- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: the boys are in the house minus a few technical difficulties.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: We have a new recording software today after messing with our old one for a moment.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: So we are all on edge and pissy and just ready to go.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: This is the first statement of boys.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: That was rough.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: 11 o'clock store were at noon, but we made it.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: Good to go boys.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it is always a good day when we're together despite technical difficulties and we are diving back into a fun episode today today today's episode is going to be a little bit of this little bit of that and a little bit of recap on season one of the sports card CEO this will be our 44th episode launch in live and it's pretty impressive boys 44 weeks in a row without missing a beat I got to say if we had an applause of ourselves that's pretty impressive we did it that's pretty impressive.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_03]: 44 weeks in a row, I can't, you know, outside of bodily functions.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: There isn't anything I've done 44 weeks in a row over the last 44 weeks and hang out with you clowns.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, let's all consider ourselves honored here.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, a commitment to task here, right?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like when we first started this thing, it was like,
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest thing and the biggest commitment we all made to each other was like we have to do this every week like we have to stay committed.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, in consistent fashion, we do this roundtable, starting off the show.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_03]: So, current, you are on my left, which is normally how I start this whole thing.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll go current, Bubba, and then hammer close it out on a little weekly, see you around table, what you got, Bubba.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: And card perspective, I have been doing some buying.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I got the alien paying you super fractor.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: My guy, my guy, Tony was my guy.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: My guy, it's a little blue chip reference for those of you that don't know.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Blue chip, maybe.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: I got some other some other good stuff.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I found the I find the QC to be pretty tough on these.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the the centering is not the best.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: The back corner issue is the same kind of issue here, which brings the question of like, you know, which we might get into a little later of which cards to grade, which not to even bother grading anymore.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like as it even worth creating nines anymore, you know, it's a legitimate question here.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: It shouldn't be, but it is other than that.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: I again, I'm just keeping real busy at work at a really front of field weekend of activities all throughout the weekend.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was nonstop.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I didn't, you know, the card stuff on the weekends for me tends to just get it's not really happening these days.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: on field like pumpkin farms like what did you do.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like pump I don't have pumpkin farms.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: We have farms.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: We went out to the Hampton's on Sunday for the day left really in the morning went to a went to a farm and do a corn maze and did some Apple picking among some other things that I'm going to go out of a bucket or like alpha of an actual tree.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: off of a tree.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: They have apple trees on the Hamptons.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_03]: Look at this.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't ever.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: There's apple trees in.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: You're a man.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: You're a man of so many layers, man.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're a human.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're a human.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're a
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: You could we corn in New York when I was corn that was just sweet because it was cut by his wife.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was actually a fun field day got back at like 10 p.m. on Sunday night.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Second we get back a carry my middle son into the you know he fell asleep at a car carry me to the apartment and all over the place.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: So that's been my weekend and my week nothing too exciting.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: How about you?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, uh, nothing, citing on the card front at all, finishing up the baseball season.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: The grind is over for my kids and use sports, which is a big relief.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: We have just been going pretty much, I mean, 44 weeks in a row.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: Since this show started, I'm pretty sure.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: So the next eight weeks had a signified that down time for me, which I'm looking forward to.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: You could actually see if you can tell on my background here.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna new location if you're watching this live.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: I've been spending the majority of my time on my downtown trying to finish this new house down here.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna finish this week and I'm gonna celebrate that this weekend.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's been the main focus for me outside of obviously on the baseball side.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't been buying a ton of carbs.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: uh... but obviously been keeping track of was going on the world series i'm sorry boy the money on like four hours of sleep last night i'm already expecting the world series what happened in the a.l.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: f.s.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: and we're having the n.l.c.s the n.l.c.s uh... feels like two weeks ago with uh... show hey just taking care of uh... the brewers by himself pretty much but then last night man what uh we'll have to talk about the obvious last night you know
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: They had them, they had it in the bag, Mariners had it in the bag.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: They got the guy that can come in and get four outs and they don't do it.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's going to be a huge topic.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure of conversation here, but I will say this just to kind of have another conversation after and we can hit this after ham.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: You talk about your week, but show hey, I didn't think you could go.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: that much higher.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when you start getting people outside of the space that are baseball fans that are talking about somebody, you know somebody's going meteoric and that's happening right now, show it.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: People that don't even watch the game are like, that show hey guy, I can't believe he hit three bombs and he struck everybody out.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so that's a huge his card values are going beyond the moon.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, just good to see for the hobby.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Gary, you really have been
