  Speaker 1: to reach their hearts and minds and be able to

  Speaker 1: apply these verses to their lives. In the Lord Jesus

  Speaker 1: Christ's name I pray. Amen. Amen. So we're going to

  Speaker 1: be in Mark chapter 3 tonight. If you would like

  Speaker 1: be resonated well with you, but some of them they will.

  Speaker 1: So this might be the one. So just stick and

  Speaker 1: stay all the way to the end. Mark chapter 3.

  Speaker 1: And it is titled, Jesus Makes a Man Well on
• 0:57
  Speaker 1: the Day of Rest. Mark chapter 3 verse 1 states,

  Speaker 1: Another time Jesus went into the Jewish meeting place. A
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: man was there. His hand was very small and weak.
• 1:11
  Speaker 1: So he could not use it. Some Pharisees were watching
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: Jesus carefully. They wanted to find a reason to say
• 1:19
  Speaker 1: that Jesus was doing wrong things. It was the Jewish
• 1:24
  Speaker 1: day of rest. So the Pharisees watched Jesus to see
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: if he would make the man well on this day.
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: Verse 3, Jesus said to the man, Stand here in
• 1:37
  Speaker 1: front of everyone. Then Jesus said to the Pharisees, It
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: is right for us to do good things on the
• 1:45
  Speaker 1: day of rest. Is it right? Is it right? Jesus
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: is asking them like almost like a, he already knows
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: the answer, right? Listen, for us to do good things
• 1:58
  Speaker 1: on our day of rest, the question mark, or should
• 2:02
  Speaker 1: we do bad things? Question mark. Should we save a
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: person's life or should we kill people? Nobody said anything.

  Speaker 1: The authority that Jesus had when we're talking about these
• 2:18
  Speaker 1: first verses, It's obvious that the man that has the
• 2:24
  Speaker 1: weak hand and everything is a plot. Jesus knew it
• 2:33
  Speaker 1: when he saw him. So he brings the man even
• 2:38
  Speaker 1: closer and says to stand in front of everyone and
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: is asking the Pharisees, the religious leaders, what should we do?
• 2:47
  Speaker 1: Should we not help this person on day of rest?
• 2:51
  Speaker 1: Or should we kill? You know, it's like he was
• 2:55
  Speaker 1: playing the game too. And all of us seem to
• 2:58
  Speaker 1: need to understand that this is a game. You might
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: have heard, oh, don't play with me. This isn't a game. Well,
• 3:07
  Speaker 1: I mean, quite frankly, life is a game. It's not
• 3:14
  Speaker 1: a video game. It's a Life that consists of a
• 3:20
  Speaker 1: lot of chess moves and metaphor for people that love
• 3:25
  Speaker 1: their chess and checkers. There's a winner, there's a loser.
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: You know? And in life, we lose a lot, but
• 3:39
  Speaker 1: we also win a lot. And we tend to forget
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: how far we've actually already come. So when we're talking
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: about Jesus here in front of the Pharisees, and I
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: know I'll go all over the place. This is the
• 3:52
  Speaker 1: Ember Show. Thank you for pressing play again. Let's get

  Speaker 1: into it a little deeper. Verse 5. Jesus looked around
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: at everyone and he felt angry with them. He was
• 4:04
  Speaker 1: sad because they did not want to learn. On the
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: day of rest, this is what, you know, I'm going
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: to get deeper into it. This is the day of
• 4:14
  Speaker 1: rest where everybody's just lounging around and just You know,
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: not doing nothing. They didn't want to learn on this day.
• 4:22
  Speaker 1: Everybody thinks that Jesus was all peace, hippie, this, that. No,
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: he got angry too. He got angry. Then he said
• 4:31
  Speaker 1: to the man, lift up your hand. The man lifted
• 4:34
  Speaker 1: his hand and it became well. He could use it again.
• 4:38
  Speaker 1: Verse 6. The Pharisees left the meeting place immediately. They
• 4:43
  Speaker 1: went to meet with some other people. Who were friends
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: with the ruler. He brought the Pharisees. Talked with them.
• 4:53
  Speaker 1: About how they could kill Jesus. So they found. They
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: found a reason. They finally found a reason. In a
• 5:01
  Speaker 1: sinless man. To kill him. Oh he. Formed a miracle.
• 5:09
  Speaker 1: On the day of rest. Crowds of people come to Jesus.
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: This is Matthew. I'm sorry Mark. chapter 3, verse 7.

