- 0:23can't win the big game, Michael Jordan said.

- 2:21com. I will say this for all the fans
- 2:23out there, the football season is almost over and there's Joe
- 2:27Burrow story and we're going to get into a little a little bit
- 2:29later. I definitely want to speak about
- 2:31some of the things that Joe Burrow has said over the last 24
- 2:36to 48 hours, which is pretty alarming to me if I'm a
- 2:38Cincinnati Bengals fan. He doesn't, even though he says
- 2:42he believes he will be playing for the Cincinnati Bengals next
- 2:46year. A lot of the inside sources and
- 2:49friends and family have said that he is not very happy with
- 2:53the organization. It doesn't like what the
- 2:54organization has done in the past couple of years, especially
- 2:57protecting him. The offensive line has been
- 3:00horrendous and he's been hit more than any quarterback in the
- 3:04last Four Seasons. He also hasn't played as much as
- 3:07every single quarterback because every other year he's hurt.
- 3:10So I you can tell that Joe Burrow is he's in that state of
- 3:15mind. Where is the Bengals, the
- 3:18organization who wants to finish his career with?
- 3:20Or is he going to do an Andrew Luck where he just decides to
- 3:23walk away from the sport and the game and he doesn't feel like he
- 3:26needs to prove himself anymore as a professional athlete.
- 3:29So I don't know what Joe Burrow is going to be planning to do in
- 3:33the near future, but over the offseason, ladies and gentlemen,
- 3:37I'm interested to see how Cincinnati is going to react to
- 3:40it. Zach Taylor, is he going to keep
- 3:43his job with the, you know, back-to-back years of just not
- 3:46making the playoffs? And, and really an organization
- 3:50that at one point was one of the best teams in the AFC, one of
- 3:53the up and coming teams they had, they have the offensive
- 3:56rookie of the year. They had a team that went all
- 3:58the way to the Super Bowl and fell short against the Rams.
- 4:01And now you have your quarterback not very happy with
- 4:03the organization. Not really.
- 4:05The perspective of the organization is, is the the GM
- 4:10has no idea what he's doing. He loves the coach and I think
- 4:14he believes that the coach is going to get let go.
- 4:16And, and if that happens, does he want to be there?
- 4:20Because the organization has been not a successful 1 and in
- 4:25the last time. But besides this run that they
- 4:28made a couple of years ago into the Super Bowl, the last time
- 4:31they went to the Super Bowl was with Boomerasiasen against the
- 4:3549ers. It has been a long, long time
- 4:37since the the lonely Cincinnati Bengals have really got gotten
- 4:42over the hump and and to have a quarterback of this magnitude.
- 4:45They did have one they had as a Heisman Trophy winning Carlson
- 4:48Palmer who ran himself out of Cincinnati after what, 5-6
- 4:53years? So and what where we are, where
- 4:55we at right now with Joe Burrow? He's been about 5-6 years in the
- 4:59mix with this team, this organization.
- 5:00Is it 5 or 6 years BT or is it 76?
- 5:03It's six years. So this is about the time that
- 5:06Carlson Parma decided to part ways with the Cincinnati
- 5:09Bengals. And he came out and said at his
- 5:11press conference at the end of the season is I don't know if I
- 5:14even want to play anymore. And if I do, I don't want to be
- 5:16playing for this organization. So it's alarming to me.
- 5:19If you're an any Cincinnati Bengal fan that's listening to
- 5:22the show right now, I feel for you because I've been a Jet fan
- 5:25my whole life, my whole life, and I've been waiting to get a
- 5:29quarterback of this magnitude. And now you have a quarterback
- 5:32that you believed was going to be your franchise.
- 5:35He's fairly young. He's only 2829 years old, still
- 5:39has his whole career. He's at the prime of his career
- 5:42as a quarterback and he doesn't want to be there anymore.
- 5:44He's at his wit's end with the organization and that's alarming
- 5:48to me. So hopefully, hopefully very,
- 5:51very soon. And Speedy, stop typing.
- 5:53It's annoying. You're terrible at it.
- 5:57I will say this. When you, when you look at the
- 5:59organization and where the organization is, you would worry
- 6:02that your best player, your franchise quarterback does not
- 6:05want to be there and you just overpaid Jamar Chase and T
- 6:08Higgins and you have no defense. You have no future there because
- 6:12Trey Hendrickson is going to be a free free agent in the
- 6:14offseason and your number one draft pick was a pass rusher who
- 6:18looks like he's going to be a bust.
- 6:20So it to me, it's just everything is falling apart
- 6:23right in front of the Bengals eyes and they're turning into
- 6:26that franchise again that can never get over the hump.
- 6:28So very interesting. But Jabba, how's the weather
- 6:31over there in the one and only Nebraska?
