- 0:00The most successful people are the ones who are just crazy.
- 0:04Yeah, do Lulu as hell. Yes, for sure are just crazy.
- 0:07Let me ask my publicist real quick, have I said anything
- 0:09cancelable or are we chilling? No, you've said things that are
- 0:12really authentic and interesting.
- 0:14Yes, authentic and interesting things only.
- 0:31Hello Power Lulu's and welcome back to Delulu with Ryan Liu.
- 0:35Today we are joined by the elusive multifaceted artist,
- 0:39fashion designer, writer, actress.
- 0:42Why don't you do you do everything?
- 0:44Why are you so shocked? Damn, I wasn't expecting that
- 0:46intro. Really.
- 0:47I mean, that's like kind of the. Rest to hold up to.
- 0:50Really. Yeah, I mean.
- 0:53You do it all. Talk about your resume.
- 0:56We are delulu with Ryan Luke, the podcaster, the entertainer,
- 0:59The speaker, the legend, The zed.
- 1:02Fuck lover girl. Lover Girl.
- 1:05Thank you, thank you. Love that.
- 1:07That's my resume as well. And you're the only person who
- 1:09can actually be rejected from an audition at American Idol and
- 1:12probably come out with better PR and press from it than the
- 1:15winner. Do you agree?
- 1:17I would say. Name Name a recent American Idol
- 1:20winner. Wow, this is bad.
- 1:26It's OK, but that's the point. It's OK.
- 1:28You got better press from going in American Island.
- 1:30I definitely want to talk about that too.
- 1:32But welcome Sophie Powers. Your name is like, so superhero.
- 1:37Should I change my name? No, I love your name.
- 1:39Really. Ryan Liu.
- 1:40Yes. What do you like about it?
- 1:43I I love how it ties into your branding, Delulu.
- 1:46I know, isn't that super lucky? With Ryan Liu, yes, I used.
- 1:49To hate my name so much growing up because I was like.
- 1:53Me too because my mom's last name is actually Powers and my
- 1:56mom and my grandma are like my superheroes so that's why I use
- 2:01Powers. It's like they are like the
- 2:04people I look up to most. I I look up to my dad a lot too,
- 2:07but his last name was just a lot longer and it wasn't as cool.
- 2:13No, Sophie Powers is like appropriate and fit and like
- 2:16perfect. I love it.
- 2:18Thank you. Wait, yeah, it's so good.
- 2:20Wait. TTTT OK, so I met Sophie at
- 2:23previous Delulu alum guest Grant Kanoki's birthday party a month
- 2:28ago today, the 23rd. We're shooting this on September
- 2:3323rd. Isn't that crazy?
- 2:35That is really odd. And you just got back from Korea
- 2:38like I think that day. Yes, I was.
- 2:40Actually it was the day before, but because the time changed it
- 2:43was same day for me. Oh my God, you're like mad jet
- 2:45lagged. I was so jet lagged, but I
- 2:47actually was told about your podcast already because of
- 2:50Bonnie McKee. No way did she tell you.
- 2:52Yeah, she well, I see her post. So I had seen your podcast
- 2:55before. Wait, TI didn't know that?
- 2:58Yes, so when when you mentioned that it like did ring a bell and
- 3:02then that's why I also like I'm super excited about today.
- 3:05So thanks for having me on. Well, Oh my God, thank you so
- 3:07much for being here. Like I'm so excited to talk to
- 3:09you. I was doing so much research
- 3:10into you. And the more research I did, I
- 3:12was like, wait, I have so much I want to get into with you.
- 3:15Just with your artistry, your music, everything about you.
- 3:17You're so interesting. OK.
- 3:19You're super fun and Victoria spoken so highly of you for like
- 3:22the past month. Thank you, Vic.
- 3:26So. That got you.
- 3:27So I'm super excited that you're here, but that was you barely
- 3:30stayed at that birthday party and there for.
- 3:33Like an hour I was there. I actually do that like at every
- 3:37party I go to. I you will not catch me
- 3:39somewhere for like more than an hour now.
- 3:40Really. Why?
- 3:42I love partying but like if I'm going to go out I'm going to
- 3:44like 4 things in one night. Oh shit.
- 3:47I can't go somewhere and stay there for like 4 hours.
- 3:50I'm. 280D. No, because also it's like if
- 3:53I'm getting ready and I'm putting on a bomb outfit, I want
- 3:56more than one party to see me. So like, I got to like show up
- 3:59and show out at all the different spots, you know?
- 4:01OK, totally. I'm going to start doing that.
- 4:03Yeah, because I'm committed. Like if I go somewhere, I'm
- 4:05like, I intend to stay there in the entire night, but I'm also
- 4:08intending to like, I'm not trying to go anywhere.
- 4:10You know what? I.
- 4:11Mean, yeah, well, I also just don't drink.
- 4:14Oh yeah, or. Like.
- 4:15Totally. Smoke or vape I don't care if
- 4:17you do at all like all my friends do have the time when
- 4:20I'm out I'm like like I'm never the mom of the group.
- 4:23I will not be driving you home. Sorry I'm probably drive just as
- 4:26bad as a drunk driver but I will be the one who is like still
- 4:32having fun and dancing regardless of wait.
- 4:35I love that I'm not like other girls.
- 4:37I mean, you're not like other artists, you literally.
- 4:39That sounded so pick me. No, that's so funny.
- 4:41You literally told someone right here you're like, I'm not like
- 4:44other artists. Like I'm not difficult.
- 4:46No, I was saying that as a joke, though.
- 4:48I'm like, I'm not extremely difficult, but I am difficult.
- 4:51And my father says like, no, she's not.
- 4:54She's not. I'm like, Tristan, it's OK.
- 4:56I mean, that's why she's getting paid, right?
- 4:59OK. My team, Am I difficult?
- 5:05Those are enthusiastic. Can we, can we like what else,
- 5:07Brett? What's good about me?
- 5:10So easy to work with. Yes, so easy to work with.
- 5:14Like yes, not intense. What's your son?
- 5:19Oh, do you want to guess? I feel like you're a Capricorn.
- 5:23No, but I love that. I love Capricorn.
- 5:25What are you? I'm a Virgo, so you're kind of
- 5:27close. Earth signs.
- 5:28OK, you're just like extra as fuck.
- 5:30I'm just like, I like my thing is like, I definitely am aware
- 5:35of this. I take myself way too seriously
- 5:38and I think it translates in everything I do, you know?
- 5:41I think it's good to take yourself both extremely,
- 5:44extremely seriously. Yeah, and also not serious at
- 5:46all. Like it's a balance.
- 5:48Yeah, 'cause I like being like silly, silly.
- 5:49But the same time it's just like when it comes to like my
- 5:51projects and my work, I'm like so serious.
- 5:54I'm like super locked in about it.
- 5:55That's good. I can tell it.
- 5:56It shows. Really.
- 5:57Thank you for like taking the time to, yeah, to research and
- 6:00have like a run of show and questions in advance.
- 6:03I don't know, maybe I don't know been a podcast enough, but it's
- 6:06really professional and well. Done Delulu is not like other
- 6:09podcasts. It's not like other podcasts,
- 6:11clearly. OK, so we're on the right show.
- 6:13Yes, we are on the right show. Well, I want to get into
- 6:16everything Sophie Powers, but we need to start with who is Sophie
- 6:20Powers? Like you do so many things, you
- 6:22wear so many hats, you have so many talents.
- 6:23Like how would you define yourself?
- 6:25And you're such a visual artist. You have such a defined presence
- 6:28image like who's Sophie Powers to you.
- 6:32Honestly, I think Sophie Powers is everything is like really me
- 6:40at my core. Like I want to be Sophie Powers
- 6:42is me more. Oh, you want to be Sophie?
- 6:43Powers. Hell yeah.
- 6:44You're so cool. You're so nonchalant.
- 6:47I I, I think Sophie Powers is like some just some girl who
- 6:53happens to be existing and like wants to encourage people to
- 6:57express themselves. I feel like that's exactly what
- 6:59you do, and you do it so seamlessly.
- 7:00It's so natural to you too. Oh, thank you.
- 7:04I mean, that's kind of always a goal.
- 7:06I spent so many years repressing myself and who I truly am.
- 7:09So that's why at this point I'm just like, I have nothing left
- 7:12to lose bro. Wait, why do you feel like
- 7:14you're repressing yourself? Well, I had a really, really
- 7:18hard time growing up. I'm not going to like trauma
- 7:20dump but I went. You're welcome to.
- 7:22I went to like 6 different schools from like, and then I
- 7:26dropped out of high school. Yeah.
- 7:28Because like bullying and also just like how like you know, you
- 7:34want to fit in. Obviously everyone does school.
- 7:37So like dressing like other people or like not in the way
- 7:40that you want to present yourself or like repressing your
- 7:42sexuality or other just means of you at your core.
- 7:47So for me, that's why I value art so much, because like, I
- 7:53truly would not like be here without art and music and
- 7:57fashion and like being able to like be myself.
- 8:00I feel like you use every medium at your disposal to express
- 8:05yourself, which I think is super cool because you have such a
- 8:07defined style and your music is so defined too.
- 8:10Thank you. Yeah, I mean, I'm always, I'm
- 8:12trying to be like a tastemaker and.
- 8:14Oh my God, that's the word. I wish I put that in the intro
- 8:16for you. Well.
- 8:18Thank you. I'm always trying to be that and
- 8:20honestly I used to get so offended if people would copy
- 8:23me, but now that's like the biggest compliment.
- 8:26How do you feel about that? I hate when people copy me.
- 8:29Yeah, I I actually hate it so much in my core because I feel
- 8:31like to me it's like I feel original AF and I feel like I
- 8:35just feel like everything I do is like it comes from what I
- 8:37think is my mind and maybe it's not and maybe I like got
- 8:40inspired somewhere or whatever. I mean I have no problem like
- 8:42citing inspirations either, but I just feel like when I'm
- 8:45creating, I feel like this is what I think is authentic to me
- 8:50or whatever. I hate when people copy me and I
- 8:52hate when they're blatantly copying me too.
- 8:54I think I used to be that way and then I realized that it's
- 8:59actually a form of honor in your art, in your creativity and your
- 9:04authenticity. And I've had like major artists,
- 9:08like absolutely, like artists way bigger than me, like copy,
- 9:11like my concepts, my outfits, the styling, the set design,
- 9:15whatever it may be. And you just have to sit back
- 9:18and be like, wow, someone like of that stature, caliber, it's
- 9:23like cares what I'm doing. Wait that's such a good
- 9:26perspective. Oh my God I would be so fucking.
- 9:30Pissed. Well, I mean, yeah, but.
- 9:32What can you do about it, right? You can't do anything.
- 9:35It's a waste of energy. No, because honestly, it's still
- 9:39like they're still not me. They're still not so be powers
- 9:42that's. What, they're never going to be
- 9:46able to do what you're doing next either, Yeah.
- 9:48It's coming from you. Absolutely.
- 9:51What's next for Ryan Liu? Okay, Delulu with Sophie Powers.
- 9:55What's next for Ryan Liu? We're working on this show, I
- 9:58guess. What other projects do I have
- 10:00coming up? What am I working on?
- 10:01Everyone, do we know? OK, I'm launching, I guess we're
- 10:07going deeper into my merch. Like I think that the Lulu
- 10:10brand, I want it to be a world versus just like merch for the
- 10:15show. Like I want it to be a world.
- 10:16Like I'm showing the pictures we shot.
- 10:18I want to create something bigger than that.
- 10:19And I know you're super into fashion too.
- 10:21We'll do Sophie powers X to Lulu.
- 10:23We'll see. I'll talk to Tristan.
- 10:25For the world, you should do something just like literally
- 10:29looking at you right now. These are like 2 concepts that
- 10:33I'm getting from the Delulu show.
- 10:35And by the way, this is not me like intruding, just fireballing
- 10:39please. I guess synesthesia and right
- 10:43now I'm seeing a lot of like gold.
- 10:45I think you should experiment with a coquette gold theme
- 10:48because I haven't seen anything that's coquette and soft core
- 10:51but also including like sparkles.
- 10:54Wait, I love that. So I think you could play around
- 10:56with frills and more like elusive textures that feel like
- 11:01good on the skin on the inside, but then look like almost
- 11:04transparent on the outside. I think you should also explore
- 11:07actual like teddy bears and like like literal build-a-bear dolls
- 11:11like with T-shirts that are like funny.
- 11:14I like yeah, wait, wow, you literally have it.
- 11:16Like why aren't you? I think you should.
- 11:19Sell. I think you should also sell
- 11:20charms with like keys like gold. Keys.
- 11:23Like and then someone, I don't know, maybe when people get one
- 11:26they get a key to an unreleased episode like with the purchase.
- 11:30Fuck, I love that. And you know, that's what I love
- 11:31about you too. In general, it's just like the
- 11:34world building you do 'cause I think I want to take it so much
- 11:36deeper than just like, it's just a podcast.
- 11:39There's just a project I'm working on.
- 11:40It's like I want to immerse people into my world and even
- 11:43talking to you right now, this is like my world and I want I'm
- 11:47happy you're here. By the way, thank you for being
- 11:49a part of the Lulu. Oh, I mean, that's just a random
- 11:51idea I had. For you.
- 11:52No, I love that. I love world.
- 11:53Building, we have so many shoots coming up too.
- 11:55You're always welcome to stop by enjoying and like if you want
- 11:57to, whatever you want. To do I would love to also just
- 11:59see the behind the scenes because yeah, come through.
- 12:02I've also been like releasing merchant.
- 12:05I'm, I'm so hesitant to do that because if I can't, like I have
- 12:09a hard time with the fact of not being able to do my cut and sew
- 12:13design. So like I design and selling
- 12:15that because I can't sell that. It'll cost like $2000.
