- 0:40Speaker 1: on the injury.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Report for LSU. We'll do that. with booger mcfarland uh
- 0:45Speaker 3: but it is.
- 0:45Speaker 1: A thursday that means we have to think so give
- 0:48Speaker 1: me the imaging think about it thursday you.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Know that segment talk about it tuesday on hockman crowder
- 0:55Speaker 2: and this is like that but bigger and better and
- 1:01Speaker 2: 48 hours later this is think about it thursday.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Again, this is Taylor's attempt to counter-program a local showdown
- 1:10Speaker 1: here in Miami.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Hockman, Crowder, Solero. What do you have for us today, Taylor?
- 1:15Speaker 4: So tonight is the debut of Highmark Stadium for the
- 1:18Speaker 4: Buffalo Bills.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yep, big game. It really is.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Big game.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:22Speaker 4: So this week for Think About It Thursday, I want
- 1:24Speaker 4: you guys to power rank these five things that you
- 1:28Speaker 4: would want in a stadium.
- 1:30Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So we're power ranking five things we would want in
- 1:33Speaker 1: a new stadium?
- 1:34Speaker 4: In a new stadium.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:36Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:37Speaker 5: The first thing. Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Comfortable seats.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Comfortable seats. I'm just writing down comfy seats. Is that okay?
- 1:43Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:44Speaker 4: The next option, elite food options.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Elite food options. Okay.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Fast Wi-Fi. Fast Wi-Fi.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Great tailgating setup slash bar options, like maybe if it's
- 1:59Speaker 4: in a downtown area. So tailgating setup.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Okay. Location.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Location.
- 2:03Speaker 4: And then the fifth one is a massive video board
- 2:06Speaker 4: slash jumbotrons.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Video board. I don't like going to games, just so
- 2:13Speaker 3: we're clear, okay?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:16Speaker 5: But if I had to. I love going to games.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Do you really? Well, I probably, yeah. But you miss
- 2:22Speaker 3: all the other games when you go to a game,
- 2:23Speaker 3: you know?
- 2:24Speaker 4: Well, if it's a standalone game like tonight. It's a
- 2:27Speaker 4: good game to go to.
- 2:28Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Right. But you missed that Syracuse Pitt game.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 2:31Speaker 4: How will I ever recover?
- 2:34Speaker 5: It's a big one.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Pitt.
- 2:38Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:40Speaker 3: What was the last one? Video boards?
- 2:42Speaker 4: Like a massive video board jumbotron. Like, think the one
- 2:44Speaker 4: that the Cowboys have.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Okay. All right.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I got mine. I got my power rankings.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I want to make sure I have the options here.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Elite food option.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Fast Wi-Fi.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Good tailgating.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Yep.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Video boards.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Yep.
- 3:02Speaker 4: And you're missing one. Comfy seats.
- 3:04Speaker 3: No, no, no. I had that. Comfy seats.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Yes. I wasn't finished yet.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I wrote it down last. It was a weird thing
- 3:09Speaker 3: to do. All right, Mikey.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Considering he read them to you in the reverse order.
- 3:14Speaker 5: I know. Well, thank you. Yes, that's why I said
- 3:16Speaker 5: it was weird. I'm thinking you tipped your hand into
- 3:18Speaker 5: your power rankings. That's what I'm thinking happened.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Wait, you have yours ranked already?
- 3:23Speaker 5: I had mine ranked easily. Easily? Which is the.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Least important of these things to you?
- 3:31Speaker 5: To me? Yes. The video board.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Taylor, what is the least important thing to you?
- 3:37Speaker 4: A comfortable seat.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 3:40Speaker 5: No. It's going to be up there.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I'm going to go.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I say video boards to video boards is number five
- 3:47Speaker 1: for me. I don't care about a nice video board.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Just give me a video board. It doesn't have to
- 3:50Speaker 1: be nice.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 3:52Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying. Like any video board will do
- 3:54Speaker 6: if it's not the Jerry. Like you go in, you
- 3:57Speaker 6: see Jerry's where they're like, oh, that's cool. But I
- 3:59Speaker 6: want to watch the game. I don't want to watch
- 4:01Speaker 6: the video board.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:02Speaker 4: So on the contrary though, like if you go to
- 4:04Speaker 4: the Miami heats arena, those video boards look like they
- 4:07Speaker 4: have not been touched since that building was open.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 4: And it's almost detracting from, from the game day experience.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Well, what do you mean?
