- 1:39Speaker 6: And I don't like to play favorites, but this is
- 1:40Speaker 6: actually one of my favorite episodes because I grew up
- 1:44Speaker 6: watching usays Up All Night all the time. I remember
- 1:48Speaker 6: when this was on. I found so many movies because
- 1:50Speaker 6: of USA's Up All Night. And my guest this week
- 1:53Speaker 6: was the host of USA's Up All Night from nineteen
- 1:55Speaker 6: ninety one to nineteen ninety eight. She's acted in TV
- 1:57Speaker 6: shows like Happy Days, Mattered with Children, Duckman, Just the
- 1:59Speaker 6: Name of You. In two thousand and one, she launched
- 2:02Speaker 6: launched her own Woman's Intimate line, and she has the
- 2:04Speaker 6: number one selling Braught in the world and her new
- 2:07Speaker 6: book Up All Night. From Hollywood, Bombshell to Laudree and Mobile.
- 2:11Speaker 6: In this episode, we chat a lot about movies find
- 2:13Speaker 6: the courage of all your dreams. For you're venting yourself
- 2:15Speaker 6: at any age. It's just tons more. Again one of
- 2:18Speaker 6: my favorite episodes with guests Rhonda shere.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Happy to speak to you. Heard nothing but amazing things
- 2:26Speaker 4: about you. So thanks for having me on.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Oh thank you, Ron. I really appreciate that.
- 2:30Speaker 6: And you know I really wanted to have you on too,
- 2:33Speaker 6: because I grew up watching Up All Night or USA
- 2:36Speaker 6: is Up all Night, and I remember.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Wait, wait, wait, let me do it day of day? Wait,
- 2:39Speaker 4: wait us say all I have to do it as
- 2:45Speaker 4: the Greek chad, so I'll have to set it out.
- 2:48Speaker 6: I remember that all the time. I mean I sometimes
- 2:51Speaker 6: I wouldn't even remember the movies, but I remember. I
- 2:53Speaker 6: remember that because you know, I remember too finding a
- 2:57Speaker 6: lot of movies i'd never heard of before from from
- 2:59Speaker 6: that intro, and I remember, I just remember that intro.
- 3:02Speaker 6: The first time I ever saw was you doing that?
- 3:04Speaker 6: And I remember, like it was so great because it's
- 3:07Speaker 6: so it's so catchy, you know what I mean, remember absolutely.
- 3:11Speaker 4: And it's so funny that you say that, because you know,
- 3:13Speaker 4: when I first you know, there was another gal before
- 3:15Speaker 4: me that hosted Up All Night with Gilbert On. I
- 3:19Speaker 4: was always on Friday and Jilbigotty was on Saturday. And
- 3:23Speaker 4: I'm banking on her name right now, but anyway, you
- 3:25Speaker 4: might be able to see Carolyn Caroline, Carolyn Shelt, Caroline Schlitz.
- 3:30Speaker 4: And so she was there about a year and a
- 3:31Speaker 4: half before I got there, and I know people really
- 3:34Speaker 4: loved her, and I thought she was actually very good.
- 3:36Speaker 4: But you know, it was USA Network that wanted to
- 3:38Speaker 4: replace her for whatever, and I think they were going
- 3:41Speaker 4: a little bit. They thought it being a little bit sexier,
- 3:45Speaker 4: they wanted to kind of go for it. So I did.
- 3:47Speaker 4: But I always thought when I got it, I always thought,
- 3:49Speaker 4: you know, you have to come up with kind of
- 3:51Speaker 4: a catchphrase. And because years ago, I'm from New Orleans
- 3:54Speaker 4: and when I was in New Orleans, I used to
- 3:56Speaker 4: do this commotion for it was an all female you know,
- 4:00Speaker 4: like class like pre you know, all the gyms that
- 4:04Speaker 4: were mixed they used to have like men gym, female
- 4:06Speaker 4: gyms and anybody. It was called the shape spot for
- 4:08Speaker 4: all women. And I used to and the catchphrase was
- 4:12Speaker 4: let's get in shape. So that was kind of like
- 4:14Speaker 4: my saying, I mean all of my teens and my
- 4:16Speaker 4: twenties and so it always caught and where wherever I
- 4:19Speaker 4: would go in New orleanst But oh, it's a shapespot girl.
- 4:22Speaker 4: So anyway, that kind of brought me back to that,
- 4:25Speaker 4: and so I said, I have to come up with
- 4:26Speaker 4: some way of saying show that kind of catches, and
- 4:29Speaker 4: so hence that that's how that was born. And of
- 4:33Speaker 4: course it was a little bit of a good fier character.
- 4:36Speaker 4: But if you really listened to the character, you know
- 4:39Speaker 4: it was fun and smart comedy. But if you were
- 4:43Speaker 4: just I guess, uh, channel surfing, you would just see
- 4:46Speaker 4: a lot of blonde hair, a lot of cleavage and
- 4:48Speaker 4: up on it. But anyway, it was good. It was
- 4:51Speaker 4: a good run, almost almost eight years, so kind of
- 4:55Speaker 4: cool to have that long run on the show, on
- 4:58Speaker 4: any show on to V.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Yeah, that's absolutely amazing because I actually looked it up
- 5:02Speaker 6: because I didn't even know the total number of episodes
- 5:04Speaker 6: off the top of my head. I mean, there's like
- 5:06Speaker 6: nine hundred episodes of Up All Night, And I mean, right, and.
- 5:10Speaker 3: You did it for like eight years. I mean, that's
- 5:11Speaker 3: an insane number of episodes.
- 5:13Speaker 4: It really is, well you know what it is. It
- 5:15Speaker 4: is because we taped every week as opposed to like,
- 5:17Speaker 4: you know, most episode of shows were like twenty two
- 5:19Speaker 4: a season, but we were on every week, so it
- 5:23Speaker 4: would either tape every week and then the show New York.
- 5:25Speaker 4: For a while. I didn't move to New York, but
- 5:27Speaker 4: we would go to New York and tape four or
- 5:29Speaker 4: five you know, bank them and then they were an air.
- 5:32Speaker 4: So it was really cool to have that much fun
- 5:35Speaker 4: and I had. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I guess, they kept
- 5:38Speaker 4: changing producers and direct was on me. I don't know
- 5:41Speaker 4: what they wanted, but actually, and looking back, I'm still
- 5:44Speaker 4: friendly with all these people, and each month brought something
- 5:47Speaker 4: else to the table. Well, of course, in the very
- 5:49Speaker 4: early years it was really sexy and sassy and a
- 5:51Speaker 4: little lingerie and the first couple of years and then
- 5:54Speaker 4: it kind of changed and it became more interview style,
- 5:57Speaker 4: and then we got to New York, it really changed.
- 5:59Speaker 4: But I think people remember the earlier years. But for
- 6:02Speaker 4: me as a performer, they were all cool because I
- 6:04Speaker 4: really got to, you know, have a lot of saying
- 6:08Speaker 4: what I wanted to do. So she watched a late
- 6:10Speaker 4: like even the last year, we did a lot of uh,
- 6:13Speaker 4: I did a lot of impressions of like Lucille Ball
- 6:15Speaker 4: and Share and like some of my I powered you
- 6:18Speaker 4: a lot of my favorite ladies of television, so that
- 6:21Speaker 4: was really cool. But yeah, that I did four hundred
- 6:23Speaker 4: and fifty episodes myself, and I think I'm the only
- 6:28Speaker 4: one that has most. I mean I have probably at
- 6:30Speaker 4: least four hundred, might be missing a few, but I
- 6:34Speaker 4: actually had them, you know, that was part of my
- 6:36Speaker 4: contract that they had given me a video tape of everything.
- 6:39Speaker 4: So most of those have been doubt or uploaded, I
- 6:43Speaker 4: should say, and then a lot of them are still
- 6:45Speaker 4: on DVD, so eventually we'll get to them and put
- 6:49Speaker 4: them all on YouTube. But I'm the only one. They
- 6:51Speaker 4: literally USA Network disposed of them back then because of
- 6:54Speaker 4: the tape. Just saving tape. Can you imagine how what
- 6:57Speaker 4: a shame. So I think even the producer, some of
- 7:01Speaker 4: the producers have a few shows, but I have most
- 7:03Speaker 4: of them. Of course I don't have the movies. I
- 7:06Speaker 4: used to have all the movies. What they would do
- 7:07Speaker 4: is you were, say, network would send me the movies
- 7:09Speaker 4: to watch, and you know, of course, then you know,
- 7:13Speaker 4: you know, do the wrap arounds later on. I should
- 7:17Speaker 4: have saved all those movies. Although I wouldn't have had
- 7:19Speaker 4: the rights to them myself. But people always say, do
- 7:21Speaker 4: you have this film? You have that, and back in
- 7:24Speaker 4: the day, I did, but for my own stories, I
- 7:26Speaker 4: couldn't you know. We actually did two movies, or I
- 7:31Speaker 4: hosted three movies every Friday night, so we hosted and
- 7:35Speaker 4: wrapped around two and then the story one was just voiceover.