- 6:34Well, it's it's a little bit chillier now, but we get through
- 6:38the weekend and then it's supposed to be back in the mid
- 6:4050s. So that's the, like I said, the
- 6:43epitome of what I've said before in the bipolarness of what
- 6:46Nebraska weather is. So, yeah, now been a busy day.
- 6:50Got a great workout with Carter in today.
- 6:52Got to do some business stuff that is literally might pull me
- 6:56away for a minute. But just one of those days where
- 7:00you know, when, when things fall into place and, and you know,
- 7:02the right people and, and you get into the right, you know,
- 7:06realm of, of what your what your lane is and, and, and get a
- 7:10meet, like I said, those right people and, and have the
- 7:13connections and some really cool things coming down the road,
- 7:17which I'm excited to share. And, you know, I think there's,
- 7:20there's a part of this show that's going to be a part of
- 7:22that dynamic, which I don't think any other conglomerate
- 7:26that can say that to be able to be a part of something really,
- 7:30really cool. So I'm excited.
- 7:31So, you know, it's a leg work. We crawl before we walk, but
- 7:35like I say, let's crawl before we walk because then we went on
- 7:37a crawl back before we walked. 8:45 We'll be talking to
- 7:40MLB.com. Yankee beat reporter and author
- 7:44of 62. Brian Hoke will be joining us.
- 7:47He's been on a show. He's 1 of Jabba's men and we're
- 7:49happy to have him on. I know he's been working really,
- 7:52really hard for the Yankees and his obviously storytelling over
- 7:57there at the winter meetings. The Yankees have not made any
- 7:59moves. So I'm sure Brian Hoke has the
- 8:02inside scoop with the New York Yankees, maybe some, some other
- 8:05inside scoop with the New York Mets and what the New York Mets
- 8:08are doing right now, because they're absolutely lost.
- 8:11And I, I don't know why anybody thinks that Jorge Polanco is
- 8:14going to fix any of the problems they have as far as looting,
- 8:18losing Pete Alonzo and Edwin Diaz.
- 8:20I mean, I, I'm not saying Jorge Polanco is not a good player.
- 8:24He's 32 years old and how many years does he have left at the
- 8:28top of his game? They signed it to a two year
- 8:29extension. But I, I, I mean, do you really
- 8:32need any more infield help? I I think your infields pretty
- 8:36sets. So I I don't get this move.
- 8:39I guess they're adding another bat, another I guess Dominican,
- 8:44I think is Blanco Dominican or is he Puerto Rico?
- 8:48He's a span another Spanish player.
- 8:50So I I see what the Mets are trying to do and and I
- 8:53understand they have a Spanish coach and they have a lot of big
- 8:57time superstars that are Spanish.
- 8:58You have Lindor, you have Soto and and they're building around
- 9:02that. So we'll see how this all is
- 9:04going to fit together. Speaking of fitting together,
- 9:08ESP NS Adam Schefner reports that the Miami Dolphins have
- 9:11benched Tua after his poor play in a 28 to 15 Monday Night
- 9:17Football loss to the Steelers. Rookie queen of yours.
- 9:20I love him and I watched him play for.
- 9:22Texas was named the starting quarterback for the weeks for
- 9:27for this week's matchup against the Bengals.
- 9:30With Zach Wilson backing him up, Tua will be the emergency third
- 9:36string quarterback. Head coach Mike McDaniel said
- 9:40that he has been disappointed in the quarterback play this season
- 9:46as the Dolphins have gone to a run heavy attack with Tua's poor
- 9:51performance hurting the passing attack.
- 9:54Tua leads the NFL with 15 interceptions this year and had
- 9:58the had just 65 yards through 3/4 in Monday's loss against the
- 10:04Steelers. Tua has two more years left on
- 10:08his BIG4 year deal worth about $212 million he signed in 2024.
- 10:14Really releasing to a would cost the Dolphins $99.2 million in
- 10:22dead cap space, although if they wait until after June 1st to cut
- 10:28him, they can spread that dead cap out of two years.
- 10:33When it comes to the contract to express his disappointment with
- 10:38the move, but said he would do what he what he could do to help
- 10:44yours. The Miami Herald reports that
- 10:47Zach Wilson was frustrated that the Dolphins started yours over
- 10:51him. With the loss to the Steelers,
- 10:55the Dolphins fell to six and eight and are now in danger of
- 10:59having their first losing record under McDaniels and have
- 11:04officially been eliminated from the playoffs.
- 11:07I, I will say this, if you're a Dolphins fan, you're wondering
- 11:11if this organization is on the right path.
- 11:16I like Mike McDaniels. I, I, I've always liked Mike
- 11:19McDaniel. He's a he's a good young coach.
- 11:22He's small. I call him Mighty Mouse.
- 11:25He he stands on a stepping stool and he speaks with such
- 11:29enthusiasm. He's a scientific personality.