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: And my, like, you, we, we usually talk on the daily basis.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: We don't even talk on a weekly basis about cards right now.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go to say that.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's, we're kind of jumping ahead to, like, our, like, weekly discussion about, like, one or some things we could do better on the show.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: What, current and I go get sync backed up.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: I just feel like both of us have been all for our games a little bit there.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: We'll come back home and, but I think it's good.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think what we talk about that as far as next year, just like a baseball player that's just played 160 two games.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're, you're out.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: The way we just ran the last 44 weeks in Bowman, did we win non-stop.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I think you got to kind of have this little bit of a dead time to be able to come back and really want to do it again, hard, next sprint.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I've been to that a little later in the episode to that.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: You got to recoup.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, along the same lines, I'm tired, boys.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_03]: I told my wife their day, I was like, I'm tired of being tired.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like I literally, I hit like two o'clock in the afternoon and I'm like two, I'm tough right now.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_03]: Like I just,
- 7:17[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I was jogging with my buddy Matt Ray last night, our Bible study, I said, man, if I get five minutes of reprieve, it like a stoplight, I'm like, where are we?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: Where are we?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: Where are we doing?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's just non-stop, man.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Matthew and I were in the car on the way to school this morning.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: And we were talking about like our routine of getting our five kids out the door to school each day.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_03]: And I told him I was like, I don't think you understand the amount of emotional energy it takes.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_03]: Just to get you out the door to school.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: Because you got like, where's my lunch?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: What's wrong?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want it.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, Good.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's just like my brain just starts to melt into this place of like, I'm just going to stay right here.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm just going to manage my own self and not get bent out of shape.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to stay right here.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I just hired man, you know, coming off of a double pneumonia thing with our twins as I mentioned on last episode.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: They're better now.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: They played a little baseball this weekend.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_03]: So that was good.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_03]: But we're at a really unique spot, man.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, the kids are kind of trying to figure out, do they want to keep with the.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: travel sport thing and what do they want to press into and Matthew's got high school basketball workouts and you know it's tough and he's trying to figure that out you know so we're doing a lot of kind of like hands on with the kids just trying to figure out like this new season of life as we've graduated from like you sports and this kind of thing and moving into more of the high school and kind of like hey
- 8:36[SPEAKER_03]: For you know it, man, we're going to be trying to figure out college, do you do that?
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: Where do you do that?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_03]: What do you want to do?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_03]: So just a lot of big, kind of like personal things with my wife and I have been navigating that agencies continue to grow early, you know, we're 18 months open right now and trying to hire that's been really hard.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: We've been trying to bring on some salespeople and have struggled, trying to find good quality folks that want to dive in and build a book of business.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: And so that's been
- 8:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know, a little bit challenging, but things are continuing to go well.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_03]: On the card front, we had a really good show in Charlotte and then bounce back from that and a little map picked up a really nice lot of some Tom Brady's and speaking of show.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, this will segue us into our little moment here talking about it.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_03]: Of course, I think I put it away.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, he just bought her this.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: He just bought this this weekend.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's a gold show.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, Bowman, but from the national packs, right?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_03]: And it's one of those cards.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's a number to 50 show hey rookie non-pack pool, but pulled from the national packs and he picked that up in a lot.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: So right now, man, we've been buying Brady Jordan show hey kind of sticking to goat stuff and he's done done well there.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: So here's an interesting factoid on the whole show hey conversation boys.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_03]: How many copies of the 1952 tops Mickey Manel do you think are graded?
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: This is the most iconic baseball card by most people's.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_03]: total total impopulation BGSPSA SEC every correct number of graded copies of the 52 top mental I don't even know where it is nine hundred nine hundred I'm gonna guess 2300
- 10:08[SPEAKER_03]: 2900 graded copies exist of the mantle 52 tops, arguably the iconic vintage baseball card and the card that everybody compares all other cards to right that card in a an SGC 9.5 had set the previous record for highest sale right that card in a PSA one still does around 25k even 30k based on I appeal or whatever
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: Now, let's go to the show, hey, Otani, Bowman, Chrome, Rookie, autograph, non-parallel.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: So this is the base, you don't, I'm talking about, right?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_03]: The 2018, thatting, there's a batting and a pitching, okay?