- 4:15Speaker 4: Well, yeah, it's like such a bad jumbotron that you're
- 4:18Speaker 4: looking at and you're like, man, you got.
- 4:21Speaker 3: To update this.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Get with the times guys.
- 4:26Speaker 6: I assume if you're building a new stadium, the video
- 4:29Speaker 6: boards are not going to be, you know, seen as
- 4:31Speaker 6: televisions from 1987.
- 4:33Speaker 5: If you put it.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Fifth, you're telling your stadium creator, hey, it's not that important.
- 4:38Speaker 4: We're not worried about it.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It isn't.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You know, EP Jason writes in that Mikey really didn't
- 4:43Speaker 1: give this any thought.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It's a think about it Thursday, and you were just
- 4:46Speaker 3: ready to go.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Boom.
- 4:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 5: All right.
- 4:49Speaker 3: All right. Hold on. Hold on. Just slow down. I'm
- 4:53Speaker 3: still thinking. Number four. For me, Mikey, I don't care
- 4:58Speaker 3: about tailgating options. Do not care. So that would be
- 5:01Speaker 3: number four for me.
- 5:02Speaker 5: You? Me?
- 5:05Speaker 6: This is going to surprise you guys. My number four,
- 5:08Speaker 6: elite food options. If I go to a game, I'm
- 5:10Speaker 6: not trying to have some gourmet meal. I don't really care.
- 5:14Speaker 6: If I go to a game, I expect that I'm
- 5:16Speaker 6: going to eat bad food. If I'm going, I'm probably
- 5:21Speaker 6: going to eat beforehand.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Yes.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Sure, if they have something fun, I'll get it. But
- 5:26Speaker 6: I don't need elite food options. Give me a hot
- 5:29Speaker 6: dog and a beer, and I'll.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Be all right.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'm shocked.
- 5:31Speaker 5: I really am.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I figured you would be. Based on my knowledge. Because
- 5:35Speaker 1: I'm fat. Well, that's not why.
- 5:36Speaker 3: You like food. You just happen to be fat. But
- 5:39Speaker 3: you like food.
- 5:42Speaker 5: It's a vicious cycle.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I haven't been this shocked since the Cardinals strolled in
- 5:51Speaker 1: LA and beat the chargers.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I mean, I'm.
- 5:54Speaker 4: With Mikey here where elite food is for, for me,
- 5:58Speaker 4: because it's, You could prioritize food in a tailgate. Like,
- 6:02Speaker 4: just because you don't choose great in-stadium food doesn't mean
- 6:05Speaker 4: you're not getting great tailgating food beforehand. And, like, when
- 6:09Speaker 4: I go to a Yankee game, for instance, I'm clear-bagging
- 6:11Speaker 4: and I'm bringing in my own food to that game anyways.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Speaking of the Yankees, judges heard again, huh?
- 6:18Speaker 5: I'm not prepared to talk about that.
- 6:20Speaker 4: For my own mental health.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Perhaps Booney was right, taking him out in the fifth
- 6:23Speaker 3: inning that one game.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Different injury.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Of course. It's always something.
- 6:30Speaker 5: At least he didn't do it rehabbing and falling down
- 6:33Speaker 5: like somebody.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Listen, I told you guys he gets injured all the time.
- 6:37Speaker 1: You came back to me with he's missed like four
- 6:38Speaker 1: games in the last two years.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I was right, though. I mean, he's injured again.
- 6:42Speaker 1: All right, number three for me is elite food. I mean,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I just need food options. I need good food. It
- 6:52Speaker 1: doesn't need to be gourmet food. I just want to
- 6:54Speaker 1: know that there's good food there, and I have options.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That's all.
- 6:57Speaker 4: A hot dog is a hot dog in almost any stadium.
- 7:00Speaker 1: No.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I don't think it is. Oh, you disagree?