- 11:33I think he went to one of the top schools in the country, one
- 11:36of the top collegiate schools because of his mind and his his
- 11:39presence when it comes to understanding and educating
- 11:43people on and off the football field.
- 11:46But this is football. This is a man's sport and it's a
- 11:51rough man sport and to me, Mike McDaniels has done what you
- 11:56needed him to do to prove that he deserves another year.
- 11:59I think obviously trading and letting players go at the trade
- 12:04deadline some some of your best defensive players.
- 12:07You traded A linebacker and Phillips to the Eagles.
- 12:10He's won. He's been one of your better
- 12:12players on the defensive side of the ball to trade him.
- 12:14You're pretty much calling it quits in the middle of the
- 12:17season and then you lose Tyree Kill early in the season with a
- 12:22a horrible injury. It was just horrible to watch
- 12:26and a lot of people thought that Tyree Kill would have been
- 12:28traded to the the the Chiefs or one of these top end teams that
- 12:32are fighting for a playoff spot at the trade deadline anyways,
- 12:35because Tyreek has not been the player they thought he was going
- 12:38to be over the last two seasons, they extended him.
- 12:41He's not been the same Tyreek Hill that we saw the first two
- 12:45years with the Miami Dolphins and rarely the last two years
- 12:48where he dominated, dominated with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 12:52But Miami is a team and an organization that could be
- 12:56comparable to the New York Jets, comparable to the Browns.
- 13:00Ownership doesn't know what they're doing.
- 13:02Ownership decides to make drastic moves.
- 13:05Now, making this move, first of all, parting ways with two
- 13:10attack of Viola with what, four games left makes no sense.
- 13:14If you were going to do this, you should have done this in the
- 13:17middle of the season after the trade deadline.
- 13:19Because if you're trading away pieces, you're pretty much
- 13:22telling the fan base that you're parting with the season.
- 13:26And that's what they did. But I got to give Mike McDaniel
- 13:29a little bit of credit because Mike McDaniel did what you
- 13:31wanted your coach to do. No matter how many moves they
- 13:35made and whatever they decided to part ways with, he still
- 13:38found a way to win. He still had these guys playing
- 13:41for him, which shows that the players still believe that he
- 13:44can coach and still believe in him as a coach.
- 13:47So why even think to part ways with him in the offseason?
- 13:53But then you look at Tua and you look at him at 15 interceptions,
- 13:57he hasn't been the elite quarterback we thought he was
- 14:00going to be. And if you remember the
- 14:02Dolphins, and I'm not going to mention what coach, but at that
- 14:06point when they drafted to her, they were really interested in
- 14:10Justin Herbert. They had a chance to land Justin
- 14:12Herbert, but the organization decided to draft to her.
- 14:16Justin Herbert has become one of the elite quarterbacks in the
- 14:19League, One of the more I would say top 7 heavy quarterbacks,
- 14:25elite quarterbacks in the league.
- 14:27You can see that he's changed his style ever since Jim
- 14:30Harbaugh has come into the mix. And I'm not saying Mike McDaniel
- 14:34would have changed Justin Herbert into an elite
- 14:36quarterback, but what I do know is Mike McDaniel has done a lot
- 14:43with very little and with a quarterback with two attack of
- 14:47Viola. He has not been the quarterback
- 14:49that he was with Alabama, a national champion, a guy that
- 14:53can make when he was playing college football, every single
- 14:57throw, can move outside of the pocket, use his legs because
- 15:00he's had concussion problems. And ever since that first
- 15:03concussion happened in the NFL, which has been about five of
- 15:06them, he has been stagnant and not believing that he should
- 15:11move outside of the pocket and make a play with his legs
- 15:13because he's afraid to get clothes line and be on the IR.
- 15:17But Miami is in a division that's been dominated by Buffalo
- 15:21for the last five or six years and has been dominated by the
- 15:24New England Patriots for about 20.
- 15:28And you look at the organization, they have one of
- 15:31the richest owners and one of the dumbest owners in
- 15:33professional sports. He spends money like it's, it's,
- 15:39it's, it's like Monopoly money when it comes to this guy.
- 15:42And he just makes the wrong decisions as an owner.
- 15:46I remember a couple of years ago, ownership has decided to
- 15:51spread out the wealth and bring in movie stars and actress and
- 15:54actresses to be partial owners of the organization.
- 15:58Why? To maybe draw more people to the
- 16:00stands, more fans to come and watch the games, or just make
- 16:05these owners or these players more important and have these
- 16:09guys or these girls come to the games and enjoy it with the
- 16:13ownership. Nevertheless, this is an
- 16:16organization that has done everything wrong.
- 16:19But they're not the worst organization, and they're still
- 16:21an organization that has pieces where they can build on #1
- 16:28Waddle is a great player. Waddell is still one of the
- 16:31elite wide receivers. When healthy.
