- 0:00Speaker 1: Is it okay to donate a gift someone made you?
- 0:04Speaker 1: That's what she did?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Dawn your thoughts, Absolutely not. Someone took their time and
- 0:09Speaker 2: energy and people are busy. They thought enough of you
- 0:12Speaker 2: to give you something. Don't don't it's rude.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I think it is rude.
- 0:16Speaker 3: He did say it was itchy.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Though, then don't wear it, but don't donate it. If
- 0:22Speaker 2: I blew a good woo and I see something I
- 0:24Speaker 2: made somebody on their sholf, you believe we're not friends
- 0:26Speaker 2: no more?
- 0:27Speaker 4: Do you know?
- 0:27Speaker 3: I feel bad because listen to this. I've thrown away
- 0:29Speaker 3: gifts my kids have got me that have been you know,
- 0:31Speaker 3: out for a while.
- 0:32Speaker 1: But then it's like, eh, that they made you, they made.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Your or did they make it for you.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Or just buy it whatever. I don't know. I don't
- 0:39Speaker 3: even know.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Maybe there are the tram prints that these little hand
- 0:44Speaker 2: prints at school and you're like done.
- 0:45Speaker 3: They figure up you threw them against the wall was
- 0:48Speaker 3: supposed to go in my refrigerator. Can't hang up all
- 0:50Speaker 3: the art on the fridge.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Hey, don, thanks for listening, Thanks for calling in. Adriana.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Is it okay to donate something that someone made you?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Your thoughts?
- 0:58Speaker 5: I think So I'm a homie gift givers, so I
- 1:01Speaker 5: like to make homemade gifts and give them away, like
- 1:03Speaker 5: for baby showers. I do blankets and little bibs and
- 1:06Speaker 5: things like that. But I know that my stuff isn't
- 1:09Speaker 5: like made perfectly. I'm not a professional or anything. So
- 1:12Speaker 5: I would understand if somebody didn't like my gifts or
- 1:16Speaker 5: didn't want it or didn't use it, but I would
- 1:19Speaker 5: rather it be donated than thrown away.
- 1:21Speaker 1: That's pretty funny.
- 1:22Speaker 3: That's a good way of looking at it.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You hand someone to gift you mad and they go, oh,
- 1:25Speaker 1: this is really neat, and they just throw away.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Hey, listen, I'm not a chocky person. I'm just gonna
- 1:32Speaker 3: go ahead ditch this right in front of you.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Very What have you made, Adriana, I do a lot
- 1:40Speaker 5: of like baby gifts, so like blankets I've made, like
- 1:43Speaker 5: little levies, bibs. I'm actually planning on a lot of
- 1:47Speaker 5: homemade gifts for Christmas this year, so working on like
- 1:50Speaker 5: things like little purses or bags start an ex shop.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Those are useful.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Thanks everybody says that, But I would be to be
- 2:00Speaker 5: like overwhelmed with things, and I'm not a perfectionist. But
- 2:04Speaker 5: I know my stuff isn't perfect, and so I would
- 2:06Speaker 5: be worried. People would be like, this is kind of crappy.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been worried too. It's like this doesn't fit
- 2:11Speaker 3: the baby room aesthetic, so we're not going to keep
- 2:13Speaker 3: your blanket in here, Genie, I would worry about that.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Your thoughts on this whole donating thing someone made you
- 2:18Speaker 1: sounds like everybody's on the same page.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Go ahead, Okay, So it's kind of a quick story.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I don't I wouldn't do it because I believe karma
- 2:26Speaker 4: is so real. So in my so, I'm a single mom. Right,
- 2:29Speaker 4: my son was like three years old. He's fourteen now.
