm saying on
- 9:16Speaker 3: those folks. If you want to be a doctor, you're
- 9:18Speaker 3: gonna look up Charles Drew and things of that nature.
- 9:21Speaker 3: So I feel like it's only right within the artistry craft.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Like I said, I'm the biggest Michael Jackson fan. You fine,
- 9:27Speaker 3: Chuck Berry, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:29Speaker 6: All of that, So I would challenge most twenty three
- 9:31Speaker 6: roe olds that have no idea who you rap is.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Unfortunately, Unfortunately that's a fact. So let's get into this.
- 9:38Speaker 2: So from the business standpoint, there's a lot of young artists.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I'm just thinking on my nephew. He's in his early
- 9:44Speaker 2: twenties and he's a rapper, and they look at you,
- 9:47Speaker 2: they look at other people like you that have been successful,
- 9:50Speaker 2: but they don't.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Know how to get into rap.
- 9:52Speaker 2: What was your process to actually like walk through, get
- 9:54Speaker 2: a manager who walks you into the label? Like, how
- 9:58Speaker 2: did that work for you when you just you want
- 10:00Speaker 2: to take serious?
- 10:02Speaker 3: Well, honestly, it takes a lot of years of messing up,
- 10:06Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Like, Luckily for me, I
- 10:08Speaker 3: was taking raps seriously since I was fifteen years old,
- 10:10Speaker 3: not knowing anything. So I was just like I used
- 10:15Speaker 3: to do the DM flood. They used to DM all
- 10:17Speaker 3: of my followers and everybody and matter of fact, not
- 10:19Speaker 3: just DM me, I'm gonna tag you, I'm aa tweet
- 10:21Speaker 3: and tag your ad like watch my music video? Do this?
- 10:24Speaker 3: Do that? Yeah? Exactly, as the send everybody a text
- 10:31Speaker 3: like yo post my you know, it's it's step by steps.
- 10:35Speaker 3: But then I realized, like, nah, it got to be organic.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You gotta build an organic audience that really love your music.
- 10:40Speaker 3: If they fuck with your shit, they gonna tell their
- 10:42Speaker 3: friends about it. Off I can curse, right, Yeah, I
- 10:44Speaker 3: bet off the strength. And so that was a learning
- 10:47Speaker 3: step for me to not just be the guy in
- 10:49Speaker 3: everybody's dms tweeting everybody like nah, just like drop music,
- 10:53Speaker 3: promote it, and uh, you're gonna build your core an
- 10:56Speaker 3: organic audience. That's the main thing. Just finding your niche.
- 10:59Speaker 3: And it's really like that in whatever product. You know
- 11:03Speaker 3: what I'm saying with you, guys, you have a niche
- 11:05Speaker 3: audience and you continue to build upon that. It's the
- 11:07Speaker 3: same with music. So build your core fan base, your
- 11:09Speaker 3: core audience, and just continue to build upon that. And
- 11:14Speaker 3: you can do that by being yourself. That's what we're
- 11:16Speaker 3: realizing now. You don't gotta a faking create something that
- 11:20Speaker 3: that's not you, you know what I'm saying, to make
- 11:23Speaker 3: some sort of facade or anything like nah. You can
- 11:25Speaker 3: like legit, be yourself, tell your story, make some dope
- 11:28Speaker 3: ass music, drop dope product, and it can continue to
- 11:32Speaker 3: grow and build upon that. And that's kind of like
- 11:34Speaker 3: a blueprint blueprint that's been you know, engaged with like
- 11:40Speaker 3: all the forefathers and you know, my predecessors, and you know,
- 11:44Speaker 3: obviously it's a new age with streaming and all of
- 11:47Speaker 3: these different things, but it's still come down to making
- 11:50Speaker 3: dope music.
- 11:51Speaker 5: So being so young, right fifteen, because this is a problem.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Who's financing this at the time? Are you working or
- 11:56Speaker 5: you got like your parents are financing because you're going
- 11:58Speaker 5: need studio time? Yeah, yeah, packaging for the mixtapes that
- 12:01Speaker 5: you're putting out. Who's helping you with this at this time?
- 12:04Speaker 3: So I was I was selling weed, you know what
- 12:08Speaker 3: I'm saying doing that, and my you know what, I
- 12:11Speaker 3: was young entrepreneur and I bought a home. I bought
- 12:16Speaker 3: a home and actually one of my I don't know
- 12:19Speaker 3: if I should say this on camera, but one of
- 12:21Speaker 3: my cousins stumbled upon some some valuable items and like
- 12:30Speaker 3: blessed me, like for real, shout out, you know exactly
- 12:32Speaker 3: who you are. I ain't gonna say that, but they
- 12:35Speaker 3: stumbled upon some like very valuable things, and I was able,
- 12:39Speaker 3: exactly and I was able to turn liquid date these
- 12:44Speaker 3: items and and use that to build the asset of
- 12:50Speaker 3: the studio. So that helped a lot too. So but yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 3: but I had. I had one like just within the crib,
- 12:58Speaker 3: and yeah, just I did. I recorded all my first
- 13:02Speaker 3: three mixtapes. I recorded like even when I was in college,
- 13:05Speaker 3: sleeping on my homies couch I had. I had nothing
- 13:07Speaker 3: but a suitcase in my studio stuff, you know what
- 13:12Speaker 3: I'm saying. So just recording myself. I was using pro
- 13:14Speaker 3: tools a s E. Which is like the demo version,
- 13:16Speaker 3: but I found a way to like my pre mix.
- 13:20Speaker 3: It's like a pre mix is essentially like a I
- 13:24Speaker 3: forgot the name of it, but essentially I had my
- 13:27Speaker 3: own mix. I was mixing my own shit, like recording myself.
- 13:30Speaker 3: So being self sufficient, you know what I'm saying. I
- 13:32Speaker 3: was my own at one point in time, my own manager,
- 13:35Speaker 3: my own marketer, h engineer, producer.
- 13:40Speaker 2: That's like the name you ever hear when Nipsey said that, Nipsey,
- 13:44Speaker 2: he was like, he taught himself how to do everything,
- 13:47Speaker 2: and he's just like, you know, so if the engineer
- 13:49Speaker 2: tells him that's not possible, He's like, well, let me
- 13:52Speaker 2: get in to see, because I know how the engineer.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Now like that that helped him early on in his
- 13:56Speaker 2: process because it's like doing everything himself. When he had
- 13:59Speaker 2: enough money to hire people. If somebody wasn't doing it correct,
- 14:02Speaker 2: he had the knowledge to know you're not doing it
- 14:05Speaker 2: correct or exactly.
- 14:06Speaker 3: That's the pocket what we did here.
- 14:09Speaker 5: We didn't have any idea how to do any of this,
- 14:11Speaker 5: so we were like, we got to figure this out.
- 14:14Speaker 5: The engineer is somebody the sound guy we had originally
- 14:16Speaker 5: shout to sit. If he couldn't show up, we gotta
- 14:18Speaker 5: still tape, so we got to do that. The camera
- 14:20Speaker 5: man doesn't show, we still got to figure out how
- 14:22Speaker 5: to do it.
- 14:22Speaker 3: So I gotta get nice with photoshop man to start,
- 14:25Speaker 3: Like with my ol artworks and single covers and things
- 14:29Speaker 3: of that nature. That's my next thing. I got to
- 14:31Speaker 3: get back to recording myself to I haven't recorded myself
- 14:34Speaker 3: in like the last two years, so now I'm like,
- 14:37Speaker 3: so I need to get back to it.
- 14:38Speaker 5: In the midst of putting the mixtapes out, is there
- 14:40Speaker 5: any doubt creeping in because you said that you went
- 14:42Speaker 5: to school towns in, right, Yeah, towns in, and so
- 14:44Speaker 5: you're going to school. Are you thinking, like, all right,
- 14:46Speaker 5: this mixtape thing, that the music thing is not growing
- 14:48Speaker 5: as fast as I needed to. So I'm gonna go
- 14:50Speaker 5: get an educational what's your thought processes that time?
- 14:53Speaker 3: I had no other choice but to go to college
- 14:55Speaker 3: because I had good grades in school. You know what
- 14:57Speaker 3: I'm saying. I was doing my due diligence in school,
- 14:59Speaker 3: and and it was like a bigger than me sort
- 15:01Speaker 3: of thing, Like my mom didn't go to college, my
- 15:03Speaker 3: grandma didn't go to college, my dad didn't go to college,
- 15:06Speaker 3: my stepdad did go to school. But it was just
- 15:10Speaker 3: something that I had to do. It was like a
- 15:12Speaker 3: bigger than me sort of thing. And I was just like,
- 15:14Speaker 3: I have to occupy my time doing something productive while
- 15:17Speaker 3: this music is like my passion project is the word
- 15:20Speaker 3: everybody used now, right, So school is like my daytime thing.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I'm working a job. So I was at Towson going
- 15:27Speaker 3: to school. I had an actual job at Fridays, and
- 15:30Speaker 3: I was selling weed and while making music all at
- 15:33Speaker 3: the same time. You know what I'm saying, It's really
- 15:35Speaker 3: hustling and multiple streams of income exactly exactly, multiple streamers
- 15:40Speaker 3: for show. And yeah, like, so.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Let me ask you this as far as the education thing,
- 15:47Speaker 2: because this is I wanted to ask you this also
- 15:49Speaker 2: from somebody that was recently in college because we talked
- 15:52Speaker 2: about education a lot how college is kind of and
- 15:55Speaker 2: a lot of ways outdated.
- 15:57Speaker 3: For sure, definitely an outdated model.
- 15:59Speaker 2: So what's your thought on that? Because I was in college,
- 16:02Speaker 2: but it was fifteen years ago. What's your thoughts on
- 16:05Speaker 2: college for people in your generation? People that's coming up.
- 16:09Speaker 2: What's your advice on young people that are looking to
- 16:13Speaker 2: go to school or contemplating should they go to college?
- 16:15Speaker 3: Should they not go to college? Honestly, if you're like,
- 16:20Speaker 3: if you want to be a lawyer, right, it's a
- 16:21Speaker 3: path you gotta go to. You gotta go to college,
- 16:23Speaker 3: get your bachelor's degree, go to law school, get your
- 16:26Speaker 3: juris doctors what do you call it? Jd? And take
- 16:30Speaker 3: the bar exam and do this. I want it to
- 16:32Speaker 3: be a lawyer at one point. That's why I okay,
- 16:34Speaker 3: and doctor doctor. You gotta you know, med school. So
- 16:38Speaker 3: if you have an engineer, mechanical engineer, or just whatever
- 16:43Speaker 3: sort of thing that's like this very specific field if
- 16:46Speaker 3: you but most eighteen year olds, seventeen year olds don't
- 16:48Speaker 3: really know what they want to do. If you don't
- 16:51Speaker 3: know what you want to do, and you're just like
- 16:54Speaker 3: going to college to feel better about yourself, you know
- 16:56Speaker 3: what I'm saying, to feel like, Oh I'm being productive
- 16:59Speaker 3: on my parents, this and that, this and that. That's
- 17:03Speaker 3: like not the wave. You know what I'm saying, Like that,
- 17:06Speaker 3: you're just wasting time. You waste the money and where
- 17:09Speaker 3: you could be using your time into much more lucrative things.
