- 1:08that's right. Yeah, yeah, only Zeel. Do I sound like Zuel
- 1:17a little bit? Yeah? How you feeling? Are you a god?
- 1:23Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? I Uh. I traveled for work about two
- 1:29weeks ago and I was stuck in the car with a co worker who you
- 1:33know. The next day I find out he's sick. Okay, right,
- 1:37yeah, so lo and behold two days after that, this guy was sick
- 1:44and you know it's not it's I'm forty forty uh wow, forty seven years
- 1:49old. I'm forty seven years old, so you know, I'm not seventeen
- 1:53anymore. Where It's like Tuesday morning you wake up, you're like, oh
- 1:57I got a cold, and Saturday you're fine. Nope, nope, we're
- 2:02coming up. We're coming up on two weeks. Yeah, we're not at
- 2:06that age anymore. Oh god, I hate it. I I want to
- 2:10go drive to this guy's house and just knock on the door on a Sunday
- 2:14morning, punch him in the face, touch me in the face. There
- 2:16you go. That's for you. Hey, I'm bringing this back to you.
- 2:23It's just off in his face there. So if if I if I
- 2:28mute the mic this morning, you know, and you see, yeah,
- 2:32you see that's me coffin. Yeah. So it's about to happen right now,
- 2:37so continue. All right. I'm doing great. I'm doing great.
- 2:44I'm looking forward to seeing how horrible that intro so out when I released listened
- 2:47to the podcast, Yeah, I wish I had a way to like turn
- 2:51down the music, but it's a limitation of the software. We'll see,
- 2:55we'll see that goes. We like play here, you know, I think
- 2:59I think like the Treck Cast t G tenth anniversary special. We are gonna
- 3:06have it down. Absolutely. I have been thinking about redoing the intro now,
- 3:14okay, yeah, a little ob yeah. Yeah. I'm doing my
- 3:21best, you know, to bring my my A game here because I don't
- 3:23want to disappoint our test millions of fans who bring you bring a game?
- 3:30Yeah, not necessary. You listened to the show, this is true.
- 3:36Yeah, and actually I'm re listening to the show because I'm doing a Disco
- 3:40rewatch as you are, and I'm also doing a treck Cast re listen.
- 3:46As I'm watching the the Disco episodes, I'm listening to the corresponding Trek Cast
- 3:53episodes. Yeah, and uh, how high my predictions? Oh spot on
- 4:02Yanks? Yeahs it turns out Q was the Red Angel. Yeah, I
- 4:13tell you, you know, I am about halfway through season four. That's
- 4:19the last season, right season. I'm about halfway through season four, and
- 4:26I just I've been on the same episode for like three or four days.
- 4:30I keep falling asleep in the same spot, and and you know, part
- 4:32of it is, Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna take my night cull and
- 4:35lay on the couch and watch some Star Trek and you know, serving seven
- 4:40minutes later there, I am. Yeah, but but but what stinks is
- 4:46you know you go to restart an episode and and it shows you where you
- 4:50left off, and it's like, this is where I stopped it and rolled
- 4:54over and went to sleep. Let me back it up a little bit,
- 4:56so you know, you back it up like three or four minutes earlier.
- 5:00So I'm watching. I've watched the same three or four minutes like six times
- 5:04in a row. I'm like, when am I going to get to some
- 5:08new content? Michael crying? We used to joke about it, but as
- 5:12I'm rewatching, I'm like, you know, all the time the couch pointed
- 5:15out to my wife, she's crying again. She's crying again. I was
- 5:17like, she's crying again. Like, yeah, she's crying again. Yeah.
- 5:23Scott's sitting there in Michigan and he's like, where's the phone. I
- 5:26got a call down. They have to have like a tray of like eye
- 5:30drops nearby so you can put it into tears. Oh absolutely, yeah.
- 5:40Yeah. Well, speaking of tears, let's get see the news star Trek
- 5:46News. All right, so our first news story has a bit of breaking
- 5:51news coming into us from a Trek Central dot net and apparently, uh,
- 6:00Scott, you had this question last week about starting Prodigy season two exists.
- 6:04Well, apparently it's out. It's out in Loving a Baby. It is
- 6:08out in France. It has been posted to France dot tv, which is
- 6:14their public television similar to our PBS. We we yeah, it is out
- 6:19in love and every minute of it. It was released yesterday. It looks
- 6:24like all the episodes are out and and it's like a streaming service. I
- 6:28guess over there, all twenty episodes of Prodigy season two are out and yeah,
- 6:34so it's there. What are they waiting to dub it in English or
- 6:40I don't know, man, but it is out in France America? Right
- 6:46everything first? No, no, no, no, no, the French
- 6:48apparently there are fine. Yeah. People are calling it a leak, but
- 6:56I mean it's the public television streaming service. Like, I don't, is
- 7:00that really a leak? Yeah, it's either like an okay leak or they're
- 7:06gonna face a massive lawsuit, right right, or like somebody put the wrong
- 7:11data when the files go live and oops. Yeah right, so whatever,
- 7:15but it's out, so there you go. I'm sure that'll be hitting a
- 7:18streaming service or a certain bay for pirates. I'm sure that'll be on their
- 7:24sin. Yeah. Yeah. Our next news story comes to us from Variety.
- 7:30Earlier this week, there was a announcement of a basically a private equity
- 7:36firm called Apollo who put in a bid to purchase Paramount. They put in
- 7:42an eleven million dollar bid, and so we are now getting reaction from Sherry
- 7:46Redstone. Shrey Redstone is the majority owner of Paramount. She has most of
- 7:51the stock and she just basically boffed at this eleven billion dollar bid and it
- 8:00is basically denying it and not really interested in it. It's not enough.
- 8:05So so right now Paramount still remains for sale, and just not for eleven
- 8:11billion dollars probably a little bit. How we doing, uh, how are
- 8:16we doing on the KOFE account? We have all right, so we've got
- 8:22some room for improvement. That's right, That's right. I guess I guess
- 8:26what I'm saying is, if you guys out there in podcast land really want
- 8:31us to write this ship, we're gonna have to. We're gonna have to
- 8:35plunk some cash down, that's right, and purchase the fleet. So yeah,
- 8:39maybe we could pull our money with other like Star Trek podcasts. Yeah.
- 8:43Yeah, no, no, no, no, we're not sharing.
- 8:46We were check cast. Keep it up with the Kardiathians. They're fund raising.
- 8:54Yeah, I'm very leary of a private equity firm purchasing paramount. Yeah.
- 9:01Just what tends to happen with those kinds of situations. Basically, that's
- 9:05what happened to Toys r Us and Sears and to Kmart is these firms come
- 9:11in, they settle the business, they buy with a ton of debt,
- 9:15then they declare bankruptcy and pay for that debt for pennies on the dollar.
