- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Very well, I've arrived at my objective opinion.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: This is one of the most amateur, half-made, odious pieces of a fluvium ever to watch television.
- 0:14SPEAKER_10: Hey, it's cousin Larry.
- 0:16SPEAKER_10: You're listening to the O'Brien and Doug podcast brought to you in part by MoserMultimedia.com.
- 0:24SPEAKER_09: And the late runner in Westfield.
- 0:27SPEAKER_10: And me, Doug's cousin and his mom's favorite nephew, Larry.
- 0:32SPEAKER_10: Hello, guys.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: Welcome better to the O Brian and Doug podcast.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: I'm O'Brien.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: I'm Doug.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: It's uh episode 208.
- 0:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 0:47SPEAKER_12: That was a pause for effect.
- 0:49SPEAKER_12: No, it was just That was 208.
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: Um so let's talk about our syndicate rehearsal the other day.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: That's basically what it was.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: Pretty much.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: That was an odd gig.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: No, it wasn't a bad gig.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: It was just odd, don't you think?
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, odd's a good word.
- 1:11SPEAKER_12: Odd's a good word.
- 1:12SPEAKER_12: Um I don't think it was like it's like we had a practice and we invited people to come and eat food.
- 1:19SPEAKER_12: Well, here's what I think.
- 1:20SPEAKER_12: And ignore us.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: Here's what I think happened.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: I think um it was well intentioned, obviously.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: I think what happened was um, and I don't know if we're I don't think we're tooting our own horn by saying the Star City Syndicate is the most popular band in this area.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: I think that's true.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: Don't you?
- 1:41SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I do.
- 1:42SPEAKER_12: Among a certain demographic, yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, I'm I mean, I I think uh you say this say the Star City Syndicate, people know who you're talking about.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: Um so I think this organization that hired us, because it was the organization's 100th anniversary, and I think they wanted to get the best for their employees, because it was an employee picnic, essentially, is what we were playing for.
- 2:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: They wanted to get the best entertainment for their employees.
- 2:10SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 2:11SPEAKER_12: Uh that's no that's no doubt.
- 2:13SPEAKER_12: Because I mean there were bouncy houses for the kids, and there were food trucks, and there were door prizes, even though there was no doors.
- 2:22SPEAKER_12: Um They spared no expense.
- 2:24SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I mean they they dropped a lot of money on the street.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Yes, and they they they treated their employees very well.
- 2:29SPEAKER_12: They did, except not many of them came.
- 2:33SPEAKER_12: That was the problem.
- 2:35SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 2:36SPEAKER_12: Or if they did, or yeah, if they did sporadically.
- 2:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they would they they would come and be like, oh, this is cool.
- 2:41SPEAKER_12: Uh I'll eat while the kids play on the bouncy.
- 2:44SPEAKER_12: Okay, gotta go.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: It's time to go home now.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: That's exactly the way it looked like.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: And that's exactly what happened.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: And that's the way uh that's the way I looked at it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: We were all alone up on stage.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: Um and every every time.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Well, with the rest of the band.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: With the rest of the band.
- 2:57SPEAKER_12: You make it sound that it was just like you and me.
- 2:58SPEAKER_12: Well, I mean I mean the whole band was alone on the stage.
- 3:01SPEAKER_12: Well, but we we have been alone on that stage before.
- 3:03SPEAKER_12: But shut up, you know what I'm talking about.
- 3:05SPEAKER_12: No, no, no, I'm being serious.
- 3:06SPEAKER_12: I mean you and I.
- 3:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Um, this is like the third time we've played that place.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we played once as Comic Crossing.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: And then once as the duo.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that was Syndicate.
- 3:16SPEAKER_12: As soon as we get Skinny Elvis a gig there, we'll be that's another gig I want to.
- 3:21SPEAKER_12: Quad quadfructa.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Concerned about.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Well, concerned is not the word.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: Just anxiety.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: Freaking out?
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Um a little bit.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Because that's what I'm doing.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Are you?
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm excited.
- 3:33SPEAKER_12: I'm excited to play, but I'm freaking out because I'm not a lead singer.
- 3:37SPEAKER_12: And now I am.
- 3:38SPEAKER_12: You are.
- 3:39SPEAKER_12: Well, I'm not.
- 3:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:40SPEAKER_12: But I'm not a lead singer.
- 3:41SPEAKER_12: I'm not I'm not a front man.
- 3:43SPEAKER_12: I'm I'm just like, hey, can I be in your band?
- 3:46SPEAKER_12: What are you gonna do, Doug?
- 3:47SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 3:48SPEAKER_12: Well, here's the thing that we already have a drummer, so I'll be the other drummer.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: We'll be like the grateful dead.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Here's the thing that I'm concerned about.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: Uh I I, to a fault, think about the audience.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean Oh, they're gonna hate it.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: I don't know if they're gonna hate it.
- 4:05SPEAKER_12: Well, maybe they're gonna hate it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 4:07SPEAKER_12: Well, I I I told you guys I heard us advertised on Channel Arch Radio.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: You yeah, you did.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: I didn't know what it was.
- 4:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah, the guy, oh yeah, the Bloomfest coming up.
- 4:15SPEAKER_12: There's gonna a new a new Rooster County band's gonna be the skinny Elvis.
- 4:18SPEAKER_12: And I was like, ooh, so my ears perked up.
- 4:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:20SPEAKER_12: He's like, yeah, it's members of the Star City Syndicate, and he started naming us off, and I'm like, oh no.
- 4:25SPEAKER_12: Oh no.
- 4:26SPEAKER_12: Everybody does?
- 4:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:28SPEAKER_12: Well, just first names.
- 4:30SPEAKER_12: Oh so now, but he said, you know, members of the Star City Syndicate.
- 4:34SPEAKER_12: So now they have this.
- 4:35SPEAKER_12: So now they're getting this idea that they were gonna be playing syndicate songs.
- 4:39SPEAKER_12: Oh no.
- 4:39SPEAKER_12: Oh, this is that's that's when I started freaking out because I was like, if they didn't know it was us, it would be one thing.
- 4:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah, exactly.
- 4:47SPEAKER_12: I was hoping for some anonymity, you know, it'd just be like, you know, oh Skinny Elvis.
- 4:51SPEAKER_12: I never heard of Skinny Elvis.
- 4:53SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: So we're playing uh uh music that's like the polar opposite of Star City Syndicate.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: We're playing harder-edged 90s rock.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: Louder.
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, very loud.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: And uh actually, uh even a song from from recently from Shinedown, we're cont contemplating doing it's on the set list.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, if we get to it, you know.
- 5:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah, if we get to it, grade.
- 5:16SPEAKER_12: If not uh and we're gonna be in the building.
- 5:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, because it's gonna rain all day.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so that's gonna be loud.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: So that's my concern is is just how it's gonna go over.
- 5:28SPEAKER_12: Um Well, that's not up to us.
- 5:30SPEAKER_12: I'm just I mean, I just hope we we play well.
- 5:33SPEAKER_12: I I I think we will be fine playing wise.
- 5:38SPEAKER_12: I mean Well, the sound's gonna suck regardless.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: I Yeah, that's true.
- 5:42SPEAKER_12: That's just nothing we can do about that.
- 5:44SPEAKER_12: It's just a building.
- 5:45SPEAKER_12: It's a big tin building.
- 5:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:47SPEAKER_12: Sound's gonna go everywhere.
- 5:48SPEAKER_12: I mean, we've had the Syndicate in there before.
- 5:50SPEAKER_12: Common Crossing's played in there before.
- 5:52SPEAKER_12: It's always it's always a crap show.
- 5:53SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 5:54SPEAKER_12: So, sound wise.
- 5:55SPEAKER_12: So Well, maybe since it's raining.
- 5:58SPEAKER_12: Nobody will show up.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: Nobody will show up.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: Because you know, it's a balloon festival, and if there's rain at a balloon festival, what are you gonna go up there for?
- 6:07SPEAKER_12: Well, it's a balloon.
- 6:08SPEAKER_12: Food trucks and the band.
- 6:11SPEAKER_12: And a band that you never heard of.
- 6:12SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 6:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:14SPEAKER_12: That's that's a drop.
- 6:17SPEAKER_12: Maybe there won't be nobody there.
- 6:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah, maybe it'll be just a paid practice.
- 6:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah, maybe.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: Which is fine with me.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: Which is fine with me, too.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so yeah, but no, I am a little on edge about about this gig.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: I think it's gonna be uh I'm gonna have fun.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's gonna be fun.
- 6:29SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna have fun with you guys, but I'm just gonna be like, mmm, mom and dad are planning gungami.
- 6:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they are?
- 6:35SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's written on the calendar.
- 6:37SPEAKER_12: That's how serious they are about.
- 6:38SPEAKER_12: I'm like, and I was like, You're gonna hate it.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: Here's the thing.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: So my wife, we uh I I and I was telling her how nervous I was about this gig, and I I said, This is one of the songs that we're playing, and I brought up Shinedown, Diamond Eyes.
- 6:55SPEAKER_03: She's playing on my phone, right?
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and she's on her computer and she turns around and she says, Yeah, I won't be going to that show.
- 7:04SPEAKER_12: So there you go.
- 7:06SPEAKER_12: All right, okay.
- 7:07SPEAKER_12: We're turning people away already.
- 7:09SPEAKER_12: All right.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: Nah, we haven't even played yet.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: I said, I sent um, so there we I got a friend of mine that uh went to our remember when we played the hotel, the down under the Coppers, down in the basement of Coppers?
