- 0:27Welcome to the Pop Culture Junkie podcast.
- 0:29I'm Olivia here with my fellow junkies.
- 0:32- Nicole.
- 0:33- And Shauna.
- 0:35- So Nicole, Shauna, let's talk about
- 0:36what we're obsessed with this week.
- 0:38- Oh my God.
- 0:40Okay, I feel like a lot of the shows that I'm obsessed with
- 0:44finished up either their entire runs or their seasons.
- 0:50And I mentioned this a couple episodes ago
- 0:52and I was kind of saving it up.
- 0:54So I will do a quick little rundown.
- 0:57I know a lot of our listeners are probably obsessed
- 0:59with succession.
- 1:00I don't watch that.
- 1:02I don't know.
- 1:03It's on the list.
- 1:03Sorry, we're not gonna talk about it.
- 1:05So if everyone's like, "What are they talking about?"
- 1:06"Sexession."
- 1:07- That's why.
- 1:09Barry finished its entire series.
- 1:12And I feel like it's a pretty solid little ending.
- 1:17I feel like the ending of Barry kind of reminds me
- 1:20of the ending of Ozark, where I'm not gonna look
- 1:23at back on it years from now and be like,
- 1:25God, that was a good show.
- 1:26Just gonna be like, "That was pretty good."
- 1:28That's right.
- 1:29I don't know.
- 1:30I don't miss it week to week.
- 1:31The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel had a series finale.
- 1:34And I'm gonna, that's a show I'm gonna miss.
- 1:37That's a show I'm gonna miss week to week.
- 1:39Spoilers for the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in 321.
- 1:44I don't wanna spoil it too much
- 1:46'cause I really want you guys to watch it someday.
- 1:49But they do a lot of flash forwards.
- 1:51That final season, the show is set in the 60s
- 1:54so in the final episode, they cover what midge,
- 1:59Mrs. Maisel is up to throughout the rest of her life.
- 2:02So in the 70s, 80s, 90s.
- 2:04And you know, she gets everything she wants.
- 2:07She's absolutely famous beyond her wildest dreams.
- 2:11She is probably one of the most famous comedians
- 2:14in the world.
- 2:14She's rich, has this huge mansion.
- 2:18But in the very final episode, she's utterly alone.
- 2:21Her kids are estranged from her.
- 2:25She's divorced, never really remarry,
- 2:28never got really over her first husband.
- 2:30So it shows through her walking through this huge mansion.
- 2:34But it's empty.
- 2:35There's a huge dining room table,
- 2:37but there's no one sitting at it, right?
- 2:40And she has this call with her best friend
- 2:42in the entire world, who is also her manager
- 2:45at the very end.
- 2:46And they're both old ladies at this point.
- 2:48And the show ends with the two of them
- 2:50just making each other like giggle and laugh over the phone.
- 2:54And I was like, the whole theme of this show
- 2:57is just female friendship.
- 2:59She says at one point, like, I just,
- 3:01I don't know if I can be with anyone who doesn't make me laugh.
- 3:04And we think that she's talking about like a husband.
- 3:07It come to find out it was like her best friend.
- 3:10It was her best friend all along in the very end.
- 3:12They're just making each other giggle and laugh on the phone.
- 3:15Female friendship.
- 3:17Hashtag pop culture junkie podcast.
- 3:19Did her kids make her laugh?
- 3:20Is that why they're estranged?
- 3:23You know, Mitch, we're out this show.
- 3:25One of the funniest parts of the whole show.
- 3:28It's like a running joke.
- 3:29When then she's in the 60s,
- 3:30as you always kind of forget she has kids.
- 3:32Because they're like third, fourth string characters,
- 3:36where she's like, oh, yeah, I'm a kid.
- 3:38Yeah, someone else can watch those.
- 3:40And then this season finally kind of addresses that where
- 3:43it's a flash forward.
- 3:44And her kids are like, yeah, my mom was never there.
- 3:47The nanny raised us and we kind of see like the aftermath of that.
- 3:51That whole show is just amazing.
- 3:53And I definitely, from beginning to end, up your treat.
- 3:57So popping that, besides that,
- 4:01let's see, my husband and I watched all three episodes
- 4:04of the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary on Netflix.
- 4:07I really liked it.
- 4:08It breaks down like the three parts of Arnold's life, right?
- 4:11Like, episode one is he's an athlete.
- 4:15So he's a bodybuilder.
- 4:16And it talks about Mr. Olympia and all that good stuff.
- 4:20Episode two is the actor.
- 4:21So it's Arnold's life as being the most famous fucking actor
- 4:26in the world, right?
- 4:27In the 80s.
- 4:28And then part three is called the American.
- 4:32And it breaks down like him being the governor of California.
- 4:36And when it really goes back to back to back,
- 4:40it just kind of shows how absurd it was
- 4:45that this dude, he was just kind of like, oh, yeah.
- 4:49I just, oh my god, this is a terrible long time.
- 4:52I'm so sorry.
- 4:53Anyone from Austria is about to be so offended.
- 4:56OK, wait, after you get into it, I'll be back.
- 4:59OK, OK.
- 5:00I just want to be governor.
- 5:03I was actor.
- 5:04I was bodybuilder.
- 5:05I got bored.
- 5:06I need something new to do.
- 5:07He ran for governor because he was just like, why not?
- 5:10Why not?
- 5:11He was in a silly goofy mood.
- 5:13OK.
- 5:13He was in a silly goose summer, honestly.
- 5:16And he was just like, I guess I'll be governor.
- 5:19And he ran for governor.
- 5:20And he won.
- 5:22And I really respected how he was a Republican,
- 5:26but he was so centrist.
- 5:29And he worked with both sides.
- 5:31He brought in Democrats a lot.
- 5:33He was married to a candidate.
- 5:35And he brought in Republicans.
- 5:36He was from another country.
- 5:38So the whole time he was like, I just
- 5:39don't get why in this country no one talks to each other.
- 5:43Why in this country no one gets along?
- 5:46That's what I thought was awful.
- 5:47I'm not even here.
- 5:49And first, you're going to be like, you
- 5:51really missed an opportunity to be like a Z on American.
- 5:55But now I'm still American.
- 5:56Contrary no one gets along.
- 5:58That what was that?
- 5:59I don't know.
- 6:00You got like, you have my mystery pop accent, where
- 6:04I always say like, you never know.
- 6:06But I was trying to impersonate Blink 182 one night.
- 6:09Like, where are you?
- 6:11And it came out Russian.
- 6:13So sorry.
- 6:14OK.
- 6:15I'm just going to do Arnold.
- 6:16But it's going to be like British.
- 6:18OK, just get wine day when King get along all the time.
- 6:23In America, you're just for all the time.
- 6:25You sound like a folksy like newspaper boy in one of those movies
- 6:31where they're like, come get your paper.
- 6:34Here it is, Arnold's a governor.
- 6:37The governor likes us here.
- 6:39Governor?
- 6:40Every array.
- 6:41Get your pipe.
- 6:43Is that all right?
- 6:45But yeah, pop the Arnold documentary.
- 6:48And pop my realist, Mrs. Maisel.
- 6:50And I'm going to drop the idol, which Olivia forced me
- 6:53into watching while feeding me cheese.
- 6:56But I will let her talk about that.
- 7:00Yeah.
- 7:00So my obsession, I'm going to drop Shauna's Arnold Schwarzenegger
- 7:06accent.
- 7:06That's what we're going to drop first.
- 7:08That's a bullshit, yeah?
- 7:11In the pop culture junky group chat,
- 7:14I have been peer-pressuring everyone
- 7:16to watch the idols so far.
- 7:18Only Shauna has taken me up on the peer pressure.
- 7:21But Nicole is a little more strong.
- 7:23Because we both are.
- 7:25Yes, there were pickles and cheese involved.
- 7:28It's cooked, essentially.
- 7:30But I've been watching the idol quite a bit.
- 7:33I've been really interested in it since the Rolling Stone
- 7:37article came out about how there's essentially
- 7:40a adult torture film is what it was like on the screen,
- 7:45behind the scenes, and really kind of going
- 7:48into these dark, twisted fantasies of the weekend
- 7:50in Sam Leppinson.
- 7:52And at first, when I was hearing this,
- 7:54I was like, the older person in me was like, all those young
- 7:57ends, they're just so prudent.
- 8:00I watched it.
- 8:01I agree with them.
- 8:03It's quite sexual.
- 8:04There's good pieces of the plot.
- 8:07But it's on the screen for five minutes.
- 8:10And then the rest is like this weird music video
- 8:14that the weekend is putting on.
- 8:16And Lily Rose-Dept is just topless the whole time.
- 8:19It's-- I felt elderly watching it.
- 8:21I was like, I don't get--
- 8:25Listeners now.
- 8:26I like it when people do it.
- 8:29I like some on-screen porniness.