- 9:18They all cut themselves checks and that's it. So yes and no. There
- 9:28it's a little bit different. It's a little bit different talking about a retail
- 9:33store as opposed to IP star. I'll see what I mean. What I
- 9:45mean is Kmart is essentially worthless right now. Star Trek as a as an
- 9:52IP will never ever ever be worthless. They can always do another movie,
- 9:58do another show, crank out some more merch. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 10:05just I wanted to be in the hands of somebody who cares about it,
- 10:09I guess, is where I'm getting at. Well, I think what's more
- 10:13likely is for them to to you know, buy paramount snap Star trek Off
- 10:18and resell it to someone else who maybe writes something amazing. Right, it
- 10:26depends on who's like in charge as far as like, you know, there's
- 10:28a difference between the being counters, you know, the accountants and the creative
- 10:33consultants. It depends on you know, who's got more influence, more sway.
- 10:41You know, are they interested in you know, in the properties.
- 10:43Because I understand this is all just a money game, but people didn't Some
- 10:48of these people didn't get into this business just for the money. They couldn't
- 10:52have because there's a lot of great content out there that that can't be created
- 10:56by accountants. Right, So there's got to be people out there with influence
- 11:01that love what they're making and love what's coming on that love Star trek that
- 11:07have some influence on what's going on. I mean, you could buy something
- 11:11of value without caring about it at all. I sell it and sell it
- 11:18to someone who does love it. You know, I'll give you the perfect
- 11:22example. You know, you guys know I go thrifting all the time.
- 11:26Oh yeah, and you know I look for g I Joe's he Man transformers,
- 11:31all the things that I'm interested in. However, when I see a
- 11:35box of my little Ponies, I have zero interest in those. But I
- 11:39know there are people out there who want them, So I will plunk down
- 11:43the three dollars for that box of my little Ponies and then spend hours on
- 11:48the Internet learning about my little pony. Yes, just so I know which
- 11:54pony I have that, so that I could sell it to some forty three
- 11:58year old woman who wants friendship pony to remind her of nineteen eighty three or
- 12:03whatever. See, Daniel, and I know truth, we know. The
- 12:07reason why you're in that van right now is because it is completely decorated with
- 12:11little I am laughing because so I used to work in the office building.
- 12:16In the lower portion of the building was an independent movie theater, and I
- 12:20was friends with the owner of that independent movie theater. Oh, I thought
- 12:24you said, I thought you said intimate movie theater. No, independent,
- 12:28not part of a chat. I'm thinking they still have those. That's right,
- 12:33This is the story is going to take a turn. It was just
- 12:35his apartment. It was really weird. Yeah. Anyways, he would rent
- 12:41out that movie theater on on Saturday mornings to a group of Bronis and they
- 12:46would watch my little Pony on the big screen. Oh my god, yeah,
- 12:52jazz Biness Pony upon there you go. Yeah. Anyways, so yeah,
- 12:58so that's what's going on with Paramount Our. Next news story comes fust
- 13:01from trekmovie dot com and the mythical star Trek Section thirty one. Film has
- 13:07wrapped, so that means they are done filming. You know. We had
- 13:11somebody in the group say that they were suspicious because of how quick the filming
- 13:16went. Well, they did start filming on January thirtieth, so what that.
- 13:22That's a couple of months. So yeah, it's about time. And
- 13:26it is a TV movie. It's I was just gonna say, it's a
- 13:28yeah for TV movie. Yeah it's yeah, it's not The Avengers. So
- 13:33yeah, it's not gonna take months and months and months. They shot the
- 13:37majority of it, probably on the volume, and yeah, they're gonna probably
- 13:39edit it and cut it. Honestly, we could probably see it by the
- 13:43end of the year. But yeah, do we know for sure other than
- 13:48what's her name? Michelle? Yeah, Michelle? Yeo, do we know
- 13:54who's in this? They announced the cast, but it wasn't anyone. I
- 14:00was familiar with, and when I went and researched him, most of them
- 14:03didn't have like big backgrounds, so I couldn't say off hand in this story
- 14:09they don't list everybody, but I mean, the last time we saw her,
- 14:13she was headed back to well, they didn't say the twenty third century,
- 14:18but they said a time when the timelines weren't so diverged, right,
- 14:24right, isn't that the way they said it? Oil Alert? Watching it?
- 14:26Yeah, there you go, people show. I don't I don't see
- 14:33uh, asked Tyler? Is he in this? Yeah? I don't see
- 14:35him on there either? So oh did you not like that character? Did
- 14:43you not? Did you not? Did you hear? Did you not just
- 14:46see me? Call him? Asked Tyler? Yeah, that's right. He
- 14:50was my favorite. So you know what I mean. I know we're here
- 14:54to talk about Ghostbusters, but this is treck cast. So you know,
- 14:58Scott, what do you think watching it again? Five years later? Okay?
- 15:03Yeah, I was hoping to bring that up. I really enjoyed the
- 15:07first two seasons. The third season, I'm starting to remember why we started
- 15:15to go, we have to watch this or I understand why you guys were
- 15:18like, what I gotta watch this for the show. This is homework.
- 15:22You know. I watched it this morning on my you know, on my
- 15:26Apple watch. Didn't really care whatever. You know, It's the whole thirty
- 15:33ninety third century thing is a little bit old. I'm getting real sick of
- 15:39watching the nas cells detached im. It's getting it's I don't like it.
- 15:46I don't like it. I I don't like it either. I don't mean
- 15:50to be a you know, the the disco hater all the time, but
- 15:58I really did. I really did go into it thinking I'm going to give
- 16:03this a fresh try, you know. And I mean I watched three and
- 16:07a half seasons this You guys know how I feel about this show. And
- 16:11you know what I've said about the show over the last five years. And
- 16:14I went in and rewatch just about the whole thing. So I don't think
- 16:18anybody could say he didn't give it an honest, you know, an honest
- 16:22goh. But I found a lot of a lot of things that I disliked
- 16:27five years ago. I'm just not over them. Yeah, you know,
- 16:32and I think, I you know, and I thought to myself, well,
- 16:33maybe the second time through it won't be such a big deal. They
- 16:37fumbled the Klingons so bad, so bad, so badly. Yep, And
- 16:45I know it's five years later, but I'm looking at this going why who
- 16:49thought this was a good idea? Yeah? Who thought? I mean I
- 16:53did a fundamentally change everything we've ever seen about one of the most popular factions
- 17:02in in Star Trek. You weren't here on the show for it, but
- 17:06we did a news story I think last week from Terry Mettalis. We talked
- 17:10about the card season two and how they kept telling them it's too star Trek
- 17:15rewrite it. Yeah, yeah, a Star Trek series, is it?
- 17:19Yea to Star Trek. That's kind of the mentality. So that sucks.
- 17:25And our last news story comes to us from tech explore dot com, and
- 17:32this is kind of interesting. Some top computer scientists say that the future of
- 17:37artificial intelligence is similar to that of Star Trek. So yay by the headline,
- 17:41but actually boo when you read it. But they're saying, no,
- 17:47the borg and it'll be like a hive mind type thing. As computer intelligence
- 17:52continues to grow, it'll be more and more like a giant hive mind that
- 17:56will be harder to control. So neat uh So that's where we're headed.
- 18:02Yeah, it's getting scary, it really is. Have you seen the video
- 18:07that I forget which company made it, but they made a robot that's powered
- 18:12by chat, GPT or GP four I think they're up to now and you
- 18:18can interact with you. This is someone that's folding laundry and yeah, yeah,
- 18:25yeah, and it can do multiple tasks while it's talking to you.