- 7:39Speaker 4: But they would send me all the movies ahead of time,
- 7:41Speaker 4: so I would have had a really great collection of
- 7:43Speaker 4: the films if I would have kept them all. But
- 7:46Speaker 4: it's funny, it's a genre that is kind of coming back.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Even a few years ago. I was asked to do
- 7:52Speaker 4: a film and everyone really misses that genre and the
- 7:56Speaker 4: fact that it was kind of innocent, like they we
- 7:58Speaker 4: thought you would see more, see more skin, or hear
- 8:02Speaker 4: more language than than you really got. So it was
- 8:04Speaker 4: kind of chitillating without being nasty. What have you. So anyway,
- 8:10Speaker 4: interesting time. I'm glad I was part of it, and
- 8:12Speaker 4: even being part of early basic cable, which was you
- 8:15Speaker 4: I say network was the first full out basic cable,
- 8:18Speaker 4: so very cool time. I'm glad I was part of it,
- 8:21Speaker 4: of course, and it led to obviously many other opportunities
- 8:24Speaker 4: and wonderful things.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I was going to say that there really is
- 8:28Speaker 6: nothing like this on TV anymore, because this, you know,
- 8:31Speaker 6: as I was saying earlier, introduced me to a lot
- 8:33Speaker 6: of films that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. You know,
- 8:36Speaker 6: because again, you know, your character was great, it was
- 8:39Speaker 6: it was engaging. You actually enjoyed, you know, doing what
- 8:42Speaker 6: you were doing. You know, again, I imagine watching all
- 8:44Speaker 6: these movies. You know, you're probably you know, you're getting
- 8:46Speaker 6: a fuel for these movies. You know, this was a comedy, right,
- 8:49Speaker 6: you know Nightmare and elm Street obviously that's you know,
- 8:51Speaker 6: more of a horror.
- 8:52Speaker 3: But you know, yeah, but you know, it really is
- 8:55Speaker 3: nothing like.
- 8:56Speaker 4: This now exating Believe me, I still I still have
- 9:01Speaker 4: fans reach out to me and say, I really miss this.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I mean, I grew up with this. Of course, I
- 9:06Speaker 4: always can't say I got a lot of boys. I
- 9:09Speaker 4: think I did, but I had a lot of female
- 9:10Speaker 4: fans in the show too as well. But isn't anything
- 9:14Speaker 4: I mean, of course, Elvira was you know, she was syndicated.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I know, Cassandra Peterson, and then they had Bob Briggs
- 9:23Speaker 4: and then they had uh, they had I guess the later,
- 9:28Speaker 4: you know the movie uh, you know, a knockoff of
- 9:31Speaker 4: us in a way, but they were all good in
- 9:33Speaker 4: their own way. And then I don't know that it
- 9:35Speaker 4: might be some local people that do it. I mean
- 9:38Speaker 4: all of this spurned from local people that did it
- 9:40Speaker 4: back in the day. And you know, even Elvira started
- 9:43Speaker 4: off the local show on Channel five in LA and
- 9:46Speaker 4: then that became syndicated. But now it's a shame. It's
- 9:50Speaker 4: really it's a sweet way it looks. It's really all
- 9:53Speaker 4: about I mean, what it was about then was making
- 9:56Speaker 4: people tune in to the commercials and keeping them entertained
- 10:00Speaker 4: with these films so that you know, USA would make
- 10:02Speaker 4: money off the ads. Well I don't think anybody realizesn't, but.
- 10:08Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor.
- 10:14Speaker 1: And now back to the show.
- 10:17Speaker 4: That little show made a fortune for USA Network off
- 10:22Speaker 4: the ads, and that funded a lot of their early
- 10:26Speaker 4: original programming, like was Sam Nikita and other shows like that.
- 10:30Speaker 4: So we were like this little cable show that costs
- 10:33Speaker 4: very little to produce, that was making some big dollars,
- 10:36Speaker 4: some big bucks for the network. So good time, good
- 10:40Speaker 4: time to be in TV. Then experiment a little bit fun.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I hosted the show from ninety one to ninety eight.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Everybody thinks it was in the eighties because I kept
- 10:47Speaker 4: my hair big, but I didn't start till January of
- 10:51Speaker 4: ninety one and just had a great time with it.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and I remember those other USA shows too.
- 10:57Speaker 6: By the way you met, you mentioned Nikita, and I
- 10:59Speaker 6: remember remember like you remember Duckman, that.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Show duck Man.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I actually did a couple of episodes of it
- 11:06Speaker 4: as Ronda. I wasn't a Dark Coming, it was Rhonda.
- 11:11Speaker 4: And then I did Didn't Call All Science. I was
- 11:14Speaker 4: on an episode of that. I was on almost that
- 11:17Speaker 4: the other show I wasn't almost having Nikita darn, I'm
- 11:21Speaker 4: blanket on the other name of the show. I can't believe.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I can't think of it. But then they started off
- 11:26Speaker 4: or it was really made them put before Up All
- 11:29Speaker 4: Night was Night's Light, which just a lot of people
- 11:32Speaker 4: still remember. I vaguely remembered, but because it was before me.
- 11:35Speaker 4: But that was their first kind of out there programming
- 11:39Speaker 4: of you know, interstitial late night television. So it was
- 11:42Speaker 4: a really cool network to be part of in the
- 11:44Speaker 4: early days. And then they got into I Wish I
- 11:48Speaker 4: mean from I mean I don't watch ring as much.
- 11:50Speaker 4: I just don't knew much a lot of television. But
- 11:52Speaker 4: I always i'm told that it was better back in
- 11:54Speaker 4: the day. I think it was just it was a
- 11:56Speaker 4: little more raw and a little bit more experimental, and
- 12:00Speaker 4: you know, everything is so and everything is so much
- 12:03Speaker 4: more reality today than scripted, because we were a little
- 12:07Speaker 4: bit of both. We had a little We had a
- 12:08Speaker 4: little script and then a lot of like slim by
- 12:11Speaker 4: the seat of our pants. But it would take about
- 12:13Speaker 4: twelve hours to film those up. I mean, because I
- 12:16Speaker 4: would fill anywhere between thirty minutes of time till to
- 12:21Speaker 4: an hour, depending on how much was cut out of
- 12:23Speaker 4: the film. It's how much was you know, how short
- 12:26Speaker 4: the films are, so I it just depended on the film.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Sometimes I would have to fill a longer period. So
- 12:33Speaker 4: people think that people thought that we were live. We
- 12:36Speaker 4: were never alive and were taped in the day usually
- 12:38Speaker 4: unless we were doing a night event or something and
- 12:41Speaker 4: we shot for hours. It was a I mean, it
- 12:45Speaker 4: was definitely a lot more hard work than I think
- 12:48Speaker 4: people thought. But I had a blast, and I had
- 12:50Speaker 4: gooint people in my life and that produced it and
- 12:53Speaker 4: directed it, and a lot of people that were young
- 12:55Speaker 4: people that started off and went on to do amazing things,
- 12:58Speaker 4: like one of the young producers I think he produces
- 13:01Speaker 4: Bill More now. So I mean they went on to
- 13:03Speaker 4: do some pretty amazing things. And what goes off to that.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Yeah, And you mentioned one thing to Ronda, which is
- 13:10Speaker 6: about how TV is nowadays, and you know, I wanted
- 13:13Speaker 6: to get your take on this.
- 13:14Speaker 3: You know, I think back in.
- 13:15Speaker 6: The in the nineties and the end even the eighties,
- 13:19Speaker 6: where where you know, a lot of these new TV
- 13:21Speaker 6: shows you know, were breaking ground and they were something
- 13:24Speaker 6: new when they were fresh. My whole take on this,
- 13:27Speaker 6: and something that I've noticed is that they let the
- 13:30Speaker 6: hosts like yourself, be themselves. And they really didn't say, say, hey, Ronda,
- 13:36Speaker 6: here's a ninety page script you have to memorize.
- 13:38Speaker 3: They then, you know, would let you be yourselves.
- 13:40Speaker 6: And I think as we get along to TV nowadays,
- 13:43Speaker 6: it's more of here's the script, read it, and don't
- 13:46Speaker 6: don't venture off this script.
- 13:47Speaker 3: And I think it.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Really makes a lot of shows to cookie cutter because
- 13:52Speaker 6: all the characters are talking the same, you know what
- 13:54Speaker 6: I mean.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Absolutely, and even in reality which everybody thinks of reality,
- 14:00Speaker 4: try this. I mean, some of my friends who I
- 14:02Speaker 4: did a lot of talk shows and hosts justice and
- 14:05Speaker 4: hosted our talk shows back in that era, and a
- 14:08Speaker 4: lot of those young producers are now the people who
- 14:11Speaker 4: are kicking button reality TV. So I was kind of
- 14:14Speaker 4: I did a lot of basically reality can but they
- 14:16Speaker 4: were just segments that reality TV is not real real.
- 14:21Speaker 4: I mean, yes, they don't necessarily have scripts with that
- 14:24Speaker 4: they memorize, but the producers really push you into situations
- 14:29Speaker 4: and they'll say, oh, I'd like to see you and
- 14:33Speaker 4: that guy and that girl, and I'd like to see
- 14:36Speaker 4: this happening. So you're kind of push those those reality
- 14:39Speaker 4: shows aren't necessarily as real, so I mean they and
- 14:42Speaker 4: they kind of stole the pot to make, you know,
- 14:45Speaker 4: tension happen. And I just because of that, it's it's
- 14:50Speaker 4: kind of manufacturing and it's all, well, that's why a
- 14:52Speaker 4: lot of reality shows I feel the same, because it's
- 14:55Speaker 4: the same thing. They're pushing for fighting or they're pushing for,
- 14:58Speaker 4: you know, for stuff to have, and so it's not organic.