- 10:53[SPEAKER_03]: How many copies do you think exist, graded of the pitching of that, of that card?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: Five, baby, Bob.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_03]: Kern, I'll give you a guess on the batting.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's lower eight 40.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's lower.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, B 75 pretty close 387.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: So if you run the numbers on just a base auto against the mantle, okay, you're talking about 900.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: copies of show haycards that exist compared to 2,900 of mantle.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: So when you start talking about market cap and how much market cap is out there to support right now then you start to add in the other show hay dynamics right so you've got the blue parallel of course you've got the orange parallel you've got the red parallel and then you've got there is a super of each and then there's like the green there is the atomic I think they call it number
- 11:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so my point being if you if you totaled up all of those cards because I mean the the oranges are limited the goals are limited I just looked up the blue batting the blue batting only has a hundred and seventy seven
- 12:01[SPEAKER_03]: And that's total graded, which is funny because it's a hundred and fat of 150, it's a bunch of recent 150, 150, there's 300 more than 50 on the gold, there's a hundred more than 20, you know, I'm saying, if you did the math on this, the number of available show, hey, boom and rookie autodes is almost.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: identical to or even slightly less than the number of mannal rookies that exist rated yeah in that pretty fascinating well it's extremely fascinating and i think it points to where it sits right now if you could just buy an auto and put it a put it away that's a cool card to put it in the safe and you say i'd exposure to this guy forever
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: And somebody asked that question today.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: I know on the show about how do you look at this as a Bowman in 10, 20, 30 years as an asset class.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, show days are thrown at us.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: Asset class in my mind right now on how you all feel.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, this is an interesting conversation when you get into Showhake, because not only to showhake have these Bowman cards that we've been talking about.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: But then when you add in the top's chrome autographs, the fact that he autographed so many other cards and other times or whatever, you know, again, just like then on top of these autos, there's also the non-auto parallels.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: You shouldn't say it, and it's like,
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: If a, if a, if a manual PSA one of the 52 tops is doing 25K, you know, I mean, but then you've got this batting show, hey, Otani, not the refractor, just the base chrome.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: Do that card in a PSA 10's doing 3500 off.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: It starts to kind of make me go, ooh, there are certain aspects of ShowHage rookie market that I would stay away from, but when you get into the autographs and, and then the parallels, they actually seem cheap if you're contrasting them against manual.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now, just love how you called it a parallel.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Parallel.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_03]: What do you call it?
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: Parallel.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: are the emphasis on the back of it.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think it brings up the idea overall on my head here that why, why would you even buy a not auto of a card like that?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I mean, even if it's the best not a, maybe a super fracker, but we, and he kind of is the way we're currently buying Bowman.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: We're generally not buying Bowman first that don't have autographs because the autograph in my opinion, you could
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: and then go give me a 499, I'm taking the 499 out of it.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know about y'all, but that's the way I look at the auto is going to be superior forever.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: And then if you out of it at a 10, it's a 10 forever.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so to me, give me the 499 10.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Dad, what fascinates me about the show, hey, market.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: I've kind of like, you know, I recently just, um,
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: agreed to a purchase show hey card that's actually it's an autograph rookie and it's a pop one which is why I chose to buy it and had the opportunity to buy it.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't public or anything as a private deal but so I've been doing a lot of research on Show Hayes Market.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean it's practically two-axed since that game you know it's like a different market since that game and one of the things I found a couple things fascinating and looking at it.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I know we primarily discussed Bowman, but I was also looking into his top's chrome and that you and I were talking about this briefly yesterday.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: His top's chrome rookie autos.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: It seems to have a ceiling, they have a ceiling to them, right?
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like unlike Bowman where it doesn't have a ceiling, I don't think the top's chrome colors have the same, you know, they don't have the same, what do you call it?
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: both the pliers that Bowman did.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I was trying to understand why, you know, like, and I still don't know the answer.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like the difference between a blue and a gold is not too ex.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's much smaller than that.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I just don't understand why.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: And the other thing with showhakes cards and notice like the difference between nine and 10s is substantial.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: More so than I've seen ever before.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think it goes back to what we've taught this topic.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about this show so many times.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: Why are a lot of things in the hobby the way that they are?
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: For example, you know, I think the reason it is when somebody can create this rule, the way that I learn multipliers is probably the same way I assume you guys learned them.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody else told me about it.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: whether first I got into the space and so I've just got to take in it and ran with it and then I found my own versions of it and varieties of it, but you look at that in national treasures in football.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: It never made sense to me why national treasures at a 25 were going for less than a 99 and they're both national treasures.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's like, well, this one's a purple.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's a purple lot of
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: 49 or whatever.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: Why is it not worth it at a 90.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: I guess the same reason why some people value a 499 Bowman auto higher than a that a purple 250.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, these are substantial about and then you don't really go into national treasure world, but I would say national treasure is football 99.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: They call that the true.