- 18:27And and and you know what they did. They added what do they can't
- 18:33remember what they call them, but those words that you use in regular speech
- 18:38when you're pausing, like yeah, just adding to the speech pattern of these
- 18:45things, and they sound so much more intelligent and natural. Yeah, but
- 18:51adding a mistake to a to that is that a good I don't get it.
- 18:56It's like addie lens flairs, you know, seriously, I mean a
- 19:02lens flair is a is a is a visual like it's a mistake. It's
- 19:06a mistake. You know. Why would you add to a robot or an
- 19:11and writer? That's you're adding a mistake. I get it to make it
- 19:14more realistic. But all you're going to focus on are the the the ms,
- 19:19right, you know they probably have an algorithm do with everything. Fifteen
- 19:23year olds or something, right, Yeah, lens flair. Well, well,
- 19:29I mean there was an algorithm to make data's eyes blink at a natural
- 19:37system. What's that, the Fourier system. Yeah. I didn't want to
- 19:41Yeah, I didn't want to sound like a douche, So Daniel, I
- 19:45think that deserves the Oh yeah, I was already reaching for it. Okay,
- 19:48warning warning, NERD alert, NERD alert. Indeed. Indeed, Yeah,
- 19:57I love it, always here to take us over and kill us all
- 20:03yeah, take our jobs. That's fine, Yeah, that's fine, just
- 20:10whatever. You know, it's getting it's getting crazy though, because you look
- 20:18at all these different aspects of it, so that you know, they can
- 20:22create these photorealistic two dimensional images now just just with just with text based prompts.
- 20:33They can write, they can write based prompt well, yes, and
- 20:37they can make videos now, and you know soon they will be photorealistic.
- 20:45You won't be able to tell the difference. There's still there's still you know,
- 20:48things that you can you can pick them on. But I mean,
- 20:52how far are we from computer right? A write a story in the style
- 20:56of Sherlock Holmes, with a with the villain with the capability of defeating data
- 21:02right off my mind? Keeps going out. We talked about on the show
- 21:08before when we were talking about AI and writing, you know, like movie
- 21:12length or episode length things. You know, they're they're able to do short
- 21:15videos. Right now, we're less than ten years away from me saying,
- 21:22you know, hey, chat GB whatever. I want to see a forty
- 21:26two minute long episode that is a continuation of Star Trek p Space nine season
- 21:30seven. Yep, guy, and maybe I'll give it a couple of parameters.
- 21:34You know. I want to see Cisco like this. I don't want
- 21:37to see them like this. I want to see Major Care like this,
- 21:40not like this. I want to include these characters and not these characters.
- 21:44I spend like a minute and a half saying what I want to see,
- 21:47and then boom, it gives me, you know. And then the more
- 21:49you do that, the more it knows you. It starts making episodes stories
- 21:53based on what you know. So it's it's worse than that. Okay,
- 21:57computer, uh create a video podcast in the style of trek Cast circa twenty
- 22:06twenty four, reacting to the latest Ghostbusters movie that was released yesterday. Sure,
- 22:12and the computer will watch every episode of trek Cast and then recreate us.
- 22:22Oh, Yeah, it's except it's gonna it's gonna like see the two
- 22:26of you and then and then the bottom screen in the video podcast is gonna
- 22:30be some sort of algamation of like me and Chad and some sort of marriage
- 22:37of the two. It's like a Jed I had kid like oh SD,
- 22:40it's like a two vix. Don't worry, you're going right, You're going
- 22:42right out the airlock. It's the only way. It's sad. Dan,
- 22:47I just typed in your prompt that you just gave and I got the video
- 22:51there it is. That's the direct podcast reacting. So it's so lifelike.
- 22:59It's amazing. Yeah. I love the part where it throws turns at the
- 23:03list right. For those of you listening, you're gonna have to watch the
- 23:06show. Just see the you know trek cats. Oh boy. Yeah,
- 23:14all right, Well, did we have did we have a topic? Yeah,
- 23:18we should get to that. Let's go all right, So for our
- 23:29supplemental spotlight, we've got a review of the Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, just released
- 23:36this weekend. Yeah, what's uh, what is Ghostbusters? What is that?
- 23:41Very very very excited, Yeah, eighties franchise that is making a revival
- 23:48okay, basically ghost Excriminators. Is that the one with the gorilla. That's
- 23:53the one with the gorilla? Yes, okay, all right, the real
- 24:00Ghostbuster. Yeah, okay, all right, sorry, I got you got?
- 24:06Is that the bucket or is that the cup? No? This is
- 24:08the cup? Okay, okay, this is the cup. So yeah,
- 24:14so I got a I got a cup at uh it's it's got Ghostbusters on
- 24:18the front with the main villain and the ecdomobile and then a little uh Ghostbusters
- 24:22emblem topper on the top. Yeah. So uh, Dan, do you
- 24:32want to summarize the movie? I want to summarize the movie. You know
- 24:36I have a great memory. All right. So this this movie picks up
- 24:42about three years after Ghostbusters. After life, the Spangler slash Gruberson, Gruberson
- 24:49family have moved to New York City. They're living in the Ghostbusters Firehouse.
- 24:53They are working as Ghostbusters. Winston and his company are the benefactors. They
- 25:04provide the funding, and the family busts the ghosts. Someone else gonna have
- 25:12to feel my voice my voice, yes, I could feel it already.
- 25:18The inspiration for this episode or this show movie was the original cartoon The Real
- 25:25Ghostbusters. So very much had that feel, at least in my mind.
- 25:29I wasn't a big real Ghostbusters stand but Dan is nodding, so I imagine
- 25:33he agrees. Yeah, you know. The the whole storyline is they basically
- 25:38accidentally unlock a horrific ghost demon thing that has been unleashed upon New York and
- 25:45plans to basically kill all the humans, and so it's up to the Ghostbusters,
- 25:49both are new and are original from the eighties, to band together to
- 25:55stop this threat. This film is currently sitting at eighty four percent Rotten Tomatoes,
- 26:00with an audience score well with the critics. So definitely it is the
- 26:06people's movie, which kind of is is good for Ghostbusters because they are the
- 26:11people's Yeah, they'refore the people that. Yeah. I don't think anybody ever
- 26:17accused Ghostbuster, any of the Ghostbusters movies of being critically acclaimed, right right,
- 26:22right, No, no, And I mean there's aspects of these movies
- 26:26that are just downright silly. Yeah. The villain at the end of the
- 26:30first one is a giant marshmallow man. A plot point from the second one
- 26:34is, hey, let's bring the statue of Liberty to life and walk it
- 26:37down Fifth Avenue. Right, you know, you know these aren't serious,
- 26:41these are series, not at all. I did I did notice one of
- 26:45the things. Uh, they made sure to reference Ghostbusters too. Yeah all
- 26:51the times. Yeah, a couple of times in this movie. And for
- 26:53people who don't know, the reason for that is there is a lot of
- 26:59discussion after After Life came out. People weren't sure if Ghostbusters two was canon
- 27:07or not because there's nothing there's nothing in Ghostbusters Afterlife that references Ghostbusters two,
- 27:17and it was kind of a sillier movie and it was less well received than
- 27:21the eighty four film. And there's actually things that don't match up in After
- 27:26Life don't match up with with Ghostbusters two. You know, Ecto one shouldn't
- 27:32be Ecdo one, it should be CTO one A. So was that a
- 27:37different car? Did they have multiple cars? I don't know. Yeah,
- 27:41I'm trying to think some of the other some of the other things that didn't
- 27:44quite match up there, they're slipping my mind right now. But they did.
