- 0:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Hi everyone, it's Justin here with Voices for Voices.
- 0:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank you very much for joining us, whether you're here in the United States or abroad.
- 0:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, whether uh this is your first episode, whether you've been with us from the beginning, thank you very much for making Voices for Voices a part of your life at one time or another.
- 0:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you can give us the big thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, uh, reshare, repost, uh, maybe even uh reach out to 25 or 50 of your contacts to share the voices for voices podcast with them.
- 0:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'd greatly appreciate that.
- 0:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And those are all things that are free, they have no cost to do those.
- 0:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, we are grateful for you to be here, and we are well on our way to reaching and helping at least three billion people over the course of my lifetime and beyond.
- 1:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So, again, welcome to uh one and all, and we are just uh ecstatic because without you, we don't have a show, uh, we don't have a reason to do the show.
- 1:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, so thank you for that.
- 1:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, you know, we talk about you know the the mental health side a lot because voices for voices is uh has that uh underlying foundation of mental health, trauma, recovery.
- 1:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh what we're doing is we want to celebrate everybody, everybody's voice.
- 1:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and everybody's voice may be different, some may have their voice and use that with uh music, some may use that with their the spoken word, uh, some may use that by playing a sport, uh sign language.
- 2:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's all kinds of ways to express your voice.
- 2:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So the voice isn't just the spoken word, uh that's what I use uh a majority of the time is the spoken word, and I uh nobody's perfect, I'm not perfect, so I do say um and like and all these, and so I say so a lot.
- 2:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but I'm just being myself, and that's what we want you to be.
- 2:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We want you to be yourself and uh share your voice the the best way, and uh we uh we all have a voice, many different voices uh that uh some people think that we're insinuating that it has to be the spoken word, and it doesn't have to be the spoken word, it can be many different things uh to be the voice uh of you, of others, of myself, and uh just felt it was a good refresher to to talk about that.
- 3:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh yeah, the mental health is again a huge part of our our show.
- 3:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It it's uh it's the foundation of everything we do.
- 3:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we don't always again have to say the words mental health in each show uh to have that understanding that that's what we're talking about.
- 3:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, we're talking about the mental health, we're talking about the voice, um, not the show, the voice, you know, our individual voices.
- 4:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I think you know, taking taking a break from things is a good thing.
- 4:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, we talked about a a quote that uh 50 Cent had uh that we talked about, I think it was our last show, about you know, we want to stay consistent in what we're doing, otherwise our competition's gonna overcome us at a certain point.
- 4:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I want to give a caveat to that, in that that doesn't mean we always every single day, let's just let's just use I mean you can use any type of any type of example, but we got to take some rest from time to time to let the body catch up from where we are.
- 5:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So whether that's playing an instrument, whether that's singing, whether that's working out at the gym, whatever that may be, staying consistent, we can stay consistent by adding in a day here or there where we're having a day off or part of a day off.
- 5:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I think that's big.
- 5:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that is part of the staying consistent.
- 5:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because if because if we just look at if we just look at you know, going to the gym, we can this was the first time I had learned the word burnout.
- 6:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, we could just burn out uh if we go every single day and we're doing these killer workouts, and you know, at some point our body needs you know to repair itself.
- 6:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um you know what that's why sleep and rest is so important, uh, so our um so our body can repair, our muscles can repair and and continue to to grow.
- 6:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we want to want to think about it like that too.
- 6:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It doesn't mean again every single day we have to continu that we have to actually do something.
- 7:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: While we would like to our bodies again, are you know are telling us hey, we might need a break.
- 7:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Hey, we we went to the gym three days in a row, did a bunch of hard workouts, our body needs a needs a break.
- 7:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we take a break.
- 7:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Big deal.
- 7:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't mean we're losing uh traction to our competition.
- 7:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It actually means the opposite.
- 7:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It means we're giving our body time to repair and uh it and so we want to think about it like that where you don't have to do something every single we'd like to do something every single day.
- 8:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Now there's things like I've gone at certain points a lot of days in a row where we would film a show, and even there it's it's mental it exhausts our mind at some point, and so when it does that, we just need a need a break.
- 8:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If we need to take a nap, we take a nap, we take a rest.
- 8:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Big deal.
- 8:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not it's not a big deal.
- 8:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We want our minds, our bodies, our spirits, our souls, we want we want to be as strong as humanly possible in all facets.
- 9:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, physical health, mental health, you know, you get the drift.
- 9:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I found today being one of those days.
- 9:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But I thought, all right, three days in a row at the gym, take a break.
- 9:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Our mind gets exhausted too.
- 9:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I get back to that word burnout.
- 9:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I found myself fell asleep for like twenty or twenty five minutes after I woke up.
- 10:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then here we are, we're doing the show.
- 10:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But my mind feels refreshed, and that's that's the part that matters, is by feeling refreshed.
- 10:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I have the the strength and ability to film this particular episode and to talk about it in a transparent way, where we usually don't talk about that transparent, you know.
- 10:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We try to just power through everything.
- 10:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, when we power through everything, like I learned in 2017, I didn't have any power left, um, hypothetically, because I had powered through and powered through.
- 11:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wasn't getting adequate rest, I wasn't, you know, um getting getting help on the mental side.
