- 1:11Speaker 3: you learn you try not to repeat your errors, so
- 1:14Speaker 3: it's all good there. But you know, Patriots Nation is
- 1:17Speaker 3: very nervous right now, please Patriot Nation nervous. I wrote
- 1:21Speaker 3: it down in the blog, so I have record of it.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I'm not this is in hindsight. I notice a very
- 1:25Speaker 3: stiff win, and then later on I did not see
- 1:29Speaker 3: that flag ever go down, ever, go limp. So you
- 1:31Speaker 3: don't want the flag, you know, we don't want the flag.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I need money. The thing could make you money. What
- 1:36Speaker 3: would you do? You know, like I wouldn't mind teaching tennis.
- 1:38Speaker 4: That's a rich man's sport. Put the grape smugglers on.
- 1:42Speaker 4: That'd be awesome. Doctor Wilson T two thousand socks, he actually.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Has an aluminum racket. Then you know, you know they
- 1:49Speaker 3: have grafted. Now, Reckon said of Wilson T two thousands.
- 1:51Speaker 3: That's what I just said. Guy.
- 1:53Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 2:01Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 2:05Speaker 3: at Jillette Stadium, and that means it's pickstay for the moment.
- 2:08Speaker 3: It's Paul, it's Alex, it's myself. We'll be joined by
- 2:11Speaker 3: Deuce and Evan.
- 2:12Speaker 4: I don't want to give anything away about a happy pickstay.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Oh for all, happy much, just for you, no, pretty
- 2:18Speaker 3: much for everybody. Okay, all right, well we're getting better.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Took us nine weeks, but we're getting there. A couple
- 2:24Speaker 3: of bumps in the road. Oh oh okay, all right,
- 2:29Speaker 3: well we'll get there. We got to hurry, but we
- 2:32Speaker 3: will get there eventually. But first, let's talk about Patriots again.
- 2:37Speaker 3: It's Paul and me and Alex. And you know, I
- 2:41Speaker 3: was thinking, I was thinking we on this show. We've
- 2:45Speaker 3: talked about our duty to be objective. I think we
- 2:49Speaker 3: owe it to our fans among all the stuff going
- 2:52Speaker 3: on out there, you know, to be to give it,
- 2:56Speaker 3: like to call like we see it, but to be
- 2:57Speaker 3: fair about it, you know, and and you know, not
- 3:00Speaker 3: go with all the hot takes and everything. And I
- 3:03Speaker 3: was thinking, how easy, especially when you're two and seven
- 3:07Speaker 3: things aren't going right, how easy it is to like,
- 3:10Speaker 3: you know, everything's terrible, the sky's falling, and just like
- 3:14Speaker 3: you know, harp on all the negatives, because like I said,
- 3:17Speaker 3: it's it's easy. It's a lot tougher. Two, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 3: look at what might be going right in in you know,
- 3:26Speaker 3: where there might be hope and in that type of thing,
- 3:29Speaker 3: and who might be doing a good job amidst all this,
- 3:32Speaker 3: and and uh, that's all I was just thought. I
- 3:36Speaker 3: thought this was going on. I was thinking. I was
- 3:39Speaker 3: just thinking, that's it. That's a lot tougher. So as
- 3:41Speaker 3: I was thinking about that this morning, I was looking
- 3:45Speaker 3: at today's rundown and I said, oh, you know, coordinators
- 3:49Speaker 3: are going at ten thirty or eleven or whenever, whatever
- 3:52Speaker 3: it was is, I'm going to go down there and
- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna go check it out. Make sure
- 3:55Speaker 3: the fellas, Yeah, make sure the make sure everyone sees
- 3:58Speaker 3: me and you know, how are things going, Because from
- 4:03Speaker 3: you know, reading transcripts and seeing clips av P, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 3: he's kind of impressed me up there, So I would
- 4:10Speaker 3: agree with that.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I think he comes across well in those press conferences.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I'm going to go down there and I'm gonna go
- 4:14Speaker 3: check it out live. And you know, I think I
- 4:18Speaker 3: think despite what everyone has to say about the play calling,
- 4:23Speaker 3: I think he knows what he's doing. It's just an impression.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I'm not in the meeting rooms. I don't know for sure,
- 4:31Speaker 3: but he just seems like a guy who knows what
- 4:33Speaker 3: he's talking about. Maybe maybe his system's a little antiquated,
- 4:38Speaker 3: I don't know. Seems to be what everyone's trying to
- 4:41Speaker 3: do these days. But I do know for sure that
- 4:46Speaker 3: he doesn't have the horses that a lot of teams have.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Certainly the offensive line is every week a different situation.
- 4:55Speaker 3: You know, he didn't pick these wide receivers. But I
- 4:58Speaker 3: think I think he's doing a pretty good job despite
- 5:02Speaker 3: all that.
- 5:03Speaker 5: I really do.
- 5:04Speaker 6: I agree with you. I think he's getting a lot
- 5:06Speaker 6: of flak that isn't necessarily all warranted. I think he's
- 5:09Speaker 6: in a really tough spot. I think he's a good guy.
- 5:11Speaker 6: I think he's a football guy, like I feel, I
- 5:14Speaker 6: felt good about him after his first couple of press conferences.
- 5:16Speaker 6: But it's just look what you're asking him to work with,
- 5:19Speaker 6: and obviously there's a huge spotlight on him. I think,
- 5:22Speaker 6: if anything, he's been a little conservative maybe with his
- 5:25Speaker 6: play calling. But what are you going to do?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:27Speaker 6: I think they're on how many rotations of the O line?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah? I didn't like his answer today on the on
- 5:33Speaker 3: the second and one, like we should be able to
- 5:36Speaker 3: get that yard. Yeah you should, but you also have
- 5:38Speaker 3: the whole you know. But I've had that problem with
- 5:40Speaker 3: offensive coordinators down the line on second and one. I've
- 5:44Speaker 3: you know, I've also been doing this blog that I
- 5:47Speaker 3: do during the game for you know, a couple of
- 5:49Speaker 3: decades now, probably, and from Trolley Weiss to Josh McDaniels
- 5:54Speaker 3: to Bill O'Brien, everyone's always complaining about the play calling
- 5:59Speaker 3: from time to time. And guess when they complain when
- 6:02Speaker 3: the play didn't work, you know. So, like I'm not
- 6:07Speaker 3: one to like criticize an offensive coordinator for play calling
- 6:11Speaker 3: unless it's obviously oh that was a dumb call in
- 6:15Speaker 3: a certain situation. But when plays go well, oh my god.
- 6:20Speaker 3: You know, offensive coordinators are great, and when they don't,
- 6:23Speaker 3: they get the blame. So I don't go there. I
- 6:26Speaker 3: think he's I think he's doing okay.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I would say for the most part
- 6:31Speaker 4: of the play calling thing always drives me crazy. Yeah
- 6:34Speaker 4: when this in You're exactly right, a play doesn't work
- 6:38Speaker 4: and it draws all kinds of criticism. You and I
- 6:40Speaker 4: are lockstep. On the second and one, we thought, you know,
- 6:43Speaker 4: they had just thrown the ball twice for good games.
- 6:45Speaker 4: I think it was like fourteen and nine. You know
- 6:48Speaker 4: you're in a two minute dro keep it going, And
- 6:50Speaker 4: I thought that call was But I'm not going to
- 6:52Speaker 4: like just sort of like, well, he stinks because he
- 6:54Speaker 4: called a run play on second and one. I agree
- 6:57Speaker 4: with his larger point. He called it the two most
- 6:59Speaker 4: disappointing plays of the day. Right, it's not because he
- 7:03Speaker 4: ran the ball. It's because they failed, right, like they
- 7:06Speaker 4: absolutely to me they dropped the ball. You need you
- 7:09Speaker 4: need to be able to get a yard on one
- 7:11Speaker 4: of those two plays. I didn't like the second down
- 7:13Speaker 4: and one and third and one get the dam you
- 7:15Speaker 4: gotta get the first down so you don't have to punt,
- 7:17Speaker 4: right Like, I get that, but I didn't like it.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I didn't like sort of the lack of conversation before
- 7:22Speaker 3: about other coordinator.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Right, absolutely, And I didn't like the lack of urgency
- 7:26Speaker 4: on that either, with you know, the sort of we're
- 7:29Speaker 4: not really in hurry up mode. We have our timeouts,
- 7:31Speaker 4: which he admitted today as part of that answer. But
- 7:34Speaker 4: I would say overall, I I agree with with with
- 7:37Speaker 4: Alex and Fred about you know, I think he's doing
- 7:40Speaker 4: a pretty good job with a young quarterback. And that's
- 7:43Speaker 4: really a number one, that's probably one through five on
- 7:46Speaker 4: my list of priorities. Let's see if you guys can
- 7:49Speaker 4: take care of this young talented kid and make him
- 7:53Speaker 4: better and have him improve week to week. And you
- 7:56Speaker 4: know some of that I like the way he's handled
- 7:58Speaker 4: Drake May and do I agree with a lot of
- 8:01Speaker 4: other things that they've done. No, I don't like the system.
- 8:04Speaker 4: I don't like the you know what they're trying to
- 8:05Speaker 4: do offensively. I don't see a whole ton.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Of creativity there.
- 8:09Speaker 4: But more way more important to me is how Drake
- 8:13Speaker 4: may develops, and I think they've done a good job
- 8:15Speaker 4: with that. I think he should get a big part
- 8:18Speaker 4: of the credit for that.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I think if the season ended today, I would keep
- 8:21Speaker 3: a VP just as much, you know, for continuity as
- 8:26Speaker 3: I think he's doing an okay job, because I don't
- 8:29Speaker 3: want to be this team that with a young quarterback
- 8:31Speaker 3: every year you're giving him a new coordinator and perhaps
- 8:35Speaker 3: new system. You know, I don't want to be in
- 8:38Speaker 3: that cycle. So if I can avoid that, I'm going
- 8:41Speaker 3: to avoid it. And you know, right, so, like I said,
- 8:43Speaker 3: right now, if the season ended, I keep him on.
- 8:46Speaker 6: I'm with it.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Yeah, even if you've got a type pants guy, well, oh,
- 8:51Speaker 4: I got to think about that.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah. But but again, so I bring in a type
- 8:56Speaker 3: pants guy if this system is different than we're kind
- 8:59Speaker 3: of starting over. I get it.
- 9:01Speaker 4: It's hard because that's you know, this would be now
- 9:05Speaker 4: five and five years right, you know, you know, you
- 9:08Speaker 4: go mc daniels, Patricia O'Brien, van Pelt and now it's
- 9:12Speaker 4: be a fifth guy in five years. Right in the offense,
- 9:15Speaker 4: it's it should be part of the equation with the
- 9:18Speaker 4: thought process.
- 9:19Speaker 6: Especially when we for so long we like laughed at
- 9:22Speaker 6: the other teams that were just revolving doors for coordinators
- 9:25Speaker 6: because we had these like legends in the building, assistant
- 9:29Speaker 6: coaches for decades, like long, long, long tenures. So it's
- 9:34Speaker 6: like we're not used to that, just like rotation every
- 9:38Speaker 6: other year, and it's just we've seen how stagnant everything's
- 9:41Speaker 6: been because of that.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah, So you know when I see the emails and
- 9:45Speaker 3: we hear the calls, and you know, I listened to
- 9:48Speaker 3: Paul shows, you know, this call of fire, this guy fire,
- 9:51Speaker 3: that guy blow this up, blah blah blah. That's had
- 9:54Speaker 3: a few of those yesterday.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's it's easy. It's easy to do that
- 9:58Speaker 3: when you're two and seven. Everyone should get fired. But
- 10:02Speaker 3: what I hope is that drawd mail really and if
- 10:08Speaker 3: nothing else, is a good evaluator of his of his staff,
- 10:12Speaker 3: and at the end of the season, makes tough decisions
- 10:15Speaker 3: if tough decisions need to be made, and don't worry
- 10:18Speaker 3: about hurting feelings. If there is somebody, you know, an assistant,
- 10:23Speaker 3: a position coach or whatever that he feels he can upgrade,
- 10:27Speaker 3: he needs to make that call. On the same side,
- 10:30Speaker 3: if you know, if someone is you know, in his
- 10:33Speaker 3: mind doing a good job. Don't succumb to the rabble
- 10:39Speaker 3: and support that person. But but look at it, clear eyes,
- 10:43Speaker 3: full heart right, can't lose, can't lose. So that's just
- 10:49Speaker 3: my open.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Tammy Taylor as your wife, can't lose.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I don't know from that, Honey, Britain.
- 10:54Speaker 4: You gotta keep up, you gotta keep up with my crushes,
- 10:56Speaker 4: all right, Okay, Alex new I never.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Watched Friday Night Lights. I heard it was a great show.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Great show.
- 11:03Speaker 6: Yeah, you're a film junkie. I'm surprised in you. You
- 11:06Speaker 6: haven't seen that.
- 11:07Speaker 3: No, I haven't seen that. Have you seen the movie?
- 11:09Speaker 6: No movie show.
- 11:12Speaker 3: That's probably why I didn't see the show.
- 11:13Speaker 6: Tell me that's not worse than me not seeing Jaws.
- 11:17Speaker 3: No, you're not seeing Jaws is worse. Has so much
- 11:20Speaker 3: time legendary, and that's Jaws came up before you were born.
- 11:25Speaker 4: But Friday Nights, the TV show really has very little
- 11:30Speaker 4: to do with.
- 11:30Speaker 6: For I've never dabbled with the TV TV show.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Is I think it's better than the movie? Absolute? Really? Yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 3: that's rare.
- 11:38Speaker 4: I know it's but it's not the same. I mean,
- 11:40Speaker 4: it's not really fair. It's not fair as Larry Johnson
- 11:43Speaker 4: used to say, the football the movie is based on
- 11:48Speaker 4: the book, which is real foot like the real Odessa
- 11:51Speaker 4: Permian High School in Texas, and it's based on the
- 11:54Speaker 4: actual team that's more realistic. The TV show sort of
- 12:00Speaker 4: started with that premise but veered into kind of.
- 12:02Speaker 3: A bus Bissinger right, yeah, the author.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Yes, it kind of veered into a more of a
- 12:12Speaker 4: soap opera kind of thing.
- 12:15Speaker 3: You know, relationships in drama was really really good. So
- 12:19Speaker 3: I guess, I guess my my bottom line message to
- 12:22Speaker 3: everyone is it's really easy to you know, fire everybody.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I asked, we should all just take a step back
- 12:30Speaker 3: and look, you know at the at the gray areas
- 12:35Speaker 3: on the team and and and not just you know,
- 12:38Speaker 3: take the easy way out and see I think the terminal.
- 12:43Speaker 4: You knew that you're going to get me in an argument, right,
- 12:45Speaker 4: you kept you kept talking, You're going to do this.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 4: The one thing I would take a little exception to
- 12:51Speaker 4: is like it's really easy to just pull the plug. No,
- 12:54Speaker 4: that's hard. Those are hard decisions when you when you
- 12:57Speaker 4: bring in someone in first year to just I think
- 13:00Speaker 4: the easy thing to do is, you know, it's we
- 13:03Speaker 4: knew that we're going to be bumps in the road.
- 13:04Speaker 3: We knew the roster was was a little short.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Let's give these guys some time. Yeah, that's the easy
- 13:10Speaker 4: thing to do.
- 13:10Speaker 3: No, I don't think it's I don't think it's easy
- 13:13Speaker 3: for Draw. I think it's easy for fans to say, oh,
- 13:17Speaker 3: just fire everybody. It's not Draw. That's like I said,
- 13:22Speaker 3: he's going to have to make some tough decisions, and
- 13:24Speaker 3: I hope he does it.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Like I said, so you were listening to my shows yesterday, right.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I might have heard forty five minutes to you
- 13:33Speaker 3: because I was driving.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Okay, well that's most of my appearance. Yeah, there were
- 13:40Speaker 4: a handful of calls, you know, Gide's gotta go. He's
- 13:44Speaker 4: not the guy, and I just, you know, I kind
- 13:48Speaker 4: of snapped back at one of the guys and I
- 13:50Speaker 4: was like, well, what do you know, what were you
- 13:53Speaker 4: expecting going into the season. And I understand there have
- 13:55Speaker 4: been things that you didn't expect that haven't happened, but
- 14:00Speaker 4: do you really think he deserves to lose his job?
- 14:03Speaker 4: And Felger jumps in, he goes I do, and I
- 14:09Speaker 4: kind of snapped because I wasn't expecting that, and he said,
- 14:14Speaker 4: I wasn't really a believer in the higher And I said, Okay,
- 14:17Speaker 4: now that's a whole different thing exactly. That's a whole
- 14:20Speaker 4: different argument. It's not you didn't think that it was
- 14:23Speaker 4: a good decision to begin with, and nothing has happened
- 14:25Speaker 4: since to change your mind. So I guess I'm not
- 14:29Speaker 4: going to argue with Felger if that's how you thought
- 14:31Speaker 4: going in. Yeah, there hasn't really been anything that would
- 14:34Speaker 4: change your mind. But the callers are just like the
- 14:38Speaker 4: off the handle.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Yeah. I think Gerard because of the way he was hired,
- 14:43Speaker 3: a lot of people from the start didn't like the process,
- 14:47Speaker 3: you know, didn't like as u Felger put it. You know,
- 14:51Speaker 3: they went on a retreat and Robert Kraft picked his guy.