- 27:48They did reference in this movie. They did show a news broadcast with
- 27:52the Statue of Liberty when they were in the laboratory. If you look in
- 27:56the background, they were experimenting with the line blower from Ye Ghostbusters too,
- 28:02so they made sure to they made sure to reference it. I would have
- 28:07liked to have seen the painting from the end of Ghostbusters too, absolutely,
- 28:12well, no, that doesn't exist anymore, the painting at the end of
- 28:15the Ghostbusters. With all the Ghostbusters. Yeah, there were a couple of
- 28:19scenes with Trevor and Slimer up in the attic. You know, it would
- 28:25have been great to just see this thing leaning there. Yeah, it's like
- 28:29it's not hanging anywhere, but we didn't throw it away. We still have
- 28:33it. That would have been great. Yeah. So this film was made.
- 28:37According to Wikipedia, was made with a one hundred million dollar budget.
- 28:40It is currently sitting at sixty one point six million box office internationally, so
- 28:47pretty good. You know, it's looking positive, on track to do well.
- 28:53Yeah, the movie was what did you think, guys think of it?
- 29:00I loved it, yea, My wifey it. I enjoyed it.
- 29:07It was a good mesh of the old and the new. You know.
- 29:11I was talking with my son on the ride home and I said, you
- 29:15know, there's a lot of Ghostbusters now. In the end scene, they
- 29:18were like, they're like ten people standing around jumping in to do this and
- 29:22realistically, that's if this was a real business, a real you know thing
- 29:29that happened. It's not. It's not four guys in a car. You
- 29:33know. In the very the very first movie, they were like, we
- 29:34need some help. We need to hire another guy, you know, the
- 29:38merchandise he writes alone. Yes, yeah, yes, they would need more
- 29:45than just Janine to handle all. Yeah, some of some of the stuff
- 29:51didn't quite make sense to me, like like when they say things like,
- 29:56oh, let's go see a guy, I know a guy or however,
- 29:59however was that they end up meeting with Venkman. He is the least scientific
- 30:07person. That why it didn't make sense that they met up with him to
- 30:11go evaluate this. What was his name, the fire the fire guy,
- 30:18the fire Master, you know, I mean he does have PhDs in psychology
- 30:25and parapsychology, so he's also a shyster. He is aster, but he's
- 30:30a doctor. Yeah, I guess, I don't know. I think of
- 30:37the same name, Like what valueses he had? I'm like, okay,
- 30:40he he is smart. He's just a goofball, right, yeah, I
- 30:45think it would be more realistic. It would have been more realistic to just
- 30:52a throwaway line something to the fact of, you know, Peter Peter never
- 30:57gave up his third of the company. Mm hmm. You know, Winston
- 31:02is the is the is the money behind the Ghostbusters. But it was originally
- 31:08a company started by three guys, and no matter how down on their luck
- 31:14they may have gotten over the years, Peter Peter never sold his third of
- 31:18the company. That's all you would need to have there. You know,
- 31:22Ray Ray is a total failure. His you know, his bookstore is a
- 31:26failure. He you know, he's he's got nothing. Winston basically supports him,
- 31:32but you know, Peter still has his third of the company. I
- 31:36think that would have been more realistic to get him into the movie and then
- 31:41let's go see Peter Venkman for some science stuff. Right. Yeah, I
- 31:47did like I did like that it was the same calendar from uh yeah first
- 31:52movie. Yeah yeah, yeah that I The more I think about the movie,
- 32:02the less I enjoyed it. Yeah. I definitely have some issues with
- 32:07it. Let's hear it, Okay. I think it was a very good
- 32:12first draft. I think had they worked a little bit more, had more
- 32:15time with it, I think they could have made something really special. So
- 32:20some of my issues are it's more structural in a script, like the main
- 32:27villain. Right. Typically in a movie, you want your villain to be
- 32:31built up throughout, the villain throughout the movie, and you want that threat
- 32:36to get more and more built up. Right. So, as an example,
- 32:40in Endgame, right Avengers Endgame, we start out with Thanos, he
- 32:45fights Kulk. We see that he's just a threat just on his own,
- 32:49right. Then he gets a couple of Infinity Stones. Now he's a bigger
- 32:52threat. Then it ends the movie with he has all the stones. He
- 32:55is a ginormous threat. Right. Whereas with this villain, it's it's trapped
- 33:00in the ball. It gets released, and they do make a point of
- 33:05mentioning that they took the horns off this thing and and once it got you
- 33:07know that weekend it and we were able to stop it. Well, then
- 33:10you know, once it's released, almost immediately it gets its horns back.
- 33:15I think you needed a fight with without the horns where you could see like,
- 33:20okay, the Ghostbusters have a chance against this thing. Right, Then
- 33:23it gets the horns and somehow like oh my god, now it's worse,
- 33:28right, and you see it somehow visually that it's stronger and way worse,
- 33:32you know, and if they could barely handle it, then how are they
- 33:36going to take that on now? So then yeah, I think it keep
- 33:43talking, keep yeah, yeah, it needed it needed stuff like that,
- 33:49right. I think bringing in the fire Master was an interesting concept. I
- 33:55think that that outfit needs a complete redesign, you know, but it's interesting.
- 34:02I do like the idea of different cultures having Ghostbuster type people, and
- 34:09I think that could have been a throw away line like yes, specifically in
- 34:13this culture, that's those people, but and like rattle off a few because
- 34:16then you could use that in other movies in the future. Right. We
- 34:20met up with the with the Japanese versions of what Ghostbusters used to be.
- 34:23Yah, we learned techniques from them, and that'll give you stuff to play
- 34:27with later, Right, things like that that they could have done that had
- 34:31they had more time with the script. I'm sure it would have been apparent,
- 34:36you know, if I'm just thinking about in Idaho, I'm sure they
- 34:37were sitting around writer's room thinking about these things. Right. But Dan's like,
- 34:44you're right, No, you are, You're right. Yeah, what
- 34:49did you what did you guys think about the return of Walter Peckton. He
- 34:55was the mayor, right, is that what they were insinuating? Okay,
- 34:59yeah, I mean he was there to be the bad guy, you know,
- 35:04Yeah, there he was there as a I mean that was an extended
- 35:07cameo. Yeah, basically what that was. And honestly, I don't know
- 35:15how else you could get him into that movie. He worked for what the
- 35:19Environmental Protection Agency Agency in nineteen eighty four, So even if that was his
- 35:23first day on the job in nineteen eighty four, he would have retired around
- 35:30two thousand and four, Yeah, two thousand and fourteen at the latest,
- 35:36you know, so he's not at the EPA anyway. But you know what
- 35:39do some government workers do after they conclude their government career. They go into
- 35:44politics. So I mean, I guess, yeah, yeah, I'm surprised
- 35:49we didn't get that get Yeah, I'm supposed we didn't get a Sigourney Weaver
- 35:53in there. You know. Yeah. I think she's I think she you
- 35:59know, she's a bigger star. Yeah, I think I think she gave
- 36:02them her cameo last time, and and that's you know, that's it.