- 7:03Speaker 5: Fenway Franks are different.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:05Speaker 5: They're different.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I will tell you, growing up, going to Islander games
- 7:08Speaker 1: at Nassau Coliseum out in Uniondale, Long Island, they had
- 7:11Speaker 1: beer dogs. And those are the best hot dogs I've
- 7:13Speaker 1: ever had. They dipped them in beer. And they were
- 7:15Speaker 1: the best hot dogs I've ever had.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Did you have to show an ID for that? No.
- 7:20Speaker 7: I mean.
- 7:21Speaker 5: It was a different time.
- 7:21Speaker 3: My dad used to send my dad.
- 7:22Speaker 5: It was the 60s.
- 7:23Speaker 8: Yes.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You can't walk into a stadium with anything anymore. My
- 7:30Speaker 1: dad used to walk in with an extra kid. We
- 7:32Speaker 1: had two seats, and he would bring.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Both of us. How about that?
- 7:36Speaker 5: It's a handy play.
- 7:37Speaker 3: It is a handy play, yes. He would just grease
- 7:38Speaker 3: the guy.
- 7:41Speaker 5: All right.
- 7:41Speaker 6: What's number, Mikey, what was your three? So my number three,
- 7:46Speaker 6: it should be higher, but the other things are just
- 7:49Speaker 6: more important to me. Number three is Wi-Fi. I want
- 7:53Speaker 6: good Wi-Fi. It's just probably the other things.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Are more important. Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I'm with you. It's so important to me. It's number two.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I need Wi-Fi. If I'm at a game, attending a game.
- 8:04Speaker 5: I want to know what Taylor's number three is before
- 8:06Speaker 5: we get to your number two. That's a good point.
- 8:08Speaker 5: You're right.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Spoiler alert.
- 8:09Speaker 4: My number three is the video board because at some
- 8:12Speaker 4: point I'm paying all this money to go to a game.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I don't need this giant TV in front of me.
- 8:17Speaker 3: All right.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:19Speaker 3: The game should be the entertainment. Right. It should be five.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Right.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I'm just looking up on occasion to make sure like
- 8:25Speaker 4: a replay or maybe the guess what ball the hat
- 8:30Speaker 4: is under, you know, that game. Yeah. The shuffle.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Oh, I love that game.
- 8:33Speaker 5: I'm undefeated at that, by the way. Yes.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Are you really?
- 8:36Speaker 4: So I used to be really good at that game.
- 8:38Speaker 4: And then I think I got a concussion one time
- 8:39Speaker 4: at North Carolina. And ever since then, I have not
- 8:42Speaker 4: been able to follow where the ball is.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Really? You should get that checked out.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 3: You're talking about the shell game, essentially.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Yes, exactly. I was the Mikey A of the shell game. Like,
- 8:53Speaker 4: I was batting 100%. Right. And then ever since I
- 8:56Speaker 4: got hit one time.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Yes.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Once I got hit one time, once you get to
- 9:00Speaker 4: where they stack them all three and then they go
- 9:02Speaker 4: to their new positions, I can't follow it anymore.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Batting 100 will get you sent down to the minors.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Mikey was right, 1,000.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:09Speaker 3: All right.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So the video board's not important to you. Wi-Fi is
- 9:15Speaker 1: very important to me. If I'm attending a game, I
- 9:17Speaker 1: want to have fast Wi-Fi. I want to watch the
- 9:18Speaker 1: Red Zone channel. I want to check my fantasy team.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I want to see all the stuff that I need
- 9:22Speaker 1: to see on a Sunday.
- 9:23Speaker 4: If you're putting in bets, you want to see how
- 9:24Speaker 4: those bets are doing.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want it to glitch. I need good internet. Yes,
- 9:28Speaker 1: that's very important. It's number two for me, yes.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Mikey?
- 9:33Speaker 6: My number two is tailgate space. If I'm going to
- 9:36Speaker 6: a game, I'm going for the tailgate and the event.
- 9:39Speaker 5: It's a whole day. So, yeah, number two is tailgate space.
- 9:43Speaker 6: There's nothing worse than going somewhere and you get no
- 9:47Speaker 6: tailgating space.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:48Speaker 1: You loved Kansas City. We went there for the opening
- 9:50Speaker 1: game a couple of years ago. We went to their
- 9:52Speaker 1: tailgate area. They were out there since 7 in the
- 9:55Speaker 1: morning for an 8 o'clock game.