- 15:03Speaker 4: And yeah, we had a really good time. I mean,
- 15:05Speaker 4: even if we were spooked and we had certain jokes
- 15:07Speaker 4: that were scripting. I mean, Gilbert and I were really
- 15:09Speaker 4: able to be ourselves and it was really fun to
- 15:12Speaker 4: experiment with that. And by the way, we had so
- 15:16Speaker 4: many guests on both of us. I mean, Gilbert had
- 15:18Speaker 4: all these great comedians in New York, and I had
- 15:20Speaker 4: great comics, and I also had cheerleaders, and you know,
- 15:24Speaker 4: I had actors and actress stand up comics and just
- 15:28Speaker 4: all kinds of people, singers and what you know, from
- 15:30Speaker 4: all walks of leans. And that was fun. I kind
- 15:32Speaker 4: of came into Brondo's world back then. So yeah, I mean,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and then we would shamelessly promote whatever, you know, if
- 15:40Speaker 4: they had a movie out or a book out, we
- 15:42Speaker 4: would promote them. And we had fun with it, and
- 15:43Speaker 4: we were kid about how shameless we are. And we
- 15:47Speaker 4: would do spoofs off of Lettermen was big at the
- 15:50Speaker 4: time and his list of ten and so we would
- 15:52Speaker 4: do our own list of craziness. And I had all
- 15:55Speaker 4: kinds of fans. I had foot featthers, fans that love
- 15:57Speaker 4: my feet and my shoes and all that we would
- 16:00Speaker 4: cater to. You know, whoever would really white us and
- 16:03Speaker 4: what we pay attention, we would give them a shout
- 16:06Speaker 4: out and no, you don't see that happening anymore when
- 16:08Speaker 4: you really cater to your fans. Yeah, we did. We
- 16:12Speaker 4: took we took the fan mail. We'd have fan mail nights.
- 16:14Speaker 4: I'll just ret fan mail.
- 16:16Speaker 6: And that was fun, and you would you would also
- 16:19Speaker 6: just because you were being yourself and you know it
- 16:21Speaker 6: was also you were having fun and you're having fun
- 16:23Speaker 6: with it, you know, because you could just go and
- 16:25Speaker 6: you know, be yourself and like you said, you do
- 16:26Speaker 6: have some scripted jokes, but they allowed you, you know,
- 16:29Speaker 6: you were a character and then and you know, that's
- 16:31Speaker 6: why I think a lot of today it's just it's
- 16:33Speaker 6: harder and harder.
- 16:34Speaker 3: It's almost like they.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Want to homogenize things in terms of like you know,
- 16:38Speaker 6: I mean, you know how it is. So somebody probably
- 16:40Speaker 6: looked at, you know, a sheet or something and said, well, hey,
- 16:43Speaker 6: people really are responding to this on that show, So
- 16:46Speaker 6: what if we you know, what if we did this?
- 16:48Speaker 6: And that's why I think happens happens today is you
- 16:51Speaker 6: have people who've been looking at like so many numbers
- 16:54Speaker 6: and stuff like that that they just think that you know, hey,
- 16:56Speaker 6: look we have a formula we've made and if we
- 16:59Speaker 6: plug this for you and we're going to make hit
- 17:01Speaker 6: after hit after hit, and I think that's what.
- 17:03Speaker 4: You are hundred percent right. It's more scientific today than
- 17:08Speaker 4: it is organic. And that's that's kind of sad. I
- 17:11Speaker 4: because I've like, I've pitched TV shows and in the beginning,
- 17:15Speaker 4: I really in the beginning, I mean years ago, I
- 17:17Speaker 4: wanted to do reality show because there was so much
- 17:18Speaker 4: craziness in my life. You know, I manufacture and produced undergarments,
- 17:23Speaker 4: which of course was a you know, came out of
- 17:25Speaker 4: wearing so many intimate apparel on up all night. But
- 17:29Speaker 4: I you know, I want I thought it was such
- 17:31Speaker 4: a such a funny business to be in. I mean,
- 17:33Speaker 4: you know, you're actually talking panties and bars. And I
- 17:37Speaker 4: pitched it and you know, people, you know, they liked it,
- 17:40Speaker 4: but they wanted it. They wanted they wanted to see
- 17:43Speaker 4: my husband's my business partner, and they wanted to see
- 17:45Speaker 4: us fighting and have him, you know, me being jealous
- 17:48Speaker 4: of the models and that I said, that isn't happening.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not going to make up something that's
- 17:54Speaker 4: not real. And I mean these producers I had successful,
- 17:59Speaker 4: but he actually he kept pushing. You know what your
- 18:02Speaker 4: husband's thinking. You're trying to make something happen. It doesn't happen.
- 18:06Speaker 4: I mean, you know, we just can look at beautiful
- 18:08Speaker 4: girls and think they're beautiful, but that doesn't mean he
- 18:11Speaker 4: less or once you know that you're trying to make
- 18:14Speaker 4: something happen, it's completely untrue. So that's what happens on
- 18:17Speaker 4: those reality shows. I think it's kind of yucky. Yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 4: you know, so we didn't agree to go down that
- 18:24Speaker 4: room at all. I mean, you know that's a bad
- 18:26Speaker 4: road to go down.
- 18:28Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I mean that would cause you problems off
- 18:30Speaker 6: camera as well, because you know.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Right, yeah, I mean that's just bad. It's just bad.
- 18:36Speaker 4: And besides that, it's not who I am. I'm not negative.
- 18:39Speaker 4: That's not who I am as a person, and that's
- 18:41Speaker 4: not how I talk to my customers, you know. You know,
- 18:43Speaker 4: I'm more of a positive, flirty, fun you know, I
- 18:48Speaker 4: can't about my husband, but I don't believe in negative
- 18:52Speaker 4: and nastiest. I mean a lot of these people end
- 18:54Speaker 4: up getting divorces and some bad stuff happening on these
- 18:56Speaker 4: reality shows. But and I do think it's the fault
- 18:59Speaker 4: of the producer for pushing them down certainds. Oh yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 4: I don't need to do that. Yeah, I don't need
- 19:07Speaker 4: any of that life as love, as a positives. There's
- 19:10Speaker 4: enough negative that happens, you know that you don't want
- 19:12Speaker 4: to happen, and there's all these things in business or life,
- 19:15Speaker 4: but you don't need to push that into your life.
- 19:17Speaker 4: And that's what they want. They always want to have
- 19:19Speaker 4: that kind of ying and yang and the fight and
- 19:22Speaker 4: people fighting and arguing and pulling hand and I'm not me.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of like Jersey Shore.
- 19:29Speaker 6: I think that that reality show I think ruined a
- 19:31Speaker 6: lot of producers because we need more of that, and
- 19:33Speaker 6: it's like, you know, that was so manufacturing and you know,
- 19:37Speaker 6: now it's it's like, oh, you know, and or the Kardashians.
- 19:40Speaker 3: That was another show.
- 19:41Speaker 6: I think that just you know, it was a I
- 19:45Speaker 6: think again, like we were talking about formulas, and I
- 19:48Speaker 6: think that that was too much of a lot of
- 19:49Speaker 6: where producers could look at that and say, hey, see
- 19:51Speaker 6: we could be that that show.
- 19:54Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor
- 20:00Speaker 1: and now back to the show, right, you.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Know, look at what Kim can do from that show.
- 20:06Speaker 6: It's like, well, yeah, that's that's not something most people
- 20:09Speaker 6: really want.
- 20:10Speaker 4: All the housewives shows, you know, that's the fact that
- 20:13Speaker 4: they keep me. I've never watched any of them, you know,
- 20:15Speaker 4: and people say, I've never seen any of they just
- 20:17Speaker 4: don't intreat me or interest me at all. I know
- 20:20Speaker 4: what it means. I totally get it. I mean, hey, good,
- 20:24Speaker 4: that makes me happy. But you know, I'm like the
- 20:26Speaker 4: old session piece of people becoming celebrities because they actually
- 20:29Speaker 4: had talent, you know. I mean, I was a stand
- 20:32Speaker 4: up comic for many years and the Jerry Seinfelds were
- 20:34Speaker 4: around and those people, and that's that's that's where I
- 20:37Speaker 4: came from. People had to really be funny and write
- 20:39Speaker 4: a good joke. And my days a stand up and
- 20:43Speaker 4: a new one was kind of doing the sexiest stand
- 20:45Speaker 4: up comedy, female comic comedy at all when I started
- 20:49Speaker 4: in nineteen eighty four eighty five, and so it was
- 20:52Speaker 4: kind of a category even though what to do with me?
- 20:54Speaker 4: But I mean, I ended up getting booked and headlining
- 20:57Speaker 4: all over. But I mean, nowadays I want to be
- 21:00Speaker 4: right in there with the Amy Schumers, but back then
- 21:02Speaker 4: they didn't want that. Of course I'm not. I'm a
- 21:05Speaker 4: feminist in my own way, but but not the way
- 21:08Speaker 4: these women are. Like they may shimmer movies, you know,
- 21:12Speaker 4: she's attacking the guy. I'm still that old fashioned at all.
- 21:15Speaker 4: That's like I want the guy, you know, coming on
- 21:19Speaker 4: to the girl and being slurry. But I don't. I
- 21:21Speaker 4: don't like. It's just a I like just a little
- 21:25Speaker 4: bit more old fashion in my life. I think it's
- 21:27Speaker 4: sex to you. Yeah, but whatever you want to call
- 21:30Speaker 4: it out of a gold fashion. But that's just the
- 21:32Speaker 4: way I was brought up. And I still think, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 4: that's just I still think guys like that at the
- 21:37Speaker 4: end of the day. I don't think they wrestle and
- 21:39Speaker 4: love aggressive women and that are that aggressive, you can
- 21:42Speaker 4: still be a feminist. That's what my book's about. By
- 21:44Speaker 4: the way, I do have a book you know that
- 21:46Speaker 4: will be actually hitting. It's it's an important prefail right
- 21:51Speaker 4: now on Amazon called called Up All Night, and it's
- 21:55Speaker 4: the life and journey of an accidental feminist, which I
- 21:58Speaker 4: really think my life was because I had so many
- 22:00Speaker 4: you know, pageants. I was in this Louisiana. Then I
- 22:04Speaker 4: was the Saints cheerleader up at the New Orleans and
- 22:06Speaker 4: then I went on to Los Angeles and did Happy Days,
- 22:11Speaker 4: and you know, I was co starred on a lot
- 22:13Speaker 4: of television, and then eventually Up All Night and then
- 22:16Speaker 4: I reunited with my high school sweetheart sixteen years ago
- 22:20Speaker 4: and we started to Curt good as I Am on
- 22:22Speaker 4: the wand this year brand of intimate apparel, and so
- 22:26Speaker 4: it was about, you know, My book covers, you know,
- 22:28Speaker 4: my early life. I ran to public office when I
- 22:31Speaker 4: was young, and talks about that how I was accepted
- 22:34Speaker 4: to law school. But then I went to Hollywood and
- 22:35Speaker 4: I was very I was tight cast immediately as a
- 22:38Speaker 4: sexy girl, and I thought it, but it just it
- 22:40Speaker 4: didn't work. So eventually I just went with it. And
- 22:43Speaker 4: so the book has all these life lessons on how
- 22:46Speaker 4: to use what's God given. And I mean basically, I
- 22:50Speaker 4: was a feminist in my own way and stood up
- 22:51Speaker 4: and stood my ground and always did and I always
- 22:54Speaker 4: got things my way, but I also used the things
- 22:57Speaker 4: that were given to me in life. So I didn't know.