- 14:55Speaker 3: You know, I don't love I don't love that.
- 14:58Speaker 6: I don't love that. And even if it was how
- 15:00Speaker 6: it happened, I'd wish it wasn't publicized. That's one of
- 15:04Speaker 6: those things I think you can just keep close to
- 15:06Speaker 6: the chest.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Well, I think, and I think Kraft had to say, well,
- 15:11Speaker 3: how did you come to the you know, the decision
- 15:13Speaker 3: to hire Gerroid Mao who has never even been a coordinator,
- 15:17Speaker 3: so he had to come up with some story. You know.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I went back at the time and said, you know,
- 15:24Speaker 3: it was Craft's instincts to hire Belichick, you know, and
- 15:32Speaker 3: those were that was a pretty good decision. He actually
- 15:36Speaker 3: he also hired Pete Carroll, which Pete Carroll ended up
- 15:39Speaker 3: being a pretty good coach. So the instincts there that
- 15:42Speaker 3: he could be a head coach were good. He just
- 15:45Speaker 3: never gave him a chance. You know, I'm outright saying,
- 15:49Speaker 3: like the ownership here allowed players and coaches to not
- 15:54Speaker 3: respect Pete Carroll the way he should have been respected,
- 15:57Speaker 3: and he didn't have the authority, so he never had
- 15:59Speaker 3: a clear shot. But the decision to make him a
- 16:02Speaker 3: head coach was a good one as well as Belichick.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I would agree with that, you know, as well as Belichick.
- 16:08Speaker 3: So and I think there's other things along the line
- 16:10Speaker 3: that he's made good decisions on. So I trusted his
- 16:16Speaker 3: instincts there and we'll see what happens. You know, maybe
- 16:19Speaker 3: Gerard Mayo isn't the guy, but to me, it's way
- 16:22Speaker 3: too early to make that.
- 16:23Speaker 4: And that was the point that I tried to make yesterday,
- 16:26Speaker 4: is just that, you know, let's give.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Him some time.
- 16:28Speaker 4: And I put Elliott Wolf in this too. Let's we
- 16:31Speaker 4: know that they had a lot of areas that they
- 16:33Speaker 4: were going to be woefully short on in terms of personnel,
- 16:38Speaker 4: and now you add into that the predictable you know,
- 16:42Speaker 4: handful of injuries that they've had, and that's really taken
- 16:46Speaker 4: already what was a roster that was lacking at a
- 16:49Speaker 4: lot of spots, and it's made it really that much worse.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Why not give them a little bit of time to
- 16:56Speaker 4: you know, to put in their their system, to lay
- 16:59Speaker 4: the foundation of what they want as a culture in
- 17:01Speaker 4: the locker room. And for Elliott Wolf what he wants
- 17:04Speaker 4: to augment the roster with in terms of talent, he
- 17:06Speaker 4: wants to be a young team, you know, he wants
- 17:08Speaker 4: to develop the draft and developed team. He wants young
- 17:11Speaker 4: players that he can work with and continue to work with.
- 17:14Speaker 4: So you got to give him some time to work
- 17:15Speaker 4: with them. You can't just say, well, one year it
- 17:17Speaker 4: didn't work, you know, we got to pull the plug.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think as soon as the season ends,
- 17:22Speaker 3: the clock is ticking and from that point on, it's
- 17:26Speaker 3: not gonna be what Juradd says, or how poorly or
- 17:29Speaker 3: well he says it. It's gonna be his actions. You know,
- 17:32Speaker 3: what are they going to do as soon as the
- 17:34Speaker 3: season ends to make this team better and just to
- 17:38Speaker 3: you know, rebuilding two point zero And that's where I'm
- 17:43Speaker 3: gonna judge him, is what he does after this season,
- 17:49Speaker 3: you know, so absolutely, especially with Elliott Wolf. Yeah, he's
- 17:53Speaker 3: another one.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Now there was you know, you can sort of pick at,
- 17:58Speaker 4: like other elements of the structure and how everything was
- 18:02Speaker 4: put together here. And I'm in agreement with you, Freddy
- 18:06Speaker 4: and Alex about time, you know, give them, give them
- 18:09Speaker 4: a little bit of time. I was a little skeptical
- 18:12Speaker 4: way back when this was announced, when Elliott Wolf's sort
- 18:17Speaker 4: of promotion was announced. Remember he said that he was
- 18:20Speaker 4: in charge of the fifty three yep, right, And I said,
- 18:23Speaker 4: I think that that's a problem or a potential problem.
- 18:27Speaker 4: And did you hear even today with some of the
- 18:29Speaker 4: the you know, the comments that Alex van Pelt hadled
- 18:32Speaker 4: Elliott Yeah, you know, being part of the decision process
- 18:36Speaker 4: on and there was some good questions being asked, like
- 18:39Speaker 4: the fine line between trying everything in your power to
- 18:43Speaker 4: put your team in the best position to win that
- 18:44Speaker 4: particular game and getting some young players some experience, some
- 18:48Speaker 4: time figuring out where they fit in, you know, and
- 18:52Speaker 4: obviously Van Pelt's talking about guys like Baker Polk, the
- 18:55Speaker 4: two you know, Robinson he used specifically as an offensive lineman.
- 19:00Speaker 4: And well, how do those conversations go? You know, is
- 19:04Speaker 4: it you with the wide receivers?
- 19:05Speaker 3: Coaches?
- 19:06Speaker 4: And you know, and then he said in Jordan and Elliott,
- 19:10Speaker 4: I don't like that.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like that. Elliott has to say is
- 19:13Speaker 3: who's on the field. I mean, he's involved, but like
- 19:16Speaker 3: and I don't have any problem with him being involved.
- 19:19Speaker 3: My question is who has the final say, And as
- 19:21Speaker 3: long as it's Gerard, I'm good.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, I totally agree. I just don't I
- 19:26Speaker 4: think that if you want to set it up this way,
- 19:28Speaker 4: the general manager picks the players, this is what you
- 19:31Speaker 4: have to work with, you have to let the coaches
- 19:33Speaker 4: just do it.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I agree, and I agree, I don't. I don't know.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Like to me, there's there's room there for conflict.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Well, you're creating the reason why it kind of stood
- 19:43Speaker 3: out to me and maybe it was the same as
- 19:44Speaker 3: you is he made sure that he included Elliott like
- 19:49Speaker 3: toward the end, like you know, like.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Oh, because the question was about is it you with
- 19:56Speaker 4: you know, is it Tyler Hughes is the wide receiver?
- 19:59Speaker 4: You and Tyler and you know in Gerard and then
- 20:03Speaker 4: he was like, yeah, no, those are collaborative, it's you know.
- 20:05Speaker 4: And then he added and he like, no one had
- 20:08Speaker 4: brought up Elliott Will's name.
- 20:09Speaker 3: He threw it in there, right, So that made you,
- 20:11Speaker 3: that made you think about it. But I agree like.
- 20:14Speaker 4: And you know me, I'm often concerned about things well
- 20:17Speaker 4: in advance of when you should be concerned about them.
- 20:19Speaker 8: That's just my to me.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Once spring practices start, the fifty three should be in
- 20:25Speaker 3: should be Gerrod Mail, He should go to you at times,
- 20:29Speaker 3: hey we need to upgrade this position. Who's out there?
- 20:33Speaker 3: But Gerard should be in charge of the fifty three
- 20:35Speaker 3: once it's settled, once he has it, you know, and
- 20:38Speaker 3: obviously on game day that's all Gerard as well. That's
- 20:43Speaker 3: in my opinion, that's how it should work.
- 20:46Speaker 4: So yeah, well, I didn't mean bring everybody down.
- 20:51Speaker 3: No, it's fine, it's just bringing up a point. But
- 20:53Speaker 3: you heard it. I'm glad you were in.
- 20:55Speaker 4: See Fred wasn't in to make sure that everybody was
- 20:57Speaker 4: on their toes today out Yeah, well.
- 20:58Speaker 8: You got to.
- 20:59Speaker 6: You had a clock comments like that, and I don't know.
- 21:02Speaker 6: This is something I've been pondering for a little while
- 21:04Speaker 6: that you guys made me think of. But I know
- 21:07Speaker 6: it's like the butterfly effect and everything, and you can't
- 21:09Speaker 6: really predict the injuries we had. But at the time,
- 21:12Speaker 6: moving Matt Judon just felt really bad to me. I thought,
- 21:17Speaker 6: he's a guy that wanted to be here. He's a
- 21:19Speaker 6: big energy guy. You got rid of Lawrence guy like
- 21:23Speaker 6: those moves at the time didn't didn't really feel like
- 21:26Speaker 6: they were going to be detrimental. But now we're looking
- 21:29Speaker 6: at our run defense and we're looking at Okay, we
- 21:33Speaker 6: don't have Judon anymore. We got rid of Uce, another
- 21:36Speaker 6: guy that actually wanted to be here. By all accounts,
- 21:40Speaker 6: I think are pretty good influences on the young guys
- 21:42Speaker 6: that you're trying to lift up and build a culture,
- 21:46Speaker 6: and then by either trade or injury or legal issues,
- 21:51Speaker 6: you lose these culture guys that are kind of setting
- 21:53Speaker 6: that tone for the group you're trying to bring in
- 21:56Speaker 6: and build up. And maybe they wanted to get away
- 21:59Speaker 6: from the way they were playing defense at the time,
- 22:01Speaker 6: But I thought we were pretty good with defense last year,
- 22:03Speaker 6: and I think if we had this team that we
- 22:05Speaker 6: do in our right now and our only issue really
- 22:08Speaker 6: was building around Drake May and we didn't have any
- 22:11Speaker 6: of the other defensive issues that none of us really anticipated,
- 22:15Speaker 6: I wonder what situation we would be in because Drake
- 22:18Speaker 6: May is the quarterback that we've seen that in a
- 22:20Speaker 6: couple plays he can put together a drive to put
- 22:23Speaker 6: this team ahead. And I if the other side of
- 22:26Speaker 6: the ball wasn't so dysfunctional unpredictably, would this be a fun,
- 22:31Speaker 6: frisky team making a push like to string together wins
- 22:35Speaker 6: at the end of a season and attract more talent,
- 22:38Speaker 6: attract receivers that want to be part of that.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Well, listen, I'll agree with you this. If this defense
- 22:43Speaker 3: was as good as a lot of people thought it
- 22:45Speaker 3: was last year, except for Paul, I think you'd be right.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I think these games would be a lot more interesting.
- 22:52Speaker 3: When it comes to Judon, though, if I can have
- 22:55Speaker 3: Judon from two years ago, I'm with you, yeah, But
- 22:58Speaker 3: I mean, look at what he's done in Atlanta and
- 23:00Speaker 3: you got a third and he was you know, he
- 23:05Speaker 3: was disgruntled and all that stuff, and maybe they knew
- 23:09Speaker 3: a little bit more about where his level of play
- 23:12Speaker 3: was at than we did, and so I can't say
- 23:16Speaker 3: now that, oh we should have kept Judon. No, we
- 23:18Speaker 3: got a third. I think it was pretty good compensation
- 23:21Speaker 3: for a guy like that, and he's done squat in Atlanta.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I like the trade because of the compensation. But I
- 23:28Speaker 4: understand I'm taking it from the side that Alex is
- 23:31Speaker 4: putting it on.
- 23:32Speaker 6: There's intangibles.
- 23:33Speaker 4: It's not just like they also.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Team and that was like Leo not.
- 23:40Speaker 6: To get into the zodiacs, but like that's an ego,
- 23:43Speaker 6: that's a fire that like gts under other guys, and
- 23:47Speaker 6: they just were so tight knit and they love to
- 23:49Speaker 6: be around each other, and I think there's something to
- 23:51Speaker 6: be said for that chemistry.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think that it's also one of the
- 23:57Speaker 4: thinnest positions that on the roster edge edge, like he's
- 24:01Speaker 4: kind of one of one. Yeah, you know, I'll call
- 24:04Speaker 4: a half and no. But like when he was really successful,
- 24:10Speaker 4: it was when Judon was on the other side. Then
- 24:13Speaker 4: last year when Judon only played four games, Usha was
- 24:17Speaker 4: kind of invisible. So you you lost like one and
- 24:20Speaker 4: a half players when you traded Judon, and you didn't
- 24:23Speaker 4: really have anything, you know, in the pipeline to replace them.
- 24:28Speaker 3: I agree with Fred. I think it was a good trade.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I don't think you were gonna I don't think Judoon
- 24:33Speaker 4: was going to be part of anything you were gonna
- 24:34Speaker 4: do successfully. And I think if Judah was here playing
- 24:37Speaker 4: at his peak, they'd be two and seven. I really,
- 24:40Speaker 4: I really believe that.
- 24:41Speaker 3: You know that. I believe that.
- 24:43Speaker 4: I think that they're short on so many different areas.
- 24:47Speaker 4: They would have a hard time. They would have a
- 24:50Speaker 4: hard time with or without him. But Lawrence Guy, Matthew Judon,
- 24:56Speaker 4: maybe if you lost the other guys that you've lost,
- 24:58Speaker 4: it wouldn't be as big of a problem defensively.
- 25:01Speaker 6: But that's what I'm saying it. Guy at the time
- 25:05Speaker 6: was like, Okay, they have Barmore, Like it's gonna be
- 25:08Speaker 6: fine right now, Barmos, Like you know what I mean.
- 25:10Speaker 6: It's just that's what I mentioned about like the butterfly.
- 25:12Speaker 3: So here's the question that obviously there's no right answer to.
- 25:16Speaker 3: But had they known that they was gonna they were
- 25:19Speaker 3: gonna lose Bentley, and they were gonna lose Peppers, and
- 25:22Speaker 3: they're gonna lose Barmore, Well, they knew that Barbara was
- 25:25Speaker 3: out at that time when they traded Judon, Oh they did, Okay,
- 25:29Speaker 3: oh never mind.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Well just just barmore the rest of its right, But
- 25:32Speaker 4: all these.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Other guys, you know, would they been as have been
- 25:35Speaker 3: as willing to get rid of Judan or I've heard
- 25:38Speaker 3: people say this. They knew they weren't going to do
- 25:41Speaker 3: much this year, you know, and winning a couple extra
- 25:44Speaker 3: games with Judon wasn't gonna that doesn't move the needle
- 25:49Speaker 3: for them. The third is more valuable at this point
- 25:51Speaker 3: because they just knew this was not going to be
- 25:53Speaker 3: a season where wins are going to be that important.
- 25:56Speaker 3: It's going to be who's who are we going to
- 25:59Speaker 3: keep for the future in the development of Drake May
- 26:01Speaker 3: That's the two most important things for this season. And
- 26:04Speaker 3: so then they were more willing to give up a
- 26:06Speaker 3: guy like Juden.
- 26:07Speaker 6: Yeah, and I get the one.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I understand what you're saying.
- 26:10Speaker 6: It's all hindsight, but you just like, I don't know,
- 26:16Speaker 6: I guess a couple more wins this year in the
- 26:19Speaker 6: grand scheme of things like who cares you want the
- 26:22Speaker 6: draft pick anyways, But what it does for the morale
- 26:25Speaker 6: of the guys, Like I think back to Detroit a
- 26:29Speaker 6: couple of years ago when they no one cared about Detroit.
- 26:33Speaker 6: They weren't really great, and they went on like a
- 26:35Speaker 6: little run at the end of the season and they
- 26:37Speaker 6: were fun and exciting and then their success just propelled
- 26:40Speaker 6: from there. And that's like a perfect scenario for me
- 26:42Speaker 6: with this team, to just catch fire at the end
- 26:44Speaker 6: of the season, get people excited, and what does that do?
- 26:48Speaker 6: What does that attract?
- 26:49Speaker 3: Right?
- 26:49Speaker 4: But the difference, I would say, and I love that
- 26:52Speaker 4: Lions comparison. A lot of people have been talking about
- 26:55Speaker 4: it lately. The difference is it was more like to
- 26:59Speaker 4: me the ninety three one that we use Mike, you know,
- 27:02Speaker 4: and Mike's here, everybody see wicked, wicked, handsome Mic.
- 27:05Speaker 8: We'll right into.
- 27:06Speaker 9: It, all right, all right, friendly, I can't.
- 27:14Speaker 6: What was it like?
- 27:20Speaker 5: So catchy?
- 27:21Speaker 3: This one?
- 27:22Speaker 7: Really?
- 27:23Speaker 3: Watching is the best one? Watching? Matt. As soon as
- 27:26Speaker 3: Mike sat down, he was.
- 27:27Speaker 8: Just waiting, I said, was going on, I get the
- 27:30Speaker 8: song ready, And I was like, do you think there's
- 27:32Speaker 8: ever like smoke in the mix? Like maybe get a
- 27:34Speaker 8: little you know, the smoke comes in?
- 27:36Speaker 3: Maybe not.
- 27:37Speaker 8: I'm glad for the studio. No, I don't want to
- 27:40Speaker 8: jump on.