- 17:06[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: is probably three times more expensive on the norm than the other.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, three times, it's crazy.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I've never understood that.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it goes back to, I think some of these rules are gonna change.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about like, the prices of raw, compared to BGS9 and PS9, I think these rules are going to continue to change big time in the next year too.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: I really do.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_03]: ultimately what drives any value is scarcity, like supply and demand is a real thing, right?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_03]: And so ultimately, that's what's going to drive this rarity.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where I'm sitting and looking at this show, hey, stuff from going, man, we sold one of the badding showhays in a nine five, you know, two years ago.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_03]: And we sold it for 11k and I'm thinking, oh my gosh, dude, like we would kill that.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_03]: There's no other base boom and autos anywhere close to that.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_03]: This is this is the peak.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_03]: That same cards do in 30 K right now.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I look.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: I did the same thing this time last year sold my blue pitching 95 for 18,000.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was into it for 12,000.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, that's the peak.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: 15.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: I would die to have that back.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, that's so bad gold for $225,000.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's probably worth half a million.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's easy, it easily is.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: And it's crazy because you look back and you go, shit, I would've could've, you know, whatever.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_03]: But at the same time, it's like, man, it's really difficult.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: What I have seen most recently, though, is there's a lot more showhays that are coming on the market.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_03]: There are people right now who are going, dude, I can't sit on this base auto, it's okay, like I bought this thing for 8k, like I've got a, you know what I mean?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: So it's very interesting to me that you're seeing this kind of flood of his stuff on the market right now, but the interesting thing about show hey that we've not seen since Michael Jordan.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_03]: is he is an international in-demand athlete, right?
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, Jordan had that kind of swag overseas.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we've seen that since Jordan with any athlete, not especially in major baseball.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the most because NBA, you get like, you know, Kobe or whatever, you know, Curry or LeBron, but not like this, man.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, like, not like this.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: I bet on all the show, hey, bet a lot of money on this.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'd put the odds on this, that it's close as I could put to 100%.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: That the price is where they sit today before his careers over.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: There will be a substantial drop from where that's at.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: And then they will go back up and hit these levels again and then go higher.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: So if someone's saying, hey, I wanna buy it and hold, I don't think you're stupid for buying it, hoping.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: because I think in the long term, if you're a long-term holder of him, I think you're going to be okay because if you go back to your point, him, it's a great long-term investment.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're worried about the short-term and this is short-term money and you're buying it, going to have it flip this, flip it right now as a hot hot potato.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, really, really, really, thank you.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: You saw what I've seen it with judge.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen it with all these guys before.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: This market is like this.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: This wave is always there.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: And show Hay's one hell of a player.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: He's obviously going to be a legend in Major League Baseball, but his prices will go down.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think when I find a lot of the big show hay collectors that own big show hay cards, during a time like this, I mean, a lot of them are not necessarily looking to sell them.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: They're looking to trade up to better copies and get into more getting into bigger show hays because of that fluctuation when that rises they can get the
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the value is now substantially higher than when they they got into that card and it's the opportunity to trade up, especially when they have quantity.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of show hey guys, I've talked to don't necessarily want to sell them.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: They want to trade up for more show hey for bigger show hey.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, here's an interesting concept.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: In Kern, you not have to talk about this before, and we've had deep conversations about this in the past.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the first guys though that I would really consider to do this way.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: When you talk about asset classes as a retirement investment, to answer this, there are listeners question.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: If there was a show, hey, fund that went and bought all these show hays right now, and you control the mass majority of the show, hey, market over the next 50 years, you would make it tremendous amount of money.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: If someone had the money to say, I got 500 million up, and I'm going to own the show, hey, market, and they owned all the rarists, the best, and they held it, and they held it, and they held it, and they held it.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: I think it'd be one heck of a return in the future.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think you just gave Kevin O'Leary a secure, I mean, that'd be a smart one if he took it.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: They might.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think that's where you're going to see next because, I mean, obviously with what the Leary and those guys have done, they've gone after the international hype.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_03]: the Jordan's, the Kobe's, the patches, the 101's, whatever, you know, show hey, has to be in that conversation.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: And it's interesting, then like, I can't think, I mean, again, prom trout, like, trout's first five years, right, are similar to what you're seeing from show hey, over the last, you know, five, just a level of dominance and performance that is just unmatched.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_03]: Show hey, being different that he's doing it on both sides of the field, but you got to