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, the the new the new uh the lounge.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: The lounge, yes, yes, yes.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: Remember when we played that?
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: And I I had a friend there, her and her husband, and they love the 90s rock that we do.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: They we did tonic and we did a couple other things.
- 7:35SPEAKER_03: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: And they're like, oh, that's awesome.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: And then I told them about the band, and so this they said, let you know, remind us when that when that happens.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: So I sent her a snap the other day, and I said, Hey, just so you know, uh, this may be our first and last gig.
- 7:50SPEAKER_13: But it's coming it's coming up this Thursday.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: So uh maybe her and her husband will be there.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: That'll be fun.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, that'd be nice.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: Well, then you know we'll have some friends.
- 7:59SPEAKER_12: Four people there.
- 8:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 8:01SPEAKER_12: Nice.
- 8:02SPEAKER_12: I think Sarah's coming.
- 8:03SPEAKER_12: Is she?
- 8:03SPEAKER_12: I think that'll be fun.
- 8:05SPEAKER_12: Because if Sarah's there, that's that's just gonna be just icy.
- 8:07SPEAKER_12: Maybe we should bring a keyboard.
- 8:09SPEAKER_12: Nah.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: I'm just kidding.
- 8:12SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah, it was it was a weird gig Saturday.
- 8:15SPEAKER_12: It was a weird gig.
- 8:16SPEAKER_12: But the night before we played a pretty cool gig.
- 8:19SPEAKER_12: We did.
- 8:19SPEAKER_12: That was that was actually kind of fun.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I enjoyed it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: It was a rehearsal um dinner or rehearsal get together.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: Um for a friend of mine's daughter who's getting who got married on the Saturday.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: And we didn't know what to expect, but uh um they had us over in the corner of this barn.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: They had food and they were running around.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: They had a good time, just great people.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they were very nice.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: And and they and they weren't annoying at all, which was nice.
- 8:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_12: It was a nice change of pace.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: Sometimes we have those.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: But uh but uh yeah.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I had a good time.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: And I think they were they were happy.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: I think they're I think so.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: They enjoyed themselves.
- 8:57SPEAKER_12: So that's all that's all that's all we can ask for.
- 8:59SPEAKER_12: That's all we got.
- 9:00SPEAKER_12: We c we can only do what we can we can only do so much.
- 9:02SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 9:03SPEAKER_12: We're only mere human.
- 9:04SPEAKER_03: Um so some a couple of sad things.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: Um so let's let's get the the celebrity uh deaths out of way out of the way first.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: Jack Russell.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: From Great White passed away.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: Um We already talked about that.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: Did we talk about that last week?
- 9:22SPEAKER_12: No, because it happened like the day that the podcast dropped.
- 9:25SPEAKER_12: Wait a second.
- 9:26SPEAKER_12: Did we we did Great White?
- 9:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we did Great White, and then like the next day it was like, oh, Jack Russell's dead.
- 9:30SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 9:31SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 9:31SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 9:32SPEAKER_12: Right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_12: It was like Kismet that we'd actually did Great White.
- 9:35SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 9:35SPEAKER_12: I forgot.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: I I remember you you had said, dude, Jack Russell died.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: And I guess I didn't put the two together that we had just talked about Great White.
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: Um so yeah, Jack Russell died.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: He'd he'd dealt with a long history of of uh abuse and just health health issues and and um so that was still that was pretty sad.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: He was young, like 63.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: 63, 63.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: Greg Kinn passed away.
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was crazy.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: Um he was uh obviously the Greg Kinn band.
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: Um I think he was 70 something.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: Our Love's in Jeopardy, baby.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: And then what's that?
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: Um They don't write him like that anymore.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the breakup song.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: The breakup song, yeah.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: Um but he was also uh rock DJ for a long time.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Right, right, right.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: I forget about that.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 10:22SPEAKER_12: Um so yeah, he used to be on the station up here.
- 10:24unknown: Yes.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: He did.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he did.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: He was on the rock for a while.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Um, but more close to home, and you don't know this.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: Um, and I don't know if you know uh did you know our neighbors?
- 10:36SPEAKER_12: I only met him a couple times.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 10:38SPEAKER_12: So he did he didn't pass away, did he?
- 10:40SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: Uh she did.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: What?
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: So um our neighbors who have uh we've been we've been in this house for what, 23 years?
- 10:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah, mostly 23, 20 years.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: Twenty four years, something like that.
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: So when my two oldest were young, um my neighbor who are who at the time were in their fifties, I think, and now they're obviously an elderly couple.
- 11:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: Um they uh well she uh babysat.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: Right, you know, every once in a while.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: And then when uh my oldest went into went to school um in pre-K, uh she she watched well, there was an arrangement because both Teresa and I were working.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: So we had an arrangement, so she she watched Jude, you know, while while we were at work and while Olivia was in school.
- 11:32SPEAKER_03: And but they were basically grandparents to our kids.
- 11:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: To all of our kids.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: You know, uh if our kids got bored on uh on on a weekday or even on a weekend weekend, they would call over, can we come over?
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: And instead of watching TV at our house, they went and watched TV at their house.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: You know, it was and it was it was the same thing, or it was just their company that they enjoyed.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: And so we were very, very close.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: Um and she had some health issues uh just kind of pop up um not last year, but the end of the year before.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: And then uh late last year, she uh I'm not gonna go into detail, but anyway, she was she was diagnosed with cancer.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: Oh, I didn't know and it moved very, very, very quickly.
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: Very good.
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: Yes, it was very aggressive for me, and actually it it you know went all through one thing on top of another wasn't just cancer, she's had some blood clots and stuff like that.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: So anyway, um we saw her last week and over the weekend she was moved to uh House of Comfort for hospice care, and she passed away Monday yesterday morning at about seven o'clock.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Oh it is too bad.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: And um, so you know, we're we're waiting to hear about the funeral and all that stuff.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: So but m my two oldest are taking it the hardest.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, I bet, yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: You know, and and my wife, and I mean it's it's rough on me too.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: I try to be tough for everybody, but she was a pretty special lady um for my kids.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah and so so it uh so rest in peace, Diana.
- 13:09SPEAKER_12: Um I mean they still they always played the bas played basketball.
- 13:13SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 13:14SPEAKER_12: The basketball they played basketball in the in their yard.
- 13:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, all the time.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: We never had I mean, we have a a net now, but we don't have a tarred driveway or something.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: They would do everything for our kids.
- 13:25SPEAKER_03: They Bill used to put up a a uh like a volleyball net out in the backyard.
- 13:29SPEAKER_03: He they didn't have their grandkids live out in Utah.
- 13:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: Actually their grandkids are grown now, but but at the time, you know, they went out to Utah every once in a while, but not often enough.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: And so our kids were s kind of pseudo grandkids to them.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: So um but yeah, they pulled out all the stops.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: He used to take them on tractor rides around the house when they were little and things like that.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: And and I still I still go to him.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: Um he's got some health issues now too, but I still go to him for mechanical issues.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: Oh sure.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: When we buy a new car, I go, hey, well, would you take a look at this?
- 14:02SPEAKER_03: You know, and uh because he was a mechanic for years.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: Um so um prayers for him too, because uh you know, he's eighty something and just lost his partner.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so I don't know, you know, we're gonna have to keep an eye on him.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: You know.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: So but yeah, not to bring the podcast down, but I just wanted to say to to recognize the fact that we lost a family member.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Basically.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's too bad.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: So rest in peace, Diana.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: We love you.
- 14:32SPEAKER_03: Um and let's get back to uh some rock and roll stuff.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: Rock and roll.
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: Um the um September issue, some September releases.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: I want to get to that.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: Because there's some cool stuff coming up, and I'm not sure if you knew about that.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: I think you probably knew about this, but I don't know if you knew that there was a date for it.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: So let's go September 6th, and I'm only I'm not doing reissues.
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: I'm not doing live releases unless it's like a new one.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: Okay.

- 15:28SPEAKER_03: Nick Lowe has a new album called Indoor Safari.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: Isn't he like 74,000 years old?
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: I think so.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think so.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: Uh, but I'd be interested to hear what that sounds like.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: I've always liked Nick Lowe.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: He's long history with how John Hyatt.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: So also September 13th, Striper.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah.

- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: When we were kings comes out September 13th.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of cool.

- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Um September 20th.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: These are um, that's my phone.
- 16:04SPEAKER_03: These are oh, so here's one that's not necessarily a well, it's a new release, so I can say it.
- 16:10SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: Michael Shanker.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Uh um My Years with UFO.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: And it's not, it's it's kind of a great tits, but they're new recordings with Axel Rose, Dee Snyder, Slash, and a bunch of other people.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of cool.
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: That is kind of cool.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Uh My Years with UFO UFO, Michael Schenker comes out September 20th.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: Um, there is a live one that I will talk about uh only because I don't know if it's old or if it's new.

- 16:44SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: Also comes out September 20th.
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: I wonder if it's with uh Lizzie Hale.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: Ah, I never even thought of that.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: That would be kind of cool.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it would be.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Um the rest of these are reissue.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: Uh Steve Howe from Yes has one called Guitarscape.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: That's coming out on September 27th.
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: Uh reissues, greatest hits.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Not interested.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: Play that.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: I want to hear the MC5?