- 17:12Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. That's way more That just
- 17:16Speaker 3: is way more productive, you know what I'm saying. So
- 17:19Speaker 3: if you're just going to college without like a hard
- 17:23Speaker 3: planned blueprint idea of what you want to do, you're
- 17:25Speaker 3: wasting your time. It's a scam, you know what I'm saying,
- 17:28Speaker 3: Because it's this whole layer and it's also like a
- 17:31Speaker 3: societal team to for like people to feel better about themselves.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I got a college degree, so I'm better than you, nigga,
- 17:37Speaker 3: because you don't got your college degree. You know what
- 17:39Speaker 3: I'm saying. With in fact, like nigga, y'all both for
- 17:41Speaker 3: I know niggas with degrees I went to school with
- 17:43Speaker 3: its working at like Bob Evans. You know what I'm saying,
- 17:45Speaker 3: that's working like for real, for real, right and but
- 17:55Speaker 3: talk so it's like a class thing. You know what
- 17:56Speaker 3: I'm saying, Oh, I have this piece of paper, this
- 17:58Speaker 3: college degree. I put in this work, so I am
- 18:01Speaker 3: upper echelon of society. I am better than you, nigga,
- 18:04Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Versus No, that's not the
- 18:07Speaker 3: case at all. And yes, well, if you have like
- 18:11Speaker 3: an exact plan, like you want to be a lawyer, doctor, engineer, astronautic,
- 18:18Speaker 3: go to school because you have a path, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 3: thise what you gotta do whatever. But if not, if
- 18:24Speaker 3: you kind of just winging the ship and you don't
- 18:27Speaker 3: really or if your career path whatever you want to do,
- 18:29Speaker 3: especially like if you want to be an entrepreneur or
- 18:32Speaker 3: this or that, you don't necessarily need school. You don't
- 18:35Speaker 3: have to do college. It's an outdated thing, you know
- 18:37Speaker 3: what I'm saying. And that's that's what I got to say.
- 18:40Speaker 6: I don't even know my degree. I gave my MoMA
- 18:42Speaker 6: a degree. She said, whe's the rest of it. I said,
- 18:44Speaker 6: this is it.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It was a piece of paper, but every everything he said,
- 18:47Speaker 2: that's what I like.
- 18:48Speaker 3: The college dropout. Man. It's like I was just listening
- 18:51Speaker 3: to that ship on the way over here. It's like,
- 18:53Speaker 3: you'll beat that and then you get your You know
- 18:55Speaker 3: what I'm saying all.
- 18:56Speaker 6: The skits, master, masters, masters, Well he said, my.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Dad left me nothing with a bunch of degrees. So yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 3: that's right though.
- 19:04Speaker 5: So at what point, right because you didn't finish, what
- 19:09Speaker 5: point are you saying, You're right, this is going in
- 19:11Speaker 5: the way I want.
- 19:12Speaker 6: My passion is now here.
- 19:13Speaker 5: I'm leaving this displaced townsend at the time, and what's
- 19:16Speaker 5: the conversation like when you go home, mom, I'm not
- 19:19Speaker 5: doing this anymore.
- 19:19Speaker 6: I got to follow my path.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I had an I was like, when I get
- 19:22Speaker 3: a million views on a YouTube video out of here,
- 19:25Speaker 3: but that was my whole thing for sure. I was like,
- 19:27Speaker 3: as soon as I get a million views on you,
- 19:28Speaker 3: because I just need actual because like I'm saying, like
- 19:31Speaker 3: my mom didn't go to school, my dad, my grandma.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I'm a first generation college student. So it was like
- 19:37Speaker 3: a bigger than me sort of thing. You the one,
- 19:39Speaker 3: you know, he'd the chosen one to go to school,
- 19:41Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. So yeah, dog, I was like,
- 19:45Speaker 3: as soon as I got a meal, my whole goal was, Okay,
- 19:48Speaker 3: I'm a finished school and then I'm just so I
- 19:51Speaker 3: have something to fall back on, cause like that piece
- 19:54Speaker 3: of paper is something to be you to fall back on,
- 19:57Speaker 3: but it don't do shit for you, you know what
- 19:59Speaker 3: I'm saying. So yeah, when I got a million views,
- 20:03Speaker 3: I just needed like more so like a numerical or
- 20:11Speaker 3: just like a goal to reach exactly, not even goal,
- 20:13Speaker 3: but just something to show myself like, oh, ship, like
- 20:17Speaker 3: this is actually exactly. It was a tangible thing to
- 20:20Speaker 3: where oh, okay, I can like actually do this. But
- 20:23Speaker 3: it was always honestly, the year that I dropped, I
- 20:25Speaker 3: was gonna drop out regardless because I was like, I
- 20:28Speaker 3: was just gonna wing it for sure, and it just
- 20:30Speaker 3: God's time and shout out to Gods and God's time,
- 20:34Speaker 3: because I was definitely gonna leave regardless that same year
- 20:37Speaker 3: for sure, because I did three years two or three
- 20:40Speaker 3: years three years, and I was like, I was just
- 20:42Speaker 3: over it, dog, you know what I'm saying. Ass.
- 20:45Speaker 6: So you content on YouTube how frequently daily?
- 20:50Speaker 3: Not that frequently, because I was always on quality over quantity,
- 20:53Speaker 3: even when I had no fan base, you know, no
- 20:55Speaker 3: real audience. I was just always like, you know, if
- 20:57Speaker 3: I dropped some ship, it got to be some dope ship.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Like a cousin of mine used to shoot my videos.
- 21:02Speaker 3: He'd be pissed because you know, he wouldn't charge me
- 21:05Speaker 3: for him, but I would always be like very meticulous
- 21:09Speaker 3: about the art and I want it this way, like
- 21:11Speaker 3: not because I just had a bigger vision in him.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm saying. He's like, yo, I
- 21:15Speaker 3: can't even get mad at him. He like, yo, nigga,
- 21:17Speaker 3: don't got time. But I'm like, yo, bro, like you know,
- 21:20Speaker 3: my vision was just there and yeah, so it just
- 21:26Speaker 3: always trying to drop like the highest quality work, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 3: that was always my thing. Like we in such just
- 21:31Speaker 3: like content content flood flood flood flood flood era and
- 21:35Speaker 3: it works for certain things and for certain assets and
- 21:39Speaker 3: for certain products. But I feel like when you know
- 21:41Speaker 3: you got dope shit, and you confident within your dope shit,
- 21:45Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. It's like Kendrick, he't dropped
- 21:47Speaker 3: an album in four years. Next time he dropped, I'm
- 21:49Speaker 3: gonna listen to that motherfucker show, you know what I'm saying.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Like Nads dropped within his I'm like every two years.
- 21:55Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying. So I just refused to
- 21:57Speaker 3: put out some men. I refuse to put out some
- 21:59Speaker 3: shit that like I won't die over. You know what
- 22:02Speaker 3: I'm saying, I will argue with some if I put
- 22:05Speaker 3: out an album, I will sit here and argue with
- 22:07Speaker 3: your niggas to death about that jump. You know what
- 22:09Speaker 3: I'm saying, like passionately will kill a nig about my album.
- 22:11Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, I'm not that passionate about
- 22:14Speaker 3: the music man, and what I'm putting out. You ain't
- 22:16Speaker 3: gonna hear from me as an album, as a full album. Nah.
- 22:20Speaker 2: So let me ask you this as far as shout
- 22:23Speaker 2: out to Ryan Leslie, he told us something that was
- 22:25Speaker 2: very powerful. He said, never discount the value of a
- 22:28Speaker 2: niche audience or just in your pocket.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I feel like there's so many different pockets of music
- 22:34Speaker 2: these days. With rest in peace to mac Miller, he
- 22:36Speaker 2: was a huge start. I never heard mac Miller song
- 22:38Speaker 2: on the radio. Even Russ. I've never heard Russ on
- 22:41Speaker 2: the radio, but I know he has a large fan
- 22:43Speaker 2: base and a large following, and there's a bunch of
- 22:45Speaker 2: other people like that.
- 22:46Speaker 4: So I say that.
- 22:48Speaker 2: To say, you are actually on the radio, But how
- 22:52Speaker 2: do you feel about that?
- 22:54Speaker 4: Like it's for young artists?
- 22:56Speaker 2: Can you give them some words as far as like
- 22:59Speaker 2: do you think that it's better to try to reach
- 23:02Speaker 2: every single person, like yeah, Drake, or is it just
- 23:04Speaker 2: like double down on your audience and then if everybody
- 23:07Speaker 2: comes and that's just a blessing.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Man, It just depends on what you want to do.
- 23:10Speaker 3: You can be a somebody who just builds the Like
- 23:14Speaker 3: I was saying earlier, that's the way you lay your foundation, right,
- 23:17Speaker 3: is just build your niche. That's the foundation that gives
- 23:19Speaker 3: you a let's look at a rap career like a
- 23:21Speaker 3: home right, build your core audience, your core fan base,
- 23:25Speaker 3: lay that foundation to lay that upon. But it's just
- 23:28Speaker 3: certain levels that you want to reach at the beginning
- 23:30Speaker 3: of stage. At the beginning stages, don't even worry about radio.
- 23:34Speaker 3: You know, I've I've only been a game for three years,
- 23:36Speaker 3: but this last year I just started getting on the radio.
- 23:38Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying. I would say last year
- 23:40Speaker 3: and yeah, but it's certain I want to be the biggest,
- 23:46Speaker 3: most successful artist in the world, so you need radio
- 23:49Speaker 3: for that. So for me personally, I'm not chasing no
- 23:53Speaker 3: radio single. I'm not that's lame, that's corny. You know
- 23:55Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I'm never gonna chase the radio I'm
- 23:58Speaker 3: never gonna make a song like, oh, this gonna be
- 24:01Speaker 3: good for the radio. You never never gonna do that,
- 24:04Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. When you do, if you
- 24:06Speaker 3: find yourself start doing that, you lost. You already lost,
- 24:08Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. That shit lame as fuck.
- 24:10Speaker 3: But at a certain point, if you just happen to
- 24:14Speaker 3: make a really dope song and it's doing well on radio,
- 24:17Speaker 3: like you ain't never hurt nobody, You get what I'm saying.
- 24:19Speaker 3: But you shouldn't create music for the radio, and you
- 24:22Speaker 3: shouldn't chase the radio. You get what I'm saying. It'll
- 24:24Speaker 3: come when it's time to come. But I think I forgot.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I think shout out Juliet Jones. I don't know if
- 24:29Speaker 3: that that's Juliet's name right from Atlantic. She told me
- 24:33Speaker 3: you need every you're not a superstar and too, you're.
- 24:37Speaker 6: On the radio.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Tobody who said that?
- 24:39Speaker 3: That's I think funk Flex said that too. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 3: you're not a superstar until you're on the radio. Like
- 24:44Speaker 3: it's only it's like excher lines of stardom. You can be,
- 24:47Speaker 3: I don't know, you can be like you ever heard
- 24:50Speaker 3: of his nigga name n f he or he's white
- 24:51Speaker 3: boy named n F exactly. But this motherfucker sells out
- 24:56Speaker 3: like amphitheaters. You never hear. Nobody in the one knows
- 25:00Speaker 3: who NF is. I just always research things. But this
- 25:04Speaker 3: motherfucker be selling out Amphitheater sold out. You can probably
- 25:07Speaker 3: do arenas. You get what I'm saying. It's a lot
- 25:09Speaker 3: of artists like that too. But if you want to
- 25:11Speaker 3: be like a true yeah like Drake not even but
- 25:15Speaker 3: like yeah, yeah. It just depends on whatever your path.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Like if you know the radio didn't play like anything
- 25:20Speaker 3: from like my last album, I ain't heard about it
- 25:22Speaker 3: at all, Like it's all it is what it is,
- 25:25Speaker 3: but I ain't gonna reject it. You get what I'm saying.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I'm accepted for what it is.
- 25:28Speaker 6: That's what makes you special because.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Shout out to you, say you heard my showing radio,
- 25:32Speaker 3: So shout out to whatever radio.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah, one O five. I was hearing it so much
- 25:40Speaker 2: I started to actually remember the lines like fifteen my body.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Now, I was saying, I think that's why people flock
- 25:49Speaker 5: to you. It's because of this organic feel like I'm
- 25:52Speaker 5: seeing veterans in the game, right even though there's not
- 25:55Speaker 5: a number one single, They're flocking to you because of
- 25:58Speaker 5: the gift the craft. So this it acceptance at the
- 26:01Speaker 5: upper echelon. Like I remember you posted up with Doctor Dre. Yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 5: I'm thinking, like this kid doesn't have an album yet.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, Like what was that?
- 26:09Speaker 6: What is that like when you see acceptance from these greats?