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: And you look at prom bonds and what prom bonds did.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: And then bonds is a unique kind of asterisk beside his name because of, you know, the whole steroid area and the fallout there.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I mean, you have to recognize what you're actually watching.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: I saw that told my boys the other night.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: I said, boys, like, I'm going to just tell you right now, you know, you just witnessed legitimate history in baseball.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_03]: That I doubt you will ever see again.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_03]: So just take a picture and take a snapshot.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_03]: And then of course, what the market's done, you know,
- 22:51[SPEAKER_03]: on the back in it, but we could talk about that for ever.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_03]: You guys have any more thoughts on the show, hey, thing, I think it's interesting, but I don't want to just beat the whole conversation.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: I do want to end the last thing with scarcity, because I think it's, we could almost call the title of this episode so far, scarcity.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think that, and we've been talking about this.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen it with the super, we've seen super's going to new realms, I'm pricing.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: Not to where people that are online think that they are.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: These guys in the chats that want to go on there and say,
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's cards work $20,000 for a mid-level prospect, get real.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's worth $20,000 for someone to pay you $20,000.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's not reality, but there's no doubt about it.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: Super's reds, oranges, and my opinion.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: When you own those cards and you own the majority of those, that is the scarcity.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: That is, I've seen it with reds more this year than I ever have.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: If you own reds, when a guy goes off,
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: trade you savage you know there's a rouse key any of those people are going to pay out the nose that goes out the window when you kind of multiplier it doesn't matter what the multiplier is if you own the scarce cards in that right moment and i look back in time at my own biggest mistakes was i bought the right guys body with a bautner right guys airing judge i bought the right guys and i bought a lot of them
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: I owned the own game plan that we're talking about for Gavin O'Leary, and I didn't have the kindness.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's a hold of long enough until I got to the right moment for a guy like Connor where we've been talking about.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: It really is like it, it's a hard, it's like the stock market, it's been going up, baby, everybody's dancing, it's good, life's good, baby, 401k's good, honey, we're gonna return the Bahamas.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: is a bad week in the market.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's selling off.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, oh my gosh, we're done.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Baby, we're done to me.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's where we're at with cards and it's hard sometimes to not listen to the noise.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: But when you have that belief in that player and that conviction, we talk about asset classes, look at the player and look at the type of car you're buying.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Bowman is king.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're buying Bowman, which is the king and you're
- 25:03[SPEAKER_03]: So, so that is a fantastic segue.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Gary, into the opportunity we have here to reflect on, you know, 43 episodes of the sports card CEO, you know, as we said, we started this as as three buddies who had gotten to know each other in the hobby, like similar things and kind of the high end market and.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_03]: you know we uh we decided to put this podcast together just to put out content we felt like would be useful and helpful and would love to hear your thoughts on what you guys think in the last 43 episodes we've done well what do you think we could improve upon and then
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: What would you say are our top moments like favorite moments for you guys?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_03]: So again, any business has to have a moment where you reflect and look back, kind of board-room moment.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_03]: So I wanted to have a little CEO podcast board-room moment where we look back on, you know, what we've done well.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_03]: So, Karen, what would you say is one thing you think we've done well in the podcast?
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think we've done a good job.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to think we've done a good job at guiding
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: our listeners of when to when to sell versus when to hold.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now, when to recognize that it's time.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to think we did a good job at that as well as educating them on risk reward is the risk worth the reward.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking specifically to like specific players, but just in general
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, just just recognizing that something like that might not come up again, and if you're feeling conviction, you go But staying away from something that these different colored parallels that aren't gonna have long-term value Just so just just the idea of finding where the where there is value and went to capitalize on that I think we've done a pretty good job.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Baba
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think we did the number one thing that I wanted in when we first originally started this thing, you know, when kind, and then ham and we talked about doing this, I can't do anything in my life and do it well if I don't believe in something.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that's number one for me, and I can't do anything in my life well if I'm not myself.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like the number one thing that we've done well
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: temptation.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: When you get on a show like this and you start getting people watching what you're saying.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And Brooklyn, you're what you're saying.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: When you're saying to not be yourself.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: And we have showed up 44 weeks and held very little back.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I've probably held five percent of my cards back.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: If I, if I've got 100% of the cards right here, I feel 5% of them back.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: And so, I don't know if I've been right all the time or wrong one of the time, but I know you guys have been the same way.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: We've, we've, we've laid it out there.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, as far as who we are, what we are, and to be honest is probably cost us money.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: At times, it's probably cost us bills at times.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: That don't care.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: And when I look at season two, we're going to keep being who we are.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: love it.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: So, what have we done well?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: One of the things that I think is important, which we had these tenets, right?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: Authenticity being one of them, education being one of them, right?
- 28:09[SPEAKER_03]: The other thing is entertainment, right?