- 23:00Speaker 4: I wasn't just aggressive or outwardly aggressive woman, but yeah,
- 23:04Speaker 4: I did fight for my own rights, just I did
- 23:06Speaker 4: it my way. So the book has a lot of
- 23:08Speaker 4: life lessons and tips along with comedy and a lot
- 23:10Speaker 4: of pictures from Up All Night and my dunker life.
- 23:13Speaker 4: And I'm really excited it actually like I said, it's
- 23:16Speaker 4: on presale right now on Amazon called Ronde is Up
- 23:19Speaker 4: All Actually it's called up All Night by Ronda Share,
- 23:24Speaker 4: but it literally will be out October third, is when everything,
- 23:32Speaker 4: you know, it hits Hsen and all the other places.
- 23:35Speaker 4: So we're in bookstores. So we're very excited about it.
- 23:38Speaker 6: And I'm going to link to that in the show
- 23:40Speaker 6: notes everybody, because I actually saw Ron was writing the
- 23:43Speaker 6: book and I thought this would be a great time
- 23:45Speaker 6: to approach you round about you know, coming on this podcast,
- 23:48Speaker 6: because you know, thank you, oh my pleasure, Geed, thanks
- 23:51Speaker 6: for you know, for coming on. And I will link
- 23:53Speaker 6: to that in the show notes because again I love
- 23:56Speaker 6: the title obviously, and again you know some of the
- 23:58Speaker 6: things you were just talking about aout using your strengths
- 24:00Speaker 6: and you know and using you know, not trying to
- 24:03Speaker 6: fight resistance, you know what I mean, Like people were
- 24:04Speaker 6: saying to you, you know, hey, you know, hey, rond
- 24:07Speaker 6: to this or that the other thing, and you know
- 24:09Speaker 6: you just mentioned about you know, finding your your talents
- 24:11Speaker 6: and finding what you do what you really like to
- 24:13Speaker 6: do and are very good at, and you know you
- 24:16Speaker 6: use that and you you were able to you know,
- 24:18Speaker 6: build this whole empire you have. Now you have a
- 24:20Speaker 6: clothing line, yeah, which.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Is doing very well.
- 24:23Speaker 6: By the way, I actually, you know, to preap for
- 24:25Speaker 6: this interview, I actually looked it up and I didn't
- 24:28Speaker 6: know you have like the number one selling bra in
- 24:29Speaker 6: the world.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I think.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Yes, it's called the Abra Opera, which I always believed
- 24:35Speaker 4: in taglines, and it's just it's just very comfortable, wireless
- 24:41Speaker 4: no hooks and eyes bra. And it took off and
- 24:44Speaker 4: started doing it at two thousand and three. That really
- 24:46Speaker 4: took off, like in two thousand and nine ten, and
- 24:50Speaker 4: then we did an infomercial then well and behold, it
- 24:52Speaker 4: became a best selling braw in the world with over
- 24:54Speaker 4: thirty five million sold in thirty four countries and would
- 24:57Speaker 4: continue to do the bra along with other bra So
- 25:00Speaker 4: we basically came up with a category of broads. So
- 25:04Speaker 4: and we also started, you know, after a broad and
- 25:06Speaker 4: we have the Odd Lifestyle of clothing and now I'm
- 25:08Speaker 4: starting to get another loungeer line called Odd Dreams by
- 25:12Speaker 4: Ronda Share. So it's really exciting. And this is something
- 25:15Speaker 4: that came out of my husband and not getting married
- 25:17Speaker 4: and reunited and we started this business just to work
- 25:19Speaker 4: together because we hadn't seen each other really since we
- 25:22Speaker 4: were kids, and he was living in Louisiana and I
- 25:25Speaker 4: was living in Hollywood, and we put this together, never
- 25:28Speaker 4: thinking that it would have the success that it did.
- 25:30Speaker 4: But you know, we both complimented each other as business
- 25:33Speaker 4: people in media, as the spokesperson he you know, behind
- 25:36Speaker 4: the scenes and the financial end of it. So very cool.
- 25:40Speaker 4: So the book talks about love later in life and
- 25:43Speaker 4: finding a soulmate. It talks about you know, becoming an
- 25:46Speaker 4: entrepreneur later in life and that you can reinvent at
- 25:49Speaker 4: any age, and so I have a lot of tips
- 25:52Speaker 4: along with being really funny. I mean, it's a really
- 25:54Speaker 4: funny story now in my Hollywood stories and some fun pictures.
- 25:58Speaker 4: So I think it's a book for every one to read.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Both men and what I mean, we think we'll really
- 26:02Speaker 4: enjoy it. So I mean, and I have to say,
- 26:05Speaker 4: accomplishing and writing a book is something I always wanted
- 26:08Speaker 4: to do, and I actually am getting ready to start
- 26:11Speaker 4: my second one because you kind of gets into your blood.
- 26:13Speaker 4: But I have to say it's like one of the
- 26:16Speaker 4: prouder things that I've done is like, you know, actually
- 26:20Speaker 4: writing down because I thought I really feel I have
- 26:22Speaker 4: a lot to share with a lot of people, and
- 26:24Speaker 4: you also want to remember some of those amazing moments
- 26:26Speaker 4: in your life. And because if you know, I get
- 26:30Speaker 4: up and I do a lot of speak to it
- 26:31Speaker 4: and people love to hear my story and my story
- 26:35Speaker 4: with my husband, and you know, it's a very loving
- 26:38Speaker 4: tale of two people who were first first loved when
- 26:42Speaker 4: met when we were twelve and thirteen, and then getting
- 26:44Speaker 4: back together and then starting a business. I mean, gosh,
- 26:46Speaker 4: now you never even dream of that. That's why you
- 26:48Speaker 4: kind of have to go sometimes where life lead you.
- 26:51Speaker 4: And again that's like not manufactured, so people want you
- 26:53Speaker 4: to manifacture this stuff. And I just feel like you
- 26:55Speaker 4: have to be really real in life and very authentic
- 26:58Speaker 4: and stick with whatever you're doing, and you know, all
- 27:02Speaker 4: dreams can come true.
- 27:04Speaker 6: Yeah, you mentioned about reinventing yourself. You know, if there's
- 27:08Speaker 6: one thing I've learned about this podcast is I've taught
- 27:10Speaker 6: interviewed people from all walks of life, and one thing
- 27:13Speaker 6: that they've all sort of mentioned mentioned is one way
- 27:17Speaker 6: or another is reinventing themselves. You know, some people they
- 27:20Speaker 6: didn't they didn't pick up a camera until they you know,
- 27:23Speaker 6: they were forty fifty years old and they were able
- 27:25Speaker 6: to go out and make films and you know, some
- 27:27Speaker 6: people they ended up, you know, winning Sun Dance and
- 27:30Speaker 6: they ended up just sort of, you know, doing something
- 27:33Speaker 6: completely different now. And you know, it's just it's amazing.
- 27:37Speaker 4: It's taking chances, dates and a lot of so, you know,
- 27:41Speaker 4: and my husband and I got together. He was living
- 27:43Speaker 4: in the Mousian, I was living again in La We
- 27:45Speaker 4: took a chance and we moved to Florida after a
- 27:48Speaker 4: couple of years to start our business with Home Shopping Network,
- 27:51Speaker 4: which is known as HSM now it's branded as HCM.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Is located in Florida, so we see you to we
- 27:56Speaker 4: moved here that it would really help our business move
- 27:59Speaker 4: it along be in front of the white people, and
- 28:01Speaker 4: it did. But so many people are so complacent where
- 28:05Speaker 4: they live and what they do that they won't take
- 28:07Speaker 4: that chance. So it's one of the things I always
- 28:09Speaker 4: told long entrepreneurs and all people is that sometimes you
- 28:12Speaker 4: have what's the worst that will happen. You can always
- 28:15Speaker 4: go back home or back but it's where you began.
- 28:18Speaker 4: But if you don't take a chance at something, and
- 28:20Speaker 4: people get stuck in ruts and won't do it. So
- 28:23Speaker 4: when you talk about these people, I am sure I
- 28:26Speaker 4: interview with people. I am sure that they all took chances,
- 28:28Speaker 4: and there's some of us that will do that and
- 28:30Speaker 4: some that won't. So I always like to encourage people
- 28:33Speaker 4: that hey, it's cool, it's okay, go for it. Nothing
- 28:37Speaker 4: bad will happen. You'll always wonder in your life if
- 28:40Speaker 4: you don't. Just like you doing the podcast, I mean,
- 28:42Speaker 4: I'm sure it's amazing that you keep learning things, and
- 28:46Speaker 4: you know, it's amazing to interview people in here how
- 28:49Speaker 4: they've made it or how they've changed. And you know,
- 28:52Speaker 4: I use the word reinvent. It's not even that I
- 28:55Speaker 4: started out to invent and I going to get married.