- 9:57Speaker 3: You loved that experience. That was perfect for you, right?
- 9:59Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 10:00Speaker 7: Yes.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 10:01Speaker 7: Yes.
- 10:01Speaker 3: What do you have, Taylor? What's your number two here?
- 10:04Speaker 4: My number two, I am also going with Wi-Fi. Because
- 10:08Speaker 4: it is important to me, but it's not the end-all, be-all.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:14Speaker 3: You left out... Smoking sections.
- 10:17Speaker 5: What is this, the 1990s? Mikey C has it number one.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I need options, man. I do. I need options. So
- 10:28Speaker 3: my number one is comfy seats.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Same.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I think that's a terrible choice at number one.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Why?
- 10:35Speaker 1: When I'm at home watching the game, I'm comfortable. I'm
- 10:40Speaker 1: in a comfy seat. And if I go to a
- 10:42Speaker 1: game at a stadium, if I dare go to a
- 10:45Speaker 1: game at a stadium, I would like to sit in
- 10:47Speaker 1: something not as comfortable, but still comfortable nonetheless.
- 10:52Speaker 6: When you say comfy seat, I just have to make sure, like, A,
- 10:57Speaker 6: I'm not stacked up on top of the next person,
- 11:00Speaker 6: that there isn't anything digging into me, that I have
- 11:02Speaker 6: enough leg room to put my drink down. Like, it's
- 11:06Speaker 6: important to me the space I get to watch a game.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Michigan giving me a bleacher? Get out of here. Oh, no,
- 11:14Speaker 5: I like that.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Because I think a true fan experience, true games, you're
- 11:20Speaker 4: supposed to stand for games. Like, I don't really believe
- 11:22Speaker 4: in the sitting. I hate when I'm standing and the
- 11:25Speaker 4: person behind me is yelling, hey, sit down. I came
- 11:28Speaker 4: to this game, I could stand or sit if I choose.
- 11:31Speaker 5: Right.
- 11:32Speaker 4: And most of the time, I am choosing stand because
- 11:35Speaker 4: if you have comfortable seats, you're leaning into the laissez-faire atmosphere.
- 11:39Speaker 4: And I want a rowdy atmosphere. I want more bleachers.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Standing is a young skinny man's game i am neither
- 11:46Speaker 5: of those.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Things i stand at home i pace at home uh
- 11:49Speaker 1: but that guy tells you to sit down do you
- 11:51Speaker 1: tell him to stand up.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Yes i look at you funny there's two outs yeah
- 11:55Speaker 4: there's two strikes right i'm standing up and i'm getting
- 11:57Speaker 4: the crowd pumped up.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's so annoying we're at a football game man stop
- 12:03Speaker 1: telling me to sit down you stand up I.
- 12:07Speaker 6: Yell at Taylor to sit down, but it has nothing
- 12:10Speaker 6: to do with the fact of the thing.
- 12:11Speaker 5: It's just like, hey, you, guy, sit down. You're bothering everybody.
- 12:15Speaker 1: What's the stadium you went to where they tricked you
- 12:17Speaker 1: into thinking seat one was an aisle seat and it
- 12:19Speaker 1: turned out to be a middle seat?
- 12:21Speaker 5: That was Michigan. That was the big house.
- 12:24Speaker 6: I always buy aisle seats so that I could pour
- 12:27Speaker 6: my fat self into the aisle a little bit, have
- 12:29Speaker 6: a little more room.
- 12:30Speaker 5: So I'm like, you know what? Michigan, I'm buying. I
- 12:33Speaker 5: know it's bleachers. I'm going to buy seat one. I'm
- 12:36Speaker 5: going to be okay.
- 12:37Speaker 6: And seat one is in the middle of the section.
- 12:40Speaker 6: The aisles are at, like, seat 16. And I was like,
- 12:43Speaker 6: this was a very poor choice.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Right.
- 12:47Speaker 4: With the Bills making their debut tonight, There's a chance
- 12:51Speaker 4: that Josh Allen and Highmark Stadium become the best player-stadium
- 12:54Speaker 4: combo in all of sports. I have a couple of
- 12:57Speaker 4: other nominees if you guys want them.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Oh, wait, we're still thinking. Hold on.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Are we going to rank these two?
- 13:03Speaker 4: You don't have to rank them.