- 2:31Speaker 4: But my neighbor, she was this sweet old lady, and
- 2:35Speaker 4: she was so sweet. She would make me like bagels
- 2:37Speaker 4: and biscuits and cookies all the time and just try
- 2:40Speaker 4: to help me out. Well, once she made my son
- 2:42Speaker 4: this shirt, and I kid you not, it looked like
- 2:44Speaker 4: Bozo the Clown like something. It was like made of
- 2:47Speaker 4: silk or satin or something. And so I had it
- 2:52Speaker 4: for like six months, never put it on him, and
- 2:54Speaker 4: I went to kind of donate a bunch of stuff,
- 2:56Speaker 4: and I swear as soon as I donated it. She
- 2:58Speaker 4: would ask me about it every day, like, oh, has
- 3:00Speaker 4: worn it? I really want to get a picture of
- 3:02Speaker 4: him in it, and I like would make up these lies. Yeah,
- 3:08Speaker 4: and then once she so, I just I didn't even
- 3:11Speaker 4: think about it. She even asked him about it, and
- 3:13Speaker 4: I just kind of cut him off. And I was like, oh,
- 3:15Speaker 4: he loved it. But it fell apart in the washing machine,
- 3:18Speaker 4: like it came unraveled, and she, I kid you not.
- 3:20Speaker 4: She asked me for the fabric back and I was like, oh.
- 3:23Speaker 2: My gosh, it was.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It was so poorly made. Yeah, yeah, right, thanks Genie.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Busted by the ways, Like, did you guys watch a
- 3:33Speaker 1: new episode of ted Lasso. Roy Kent's niece made him
- 3:37Speaker 1: some socks that have glitter on him and he wore him.
- 3:40Speaker 1: She didn't get rid of him. That's Roy Kent Abby,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Good morning, Good morning. Your thoughts on the donating something
- 3:48Speaker 1: somebody made for you?
- 3:50Speaker 6: I so, I I think it's okay to donate if
- 3:55Speaker 6: you don't use it. But I have been.
- 3:58Speaker 4: One that has made things for people.
- 4:01Speaker 6: But I feel like a lot of people give gifts
- 4:04Speaker 6: that people don't ask for and then then that just
- 4:08Speaker 6: clutters up their house. Yeah, and like they could have
- 4:12Speaker 6: like a thousand blankets and someone makes them another blanket.
- 4:17Speaker 6: I don't know, Like I feel like it's a balance,
- 4:20Speaker 6: Like if someone hand makes something, you have to make
- 4:23Speaker 6: sure that they actually want it before you put in
- 4:26Speaker 6: that time and effort because it takes a lot of time.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You know, there's a text right here. It says, as
- 4:31Speaker 1: a crafter and a gift maker, I am fine with
- 4:35Speaker 1: people getting rid of stuff I give them. No, that's
- 4:37Speaker 1: a different perspective.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and I guess you'd rather that.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Person on the phone. Oh, that person on the phone
- 4:41Speaker 1: holds like, sorry, Claudia, I think I just read your text.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Yeah, that was my text.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I lovely key stuff.
- 4:47Speaker 5: I have fun making my gifts and craft, but I
- 4:49Speaker 5: don't care what they.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Do with good after At least I had fun doing it.
- 4:53Speaker 2: That's such a good attitude.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I had a good attitude. That's a good way to
- 4:55Speaker 1: wrap it up. Here's somebody that actually so you don't care.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Like where you listening to War of the Roses. The
- 4:59Speaker 1: guy he didn't like it, and he gave it away,
- 5:02Speaker 1: And then she saw a girl wearing his hoodie, which,
- 5:04Speaker 1: by the way, is a weird situation.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Especially if you think she's mad eying you too.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I heard it and I was like, I don't care.
- 5:12Speaker 5: I would do whatever you want to get after I
- 5:15Speaker 5: gave the teeth.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Thanks Claudia.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Wye.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Okay, don your point of view.
- 5:25Speaker 7: Don bye, Yes I have. My father in law painted
- 5:32Speaker 7: me a picture for my kitchen and the colors did
- 5:36Speaker 7: not go with my kitchen at all, and it promptly
- 5:41Speaker 7: it probably went in the basement for a long time,
- 5:45Speaker 7: and then eventually when we moved it did get donated
- 5:49Speaker 7: because the only other option would be to throw it
- 5:51Speaker 7: away and I would feel too bad throwing it away.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Okay, understand completely, Don. Thank you.