  Speaker 1: Jesus left that place and he went away to Lake
• 5:20
  Speaker 1: Gali with his disciples. A large crowd of people from
• 5:26
  Speaker 1: Gali followed him. Followed them. Verse 8. Many people also
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: came to him from Jerusalem and from a region of
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: Israel called Adumaleh. They also came from places on the
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: other side of the Jordan River and from the towns
• 5:49
  Speaker 1: called Tyre and Sidon. Many people had heard about the
• 5:54
  Speaker 1: things that Jesus was doing. This is why all these
• 5:59
  Speaker 1: people came to him. See, at this point, Jesus is
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: not only... drawing crowds he's gaining a little bit of
• 6:14
  Speaker 1: popularity right he's done all these miracles and obviously the
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: pharisees and the religious leaders did not like this it's
• 6:23
  Speaker 1: just more and more that he was doing the more
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: and more that the crowds grew the more and more
• 6:29
  Speaker 1: that people would go tell it was word of mouth
• 6:31
  Speaker 1: you gotta think there wasn't no social media back then
• 6:34
  Speaker 1: so you got everybody walking around have you heard about
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: this jesus have you heard about this jesus oh he
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: did this he did that he rose the the dead.
• 6:42
  Speaker 1: He gave sight to the blind. And you could see
• 6:47
  Speaker 1: how the jealousy of the Pharisees and the religious leaders
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: started to really just overboil at this point. And this
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: is what it's saying in the Gospel of Matthew and Mark.

  Speaker 1: Because we just covered Matthew and it was basically a
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: lot of similar things in this. And when we get
• 7:06
  Speaker 1: into it a little bit deeper, sick people were pushing
• 7:09
  Speaker 1: to the front. Because they were trying to touch Jesus.
• 7:13
  Speaker 1: They knew that he had made many people well. Verse 11.
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: Forgive me if I've skipped over a few. Verse 11.
• 7:22
  Speaker 1: Often a person with a bad spirit saw Jesus. Ooh,
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: this is where we get deep. Often. Now it says
• 7:29
  Speaker 1: often a person with a bad spirit saw Jesus. Then
• 7:32
  Speaker 1: the spirit caused the person to fall down on the
• 7:34
  Speaker 1: ground in front of Jesus. The spirit caused that person
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: to shout out, You are the Son of God, verse 12.