- 8:33And even I was like, I like goodness gracious.
- 8:36Calm down and put up some clothes.
- 8:38Yeah.
- 8:39What are they doing?
- 8:40I don't know.
- 8:41I don't know.
- 8:42Yeah.
- 8:42And I was really interested in it.
- 8:45So we've talked a little bit about Britney Spears
- 8:47and the Free Britney movement.
- 8:48And Britney was early attached to this project in 2019,
- 8:53posted on Instagram right when she was about to get out
- 8:55of this conservatorship.
- 8:56Well, I can't remember how long ago I don't know the time for.
- 8:59But essentially, all of a sudden, they dropped the main director.
- 9:04They had had six episodes already directed.
- 9:06And they fired this director, scrapped everything,
- 9:10and hired on Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria.
- 9:13And the weekend said that they made this decision
- 9:16because he didn't like that it was so much
- 9:18from the female point of view.
- 9:20It's about a female pop star who gets involved
- 9:23with a cult leader and taken advantage of it.
- 9:25Oh, that's her story.
- 9:26Think of the men.
- 9:29So it is really terrible.
- 9:32I'm going to keep watching it because I do want to see it through.
- 9:37But if it just becomes like this weird,
- 9:39the weekend doing porn and a music video,
- 9:42I'm probably not going to keep going.
- 9:44But it's unfortunate.
- 9:45I think Lily Rose-Dept does have some talent, potential.
- 9:49But she's acting along with someone with a weird rap
- 9:52tale who's also never acted before.
- 9:56So I'm going to drop that one for now.
- 9:58But that's how I felt about it, too.
- 10:01It was just-- it was very pretentious.
- 10:05And the dialogue didn't really make sense from the first episode
- 10:09that I saw.
- 10:11There-- I guess trying to be sexy with each other,
- 10:15they're at her house.
- 10:16And she's like having a cocktail,
- 10:18kind of rubbing this glass I grab on her skin, which I guess
- 10:21could be kind of hot.
- 10:22But they're talking about her music career.
- 10:26And he goes, this is the first time
- 10:28you've recorded since your mom died.
- 10:31She's like, yeah.
- 10:33I don't think--
- 10:34was that supposed to be hot?
- 10:39As a member of the #DeadMomsClone, that would not turn me on.
- 10:43I'm sorry.
- 10:45But I'm going to go cry now.
- 10:46Thank you.
- 10:47I need a tissue for another reason.
- 10:50Thanks for bringing up my deceased parent.
- 10:53You can help yourself out.
- 10:56And I'm just going to go ahead and finish this drink.
- 10:59I might know.
- 10:59Thank you for bringing up my trauma.
- 11:01But she's like into it.
- 11:03Yeah, it was.
- 11:04It's really deep to me.
- 11:06And the lyrics of the song are like, I'm a freak.
- 11:09I'm a freak.
- 11:10Let's do it.
- 11:11I'm a freak.
- 11:12If she's like, it's really deep.
- 11:13You need money to sleep with me.
- 11:15Yeah, it's so deep.
- 11:18So--
- 11:19It's a first song she wrote since her mom died.
- 11:21Very meaningful.
- 11:22We're going to drop it down low.
- 11:24We're not going to officially drop it just yet.
- 11:26But the other one that I am going to pop for the week
- 11:29is shiny, happy people.
- 11:31It's the Dugger documentary about their FLDS--
- 11:36The Quipper Felt Movement.
- 11:38Yeah, it's like the IBL something.
- 11:41And so it was a four-part documentary.
- 11:43It was really, really good.
- 11:45They talk about how they've had this strategic approach,
- 11:48not just in that sect, but evangelicalism in general,
- 11:52how they've really been trying to take over the governments,
- 11:55the police departments, and all of these decision-making entities.
- 12:00So it's really, really interesting.
- 12:02One thing that I think they could have done a better job
- 12:06and not necessarily like every kid is out of it
- 12:08is Ginger Dugger is still very much involved
- 12:11in this semi-culti aspect of evangelicalism.
- 12:17And they don't really press her on that at all.
- 12:19They make her the front-end center individual in the documentary,
- 12:23talking about everything that happened.
- 12:25But they were obviously focusing on the abuse
- 12:27that happened both in the church and at the hands of her brother.
- 12:31So you kind of want to keep it in one direction.
- 12:34But I would definitely pop that.
- 12:35If you haven't dug into the Duggers,
- 12:38maybe you saw them on the news because of Josh.
- 12:41It was really, really good.
- 12:42They go into the abuse, what the family did,
- 12:45what the church did to cover it off.
- 12:47They talk about Josh.
- 12:48Yeah, they talk about all the stuff because the church
- 12:51essentially knew when it happened when he was 12.
- 12:54And they sent him to go build this house in a camp to cure him.
- 13:00And when he got bad words, he was not cured, obviously.
- 13:04And so they just talk a lot about how that religion breeds it.
- 13:08Because whenever you get abused or assaulted,
- 13:12trigger warning here, they say that you attracted it as a woman.
- 13:19And so you showed your ankles so you deserve to be molested
- 13:23as a child, right?
- 13:24What did you do?
- 13:25And it's very, very dark.
- 13:27And you know, they kind of talk about all that.
- 13:29But if you can handle it, if you're in the right headspace,
- 13:32I would definitely recommend it because it's happening.
- 13:36Where's that streaming on?
- 13:38That's on my list.
- 13:39Amazon Prime.
- 13:41OK.
- 13:42Josh, it just really disgusts me how they gave the Doug
- 13:47or such a platform for their show.
- 13:49And I mean, in the beginning, it just, you know, 17, 18, 19,
- 13:5518 kids in counting.
- 13:56And it was supposed to just kind of be seen as like,
- 13:58oh my god, this family's so silly and fun.
- 14:01And they have so many kids.
- 14:03Like, no, like, they have this unique kid.
- 14:08We just laugh every day, thank.
- 14:10No, they're in a religious call.
- 14:12And these girls are being abused.
- 14:15And this is not OK.
- 14:17And they shouldn't have had that platform all those years.
- 14:20But you know, it was just so wildly popular.
- 14:23And yeah, I'm going to watch that.
- 14:26I'm going to watch that after we stop recording.
- 14:28I have to go, you guys.
- 14:29Thank you.
- 14:30Here's our links by SHU and HIR.
- 14:34Yeah.
- 14:35If you guys check it out, let's turn your eyes
- 14:37for this new year's thoughts, it's definitely a conversation
- 14:40to go on for on and on.
- 14:42Now, Nicole, what have you been obsessed with this week?
- 14:45What I've been obsessed with is TikTok, just because my feed.
- 14:52My feed has just been straight up Vanderpump Girls reunion stuff.
- 14:56Oh my god.
- 14:57That has literally all it has been.
- 15:00Let's go watch a single episode of VPR.
- 15:04And I cannot tell you how long ever since Stasi was on it.
- 15:08And I don't know how long she's been gone off of it.
- 15:10And it's been quite some time since I've actually watched it.
- 15:14And I could tell you everything that's been happening.
- 15:16I know all the drama and everything, yes, because of TikTok.
- 15:19And so I've been obsessed with VPR TikTok.
- 15:22I know that.
- 15:23Yes, I love it.
- 15:24Not a show or anything.
- 15:25But it's so much fun.
- 15:27I'm obsessed with that.
- 15:28Yeah.
- 15:29I think you can get away with just watching on TikTok.
- 15:33It's really kind of just swept the nation.
- 15:35I mean, man, that t-shirt comment, everyone was like, so--
- 15:42I want to know.
- 15:43Tell me the t-shirt.
- 15:44OK, back it up context.
- 15:45If you don't know what happened with VPR, the--
- 15:49Somebody cheated on somebody.
- 15:51I guess that.
- 15:52Yeah.
- 15:52So Tom Shamball cheated.
- 15:54The worm with the mustache.
- 15:55She did.
- 15:55Yes.
- 15:56The showrunner that has been on there for about 10 seasons,
- 16:00almost 10 years of their life.
- 16:02He cheated on his long-term partner, basically,
- 16:05like a common law marriage.
- 16:07And what he did was he cheated on her with her best friend.
- 16:12And she hit it from all their friends, hit it from the show.
- 16:15The producers didn't know.
- 16:17Basically, it came out--
- 16:18She did it from the show.
- 16:19Yeah, the producers did not know.
- 16:21And so when the show ended filming, it came out.
- 16:24And she found a video of them facetime sexy timing.
- 16:31And she'd put it out to the entire world.
- 16:34And so three weeks later, after this news breaks,
- 16:37they have to go in and film this reunion
- 16:40as part of their contract.
- 16:41And of course, Tom Sandivall and Raquel
- 16:44are getting brutally bludgeoned as they deserve
- 16:48and yelled at by these individuals.