- 36:08I was really hoping for Rick moranis Yeah, I was hoping he let us
- 36:14down again something I know he would be the credit. Yeah, I even
- 36:21like they didn't even show like even like U in the the I just had
- 36:29a blank when they're showing video of the previous films. Yeah, flashbacks,
- 36:34thank you? Okay, uh the flashbacks they didn't even show. You know
- 36:38that that would have been an opportunity unless that went a wit, you know,
- 36:42against like his wishes. I don't know, it would have been nice
- 36:45to see. I mean, if it sounds like they're going to keep making
- 36:47these movies, it sounds like they're they're setting this up to be an ongoing
- 36:52franchise. And if that's the case, they can bring him whenever he's ready,
- 36:55they can bring him in. I mean, the character is an accountant.
- 37:00Winston has a multimillion dollar corporation. At any point there you go,
- 37:05at any point, he could be reintroduced as the head of accounting or you
- 37:09know that weird guy who works in accounting, and for some reason Winston will
- 37:15let us fire him. They could What did you think about Egon Light that's
- 37:21running the research lab. The girl get his name, but yeah, the
- 37:29guy all the the guy English? Yeah, Yeah, he was okay,
- 37:35who looks kind of like Egon from the cartoon, right right, yea with
- 37:38the blonde hair. Blonde blonde hair. He's wearing the blue jumpsuit instead of
- 37:44the tan jumpsuit. Yeah, he got for the cartoon. The cartoon.
- 37:47Yeah, yeah, I mean it was a fun movie. You know.
- 37:52They had to find a reason to get the kids from Oklahoma or wherever they
- 37:59were, wherever there from to get them to New York. So, I
- 38:02mean, oh, I just remember contrived. But yeah, I just remember
- 38:07another thing that I was thinking about during the movie that they could have fixed.
- 38:10So, so, what's her name's ghost Friend? The ghost Melody,
- 38:16the ghost Friend. Let's discuss the ghost Friend? Go ahead, Yeah you
- 38:21first? You first, My thought was okay, So one of the things
- 38:25they mentioned with the ghost Friend is that she cannot pass over right for whatever
- 38:29reason, She's still tied to the earth and she wants to pass on to
- 38:32the next whatever. Yeah, I think they had it was all right there.
- 38:38They just needed to string it together where she mentions that she accidentally killed
- 38:44her family in the fire and they've all moved on. She wants to be
- 38:46with them, but she's tied. All she had to do is realize it's
- 38:50that guilt that's keeping her. And so when she finally does help the Ghostbusters
- 38:53at the end to defeat the villain, that could have been like what finally
- 38:59releases And you could have mentioned that, like the guilt was keeping her.
- 39:02She's finally overcome that something along line is like I couldn't protect my family,
- 39:07but I'm gonna help save yours. Yeah, and that's what releases her,
- 39:10and now she can move on and that her yeah, tied it together better.
- 39:15Yeah, So I have a thought on that character. So as I
- 39:24was watching their interactions, I thought for sure they were gonna turn this into
- 39:31a romantic relationship between her and Phoebe. And I was I was sitting there
- 39:37on the edge of my seat, kind of gritting my teeth a little bit,
- 39:40because this is supposed to be a family friendly movie and you know,
- 39:46once again, Hollywood is is gonna go all woke. And so I was
- 39:52pleasantly surprised when they did not go down that route. Yeah, However,
- 39:59that doesn't mean that they didn't film those scenes right, And this was a
- 40:06decision made in post production that we're not gonna we're not gonna go down this
- 40:09road. You know, we don't think it's a good idea or whatever.
- 40:13It was vague enough that you don't read it either way you want. Yeah,
- 40:16And a lot of times, a lot of times when they have to
- 40:22delete storylines in there, there's dialogue that goes along with it, right,
- 40:25So you know, it could be that there was more to the story with
- 40:32her and her guilt and and the things that you touched on. But when
- 40:37they took the romance storyline out of it, a lot of that stuff went
- 40:39with it, So you were definitely there. Yeah, Yeah, I do
- 40:45also think that like as a kid that age, you know whatever, that
- 40:50girl's age is, like sixteen, you do stupid things for your friends because
- 40:53your friends are like all that matter to you over your family, you know.
- 40:58So I think it's very much open to to read it however you want.
- 41:00And you're probably right. They probably did maybe shoot scenes that way,
- 41:05but who knows, maybe they cut it for whatever reason. But yeah,
- 41:09that's all I'm saying is that there there are the elements for a great film
- 41:15were there. I just don't think they had the time to finish it.
- 41:19You know. It's telling my sister, she was asking me about it,
- 41:22a big film like this. A lot of times it's really hard to delay
- 41:27because you've got the toys are made that all the other merchandise, seeing the
- 41:30fruit snacks with Ghostbusters on it, the betting everything right, it's a machine,
- 41:37right, so you don't have time to delay at six months, so
- 41:40you can retool the script. You know, this thing is on a it's
- 41:45a train, and we gotta we gotta get on the tracks. Although if
- 41:47they delayed it six months, it would be a Halloween film. I know,
- 41:52yeah, crazy, I would thinking the same thing. You're right,
- 41:54Why wouldn't they just I don't know, maybe just because the time, well
- 41:59they didn't and put it in the summer. Summer would have made sense,
- 42:01Yeah, to remind everybody. Why we you know, because everybody's like,
- 42:07it's cold out, it's in the in the in the film, it goes
- 42:10from summer frozen, you know. Yeah. Yeah, So I don't know.
- 42:15I don't know. They make they make weird decisions like that sometimes.
- 42:19If you watch Batman Returns, Batman Batman Returns is set during Christmas. Yes,
- 42:27and the movie came out in June of nineteen ninety two. Yes,
- 42:31I always I always found that weird. Yeah, I don't know, I
- 42:37don't know, so I can one thing that I noticed. You know,
- 42:44I have a I have a you guys know, I have a Proton pack
- 42:46that I bought from has Lab a few years ago. Apparently the production company
- 42:55was thinking ahead and just bought a bunch of those, because what I'm seeing
- 43:00in all the Ghostbuster Facebook groups I'm in is that those aren't props that they're
- 43:05walking around with. Those are off the shelf Hasbro has Lab packs that they
- 43:10have modified to make them screenworthy. Oh wow, So yeah, so I
- 43:17thought that was I thought that was cool that they thought, yeah, which
- 43:22I mean, it makes sense that has Lab pack is based on actual production
- 43:27model stuff that they use to make these movies. So you now have a
- 43:31mass produced version of your prop. You might as well go the other direction
- 43:38now and use that mass produced prop. I mean, the same thing happened
- 43:42in later episodes of Star Trek Enterprise. The phasers and communicators they were using
- 43:49were the toys that Art Asylum was putting out because they had made that.