- 28:58Speaker 4: We both had to change, you know, directions career for
- 29:01Speaker 4: different reasons. Now. You know, I wasn't twenty one the
- 29:05Speaker 4: sexy girl stuff anymore. Not that I couldn't be the
- 29:08Speaker 4: sexy older girl. But you know, you have to be
- 29:10Speaker 4: real and where you are in your life. And yet
- 29:12Speaker 4: I didn't want to stop working. So it's just like, okay,
- 29:15Speaker 4: let me continue doing something that is I love, near
- 29:18Speaker 4: and dear to me. I can still be myself, but
- 29:21Speaker 4: it's just another extension of myself and my husband as well.
- 29:25Speaker 4: He was a businessman. He had never done anything in
- 29:27Speaker 4: the obviously apparel world, but he just applied everything that
- 29:32Speaker 4: he knew about business to what we're doing. Same thing.
- 29:35Speaker 4: So a lot of people are just afraid to do
- 29:37Speaker 4: that and no reason to be. So, you know, living
- 29:42Speaker 4: in my dream house in Florida, I've got the five
- 29:45Speaker 4: dogs very happy, and we don't know what real life
- 29:49Speaker 4: will take us next. The book is exciting because that's
- 29:51Speaker 4: kind of taking me on another journey. I'm getting offers
- 29:54Speaker 4: to mixed speeches and appearances and some TV talk shows and.
- 30:01Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor.
- 30:08Speaker 1: And now back to the show.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Just hired a publicist and he's got some really exciting plans,
- 30:14Speaker 4: and we're to do a book signing in New Orleans
- 30:19Speaker 4: the weekend of October the twenty seventh, and then which
- 30:23Speaker 4: is a fun weekend because it goes almost right into Halloween.
- 30:26Speaker 4: And then we're going to do a book signing here
- 30:28Speaker 4: in Florida Saint Petersburg, Tampa area the weekend of October fourteenth.
- 30:34Speaker 4: So you know, just those two things I am so
- 30:37Speaker 4: excited about because I'm sure I'll get a lot of
- 30:39Speaker 4: my up all night fans. I'm sure I'll have some
- 30:41Speaker 4: fans from who watched me on HCN and our big
- 30:44Speaker 4: you know, customers of my brand. So it's me, you know,
- 30:49Speaker 4: just you just living life, don't. I don't look back
- 30:52Speaker 4: and go, gee, I wish I was still the sage
- 30:54Speaker 4: or I still wish I was. I just looked forward
- 30:56Speaker 4: and think, wow, I still got time to do accomplish
- 31:00Speaker 4: a lot more. Yeah, it's fun.
- 31:04Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, And you probably took a chance writing that
- 31:06Speaker 6: book because you know, I have a friend of mine
- 31:08Speaker 6: who's a professional author, and he said, if you actually
- 31:10Speaker 6: think about writing a book and what it really is,
- 31:13Speaker 6: he goes, you know, it's only been around for this
- 31:16Speaker 6: little sliver in human history and being able to you know,
- 31:20Speaker 6: write an actual book, put it together. And then he said,
- 31:23Speaker 6: if you look at it again, in the world that
- 31:25Speaker 6: we live in now, Rhonda, you know, you can put
- 31:26Speaker 6: you make a kindle version, you can do self polishing,
- 31:29Speaker 6: you can go through a publisher.
- 31:30Speaker 3: You have a lot of options. Yeah, and that's even
- 31:31Speaker 3: a smaller sliver.
- 31:32Speaker 6: And he said, if you think about how it actually
- 31:34Speaker 6: what it means to write a book, he goes, you
- 31:36Speaker 6: as a human being, are sitting down and writing you know,
- 31:40Speaker 6: five digits, you know, in words. So it's a couple
- 31:43Speaker 6: of thousands upon thousands of words and compiling it together
- 31:46Speaker 6: all these thoughts, and I mean it's time consuming, and
- 31:49Speaker 6: I mean you probably thought to yourself, you know, hey,
- 31:50Speaker 6: I could write this book or I could go do
- 31:52Speaker 6: another thing.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I mean, and so you really have to make a choice.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Thank you, I love it. Your son put it that way.
- 31:58Speaker 4: I've never thought about it, but it's true, and I did.
- 32:02Speaker 4: I did put it off for years and then I
- 32:04Speaker 4: because I've been wanting to do it, but I just
- 32:06Speaker 4: felt like it was the right time with everything that
- 32:07Speaker 4: was going on in my life. So finally I just
- 32:09Speaker 4: sat down. I did have a ghost writer that kind
- 32:12Speaker 4: of put my thoughts into the right order, and then
- 32:15Speaker 4: I completely rewrote what he did, and then he loved
- 32:20Speaker 4: what I did. I mean, I literally took it and
- 32:23Speaker 4: started not over, but just you know, it had to
- 32:26Speaker 4: have my voice completely. And then after that he then
- 32:31Speaker 4: took that and really pulled it together. So it was
- 32:34Speaker 4: a really you know, because I had never structured a book,
- 32:37Speaker 4: and as a new author, you really have to have
- 32:40Speaker 4: that right structure so you know, it holds people's attention
- 32:44Speaker 4: and it's my life could even when Tim Tim is
- 32:47Speaker 4: my Tim Vanda Hayes, my ghostwriter's name. He's fabulous and
- 32:50Speaker 4: I don't mind admitting it at all, but he he
- 32:54Speaker 4: just you know, really made me understand, you know that
- 32:58Speaker 4: the process and again holding the attention. And we went
- 33:02Speaker 4: back and forth of how because a lot of mine
- 33:05Speaker 4: seeing start in one part of my life, so it
- 33:08Speaker 4: kind of like goes back and it keeps going back
- 33:10Speaker 4: to certain stories. So I think that's where I needed
- 33:13Speaker 4: help because I would started saying, if I start from
- 33:16Speaker 4: the very beginning, then it's going to get boring if
- 33:17Speaker 4: I just go through my life. So we would start,
- 33:20Speaker 4: you know, we started like you know, a certain birthday,
- 33:22Speaker 4: and then we told some stories there. So it's very compelling.
- 33:25Speaker 4: I'm very excited about it. And again we put the
- 33:29Speaker 4: life lessons in. We also put like basically like a
- 33:32Speaker 4: bubble over my head, so I express to the reader
- 33:37Speaker 4: what is going on in my head, like even what
- 33:39Speaker 4: I was thinking when I was in a beauty pageant,
- 33:42Speaker 4: you know, So how did I feel when I was
- 33:44Speaker 4: on stage and in front of an audience with just
- 33:46Speaker 4: a swimsuit on. Even though I was young, I never
- 33:49Speaker 4: really you know, what was going on in your mind,
- 33:52Speaker 4: And I think that really gives an insight to the
- 33:55Speaker 4: people who read it of what was really happening in
- 33:57Speaker 4: my head and what motivated me to continue to do
- 34:00Speaker 4: what I did through life and just really excited about it.
- 34:04Speaker 4: So the second book that I'm already concocting in my
- 34:08Speaker 4: brain is perfect because it has to do with self
- 34:12Speaker 4: body image and how we look in the mirror as women.
- 34:14Speaker 4: So that covers my brand, but it also covers you know,
- 34:19Speaker 4: who I am, and then how you know some life,
- 34:21Speaker 4: you know, you gain weight, you lose weight, you know,
- 34:23Speaker 4: you get women become self conscious, but then you know,
- 34:26Speaker 4: So it deals with it, and I'm going to do
- 34:28Speaker 4: it with a lot of levity and a lot of comedy.
- 34:30Speaker 4: So I'm already putting thoughts down about that, And then
- 34:33Speaker 4: I could put a lot of the stories that I
- 34:35Speaker 4: couldn't fit into the book. I can add those stories
- 34:37Speaker 4: back into because it was hard when we edited it
- 34:40Speaker 4: that I you know, a lot of the stories I
- 34:42Speaker 4: would have loved in were taken out, but you can't
- 34:44Speaker 4: put everything in. This way, I get to put back
- 34:48Speaker 4: a few of the stories and add to it until
- 34:52Speaker 4: some more tales because I do kiss and tell a
- 34:53Speaker 4: little bit in the book about some of my Hollywood
- 34:56Speaker 4: stories and people I dated, and that's kind of fun,
- 34:59Speaker 4: and it's not done. It's just, you know, it's just
- 35:03Speaker 4: just just real. There's nothing in it that isn't one
- 35:06Speaker 4: hundred percent authentic and real. So that's cool. What your
- 35:11Speaker 4: friend said was the author I could see becoming very
- 35:14Speaker 4: addicted to that now. When I wrote my book, though,
- 35:16Speaker 4: here was the only obstacle I had. So I've got
- 35:18Speaker 4: these four little schwallas in New York. So I'm sitting
- 35:20Speaker 4: there writing and they wouldn't let me write at my desk,
- 35:23Speaker 4: so I had to write downstairs on the couch on
- 35:26Speaker 4: the computer, and basically they were climbing over me. So
- 35:30Speaker 4: months and months of dogs climbing. Now, I think that
- 35:33Speaker 4: takes a special talent to be able to have dogs
- 35:36Speaker 4: on your computer and write more so than anything. But
- 35:43Speaker 4: it's a great feat when you finish it and you
- 35:45Speaker 4: find then the only thing is this is when you
- 35:48Speaker 4: need Sometimes I think you definitely need an editor, but
- 35:51Speaker 4: because you just like don't know when you think it's over,
- 35:54Speaker 4: and then you think of oh, I have this one
- 35:56Speaker 4: more thing, and then you need that other eye, even
- 36:00Speaker 4: outside of my husband whoever read, to look at it
- 36:02Speaker 4: and go, Okay, you're done, you don't need You'll write
- 36:05Speaker 4: again and you'll put it in there. So it is
- 36:08Speaker 4: an interesting process, especially your first book.