- 13:04Speaker 5: You can just think about them.
- 13:05Speaker 3: So you have Josh Allen and a stadium he hasn't
- 13:07Speaker 3: played in yet, right?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Yeah, the unknown of Highmark.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Okay, the unknown of Highmark.
- 13:12Speaker 4: But you know Josh Allen's.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Like an MVP. Of course, yes, yes. The other options
- 13:17Speaker 5: I have.
- 13:19Speaker 4: PCA and Wrigley.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Pretty good. MVP.
- 13:24Speaker 4: And the Friendly Confines.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And the Friendly Confines. Sorry.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Not a great stadium. I'm going to say it.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Historically, it's awesome to be there, but fifth inning, I'm
- 13:36Speaker 6: ready to go.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Well, that's any baseball game for me.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Same with Fenway.
- 13:43Speaker 4: What about the combo Jalen Brunson, Madison Square Garden?
- 13:46Speaker 3: The best. Yes.
- 13:48Speaker 5: I mean, I think that might be the answer.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:51Speaker 4: It's his house because the Packers don't really have anybody
- 13:54Speaker 4: with Lambeau. So far, who really cares about who plays
- 13:58Speaker 4: in L.A.? And then PNC, they have Paul Skeens.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Not Cam Schlittler.
- 14:04Speaker 9: Right.
- 14:05Speaker 5: You're right.
- 14:05Speaker 3: No one cares about, you know, where they play in L.A.,
- 14:08Speaker 3: who's playing in L.A. They just don't care.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Justin Herbert.
- 14:11Speaker 1: They should take sports away from that city, college and professional.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Booger McFarlane going to join us next to talk about
- 14:17Speaker 1: LSU and the ridiculous report, the idea that Sam Leavitt

- 15:43Speaker 3: Mikey, you'll laugh at this.
- 15:44Speaker 1: They are criticizing Matt Nagy for how much better the
- 15:47Speaker 1: offense is with Eric Biennemi in Kansas City, yet Matt
- 15:50Speaker 1: Nagy is the toast of the town in New York.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I can't figure football out, man. I have no idea
- 15:55Speaker 1: if Nagy is good at this or if he's bad
- 15:57Speaker 1: at this.
- 15:58Speaker 3: He had Patrick Mahomes. He was terrible. He has Jackson Dart.
- 16:01Speaker 3: He's great through one game.
- 16:04Speaker 8: Football I'll tell you what with Matt Nagy he focused
- 16:07Speaker 8: way too much on that Cody Parkey field goal miss
- 16:10Speaker 8: in Chicago the double doink like they were so fixated
- 16:13Speaker 8: on that they actually made the playoffs twice under Nagy
- 16:17Speaker 8: there but they were so worried about the stupid double
- 16:19Speaker 8: doink and man Win, win, win, as Michael Scott would say.
- 16:25Speaker 8: Because New York gets naggy. Chiefs have their. And the Ravens,
- 16:29Speaker 8: they wanted to get rid of John Harbaugh. And now
- 16:31Speaker 8: Declan Doyle and Jesse Minter are the toast of the town.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Everybody wins. Win, win, win, win, win, win, win.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:36Speaker 5: The double doink, though, Dan. We win, too.
- 16:39Speaker 4: The double doink feels like something that's tough to come
- 16:42Speaker 4: back from as a head coach.
- 16:45Speaker 3: It is the most impossible thing to come back from.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Double doink loss. Yes.
- 16:50Speaker 8: Like we think of double doink is like how awful
- 16:52Speaker 8: is that? But it's also like how close that could
- 16:54Speaker 8: have gone in.
- 16:55Speaker 7: Right.
- 16:55Speaker 8: It had two opportunities to go in. And then when
- 16:58Speaker 8: they were trying out kickers because everybody was mad at
- 17:00Speaker 8: Cody Parkey, he's making them kick a 43 yard field goal.
- 17:03Speaker 8: which is focusing so much on what was a really,
- 17:06Speaker 8: really close kick.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Do you guys remember the aftermath of that? Thank you
- 17:10Speaker 1: for jarring my memory, Dan, because they had tryouts for kickers.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I mean, they were taking anyone off the street, anyone
- 17:16Speaker 1: who could kick.
