- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, welcome to episode 52 of cheesy popcorn for this episode.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about our favorite cartoons of all time.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we've got a review of Practical Magic 2 and the uprising.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk about the movies that are coming out this weekend.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get all into that in just a second here.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Chris Miles of course, your co-host alongside with my good buddy and pal.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: Anavar also a co-host here and this is all on the rise network so thank you guys Which also has your show new a music role.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, we're not supposed to talk about each other shows until later So, yeah, we're just supposed to get right into it.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: I can forget I said that folks
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so you're going to review the uprising for the show.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to review a practical magic, too.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why I sound like Elmer Fud today.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a cross between Elmer Fud and Polki Pig.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I don't know what's going on here.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: But so I apologize for the slips that I might make up.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll slip into some other accents as well, too.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how things go.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: But as we do to start off the show every week, we talk about the movies that are coming out this week.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now, did you do your homework?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Are you able to go back and forth with me like we did last time or are you carrying the weight all over again?
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: I did it.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: Do you see what I did there?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: I saw that.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: Did you?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: What did I do there?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: You did a thing where you said we should go back and forth.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, I said I or do I have to carry the weight All the weight.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I Don't think he gets it, which means he didn't do his homework.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, yes, I do.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: I know the weight is one of the movies.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, okay There we go.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it took you a little longer to get into it than probably was actually studio necessary But anyway, I will start with the weight and then you can take it from there for the next one.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm good
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because the weight is probably the only movie that I'm even vaguely interested in as far as what's coming out this week, only because Samu will grow.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: Russell Crowe is in it, along with Ethan Hawke, Julie Jones, and also Patrick McKinley.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: So it looks fairly interesting to me.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: It could be one of those movies, of course it's about a father who's torn from his daughter and then sent to a brutal prison where there's some high-stake struggles that go on.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: There might even be some smuggling of some gold and also a dangerous crew of prisoners.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: So it looks like it could be kind of a crazy turmoil kind of prison movie.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see that the journey looks like it might go through bonuses, maybe even some real threats, who knows, it looks like it's all over the place, but it looks like it might be fairly interesting, and at five bucks, you know, when I go see it on the cheap days, who knows?
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's the weight, you no longer have to wait for the next one.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: No waiting for the weight.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds redundant, like you're saying things over and over again, like you tend to repeat yourself.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: what's the next movie resident evil this is probably like resident evil twelve we're trying to say that i repeat myself what you're saying that you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're saying you're
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: So how can they do that?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's been resident evil because they're probably trying to re-brand the The whole thing maybe the franchise as they say okay.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: I was never a big fan of residents evils I like I like horror movies.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: I like thrillers I Don't like movies that just it's a guy would as with a chainsaw couldn't kids up I don't like those
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: Never have.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Jason, all of those, who's the guy with the Freddie Fingers?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: There would be Freddie.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Freddie Fingers.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Not that it does anything for me.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Make him sound like he's a gangster or something.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's just, you know, there's no plot.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, I mean, it's kind of TNA meets Razer hands.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, not my cup of tea.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: Give me a good thriller.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: Give me a good horror movie that like,
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm blank and why I go back to the old days for me.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, here we go.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're batting from strings.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go away back to you exactly.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: I, you know, there's just, if you really want to watch a really good, really good thriller suspense movie, then you got to watch something like rear window or the man
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: No, that was the comedy one.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: Man who knew too much was with Doris to aim Jimmy Stewart.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right, up next, Sean, the sheep, the beast of mossy bottom, which is just a lot of fun to say.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: This looks like it could be fairly interesting.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: The beast of mossy bottom basically finds residents at the farm looking forward to Halloween.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then some clumsy farmer comes in, trashes, the flocks, the beloved pumpkin patch.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: And it leads to kind of craziness as far as the new film is concerned.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: More of the same same with the more, you know, nobody, I don't even know if anybody's really paying attention to this movie to be honest with you.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: it is rated PG so be mindful of that.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like it could be like a fun kind of Halloween movie.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm definitely going to wait till it comes out on Netflix because it just does not interest me in any way, shape or form.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: What's up next on the Docket there, my friend?