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: I do want to hear the MC5 one.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, so let me get to this first.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no problem.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: October and beyond.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: Uh let's see.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: Well, MC five.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: Heavy lifting.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: Remember, we had talked about the fact that they they all passed away, but they're releasing a new album.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: So we'll hear that in a second.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: But I also wanted to talk about this.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: Uh Jerry Cantrell has a solo album coming out.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: Uh, apparently.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: It's called I Want Blood.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: Features Duff McKagan, Robert Trujillo.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: Uh from Metallica.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Trujillo.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: True, I'm sorry, true Trujillo.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, and that's all that's all October and beyond.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: There are no dates on that, but it's kind of cool.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: That is cool.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, you want to hear this?
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: I want to hear this MC5 song.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: The new album from M well from MC five is called Heavy Lifting, and this is a song called Boys Who Play with Matches.
- 18:01SPEAKER_09: Hey Dave White.
- 18:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_09: Which one of these two guitar tones do you like better?
- 18:21SPEAKER_12: It's playing with M25.
- 18:35SPEAKER_13: It's produced by John Walls.
- 19:09SPEAKER_14: That sounds like a normal kid.
- 19:11SPEAKER_14: It's a very moral kind of like a big thing.
- 19:20SPEAKER_12: I like what I hear though.
- 19:22SPEAKER_12: I like it too.
- 19:22SPEAKER_12: It sounds really good.
- 19:33SPEAKER_10: Is that going on the honey?
- 19:37SPEAKER_10: What is your voice?
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't know why that sounds like that, but but that's obviously some in studio uh stuff.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: But Abe Abe Laboreal Jr.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: is playing drums.
- 19:47SPEAKER_12: That's awesome.
- 19:47SPEAKER_12: That's awesome.
- 19:48SPEAKER_12: I'm getting it just for that one.
- 19:49SPEAKER_12: I know.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: We love that guy.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: So MC5 heavy lifting.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: Uh very cool.
- 19:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that was awesome, man.
- 19:56SPEAKER_03: Uh speaking of new new music, I heard this uh on our friend Eddie Trunk's show today.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: Uh oh.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: And I wanted to feature it and uh and I learned some things that Eddie didn't know at the time.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: So, you know, because I know we share listeners with Eddie Trunk.
- 20:10SPEAKER_12: Do we?
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, whatever.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: Um accidentally, maybe.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Maybe.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: Hey, who are these guys?
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: Um Where's Eddie?
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: Foreigner is uh obviously Foreigner is finally going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: Uh deservedly so.
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: They deserved it decade ago.
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: Decades ago, yeah.
- 20:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Um but uh they're putting out another Greatest Hits package.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: There are so many Foreigner Greatest Hits packages.
- 20:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's like seventy-four.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: Something, I don't know.
- 20:41SPEAKER_03: But they're putting out another one, and this one has at least one new song.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: New old song.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: New old song.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: So if you don't know the history of Foreigner, Lou Graham was in Foreigner.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: Uh you mean Lou Reed?
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: No, I mean Lou.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: Um Lou Graham was in Foreigner.
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: Um from the beginning, uh, all the way up until like I don't let's actually, it's probably written right here.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Uh in this article.
- 21:10SPEAKER_12: Let's peruse it.
- 21:12SPEAKER_12: Um Did you hear me use a big word?
- 21:14SPEAKER_12: Peruse.
- 21:15SPEAKER_12: Peruse.
- 21:16SPEAKER_12: Use it in a sense, Doug.
- 21:17SPEAKER_12: We're gonna peruse this article about Foreigner.
- 21:22SPEAKER_12: Um maybe it doesn't say it in the article.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: Um but Lugram was in Foreigner up until they did uh Inside Information, and then he left and he did a solo project, and he had a couple big hits from the solo project.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: Right Midnight Blue, and and had two albums actually actually two solo albums.
- 21:42SPEAKER_03: And then he rejoined Foreigner for their Mr.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: Moonlight album back in the like early to mid nineties.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: And this song comes from about nineteen ninety six.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: It was in nineteen ninety seven that Lou Graham discovered that he had a Brain tumor the size of an egg in his frontal lobe.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: And he'd had it since he was a kid.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Apparently.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: It's non-cancerous.
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: So they had to remove it, and he hasn't been the same since.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: He still has a great voice, but he hasn't been, you know, everything is slower and still uh, you know, royal rock royalty and can sing like he still can sing great.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: Um, but this was recorded before he discovered he even had a brain tumor, so the year before.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: Um and I like it.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: I listen to it.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: It's called uh Turning Back the Time.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: So this is Lou Graham and Mick Jones from Foreigner.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: I don't know how many of the other band members are in it.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: Sounds like Midnight Blue.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: A little bit.
- 22:52SPEAKER_03: And I have to say, Eddie Trunk couldn't decide if this was Lou Graham or if they gave the song to the current lineup of Foreigner and they recorded it.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: And so I had to listen to it.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: And I listened to it, I was like, how do you not know that that's Lou Graham?
- 23:06SPEAKER_08: I mean, true.
- 23:08SPEAKER_08: Thinking about the times I was growing up and the world that brought me here.
- 23:17SPEAKER_08: All the little things that change the shape of things that come, the laughter and the tears.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: But I mean, it sounds like 1996.
- 24:16SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it does, right?
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: It's good.
- 24:18SPEAKER_12: I mean 90s.
- 24:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 24:19SPEAKER_12: Um, but I I still play the the that rip sounds like Midnight Blue.
- 24:24SPEAKER_03: It does.
- 24:24SPEAKER_03: The yeah.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: Oh damn.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: And you know what?
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: Somebody else pointed something out too.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: Uh let me get to the chorus again here because somebody said that the chorus sounded like a winger song.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: And I I hear what they're saying.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: Um, and I'll play for you in a second, but I it's it's not close enough for me.
- 24:47SPEAKER_03: It's the chorus.
- 25:02SPEAKER_03: No?
- 25:06SPEAKER_06: If you're a winger fan, you know what song I mean when I say down incognito, but um let me just play a bit of that because the only thing that, you know, I don't really hear it.
- 25:39SPEAKER_03: I mean to be honest with you.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: I only hear just a little bit of it and it doesn't sound enough like it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: No.
- 25:44SPEAKER_12: Uh I don't I don't hear it at all.
- 25:46SPEAKER_12: So Yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: So anyway, it's kind of a cool song.
- 25:49SPEAKER_03: So the the um release obviously has everything feels like first time, cold as ice, long, long way from home, hop hot blooded, so-and-so on four there's 18 tracks.
- 25:59SPEAKER_03: There's one on there, there's only two tracks that feature Kelly Hansen, the the current lead singer, from that one album that he did.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: Umriginal album he did with them.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: But there's one on there called The Flame Still Burns.
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: I don't think that is uh let's see.
- 26:16SPEAKER_03: Let me look at that album with Kelly Hansen on it, because I don't think it's on that album.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: And if it isn't, then it's also a new track.
- 26:24SPEAKER_03: Uh I don't want to I don't I don't want to tell you that incorrectly.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's not on.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: Can't slow down.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: So I think there's two new tracks.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Uh The Flame Still Burns and that one turning back to time.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: So always good to hear Foreigner.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: I don't care if it's the old foreigner, if it's the new foreigner.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: I just like that kind of music, you know.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: Just they call it corporate rock, like journey.
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: They call it corporate rock.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: It's so stupid.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: Um I prefer arena rock.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I prefer that as well.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Just big choruses, which is feel-good stuff for the most part, yeah?
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Um, and okay, so then I gotta share this with you.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: Uh I haven't seen it either, so Um There is a new documentary.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: Wow that's coming out.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Actually, let me before I play it, let me let me tell you when that's coming out.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Uh the documentary is called Nothing But a Good Time.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: And it is on Paramount Plus.
- 27:21SPEAKER_12: Of course it is.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: And it premieres exclusively on Paramount Plus September 17th.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: It is the uncensored story of 80s hair metal.
- 27:33SPEAKER_12: That's uncensored.
- 27:36SPEAKER_12: That leaves it open for a lot.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:39SPEAKER_12: Well, I mean, you what's that um I can actually.
- 27:43SPEAKER_12: I all I can think of is that Motley Crue movie, The Dirt.
- 27:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_12: I think it's gonna put that, you know, it makes it like it's gonna be on that level, which I don't think it's going to be.
- 27:52SPEAKER_03: I think you ever seen the documentary The Decline of Western Civilization?
- 27:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's gonna be more like that.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:57SPEAKER_03: Um, so uh we'll watch this together.
- 27:59SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: Um and I uh if there's any so this is just a trailer.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: This is we're just watching the trailer.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: If there's any profanity, I apologize.
- 28:07SPEAKER_12: I doubt there will be.
- 28:08SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: So let's just hit play on this.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: In the 80s, it was an exciting time in music that was amazing.
- 28:16SPEAKER_10: Of course, of course, they would have recorded first night.
- 28:19SPEAKER_10: All the fing weight.
- 28:21SPEAKER_10: More hair, more clothes, high pants.
- 28:24SPEAKER_10: That is what Rock A Road is about.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: This heavy metal music is all of it bad.
- 28:29SPEAKER_12: To me, they're all satanic.
- 28:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that was Rudy Starzo, he's wearing a black flag DJ.
- 28:35SPEAKER_12: They know that's a good tour.
- 28:36SPEAKER_12: Every huge- Oh, it's directors by the dirt.
- 28:39SPEAKER_12: Is it that yeah?
- 28:41SPEAKER_12: Blood, the onions.
- 28:42SPEAKER_12: Is that done, Doc?