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: Entertainment being one of them.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I think we've brought a good level of that to the show, with our different personalities and kind of cutting up and the humor here and there.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_03]: But also to entertainment from the perspective of the interviews we've done.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like I look back on this episode or the season, excuse me,
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: you know, we, the highlights, of course, you know, interview and Mike Mayhand, right at the CarJaceQ, ahead of the, the All-Star game, like in that studio, like that was a moment for me.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, that was super cool.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: And then, of course, you know, trout, gentlemanly back a Trump national, whatever, like we've had that, that high level.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_03]: But also, too, I looked at,
- 28:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know, having a blast, you know, on the background, having Mike Mayer from exploring the breaking side of the hobby and exploring the re-pack side of the hobby.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: And that kind, and we also have had the player stuff with Sakura and Evan Carter and, you know, Rhett louder, Connor and Cags.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's like, man, this has been a perfect mix of bringing athletes on and bringing hobby, you know, to mean,
- 29:08[SPEAKER_03]: type people on, and then bring in, you know, collectors on, you know, like Nick Tucker who's been around a good bit, and then also the educational piece of bringing our mom.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll look at that and I said, you know what, guys, if we brought education, we brought authenticity, and also to something else we've done well is we've brought some entertainment, you know, to the space.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that that's been super, super helpful.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_03]: So that was kind of the done well thing.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_03]: The second question I have for you guys is what do you think we haven't done well something we could improve upon and we're asking this to our listeners as well, too We'd love the feedback.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: So what we could do better.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think really comes down to what our listeners think and every listeners different in some people love the interviews with players and some people don't like them You know some people love having arm on and having that perspective some people don't like it some people just like hearing us talk about stuff like this and life and you know
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: that listen to us are listening because we're relatable.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: We enjoy the same hobby and moments specifically and then that hobby and that some a lot of you are married with children and can relate a similar age group.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think from we can improve on or what I'd like to improve on is trying to
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: relate from a card perspective in terms of, you know, the person that's not collecting oranges or reds or supers speaking their language in, you know, when we talk about our strategy.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: And we do incorporate that a lot of times in, but I'd like to be more aware and cognizant of that.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: when speaking about my dealings and sharing my stories in how that can relate to somebody buying base autos or just, you know, non auto refractors and colors and things like that and speaking at person's language, but again, I think it all comes down to I would like more feedback from each and every one of you, you know, you can always feel free to email us or DM.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: If we don't get back to you, sometimes it's hitting in request, but like, we want your feedback on what works.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I realize that everything's going to be different based on who the listener is and some people are not going to like more of that and less of this.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and again, my point for saying that's not to be critical at all, like I, like I would say, you know, over the moon with how the first season has gone, like completely blown away that we've gotten to do this at this level.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_03]: So like that's not a critique, it's just an interesting kind of segue into kind of saying, all right, you know, what what could we think about here.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there wasn't no get there that I want to hit on because what's cool about this is as we do this show is that we all have kids one day.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: We may even be dead and gone in the internet stays there, right?
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: And this stuff is there.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: And so this is kind of a nugget for not only my own kids and y'all's kids, but there's a reason that the three of us get along so well, right?
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: And while we can ham and egg it, ham, get the ham and egg it is what you said earlier, Karen, you nailed it.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: We are hard on ourselves.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: We are hard on, we are, we are, we are our own, like, judge on this stuff a lot of times.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: There's been so many episodes we've talked after it.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: I've been like, man, I don't know if that one was good or you felt that way.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: But I think in the end of the day, whether it be cards, whether it be business, whether it be life in general, when you're pushing yourself and you are driven and you wake up every day, I wake up most days and
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm challenging myself.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at a man dude, you could do this better.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_02]: Man, you could do that better.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_02]: And there is this balancing act and I think that's the mental side, the fatigue we talk about.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_02]: If you do that 52 weeks of the year for 10 straight years, you're gonna wear yourself out.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you've got to have those own moments like this to say, man, look at what we look at what you did do.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: And generally what I would do in the business world for that for myself is right about the time we had our Christmas party every single year or company.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: We were given out bonuses.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: People were going to be gone for a couple of weeks from work.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: I would literally sit there and just relax.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: It was the only time I allowed myself in my business world to look back and just celebrate what I had just done.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like that's what I need to be doing what cards for this last year, because in this show, frankly, to that point, you know, you mentioned going to be in tough on yourself and tough on ourselves and and everything that you're doing, you know, like what I was trying what I'm trying to say is that for me when I put something when I put my all into something and I put a lot of
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: energy and and work into this show not only just on a weekly basis, but behind the scenes it's it I put a lot into it something and when you got if you and you guys have put a lot into it something on the back end is going to take a is going to hurt a little bit like what are you giving up like I'm getting all the time I'm making a sacrifice and putting a lot of time into something here what is it you know it's it's important to step back and think about what am I taking away time from now.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: is it being a better father, is it being business and something in business that I've been less involved than is that hurting the business?
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like you only have so much, it's not like having another child and the wealth could continue to grow, right?
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's time and energy and we're human beings.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I've been putting a lot of time into this podcast, where is my time gone from, what did I take it from?
