I Susanna Massari: It is so great to be with you. Deb Snyder: am so blessed to have mediums from all over the world with us. Of course, this is rare medium, so we want to showcase and celebrate the mediums that are from all over I want to talk to you about, let's start off with your origin. Tell us how it all began. How did you start? Susanna Massari: I was about nine, it was somewhere around nine. And I was at home, grew up in Miami. I lived in a unusual house at the time. It was built on stilts and it was basically a rectangle. It was just a s a long square box and with two floors, obviously. The cars were parked underneath. And if anyone, and I'm dating myself here. In Miami at the time, and I'm sure they still have them, we had jealousy windows, which are glass windows that you roll open and roll closed. it was very popular in the subtropics and the tropics. And so being high off the ground, I was fairly close to the treetops. And so I was sitting in our family room one night and I was just looking out of the window. And above the tree line, it was too low for an airplane. Above the tree line, I saw this round, huge ball of light that went over the trees. I got out of my seat, went across the room, went into my bedroom, and watched it disappear, and it just It just disappeared. We were not close to the airport. There was no sound to it. I knew at that time it was a UFO. Not long after that, I walked into my room and the whole house was tiled with large tiles from Cuba. in the middle of the room, in the very middle of one of the tiles, there were three silver I don't know what you would call them. They kind of look like fillings. They were just like nuggets, like what fool's gold would look like, but much smaller. But there were three of them. And I looked at them and I picked them up and I said, the UFO people were here last night. from then on, I was having dreams of deceased relatives. I was having in way into my twenties and thirties, dreams about being out of body, being in different dimensions. at the time that I met my husband, Tom, who's a channel, I met him in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and I was taking an ESP class that he was putting on. And that was the first time that he had publicly channeled. I had some kind of premonition before I met him, some kind of dream that I had. And I happened to have heard a relative on the radio who was a psychic and was talking about his classes. So I went and everything went from there. it was the beginning of my UFO experiences. I've had lot of experiences, mediumship style experiences with UFOs. I've had dreams, multiple dreams of being on a craft where they're teaching me about energy and how they use energy and manipulate energy to go wherever they need to go in their craft. I've received information which I don't remember. I remember getting it, but I don't remember what it was. And so through Abram, who is Tom's source, I've done a lot of questioning with him. I've asked him a lot of questions about this. Come to find out that both Tom and I our E.T. origins are from the Pallades. Now, I believe that everyone on earth here in this reality, that we are all from an E.T. origin. We're not from here. We're just visitors, working out whatever we need to work out, experiencing what we need to experience, learning how to use energy, understanding that everything is consciousness, absolutely everything. that's what I mean by my origins. And sometimes during a reading, and it's all spontaneous, I never can. Ask and have it received, it's only when the person receiving the reading that needs to have the information that comes through for me. sometimes there, their origins are outside of this galaxy. I have no idea where. I just know it's outside of this galaxy. And so that's what I mean by origins and what my origins are. And so that's how it started. Deb Snyder: That's fascinating. And you have felt this resonance in your entire life, this just knowingness about that. and Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: not even having validation except through an external source, which you got through Tom and his channel. what you already felt inside, was then validated by something on the outside. Susanna Massari: Yes. Deb Snyder: Yeah. That Susanna Massari: Yeah. Deb Snyder: That's very, very interesting. Now we've learned on this show with the different people that we've talked to that everybody does mediumship, energy, psychic work a little bit differently. How does it work for you? Susanna Massari: Everyone has their own style. During my life, my emotions have been at the forefront. And I often wondered why am I so emotional in this lifetime? There's got to be a reason. There has to be a reason why I am so emotional and I feel so deeply and I'm so emotionally sensitive. What is wrong with me? Why is this happening to me? And then now it's I'm gonna date myself again that when I was going to Tom's ESP class, at the time the word channel was not even being used. The word medium was used for people who channeled, and there was only a handful in the United States that were doing it. And anyone else was a psychic. All of the experiences that I was having of people coming through. Now I trusted my dream state because I would get a lot of visitations from my relatives that passed. I didn't know that I could talk back. I thought I was