- 26:11Speaker 3: Man, I just be having to pinch myself, man, And
- 26:14Speaker 3: thank god I was when I was at Dre House,
- 26:15Speaker 3: I think I was like, yo, kind of I went
- 26:17Speaker 3: to the bathroom and started thanking God immediately for real. Bro,
- 26:20Speaker 3: I'm like, bro, what the fuck nigga like this Doctor Dre. Bro,
- 26:22Speaker 3: this is like like just the God. You know what
- 26:26Speaker 3: I'm saying? Like, uh, Like he like rock and Roll
- 26:30Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. He's our Quincy Jones. Doctor Dre is
- 26:33Speaker 3: our Quincy Jones. Sure icon literally a living we use
- 26:37Speaker 3: this word go so loosely now and like in classic
- 26:42Speaker 3: so loosely now, but all right, but yo, but yeah
- 26:50Speaker 3: we use case in point but but yeah, but that
- 26:55Speaker 3: nigga's like a real life living legend icon go and
- 26:59Speaker 3: yeah yeah man, that I'm still like super appreciative, and
- 27:03Speaker 3: I like, don't take that relationship for granted, because he
- 27:06Speaker 3: was so early. You know what I'm saying, So shout
- 27:09Speaker 3: out doctor J that's the I seen.
- 27:10Speaker 6: I've seen him.
- 27:11Speaker 5: Then I saw you with Puff I'm like, yeah, he
- 27:13Speaker 5: must be the next That was my mind, Like I
- 27:15Speaker 5: heard that he must be so funny.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Shout out Puff too, y'all got y'all, y'all, y'all should
- 27:20Speaker 3: bring that liquor. And you know what, man, being around
- 27:23Speaker 3: puff Man inspires the fuck out of me all the time,
- 27:26Speaker 3: Like just being the same with him, just icon legend,
- 27:30Speaker 3: go to the highest level and he's still like work
- 27:34Speaker 3: like he ain't Puff you know what I'm saying, He's
- 27:36Speaker 3: still got so that ship. Every time I'm around him,
- 27:38Speaker 3: just his mind stay. And he's a man of God
- 27:40Speaker 3: as well. You know what I'm saying, Just like being
- 27:43Speaker 3: is inspiring as fuck because every when you he's so
- 27:46Speaker 3: much of a boss that in a rap lyric, whenever
- 27:49Speaker 3: you say boss, the following line is gonna be like Diddy,
- 27:53Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like Puff or like like
- 27:55Speaker 3: when he is become a noun or adjective for the words,
- 28:00Speaker 3: you know what, Like for real, he's like a legit,
- 28:01Speaker 3: a a living adjective for the word boss.
- 28:03Speaker 4: So black Caesar, I call him black Caesar for real.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I call him man Samosa for real.
- 28:09Speaker 4: That's even better. That's even better.
- 28:11Speaker 2: So let me ask you this, as far as on
- 28:13Speaker 2: the on the business side, we hear a lot about masters,
- 28:16Speaker 2: only your masks and things of that nature.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Is this something that you thought about?
- 28:21Speaker 3: Have you?
- 28:21Speaker 2: I don't know if you're on your masters or not,
- 28:22Speaker 2: but have you thought about that? And is it in
- 28:24Speaker 2: your in your brain process?
- 28:27Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:28Speaker 4: How do you feel about that?
- 28:29Speaker 3: Yeah? Ownership is is everything because what are you going
- 28:32Speaker 3: to leave your kids behind? You get what I'm saying, Like,
- 28:37Speaker 3: who's the artist I'm thinking of, Like Michael Jackson kids
- 28:40Speaker 3: are eating crazy? You know what I'm saying. I don't
- 28:42Speaker 3: know if Michael owned his man. I think he does.
- 28:44Speaker 3: He owned his Masters and the Beatles catalog and they.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Just sold that back the state.
- 28:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 3: But but yeah, I mean that's things that your grand
- 28:55Speaker 3: especially when you make dope music like that, that's something
- 28:57Speaker 3: that your great grandkids they're going to sell your mass
- 29:00Speaker 3: you leave it up to them. So yeah, shout out Grandpa,
- 29:05Speaker 3: thanks for not selling them masters. But but yeah, it's
- 29:10Speaker 3: just you know, all about ownership. You get what I'm saying.
- 29:12Speaker 3: That's like one of the things everybody's preaching out, but
- 29:14Speaker 3: that's like the living embodiment of ownership. Nine times out
- 29:18Speaker 3: of ten, as a new artist, especially when you're signing
- 29:20Speaker 3: to a major label, you're not going to own your
- 29:23Speaker 3: masters unless you come in with the crazy dumb leverage
- 29:26Speaker 3: and even thinking on that level of ownership, because most
- 29:29Speaker 3: of the time when you come in the game, you're
- 29:30Speaker 3: just like, y'all need to check or you're like you're
- 29:33Speaker 3: in a position most artists are in a position to
- 29:37Speaker 3: where you don't really have anything. You don't got no money.
- 29:39Speaker 3: You come from the you know myself included come from.
- 29:41Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, nothing, You get what I'm saying,
- 29:44Speaker 3: and you just like somebody waves some bread at you,
- 29:46Speaker 3: you like, fuck it. I'll cross that bridge when it
- 29:49Speaker 3: comes the fact that most niggas getting too bad deals
- 29:52Speaker 3: because they're like, man, fuck it, I know it's a
- 29:53Speaker 3: bad deal, but nigga, I'm gonna get in this just
- 29:56Speaker 3: you're gonna get me in the game. I don't got
- 29:57Speaker 3: ship right now, and I'll cross that bridge when it comes.
- 30:00Speaker 3: I worry about that shit later. Most people don't even
- 30:02Speaker 3: have the business acumen or the access to the information
- 30:05Speaker 3: you get what I'm saying, or knowledge. That's that's one thing.
- 30:08Speaker 3: That money or not even money, but being in the
- 30:11Speaker 3: position that I am has gave me access to the
- 30:14Speaker 3: information you get what I'm saying, because that's the number one.
- 30:17Speaker 3: But honestly, we're in the era. We are in the
- 30:19Speaker 3: information age, right access you have to do the research
- 30:23Speaker 3: and the knowledge on it, you know. So most people
- 30:25Speaker 3: come into the game, like I said, not even on
- 30:27Speaker 3: that mindset and not having a business acumen to even
- 30:30Speaker 3: think about ownership, owning my master's making sure the percentages
- 30:33Speaker 3: are right, the longevity, this, this, and that. Niggas like, Yo,
- 30:37Speaker 3: this million nigga milk nigga, give me that shit. Nigga
- 30:41Speaker 3: right now, give me a million dollars. Let me take
- 30:43Speaker 3: this ship for these motherfucking white folks change their mind
- 30:46Speaker 3: for real. That's what niggas be thinking, like, let me
- 30:48Speaker 3: just take this shit before they change their mind. Or
- 30:50Speaker 3: why it's on the table, get it, why it's going.
- 30:52Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying, versus just like let me
- 30:55Speaker 3: sit back. You know, you get that with time, you
- 30:58Speaker 3: get what I'm saying, Like that confidence within yourself and
- 31:02Speaker 3: you know, it's just a learning process because it ain't
- 31:05Speaker 3: like one right way to go as an artist. You
- 31:07Speaker 3: get what I'm saying. It ain't okay sign to a
- 31:09Speaker 3: label and do this, do this, do that. It's so
- 31:12Speaker 3: many different avenues that you can take. You can, like
- 31:14Speaker 3: I said, you can be independent. You can be an NF.
- 31:17Speaker 3: You can be a.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Russ is rust independent.
- 31:21Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you can.
- 31:23Speaker 3: For sure you can be a RUSS. And you know,
- 31:26Speaker 3: just on your shit and collect upon that, you know,
- 31:28Speaker 3: forever the rest of your life, and you know, just
- 31:32Speaker 3: just continually build. And it's always the long grind always
- 31:36Speaker 3: ends up paying off the most because some people just
- 31:38Speaker 3: want to pump people. Like like I was saying, we're
- 31:40Speaker 3: in this content flood age, especially like within music. You
- 31:44Speaker 3: get what I'm saying, Like everybody just like flood flog
- 31:46Speaker 3: you gotta get it. Niggas always say you gotta get it.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Why of goings? You know what I'm saying, blood Like, nah, nigga,
- 31:50Speaker 3: my shit doping and everybody shit in my opinion, you
- 31:52Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So I'm gonna take my time
- 31:54Speaker 3: with this and make sure I put out the best
- 31:57Speaker 3: quality work that I can live behind and I can
- 31:59Speaker 3: sleep well and night. You gel what I'm saying, Like.
- 32:01Speaker 5: I like that mentality people putting I'm gonna make ninety
- 32:04Speaker 5: nine songs, one of them is gonna be good for sure.
- 32:06Speaker 5: It's like, well, you just put out ninety eight whack junt.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's at and it's a It's a fine
- 32:10Speaker 3: balance too, man, that it's just finding that perfect balance.
- 32:14Speaker 3: But the main thing is just putting out music that
- 32:16Speaker 3: you feel good about that you can stand behind. You
- 32:18Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Like sometimes you want to put
- 32:21Speaker 3: out like different sounds to experiment and just test out.
- 32:24Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying, like put this on the sea.
- 32:26Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. But but for me personally,
- 32:29Speaker 3: if I put it out, especially an album an LP, well,
- 32:33Speaker 3: this is part of my legacy. I'm thinking about my legacy.
- 32:35Speaker 3: I'm trying to be in the rock and roll the
- 32:37Speaker 3: Hip Hop Hall of Fame at the end of the day,
- 32:39Speaker 3: you gel what I'm saying. So with every single song,
- 32:41Speaker 3: with every single body of work, I'm thinking, how is
- 32:44Speaker 3: this going to affect my catalog in the long run.
- 32:47Speaker 3: When I'm entering as an inductee of the rock and
- 32:50Speaker 3: roll or the hip Hop Hall of Fame. So that's
- 32:51Speaker 3: how I'm thinking, just like in a in a bigger picture,
- 32:54Speaker 3: you know.
- 32:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:54Speaker 5: So when you signed to Atlantic, was it as a cruel?
- 32:57Speaker 5: You guys had individuals individual individual So yeah, here's the
- 33:00Speaker 5: thing that I think is impressive about you. Right, you
- 33:03Speaker 5: don't spend a lot of money and you don't do jewelry.
- 33:07Speaker 6: Yeah, you consciously made that decision. Is that just something watch?
- 33:11Speaker 3: Thank you appreciate it. Appreciate it.
- 33:15Speaker 5: Is that something you consciously went into your career saying,
- 33:18Speaker 5: you know what, that's just not something I'm thinking about
- 33:21Speaker 5: or were you thinking longevity?
- 33:22Speaker 6: I'm a stacked paper stackedus.
- 33:23Speaker 3: People, man, because a combination of both. Like when I
- 33:28Speaker 3: was in college and you know, I was like making
- 33:30Speaker 3: my little money from you know, hustling and ship like entrepreneurship.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I had like two gold chains. I had like the
- 33:36Speaker 3: mcm book bags. You know what I'm saying, study the
- 33:40Speaker 3: Pradas and the Balenciagas and ship. But when I like,
- 33:44Speaker 3: because I was trying to have to create the solution,
- 33:47Speaker 3: I was having money, you know what I'm saying, especially
- 33:49Speaker 3: when I get them the refund checks back. Oh, boy,
- 33:52Speaker 3: we lit lit falling for real and was I saying,
- 34:00Speaker 3: but yeah, But once I got bred, it was just
- 34:02Speaker 3: more soa me knowing like okay, like I got this
- 34:06Speaker 3: and it's just not something that I ever wanted to
- 34:09Speaker 3: become a part of me. You get what I'm saying,
- 34:11Speaker 3: like the jewelry or whatever other vanity because I feel
- 34:15Speaker 3: like in hip hop right now, man, it's this big
- 34:17Speaker 3: ass dick swinging contest about who can spend the most
- 34:20Speaker 3: money on the dumbest shit. You know what I'm saying,
- 34:23Speaker 3: Like for real, bro, and I get it, like with
- 34:25Speaker 3: Jory and shit, I get it cause like Nigga, just
- 34:28Speaker 3: watch God don't make me feel good. You know, it's
- 34:30Speaker 3: a different thing. It's like a balance because like when
- 34:33Speaker 3: you feel good, when you look good, you feel good.
