- 0:00Hebrews chapter 3. Let us pray.
- 0:07Oh Lord, we love you. We love everything about you.
- 0:11We thank you God for another day to come and worship you in
- 0:14spirit and truth. God, I pray that you'll teach
- 0:18us. Holy Spirit, guide us through
- 0:21these holy scriptures. Guide us through the spoken word
- 0:26of God Almighty Yahweh, from everlasting, the Most High God,
- 0:31the Banner, our Provider and our Healer God.
- 0:34We know that you see, We thank You Father, that You are Lord
- 0:38and You are God Almighty. And we get out of our own
- 0:41understanding, we get out of our own reasoning, we get out of our
- 0:44own intellect to God, and we believe and we trust in You,
- 0:50Lord, we take every single syllable to heart, God.
- 0:54We memorize and hide your word in our hearts, God, so that we
- 0:58might not sin against you. Holy Spirit, fill us
- 1:02overflowing. Holy Spirit, guide us.
- 1:05Holy Spirit, give us discernment.
- 1:08I decrease as you increase. And it's all about King Jesus.
- 1:13Help us show up and show off today.
- 1:17In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.
- 1:23Well, let's start in verse one. Wherefore, holy brothers,
- 1:29partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the apostle
- 1:34and high priest of our profession, Jesus Christ.
- 1:39Imagine this one little verse here.
- 1:43We can cherry pick it. We can pull it apart.
- 1:46It's an amazing nugget of truth encapsulated in syllables.
- 1:54We are holy because He is holy. We are his brothers as He is the
- 2:01elder brother. We are partakers of the heavenly
- 2:04calling. Imagine that we will rule and
- 2:08reign with Him, Friends, we will come back with Him after the
- 2:12seven years and rule and reign. We are partakers of the heavenly
- 2:18calling, and He has imputed unto us His righteousness.
- 2:23As we consider the apostle. He's the highest ambassador of
- 2:30God Almighty that this world has ever known.
- 2:34He's higher than any Angel. He's higher than Moses and
- 2:37Abraham. He's higher than the 12
- 2:40apostles. He's higher than Paul the
- 2:42apostle. It is Jesus the Apostle who is
- 2:46given the highest honor as an ambassador of God.
- 2:51He is our high priest. He's higher than any of the high
- 2:56priest that were implemented during the 12 tribes.
- 3:04He is higher than Melchizedek. He is the high priest of our
- 3:10faith, Christ Jesus too, who was faithful to him that appointed
- 3:19him as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
- 3:24So Jesus Christ was faithful to God.
- 3:27God sent him to earth to live a perfect life and die a
- 3:33criminal's death to rot for all of mankind, salvation and
- 3:40atonement and propitiation, friends, for all of our sins to
- 3:46be forgiven. And he was faithful to the last
- 3:51letter. He was faithful to the highest
- 3:54degree. He cannot scrutinize not one of
- 3:59his acts or words. He never had to ask for
- 4:03forgiveness or make an apology. He was perfect in all of his
- 4:08ways. And here the writer of Hebrews
- 4:13wants us to know that Jesus Christ is much higher than
- 4:17Moses. As good as Moses was in his
- 4:22office. Jesus Christ is much better, and
- 4:26we place our faith in Jesus and not in Moses and not in the law.
- 4:32Jesus fulfilled all of the law to the last letter. 3 For this
- 4:39man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he
- 4:45who has built the house has more honor than the house.
- 4:49Jesus Christ is the one who is building the house, and the
- 4:53house is the bride. The house is the church,
- 4:56friends. He's building it.
- 4:59And we can see here that as faithful as Moses was, he cannot
- 5:04even hold a candle to what Jesus Christ did and what he is doing
- 5:09and who he is. And Jesus Christ was fully man,
- 5:13He was fully God, and that is not anything that Moses could
- 5:17ever attain to, because Moses is not divinity.
- 5:21He was just a very obedient man unto God, and he walked his
- 5:27office out to the best of his abilities.
- 5:31But when he should have spoken to the rock, he struck it.
- 5:35And Jesus Christ never failed, not on one single test or
- 5:42syllable, not one iota. He was perfect and innocent.
- 5:51For for every house is built by some man, but he that built all
- 5:56things is God. Jesus Christ spoke, Jesus Christ
- 6:02is God and everything is hung on his words, friends.