getting psychic impressions, and that went on for 30 years, that I just kept getting. People coming in and all these things happening. And I thought, well, I'm psychic. I'm just getting psychic impressions. And it wasn't until I watched Crossing Over with John Edward that it clicked that I can do this. so I started talking back. Deb Snyder: That's wonderful. Susanna Massari: It was wild. it it's amazing what labels can do and how it can conform us and limit us. Deb Snyder: I I I can relate to that fully. I've been a psychic my whole life since I was a child. I come from a family that lend toward those abilities. It sounds like yourself too, I held off the label of medium for a very long time because I never wanted to disappoint anyone. And I was so fearful of not being able to deliver. on what maybe their expectations were. And I set myself up with so many tests to make sure it was okay before I then adopted that label as you're just saying, along with so now psychic medium. as well as mom and metaphysician and wife and all the other labels that we have thrown into life. Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: but I did I even challenge Spirit to, Call me out on it if I should be doing it. And it wasn't until I was being called out by so many different people and mediums that it was like, okay, I got it. it just was down to my own insecurities about it. I was talking to a dear friend of mine and she said, you know, you've been able to do this since we were in high school. And it's funny that perspective. How to her, I haven't changed much. I've evolved, obviously, but she Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: sees me and never doubted my abilities since I was a teenager. So it goes to show us folks how we hold ourselves back. Susanna Massari: Yeah, Deb Snyder: Now, on that a little bit, Susanna, when you're working with Spirit now, when you're working doing a mediumship reading for people, How do you perceive that information? Clairvoyance, clairsentience, clear audience, how does that work for you? Susanna Massari: I don't put those labels on myself because Deb Snyder: Mm-hmm. Susanna Massari: I can get anything from Spirit. I mean if they want me to feel something physical, like if there were a brain aneurysm or an injury to an elbow, they can have me feel that physically. And I know the difference between what belongs to me and what their Asking me to feel and what information that they're trying to give me. I believe in keeping myself open and allowing the people in Spirit, because they have control anyway. It's not my reading, it's theirs. And I have to get completely out of the way. And for me to enable them to have the information come through cleanly and clearly. I feel like me personally, other mediums may not work this way. I accept everything that they want to give to me. So I don't even use labels. I Deb Snyder: Mm-hmm. Susanna Massari: can sometimes hear things. they give me visions. They that runs like a movie, or they give me pictures, they give me mostly feelings and visions, and on occasion. And I don't have any control over this, I conscious channel, which means that this person receiving the reading may have a guide or someone in their family who wants to deliver the information directly to them. Then I it feels differently when this happens. And I can feel it usually my guide or their guide. Their guide would be standing straight in front of me. My guide would be standing directly behind me. And that information comes through. I just move out of the way. I'm totally conscious of what's going on, but the information, I'm just saying it as I'm receiving it without any kind of interpretation that we usually do as mediums. And so that occasionally happens. I have no control over that. I've had many, many experiences where I've gone out in public after a reading and I've had some kind of extraordinary experience. I allow my energy and the energy of the people that come through to dissipate and end. I'm not going to say close, I'm just going to say end. naturally and organically. So I don't do anything to okay, I'm done, I'm shutting off. Because I'm still open and I'm open to other experiences. And so I'm not afraid of having other experiences. I'm Deb Snyder: That's fascinating. Reading your website, you also do work with past lives. How does that come about for someone during a reading? is it something that will also come to your awareness that that needs to be discussed for their healing? Susanna Massari: It comes when they need to have that information. it's not like a faucet I can turn on and off for a person during a reading and tell them what their past lives have been. The information comes through if they need it at this moment in time that they're getting the reading and how it might help them understand what's going on in their present life. Deb Snyder: And you're aware that it's their past life that's coming through. So you're able Susanna Massari: yes. Deb Snyder: to distinguish that for them. Susanna Massari: I emotionally connect with that experience. Yes. Deb Snyder: Now tell us why you believe discernment is crucial in spiritual development. Susanna Massari: The one downfall of people doing spiritual work is their ego. You have to be out of the way. You just have to be. You have to be taking care of your own stuff. You have to be doing a lot of inner