- 28:43SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: I wanted to play so hard that my hands would bleed.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: I would have blood on my snare on the top.
- 28:48SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's modified the hard piece explosive.
- 28:57SPEAKER_09: We just could make it drive.
- 29:07SPEAKER_09: It was nothing but a good time.
- 29:09SPEAKER_09: Not if I live, I feel like I'm gonna die.
- 29:12SPEAKER_09: Sometimes it's a good spent.
- 29:14SPEAKER_10: When you have that level of dominance, there's nowhere else really to go except for off the cliff.
- 29:21SPEAKER_05: Randy winds up taking a joyride.
- 29:23SPEAKER_09: I'm awakened by oh that was gonna take care of it.
- 29:27SPEAKER_09: I brought him back home in a box.
- 29:29SPEAKER_09: I had to change my life to get back on track.
- 29:32SPEAKER_12: I always felt bad for Rudy Starz though.
- 29:34SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 29:37SPEAKER_12: The music withstood the test of time.
- 29:39SPEAKER_05: They really changed the game.
- 29:41SPEAKER_10: We bet on ourselves.
- 29:42SPEAKER_10: And when it paid off, it was awesome.
- 29:45SPEAKER_10: You didn't realize what a magical time you were in.
- 29:49SPEAKER_12: That is actually true.
- 29:51SPEAKER_12: I agree.
- 29:52SPEAKER_12: That is actually that is no truer words have ever been spoken than that.
- 29:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: That you didn't realize it.
- 29:58SPEAKER_12: We didn't realize at the time.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: And now, now looking back on it, we're like, man, that was so good.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: We i you know, it it's funny that you can that music and the majority of that music, there's some music from that era that I don't like.
- 30:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: Like, like, like, you know, like uh um I may like I may like the big hits from bands like LA Guns or Um Faster Pussycat.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, sure.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: But I don't like I don't like their whole catalog.
- 30:24SPEAKER_12: Right, right.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: You know, but there are bands that we listen to in that at that point in our lives that stand up today.
- 30:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and they're still they're still rocking it.
- 30:34SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 30:35SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 30:35SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 30:36SPEAKER_12: Guns and Roses, poison.
- 30:38SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 30:38SPEAKER_12: Quiet riot to a certain extent.
- 30:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:40SPEAKER_12: Crew.
- 30:41SPEAKER_12: Docking, you know.
- 30:43SPEAKER_12: I mean, I saw Great White mention there.
- 30:45SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 30:45SPEAKER_12: You know, all these guys.
- 30:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 30:47SPEAKER_12: I mean, we're still listening, we're still listening to these guys.
- 30:50SPEAKER_03: You know, they listed Def Leppard as well.
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and Def Leppard was like, Look at Def Leppard.
- 30:52SPEAKER_03: Def Leppard is doing like a world tour that is like the best-selling tour.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: So it's yeah.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we didn't realize how good we had it.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: No.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: No.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: We had no idea.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: And and it's funny because I think we were just talking about how not that these guys I I don't necessarily consider these guys a hairband.
- 31:10SPEAKER_03: Many people do, and I'm sure they're played on the hairband stations, but we were just talking about Sammy Hagar.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 31:16SPEAKER_03: And the the the best of all worlds tour and how well that's going.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: And you know, if you follow Sammy Hagar or Jason Bonham or Joe Satriani or Mike Anthony on Instagram or Facebook or whatever, they're posting um videos from the tour, which is just it's like 1988 again.
- 31:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 31:38SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's like the crowds the he played the fo they played the forum in LA, uh, I think it was yesterday.
- 31:46SPEAKER_03: And there's footage of just a I mean, uh a stadium is packed.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: Uh it's amazing.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: It's amazing to see.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: And it's the music that stands up.
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: You know, still listening to it.
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: Just an old-fashioned good old rock concert.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's awesome, man.
- 32:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: I'm surprised Van Halen's not featured in that.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: But a part of it I understand because they're not really hair metal.
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: I don't consider them hair metal, but you know, I mean, you hear dance in Idaway on hairband all the time.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: You know, things like that, but whatever.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: Um I think it's because they didn't do the makeup thing.
- 32:17SPEAKER_12: You're probably right.
- 32:17SPEAKER_12: They did the big hair thing.
- 32:19SPEAKER_12: They did the big hair thing to a certain extent.
- 32:21SPEAKER_12: They did the leather pants.
- 32:22SPEAKER_12: Yeah, well, I mean, well, that was mostly David Lee Roth.
- 32:25SPEAKER_12: True.
- 32:25SPEAKER_12: You know, yeah, true.
- 32:26SPEAKER_12: And he was just kind of like, meh, you know.
- 32:28SPEAKER_12: Of course, Michael Anthony's just, you know, a monster.
- 32:30SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 32:31SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 32:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 32:32SPEAKER_12: Alex is just he's the drummer, nobody's paying attention anyway.
- 32:35SPEAKER_12: So it doesn't really matter.
- 32:37SPEAKER_12: So, but yeah, I mean, yeah.
- 32:38SPEAKER_12: I mean, it was only David Reed alone.
- 32:40SPEAKER_12: David Reed David Lee Roth would be would be hair metal to me.
- 32:43SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 32:44SPEAKER_12: Just him alone.
- 32:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 32:45SPEAKER_12: The rest of the guys are just like regular dudes.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: But um, so that looks kind of neat.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: That looks like I'm gonna watch that.
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: Uh so again, that's um, let's see, what's it called again?
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Nothing about a good time.
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: September 17th.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: An uncensored story of 80s hair metal.
- 33:00SPEAKER_03: That ought to be really interesting.
- 33:01SPEAKER_03: September 17th on Paramount Plus.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: That's gonna be interesting.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: And if it's anything like, I don't know if they they're gonna do it if it's like a full documentary or if they do it in in episodes, because that's what they did with the Bonjour.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they did episodes.
- 33:15SPEAKER_12: Hopefully it's a uh it would be actually I think it would be good for episodes.
- 33:19SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 33:20SPEAKER_12: Because that's a lot of information to put in a couple hours.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, wait, maybe I I I I saw the uh first one.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: Nothing but a good time is the second eighties hard rock docuseries to hit Paramount Plus in a little over a year following last summer's I Wanna Rock, the 80s Metal Dream.
- 33:34SPEAKER_03: Remember I told you how I felt I felt bad for Kip Winger?
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, right, yeah, yeah.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: I did watch that.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, I didn't I didn't Is it still recording?
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: I think it's yeah, it's still recording.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: I I uh I knocked it over by mistake.
- 33:49SPEAKER_03: I just kind of got excited and hit hit my, you know.
- 33:53SPEAKER_03: Anyway, um velcro that to there.
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: Something, right?
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Um but yeah, no, that was a good one.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: Okay, uh it was that one.
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: It was it was pretty uh sobering, actually.
- 34:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'm sure.
- 34:04SPEAKER_03: Especially Kip Winger.
- 34:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: Um but yeah.
- 34:07SPEAKER_03: Uh okay, so there's that.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: And then we did the releases.
- 34:11SPEAKER_03: Okay, so is it time for mixtape yet?
- 34:13SPEAKER_03: I haven't really had time to think about it.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: Well, it's it's it's mixtape anytime we want.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: It's mixtape anytime we want.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: Okay, so we have to get uh who won last week.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 34:23SPEAKER_03: Uh what was the question last week?
- 34:25SPEAKER_12: Um you don't even remember do you remember?
- 34:43SPEAKER_03: We don't know did she get did she pick a winner?
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 34:48SPEAKER_03: Um I can't either.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: We're so old, it's not even funny.
- 34:55SPEAKER_12: Oh goodness.
- 35:00SPEAKER_12: Oh, it was the uh biggest road trip.
- 35:03SPEAKER_03: Biggest road trip, yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: And I picked uh I picked What did I pick?
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: I picked um Oh uh I picked Bigfoot by uh Bigfoot.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: Bigfoot.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: I picked Oh, I picked Kid Rock and Nickelback.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 35:22SPEAKER_12: And Cousin Larry picked Sin City by uh Sin City by A C D C'est.
- 35:27SPEAKER_12: So this is what our lovely and intelligent judge said.
- 35:30SPEAKER_12: All really solid picks this week.
- 35:31SPEAKER_12: Definitely great road trip songs to play at full volume with the windows down.
- 35:35SPEAKER_12: But I picked Sin City AC D C.
- 35:37SPEAKER_12: How epic to jam out about Sin City while road tripping to the true Sin City.
- 35:42SPEAKER_12: There's one for Cousin Larry.
- 35:43SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 35:44SPEAKER_12: Good job.
- 35:45SPEAKER_12: Okay, so this week's question is.
- 35:48SPEAKER_12: No, absolutely not.
- 35:49SPEAKER_12: Uh this week's question was the uh what happened here?
- 35:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we're here.
- 36:01SPEAKER_12: Uh the slow motion gunfight song.
- 36:03SPEAKER_12: Oh, that's right.
- 36:04SPEAKER_12: Slow motion gunfight song.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: And uh to be honest with you, you didn't think about it.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: I didn't think about it until you just came in.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: Ah, good friend.
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: I asked you what it was.
- 36:12SPEAKER_03: I thought about it while we've been talking.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: So I think I have one.
- 36:15SPEAKER_12: Okay, well, I'll go with Cousin Larry first, and then I'll go, then you have some extra time.
- 36:19SPEAKER_12: Sure.