- 27:41Speaker 4: We talk about the ninety three to one, like I
- 27:44Speaker 4: think the Detroit one is similar and the just the Fred.
- 27:48Speaker 4: You probably are not as aware of the actual numbers
- 27:51Speaker 4: that Alex is talking about. Dan Campbell's first year, Jared
- 27:54Speaker 4: Gross's first year, they were winless after like eleven games,
- 27:59Speaker 4: and they went three and three down the stretch, So
- 28:02Speaker 4: they ended up going three thirteen and one, and you're like, oh, okay,
- 28:05Speaker 4: well whatever, But like they had shown some signs of improvement.
- 28:08Speaker 4: It was a very young team that was playing. It
- 28:12Speaker 4: wasn't like, oh, we won a couple of games because
- 28:14Speaker 4: Matthew Judo and Lawrence guy was still here and they're
- 28:17Speaker 4: not going to be here next year anyway, do you
- 28:19Speaker 4: know what?
- 28:19Speaker 3: Like that to me's the difference. They won. They they
- 28:22Speaker 3: they want the guys who are likely to be there.
- 28:24Speaker 4: They drafted very well, and those guys started to play.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Then they drafted very well again, and they augmented those
- 28:31Speaker 4: young guys with more young guys, and now all of
- 28:33Speaker 4: a sudden, those young guys aren't so young anymore, and
- 28:36Speaker 4: you're want of the best teams in the LEM mean,
- 28:37Speaker 4: you could make a case that Detroit is the best
- 28:39Speaker 4: team in the league right now. That to me is different,
- 28:44Speaker 4: and I'm not saying that for those reasons, I would
- 28:46Speaker 4: have gotten rid of everybody, but whether they won another
- 28:49Speaker 4: couple of games, and I don't believe that would have
- 28:51Speaker 4: been the case, especially as Fred says, I haven't really
- 28:53Speaker 4: been following Atlanta, you know, with Judon, Fred says, he's
- 28:57Speaker 4: done nothing for the Falcons. I don't think he would
- 29:00Speaker 4: have been worth a couple of wins anyway. And even
- 29:03Speaker 4: if he was, I don't necessarily think that helps build
- 29:06Speaker 4: your culture as much as people think because they're not here.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Like if the young guys step in, if Keyon White
- 29:13Speaker 4: all of a sudden, you know, proves that he can
- 29:16Speaker 4: be something more than just kind of a high motor
- 29:20Speaker 4: interior guy, you know, he turns into like a really
- 29:22Speaker 4: disrupted force on a down by you know, down after
- 29:25Speaker 4: down basis, that's worth a lot more than a win
- 29:28Speaker 4: or two.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Do you think bomb and we'll get to you in
- 29:31Speaker 3: a sec. But you hold on time. Do you think
- 29:33Speaker 3: bar Moore, if he's you know, if obviously, if he's
- 29:37Speaker 3: you know, clear to go, is it worth for him
- 29:40Speaker 3: to get in for the last two or three games
- 29:42Speaker 3: or should he just wait till next year?
- 29:45Speaker 8: I think I think for what Alex was saying, I
- 29:46Speaker 8: think he can give you a spark. He can he
- 29:48Speaker 8: can help, you know, get that thing that she was,
- 29:50Speaker 8: you know, just talking about. It's great topic though, Like
- 29:53Speaker 8: I mean, just to jump into my little report here,
- 29:57Speaker 8: because this is exactly what Jonathan Jones said, you know,
- 30:00Speaker 8: was asked two and seven, is it hard to stay motivated?
- 30:03Speaker 8: And he said, it's a different vibe right now. He said,
- 30:05Speaker 8: there's a lot of young guys on the team, and
- 30:08Speaker 8: they're all hungry still. And he said, a couple of
- 30:10Speaker 8: years ago, in twenty twenty one, twenty twenty two, when
- 30:12Speaker 8: it started not going so good, you had some veterans.
- 30:15Speaker 8: He kind of trailed off there, and but the you know,
- 30:17Speaker 8: the implication was that veterans used to winning, when it
- 30:20Speaker 8: starts to go bad, those are the guys you kind
- 30:22Speaker 8: of lose. Whereas right now, like Alex was saying, you
- 30:24Speaker 8: have a litt little bit of a young team, a
- 30:26Speaker 8: little bit of a young spark, and these guys they
- 30:28Speaker 8: just want to get back on the field, They want
- 30:29Speaker 8: to perform, they want to get another chance to go
- 30:31Speaker 8: out there and show what they can do. So I
- 30:33Speaker 8: do think it feeds into what you know, you guys
- 30:35Speaker 8: are saying, and that it could line up a vote
- 30:38Speaker 8: a confidence for this team that they're headed in the
- 30:39Speaker 8: right direction, that this coaching staff can pull them together.
- 30:43Speaker 3: And I would imagine for young guys who just in
- 30:45Speaker 3: the league, who haven't experience winning, a guy like Devin mccordy,
- 30:48Speaker 3: who great guy of course, puts a different type of
- 30:52Speaker 3: pressure on them than they're feeling right now, you know,
- 30:55Speaker 3: and it's a guy like you know, he knows how
- 30:57Speaker 3: to do it and what it takes to win. And
- 31:00Speaker 3: maybe that kind of pressure isn't what they need right now.
- 31:03Speaker 3: You know, they need the more development pressure, more individual
- 31:06Speaker 3: pressure your game, not the overall team, but you need
- 31:10Speaker 3: to get better, not you know what I mean.
- 31:13Speaker 4: J Javon Baker. They need to show that they're NFL
- 31:16Speaker 4: players right right, Like that's their pressure, Yeah, establishing themselves
- 31:20Speaker 4: as players in this league.
- 31:22Speaker 8: I give it Fret saying though, where it seems like
- 31:24Speaker 8: that team and guys would come in it's like the
- 31:27Speaker 8: standard is super Bowl. That's the standard around here.
- 31:29Speaker 3: And that's kind of unrealistic right now.
- 31:31Speaker 8: That's unrealistic, you know that. And I mean it's hard
- 31:34Speaker 8: because you want to still have high standards and expect
- 31:37Speaker 8: that the guys can, you know, maybe not play on
- 31:39Speaker 8: that level, but they know that what they have to
- 31:41Speaker 8: do to get there.
- 31:42Speaker 3: But there's about ten they're having some flexibility.
- 31:46Speaker 8: Without feeling like, oh God, if I don't you know,
- 31:48Speaker 8: play right, I'm going to derail this whole ship. It's
- 31:50Speaker 8: everybody understands where they're at right now.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Yeah, for bar more specifically in your question, like it's
- 31:55Speaker 4: all funny, I think you and I had this conversation
- 31:58Speaker 4: off air the other day, Right, Mike, it has to
- 32:02Speaker 4: be one hundred percent about the health. So I have
- 32:06Speaker 4: to think that they're not even contemplating this unless there's
- 32:09Speaker 4: like one hundred percent certainty on the doctors that whatever
- 32:15Speaker 4: they've done to alleviate the problem has been done and successful. Right,
- 32:19Speaker 4: otherwise you're not even talking about it. But if that's
- 32:23Speaker 4: all happened, and I don't know that it has, I'm
- 32:27Speaker 4: just like Gerrod keeps saying, it's closer. It kind of
- 32:30Speaker 4: confuses me closer to what though exactly like, yeah, to me,
- 32:34Speaker 4: either a blood clot problem is resolved or it isn't. Yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 4: I don't know how you get close to being resolved.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Well, but but but even once the blood clot thing
- 32:42Speaker 3: is resolved, there's getting your strength back and getting into
- 32:46Speaker 3: football shape. Yeah, I just don't think that there's time.
- 32:50Speaker 8: He's been around a lot. I mean, I don't know what.
- 32:52Speaker 8: I don't know spend point, but you see him around
- 32:54Speaker 8: a lot. I mean I know, initially a few weeks
- 32:56Speaker 8: didn't see him around all, and then all of a
- 32:57Speaker 8: sudden he's kind of in the locker room. Hey, it's
- 32:58Speaker 8: good to see him. But now it seems like whenever
- 33:00Speaker 8: we're going out to practice or and he's around working
- 33:03Speaker 8: out too. I mean, I don't know how close it
- 33:05Speaker 8: is to real.
- 33:06Speaker 3: How does it look, you know, like does he look
- 33:08Speaker 3: bigger or smaller? Looks to me? Same?
- 33:10Speaker 7: Okay.
- 33:11Speaker 4: I mean I would say that if everything medically is
- 33:14Speaker 4: on board, I would absolutely bring him back and play,
- 33:17Speaker 4: even if just for another gamer, just.
- 33:19Speaker 8: To prove to the player that he can come back.
- 33:21Speaker 3: To that point if he comes back for the last
- 33:24Speaker 3: two or three games and all of a sudden because
- 33:27Speaker 3: he's there, key on White, Yeah, like that's exciting, that's exciting. Okay,
- 33:33Speaker 3: I agree.
- 33:33Speaker 8: I agree. Two guys in the inside that can cause
- 33:36Speaker 8: consistent disruption. I mean it's you.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Know, it'll be the run game looks better.
- 33:40Speaker 8: I don't know what this team's gonna look like next year.
- 33:42Speaker 8: The will obviously be you know, some changes in additions
- 33:44Speaker 8: and stuff. But I would say the key on White,
- 33:45Speaker 8: Christian Barmore of it all that is intriguing to me,
- 33:47Speaker 8: and that's, you know, something to build around for this defense.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Okay, all right, what else from the locker room.
- 33:53Speaker 8: Yeah, we heard from Antonio Gibson. We heard from Trey Jacobs. Uh,
- 33:57Speaker 8: you know, he was he was funny. You know, everybody's
- 33:59Speaker 8: got to ask him about the last play with you know,
- 34:01Speaker 8: with Drake. He called it the last play, like we
- 34:03Speaker 8: don't we're just gonna ignore.
- 34:04Speaker 3: What happened over time.
- 34:05Speaker 4: But but he said, that is what Patriots fanish.
- 34:08Speaker 8: He was like, I didn't even know we threw it.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Like I was like, I saw he threw it.
- 34:13Speaker 7: I didn't know.
- 34:13Speaker 8: Remondra had caught it. So all those guys were just,
- 34:16Speaker 8: you know, really impressed with with Drake. You can see
- 34:18Speaker 8: he's having an impact on these guys and they have
- 34:21Speaker 8: that kind of because shake their head like yeah, like man,
- 34:25Speaker 8: that's a good play. Antonio Gibson a little quiet, reserved.
- 34:29Speaker 8: I don't know, I just he's you know, I mean
- 34:31Speaker 8: some pointed questions credit, you know, to our friend Taylor
- 34:34Speaker 8: Kyle said, you know, you've been kind of known for
- 34:36Speaker 8: your pass catching skill third down back. You haven't really
- 34:39Speaker 8: gotten involved in that this year, And he talked a
- 34:42Speaker 8: lot about you know, I'm just I'm trying to what
- 34:44Speaker 8: was the word he said, I'm trying to change up
- 34:45Speaker 8: how I'm doing things a little bit.
- 34:46Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 34:47Speaker 8: He was implying that he had to make changes. Didn't
- 34:50Speaker 8: get into too much to Yeah, yeah, so I don't know,
- 34:53Speaker 8: there was a little something going on there, maybe beneath
- 34:55Speaker 8: the surface with him. I mean, I think we all
- 34:57Speaker 8: are kind of like curious with Paul You've mentioned when
- 35:00Speaker 8: he got in there for Ronde a couple of weeks ago.
- 35:01Speaker 8: We haven't really seen much of him. I know he's
- 35:03Speaker 8: had an injury as well that he's dealing with. But
- 35:06Speaker 8: but yeah, those were those were the three guys we
- 35:08Speaker 8: heard from Jay Jones. You know, Jones just got such
- 35:10Speaker 8: a perspective from a guy that's been here, and you know,
- 35:12Speaker 8: I just I do think that was the most interesting
- 35:14Speaker 8: comment to me though, is that it's just a different
- 35:16Speaker 8: vibe right now at two and seven.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Then were you win the locker room or the video room? Well,
- 35:21Speaker 3: I do both. Fred.
- 35:21Speaker 8: I make sure I make sure I get in and
- 35:23Speaker 8: get a feel because you know, I don't know. You
- 35:25Speaker 8: might ask me what the mood in the locker room
- 35:26Speaker 8: was like, and I want to have an answer. A
- 35:28Speaker 8: little quieter in the locker room today though little not
- 35:30Speaker 8: not as many people going on. So I got all
- 35:32Speaker 8: the interviews in the revistable locker room, and then I
- 35:34Speaker 8: just go in and get the vibes. He with the
- 35:37Speaker 8: small press, let's say smaller, definitely noticed that people today, Yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 8: counted there?
- 35:42Speaker 10: What was?
- 35:42Speaker 8: What?
- 35:43Speaker 5: What do we do?
- 35:44Speaker 3: Oh?
- 35:44Speaker 8: The honor to you attending? The coordinators?
- 35:46Speaker 3: Well you missed my opening monologue. I have to watch
- 35:49Speaker 3: I watch them that.
- 35:49Speaker 8: I always rewatch them evaluate my perform performance.
- 35:54Speaker 4: So yeah, I've definitely noticed the media contingent is getting.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Smaller and smaller. Tighten it up, you.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Know, especially you know Wednesday is generally regular and then
- 36:06Speaker 4: Thursday Friday, get the quarterback tails off a little bit.
- 36:08Speaker 8: Quarterback and the coach and yeah tomorrow will be dead.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Had a game last night, so Celtics game.
- 36:14Speaker 8: To yeah, yeah, well yeah, poor Jeremy Springer. He goes
- 36:18Speaker 8: at one thirty on Fridays now, and it's like, carare
- 36:20Speaker 8: interest time of the NBA regular season game last night.
- 36:23Speaker 8: If I heard you weren't there to boost Steve Kerr, No,
- 36:29Speaker 8: but were you? You're just probably bulling him through your TV.
- 36:32Speaker 6: I would imagine I was so lame yesterday. I fell
- 36:34Speaker 6: sleep so early. I think I fell asleep in the
- 36:36Speaker 6: second quarter of that game. Too much pickleball, too much
- 36:39Speaker 6: pickleball military, kind of a pick a ball hater. Honestly,
- 36:45Speaker 6: I'm in Fred's camp like it's it's for like non
- 36:49Speaker 6: athletic people that don't want to play.
- 36:52Speaker 3: That's exactly what it is.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Yeah, that's kind of the whole point.
- 36:56Speaker 3: I don't like the dumbing down of hate.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't like the dumbing down in the the
- 37:01Speaker 6: watering down of tennis like.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Tennis, if you can play tennis.
- 37:07Speaker 6: Scar loves this event, So I love this event. Scar
- 37:10Speaker 6: has shoes for pickleball. He has like a whole little outfall.
- 37:14Speaker 3: They've got the special playing.
- 37:17Speaker 6: With Ray Kwan McMillan. At first he was playing against
- 37:19Speaker 6: him and I was like, Oh, this that's intimidating. But
- 37:21Speaker 6: then now they're on the same team and I'm like
- 37:23Speaker 6: that's more intimidating. And I'm watching guns coach up and
- 37:26Speaker 6: teach them the rules pickball as they're playing, they're.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Letting me down. Dante probably makes his own paddle right right, right?
- 37:34Speaker 3: You should have you ever played? No, I've never played either.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I've played next, I've played tennis next to a pickleball court.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Now, were you one of those that gets really I mean,
- 37:44Speaker 4: obviously you don't like the sports.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I don't get annoyed.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Like if you lived next to a park, would you,
- 37:48Speaker 4: you know, would you call a nine one one?
- 37:53Speaker 3: There's a lady in the town that I live in
- 37:57Speaker 3: who she lives close to the beach, I guess or
- 38:00Speaker 3: something like that. But there's a pickle ball court next
- 38:03Speaker 3: to her house and she claims she's been trying to
- 38:05Speaker 3: sell her house for a year and she can't sell
- 38:07Speaker 3: it because of the pickleball.
- 38:08Speaker 6: That's I'm calling bs. Of course, there's no inventory on
- 38:12Speaker 6: Cape Cod, right that would get bought up before it
- 38:16Speaker 6: went tomorrow.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Well, she's probably asking too much, you know, well, considering
- 38:20Speaker 4: it's next to a pickleball right, I've never I've never played,
- 38:24Speaker 4: but I would think that would be something I could play.
- 38:27Speaker 3: A little bit like I couldn't like it because they drink.
- 38:29Speaker 3: I could never.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Play tennis because of my achilles.
- 38:32Speaker 3: That's one of the.
- 38:33Speaker 8: Sports, like tennis without the running.
- 38:34Speaker 3: That's one of the sports that they that doctor said specifically.
- 38:38Speaker 6: Although they're getting active, like that's great, that's wonderful, But
- 38:43Speaker 6: it's when you're taking existing tennis courts and making them
- 38:46Speaker 6: ball courts is.
- 38:47Speaker 3: When I have so I I'm not so. I'm not
- 38:50Speaker 3: mad about that. It's just the sword itself.
- 38:52Speaker 4: I look down.
- 38:54Speaker 6: I feel like it's just like private equity threw a
- 38:56Speaker 6: bunch of money into it.