- 16:34Waddell is a guy that could be a number one in this league and be
- 16:37a top five, top ten type of wide receiver #2A Chan is a great
- 16:44running back, one of the fastest running backs in the league, and
- 16:48he has become an elite running back in this league.
- 16:51And #3 the fans, no matter how bad this team is, just like the
- 16:59Jet fans, they show up week in and week out and cheer for their
- 17:03teams. It, it doesn't matter where it
- 17:05is. The Dolphin fans are always
- 17:07there cheering for their teams. And Mike McDaniel to me is not
- 17:11the problem. He's never been the problem.
- 17:13It's just the organization as a whole, ownership does not know
- 17:17what he what they're doing. And again, where they're moving
- 17:22and where they should be moving is in a spot where they're
- 17:25building around a draft building, around youth, building
- 17:30around the future. And to attack a Viola, he should
- 17:33be angry. You know why you should be
- 17:34angry? Because he should be angry on
- 17:37why the Miami Dolphins even gave him that contract, because was
- 17:42he worth the money? I do.
- 17:44I I do believe that too. For two years was an elite
- 17:47quarterback in his league. He was back and forth.
- 17:49He he threw a lot of touchdowns. He got this team in the playoffs
- 17:53a couple of times. It's not like he wasn't a decent
- 17:56quarterback, but was he worth the money that they paid him?
- 17:59It was $190 million, if I'm not mistaken.
- 18:02I don't know. It was 53,000,000 a year and
- 18:04then they had an injury clause mixed into it because of
- 18:07obviously how much he gets hurt. So he pretty much robbed the
- 18:09Miami Dolphins. Now anybody in, and I know
- 18:12Jabba's going to say the same thing.
- 18:13Jabba will come in and out of the scope and say the same
- 18:16friggin thing. You can't knock a player on the
- 18:19money he's making. You can't knock a player because
- 18:22he's making that kind of money because the organization decided
- 18:25to go that route. I will knock the organization
- 18:29because they've done wrong by the organization on putting this
- 18:33kid in a position to not succeed.
- 18:37The offensive line. How bad has the offensive line
- 18:40been this year? Speedy Really bad.
- 18:42It's been really, really bad. It's been one of the worst
- 18:44offensive lines in the. League and yeah, it was better
- 18:46than last year. And then if you look at it, you
- 18:49have a guy that has concussion problems, and every single time
- 18:53he looks one way and looks the other, there's somebody coming
- 18:56from a blitz or a package where he's got to either go down or
- 19:01run for dear life or throw the ball away.
- 19:04And he doesn't even run anymore. Because if he does, he's going
- 19:07to be knocked the hell out. We've seen it enough.
- 19:10I remember what was it 2 years ago when he got clothesline or
- 19:14got ran into where his whole body went stiff in the middle of
- 19:17a football field. I've never seen anything like
- 19:19that before. It's scary when you watch
- 19:21something like that. It's scary.
- 19:25And to think that this is an organization that has done every
- 19:30single thing wrong for the players that they have, there is
- 19:33an understatement. Because they overpaid.
- 19:36Tyree Kill Tyree kill whole held the organization up for ransom
- 19:42because he wanted to get as much money as he possibly can for him
- 19:45from them. And then all of a sudden after
- 19:47the fact said, hey, you know what, I might not even finish my
- 19:50contract. I might play another two years
- 19:52at the age of 30, I might retire.
- 19:54I mean, it seems like every single player that decides to go
- 19:58and play in Miami. Does something stupid that makes
- 20:01you shake your head or wonders or gives you the thought in your
- 20:05mind that this organization really does not know Speedy what
- 20:09they're doing? Now, it's weird because I think
- 20:11they've been a little better than they have been in previous
- 20:13years where it seemed like they were only getting these old
- 20:15players coming in. The Dolphins seemed like a
- 20:17retirement home for a lot of these just flashy names for a
- 20:20while. And then all of a sudden they
- 20:21they started with Mike McDaniel kind of getting younger all at
- 20:25once. They made the trade for Hill.
- 20:26He was the one veteran guy, but even when they traded for him,
- 20:27he was still 27 at the time. Like he was still young long
- 20:30enough where he was in his peak. And it seemed like for a while
- 20:33they were at least growing to something else where they're not
- 20:35like you're like you said, the worst run organization yet
- 20:38they're still probably a bottom 10 run organization because of
- 20:41that. Now, we've had different guests
- 20:42on the show that have mentioned that they treat the players very
- 20:45well. The facilities are very good.
- 20:46But then what does that matter if 2 was keep getting hurt like
- 20:49that? And I think the one you were
- 20:51mentioning last year too was the one where DeMar Hamlin
- 20:54completely whacked him at the at in the red zone.