- 12:19I'm not going to charge people that.
- 12:21It's just unrealistic. So I'm doing merch for now
- 12:26slowly also to help me like offset costs and like to world
- 12:31build, you know like. You said so.
- 12:32Besties, please buy the Dululu merch, please.
- 12:37It really makes a giant difference for creating what we
- 12:40can give you. No, I love that.
- 12:42I'm actually going to go with that.
- 12:43Victoria, would you wear cock at Little Frillies?
- 12:46We're doing it. I don't know, I just feel like
- 12:49everyone will eat it up. But I'm sorry, I know you have a
- 12:53list of notes and I'm getting super sidetracked.
- 12:55Oh my God no. I honestly I much prefer just to
- 12:57chitchat. So like, honestly love all of
- 12:59it. Yes.
- 13:00OK, don't feel like this is strict at all.
- 13:02No, I just I was really impressed even just looking on
- 13:06Trish's phone then and like even the call sheets and back and
- 13:08forth. I'm again, sorry, I I feel bad.
- 13:11I've like cancelled on the dude but.
- 13:13No, it's like. I'm not like a horrible guest
- 13:15where I'm like, don't show up and.
- 13:18Don't, no. I'm genuinely so happy you're
- 13:20here. Like my entire team and I have
- 13:21been talking about it like all month.
- 13:22We're really excited. They genuinely, I was talking
- 13:24about a Victoria yesterday. Like we're so excited.
- 13:28Thank you and we love your music and we're going to get into all
- 13:30of it. But like genuinely from the
- 13:31bottom of my heart, like I'm so happy that you're here.
- 13:33Like it's just cool to also get to know each other and chitchat
- 13:35because I. Know I feel like I'm not even on
- 13:38a podcast right now, even though the power puffs and what's your
- 13:40fan? The the the delulus, the
- 13:42delulus, the delulus or the lulus, delulus, the delulus, the
- 13:47power puffs and the delulus are watching.
- 13:49So what's up? Thank you guys so much for
- 13:50watching. Sorry, I've been in.
- 13:55I've been spending too much time in South Korea this year.
- 13:57I keep like. Is that what I mean?
- 13:59These. Poses So guys, we watching the
- 14:00video version of the show. I just did a little little hand
- 14:03thing on my face. Is that like a Korean thing?
- 14:06Oh well, it's just something that like I've seen a lot of K
- 14:08pop idols do. I'm not sure if it's actually.
- 14:11Exclusively I would trust you because you've been writing for
- 14:13a lot of K pop groups too. I actually just had a song that
- 14:17I wrote for N Mix announced today on their first album,
- 14:20which is crazy. Wait, it was announced today?
- 14:21Yeah. Oh my God, I didn't peep that.
- 14:22What was it? It's a song actually.
- 14:25I wrote it for myself and OT they ended up wanting it.
- 14:28It's called reality hearse. Oh my God, T.
- 14:31Kind of how it goes. I just like write songs for
- 14:33myself and my song gotcha that I wrote for I've.
- 14:38They just love that for their team.
- 14:40So it was like, OK, you know what?
- 14:42Like I love I've, why not? Wait, how do you part with songs
- 14:45that you write for yourself? Like you intend for it to be for
- 14:47your project, but then you end up giving it to other artists?
- 14:50Like is that something you're comfortable with 'cause like?
- 14:53It's hard, but also like, I have to be realistic with how many
- 14:58songs I think I have over 100 demos.
- 15:01I'm not even being sarcastic. Yeah, there's so many because
- 15:04I've been making music since I was 15 full time.
- 15:07I'm 21 now. Like you're not going to release
- 15:10all those songs. And that's why I'm like very
- 15:12hesitant even in saying yes to sessions these days because I, I
- 15:16hate wasting people's time. I really do.
- 15:18And also I'm super busy with just releasing the music right
- 15:21now. Totally promoting it to a little
- 15:23while, doing the visuals for it. It's a full time thing.
- 15:26Yeah, and also just writing more music.
- 15:28It's like all the things. Oh my God, absolutely.
- 15:31And I feel like you've put out a lot of music already over the
- 15:32past few years too. Yes, I have put out a lot of
- 15:37music over the last years, but also not because I like in
- 15:41between. Labels have like a seven month,
- 15:438 month gap and that's like the longest time I think I've gone
- 15:46without releasing music. I mean, you're going through a
- 15:48lot of transition at that time too.
- 15:50Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:52Which inspired move with me, which we'll we'll talk about
- 15:54too. Yeah, let's chat about it all.
- 15:56Yeah, I'm going to talk about all of it.
- 15:57I want to talk about all of it. So you're originally from Canada
- 16:00and you come out to LA at 16 completely alone, and you just
- 16:05drop out of high school. You're saying I'm going to go do
- 16:07it. Like what gave you the audacity
- 16:10to think that you can come out here and do it?
- 16:13The delulu, the. Best thing honestly yes is the
- 16:17delusion of the more delusional you are I honestly believe the
- 16:21more successful you'll be because if you don't believe in
- 16:25yourself to the point where people think you're insane, it's
- 16:27just it's you could still be very well be successful, but
- 16:31from what I've seen the most successful people are the ones
- 16:34who are just crazy. Yeah, delulu as hell.
- 16:37Yes, are just crazy, like obsessed with what they're
- 16:42doing. And I think that obsession is
- 16:45what drove me. Like my obsession with music and
- 16:47with art. I'm like, I am just so obsessed
- 16:49with this thing. I'd been working in
- 16:51entertainment since I was 10. Like I did some musical theatre,
- 16:56I did acting. I had an agent when I was super
- 16:58young and I had been making like money off of it.
- 17:01My parents knew I took it very seriously.
- 17:04I've been singing in outside of school choirs, school plays,
- 17:07theaters, like literally whatever I could and when I was
- 17:1015 I literally said to my parents like 2 weeks before
- 17:12starting school I was like I'm just not going back shit I'm
- 17:15just like I'll do online guys I I can't how?
- 17:18They react. Honestly, my mom's like a
- 17:22hippie. She was a dead head.
- 17:23So she was like, OK, so she was your thing, girl.
- 17:27Yeah. Damn.
- 17:28That girl tries to get me to, like, smoke with her.
- 17:30But I, I love my mom like we're. I'm just kidding.
- 17:34Hi, Mrs. Powers. Yes, Mrs. Mrs. Powers, my moms
- 17:38named Karen, but she's not a Karen.
- 17:39Hi. Karen, that's so crazy.
- 17:41Did she take offense to STFU? No, no, no, no.
- 17:45Shut the fuck up. I know.
- 17:46Direct quote Lyric. Literally, I'm sorry mom about
- 17:50that, but yeah, she I'm so thankful for her support and my
- 17:54dad support. He also was a musician, but he
- 17:59never got to do it like professionally.
- 18:01He wanted to his whole life but couldn't because of finances.
- 18:05He like didn't come from money, had nothing and like basically
- 18:10just wanted I guess a different life.
- 18:12So took the business accounting route and not that he's unhappy,
- 18:17but I. Mean it's a different life.
- 18:18Yeah, when I told him, like looked at I just, I want to do
- 18:21this full time, he was like, OK, like, like, you know, like I, I
- 18:28want you to be able to do what I couldn't essentially.
- 18:30I kind of love that. Which was like really full
- 18:34circle. And that's why I feel like I'm
- 18:35like proving to him. And my mom makes you emotional.
- 18:37Talk about oh. My God.
- 18:38Well, guess you absolutely are. And they're definitely so proud
- 18:40of you. I mean, look where you are now
- 18:41and like everything you've done. You're only 21.
- 18:44That's crazy. I feel like a grandma trapped
- 18:47inside a young girl's body. Kind of.
- 18:51I'm not that young though. You're not that young.
- 18:53You give me such young energy. Really.
- 18:54Why? I mean, I just feel like not
- 18:58this life coming out out of you. You're the best guest I've had.
- 19:03You're. Just a number.
- 19:05Seriously. My grandmother is my best
- 19:07friend. That woman is 86.
- 19:09She has like the mentality of maybe a 40 year old and also
- 19:16adults are just grown up kids. Yeah, I definitely, I literally
- 19:19feel like a child still. Like that's what I was thinking
- 19:21to you because I was like, I have no idea what the fuck I'm
- 19:22doing and I'm literally just winging and I'm like, oh hey.
- 19:25But you're doing amazing. Well, thank you.
- 19:27You're doing amazing. And anyone listening to this, by
- 19:30the way, you are also doing amazing.
- 19:31Keep going. You are.
- 19:33Don't stop. That's my bit of emotional
- 19:36motivational junk. Wait, that was like so beautiful
- 19:39though. Like everything in the entire
- 19:40story and like how you decided just to go do it.
- 19:42Because I feel like I love the idea of, like, having a dream
- 19:46and just going after it. And that's why I fucking love
- 19:48LA. It's just a city of creatives
- 19:50and city of people who want to make it and city of people who
- 19:52want to create something. And like, being around that
- 19:54energy for me is like everything.
- 19:56So I'm not originally from LA and I know you moved from
- 19:59Toronto to LA. Yeah.
- 20:01How's being in LA for you? In LA for me, well, first of
- 20:04all, just to say like to go and do that.
- 20:07Like I was so privileged to be able to even do that, like.
- 20:10That's a rare take I feel like. No, I was like, I was so
- 20:14privileged. I'm not going to deny that I'm,
- 20:16I'm never going to sit here and be like I came from nothing when
- 20:20I did. I grew up fine.
- 20:21But I don't care if someone's more talented than me, I'll
- 20:25outwork them. And I think that is what I like
- 20:28about LA. Like I wouldn't know that if I,
- 20:30I don't know if I had moved here, if I would have been able
- 20:34to do it right. You like, you just never know.
- 20:37Until you got here. Right until you, until I got
- 20:39here. It's a different.
- 20:40World, where are you from again? I'm originally from Orange
- 20:42County, which is about an hour South of LA, and then I lived in
- 20:46New York for a few years and then from New York I moved to LA
- 20:49to do this. It's so expensive here though,
- 20:52like. It's so expensive.
- 20:54You really have to be from hustle.
- 20:58You have to hustle like it's tough.
- 21:00You have to make money. Same thing with New York, like
- 21:02it's these two cities are beautiful and there's so many
- 21:05opportunities, but you just, you have to make money at the end of
- 21:08the day. I think a lot of people don't
- 21:10recognize how much sacrifice that their favorite entertainers
- 21:12have made to be able to get there.
- 21:14And like not even before they become like Sabrina Carpenter or
- 21:17like Billy or anything. It's like the amount of work and
- 21:20like sacrifice and intention and it is so costly to create
- 21:24something and then hope that people will resonate with it and
- 21:26see it and like it. And it's like it's a lot and
- 21:29people just don't see it. Cuz I think for me, I love being
- 21:31an entertainer and I love when people can see something from me
- 21:34and like feel like whatever with whatever they feel from it.
- 21:37But it's like the amount of work and heartbreak and blood and
- 21:40dedication and everything to get it there is crazy and it's never
- 21:43seen, you know? I just have so much respect for
- 21:46all artists because of that, and even people just chasing their
- 21:50dreams, pursuing them, doing what they can, making ends meet.
- 21:53Like, even if you're not in entertainment and you know, you
- 21:59work at like a local grocery Mart or wherever it may be, at
- 22:04the end of the day, everyone's got to eat.
- 22:06Definitely. It's it's honestly inspiring to
- 22:08me too because like right now I have like I have two artists
- 22:10living with me right now. And yeah, I know super random,
- 22:13right? Who?
- 22:16Who? Yeah.
- 22:16Oh, am I allowed to ask that or you don't have to answer?
- 22:19I mean, it's Tululu Tulu. OK, wait.
- 22:24I'm just, I'm just laughing because one of them requested I
- 22:27don't talk about them on the show.
- 22:28So I was like, oh, that's so. Funny.
- 22:29We can. We can cut it out though.
- 22:31We'll look. At that.
- 22:31But yeah, I have two artists. I have two artists living with
- 22:33me right now. Oh.
- 22:34That's awesome. Yeah, and literally watching
- 22:36them, it's just like, it's also inspiring to me because it's
- 22:38just like people really want to make it and they want to share
- 22:41their art and their music and connect.
- 22:43And that's inspiring to me because I feel like I'm in a
- 22:45different world. I feel like I'm an adjacent
- 22:48world, but not exactly there. And just watching that.
- 22:50I'm also where I am right now. I'm in a very privileged
- 22:53position where it's like, you know, I'm making money, I'm
- 22:56doing fine for myself, etcetera. Whereas versus like other people
- 22:59might be in a different position and they're trying to make it.
- 23:02And I just love watching the scope of it all and also
- 23:05believing in them and believing in just everyone who tells me
- 23:08they have a dream because nothing's crazy to me where
- 23:09people are like, oh, I want this, I want a Grammy data and
- 23:11I'm like, cool, and I'll see you there.
- 23:12That's amazing. Aww Oh yeah, it really is.
- 23:15It is like you really. I'm so driven by dreams and.
- 23:20Me too. I don't know, I feel like the
- 23:23longer I've been in LA, the more of that I've been losing
- 23:25recently. Really.
- 23:27Yeah. Which is kind of making me sad.
- 23:28Wait, let's get into it. What do you think you're losing
- 23:30that? It's just like you come here
- 23:32with such a spark in your eyes, right?
- 23:34Oh, it'll kill you, Yeah. And it just feels like, I don't
- 23:40know, life has this way of just sucking you.
- 23:47I would say life LA the industry.
- 23:50Is is a different scenario? It's such a flux and flow and it
- 23:53can be so devastating because it's just like, quite literally,
- 23:56I have no idea how much I'm going to be making next month.