- 34:36Speaker 3: When you feel good, you do good. So it just
- 34:37Speaker 3: depends on whatever approach you want to take. That's why
- 34:39Speaker 3: I never talk down or you know what I'm saying,
- 34:41Speaker 3: got anything to say about anybody that like want to
- 34:43Speaker 3: spend a bunch of money on jewelry, because that's them,
- 34:46Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. That could be like they
- 34:47Speaker 3: always wanted to shine, like we in the Blessed ass position.
- 34:50Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, why not fuck it? You
- 34:52Speaker 3: only live once. You got to live your life two
- 34:54Speaker 3: at the same time. But for me personally, that just
- 34:56Speaker 3: wasn't like my thing. You get what I'm saying, And
- 34:59Speaker 3: I knew like fiscally what like like we were just
- 35:05Speaker 3: saying earlier, like most people like yo, I want a
- 35:07Speaker 3: million when they signed to a lab, but they want
- 35:08Speaker 3: a million dollars. But you don't realize a million dollars
- 35:10Speaker 3: is really like three hundred and fifty thousand after taxes
- 35:13Speaker 3: and commissions, and that's if you don't spend shit, you
- 35:16Speaker 3: know what I'm saying.
- 35:17Speaker 4: So I was gonna ask you about that. Can you
- 35:20Speaker 4: break that down?
- 35:20Speaker 3: Loo?
- 35:20Speaker 2: Can you talk about that off camera? Like a million
- 35:22Speaker 2: dollars taxes and you gotta pay manage.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Yeah, so everybody when they come in the game, everybody
- 35:26Speaker 3: just want to take the big check, like out, yah,
- 35:28Speaker 3: I want five million, ten million dollar deals and niggas
- 35:31Speaker 3: is getting them for real in real life. But let's
- 35:34Speaker 3: just say it for like a meal. Uh, let's use
- 35:37Speaker 3: one meal because it's easy math. So, like say you
- 35:39Speaker 3: were a new artist and you signed for a million dollars, Well, niggas,
- 35:42Speaker 3: don't tell you it's boom. Taxes fifty percent off rip boom,
- 35:45Speaker 3: that's five hundred thousand, but uh, taxes take off Let's
- 35:49Speaker 3: say business expenses, right, so a million dollars boom, you
- 35:51Speaker 3: got one This is best case scenario. By the way,
- 35:54Speaker 3: say you only got one manager. Most niggas got two
- 35:57Speaker 3: managers or like they're in a production deal or some
- 35:59Speaker 3: shit like that. So let's say this best case scenario,
- 36:01Speaker 3: shit super cleaning your artist you got You just signed
- 36:04Speaker 3: four million dollars. You got one manager, okay, one million,
- 36:07Speaker 3: ten percent best case, it's nine hundred thousand boom. Then
- 36:11Speaker 3: you got your lawyer five percent and your business manager
- 36:14Speaker 3: boom boom boom. That's another uh fifty thousand, fifty down
- 36:20Speaker 3: to eight hundred thousand. Let's say you just happen to
- 36:22Speaker 3: have two managers, so boom another manager that's ten or
- 36:25Speaker 3: you pay manager twenty percent whatever, so boom, take out
- 36:27Speaker 3: another hundred thousand. So now you have seven hundred thousand.
- 36:30Speaker 3: You're gonna get taxed off. That's seven hundred thousand. So
- 36:32Speaker 3: now that's three hundred and fifty g's and that's best
- 36:34Speaker 3: case scenario. If you ain't like signing to some fucked
- 36:37Speaker 3: up ass production deal like most niggas is, or if
- 36:40Speaker 3: you uh, you know, got a manager, you're paying twenty
- 36:43Speaker 3: five percent, or whatever the case may be. So let's
- 36:45Speaker 3: just say best case scenario, a mill you get a
- 36:47Speaker 3: million dollar check after taxes and commissions, that's really three
- 36:50Speaker 3: hundred and fifty thousand. But niggas ain't spending money like
- 36:54Speaker 3: they got three hundred and fifty thousand, cause they don't
- 36:56Speaker 3: tell you that. Like I want to talk with labels,
- 36:58Speaker 3: we need to have a discussion us as artists about
- 37:01Speaker 3: like giving financial literacy classes, bro, because most artists we like,
- 37:05Speaker 3: come from nothing, you know what I'm saying. They don't
- 37:07Speaker 3: come from having even if they come from like better things,
- 37:10Speaker 3: they don't come from having a million dollars most of
- 37:12Speaker 3: the time, you know what I'm saying, having access to
- 37:14Speaker 3: this amount of money. You get what I'm saying. So
- 37:16Speaker 3: we need to start instituting like financial literacy classes, like
- 37:20Speaker 3: even for a hour. But most motherfuckers don't give a
- 37:22Speaker 3: fuck about the niggas they sign, you know what I'm saying,
- 37:25Speaker 3: They just like whatever, milking it. So I feel like
- 37:28Speaker 3: we got to start implementing that because when folks get
- 37:31Speaker 3: that million dollar checks, they ain't spending based off having
- 37:33Speaker 3: three hundred and fifty. They spending off of that million dollars.
- 37:36Speaker 3: So they're gonna buy a hundred can jewelry to feel
- 37:39Speaker 3: good because like I said, I can't knock get nigga
- 37:41Speaker 3: when you when I put on some jurey or nigga,
- 37:44Speaker 3: be feeling good, you know what I'm saying. Like, like
- 37:45Speaker 3: I said, when you look good, you feel good. We
- 37:47Speaker 3: feel good, you do good. And some niggas get cars
- 37:51Speaker 3: one you know, treat they mom. I remember when I
- 37:53Speaker 3: first got like something, some real money. I wired my
- 37:57Speaker 3: mom a large sum amount of money. That's why I do.
- 38:00Speaker 3: My mom was the realist. She was like, how much
- 38:02Speaker 3: money you got in your bank account? Will you pay
- 38:05Speaker 3: taxes yet? You you know what I'm saying. I was
- 38:07Speaker 3: like no. She was like, well, you can't afford to
- 38:09Speaker 3: send this for real? Sent it back, sent it back,
- 38:15Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. So when I was able to,
- 38:17Speaker 3: you know, really have it like that, God to bless
- 38:19Speaker 3: moms all the way, you know, because that's some real ship.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Who mama gonna do that? You send your mama a
- 38:24Speaker 3: fat ass check wire a crazy she ain't never seen before.
- 38:28Speaker 3: She's gonna send it.
- 38:28Speaker 6: She's gonna be like where you get it from?
- 38:30Speaker 3: For sure? You know what I'm saying.
- 38:32Speaker 2: So that's that's that's a mother's intuition. Because even my
- 38:37Speaker 2: mom to this day, like I send her like some
- 38:39Speaker 2: money and she'd be like, did you do this yet?
- 38:42Speaker 2: Like I'm like if obviously, if I sent it, I
- 38:44Speaker 2: don't need it, Like it's all good. But you know
- 38:46Speaker 2: that that says a lot about how your mom saying
- 38:49Speaker 2: thinking of you before she saw of herself, for sure.
- 38:52Speaker 2: That's that's that's the that's that's powerful right there. Let
- 38:54Speaker 2: me ask you this as far as as far as
- 38:57Speaker 2: like management, right, because this is something that we a
- 39:00Speaker 2: lot as far as like management and all that I'm looking.
- 39:05Speaker 6: We got management in the room.
- 39:07Speaker 2: No, no, no, How does an artist choose a manager? And
- 39:13Speaker 2: what do you think how like the role of a
- 39:17Speaker 2: manager should be an artist's career?
- 39:20Speaker 5: Well, I'm joking now, he said, this is awful line
- 39:26Speaker 5: right right.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Right, But man, honestly, with me and my manager, it
- 39:32Speaker 3: was like a divine time and sort of situation, we
- 39:35Speaker 3: just linked up at the perfect time, and you know,
- 39:38Speaker 3: I had the homie managers. You know what I'm saying,
- 39:40Speaker 3: Like my niggas that when I was like making my mixtape,
- 39:43Speaker 3: I had my nigga Eric, shop my nigga Eric and
- 39:47Speaker 3: we two super alpha males, you know what I'm saying.
- 39:49Speaker 3: So it didn't work out super early. Matter of fact,
- 39:52Speaker 3: like before my first I was like fifteen years old
- 39:55Speaker 3: and my man's managing me, and we were like, man,
- 39:57Speaker 3: fuck this shit, it don't work out, But you just
- 40:02Speaker 3: gotta man with it. Just got to be somebody that
- 40:08Speaker 3: won you mesh well with with a manager. And like,
- 40:11Speaker 3: I don't got all the answers at the end of
- 40:12Speaker 3: the day, I'm still a fairly new artist. I'm still young,
- 40:16Speaker 3: So take everything I say with a grain of salt
- 40:19Speaker 3: throughout this whole interview. By the way, you know what
- 40:20Speaker 3: I'm saying, because I'm still learning. In the grand scheme
- 40:23Speaker 3: of things, I still don't know sho not for real,
- 40:26Speaker 3: it's real. So everything with a grain of salt. But
- 40:30Speaker 3: in my opinion, it should be like you know someone
- 40:34Speaker 3: that you both are in alignment and both operate on
- 40:40Speaker 3: the same wavelength, you know what I'm saying, operating on
- 40:43Speaker 3: similar frequencies to where they already know you as a person.
- 40:47Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. One, do y'all get along
- 40:49Speaker 3: well too? Is it somebody that you can really trust?
- 40:51Speaker 3: That's why a lot of people, Uh, my manager Ace,
- 40:54Speaker 3: I've been with him since day one. You know what
- 40:55Speaker 3: I'm saying, since the very beginning, since I had like
- 40:57Speaker 3: three thousand followers. You get what I'm saying. So it's
- 41:00Speaker 3: someone who I've grown to trust over time. You guild
- 41:02Speaker 3: what I'm saying, and someone that you trust. One, someone
- 41:07Speaker 3: that you're confident in their abilities to represent you when
- 41:11Speaker 3: you're not in the room. You guild what I'm saying.
- 41:12Speaker 3: They got to be someone who you're not afraid they're
- 41:15Speaker 3: gonna say some stupid ship to like misrepresent you. You know
- 41:17Speaker 3: what I'm saying when you're not there. Two. Somebody that hmmm.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Trustworthy.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Yeah, like yeah, trust that's that's for somebody trustworthy.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Because you know what I find it, Because it's like
- 41:33Speaker 2: even reaching out. There's been several artists I won't mention
- 41:36Speaker 2: their name, but.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Niggas want you to manage. Actually that's a good idea.
- 41:43Speaker 6: Actually, remember what you said about that financial literacy thing. Yeah, Atlantic,
- 41:50Speaker 6: we know two guys that teach it. So if you
- 41:52Speaker 6: need artists and.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Atlantic is definitely shout out Julie Kaiser, Craig Calm in Dallas.
- 41:58Speaker 3: They're all like real dope ogs to that been in
- 42:01Speaker 3: the game for a long time. So they'll sit If
- 42:04Speaker 3: I'm like tripping, they'll like call me and be like, yo,
- 42:07Speaker 3: you sure you want to be spending You know what
- 42:08Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like they actually, I like, you know, good people,
- 42:11Speaker 3: but in some situations you get what I'm saying. It
- 42:14Speaker 3: ain't It ain't like that all the.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Time now, But I was saying, I've reached out to
- 42:17Speaker 2: a few artist, a few arts and hit us up.
- 42:18Speaker 2: I reached out and they like, y'all want to come on,
- 42:20Speaker 2: Like I want to link with y'all. Yeah, it's not
- 42:23Speaker 2: even it's a done deal here. Hit my manager and
- 42:25Speaker 2: just work out the details. I hate the manager and
- 42:27Speaker 2: manager never responds yeah like that. It'd be like it's
- 42:30Speaker 2: either just like I feel like sometimes the manager might
- 42:33Speaker 2: have their own.