- 36:20SPEAKER_12: Okay, I was really upset because Cousin Larry came up with a really excellent one, and I wish I'd thought of it first.
- 36:28SPEAKER_12: Okay, so this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 36:31SPEAKER_12: There's a bunch of songs out there like Johnny Cash's Don't Take Your Guns of Town, Two Gunslingers by Tom Petty, Saturday Night Special by Skinnard, Big Iron by Marty Robbins, and Blaze of Glory by Bon Jovi, which I didn't even consider that one.
- 36:45SPEAKER_12: But the coolest one, in my opinion, is the theme from the good, the bad, and the ugly.
- 36:49SPEAKER_12: And that is my choice.
- 36:50SPEAKER_14: Wow.
- 36:51SPEAKER_12: Ecstasy of Gold.
- 36:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 36:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 36:54SPEAKER_12: Um and it was so good, I wish I'd thought of it.
- 37:01SPEAKER_12: Now, uh, didn't Metallica do a version of Gold?
- 37:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, no, they they used to play it before they went on on the stage, yes.
- 37:07SPEAKER_12: They didn't do a version on it.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Didn't they do something from NX Gold?
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: Something from Enio Morricone, though?
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 37:13SPEAKER_12: I thought they did something from Enio Morricone.
- 37:16SPEAKER_12: They might have, but I don't think so.
- 37:17SPEAKER_12: But this is the one that Cousin Larry is talking about.
- 37:21SPEAKER_12: Now, if you've seen the movie, I mean the theme is played out throughout the movie, but this it really comes together at the end when the three of them are having the standoff in the cemetery over the gold.
- 37:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 37:33SPEAKER_12: So slow motion.
- 37:36SPEAKER_12: Slow motion gunfight, yeah.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: So then I don't know, the one that I picked, I'm not sure I I like, but that's okay.
- 37:54SPEAKER_03: This is great.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: Yes, Ennio Morricone, the great uh film composer.
- 38:03SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 38:04SPEAKER_12: A lot of people would say he was the first rock and roll film composer.
- 38:09SPEAKER_12: Because he was the first one you put electric guitar into soundtracks.
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: He did a lot of spaghetti westerns, right?
- 38:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 38:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 38:14SPEAKER_12: Well, he's Italian, right?
- 38:16SPEAKER_12: So, you know.
- 38:19SPEAKER_02: I can see this as a slow-motion.
- 38:22SPEAKER_12: And I I I absolutely love this movie anyway.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:25SPEAKER_12: I mean, I watched the full three and a half hours of it, and I just love every second of it.
- 38:31SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 38:31SPEAKER_12: You know?
- 38:32SPEAKER_12: Especially the end of it when they're having their little standoff.
- 38:36SPEAKER_12: So this this song is, you know, synonymous with that.
- 38:41SPEAKER_12: So every time I hear the song, all I can think about is that whole scene.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: I get it.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I get it.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: I I still now I feel uneasy about mine, but oh, okay, go ahead.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: What's yours?
- 38:51SPEAKER_12: Now mine is also from a movie.
- 38:54SPEAKER_12: Um mine is from the We Were Soldiers soundtrack.
- 38:58SPEAKER_12: It's called Sergeant Mackenzie.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I think I think I went at this.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: I think I went at this the wrong way.
- 39:14SPEAKER_12: And I picked this one just because of the it's used in the movie, but the words are haunting.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: Well, hold on, I have one with words here.
- 39:22SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: You know, I still haven't seen this movie.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: You've never seen this is a Mel Gibson movie, right?
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: I have not seen it.
- 39:44SPEAKER_03: Oh, I've not seen it.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: I've every time I go to watch a movie, I see it and I'm like, oh, I want to watch that.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: But I never have like two hours.
- 39:51SPEAKER_12: I went to see it when it opened and it was Lelo's theater was, you know.
- 39:56SPEAKER_12: Oh wow, yeah.
- 39:58SPEAKER_12: True story.
- 40:00SPEAKER_12: The guy that plays, there's a guy from Madawaska that was there.
- 40:06SPEAKER_12: He was Colonel Moore's radio man.
- 40:09SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 40:10SPEAKER_12: He's a he, you know, there's a you know, he's mentioned in the movie.
- 40:13SPEAKER_12: He was there at that film at that screening.
- 40:17SPEAKER_12: I met him.
- 40:18SPEAKER_13: At the at the Lows Theater?
- 40:20SPEAKER_12: At the theater.
- 40:20SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 40:21SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: Many of them.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Maybe down in the cold, cold ground where before many more have gone.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: Is this a slow motion gunfight song though?
- 40:49SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Well, if you if you have to see the movie.
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: Many men have gone.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: I take it though.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think this is when they come start the mad.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: So this is he's singing like in a Scottish Well, it's a Scottish song.
- 41:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 41:12SPEAKER_03: So when they come, I will stand my ground, stand my ground, I'll not be afraid.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: I'll maybe take away my fear.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: Thoughts of home take away my fear.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: Sweat and blood hide my veil of tears.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: Hide my veil of tears.
- 41:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah, so this is my choice.
- 41:42SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 41:43SPEAKER_12: Because it's use in the movie.
- 41:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:46SPEAKER_12: It's the last, it's the assault.
- 41:48SPEAKER_12: It's the last assault, you know, they're out of ammo and they're they're charging up the hill.
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: It's like perfect.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: I went at this the wrong way.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Um.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Because I was thinking rock.
- 42:00SPEAKER_12: That's fine.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: I was thinking like uh, you know, because we we we deal a lot with rock on on the podcast.
- 42:06SPEAKER_12: What?
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: And so I was thinking like a slow-motion gunfight song, but like a a rock song.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: Uh and that's maybe that's why I had a such a hard time thinking of one.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Oh maybe.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: Because I guess I didn't know that we could just kind of pick whatever we want.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: I mean why wouldn't we pick whatever we want, right?
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: You know, so but I put that parameter on myself, apparently.
- 42:31SPEAKER_03: So that's all you.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: So um the song that I picked, um let's see if I have it here.
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: And I it's kind of funny now, now that I have have two movie soundtrack songs to compete with, but speaking of foreigner.
- 43:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Um slow motion.
- 43:03SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 43:04SPEAKER_06: Standing in the rain.
- 43:05SPEAKER_03: And then when the band comes in, that's the the shots.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:09SPEAKER_06: Couldn't get a ticket.
- 43:11SPEAKER_12: It was a slow.
- 43:12SPEAKER_12: I get it.
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: Did you get it?
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:14SPEAKER_12: I totally get it.
- 43:14SPEAKER_06: Heard the roar of the crowd.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: I love the song.
- 43:24SPEAKER_03: It's kind of slow motion.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: You can make a chance.
- 43:32SPEAKER_03: I think of something maybe that that uh a movie that Michael Bay might have directed the bad boys, or they're all slow-motion.
- 43:39SPEAKER_12: It's all slow-motion spinning shots here.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: Or even uh even uh Tarantino, you know.
- 43:44SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah.
- 43:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'll I'll never listen to Steelers Wheeler this name ever since I saw Reverend.
- 43:56SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 43:56SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_14: So I guess that's my joke.
- 44:00SPEAKER_14: Hey.
- 44:01SPEAKER_14: Um nothing wrong with it, man.
- 44:03SPEAKER_12: Picture picture pictures guys in slow motion.
- 44:06SPEAKER_12: I had I had three.
- 44:07SPEAKER_12: I had that Sergeant McKenzie.
- 44:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_12: I had Flight of the Valkyries.
- 44:11SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 44:12SPEAKER_12: You know, which I I thought was pretty cool.
- 44:14SPEAKER_12: And from the first Deadpool movie, DMX, X is gonna get you.
- 44:20SPEAKER_12: So I was gonna do that.
- 44:23SPEAKER_03: Alright, so so let's recap.
- 44:25SPEAKER_12: So Cousin Larry picked Ectasy Ecstasy of Gold from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly movie.
- 44:30SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 44:30SPEAKER_12: I picked Sergeant McKenzie from We Were Soldiers movie.
- 44:33SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 44:34SPEAKER_12: And you picked Foreigner, Jubox Hero.
- 44:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:37SPEAKER_12: So I'm sure it was in a movie.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it was in a movie somewhere.
- 44:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_12: So there's our three choices for the slow-motion gunfight song.
- 44:45SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 44:46SPEAKER_12: That works.
- 44:46SPEAKER_12: Our judge, our judge has her work for cut out for her.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: I yeah.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: I I uh I guess it all depends on the frame of mind you're in.
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah I guess.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: Okay, um, so we're gonna take a break.
- 45:01SPEAKER_12: We'll come back and oh we oh well, we gotta we gotta pick a new question.
- 45:03SPEAKER_12: Oh, we gotta pick a new question.
- 45:05SPEAKER_12: We're not ready yet.
- 45:06SPEAKER_12: Hold on, hold on, everybody! We have there's three there's three parts.
- 45:10SPEAKER_12: There's three parts to this, you know, we and we confuse them every time.
- 45:13SPEAKER_12: Every time.
- 45:14SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 45:14SPEAKER_12: I'm picking one at random here.
- 45:16SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 45:20SPEAKER_14: Feel free to pick another one if you.
- 45:23SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 45:24SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 45:25SPEAKER_12: Holy crap! You've just discovered a rocket pack behind a trapdoor in the old barn behind your grandparents' house.
- 45:33SPEAKER_12: Five minutes of fuel.
- 45:34SPEAKER_12: What song do you play while rocketing across the sky?