  Speaker 1: Jesus often had to say to the bad spirits, you
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: must not tell anyone who I am. Jesus chooses his
• 7:51
  Speaker 1: 12 apostles, verse 13, Mark chapter 3. Jesus went up
• 7:58
  Speaker 1: a mountain. He chose some men and he asked them
• 8:02
  Speaker 1: to go there with him. So they met together with
• 8:06
  Speaker 1: him there. Verse 14, he chose a group of 12 men.
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: He called them his apostles. He wanted them to be
• 8:14
  Speaker 1: with him. And he would send them to teach people
• 8:17
  Speaker 1: about God. Verse 15, and we'll close out here. Jesus
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: gave these men authority to cause bad spirits to leave people. Ooh,
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: that authority, right? I want to talk about for the
• 8:34
  Speaker 1: remainder of this episode. When you are a follower of
• 8:41
  Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. And you're not just a believer. Over time
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: this authority is placed in you. And it's up to
• 8:54
  Speaker 1: you what you do with it. I'm not going to
• 8:57
  Speaker 1: sit here and say the things that I've done. I
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: don't want to boast in myself. I want to boast
• 9:02
  Speaker 1: in the Holy Spirit. Amen. So I want to give
• 9:06
  Speaker 1: you a perspective. of being a recovering alcoholic and a
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: recovering addict. You know, being on the other side of
• 9:14
  Speaker 1: the fence, living for the world, living for Satan himself.
• 9:19
  Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and say that I
• 9:21
  Speaker 1: was a horrible person, but it doesn't matter if you
• 9:24
  Speaker 1: sin one time or you sin a hundred times. Sinning
• 9:27
  Speaker 1: is sinning, especially if you continue to do it and
• 9:29
  Speaker 1: you don't ask for repentance. You don't ask God to
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: take it away. And it's not like, oh, he can
• 9:34
  Speaker 1: just take it away. You have to put the work in, right?
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: Anybody can sit here and know that they're doing wrong,
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: but if they don't change, like being honest, open, and
• 9:44
  Speaker 1: willing to seek help, I understand how you can be
• 9:48
  Speaker 1: a stubborn person and not want to ask for help.
• 9:52
  Speaker 1: That's ego and pride. Those things must die in order
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: for the spirit to take place. If you do not,
• 10:00
  Speaker 1: address your ego and pride your pride and your ego
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: will address you and take over you and for a
• 10:09
  Speaker 1: lot of people that may work for so long for
• 10:15
  Speaker 1: so long and it does not have to fall in
• 10:19
  Speaker 1: the lines of just addicts. We can talk about religious leaders.
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: We can talk about pastors. We can talk about people
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: of organized religion that can get sucked into this way
• 10:35
  Speaker 1: of looking down upon others that do not follow their
• 10:39
  Speaker 1: same suit. Now let me go a little deeper. It
• 10:43
  Speaker 1: works the same for the dark side. Not everybody that
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: you encounter with Is even a believer in God, Jesus,
• 10:52
  Speaker 1: and the Holy Spirit. And that is okay. You don't
• 10:56
  Speaker 1: need to conform people. You don't need to put them
• 11:00
  Speaker 1: in a box. For Jesus came down himself and was
• 11:06
  Speaker 1: a spiritual being. Performing miracles. Having that same spirit live
• 11:13
  Speaker 1: in you gives you some types of authority. Now you
• 11:18
  Speaker 1: can't just go around and just raise the dead out
• 11:24
  Speaker 1: of the grave. There's certain things that when it talks
• 11:27
  Speaker 1: about this authority. It's also talking within self. To take
• 11:32
  Speaker 1: away self-doubt. To take away insecurities. To take away pride.
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: To take away just your way of thinking. These authorities
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: are just not just your modern day. Oh, we're going
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: to go do an exorcism. on somebody and get the
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: demons out. That's not necessarily how this works. I have
• 11:52
  Speaker 1: to giggle a little bit because the mainstream and the
• 11:56
  Speaker 1: Hollywood and all these scary movies have definitely, definitely have
• 12:02
  Speaker 1: given us the wrong perspective on really how God works.
• 12:07
  Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong. These, these exorcisms, right? They
• 12:13
  Speaker 1: do take place, but For whatever reason it may be,
• 12:19
  Speaker 1: it may be for show. It may also just be
• 12:22
  Speaker 1: for somebody that doesn't necessarily want to even get the help, right?
• 12:30
  Speaker 1: There's different stories. And everybody has their way of looking
• 12:37
  Speaker 1: at spirituality and religion. I am not a religious person.
• 12:43
  Speaker 1: This is not a religious podcast. This is Christ-driven. It
• 12:49
  Speaker 1: is for followers of Christ and believers of Christ. But
• 12:53
  Speaker 1: also God and the Holy Spirit. I need to make
• 12:56
  Speaker 1: this clear. I have two minutes left. And even though
• 13:02
  Speaker 1: I follow the one that was perfect, that is perfect,
• 13:07
  Speaker 1: and that will be perfect, does not mean that I
• 13:12
  Speaker 1: am perfect. I am a diamond that has been dirty,
• 13:17
  Speaker 1: that has been thrown around, that has been under pressure.
• 13:21
  Speaker 1: And the Holy Spirit is cleaning me up. I can
• 13:23
  Speaker 1: still be petty. I can still be bad at goodbyes.
• 13:28
  Speaker 1: I still miss certain people that probably don't miss me.
• 13:32
  Speaker 1: And that's a character defect or whatever you want to
• 13:35
  Speaker 1: call it. But at the end of the day, my
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: love is authentic. My love is real. And when I
• 13:41
  Speaker 1: say that I'm in love with you, It takes a
• 13:44
  Speaker 1: long time for me to get out of love with you.
• 13:49
  Speaker 1: However I do it, we all have our ways of
• 13:51
  Speaker 1: moving on. I don't want to be self-pity. I don't
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: want to be petty. And I definitely don't want to
• 14:00
  Speaker 1: wish ill upon any of my exes. But there's one
• 14:03
  Speaker 1: in particular that's probably going to listen to this. And
• 14:06
  Speaker 1: I need you to understand this. That it's going to
• 14:10
  Speaker 1: be very hard for me to completely give up on you.
• 14:13
  Speaker 1: And I'm not fighting in the same ways that I
• 14:15
  Speaker 1: fought for you before. It's going to be unique. You
• 14:19
  Speaker 1: don't know where I'm going to come from. And I'm
• 14:22
  Speaker 1: not saying that as in oh I'm going to stalk you. No.
• 14:25
  Speaker 1: I have yet to get a stalking charge. And I
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: will not get a stalking charge. Because of the fact
• 14:33
  Speaker 1: that I know. That you know. That we've been down
• 14:38
  Speaker 1: this road before. And I just want you to know
• 14:42
  Speaker 1: that my door is always open. You can text, call
• 14:45
  Speaker 1: me anytime. I don't expect it. I'm not going to
• 14:47
  Speaker 1: blow your phone up. Just know that I love you.