- 38:57Speaker 3: And all of a sudden back in the day, you know,
- 39:00Speaker 3: I remember when racquetball started getting huged and in indoor courts.
- 39:05Speaker 3: They were taking away indoor tennis courts and turning them
- 39:07Speaker 3: into racquetball courts.
- 39:09Speaker 4: I totally remember the racquetball things.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that was a craze. And then outdoors paddle ball
- 39:14Speaker 3: they called it, which was a lot like pickle ball,
- 39:16Speaker 3: except it was in a cage. That started getting some popularity.
- 39:21Speaker 3: So there's always been offshoots that have come up and on.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I expect this one to fade out in about five years,
- 39:28Speaker 3: you know, but surprisingly you know you say, oh, it's
- 39:32Speaker 3: easier because you don't have to run around. I talked
- 39:34Speaker 3: to a doctor, said there's still a lot of pickleball injuries,
- 39:37Speaker 3: like you know, people in their seventies who forget their
- 39:40Speaker 3: seventy and they're pulling achilles and hamstrings.
- 39:44Speaker 6: It's a shorter court and there's it's less of a
- 39:47Speaker 6: distance to travel, so it's like you have to quickly exactly,
- 39:50Speaker 6: you have to move quicker, and there's more lateral movement
- 39:53Speaker 6: in pickleball.
- 39:55Speaker 3: There's certainly like I like I said, I look down
- 39:58Speaker 3: on the sport, but there's still a lot of hand eye,
- 40:00Speaker 3: you know, huge amount of hand eye and quickness that
- 40:03Speaker 3: goes into it. You know, like guys like John McEnroe
- 40:08Speaker 3: are playing like celebrity and he's really good at it
- 40:12Speaker 3: because he was a great net player when it came
- 40:14Speaker 3: to tennis and his hand eye, his you know, he's
- 40:18Speaker 3: so quick. It translated right to the pickle ball courl
- 40:21Speaker 3: I think, I can you have to.
- 40:23Speaker 4: I have to tell you, you're making me very nervous
- 40:25Speaker 4: with that open bottle of soda as you're moving your hand.
- 40:28Speaker 3: My hand christ either very very worried. All right, I'm
- 40:32Speaker 3: very very concerned mother.
- 40:34Speaker 4: But I yeah, the pickleball thing, you know, I don't.
- 40:37Speaker 3: I don't see it. No, I don't see tennis forever,
- 40:41Speaker 3: like the hand eye think. I think that would I
- 40:42Speaker 3: would excel at that. Yeah, man, but the quickness thing.
- 40:45Speaker 3: I'm even resisting the social doubles of tennis, like I
- 40:49Speaker 3: refuse to play doubles. You're purest No, No, it's not
- 40:52Speaker 3: that I'm a purist social. It's not giving in yet.
- 40:55Speaker 3: I'm still singles until I can't. You know, I'm not.
- 40:59Speaker 3: I got news for you.
- 41:00Speaker 4: I saw you play Indian San Diego.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Fifteen years ago. I beat him. Shouldn't be doing that anymore.
- 41:05Speaker 3: I beat him.
- 41:06Speaker 6: It's great for longevity. That's sport for longevity.
- 41:09Speaker 3: It is. It's a great golf.
- 41:11Speaker 6: No bracket sports are number one. There was a study
- 41:14Speaker 6: reason to play golf.
- 41:15Speaker 3: You can, but it doesn't make you healthy.
- 41:17Speaker 6: Yeah, for your longevity.
- 41:19Speaker 11: Yeah, Oh, I thought you mad to play long because
- 41:22Speaker 11: it's really like the course at Living I thought I misunderstood.
- 41:28Speaker 11: I thought by longevity you meant play You can.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Play a long Yeah.
- 41:33Speaker 6: Anyone can ride around in a car and get out.
- 41:35Speaker 3: You don't have to ride around.
- 41:37Speaker 6: I know. But people do because they're lazy.
- 41:39Speaker 3: People do and some people actually some courses require it
- 41:43Speaker 3: now to play generally and money.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Yeah, the private courses, not another courses.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I play all right. Uh eight five five PATS five
- 41:53Speaker 3: hundred is the ACE ticket hotline podcasts with an s
- 41:58Speaker 3: at patriots dot com. And by the way, you know,
- 42:00Speaker 3: I did a call yesterday for people to sign up
- 42:03Speaker 3: for the newsletter. All you have to do is email
- 42:05Speaker 3: podcasts at Patriots dot tons of emails last night. It
- 42:08Speaker 3: came in this morning to all these people at emails.
- 42:10Speaker 3: So we're going to get to get you on the
- 42:12Speaker 3: list hopefully. Well you'll be on the list for tomorrow's distribution.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Make sure you keep your eye out because that's where
- 42:19Speaker 4: Alex runs fast and loose with the journalistic rules and
- 42:21Speaker 4: just makes crap up.
- 42:23Speaker 6: So you're watching, I know I'm not on the show. Well,
- 42:28Speaker 6: I've been listening to the shows every day to put
- 42:31Speaker 6: like the ones that I missed, put the newsletters together,
- 42:33Speaker 6: and all of a sudden, I'm just like patching these.
- 42:35Speaker 6: I guess it's not astray, but.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Oh no, they're not a straight so anything shot.
- 42:41Speaker 6: I thought I thought Paul was an all. I thought
- 42:43Speaker 6: we were close I thought I had a special relationship close.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Anything, anything without giving it away, anything good going.
- 42:50Speaker 6: Into this newsletter, there'll be an editor's note recent comments.
- 42:58Speaker 3: I like the allegation. That's what I'm looking for, conflict, conflict.
- 43:03Speaker 3: I'm just here to provide help. Yea great, All right,
- 43:07Speaker 3: let's get to the phones, Melvin's and Tennessee.
- 43:09Speaker 12: What's up Melvin going on?
- 43:12Speaker 3: Hey?
- 43:13Speaker 12: Hey, my question is too much about the Patriots, But
- 43:18Speaker 12: with uh, I guess other teams outside of the chief
- 43:22Speaker 12: I know, like what the writings in general, since that
- 43:27Speaker 12: they've been playing well, but sometimes court I don't know
- 43:30Speaker 12: if I get them my own there, but since last year,
- 43:32Speaker 12: I can't really always like, by the way, believe in them.
- 43:35Speaker 12: I think they're gonna possibly when they get in the playoffs,
- 43:39Speaker 12: have one of those you know they file apart seem like.
- 43:43Speaker 12: But any team that you all have outside of the
- 43:46Speaker 12: Chiefs that you all feel confident that this could be
- 43:49Speaker 12: the year that they finally get up to hunt well,
- 43:51Speaker 12: you know, represent the aft.
- 43:54Speaker 4: For the particularly Yeah, I know I had Baltimore and Buffalo.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yeah, Baltimore and Buffalo, but you know, Paul mentioned like
- 44:00Speaker 3: Detroit is probably right now, could be the best team
- 44:03Speaker 3: in the NFL, and I think all these other teams,
- 44:05Speaker 3: even Kansas City being undefeated in Baltimore, they have flaws.
- 44:10Speaker 3: You know. Kansas City's offense hasn't looked like it's been
- 44:12Speaker 3: in the in the past, and then Baltimore's defense. But
- 44:16Speaker 3: seems like Detroit is playing the best all around football
- 44:19Speaker 3: right now.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Ye know they I think they're playing the best. I
- 44:23Speaker 4: would have worries about their defense long term, Like I
- 44:26Speaker 4: don't think their defense is very good.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Now it's played pretty well.
- 44:28Speaker 8: Yeah, there's what they just added, uh Zidarius right, Yeah.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Really good move to replace Aiden Hutchinson.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Yeah. I think if there's a one team that could
- 44:38Speaker 3: in the AFC that can beat the Chiefs, it's gonna
- 44:40Speaker 3: be Buffalo. I think I like Buffalo's chances.
- 44:44Speaker 4: I like Buffalo's chances better because I think that they've
- 44:47Speaker 4: played very well against Kansas City. I know they've lost
- 44:49Speaker 4: in the playoffs, but they played more like themselves again
- 44:55Speaker 4: and they beat them in the regular season. They've played Baltimore,
- 44:58Speaker 4: seems like they have a mental block with Kansas City.
- 45:00Speaker 4: They don't they don't beat them regular season. They don't
- 45:03Speaker 4: beat that chance week one, you know, so I think
- 45:07Speaker 4: if you're asking me what I think the best team
- 45:08Speaker 4: is Melvin in the AFC, I think it's Baltimore. I
- 45:11Speaker 4: think they have the best talent in the AFC. We'll
- 45:14Speaker 4: see if they can get over the hump.
- 45:16Speaker 8: Yeah. I mean I wouldn't sleep on Sincy too either.
- 45:18Speaker 8: I think they're just team you don't really want to
- 45:20Speaker 8: play in the playoffs.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I just don't think they're going to get there.
- 45:23Speaker 8: I don't think they get to the playoffs.
- 45:24Speaker 4: I mean they could because obviously that's you know, the
- 45:27Speaker 4: sixth and seventh, those those last it's going to be
- 45:29Speaker 4: a nine and eight team probably, you know, you know,
- 45:32Speaker 4: I don't think you're going to.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Have to Well, they got a big game this week. Yeah,
- 45:35Speaker 3: tonight tonight, tonight tonight. Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 45:41Speaker 13: Hey guys, Hi, how are you doing?
- 45:44Speaker 7: Hi?
- 45:44Speaker 3: Todd Man.
- 45:46Speaker 13: So, I talked with John Rook yesterday on his show,
- 45:49Speaker 13: and he said he's known a VP for all a
- 45:52Speaker 13: VP's sports plays, So he followed him in high school,
- 45:55Speaker 13: he was reporting on him and through college and all
- 45:58Speaker 13: the rest of it. He said he feels that a
- 46:01Speaker 13: VP is being held back, that he's not being allowed
- 46:04Speaker 13: to use his knowledge because he said he's brilliant. He
- 46:08Speaker 13: says he talked Tom, he's known him, he's a friend,
- 46:12Speaker 13: and the guy can just you know, know sports, you know,
- 46:15Speaker 13: it's football.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Did he cite any evidence for your take on there, Well,
- 46:19Speaker 3: that's before my take. Did John Rook cite any evidence
- 46:24Speaker 3: for why he thinks he's being held back?
- 46:27Speaker 13: Well, he seemed to think that he wasn't being allowed
- 46:30Speaker 13: to be creative. And he said that Alex dun Pelt
- 46:33Speaker 13: is very creative and has very you know, he can
- 46:35Speaker 13: do schemes, he's got really great ideas and that you know,
- 46:38Speaker 13: falling throughout his career. He talked to him, and he's
- 46:41Speaker 13: known him for such a long time, and he sees
- 46:43Speaker 13: that he's just not being allowed to, you know, give
- 46:47Speaker 13: the complexity or the creativity to the to the offense.
- 46:50Speaker 13: And I'm I was kind of flabbergasted when he said
- 46:53Speaker 13: that to me, and I didn't I couldn't see it.
- 46:57Speaker 13: But I don't know enough. I really don't know enough
- 47:00Speaker 13: about coaching and that whole ideology of building an offense
- 47:03Speaker 13: to be able to you know, prose that that. So
- 47:06Speaker 13: I thought, maybe if you guys Eanly be here can
- 47:09Speaker 13: help with this cussion a little bit.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Here's what I would say. I mean, I mean, you
- 47:12Speaker 3: say that he's a close friend of his, So again,
- 47:15Speaker 3: there's a filter there that he's looking through. The Other
- 47:18Speaker 3: thing is that would make me dubious about it is
- 47:21Speaker 3: AVP has been around for quite a.
- 47:22Speaker 4: While and no one's ever given him that kind of lad.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Of exactly well, not not only that kind of latitude,
- 47:27Speaker 3: but he hasn't earned that type of uh, you know,
- 47:31Speaker 3: reputation as being a creative offense.
- 47:33Speaker 4: But what I'm saying is he's been in coaching for
- 47:35Speaker 4: twenty years, right, and no one's ever even allowed him
- 47:38Speaker 4: to call plays, let alone design and offense. So is
- 47:42Speaker 4: everybody just sort of missing the boat on Alex van Pelt?
- 47:45Speaker 3: Right? Maybe?
- 47:46Speaker 4: And I'm not telling you that, Todd. I have no idea.
- 47:49Speaker 3: I have no idea. They could be yeah, yeah, and I.
- 47:52Speaker 4: Have John might John might be one thousand percent right,
- 47:55Speaker 4: I have no idea. I'm just saying. So Green Bay
- 47:58Speaker 4: didn't want him to advise the offense. Thanks, thanks, Cleveland
- 48:01Speaker 4: didn't want him to since I didn't want him to.
- 48:04Speaker 4: But everybody's just sort of holding him back to Bendrends.
- 48:09Speaker 3: Yeah, like he came in. He came into this job
- 48:12Speaker 3: with kind of the reputation of being an understudy all
- 48:15Speaker 3: his all his life.
- 48:17Speaker 4: Now drew Bledsoe is another guy who speaks ridiculously highly
- 48:20Speaker 4: of Alex van Pelt. They were teammates in Buffalo. He
- 48:24Speaker 4: thinks he's going to do a really, really good job.
- 48:27Speaker 4: But these guys know one like, I mean, Fred started
- 48:30Speaker 4: off before you got him Mike out, you know, so
- 48:32Speaker 4: you don't have to go back and listen to appreciate
- 48:35Speaker 4: Fred was Fred sort of likes listening to Alex man
- 48:39Speaker 4: Pell thinks he presents well, and I would agree. I
- 48:42Speaker 4: think every week I think he comes across very well.
- 48:45Speaker 4: So these are people that like him and are impressed
- 48:48Speaker 4: by him. So, like that doesn't necessarily mean he's great, yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 4: just because you know he has really I.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Talked to one person who thought that over the years
- 48:58Speaker 3: he's been a little bit discriminated against because of the
- 49:01Speaker 3: way he looks, he's a little heavier. But I don't
- 49:05Speaker 3: see that. A lot of facts, there's been a lot
- 49:06Speaker 3: of you know, Andy Reid and Mike holm Grin and
- 49:10Speaker 3: Charlie Weiss. You know, I don't see Mike McCarthy, but
- 49:13Speaker 3: somebody actually did say that. I'm not making it up.
- 49:15Speaker 6: I mean, Mike McDaniel is like one hundred and fifty pounds.
- 49:18Speaker 8: I think I go that way.
- 49:21Speaker 6: You know, I'd rather I can put.
- 49:27Speaker 3: If you're having and if you can't wear tight pants,
- 49:29Speaker 3: then it's got no use for you, right.
- 49:31Speaker 8: You got to be skinny to wear tight pants, not
- 49:33Speaker 8: you're too big and the pants are naturally tight. It's
- 49:36Speaker 8: a little difference there.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Marquees in Philadelphia. What's up, Marquis?
- 49:41Speaker 7: Hey?
- 49:41Speaker 14: It was going on Big Watcher. I love you guys, man,
- 49:45Speaker 14: I asked your questions. So yesterday someone talked about how
- 49:49Speaker 14: we were doing seven in comparison to you yesterday, I
- 49:51Speaker 14: mean the last year, and I talked about this my
- 49:54Speaker 14: podcast as well, and I think this two and seven
- 49:57Speaker 14: is a lot better because, for one, we actually have
- 50:00Speaker 14: a quarterback. We look forward to watching Black Ship. We
- 50:03Speaker 14: weren't very watchable and years before not very watchable, honestly,
- 50:08Speaker 14: so I think this year is much better. We have
- 50:10Speaker 14: something to look forward to. And then as one of
- 50:12Speaker 14: the players that we do have since the deadline set,
- 50:15Speaker 14: I think their job is now just to show their
- 50:18Speaker 14: best foot And also my second question is, well, also,
- 50:24Speaker 14: how do you pull? That's the big question. And then
- 50:26Speaker 14: my second question is this roster that we talk about
- 50:30Speaker 14: how bad it is. It's really bad like what we
- 50:32Speaker 14: see week the week, but on paper, and it's healthy.
- 50:35Speaker 14: I think this team could possibly be like four and three.
- 50:38Speaker 14: And I think that if we were healthy, we wouldn't
- 50:41Speaker 14: be talking as bad about the team Drake May or
- 50:43Speaker 14: the receivers if we had to help around them. Tatty
- 50:47Speaker 14: got put about that blow.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Okay, thanks Mikey.
- 50:51Speaker 4: So I would ask you know, in that scenario, is everybody.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Else healthy too?
- 50:57Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 50:57Speaker 4: Like, so did you play Tua and not Tyler Huntley?
- 51:02Speaker 7: Like that?
- 51:03Speaker 4: All that stuff matters, like because that was a game
- 51:05Speaker 4: that you could have won. But they averaged twenty seven
- 51:08Speaker 4: points a game when Tua plays like not the fifteen
- 51:12Speaker 4: that they scored the day that they played you without him.