- 23:58I don't know how much I'm making this month.
- 23:59Like it kind of just is all over the place.
- 24:01That's kind of like the life of, I think, a creative in general.
- 24:04But I also like, remember why I'm here and why I'm doing this
- 24:07and like, I'm thankful I can even do this, you know?
- 24:09Right. What do you think your intention
- 24:11is? My intention literally just to
- 24:13help people express themselves. Mentally.
- 24:16Physically, fashion wise, Like aesthetically, creatively, and
- 24:21that sounds broad, but it really that's just like my goal.
- 24:24That's like what's driving you. Yes.
- 24:27And I feel like that's what makes you, helps you create such
- 24:29incredible art too. Well, it just makes you feel
- 24:32less of like a shit person because then I'm like, oh, I'm
- 24:35not just doing this for myself and by the.
- 24:37Way it's completely OK if you are just doing it for yourself
- 24:40too. I mean, yeah, some of it's for
- 24:41myself because like, that's therapy, of course, but.
- 24:44I'm still an artist. But and like, I want to express
- 24:47myself and be who I am at the end of the day, I'm a person.
- 24:50But for sure, even though I act like I have no feelings like 90%
- 24:54of the time, but I guess that's just where my head's at in
- 24:58general when it comes to self-expression.
- 25:00How's how's it like for you? Like what's your creative
- 25:05process, I guess with the show and coming up with episodes?
- 25:10And I mean, I guess we can follow the structure of what you
- 25:13have, but how do you come up with that structure?
- 25:15Do you have a team or is that all you?
- 25:18Well, honestly, I would say I work with so many incredible
- 25:21talented people. Like I'm very grateful for where
- 25:24I am and my team. I think when it comes to the
- 25:26show in general too, it's like I have a lot of artists come on
- 25:30and I really want to give them the utmost dignity and respect.
- 25:33And I want to show them that I care about their art, who they
- 25:34are as an artist. Because I feel like when I watch
- 25:36other people's interviews, like I think this comes from a place
- 25:39of hubris, hubris. I don't know if I'm saying it
- 25:41right, like ego and pride where I think it's better then I like
- 25:44see other people interviewing other artists or whatever.
- 25:46Like no shade to your previous things that you've done or your
- 25:50host. Felt like, I feel like when I
- 25:52was watching, I was like, I think I could do better than
- 25:54this and I'm going to do better than this.
- 25:55Not that they were not amazing because they definitely were and
- 25:58I loved everything I watched, but I was like, I know what I
- 26:01want to ask. I know what I want to get into.
- 26:03You know what you want. Yeah, definitely, because like
- 26:05it's more than just a show to me.
- 26:06It's like I'm I want to build a world out of it and that's what
- 26:09I'm trying to do right now. And it's like obviously it's
- 26:11like a 24/7 job, but I write the show with a Co writer Cameron.
- 26:16He helped me write this episode with If You Owned.
- 26:17We're so excited to have you. And then I love my team.
- 26:20Very grateful for them, Brett, Mina and the rest.
- 26:25It seems like you have a great team around you and I'm excited
- 26:28to be here too. And I didn't mean to get all
- 26:30like sappy by the way or like bring down any vibes.
- 26:33I was just, I'm like too honest and I will always bite me in the
- 26:38ass because then people think I'm a bitch but like no
- 26:41honestly. We're also grateful for that
- 26:46cause. To be honest, I feel like I have
- 26:47such a reputation for being like such a so I, I feel like that's
- 26:52the reputation I have. I've been told so many things
- 26:54about myself where I'm just like, well.
- 26:56Well-being also like a younger person in general.
- 27:01If you gel anyone in a space who like has been in the game or has
- 27:06more technically knowledge quote quotation marks than you telling
- 27:11someone your opinion and your thoughts can come across as
- 27:13bitchy. Yeah, of course, even though
- 27:15your thoughts could be actually a more accurate and insightful
- 27:18than theirs. You spell it because the way I
- 27:20look at it, it's just like, bro, I'm just trying to create
- 27:23something. And like I feel like there are a
- 27:24lot of people feeling they're getting so much trouble for
- 27:26this. I feel like there are a lot of
- 27:27people in positions of power or funding who have a lot of say
- 27:30into it. And at the same time, it's just
- 27:32like, but you're not a creative. And I'm not saying that you're
- 27:34not a creative and like. They don't know what they're
- 27:37doing. They don't.
- 27:37I'm just like and what I want like my ideal world because
- 27:40eventually I would love to like expand on the world of emotions
- 27:42like I would do. I would love to have a record
- 27:44label like emotions records. I would love to have a
- 27:45management. I would love to have like every.
- 27:47I want to, I want to be able to like guide young creatives and
- 27:51like support them the way that I felt like I wasn't supported.
- 27:54But the way I look at it is like, I would love it if a
- 27:56creative can make their art and then just turn it into me and I
- 27:58could just market it versus like being like, no, I think this is
- 28:02more marketable. You should be this.
- 28:03I hate that and I hate being told that.
- 28:05And I hate seeing artists being told that.
- 28:07You you should not sign to a record label then my friend.
- 28:10Oh shit, OK, we're going to stay indie under we'll be under
- 28:14Emotions Records. So if you want to sign.
- 28:18Why not Delulu Records? Delulu Records.
- 28:21Oh shit, damn. Wait, I'm gonna.
- 28:23I think I'm gonna do that. Yeah, why am I?
- 28:25Let's create an empire oh because like that's my username
- 28:27like I'm emotions you know what I mean that's what I've been
- 28:29going As for the past like 5 years but like delulu is the new
- 28:33brand face image, everything I do want to make a world out of
- 28:36it like I. Don't know, it just has a ring
- 28:38to it. We're going to go with it,
- 28:39Delulu. Record emotions is cool though
- 28:41too. Thank you.
- 28:41OK, Either way, we'll we'll figure it out.
- 28:44I do love delulu though. That's where I'm investing
- 28:46everything in right now is delulu.
- 28:49Yeah, I think you should. And I think you're going to see
- 28:51your work pay off. I'm still a very hard believer
- 28:53of hard work pays off, even if it takes more time than.
- 28:56I mean, it's, it just has to be true.
- 28:57And if you like, for me, it's like it is just putting in the
- 29:00work and making sure everything is intentional too, you know?
- 29:03Yeah, definitely. Damn, this has been
- 29:07introspective. Should.
- 29:09We change the topic to something like more light, I don't know.
- 29:12Sure. Let's go into the personas that
- 29:14you have with your music. OK, So you have different
- 29:17personas when you're recording your music, and this is
- 29:20something that you did when you were doing your Glitch EP, but
- 29:23we're moving into New Era, so I have so many different
- 29:25questions. I want to talk about your
- 29:26personas and who these personas are with the new music that
- 29:29you've been putting out. Can I be honest with you?
- 29:32Spill. I kind of dropped the personas.
- 29:35Oh my God, they're done. Because.
- 29:37I'm just Sophie Powers. Shit, I love that.
- 29:39Why am I trying to be all of these other versions of myself?
- 29:42Why do you think you were doing it before?
- 29:45Because it was helping me compartmentalize all of my
- 29:49different capabilities and skill sets.
- 29:52But you can be everything. Exactly I want to do it.
- 29:55All. And that's my problem.
- 29:57RIP Newt Miley. I can, I can still do all of
- 30:00those characters, but I already know like those are in the bag.
- 30:03Like those are different voices and characters that I still
- 30:06have. But at the end of the day, it's
- 30:08all me. Even pixel girl like that's
- 30:09still me. It's all you, yeah.
- 30:11Do you feel like with Pixel Girl, like you said, the
- 30:13intention of that one was that you want to be taken seriously
- 30:15as an artist, as a writer, but Pixel Corey can be a little more
- 30:18silly, a little less serious. Do you feel like that's just a
- 30:21facet that you're just going to absorb into Sylvie powers in
- 30:23general as well? No, I actually think those,
- 30:27well, it already is kind of self absorbed because people know
- 30:30it's me. I'm not hiding my face.
- 30:32It's literally just me with a Band-Aid and a wig.
- 30:34But I will say that it speaks to my journey of wanting to
- 30:41encourage others to express themselves, whether that's
- 30:43serious or funny or not serious or intense.
- 30:48I think people view art as very two-dimensional as oh, they're
- 30:54like a serious artist or oh, they're like a meme artist.
- 30:57Like this person, like makes like pop fun songs.
- 31:00It's like, it's not that one-dimensional, honestly.
- 31:03Like, yeah, so I, I just wanted also a safe space to like make
- 31:09whatever I wanted to and like not have to answer anyone or be
- 31:14judged or answer to the public. It's just like I just don't care
- 31:21if this is a song and it's kind of low lift in the sense that
- 31:25obviously it's like still methodical and process like
- 31:28thought out and I'm writing the lyrics right.
- 31:31But it's not hitting that like deep introspective.
- 31:40Like it it's taken me five years to release the song that I'm
- 31:43like releasing next month. Five years of rewriting on one
- 31:47song. I'm not doing that for Pixel
- 31:49Girl. I just want to make art and not
- 31:51think of it. And I just want to draw, pick up
- 31:54the paper, pick up the pen, not let go of the pencil, finish the
- 31:59piece, and then drop everything at once.
- 32:01It's like an artistic exercise. No, that's awesome though,
- 32:04because like for me, I'm so precious with my work.
- 32:06Like I will hold on to things for such a long time and I'll
- 32:08like hold off and releasing things just because I feel like
- 32:11I also wanted to do well and I wanted to have its life.
- 32:13And I just feel like, especially with this day and age when it
- 32:15comes to content, content creation, when it comes to
- 32:17artists, like people are just like throwing things out so
- 32:20frequently and I want everything to have its moment.
- 32:23Yeah, there's so much. There's so much being put into
- 32:25the world every day. It's actually amazing though.
- 32:29But it's also like, think about it this way.
- 32:30There are over 100,000 songs that go up on Spotify per day.
- 32:33That's crazy. Per day, per day, just.
- 32:36Spotify. Imagine now all the other
- 32:37streaming platforms. A new song came out today by
- 32:41Lily Is That You on Spotify. Queen Victoria produced it.
- 32:45Oh, really? It's.
- 32:47Actually, Friday. Oh well, I got the wrong
- 32:49information yesterday. It's coming out on Friday and
- 32:52we're all streaming. We will be streaming myself.
- 32:55Muddy comes out Friday as well. Oh my God, Muddy looks so
- 32:58sickening. Thank you.
- 32:59You have such. Like the videos and the visuals
- 33:01and everything you do. Like, this is literally a
- 33:03segment in the show. I want to talk about your
- 33:05visuals. But like, they're so intentional
- 33:08and they're so like, well thought out.
- 33:09Like, can we talk about Muddy's visuals?
- 33:12Of course I wanted the music video and thank you.
- 33:14By the way, I wanted the music video to contrast light and
- 33:17dark. So if there's like this silk
- 33:21white, almost ethereal setting combined with this more literal
- 33:26grit, concrete and then mud setting.
- 33:31But it's like all intentional like I when I actually like
- 33:36shadow to Logan Rice because we Co directed it.
- 33:39But like the treatment that I created for Logan and like
- 33:45creating like location reference images to the best of my
- 33:49abilities on Photoshop to the styling and the makeup and hair
- 33:53and like the art direction in that sense.
- 33:55Like I am pulling all I'm reaching out to independent
- 34:00designers on Instagram. Like I know exactly what styles
- 34:03I want to work with. I'm creating like the mood
- 34:05boards of what exactly I want to wear, like references for
- 34:08pieces, sketching them out. So I didn't specifically design
- 34:12anything for that video, but it's still very much like hands
- 34:15on like I. Mean it sounds like top to
- 34:17bottom. It's like really intense too.
- 34:19I'm sitting with the editor for four hours on a call, like going
- 34:23through each cut. I'm like this colorist.
- 34:26I want this colorist, I need this editor, I need this DP.
- 34:29Like obviously it's collaborative like effort.
- 34:31I'm not just like of course steamrolling everyone, but I
- 34:35really know what I want in terms of my artistic vision.
- 34:38And for that song I have put like my whole like.
- 34:43I mean, it looks like it's such a.
- 34:44Budget what it. Looks like it's such a budget.
- 34:48I did not. I'm an independent artist.
- 34:50That's crazy. I'm covering like 7 different
- 34:52people's roles just to like reduce budget half the time.
- 34:55Oh my God, it's so sickening. Thank you.
- 34:57It comes out really good. I actually think like looking at
- 35:00it and thinking like Oh my God, this must have been so crazy
- 35:02expensive. No for to look at quality.
- 35:04I actually like that. And that's the thing.
- 35:06I'm so thankful that like, I have creatives who are also just
- 35:11so willing and down to like, just make something cool.
- 35:16I fucking love that and like. Input their creative vision and
- 35:19I love I love working with people who aren't afraid to tell
- 35:22me no because otherwise I'm just going to do what I.
- 35:25I want no, literally I was just telling my team where I was
- 35:28like, I can't work with yes men because like yes, then that's
- 35:31where it gets. Really.
- 35:32Money. No, Yes.
- 35:37Well, yes. No, no, no, actually, no.
- 35:39Actually, no. Actually no.
- 35:40OK, Period. Right.
- 35:41OK, same page. Yes, wait, no, damn it.
- 35:46You know what I mean though. But I I actually enjoyed that
- 35:50creative process. It was one of the funnest videos
- 35:52I shot. I'm really excited.
