- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six fortys.
- 0:12Speaker 2: There are enough programs out there that I remember what
- 0:15Speaker 2: program they just spent a lot of money on, and
- 0:18Speaker 2: I think it was an arts program teaching people how
- 0:23Speaker 2: to paint for folks that have no arms or legs,
- 0:26Speaker 2: and that was a real big program. And do you
- 0:28Speaker 2: cut that. I don't know. They really don't have that program,
- 0:32Speaker 2: by the way, I was just pointing something out.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And now Handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:39Speaker 1: Bill Handle.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Good morning. It is a Thursday morning, June twenty five,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and today is a national June twenty five day, which
- 1:00Speaker 2: we celebrate and I'm very happy to do so. I
- 1:03Speaker 2: don't know what other days there are. The days there
- 1:05Speaker 2: are National cockroach Day, National there's always a list, a
- 1:08Speaker 2: huge list of the days. Don't even know. Some of
- 1:12Speaker 2: them are downright stupid, and some of them are even
- 1:16Speaker 2: more stupid than that. All right, quick hello to one
- 1:20Speaker 2: and all, Good morning, cono, good morning.
- 1:23Speaker 3: And I said, is a national catfish Day, a bomb
- 1:25Speaker 3: pop Day and handshake Day?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Wow bomb pops?
- 1:31Speaker 4: You know the ones that are red, white and blue
- 1:32Speaker 4: and they look like they're like.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Oh those yeah, National Bomb Pops Day, and then National
- 1:37Speaker 2: shake your Hands Day and then National Cooties Day because
- 1:40Speaker 2: you get someone else shaking hands. Yeah, I get that,
- 1:44Speaker 2: uh National fist bump Day.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Leon, but it's like the Hearts and Crabs Leo with
- 1:53Speaker 3: a Leon. Oh, it's Noel backwards. So it's like cap
- 1:59Speaker 3: way to christ Us six.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Well there you go. Okay, I'm more right than not.
- 2:07Speaker 2: National Thursday, June twenty five day. Okay, good morning, Amy,
- 2:13Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 2:13Speaker 4: It's also my best friend's birthday. Happy birthday, Amy b.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Oh, it's so sweet. A shout out for Amy b.
- 2:20Speaker 4: You know what else, boys, it's a six year anniversary
- 2:24Speaker 4: of the day that I got the big sea ripped
- 2:28Speaker 4: out of my body. Thank god.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Oh that's a good one.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Okay, Oh annivers.
- 2:33Speaker 2: That is a real, legitimate, legitimate celebration of a day. Birthdays.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I've always had a tough time because, boy, what an
- 2:40Speaker 2: accomplishment birthdays are? You were born and you know, not
- 2:45Speaker 2: receive the Nobel Prize, not graduating from college, not getting
- 2:49Speaker 2: a great job, which is you know, it's some accomplishment.
- 2:52Speaker 2: But birthdays there you go, the day you were put
- 2:56Speaker 2: on this earth. Good morning, Amy, thank you, Good morning,
- 3:00Speaker 2: and good morning, Anne, Good morning. Oh you sounds so excited.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Will is not here. He's still on vacation and Neil
- 3:09Speaker 2: he talked to me last night. Anne was very funny,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you know, she says, Oh, that's so sweet of you
- 3:15Speaker 2: to talk to Neil and see how I was doing.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Matter I said, he called me, Oh, of course, why
- 3:23Speaker 2: would I think that you actually any case, he is.