- 17:18Speaker 8: From 43 yards, whatever. I think that was the distance,
- 17:21Speaker 8: but my goodness.
- 17:23Speaker 4: I also had this thought after the Thursday night football
- 17:26Speaker 4: game with Patriots Seahawks where Drake May has that catastrophic mistake.
- 17:31Speaker 5: And I was thinking like. That was Wednesday.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Last season.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Oh, that was the Wednesday game.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:36Speaker 4: And the Rams 49ers was a Thursday night game.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yes.
- 17:39Speaker 4: I had the thought if Drake May's career never recovers
- 17:42Speaker 4: from this mistake, I wouldn't be that surprised. Even though
- 17:45Speaker 4: he was an MVP candidate. I know we're doing overreaction Mondays.
- 17:48Speaker 7: Right.
- 17:49Speaker 4: I would still be surprised. And it's Tuesday.
- 17:55Speaker 3: You got nothing right there.
- 18:00Speaker 8: That's a Brett Musburger. Mark it down. That's what it is.
- 18:04Speaker 8: Brett Musburger. Mark it down. 535 in the second quarter.
- 18:08Speaker 8: Mark it down.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I mean, if you wonder why I'm confused. And a
- 18:13Speaker 3: bit dizzy. No, he doesn't. He doesn't recover from these things.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I was confused.
- 18:18Speaker 3: I had no idea what he was trying to say.
- 18:20Speaker 5: Somebody bring in the righty.
- 18:22Speaker 1: All right, I'm bringing in Mikey A. If the season
- 18:27Speaker 1: ended today, it's a tradition around here. We do it
- 18:30Speaker 1: every single week, and we are only through week one.
- 18:33Speaker 3: So, Mikey A., take it away.
- 18:34Speaker 5: If the season ended today....
- 18:38Speaker 6: All right, so as Stu said, this is something we
- 18:40Speaker 6: do a lot where we just end the NFL season
- 18:43Speaker 6: right now, and this is the world we're going to
- 18:45Speaker 6: live in. If the season ended today, your number one
- 18:50Speaker 6: seed in the AFC would be the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 18:54Speaker 5: Wow.
- 18:55Speaker 3: So what he's asking us is, do we think that's
- 18:58Speaker 3: going to hold, right? Essentially?
- 19:03Speaker 5: I'm just asking you if you'd be surprised if you'd
- 19:05Speaker 5: like that.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Well, I wouldn't be surprised.
- 19:07Speaker 5: I'll give you the playoff match.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Well, it's a fact, though. The Jaguars would be the
- 19:10Speaker 3: number one seed.
- 19:11Speaker 5: Yes.
- 19:13Speaker 3: If the season ended today. Yes.
- 19:14Speaker 8: And the last place you'd want to go in the
- 19:16Speaker 8: playoffs in January is northeast Florida to a stadium that's
- 19:20Speaker 8: only half being used because it's being built for a
- 19:23Speaker 8: new stadium. And they have to put lights in the
- 19:26Speaker 8: upper deck because they have nowhere else to put them.
- 19:28Speaker 8: That's the last place you want to go in January
- 19:31Speaker 8: in the NFL.
- 19:32Speaker 1: You're so right, Dan, because all the other AFC contenders
- 19:34Speaker 1: are saying, hey, if we're not going to be the
- 19:36Speaker 1: one seed, let us be two, three or four.
- 19:37Speaker 3: But let Jacksonville be the one seed. It's like a
- 19:41Speaker 3: home game for us. Right.
- 19:44Speaker 5: So here are your games in the AFC playoffs. If
- 19:47Speaker 5: the season ended today.
- 19:48Speaker 3: So if the season ended today.
- 19:50Speaker 1: After a week uh this would be your playoff matchups
- 19:53Speaker 1: in the afc okay this.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Is correct all right all right the cincinnati bangles would
- 19:58Speaker 6: be traveling to the kansas city chiefs.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'll take that game right now so whenever right now
- 20:04Speaker 1: i would take this game.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yes Would Mahomes take this game?
- 20:08Speaker 8: I like Kansas City in that matchup to make a
- 20:11Speaker 8: solid victory. However, not enough to say that they're there
- 20:17Speaker 8: in the playoffs, but give me the Chiefs.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Wow, what a great matchup. Bengals at Chiefs. Hold on.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I thought we're picking the game. I mean, it gets better.