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it's important, this is something important to think about for everybody.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think the point being is that when you function at a high level, you have to have those kind of conversations with yourself.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: You have to be very real and honest about your margins and about your mental state and about the emotional energy and all that kind of stuff.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: And to that end, like you say yes to some things and you say no to other things.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: And we said yes to this, you know what I mean?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_03]: And here we are, you know,
- 34:48[SPEAKER_03]: kind of reaping the rewards of that, not financial rewards, but just the rewards of friendship, the rewards of relationship, the rewards of connection and all this kind of stuff.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_03]: And so that's where you have to constantly, at least for me, have to analyze.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm sure like you guys, you get asked to do a lot of stuff.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, can you do this?
- 35:07[SPEAKER_03]: Can you do this?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_03]: And you say no a lot of times to a lot of things.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: And you kind of focus in on the things that bring you joy, and that you feel like you can pour into and add value to.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_03]: and it's hard behind the screen sometimes because you're out here doing this stuff.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like does anybody freaking care?
- 35:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like does anybody like, what are we doing?
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: Is this is for my ego?
- 35:24[SPEAKER_03]: Is this just for my own benefit?
- 35:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do I need to feel like I'm a part of something or whatever?
- 35:29[SPEAKER_03]: But then you have this feedback and response from people who are like, man,
- 35:33[SPEAKER_03]: really join the podcast, really enjoy that episode where you guys were and you're like, okay, we're planting seeds, things are happening and it's good.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_03]: But I love what you said there, current, and everything in your life, you have to question is like, is this what's the cost here?
- 35:47[SPEAKER_03]: What is the cost?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: The real cost?
- 35:49[SPEAKER_03]: You know, because this is, there's a real cost to everything we do.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, 100%.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_03]: All right, favorite moments.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_03]: So highlight moment, there's a moment that just goes boom,
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: 10, 12 minutes.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: That was a good moment.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: But looking back over 43 episodes.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_03]: What do you guess?
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: I know what my favorite moment is.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite moment and is going to be very like specific.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's not an episode in general.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: But I remember when this episode was, but my favorite moment.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: was when we had our mom and he called Spencer Jones, Joey Gallagher because I have never left so hard during this show.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when you have that just like that deep laugh that just cannot stop uncontrollable laugh, like I had a mute my bite because I couldn't stop laughing.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: And every time I look at Gary, I laughed during that episode.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, there's been times I've been laying in bed and I think about that moment and I laughed again.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I just laugh.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like because I picture Gary's face just going that like that was I know it's very specific, but that that was my favorite moment because it brings joy.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like to me thinking about having that good laugh fair enough, Bubba.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: Man, it's really hard to choose one, man.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's some obvious ones out there.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, the mic trout moment, and being able to just talk baseball with mic trout, was a pinch myself moment.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, really just talking hitting and baseball because I'm so passionate about hitting in general.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: And so to be able to,
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: kind of have that conversation was surreal.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll be honest with you.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's just the in general to, it's what drives me.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I think there's been some moments early on specifically when we started getting this momentum in Ham.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: You and I talked to it about the All Star Break in Karnew as well.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like there was just a lot of pinch yourself moments to say, this thing that we had that was a dream.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: People actually are enjoying listening to.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: They're actually enjoying this, we're having fun.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, you know, again, I think to myself,
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: The batteries were, they were full charge when you start.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to go back, I want to listen to episode one.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: I was starting when we were talking about going through all 44 episodes.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_02]: I want to go back and listen to them all again in my spare time and listen to one.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: But I remember getting on episode one and just do we just ham and egg get, you know, and that's got what we've done today.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: We came in with like a game plan today, and maybe a couple of things we're going to talk about.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_02]: But we ham and egg get, I love.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's when I have the most fun.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we just go and we're just three dudes having fun.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: When I feel like we feel the pressure of what other people are saying, I feel like we perform a worst.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so for my standpoint, I've enjoyed every single second of it, really guys.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, two great people.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not just saying that for the camera, two great friends, two great individuals.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, I've loved every second of it.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_03]: So, I think back on this thing and again, a lot of moments, a lot of low-hanging fruit.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_03]: The thing that hit me is you're talking about, man, something that I'm super appreciative of is how welcoming you guys have been toward Matthew, little Matt, my oldest son.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_03]: And like, legitimately want to get emotional right now, just because you guys have invested in him, you know, and not been easy on him.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and not just catered to him because he's a kid, you know, you've actually engaged him and challenged him and then allowed him the opportunity to be involved in card deals allowed him the opportunity to be on the show sometime the time and that that means a lot to me and there was a moment at it happened twice actually it was really odd but it's it's in grain in my mind we had just gotten finished interviewing Mike Mayhand.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_03]: At the cards HQ headquarters or whatever and you guys were in the the studio still talking to Mike and I had stepped outside the check on the boys and Mike walks outside and he looked at little Matt and he basically I can't remember one of his people were there and he looked at little Matt and he's like, how are you and little Matt's like 15 and he goes damn it he's like I got to wait three years to hire you and and I was kind of like, oh, that was kind of fun and cool right dude.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_03]: We were at the national and Mayhand stand in there.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: And we were like, what's up, Mike?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_03]: And he goes, oh, hey, come here.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: This is a reporter from the Washington Post.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_03]: You need to interview these guys about Vacard hobby.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_03]: So this Washington Post reporter is interviewing us and then Rubin steps over and is listening the little Matt talk to this kind of guy.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_03]: And all of a sudden, Rubin straight up.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, why the fuck?