- 42:33Speaker 3: And sometimes as an artist you don't even need a
- 42:35Speaker 3: manager until you reach a certain echelne. That's like you're
- 42:38Speaker 3: reaching out. You're talking with somebody with like three thousand followers.
- 42:43Speaker 4: And just using that number as of talk to my manager.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah, they're like talk to a manager you like, nigga,
- 42:48Speaker 3: What if I was that guy with three thousand followers?
- 42:51Speaker 3: What are you right now with the man like nigga?
- 42:53Speaker 3: What do you have to do? You know what I'm saying,
- 42:55Speaker 3: Like real, you know what I'm saying. So and I'm
- 43:00Speaker 3: saying that because I was that guy with three thousand
- 43:02Speaker 3: followers with the with the homie managers. You know what
- 43:04Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like for real? But uh yeah, dog, but yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 3: And you got to empower your folks to around you. You
- 43:13Speaker 3: get what I'm saying, Like put like when you like,
- 43:14Speaker 3: when I'm on the road, all you see is the
- 43:16Speaker 3: homies I grew up with. You get what I'm saying,
- 43:18Speaker 3: Like my homie camp is my tour manager with tone,
- 43:21Speaker 3: my boy Ian's on the roll with me. You get
- 43:23Speaker 3: what I'm saying. Every single person on that tour bus
- 43:26Speaker 3: with me is homies that I grew up with, and
- 43:28Speaker 3: now we're seeing the world together and getting paid to
- 43:31Speaker 3: see the world. And that's like the most dopest, most
- 43:34Speaker 3: powerful shit you know to me. And because when like
- 43:37Speaker 3: I'm on tour, they just able to cross paths with
- 43:40Speaker 3: just like they were here with me today. Somebody like
- 43:42Speaker 3: y'all to link up and build genuine, real connections on
- 43:46Speaker 3: their own, you know what I'm saying. To wherever they
- 43:49Speaker 3: able to branch off and do their own thing. You
- 43:51Speaker 3: get what I'm saying. Niggas can't be no hos either,
- 43:54Speaker 3: like when your homie Black has been able now for real,
- 43:57Speaker 3: Niggas can't be holes like when you said when you
- 44:00Speaker 3: say it, so they really capture that no no no
- 44:03Speaker 3: for sure, like empower your people, you know what I'm saying,
- 44:06Speaker 3: like like when I'm on the road.
- 44:10Speaker 5: And this episode is brought to you by P and

- 46:07Speaker 7: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 46:11Speaker 7: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 46:15Speaker 7: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 46:19Speaker 7: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 46:23Speaker 7: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 46:26Speaker 7: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 46:31Speaker 7: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 46:35Speaker 7: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 46:38Speaker 7: are here illegally, your next you will be fine nearly
- 46:42Speaker 7: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned and deported, you will
- 46:46Speaker 7: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 46:50Speaker 7: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 46:54Speaker 7: Do what's right.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Leave now.
- 46:56Speaker 7: Under President Trump America's laws, border and fail families.
- 47:00Speaker 6: Will be protected sponsored by the United States Partner at
- 47:03Speaker 6: Home and Security. That we'll tell you after this.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Okay, cool, y'all must it must be an inside but yeah,
- 47:11Speaker 3: but like just empower your people, dog, you know what
- 47:13Speaker 3: I'm saying. Always empower your people to where they can
- 47:16Speaker 3: go off and branch off eventually and do their own thing.
- 47:20Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 47:22Speaker 4: That's it. That's a fact.
- 47:23Speaker 2: That's kind of like what we built with Lisia is
- 47:26Speaker 2: a whole family of everybody that you always see, is what.
- 47:28Speaker 2: There's always people that we either are related to that
- 47:31Speaker 2: we grew up with. Real small you know.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Yeah, shout out Paulo g Man. I see like his
- 47:36Speaker 3: mom manages them. She's you know, I see a lot
- 47:39Speaker 3: of mom managers. She's crushing it. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 3: So that's I think that's the.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Rulership because I'm thinking that the people that you grew
- 47:49Speaker 5: up in Maryland?
- 47:50Speaker 6: Is that are you talking about?
- 47:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 47:51Speaker 6: He came west because I really.
- 47:53Speaker 5: Thought she was from the West Coast where he talked,
- 47:54Speaker 5: I'm like, this guy's got to be from the west what.
- 47:57Speaker 6: But I heard him like and then I read him like, well,
- 47:59Speaker 6: he's not on the West Coast.
- 48:00Speaker 3: So I've never heard that before. By the way, bro show,
- 48:04Speaker 3: I think it's show. That's probably definitely for show. I've
- 48:08Speaker 3: been living here the last two years, so that might
- 48:09Speaker 3: have definitely take for the show.
- 48:11Speaker 5: You know, I'm in that snowfall mind step right now.
- 48:13Speaker 5: So Franklin always saying for show. So like when you said,
- 48:16Speaker 5: I'm like, oh okay, maybe from there.
- 48:18Speaker 6: So it is it the same crew that they came
- 48:20Speaker 6: with you where you left me? Okay, perfect, perfect, same crew.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Yeah, no new friends, none at all. Anti social with
- 48:27Speaker 3: that all the way kicking it.
- 48:29Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll get to that a little later.
- 48:31Speaker 2: So branding, do you what other means do you bring?
- 48:36Speaker 2: Like merch you into the merchant.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah, so with branding, it's like high level. That's like
- 48:41Speaker 3: my company, Like my it's perfect. How do you mention that?
- 48:46Speaker 3: But but yeah, not Brandon. So high level is my thing.
- 48:49Speaker 3: It's a it's a record label. It's a way of
- 48:51Speaker 3: life more than anything. It's my brand, my way of life.
- 48:54Speaker 3: It's something I'm very passionate about because it's like whenever
- 48:59Speaker 3: like this is a high level interview. You know what
- 49:00Speaker 3: I'm saying, got to make my music high level. You
- 49:02Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. When Homie make a doult play
- 49:04Speaker 3: or that some high level shit. You know what I'm saying.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Everybody is high level, y'all high level. You make dope music,
- 49:09Speaker 3: y'all high level. You know what I'm saying, my fans
- 49:12Speaker 3: all high level, you know what I'm saying. So it's
- 49:13Speaker 3: a mind stay, a frame of mind in a way
- 49:15Speaker 3: of doing things. You get what I'm saying, So try
- 49:17Speaker 3: to do everything to the highest level. So this is
- 49:21Speaker 3: sponsor to you by level, just in case you're.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Saying, Yeah, I mean, like, how important is that because
- 49:28Speaker 2: a lot of times I feel like it's one thing
- 49:29Speaker 2: to just be a dope artist. But I feel like,
- 49:32Speaker 2: especially a lot of new artists, they're realizing that their
- 49:36Speaker 2: brand is growing outside of just music.
- 49:38Speaker 3: So yeah, for sure.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Or if it's you know, different you know, endorsement deals,
- 49:42Speaker 2: different things to that nature, Like, yeah, how important is
- 49:44Speaker 2: all the intangible?
- 49:46Speaker 4: Yeah for sure outside of just making music.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's a combination. It's a like I said, man,
- 49:50Speaker 3: this music game. Man, it's a real like thin line
- 49:54Speaker 3: because you gotta, you know, brand yourself well. But you
- 49:56Speaker 3: can't slutch yourself out either as an artist doing too
- 49:59Speaker 3: many brand deals because you corny. You know what I'm saying.
- 50:01Speaker 3: It look like you'll take any type of dollar, you
- 50:03Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I was making a joke when
- 50:06Speaker 3: this quarantine shit first started out, was like, hey, nigga,
- 50:08Speaker 3: don't judge me. Y'all see me doing swipe up stories.
- 50:10Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. But you can't just be
- 50:13Speaker 3: slutting out your brand to look like you're you know,
- 50:15Speaker 3: staying for something or fall for anything. You know, seem
- 50:18Speaker 3: like you'll do whatever to you know, just for the check.
- 50:21Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like high level that's on
- 50:23Speaker 3: one hundred percent by me. There's something I'm passionate about.
- 50:25Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying.
- 50:25Speaker 3: All my friends we all on that high level shit.
- 50:27Speaker 3: All my fans all on that high level shit. So
- 50:30Speaker 3: this is something that's like near and deep to my
- 50:32Speaker 3: heart and I own it. It's my shit. But I
- 50:35Speaker 3: also have a brand partnership with with Puma. You gel
- 50:38Speaker 3: what I'm saying. But there's somebody who's been supporting me
- 50:40Speaker 3: since day one. You gel what I'm saying, and it's somebody.
- 50:43Speaker 3: I used to wear Puma. I wore pumas to my
- 50:46Speaker 3: my middle school dance. You gel what I'm saying. And
- 50:48Speaker 3: we used to wear back in Maryland. You know, we
- 50:50Speaker 3: wore uniforms and shit. So Puma jackets was our way
- 50:55Speaker 3: of like expressing ourselves. Just it was like for one
- 50:57Speaker 3: year they was like super super dope. But yeah, Puma
- 51:01Speaker 3: is somebody we uh we the company is like very supportive.
- 51:06Speaker 3: We think like like minded ways. They support like all
- 51:08Speaker 3: my ideas and you know, whether it be financially or
- 51:13Speaker 3: in a lot of times, with Puma, I'm able to
- 51:14Speaker 3: like go back within my community and do like really
- 51:17Speaker 3: really dope ship. You get what I'm saying that you
- 51:19Speaker 3: won't hear niggas talk about a brag about, but like
- 51:22Speaker 3: really able to implement like some really cool ship to
- 51:25Speaker 3: help out a lot of people. And that's one of
- 51:27Speaker 3: the dope things about Puma is that they really like
- 51:30Speaker 3: supportive with like you know, giving back to uh the
- 51:32Speaker 3: community mine in particular, and like just really supportive of
- 51:36Speaker 3: my vision. Like I'm able to creative direct. I'm a
- 51:40Speaker 3: real like brand ambaster to like be a contract.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I'm just gonna get yet I don't have on today,
- 51:50Speaker 2: but I would I wear all the time.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Yeah for sure. But but but yeah, like I said,
- 51:57Speaker 3: there is just natural to me. I was wearing sways before.
- 52:00Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying, and they're real And what
- 52:04Speaker 3: was I saying before? Oh yeah, yea, yeah, Like I'm
- 52:06Speaker 3: like I'm literally a brand ambassador you know what I'm saying,
- 52:10Speaker 3: like in real not like the Yeah for sure, And
- 52:14Speaker 3: like with my sneaker, they give me royalties. You get
- 52:18Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like, yeah, like I literally get a
- 52:21Speaker 3: royalty rate on the shoe. You know what I'm saying.
- 52:23Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure it's on the way
- 52:27Speaker 3: for sure. But I'm able to creative direct all the
- 52:30Speaker 3: shoots that I'm in. You get what I'm saying, Like
- 52:33Speaker 3: I have like a position of power if you would,
- 52:36Speaker 3: I've spoken with the c oh of Puma. You get
- 52:38Speaker 3: what I'm saying. From Germany. You feel me and jet,
- 52:43Speaker 3: I've been on a Puma jet for real, they really
- 52:45Speaker 3: I had. I had like three shows and one day.
- 52:47Speaker 3: Matter of fact, back when everything was popping, I had
- 52:50Speaker 3: a show and I want to say Florida. Then I
- 52:53Speaker 3: had Complex Con. Then I had Dan Vegas all in
- 52:56Speaker 3: the same day, and Puma took the jet with me
- 52:58Speaker 3: and the homies Nigga.
- 52:59Speaker 2: All across Complex can when he was there the last
- 53:02Speaker 2: Complex car there was.
