Answering Marcionism
In the second century, a teacher named Marcion proposed something radical: the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament are not the same God. The violent, wrathful deity of the Hebrew scriptures, he argued, had nothing to do with the loving Father Jesus revealed.
This week we examine Marcionism, why it was wrong then, why it keeps resurfacing in different forms today, and what a correct understanding of the one God across both Testaments actually looks like.