- 51:15Speaker 4: So I would say that the premise of what Marquise
- 51:19Speaker 4: said I would agree with because of Drake May, he
- 51:22Speaker 4: has been more exciting. Yes, the bottom lineer is the
- 51:24Speaker 4: offense isn't better. The offense what isn't better than it
- 51:27Speaker 4: was with Brissett, And it isn't better than it was
- 51:29Speaker 4: last year.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's bad.
- 51:32Speaker 4: But I like watching Drake may play more than mac Jones.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Absolutely, because last year it got to the point that
- 51:38Speaker 3: you just knew they weren't going to have any success
- 51:40Speaker 3: on offense. And at least I guess it's a mental thing.
- 51:44Speaker 4: But but I don't know what I'm going to get
- 51:46Speaker 4: because this is right?
- 51:48Speaker 3: So what so far right anymore? Yeah, but he's more
- 51:51Speaker 3: exciting to watch, you know, he's capable of more's he's
- 51:57Speaker 3: a dual threat, so he has our interest for now
- 52:00Speaker 3: because we want to see what will happen. So I
- 52:02Speaker 3: get it all right, Let's take a break when we
- 52:06Speaker 3: get back. Fred sez here, we got podcasts at Patriots
- 52:09Speaker 3: dot com emails and then I got to eat, uh,

- 53:36Speaker 16: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 53:40Speaker 16: now meets next for residential delivery only good?
- 53:44Speaker 3: All right?
- 53:47Speaker 17: So as always, you know, Wind's a draw on Wednesdays
- 53:49Speaker 17: is all about changing the page. You know, my message
- 53:51Speaker 17: to the team today is really just about a sense
- 53:54Speaker 17: of urgency, a sense of urgency and everything that we do.
- 53:57Speaker 17: We have a huge test coming up, another road game,
- 54:00Speaker 17: going out to Chicago. It's always exciting, at least for
- 54:03Speaker 17: me personally to go to a stadium, you know, like
- 54:05Speaker 17: our team, you know, play against a team like Chicago
- 54:08Speaker 17: because of the history and the great players that have
- 54:10Speaker 17: come way before me or before the guys in the
- 54:13Speaker 17: locker room, you know, offensively, for these guys, you know,
- 54:17Speaker 17: let's start with the quarterback. He's a He's a very
- 54:19Speaker 17: good player. Like this guy is able to extend plays.
- 54:22Speaker 17: He's very athletic. You know, I watch him a little bit,
- 54:25Speaker 17: you know, coming out and then you know, really just
- 54:28Speaker 17: diving into the tape.
- 54:29Speaker 18: This guy is very athletic. He's elusive.
- 54:32Speaker 17: He has great vision in the pocket, and I would
- 54:34Speaker 17: say he scrambles more to make mcthrows, not as much
- 54:38Speaker 17: on the other side. You know, you go against some
- 54:39Speaker 17: quarterbacks in there, they'll take off and get down the field.
- 54:42Speaker 17: Not saying that he doesn't do that, but he definitely
- 54:45Speaker 17: does a good job keeping his eyes down the field
- 54:47Speaker 17: and making those throws. Talking about you know, just some
- 54:50Speaker 17: of their skill positions. Skill positions they have, you know,
- 54:53Speaker 17: receivers that are very good players. It's a mix, a
- 54:58Speaker 17: combination of young and old. I would say on the team,
- 55:00Speaker 17: you got a guy like a Dunes, you know, who's
- 55:03Speaker 17: a rookie. A lot of us liked him coming out.
- 55:06Speaker 17: And then you also have Mercedes Lewis who's still going.
- 55:09Speaker 17: You know, this is like you're nineteen for a guy
- 55:11Speaker 17: like that. So when you talk about a mix of
- 55:13Speaker 17: older young players, there are definitely two extremes. And even
- 55:17Speaker 17: talking about Mercedes, he's still doing a good job in
- 55:19Speaker 17: his role and his role right now is to go
- 55:21Speaker 17: out there and move bodies, and he does a good
- 55:23Speaker 17: job there. As far as the back concerned, you know,
- 55:26Speaker 17: explosive all had to be at the point of attack,
- 55:28Speaker 17: and you know it starts upfront with us. As far
- 55:31Speaker 17: as the one game is concerned defensively, you know, obviously
- 55:36Speaker 17: they put Billings on ir which is a loss for them.
- 55:39Speaker 17: And saying that, they definitely still have a lot of
- 55:42Speaker 17: players on the field that have played a lot of football.
- 55:44Speaker 17: And I've played at a high level for an extended
- 55:46Speaker 17: period of time. Special teams good in all the phases.
- 55:50Speaker 17: It's going to be a challenge for us, our special
- 55:52Speaker 17: teams unit, I should say, an opportunity for them to
- 55:54Speaker 17: go out there and really you know, strength some games
- 55:57Speaker 17: together as far as special teams play is concerned. And
- 56:00Speaker 17: look forward to those guys preparing today today full padded practice.
- 56:03Speaker 17: We're gonna go out there and we're gonna you know,
- 56:05Speaker 17: we talked about the sense of urgency this morning and
- 56:08Speaker 17: really going out there and competing and hopefully that carries
- 56:10Speaker 17: over to the game.
- 56:12Speaker 10: Rod, you guys are obviously very involved in the quarterback
- 56:16Speaker 10: draft market this past spring. Curious how much like actual
- 56:20Speaker 10: like one on one contact you have with Caleb Williams
- 56:22Speaker 10: during that process.
- 56:24Speaker 17: A lot for me personally, Uh, you know, not much
- 56:27Speaker 17: for me, you know, I think it was pretty clear
- 56:30Speaker 17: cut that he was going to be the first pick overall. Now,
- 56:32Speaker 17: not speaking for the scouting department, I know they've done
- 56:34Speaker 17: all their research and they had multiple interactions with Caleb
- 56:39Speaker 17: on your team.
- 56:40Speaker 3: Any chance to see far.
- 56:43Speaker 14: More today at practice is very much Kayden Wallace.
- 56:47Speaker 18: The three of those they won't be a practice today.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Drug will you consider making changes on your coaching staff
- 56:53Speaker 4: or as a situation where you'd like to see this
- 56:55Speaker 4: group stick together through the post.
- 56:56Speaker 17: I would say, look, we all have to get better,
- 56:58Speaker 17: and it starts, you know, with me, and it starts
- 57:00Speaker 17: with the coaches and that's part of uh, that's part
- 57:03Speaker 17: of coming together as a staff. So we all have
- 57:05Speaker 17: to we all have to get better. We all want
- 57:07Speaker 17: to win games, and we need to win games now.
- 57:08Speaker 17: And I think you know, the sense of urgency message
- 57:11Speaker 17: wasn't just for the players.
- 57:12Speaker 18: It's also for the coaches.
- 57:13Speaker 17: And you know, nothing in this in this world, no
- 57:16Speaker 17: matter who you are, myself included, is guaranteed.
- 57:19Speaker 7: To far more and strange.
- 57:20Speaker 19: The fact that they haven't another deals all season really
- 57:23Speaker 19: so it's it's ring and summer. Is their value in
- 57:26Speaker 19: them coming back is maybe forward the indor different tact
- 57:28Speaker 19: if this is week tend or would you welcome them
- 57:31Speaker 19: back pretty much.
- 57:32Speaker 17: Any passage, Yeah, we would always welcome them back. And again,
- 57:35Speaker 17: like whether we're talking about free agency or trade deadline
- 57:38Speaker 17: or anything, we're always trying to improve as a team
- 57:39Speaker 17: and sometimes they are under your own roof tree.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Right line comes and goes, yesterday, that comes and goes,
- 57:48Speaker 1: nothing happens.
- 57:49Speaker 19: Did you feel like you guys were close to adding
- 57:52Speaker 19: good players just mentioned or was there you know, is
- 57:55Speaker 19: there anything?
- 57:56Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 57:57Speaker 17: You know the one thing about the trade deadline. I
- 57:59Speaker 17: talked about this on Monday, at least in the NFL.
- 58:01Speaker 17: You know, everyone wants to build it up like it's
- 58:03Speaker 17: baseball or basketball or something like that.
- 58:05Speaker 18: It's not. Look, we we do our research.
- 58:09Speaker 17: On everything that's available, and I would say Elliott and
- 58:11Speaker 17: his staff have you know, contacted you know, multiple teams,
- 58:14Speaker 17: and multiple teams have contacted us, just like every other
- 58:17Speaker 17: team in the league.
- 58:18Speaker 13: What do you think a deal didn't get doesn't.
- 58:21Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 58:22Speaker 18: I mean, Look, for us, it's about it's about value, it's.
- 58:26Speaker 17: About you know, thinking about the president and also trying
- 58:29Speaker 17: to get better in the future.
- 58:31Speaker 13: Thank you?
- 58:32Speaker 4: Or do you feel compelled to talk to the team
- 58:34Speaker 4: about the election and how do you sort of navigate that.
- 58:37Speaker 17: Look for us, it was all about Chicago. What I
- 58:39Speaker 17: told them this morning is that you know, I respect
- 58:42Speaker 17: democracy and we have to respect the office.
- 58:44Speaker 18: And you know people.
- 58:45Speaker 17: Went out there and voted, and there's a reason that
- 58:48Speaker 17: we have secret ballots. You don't have to talk about it.
- 58:49Speaker 17: I said the three things, the three things that kind
- 58:52Speaker 17: of you know, the three things that in a locker room.
- 58:56Speaker 18: You have to be.
- 58:57Speaker 17: Careful about is talking about politics, talking about religion, and
- 59:02Speaker 17: back in my day it was talking about Michael Jordan
- 59:04Speaker 17: versus anybody else. Now with these guys, is Lebron versus
- 59:07Speaker 17: anyone else? But those are the three things that always
- 59:09Speaker 17: turned the hot topics.
- 59:11Speaker 9: With no movement at the deadline, you see catalog, yam
- 59:16Speaker 9: a wide receiver. Like seven players on the roster, how
- 59:22Speaker 9: do you expect other moves and how are you going
- 59:25Speaker 9: to try and incorporate you know, those guys getting plenty
- 59:29Speaker 9: of time, particularly the rookies.
- 59:32Speaker 17: I think you hit it on the head like they're
- 59:33Speaker 17: on the roster right now and they're gonna go out
- 59:36Speaker 17: there and practice today. And at the same time, you
- 59:38Speaker 17: know they'll have their opportunities, and it's not about the
- 59:41Speaker 17: amount of opportunities they have. It's about, you know, going
- 59:43Speaker 17: out there and taking full advantage of those opportunities.
- 59:46Speaker 9: Seeking the wide receivers.
- 59:47Speaker 5: I asked for a lot of about jobs for and
- 59:49Speaker 5: that can celebration.
- 59:50Speaker 8: On the sidelines.
- 59:51Speaker 3: What more do you need to see from him?
- 59:54Speaker 9: Jos On One more do you have to see from him?
- 59:57Speaker 9: I'll say, like dry Cote's a journey week that these
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: increased opportunities.
- 1:00:02Speaker 17: What he gets, well, he's been in this league for
- 1:00:04Speaker 17: a long time and he's a professional and he understands, uh,
- 1:00:07Speaker 17: you know, the active and active part of it. And
- 1:00:09Speaker 17: I would say, you know, he just needs to continue
- 1:00:11Speaker 17: to do what he's doing, and that's to go out
- 1:00:12Speaker 17: there and practice hard and be a good teammate.
- 1:00:14Speaker 10: So you expect to continue to carry seven wide receivers on.
- 1:00:17Speaker 14: The active roster.
- 1:00:18Speaker 17: Look, these these guys are on the roster right now.
- 1:00:21Speaker 17: We're always again looking looking to get better and that
- 1:00:24Speaker 17: may be addition through subtraction and maybe.
- 1:00:27Speaker 18: I don't know what group is it is, but we're
- 1:00:29Speaker 18: always looking to get better.
- 1:00:30Speaker 19: What do you find yourself doing better now midway through
- 1:00:33Speaker 19: this season as a head coach that you were doing
- 1:00:35Speaker 19: weeks one.
- 1:00:36Speaker 17: Two and three two, I would say, just you know,
- 1:00:38Speaker 17: for myself personally, it's just the communication and going through
- 1:00:43Speaker 17: you know, situational football during the games. Those are things
- 1:00:46Speaker 17: that you have to continue to experience. Look and once again,
- 1:00:49Speaker 17: you know, everyone may not like the decision, but at
- 1:00:51Speaker 17: the same time, someone has to make it and that's me.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: Coach.
- 1:00:55Speaker 14: You mentioned the importance of you know, making progress off
- 1:00:57Speaker 14: the season for your young players piercing workie class.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: Obviously different cases for each but how do you feel
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: that they progress so.
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: Far this season?
- 1:01:03Speaker 17: Well, if these guys are doing what they need to
- 1:01:04Speaker 17: do and they all as individuals will progress at you know,
- 1:01:08Speaker 17: different speeds. I would also say, you know, I think
- 1:01:11Speaker 17: you know our quarterback. I know everyone's excited about our quarterback,
- 1:01:14Speaker 17: and he is. He's a good player for us, and
- 1:01:16Speaker 17: he will continue to develop going forward, but he understands
- 1:01:19Speaker 17: there are a lot of things to work on for
- 1:01:21Speaker 17: himself personally as well. And you know, you see, you
- 1:01:23Speaker 17: know some of the other guys and there at different
- 1:01:25Speaker 17: points in there in their rookie year. The rookie, your
- 1:01:27Speaker 17: rookie year. No matter what position you play, it's it's
- 1:01:30Speaker 17: always tough. And again those guys, it's about getting better
- 1:01:33Speaker 17: every single day, and you know you're gonna deal with
- 1:01:36Speaker 17: different situations every single day, whether you're talking on the
- 1:01:39Speaker 17: field or off the field.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Those guys that great history. She's my lines are way
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: off this week. Yeah, I just I don't. I don't
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: believe in do you get your lines from Jimmy, the
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: barbers and the street.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: It's week to to spread and I just I just
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: go to DraftKings Verys had the same lines as Paul.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: So we go to draft. No, that's you're listening draft.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: They are presenting sponsor for the post game show.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: So I think that we should. Yeah, I mean show
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: a little of every week. You mocking my kids. I
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: can't go to you go to draft? Why don't you
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: go to draft? I can't. I'm not allowed to ford.
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: I signed a contract that you're not.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: It's not allowed to use it.
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: Don't You can't even look at.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: It, Paul, I look at it every week. You can
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: see every Thursday morning. Paul's grandfather has different rules, like
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: this is not serious.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Right, that's another great moment.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: All right back here, it's Paul Duce, Alex, myself, Matt Nabooth,
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Evan will be here soon. We gotta do picks, so
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: we gotta hurry. But let's take some emails at podcasts
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: at Patriots dot com. Alexandre Notandra, Alexandre in Brazil, right, San,
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: He loves the show has been listening since twenty sixteen.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: Yesterday's talk about winnable and losable games was spot on.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Over the season, the close games tend to flip one
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: way or another, randomly, and this is another proof of
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Belichick's hypocrisy. Lombardi aka the Mouth of Saarn, went on
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: babbling like that last year's record was not a good
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: indicator of the team's quality, but he himself loves to
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: quote the you are what you are what your record says,
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: you are a lyne. How many of the four wins
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: came from details? Last minute heroics against the Bills, improbable
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Christmas kicking Denver, and the almost ridiculous Jets hail mary?
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: How much? How many of the four wins came from details?
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: The Jets hail Mary? I don't know what that is?
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: Almost miraculous Jets hail Mary? He said, I don't know.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: They said the team the team was bad.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: I do now that he says that the Jets had
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: a hail Mary at the end of that game that
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: fell short.
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: With the Marcus Marcus.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: It was called but short of the goal line.
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, now that I'm thinking of it, Yeah, I
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: think the Patriots won like fifteen to ten.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, the team was bad last year, it
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: is bad this year, and hopefully we'll be better next year.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Wolf has to prove he's a good GM and nail
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: the offseason, both in the draft, trades and free agency.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Let's surround the kid with weapons and improve this offense.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: So his bigger point was the team was what it
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: records was last year.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: Ye yeah, and it is now and he's proving. You know,
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: you can talk yourself into anything. You can say, we're
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: not as bad as four and thirteen, But if you
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: go four and thirteen, like you could say, you know,
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: we went eight nine and we probably should have been
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: better than that. We you know, like right now, there's
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: a handful of teams that probably feel like they should
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: be in the playoff race that aren't Cincinnati.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: You brought up is one.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: You know, they have more talent than their record indicates.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: But if you're four and thirteen, you're probably a four
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: and thirteen team. You know what are you maybe a
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: six and eleven team instead? Yeah, you know, if you
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: get some breaks here and there, you're a bad team.
- 1:05:05Speaker 8: I think I'm also learning about tiers of bad teams
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: where it's like there's like the the zero to three
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: win teams or zero but you know one two three wins,
- 1:05:13Speaker 8: and it's nine teams with two wins.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: It's bad the most since like two thousand and six.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: At his time of year before.
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: I mean, I just think if you're well coached team
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: and you and you don't get absolutely injuries, he should
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: be in the five to six win territory.