- 45:42SPEAKER_03: Five minutes of fuel.
- 45:45SPEAKER_14: You're in a rocket pack.
- 45:47SPEAKER_14: Oh, this is awesome.
- 45:48SPEAKER_14: Behind grandma's barn.
- 45:50SPEAKER_14: Oh, man.

- 45:55SPEAKER_12: I gotta send it to Cousin Larry.
- 45:57SPEAKER_03: Um.
- 46:00SPEAKER_03: I'll never remember it.
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: So rocketing across Rocket Man?
- 46:04SPEAKER_03: No, I'm sorry.
- 46:05SPEAKER_03: Probably shouldn't.
- 46:06SPEAKER_12: Rocket Man! That's that was actually the first one I thought of too.
- 46:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:13SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 46:14SPEAKER_12: All right.

- 47:51SPEAKER_12: Something's gonna happen.
- 47:52SPEAKER_12: Uh so let's gonna be magical.

- 47:58SPEAKER_12: We're gonna climb the tunes.
- 48:00SPEAKER_14: We're gonna time the time the clues.
- 48:02SPEAKER_12: Time to climb the tunes.
- 48:03SPEAKER_12: Time climb the time tunes.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 48:06SPEAKER_03: Uh I'm gonna pick a CD off the wall of tunes, and Doug's gonna guess.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: You know how you know how this goes.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: So before we do that, it's time for the bonus Beatles bits from the Cha!
- 48:16SPEAKER_12: The book is called Uh Hard Days Right by Steven Turner.
- 48:21SPEAKER_14: Here we go.
- 48:22SPEAKER_12: Or Steve, I should say.
- 48:23SPEAKER_14: Steve.
- 48:24SPEAKER_14: Steve!
- 48:25SPEAKER_12: Steve! Pizza Steve.
- 48:27SPEAKER_12: Uh the song this week is Help!
- 48:30unknown: Help!
- 48:31SPEAKER_12: Help! When he embarked on his solo career in the 70s, John would often refer to Help as one of his favorite Beatles songs.
- 48:39SPEAKER_12: He liked it, he said, because it was quote, real.
- 48:43SPEAKER_12: His one regret was that for commercial reasons, they had changed it from a slow Dylan-esque number into a jolly Beatles tune.
- 48:53SPEAKER_06: I need somebody.
- 48:55SPEAKER_06: Not just anybody.
- 49:01SPEAKER_12: Help was written with Paul at his Weybridge home, Kenwood, in April 1965.
- 49:06SPEAKER_12: The lyric reflected John's dissatisfaction with himself.
- 49:10SPEAKER_12: He was eating and drinking too much, had put on weight, and felt overwhelmed by the fact that they were such worldwide celebrities.
- 49:17SPEAKER_12: The song, he would later admit, really was a cry for help, despite being written to order for their second film.
- 49:26SPEAKER_12: I needed the help, he said.
- 49:30SPEAKER_12: Putting himself and his feelings at the center of a song wasn't a new departure, but the culmination of everything he'd been working towards.
- 49:37SPEAKER_12: The only difference was now that he seemed to be admitting that fame, wealth, and success had only increased his his and increased his anxiety.
- 49:46SPEAKER_12: At the pinnacle of pop stardom, John had started to look back with longing to what he now saw as those relatively uncomplicated days at Men Love Avenue.
- 49:57SPEAKER_12: The idealization of his boyhood and adolescence was a theme that was to grow in significance in his songwriting.
- 50:03SPEAKER_12: Maureen Cleve, the London journalist who had already helped out on the lyrics for a hard day's night, felt that John should start to use words of more than one syllable.
- 50:13SPEAKER_12: Help was his first serious attempt to do this, and he managed to incorporate self-assured, appreciate, independence, and insecure within the song.
- 50:23SPEAKER_12: In the film Help, again directed by Dick Lester, the song was used in the title sequence where black and white footage of the Beatles was projected onto a screen set up in the temple of the religious cult.
- 50:34SPEAKER_12: Released as a single Help, reached the number one spot in Britain and America in the number in the summer of 1965.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: Alright, so just for giggles.
- 51:09SPEAKER_03: Just for giggles.
- 51:11SPEAKER_03: Not giggles.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: Not giggles, but uh something cool.
- 51:16SPEAKER_03: So this is a commercial for much younger than today.
- 51:31SPEAKER_03: A lot of people have covered the song.
- 51:32SPEAKER_03: I just want to play a few covers.
- 51:36SPEAKER_03: This is Allie Sherlock.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: She's a British young singer-songwriter.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Looks like she's playing in the middle of them all.
- 51:44SPEAKER_03: I don't know if no, she's a songwriter, but I know she's she does this thing in the middle of uh London, I think.
- 51:52SPEAKER_07: Would you please, please help me?
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: She's actually uh pretty decent.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: This one is uh let's see.
- 52:02SPEAKER_08: What is a little bit the ladders I need to buy it?
- 52:09SPEAKER_06: I just didn't buy it.
- 52:12SPEAKER_06: You know I need some white so much today.
- 52:22SPEAKER_03: Okay, so that's very Beatles.
- 52:24SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 52:24SPEAKER_03: I was trying to find something that wasn't necessarily um the same as I need somebody.
- 52:31SPEAKER_03: It's just main artist Howie Day.
- 52:35SPEAKER_05: You know I need someone when I was younger, so much younger than today.
- 52:43SPEAKER_05: I never needed anybody's help in any way.
- 52:50SPEAKER_05: I wonder if uh Lennon's so selfish Lennon's slower version was like this.
- 52:56SPEAKER_05: Now fine.
- 52:57SPEAKER_12: Well he said it was he wanted it to be beetle or it was probably probably not quite the slow, but yeah, that's pretty slow.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: That kind of changes the whole thing, doesn't it?
- 53:16SPEAKER_12: Um You know, Bob's brother went to college with him.
- 53:20SPEAKER_12: With who?
- 53:20SPEAKER_12: Howie Day?
- 53:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:22SPEAKER_12: I didn't know that.
- 53:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:23SPEAKER_12: They used to hang out together.
- 53:25SPEAKER_12: This was before he became big.
- 53:27SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 53:27SPEAKER_03: So did you know that D Purple covered this?
- 53:33SPEAKER_14: I did not do it.
- 53:53SPEAKER_12: I think they made it their own.
- 53:55SPEAKER_12: Wait, what do you think?
- 53:56SPEAKER_12: Well, considering I have no idea what's going on, yes.
- 54:01SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's I I've yet to pick out anything that sounds help-ish.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: This is back when Rod Evans was the lead singer of Deep Purple.
- 54:17SPEAKER_12: And not for nothing, I think they were doing a lot of acid.
- 54:24SPEAKER_12: She's a breaking crowd.
- 54:45SPEAKER_12: I bet Lennon would've liked this.
- 54:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:49SPEAKER_12: Well, actually, when was this recorded?
- 54:51SPEAKER_12: Sixty-eight.
- 54:52SPEAKER_12: Oh, so he would have heard it.
- 54:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:03SPEAKER_06: I got it.
- 55:05SPEAKER_06: There we go.
- 55:19SPEAKER_03: You know, it's a sign of a good song though, when you can play it slow, you can play it fast, and it's still a still the same song.
- 55:26SPEAKER_12: Good song.
- 55:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 55:28SPEAKER_12: Well, this this is a little more depressing than I.
- 55:47SPEAKER_03: Last one, last one, because uh we we gotta move on.
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: But this is another cover by the band called Crocus.
- 56:01SPEAKER_03: Crocus, of course.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: Uh now you're messing with no, that's that's Nazareth.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: Crocus would be screaming in the night.
- 56:14SPEAKER_03: And Eat the Rich.
- 56:15SPEAKER_03: Not the Aerosmith song, but Yeah.
- 56:19SPEAKER_12: Oh, I get out of the sofa, it's just making the little girl dizzy.
- 56:23SPEAKER_12: So it looks like Will Smith.
- 56:25SPEAKER_12: Is that Will Smith?
- 56:26SPEAKER_05: Will I was young?
- 56:29SPEAKER_05: So much young.
- 56:31SPEAKER_05: That's not Will Smith.
- 56:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it is.
- 56:33SPEAKER_12: Is it?
- 56:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 56:35SPEAKER_12: Man, he looks like crap.
- 56:37SPEAKER_12: I know it's a it's a bit.
- 56:38SPEAKER_12: Did somebody slapped him?
- 56:39SPEAKER_12: It's a movie.
- 56:44SPEAKER_12: Why is he riding a bike in the middle of traffic?
- 56:47SPEAKER_12: Like going the opposite way of traffic.
- 56:51SPEAKER_12: What movie is this?
- 56:52SPEAKER_12: Is this a movie or is this a video?
- 56:54SPEAKER_12: No, it's a movie.
- 56:55SPEAKER_14: It's a movie.
- 56:56SPEAKER_14: I'm trying to find out what it is, but he's been in a couple movies that are very depressing.
- 57:03SPEAKER_14: Uh Will Smith?
- 57:04SPEAKER_14: No.
- 57:05SPEAKER_12: Uh I wonder if this is that one about um concussions in the NFL.
- 57:16SPEAKER_12: I don't think so.
- 57:20SPEAKER_12: Uh see this should have been in uh hitch.
- 57:26SPEAKER_12: The song?
- 57:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 57:27SPEAKER_12: Well, especially like like when uh, you know, uh you saw Hitch.
- 57:33SPEAKER_12: I did.