work. The most important thing is, is there's no ego in this work. when doing any psychic or mediumship or channeling, you must get out of the way. That takes a long time. It took me years. To be able to get out of the way completely. And I still, at times during a reading, will take a moment, center myself, and make sure that I'm still out of the way. It's imperative. I'm a very healthy skeptic, especially in this field. I question everything. And if I start giving any kind of flowery information, I just won't have it, It's not to me genuine. It's not all love and light. Sometimes the information that comes through can be painful, but the person that's receiving the reading needs that information at this point in their life. If they tell me they don't want to, then I have to respect that. If someone comes through and they say send them back, I don't want to hear from them. I'll say, are you sure because this might help you? No. I have to respect that. Deb Snyder: I was having a conversation with someone recently about this topic and taking the same tact that you're taking, that it isn't all love and light, in the sense Susanna Massari: Yeah. Deb Snyder: that look at our own lives. They're not just made of fluff. we go through Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: very, very challenging things and oftentimes have unresolved issues with people who are departed. so it that's another sense of validation. And evidence when someone comes back through and can acknowledge, yeah, I was an ass in life and I caused a lot of pain. yeah, that that's him, all right. that's the truth. Susanna Massari: Yes Yes Yeah Deb Snyder: so not to shy away when we do, when we are shown as mediums, the difficult things or the difficult feelings, because that is where the the healing exists. Also, the fact that we need as sitters to realize that there was more to any one person than their relationship with us. So when Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: we're given information, take it in and hope to be able to validate it. but it we don't always know the nuances of every person. Susanna Massari: No, Deb Snyder: we can really learn that. And then you talk to cousin Joe who's like, yeah, let me tell you that story. And we get to know, we get to realize the full aspect of someone. now, since we are this show does go out to a lot of people who are interested in doing mediumship as a calling, as a profession, what piece of advice would you give someone who's just beginning Their development as a medium. Susanna Massari: Mediums who are in this work, who do it professionally, who do not do it professionally. But have been doing it all of their lives, they were born into it. They were born to be this way, just like an athlete, a writer, an artist. We were born to do this. It was in our life design. Now everyone has the ability to feel energy, to feel our deceased loved ones around us. And If you want to develop, you should develop. take classes, whatever you need to take. I don't subscribe to certifications because certifications don't really mean anything. You're just paying for someone's name. If you are an authentic medium, you have been having experiences all your life. But it's also important that people If they have some kind of talent, ability, and they want to do this, I encourage people always to take classes, read, do whatever you need to do to develop yourself. You may not get as far as someone who was born into it, but who knows, you may be preparing yourself for your next life where you are a medium that's born into it. we never know what our journey is. Deb Snyder: a I never want people to feel that there is any kind of barrier to development that has anything to do with money. if you cannot afford a class for this level certification, don't worry. Don't fret. Go to the library, the knowledge is free do a deep dive in YouTube to see things demonstrated. this type of work is available to anyone, Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: and price should never be a barrier. never fear that you're not gonna be good if you don't get, as she was saying, XYZ certification. if that's meant to be, it will come to pass if that's what you want to focus on. allow yourself to follow your own natural callings to decide what's good for you. Susanna, we often hear this time of year, we're recording this. This is in October. We hear about the thinning of the veil this time of year. What do you think about that? Susanna Massari: I don't. think in terms of dimensions. Everything is in dimensions. when we die, it's like from going from one room into another You're going from one dimension right into another. without your physical body, you're just Organizing your consciousness. I have never seen any kind of veil, anything like that. I have, when I've been sitting with people who are dying, I don't ever see anyone floating out of their body, coming out of their crown chakra, anything like that. They're in their body, then they're out of their body. And there's some people that I've sat with who are dying that. Practice. As they're in the dying transition, they practice and get out of your body, into their body, out of their body, into their body. And they go in and out, in and out, in and out. Deb Snyder: that makes a lot of sense when my dad was in hospice. I experienced that spending time with