- 20:56And that I blamed him at the time because that was
- 20:59self-inflicted. And I think the instincts are
- 21:02the instincts are not there for somebody like him at this point.
- 21:06And you wonder if that's gotten to his head at some point where
- 21:10he's making mistakes now. He was never this interception
- 21:12prone ever. Like he wasn't great on the run.
- 21:15He would doesn't he never had this huge, huge arm even though
- 21:17his deep accuracy metrics are very good.
- 21:20And I think that's something that's gotten him more than
- 21:22expected because they still move the ball very well.
- 21:24Tua still has a decent amount of passing.
- 21:26You're not amazing amount of passing yards, but you can only
- 21:28go so far without Tyree kill in the lineup.
- 21:30And Jalen Waddle's been just really streaky the last two
- 21:33years since he signed his contract.
- 21:34Eight chance been very good and the defense ever since the
- 21:37beginning of the seasons looked better, but they did the same
- 21:39thing last year and didn't get him anywhere.
- 21:41So you're right, they're A-Team that's kind of stuck in a very
- 21:44weird mediocrity. They're going to have to be
- 21:45stuck with the contract. I don't think it's worth buying
- 21:47him out at this point. I don't think when you or is
- 21:49unless he shows Flash is going to be much of anything right
- 21:51now. And even if he does then just OK
- 21:53you haven't want to. Work.
- 21:53Yours was going to be a top first round draft pick up one
- 21:56point of his career. And then things just fell apart
- 21:59for him and he had a bad season and Texas and the Longhorns were
- 22:03not playing at the top of their game.
- 22:04And yours kind of fell out of the first round and then fell
- 22:07what, to the third or fourth round?
- 22:09He went from possibly a top 30 pick all the way to what what
- 22:13was he drafted? Yours was.
- 22:14Seventh round. Seventh round.
- 22:16So I, I, he was expected. Honestly, he fell even further
- 22:19there. He was expected to be a fourth
- 22:20round pick and he fell all the way to the seventh round.
- 22:23Now, I don't know what yours is going to be.
- 22:24Maybe they find lightning in a bottle.
- 22:26I, I don't know what he's going to be.
- 22:28What I do know is this is again going to be another offseason
- 22:32where the organization is going to wonder, do they go into the
- 22:35draft next year? Do they move up to go after a
- 22:38Fernando Mendoza? What do they have to give up to
- 22:41move up to #1 with the New York Giants or even Vegas if Vegas
- 22:45willing to trade that, which you're probably not.
- 22:47If Vegas lose out, loses out their games and loses against
- 22:51the Giants, because I think that's the only game the Vegas
- 22:55Raiders have a chance of winning in the next three weeks.
- 22:58If they win that game, they knock themselves out of the top
- 23:00five. If they if they lose that game,
- 23:03they have a chance to be the number one pick because then the
- 23:05giants fall out of it and fall all the way to six or five in in
- 23:09this draft list of tankathon team.
- 23:13So I, I mean, you look at the AFC East right now and is Miami
- 23:17the worst team in the AFC East? No, The Jets are so are the
- 23:21giant are the are the Giants are my is Miami done that bad this
- 23:26year where you could just part ways with Tua, Tiger, Viola.
- 23:29Now when you look at his numbers, you would say yes, 15
- 23:32interceptions and he leads the league in 15 interceptions.
- 23:35He's thrown more interceptions than touchdowns.
- 23:38That is alarming. And then you'll hear what Tua
- 23:40said after the Pittsburgh Steelers game and what Aaron
- 23:42Rodgers told him and say keep your head up, keep working.
- 23:46You still have a chance to be a good quarterback in this league.
- 23:49But does he really have a good chance of being a good
- 23:52quarterback in his league? How old is Tua now?
- 23:54He's at 2828 years old. What team is going to give him a
- 23:58chance? You've seen Russell Wilson.
- 23:59Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl, he was up for a couple of times
- 24:04for an MVP candidate and he was one of the elite quarterbacks in
- 24:07the league for at least three or four years.
- 24:10Has two ever been elite quarterback in his league?
- 24:12He was never a top five quarterback.
- 24:14He was. He was top ten.
- 24:16I think the 2023 season, I think that was the Dolphins biggest
- 24:18peak and what do they do that year?
- 24:20They collapsed the division away when they had like a three-game
- 24:22lead on the Bills late in the season and I think they really
- 24:25haven't recovered since then, both structurally and again with
- 24:27two as injuries. I think that when you look at
- 24:29the organization as a whole and you look at Miami as a whole,
- 24:33where do they believe they should go in the offseason now 2
- 24:37is gone. They're going to do whatever
- 24:39they can. They'll probably wait until June
- 24:411st. They'll let it.
- 24:42They'll they'll probably let him go.