- 16:51And they're asking, Tom, have you slept with anyone else
- 16:56since you've been with Raquel?
- 16:57And Ariana goes, yeah, he's been with me.
- 17:01And under his breath, like the slimy little worm that he is,
- 17:04he goes, yeah, and she kept her t-shirt on.
- 17:07It was so sexy.
- 17:08You--
- 17:09Whoa.
- 17:10[LAUGHTER]
- 17:12And this is in front of his girlfriend
- 17:14that he cheated on.
- 17:15And he had to let slip what he thought was hot.
- 17:17Well, Ariana is a girlfriend.
- 17:19Yeah, Ariana is a girlfriend.
- 17:20This is in front of the camera.
- 17:22This is on the stage at reunions.
- 17:26What a slime ball she is.
- 17:29And then two afterwards, everything has come out now.
- 17:33Ariana is the one that wore the t-shirt.
- 17:35And Raquel is the one that he cheated on with,
- 17:37aka the best friend.
- 17:39Sandivall is the scum on the piece of the earth.
- 17:42And after the t-shirt comment came out,
- 17:45all the girls on Vanderpump were going to PR events
- 17:49and stuff like that, just wearing t-shirts with tights
- 17:52on underneath.
- 17:53Yeah, it just slaps on the t-shirts.
- 17:55And it's hot.
- 17:56And then she has a sandwich shop coming out,
- 17:59and she's been making merch and all of this.
- 18:02And it's this picture--
- 18:04it's like in kind of like a scream-o band writing.
- 18:08And it says, "F me in this t-shirt."
- 18:11And it's just so good.
- 18:13And yeah, I'm buying one, because it's just, of course, I am.
- 18:16I don't know if that.
- 18:17Yeah, so they made a million dollars off of the merch
- 18:21that they've sold.
- 18:22And their business has not even opened yet.
- 18:25Wow.
- 18:26What?
- 18:27So I wish we could get that way with pop culture junky.
- 18:29Let's sell them those t-shirts, yo.
- 18:32New t-shirts coming out, million dollars.
- 18:34Just started cheating on them.
- 18:35So other than Vanderpump TikTok, which I am also sucked
- 18:39in obsessed with, what else have we been, you know,
- 18:42falling into the FYP on?
- 18:44Yeah, no, I haven't been watching much.
- 18:46I mean, I guess I've been obsessed with Rahal's
- 18:48Exhibition of New Jersey reunion.
- 18:50You're always obsessed with that, though.
- 18:52Yeah, it's crazy.
- 18:53I believe Theresa needs to be done with the show.
- 18:55I can't stand her anymore.
- 18:56I used to be one of her biggest supporters.
- 18:59I thought she needed to be on the show,
- 19:01because she wasn't OG.
- 19:02I thought she brought a lot to the show.
- 19:04But now, after the reunion and the season,
- 19:08I'm like, she just needs to go.
- 19:09Louis is scum.
- 19:11I do not like him.
- 19:13He is not good for her at all.
- 19:16He's just freaking the bad out of everybody.
- 19:19He's literally hired a private investigator
- 19:21to get dirt on everybody that's on the show.
- 19:24Like, who does that?
- 19:25Can I ask a question?
- 19:26Yeah.
- 19:27How does one become a real housewife of Phil in the blank?
- 19:33Do you have to be very rich or your married
- 19:36to a celebrity and you don't have a job?
- 19:39Because if I think housewife, it means like,
- 19:43I don't have a job, but my husband does.
- 19:46Yeah, you marry rich.
- 19:48OK, your husband's a rich one.
- 19:51And all of these housewives, all of these ladies,
- 19:54it's just the lives of all of these very rich women
- 19:57with too much time and money.
- 20:00Basically, yes.
- 20:01So basically, they marry rich and then eventually,
- 20:03they become so famous themselves that they open up either
- 20:06like their own business or become social media influencers
- 20:09that they have their own brand deals.
- 20:11And then they end up getting their own money that way.
- 20:14But basically--
- 20:15I mean, that sounds amazing.
- 20:17Yeah, honestly.
- 20:18Or they commit crime.
- 20:20Yeah.
- 20:21Also, that sounds amazing.
- 20:23That sounds amazing.
- 20:25The rich do crime.
- 20:26Like, Teresa was the pioneer.
- 20:30I am here for my future job just being like, yeah,
- 20:35that's Shanna, turn it at.
- 20:36Like, oh, yeah, no, she married Rich.
- 20:38No, she just does crime.
- 20:41Like, that's incredible.
- 20:43And I get to be on a television show.
- 20:45OK.
- 20:45Yeah.
- 20:46Well, if you're Jen Shaw or Teresa Dudeis,
- 20:49you will end up in jail.
- 20:52If you're Erica Jane, you'll be just fine.
- 20:55Or now Kim Beermann.
- 20:57Yeah, true.
- 20:58I'll be fine.
- 21:00[LAUGHTER]
- 21:03I love it.
- 21:04Well, color.
- 21:04Like, crime.
- 21:06I expect an update, a psychological analysis,
- 21:11and all the notes.
- 21:12Next time, we record.
- 21:14Because I love to hear it.
- 21:16I'm like you with Vanderpump.
- 21:18I like that quick synopsis.
- 21:20I want to know what's going on.
- 21:21But yeah, I don't know if it can handle
- 21:23that yelling from both Vanderpump and New Jersey.
- 21:26Like, that was a lot in my soul.
- 21:29You got it.
- 21:30So unless you've been living under a rock in 2023,
- 21:38you've probably seen the internet explode
- 21:40with this discussion of nepotism.
- 21:42This discourse has predominantly
- 21:44been aimed at Hollywood and the numerous hot actors
- 21:47of today that have some connection
- 21:49to fame through their family tree.
- 21:51While this concept of nepotism babies
- 21:54making it in Hollywood is nothing new,
- 21:57the discussion of its fairness is somewhat
- 21:59of a new phenomenon, specifically on TikTok.
- 22:02Just so for our listeners, if you don't know what a nepotism
- 22:07is, it's the practice among those
- 22:09with the power or influence, favoring their relatives
- 22:13or friends, especially by giving them jobs
- 22:15or other benefits.
- 22:17Thus, this nepotism or nepotbaby term
- 22:21is generally seen as a derogatory term
- 22:24referring to someone who has received advantages or benefits
- 22:28due to their connections versus the merits.
- 22:31So a lot of the time we've heard this about some of the top people
- 22:35who are coming up, the hot women of today,
- 22:38I feel generally it's been aimed at women.
- 22:42But I just wanted to kind of start this off
- 22:44in our discussion around nepotism and what
- 22:46we're going to get into today with maybe some nepotism babies
- 22:49that you weren't aware of, right?
- 22:52The nepotism babies of our past.
- 22:54That would include people like Julia Roberts, Tracey Ellis
- 22:57Ross, Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal.
- 23:00See, and that is shocking to me.
- 23:03Like a lot of them are obvious, and we hear a lot about them.
- 23:07Willow and like Jayden Smith.
- 23:09But like Julia Roberts, OK.
- 23:11No, I love them.
- 23:13Yeah, I did think this story surprises to me.
- 23:15We're Nicholas Cage, George Clooney, and Jennifer Aniston.
- 23:21George Clooney, I didn't know he was a nepotbaby.
- 23:24Who's he related to?
- 23:25His father was a really famous news anchor.
- 23:30That's fascinating.
- 23:31OK.
- 23:32Yeah.
- 23:33See, and yeah, stuff like that.
- 23:34OK, Rosemary Clooney, interesting.
- 23:38Some of them-- and I don't know.
- 23:40We think of George Clooney, and we think, oh, he made it
- 23:42absolutely on his own.
- 23:44Same with Jennifer Aniston.
- 23:46At what point do you stop being a nepotbaby if your fame
- 23:51eclipses that of your parents?
- 23:54Does that mean maybe you're not a nepotbaby anymore?
- 23:57Maybe when you first got started, you had that name association.
- 24:00But if you're more famous than them,
- 24:02then I don't know.
- 24:04People kind of stop seeing you as, oh, Johnny Depp's daughter
- 24:08with like, Lily Rose or her co-beings daughter,
- 24:12like Frances Bean, you know, you're like, oh, that's
- 24:14George Clooney.
- 24:15I know that's interesting.
- 24:16I've never actually thought about that.
- 24:19Celebrities with famous parents who have talent, who have a claim.
- 24:24I guess a claim is a better word than talent,
- 24:27because they're recognized as great actors
- 24:30or great at their craft.
- 24:33Like, where is that threshold in the industry?
- 24:37Yeah.
- 24:38Or I guess public perception.
- 24:40I'm looking at a list of like famous nepotbaby's right now.
- 24:44Nicole Richie.
- 24:46And Sanosa.
- 24:48Oh, my God.
- 24:49I love her.
- 24:50Honestly, what is she good at?