- 53:03Speaker 3: I was in and out yea long beach. I was
- 53:05Speaker 3: in and out ye Complex Yeah. Yeah, I was in
- 53:08Speaker 3: and out for Complex Cons and I had to fly
- 53:11Speaker 3: day for day in Vegas. You know what I'm saying,
- 53:13Speaker 3: at eight pm that day, So you know, they let
- 53:15Speaker 3: me the Puma jet. You know what I'm saying. So
- 53:17Speaker 3: for real, good folks at Puma, the good folks at Puma,
- 53:20Speaker 3: for real, they really be fucking with a niggas, you
- 53:22Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So yeah, and I did, like, uh,
- 53:26Speaker 3: it's some like I try not. Like I was saying,
- 53:30Speaker 3: this is a fine balance between like having brands because
- 53:33Speaker 3: that also increases like your visibility. You know what I'm saying.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Puma has me. I'm like literally like damn near the
- 53:38Speaker 3: face of Puma. You gel what I'm saying. Like, and
- 53:40Speaker 3: I've been they've been rocking with me, like for the
- 53:42Speaker 3: last three years, three four years, and they have me
- 53:45Speaker 3: in fucking bill I always get family members and niggas
- 53:48Speaker 3: texting me, like with a picture of me and a
- 53:49Speaker 3: Puma billboard, big ass billboard, like somewhere in the city
- 53:53Speaker 3: or in a foot lock Champion of foot action. You
- 53:56Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. That helps my brand visibility. You
- 53:58Speaker 3: get what I'm saying. So it's like a mutual thing.
- 54:00Speaker 3: And I helped them sell sneakers one but have them
- 54:04Speaker 3: relevant in pop culture and music culture, you know what
- 54:08Speaker 3: I'm saying, and the culture, so it's an equal you know,
- 54:11Speaker 3: partnership in it with that situation for you or who
- 54:16Speaker 3: oh yeah yeah Emory Yeah yeah, No he wasn't, but
- 54:18Speaker 3: I'm I'm yeah, yeah, very close. I met him a
- 54:20Speaker 3: couple of times. Shout out to o g Emory, shout
- 54:22Speaker 3: out to bigs. They all like, you know what I'm.
- 54:24Speaker 6: Saying, in charge of the basketball.
- 54:27Speaker 3: I mean, I don't shout to Jay. Yeah, yeah, shout
- 54:29Speaker 3: them for sure.
- 54:30Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, Yeah.
- 54:32Speaker 2: I was gonna ask you as far as so investing.
- 54:36Speaker 2: You said that you started investing during the pandemic, at
- 54:39Speaker 2: the end of the pandemic. Yeah, so can you talk
- 54:41Speaker 2: about that? What got you into investing and how has
- 54:45Speaker 2: that going for you?
- 54:46Speaker 3: Yeah? So it was around March obviously when the pandemic
- 54:50Speaker 3: verse started and I noticed the dal Jones was under
- 54:53Speaker 3: nineteen thousand and like we talked about earlier, I always
- 54:56Speaker 3: been stacking, Brad forever. You know what I'm saying, I've
- 54:58Speaker 3: been I probably saved like eighty cent of my income,
- 55:01Speaker 3: but I noticed, not even I noticed. I felt like
- 55:04Speaker 3: I was just not even felt like I was just
- 55:06Speaker 3: extremely liquid at the time. You get what I'm saying.
- 55:08Speaker 3: I just had a bunch of money just sitting in
- 55:10Speaker 3: a savings account, for sure, and you got to have
- 55:13Speaker 3: your money work for you know. My stepdad was telling
- 55:15Speaker 3: me that, And so I entered in this blessed as
- 55:19Speaker 3: position to where I just happened to have an access
- 55:21Speaker 3: of Hella capital. You know what I'm saying, to really
- 55:23Speaker 3: make work for me. You get what I'm saying. So
- 55:25Speaker 3: I entered the stock market. So I bought Apple, and
- 55:28Speaker 3: this is last March, and it was dirt cheap, it
- 55:31Speaker 3: was under nineteen thousand. So I bought Apple. I bought Neo,
- 55:35Speaker 3: which is like the Chinese Tesla. When it was like
- 55:37Speaker 3: at five dollars a share, I ran up to sixty Yes, Sirski,
- 55:43Speaker 3: I feel me got out of there too, thousand percent.
- 55:47Speaker 3: But let me see, I bought app for sure, so welcome,
- 55:52Speaker 3: appreciate it, appreciate it. I bought Apple, I bought Neo,
- 55:57Speaker 3: this regular shit too, like I bought Dizzy n I
- 56:01Speaker 3: bought let me pull up money, just so it's an
- 56:06Speaker 3: accurate thing. You know, you got to share the knowledge,
- 56:09Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Like that, it's like we
- 56:12Speaker 3: have access We're in an information agent, so we have access,
- 56:15Speaker 3: and one of the beautiful things about being in a
- 56:17Speaker 3: position of power, we have to share this access of
- 56:20Speaker 3: knowledge and information because, like I said, I still don't
- 56:23Speaker 3: have all the answers. You know what I'm saying, I
- 56:24Speaker 3: don't have nowhere near close. And I'll never pretend like
- 56:27Speaker 3: I do. I'll be the first to say if I
- 56:29Speaker 3: know some ship like Nigga, I do not know, like please, Okay.
- 56:32Speaker 3: So I got Apple, I got Airbnb, I got Delta
- 56:35Speaker 3: and these. I bought all of this in March because
- 56:38Speaker 3: I wasn't doing like the day trade thing because I'm
- 56:40Speaker 3: like playing with like a large amount of bread. So
- 56:42Speaker 3: I'm just looking on like long term. You know what
- 56:45Speaker 3: I'm saying, this bajo long term. So I got Apple, Airbnb,
- 56:50Speaker 3: I got Delta. I just bought Airbnb. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 56:55Speaker 3: yeah yeah yeah. Come on the show Disney Neo Royal
- 56:59Speaker 3: Career being snowflake Tesla Uber. I just bought Zilos, Zilo Bend.
- 57:07Speaker 3: I just bought Uber and Zillow. Both of them been
- 57:09Speaker 3: kicking my ass. And then I have another one hold
- 57:13Speaker 3: one Lockheed martin Walmart, like you know, just the regular
- 57:20Speaker 3: blue chip stocks. I got a bunch of those. It's
- 57:22Speaker 3: just like all paid dividends all you know what I'm saying,
- 57:25Speaker 3: like the slow you know what I'm saying, like really
- 57:29Speaker 3: for really living it.
- 57:31Speaker 6: I love it.
- 57:31Speaker 4: So what made That's a nice portfolio, by the way.
- 57:34Speaker 3: I got I got a bunch. I got like thirty
- 57:35Speaker 3: more to just in case. But it's it's all like
- 57:39Speaker 3: Lockheed Martin ups lows type of you know what I'm saying,
- 57:44Speaker 3: just the blue home depots, the blue chip all paid
- 57:47Speaker 3: dividends just gradually build up, but also got blink to one.
- 57:53Speaker 4: Sounds like you got one already, you know in ets.
- 57:56Speaker 3: Nah. Also, you know I fucked up on not even
- 57:59Speaker 3: fucked up. I'm missed out on bitcoin because I wasn't
- 58:02Speaker 3: this nigga. RODDI Rich told me. I tell you, nigga,
- 58:05Speaker 3: he told me about bitcoin in July, like last July.
- 58:08Speaker 3: I want to say. It was like at four thousand
- 58:10Speaker 3: or two thousand at the time, but I wasn't knowledgeable
- 58:13Speaker 3: in it within myself. So I'm like, I'm gonna stick
- 58:14Speaker 3: to what I know. You know what I'm saying. I
- 58:16Speaker 3: know the blue chip stocks, and I know like the
- 58:18Speaker 3: apples and the Tesla's and the NEOs and the Royal
- 58:21Speaker 3: Caribbeans because I was just like, I know all like
- 58:23Speaker 3: the cruise lines, it is dry. It was I thought
- 58:26Speaker 3: Royal Caribbean at like thirty dollars, and I was like,
- 58:28Speaker 3: I know that shit's gonna go back up. I know
- 58:30Speaker 3: all these airline stocks is going to go back up.
- 58:33Speaker 3: I know Apple ain't going nowhere, Tesla, you know all
- 58:36Speaker 3: of these things, and obviously the blue chip stocks and
- 58:38Speaker 3: also a lot into the cloud if that makes sense. Yeah, yeah,
- 58:43Speaker 3: I had Rocket for a little bit. But yeah, yeah, like.
- 58:46Speaker 6: The number one in America.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, what made him?
- 58:50Speaker 2: What do you tell you about? But he just like
- 58:51Speaker 2: just get in bitcoin, Like, oh, I'm investing in bitcoin.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, he told me about it like super early.
- 58:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Man, So shout out to that nigga.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Man that's at y'all having that conversation though, because I
- 59:01Speaker 2: even a it's you know, it's like a dominant fact
- 59:05Speaker 2: because I had him on a breakfast club when he
- 59:07Speaker 2: said Meek Mill told him like saving money and money
- 59:10Speaker 2: and save you. Yeah, and so like meek Mill gave
- 59:12Speaker 2: him some financial advice and then he gave you some
- 59:15Speaker 2: financial advice.
- 59:16Speaker 3: Yeah, just spreading the saying I told him about Neo
- 59:18Speaker 3: the same day. You know what I'm saying, just spreading up.
- 59:20Speaker 3: I dy k too. I don't know if y'all know
- 59:22Speaker 3: who that is. He's like very knowledgeable within like financial literacy.
- 59:26Speaker 3: So it's like we all. The way I look at
- 59:29Speaker 3: it is like fuck a song, you know what I'm saying,
- 59:31Speaker 3: Like this song, this music shit is all cool. But
- 59:34Speaker 3: in the bigger picture, we all young brothers in a
- 59:37Speaker 3: position of power who are in this blessed position to
- 59:41Speaker 3: have access to capital and cash to where we gotta
- 59:43Speaker 3: spread this information and this knowledge we have. Like, Yo, nigga,
- 59:47Speaker 3: I got this uh opportunity for the pre IPO and
- 59:50Speaker 3: Robin hood. Bro, you should get in it. I got
- 59:52Speaker 3: this pre ip opportunity in zilch Man. You should get
- 59:55Speaker 3: these all real life shit by the way, but like, yo,
- 59:58Speaker 3: you should get into this. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: No for real.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: So now, so how did you learn? You said your
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: step Your stepdad.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Was yeah, yeah, yeah, he got he told me. He Now,
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: he just told me I should just look into it.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying, Like he just told me,
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: like essential he might have, but he just told me, like,
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: you know, just to get into it. It's something so
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: shout out to step Pops and and also too, uh.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: I first started buying stocks on cash at before. I
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: was like playing with like my savings, you know what
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I'm saying, with like a big ass sum of money.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: I was playing with that a little bit and I
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: was like, oh, this is kind of like like really dope,
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: you geel what I'm saying. And then yeah, and then
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: when my step Pops told me about it too, he
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: told me about Neo. He specifically told me about Neo,
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: and I got into that and every time they should
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: go up, I call that nigga, Like, yo, nigga, you
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like for real.
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: I invested in it.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Well, actually I didn't pull the trigger actually, and by
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: somebody to pull the trigger.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: I got in Zoom early too. Zoom was a good one.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: So so you buying a whole whole holding them.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Yeah, holding them all along. I'm Neo is gonna be
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: like one hundred dollars. Stop when Neo go to one
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: hundred dollars should sometimes after a year in the day,
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: which has recently been I share a little bit because
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: you know, yeah, long term personal. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: You feel me, I really do this ship in real life,
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: and you know, I just felt like that's why I
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: wanted to do this with y'all, because I just felt
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: like I just gained so much knowledge in the last
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: year in which has been a blessing within quarantine because
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: I'm just I'm doing shows, you know. I was on
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: the road doing shows every day, booked, you know, and
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: it's a blessing. I can't wait to get back on
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: the road either, because I love that ship. But I
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: was just doing shows, got so much going on. But
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: when this quarantine popped off, everything stopped and I had
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: to be like, oh, let me like like get my
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: business acumen to the level it needs to be at.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Let me high level came about. You get what I'm saying, Like,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: for real, how can I tell these young kids? And
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: you know, because when I'm on tour, I always speak
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: to like I go to like the local high schools,
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: local middle school is just to talk to kids, you
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like I said, each one, teach one,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: and I was like, how can I talk to these
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: kids about ownership when I'm not a majority owner of
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: some dope, shit you geel what I'm saying. So I
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: had to get my business acumen to the level it
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: needed to be because, like I said, I've always been
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: good with saving money with money management. But I'm like,
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: y'all got to invest this bread versus having all this money,
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: millions of dollars just sitting in the savings account. No,
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: let me invest some of these millions within these different
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: tangible assets that you know I can that I'm not
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: even looking at. That's just money that I'm just like
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: put it away, don't even think about it, you gel
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like, and it's just growing like into
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: real estate. Bought my first real estate properties, you gel
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: what I'm saying. For sure, just you know, just down
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Southhomore so because it's a lot cheaper, you know, and yeah,
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: just getting into real estate, getting into you know, stocks
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: and bonds. I got a good amount of bonds. California
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: and New York got the best bonds. And for sure
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: the way al ry you know what I'm saying, ilra
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: every year fifty five thousand a year. You know what
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: I'm saying this stuff, which is you know, just to
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: write it off, you know, bl.