- 24:44He'll go to free agency and they'll be a team.
- 24:46They'll be a team that is looking for a veteran
- 24:48quarterback that is going to start the year looking for a guy
- 24:52to start over a rookie that they draft.
- 24:53Maybe The Jets, I could see The Jets doing that.
- 24:55Maybe that's. A spot for the Vikings.
- 24:57The Vikings are are another team.
- 24:59They're looking for somebody to challenge a JJ McCarthy, who's
- 25:02had a very bad season as a rookie.
- 25:04Somebody out there is going to be looking for a veteran
- 25:06quarterback and is going to be willing to bring him in to
- 25:10figure out how about this, if Cincinnati decides to trade Joe
- 25:13Burrow, do the Cincinnati Bengals bring in a guy like to
- 25:18attack a Viola to sit for a year and figure out if he's the guy
- 25:22for the next two or three years Cuz they have TT Higgins under
- 25:25contract and and Jamar Chase. They're going to need a veteran
- 25:29quarterback that's going to get him the ball.
- 25:31Because even if Cincinnati decides, if they move Joe Burrow
- 25:35and and again, they'll be teams giving them at least two first
- 25:38round draft picks for two Joe Burrow and he they're going to
- 25:401A top ten pick because there's Simpson, there's going to be a
- 25:44quarterback. Maybe they go after a
- 25:45quarterback in the second round because they're saying Beck
- 25:47could fall to the second round. Now that seller is going back to
- 25:50college. Maybe Beck is a late first round
- 25:53draft pick. So maybe they trade down or
- 25:56whatever they do to to bring in a Beck who might be going for
- 26:00making a run for a national championship.
- 26:02I don't know where they go. What I do know right now is
- 26:06Miami is parting ways with Tua. No, Zach Wilson being upset, I
- 26:10could care less. I mean, this guy was a top three
- 26:15pick. He felled as a New York Jet.
- 26:18If he really was going to win the job at any point this year,
- 26:20he would have proven himself and he would have taken that job for
- 26:23Tua. He couldn't have been as bad as
- 26:25Tua. Maybe.
- 26:26Well, Kenny, I don't know, I've seen him, I've seen him bad with
- 26:29the New York Jets. So I don't know how bad Zach
- 26:32Wilson would have played with the elite wide receiving core
- 26:35that they had before Tyree kill went down and and a chant is not
- 26:38too shabby either. He's a guy that can catch the
- 26:40ball in the backfield and make plays in the open field.
- 26:42So they've got weapons. It's not like Miami can't
- 26:46compete and and don't have a speedy type of offense that can
- 26:49get the ball in the end zone. What worries me is I don't know
- 26:54if this organization is capable of picking the right guy or
- 26:57making the right decisions to decide on what this organization
- 27:02should do in the future. Because the quarterback position
- 27:05we've known as as football fans is the most important position
- 27:09in sports. And if you don't have the right
- 27:11guy in position to succeed, you don't have anything.
- 27:15And we've seen that with The Jets.
- 27:16The Jets haven't had a starting quarterback in 50 years.
- 27:19And I don't want to hear about Mark Sanchez because as good as
- 27:22Mark Sanchez was in some parts of his career, he wasn't an
- 27:26elite quarterback. He had an elite defense.
- 27:28He had an elite running game. And that's why they were where
- 27:31they were. That's why they went to
- 27:32back-to-back AFC title games. Mark Sanchez was not good
- 27:35because the only time you can remember or even pick out what
- 27:39Mark Sanchez did in the league, you forget about what he did in
- 27:42the AFC title games or you forget about him getting to the
- 27:45getting The Jets in the AFC title game.
- 27:47What you do remember Mark Sanchez doing is the butt
- 27:50fumble. That's what you remember.
- 27:52So and, and, and a lot of jet quarterbacks are known to do
- 27:54stupid things. AK Sam Darnold.
- 27:56What do you remember what Sam Darnold did as a Jet as a Jet
- 28:00player? Well, when he went to New
- 28:02England on Thursday Night Football, he created after the
- 28:04game, he created his own ghosts. So it seems like Jet
- 28:08quarterbacks and Miami quarterbacks just can't get over
- 28:12the hump. And it seems like they they
- 28:14flash different quarterbacks. Think about it.
- 28:17Chad Pennington was a New York Jet quarterback, and guess what?
- 28:20He was a Miami Dolphins quarterback.
- 28:23Ryan Fitzpatrick, I think at one point was a Miami Dolphins
- 28:26quarterback. Very briefly with with two of
- 28:28their they kept remember Brian Flores kept benching the two of
- 28:31them and they interchanged them pretty.
- 28:32And the New York Jets had Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Fitzpatrick
- 28:35had one of his best years with the New York Jets were Brandon
- 28:38Marshall and Eric Decker. We could go on.