- 24:52I don't really know, but I love her.
- 24:54Yeah.
- 24:55What's her fashion designer now?
- 24:57Yeah, she's.
- 25:00What's her brand called?
- 25:01No clue.
- 25:02It's called-- See, there it is.
- 25:04Sanosa.
- 25:05Yeah, exactly.
- 25:06So, baby, so Lion Richie is her dad.
- 25:09Hello.
- 25:10Is it me?
- 25:10You're looking for-- yes, it is.
- 25:12Nicole Richie's brand.
- 25:13I'm looking for you.
- 25:15Can't find it.
- 25:16Can't find it.
- 25:17Can't find it.
- 25:18Emma Roberts is Julia Roberts' niece.
- 25:20I feel like she's made a pretty good career for herself, though.
- 25:24I mean, you know just from the last name,
- 25:27and she does look a lot like Julia Roberts.
- 25:29But at the same time, she's been in a lot of stuff
- 25:33where she's kind of carved out that name for herself, you know?
- 25:38Yeah.
- 25:40You know, I think it's really interesting,
- 25:43the public perception and discussion around it.
- 25:47To your points, is it when they have a certain amount of acclaim
- 25:52in the industry that they remove themselves from that label?
- 25:55Or is it more that they acknowledge their privilege
- 26:00and then move on from it?
- 26:02Nicole, what's your take on that?
- 26:05That's a good question.
- 26:06I feel like some celebrities kind of bank on the fact
- 26:11that they grew up with people famous enough
- 26:14to help them pave the way for their careers,
- 26:17but then others want to make a name for themselves.
- 26:20But like some people don't want to be associated with their parents
- 26:23in that career because they want to make a name for themselves
- 26:27rather than kind of growing up and be like, well,
- 26:30I made my career for me not because of who my parent is.
- 26:33I did this career because I worked hard enough for myself
- 26:37and I put the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears
- 26:40because I worked hard enough to get to this point
- 26:42not because my parent is XYZ.
- 26:46So I don't know.
- 26:46I feel like these people want to work and do it for themselves
- 26:50rather than because of who their parent is.
- 26:52But kind of going off of the list that we were looking at,
- 26:57I think maybe we were looking at the same list,
- 26:59I don't know.
- 27:00But I just want your guys to be opinion on people who claim.
- 27:05They are quote, "Nepo babies that I don't think they are
- 27:10is the Kardashian gender kids."
- 27:15Oh, I think they're Nepo babies for sure.
- 27:18How?
- 27:19There's no reason that any of these people should be famous
- 27:24on this list.
- 27:25Okay, first of all, like not like the kids
- 27:28of Kim, they're all, I think they're all Nepo babies.
- 27:32I mean Kim and Courtney and Chloe,
- 27:34their father was all what Robert Kardashian.
- 27:38- The OG was the famous OJ lawyer.
- 27:40- That's true, I forget.
- 27:41- Yeah, and I mean in the 90s, that was entertainment.
- 27:46- That's true.
- 27:48- That's just it is.
- 27:48- Yeah, it was televised everyday.
- 27:50- Mm-hmm.
- 27:51I mean even as a child, you know,
- 27:54and yeah, like Nicole, it was,
- 27:56God, I don't, you might have, if you were even alive,
- 28:00yet you were fresh out the womb.
- 28:02(laughing)
- 28:03That shit was like, I remember talking about the OJ trial
- 28:06when I was in kindergarten.
- 28:07Like that's how I know it's all whole.
- 28:10I literally went to kindergarten one day.
- 28:13And I remember our teacher going,
- 28:16it was, it's probably so inappropriate in hindsight.
- 28:18She's like, do you guys think that OJ is guilty or innocent
- 28:22and that she took like a poll on the chalkboard?
- 28:25- Yeah, and we're all like, baby.
- 28:28- Don't you?
- 28:29- You don't fucking know.
- 28:30- They're just like, parody.
- 28:31- We're just what the parents say.
- 28:32- Yeah.
- 28:33- But I mean even tripling down.
- 28:35So the only reason that Kylie and Kindle are famous
- 28:40is because the ones before them are famous.
- 28:42- Well, no.
- 28:43- No, their father's Bruce Jenner,
- 28:45or it was Bruce Jenner, sorry.
- 28:46- Yeah, Kate.
- 28:47- That's true.
- 28:48- He allows to be dead named before, but Caitlin.
- 28:51- Yeah, yeah.
- 28:53- Yeah, so Caitlin Jenner,
- 28:54we're gonna call her by her name and--
- 28:57- No, you're totally right.
- 28:58- Trans individuals.
- 28:59So they're famous because Caitlin Jenner,
- 29:02it's their father.
- 29:03- That is exactly what it means.
- 29:05- You look at Brody Jenner,
- 29:06that's why he's famous, right?
- 29:08We was in it because of Caitlin.
- 29:10So yeah, I would say if Chris did not marry Caitlin,
- 29:15I don't know if the Kardashians would have had that much
- 29:18of like a poll because Caitlin really helped
- 29:21then continue that level of fame post trial.
- 29:26So I would kind of agree with that.
- 29:28- I totally agree.
- 29:30I think Tina Cole's point that there are some quote,
- 29:34"Nepo babies who do carve out this own kind of niche for themselves,
- 29:39especially if they change their names
- 29:41or try to distance themselves."
- 29:43But when I respect them the most,
- 29:45and when I respect anybody really is when they
- 29:48realize their own privilege.
- 29:51So if somebody's able to be like,
- 29:53"You know what, yeah, I got this audition
- 29:56because my last name is blah blah blah."
- 29:59I got my own TV show and I got an audition with Disney
- 30:02because my last name is Cyrus.
- 30:04You know?
- 30:06And like you admit it,
- 30:08then I'm able to be like,
- 30:10"All right, I respect that."
- 30:12And I'm willing to put more stake into you
- 30:15and you're like, "You know what, yeah,
- 30:17my parents are famous and I get that,
- 30:19that helped me get my foot in the door."
- 30:21Period.
- 30:22And also I am talented and I'm gonna try to prove to you
- 30:26that I deserve to be here.
- 30:29If they're just like, "So, who cares who my parents are?"
- 30:33I'm famous anyway.
- 30:34I'm like, shut up.
- 30:36Like acknowledge that like any regular Joe Schmo off the street
- 30:41wouldn't have had the same chance of that audition.
- 30:43Like Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid, I'm sorry.
- 30:46You wouldn't have had that same chance
- 30:48with all of this stuff if your parents were famous.
- 30:50You wouldn't have.
- 30:52That doesn't mean that you're not beautiful and talented
- 30:54but you at least acknowledge that it helped you
- 30:56break through that first audition,
- 30:58which is sometimes the hardest part
- 31:00is like even going to that first audition
- 31:02or getting that first job.
- 31:04Get a map call back, yeah.
- 31:06And you know too, while I was doing research
- 31:08for this episode, you know,
- 31:10I was really looking at it, okay,
- 31:12why are these perceptions of certain nepotism babies
- 31:16so bad and others are so good?
- 31:18And you know, I want to first start about some of these
- 31:21nepotism babies who have acknowledged their privilege
- 31:25and done it well.
- 31:26And I think it kind of speaks to why people don't refer
- 31:29to them as nepotism babies or think of them as nepotism babies
- 31:33because they acknowledged it and they moved on.
- 31:35So I think Jamie Lee Curtis is a really, really great example
- 31:39in this her parents were in Psycho and some like at Hot
- 31:43really famous old movies.
- 31:45And she was quoted saying, you know,
- 31:48it's important for me given that I'm this bougie princess
- 31:51from Los Angeles, even if I claimed I worked hard,
- 31:54I've never really worked a hard day in my life.
- 31:57She told that to the New Yorker in December, 2019.
- 32:00Allison Williams, she's from Girls.
- 32:03She also said, there's no conversation about my career
- 32:06without talking about the ways in which I have been fortunate.
- 32:10If you trust your own skill,
- 32:11I think it becomes very simple to acknowledge.
- 32:14And I really loved the way that she said that, right?
- 32:18Acknowledging it and moving on.
- 32:20And then, you know, we've said a few of these in the episode,
- 32:23but you know, Lily Rose Depp, she's a famous nepot baby.
- 32:27She's been really associated with this term.
- 32:30And I almost kind of blame it on this quote
- 32:33and like putting herself in this process.
- 32:35I don't rate it to you guys and we're kind of talk about it
- 32:37more after, but Lily Rose Depp told L,
- 32:41it just doesn't make any sense.
- 32:42If somebody's mom or dad is a doctor, then the kid becomes a doctor.
- 32:46You're not going to be like, you're only a doctor
- 32:48because your parent is a doctor.
- 32:49It's like, no, I went to medical school and trained.
- 32:52And like the irony of that is like, okay, well,
- 32:56you would have had to get into that medical school.