- 3:28Speaker 2: He's coming back on Monday. He has some tests and
- 3:32Speaker 2: there's some dehydration going on as a result of his
- 3:34Speaker 2: bariatric surgery. He is particularly susceptible to complications. Nothing ever shattering,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and it's not like he's in trouble or anything, but
- 3:42Speaker 2: just you know, some complications and the doctors wanted just
- 3:45Speaker 2: to relax, and it's very difficult to relax on this show,
- 3:49Speaker 2: to say the least. Tonight, the US plays Turkey. Yeah.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I saw Brazil play Scotland where everybody, all the Scots
- 4:00Speaker 2: got drunk and they bore the day, party and story
- 4:04Speaker 2: after story about Scott's partying. And I don't think they're
- 4:08Speaker 2: partying anymore. Maybe they do, maybe they don't care. They're here,
- 4:10Speaker 2: they're having a ripwaring good time. They're drinking like crazy
- 4:14Speaker 2: and My daughter is going to Scotland. Did I tell
- 4:16Speaker 2: you she's going to school in Scotland. She is going
- 4:20Speaker 2: to university, a University of Abertay in Dundee. And Dundee,
- 4:30Speaker 2: now you know how cold Scotland is. Scotland is really
- 4:34Speaker 2: cold because it's pretty high up in terms of the latitude,
- 4:40Speaker 2: the latitudes of this earth. Dundee is at the top
- 4:44Speaker 2: of Scotland. It's right next to the North Pole effectively,
- 4:49Speaker 2: and she is going to freeze her buns off, coming
- 4:53Speaker 2: from southern California and moving into one of the most
- 4:57Speaker 2: frigid places on Earth. Well, not quite, but it get
- 5:02Speaker 2: pretty cool to say the least. Okay, guys, are you
- 5:04Speaker 2: ready to do it? And we have some bad news
- 5:08Speaker 2: and we will start with handle on the news. It's
- 5:11Speaker 2: Amy and Me until Monday, and let's do it. Lead story,
- 5:16Speaker 2: get a massive earthquake in Venezuela, actually two earthquakes, one
- 5:24Speaker 2: following the other one. So far, it's reported one hundred
- 5:27Speaker 2: and sixty four people who have been killed and nine
- 5:29Speaker 2: hundred and seventy one injured. And they started just started
- 5:32Speaker 2: to count the injured and the dead. What is interesting
- 5:37Speaker 2: and unusual about this earthquake? It was a seven point
- 5:40Speaker 2: two magnitude earthquake, and then the aftershock, which usually goes
- 5:45Speaker 2: down substantially, went up to seven point five. And you
- 5:50Speaker 2: think it's only three points of just three points or
- 5:55Speaker 2: three tenths of a point. I think it goes up
- 5:59Speaker 2: a thousand degrees of magnitude magnitude, or certainly one hundred,
- 6:03Speaker 2: because every point just goes up and up and up
- 6:05Speaker 2: and up, so when they get.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Pretty increases exponentially instead of what's the other part I'm
- 6:12Speaker 4: looking for?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Do I have that any new numbers as far as
- 6:16Speaker 2: the deaths are concerned.
- 6:18Speaker 4: No, we're at one sixty four now and almost a
- 6:21Speaker 4: thousand hurt. But they're also they're using their hands and
- 6:25Speaker 4: heavy equipment to dig through the rubble because there are
- 6:27Speaker 4: people underneath yelling and calling for help.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I mean, the United States is sending crews out there.
- 6:33Speaker 2: You'll see cruise from Israel probably going countries first world
- 6:39Speaker 2: countries that have experience with earthquakes and natural disasters, and
- 6:44Speaker 2: the US is one of them. So first responders are
- 6:46Speaker 2: going down there to help.
- 6:47Speaker 4: We got teams from LA going.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely, they have cadaver dogs coming down. I've always
- 6:52Speaker 2: wondered about cadaver dogs because it's it's pretty rough to
- 6:56Speaker 2: drag those those dead dogs across the rubble stop.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Okay, moving on, it's finally out. The fire that has
- 7:09Speaker 4: been burning at a warehouse and boil heights for more
- 7:11Speaker 4: than a week is out. LA Fire officials say the
- 7:16Speaker 4: knockdown was declared at about six pm. Cruis are now
- 7:20Speaker 4: transitioning to what they're calling an overhaul phase. They're going
- 7:24Speaker 4: to be searching the nearly five hundred thousand square foot
- 7:27Speaker 4: cold storage facility to find any hidden embers, to put
- 7:30Speaker 4: out any hotspots, and remove smoldering debris. Apparently there is
- 7:35Speaker 4: still smoldering debris but no active flame. And then drones
- 7:38Speaker 4: with infrared cameras are flying around to identify hidden heat
- 7:42Speaker 4: sources and allow crews to precisely direct high volume water streams.