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: Going yo, you're gonna be an extremely wealthy man.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: For sure. Appreciate it. I received that for sure, had
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: no for sure, not for real because I really, like,
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: like I said, I always been God with saving money.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: But I was like, y'all, I gotta have this money
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: work for me because, like I said, the blessing of
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: the quarantine, I really had to get my business acumen
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: to the level to where it needed to be at
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: to where I have this money just okay, I got
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: this working, these stocks over here working, uh, these municipal
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: bonds working. I got this real estate over here work.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: And I got this company, this branding just overall, with
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: my entire branding, I had to like really like sit down, wosah,
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: because when you're on the road and you like release
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: the music my because I'm a workaholic, all I do
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: is record music. I ain't go a single day throughout
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: this pandemic without writing a song, this entire pandemic road
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: music every single day. And I was like that, especially
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: on the road. I do a show late at night,
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: and then as soon as I lead show, do my
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: meet and greets, boom this record. And you know, I
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: was just on auto pilot essentially, dysfunctioned off all of
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: part of a machine, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: really just doing shows after the show record boom boom
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: boom is knocking it out. So where like I said,
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: it's quarantine, been able to take a deep breath and
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: really get my business uh sorted out to the level
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: it needed to, because my shit wasn't fucked up, but
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: it wasn't high level, you know what I'm saying. It
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: wasn't for sure, It wasn't you know what I'm saying invertually,
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: it wasn't high level for real. So I had to
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: sit down rewrite my goals because out of my first
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: like manifest book and vision board, I accomplished a good
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: amount of that, you know, within these last three years,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, these last two years, and
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: I thank God, and I thank Him in advance for
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: what's about to come. I still ain't done nothing yet
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: in the grand scheme of things. For what I'm about
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: to do, you know what I'm saying, really about to
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: go legend out here for real, and I just really
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: had to, you know, just rewrite down my goals, rewrite
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: down what I want to do and what I really
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: went out of this music thing, and how I can
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: really by the next generation, and just thinking about, like
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: I said, my catalog and my legacy, what do I
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: really want to be remembered as. And I always had
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: these things in my mind, but I just had to
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: just really like just sit down and formulate it, plot playing,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: write it down in my journals, in my vision note book.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: I got where you go. In my house, I got
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: fucking like motivational quotes literally everywhere. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: I hired an assistant. I didn't have an assistant until
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: the beginning, you know what I'm saying of a pandemic. Yeah,
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: for sure, you know, because I was just like just
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: saving bread, you know what I'm saying. When I realized,
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: like an assistant can help my personal life to where
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I don't have to worry about certain things.
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: That's crazy that you just said the word worry, Because
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: as you're talking, I'm thinking about the fact that the
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: pandemic has.
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: Had on you.
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: It's almost helped you become a little bit of therapeutic
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: because even through the Lost Void the album, I hear
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: anxiety a lot through the lyrics. And you said earlier
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: antisocial and so has that the pandemic has helped you
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: deal with.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Those things anti social. I'm even more now it's about
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: me to leave the house because I got Yeah, I
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: got the studio in the crib. We can do August
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: twenty sixth.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: So you're what is that.
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: Right before that?
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: We are the best. We got Mike, we got Michael Jackson,
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: we got Beyonce, we got Kobe, we got nas with
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Swiss like me, you know what I mean, not to
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: put myself in that category of them by level respect
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: they all level extremely the highest level, highest level all show.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: But but yeah, man, just shout out to all the
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: virgos out there, you know.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: But then what was we talking anti social? Because no, no, no,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: I open up if you're comfortable.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Yeah, not even I don't even want to use the
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: word anti social. Get shout out that nigarati. But I
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: don't want to use the word anti social. But I'm
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: just very to myself, you know what I'm saying, like, yeah,
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: reserve and more reclusive if anything.
- 1:06:58Speaker 6: You know, I don't really you said the past ye
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: turns you to extreme clues.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: For sure, Like I'm not like I'm not with the
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: fake kicking it especially within this industry, this entertainment industry.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: I don't even want to say just music industry, just
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: within entertainment. It's just a lot of fake kicking that
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: we call networking. You know what I'm saying. But I
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: just really fuck with like minded individuals, you know what
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like Anderson Pact. That's like people you see
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: me do music with. That's like a real homie of mind.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like I got like I
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: love that nigga. You know what I'm saying, that's really
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: like my big bro, Like he been fucking with me
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: since like the very beginning. You know what. He took
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: a chance when we did that R and P. You
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like not a big one. We
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: got a platform. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: I mean now, but debut.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: For sure, the debut. Appreciate it. Y'all said it now,
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: y'all said winning the next one.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: Big fact for real.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: But and I always that's how high level came about,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: because I say that ship so fucking much bro Like,
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: especially now, I was like, yo, man, that's a fucking
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: high level man, somebody. You know what I'm saying, Yo,
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: that is not high level, bro. So you know what
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I'm saying like that ain't no.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: High level because I was saying that before, like you know,
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: like I used to play basketball.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and just you know my coach that used to
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: be like how much your niggas getting paid for one
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: go to the next, But I like the diverse from
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: one go to the next, my bag. You'll can clip
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: that out Jerry Rice, Oh for real.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Yeah, this is his energy drink that's made with mushrooms.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: That's a commercial. Yeah, that's a commercial. Mike, cut the check.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: Call the people over there, Call the people over there.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: But my coach used to always say, like, no matter
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: what you're going through in life, whatever you got girl problems,
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: you got family problems, you gotta perform at a high level.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: For Surebody give a funk about what you got going
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: on in life. And that's the sad reality. Were not
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: avet Us as a society. We're not very compassionate. We
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: have no empathy, we have no compassion myself, not myself
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: and sometimes no, no, no, no, I'm gonna be real
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: like all I can be is myself. Bro. You know
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: what I'm saying, I'm not here to be anybody else.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: All I can. Nobody can be you better than you,
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: Nobody can be Cordat better than me. You get what
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: I'm saying. So I'm not ever gonna fake the funk.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: I'm just gonna be myself unapologetically. Bro. You don't you
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: don't like it, fast forward, you fuck with it. Love,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: I love you like my mother gave birthy. You know
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: what I'm saying. But yeah, us as a society, and
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: like I said, sometimes I can be not as compassionate.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: I'm passionate, but sometimes I can be a little more compassionate.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: I can show a little more empathy. I have empathy
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: for fellow man and for humans, for us, you know,
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: brother sisters. You know what I'm saying. But I can
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: be whatever. I'm not even about to go down. You
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: get them.
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: This is one of my favorite quotes. Common said it,
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: but it's in the Bible as well. Knowing when you're weak,
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: when you're really being strung. And so if you know
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: your flaws, then you know what you need to work on.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: So take credit for that.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: Yeah for sure.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: Being aware of that concert or that is powerful.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah for sure. And I don't want niggas to
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: think I'm not empathetic. I'm very, but I'm very What
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: I'm saying is, I'm I'm compassionate, empathetic, but I can
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: be a lot more and extremely us as a society,
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: we are extremely unempathetic, not compassionate, because it's just all
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: of this shit going on. You get what I'm saying,
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: Like back to what we were saying, like, nobody give
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: a fuck about what you got going on at home,
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: what you got going on in your brain, your mental issue.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: It's it's an unfortunate reality. People don't give a fuck.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: You still gotta work, for sure. It's the harsh reality
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: of life. Nobody cares that much. Nobody cares as much
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: as you think they do.
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: Show up the.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Show, show up and do your job at the highest level.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: You know. That's it.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: That's a fact. One thing. Also, you're very vulnerable in
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: your music.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: I feel like all great artists and hip hop, whether
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: it's eminem whether it's not, or it's DMX rest in
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Peace Therapy, they always say.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: What's going on in their life.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: A lot of people resonated with that.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know you have been.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Very vocal about you, you know, with pills. Yeah, and
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: can you talk about that as far as like, why
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: is that important for you to say that? And what's
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: that message to the to younger people, because obviously that's
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: been a huge issue not just our community but all
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: over the world. Noah, for sure in your generation specifically,
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: So why was that important for you to really put
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: that out there?
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Yet? Just because music is like my therapy more than anything,
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: like even this next album, I feel like I'm pretty
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: vulnerable and sometimes i'd be like, man, but I too
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: real in that line, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: I do, and it's like a real thing when you
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: put like your heart and your soul. And that's why
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: I'm so passionate and I'm who's I think Erkabad. I'm
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: a real artist and I'm sensitive about my shit, you
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, because it's like, imagine, it's putting
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: all your heart and soul, man, to this this body
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: of work into this music that you spent so much time,
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: and you're putting all of these vulnerable things about yourself,
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, a lot of times you
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: won't even speak upon it until through the music, that's
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: your outlet to speak for the world to judge. You
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, it's a real thing, and it's
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: no complaint, no woe was me, But it's like a
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: real thing. It's some scary ass shit bro putting like
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: your life and your deepest and your darkest, most vulnerable,
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: most uh you know, most vulnerable transparent feelings within the music.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: But as an artist, it's our job, you know, artists,
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: we are the gatekeepers of time. You know what I'm saying. People,
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: you remember moments, seeing very important moments in your life
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: based off the music. You know what I'm saying, that
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: was playing during that time. I remember ninth grade, good kid,
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Mad City came out, you know what I'm saying, and
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: I related to that because I was the same shit
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: being from Suitland, I was. I was a good kid,
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. But my homies is really
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: on some foul you know, chanky on in real life,
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: slim for real, jangsters for real. I never used that before, janksters,
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: that's funny, but yeah, movement, yeah for sure, having a
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: being able to maneuver in that environment, you know what
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: I'm saying. And like I said, it's always important as
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: an artist to express yourself in your freest, most creative,
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: most vulnerable, most transparent way, because people that's the easiest
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: way to connect. You know, if you're saying some ship
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: that ain't you, niggas can't hit niggas and see that ship.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying for that too, because like
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: I said, just putting that message out there that you know,
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: that's something that you did, but you're not glorifying it.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: Yeah at all.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: And it's like a lot of people can learn from that.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: I feel like people don't really give artists enough credit
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: when it comes to that because it's like even me personally,
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: I go through stuff.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: Even my mom won't know like.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: For sure, definitely till the music come out. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: I'm saying that. Till the music come out.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Look, I ain't telling nobody like you know what I'm saying.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: But it's like artists they.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Telling you don't heard by that word, be like that
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: nobody funcked you like you think they do that. It's
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: real life and real shit. It's real. It's a harsh reality.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: Like it's like artists. I feel like, man, so many
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: artists be like so like I don't know because I'm
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: not holy it than down like I said, And then grands.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: Before I say anything, I'll be like, I'm not holy
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: it in down and in the grand scheme of things.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: I don't know shit and I'm still learning. And I'll
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: be the first to say that. But I feel like
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: a lot of artists, man, I don't know because it's
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: like I don't know. It's a weird balance. What was
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: you about to say?
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: And I was going to say, it's just it takes
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: a lot of courage to tell millions because really it's
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: like you can find and it's like usher that confession's LP,
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Like that's soundtrack to life music. Like for sure, he's
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: telling his deepest, darkest emotion secrets to twenty million people.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: And sold twenty million records. Like that's a hard copy CDs,
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: not stream equivalent.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: I don't think people realize how tough it is.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: I love that album to shout out the album that joint, man,
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: I really like, is it eighty seven O one? That's
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: the one before I love know what I'm saying. The
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: one before that. I was just make sure that was
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: the right numerica. That's my ship, Like you mind me?