- 57:33SPEAKER_12: Uh, you know, like when that girl left Kevin James and you know, he he, you know, his wife was like, God, I hate you, you know.
- 57:43SPEAKER_12: You decide to give up the business.
- 57:44SPEAKER_12: This one per perfect for that.
- 57:45SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 57:46SPEAKER_12: I don't know what this is.
- 57:47SPEAKER_12: I have no idea what this movie is.
- 57:49SPEAKER_12: I don't know what this movie is either, but it looks depressing.
- 57:51SPEAKER_12: It does.
- 57:51SPEAKER_12: I mean, yeah.
- 57:52SPEAKER_12: Will Smith just should somebody should just slap him.
- 57:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 57:56SPEAKER_12: Just why are you making this movie, man?
- 57:58SPEAKER_03: Uh alright.
- 57:59SPEAKER_03: So let's see.
- 58:01SPEAKER_03: Time for climbing the wall.
- 58:03SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 58:03SPEAKER_12: I have I totally forgot.
- 58:04SPEAKER_12: I was engrossed in that Will Smith movie.
- 58:07SPEAKER_03: I have an album.
- 58:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 58:09SPEAKER_12: Let the Guessing begin.
- 58:11SPEAKER_12: Is it a band?
- 58:13SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 58:14SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure if we've done them before or not.
- 58:16SPEAKER_12: We'll find out.
- 58:20SPEAKER_12: Is it a rock band?
- 58:23SPEAKER_12: 80s rock.
- 58:24SPEAKER_12: 90s rock.
- 58:25SPEAKER_12: 80s.
- 58:25SPEAKER_12: 80s rock.
- 58:47SPEAKER_12: You don't have any questions?
- 58:50SPEAKER_12: You said yes.
- 58:54SPEAKER_12: That's a super group?
- 58:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 58:55SPEAKER_12: Is it damn Yankees?
- 58:57SPEAKER_12: No.
- 59:00SPEAKER_12: Supergroup from the 80s?
- 59:01SPEAKER_12: I think it was a supergroup, yeah.
- 59:03SPEAKER_12: Or is it um Michael Skanker the the uh uh you know MSG?
- 59:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, nope, nope.
- 59:16SPEAKER_03: Michael Schenker and uh and um Robin uh Macaulay.
- 59:20SPEAKER_03: Robin McCain.
- 59:21SPEAKER_03: Robin Gibbs?
- 59:21SPEAKER_03: That was MSG, yeah.
- 59:23SPEAKER_12: Macaulay's Schenker group.
- 59:24SPEAKER_12: Schenker group.
- 59:24SPEAKER_12: Robin Givens, wasn't she married in the I don't think she was in a super group?
- 59:28SPEAKER_12: I don't think she was married.
- 59:29SPEAKER_12: She wasn't even in a super marriage.
- 59:31SPEAKER_12: Um I think so.
- 59:37SPEAKER_12: You think so?
- 59:44SPEAKER_03: They put out two albums.
- 59:49SPEAKER_03: They put out two albums and then they went back to the research.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_03: So let's see two of the members were in a band together in the 70s.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_03: Actually, three.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_03: Three of the members and then uh and then one of those guys left that band and joined another band with another member.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_03: And then that band um kind of took a hiatus, so those two guys joined with another guy and the guy from his original 70s group and started this other band.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: And then when they reformed this th the the th the second band, they took this guy with them into this into this establishment.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_12: You have totally lost me.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_12: I don't even know which band we're which band you're talking about.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_12: I don't have a freaking clue.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_03: Uh let's see.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_03: What else can I say?
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_03: Um The lead singer of the band didn't like uh he thought it was syrupy music.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_03: Uh, which is kind of ironic because he went back to his uh solo career, which essentially was kind of syrupy music.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_03: Um The biggest hit was written by Diane Warren.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: She wrote a lot of them.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_03: Yes, she did.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_03: Um the name of the band.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: Two words.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_03: Two words.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: Um let's see.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: Uh two words.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_03: I think one of them is British.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_03: The rest of them are one of the words, or one of the people.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_03: I think all of all the rest of them are American.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure about the bass player.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_03: No, I think the bass player went on to play in uh decades, I think.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_03: So I don't know how else to tell you.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_03: Um the keyboard player and the lead singer were in a band together in the 70s.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_03: And then you had the guitar player.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_03: Um and uh and so the keyboard player and the singer.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_03: Um the keyboard player left the singer's band and joined another huge band uh in the early 80s.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_12: Wait, is this is this Mike and the Mechanics?
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_12: Nope.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_12: Is this Genesis?
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_12: Nope.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_12: Michael's?
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_12: Nope.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_12: Um this is like watching the Kardashian, man.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_12: I'm so lost in a soap opera.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_03: So I'll tell you, well, maybe this will help.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_03: So the current band are in the midst of so much drama right now.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_03: Two of the members are suing each other.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_03: Is it Journey?
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: That's the current band.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_12: So what is the super group?
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_12: I don't know what the super group was to do.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_12: Do I?
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_03: So who's in Journey right now?
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_03: So Jonathan Cain, Neil Sean, Dean Castrno.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_12: Oh, is this uh um uh Revolution Saints?
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: Nope.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_03: So is it Jonathan Cain and Neil Sean and Dean Castronovo?
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_12: They're all in the band together.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_03: They're all in the band together.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_03: And then the guy that the bass player that went to join Sticks, his name is Ricky Phillips.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_03: He's also in the super group.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_03: And the lead singer who said that this band's music was very syrupy and he wouldn't like it anymore, uh, had a huge hit in the early 80s.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_03: Um but he was the lead singer of the band from the 70s.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_03: His name is John Waite.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_12: Oh, is this bad English?
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_12: Bad English.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_12: That was a lot of work.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_03: That was a lot of work.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_12: It was a lot of work.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_12: Have we done bad English?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_12: Hell no.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_12: You think I want to go through that again?
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_03: Okay, this is how we were introduced to bad English.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_03: Yes, uh.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_03: Everybody knows this song.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_03: This is a Diane Warren song.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_06: Sometimes I want to out of it.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_03: I think I always thought it was funny that John Waite's like, I can't be bothered with that syrupy music.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_12: This is the guy that had missing you is his biggest thing.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_12: You know, he was Captain Syrup, right?
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_12: He was Anjamima.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_06: Sometimes it's teams let the twirls come to the end.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: So they had um There's no way to break in really two big songs from this debut album from 1989.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_02: Everybody knows this one.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_03: Um but I don't know if a lot of people I mean, I don't know how well the album did.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_03: But there's some rockin' tunes on this album.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_12: I honestly don't have this album.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_12: I only know this song.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_12: Or maybe the whatever the other song is, I might know that one.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, here's the other one.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_13: Okay, I don't know this song at all.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_13: Price of love.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_13: No clue.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_13: Alright, let me let me jump forward here.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_12: So this is the syrup that John Wade was talking about.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_12: So it was Dean Castronova, Jonathan Cain, and Neil Sean.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_12: Neil Sean, John Waite, and Ricky Phillips.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_12: Some random bass player named Ricky Phillips.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_12: So essentially, so is Journey and John.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_12: Wait, right.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_12: Well, that's why it was surprising.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_12: So you've never heard this song?
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_12: No, I haven't.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_12: Now that I I've heard I remember that part.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_12: I I have heard this song.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_12: I just didn't realize it was I thought it was a John Wade solo song.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_02: And this is this is the chorus.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_12: No, yeah.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_03: So I think a lot of people hear those songs, and that's what the band is to them.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_02: But yes, it's fun.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_02: It's good time.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_02: One thing that kind of takes away from it, and I don't mean take away from Jonathan Kane, but those cheesy 80s keyboards.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_12: Well, again, this just he comes from the band that made separate worlds.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he's playing a keyboard that's nailed to the wall of a warehouse, right?
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_12: You know, so you know, cheese is right up his ass.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_12: See, why didn't he release any of this?
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_12: I know.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_12: I would have been more into these guys.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_03: See, I mean it's it's it's great rock and roll.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_03: It is.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_12: But they didn't release any of this.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_12: No, they didn't.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_12: I have to agree with John Waite.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_12: Too much syrup.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_12: If I want syrup, I'll have pancakes.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_03: So um I do want to play you a couple of my favorite songs on this album.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_03: And yes, it's a little syrupy.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_03: But uh here's here's Alright, yeah, Jemima hit me.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_03: Okay, hold on.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_03: So the very first track I'm not crazy about because we were talking about that cheese.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_03: Just listen to the way the album starts.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_03: They should have they should have gone with a different opener.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: This is the album.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_12: Well, you you said this was 89.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_12: Why do why do I see a movie with John Q sack?
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_13: Exactly.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_13: Uh, and then they have this one.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_13: Heaven is a four letter word.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm not gonna play the whole song.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_03: I I do want to play a bit of my two favorite songs on the album, though.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_12: Oh, I thought those are it.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, those are just the openers.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_03: So this one, uh I really like.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_03: And yes, it's a ballad.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_03: It's called Possession.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_03: It's a little scary.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah, when you're possessed by a demon or something.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_12: That would be scary.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_12: I wouldn't write a song about it.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_12: My uh But the lyrics are like about demons?
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_12: No.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_06: I can't find so when you go away.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_06: Makes me wanna where you are.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_02: Like I'm possessed by you, or or you're my possession.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_02: Or something.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_02: So it is a demon.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_06: The shore has come too far.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_06: For the first time in my life.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_06: Feel a losing control.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah, see, it's about demons.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_06: It's about to Yeah, see?