- 32:58And if your dad was, if your parent was a legacy parent,
- 33:02you would have been much more likely to be accepted to that.
- 33:05And so she kind of started this whole explosion,
- 33:09but that's really where I think it's,
- 33:11you got to acknowledge it and let people move on and say it humbly.
- 33:15And if you don't, this is what's going to be stuck with you.
- 33:18I totally agree.
- 33:19And you're going to be more likely to afford to get into medical school
- 33:22and attend it if your parents are also not.
- 33:26Yeah.
- 33:27And if your parents are making a donation to the school
- 33:30or if they're going to write you a letter,
- 33:32you have that name recognition.
- 33:34And there's absolutely nothing wrong with admitting it.
- 33:38And at the end of the day, people are going to respect you.
- 33:41I mean, it's so far off of the track,
- 33:45but like my dad worked at the Arizona Republic,
- 33:49like the biggest newspaper in Arizona for 30 years.
- 33:53And so when it came time for me to like find an internship,
- 33:58honestly, I used the connections that I had
- 34:01and having the same last name as my dad
- 34:04who was like well known there,
- 34:06really helped me get an internship there.
- 34:08And I walked around there like, yep.
- 34:11I'm Lonnie's daughter.
- 34:12Listen, I know.
- 34:13I know that's why I'm here.
- 34:15So I'm a, I'm a never-baking person.
- 34:19That's acknowledged my Arizona Republic privilege.
- 34:23Oh my God, I don't even work there anymore.
- 34:25You should.
- 34:26But you, you acknowledge the connections that you get.
- 34:30And that is how a lot of people get jobs.
- 34:31You know, you get to know those connections.
- 34:33But God, being rich and famous and just privileged like that,
- 34:38like God just, I don't know, own up to it.
- 34:41Are you just cringe and I hate you?
- 34:43Yeah.
- 34:44That honestly just reminds me of like,
- 34:46hopefully I could talk about this.
- 34:47I mean, I'm out of my sorority, but being an sorority,
- 34:51like when you're going through recruitment,
- 34:52if you're a mother or father,
- 34:54I don't know if it's the same for fraternities,
- 34:56but if your mother was in the sorority,
- 34:58you are basically guaranteed a,
- 35:01a spot in for the sorority.
- 35:03You're basically guaranteed an invitation
- 35:05to join that sorority because your mother was in that sorority.
- 35:08Yeah.
- 35:09So it's basically, I mean, it's not the same thing,
- 35:11but it is.
- 35:12You cannot be denied in that sorority
- 35:14because your mother was in that sorority kind of thing.
- 35:17So it's basically the same thing, I guess.
- 35:20Like a seed thing.
- 35:21Yeah.
- 35:22I mean, unless, you know, your mom lit the sorority house and find her,
- 35:28then they're gonna let you with that.
- 35:31Exactly.
- 35:32That would be sick, by the way.
- 35:33Yeah.
- 35:34[LAUGHTER]
- 35:36Yeah.
- 35:36I think that's why it's so interesting,
- 35:38this discourse in 2023 because it's kind of in the practice
- 35:43of the world and rich people keep other people red, right?
- 35:48And their families and that growth and wealth
- 35:50continues to grow that.
- 35:52Now, while we've talked a little bit about our thoughts
- 35:59on depotism babies and the discussion on the internet,
- 36:03we're going to do something a little bit different today.
- 36:05We're going to get a little goofy over here.
- 36:09A little silly goofy summer.
- 36:11Silly goofy mood, you know?
- 36:12We're going to get a little kooky.
- 36:14And what we're going to do today is a little game
- 36:17I have coined called NEPO Baby Apocalypse Car.
- 36:22And we're going to pick four depotism babies
- 36:26that were throwing in our little safety car.
- 36:29We're taking them to greener pastures in the apocalypse.
- 36:33And the rest, we're leaving them exposed to the elements.
- 36:37Now, I want to be able to appear into your psyche a little bit.
- 36:41So we're also going to make the case as to why that NEPO baby
- 36:47deserves a spot in the car versus those other NEPO babies.
- 36:51We're going to put it right back at him.
- 36:54I love it.
- 36:55I love him.
- 36:55Some of these reasons are going to be very shallow, by the way.
- 36:58I love it.
- 36:59It's your apocalypse.
- 37:00Very selfish.
- 37:00You're living it, baby, you know?
- 37:02That's right.
- 37:03And we're all the drivers.
- 37:04So we're in the car with the apocalypse.
- 37:06We're in the car.
- 37:06There's no more society who's going to judge you.
- 37:09It's just for NEPO to some babies now.
- 37:12OK.
- 37:13[LAUGHTER]
- 37:15So I'll save mine for a last, but I'll let one of you two start.
- 37:21Nicole, you start.
- 37:22OK.
- 37:23So yeah, some of the driver driving like crazy NASCAR driver
- 37:28made trying to get us out of the apocalypse.
- 37:32So in my passenger seat--
- 37:33Cream on the inside.
- 37:34Cream on the outside.
- 37:35[LAUGHTER]
- 37:38In my passenger seat, I got Miss Miley Cyrus.
- 37:42Oh, love it.
- 37:43This isn't my reason, but the reason why she's
- 37:45in my passenger seat is because I think Miss Cyrus
- 37:47would be the best in my car on OX.
- 37:50I think she's really playing some bangers
- 37:52as we're all risking our lives to get out of this apocalypse.
- 37:56I also wrote a little description as to how she is
- 37:59for all four of my people.
- 38:01I wrote a little description how this person is a NEPO baby.
- 38:04NEPO baby.
- 38:05Love it.
- 38:05NEPO.
- 38:06NEPO.
- 38:07NEPO.
- 38:07Let's say NEPO.
- 38:08NEPO.
- 38:09Yeah, NEPO.
- 38:09NEPO Paula, tonight's cream.
- 38:12NEPO baby.
- 38:13That's great.
- 38:14NEPO.
- 38:15NEPO baby.
- 38:16NEPO baby.
- 38:17So she is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus,
- 38:20who is an American country singer who
- 38:22is best known for his hit, "Aiki Breakie Heart."
- 38:25Love that song.
- 38:25So the reason why I saved her is because she's
- 38:29Hannah Montana.
- 38:30Yeah, she is my girl.
- 38:32You were such a good two people.
- 38:34Yeah, right.
- 38:35You get Hannah and I.
- 38:36I'm the best of both worlds in the call.
- 38:39I love her.
- 38:40She's been my A1s and Stay1s since I can remember.
- 38:43She's the baby.
- 38:44The face.
- 38:45I love my way of saying it.
- 38:46She's the face of Disney, so I'm obsessed with her.
- 38:49I really don't have a reason.
- 38:51Don't really need a reason for love, baby.
- 38:53Yeah.
- 38:54She's talented and badass.
- 38:56She's got that raspy voice.
- 38:59Yeah.
- 39:00Again, she'd be good on ox, so that's my reason.
- 39:03Yeah.
- 39:04Love it.
- 39:05I'm going to say my most controversial one for last.
- 39:07So we're going to scare the person right now.
- 39:10I believe in my backseat.
- 39:13We are going to have Miss Jennifer Aniston.
- 39:16Oh.
- 39:17I know we mentioned before that some of you didn't know she was a NEPO baby, but I actually
- 39:20did.
- 39:21I did.
- 39:22I did.
- 39:23What I mean, I don't think we're surprised that I knew that.
- 39:25And how she is your mother.
- 39:28Yeah.
- 39:29Yeah.
- 39:30How she is one is that her dad, John Aniston, is actually a Greek born American actor who played
- 39:35in Days of Our Lives, which is ironic because in the show Friends, the best friend Joey plays
- 39:43Dr. Dr. Dirk Ramori on Days of Our Lives.
- 39:45It goes all the way to the top.
- 39:47Yeah.
- 39:48So kind of funny, actually, how that just kind of plays around.
- 39:52But again, I don't think I really need an explanation of why I would say for sure she's my favorite
- 39:56actress in the world.
- 39:58So she's coming with me.
- 40:00We're just going to have vibes in the cold.
- 40:02Yeah.
- 40:03It's a whole vibe with the odds.
- 40:05Yeah.
- 40:06I don't think I really need an explanation.
- 40:07Yeah.
- 40:08I feel like she would just be like a motherly figure too.
- 40:11So like if you just need comfort or something, she would be there to help you in that time.
- 40:16She'd be like a herring.
- 40:18Yeah.
- 40:19But on the snacks too, she'd be the snack person when you need food.
- 40:23She'd be like that person to unwrap your burger and hand it to you kind of thing.
- 40:26If you know what I mean, like she's that person in the car to give you the snack, she's my snack
- 40:30queen.
- 40:31Yeah, for sure.
- 40:32Okay.
- 40:33What do you think her snack is?