him. Susanna, we're gonna have Susanna back in the future to talk about this particular subject at great length, but we're just gonna touch on it really briefly right now. You are an end of life doula. please explain to us what that is and what is a shared death experience. Susanna Massari: A doula, a death doula, end of life doula is the opposite of a birth doula. It is a person who accompanies the dying, helps the family, helps everyone included in the circle of the person who is who is dying to prepare. So we have everything that we need to help the family, help the The person who is terminally ill to get all of their paperwork in order, to be of emotional support, to be an advocate for the dying person. That's our major role: to be an advocate for the dying person. And it's a very ancient. tradition Deb Snyder: how does that coordinate being a medium and being a death doula at the same time? Susanna Massari: being a doula was also a calling and I feel very comfortable sitting with the dying. I see the death process as something that's extraordinarily beautiful. being on one side, as a medium and having Spirit come through, and then being on this side and sitting with someone who is in their death transition, that I can sense their relatives being around them or who is waiting for them. a shared death experience, is when someone and and you don't have to be next to the person. when at the moment of their death you feel it or you see an apparition or you have a dream that correlates with the same time and a visitation. So there's a lot of different definitions of a shared death. If anyone wants to know more about it, they can visit the shared death project. Just look them up on the internet. And so briefly that's what it is. is that you experience some portion of that person's death. Deb Snyder: it always fascinates me when when I read about those type of experiences, whether it be parent and child or twins how they can know. And Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: but it has happened with people that are distant friends or even distant cousins, and they'll, you know, Susanna Massari: Yes. Deb Snyder: they'll wake up and feel that person in their room with them. it's fascinating, Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: I'm glad science and research is really catching up. With some of these experiences and Susanna Massari: Mm-hmm. Deb Snyder: think of all that we've learned over the past 50 or 60 years and all we have left now that we're getting out of the way of the research itself and just letting it really unfold. It is truly, truly fascinating. Now, tell us, you you mentioned Tom, and of course, Tom, your husband was on as a guest recently. what's it like working with Tom and Abram? Susanna Massari: Abram's a pleasure. Deb Snyder: Ha ha ha. Susanna Massari: Tom is a fiery Italian. Deb Snyder: Hmm. Susanna Massari: But he's lovable. he's probably one of the most ethical and person that I've ever met and has a high degree of integrity. our story, I don't know if he told you our backstory, but we've known each other and like I mentioned back in the 70s. And then then we were separated for 35 years, and then I found him on the internet. So we've been together again for 18 years. Abram has been my friend and mentor and has helped me evolve tremendously. Because when I have experiences that I can't explain that are new to me, which seem really far out. I always check in with him. Did I get this right? Because especially when I got the when I had the two people that I was giving origin information to, and they were in a totally different galaxy. There was no name. All I felt was their energy and that they were very, very, very, very far off. Abram had validated that for me, and he said that they were so evolved that they don't use names or any kind of labels, that they're just pure energy. And so he's been my sounding board and has taught me a lot about energy and life and our consciousness. And so I've been very lucky, you know. Deb Snyder: That's what I think is amazing about a channel is that you can like yourself go to Abram with a question and then after when Tom comes back, he's he doesn't know the answer to the question in the sense that you couldn't ask Tom that question or he wouldn't be able to give you that answer. that that to me helps validate all of that work. It's Susanna Massari: Yeah. And he doesn't remember what he channels. Deb Snyder: Right, right. that's what's so interesting. So Susanna Massari: He has to listen to things back. He has to listen to sessions back that we've done together or that when we do a private and I have questions about our dog or what's going on in our grandchildren's lives or anything like that, he doesn't until we listen back to it. Deb Snyder: It's fascinating. Must make for a very interesting life. Susanna Massari: I'm living my dream. It's really Deb Snyder: that's wonderful. Not many people can say that. Now, Susanna, before we wrap up, as you know, we end every episode of Rare Medium with our Rare Mediums 10QQ, our 10 quick questions. Are you ready for your 10QQ? Susanna Massari: Let's go. Deb Snyder: All right. Do you believe in the afterlife? Susanna Massari: Absolutely. Deb Snyder: What was your age in the best year of your life so far? Susanna Massari: Seventy five this past year and I'm moving into seventy six. Deb Snyder: Good for