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: Premier, not Premier, bad apples.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: get that one bad apple bad apples coming out yeah that's limited release yeah limited but still coming out yeah but we don't talk about limited release teacher doing their best to inspire class of 10 year olds but is stifled by one unruly and chaotic student so this proves that you didn't do your homework and then she kidnaps him and locks him in their basement
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: proves you didn't do your homework.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: We don't talk about limited releases because we don't know if everyone's going to have a seat.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought I'd throw the- and then one sound that kind of interesting.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it looks dumb.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: Nah, it sounds better than Resident Evil.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, there, I will give you that, but we don't need another Resident Evil, we just like we don't need another movie about apples that are bad.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: You always have to find the bad apples.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: No, I thought it was the bad seed.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: See it's in the apples.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of, so here is one since we're going to, since we talked about a movie that's in limited release, here's a movie that actually went from limited release and is now going to expand a nationwide release.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's called, if I go, will they miss me?
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: which I think came out a couple of weeks ago as a matter of fact, but now it's in Nationwide, release takes place in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's a young gal who basically wants to see the world and a younger, even dude who wants to see the world as well too.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: and his father kind of guides him in the way that children should see things.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's got myth wonder and unwavering belief, and it's not rated.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly enough, stars Meredith Crowley, Danielle Brooks, Miles of Bullock,
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: It could be interesting, it looks like one of those, and I know I said this already, but it looks like one of those mythy takes on things.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: It could be like pans, labyrinth, so to speak.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: So it could be interesting, there as well, too.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then there's only one other, as far as movies are coming out this weekend.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's called the musical.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know anything about that one?
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see that one.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Let me see that one up here.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: So basically, it follows a disgruntled playwright who has become a middle school teacher, who is longing for New York and his ex-girlfriend comes in.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: and starts dating as Nemesis and then the school's principal basically turns around and says, well, your ambitions are just kind of crazy and they morph into some diabolical scheme.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly enough though, it's called the comedy.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: But it looks like it's all over the place.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: So interesting.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: And that rounds out the movies that are coming out this weekend.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we got the weight.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Resident Evil, Sean, the sheep, the beast of mossy bottom, I just love saying that.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: The musical, and then last but not least, because it's now unexpected or nationwide release, if I go, will they see me.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: So those are the movies that are coming out this week.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: What interests you there, my friend, you're going to go see mossy bottom.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm leaning towards the sheep movie, okay?
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm up for a fun little movie that's not gonna, you know, it's just kind of fun.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of like sheep detectives.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Sheep detectives was actually really good.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: It took a little bit, but it actually was really- It took a minute.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: It was once you got into it, you were into it.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was nuts.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was such a crazy ride.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I was surprised it was so little of the main character, but it was enough of the main character.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: So it was perfectly set up by the only actor in there that people knew.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: I was in in the movies for that.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: No, like the first 10th of the movie, yeah.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: But it worked.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's why people wanted to see it because of that particular individual.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then they were very disappointed once he was gone after 10 minutes.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't want to add a one a spoiler alert so I don't want to give away who it was.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have to.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: There were two big names.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: And both in for a very limited amount of time, by the way.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of spoiler alert, what's your review of the uprising?