- 35:54I directed, I creative directed, I Co edited, like probably did
- 35:58everything. Obviously I had a Co director
- 36:01and I had a Co creative director, But these people are
- 36:04helping me execute my vision and I just really, yeah, hope people
- 36:08like it. You know what excites me the
- 36:10most about you as an artist is like how much this is Sophie
- 36:14Powers world. And I really feel like
- 36:16everything you do, the music, the lyrics, the visuals, like
- 36:19even down to the sounds, it's like I feel like I'm taking
- 36:23right there, like I'm in that world with you.
- 36:25Well, thank you. I'm actually working on
- 36:27relinquishing some of that creative control because I just
- 36:31don't have the bandwidth anymore.
- 36:34Also, like it's hard because budget wise I do have to like
- 36:38cover those extra roles, but right now my main focus is what
- 36:42you're saying like bringing people into that deeper world.
- 36:45I'm building out a new album currently a mini mini album and
- 36:51all of these singles like Muddy and all that.
- 36:54It's kind of just like the precursors for what the
- 36:57storyline. I'm very much like I've gone
- 36:59into film this past year, like extremely and like, yeah, just
- 37:03taking a lot of inspirations from like Maria Bukovich, I'm
- 37:07probably butchering her last name.
- 37:08But like do performative like art.
- 37:11I'm doing like a a 24 hour live stream for my song Muddy where
- 37:15like it's like just me. And shut the hell up.
- 37:18No, I'm. Actually doing it I actually
- 37:19think happens tomorrow or the day after.
- 37:21OK, I'm watching tuning in. Yes, TuneIn, I'm literally going
- 37:26to be on a stream for 24 hours unless it ends earlier because
- 37:31I'll be in this sort of glass encasement.
- 37:34And I'm just I'm wondering what people will do if there's mud
- 37:40and just a 21 year old girl in this glass encasement.
- 37:43How how bad? Like how?
- 37:45What state is the world in, right?
- 37:46Now I'm like scared for you now she like protects.
- 37:49You, if you donate sobs, someone's going to pour mud into
- 37:51that tank. And if that mud like hits my
- 37:54neck before the 24 hours, like that's the state that we're in
- 37:58in the world. It's more so like something I'm
- 38:00curious about and also performative.
- 38:01Art Experience. I mean, it's also just a
- 38:05testament to how strongly that I believe in this song.
- 38:10And I believe that we need to focus more on art and creativity
- 38:15and self-expression and freedom of speech and exploration of
- 38:18personal character. That was a lot of like different
- 38:22words thrown into. And it's totally made complete
- 38:24sense to all of us. Though you understand what I'm
- 38:26trying to get at, I think that it's just so important now, so
- 38:30more than ever, especially with like AI and all of that
- 38:34bullshit. And being passionate about your
- 38:36projects and your art, though, like I always say this, like
- 38:38when I'm talking about myself, it's like, you know, I don't
- 38:40believe in myself. I don't believe in my work.
- 38:41Who, how can I convince anyone else to believe in it?
- 38:43You know? And I feel like it's giving that
- 38:45commitment and dedication to it because that's like, that's a
- 38:48lot of grit. I know my capabilities and I
- 38:50believe in my capabilities. Do I believe in the way that I
- 38:53like look in the morning? No.
- 38:56Do I believe in like, you know, my, oh, my voice or certain
- 39:00other aspects when I'm just talking?
- 39:01No. I'll probably listen to this
- 39:02podcast and like hate the sound of my voice.
- 39:04But when I'm singing, you're on that stage.
- 39:06It's like you have to know who you are and know what you bring
- 39:09to the table. Otherwise, what are what are you
- 39:13sitting down for at the table Like you're just Shanee bro.
- 39:17No, absolutely. That was a bad metaphor.
- 39:20Well, I didn't even get that metaphor.
- 39:21What were you metaphoring? I was trying to refer to the
- 39:24fact of like self worth and knowing who you are.
- 39:28I'm sure you with your podcast like you have to have and come
- 39:31in with intentions, yeah, otherwise you risk no one
- 39:35listening. Yeah, for sure.
- 39:36Like I'm very like, I'm super intentional.
- 39:38Like that's why I feel like I resonate a lot with you.
- 39:40It's like the world, but like we talked about.
- 39:42I also dealt myself a lot though.
- 39:44Doubt. That's human.
- 39:46I doubt myself. I'm doubting myself right now.
- 39:47I'm like, has this been going well?
- 39:49What? No, it has been going well.
- 39:51I'm actually going to have a fruit roll up because I've been
- 39:53doing this conversation so much and you guys were nice enough to
- 39:56give me. Wait, was that a fruit roll up?
- 39:58Fruit. Rolls.
- 39:58It's like a healthy version of what a fruit roll up would be.
- 40:01We only have healthy snacks here at The Lulu.
- 40:04Not my intention, but that's what we're providing.
- 40:07OK, Well, that's so awesome. And I feel like especially with
- 40:10everything that you're talking about, like the commitment to
- 40:12your craft is crazy, but we talked about it.
- 40:15You have to be crazy to make it like genuinely.
- 40:17Yes, and your commitment also like wait, you're the best.
- 40:20I really relate to you. I'm serious.
- 40:22Like it's, it's really honorable.
- 40:24Wait. Oh my God, Thank you so much.
- 40:26I so appreciate that. That's so sweet.
- 40:28Thank you. Also by the way to everyone
- 40:31listening right now, you do not have to take my advice on
- 40:33anything I just said. I still don't know what the fuck
- 40:35I'm doing, half the time I just be saying shit and trying my
- 40:39best and doing what I want. I personally am going to take
- 40:43every advice that you've given. No like.
- 40:45Seriously. Like I am when parents say like,
- 40:48oh, my daughter's like looks up to you.
- 40:50I'm like please don't. Like I'm not going to be a role
- 40:52model. I am like, like, of course I'm
- 40:55trying to be, but I'm doing a shit job at it.
- 40:58Probably not though. Like honestly, at the end of the
- 41:00day, what you're representing is be yourself and like express
- 41:04yourself how you want to express yourself.
- 41:06And I feel like you do a great job exemplifying that.
- 41:08Thank you. So I feel like that's honestly
- 41:11more than enough. What else can anyone ask for?
- 41:14I mean, there's a lot of things that I feel like people ask for
- 41:18and expect from especially like female music artists.
- 41:21So there is more. But hey, all I can do is like my
- 41:26best. And at the end of the day, like
- 41:29don't, don't model your kid out for me.
- 41:32I'm, I'm a 21 year old girl. I I don't know, I'm not freer
- 41:37in. I'm sorry.
- 41:37That's an anime I've been watching.
- 41:38She's like 3000 years old or something.
- 41:41Yeah, she's like this, like all knowing, like mage.
- 41:45I just, I don't have that at all.
- 41:48OK, that's fair. Honestly we shouldn't have
- 41:50expectations that anyone should have it figured out anyways.
- 41:52But I think what's interesting about what you're talking about,
- 41:54Do you feel like you're super self critical of yourself?
- 41:56Like you said, you have your your doubts of yourself.
- 41:59I'm so self critical, I'm so hard on myself.
- 42:01That's why my song Better on Mute.
- 42:03It's like I'm my own worst enemy.
- 42:05Right. Like, you can say this to me,
- 42:07but like, it's nothing that I wouldn't have said to myself or
- 42:10even it's probably not even as bad as what I would say.
- 42:12To myself exactly. And I love that it's like a jab
- 42:15back at those comments, too. No, like I literally will beat
- 42:19myself up to the point of like actual like questionable like
- 42:24girl talk to a therapist. But that's.
- 42:26Why music is there self-destructive?
- 42:28So like, I get that. That's what my songs are for
- 42:31though. It's like I can talk about that
- 42:33and it's a form of free therapy and also I'm sure people can
- 42:38relate to that as. Well, definitely relate to.
- 42:40That, yeah, for sure. In today's society, too, with
- 42:42social media, honestly, at the age of 25, living in the United
- 42:47States, if you're a female and you do not have any sort of
- 42:51like, cosmetic adjustments, you're made to think that you're
- 42:54not beautiful. That's so far.
- 42:55Like what? You're right.
- 42:57That's crazy. I mean, look, I'll still
- 42:59probably do it. I'm not above it, but I'm just
- 43:01saying it's that's the world we live in.
- 43:04I mean the expectations for female pop artists in general
- 43:06are so high and like it's completely unrealistic but like
- 43:10it's exactly what you. Said even for men though, like
- 43:13young males, like the physical and financial and even emotional
- 43:18expectations. Like I look at my 16 year old
- 43:21brother Charlie. I'm like Charlie, you know, you
- 43:24don't like, you don't have to like do these things because
- 43:28society is telling you, like you like, take the strides and steps
- 43:32that you want in your life. You know, like I try to
- 43:36encourage him. It's just it's hard.
- 43:38It's super hard. It's super hard.
- 43:40I especially think with everything you see in media this
- 43:43generation, I think AI makes it so much worse because in it like
- 43:46really makes it more like we're leaning towards more perfection
- 43:49and less just being human, you know?
- 43:51Obviously. But yeah, that's some bullshit.
- 43:55Well, it's also my siblings. I have triple younger siblings.
- 44:00So they're all 17 now going to uni next year.
- 44:05They're seniors in high school. And like I just anyone listening
- 44:12to this, like if you're in university, you just graduated
- 44:14or if you're about to go really, it's hard when you have
- 44:19expectations of your family. I know, I know.
- 44:23But you do not want to look back and live with so many regrets
- 44:30because you couldn't do what you wanted to do in like 10 years
- 44:33from now. Be like damn I should have done
- 44:34this. Yeah, I hate that idea.
- 44:36I just I try that's. A scary idea.
- 44:38I just try to live the most without regrets.
- 44:41Yeah, same. I think my philosophy is like if
- 44:43I'm not having the best time at all times, I don't want to do it
- 44:48genuinely. Like if I I don't want to spend
- 44:49an hour not doing what I want to do.
- 44:51My thing is like my biggest, I guess virtue in life is freedom.
- 44:56I want to be free to do anything I want, say whatever I want, do
- 45:00whatever I want. I just want freedom.
- 45:02I hate constraints and I mean that's why I have like a lot of
- 45:05issues. Oh really?
- 45:06You think so? What's your can I ask your Myers
- 45:08brace personality type? OK, it is ENFJ.
- 45:13What's yours? Even TJ.
- 45:14Oh shit. OK, so pretty similar.
- 45:16I'm sorry you said you want to guess, I just.
- 45:18I would not have guests. I'm so bad at keeping my mouth
- 45:21shut I I'd be yapping. That's why it's a good podcast.
- 45:25Yes, you're a good podcast guest.
- 45:27Oh, thank you. Yes.
- 45:28Let me ask my publicist real quick.
- 45:29Have I said anything cancelable or are we chilling?
- 45:32No, you've said things that are really authentic and
- 45:34interesting. Yes, authentic and interesting
- 45:36things only. I think so, absolutely.
- 45:39On that note, what artists have been copying you and can you
- 45:42name them? She like Laird.
- 45:46She's like, she's like, not that one.
- 45:48I'm just kidding. For the podcast, because I
- 45:53really actually don't have any hate to any of them as well.
- 45:56Like I take that always as a compliment and I think art
- 46:00influences art. So even if like they're not
- 46:02meaning to like nothing I've done is exclusively mine.
- 46:06Everything at some point has been done before.
- 46:08It's 2025. That's.
- 46:09What I'm trying to take from you, because you mentioned that
- 46:11too, where you don't even get mad at anymore.
- 46:13I get so mad when people copy me and it's like just, I guess more
- 46:17blatant copying. I don't mind like loose
- 46:18inspirations or whatever, but like if I see something like, Oh
- 46:21yeah, that. It's just going to happen if
- 46:23you're doing a good job of what you're doing and the 1st and
- 46:26being the first of what you're doing and you have to remember
- 46:29that. I love that.
- 46:31Don't forget it. Thank you so much.
- 46:32I'm going to say that's my mantra every night.
- 46:35Oh, really? I will now well.
- 46:37You should forget it if that's the case.
- 46:38I would not say that as your maldra.
- 46:40OK, we need to double down on the on the advice that we're
- 46:43giving. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:44For real. I need to shut up.
- 46:46I'm like, not some all knowing. I really actually, I give better
- 46:49advice than I take for myself. You know what I think it's like
- 46:52really powerful to acknowledge that.
- 46:53It's like you don't know anything anyways, because that's
- 46:54how exactly how I feel too. It's like I don't know anything.
- 46:57People shouldn't ask me anything.
- 46:58I write in my journal all the time.
- 46:59We're like, I have no idea the fuck I'm doing.
- 47:01I feel like I think I know. I give people advice as if I
- 47:03know and I'm like, I don't know. I really don't know.
- 47:07I don't think anyone knows. No one knows and no one should
- 47:10know. Genuinely, even the Albert
- 47:14Einstein's still there are still things he did not know.
- 47:18There are still things we do not know about the human body.
- 47:21Doctors, years, years, years studying that we do not know and
- 47:24are still figuring out. And I just, yeah, that's just
- 47:28life. Just acknowledge not knowing.
- 47:29It's fine. Yeah.
- 47:30Yeah. I don't know.
- 47:30Shit. Hey, that's what me think.
- 47:34I'm delulu as hell. What's up?
- 47:36So you are finding everything by yourself now.
- 47:39But you were previously signed to a record label.
- 47:42So what's that experience? Life.
- 47:43I know you mentioned that you were dropped by the label.
- 47:44They had a lot of shifts on the team.
- 47:46Oh, spill. Where we at?
- 47:48Sorry, I'm really bad at hiding my facial expression.
- 47:50Oh no, I'm the fucking worst at it.
- 47:52Need to get better at. That.
- 47:53No, honestly, just own it. I'm not media trained really.
- 47:57No but but. Work for Tristan.