- 28:40Now they have Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson was one of The Jets
- 28:44draft picks a couple of years ago.
- 28:46Top three pick failed as a New York Jet.
- 28:48Well, then he went to the Broncos for a short stint and
- 28:51now he is the backup quarterback for Tua and now quitting yours.
- 28:55So I just there is if you look at The Jets and you look at
- 28:59Miami, they're very alike. They share different players
- 29:03over the years and they're at and to me, they're they're
- 29:05trying to find lightning in a bottle at the quarterback
- 29:08position. It just it's not easy to find
- 29:10guys. It's not easy to find a starting
- 29:13quarterback. It's not easy to find an elite
- 29:15quarterback in this league. And it just, to me, it's an
- 29:17embarrassment to the organization to try to reach on
- 29:20this, to try to figure out why this organization hasn't made
- 29:24the right choices. Why this organization has done
- 29:27stupid things on and off the field.
- 29:29Why this organization has figured to think that
- 29:33quarterback play is not important, and why quarterback
- 29:37play has not been successful in Miami.
- 29:39And the only time I can remember that they had a quarterback
- 29:43that's competent to make every single throw was what, in the
- 29:471980s and 90s with Dan Marino. And by the way, only played one
- 29:53Super Bowl game and never won a Super Bowl.
- 29:56So this is an organization that can't get out of the hump, just
- 29:59like the New York Jets. As a matter of fact, when we can
- 30:02remember when the this Miami Dolphins team actually won a
- 30:06Super Bowl? When was the last time they won
- 30:07a Super? Bowl.
- 30:08Was it 73? 1973 and when was the last time
- 30:10The Jets won a Super Bowl? 19691969 So they're not far
- 30:14fetched, they're not far apart from each other and each
- 30:17organization. And what a what a Kowinky dink
- 30:20that they're both in the same division and in the same
- 30:23conference failures. So I, I to me, you know when a
- 30:28Jet fan says, well look at those Miami Dolphins fans.
- 30:31Hey, here's another Kowinky dink about both organization.
- 30:34They both wear green. They're both we're wear green.
- 30:38The Jets are green and white and the dolphins are green, white
- 30:44and orange. So it, it, to me, it's just,
- 30:48it's so it's so appealing if you're a, if you're a Jets fan
- 30:54and you're a Miami Dolphins fan and you're trying to appear to
- 30:58think that both organizations know what they're doing.
- 31:01And you realize that both organizations, no matter how
- 31:05many wins they bring in every single year, no matter how many
- 31:08chances they have to make the playoffs or how many
- 31:11quarterbacks they share, they never get over the hump.
- 31:15Yeah, and there was a stat to like tracking.
- 31:17Like how many coaches a lot of these dysfunctional teams have
- 31:20hired in the 21st century? I think the readers were first
- 31:23in that department, watched it was second, and then The Jets
- 31:25were up there too. Miami, I think was top three in
- 31:27terms of different starting quarterbacks since Marino
- 31:30retired, all the way behind Washington as well.
- 31:32And we interviewed one of them a while back and Jay Fiedler, and
- 31:35there was a bunch of others after that.
- 31:36You mentioned Chad Pennington, and it seems like they're just
- 31:38either settling for veterans or they just have a couple random
- 31:41good years like Ryan Tannehill. Ryan Tannehill, when Adam Gase
- 31:44was the first hired there in 2016, had a good year, but it
- 31:46wasn't last thing after that. Then he rebirth himself with the
- 31:48Titans and then all of a sudden now you look at 22 very good
- 31:52years in 2022 and 2023, but really hasn't found that kind of
- 31:56form again. And with that contract now, can
- 31:59you trust it where they can hold on to it and be able to find
- 32:01that contract to get that level going?
- 32:04Because their defense is very far behind right now.
- 32:06So they're going to if they're going to get anywhere
- 32:08successfully wise. That's why I agree with you.
- 32:09They should keep McDaniel. No matter if they hire, they're
- 32:12going to hire a new GM. They've already fired their GM,
- 32:14which I think was a big reason their organization never grow.
- 32:16They can't draft offensive line, they can't draft defense, and
- 32:19they were able to build around their great offensive skill
- 32:21players that they have. And they're kind of just stuck
- 32:23in the middle. They're not terribly run like
- 32:25the Browns or the Raiders or a team like that that's three and
- 32:2714 every year, but they're still kind of stuck in mediocrity and
- 32:31they have the longest drought right now of winning a playoff
- 32:33game. And it worries you.
- 32:35It worries you if if you're a Miami Dolphins fan.
- 32:38Because again, going back in the past and now looking towards the
- 32:42future, is there a future for this organization until they
- 32:45figure out who their quarterbacks going to be for the
- 32:47next 10 years? And, and we can go on and on and
- 32:50on of teams. Look at the Giants.