- 36:12Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, it's funny because the friend of mine,
- 36:14Speaker 6: who's an author, who actually said that to me. He
- 36:17Speaker 6: said the first because you know, he and I would
- 36:18Speaker 6: would talk back and forth, and I've actually had him
- 36:20Speaker 6: on this podcast before and he said to me that
- 36:24Speaker 6: the hardest part about anything is actually starting it. And
- 36:27Speaker 6: I said, well, what's the second hardest part? And he
- 36:29Speaker 6: goes finishing it? And I said yes, because because you,
- 36:34Speaker 6: just like you said, you get stuck in the endless
- 36:35Speaker 6: loop of rewrites like oh should I keep this now?
- 36:38Speaker 3: Should not keep right? And then you just have to
- 36:40Speaker 3: get out your own head.
- 36:42Speaker 4: I mean that's what I did. I completely rewrote, you know,
- 36:44Speaker 4: I completely rewrote it from scratch and and and then
- 36:49Speaker 4: it took a different turn. But you know, at the
- 36:51Speaker 4: end of the day, it's exactly where I want it
- 36:52Speaker 4: to be because I think what it was, desperately it
- 36:55Speaker 4: was more autobiographical in the beginning, and I do have
- 36:58Speaker 4: a book agent, and even though self published it, we
- 37:02Speaker 4: may still bring it to you know, major publishing house,
- 37:05Speaker 4: which you can do now. And my I do have
- 37:08Speaker 4: a book agent in Los Angeles. And when he first started,
- 37:11Speaker 4: it's great, it's autobiographical. I can't believe all the things
- 37:14Speaker 4: you've done in your life. It's amazing. But the big
- 37:17Speaker 4: publishing houses don't necessarily buy complete autobiographical books now, and
- 37:25Speaker 4: he's he's a really big book agent who deals with
- 37:28Speaker 4: just the big houses, you know. So he said, I
- 37:30Speaker 4: think it needs to have more insight, and I didn't
- 37:35Speaker 4: know how to do that. At first. I didn't. I
- 37:37Speaker 4: couldn't figure it out. I couldn't figure out how to
- 37:39Speaker 4: take what I had already and then you know, make
- 37:43Speaker 4: it insightful. So that's when when I started thinking of
- 37:46Speaker 4: the bubble, you know, like people always don't know what
- 37:47Speaker 4: is that person really thinking, you know, and so it
- 37:50Speaker 4: became like the bubble over my head. And then also
- 37:54Speaker 4: each chapter will have life lessons that I learned at
- 37:56Speaker 4: that part of my life. So it really goes back
- 37:58Speaker 4: to my has my up all my ears, it has
- 38:01Speaker 4: my you know, years as a miss Louisiana. And my
- 38:06Speaker 4: New Orleans upbringing. I mean it's and that in itself
- 38:09Speaker 4: is interesting to grow up in New Orleans and then
- 38:12Speaker 4: finding love. So each each each chapter really has something
- 38:17Speaker 4: for everybody entrepreneur. I think will give a lot of
- 38:20Speaker 4: people insight to how to start a business and how
- 38:23Speaker 4: to keep going with it and not give up. So
- 38:27Speaker 4: you know, I think, you know, it tells the story
- 38:28Speaker 4: of my life, but it also has lessons. I think
- 38:31Speaker 4: it's important to you know, even if someone has no
- 38:34Speaker 4: idea who I am, and they will pick it up
- 38:36Speaker 4: and just read, Okay, this is a woman who you
- 38:39Speaker 4: know when I started. If like I can call it
- 38:43Speaker 4: kind of the Bill Cosby years, because when I was
- 38:46Speaker 4: in Hollywood, you know, we don't know what who knows
- 38:49Speaker 4: what happened and what didn't happen then, But I can
- 38:51Speaker 4: tell you I was in Hollywood in the eighties and
- 38:55Speaker 4: in that era, and guys would push themselves on you,
- 38:59Speaker 4: and they would I'd say, if you don't sleep with me,
- 39:02Speaker 4: you are I will get you black ball from the business. Now,
- 39:06Speaker 4: I never went down that route. Maybe if I would have,
- 39:08Speaker 4: I would have been a bigger star, but it wasn't
- 39:11Speaker 4: who I am. I always kid about that if I
- 39:13Speaker 4: was slept around, maybe you know, I would have worked
- 39:15Speaker 4: if it wasn't me. I was. I came from this nice,
- 39:17Speaker 4: southern strict family and it wasn't who I was. I mean,
- 39:22Speaker 4: it just wasn't. You know. I had I had boyfriends,
- 39:24Speaker 4: but they weren't you know. I never chose the big
- 39:26Speaker 4: producer types that came after me, but we need some
- 39:28Speaker 4: big big ones came through my life, but no one
- 39:31Speaker 4: was going to push that down my throat and pardoned
- 39:34Speaker 4: the con But you know it was I was not
- 39:36Speaker 4: going down that road of I had to live with myself.
- 39:40Speaker 4: So you know, everything I got, I got on my own.
- 39:42Speaker 4: I didn't have family in the business. I knew no
- 39:44Speaker 4: when when I first got to Hollywood, and literally I
- 39:47Speaker 4: just did it the old fashioned way of auditioning. Well, yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 4: when you look at Hollywood today, this connection and it
- 39:53Speaker 4: is who your father and mother is. But I moved
- 39:56Speaker 4: here I didn't know.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Fall We'll be right back after a word from our
- 40:02Speaker 1: sponsor and now back to the show.
- 40:09Speaker 4: So I'm proud of that. I'm proud that I got
- 40:12Speaker 4: where I got on my own, and you know, did
- 40:15Speaker 4: get a name for myself and did end up the
- 40:18Speaker 4: headlining at a stand up comic when I was told
- 40:21Speaker 4: you're too pretty or you're too sexy to be a comedian,
- 40:23Speaker 4: and I was like, to hell with that, I will
- 40:25Speaker 4: do it. I stood in line at the comedy store
- 40:27Speaker 4: until I got on stage in the amprov until finally
- 40:30Speaker 4: I got all the way up to headlining. And so,
- 40:33Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like I really accomplished things that
- 40:35Speaker 4: I wanted to. And pretty much the book talks about,
- 40:38Speaker 4: you know, whenever anybody would tell me I couldn't do something,
- 40:41Speaker 4: it would make me try harder. I mean, I've been
- 40:43Speaker 4: told about my whole life. I was I was either
- 40:45Speaker 4: too twenty or too sexy to do this, or I
- 40:49Speaker 4: was you know, ahead of my time. Do I stand
- 40:51Speaker 4: up on shore dresses minnise girls know I was doing it?
- 40:54Speaker 4: It had to like be a flumpy mother or or
- 40:58Speaker 4: you know, even in even in my lingerie business, you
- 41:00Speaker 4: can't do that. There's too many other brands I there.
- 41:02Speaker 4: You can't start who's going to buy the brand? So
- 41:05Speaker 4: pretty much my whole life has been you can't and
- 41:08Speaker 4: I have. So that just shows you that anybody can
- 41:12Speaker 4: do it if you If you you just can't listen
- 41:14Speaker 4: to negativity. I am a glass half full person, not
- 41:17Speaker 4: a half empty person, and I think that makes a
- 41:20Speaker 4: difference just who you are, you know. And so when
- 41:23Speaker 4: I started the book, I'm like, well, well, anybody read it?
- 41:25Speaker 4: I really feel like, you know, after having the few
- 41:28Speaker 4: people I have that have read it, they have, and
- 41:30Speaker 4: people that are like major people like you know, I
- 41:34Speaker 4: have a friend who's one of the presidents at MGM,
- 41:37Speaker 4: and he loves the book, and that really made me
- 41:39Speaker 4: feel good because these people had a lot of a
- 41:42Speaker 4: lot of manuscripts go past their death. So who knows,
- 41:45Speaker 4: maybe one day it'll be a book. I mean, not
- 41:48Speaker 4: a book, a movie, you know, not hopefully not a
- 41:51Speaker 4: B movie. But I'll take a brooded too. I'm fine
- 41:54Speaker 4: with that.
- 41:55Speaker 6: It would be really a meta if you actually introduced
- 41:57Speaker 6: it on like a special edition of USA Up All
- 41:59Speaker 6: Night in movie.
- 42:01Speaker 4: Well, you know what's really funny, Dave, was the very
- 42:04Speaker 4: first thing I did on the All Night was the
- 42:06Speaker 4: very first movie I ever introduced was, or rather on
- 42:10Speaker 4: USA All right, was Basic Training, which is a movie
- 42:13Speaker 4: I started which had like three seconds of toplessness, which
- 42:19Speaker 4: I was mortified to do at the time. It was
- 42:21Speaker 4: in my contract that it didn't have to be more
- 42:23Speaker 4: than three seconds. And of course I went on to
- 42:25Speaker 4: do Playboy in ninety one called Girls of the of Comedy,
- 42:31Speaker 4: which I actually brought that idea to them, and then
- 42:34Speaker 4: that next year up All Night had like taken office,
- 42:37Speaker 4: so they came back and offered me a celebrity pictorial
- 42:40Speaker 4: and so that was really cool. So you know, I
- 42:42Speaker 4: have you know, the book also talks about my Playboy
- 42:45Speaker 4: years and going to the Mansion, so a lot of
- 42:47Speaker 4: people like that in itself, you know, because I did
- 42:50Speaker 4: go to the Mansion for many many years. Actually I
- 42:52Speaker 4: had a line with Crystal Hefner a couple of years back.