- 1:05:28Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:05:28Speaker 8: It's like you really, it really kind of has to
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: be bad to be stuck in that like two, three four.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: Even the injury thing. You know, I talked about this all,
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: like everybody has a lot of injuries. The bad years
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: for teams are when the injuries are concentrated in like
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: a specific area. Yeah, you know, and all of a sudden,
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: you know, like Tampa Bay, like they just, all of
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: a sudden go into a game with no wide receivers
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: because Godwin and Evans both go down in the same game.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: You know, like that's a crippling you know, it's only
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: two injuries. You say, what do you mean everybody.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Else is healthy? That that's hard.
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: Like Baker Mayfield has to go into a game, a
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: big division game at home against Atlanta and have no
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: real idea where he's going to get production from.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: You know, it's a hard thing to overcome.
- 1:06:13Speaker 8: Yeah, remember similar to the twenty thirteen Patriots lost Will
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: Fork and forget who is the branch? Maybe I forget
- 1:06:19Speaker 8: who the like tackle they kind of paired him with
- 1:06:21Speaker 8: at the time, but they lost both those guys and
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: then they had like white Christianes, like that other Chris
- 1:06:26Speaker 8: Jones that was the Patriots guy who was like an
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: undrafted like just played a year or two, but he
- 1:06:31Speaker 8: him and Joelano, remember jober Joe Allano, him and Chris Jones.
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: You probably lost Chris Jones and the other Chris Jones
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: with the real Chris Jones. But you know, all of
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: a sudden, if.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: The other Chris Jones played in like two thousand and six, I'd.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: Be like, oh, yeah, remember him well, Like it was
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: brief but that but that would.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Guy.
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: Yeah, same kind of point though, same thing, like your
- 1:06:51Speaker 8: two interior tackles that everything's going to kind of go through,
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: lost them, and then you're stuck with like two undrafted
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: rookies now and I.
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Meantriots already was short on the offensive line, and then
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: you have like two and three offensive linemen unavailable every game.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: You know, David Andrews gets hurt, Daria Lowe gets hurt,
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: Lady Robinson gets hurt, and City So is not ready
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: to go. At the start of the season, concentrated all
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: in the same area that affects things Matt and.
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: No, no, I didn't. I just I just needed to
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: make sure that there is Chris Jones.
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: Remember that guy?
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Sure? Let me see never not you don't remember Chris Jones?
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Do you I remember the name? I don't.
- 1:07:38Speaker 8: Bill Belichick is the frame of the game giving Chris
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: Jones a hug.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: Oh that's perfect.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: I'm gonna be good because I get made fun of
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: for taking shots at Bill after the fact.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: Matt and Devin uk I personally think that the pick
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: segment is the best part of the week. Don't listen
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: to the grumpy people who don't like it. It's hilarious
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: and like you say, it's the part of the week
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: where you get to talk about the rest of the
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: league and have a little fun. Firstly, Fred, don't ever change.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: You are hilarious in the picks. And even though we
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: know what you're going to say, Denver, oh is at home,
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: the home team gets three points. It gets me every
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: timely second, if you really want to know what the
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Sharps know, then just follow Alex. She always picks the
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: favorites and lays the points, so just look at her record.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: And finally, can you please explain to me how you
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: can get the result of the game wrong but win
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: the spread. Surely, if you get the team wrong to win,
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: then you've got the points wrong. I'm not a betting man.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: I really don't understand this.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: Maybe we need to do a better job of Do
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: you want to explain that part?
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: I mean, the spread is not related to the result.
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: Right, so you could get the you get the results
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: of the game wrong.
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: Should Murrell be taking notes on this?
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Maybe? Yeah?
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: This is how maybe you should say.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Let's say that let's say that I don't know that
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: you've spread, but let's say the Patriots are seven point
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: underdogs this week, right right, right? They lose the game
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: on the scoreboard, but they in the the score ends
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: up only being a five point difference. So it means
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: if you pick the Patriots you want.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: If you pick the Patriots to win and cover, you
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: only win the spread.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Kansas City Tampa Bay, Kansas City was minus nine, but
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: the score was twenty four to twenty right, yeah, you.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Know, you see you big Tampa.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: Yeah, but that wasn't the score of that game either,
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: and that's part of your problem. It was thirty to
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: twenty four.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: What's the final.
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: I don't know how he messed it up, and I
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: don't know how you were Remember that.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: My boy is still no but he's asking a question,
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: how can you get the points spread right in the
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: result of the game wrong? So in Fred's example, if
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: the Patriots are underdogs by six this week against Chicago,
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: and you pick the Patriots to win and cover and
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: they lose by three, Chicago wins the game. So if
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: you pick the Patriots to win the game, you lose
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: the result of the game.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: You lose that pick.
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: However, you win the spread because you were also getting
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: six points and they only lost by three. So you
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: lose the game the result of the game, but you
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: win the pick against the spread.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Good day, sir, Right.
- 1:10:16Speaker 8: Loose You got that?
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Matt?
- 1:10:18Speaker 8: Matt looks like that's why you need a Matt lipstick
- 1:10:20Speaker 8: camp because he was just staring at you like, Oh,
- 1:10:22Speaker 8: I should have probably known this about five years ago.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: Classy I Chris wants to know about a question for Paul.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: What is your opinion on pepsi max versus pepsi zero sugar.
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: I haven't really.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: Tried a lot of the difference pepsi's DP diet. Pepsi
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: blame my wife.
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: What's your B though? If you had a B like
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: a beast, you know, a squad is diet PEPSI. What's
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: your B squad? If you had to go nothing, you
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: had nothing, no, yeah, I would go like Gatorade, Gatorade
- 1:10:51Speaker 8: zero or something like the fleet right.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: Appreciate you.
- 1:10:58Speaker 8: They make your own gatorade. Back in the day at
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: BU Baseball in the eighties.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Was that yeah so good? Yeah?
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: Well I didn't do it a lot, but yeah, they had.
- 1:11:07Speaker 8: That stuff like it, like it a lot, give it
- 1:11:10Speaker 8: a look, extra kick.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: Now it's like the liquid IV's that the kids do.
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: Oh, there's so much sugar in those two.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I'm sure that's part of the reason why
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: he uses it. Let's see Bud Wrights or writes in
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: I have a friend named Buggler. Actually he calls himself
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: shutters in Manchester, interested to get Fred and Paul's answer
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: from the inside and from Evan induced on the outside. Alex,
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: you're out which non player? So a coach, GM, staff,
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: et cetera. Do you think doesn't get enough acknowledgment for
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: their contribution during the Dynasty years. Tune into Claire's podcast
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: for No Socks answer to this tomorrow. Yeah, he was
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: on this morning, no socks. It was on Claire's.
- 1:11:57Speaker 8: Grows up and he grows out?
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: So which non.
- 1:12:02Speaker 7: Up?
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: Non? So a coach? We have to pick a coach? Well,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: I have somebody in mind that.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: Doesn't get enough credit for the Dynasty years?
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: Okay, who do you have in mind? Ernie Adams? Do
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: you think he doesn't get enough credits?
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: Wow, in the moment, he probably didn't.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: He probably he gets a lot of credit now and
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: he should. But you know, I agree that he should,
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: but I think he does. Yeah, Okay, that's fair. Who's
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: the person who doesn't get any credit that should m
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I'm Nancy Meyer. Yeah.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: I have a hard time coming up with someone that
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: doesn't really get a lot of credit.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Tom Brady right, Like, yeah, I don't know. Is
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: there a coach that you would say like he was.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: A really really good coaching People didn't realize what a
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: good coach he was. I think people know like Charlie wasn't,
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: Romeo Cornell were really good, and Josh came in he
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: was really good after that, and then Bill O'Brien did
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: a really good job.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: Like those guys, what about something I didn't know until
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: being on the show with you guys, the the guy
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: who really pushed for Tom Brady who has since passed away.
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: That's lore that I really never knew until. Like I said,
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: I think Paul told me.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: That Dick Raybne was largely credited with like Bill told him,
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: discovered we want we wanted after quarterback late in the draft,
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: and he tasked Dick raybih with picking the one that
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: he wanted, and he's the one that identified Tom Brady.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: I mean, according to that's the lower the lore word
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: and that lawer.
- 1:13:41Speaker 8: He died in what August two thousand and one, I
- 1:13:43Speaker 8: mean amongst like one of the craziest periods in Patriot history.
- 1:13:47Speaker 8: And I mean he kind of gets forgotten a little
- 1:13:48Speaker 8: bit because of nine to eleven and Bledsoe and Brady
- 1:13:51Speaker 8: and everything that happened, like within the two weeks of
- 1:13:54Speaker 8: it happening.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: But yeah, I think Gil Santos, why, oh, I mean,
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: it's a great question. I just don't know if I
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: have a good one. That's a great voice.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Yeah, No, it's uh, what's the other part of the question.
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: I think everybody gets good And I thought there was
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: something from Mike.
- 1:14:17Speaker 8: Ivan though he was asking for our outside perspective. That's
- 1:14:20Speaker 8: what I think, you man, that you guys were here.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, to be honest, not to some on snarky,
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: I think everybody's gotten a significant amount of credit.
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: Them out of their documentaries and all that stuff we've made.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: I think we think of it under the radar contributor.
- 1:14:35Speaker 8: I wonder who no socks Ha got. Maybe we'll turn
- 1:14:37Speaker 8: into a clear perspective tomorrow to find out.
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: I'm going to guess that Fred and Paul will scoff
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: at whatever. Everyone got credit, but it was just Brady anyway,
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: so stop asking, Well, he'll be the last guy to
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: be credits.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: It's kind of like you in that regard Austin and
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: North Carolina. I normally watch or listen on my phone.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Yesterday I decided to put the show up on my
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: TV and pumped up the video quality. All I can
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: say is wow, Okay, he says take that. How you will.
- 1:15:12Speaker 8: Us mostly on the show yesterday, So thank you.
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: At this point the season, who do you think has
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: done their job better? Wolf versus Mayo? And if this
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: season continues on this track, could we start to see
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: friction between the two. Geez A little concerned about that
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: last part. Probably Mayo.
- 1:15:33Speaker 8: I would probably lean Mayo, but I don't.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: I think Mayo has kept it together.
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you know, you know, some of the
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: comments that you came today with, you know, guys sort
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: of young guys being.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: Hungry still and being on board. That's the coach's job.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: Yeah, two and seven. We got to keep continue to
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: work toward what we're our goals are, right. Yeah, and
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: obviously they're short on talent. So I think Mayo has
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: probably done a better job.
- 1:15:57Speaker 8: Yeah, you won me over on that.
- 1:15:59Speaker 14: I like that.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Let's see Cole writes in first time he's ever written
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: or called.
- 1:16:06Speaker 14: Uh.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Been listening since six, been reading since the nineties. I
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: joined the Navy in O three. Thank you for your service,
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: and it was difficult to download anything on a ship
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: with limited bandwidth. I used to have the newspaper delivered
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: to the ship. It was amazing. We used to have
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Carol go out on a robot. She would actually hand
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: the she would put one of those like yellowishers I
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: have on and then she'd come back. But anyway, you said,
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: the paper would show up three to six weeks after
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: it was pret That sounds about right, and that wasn't
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: just for people on ships. I watched Super Bowl thirty
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: eight in the middle of the Mediterranean. I got written
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: up for not being at quarters when Adam kicked the
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: game winner. I retired from the Navy last year. Congratulations,
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: and I can honestly say that you two and the
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: rest of the crew helped me greatly through a career
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: that took me out of the country more often than not.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: The evolution of the PU crew has been amazing to watch. Paul, Fred, Andy, Brian,
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Eric kind Of Megan, Mike, Alex Tamara, and of course Evan.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: what you do. Your level headed analysis was welcome light
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: in the darkness that is most Boston media. I will
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: listen as long as you guys are on the air,
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: I will make it a point to make more contact
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: from now on. Well, thank you, called, I appreciate it.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: That's great.
- 1:17:26Speaker 8: Talk to Joe Cardona about getting that.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: I gotta ask that Carol why she never told us
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: about him?
- 1:17:32Speaker 8: You know that either, Dingy.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys.
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: You guys don't even know how hard it was these two.
- 1:17:40Speaker 8: Well, all I heard was about how hard Andy made
- 1:17:42Speaker 8: it on Carol and I'm talking.
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: To you as doing that because you were in the
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: paper itself.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: Because we you know, it was tough to get. Uh,
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: it was hard a paper, you know, delivered to people
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: before the next game when they lived outside of New England.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: We tried our best, but you know, you're a subject
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: to the us PS. And someone would call in and
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: say I didn't get Carol. Well, what would happen? You know,
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: because the customer service number was her phone on our desk,
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: so she'd have to like answer to all these people
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: who were like, where's my paper was? And then like
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: so she wasn't at her desk all the time, so
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: the little red light would be constantly blinking and Andy
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: would want you got voice messages? Come on, Cali, you
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: gotta answer those voice messages. Oh and he was relentless, Carol,
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: no more talking talking.
- 1:18:33Speaker 8: I was a subscriber in California, so I've experienced firsthand
- 1:18:37Speaker 8: some of those delays.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, wait a minute, wasn't that two weeks ago? This game? Yeah?
- 1:18:41Speaker 8: I just like the pictures.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Nathan and Tampa, what's going on with Pop? Drake
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: likes to throw to him. He's our best receiver at
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: beating man coverage. And he could be a yak machine
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: when hit and stride. In training camp, I believe it
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: was mentioned the coaching staff values of receiver's ability to
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: run block, and Douglas is on the smaller side. But
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: we can't run the ball anyway, so who cares if
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: Douglas can't block. Pop needs to stay on the field
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: all three downs.
- 1:19:08Speaker 8: I just don't know if he's got their ability, you know.
- 1:19:10Speaker 8: I like being able to use him in specific spots,
- 1:19:12Speaker 8: but I kind I generally get the point though, of
- 1:19:14Speaker 8: like I felt like first couple of games that they
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: had a chemistry going and hasn't been quite as much
- 1:19:19Speaker 8: the last few. But I just think you need other
- 1:19:21Speaker 8: guys to step up so you don't miss it as
- 1:19:22Speaker 8: much when he has a game because all these guys
- 1:19:24Speaker 8: not confused.
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: Is like Tomorio Douglas, his production drops out because he
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: doesn't play enough. Now He's out there all the time,
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: and certainly in passing situations when they have three receivers
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: in the field, he's always one of them, like always
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: one of.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: Them, let's see, Joe writes in I agree with Chris,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: though I would like to take it a step further.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: I love Patriots Football Weekly newsletter in progress more than
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: the team at this point. Honestly, even when Brady was
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: still here. Paul, I know you're right a lot Remandre's running, sustainability,
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: the fact that they brought in no one at left tackle,
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, and on and on.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: I just request next season and moving forward. You wait
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: until about week four to give us your revelations so
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: I can be artificially excited about the team just a
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: little bit. I get it.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: Sometimes it's a tonality issue.
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: I get it.
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: Oh boy, but you got some excitement this summer when
- 1:20:15Speaker 8: we start to see May. You know pop a little bit?
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: I mean, and that is I've maintained that. You know,
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: I said this a couple of times. I get some
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: funny looks when I go on my show.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Was I Drake May?
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: I wanted Drake May over Jade and Daniels, and I
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: stand by that. I think he will be better than
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: Jayde and Daniels when all is said and done. And
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: I'm nothing I've seen since has said oh I really
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: missed that one.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: So Martin from London, from upstairs has a question. You know,
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: the gray track suits that the players wear on the road. Yeah,
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: he wants to know where you can get one. I
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: don't know the answer to that.
- 1:20:51Speaker 14: Now.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: I don't think you can.
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: There's certain linds have closed that Nike makes and it's
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: just there'll be a label on it that says like
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: bench weear, and it's like it's specifically for a team personnel.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: They were smart after the season they opened that up.
- 1:21:05Speaker 6: Yeah, they would play afterwards because you got to create
- 1:21:08Speaker 6: the lore.
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: I tell you, Martin, they're not overly flattering.
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: Well, well that's the thing you no. So here's what
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: this is. This is so true. So all the players
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: and staff, not the steerage. Yeah, all the players, coaches, trainer,
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: everybody on the football staff. Evan gets one road. Not
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: everybody can talking at one. Let me finish the story.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: We went out and got our own tops, but we
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: don't get issued with the full foot right, But everybody
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: on the staff gets that. And there's some people, uh
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: that should not be wearing that track suit. They look
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: like literally they're wearing pajamas. You know, to name some
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: to not name names, but it's not a flattering look.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: As Paul said, for everybody.
- 1:22:03Speaker 8: I think Evan would Evan when he gets In would
- 1:22:05Speaker 8: echo your.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: It's not really even a flattering look for the players
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: who are in peak physical condition. They just don't look great.
- 1:22:12Speaker 8: Yeah, I would say, though to Martin, go on eBay.
- 1:22:15Speaker 8: I don't know that they'll be there, but keep an
- 1:22:16Speaker 8: eye on eBay and Google and.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Twenty twenty four gray out for ninety eight dollars on
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: California Outfits dot.
- 1:22:22Speaker 8: Com California Outlets.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: I have to look at it is it? Is it authentic? Okay?
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: Because I know it's Nike is the company.