- 7:49Speaker 2: You wonder what is in what was in this cold
- 7:53Speaker 2: storage facility that caused a week long fire, Well, it's
- 7:58Speaker 2: half a million square feet, it's enormous and cold storage.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's food that they had in there, and what is
- 8:07Speaker 2: it that burned for a week now? Granted, I mean
- 8:09Speaker 2: there are some upside. It's going to be the world's
- 8:11Speaker 2: biggest barbecue. That is going to come as a result
- 8:15Speaker 2: of this, but I don't get where and what burned
- 8:19Speaker 2: for a week.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Well, part of it was they couldn't get inside to
- 8:24Speaker 4: put anything out. And you've got all that insulation because
- 8:27Speaker 4: it's a cold storage facility, and they literally had to
- 8:30Speaker 4: fight it from outside because the structure is compromised, and
- 8:35Speaker 4: because they've got these fifty five foot towers or storage
- 8:40Speaker 4: racks kind of like what you see at Costco, but
- 8:42Speaker 4: a lot taller, and they were literally according to Captain
- 8:46Speaker 4: Robbie with LA Fire, who I talked to, said that
- 8:49Speaker 4: those storage racks were literally holding parts of the roof
- 8:52Speaker 4: up and it's just too dangerous to go in.
- 8:54Speaker 2: All right, That answers that question, understood, Thank you for that.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Not so fast, Okay, not so fast, President and me.
- 9:08Speaker 4: President Trump has canceled a planned signing ceremony for a
- 9:11Speaker 4: landmark housing affordability bill. It passed both houses of Congress
- 9:18Speaker 4: in a bipartisan fashion with large majorities. He says he
- 9:24Speaker 4: doesn't want to sign that legislation until lawmakers passed an
- 9:28Speaker 4: elections bill known as the Save America Act, and he
- 9:31Speaker 4: posted on social media seeing today's housing news conference and
- 9:34Speaker 4: signing is hereby canceled until such time as we pass
- 9:38Speaker 4: the desperately needed Save America Act, which I consider to
- 9:41Speaker 4: be a national emergency.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, far more than housing, which he called a minor act.
- 9:49Speaker 2: How to make it make housing more affordable? A couple
- 9:52Speaker 2: things about this. This shows absolute fealty to the president
- 9:58Speaker 2: is necessary in the republic Party, fealty and I wonder
- 10:04Speaker 2: if this is going to continue on after the mid terms.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I don't know that answer. And the argument is housing
- 10:11Speaker 2: is not as important as the Voter Act, where illegal
- 10:16Speaker 2: undocumented voters by the tens of millions are voting and
- 10:22Speaker 2: have put are putting the Democrats in all the Democrats
- 10:26Speaker 2: that have won in the anti Trump Democrats that have
- 10:30Speaker 2: won are the vote has been rigged across the board.
- 10:36Speaker 2: And we're going to hear that again. Rigged, rigged, rigged, rigged.
- 10:40Speaker 2: How is it that no Republican party or no Republican
- 10:43Speaker 2: vote has been rigged. Ever, there's no such thing as
- 10:47Speaker 2: a Republican rigging a an election, even when the Republican
- 10:54Speaker 2: goes wins in a Democratic in a Democratic congressional congressional
- 10:59Speaker 2: district or a seat. Well, no, I do get it,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and it's it's hard to believe, and as he said,
- 11:09Speaker 2: the party is unified, and it is. The party is
- 11:11Speaker 2: unified to anything he has to say. So, of course,
- 11:14Speaker 2: the people that voted, the four Republicans that voted in
- 11:18Speaker 2: favor of the War Powers Resolution Act, have come back
- 11:23Speaker 2: in the afternoon, voted in the morning, changed their minds
- 11:26Speaker 2: in the afternoon after Trump said I want it changed. Okay.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Venezuela wasn't the only place shaking. There were some injuries reported,
- 11:38Speaker 4: not major injuries. But a magnitude five point six earthquake
- 11:42Speaker 4: hit northern California yesterday morning. It centered near Willits, which
- 11:49Speaker 4: is north of u Kay. It's about two two and
- 11:51Speaker 4: a half hours northeast of San Francisco, in a relatively
- 11:55Speaker 4: unpopulated area. About a dozen after shocks have rumbled through
- 11:59Speaker 4: the area, but most of them were under a two
- 12:01Speaker 4: point five. The Mendocino County Executive Office says that there
- 12:04Speaker 4: have been some injuries but no deaths.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to find out. It's a massive, massive earthquake,
- 12:13Speaker 2: and far more than anything would happen here, particularly in
- 12:17Speaker 2: southern California, because the building codes there were not were
- 12:21Speaker 2: not at the same level. One of the things about
- 12:23Speaker 2: southern California, La Orange County. Is that as expensive as
- 12:28Speaker 2: housing is to build, part of that is probably some
- 12:32Speaker 2: of the strictest earthquake resistant building that you can do.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And that is good news on our side.