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_12: It's about demons, man.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_12: You can't convince me otherwise.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_02: You can you can see why I like this.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a big chorus.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_02: It's a big chorus, yeah.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_02: And then there's this one.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_02: I just I dig this one.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_02: This is called Forget Me Not.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_12: Oh, I thought this was from Rocky.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_12: This one's about demons too.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_12: I think this whole album's about demons.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_12: Well, it is bad English.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_12: Well, see, there you go.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_12: Bad demons, English, English demons.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah, there we go.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_12: The tracks.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_03: So they did this album, which was their debut album, and then they had uh a second album, which uh didn't fare as well.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_12: Um because it was probably about demons too.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_03: I think everybody was sick of demons by then.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_03: I think I have that album, but I'm not sure where it is.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_03: It's not in my it's not in my iTunes.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_03: Uh but yeah, that and then they they parted ways after that.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_03: Of course, three of them went on to to be in Journey again, and John Waite back went back to his solo career.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_03: Ricky Phillips went to sticks.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_12: Well, no, they sacrificed Ricky Phillips to the devil.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_12: That's what happened.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_12: Has anybody heard from Ricky since?
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_03: Actually, I think Ricky Phillips just retired from the road.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_03: Oh, well, good for him.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_03: I'm pretty sure that's uh that was what I think that was probably part of his contract.
- 1:13:42unknown: I don't know.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_03: Uh okay, so that's it.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_03: That we climbed the wall of twos.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_03: The album is Bad English, their debut album from 1989.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they should read some of those uh rockers, man.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_03: What was wrong with those guys?
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_03: Uh it was the you know, it was the record company machine, I think is what it was.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_03: Well, of course it was.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_03: It was the 80s, man.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_03: Record company ran out.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_12: This is a hit.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_12: This is we're gonna have all this.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_12: This is this'll be a big prom song.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_12: And they were poisoned forever.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_12: And then then we were like, no, we want to play songs about demons.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_12: It'll sell.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_12: And then Slayer was like, hey, that's our thing.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_12: Bad English Slayer.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_03: You know, the same thing.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_03: Well, they should have gone on tour together.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_03: What did we what did we we talk?
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_12: Remember we talked about that?
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah, put Stryper and Slayer on tour.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_12: And then have uh uh Debbie Gibson and Tiffany open for them, and then at the end of the tour, they would sacrifice Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, the devil.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_12: Yeah, so yeah, it was it was remember we were gonna talk Patrick Patrick Mahones into it?
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_12: Because, you know, he just got that big contract.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_12: I don't remember what episode that was, but that was hilarious.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_12: First, second season.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_12: Uh that'd been first season.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that was great.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, something.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_12: That was fun.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_12: I gotta tell you the story though, before we go.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_12: Uh when I was researching my uh my uh uh mixtape song.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_12: I was actually gonna use a song from the movie Tombstone.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_12: Which is an awesome movie.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_12: I was gonna use this the music from that scene where Val Kilmer and uh Michael Bean are facing off as Johnny Ringo and Don Holiday and they have that duel.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_12: You've seen the movie.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_12: Uh-huh.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_12: I did not know that.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_12: Did you notice when Val Kilmer shot Michael Bean?
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_12: He shot him in the left side of his head.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_12: Johnny Ringo was a right-handed shooter.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_12: Doc Holiday was a doctor.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_12: He understood that if you shoot him in the left side of the brain, it will disfigure, it'll disarm his right side.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_12: But they didn't spell that out.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_12: They didn't spell that out, but I was somebody so it was in the comments of something, and I was like, oh my freaking word, I never even thought of that.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_12: Because like after he shoots him, he can't, he can't pick up his arm to shoot back.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_12: And I was like, because uh, you know, in the movie, Doc Holliday is like a crack shot.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_12: So why would he hit him in the left side of the head?
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_12: And I was like, I was uh, you know, it never really I thought it was odd.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_12: But I was just like, oh, well, you know, it is whatever.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_12: And then somebody brought that out.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_12: I was like, oh my freaking word.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_12: That makes so much sense.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_03: And for somebody to pick up on that too.
- 1:16:33SPEAKER_12: I know.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_12: I was like, this dude is a genius.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's impressive.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_12: I don't know who it was.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_12: Probably like some six-year-old kid.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_12: But I mean, I thought it was pretty amazing.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_12: I was like, wow, because it's one of my favorite movies of all time.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_03: Tombstone, yeah.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_03: So I was like, whoa.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_03: I was watching, what did I watch the other day?
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_03: It was an older movie.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_03: Uh crap.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_03: It was it was an older movie.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_03: What the heck was it?
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_03: Anyway, um it was a well-known movie.
- 1:17:05SPEAKER_03: And I think it was just on Pluto or something.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_03: And then I just kind of clicked it on watching it.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_03: And there's a uh guy um at l like uh I don't know if it's a war movie.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_03: Shoot, I wish I could remember what it was.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_03: This is the price you pay for being old.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_03: Uh old or new.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_03: Because it was just a couple days ago.
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_03: Um, but I'm watching it and you know, like um, not an air traffic controller, but just like uh like a um guy that's you know reporting to his uh to his uh commander, oh I see him, sir, he's off the radar, you know, that type of thing.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_03: I don't know if it was in a submarine or if it was in, I don't remember what it was, on a ship maybe.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_03: Um I don't know.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_03: But he's reporting to his commander, and it's a young um uh Cliff Cleveland from Cheers.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_03: And I but I'd never noticed him there before.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_03: That's funny.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I was like, holy cow, that's Cliff!
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_12: I I have been rewatching Cheers uh episodes.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_12: I have too.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_12: So funny.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_12: I have too.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_12: That was such a funny show.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_03: Uh did you know that Ted Danson and um uh Woody Harrelson have a podcast together?
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_03: I did not know that.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that must be amazing.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_03: And they reminisce well, it's it's Ted Danson uh and and somebody else.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_03: Uh it's their podcast, but Woody Harrelson is like he's there on most of the episodes.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_03: He's so it's like awesome.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they reminisce about Well, they're bringing back cheers.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_12: They're doing a reboot of cheers.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_12: It's just it's just Ted Danson and uh Woody Harrelson, but I think they're gonna have like, you know, George Went and all these guys come back.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_12: Like it's gonna be a cheers reboot.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_12: You're cheering on it.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_12: I think it's like it's like it's like when Fraser came back.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_12: Right?
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_12: It's gonna be like that.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_12: How is that going?
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_12: It's going good.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_12: They're making a second season of it.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_03: So I've not seen it yet.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_03: It's good.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_03: It's actually really good.
- 1:18:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've not seen it.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_03: What now where's that?
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_03: What is that on?
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_03: Is that on like a it's Paramount Plus.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_03: It is Paramount Plus.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_12: I'll have to look that up.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_12: I don't know where this Cheers one is gonna be.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_12: I I don't know if that's Paramount Plus or Peacock.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_12: Oh, it's on Peacock.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_03: You know, you gotta you gotta have the the same writers.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_03: You know, because I think it was the writers.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_03: I mean, as much as the ensemble cast was amazing, yeah.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_03: And the chemistry, but you gotta have the you gotta have the right material.
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_12: Well, Dave Angle wrote a lot of it.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he's dead now.
- 1:19:21SPEAKER_12: He was killed in the 9-11 tax.
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_12: He was on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade State.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah, because he was writing for Friends at the time.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_12: Oh, I never knew that.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_12: So um He did a lot of the writing for that show.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_12: Dang, I wish I could remember that movie.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_12: I when you were talking about that, all I could think of was uh did you you remember the movie Hotshots?
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_12: Where John Cryer is like the radar guy, and he's like trying to lead him in and then he sneezes all over the thing.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_12: He's like, oh my god, a dozen more.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_10: I forgot about that.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_12: That's all I can think about when you were talking about that.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_12: What?
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_12: Oh my god, a dozen more.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna that that's gonna that's gonna bug me.
- 1:20:01SPEAKER_03: If I I can't remember the the name of that movie.
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_03: Uh better of you.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_12: IMD uh IMDB to um John Ratzenberger.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I bet it would come right now.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_12: I bet it will.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_12: Do you want to do it right now?
- 1:20:12SPEAKER_12: Might as well.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_12: It's our podcast.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_12: We can do whatever we want.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_11: Exactly.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_11: Let me see.
- 1:20:17unknown: Ratzenberger.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_12: It's it's so funny because he wasn't he wasn't a regular on the show until like the second season.
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_12: And now he's just like, he just shows up randomly in all these uh Pixar movies.
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_12: He's always a different voice of a different character, but he's always the same guy.
- 1:20:33SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_12: But the dude is got so much work.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_12: He does, man.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_12: He's he's just making it work.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_03: Wow, he's got quite a he does have a long resume.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_03: Uh okay, so 76.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_03: Uh, let's see.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_03: Oh! It was Superman.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_12: Ow! I was gonna ask, because you were talking about because you watched Superman.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_03: It was Superman, and I wonder if it was Superman 2.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think because yeah, because Myra, my 10-year-old, had wanted to watch.
- 1:21:04SPEAKER_03: Remember, I was telling you what you want to watch.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_03: So she watched Superman, and the other day she's like, she we're she's looking for something.
- 1:21:09SPEAKER_03: She looks at me and she goes, Superman 2?
- 1:21:12SPEAKER_03: I said, okay, let's watch that.