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: How did you see that?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, now.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: And you're fresh off of a two fresh off.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: Two hours ago.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: Here's what I thought.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: There's a site from Andrew Garfield.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's nobody in this cast that I knew.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, which I like when movies are like that, especially period pieces like this.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I answered that a really good job unlike Matt Damon in the Odyssey, which I said I thought was not not Kesswaw.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: Andrew Garfield does a really good job in this movie The young boy that plays King Richard, Woody, Woody Norman
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: He, I kind of got the impression that he was trying to do an impression of, so you, let's get straight.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: You got the impression that he was doing an impression, right?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: I got the impression that he was doing an impression of walking Phoenix as the king in gladiator.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: A little bit, like, he kind of had that,
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: cycle kind of thing going on.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: Not a bad job.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: The cinematography was really good.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: The directing, not so great for me, especially in the fight scenes.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: The directing and the fight scenes was really all over the place.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: It was like they didn't seem to know where to put the camera, they just kind of, I don't know, it just seemed not
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: not well storybook in my opinion, it was a little bit confusing at times because of that I think you weren't sure where the movie was kind of going.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's based on actual events, which I you know, I love period pieces.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: In this time, excuse me, no, nobody used any words, they hadn't come out to on 1941 because it's a set in 1831 which was kind of cool.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing that was, I think, non-factual, and I didn't get a chance to look it up, is it's that in 1831, and the King's historian is an Asian guy with a British accent.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not sure that that's historically correct.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it would be.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: But otherwise, if I'm the watch, it was a fun movie to watch.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: At the very end, there's a slight reference that I'll see.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to give it away.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: See people catch it.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: at the very end.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: There's a slight reference to another British movie character from years.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they've read down at many, many times, but I'll let people try to catch it.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: I gave it a seven.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, because I enjoyed it.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was sitting there and joined the movie.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: The costume, the cinematography, the locations, the dialogue, the writing was all there.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: Just, I thought that the directing was in quite there for me.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was to, what's to where I'm looking?
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: The director, the directing was just, it was too, like real quick shots and they're in the fight scenes, it's a little bit,
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: Just a little bit graphic not a lot, but a little bit enough to if you were with somebody who doesn't like graphic violence They would you'd get a oh my god Jesus Christ Yeah, that's my take.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: I see what you did there.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right So seven is what you said a seven seven for uprising.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I'm not gonna be very very very nice about practical magic at all So here's the thing my background in it is I was introduced to the movie by my my ex-wife
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Who was like well we can't be in a relationship if you don't watch practical magic so I was already put into a a pinned pigeon hold type thing I'm joking here a little bit, but she was like if you don't like practical magic then then we're not gonna be able to watch the same movies together And I will say this I
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love the original.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was great.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of rom-com-y.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: It had some great moments, some great stories about family traditions and things of that nature, which craft in it and stuff.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: And it didn't, it wasn't heavy on the special effects.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: There were special effects in it, but it wasn't heavy on it.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it worked well.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, it had a great cast, Sandra Bullock, of course, and Nicole Kidman, Stocker Channing, and then Diane West, and then one of the daughters was played
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it had a great cast at the time, they were all names named actors so to speak.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, practical magic, too.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: What does it do?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it brings back a lot of that cast, a standardable expact, the Colcamin is back, of course, um, as, uh, the, the own sisters, Sally and Gillian.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then it brings, of course, Dr. Channing and Diane West and then it takes a completely different turn from there.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: It adds new faces, Joey King, Maisie Williams and then Lee Pace.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, the original daughters have now been recast.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's still great chemistry between Buckman and Kidman.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's Bullock rather and Kidman.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: There's no denying that.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: But then like the other characters who played a fairly decent part in the first movie kind of got sidelines so the answer sideline and the daughters are sideline and not really sideline, but the daughters are in it, but they're different and you got to get used to them, right?
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's got an interesting style to it.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I would argue that the 90s rom-com charm is better than this heavily CGI, uh, mist and, and, uh, like, darker atmosphere, kind of thing.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um,