- 40:35Her snack is probably, you know, if you go on Pinterest and just search Jennifer Aniston's
- 40:40salad, it's that.
- 40:42Oh, yeah.
- 40:43I feel like I don't know.
- 40:44And it's basically.
- 40:45And that's what I've heard.
- 40:46And I think that's what I've heard.
- 40:47I think I've heard.
- 40:48And that's what I've heard.
- 40:49And that's what I've heard.
- 40:50And that's what I've heard.
- 40:51And that's what I've heard.
- 40:52And that's what I've heard.
- 40:53And that's what I've heard.
- 40:54And that's what I've heard.
- 40:55And that's what I've heard.
- 40:56And that's what I've heard.
- 40:57And that's what I've heard.
- 40:58And that's what I've heard.
- 40:59And that's what I've heard.
- 41:00And that's what I've heard.
- 41:01And that's what I've heard.
- 41:02And that's what I've heard.
- 41:03And that's what I've heard.
- 41:04And that's what I've heard.
- 41:05And that's what I've heard.
- 41:06And that's what I've heard.
- 41:07And that's what I've heard.
- 41:08And that's what I've heard.
- 41:09And that's what I've heard.
- 41:10And that's what I've heard.
- 41:11And that's what I've heard.
- 41:12And that's what I've heard.
- 41:13And that's what I've heard.
- 41:14And that's what I've heard.
- 41:15And that's what I've heard.
- 41:16And that's what I've heard.
- 41:17And that's what I've heard.
- 41:18And that's what I've heard.
- 41:19And that's what I've heard.
- 41:20And that's what I've heard.
- 41:21And that's what I've heard.
- 41:22And that's what I've heard.
- 41:23And that's what I've heard.
- 41:24And that's what I've heard.
- 41:25And that's what I've heard.
- 41:26And that's what I've heard.
- 41:27And that's what I've heard.
- 41:28And that's what I've heard.
- 41:29And that's what I've heard.
- 41:30And that's what I've heard.
- 41:31And that's what I've heard.
- 41:32And that's what I've heard.
- 41:33And that's what I've heard.
- 41:34And that's what I've heard.
- 41:35And that's what I've heard.
- 41:36And that's what I've heard.
- 41:37And that's what I've heard.
- 41:38And that's what I've heard.
- 41:39And that's what I've heard.
- 41:40And that's what I've heard.
- 41:41And that's what I've heard.
- 41:42And that's what I've heard.
- 41:43And that's what I've heard.
- 41:44And that's what I've heard.
- 41:45And that's what I've heard.
- 41:46And that's what I've heard.
- 41:47And that's what I've heard.
- 41:48And that's what I've heard.

- 43:55(laughing)
- 43:57- You know what?
- 43:58Let me just get through my little segment here, please.
- 44:01- Yeah, yeah, no judgment.
- 44:02I mean, major judgment, but go ahead.
- 44:04- She is an Epobaby through both of her parents, actually.
- 44:08Her mom, Morso, Lori Lachlan, who is an American actress
- 44:11and over her role as Aunt Becky on Full House.
- 44:15And her dad, I'm gonna butcher his name, I apologize.
- 44:18Most, most Seemo, Giannouli,
- 44:21and he is an American fashion designer.
- 44:23And you can find his clothes at Target.
- 44:25- Massimo?
- 44:26- Yes, that's her dad.
- 44:28- Yeah, that was her dad.
- 44:29- Yes, that's her father.

- 44:34his scandal with the USC, they're rowing team.
- 44:39- She can't really contribute much, to be honest,
- 44:42but rowing skills.
- 44:44- You know what, she can contribute.
- 44:46She can break her dog who is really cute.
- 44:49He's a big German shepherd, so he can scare away people.
- 44:51He can scare away the zombies.
- 44:54She can make a mean look and avocado toast.
- 44:57She can bring a vlog in campus.
- 44:59- Bring a vlog in campus.
- 45:01- And she can vlog the whole experience for us.
- 45:04- You know, I think the podcast would appreciate that.
- 45:08- I think so too, like some vlogging.
- 45:10- The whole car is just full of problematic white women.
- 45:13(laughing)
- 45:14- And...
- 45:15- And Mariska Harcate is not problematic.
- 45:18You take a bath.
- 45:19- I'm kidding.
- 45:20- I'm not.
- 45:20- I'm neither John Aniston nor is Miley Cyrus.
- 45:23- It's gonna be great.
- 45:24- It's just a great time.
- 45:26- Of the old.
- 45:27- And I'm not problematic.
- 45:28- Yeah, that's right.
- 45:29- I am white, but I'm not problematic.
- 45:31(laughing)
- 45:32- All right, John, now you need to follow it up.
- 45:35- Yeah, that's okay.
- 45:36- You can roast mine, too, Nicole.
- 45:38- Oh, wow.
- 45:39- Your sounds, like it'll be a great time.
- 45:40I don't think you guys are gonna live very long.
- 45:42(laughing)
- 45:43- It's okay.
- 45:44- While you're alive, it's gonna be a great time.
- 45:46- I'm going out with my favorite celebrities,
- 45:47so I don't even care.
- 45:48- Yes.
- 45:49- And Instagram pictures are gonna be fire in your car.
- 45:52- Exactly.
- 45:53- The hashtags are gonna be exactly.
- 45:55- All that matters.
- 45:56- Yeah.
- 45:57- That's all that matters.
- 45:59(laughing)
- 45:59- You know, all of your followers are dead.
- 46:02(laughing)
- 46:03- Exactly.
- 46:03- You know what?
- 46:04- Exactly.
- 46:05- Five people in the car care.
- 46:07- I have four big check marks following me, that matter.
- 46:10- There it is.
- 46:11- There it is.
- 46:12- I love this.
- 46:13- Okay.
- 46:14- Man, you went all in with where the seating placement is.
- 46:18- I did, yeah.
- 46:19But that's okay.
- 46:20I did also make a graphic that we post on our Instagram.
- 46:25- We only did some makeup on our Instagram.
- 46:26- I think you guys are great.

- 46:38- That's all.
- 46:39- Okay, you're right.
- 46:40- You're right.
- 46:41- All right.
- 46:42I am driving.
- 46:43(imitating a pig)
- 46:46- Pottle.
- 46:47- Pottle.
- 46:48- Pottle.
- 46:48(laughing)
- 46:50- I hope you do.
- 46:50- I'm doing all that.
- 46:51(laughing)
- 46:52- And now we're all dead.
- 46:53Olivia, your turn.
- 46:54(laughing)
- 46:57- Oh man.
- 46:58All right, I am driving the car
- 47:00in the passenger seat next to me.
- 47:04- Okay.
- 47:05This is the apocalypse.
- 47:06My dear sweet husband died.
- 47:09Zombies got him.
- 47:10Made you rest in peace.
- 47:11- I don't know if killing Andrew
- 47:12was a part of the assignment.
- 47:14(laughing)
- 47:14- That's because it falls into why this person
- 47:18is in the passenger seat next to me.
- 47:20'Cause I'm a widow now.
- 47:22- Okay.
- 47:23- And I'm just playing.
- 47:24- Just, I am.
- 47:25- It's just really a,
- 47:26- I have to leave,
- 47:27- No.
- 47:28- Your signal under the top clips.
- 47:30- Your signal under the top clips.
- 47:31- Your signal under the top clips.
- 47:32- And I resurrected him.
- 47:33- Okay.
- 47:34- Okay.
- 47:35- So he says zombies.
- 47:36- And this place looks real.
- 47:38- No, 'cause then I keep him
- 47:39chained in a basement.
- 47:41- Okay.
- 47:41- If he, you guys do him or something.
- 47:42- Oh right, that's from the Patreon.
- 47:45(laughing)
- 47:47- All right, we're gonna have some
- 47:49apocalypse.
- 47:50- In the apocalypse.
- 47:50- I promise not to feed you to my zombie husband.
- 47:52- Thank you.
- 47:54- In this apocalypse, I am single.
- 47:57And the guy in the seat next to me
- 47:59is Jack Henry Quaid.
- 48:02His dad is Dennis Quaid
- 48:04and his mom is Meg Ryan.
- 48:07He is an actor who is known for his role in the voice,
- 48:11which I really love.
- 48:13He was also in Hunger Games.
- 48:15And he was in Scream,
- 48:17which I just recently saw.
- 48:19I just think he is so cute.
- 48:22He's so dorky and he's gonna be my boyfriend
- 48:25and the apocalypse.
- 48:27So see, that's why I have to be single in my apocalypse.
- 48:30He's in the front seat next to me
- 48:32just so we can flirt the whole time, honestly.
- 48:35Like, I don't know any of his music tastes,
- 48:38but I have some pretty fire playlists.
- 48:41So I feel like I could just tell him,
- 48:42like, oh, go to this playlist.
- 48:43Go to my apocalypse playlist and Spotify.