- 43:52They had made them to such exacting detail that it made sense, right,
- 43:58Yeah, jazz business. And did you get the breath the brass one,
- 44:00which is the plot point in the movie, which well, it brings up
- 44:06something else for me too, and I'm trying to piece it together from my
- 44:10one viewing of the movie. So the original packs, right, and they
- 44:15have the original packs, and then Winston's company design redesigned the packs. Right
- 44:22now, they the redesigned packs are the ones that first went up against the
- 44:29Frozen Demon and didn't work. And then it was the old school packs that
- 44:32they had re built with brass parts that did kind of work. Do I
- 44:38have that right? I think so. Now My question has nothing to do
- 44:44with what I just said, But my question is what did you think of
- 44:46the redesigned packs that Winston's Company put out? Because I thought they looked way
- 44:52too close to the original I figured a redesigned pack would have looked they were
- 44:58a little bit more like more of that black finish. They were a little
- 45:02bit smaller. I think the packed a little bit smaller too, But I
- 45:05would have expected and I'm sure everybody would have hated the design no matter what
- 45:09that design would have been. But they looked like the original ones. The
- 45:14original ones are forty years old. Like the packs and the the pull,
- 45:21the actual guns themselves, they looked I couldn't really tell a difference they looked
- 45:25kind of the same. Well, the original were put together. He literally
- 45:30just threw them together using spare parts. I would have figured that the redesigned
- 45:35ones would have had like molded handles. And you know, well, I
- 45:38can tell you they are very similar because all of them. I'm in a
- 45:44Facebook group called uh has Lab Modters. Okay, it's for specifically for people
- 45:51who purchased the has Lab, the has Lab pack and wand and then they're
- 45:57modifying it for for whatever reason. And there are a lot of people who
- 46:00as soon as these trailers came out, they started taking stills and modifying their
- 46:06pack to look like to look like the new one. Yeah. So it's
- 46:09that close. They're they're that close to each other that you could take an
- 46:14old one, Yeah, slap some parts on it and paint this part,
- 46:17repaint that part. Uh. The bumper that goes across the back of the
- 46:22cyclotron the new one. They refer to it as the bikini bumper because it
- 46:25looks like a bikini. It's got three it's got three things instead of the
- 46:30two, and it's yellow. So, I mean, they are that close
- 46:35that you can I think it's funny they introduced that that arm cannon thing that
- 46:37the Janine had, which basically kind of breaks the idea of a proton pack
- 46:44because if she can shoot the beam with just a small little device on her
- 46:47wrist, there too having a whole backpack and you know, well, well
- 46:52here's the thing. The packs they can't shoot forever. They overheat and they
- 46:59have to and they have to cool off. So I'd imagine that that smaller
- 47:02one that she has can shoot a beam for an even shorter period of time,
- 47:07like thing like more like it's it's like a handgun as opposed to a
- 47:13rifle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I also wonder if that was
- 47:16like a practical thing for a seventy some odd year old act oh for sure,
- 47:22who didn't want to wear you know, because to make those packs look
- 47:25realistic, they got to have a little bit of he to them. I
- 47:28would I would imagine the props are probably still pretty heavy. It's that it's
- 47:32it'll give us another thing to sell. It's it's all of it combined.
- 47:37That was my point. Another thing to sell, and that's a good point,
- 47:39is the redesigned packs. That's another reason why I'm surprised they didn't.
- 47:45You know that Winston's company didn't design them differently, same fundamental thing, a
- 47:52backpack with a hose that goes to a gun. Yeah, but a redesign
- 47:55to make them look more stylish so they don't look like they're from bare parts.
- 48:00Is you can sell the toys and the and the the new props and
- 48:04the new Yeah, I think you have to be careful with how much you
- 48:07change it. Okay, in that every iteration of the Enterprise that we've ever
- 48:15seen, it's a saucer, it's a neck, it's a primary hull,
- 48:21it's two pylons and two NA cells. That's it. That is always going
- 48:25to be the Starship Enterprise. There will never be anything that looks like the
- 48:30Defiant that is called the Enterprise. It always has to have that basic configuration.
- 48:37So I think they can update things, but they're gonna it's it's still
- 48:42got to resemble the old one. Yes, Scott, don't don't worry.
- 48:45If they get another movie, they're gonna redesign the backs again because they're gonna
- 48:50have all new product to sell again. I hope. So they're gonna,
- 48:53Yeah, Scott's just Scott's just trying to decide when am I gonna jump in?
- 48:58Which kind of pack trying to pack you do I want, right?
- 49:01I just I expected something that would that would come out of like maybe the
- 49:05Apple Store. You know. I figured it would be like a sleek LEDs
- 49:08you knows, because maybe they would make their own camera flares, you know.
- 49:15Yeah, I was just expecting something a complete redesign that didn't you know,
- 49:22or I know, I'm beating a dead horse. I just thought I
- 49:23was gonna see something different. Well, just say I love the old packs.
- 49:28Just so you know, some of these motors are are fully engaged in
- 49:32the process of converting one of those popcorn bucket traps into a drone that will
- 49:39actually fly. Of course, that is how nerdy some of these guys are.
- 49:44Yeah, that's great, that's great. That's why would be You know,
- 49:46when when the last movie came out, they were slapping them on r
- 49:52C cars and you know, driving them around comic con parking lots. So
- 49:55yeah, it's great, it's great. God, it is severely nerding out
- 50:01and it's awesome, which reminds me. We got a comic con coming up
- 50:06in April twelfth through the fourteenth. I'm hopefully going to be there all three
- 50:10days. So if you're in the Kalamazoo area. Hit me up on Facebook.
- 50:15Maybe we can do a meet up. Nice. Cool, Well,
- 50:21I'll have to check if I'm going to be in Kalamazoo that weekend. Yeah,
- 50:24I'm gonna check. It's only what a twelve hour drive something like that.
- 50:30Okay, that could do it a lot longer for me. Yeah,
- 50:36but yeah, so that was the movie. We should probably get feedback,
- 50:43Yeah, listener feedback? All right, So let me put the link in
- 50:53the Facebook group or in the in the chat so people can join us.
- 51:00Yeah, so let's see any feedback going. No, I don't have it.
- 51:06Do you guys get any feedback this week? I did not. I
- 51:09don't have a receptacle for feedback, so I might. I might have to
- 51:14work with that. I'm going to see if there's a right I'm going to
- 51:20see if track cast uh me centric related Gmail account that could be taken.
- 51:29Yeah. Yeah, I don't want to mention any of my ideas for one
- 51:34because I don't want, you know, thousands of dollars for one feedback.
- 51:39So here we go. There he is in the car, He's right next
- 51:45to me. This is amazing, right next to Dan right now. Yeah,
- 51:52I've been quiet this whole time. That's right, I've been not in
- 51:57my head and I uh huh uh huh. Yeah, he's in one of
- 52:00discussed discoveries, like ninety five different shuttle craft that they have there. You
- 52:04go, don't don't crash. The show is not that important. I'm not
- 52:08in Great Britain either, So I got the White drive in and it's kind
- 52:15of scary. Oh good, did you watch the is she is? She
- 52:22gonna say hello to the to the viewers, Hello, we're going to an
- 52:29earlier movie and she's like, I did not do my hair, don't put
- 52:31me on here. Nice? You guys need to go see Sleepless in Seattle.