- 6:07And he put the tapestry, He put the fabric of all of life and
- 6:13all sustenance in every single atom and molecule is hung on the
- 6:18Lord Jesus Christ's words. Five.
- 6:24And Moses truly was faithful in all his house as a servant for a
- 6:29testimony of those things which were to be spoken after.
- 6:33Jesus Christ is no servant, friends.
- 6:36He is the King of kings and the Lord of Lords.
- 6:41And you can see here that Moses was given a wonderful ministry,
- 6:46and he fulfilled it to the best of his abilities. 6 But Christ
- 6:51as a son over his own house, whose house are we, if we hold
- 6:59fast to the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto
- 7:06the end? There's a big if there.
- 7:11It's easy to start a race, but it is hard to finish it.
- 7:14And this is a call for all the recipients here, these new
- 7:18converts into the faith of Christianity from Judaism.
- 7:23And he's saying, if you will hold fast to the things that you
- 7:27have been taught about Jesus Christ as God, as Lord, and you
- 7:32do not go back to all of the Jewish customs, then you will
- 7:40inherit all of the promises. And we can see that Christ is a
- 7:47son and not a servant. 7 Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost
- 7:52says, today, if you will hear his voice.
- 7:56So we know that today is the day of salvation.
- 8:00We know that we can't live in the past, and we don't need to
- 8:03be fretful over the future. But today, if you woke up today,
- 8:08place your faith in Him today, friends.
- 8:11And if you get another day, place your faith in Him
- 8:14tomorrow. 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation in
- 8:20the day of temptation in the wilderness.
- 8:24So you need to understand that those that fall away were never
- 8:29truly His to begin with. They were just going all along
- 8:33with Jesus as long as He behaved in the way that they wanted Him
- 8:37and needed Him to. But when a fence came, and when
- 8:40the bird came and snatched the seed, they fell away.
- 8:45They hardened their hearts, because Jesus wasn't the God
- 8:49that they formed in their own minds. 9 When your Father's
- 8:54tempted me and proved me, and saw my works. 40 years.
- 8:59So you can see here this cloud by day, in this pillar of fire
- 9:03by night. You can see the Red Sea being
- 9:06parted, friends, in the water gushing from the rock, in the
- 9:09bitter waters, made sweet in the quail, in the manna, friends,
- 9:15and they still went back to their idol worship.
- 9:19And they murmured and grumbled, and were devoured by serpents,
- 9:25friends. And God said that they would not
- 9:28enter into his rest, save Joshua and Caleb.
- 9:439 When your father's tempted me and proved me, and they saw my
- 9:47works 40 years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that
- 9:52generation, and said, They do always air in their heart, and
- 9:57they have not known my ways. 11 So I swore in my wrath they
- 10:03shall not enter into my rest. 12 Take heed, brothers, lest there
- 10:08be any of you, an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the
- 10:13living God. That's the key, friends, is
- 10:16belief. This unbelief is a sign of
- 10:22somebody. In their wilful disobedience,
- 10:28they deny God Almighty. And it is not that God has not
- 10:35given them enough substance and proof of who He is.
- 10:42It is because they are steeped in idolatry.
- 10:46They are steeped in their own carnal earthly pleasures.
- 10:50They are steeped in their sinful behavior, and they love the
- 10:54world. And they loved evil more than
- 10:57they loved a loving God who only wanted what was best for them.
- 11:01This rest and this promised land, friends.
- 11:04And that is the mark of so many people who only want enough of
- 11:11God to not have to go to hell. And whenever there are things in
- 11:16this life that they pray the paint off the wall for and it
- 11:20doesn't happen, they fall away, friends.
- 11:25And it is because they were never his to begin with. 12 Take
- 11:36heed, brothers, lest there be any evil heart in you of
- 11:41unbelief and departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one
- 11:46another daily while it is called today, lest any of you be
- 11:52hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
- 11:57That's the call for us, friends, as we are our brother's keeper,
- 12:02we need to make sure that we are checking in on those who call
- 12:06themselves believers and making sure that they are not being
- 12:10deceived and buying into heretical teachings.
- 12:15And they're not just looking for these little sound bites in
- 12:19short videos that spoon feed them drops of poison every day
- 12:25that lead them astray in their theology and doctrine.
- 12:28It is by being rooted and grounded in God's Word that God
- 12:32will be pleased to give you sound doctrine and full counsel
- 12:36of who He is and what He's doing.
- 12:38It is by not calling any of these words into question.