- 32:53Look what the Giants are dealing with right now.
- 32:55Just think about it. Look how many quarterbacks.
- 32:57Look how many coaches, look how many GM's they have gone through
- 33:00in the last 15 years since Tom Coughlin has been gone.
- 33:04And they had one of the greatest coaches of New York Giants
- 33:07history and one of the greatest quarterbacks in a big game gone.
- 33:13And I remember when Giant fans said good riddance to Eli
- 33:16Manning, good riddance to Tom Coughlin.
- 33:20And now you realize there's excuses now for all the Giants
- 33:24organic, you know, all the Giant fans on why the Giants shouldn't
- 33:28have parted ways with Tom Kaufman.
- 33:29Why did the Giants decide to part ways with Eli?
- 33:33And Eli might have played an extra two or three more years if
- 33:36the Giants didn't screw that up and Ben McAdoo decide to start
- 33:40Geno Smith over him. It pissed Eli off and it made
- 33:44Eli realize that the time was almost gone for him and Eli
- 33:48could have went to another organization he didn't want to
- 33:50his family. He grew his family in New
- 33:53Jersey. His whole life was in New
- 33:55Jersey. He was never going to play for
- 33:57another organization. It took a lot for Peyton Manning
- 34:00to jump from Indianapolis to Denver and the only reason why
- 34:04he did that was John Elway. Him and John Elway had a great
- 34:07relationship and he and and Peyton Manning believed that he
- 34:10had a couple more years left to win another championship and to
- 34:14be an elite quarterback in the league.
- 34:15And he was at that time and people forget the steroid thing
- 34:19came out that he was doing, you know, some kind of advanced
- 34:24drugs that to help him get healthy and help his neck.
- 34:27What did they, they, they enhanced drug, I don't know if
- 34:30it was, I don't know what it was, but it wasn't, it wasn't
- 34:33steroids, but I guess it was HGH.
- 34:35And that was a story and people forgot about that because it's
- 34:39Peyton Manning. But nobody, nobody brings up
- 34:41that Peyton Manning was doing human growth hormones, No, that
- 34:46he was cheating. No, they all did that after he
- 34:48retired. Because no, they don't even talk
- 34:50about it anymore. People don't even mention that
- 34:53Peyton Manning was on steroids or whatever.
- 34:56HDHI guess it's a human growth hormone.
- 34:59So it is cheating in their own way.
- 35:03But I I think that when you look at The Jets and you look at
- 35:07Miami, it's they've always made the wrong mistakes.
- 35:10They bring in these veteran guys and these veteran guys are not
- 35:14the same players they were when they were playing as a young
- 35:18player with the other organizations that drafted them.
- 35:21Miami's done it many, many times too.
- 35:24You go back and you look at some of the veteran players they
- 35:26brought in year in and year out. It's it's failed if they've been
- 35:29a failure. So what I would say in the
- 35:32offseason is you wait until June 1st, you let to a go and then
- 35:37you decide do you draft this year?
- 35:39Do you wait until next year where you have Arch Manning, you
- 35:42have a better class of quarterback cello be in next
- 35:44year's class where you wait until next year.
- 35:47You're not going to be an elite team.
- 35:48Maybe McDaniel, you give McDaniel one more year to do to
- 35:52do something with nothing. And if you can win six or seven
- 35:55games, you keep McDaniel, let McDaniel draft his quarterback
- 35:58next year. And you ride, ride or die with
- 36:00McDaniel because you don't want to keep firing coaches and
- 36:03bringing in new coaches. It never works.
- 36:06Look at all these other teams that were winning organizations.
- 36:10Tomlin, could you imagine what the Steelers are going to have
- 36:12to deal with in the future if Mike Tomlin and the Steelers
- 36:15decide to part ways in the offseason?
- 36:17They've had the same coaches for like 30 something years and now
- 36:22you part ways with Tomlin, Coward's gone and then they
- 36:25bring in another guy and this is this is the same thing that
- 36:28happened to the Giants. They had Bill Parcells and they
- 36:30had Tom Coughlin. After that, everything was just
- 36:33like it backfired at the the Giants organization.
- 36:36You bring in Ben McAdoo to be his offensive coordinator.
- 36:39Tom Coughlin didn't want him there.
- 36:40Ben McAdoo took over for the team, had one Goodyear.
- 36:43He was fired after that and and so on and so on and so on.
- 36:47You do not want to continuously keep doing this to an
- 36:51organization that has been an absolute failure.
- 36:53So I if if I'm a Dolphins fan, I'm figuring out what this team
- 37:00is doing and how this team is going to move mute how this team
- 37:04is going to move towards their future and make better decisions
- 37:09that they haven't made over the last 25 years since Dan Marino's
- 37:13been gone. That's it for our show.