- 48:01Yeah, I'll say, look, my experience is probably different
- 48:05from every single artist on that label or any major label because
- 48:10the thing about major labels is it does not actually matter
- 48:14where you sign. It does to a certain extent, but
- 48:15it's your team there and these labels go through shuffles.
- 48:19So my team and my situation, I signed through a joint venture
- 48:24label. Shout out to who gave support at
- 48:26He was my ANR on tag. Tag was a label with Atlantic
- 48:31and Atlantic got a new CEO. They got absorbed and all of
- 48:38those joint ventures, like I think 99% of them were cut.
- 48:45They cut all JV from Atlantic and like the Fueled by Ramans
- 48:49were just upstreamed because it was underneath Warner.
- 48:52So all of those artists then went to Atlantic.
- 48:54So imagine their bandwidth now they they just essentially, not
- 48:59that they were like cutting the dead weight, but that was just
- 49:02the circumstance. Too much for them to.
- 49:03Handle it was yeah, so new CEO, so I was signed through JV and
- 49:07it was just this whole like yeah, it was just this whole up
- 49:11in the air thing. I know they caught like 302
- 49:16hundred other artists, like 100 other arts, so it wasn't just me
- 49:18singled out, but still that is very soul crushing when you are,
- 49:23you know, working so hard since the age of 15 and then touring
- 49:27until 1718. Then you get signed and you do
- 49:29the thing and you you. Feel all your.
- 49:31Dreams and all your dreams are coming true and then you sign
- 49:35the record deal at 18 and then at 19.
- 49:40Or I think I had, no, I think yeah, I was 19 for you to just
- 49:46like, Oh yeah, by the way, like you're dropped.
- 49:48And that's just this company that you've put your whole
- 49:52entire soul into and everything, like you've given them
- 49:55everything, every part of yourself, like dedicated your
- 49:58art and just should be like let go.
- 50:00And just like, yeah, like things can change that easily.
- 50:03It's just really soul crushing. I'm sure anyone who's worked at
- 50:07a company for a long time and been let go of their job.
- 50:10It's just a really hard thing. And I don't like hold anyone
- 50:16specifically like accountable for that.
- 50:19I think my experience with their with a lot of my experience
- 50:23there with a lot of the people was like actually great.
- 50:25Actually loved a lot of my team and yeah, I wasn't like begging
- 50:33anyone to like stay, but it's also just like really hard to
- 50:38come to terms with the fact that what you thought was your
- 50:41forever home is like you were. It feels like I was kicked out
- 50:46of my house. I actually like came to terms
- 50:49with that, but I'm like a while ago, but I'm, I'm still healing,
- 50:53you know? Absolutely.
- 50:54I mean, that could be extremely traumatic, especially feeling
- 50:57like all your dreams came true. You're giving what you kind of
- 50:59wanted. Like, all artists would love to
- 51:01be signed to a label, of course. But you know what Bonnie McKee
- 51:04says? She says that being dropped from
- 51:05a label is like a rite of passage.
- 51:08And I actually think it's just part of my story.
- 51:10Like if I have this perfect story where I'm signed to the
- 51:14label and then I just blow up and then technically what I'm
- 51:19just going to get the industry plan accusations, I'm going to
- 51:22get the she didn't struggle. She had she like I came from
- 51:26this whatever family was like had all these connections.
- 51:29I by the way, knew like basically no one in the music
- 51:31industry. My dad like did like work with
- 51:34hair salons and he was an accountant, like I said, but he
- 51:38did the entrepreneur path. So unfortunately I got scouted.
- 51:43Well, I shouldn't say unfortunately, I got actually
- 51:45got scouted for Atlantic performing at a concert.
- 51:47Like it was not I didn't have a TikTok hit.
- 51:50I didn't have like a song blow up that then like people
- 51:53discovered me online for I kind of had like momentum that I was
- 51:57building and. That's like super old school of
- 51:59how they used to discover artists too.
- 52:00Yeah. And like, that's why I also have
- 52:03such a respect for older and upcoming artists because it's
- 52:09it's so hard, but also easier than ever to breakthrough.
- 52:12But it's also harder than ever because there's so much noise
- 52:15and it's so much easier to do where old school artist.
- 52:18There's a threshold. But yes, to your point, I'm now
- 52:21in the I have been meeting with other labels and I'm not opposed
- 52:24to like signing up the major again.
- 52:26Would you do another major label?
- 52:28No, I actually sorry, sorry, I'm not against it is what I meant
- 52:31to say. Like like I would do it
- 52:32obviously from a financial perspective, like totally it's
- 52:36really hard to do it alone. But I will say I would wait to
- 52:42do it on my own terms because I signed a deal when I was very
- 52:45young and I was developing and I own 18% of those songs and they
- 52:51own 87%. And that's like normal.
- 52:53Like I'm not pressed about that in any way.
- 52:57But the fact that that is normal is like, oh, like that's very
- 53:04eye opening. You know, if you're not in the
- 53:06music industry, like imagine someone taking 80% of your
- 53:11artwork every time you sold a painting and you're a painter
- 53:14for a living. I mean, but that's just the way
- 53:17it goes. If you're an upcoming and
- 53:18developing artist, like they're taking a chance on you, they're
- 53:21they're putting this money into you.
- 53:23So you're just, you know, that's like what you have to do.
- 53:26And I'm pretty realistic. I, like I said, try not to have
- 53:30too many regrets. I'm very thankful for like that
- 53:33experience, but I'm focused on my friends.
- 53:39I like the term friends, as in like friends and fans, the power
- 53:42puffs. I'm really focused on like
- 53:45building my community and my story and like what I actually
- 53:48want to do rather than who I want to do it with at this
- 53:53moment. I love that, and I think when
- 53:54you have that intention of focusing on the people that
- 53:57you're making the art for, that the people are going to consume
- 53:59it because that's how I do things.
- 54:01It's like at the end of the day, people can tell me what they
- 54:03think I should do, what's going to be easier to market,
- 54:05etcetera. But that's like, I'm not doing
- 54:06it for you. I'm not doing it for that.
- 54:08I'm doing it for them. I'm doing it for you.
- 54:10So it's just like that's how I hope I never lose that.
- 54:13So I love that you said that because I feel like actually a
- 54:15lot of people don't talk about that, but I really love that you
- 54:18said that. Well, thank you.
- 54:20I mean, there's a lot of things that I like still can't even
- 54:22talk about on this on this podcast.
- 54:24Like, yeah, and I'll because just, I also want to be as
- 54:29respectful as possible to like any people involved.
- 54:33And the music industry is a small place, but I will say to
- 54:37any upcoming artist like please, please, Please remember and look
- 54:44over that contract. As it came before.
- 54:46You signed it. I trusted the adults in the
- 54:49room. I still don't think I signed
- 54:51actually that horrible of a deal for where I was at in my career.
- 54:55But you know, that's that that's a long deal.
- 55:00Like I signed a 1 + 4. I think that that's four out.
- 55:04That's 10 years of your life. Like you're committing to these
- 55:06people, this company for like 10 years.
- 55:08In my case, I did not and that's why I didn't continue with
- 55:11glitch level 2. But yeah, it's just you're,
- 55:16you're really in for the long game with those people.
- 55:17So please read those contracts, surround yourself with the best
- 55:21people you can, and yeah, that's really all you can do.
- 55:25I'm going to piggyback off of that like absolutely baby knows
- 55:30a contract and they, I feel like there's, there's so much push
- 55:35and pull, especially in the industry, in any artists or
- 55:37anyone up and coming, anyone who wants to be creative, like,
- 55:39yeah, contracts, like read that shit.
- 55:41And also, I don't know, do your due diligence yourself because I
- 55:45also trust a lot of people to do it for me, which honestly has
- 55:48gone to me and so many situations.
- 55:50And I also want to tell you, I wish, I hope I have the grace
- 55:54that you have about how you left your previous record label.
- 55:57I hope I have that grace for whatever inevitably comes over
- 56:01here. Honolulu.
- 56:03So I'm going to, I'm going to remember that whenever anyone
- 56:06asked me about anything, I'm going to be like, OK, Sophie
- 56:08gave a really nice, clean PR answer, and I should too.
- 56:11Oh wow, that was a clean PR answer.
- 56:13It was. Gorgeous.
- 56:15We got the PR nod of approval. There we go.
- 56:19I mean look, eventually one day I will do the spill all, tell
- 56:22all and like fuck my enemies like fuck this bitch and let me
- 56:26do this. I'm like literally sorry.
- 56:27I don't know if I'm allowed to swear on here but.
- 56:29No, fuck yeah, swear. But like Will and I can't wait
- 56:33for that day to time because it's still like an ongoing
- 56:36thing. But until then, I will remain
- 56:40poised and as classy as I can be because I'm hey, I'm not trying
- 56:50to be the bigger person. I actually hate that.
- 56:52Like I'll be petty till the day I die.
- 56:54Love it. Me too.
- 56:54But I don't need to spew that pettiness.
- 56:56I can. I can internalize that.
- 56:58You're way better than me. Honestly.
- 56:59I'm in the same in a similar boat as you.
- 57:01Like the second I get the opportunity to speak or do
- 57:04whatever I want. Like I don't, I like to say
- 57:06this, I don't burn bridges. I like set the sea ablaze.
- 57:09Like I want to burn everything down.
- 57:12Like everything goes down with me.
- 57:13Like it's not just I burn a bridge, I'm going to light that
- 57:16motherfucker up. So that's how I feel.
- 57:18So when I have my documentary and my mom more and my tell all,
- 57:21like a lot of people would be scared and a lot of people
- 57:24should be scared. God damn.
- 57:27But anyways, I love any music. That was crazy.
- 57:30I wouldn't. I do not want to get on your bad
- 57:32side. Honestly, I agree.
- 57:33I completely agree. Brett should people piss me off?
- 57:37No, I'm terrified. He's kidding.
- 57:40He loves me. And also like you have to, I
- 57:45think, go through all these things like be dragged through
- 57:49the gutter to even like go to the top.
- 57:52Like like, I don't know. I like the idea of a non linear
- 57:55journey. Yeah, me too.
- 57:57And it's not linear. And if you look at a lot of
- 57:58people look at things like they expect to be like an overnight
- 58:00success or whatever, but then you look at people experience a
- 58:02Carpenter who's like 10 years in the making also.
- 58:04Chapel aroma job from my same label like and then seven years
- 58:09later is like the biggest thing absolutely so period Chapel.
- 58:13OK, period. Chapel.
- 58:15OK, so no glitch level 2. Not at the moment, no, because
- 58:19they still own everything I made in term technically, or a lot of
- 58:22those songs. So a lot of the new music.
- 58:24Is. After this label.
- 58:26Yes, got it. Some of the songs were even
- 58:30before I signed to them. Like I said, takes five years to
- 58:32make a song. I signed from 2023 till 2020,
- 58:40actually only got out of my deal in 2025 this year, even though I
- 58:43wasn't like, yeah, 'cause it took like, I think like 7 or 8
- 58:47months to get out of the contract.
- 58:49Yes. But so like, point being,
- 58:53there's music I made before I was with them.
- 58:56You know what I feel like with leaving the label, like this was
- 58:59a giant transition for you, Not just with leaving the label,
- 59:02just with your music, your image, like it was very bright,
- 59:06YA 2K more bubbly and you become more muted.
- 59:09And I feel like the music's gone darker, it's gone grittier.
- 59:12And your first release, Independent was Move with Me.
- 59:15So with Move With Me, you're talking about like going through
- 59:18the transitions and you need someone who's going to be able
- 59:20to keep up with you. And then the the video is so
- 59:22beautiful by the way. Thank you.
- 59:25Yes. Well, yeah, I mean, I was
- 59:27dropped through my label and entered my villain arc and
- 59:30wanted to change. Yeah.
- 59:31I'm in the villain arc right now.
- 59:32Oh yeah. Hell yeah.
- 59:33That's You're on to Lulu After Dark.
- 59:35This is the second season of the show, and I was kind of just
- 59:37going through a lot of shit at the time over the summer when I
- 59:39was like, I think I'm done filtering myself and being
- 59:43friendly and like cutesy and clean and I think I just want to
- 59:47say whatever the fuck I want to say now.
- 59:49Just say it. Just be yourself.
- 59:51I'm such a bad encourager of that.
- 59:52Actually, no, no, no. Honestly, I'm having the best
- 59:55times. I'm going to say everything.
- 59:56But yeah, that's kind of where I am now too.
- 59:58I was telling my Co writer I was like, I actually relate a lot to
- 1:00:00because you were talking in previous interviews about how,
- 1:00:03you know, this is such a visual shift for you too.
- 1:00:05It's not as bright, it gets a lot darker.
- 1:00:07And I feel like it's, so it is natural, like if you're going
- 1:00:09through a lot, if you're going through a transition, you know?
- 1:00:11Well, let's also keep in mind like I started these these
- 1:00:16labels like they, there was a long time in between releases.
- 1:00:19Like I made a lot of those songs or like started the Glitch
- 1:00:25Ideation when I was 17/16/17 and then those songs are getting
- 1:00:34released when I'm like 18/19/20 even.
- 1:00:39And now I'm 21. I I just turned 21 a couple
- 1:00:43weeks ago. Yeah.
- 1:00:43Happy birthday. Thank you.
- 1:00:45Victor Leo too. Oh yes, love Leos, but it just
- 1:00:51reached a point where I wanted to embrace like a more adult
- 1:00:59approach and like push my artistry to the limits.
- 1:01:03So that's what I tried to do with that video and it was
- 1:01:07really fun to yeah, style and like creative direct and put
- 1:01:13together all the art direction on the mood board side like I
- 1:01:16usually do. There are obviously so many
- 1:01:18amazing creatives like you who helped me bring that to life, so
- 1:01:21I always credit where credit is due.
