- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here with you again. Lucas: It really is. We are doing something new today. Last time we talked about movies at the cinema. Luna: Right. And before that, we learned where things are with prepositions like on and in. Lucas: Exactly. So now, let us move. Let us go somewhere. Today is about movement. Luna: Movement. I love movement. My legs feel ready to walk already. Lucas: Good. Because we need strong legs for our first phrase. Listen closely. Lucas: Subir las escaleras. Luna: Subir las escaleras. Lucas: Very good. It means to go up the stairs. Or to climb the stairs. Luna: Subir las escaleras. Lucas: Perfect. Now, imagine you are at the bottom of a long staircase. Luna: Okay. I am standing there. I look up. There are many steps. Lucas: So you say, Subir las escaleras. You are going up. Luna: Subir las escaleras. Got it. Up the stairs. Lucas: Now, let us change direction. What if you are high up, and you want to go down? Luna: Oh, I know this one. Or I think I do. Is it bajar? Lucas: Yes. Bajar means to go down or to come down. But today we use a specific phrase. Lucas: Bajar la calle. Luna: Bajar la calle. Lucas: That is right. It means to go down the street. To walk along the street downwards. Luna: Bajar la calle. Like walking down a hill, or just down a road. Lucas: Exactly. You can use it even if the street is flat. It just means moving along it. Luna: Bajar la calle. Okay. Up the stairs, down the street. Lucas: Let us add one more movement. Imagine there is a river in front of you. Luna: A big river. With water flowing fast. Lucas: And there is a bridge over it. How do you get to the other side? Luna: You cross it. In Spanish, that is cruzar. Lucas: Correct. And the bridge is el puente. So put them together. Lucas: Cruzar el puente. Luna: Cruzar el puente. Lucas: Excellent. To cross the bridge. Simple and clear. Luna: Cruzar el puente. I can picture it now. Walking across the stones. Lucas: Now, what if you are lost? You do not know which way to go? Luna: Oh no. That is my worst nightmare. Getting lost in a new city. Lucas: Do not worry. You have a magic question for that. Listen to this. Lucas: ¿Cómo llego a...? Luna: ¿Cómo llego a...? Lucas: This means, How do I get to...? It is the most useful phrase for travelers. Luna: ¿Cómo llego a...? So you fill in the blank with the place. Lucas: Yes. ¿Cómo llego a la estación? How do I get to the station? Luna: ¿Cómo llego al parque? How do I get to the park? Lucas: Spot on. You can use it anywhere. It opens every door for you. Luna: I feel much braver now. I know how to move and how to ask. Lucas: Before we practice a full scene, I want to talk about Fexingo for a moment. Luna: Yeah. This show is special because it helps you actually speak. Lucas: It does. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Spanish... Luna: And you want to keep these episodes coming, ad-free and steady... Lucas: You can support the work directly. Just go to buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: It really makes a difference. Thank you for listening and supporting. Lucas: Okay. Back to our movements. Let us put it all together. Luna: I am ready. Where are we going? Lucas: You are at the bottom of a tall building. You need to go up. Luna: So I say, Subir las escaleras. To get to the top floor. Lucas: Right. Then you are on the street. You need to go down the main road. Luna: Bajar la calle. Walking towards the river. Lucas: Yes. The river is there. You see the bridge. Luna: Cruzar el puente. And now I am on the other side. Lucas: But wait. You do not know where the museum is. What do you ask? Luna: I stop a stranger. I smile. And I ask, ¿Cómo llego al museo? Lucas: Perfect. They point and say, Go down the street. Cross the bridge. Luna: And I say thank you. Because I know the words. Subir, bajar, cruzar. Lucas: And the question, ¿Cómo llego a...? It is your best friend. Luna: Let us repeat the key phrases one last time. For real memory power. Lucas: Ready? First one. To go up the stairs. Luna: Subir las escaleras. Lucas: Second. To go down the street. Luna: Bajar la calle. Lucas: Third. To cross the bridge. Luna: Cruzar el puente. Lucas: And the question. How do I get to...? Luna: ¿Cómo llego a...? Lucas: You did great today. Your Spanish is getting stronger every episode. Luna: I feel like I could navigate any city now. Even without a map. Lucas: That is the goal. Practice these phrases. Say them while you walk. Luna: Or when you climb stairs. Or cross a bridge. Anywhere works. Lucas: Thank you for joining us on Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time. Keep practicing. See you next time.