- 12:42It is by believing every single syllable, every jot, and every
- 12:47title from Genesis to Revelation, that God will give
- 12:50you his mind and his plans for the ages. 14 For we are made
- 12:59partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence
- 13:05steadfast unto the end. There's another if, friends.
- 13:13If you think that you are standing, you just might be
- 13:16sinking. Friends, The little bit that you
- 13:19have will be taken from you. This is the call to every blood
- 13:27bought, born again believer to stay in the faith.
- 13:32Do not check out, do not compartmentalize, do not nail
- 13:38Jesus Christ back up on the cross.
- 13:43It is by trusting and believing in every single one of these
- 13:47words. It's by remaining in the faith
- 13:50even when persecution comes. It's by choosing God over this
- 13:54world every day. It's by choosing Jesus Christ
- 13:57over every relationship that you have in your life.
- 14:03It is by using all of your idle time to be sanctified and to
- 14:13choose every moment of every day to stay in prayer with Him.
- 14:18It is by choosing Him over everything, everyone, and every
- 14:24single experience. It's Jesus and Jesus alone that
- 14:30keeps us in the river of life. It will bring us to the end, and
- 14:35we will not grow faint, we will not grow weary, but we will
- 14:39mount up like eagles, and we will run friends, all the way to
- 14:44the end. 15 While it is said today, if you will hear his
- 14:53voice, harden not your hearts as in the provocation, today is the
- 14:59day of salvation. He has rest for you today.
- 15:02The rest that you can experience is in Jesus Christ.
- 15:07It's not in this world, it's not in your finances, it's not in
- 15:12your abilities, it's not in your vanity.
- 15:15Friends, the rest that you can find today, the peace of God and
- 15:19the peace with God is found in Christ Jesus.
- 15:25Do not harden your hearts, do not grow callous, do not grieve
- 15:30the Holy Spirit, friends, but keep that relationship vibrant
- 15:36as you keep your lamps full of the Holy Ghost. 16 For some,
- 15:45when they had heard did provoke. Howbeit, not all that came out
- 15:51of Egypt by Moses. So you got to understand all
- 15:56these Israelites getting LED out of captivity and out of bondage,
- 15:59and they get over the Red Sea and they start murmuring and
- 16:03making these golden calves and bowing down to worship and
- 16:07getting up to play. And now God left them in the
- 16:16wilderness and only let Joshua and Caleb taste the Promised
- 16:21land. And the next generation came in,
- 16:24but that first generation was left behind, engraves in the
- 16:29wilderness. And that is what is referenced
- 16:32here. Friends, we do not need to
- 16:35murmur and grumble. We don't need to make this about
- 16:39what it's not. This is not about prosperity and
- 16:43this is not about you. This is all about King Jesus. 17
- 16:50But with whom was he grieved 40 years?
- 16:55Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in
- 17:01the wilderness? 18th And to whom swore he that
- 17:05they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed
- 17:11not? That's the key here, friends, is
- 17:14belief. If you want to enter into the
- 17:17rest, you must believe all of the promises of God's Word.
- 17:23You must believe that God is. You must believe that Jesus
- 17:27Christ is able. You must believe that Jesus is
- 17:30the Son of God. You must believe that the blood
- 17:33of Jesus is enough. You must believe that there is
- 17:39eternity to come. You must believe friends in the
- 17:44Holy Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, and nothing added
- 17:49and nothing subtracted. We'll end on 19.
- 17:54So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
- 18:04There it is. We've got to do away with
- 18:08unbelief. We cannot let this world be the
- 18:13one that's steering the boat. We cannot allow unbelief to
- 18:18creep in. And it comes in through way of
- 18:21science and it comes in through way of our own strength and
- 18:29abilities. It comes in through ways of the
- 18:32love of Mammon. It comes in through the way of
- 18:38wanting this life in the next to come.
- 18:41It's comes in through the ways of questioning Jesus and
- 18:46questioning the Bible and questioning our existence and
- 18:54how we evolved. This is how unbelief comes in,
- 19:00friends, and we've got to stiff arm it.
- 19:03We've got to do away with all of the unnecessary distractions and
- 19:09build our entire life on the Word of God, and you will never
- 19:13be put to shame. Hope you've been blessed by this
- 19:16amazing chapter in God's Word. I know I sure have.
- 19:20I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 19:22I love you. We'll see you back here
- 19:24tomorrow. God bless you.