- 1:01:23Shout out Jordy, shout out L8 American Crispy.
- 1:01:28Yeah. I feel like with that video too,
- 1:01:31like moving into muddy like the next visual, like it still stays
- 1:01:34in that realm and world. Yeah, I think it stays in the
- 1:01:37Roman world, but every video is going to be better than the
- 1:01:40next. Muddy is a better music video on
- 1:01:42the move with me. Oh my God, I love that.
- 1:01:44I love that you have that intention.
- 1:01:45That's how I feel too. When I'm working.
- 1:01:47It's like everything needs. I tell my PA this all the time
- 1:01:49and like everything we do needs to elevate.
- 1:01:50Each time. Every single time.
- 1:01:52Otherwise, what are you doing? You're staying stagnant.
- 1:01:54Yes, artistically, I don't the numbers like that fluctuates,
- 1:01:58it'll go down, it'll stay the same, but numbers are just
- 1:02:00numbers like artistic. I mean, that's art, yeah.
- 1:02:03That's where like my heart is and that's why I play the social
- 1:02:06media games to the best of my abilities to like, you know,
- 1:02:10support my art. But at the end of the day, I, I
- 1:02:14am an artist. I'm not as much on the social
- 1:02:18media side as I like as someone might think.
- 1:02:22I feel like in the same age, the expectation to be like a
- 1:02:25creator, especially as an artist, it's like it's become
- 1:02:28synonymous with being an artist. It's like you have to make the
- 1:02:30Tik Toks, you have to do a little dance, you have to like
- 1:02:32play the game in order for your art to be seen.
- 1:02:34But I feel like it's it's it's a really crazy time for the music
- 1:02:39industry. Honestly.
- 1:02:40It's kind that's all new, too. Like the era of TikTok, you
- 1:02:43know? Like imagine imagine like Mozart
- 1:02:49promoting his music on TikTok. Like imagine these legendary
- 1:02:54like The Beatles. Imagine The Beatles on take.
- 1:02:56We're doing a little dance to The Beatles, to Yellow Submarine
- 1:02:59like. In two times speed like Hey Jude
- 1:03:03doing like like a TikTok dance bro that's just not going to
- 1:03:06happen. Like artists need time and space
- 1:03:10to be artists and make art and I I don't have that at the moment.
- 1:03:15I can't wait till the day I do. Absolutely right now.
- 1:03:18I'm just going to shut up and like keep going and I'll not to
- 1:03:21say I'll ever abandoned like social media or like any of the
- 1:03:24power puffs. I still very like much believe
- 1:03:26that that's important. It's just today's day and age.
- 1:03:32It's this day and age exactly, and you kind of just have to
- 1:03:34roll the punches and adapt to it too.
- 1:03:36Yes, exactly. Well Sophie, you and I have been
- 1:03:38getting along so well during the show.
- 1:03:40What do you think? I mean, I'm having a lot of fun.
- 1:03:43Yeah, OK, well, we actually have a little beef that we need to
- 1:03:46address. Yeah, I know.
- 1:03:48I hate, I hate a confrontation on the show, even though I do do
- 1:03:51it on every show. But we just got this article
- 1:03:53sent in this morning by the Delulu PR team.
- 1:03:56So this is from Delulu Daily. This is the TMZ version of This
- 1:04:03is the Dulu Cinematic Universe DCU version of TMZ.
- 1:04:07And can you read this article for us?
- 1:04:10And you? Squash.
- 1:04:11This but yes. Let's squash, Let's squash it.
- 1:04:13I just I read. One my head first before, yeah.
- 1:04:16What are your companies with for sure?
- 1:04:19No, honestly, I want to be surprised.
- 1:04:20OK, scared do you? Want me to read it from the top
- 1:04:23like this? OK Daily exclusive from Sophie
- 1:04:27to Ryan, the Band-Aid takeover that's splitting fans.
- 1:04:30Band-Aid wars are heating up in the pop world, and Ryan Liu and
- 1:04:34Sophie Powers are at the center of it.
- 1:04:36Fashion icon and pop juggernaut Sophie Powers, once known for
- 1:04:40her edgy Band-Aid on the nose signature look, has suddenly
- 1:04:44ditched the trend, only for Ryan Liu to swoop in and make it her
- 1:04:48own. Fans are flooding social media
- 1:04:51claiming Ryan pulls it off. Oh.
- 1:04:55My gosh, Brian just put on the Band-Aid better than Sophie ever
- 1:05:00did, sparking whispers that Ryan may have stolen the entire look.
- 1:05:04Even Lionel Richie weighed in, admitting I never got the
- 1:05:07Band-Aid thing, but after seeing it on Ryan, I'm on board.
- 1:05:10Industry insiders say this could be the ultimate passing of the
- 1:05:14torch or full blown fashion feud in the making.
- 1:05:19Brian, you have some explaining to do.
- 1:05:20Well, you said earlier in the show that you actually find it
- 1:05:23flattering when people copy you. Not you putting my own words
- 1:05:27against me. I would hate to date you can.
- 1:05:29We run that back, I realize that it's actually a form of honor.
- 1:05:34Wait, take that back right now. Right.
- 1:05:36I'm sorry I'm. Sorry, no, I'm a perfect
- 1:05:37girlfriend. For real, I am.
- 1:05:41Well, you're kind of rocking this.
- 1:05:45Thank you. Why don't we actually suck stuff
- 1:05:46too? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:48I mean, look, Pete, he has a little bit of beef with me, but.
- 1:05:54Really. Oh, so do you think he was just
- 1:05:56complimenting me out of spite to you?
- 1:05:57No, I'm wait. Oh, that's 'cause like, you're
- 1:06:01ugly, right? What?
- 1:06:03What 'cause I'm ugly? Yeah.
- 1:06:05Oh no, that's not even true. Oh yeah, yeah, right, right.
- 1:06:08No, it's 'cause I'm ugly, right? Oh, 'cause you're ugly.
- 1:06:10Yeah, yeah. Who said that?
- 1:06:12No, I was just like quoting you. Oh, I've never said that.
- 1:06:15But I said that about you. You said that about me.
- 1:06:19Who said what about me? So you were saying that you
- 1:06:22were? Saying what did you say about
- 1:06:23me? What did I say about you?
- 1:06:25Yeah. I didn't say anything about you.
- 1:06:27There's nothing to say. Yeah, I don't even think about
- 1:06:30you. I don't talk about you either.
- 1:06:31OK, yeah, No thought. No, no thoughts.
- 1:06:33Head empty. Head empty.
- 1:06:34No thoughts. Head empty, No thoughts.
- 1:06:35It's not no thoughts. Head empty.
- 1:06:37Well, that's that was mine. You kind of messed up.
- 1:06:39No, no, no. That was the point of the song.
- 1:06:40No, no, no. That was head empty.
- 1:06:41No thoughts. My thing you have a separate
- 1:06:44thing I guess. No, I I literally have a song
- 1:06:46called Head Empty. No thoughts.
- 1:06:47Oh. Really.
- 1:06:47I haven't heard it. Oh yeah, because your head is so
- 1:06:51empty, no thoughts that you just don't listen to anything.
- 1:06:53You know what, Sophie? This is?
- 1:06:55This is getting messy. One might say it's getting
- 1:06:58muddy. Oh, that was good.
- 1:07:01That was good. You got me.
- 1:07:02That was good. I'm just joking around with you,
- 1:07:04by the way. I fucking love you, right?
- 1:07:05Oh my God, I love you. Well, thank you for letting me
- 1:07:08have the Band-Aid. How do I look studio?
- 1:07:11It looks so cute. You actually.
- 1:07:13Do a good? Can I have the?
- 1:07:14Mirror, you are not ugly, by the way, you're actually killing
- 1:07:17this look. I'm kind of annoyed because it
- 1:07:20takes me so long to get the Band-Aid on in the center and
- 1:07:23you're just like Boop and I. Literally had to improve.
- 1:07:25Oh, I kind of ate that. It looks great.
- 1:07:27You don't have. You don't have a mirror either.
- 1:07:29I didn't and I had to do it while you're talking and I'm not
- 1:07:31a good multitasker. Thank you so much.
- 1:07:33That was really good. Thank you so much.
- 1:07:35Well honestly, even if you did say I was ugly, I wouldn't even
- 1:07:37believe you. Like.
- 1:07:40I'm doing like the little hand thing.
- 1:07:42I mean, I think I'm really pretty personally, so.
- 1:07:44Yes, you are. And that hair is also, by the
- 1:07:46way, I haven't complimented it this whole time, it looks.
- 1:07:48I actually had your hair color for the shoot for the Google
- 1:07:51after dark. Really.
- 1:07:53Yeah, it's actually the grayest, faded a little bit 'cause I've
- 1:07:55been shooting so much and I ran through like the mud marathon.
- 1:07:59So I like showered for literally 3 hours after that I.
- 1:08:02Was Oh my God it looks good. I love how muted it is.
- 1:08:04Thank you. It's it's normally more Gray.
- 1:08:06I think it's like silver right now, but.
- 1:08:08I know, I love that. Thank you.
- 1:08:10Yeah. OK.
- 1:08:10So you're over the Band-Aid era? Yes, that's pixel girl.
- 1:08:13Now I'll let her have it, you know?
- 1:08:15Pixel girl, right? She'll take the she'll take the
- 1:08:17WI already took the L live in front of millions to see, so
- 1:08:21there's really nothing else to talk about.
- 1:08:23OK, well, let's get into the beef of Lionel Richie.
- 1:08:26There's actually no beef. I was just kidding around.
- 1:08:29He. You're JKI.
- 1:08:30Actually think I liked him. You know, he's there was a lot
- 1:08:34they cut out of that show. There was like 30 minutes more
- 1:08:36of on air. So you.
- 1:08:37Don't see you're on American Idol and you have such an iconic
- 1:08:41audition for it. When I watched it because
- 1:08:42everyone talked about it like when I was doing research on you
- 1:08:44and I was like, let me get to that one last because it's like
- 1:08:462 minutes on YouTube. When I got to it, I was like, Oh
- 1:08:49my God, you ate. That was a performance.
- 1:08:52Oh, thank you. Like the I don't know how you
- 1:08:53didn't crack. I really just that's just me.
- 1:08:57Like people are asking me that all the time.
- 1:08:59It's that's my everyday. I Yeah, literally.
- 1:09:02I've had so much rehearsal growing up with younger, triple
- 1:09:05younger siblings too. Yeah, like, oh, the evil pranks
- 1:09:10that used to play at my younger siblings.
- 1:09:12Oh no, not the war flashbacks. War flashbacks is crazy.
- 1:09:16I mean, I saw it in your eyes. You were gone.
- 1:09:18Oh, yeah, It took me to another place.
- 1:09:19No. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:09:20Yeah. It was funny, actually.
- 1:09:23Obviously it was some sort of performance because it was.
- 1:09:29Can I tell you on a personal level, I totally agree that
- 1:09:34babies should shut the fuck up. Don't even get me started with
- 1:09:39the babies. One look I the worst is being on
- 1:09:42an airplane and they even have the soother too.
- 1:09:46They have the thing and they don't put it in their kids mouth
- 1:09:49and they just let it. What are you doing?
- 1:09:54What is the point of even buying that item?
- 1:09:56Absolutely. Like at that point, I might as
- 1:09:58well just have it. But look, I do.
- 1:10:00I actually do love babysitting, which is a weird thing.
- 1:10:03I love little kids. I don't think I'll ever have
- 1:10:06kids. Will you babysit my kids?
- 1:10:08Yes, I would love to, obviously. Lil Sophie junior.
- 1:10:12You're naming your kid after. Me, absolutely.
- 1:10:13After this show, yes. Oh my God.
- 1:10:15Yes, Little powers junior. Little powers, Junior, that's
- 1:10:19adorable. But like, actually don't do
- 1:10:20that. My point in not you.
- 1:10:23Wouldn't be you wouldn't be the godparent.
- 1:10:26Will you be the godparent I? Would be like the drunk aunt.
- 1:10:29I would not be the godparent. I don't drink but like in
- 1:10:32spirit. OK, fair, you could babysit my
- 1:10:37kids. Yes, I would.
- 1:10:38I'm actually a really good babysitter because I was the
- 1:10:41oldest like growing up, basically like in my household,
- 1:10:44the oldest growing up. How did you do this?
- 1:10:45This is bothering me so much. You can take it off if you want
- 1:10:48the band. Aid look cute.
- 1:10:50You do look cute. I wanted to get a Hello Kitty
- 1:10:52Band-Aid but they were like harder to find than.
- 1:10:54I Oh, I have so many of them. I.
- 1:10:56Should have asked. I give you 1.
- 1:10:57I have Gloomy bear ones. Actually designed a clothing
- 1:10:59collection for Gloomy Bear and ACDC.
- 1:11:01Yes, I want to talk about that. So that just that collection was
- 1:11:05so bright and bubbly and very much so of your glitch era and
- 1:11:09you're moving into a more muted era.
- 1:11:11Your fashions were muted, even showing up to the set right now,
- 1:11:14you know not. More grace honestly, it's more
- 1:11:17just like edgy and gritty than like music and then then muted
- 1:11:24because I still want to bring something.
- 1:11:26I don't want it to just be like all monotone and like.
- 1:11:28Totally. It is very Edward.
- 1:11:30I love this. I want to borrow this after.
- 1:11:32You Oh, this is so whatever. I just threw this on this in my
- 1:11:35closet. I didn't have the budget for
- 1:11:37stylist today. OK, Otherwise I would have been
- 1:11:38like fitted up. Thank you for the transparency.
- 1:11:41You didn't think Delulu deserved a stylist?
- 1:11:43I I'm like, we were just talking about being indie and all.