- 42:56Speaker 4: You know, I should say the last Missus Haffen. I
- 43:00Speaker 4: believe the last Missus Haffen who is still Missus heffsnot.
- 43:04Speaker 4: But you know, so you know, just just thwomps through
- 43:07Speaker 4: all those kind of interesting things, uh and along with
- 43:11Speaker 4: you know, I do a lot of charity, wook, and
- 43:13Speaker 4: it talks about that giving back once you've kind of
- 43:15Speaker 4: hit a certain spot in life. You we enjoy my
- 43:18Speaker 4: husband and I, you know, getting back to the community
- 43:20Speaker 4: and kind of hits all that.
- 43:24Speaker 3: But you mentioned them.
- 43:26Speaker 6: I'm sorry, have you mentioned the Comedy Store. I just
- 43:28Speaker 6: want to ask this for I forget you mentioned the
- 43:30Speaker 6: Comedy Store. Did you ever meet a comedian there named
- 43:33Speaker 6: Don Barris?
- 43:35Speaker 4: Okay doesn't name from what what how old or what era?
- 43:40Speaker 4: What era of He he.
- 43:43Speaker 6: Started in the nineties, like the early nineties. He was
- 43:47Speaker 6: there and now he's like the he does the the
- 43:49Speaker 6: he's the headliner on the Ding Dong Show on the
- 43:51Speaker 6: Monday nights.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Oh maybe that's why I may know the saying that
- 43:55Speaker 4: kind of and the probable I mean that would have
- 43:57Speaker 4: I still would have been out there. Of course in
- 43:59Speaker 4: ninety one because of me. I was still on the
- 44:01Speaker 4: still on the road, gosh, I mean I was on
- 44:03Speaker 4: the road until I mean I still actually occasionally do stuff,
- 44:07Speaker 4: but definitely up into like two thousand and six or seven,
- 44:11Speaker 4: I was still, you know, out there. So I guess
- 44:14Speaker 4: I know a name from that, but I can't say
- 44:17Speaker 4: I remember, like medium, I just thought maybe I'm like,
- 44:26Speaker 4: I'm thinking like maybe I dated them, and I don't remember.
- 44:31Speaker 6: He's been out there for years and he actually does
- 44:33Speaker 6: like a lot of work with the Comedy Store.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Every night he's there, and.
- 44:37Speaker 4: Uh, yeah, his name was really familiar to me, absolutely.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Because he was like him and Mark Maron are really
- 44:43Speaker 3: good friends.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Okay, well I am sure that we came across each other,
- 44:49Speaker 4: but that would have been during my up all night years.
- 44:52Speaker 4: He's really funny, you know. And and I've met so
- 44:55Speaker 4: many people to my life, like through New Orleans and
- 44:57Speaker 4: then my comedy years and even might now a power
- 45:00Speaker 4: of years ago. I know that name. There's there's a
- 45:03Speaker 4: comedy comic out that's doing really well, nate out there
- 45:08Speaker 4: now named Sebastian. Do you know who he is? Okay,
- 45:13Speaker 4: if you, if you, if you just google, Sebastian will
- 45:16Speaker 4: come up comic. I can never pronounce his last name right,
- 45:18Speaker 4: but anyway, he's major. He is like major, like major shows,
- 45:23Speaker 4: major showtime, all that stuff. And Sebastian used to wait
- 45:27Speaker 4: on me as a waiter at the Fourth Seasons bar
- 45:30Speaker 4: I want to go There was around the corner from
- 45:32Speaker 4: my house in Beverley Health and we'd go there and
- 45:34Speaker 4: he was funny and he would say to me, I
- 45:36Speaker 4: was on up all night at the time, and he
- 45:37Speaker 4: would say, I want to be you. You know, La
- 45:41Speaker 4: has a lot of way those that are actors, you know,
- 45:43Speaker 4: I mean, it's like the only one thing I didn't do.
- 45:46Speaker 4: But you know people that legitimately that's that's their job,
- 45:49Speaker 4: that's their day job with their night job. And he
- 45:51Speaker 4: would say, I really admire. It's really sweet because he
- 45:53Speaker 4: goes would I admire he was a female comic, and
- 45:56Speaker 4: he when he took off, he took off. I mean
- 45:59Speaker 4: he really took them. And I didn't even realize it
- 46:01Speaker 4: because I've been so out of the loop myself, just
- 46:03Speaker 4: doing my own thing in the last few years. And
- 46:06Speaker 4: then I came across from like on social media, and
- 46:08Speaker 4: I was like, man, I'm proud of you. I mean,
- 46:11Speaker 4: you know, because he said he was doing going to
- 46:12Speaker 4: do it, and he did it, and he's got a
- 46:15Speaker 4: whole different take. So yeah, I you know, stand up
- 46:18Speaker 4: comedy is a really rough road. Most of my friends
- 46:21Speaker 4: that even started, like I started in mayby four, but
- 46:24Speaker 4: most of my friends has started in eighty four are
- 46:25Speaker 4: still doing stand up. People usually don't leave that world.
- 46:29Speaker 4: And the cool thing is you can get older and
- 46:32Speaker 4: still do comedy, but you just have to find kind
- 46:34Speaker 4: of different venues because you know, it is a younger
- 46:37Speaker 4: world at the comedy club. So then people move to ships,
- 46:39Speaker 4: they do boats, they do you know, comedy cruises, they
- 46:43Speaker 4: do theater, you know, so you can keep at it.
- 46:46Speaker 4: But I have to say I'm not I'm happy, Dave,
- 46:48Speaker 4: and I'm not out there on the road doing that
- 46:50Speaker 4: for a living. Although every now and then there's a
- 46:53Speaker 4: piece of me that, you know, my friend will come
- 46:55Speaker 4: to town, Carol mcgommery, she's hysterical out of New York,
- 46:58Speaker 4: and she gets up at the club and I and
- 47:00Speaker 4: I'll have a couple of glass of wine and I'll
- 47:02Speaker 4: be like, I want to do what you do. She's like, no,
- 47:05Speaker 4: you don't want to give up your life. Your life
- 47:08Speaker 4: is good. I said, well, it's still it's still in
- 47:11Speaker 4: my blood, you know, to make people laugh, and it's
- 47:14Speaker 4: still like it once it's in your blood, it's your blood.
- 47:17Speaker 4: But every now and then I do Rhonda's Pajama Party
- 47:20Speaker 4: and then I'll host it and I'll do the stand
- 47:22Speaker 4: up and then I have like four other females and
- 47:24Speaker 4: sometimes I put a male comic in this. So maybe
- 47:27Speaker 4: with the book coming out, we'll do that again, which
- 47:28Speaker 4: would be really cool.
- 47:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I was just gonna say when the book comes
- 47:31Speaker 6: When the book comes out, if you do like a tour,
- 47:34Speaker 6: like you know, if there are a tour, you get
- 47:35Speaker 6: like another taste of it. So then at the end
- 47:37Speaker 6: round you cry to be like, well, you know what,
- 47:39Speaker 6: I got it out of my system again.
- 47:40Speaker 3: But now I'm gonna I'm glad. I'm glad. I'm not
- 47:43Speaker 3: I'm not doing this again for until the next book.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Right exactly exactly, but I do. But you know, what
- 47:50Speaker 4: I love doing is to speaking tours. So I'm excited
- 47:54Speaker 4: about that because I get a lot of it doing.
- 47:56Speaker 4: You know, we want Arst Young and all these major
- 47:59Speaker 4: entrepreneurial for the SPRA and I mean I didn't even
- 48:02Speaker 4: think about myself as an entrepreneur, you know, but all
- 48:04Speaker 4: of a sudden we're winning all these awards and it
- 48:07Speaker 4: was amazing. So I found myself being asked to speak
- 48:11Speaker 4: locally and regionally, and all of a sudden, I'm getting
- 48:16Speaker 4: up making these speeches about being an entrepreneur but I'm funny,
- 48:19Speaker 4: and then they're asking questions spent my Hollywood background. So
- 48:24Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it. I mean, I had never done
- 48:26Speaker 4: just speaking without doing stand up obviously, so I'm really
- 48:30Speaker 4: excited that now I'm being submitted and being asked to
- 48:33Speaker 4: speak because you know, there's there's there's a few comedic speakers,
- 48:37Speaker 4: but not many that can, you know, just talk about
- 48:40Speaker 4: their life and how they did it. So I'm looking
- 48:42Speaker 4: forward to doing that. It's a little bit of stand
- 48:45Speaker 4: up and it's a little bit of you know, information getting.
- 48:48Speaker 4: So I look forward to that too. That maybe who
- 48:51Speaker 4: knows that that may be the next the next sort
- 48:54Speaker 4: of stand up comedy. It will just be you know,
- 48:55Speaker 4: entrepreneurs speak at sieeches.
- 48:58Speaker 6: You have to do like a different posts podcast too,
- 49:00Speaker 6: like Johnny Dumas's podcast I'm Just Throw on Fire.
- 49:04Speaker 3: I'm sure you've heard of his podcast.
- 49:05Speaker 6: Yeah, so it's like the one podcast in the world
- 49:08Speaker 6: right up there, like Mark Maren's and like this is
- 49:11Speaker 6: your American life and but but you know that's good.
- 49:14Speaker 4: So you don't have to help me get this is
- 49:15Speaker 4: kind of all near to me too, you know when
- 49:17Speaker 4: you have your head to you know, I I've been
- 49:20Speaker 4: a very focused person in my world. So you know,
- 49:23Speaker 4: my life has been Women's for Daily and Fashion and
- 49:26Speaker 4: so I'm pretty excited about opening this new chapter of
- 49:30Speaker 4: Like you said during podcasts, I mean I did Gilbert Godfrey.