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: Like my folks got old. I ain't gonna get into it,
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: but like my folks got old video of me singing
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: like into a fucking flash, like like that album.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: I question your guy, big put you on the spot, okay,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: versus versus Chris Brown.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Oh that's your guy, Yeah, Chris, that's that's my nigga.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: I don't know, bro, because Chris Brown got some classes
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: to a million. I gotta honestly, I can't give a
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: solid answer without writing down the joint.
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: Make it a little bit easier. What's Chris Brown's classic album?
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: The first one?
- 1:15:42Speaker 6: You think that's a classic for sure, it's a great album.
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: Oh, I like the Fame album me personally, this is
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: all personal opinion. The Fame album was like really dope,
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like that joint got some
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: incredible songs.
- 1:15:58Speaker 6: If he just plays.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: But also, you got, bro, Chris Brown is still like
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: twenty nine, Bro, he still got a legend and already
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: a bro. He got co signed by Michael Jackson, bro
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: and real since he's a I don't think we give
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: him like his flowers. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: But that's not a good comparison what you just did,
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: because that's like saying, all right.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: You could the album. You could say like ell Madic.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: Is arguably the best album ever, even though we think
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: it was written was better. But Drake got a hundred songs. Songs.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not denying now, I'm just saying.
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: I'm just saying difficult for any legendary territories, you gotta
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: have a classic.
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Album.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: What's Drake's classic album?
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: Some people say, take care. I think Nothing was the
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: same as his best.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: You think so? I like, Nothing was the same. That's Drake.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: If you're reading this, it's too late.
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: That's that's a good one too.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: Nah. That was that came out my senior year, so
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: I remember like listening to that jont faithfully, but Nothing
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: was the same.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: That's my favorite.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Coming off the last record. Like you know what I'm
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: saying that Tuskan Lether jonesesy.
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: Some people say so far go the mixtape.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's all like it's a subjective music. I never
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: like to speak about other artists art publicly because it's
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: all subjective. You know what I'm saying, And there is
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: no right or wrong answer, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: That's why I can't give you an usher versus Chris Brown.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: I'm not trying to be politically correct. Fuck that ship.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: But I just like I can't you know what I'm saying.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: I'm huge. I'm one of the biggest Chris Brown fans.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: You'll find. Same with Usher and I, like I said,
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: I have to really sit down and write it, you
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Shot the Swiss man. That's what they put together.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Man, Now it's incredible. Swiss beats one of the ones too,
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Like just like you know, behind the scenes, he's one
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: of my mentors as well as for sure, like yeah.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: Shout to him and let me ask you about the
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: real estate situation. So the stocks you went over your stocks?
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: Who got you in the real estate?
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: The same principle, Like just really it was just like
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: it was all it was all one day, bro, it
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: was just one day. It was not for real. It
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: was a super productive day. Like it's a real dog.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: I just was super productive, dog, Like I turned my
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: house into a factory on some real shit. My boy
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: Ian be doing the clothes and get because I'm like, bro,
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: my merch gotta be better, man. I got to make
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: better high level merch for real dog. And so I
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: bought like we got like downstairs. I really turned my
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: house into an entire office and dash business thing. You
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I got I got two studios.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: I got one upstairs, I got one downstairs. I got
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: to sew a machine to my boy to work on
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: this ship. You know what I'm saying. We got the
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: kitchen is the fucking office, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: where we're just talking about creative dope ideas and things
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: of that nature. And so I became I made my
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: house a factory, and I became like a person, like
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: a real machine, you know what I'm saying. So it
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: was like a very productive valve. I got the stocks,
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: I gotta get bonds. I got to set up this IRA,
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: and I gotta get some real estate.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: Dog.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: Real estate took a little longer because you know it's yeah,
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: for sure, I got to find the right property, something
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: that you like, that you believe in. Gotta find. You know,
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: my mom is working on getting her real estate license
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: right now because I'm buying so many properties. I need
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: my mom to you know, be getting that Yeah, get
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: that property man exactly.
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: So that's dope.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: You we talked about one more thing.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: Go ahead, it's social activism, Okay, because I think people
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: missed that. Yeah, and at twenty three, it's extremely impressive.
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: Appreciate you were in Kentucky. Yeah for the Breonna Taylor situation.
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: Well what compels you when inspired you to speak up
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: and be a voice and be a presence.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: It's funny you mentioned I just got that felony dismissed yesterday.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: I got a whole I had a whole felony for that.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: Like I had a felony with that, Yeah, for trying no,
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: not for threatening an official like a because it was
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: outside of the governor something like that. Yeah house and
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: now the Attorney General House. And so they like I
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: had all eighty of us, all eighty seven of us,
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: Like they gave us all felonies, bro, which is fucking crazy. Dog.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: But you know, shout out to Mika Mallory uh until freedom.
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: They're all she's like a leader in this time, you
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, much needed leader and she has
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: you know, she's really compassionate about it. She's been doing this.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: It's crazy, man. I not knew her, but I met
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: her before when I was like eighteen years old. It
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: was like during the Filando Castile. So fucked up with
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: so many eras of niggas getting killed by the police,
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. But it was like around
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: Michael Brown Filando Castile, But this was at a protest
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: for Colin Kaepernick. Actually shout out my boy Colin Kaepernick,
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: because he actually recommended me this financial advisor, Peter Barowski
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: to handle like my extreme hot you know what I'm saying,
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: like the trust, Yeah, yeah, exactly, So Colin Kaepernick actually
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: recommended him to me, you know what I'm saying, So
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: shout out my boy Cap. But I met her at
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: a protest for Kaepernick like five years ago when I
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: was in high school, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: it's really crazy how that came to be like a
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: full circle moment. But as as you know, it's always
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: been something that's been a part of me, you know
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: what I'm saying. Like I always I was like ten
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: years old reading Huey P. Knew and reading Revolutionary Suicide.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: I read Wretched of the Earth. I was like young
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: reading books on third Good Marshall, W. E. B. Duboy,
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: you know, d Boys, whichever however you said. But but yeah,
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: it's just something that's always just been embedded like within
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: my DNA, And the only difference is now I just
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: have a platform, you know what I'm saying. And but
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: but yeah, bro, I feel like as artists it's all responsibility,
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: you know, and whatever feels It's like I think Kyrie
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Irvan's a real like like had Honcho what it called,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: like a real spearhead. More so when it comes to
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: like activism and and being he's a he's an artist.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: I look at artists, respect artists. You know what I'm saying, Well,
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: how he handle that rock and the jump shot? Like basketball?
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: Niggas is artists for real, you know, especially that nigga
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: in particular special on the court, off the court, way
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: of thinking, mind, freedom to express himself, don't care what
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: no one thinks. You know what I'm saying, He's the one.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: And when it comes to that, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: But Kyrie, but yeah, as artists, And I say all
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: that to say as artists because like I said, I
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: consider him an artist. It's our job. We already gate
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: keepers of time and it is our job to express
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: the things that are going on, whether it be music
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: through or in real life situations. You know what I'm
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: saying like and only if it's something that you're actually
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: compassionate about, don't do it because it's the cool shit
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: to do, you know what I'm saying, or it's like
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: politically correct that shit lame, you know what I'm saying, niggas.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: It's a lot of fake believers make believers out there,
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, and just doing it just
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: for but like, this is something I've always been compassionate about,
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. And uh, the only like
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: I said, some I've always been doing like I was
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: at protest with Mike Brown Filando Castill, you know, as
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: a as a kid. You know what I'm saying, like
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: going out and doing it on my own. You feel
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: what I'm saying and watching, Yeah, for sure. And the
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: only difference is now just have a platform, you know.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: And yeah, man, you had just dropped that felony though, dog,
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: congrats on that. I appreciate it.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: In fact, man, Nah, I really enjoyed this conversation now
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: is Yeah, this is one of my most enjoyable conversations.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: May you have a bright future ahead of you, man,
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: extremely extremely smart young man. I mean music, I feel
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: like that's just gonna be one of the things you're
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: known for when it's all said and done, like show
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: me like you have such so many different things that's
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: ahead of you.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: So appreciate it.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Keep up the great work, man, and more importantly, keep
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: keep educating. Keep because I feel like you're a leader
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: and the message that you're putting out there, especially like
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: on the financial literacy side since we're business podcast, it
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: is much needed.
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: It's much needed.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: Nah, definitely, and it's dope. Yeah, now we gotta man,
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: we gotta collectively, we gotta do this again, Yeah for sure,
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: but to like, yeah, we definitely gotta do this. I
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: was thinking about an idea. I had an idea, but
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: it wasn't all the way like flushed out yet. So
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: I want to present it when it's like a fully
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: high level, flushed out idea.
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: Yeah I heard you heard you bad idea.
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: That's all so Telle.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: What would you like to tell the people with some
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: words of encouragement or wisdom or just like, you got
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: a project coming out?
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: Yeah, what's that? I forgot about that? Yeah? A lot
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: of music? Yeah yeah, right right right, but yeah, just
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: so I won't even call it the project, just a
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: little four pack called just until essentially like just until
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: I'm done with this next album. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: So this is a collection of high level Lucy's or
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: just you know, I level songs that didn't make that
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: that just didn't correlate to feel with the album. And
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: you got q Thug Yeah for shore. Q Tip shout
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: out Q Tip one of my mentors. For real, I
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: got it. I got a lot of dope mentors within
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: this hip hop ship. Yeah, no, for sure, but man,
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: it's like it's a blessing. I don't take any of
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: it for granted, bro, because it's it's a blessing. Man,
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: I dreamed about this ship. I'm living my dream and
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: I'm just gonna continue to live my dream at the
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: highest level and keep going to I'm all the way
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: at the top and I won't stop. I'm relentless with
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: this ship, you know what I'm saying. But yes, A
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: slime Is is also like the one for real a
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: real nigga at the highest level.
- 1:25:38Speaker 6: Dougga Jackson, he is for real, for real.
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: I don't think he get his credit challenge, no, no, no,
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: for sure, I don't think he get his credit as
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: far as his influence man. He but I told him
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: this personally to and I said, right now, he belongs
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: in the rock and roll Hall of Fame a million percent.
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: He if he stopped making music today, if Young Thug
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: stopped making music today, he should be in the rock.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: I'm already a legend if I ever leave for real.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: That was card two. That was in the card too.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: He said that, yep, so you can. You could compare
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Young Thugs right now to like Little Wayne's card, like
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: where he was at, Where Little Wayne was at in
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: the card two.
- 1:26:13Speaker 6: That was my only thing with the was the litl
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: Wayne thing like that. He came on and I.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: Think they were that, but you know, I was young,
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: I was playing a major part. And he's been a culture.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: A million percents. And yeah, you you asked most of
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: new artists who their favorite artists was, Horn spot them,
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: They're gonna say Thug in future A million percent, futures
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: another one, future is another one eight number one albums,
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: Yeah you know, and and even more importantly that his
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: influence and future be dropping them gyms as far as
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: financial literacy and knowing how to move within the game is.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: While I was watching one of his interviews, with one
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: of the like Atlanta local radio stations, and that nigga
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: be dropping them gems for real all the time. Same
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: same with Slime, Like same with Thug. He always dropped.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: Language too, But we got linked with both of those gentlemen. Yeah,
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: shout a little bit. I feel like when I'm listening
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: to you a little baby, and he's like, I'm not
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: a goal, but I fit the description.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: I feel like you fit the description of future.
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: I appreciate that. Say I ain't make a hundred million,
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: I can chill.
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: Yet he's another one.
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: Not really noting. I met him like a couple of
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: times in passing, but I don't know.
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: He's happy with the financial literacy the little baby.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Now it's it's an artist. And like I was saying before,
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: like what's even more powerful than niggas doing songs together?
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying that that's that's dope too.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: That's cool too. But just like us as all young brothers,
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: just having access to the information and capital to really