- 12:40Speaker 4: And we've talked to like earthquake retrofitters. It's not that expensive.
- 12:46Speaker 4: One of the big things is just bolting down your
- 12:49Speaker 4: house to the foundation so it doesn't bounce off.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I had a duplex. I had a building in Hancock
- 12:57Speaker 2: Park adjacent before the Persian Palace, and it was a
- 13:01Speaker 2: building that was built nineteen twenty seven. It was beautiful.
- 13:04Speaker 2: It was not bolted down. In an earthquake. It could
- 13:07Speaker 2: literally just slip three inches and the house is gone,
- 13:12Speaker 2: has to be destroyed. They just it just sat on
- 13:15Speaker 2: the foundation and we bolted it down with nice big bolts,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and then we put in something called the creep wall,
- 13:23Speaker 2: which describes people who live in the house, and it
- 13:26Speaker 2: was perfect for us. Actually that's not true. A creep
- 13:30Speaker 2: wall is the part for the foundation and where the
- 13:35Speaker 2: house really started being built about three four feet so
- 13:38Speaker 2: people didn't get under the house. That has to be
- 13:41Speaker 2: reinforced because that was a weak point. And I did both.
- 13:44Speaker 2: And you're right, it's not that expensive. It was about
- 13:47Speaker 2: three thirty five hundred dollars. I mean, it was not inexpensive.
- 13:50Speaker 2: This was a long time ago. But you know, it's
- 13:53Speaker 2: certainly less money than the house being destroyed simply by
- 13:57Speaker 2: slipping off the foundation.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Jade takes the chair andres Chate has been named superintendent
- 14:05Speaker 4: of the La School District, just three days after Alberto
- 14:10Speaker 4: Carvallo resigned cours he's being investigated by the FBI. The
- 14:13Speaker 4: Board of Education announced its unanimous decision yesterday. Jade has
- 14:19Speaker 4: been serving as the acting superintendent since February twenty seventh,
- 14:22Speaker 4: just two days after the FBI raided the home and
- 14:26Speaker 4: office of his predecessor Carvolo. All right, not much to say, Uh,
- 14:31Speaker 4: Mayor Bass is bringing in the big guns. So the
- 14:34Speaker 4: story starts by saying the top strategist for La Mayor
- 14:37Speaker 4: Bass's reelection bid has left the campaign. Apparently they had
- 14:41Speaker 4: some strategic differences. Doug Herman has worked with Bas since
- 14:45Speaker 4: twenty twenty one, and already he's been replaced by Julie
- 14:49Speaker 4: Chavez Rodriguez. She was the campaign manager for Joe Biden
- 14:54Speaker 4: and Kamala Harris presidential campaigns in twenty twenty four. That's
- 14:58Speaker 4: a pretty big gun for.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's being done. So she's unhappy with where she's
- 15:02Speaker 2: going on this one because she's is relatively in trouble
- 15:08Speaker 2: for an incumbent mayor, a Democratic incumbent mayor.
- 15:12Speaker 4: It looks like some vaccinations will be required for recruits.
- 15:16Speaker 4: The Pentagon says boot camps for all military services are
- 15:20Speaker 4: once again requiring a flu vaccination for all recruits. Defense
- 15:25Speaker 4: Secretary Pete Hegseth made the shot optional for the military
- 15:29Speaker 4: at the end of April, but the development of the
- 15:32Speaker 4: reinstatement of the requirement comes emit a growing week's long
- 15:35Speaker 4: flu outbreak at the US Air Force's boot camp at
- 15:38Speaker 4: Lachlan Air Force Base. About three hundred people have gotten sick.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the problem when people are not vaccinated, what
- 15:46Speaker 2: they are not vaccinated for tends to come roaring back. Oh,
- 15:51Speaker 2: like the measles. That's a little problematic. And so this
- 15:56Speaker 2: one was the flu. Where you know, they're they're close together,
- 16:02Speaker 2: their their immune system. We're talking about boot campers. It's
- 16:08Speaker 2: a tough place to be and so you know they
- 16:10Speaker 2: all live in very close proximity with each other. Some
- 16:15Speaker 2: of the gay recruits sleep in the same bed together. Okay,
- 16:20Speaker 2: I think that's the case. Yeah, that's probably true.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Not so much.