- 48:46They put it on for me.
- 48:47And we would just flirt the whole time.
- 48:49So Jack Quaid, behind me,
- 48:53is gonna be Maya Hawk
- 48:55because she's gonna be my new best friend.
- 48:58Maya Hawk is the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawk.
- 49:03She is best known for being on the show Stranger Things,
- 49:08where she won all of our hearts.
- 49:12She's just incredible in that show.
- 49:14And I feel like she would just have great,
- 49:15like best friend energy.
- 49:18She was also in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,
- 49:20do revenge blush.
- 49:22She's been in all sorts of things.
- 49:24She's gonna be a great best friend.
- 49:26If your parents are Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawk,
- 49:28like immediate cool, no doubt.
- 49:31She's so cool.
- 49:33She just seems like she'd be just kind of chill
- 49:35and down to earth.
- 49:37She would like, Neg Jack the whole time.
- 49:40So they would have like a friendship in going on,
- 49:42but I wouldn't have to worry about them.
- 49:44- But Killing Your?
- 49:45- She's got big gay energy.
- 49:47- Okay.
- 49:48- So, she might have to be loyal in your apocalypse.
- 49:52- No, Jack might have to be worried about me and Maya
- 49:55hooking up, but I feel like he might want to be down for it.
- 49:58- He'd watch.
- 49:58- I feel like he'd be okay with it, yeah.
- 50:00Everyone's calling in my apocalypse, because I'm sorry.
- 50:03- Just gonna put a big one into Polly.
- 50:06- To a big gay mobile.
- 50:09- Sean has got a whole RV.
- 50:13- Yeah.
- 50:14- I have an RV, well, it just people that I want to have sex.
- 50:17(laughing)
- 50:20It honestly is now, but I'm looking at the rest of my list.
- 50:23- Okay, keep going.
- 50:24- I'm not sure how to explain it.
- 50:26- It really is.
- 50:28And then, okay, in the back seat, I have Rashida Jones.
- 50:32Rashida Jones is the daughter of Quincy Jones.
- 50:36She is best known for being Karen on the office
- 50:40and Ann Perkins on Parks and Rec.
- 50:43I just think that she seems really sweet down to earth.
- 50:47And it's also talented and funny.
- 50:49And I feel like she's one of those people that you forget
- 50:52is a quote, "Nepo baby" because she has kind of carved out
- 50:56this career for herself and kind of made it on her own.
- 50:59I mean, she went to Harvard.
- 51:00She's brilliant.
- 51:02She should be able to know how to like scrounge for food.
- 51:05I feel like I get mom energy from her too.
- 51:08She probably know how to start a fire,
- 51:09which I've never actually done.
- 51:12And I'm gonna be too busy, like having sex with Jack.
- 51:16- What do you think they teach at Harvard?
- 51:19- How to start fire.
- 51:20How to scrounge for food.
- 51:24- Definitely.
- 51:26- Definitely how to distance yourself from Quincy Jones.
- 51:30Those three things.
- 51:31- Cool. - Perfect.
- 51:33- So it's gonna be great.
- 51:34It's gonna be a great time.
- 51:35- Okay.
- 51:36- And then the final person in my Nepo baby mobile
- 51:39is also gonna be there just to have a silly goofy time.
- 51:43And I don't know if he's gonna contribute anything
- 51:46super important besides just, I enjoy him.
- 51:48But it's Dan Levy.
- 51:50- Yes.
- 51:51- His father is Eugene Levy.
- 51:53He is best known for being David Rose on Shits Creek.
- 51:57And just being delightful.
- 51:59- Is he best known for that?
- 52:01I would say he's best known for American pie.
- 52:04- Well Eugene Levy is, we're not done with Levy.
- 52:06- Oh, okay.
- 52:07I thought you were saying Eugene.
- 52:08- I was saying Levy on American pie.
- 52:11- Oh my god.
- 52:11- It's just a wee little baby.
- 52:13- Baby, he's just in play-thing.
- 52:16- Yes.
- 52:17- Little bit bit.
- 52:18- No, Dan Levy is gonna be,
- 52:21cut these are all just friends that I just wanna hang out with
- 52:24and maybe survive a little bit.
- 52:27- Okay.
- 52:28- Nicole's car is definitely dying before I die.
- 52:30(laughing)
- 52:31- My car's not gonna make it much longer.
- 52:34- I'm not here for the survival.
- 52:35I'm here to have a good time, not here for a long time.
- 52:38- I'm here for a good time, not a long time.
- 52:40- Yeah.
- 52:41- All right.
- 52:41- So yeah, that's gonna be my Nepo mobile.
- 52:44- I didn't know I was just gonna have to survive.
- 52:46- Okay.
- 52:47- I'm sorry.
- 52:48- I don't mean your ass.
- 52:49- Nicole's super.
- 52:50- Nicole's super just driving off a cliff together,
- 52:53but it was a good time before that.
- 52:55- Okay.
- 52:56- You know.
- 52:57- I'm just wearing that selfie.
- 52:58(laughing)
- 52:59- It's gonna be one of those selfies
- 53:01if the Oscars or if the,
- 53:02what's that really pretentious fashion show
- 53:05that my painting is from?
- 53:07- The Macau.
- 53:08- There you go, thank you.
- 53:09Were they all getting the bathroom
- 53:10and they're all vaping and taking selfies?
- 53:12That's Nicole's car.
- 53:13- Yeah.
- 53:14- The Macau of Bathroom Selfie.
- 53:16- I'm not mad at it.
- 53:18- I'm deeply into that.
- 53:19- Yeah.
- 53:20- Okay, cool.
- 53:21So as a creator of this game,
- 53:26I think it's really interesting
- 53:27all the different approaches that we took to this.
- 53:31(laughing)
- 53:33- Nicole wants fame and I wanna get laid.
- 53:36- Yes.
- 53:36- And as mine goes on,
- 53:38you're gonna see mine's just a great big mess.
- 53:42But we're going to destroy it.
- 53:44- We're gonna destroy it.
- 53:45- If you've listened to any of these podcasts
- 53:47that I've been on or these episodes,
- 53:49you're not gonna be surprised by this one bit.
- 53:53But my first person who's gonna be right in the shotgun,
- 53:57right next to me drew Barrymore.
- 54:00And the reason is that woman has been through some stuff.
- 54:05I think she's gonna be the motivator, the mediator
- 54:10and keep everyone up.
- 54:11You know, like, hey, we can get through this.
- 54:13First, we're gonna do that.
- 54:15She's so loving.
- 54:16You know, so we're gonna have trauma from this apocalypse.
- 54:20And you know, I think Drew Barrymore knows how to deal with it
- 54:23because she said,
- 54:24- You're already out living in Nicole,
- 54:25which Drew Barrymore and you're gonna have.
- 54:27- Yeah, right.
- 54:28- Emotional wellness means physical wellness.
- 54:30So that's where we were thinking.
- 54:31- Absolutely.
- 54:32- You would be barefoot the whole apocalypse.
- 54:34(laughing)
- 54:35- Yes, we're touching grass,
- 54:37we're running in the rain,
- 54:38we're embracing life and every moment that we have there.
- 54:42So that was my first thought.
- 54:44Now Drew Barrymore's father is John Drew Barrymore.
- 54:49So he was, you know, a famous actor before.
- 54:51He kind of fell off and was an alcoholic.
- 54:53For my next nepo baby,
- 54:57which I think some people are surprised by this one,
- 55:00we're gonna go with Jane Fonda.
- 55:02And so Jane Fonda's father was Henry Fonda.
- 55:06He was in 12 angry men on a golden pond.
- 55:10And the reason that I chose Jane Fonda
- 55:13is actually because of her political activism
- 55:16and her involvement in so many different movements.
- 55:20And I thought she would be a great person
- 55:21to rebuild the world with, create government.
- 55:25- Yeah.
- 55:25- And a government that is focused on women
- 55:28and women's rights.
- 55:29So A, in my apocalypse, we're living
- 55:32and we are creating a women led world.
- 55:35(laughing)
- 55:37- She is creating a feminist utopia
- 55:39and I love it.
- 55:41And as I pointed out to you earlier,
- 55:42Jane Fonda can also lead you guys
- 55:44in buns and thighs workouts.
- 55:46- Yes, I need to stay toned.
- 55:49I need a nice butt.
- 55:50She's got the tenacity.
- 55:52She may be a little bit older, but she is still there.
- 55:55Okay.
- 55:56Okay.
- 55:57Now let's just where we kind of go.
- 55:58And you know, things start making less sense
- 56:01about my choices, but a girl has to have,
- 56:04you know, some hope for it all, right?
- 56:06So our next one is going to the queen, the goddess,
- 56:10the most beautiful thing in the world.
- 56:11We had to save her.
- 56:13Miss Zoe Kravitz, sorry.