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting what the director did as far as the visual style is concerned.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: Susan Bear basically did like a gauzy smudgy filter on it.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: So there was a lot of shadows in it and it kind of, it really pulled away like the warm organic feel that the movie had if you've seen the original practical magic.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: The plot was a little lackluster, probably a little bit longer than it needed to be.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was like two and a half hours long.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Probably could have only been done in an hour and a half.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: which I don't remember if the original practical magic was about that long.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: It works well as an nostalgic event movie.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: So people who love the original are definitely going to go see it.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: I know it got some really good box office presence this past weekend.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: 32 million on the opening weekend.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it did great as far as the box office concern.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: Record breaking high scores as far as audiences are concerned.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Critics, including myself, not really digging it.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's the narrative, the storyline, it's way down, feels mechanical, it doesn't, it doesn't really jive on.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then the younger generation subplot things just kind of feels like it was just, and added there.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: And they okay.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: So the original was an hour and 44 minutes.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for looking that up.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I was close.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: About an hour and a half is about where this movie should have been and it really wasn't do that.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: However, if you want like a pumpkin spice, octomenal aesthetic movie for Halloween, then this is going to be your go-to.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, it's just mediocre.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just kind of like, eh.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: Even even when I watched the previews and I remember what I'd set a couple of episodes or I think last episode as a matter of fact I said who really needs a practical magic to and that's pretty much where I'm gonna leave it There isn't much else to say about it.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's just okay and and that's it I'm if you're fan of practical magic you're gonna enjoy it because it's gonna be you know It's gonna be great and you're gonna you're gonna think oh my god, this is so great whatever and then you're gonna you know you're gonna enjoy me.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of like
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't it took the it took the ending and then broke it just to bring it back to the way the ending was again And it was just kind of like did we need to do this so anyway I my review is gonna be short and sweet because I just did not like it and I don't have very many great things to say about it So you know, I'm gonna give it a five
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: wow yeah it's just for you it's just okay i mean okay i wasn't and again you know i mean i know i had that do we really need another practical magic too right or do we really need another practical magic movie uh really need another resident evil movie
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: that I would say no but there's an audience for it out there because there's always new resident evil video games that come out and so that's what they're trying to talk at their target there it's it's an audience let's let me just we're done with that before we get to cartoons though because the uprising and I'm not sure when these movies are coming out but there were several movies that I think are going to be great
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: at the minimum fun and uh... these movies that you saw in the previous year uh... one was a remake of a John Wayne movie actually with John Wayne's first hit it called angel and the bad man with timely jones and i can't get the the other guy's name in it but uh... that looks like it's going to be really good that's going to be hard to top the original uh... be a month with pedropascal where he plays a cello player looks like it's kind of a romantic
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think anybody gets killed or anything.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just a kind of a neat story and Pedro's, you know, I love Pedro.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: Social reckoning, which is sort of a Facebook story about regulating what is on Facebook and what is geared towards kids.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: That looked really good.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: Wild Horse Nine.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: Now what do you think that's about?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: that's what I thought.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then I saw the preview.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just pulled that out of the back side.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's eight-way old horses.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's a movie with a jammelk of itch, Dave Busemi, and Sam Rockwell.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a great cast right there to begin with.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: It is the preview looks great and Nalgavic plays a very typical Nalgavic role in it and Steve Bushemi is always Steve Bushemi, but that looks any one of those movies when those come out and we preview them, I would go see, I'd probably go see all of them to be honest with you, based on the previews.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: the one I would really like to see more than anything is the angel in the bad man remake just to see how they did that and juxtapose it with the original John Wayne one if you've never seen the original John Wayne once a really good movie too you could you should check that out
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, before we get into our favorite cartoon movies, I would be remiss if I didn't mention something that's coming out in a couple of weekends.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's too bad that I can't play the theme song here.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I bet they?
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's a movie.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's a movie you love.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: You always talk about how it's one of the greatest MCU movies of all time.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I necessarily agree with you, but, you know, that's beside the point.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: The on-core version is coming out in a couple of weeks.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's still looking at me like, I don't know what I'm talking about.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't matter.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's playing with me.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's when we're bringing Tino in on.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe we'll bring him in the studio.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that sounds good.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: So that's coming up in a couple of weeks.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, I like about Avengers and Game on-core.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: I hope I hope I hope I hope that this extra footage that they're talking about is worth it.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's sprayed throughout the movie and not just at the end, which is what I feel like is going to happen just so that they can use it as a precursor to Doomsday.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: I have an idea.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: I bet you that part of the extra footage is going to be a little bit more of a relationship between the Hulk and Black Widow, because remember how upset he got when she didn't come back?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: I would bet, because they kind of tease that throughout the whole movie that she was kind of how he got back and forth at times.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: I bet that's in there.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: I bet that's in there.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: There are a couple of the Avengers movies though.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I think maybe that might be, all right, anyway, Cartoon, you must start?
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: Go right ahead.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's do let's let's let's one at a time.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, we'll go back and forth I don't like going back and forth.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: I know you do, but I don't like going back and forth.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's either in or it's out.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's it Bugs money
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I knew that was coming.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: And it's on my top.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that bugs bunny.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: You can't, I mean, you can't have a favorite cartoon and not have bugs bunny in there.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's the quintessential cool guy of the cartoon world.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: And all the cast of characters around him, you know.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: How can you not, how could that not be on your list?