- 1:11:48Totally, totally, totally, totally OK.
- 1:11:50Please buy the Sophie Powers merge and we're streaming so we
- 1:11:54can get fitted for the next show.
- 1:11:56Yes, please. Yes.
- 1:11:58I actually just dropped vinyls also for my song Adam, Do you
- 1:12:01know Thoughts and move with me? Speaking of move with me.
- 1:12:04OK everyone, we're copying the vinyls.
- 1:12:06Yes, I'm actually so excited about that.
- 1:12:07My God. I'm excited.
- 1:12:08I'm literally gonna buy one right after this.
- 1:12:10Really. Dead ass.
- 1:12:11Thank you where are they? 7 inch yes my God I love 7 inch
- 1:12:14vinyls yes I'm getting. Yeah, they're just an A side B
- 1:12:16side 7 inch. So what about for Muddy and
- 1:12:19their future releases? For Muddy and future releases.
- 1:12:21For Muddy I do have merch going up and for future releases dude
- 1:12:27I already have my next EP that's coming out next year, Merge
- 1:12:30Design so. Damn, you're ahead.
- 1:12:32Yeah. Oh my gosh, I need to get on
- 1:12:34your level. I'm like, so behind.
- 1:12:35I'm still going through all my shoots I've been doing and I'm
- 1:12:37like trying to figure out like how I want to place them.
- 1:12:39I think everything I do deserves a life.
- 1:12:40So like, I I just hate dropping. Like I don't just want to drop
- 1:12:43something. Yeah, I have a hard time with it
- 1:12:45too because I want to sell my cotton sew designs and I can't
- 1:12:49wait till the day that I can have my own clothing collection.
- 1:12:52Just everything. Everything.
- 1:12:54'S happening. How I want it to be, like you
- 1:12:56said, how you wanted your own label.
- 1:12:58That's how I feel about fashion. I love that.
- 1:13:01So would you do like when it comes to like if you were to
- 1:13:04release your designs, your fashion, would you say it's more
- 1:13:08in the world where we are right now with Move With Me and Muddy?
- 1:13:15It really just depends when I release it and where I'm at at
- 1:13:18that point in time, because I do a lot of cosplaying, which is
- 1:13:22also bright colors and I love designing like superhero cartoon
- 1:13:25character like Scott Pilgrim, the esque video game.
- 1:13:30I I I really reference like Resident Evil Mortal Kombat or
- 1:13:35like a lot of like punk skillet, like old, old video games.
- 1:13:41So I don't want to completely ditch color because that would
- 1:13:45just be boring. But I think for different
- 1:13:47collections, you know I was. Going to say you should do like
- 1:13:49little drops. Yes, yes, exactly, depending on
- 1:13:52the song. Wait, I love that.
- 1:13:53OK, well, we have some questions that were submitted by some
- 1:13:56besties. I know we said that you don't
- 1:13:59think you give good advice, but let's see what the vice comes
- 1:14:01out of this so. Advice from Sovie Powers I.
- 1:14:04Will take I will take all your advice honestly.
- 1:14:07Person. OK, this is WWAGD.
- 1:14:10This is what would a delulu girl do?
- 1:14:12So these are questions that some bestie Lulu's have submitted and
- 1:14:15they want to know what we would do.
- 1:14:16Are you ready? Yes.
- 1:14:18OK, so first one. OK, No, you're going to be
- 1:14:20great. OK, we'll see.
- 1:14:23Do you think it's possible to be friends with an ex?
- 1:14:26He has a new boyfriend and everything?
- 1:14:28No. No, I hate all my exes.
- 1:14:30I hope they die now. Just kidding, don't hold
- 1:14:34resentments toward anyone. A good positive energy.
- 1:14:38Love them. Wait, we're so the same.
- 1:14:40Yeah, I'm the same. I'm like, yeah, you should
- 1:14:41suffer. Yeah.
- 1:14:42Loki I don't even have bad exes actually.
- 1:14:45Like I don't hope they die in hell.
- 1:14:47That's a little bit of a lie. The more I think about it.
- 1:14:49They're not a bad they're none of them are bad people.
- 1:14:53I just can't be friends with them because I feel emotions so
- 1:14:58intensely. Right.
- 1:14:59It just I can't like flip the switch into friend mode.
- 1:15:02I can't do it. Oh my God.
- 1:15:03Literally. I can't do it, it's too hard for
- 1:15:06me and so I actually don't wish them the worst, but I don't want
- 1:15:11them in my life essentially. That is so fair.
- 1:15:15Really. Yes.
- 1:15:17Oh see, I do give good advice actually.
- 1:15:19No, I think that is so fair. Like if you feel type of way
- 1:15:22about someone and it's like too much for you, like yeah.
- 1:15:25Also, it doesn't have to mean that you guys can't still be
- 1:15:28friendly, it's just you don't have to be friends.
- 1:15:32There's a difference. OK, I like that, but that was
- 1:15:35good advice. I'm like shook if.
- 1:15:38Oh yeah. No, that was good.
- 1:15:40I really like that. See, I told you I'm good at
- 1:15:42advice, but I'm bad at taking it.
- 1:15:43Do you? Think it's possible to be
- 1:15:44friends with an ex? Fuck it girl, do what you want.
- 1:15:48OK so here's another question. How do you handle people giving
- 1:15:52you unsolicited advice? For me, I fucking hate
- 1:15:55unsolicited advice. Like it bothers me so much.
- 1:15:59I like don't handle it I just crash out.
- 1:16:02Honestly I just like get into beef with them giving me advice
- 1:16:06for I didn't even ask. If I didn't ask.
- 1:16:08Did I ask? When did I ask?
- 1:16:11I never asked. I'm like, bitch, I think I know
- 1:16:12what I'm doing. Like what?
- 1:16:14Also though like they look to be right most of the time.
- 1:16:19I don't know who's giving you advice.
- 1:16:20I don't think I'm getting right advice, OK, from you.
- 1:16:23I'm getting right advice from you.
- 1:16:25Yeah, but I'm like, really stubborn about things too.
- 1:16:27So if I be feeling, you know what I mean away.
- 1:16:30It's like like like if someone gives me advice and I didn't ask
- 1:16:34for it, that makes me mad. And then I just forget about it.
- 1:16:39And then I realized they were right and then I asked them for
- 1:16:42advice. That's normally the pattern.
- 1:16:44OK, that's fair. That's big on you.
- 1:16:46Yeah, I don't think I don't like admitting when I'm wrong.
- 1:16:48You don't like admitting when you're wrong.
- 1:16:49Who does? I don't.
- 1:16:51I don't think I'm wrong. To be honest.
- 1:16:52I think I'm very very rarely wrong.
- 1:16:54Ever. Ever When have I ever been
- 1:16:57wrong? Team Go, When have I ever been
- 1:16:59wrong? You're wrong for that.
- 1:17:00No, I'm right for this. When have I ever been wrong?
- 1:17:04Remember I didn't pay this weekend.
- 1:17:06They're. Scared of Ryan?
- 1:17:09I think a good team should fear you a little bit.
- 1:17:11I'm just kidding. No, like a little bit.
- 1:17:14Oh, Tristan, are we scared of? Are we scared of Sophie?
- 1:17:16No, no. She says with fear in her eyes.
- 1:17:22I actually like seriously, that's my worst nightmare is for
- 1:17:25someone to be scared of me as like, like, so you're, I respect
- 1:17:29you for that because I get, I still care about like what the
- 1:17:35people I'm working with because those people are like, I'm
- 1:17:38asking them to do so much if I'm not treating them with like
- 1:17:42dignity, dignity and respect. Like obviously if they're not
- 1:17:45doing their job, like. Go off on their ass.
- 1:17:47Totally, I agree with you. But like, I really do believe in
- 1:17:51like equal respect, like I'm not, they're not working for me,
- 1:17:55they're working with me. I love that you said that.
- 1:17:56I literally verbatim, I'm no funny shit right now.
- 1:17:59Like that is literally what I say all the time.
- 1:18:01That's why I say to Brett. That's why I say to Amina,
- 1:18:02because I'm like, This Is Us. We're doing this together.
- 1:18:04I'm not trying to be overpowering you.
- 1:18:07I'm not trying to duh or whatever.
- 1:18:08So I love that you said that we're super similar by the.
- 1:18:12Way I know we really are. We're very similar.
- 1:18:14Freaking me out. This is why I have a lot of
- 1:18:15Virgo friends. Shit, I don't know.
- 1:18:17I'm not that into astrology though to the moment where I'm
- 1:18:20like oh. Well, maybe you're getting into
- 1:18:21it now. I won't like be this friend or
- 1:18:23whatever, actually, I just like to ask.
- 1:18:26But it's more the Myers Briggs that I believe in.
- 1:18:28Really. OK.
- 1:18:29But I actually, I don't know, I dabble in astrological.
- 1:18:33Shit, I feel like I don't know that many Leos.
- 1:18:35I know you. I know Victoria.
- 1:18:37Those are my Leos. I mean, oh, Grant.
- 1:18:39Grant Kanoki's Leo. Yes, yes, August.
- 1:18:42Yes, August 23rd. Wait, no, he's on the cusp.
- 1:18:45He is on the cusp. It ends on August 22nd.
- 1:18:47But he considers himself a Leo. I don't think he is though.
- 1:18:51Oh, we got a debate that with him.
- 1:18:54Okay, Grant, let's let's debate it next time, yeah?
- 1:18:56Grant, we're going. To podcast.
- 1:18:58We'll have him. We'll have him on.
- 1:18:59He was sitting there where you're sitting and he said he's
- 1:19:01a Leah. I might be wrong though.
- 1:19:03It also depends like when or where he's born.
- 1:19:05That's big on you to admit that, because honestly, if I I would
- 1:19:08stand on whatever I say. I'm not standing on business for
- 1:19:11that. I'm not an astrological girl.
- 1:19:12OK, fair. Fair.
- 1:19:13Fair. Fair, fair.
- 1:19:14Fair. Big on you too.
- 1:19:15OK, this is our last one. My roommates keep fighting with
- 1:19:18each other and they're complaining about each other.
- 1:19:20To me. I don't want to take sides, but
- 1:19:22one of them is definitely right and the other is in the wrong.
- 1:19:27What do we think? Ease I would decide who of like
- 1:19:31with whoever my home girl is honestly right or wrong.
- 1:19:33It really depends on the argument.
- 1:19:35I would just ignore it until the point where it's actually
- 1:19:36bothering me. Bothering you.
- 1:19:38Like like you guys can fight all you want.
- 1:19:41Like I'll stay out of it. I'll respect it.
- 1:19:43I'm really a loyal person. Me too.
- 1:19:46So if one of them was like, I'm not going to be your friend
- 1:19:49unless you do this, then like, or unless you like pick a side,
- 1:19:54then like obviously I'd be forced to.
- 1:19:56No, I would be like, then you're dropped.
- 1:19:58What do you mean you're not going to be my friend?
- 1:19:59That's crazy. That's actually crazy, Daisy.
- 1:20:02Yeah, but then you'd still be forced to be involved is what I
- 1:20:05meant. OK, fair.
- 1:20:06Rather than like pick a side, I meant obviously I'd be forced to
- 1:20:09like, not ignore it. Yes.
- 1:20:10I don't know what to pick a side.
- 1:20:12I don't even know then if that if at that point I would pick a
- 1:20:15side because why are you asking me to choose between you and my
- 1:20:19other friends? Unless they did something
- 1:20:20completely wrong. But my advice to this person
- 1:20:23would be ignore it as long as you can, stay out of it as long
- 1:20:27as you can. If it doesn't blow over and
- 1:20:30things don't get better then I would play mediator rather than
- 1:20:35pick a side and get involved because that's just that's not
- 1:20:38your. Policy you're actually so much
- 1:20:39better than me because then I feel like for me heart take.
- 1:20:42I think this. I think if I love you and loyal
- 1:20:46to you, you're never wrong to me.
- 1:20:48You could be wrong, but you're right to me.
- 1:20:50And that's kind of where I come from, and maybe I'm wrong for
- 1:20:52that. No, stand, stand by your
- 1:20:55friends. I just, I think I'm very loyal,
- 1:20:59but like if my friend does something that wrong, I'm not
- 1:21:03going to be like, I don't care if she's right.
- 1:21:05I'm going to be like, dude, like what are you doing?
- 1:21:07Like, you know, I'm, I'm always going to like, keep it real.
- 1:21:10OK. I think that's, again, we're so
- 1:21:13similar. You're like slightly better than
- 1:21:15me to be honest. Yes, you are.
- 1:21:17I'm not. I'm not you.
- 1:21:18Are my role model Sophie Powers? Oh gosh, oh gosh, you're my role
- 1:21:23model. You're my role model, Ryan.
- 1:21:25I don't know. I don't know if that's a.
- 1:21:27You are now you are. OK.
- 1:21:30Wait. You're like my Galinda can.
- 1:21:31I ask you something, I'm like the wicked witch.
- 1:21:33No, I'd rather be alphabet to be honest.
- 1:21:35Oh really? Should we swap?
- 1:21:37Hell yeah, let's swap. I mean, yeah, I identify more of
- 1:21:41her, I think. OK, OK.
- 1:21:43What do you think? I was just going to say
- 1:21:45something like super out of pocket.
- 1:21:47Oh my God, say it. I'm scared.
- 1:21:48Say it. No, I was just going to be like,
- 1:21:50are you a swap? But then I was going to so let's
- 1:21:53skip that on though. But yes, I I actually do feel
- 1:21:57like I hit both ends of the spectrum.
- 1:22:00So if you want to be I just feel like I.
- 1:22:03Relate to her like she's like villainized witch, Yeah.