- 56:15- Oh fuck you.
- 56:16- Sorry, we're throwing you to the elements.
- 56:19If it's true.
- 56:20So Kravitz off beauty alone, we're checking Zoe.
- 56:24Zoe, okay.
- 56:25- It's fair.
- 56:26That's why she wasn't in my car.
- 56:27It's because I knew that Jack,
- 56:29like, who, if I'm in a car in Zoe Kravitz,
- 56:32isn't a car Jack Wade is going for Zoe Kravitz.
- 56:35- Okay.
- 56:35- And honestly, I might too.
- 56:36- Yeah.
- 56:37- So she couldn't be my car.
- 56:38- And the real reason that I initially picked Zoe Kravitz
- 56:42aside from her beauty is I need storytelling
- 56:45and I want to know what happened between her and Taylor Swift.
- 56:49I want to hear about all their sweet, sweet love
- 56:52they made to each other.
- 56:53And I just like wanted to confirm the,
- 56:55the gala theories for me.
- 56:57And so she can also tell me.
- 56:59- You think Taylor and Zoe hooked up.
- 57:01- Well, yes.
- 57:03They were actually in the same quarantine pod.
- 57:06She is heavily credited on,
- 57:09I want to say about half of the songs on midnight's.
- 57:12And so she's been really, really heavily involved.
- 57:16She has had a connection to her.
- 57:18They're like a lot of these red herrings
- 57:21them being together.
- 57:23And you know, this is a whole nother episode.
- 57:25But if you do believe in the Taylor Swift as bisexual,
- 57:30it makes a lot of sense with Zoe Kravitz.
- 57:32But that would take forever.
- 57:34So, you know, we just need the lore.
- 57:36I just need the tea.
- 57:37She also dated Penn Badgley
- 57:39and apparently they did some freaky freaky stuff.
- 57:41And I want to know all about that.
- 57:43You know, it sounds great.
- 57:44- I love it.
- 57:45- Like lots of orgies, you know, great story times.
- 57:49- We had a apocalypse orgy.
- 57:51And then, see I'm telling you,
- 57:55this is where things get a little weird in it.
- 57:57- No, it's okay.
- 57:58- Every, all of our vehicles are just messes.
- 58:00They're just complete messes.
- 58:01(laughing)
- 58:02And so Zoe's parents, if you don't know,
- 58:04are Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, both also beautiful creatures
- 58:10who made an even more beautiful creature.
- 58:13So we're letting that live on.
- 58:15Beauty lives in my apocalyptic world.
- 58:17(laughing)
- 58:20- And then, you know.
- 58:21- We're also shallow, you guys, so like,
- 58:23(laughing)
- 58:25- And then, you know, again, we're rebuilding a society.
- 58:28And I'm going to take that one on my own back,
- 58:32or I guess, in my own tummy, and that's why we're bringing.
- 58:35Alexander Skarskard.
- 58:37(laughing)
- 58:39- Not just--
- 58:39- You're taking one for the team.
- 58:40- Yeah.
- 58:41- Not, yeah.
- 58:42- Taking one for the team, you know.
- 58:44So, not just because I want to repopulate my
- 58:47apocalyptic feminist utopia, but I do think after being
- 58:54Eric Northman and Tarzan and a Viking god in a movie,
- 58:59you know, he's gonna be pretty well suited to at least fight
- 59:05a slow-moving zombie, right?
- 59:06You know, if they're like, if they're like world-worthy zombies,
- 59:10maybe not, but I do think you would have a chance.
- 59:12- Yeah, these running zombies hell now.
- 59:14- Yeah.
- 59:14- I do think you would have a chance.
- 59:16And, you know, it could be fun.
- 59:17All of us, you know, whatever.
- 59:20But if you're not aware of how he is an epitome baby,
- 59:25his father is Stellen Skarskard.
- 59:28He's half-brothers with like Bill Skarskard, Peter Skarskard,
- 59:33all those individuals.
- 59:35So, Stellen Skarskard is like the Nick Cannon of Sweden.
- 59:39If you didn't know, he's got a lot of different baby mamas.
- 59:43- Oh my god.
- 59:45- Stellen Skarskard is known for roles in like Goodwill Hunting,
- 59:50Mama Mia is probably like for a female listeners
- 59:53where he's going to ring the most at.
- 59:57But, you know, in this feminist utopia, we have,
- 1:00:01we have it all, we got our therapist, we got our,
- 1:00:03our governess, and then we got our hot people
- 1:00:06who are gonna repump in the world with me.
- 1:00:07So, I love your car.
- 1:00:10- And now you're making me think like,
- 1:00:12I went on and on about Jack Quaid.
- 1:00:14- Yeah, Bill Skarskard.
- 1:00:16- Oh my god.
- 1:00:17- I know.
- 1:00:17- Oh.
- 1:00:19- Yeah, all three of us just pass him around our car.
- 1:00:23- Wait, no, I have a suggestion.
- 1:00:25- Ooh, yes, the cause of suggestion.
- 1:00:27- Why don't we act like the president of the United States
- 1:00:30and have all three of our cars just like follow each other?
- 1:00:33And then once we get to like rest stops,
- 1:00:35we just like change cars, like change our passengers.
- 1:00:38So then we can do that.
- 1:00:39- Oh, sure.
- 1:00:40- But then like, we're gonna be in a commune.
- 1:00:43- Yeah, but we're gonna follow each other.
- 1:00:45- I don't know if Jack Quaid does it for me.
- 1:00:47- Well, we don't have to like share.
- 1:00:50- And he can't, like sleep with him.
- 1:00:52- Yeah.
- 1:00:53- You can't stay in the car.
- 1:00:54- Okay, okay, fine.
- 1:00:55(laughing)
- 1:00:56- The pop culture junkie motorcade.
- 1:00:58- Okay.
- 1:00:59- Okay.
- 1:00:59- We're all, yeah, in the car,
- 1:01:00and then we switch partners.
- 1:01:02And then we all swap besties and sexual partners.
- 1:01:05(laughing)
- 1:01:07And then if we ever have to camp out, I love this.
- 1:01:10Actually, I love this.
- 1:01:11- Yeah.
- 1:01:12- Camp fires.
- 1:01:13- Yeah.
- 1:01:14- Pop culture solved.
- 1:01:15- Yeah.
- 1:01:16Oh my god, yeah, we could just have like one big
- 1:01:17campfire.
- 1:01:18I'll just tell our own little ghost stories together.
- 1:01:21- Yeah.
- 1:01:22- But then our car rides will be separate,
- 1:01:24but our campfires will just be all one big campfire
- 1:01:28with each other.
- 1:01:29- I love this.
- 1:01:30- Eventually it's just the three of us hanging out
- 1:01:32and all the celebrities are dead.
- 1:01:33- Yeah.
- 1:01:34- They're all just so terrible.
- 1:01:36(laughing)
- 1:01:37I'm okay with that too, to be honest.
- 1:01:38- I'm okay with that too.
- 1:01:39- They're money against them,
- 1:01:40and we're like the poor people win.
- 1:01:42(laughing)
- 1:01:43- Eat the rich, we're gonna eat them in the end.
- 1:01:45- Which it becomes like yellow jackets and we're so starving.
- 1:01:48That's another good question.
- 1:01:49Who would you eat first in your car?
- 1:01:51- I love you, Jade.
- 1:01:53(laughing)

- 1:01:56libyajate in the motorcade.
- 1:01:58- Yeah.
- 1:01:58- Sorry.
- 1:01:59- I would probably say, God, sorry, Jane,

- 1:02:04(laughing)
- 1:02:07- I know she doesn't have meat on her.
- 1:02:10- We'd fatten her up, okay?
- 1:02:13- I'm gonna go hashtag feminism,
- 1:02:15and I'm gonna eat Jack Quay.
- 1:02:17(laughing)
- 1:02:19- You just say it.
- 1:02:20- Yeah, I love it.
- 1:02:21- I can't eat my girlfriends.
- 1:02:23I can't eat Raschita Jones.
- 1:02:24I can't eat Maya Hawk.
- 1:02:26Dan Levy is also one of my hashtag girlfriends,
- 1:02:28and we would be like, you served your dick purpose,
- 1:02:32and now we need to eat you.
- 1:02:34- We have a lot of--

- 1:02:36- A lot of applied children were good.
- 1:02:37- Thank you.
- 1:02:38- We're good, honey, especially because of libyajate cars,
- 1:02:40Alexander Skarsgard, and so I'd be like,
- 1:02:42"I'm just a complete share."
- 1:02:44- Yeah, and so we got it, so I think tall,
- 1:02:47vikings, children, yeah.
- 1:02:49- Yeah, exactly.
- 1:02:50- And I thought, "I think Dan Levy might be pan,
- 1:02:51so he might do it."
- 1:02:54- He might do it.
- 1:02:54- Did he?