- 16:24Speaker 2: It's a it's a don ass, don't tell, and so
- 16:29Speaker 2: so there it is. Hey, why are you two sleeping
- 16:31Speaker 2: in the same bed? I won't tell.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Getting gassed by a I. A group of drivers in
- 16:42Speaker 4: California has filed a lawsuit accusing some of the big
- 16:45Speaker 4: gas companies of using artificial intelligence to keep pump prices high.
- 16:49Speaker 4: The proposed class action lawsuit alleges that BP, Circle, K
- 16:55Speaker 4: seven Eleven, Walmart, Marathon Petroleum, and Albertson all use the
- 16:59Speaker 4: same AI powered tool from a company called Calibrate. According
- 17:04Speaker 4: to the lawsuit, the software pulls in data from competing
- 17:07Speaker 4: stations and recommends prices. The lawsuit alleges the shared software
- 17:12Speaker 4: let the company's prices move higher all together.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Big problem with the shermin Anti High Trust Act here,
- 17:19Speaker 2: A big one, because you're not allowed to have collusion.
- 17:23Speaker 2: And that's exactly what this is about. And it doesn't
- 17:26Speaker 2: matter how you get there either, whether you have the
- 17:29Speaker 2: executives sitting in a boardroom talking to each other, oh,
- 17:32Speaker 2: let's talk, let's price gas at this at this point,
- 17:35Speaker 2: or using AI it really doesn't matter. Okay, Moving on
- 17:40Speaker 2: a bit.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Hot under the collar, President Trump apparently be rated Senate
- 17:46Speaker 4: Republicans face to face for allowing a vote to block
- 17:51Speaker 4: the war in around the War Resolution Act. That, of course,
- 17:56Speaker 4: further escalates a feud that has diverted Republican efforts to
- 18:00Speaker 4: focus on election year affordability issues. Senator Rick Scott invited
- 18:06Speaker 4: President Trump to speak at a GOP luncheon at the Capitol,
- 18:10Speaker 4: and he said he was going to use that time
- 18:13Speaker 4: for a closed door meeting to push senators to pass
- 18:15Speaker 4: his proof of Citizenship voting bill, But the conversation was
- 18:19Speaker 4: more focused on the vote to approve the War Powers Resolution,
- 18:23Speaker 4: and apparently he and Cassidy got into it.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Yeah, they're screaming at each other, and that usually you
- 18:29Speaker 2: don't scream at the president, but this one was a
- 18:33Speaker 2: screaming match. However, Cassidy later on changed his vote, and
- 18:40Speaker 2: again it's the fealty that the Republicans must have towards
- 18:45Speaker 2: the president must and Cassidy will no longer be a
- 18:48Speaker 2: senator come January first, because Trump was able to primary.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Him out, then why would he care?
- 18:58Speaker 2: Cassidy, I don't know, you got me.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Maybe Trump made a good argument.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah maybe, and that's exactly what Cassidy said, I just
- 19:06Speaker 2: need more information, and he said he got it.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Yeah, we don't know.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I think yeah. I think one of the complaints about
- 19:15Speaker 2: the way Trump is handling this is not necessarily that
- 19:18Speaker 2: he should or should not have for the War Powers Act,
- 19:21Speaker 2: is that he is not telling Congress or the American
- 19:23Speaker 2: people why, what, where? Well, where is easy? Or how
- 19:28Speaker 2: long this is going to be? We don't know at
- 19:31Speaker 2: this point.
- 19:34Speaker 4: The Boys in Blue make good on a pledge. The
- 19:38Speaker 4: Dodgers have fulfilled a pledge to donate one point one
- 19:42Speaker 4: million dollars. It goes to the California Community Foundation and
- 19:47Speaker 4: Labor Community Services. It's direct financial assistance for families of
- 19:51Speaker 4: immigrants impacted by ICE activities in the region. Joseph Thomas McKellar,
- 19:57Speaker 4: who's the executive director of Pico, California, and he says,
- 20:00Speaker 4: the Dodgers have been in LA for sixty eight years.
- 20:03Speaker 4: They're beloved among immigrant communities in a way no other
- 20:07Speaker 4: sports team is. That gives the Dodgers cultural and financial
- 20:10Speaker 4: power in the region. He says, we applaud what they did,
- 20:13Speaker 4: but they could do even more by exercising some leadership.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Hmm. Now this I think is going to end because
- 20:20Speaker 2: I think the President is moving to have the Dodgers
- 20:23Speaker 2: declared illegal. He is not no more Dodgers. There again,
- 20:28Speaker 2: just being Dodgers is against the law. Okay, I'm being ridiculous.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Thank you for point. I know, I know, I just
- 20:36Speaker 2: I always take a cheap shot when I can really
- 20:40Speaker 2: really Oh, great story, and thank you for putting this
- 20:44Speaker 2: in in the pile, because this one's just for me.