- 1:22:32Speaker 8: That kind of stuff does pop up on eBay. Though
- 1:22:34Speaker 8: from time to time, if you're if you're diligent about it,
- 1:22:37Speaker 8: search bench where Patriots bench, where you might.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: You might come across some It sounds like Mike might
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: have a little side, little side beside this.
- 1:22:44Speaker 8: No, I always, but I love like I would always.
- 1:22:46Speaker 8: I'm a good ebayor for Patriots old crap. As you've
- 1:22:48Speaker 8: probably seen some of the stuff I wear, and yeah,
- 1:22:50Speaker 8: there's always gems that pop up on there, but I'll
- 1:22:52Speaker 8: do Patriots team wear. That's always a good one.
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: Because I know the label and this is team issue.
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: Yeah, that might be the label.
- 1:23:00Speaker 8: Then maybe they've got some.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Special Diana from uh New Hampshire writes in about Alex
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: van Pelt, he said, could it she says? Could it
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: be that Alex's more intricate schemes are too difficult for
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: the current players to perform? Could be the players holding
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: him back? I don't think so. I don't think that
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: the schemes are too difficult. If anything, they're not difficult enough. Yea.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: The again, this is just off of reputation and whatnot.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: I'm not the architect of the offense, but it's considered
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: to be a pretty player friendly system, right quarterback friendly.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: I think they've used specifically that phrase, so I don't
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: think that that's accurate.
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: Maybe she's speaking to how like earlier in the show
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: we were talking about I think it was talking about
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: how creative he is and he's been kind of like
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: held back where we all see it as more conservative
- 1:23:56Speaker 6: and yeah, yeah, guess who's.
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: Back during the songs?
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: Evan, before we get into the practice, what's your opinion
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: of the Patriots travel warm up suit?
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: Oh uh, I'm okay, yeah, but obviously the player's creativity,
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: is that what you guys are just talking about, Maybe
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: that you know they're they're outfits though, you know, Yeah,
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: they don't get to really show off their game day
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: they do. Yeah, so I think that they're you know,
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: that's uh. I've heard some grousing about that.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: Oh really from the media. Uh from our people, our people.
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know, or like just like an example,
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: you know, maybe they went to a big college and
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: like they might wear on a Michigan Ohio state weekend.
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: You know, we see a Michigan guy in a in
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: Michigan's gear, and that would be good because it was optional.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: I thought they didn't have to wear the tracksuit. They could.
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: I have not seen a single player not wear it,
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: so I don't know.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they're a lot more comfortable than wearing
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: nice clothes for sure. But what do you like the
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: track suit? Oh?
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: I only have the hoodie. Yeah, I don't have the pants, right,
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: but I do like the hoodie. Yeah, okay, and it's nice.
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: You know, looking at some of the non players that
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: wear the tracksuit, would you say that it's.
- 1:25:28Speaker 8: Flattering non players non players?
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: I don't think I've ever looked at it like that.
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: I don't know how to respond to that.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, okay, sure, all right, you do you think
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: it's flattering? Why not I think they look like they're
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: wearing pajamas. Okay, it's not a great look.
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: I can hear that anyway, So let's get back to
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: practice anyway. Yeah, yeah, So just a few updates, nothing major.
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: Jamichael Hasty back at Patriots practice today. He missed yesterday
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: with the personal matter, so still no Kyle Dugger he
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: remains out with an ankle injury and was not at
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: practice again today. Did see him in the locker room,
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: but was not at practice, so he remains out. Cushion
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: Ellis is still there even though he was listed as
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: a d NP. He's still out at practice in a uniform.
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: So Dugger the only absence, and Caleb Jones wasn't there
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: from the practice squad, but Douger the only absence from
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: the the active roster.
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: And Caleb Jones was one of the practice players of
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: the week last week two weeks A very tall No,
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: I know, I know he's you know, Jonathan Ogden, but
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: he was like, I'm not I didn't misremember that, right.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: He was one of the recent practice players of the
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: week after the you know, heading into the Jets game. Yes, right,
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: So that's weird that he wouldn't be I I hope
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: he didn't.
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: Get hurt, all right, So any you know interesting things
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: that you saw today, people lining up in different places.
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: Or well, well, the line stayed the same as what
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: we saw yesterday with an when who at left guard.
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: And he basically talked today in a scrum in the
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: locker room and more or less confirmed that that's where
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: he was yesterday for practice. And uh he answered the
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: questuestions about as judicially as he possibly could, but you
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: do you know, mentally he said that he doesn't feel
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: like he's playing very well or up to his standard.
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: And I think you can read between the lines at
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: all the moving around inside outside now to the left side,
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: it might be affecting him somewhat. Even if it's not
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: physically affecting him, maybe mentally it's just been a lot.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: It's been a whirlwind of a season for him, so
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: he doesn't feel like he's played very well.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: And that's part of kind of you know, I don't
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: say went out of his way, but was certain to
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: tell everybody today that Mike and When is our best player.
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: Yeah on the line, I totally agree, Fred, And that
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: to me adds context of those comments exactly.
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, we're trying to pump him up. Come on, Mike, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: we get it, we get it.
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: You haven't put you in a great spot, but yeah,
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: the best we got, right, that's why you were asking
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: you to do so much.
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I think that's a fair read on it.
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: You know, today again we saw Laden Robinson and at
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: right guard and Michael Jordan out of the starting five.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: It seems like as of right now, and I understand
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: the Jordan's piece of it. I I felt like his
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: tape has dropped off pretty significantly over the last couple
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: of weeks. And I can understand wanting to go with
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: the younger players that you see as a part of
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: your future potentially in there. But you feel for on Winno,
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: you do? I mean, I look, he's getting paid, so
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: I don't feel too bad for him, but I feel
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: for him in terms of his performance that it's obviously
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: impacting him by moving around the line.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: So Michael Jordan out of the starting five? Who had
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: ever thought that?
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: So the team this is now their third out of
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: four weeks on the road. Yes, you feel it affecting
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: the media? Are they wearing down a little bit? You know,
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: getting a little tired, grumpy.
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: Perhaps it's it's a tough stretch and then it's actually
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: three or four on the road because I say, yeah,
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: oh yeah, sorry, host, don't listen. Uh yeah, it's a
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: it's a tough full stretch here. You know, you gotta
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: you gotta be on your p's and q's. You know
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: you gotta get your sleep. Yeah out too much on
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: Saturday night.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: Even on pack do they just keep the suitcase like I.
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: Can't speak to that. I unpacked. I don't know about you,
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: but I unpacked myself. But I know I think that
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: yesterday we had Drake May you know, at the podium
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: and there's maybe a tiny little bit of juice about
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: this being against Caleb Williams, and I do feel like
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: there's a little bit of that going on for Drake
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: at least, that you were picked ahead of me, and
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: you know, everybody thought you were the consensus number one guy,
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: and now here's an opportunity to go ahead to head.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: Getting back to the media, it is flu season.
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: I just keep on trying it.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: Have to know how many of the media have gotten
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: their flu shot, because I hear a lot of coughing
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: and sneezing going on in that press box.
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: It's it's alarming, it is alarming. I'm with you on
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: this one hundred percent. And that's why I liked last
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: week in Nashville. We were kind of sitting in our
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: own little area, and I prefer that for this exact reason.
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: You know, keep your germs to yourself. Yeah, I hear you.
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: That's a good point. So I maybe we can all
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: go up to the CVS and Patriot Place after media.
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Maybe Stacy James should offer flu shots in the media
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: work have a nurse on hand.
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: That's or just that's a great idea, or like the.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: Cookie. Yeah, a healthy a healthy media is a happy Remember.
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: Remember we used to have to get the the COVID
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: test and the modular out.
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: Maybe I brought that back.
- 1:30:56Speaker 8: Yeah every day remember that.
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: There you go.
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: That was awful.
- 1:31:00Speaker 8: Stopped by this trailer real quick and let some ladies
- 1:31:02Speaker 8: swap my nose.
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, then we all came back positive. It was
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: all it was all false false positive. Yeah, the whole,
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: the whole, like you know, yeah whatever it's called, sample
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: got messed up or whatever on you.
- 1:31:16Speaker 8: When that happened, and I got a text from Cecily,
- 1:31:18Speaker 8: who's like, you need to leave the building right now,
- 1:31:20Speaker 8: like what.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: I was driving home and I got a got a
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: call from Stacy and almost like staring off the Yeah.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: So it was the indie game. We came back from
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Indianapolis and we all had tested positive and I was like,
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: there's no freaking way, yeah, and so I said, we
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: have to do retests, and they brought in a crew
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: from New Jersey and they did two different tests than
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: they did there and we were all fine. To the bottom.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: I refuse to believe that we all got COVID at
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: the same time.
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: Yeah, we all had a group text going with because
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: I was external media at that point, and we all
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: had a group text going and I think it was
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: I believe it was Andrew who was like leading the
- 1:31:59Speaker 5: charge because we were we all wouldn't have been able
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: to come to work, you know, and like that's our livelihood.
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: So yeah, and so we were all like we're all fine.
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: Like I don't understand.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: So I remember that goodness for that all right. Yeah, uh,
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: it is that time of the week, so catch us up, Okay,
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: I say.
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: Preview at the very beginning of the show was a
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: pretty strong week for everyone for Evan, so it was Mike,
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: Evan and Paul twelve and three, Wow, Fred eleven and four,
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: Alex ten and five. So everybody did really well with
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: the regular picks this week with the spread otherwise known
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: as where you Separate the Men from the Boys, Mike
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: and Paul eleven and four, Wow, Fred ten and five,
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: Evan eight and seven, and Alex six and nine.
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: I don't remember, I understand how I do so good
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: had to straight up and then the spread, I'm so bad,
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: So here are the it's tougher.
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: The overall is Paul is eighty nine and forty nine,
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: Evans eighty eight and fifty, Alex eighty seven and fifty one,
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: Fred eighty six and fifty two and poop Emoji Mike
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: eighty threety.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: Three geez okay with the spread You're awful.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: Fred gets the crown seventy seven, fifty eight and three,
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: followed by Mike seventy five, sixty and three, Paul's strong
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: eleven and four showing I lose the poop emoji this week,
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: and I'm seventy two, sixty three and three, Evans sixty nine,
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: sixty six and three, and poop Emoji Alex sixty eight
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: sixty seven and three.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: Careful though she edits.
- 1:33:52Speaker 12: The name right.
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: I don't do the poop emoji graphic.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: No, that's out. You have close write out of which
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: who do I send those two?
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: I usually send those out on Thursday.
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: I guess send them to Nancy and Jules she I'll
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: be working on it. Okay, I'll send it. Okay, I'll
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: send them to both of them. Mike, you're tasked with that.
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: Make sure, because you know I'll forget in the half hour.
- 1:34:17Speaker 8: No, Nancy is my mom's name. I won't forget that,
- 1:34:19Speaker 8: all right.
- 1:34:20Speaker 6: My mom's birthday today, Happy.
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: Birthday, birthday?
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: Thank you Alice his mom? All right, all right now tonight,
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: I gotta hurry tonight. We do have to hurry. Feeling
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: a little dangerous, you have to hurry. We really don't.
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: That gyro is sitting well, it's a let me. I
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: might have to get out anyway. Eight fifteen tonight on
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: Prime Video, it's the four and five Bengals at the
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: six and three Ravens. Big Game, Big Game.
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: Fun Game Tonight.
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: Ravens by six looks like no T Higgins again.
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: You can watch this one on the Amazon. You know
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: what I might if you have a button on your
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: mote that probably says Prime.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: Right. I know how to watch it.
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: I just don't until they invent the way to change
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: channels during commercials.
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: Why what are you going back and forth on tonight?
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: Could be anything Bruins Game, The Bachelor, no Thursdays?
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: What's on Thursday nights?
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: Matt Locke back a new one?
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: What are you? One hundred?
- 1:35:25Speaker 7: No?
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: With Cathy Bags like years seventy something. It's actually her
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: Last Chicago p D. The Last Chicago p D is
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: a good show. No One network. People still watching the network.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: I like Fire. Fire is fine.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: I don't know why you have to make fun of yourself.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: The Ravens by six, I like, go ahead.
- 1:35:52Speaker 8: Michael, So I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take I have to, alright,
- 1:35:57Speaker 8: I'm going to take Baltimore to win, but I'm going
- 1:35:58Speaker 8: to take those points for Cincinnati. I think they've been scoring.
- 1:36:01Speaker 8: I think it'll be a close divisional game on Thursday night.
- 1:36:03Speaker 8: So I'll take Baltimore, but I'll take the points for Cincy.
- 1:36:06Speaker 6: Please the same way, because Mike's been doing well.
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: Oh look at copy place. Lamar Jackson m VP of
- 1:36:14Speaker 5: the league again, I'm the last. I'm taking Lamar, but
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: it's the Hemmy Award every week. But I am going
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: to take the points as well. For the Bengals short
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: week division game, I just think they got this cover
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: the spread.
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Baltimore's defense played really well last week, which means
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: if you're following the trends, they'll probably struggle this week.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: So I will do the same thing Baltimore, but I'll
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: take the six.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody's doing the same thing, all right. Sunday at
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: nine thirty, we're back overseas, this time in Germany in Munich.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: The two and seven Giants are at the two and
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: seven Panthers.
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: Nothing builds the game globally like this matchup. The Giants
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: by six and a half.
- 1:36:57Speaker 8: Six and a half, geez, that's a lot.
- 1:37:00Speaker 7: It is.
- 1:37:02Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm not sure how to play this one. That
- 1:37:04Speaker 8: is a lot of points. So I'm gonna take the Giants,
- 1:37:06Speaker 8: but I'll give the points. I'll give the points for Carolina.
- 1:37:09Speaker 8: I think it'll be close between two bad teams.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: I guess I'm just gonna take the Giants, double Giants.
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: I'm gonna do the same thing as dude. I think
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: both these teams are too bad to separate themselves from
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: one another. So I'm gonna take the Giants, but I'll
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: take Carolina to cover.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: I thought about doing that, but I think there's a
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: chance the Giants defense could really uh bog down Bryce Young.
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: So I'm gonna I'm gonna lay the points. I'm gonna
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: go with Alex, take the Giants both ways.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: Yeah, this is where the Sharps are gonna get you.
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: So they're putting up a false flag here. Oh yeah,
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: they're they're making it so that you know, Oh, I
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: think the Giants are gonna win. But with those points,
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: I'll get you know, they'll get money coming in on
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: the Panthers. What they know is that the Panthers are
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: gonna win outright, So they're gonna take everybody's money this week.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: Panthers win this game outright.
- 1:38:00Speaker 8: Shoot, okay, shut already got it wrong.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: One o'clock at Fox. Oh yeah, one o'clock on CBS.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: I'm sorry. One o'clock on CBS. The seven and two
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: Bills are at the four and five Colts, Buffalo by four.
- 1:38:15Speaker 8: All right, Flocoh yeah, I mean I like Flocco, but
- 1:38:20Speaker 8: I can't take them at home against the buff I'm
- 1:38:23Speaker 8: gonna take Buffalo. I'll lay the points.
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: Please Buffalo, Buffalo, Buffalo rolls.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: I will take Buffalo, but I'll take the points. I
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: say that Buffalo wins by a field goal? Why is
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: that because Flacco?
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: What you believe in Flacco?
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: I think they have a chance to score some points.
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: Most games that he's played over the last two years,
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: for the team that he's played for, has been able
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: to score. Last week was an exception. I thought Minnesota
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: might do that to him, and they did. But I
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: think otherwise he throws the ball still at a pretty
- 1:38:59Speaker 4: high level. And I don't think Buffalo's defense is great.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: Yeah, the window is closing, but it keeps getting propped
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: up by these lousy teams. Josh Allen, I'm gonna go
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: getting propped up by Josh. I'm gonna go with bills
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: both ways. It's not shut yet. Fox at one o'clock,
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: the six and two Vikings are at the two and
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: seven Jaguar. I like that.
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: We're going in order on my sheet today, Minnesota by
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: four and a half.
- 1:39:23Speaker 8: That is that Mac Jones his music?
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: I think so is he playing?
- 1:39:27Speaker 8: I mean, I know that sounds like the latest scuttle
- 1:39:29Speaker 8: Bud Trevor is that practice today, But I'm likely to play.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: That's glad you guys shared that with me.
- 1:39:36Speaker 8: That's got Minnesota written all over it. I'll take Minnesota.
- 1:39:39Speaker 8: I will lay the points.
- 1:39:40Speaker 6: Minnesota, Minnesota, you bitcher, Evan.
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: I am also going to take the Vikings both ways.
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: I just think the Jaguars are are falling off here.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: I was actually looking at this as the Fred Kirsh
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: upset special, and I'm not lying at all, but I
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: didn't know that Lawrence wasn't going to play.
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: I will take Minnesota both ways. Yeah, me too, Minnesota
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: both ways. Skull CBS one o'clock, five and four, Broncos.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: Something must have happened, Broncos. The networks in a row.
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: They're not at home. I can't believe it. Fred. If
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: there's another team that gets that advantage all the time,
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: it's the Chiefs, and they are at home at eight.
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: No, Kansas City by seven and a half.