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: Roadrunner and right now they're doing the Coyote versus Acme.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not familiar with the Roadrunner cartoons, you shouldn't go see Coyote versus Acme until you've seen some Roadrunner cartoons, because the movie might not make sense.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: Flintstones, great references to movie stars of the time,
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: uh... but in a stone age uh... you know like rock uh... what it would rock it wasn't rock Hudson was rock uh... they gave them a different name but rock Hudson was one of the movie stars in there
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: and others that they did a great job.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, when they did the movies off of that, to be able to get, um, to be able to get, oh god, all right, Armand, you get me on this one.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: To play the mother-in-law famous actress, Mary Tue Richard Burton for twice, actually.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: I know you know who it is.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: I have no idea which is all you do.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: She's great friends with Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: Elizabeth Taylor, when the movie played the mother-in-law.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: So, Jetsons, great, so far and beautiful.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're just going beyond the 70s.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there aren't any good ones now.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: The only bad thing about the Jetsons,
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Was that they were in the way way way this in future and they're no Latinos even the the people the workers were robots So they figured out a way to get rid of the Latinos and replace them with robots which apparently AI is gonna do to all of us I'm gonna go way back for this one clutch cargo Yeah, which spinner and paddle foot now that was a flat cartoon with only the lips moved
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: And when you were a kid, you didn't know that what was coming, because that was like really cool back then, until they started doing actual animation.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: And then you realized that clutch cargo was really cheap to make.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: And no list is complete, no list would be complete.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: Your list should have this too.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: Without the quintessential cartoon character, Mr. Mughal.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: I guess my list isn't complete because I never would put Mr. McGill on it.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: Are you now you're probably going to have sponge vibe and all those new people, but they don't they don't equate no so very first I'm going to go Scooby-Doo where are you?
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: I was a fan but I was in a huge fan and that's fine because it was always cool to see who they were going to figure out and plus it's always really cool to go Okay, so anyway I'm going to then go to King of the Hill because that's kind of a newer cartoon and it's actually coming back out
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm interested to see what's going to go on there.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: People from my generation probably say the Simpsons or South Park as well.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: I got more into South Park than I did the Simpsons.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because the Simpsons just got, it got to be the same thing over and over again for me.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: Although the Simpsons has been around for like what almost 20 years now, which is kind of even hard to fathom in and of itself.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, so we're gonna go straight 80s on this.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna go Thundercats.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna go Silverhawks.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: And we're gonna go Transformers, Go Bots, and I'm really pulling it out here.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: He-man, and then last but not least, Voltron.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I did all of those just to piss you off because I know you're gonna be like 80s cartoon suck.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: And they weren't funny.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: The interesting thing though is you left out two really big cartoons from like the 60s.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: and those would have been like, if I'm going back to classic classic cartoons, those would have been on my list, and that would have been Tom and Jerry and Woody Woodpecker.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: You completely left those out.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: You also didn't mention Popeye either, which I was kind of like, mmm, yeah, you know, I wasn't a big Woody Woodpecker, and I wasn't a big time in Jerry fan.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: You notice that it also didn't put in Speedy Gonzales.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: Speedy Gonzalez was in Looney, too, and so, so like when you say that, but when people think Looney, Tunes anyways, and then Speedy Gonzalez didn't have his own cartoon.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: What was the other one you said?
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: What do you would book your commentary?
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: Tom and Jerry and you said one of the one, though those were the two classics that I said.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: He said nothing.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't say another.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: I said Looney, Tunes.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, he said another one.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, I said Tom and Jerry and what he would pack her those oh papai papaya papaya.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't I didn't watch papaya line.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: I thought The message I got from papai was never each spinach because it affects your eyesight Because that the only reason that papai would fight blue dough for olive oil is if you had a bad bad ice
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: Are you only breathing?