- 40:26[SPEAKER_03]: Does this kid not work for us and may hands like I'm telling you and so I say that to you guys to say like that's the thing I think that stands out the most for me is it's an opportunity for me to invite my son into something and you guys have supported that and who knows where to go but it has been really cool to see him have that experience and exposure and this show has brought an entirely new level of that so that's my favorite moment before we wrap up.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Can we talk about George Springer?
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, bombs, poor managing decision.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not even just saying hindsight is 2020.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: It is, but at the time, it was bring moonios in it.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: In the playoffs, the teams, and you've seen it year after year, if you've got to go and take your number one starter and he pitched the day before, and you're in the moment to go to the world series, you do, and you've got to do.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: You do what you do to win the game, and I think they just felt like they're in church control, man.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think he got stuck in the moment and thinking that they had it under wraps, I really do.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's the only explanation.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_02]: The really is the explanation.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: That said, do you guys think the J's competed all with the Dodgers?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: Dear Destiny, I said it from a good go.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: You can see the energy in that stadium, the energy of those players.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: They, I mean, you got one arrogant bunch in L.A. that thinks it's theirs.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: And you got another one that just freaking wants to agree.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: I like to chase.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: Go Jay's baby.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of the things I don't have a dog in the fight.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_03]: I just kind of watch and I like good moments and good games.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I don't I don't need there.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: I just dislike the Dodgers.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought some of the day they should play the the Empire music from Star Wars whenever they take the field the They should walk out to because that but it they are being I hope it I hope it's just I hope it's a competitive world series.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think it will be but I hope I'm right now
- 42:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think you'll get a lot of international attention being that you've got Toronto being as you've got LA being that you've got show hey be I mean gladi like I think that'll be good for the hobby that that'll be good for the sport you know what I mean yeah I think that'll be really really solid.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_03]: Well gentlemen we're coming up on you know our time here.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: Really good episode today like I said a really good opportunity for us to kind of reflect for all our listeners.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys so much for tuning in.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to hear from you guys.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think we've done well?
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think we could improve upon and certainly what what are your favorite moments from a season one, if you will, of the sports card CEO, we're looking forward to diving in.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know season two and getting a little bit like Gary said more involved in some of the day-to-day and the Hammond egg But you boys have any final thoughts before we wrap today.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: I've got one one my thing to say and it's about little Matt I wanted to say it before we moved on the kids like to say the word glazed these days That's guys.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not glazing little Matt here with what I'm gonna say and I mean every bit of it the dude is a prodigy at what he's doing in cars
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he, any works, his work ethic is what makes him a prodigy.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_02]: He's smart, but his work ethic is unmatched and how hard the kid works on it.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: He studies it and again, these are lessons that go on for anything you want to do and I preach this to my kids every day.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: If you have a dream and you want to be good at something, don't let anybody tell you no and don't ever stop driving yourself.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_02]: And a little mat is proof in the putting to that.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: Any of his buddies that are listening at school,
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: The dude is not just getting delays on the show.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's the real deal and I'm proud of what he's done in and I really see I see visions of myself 20 something years ago when I started a business at 18 years old, but the reality is he's better than I was so incredibly bright young man.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're lucky to have such a good son and I appreciate that concur.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, appreciate you boys.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, listen, man, all kinds of fun.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: I can't wait until we can figure out a way to get together again.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_03]: I, I'm looking forward to the day.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_03]: I want to see.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_03]: I want to be.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: I've been at the farm with Bubba.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: But you know where I've never been.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_03]: I've never been in the city with current meaning.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: We need them.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: Come on out.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_03]: We need to make it happen.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody have them.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much for listening to another episode of SportsCarts CEO.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_03]: We appreciate you guys.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_03]: We back next week.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_03]: Please.