- 52:40Okay, oh cool, you know we're we're reviewing that next week.
- 52:46Yeah, that next week. Yeah, it's the director nor e pron Uh.
- 52:52I guess we'll do a whole nor Fron movies. So there, there
- 52:57you go. Yeah, you've got mail and when Harry met Sally so mm
- 53:01hm oh right on, that's cool. That's cool. Yeah, So what
- 53:07do you think of Ghostbusters? I liked it, but my my complaint is
- 53:12too many characters. Yeah, you didn't have enough time to flesh out the
- 53:16protagonists or anything. Because you're you know, showing everybody that recently was in
- 53:23other movies, you know, because everybody wants to see what everybody's up to,
- 53:27you know. And if they could have made the movie a little bit
- 53:32longer, they probably could have done that, but being was it under two
- 53:37hours, just under? Yeah, yeah, you're right, half the characters
- 53:44could have not been there, and you wouldn't have. You did need to
- 53:47bring the friends from Oklahoma. Probably, you didn't need podcasts. You didn't
- 53:54need the older brother, you didn't need the older brother's romantic interest. You
- 54:00didn't because the mom didn't. Mom didn't do much, although she had kind
- 54:07of had to be there for the and I I liked I kind of liked
- 54:10where they were going with the whole. I don't know what my role as
- 54:15stepdad is. Yeah, I think they could have buttoned that up a little
- 54:20bit better instead of like her accidentally calling him dad and going, oh,
- 54:23I'm sorry, I men't I don't think it was I don't think it was
- 54:27an accident. And I think she desperately wants a dad. She's never had
- 54:32a dad, and she's never had a lot of purpose and then played it
- 54:38off like an accident. Yes, and a lot of families, uh,
- 54:45where there isn't a dad present. You know, the grandfather steps in a
- 54:51lot of times and raises his grandkids and he is the positive male role model.
- 54:55She didn't have that either, right, Yeah, you know, Egan
- 54:59is gone, her dad is gone. She has no positive male role model.
- 55:04And then here comes this Grubersen guy and hey, he's you know,
- 55:07he's a scientist like me. So yeah, I don't think that was an
- 55:12accident. Yeah, I kind of wish, you know, if you're gonna
- 55:15stick with the family, they should either stuck with the family more or added
- 55:21some of the other characters that I don't know. That's the thing was just
- 55:24too many and it was just hard to if you really wanted to. You
- 55:31could have broken this up into two movies in that you you end this first
- 55:37film where like the what was the name of the main bad guy? I
- 55:40forget gon or Well that's the thing. I thought the bad guy was cool
- 55:45and I thought Kummel John does own job. Yeah Frozen, Yeah, no,
- 55:50you could have so, so what you could have done is maybe this
- 55:52movie they take out one of its generals, right, but but you end
- 55:58the movie where it gets its lawrence. It's unleashed the ghost Army, you
- 56:02know, and all the ghost again. Yeah. Yeah, that's what that
- 56:09guy revioded, right. I would have liked if they just met a haunted
- 56:13house. But the haunted house is the Ghostbusters house. Yeah, okay,
- 56:16like they're moving back in there and they got to do something to containment unit
- 56:20because it's leaky. Yeah, just come back there and have to figure out
- 56:27building. The next movie, then you bring in those side characters that that
- 56:30you didn't really have time for, just kind of threw them in, but
- 56:32like basically we need to help, and then you call in those other guys.
- 56:37And then the next movie is they take on the Big Monster and its
- 56:40ghost. Yeah, and then and and Vin Diesel because when they all when
- 56:46they all grab the proton pack at the end and the ghost like a family,
- 56:51everybody gets their corona at the end of the movie as a barbecue.
- 56:54And then they go to Olive Garden and then they tune the Ecto one and
- 57:00put some types on it one yeah yeah, and the Eco one with with
- 57:09nitrous would be amazing. Yeah, it wouldn't be able to stop. But
- 57:13no, never, it's got like probably drum break all the way around.
- 57:17I know this is. I know this is sacrilege. I know there's there's
- 57:21gonna be some Ghostbuster nerds who are gonna hate me for this. Create Eco
- 57:28one what they need? They need new vehicle. Yeah, you know it's
- 57:31a sixty year old CAU. I love it though, I love it all.
- 57:36God, I want an ectopt cruiser. Yeah. I want like a
- 57:42modern like a modern s u V all tricked out. That's that's what I
- 57:45want. Yea cyber one. You know, the cyber truck. Is that
- 57:52what you said? Yeah, you need something kind of funky looking. That
- 57:55would really be I think the cyber truck would be great for uh if they
- 58:00read you back to the future. Oh yeah, you think Winston's character could
- 58:06have donated a vehicle to them. He has this whole nice center and everything,
- 58:10well he had he had Acto on, you know, he brought it
- 58:14to Maco Dodge super And I thought that part was kind of messy too,
- 58:29because you had, uh, you know, you're spending too much time with
- 58:35Winston's little place, and then you're you know, you gotta add screen time
- 58:39on that, and then you gotta add screen time on the family, and
- 58:43then screen time here, and you're under It was it two hours, and
- 58:49you don't have time to flesh out the antagonists and the protagonists because she's sidelined
- 58:55pretty much to the whole movie. Right there wasn't a main character like No,
- 59:00I wish I wish her and Ray, you know, because Ray,
- 59:05you know, dan Ackroyd's so crazy with Ghost right now, and you tell
- 59:08he was into the movie, super excited. I wish they would have focused
- 59:14on his character more because I don't know, he's so goofy, you know.
- 59:21And then maybe Phoebe. Yeah, it should have been a Ray and
- 59:24Phoebe movie, yes, yeah, and then you bring the other two in
- 59:28at the end. Because Bill Murray he just took a paycheck. He didn't
- 59:32care. Yeah yeah, Bill Murray just threw pencils at Kumel and was like,
- 59:38yeah, that's what I'm doing today. Yeah, so yeah, that
- 59:45could have been a c G I Bill Murray nobody. Yeah, honestly,
- 59:51again, I'm gonna get the hate. But they didn't need him, no,
- 59:55because he they didn't need him at all. No, if you're not
- 1:00:00going to show up and act like you care, you know, you're like,
- 1:00:05ah, I'm here. Whenever you're e mailed to trek cast TNDT Gmail
- 1:00:08dot Well, I love attention Dan in the subject line that's fine, Yeah,
- 1:00:15that's fine. Yeah, I enjoy I enjoy looking at these movies sometimes
- 1:00:21and applying lot and applying logic to certain things, and then chuckling to myself,
- 1:00:27like we know from the last movie that Egan stole Ecto one, all
- 1:00:30the packs, all the traps and moved to Oklahoma. Yeah, so now
- 1:00:37I'm just imagining Egon in Ecto one on this like old style Route sixty six
- 1:00:44road trip, you know, all the equipment. Yeah, here's Oklahoma for
- 1:00:47you, say, oh Oklahoma. You know. I was like, how
- 1:00:53are you gonna get all your friends to New York too and live there?