- 1:40:29Speaker 8: Seven and a half. I like that a little better
- 1:40:31Speaker 8: than what's on my sheet. Yeah, I'm going to continue
- 1:40:34Speaker 8: to take Kansas City. I got burned last week taking
- 1:40:38Speaker 8: the points, laying the points with them, but I'm gonna
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: lay them again. I'll lay the seven and a half
- 1:40:41Speaker 8: against Denver.
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: I'll split it. I'll take Kansas City to win and
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: I'll take Denver to cover.
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: This is what a sixteen game winning streak right now.
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: I want to say for the Chiefs over the Broncos.
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: I think it continues, and I think the Chiefs role
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: I have both ways.
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: I will take Kansas City to win, but I'll take
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: the points because Mike, what do I do Trent's baby
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: follow then they haven't really covered very often, folks. This
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: is your upsets.
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: Fortune favors the bold Broncos outright. They end the streak
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: for the Chiefs and Patriots fans can breathe a little
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: easier because they're twenty one games, petty little people. They
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: care about these things intact that foot ball, and I
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: did it for you.
- 1:41:27Speaker 8: It's like you guys have been working together twenty years.
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: Broncos outright, one o'clock on Fox six and three Falcons
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: are at the two and seven Saints.
- 1:41:37Speaker 8: Oh Jesus is, Oh gotta be bigger.
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: This has gotta be bigger than my three and a
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: half and lots of it is favored by three and
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: a half.
- 1:41:43Speaker 8: Just three and a half, Bob, jeez uh, that's nuts,
- 1:41:47Speaker 8: not a lot. I'll take Atlanta and I'll lay those
- 1:41:49Speaker 8: points for the spiraling Saints.
- 1:41:53Speaker 6: Good literation there, same thing.
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: The Saints do have the Pope on their side, and
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: you guys have seen that, butstairs about their divine intervention there.
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: And you usually do get a boost the week after
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: you fire the coach, right, that's usually the weekdayack to
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: it that you play well. So I'm gonna take Atlanta.
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: But I'm going to say that it's a field goal game.
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's also a really really bitter division rival
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: they see each other. I'm going to take Atlanta both ways. However,
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: I think that they completely if you look statistically, they
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: dominated that game against the Panthers last week and still
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: found a way to lose. Noah Lave, which you know
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: fred I shared with you. I don't know if you know,
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: but that's two concussions this year and four for his career.
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: I don't know about you, Mike. He's done, but I
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: don't feel comfortable watching him play football.
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: What if he were a concussion, I don't.
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: I don't feel about comfortable about it, and I think
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: that the doctors should not allow it to be his decision.
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: Take it out of his NFL should step in, and
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: then I'll take Atlanta both ways.
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, the big houses really do take into consideration the
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: division rival the big house houses.
- 1:43:01Speaker 8: I heard that one before, the parlance.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: The big house, who are you taking? But it's like MGM, exactly, Yeah,
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: I will go with the fount I'll go with you know,
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: the brick and mortar casinos, not not like the network
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: that Mike Lombardi works for. Visit one o'clock on Fox.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: The four and four forty nine Ers are at the
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: four and five Buccaneers.
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: The Niners by six.
- 1:43:32Speaker 8: Pooh, I like san Fran. Looks like CMC could be
- 1:43:37Speaker 8: back to I like san Fran in this game. But uh,
- 1:43:39Speaker 8: I'm tempted by these points with Baker.
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: That's what they want.
- 1:43:44Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what they want. I'm not gonna do it.
- 1:43:45Speaker 8: I'll delay the points.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: Yeah, seem.
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: I'm gonna take the forty nine ers, of course, but
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: I didn't take the Bucks to cover at home long
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: trip for the forty nine ers. Bucks have been frisky.
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: That's what I'm doing, Paul.
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Tampa to pull an upset outright. I'm
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: a little worried about the losing the way they did
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: on a Monday night, short week on the road. I
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: just kind of like the way that Tampa played that game.
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: And they have a really easy schedule after this game,
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: so they're scrappy.
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: They're scrappy.
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: They try with sacre bakes while throwing multiple interceptions every week.
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: We're lucky that Bakers in the league. There's no doubt
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: about that. Fortunate. This is a lot. This is what
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: they call a car wash game. So you've been through
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: the mud and your car looks crazy, you go through
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: the car wash, you come out really nice and clean.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: I guess he's gonna take the nine. That's how the
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: forty nine ers are looking now. Now starting they got
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: that car cleaned off, they're starting to look good on
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: the highway. Yeah, you're probably right, So they're gonna win.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: One o'clock on CBS, the six and two Steelers are
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: at these seven and two Commanders.
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: Washington by three.
- 1:44:57Speaker 8: Washington by three, who's pretty This is a pretty interesting
- 1:45:01Speaker 8: game here. Actually, what do you believe? What do you believe?
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: What do the sharps know?
- 1:45:08Speaker 8: I'm gonna go with Washington and I'll lay the points.
- 1:45:12Speaker 8: But I think this is a kind of a coin
- 1:45:14Speaker 8: flip for.
- 1:45:14Speaker 6: Me, Commanders, Commanders.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: I didn't take the Steelers in this game. The Steelers
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: just I always pick against them because I just don't
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: see it with them, but they always proved me wrong.
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: And I think the Commanders have played some close games
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: the last couple of weeks and they're sort of flirting
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: with it. Three Washington, I'm gonna take the Steelers.
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: I'm going to take the Steelers.
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: Two.
- 1:45:40Speaker 4: I think that defense will be tough for a young
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: quarterback to see for the first time.
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I will take the Commanders, but I will take
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: the points. Wait, whose your favorite?
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right, Washington by three.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so they don't lose by three.
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: Pittsburgh actually a toss up because.
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: They don't win by three, right, they think by less.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: Correct even though they get the three for being at home.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: So it's like a pick.
- 1:46:05Speaker 5: It's literally a toss up because it's literally.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: Yeah, somewhere in the world, Joey the noses like I
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: never heard a car wash game. I've been doing this
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: all right. We skip over the Patriots at one o'clock
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: and we go to four o five. The two and
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: six Titans are at the five. Three Chargers charges by
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: seven and a half. They had spread that big in years.
- 1:46:32Speaker 8: Yeah, that's that's a pretty good one. I usually I
- 1:46:36Speaker 8: see a team beat the Patriots and I think more
- 1:46:38Speaker 8: of them. I mean, I think Tennessee's okay, but I
- 1:46:41Speaker 8: think the Lack is starting to chug a little bit.
- 1:46:43Speaker 8: I'm gonna take the Lack and I'm not actually gonna
- 1:46:45Speaker 8: lay the points.
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: I don't know what that means.
- 1:46:49Speaker 6: I'm also gonna take the Chargers. Yeah, I'll also lay
- 1:46:53Speaker 6: the points.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I actually thought the Titans were pretty bad last week.
- 1:46:59Speaker 8: Just got I'll bat it.
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: Yeah. Thanks, it's a way of putting it. So I'm
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: gonna take the Chargers in this game. It's a lot
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: of points, but I'll take the Chargers both ways at home.
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: The the hook is there for you, Freddy, if you
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: want it. I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: Though.
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: I think the Chargers defense has played really, really well,
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: and I think that's not a good offense in Tennessee.
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: So I could see very very few points being scored
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: by the Titans.
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: If you're wondering why the Chargers are getting seven and
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: a half, the answer is horriball. That's the answer. Because
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: he's gonna he knows Mason Rudolph not jesse Minter.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: Why exactly does he know Mason?
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: So the Charges both their defensive coordinator, Jesse Minter know
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: the name. He's gonna be a head coach del Real.
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: All right, CBS at four twenty five, the three and
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: six Jets. They don't have a prime time game at
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: home this week. I don't know how that happened.
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: See they got flexed out next week.
- 1:47:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and the against the five and four Cardinals. So
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: this spread was what do they know?
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: What Jets by one?
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: What's ups? Why can't my Cardinals get any respect?
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: Do they know on the road?
- 1:48:11Speaker 8: Well, then in that case, I'm taking Evans Cardinals at
- 1:48:14Speaker 8: home and I'll take that point home dogs.
- 1:48:17Speaker 6: Kyler Murray, same run with Kyler.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I'm going Cardinals easily on this one. Drew
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: Petsing there off defensive coordinator, also know the name, going
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: to be a head coach in the league someday. Cardinals
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: ran for two hundred and thirteen yards last week, Cardinals
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: big in this game.
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: I'm going to take the Cardinals too. I think they
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: got a little something going. I think that could be
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: a playoff team in the NFC.
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: But I do wonder what they know. Why are they
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: favoring the Jets here? I'm not sure. It could be
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: just a money thing. How money is Like, how did
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: it start? That's what we should have. We should have
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: How did the line start? That's my job. Never ran alexy. Yeah,
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: so I have to do it all, so i would
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: like to know how this line shifted. But I'll go
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: I'll go with the Cardinals both ways.
- 1:49:00Speaker 8: Is it like a big call of duty release week
- 1:49:02Speaker 8: or something?
- 1:49:03Speaker 13: Wow?
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: Nice job, there you go.
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: That's not Tyler's played very well, you know him and
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: apology who for? So this one, I'll be interested to
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: see what the line is. Four twenty five CBS, the
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: six and two Eagles are at the three and five
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: Cowboys Philly by seven. Yeah, Prescott for now and maybe
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: the rest of the season. But is that a good thing? Yeah?
- 1:49:33Speaker 8: Maybe maybe not. I'm gonna take I'll take Philly on
- 1:49:35Speaker 8: the road. Shoot, I'm gonna have to lay those points too.
- 1:49:38Speaker 8: It's a lot, but I'm gonna.
- 1:49:40Speaker 6: Philly Philly until Dallas shows me something.
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: Cowboys are in a free fall, so I'm taking the
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: Eagles both ways in this game. I'm fascinated by what
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: happens in the offseason with the Cowboys, I think people
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: are gonna get fired.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: So I'm a little philly obviously. To win the game,
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: Sirianni just does things every single game to hurt his
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: team and does that Is that enough to cover the spread?
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna say no.
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: I say the Eagles will cover. But Cooper Rush has
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: played reasonably well for the Cowboys when he's filled in.
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: I mean, if siriann is just gonna go for two
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: every time and you know, kick like sixty yard field
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: goals instead of punting at the end of a game,
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: like the other team's always gonna have a chance.
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: So I don't know, I'm gonna take the Eagles'll you'll
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: cover my eyes. Yeah, when it comes to this game,
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: if you're walking around Vegas, you might be hearing a
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: lot of people say rah rah, and that means that's
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: the type of game it is. For the Cowboys. It's
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: a raw ra game. They rally around the team because
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: without Prescott in and they actually cover. Here, they don't win,
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: but they cover. They play hard without Prescott in there.
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: So it's it's what they.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Call lil ewing theory.
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, see what you did then. So now
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: we go Sunday Night A twenty on NBC Universo Telexitos
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: and Peacock. These seven and one Lions are at these
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: six and three Texans, Detroit by three and a half. Detwi.
- 1:51:09Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean Detroit's rolling. Hard to pick against them
- 1:51:11Speaker 8: right now. Houston's been up and down the suite year.
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: You know, I'm rough Linds a mess.
- 1:51:17Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm just interested to see with it. They're able
- 1:51:19Speaker 8: to kind of pull together here at the end. But
- 1:51:20Speaker 8: I'll take Detroit all other points.
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: Their first round guard that they picked a couple of
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: years ago hasn't panned down. Imagine picking a guard in
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: the first round having him not paying out.
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I can't imagine Troit.
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: Please Lions, Lions.
- 1:51:36Speaker 8: Restore the roar. The roar have been restored, I believe.
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:51:39Speaker 5: I think Houston's injuries are too much against a team
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: like the Lions. So I'm gonna take Detroit both ways
- 1:51:44Speaker 5: as well. But I think the Texans will be all right.
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: But right now, no, I will take Detroit to win,
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: but I'll take the hook. I mean, Houston scrappy, a
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: little scrappy, spunky. I hear a lot of people saying, see,
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: they should have had c. J. Strouds sit out last
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: year so then he'd have his good year this year.
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: But it's like that fall it could take like uh, now,
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with the Lions both ways. Here uh
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: Monday Night, ESPN, ESPN Deportes eight fifteen. The two and
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: six Dolphins are at the four and four Rams. The
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: la are by one is a fun game.
- 1:52:24Speaker 8: It's just a fun game.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: It's just a fun game. A lot of tight pants throwing.
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: On so many tighte pants overwhelmed.
- 1:52:32Speaker 8: Yeah, that that Matthew Stafford though, Man, he's he's still
- 1:52:34Speaker 8: really dangerous.
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: You got a tight top to not just the tight
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: pun language.
- 1:52:41Speaker 8: Yeah, I think this is a one point game I'm
- 1:52:43Speaker 8: gonna take. I'm gonna take the Rams, but I think
- 1:52:45Speaker 8: it's kind of a coin flip. I expect to win
- 1:52:47Speaker 8: his offense, they'll be they'll be clicking, but I'll take
- 1:52:49Speaker 8: the Rams.
- 1:52:50Speaker 6: I'm gonna roll the Rams to stringing a couple wins
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: the other another home.
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna go Rams both ways. I think Sean
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: McVay has done an outstanding job with the Rams this year,
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: keeping them afloat through those injuries. So now that they're
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: in shouting distance, now that they're getting some of their
- 1:53:05Speaker 5: guys back. I just think he's a really good.
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: Coach, really interesting young defense the Rams have built with
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: Verse and Fisk and those guys up front getting a
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: lot of heat on the passer.
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll take the I saw Verse end up in
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: the top quarter quadrant of uh you know pressure guys. Yes,
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: you did you see that? Evan probably key On White
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: ended up. He did that too. He was up close
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: close to it.
- 1:53:32Speaker 5: No, no, he was in the land, but in the bottom.
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: He's where you want to be, right, It's.
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: Like a cary, so everywhere you want to be, so
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: everywhere about the background. Did you already pick? I did?
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: I picked. I'm tempted to pick the Dolphins, but if
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: it's at home for the Rams, I'll stick with it.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: Just like a road game, no one, no one goes
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: to root for the Rams and Chargers in that stadium.
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: I know it's true, but I'll stick with the Rams
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: and Paul's guy. One o'clock on Fox. Now we go
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: back to the Patriots, the Stafford and Glad. We're getting
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: to end of the show because that gyro.
- 1:54:11Speaker 8: We're on Fox this gotta hurry.
- 1:54:14Speaker 14: Uh.
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: It's the two and seven Patriots at the four and
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: four Bears, Chicago by six.
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: We just picked this really really slow.
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: Right, well, we do have.
- 1:54:27Speaker 17: Six.
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: You don't want to do that. I got Chicago handles
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: over there.
- 1:54:33Speaker 8: He does actually lit up the new one.
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: You're going to go Toqu's office.
- 1:54:36Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I just thought I haven't seen enough out
- 1:54:40Speaker 8: of New England lately. I'm gonna go with Chicago. I
- 1:54:43Speaker 8: am tempted by the spread, though I think Newing can
- 1:54:45Speaker 8: keep it a little bit closer than that. But I
- 1:54:48Speaker 8: don't think, not today, I'm going to take twenty to
- 1:54:50Speaker 8: ten Bears.
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: Not the day.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: I think I might pick the Patriots to cover. Chicago wins.
- 1:54:59Speaker 6: Patriots cover what's the spread? One more time?
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: Six?
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: Okay, so now I'll do that quick math in my head,
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: like less than six. Let's do like a twenty.
- 1:55:08Speaker 8: Four nineteen twenty.
- 1:55:10Speaker 6: What has to be eighteen eighteen? No, that's six exactly
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: twenty one eighteen all right.
- 1:55:18Speaker 8: Eighteen, here we go.
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: Yeah. I'm a little worried about this game just from
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: a talent perspective, Like if you stacked these two rosters,
- 1:55:26Speaker 5: the Bears obviously have a lot more talent, especially on
- 1:55:29Speaker 5: the offensive side of the ball, but they haven't been
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: clicking yet with Caleb, so I don't think that they're
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: gonna completely blow doors here. So I'll go twenty one
- 1:55:38Speaker 5: seventeen Chicago. The Patriots cover nice game for Drake May
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: against Caleb and got some people asking some questions on Monday.
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: Yeah, my big concern here from the Chicago side is
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: where mentally they are. You know, they have DJ Moore
- 1:55:53Speaker 4: saying I want to say no, you know in terms
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: of that they.
- 1:55:58Speaker 5: Coach was weird.
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: So I think that there's some significant problems stemming from
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: that Hail Mary that they allowed. However, I'm gonna go
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: with Evans theory here. I'm just going to take what
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: I think is the more talented team in that Chicago.
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: I'm going to go twenty three to thirteen.
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: I'm going down with the ship. There's a shot twenty
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: twenty seven to twenty one Patriots, big win on the road.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: That late season surge that Lex was talking about at
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: the beginning of the show, It's gonna start this week.
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: Not saying they're gonna undefeat the rest of the way,
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: but you're gonna see vast improvement going forward, and they're
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: gonna pull off a few wins. Uh, they'll end up
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: with at least four wins this season, predicting that right
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: now twenty seven. All right, that's it for this edition
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: of Patriots. That's gotta go.
- 1:56:49Speaker 6: We can't get out of that sea fast enough.