- 1:22:07Yeah, I think so. You know Wicked 2's coming out
- 1:22:10soon, isn't it? Oh well, they didn't run a check
- 1:22:13for the show, so I don't know what's coming out soon.
- 1:22:16Oh yeah, no free endorsements next holler.
- 1:22:20I don't know what's coming out soon, I fear.
- 1:22:22OK, wait. Quick question for you.
- 1:22:23Do you think I'd be a good girlfriend?
- 1:22:27To me. To in general.
- 1:22:29In general, absolutely not. I think you'll probably be like
- 1:22:33one of the worst boyfriends girlfriends.
- 1:22:36Cut the cameras right now, everyone get out of the studio.
- 1:22:42I feel like no, you know, I'm just joking with.
- 1:22:45You. Yeah, totally joking.
- 1:22:45Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:22:49So Long story short, I think you here let me explain myself.
- 1:22:53Let me explain myself, OK, I think.
- 1:22:55I'm a good girlfriend, so I'll hear you out.
- 1:22:58OK sweetie, I think that you would put your heart and soul
- 1:23:03into someone to the point where it could be detrimental to your
- 1:23:10relationship because you might give someone more than what they
- 1:23:13give you. And if I'm correct on this, and
- 1:23:18please tell me if I'm wrong because I don't mean to
- 1:23:20psychoanalyze you, but I am. I'm so scared I'm literally
- 1:23:23shaking. I'm shaking my boots.
- 1:23:25Because I think that also you are someone who will take
- 1:23:30authority if the other person is not.
- 1:23:32And then you end up probably doing a lot of the planning and
- 1:23:35a lot of the figuring things out when it feels like the other
- 1:23:38person lets you steer the ship. And that may be frustrating to
- 1:23:43you because you want a balance of someone like figuring things
- 1:23:46out for you, but also like not to the point where they not to
- 1:23:50the point where you don't have control over anything.
- 1:23:52Is that so far off? Sorry there was a tangent, but.
- 1:23:58You were not welcome here at the Lulu.
- 1:24:00Was I right? I think you probably are.
- 1:24:04With like, am I completely wrong?
- 1:24:06No, I'm trying. To get to know you.
- 1:24:07I think you're honestly right. Like honestly, I do give so
- 1:24:09much. Into like you seem like you
- 1:24:12would give a relationship. Like if you're in a
- 1:24:14relationship, you're in that like with that person.
- 1:24:18And I feel the same way. That's why I don't get into
- 1:24:21relationships if I'm not like able to do that.
- 1:24:24Even if I do really like the person, if I can't give them my
- 1:24:29all my time and like be with them for them their ride or die,
- 1:24:33I'm just I can't. I can't waste their time, you
- 1:24:37know? Yeah, well, no, it's actually I
- 1:24:41wrote that like with Cam shout out Cam Hunter.
- 1:24:46He knew that I'd just gotten into a relationship and was
- 1:24:49like, and Mike actually like already had that be the producer
- 1:24:53and like we just did it. It actually ended up getting
- 1:24:56into an Apple commercial after, which is so crazy.
- 1:24:59But because it's funny because it's about like my first long
- 1:25:02term relationship that I've gone into in like a minute that I'm
- 1:25:05still in right now. And Spencer is my boyfriend.
- 1:25:11Shout out Spencer. Shout out Spencer.
- 1:25:12What's up? Do you think he's watching?
- 1:25:15No, but he probably will if I send it to him.
- 1:25:18What? Oh, send it to.
- 1:25:20Him he's kind of like busy because he also does live
- 1:25:24streaming for like TikTok shop posting.
- 1:25:25Oh cool. Yeah, totally.
- 1:25:27But. It's a full time thing.
- 1:25:29Yeah, no, it's it's really intense, but it is.
- 1:25:32I'll send it to you. I'm sure he would love it until
- 1:25:34it's ready to check it out. OK, yay Spencer.
- 1:25:35Do you think I'd be a good girlfriend?
- 1:25:38Spencer does think you'd be a good girlfriend.
- 1:25:40And by the way, I do think you'd be a good girlfriend.
- 1:25:43I was just playing with you because like I said, you seem
- 1:25:46like you put your all into someone and give them all like
- 1:25:50as much of your time because you're a busy person and that
- 1:25:54that can sometimes backfire on you.
- 1:25:55Did I clock you? Clocked, clocked, gagged.
- 1:25:58You're shit. I love it.
- 1:26:00I love analyzing people. This is why I say I feel like
- 1:26:02I'm a grandmother stuck inside my body.
- 1:26:04I always used to get told when you were younger you're so wise
- 1:26:07beyond your years. I'm like bitch, I have no
- 1:26:09fucking friends because of the shit.
- 1:26:11Oh shit, you read me for filth. Well.
- 1:26:15OK, tell me. Yes.
- 1:26:17Do you think I'd be a good girlfriend?
- 1:26:18You're a great girlfriend. Oh wait, what?
- 1:26:20Why are you being nice to me though?
- 1:26:21No, because you are a great girlfriend.
- 1:26:23Is that sarcasm? No, because as a good girlfriend
- 1:26:25I have no problem giving praise words to.
- 1:26:29Thank you. I would accept it, yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:33I'm so sketched out when people give me compliments.
- 1:26:36I really like making fun of your show.
- 1:26:38You were like gagged. No, you were.
- 1:26:39Every time I said something, you're like, and I was like,
- 1:26:41wait. No, I just like.
- 1:26:44Like drag you on the show. No, I'm just self critical like
- 1:26:47you said. Super self critical.
- 1:26:48And I also grew up ugly as book, so I never like got compliments.
- 1:26:52I feel like a lot of people who grow up and then all of a sudden
- 1:26:55glow up or like when they're older and then all of a sudden
- 1:26:57they're like receiving all this. Like what's the word for it?
- 1:27:01Praise, compliment, attention. It's the word pretty privilege.
- 1:27:05Yes. When all of a sudden, when when
- 1:27:07you like get some sort of access to that.
- 1:27:09I still don't even think I'm like the the American or
- 1:27:12whatever definition of it, But right the second you get any
- 1:27:15access to that, it's like, what? What do you mean?
- 1:27:17Like I'm still this like ugly kid inside.
- 1:27:19Like I mean it. Builds so much character.
- 1:27:21It's why you have a personality, you know?
- 1:27:24Thank you. Headgear, braces, Invisalign,
- 1:27:27little bit of lip filler, tiny bit of Botox in the forehead and
- 1:27:31skin care. Well, I need all that I'm I'm
- 1:27:35all God here, so. You're beautiful, your skin is
- 1:27:38insane. Wait, I just so.
- 1:27:40Do whatever you're doing. Thank you.
- 1:27:41I'm just let myself get stressed out over things and like sweat,
- 1:27:46I guess. Sam, that's where we are.
- 1:27:48But I'll always like be honest, like if I get something done
- 1:27:52like. I love that I also holding
- 1:27:54myself to that too. I have not done anything yet but
- 1:27:56the second I do y'all will be the first to know for sure.
- 1:27:59Clock him. Clock me, honestly.
- 1:28:02Well OK, this has been so fucking amazing.
- 1:28:04I feel bad because I told your team that I would only take an
- 1:28:07hour from you and we're definitely way past that.
- 1:28:09But I hope you're having a great time and I'm so sorry to Team
- 1:28:11Powers. I'm no, I'm fine.
- 1:28:13I'm actually sorry to everyone here because I feel like that
- 1:28:16was just so in doubt. They're having, they're having
- 1:28:19the best time, everyone so. Fun.
- 1:28:22Shut the fuck up, bitch. So fun.
- 1:28:26OK, well, are we having a good time, Victoria?
- 1:28:29Are we having a good? Time I did have a good time
- 1:28:31being to Lulu and it was nice like hearing about you and like
- 1:28:34how you view your show and you're artistic I'm.
- 1:28:36Still having you ask? No.
- 1:28:37One no one ever ask, really. Ever What I mean, to be honest,
- 1:28:41it's about the guest when they come on the show.
- 1:28:43So I'm not mad about that, but I'm really happy that you that
- 1:28:46you asked. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:28:47It also makes me, like, feel a little bit less awkward.
- 1:28:50Really. Yeah.
- 1:28:52Because then I'm not just sitting there like talking about
- 1:28:54myself. I feel like a little bit less of
- 1:28:56a narcissist. You know what, I do that to you
- 1:28:58when I'm doing interviews, I always ask about them because
- 1:29:00like kind of same ZS. It's I also know what it's like
- 1:29:03being an interviewer. Like I used to do that in high
- 1:29:06school where I'd like interview people a lot for courses because
- 1:29:09I was like the like class president or I just love public
- 1:29:13speaking. So it would always be asking
- 1:29:15people questions and talking. Yes.
- 1:29:18How's it feel equal? I love public speaking too.
- 1:29:19Me too. Oh my God, I feel like a lot of
- 1:29:21people hate it. No, I love attention.
- 1:29:24Yeah, me too, right. A lot of people also hate it
- 1:29:26though. Yeah.
- 1:29:27Oh, really? Yeah, No.
- 1:29:28Anything that will get me attention down, but I'm not a
- 1:29:30stage. Do you think that you're an
- 1:29:34attention whore? I'm a different kind of whore, I
- 1:29:37think. Like a validation whore, I
- 1:29:40guess. I like praise.
- 1:29:42I'm a slut for praise for sure. Oh, so you got a praise gang?
- 1:29:45Oh, is that what that is? So like, like you, you love to
- 1:29:49be. You know what?
- 1:29:50We're going to stop by going to. Someone's like Ryan.
- 1:29:52You're such a hard worker. I'm like, yeah, I'm.
- 1:29:55I'm ready to go. I'm good.
- 1:29:58Well, we close out every show by manifesting together.
- 1:30:00Sophie Powers, is there anything you want to speak into existence
- 1:30:03right now here on Delulu? There's so many things.
- 1:30:07Same. What are you manifesting?
- 1:30:10And then I'll go. Oh shit fuck, I'm not prepared.
- 1:30:12I know I should have been more prepared.
- 1:30:14I'm manifesting peace right now. I feel like I've been in such a
- 1:30:17chaotic era. Yes.
- 1:30:19So I'm manifesting peace and. I'm manifesting, I think triumph
- 1:30:32and success, which is really broad, but I just really want to
- 1:30:40finally, like, dude, I told you, I've been doing this since I was
- 1:30:4310 years old. I want to finally get
- 1:30:45recognition that I know I deserve.
- 1:30:47Oh. My God, you're getting
- 1:30:49recognized right here on delulu. Much love for you though.
- 1:30:52Thank you for having me. And not to say I'm not like
- 1:30:54getting any recognition, by the way, currently I have the power
- 1:30:58puffs and I love them and thank you, Power puffs, if you've
- 1:31:00listened all the way to this and to the Lulu's, the Delulu's for
- 1:31:04listening to this. But yeah, just it really I want
- 1:31:08to like build that community and get that recognition.
- 1:31:09So that to me is my definition of success like.
- 1:31:13Can I tell you I'm so fucking beyond thrilled and excited that
- 1:31:16you're on the show because to be honest, you're already doing so
- 1:31:18incredible for yourself. But I literally, I'm a prophet.
- 1:31:22I'm telling you right now, you're going to be so fucking
- 1:31:24massive and big that like when people are doing deep dives on
- 1:31:26you, they're going to find this episode and they're going to
- 1:31:29watch it. And then it's going to be like.
- 1:31:30And then they're going to watch the ending being like, I want to
- 1:31:33gain that. I'm going to win a Grammy saying
- 1:31:36that to this camera right here. Actually, I've already won in my
- 1:31:40head, but you. Already did.
- 1:31:41Can we do give us a Grammy acceptance speech right now?
- 1:31:44Go. You just won the Grammy.
- 1:31:45No, I would start crying. Cry No.
- 1:31:47Do you want mine? Don't you?
- 1:31:49To the Academy. Thank you to nobody, everybody
- 1:31:55in this music industry down to me.
- 1:31:56Fuck you. Fuck you.
- 1:31:57Fucking no. I'm just kidding.
- 1:31:58Shut the. Fuck up.
- 1:32:00No, I would actually like literally start crying.
- 1:32:02Just talk about my grandma like the whole.
- 1:32:05Grammy. Grammy, Grandma, Grammys for my
- 1:32:09Grammy. There you go.
- 1:32:11That's what I would do. Wait, I love that.
- 1:32:13OK, Well, it's really yours. I'm so excited for you.
- 1:32:14I'm so proud of you. And to watch you, like, do
- 1:32:16everything that you're about to do, everything that you're
- 1:32:18already doing, it's just so sickening.
- 1:32:20Like you have such a clear vision.
- 1:32:21Thank you. Yes, I have an entire storyline
- 1:32:24for this next album, but if you guys want to tune in to Muddy,
- 1:32:27I'm excited for you to see the music video too.
- 1:32:28Ryan, I know you're liking the teasers, so thank.
- 1:32:31You I'm loving the teasers. Thank you.
- 1:32:33Oh my God, especially just because like the entire concept
- 1:32:35of it and obviously muddy like it's I don't know how to say it.
- 1:32:39It's like going at low dirty route.
- 1:32:41But I also feel like you what you said, the juxtaposition of
- 1:32:43like it being like messy and then also it being like
- 1:32:46polished. It the whole song is literally
- 1:32:48just about embracing the mess and the chaotic chaos of who you
- 1:32:52are and people better accept that for you or not love it,
- 1:32:55Comfortable in your body, your sexuality, who you are, right,
- 1:32:58that's it claim. Received.
- 1:33:00Thank you for having me, seriously.
- 1:33:01Thank you so much for being. Here I have fun.
- 1:33:03This is the best. Please come back for the next
- 1:33:04season. Yes.