- 1:00:59Yeah? It was like everybody uproots from here and moves to New York because
- 1:01:02it's super cheap in New York City. Really. Yeah, it's like podcast.
- 1:01:12That that really confused me, because Podcast is a minor. He's just
- 1:01:15gonna be Yeah, he's a miner in the basement of Raise, a cult
- 1:01:19bookstore. That's yeah. When you were fourteen, if you went to your
- 1:01:23parents say hey, I'm gonna go live in this strange man's basement for the
- 1:01:27summer, really, she should have well, podcasts should have been invited over
- 1:01:34for the summer whatever. Yeah, you know, and that would have made
- 1:01:37more sense than him with three. Yeah, because he's a minor with an
- 1:01:43old man and it's kind of weird. So I was like, where are
- 1:01:47you living at? What are you doing? I have no idea, So
- 1:01:53it made more sense to have your friends come to New York and like,
- 1:01:57hey, I need you, you know, for backup, because they sideline
- 1:02:00in me because he won't let me work, and so they got to do
- 1:02:02the busting on their own because they're young. And that's when you get the
- 1:02:07older brother that could drive and do things, and you focus on the kid
- 1:02:10the research institute. Yeah, yeah, that didn't make any sense. Also
- 1:02:16the love interest of the older brother too. Yeah, I'm looking it up
- 1:02:22right now. Yeah, I think that's her name. Yeah, but uh
- 1:02:27yeah, Lucky, Like I didn't understand, well, you know, based
- 1:02:30on the conversation of the last movie you know where He says, where are
- 1:02:34you from? And she says, I don't know. He says, let's
- 1:02:37find out. Wait a minute, that was another franchise. Yeah, it
- 1:02:39just it was weird that she she was like, who are you? You're
- 1:02:44gonna work for? Me now, yeah, Winston, I did. I
- 1:02:49didn't understand the connection there, Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, it
- 1:02:52would have been better picking picking them up at at LaGuardia in the Ecto one.
- 1:02:57Yeah, because there because it's summer, it's supper and we're going we're
- 1:03:01going to New York City for the time. And they're there and they're like,
- 1:03:06wow, what did I was in the last movie? I'm here now?
- 1:03:12And that's it? Yeah, like inviting the kids for like an internship
- 1:03:16or something, or like what they really need. All they needed to do
- 1:03:22was have Ray Uh turn to Gruberson and say, see if podcasts can delay
- 1:03:30his return to Deep Space nine this mission, and that's all you need.
- 1:03:34That's all you need, all you would need. They need to wharf that
- 1:03:37ship. That's it. Yep. Yeah, yeah, well I could kind
- 1:03:46of see why you know, Ivan Rightman's son like didn't direct the movie because
- 1:03:52he probably saw the script and he's like, man, I can't think the
- 1:03:54script write it, but they probably go, yeah, they probably added so
- 1:04:01much crap in there that he couldn't finish it, so he's like other stuff
- 1:04:06to do. He was just like, all right, someone else can do
- 1:04:09this movie. Yeah. I was glad to see Obviously, I was glad
- 1:04:13to see Anni Potts. She's a national treasure. I loved her. Did
- 1:04:15you guys notice the other minor character that was in there that was in the
- 1:04:20very first movie. He was the manager at the library. Yeah, say
- 1:04:25that library was fantastic. I loved it. Well. I was hoping they'd
- 1:04:30call the mayor dicklus or whatever the guy's name is. So somebody said that
- 1:04:33somebody in the crowd yell, yeah, okay, which which Which is the
- 1:04:41most New York thing you can do? There's not enough? You see.
- 1:04:46Did you see the TikTok of the guy. He's walking down the street.
- 1:04:50He runs into uh let's who was the mayor, and he's like hey,
- 1:04:59hey, and the two of them were posing. He goes, hey,
- 1:05:01hey, thanks for sucking up the city, asshole. That's amazing. That's
- 1:05:12correct. This man has no dick. So what he yelled when he yelled
- 1:05:15at him, I was like, that is the most New York City thing
- 1:05:18you do. That's awesome, all right. It was like, well,
- 1:05:27we just ruined that day. We've got a mature rating now, it's fine.
- 1:05:36That was something I was gonna mention about the old Treck cast episodes.
- 1:05:40It's you guys pursed a lot back. Yeah, yeah, there were a
- 1:05:44lot of bombs, oh for sure. Oh my goodness. Right, all
- 1:05:51right, Jazz, there's anything else you want to bring up? That's it.
- 1:05:55I got to say this movie because I'm all right, good luck,
- 1:05:57alright, go go the bucket. Yes, it will be the Empire building,
- 1:06:09all right. I did ask the Facebook group one of the things you
- 1:06:14guys did back in the day was you guys were talking about your favorite Chad's
- 1:06:20and your favorite Dan's, and your favorite you know, daniels, and you
- 1:06:24guys talked about mostly for Chad was Hanging Chad. Everybody loved Hanging Chad.
- 1:06:30And your favorite Dan was Danny LaRusso Daniel, of course. So I asked,
- 1:06:34what's your favorite Scott? I got a couple of them here. Dan
- 1:06:40Lombardo uh gave a reference to Michael Scott from the Office, also Scott toilet
- 1:06:45paper, thank you, and then Tim Lamb uh gave back to the Future
- 1:06:51reference. The saying of Great Scott was one of his. So I like
- 1:06:57it. I like it. It's a good tram print right there, yep.
- 1:07:04So what do we have coming up in the near future. So next
- 1:07:12week we'll be doing our prediction show for Stortic Discovery season five. Okay,
- 1:07:17and then right after that the show starts. So are we we're doing a
- 1:07:21show next Sunday? Yes, Oh, we should probably do it Saturday.
- 1:07:29Then. Yeah, I did not even realize that. We'll figure it out.
- 1:07:38We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out, We'll figure out.
- 1:07:41I love this. This is like, this is almost like its own segment
- 1:07:44the last show. The last minute of the show is us making plans on
- 1:07:49the show and then and then going, you know what, we'll figure it
- 1:07:53out. Let you know. Yeah. See, the thing is I didn't
- 1:07:55want to not mention it because then it would be off the air and nobody
- 1:07:58would know. You're right, right, fair enough? Sorry? Yeah,
- 1:08:01I meant to bring my a game. Yeah you brought. Yeah. So
- 1:08:12I will be for the following week when when Discovery starts up again, I
- 1:08:15will be on the road, but I plan on being here. So,
- 1:08:20okay, I might be in a shuttle pod if we do if we do
- 1:08:25predictions, Oh that's my thing, buddy. Hey, you're not the only
- 1:08:29one that has a shuttle pod, that's right, Okay, on this show,
- 1:08:31I am. I got I've got I've got the USS Edge okay,
- 1:08:45and it doesn't have car seats. Oh what do you stand? Yes,
- 1:08:49I no, I take my infants and I just put him in the back
- 1:08:55seat, you know, like a like a dad from the eighties. They're
- 1:08:59fine. Yeah, it'll be five awesome. So well, yeah, just