- 11:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's where everything kind of crashed.
- 11:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So again, that was like my worst day, but also one of the best days because I was able to finally get over myself and get the help that I needed.
- 11:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so you may be in a similar situation.
- 12:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Get help, and there's no shame in that at all.
- 12:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: None whatsoever.
- 12:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because if we just keep trying to power through and power through and power through, there's gonna be a crash at some point.
- 12:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Call it like the when I used to go out binge drinking, you know, Red Bull or you know, these energy drinks.
- 12:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The next day I'd crash around two or three, and then I'd have to basically try to reboot my whole body because I just crashed so that's that's something that's important to to to think about and then to think about when you get help, how it's impacting whether you get help or you don't how it's impacting you know our lives.
- 13:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If I didn't get the help I needed, I I've meant this and said this a lot.
- 13:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know where I'd be at today.
- 13:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if you're at that point, just go get some help.
- 13:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not that hard.
- 13:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't feel judged.
- 14:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh well.
- 14:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If other people want to judge me because of that, that's fine.
- 14:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm over that too.
- 14:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If they want to go, oh Justin, he needs help or he got help.
- 14:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, there's there's Justin.
- 14:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Talk about mental health again.
- 14:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, there's that show.
- 14:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, that show's got well over five hundred episodes.
- 14:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it doesn't bother me.
- 14:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: People are gonna say what they're gonna say.
- 14:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They're gonna do what they're gonna do.
- 15:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And the more we focus on if we need help, the less that noise is gonna matter.
- 15:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Cause there's always gonna be people they're gonna judge.
- 15:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Always.
- 15:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, there's just Sadly it's you know human nature.
- 15:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: People are gonna gossip.
- 15:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, it's human nature.
- 15:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But getting help.
- 15:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doing things you like to do, make you happy, make you laugh.
- 15:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Self-care.
- 16:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Those are all things self-care.
- 16:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: For me it's you know, getting a haircut, uh now going to the gym.
- 16:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And there's others where it just feels good to do it, like getting my hair cut, having a full tank of gas.
- 16:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's a little bit of self-care, right?
- 16:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because I know that the if I have a full tank of gas, I'm not gonna run out of gas for a while.
- 16:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You might say, Oh, that's silly.
- 16:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It doesn't matter.
- 17:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't matter to me what anybody thinks.
- 17:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, that's silly.
- 17:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay, it's silly, but you know what?
- 17:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's things that you like to do that are self-care for you, and I'm not here judging you or anybody else about it.
- 17:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm talking about it and sharing it for me.
- 17:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That there are lots of things that can be self-care.
- 17:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And self-care helps us rejuvenate.
- 17:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Brought up sleep, rest.
- 17:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Can be on a schedule at the gym.
- 17:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We include a couple three off days out of a seven-day week.
- 18:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Help somebody rejuvenate.
- 18:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's what it comes down to.
- 18:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I know there's people watching, listening that may be in the same boat as I am and was.
- 20:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We take extra an extra day and re-rejuvenate, and then we come back and then we do our thing, whatever that is.
- 21:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't have to be a show, doesn't have to be what what I do, what we do as an organization.
- 21:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You gotta find what works for you, and you gotta buy into it.
- 21:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you don't believe in yourself.
- 21:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But if I don't believe in them, how how can how can I expect others to to believe or buy into into uh what I'm doing?
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're doing as an organization.
- 22:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Very, very, very, very hard to do.
- 22:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And last but not least, if you live in an area where there is extreme heat where I live, we have extreme heat.
- 22:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We want to make sure that we're all being safe.
- 22:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So try to remain indoors, stay where there is air conditioning, stay as cool as possible.
- 22:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There is a high opportunity for heat stroke, which can be fatal not only to human beings, but also to pets.
- 22:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have a pet dog.
- 23:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I was reading up on that, that they can get heat stroke and pass away.
- 23:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that means if we're bringing a pet with us in the car, we don't leave the windows up if we don't can't bring them in.
- 23:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it means we should probably leave them at home.
- 23:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because we want everybody to be safe.
- 23:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't want to come out of a store and have our pet not doing too well health-wise.
- 23:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The average temperature of a dog is 101 degrees.
- 24:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Inside the car, well it may be 90 degrees outside.
- 24:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Inside cars are hotter than that.
- 24:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Then again, we could you know we can cool them off, put a sprinkler out, fooling on the outside for a few minutes.
- 24:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Keep them in the air as much as possible, just like humans.
- 24:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: See, I'm learning things that I didn't know before we we had a dog.
- 24:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we covered a little bit of everything today.
- 24:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you for being with us, whether you're watching, listening, here in the United States or abroad.
- 25:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you can give us a big thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost, get your phone out, share the voices for voices podcast with 2550 contacts.
- 25:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Promise they will not be disappointed.
- 25:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it's free.
- 25:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: All those all those things we listed, they're all free to do.
- 25:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you for being with us for another show.
- 25:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you on the next show.
- 25:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Until then, next time, let's celebrate the voices of everyone, and let's be a voice for not only ourselves and whatever that looks like, whatever that voice is.
- 25:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So let's be a voice for ourselves and another person.
- 26:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you next time.
- 26:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Bye bye, everybody.