- 20:47Speaker 4: I wonder if he had some kianti with this.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Oo.
- 20:52Speaker 4: A Hungarian hospital worker allegedly put human remains on the menu.
- 20:57Speaker 4: He's thirty years old. Someone got it. He was a
- 21:02Speaker 4: Police were given a tip that he was stashing human
- 21:05Speaker 4: body parts, so they searched his apartment and say that
- 21:10Speaker 4: they found a gruesome collection that included skulls, a human hand,
- 21:15Speaker 4: a full lower leg, and even a reconstructed face made
- 21:19Speaker 4: from human skin. But the most stomach turning allegation came
- 21:23Speaker 4: during questioning, when police say the guy admitted to them
- 21:25Speaker 4: that he was fascinated by human body parts and confessed
- 21:28Speaker 4: to preparing meals from some of the remains before eating them.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Ooh remains, I know favorite meal, spaghetti and peace walls. Okay,
- 21:45Speaker 2: moving on, looks like where was Sam oh Man?
- 21:53Speaker 4: Looks like there were some back room talks. President Trump
- 21:56Speaker 4: spoke personally with the CEO of Live Nation in the
- 22:00Speaker 4: weeks leading up to the Justice Department's decision to abruptly
- 22:03Speaker 4: settle its long standing anti trust lawsuit against the entertainment
- 22:07Speaker 4: giant and it's Ticketmasters subsidiary that was revealed in a
- 22:11Speaker 4: court filing. Lawyers for Live Nation told the court Monday
- 22:14Speaker 4: that Trump and the company CEO, Michael Rappino, spoke about
- 22:18Speaker 4: the anti trust lawsuit in February, but says they didn't
- 22:22Speaker 4: discuss substantive terms of any potential settlement.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Now, Trump does talk to CEOs of companies all the time,
- 22:30Speaker 2: so this could be innocent. However, it doesn't look like this.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I mean, the optics are not very good. The Justice
- 22:39Speaker 2: Department files antitrust, a phone call is made, and the
- 22:47Speaker 2: anti trust lawsuit is dropped. Seems like a lot of
- 22:52Speaker 2: the paramount Sky Sky Dance lawsuit and that went through.
- 22:57Speaker 2: So the optics, the optics, said best, are not good
- 23:02Speaker 2: and at worst a straight out collusion, straight out you
- 23:06Speaker 2: dropped this suit. And this is what I'll give you,
- 23:07Speaker 2: although we don't know what Trump would be getting or
- 23:11Speaker 2: he's just doing this is a philosophy. I don't know
- 23:14Speaker 2: at this point. And do you know where I think
- 23:18Speaker 2: is happening, because there's too many of these conversations going
- 23:20Speaker 2: on where lawsuits and you've got various actions against companies
- 23:26Speaker 2: just straight out dropped.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Okay, a blue collar boost goes bust. A plan to
- 23:32Speaker 4: set a twenty eight dollars minimum wage for some California
- 23:36Speaker 4: home builders when put when the industrial or the influation,
- 23:42Speaker 4: let me start that over, when the influential trades union
- 23:45Speaker 4: protested it could undermine prevailing wage rates.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty eight million dollar minimum wage. And the unions
- 23:52Speaker 2: are against a twenty eight dollars minimum wage.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Yeah, they just said it would be too high, and
- 24:00Speaker 4: they would have gotten it was an assembly bill would
- 24:02Speaker 4: fast track approval of townhouses and then an approved in
- 24:07Speaker 4: response to that or in exchange for that, the builders
- 24:10Speaker 4: would then have to agree to pay a higher wage
- 24:13Speaker 4: to the workers.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah. What it did is go against what the union wanted,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and that's prevailing wage for any particular job or industry.
- 24:23Speaker 2: And they're saying it would undercot undercut wages that are
- 24:26Speaker 2: higher than that, and that's why they're against it.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Really strange, Well, would it make everybody because of their costs?