- 49:34Speaker 4: If you talk about dirty, you're telling me I can
- 49:36Speaker 4: be uncensored. If you ever go Google. I'm sure hopefully
- 49:40Speaker 4: I'll do it again talk about my book. But if
- 49:42Speaker 4: you if you Google and find the roch to Share
- 49:44Speaker 4: podcast with Gilbert Godfreed, you might it is beyond dirty.
- 49:50Speaker 4: It is like I mean, he and I when we
- 49:52Speaker 4: get together, I don't know what it is, but he
- 49:54Speaker 4: brings out the naughty and man, he's naughty, but he
- 49:57Speaker 4: think it's naughtier.
- 50:02Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor,
- 50:08Speaker 1: and now back to the show.
- 50:11Speaker 4: It's pretty funny. I mean, you know, I've had people
- 50:13Speaker 4: say they were walking down the street and listening to
- 50:16Speaker 4: it and laughing out loud, people like staring at them.
- 50:18Speaker 4: So yeah, I was pretty funny because he could do impression.
- 50:22Speaker 4: So I would name different guys, you know, from my
- 50:24Speaker 4: pastor in Hollywood, and then he would go off and
- 50:26Speaker 4: just do an impression of them and you're just laughing,
- 50:29Speaker 4: you know. So he's one of the quotes on the
- 50:31Speaker 4: back of my book that you know, says to buy
- 50:35Speaker 4: the book. And then I have Mindy Grossman on the back,
- 50:38Speaker 4: who's the CEO of Weight Watchers and was the CEO
- 50:40Speaker 4: of HSN major business person. And then I have Joy
- 50:44Speaker 4: mcgano who the movie Joy was written about, so pretty
- 50:50Speaker 4: pretty exciting, plus a lot of other friends on the
- 50:52Speaker 4: inside and celebrities, but it kind of hit show business
- 50:56Speaker 4: and entrepreneurs and the CEOs. So I'm really excited. I
- 51:01Speaker 4: know I'm talking more about the book, but I guess
- 51:03Speaker 4: it's just that I'm really excited about it a lot.
- 51:05Speaker 4: With my line. Listen, you know, please go to wandashare
- 51:07Speaker 4: dot com, go to HSN dot com check out. I
- 51:10Speaker 4: had this full, amazing line of everything from the most
- 51:14Speaker 4: amazing undergarments to lounge wear, and I was really into it.
- 51:18Speaker 4: We literally designed everything in house here in Florida, and
- 51:22Speaker 4: then we manufacture all over the world and a lot
- 51:25Speaker 4: of a lot of my most of my apparel, like
- 51:28Speaker 4: my clothing is made in the USA, and then a
- 51:31Speaker 4: lot of my other pieces are made in Turkey and
- 51:33Speaker 4: we make it China. But we use beautiful factories with
- 51:36Speaker 4: real high quality everything. So that's very exciting too. And
- 51:40Speaker 4: when you get into that world, and that was listen to.
- 51:43Speaker 4: My husband and I taught ourselves. We didn't come from
- 51:45Speaker 4: that world at all. I came from a background show business.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Next thing, you know, you know, we're reaching out to
- 51:51Speaker 4: factories and you know that was quite an interesting time
- 51:56Speaker 4: in our lives too. But again, you're never too old
- 51:59Speaker 4: to read to recreate too well, reinvent and find another
- 52:04Speaker 4: career and find love, find all those wonderful things.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and that that is such a wonderful signment, Ronda.
- 52:10Speaker 6: And yeah, I mean I will definitely send you the
- 52:12Speaker 6: links to to the podcast I just mentioned.
- 52:14Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Just check them out because.
- 52:17Speaker 4: Please, I want, I want to put it up for sure.
- 52:19Speaker 4: There goes my dog. They knew, they knew the end
- 52:22Speaker 4: of the podcast.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Yeah, they can feel, they can feel. Yeah, we haven't talked.
- 52:27Speaker 4: You're like, mommy, I'm hungry. I must I must acknowledge
- 52:32Speaker 4: their names. We have Chicky, Tiki, Sweetie, Lexi, and Brandy,
- 52:37Speaker 4: like two and a half are rescues. When I got
- 52:41Speaker 4: it at a notion, she's kind of a rescue.
- 52:45Speaker 6: And now you mentioned your names are probably like now
- 52:47Speaker 6: even more eager because they're not the Probably they're probably like,
- 52:50Speaker 6: what yea is it? Do we do something that you
- 52:52Speaker 6: know what's going on? But I will link to everything
- 52:55Speaker 6: Randa that you mentioned.
- 52:56Speaker 4: You you know, you're.
- 52:59Speaker 3: Just quickly before we before we.
- 53:01Speaker 6: Sign off on this episode of the podcast, I just
- 53:03Speaker 6: have one final question, and I just want to ask,
- 53:06Speaker 6: is there anything that you might want to just you know,
- 53:08Speaker 6: talk about or discuss, or is there anything you want
- 53:10Speaker 6: to just to say to sort of sum up this
- 53:11Speaker 6: whole podcast interview.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Well, you know, just summing up is like I am
- 53:16Speaker 4: a positive person. Everybody out there is to think positive
- 53:19Speaker 4: and try to run from negativity. I mean, just don't
- 53:23Speaker 4: surround yourself with negativity and don't listen. I mean always,
- 53:26Speaker 4: I always like to say, put a stake in it
- 53:28Speaker 4: and go for it. In your life, joy your life,
- 53:30Speaker 4: Savor your life. I love food, I love everything. You know,
- 53:33Speaker 4: I in moderation obviously, you know I love fine wine.
- 53:38Speaker 4: But I say, enjoy life, Enjoy the journey of your
- 53:41Speaker 4: life and of your business, and then it's fun and
- 53:45Speaker 4: just don't be negative. So that kind of sums up
- 53:47Speaker 4: my life. And I've had a had a wonderful life
- 53:50Speaker 4: so far, and I hopefully and will continue to be amazing.
- 53:53Speaker 4: Who knows where I'll on up next, maybe doing a podcast,
- 53:56Speaker 4: who knows, but but I thank you Dave. It's been
- 53:59Speaker 4: wonder fall. And I just I know you're gonna link.
- 54:02Speaker 4: But I do have a website two or a web
- 54:04Speaker 4: page of rondasher speaks dot com. So that's for anybody
- 54:08Speaker 4: who is interested in having me as a speaker, along
- 54:11Speaker 4: with rondashare dot com and of course Amazon with the book.
- 54:14Speaker 4: And I know that you'll promote the rest. And I
- 54:17Speaker 4: thank you so much.
- 54:19Speaker 6: My pleasure, Ronda, Ronda, it has been so great talking
- 54:22Speaker 6: to you.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Thank you, Dave, it really has. Again.
- 54:25Speaker 6: I I used to watch us ample night all the time.
- 54:28Speaker 6: Uh you know, I know I've already mentioned that, but
- 54:30Speaker 6: I thought I mentioned it again. I mean because of you,
- 54:32Speaker 6: I found the Toxic Avenger and I've had Lloyd on
- 54:34Speaker 6: the show.
- 54:37Speaker 4: I love Lloyd. The last big film I did, he
- 54:40Speaker 4: was in it. We had a scene together. Oh and
- 54:42Speaker 4: I was like, I was like a like a bad prisoner,
- 54:44Speaker 4: of course, because that's what maybe it was. What's the
- 54:48Speaker 4: name of the film, I can't remember, but anyway, but
- 54:52Speaker 4: we actually won Best Film of the Best BET Film
- 54:54Speaker 4: of the Year. But anyway, I love Lloyd. Lloyd used
- 54:57Speaker 4: to come on up all night all the time, and
- 54:59Speaker 4: TOXI came on. I mean literally, he was one of
- 55:01Speaker 4: my regular guests. So he's He's a great guy, isn't
- 55:05Speaker 4: brilliant brilliant man? Great guy.
- 55:07Speaker 6: It was funny really really really quick because I know
- 55:09Speaker 6: you have to run really quickly. When he came on
- 55:11Speaker 6: the podcast, he said that he started trauma in prison
- 55:15Speaker 6: with him and Michael Hurts because and he was like, well,
- 55:18Speaker 6: I was Michael's prison bitch, and he's like, you know
- 55:21Speaker 6: we got married. Well, people who listened that podcast actually
- 55:24Speaker 6: wrote into me and they were like.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Dave, is that true?
- 55:26Speaker 6: Did he really form this in prison? And I said no.
- 55:29Speaker 6: I said it would have been funny if he did.
- 55:31Speaker 6: But I was like, you know, we should have put
- 55:34Speaker 6: a disclaimer before Lloyd's interview, being like, don't don't pay
- 55:37Speaker 6: attention to I think.
- 55:38Speaker 3: Lloyd says, it's all I know.
- 55:40Speaker 4: I know, and he is so funny and so brilliant,
- 55:43Speaker 4: such a family man. I'm a great guy and and
- 55:45Speaker 4: really helped up on up all night because he supplied
- 55:48Speaker 4: this great films and you know, he we had TOXI.
- 55:51Speaker 4: What can I say. I'm not going to tell you
- 55:53Speaker 4: what a good lover he was. People don't believe that.
- 55:55Speaker 3: To RNDA of absolute pleasure talking thank.
- 56:01Speaker 4: You and I'm sure we'll do it again anytime, please,
- 56:04Speaker 4: thank you.
- 56:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I was gonna say when the second book comes out,
- 56:06Speaker 6: you have to come back on.
- 56:08Speaker 4: You've got It, You've got It, or the next time
- 56:11Speaker 4: I'm hosting, or whatever you want another reason, I'll always
- 56:14Speaker 4: look back on your show somehow.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Please Rna, the door is always open. I thank you
- 56:18Speaker 3: so much, Thank you.