you. Good for you. Who's your favorite musical artist? Susanna Massari: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Janice Joplin Deb Snyder: Where would you most like to travel? Susanna Massari: England, Italy, Africa. Scotland. Deb Snyder: Mm-hmm. Who's inspired you the most? Susanna Massari: Hmm. My mom, Abram, and John Edward. Deb Snyder: If you could have an entirely different profession, what would it be? Susanna Massari: I would be a hospice doctor who was also a medium, death researcher and speaker. Deb Snyder: Fascinating. What are you grateful for? Susanna Massari: I'm grateful for my life, my husband, my son, my grandchildren, all of the animals that have been companions to me. And you. Deb Snyder: Thank you. Do you love yourself? And we look forward to you coming back on and diving deeper into your work as a Death Dula. Susanna Massari: Thank you so much. I'm so honored to be here with you. Thank you again. Deb Snyder: Thank you. Pepe Halloween 5 Minutes Framed Lit: My experiences with dead people started when I was twenty four years old and it started with my grandfather, Pepe. One night I had a dream and Pepe came to me in that dream. And when I woke up, I just knew he had died. And there wasn't anything scary about it, and I wasn't confused or upset. It was just incredibly matter of fact. And Jeff and I had just started dating at the time and I woke him up and said my gosh, my grandfather just died. And he was like, No, no, it was just a bad dream. And I was like, No, he died. And the next day my mother called me and said, I have some news for you. And I said, I already know Pepe died. And that was the beginning. And a few years later, Jeff and I woke up in the middle of the night to this incredibly loud banging on our bedroom floor. Bang, bang, bang. It sounded like somebody was in the basement, banging something from below. And so naturally I sent Jeff down to the basement to get the bad guy. And he checked everything and there was nothing. It wasn't a sump pump. It wasn't an animal. It wasn't anything. And then suddenly I realized what day it was. It's Halloween. And I was like, maybe it's a ghost. I was like, maybe it's Pepe. And all of this was very comforting to Jeff, let me tell you. But it made perfect sense to me. Pepe loved Halloween, and even at Pepe's funeral, there was a picture of him at Halloween. He was a jokester, he was a trickster, and he just loved Halloween. So I just go about my morning thinking, like, how cool Pepe came to visit me. And at the time I was a nanny for my sister's children. So I get to her house and I'm telling her all about it, this visit from Pepe. She's looking at me like I'm insane. And what do you mean Pepe visited you? what does that mean? what did he want? And I was like, nothing. He just came to say hi. It's Halloween. He loved Halloween. And when I left her house that day, November 1st, I was hit by a truck. And there was just this loud, loud, crashing noise and then deafening quiet. And when everything stopped, the truck was basically at my shoulder, came through the passenger side of my car, totally destroyed it. and pushed me into another car and I was in the only spot in the car that I was totally protected and that was left untouched. So I, you know, walked away with some bumps and bruises, but was totally fine. And so when my sisters came to the emergency room, suddenly nobody's wondering why Pepe came to visit me any longer. We just knew that he was there for protection. And so from then on, Halloween just became this recurring thing for Pepe and I. And years later, another story, years later when I got pregnant with my son and they gave me a due date of late October, I immediately said I knew, Finn will be here on Halloween. And when Finn was born, he had seizures and went into a coma for A handful of days we were at the NICU going through this absolutely terrifying experience. But underneath it all, underneath all of the fear and uncertainty, there was this deep knowing. It wasn't even faith, it was knowing that he would be here on Halloween. And lo and behold, on October 31st, Finn woke up. So for years, we always considered Halloween to be his rebirth day. And then, as time goes on, Finn's a toddler, and we would walk into his room and he'd be talking to somebody. And there's one specific night that he's staring into the distance, and he's at an age where he's not even speaking full sentences, and he said, Pepe, help you here. And I was like, You know Pepe? And again, he says, Pepe help you here. Finn had never met Pepe. Finn had Pepe had been dead for years, and as far as I knew, he never even really had seen a picture or heard us talk about him. Pepe wasn't even my blood grandfather, but apparently he knew Pepe. And that was almost 30 years ago, and Halloween still feels like that wink between Pepe and me. I don't even need to know exactly what any of this means anymore. I just knew that all of these dead people experiences started happening from that and kept happening because I was open. And that's the thing. Everybody asks me, like, how do you, how do you have these experiences happen to you? And it's pretty much this. Like, I'm open. And when they happen, I don't doubt it. And I say like, hi, what do you want? Like, let's play. Come back. Come visit. And thank you. Try it. Deb Snyder: This has been Rare Medium with Deb Snyder.