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: Are you kissing olive oil?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: Even Wimpy, even Wimpy never flirted with her.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I stayed away from spinach my whole life.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, and it shows.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, and last but not least, I would not be a teenager from the 90s.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: If I did not bring in Batman, the animated series, probably one of the classics, because you didn't grow up with the original Batman with with Adam West.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Word and Adam West.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: I did grow up with that.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: It was not really.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: It was on Bozo.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: That was like a Batman one that was like that.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: The super friend spin off of those particular cartoons was actually not bad.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: There was a Superman one that they used to play on Bozo as well and those were those are kind of cool, but they always left you with a cliffhanger.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then you had to sit there and wait through all the commercials and then go back to it.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then sometimes if you were lucky enough, it would actually show they would actually show the rest of the cartoon in Bozo.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: But if they got the timing off, like if some Bozo on the Bozo buckets took way too much time, you didn't actually get to see the ending.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: So that's stunk.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: So it was no fun, and there was a Spider-Man one that they would show too.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: That was also from the 60s as well too.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I must say those weren't bad cartoons, but when you only wait for you to watch them was on the Bozo show and you had to wait and sit through a bunch of stuff that you didn't care about.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of like, eh, well you know who we both left off is Mickey Mouse.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: just a really I'm making my generation we're talking like 80s you know late seven years early 80s yeah young people late 70s early 80s Mickey Mouse was not on TV it was because of Disney and the rights and the protection of stuff like that Mickey Mouse was showing on TV so the only thing we got were those special like ABC
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Cardinals for all the Disney was on well that's and that's that's the one that's we got to see you got to see yeah so they weren't they weren't like a weekly cartoon now like single willy is not really a weekly cartoon that was only a limited it was shown before thing it was a fact of making for those you to don't know back in the day black and white back in the day it was shown be cartoons were shown before major movies you didn't have pre-cars to watch newsreels during two-world wars
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: They show a news reel then they show cartoon and they show the movie and sometimes you'd have a news reel, a cartoon, a movie and then the double feature movie.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: and there you go.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, that's my list of greatest cartoons of all time and that's going to do it for this episode.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: So you said you were going to review Resident Evil, right?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's I heard that correct.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm going to go see Resident Evil.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: Then I want to go see Freddy Krueger and Halloween.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: You said you're going to see Sean the sheep, the beast of Mossy bottom and what did I say I was going to see?
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, you said you were going to go see Mr.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. McGo.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, I did not say Mr. McGo.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even remember saying Mr. McGo.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think I said I would go review the weight, but I don't know.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: The weight.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: I actually, to be honest with you, I'm not going to review the weight.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to actually review a TV show.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: One that I believe is worthy of binge-washing, and I'm going to, it's been out for a while, so it's not going to be like,
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: you know, this is out now and it's brand new kind of stuff.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, and I should have, I should not have waited as long as I did to actually start watching this, but I'm on episode two already, and I'm like, my God, this is great.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to review ratchet, which is on Netflix.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it's about nurse ratchet from one flu over the coast, which I had the pleasure of directing for a local community theater here about six, seven years ago, maybe eight, nine years ago now.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: So kind of like an homage to that.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what I'm going to do next week Because Just be straight up and honestly think none of these movies really interest me at all this week Maybe I'll find something on Netflix that'll be interesting, but coming up these movies coming up are gonna be real Did I do Jimmy did I tell you Jimmy to or Jimmy's coming now?
- 32:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a Jimmy's toward bio
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you're, you like Jimmy's story, right?
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: He's one of my favorite actors of all time.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I think he would just a good guy.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and this movie, uh, I saw up, they showed a preview.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's just called Jimmy.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: They showed a preview of it.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, that's another, I missed that one.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: Whenever that comes out, I'm going to go review that one.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I love Jimmy and there you go that's the episode of course.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's a episode number 52 of the two popcorn That's a year.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're all the shows.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that is that is actually that is one year shows If you go week by week, but we haven't gone week by week and the first year anniversary is paper So next week, I will bring you so where's my money page?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: No, so
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: Don't think I haven't heard that before.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure you haven't heard that before, especially when we talk about paper.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's going to do us for this episode.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: We'll give Annavar some breathing room here.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: So he can come off a storm.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go take my delts.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: But until next week, save us some popcorn.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's an cheesy popcorn.