- 24:33Speaker 4: Maybe the people who are making higher wages would get
- 24:35Speaker 4: their wages lowered to procact the otherwise.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, because prevailing wage is no longer the issue here. Yeah.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Another top general is retiring early. Four star Army general
- 24:50Speaker 4: apparently highly respected, is stepping down from his post commanding
- 24:54Speaker 4: soldiers in Europe and will retire as he has thus
- 24:58Speaker 4: far not been nominated for an new job that is
- 25:01Speaker 4: consistent with his rank by Defense Secretary Pete HeiG Seth.
- 25:05Speaker 4: It's General Christopher Donna Hugh. He's the commander of US
- 25:09Speaker 4: Army Europe and Africa. He's stepping down from command July second.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Multiple sources told CNN there has been tension between Heigsa's
- 25:19Speaker 4: office and Donna Hugh's office or command. Rather, No, though
- 25:22Speaker 4: not necessarily between the two directly.
- 25:25Speaker 2: It's a HeiG Seth is just cleaning house with senior
- 25:29Speaker 2: members of the military and the rest. They're scared to death. Now.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I don't know about the rumor that the general has
- 25:38Speaker 2: just bought the Subway sandwich franchise and that's where he's moving,
- 25:44Speaker 2: But yeah, we don't know. Let's see, that's really not true.
- 25:49Speaker 2: All right, that was see how what I did without Amy?
- 25:53Speaker 4: I'm trying to figure out what you did with that one?
- 25:56Speaker 2: It was well, I could have been to McDonald's.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, I.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Mean, you know, any franchise could be a seven eleven.
- 26:07Speaker 2: But I don't think I don't think that the General
- 26:12Speaker 2: Donahue speaks FARSI. So seven eleven is off the table.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Some stinks here?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Is it?
- 26:18Speaker 4: The food in the US. Apparently there's a little controversy
- 26:22Speaker 4: going on because Norway brought its own food to the
- 26:25Speaker 4: World Cup, and so is like, why what's going on?
- 26:30Speaker 4: Why won't you eat the US food? It's true that
- 26:33Speaker 4: the team did ship some products from Norway for the
- 26:36Speaker 4: World Cup, but the reason has nothing to do with
- 26:39Speaker 4: safety or quality. Apparently, so the claim is that the
- 26:42Speaker 4: Norwegian men's soccer team brought its own food to FIFA
- 26:46Speaker 4: World Cup because it doesn't trust the quality of the
- 26:48Speaker 4: food in the US. But the team is saying, hey,
- 26:51Speaker 4: we brought our own food because we want to keep
- 26:53Speaker 4: consistency in our players' diets. Nutrition experts say that that
- 26:57Speaker 4: kind of practice is common among elite athletes who play internationally.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Norwegian brown cheese have no idea what it's like. Yarlsbird
- 27:07Speaker 2: cheese is great. You know what they eat Norway? They
- 27:10Speaker 2: eat whale in Norway. Norway is one of the few
- 27:14Speaker 2: countries that is not a signatory to the International Convention
- 27:18Speaker 2: on Whale. On Whaling, I've had whale.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Is it good? I would imagine it's fatty.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I know, not even a little bit. It's the other
- 27:29Speaker 2: way around, because blubber is on the outside of the whale.
- 27:32Speaker 2: The meat itself has virtually no fat. Is the way.
- 27:37Speaker 2: When I was eating it, all I could think of
- 27:38Speaker 2: was free willie. But it's whale is and it's very
- 27:42Speaker 2: difficult to cook because there is zero fat in there,
- 27:46Speaker 2: so it overcooks instantly. Yeah, it's like beef that's been
- 27:52Speaker 2: sitting next to liver in the refrigerator for a while.
- 27:56Speaker 2: It's not liver, but it's sort of kind of liver ish. Yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I didn't particularly like it. I'm not a big fan
- 28:04Speaker 2: of liver or kidneys. Neil is a fan of kidneys.
- 28:10Speaker 4: But let's see a one.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, let's what don't we just get out of here?
- 28:14Speaker 2: What do you think? Yeah? And then we're going to
- 28:17Speaker 2: talk about the high housing bill the President refused to sign,
- 28:22Speaker 2: and it was a bipartisan bill and a little bit
- 28:24Speaker 2: of politics coming up. Kf I am sixty. You've been
- 28:28Speaker 2: listening to the Bill Handle Show. Catch my Show Monday
- 28:31Speaker 2: through Friday, six am to nine am, and anytime on