- 20:27Speaker 3: You got to move. All right. I have the Bengals
- 20:29Speaker 3: in there.
- 20:29Speaker 4: It's hard to see how it's going to get better
- 20:31Speaker 4: than that game.
- 20:32Speaker 3: It's impossible.
- 20:34Speaker 5: The Buffalo Bills travel to the Baltimore Ravens.
- 20:37Speaker 3: It's possible. So now it's Bills at Ravens. If the
- 20:45Speaker 3: season ended today.
- 20:47Speaker 1: You would have the greatest first round in the history
- 20:49Speaker 1: of the NFL playoffs. I wish the season did end today.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But Bill's at Ravens. That's a battle of two quarterbacks
- 20:57Speaker 1: chasing a ring, man.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Wow.
- 21:00Speaker 3: And the winner goes on to face Cincinnati, I guess.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 21:03Speaker 5: Or Jacksonville. Depends on the third matchup, too. Remember how
- 21:08Speaker 5: I said it gets better? Yes.
- 21:10Speaker 6: That was the last game. Your last matchup is the
- 21:12Speaker 6: Raiders at the Jets. That's your NFL Network Saturday night game,
- 21:16Speaker 6: I bet.
- 21:18Speaker 3: If the season ended today, people's heads would explode. Raiders
- 21:22Speaker 3: at the Jets.
- 21:25Speaker 1: A revenge spot for gino smith gino right not the
- 21:28Speaker 1: exact revenge that he wants but revenge nonetheless.
- 21:32Speaker 8: We we also got a tweet this from 1968 yes
- 21:35Speaker 8: please on jets raiders 1968 loves that.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Matchup the oakland raiders right yes.
- 21:43Speaker 8: Raiders jets they're good with it i have the jets.
- 21:46Speaker 5: In that game oh yeah jets would be at least
- 21:49Speaker 5: minus four and a half.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Wait that means kirk cousins would still be starting for
- 21:52Speaker 1: the raiders if they made it that far right sure
- 21:55Speaker 1: i mean if the season ended today if the season
- 21:58Speaker 1: ended today kirk cousins is still starting what a weekend
- 22:01Speaker 1: we have in store for.
- 22:01Speaker 8: Us i mean would gina smith be the first quarterback
- 22:04Speaker 8: to win a division without throwing a touchdown pass the
- 22:07Speaker 8: entire season i think that's that's also borderline history with
- 22:12Speaker 8: what we have.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Mikey did the steelers miss the playoffs at one and
- 22:15Speaker 4: oh They did tiebreaker.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Tiebreakers. Yep.
- 22:20Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 22:21Speaker 8: Yes.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Why undefeated?
- 22:26Speaker 1: You want to talk cruel.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Let's go to the NFC. Let's do it in the NFC.
- 22:33Speaker 6: Your number one seed is the San Francisco 49ers. They
- 22:35Speaker 6: get to buy. Your first matchup. The Philadelphia Eagles are
- 22:44Speaker 6: at the Minnesota Vikings.
- 22:46Speaker 3: So it's a loud revenge game for Carson Wentz.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Wow.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I mean, if the season ended today, Carson Wentz would
- 23:02Speaker 3: be the quarterback in that game.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Yes. Your second matchup.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:08Speaker 6: The Detroit Lions would also be traveling to New York.
- 23:13Speaker 6: to face the New York Giants.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So if the season ended today, both New York teams
- 23:18Speaker 1: would make the playoffs.
- 23:20Speaker 5: They're hosting two games in two days.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Yes. I mean, I think the Giants are going to
- 23:27Speaker 3: make the playoffs. I know the season doesn't end today.
- 23:31Speaker 1: We have, you know, 17 more weeks of this crap.
- 23:35Speaker 1: But I still have the Giants making the playoffs. I'm
- 23:38Speaker 1: trying to think who would win that game.
- 23:39Speaker 3: It's a tough game.
- 23:40Speaker 5: It's a tough game.
- 23:42Speaker 3: It is.
- 23:43Speaker 5: I mean, Campbell, Harbaugh.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I'll take the Giants.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Your last matchup in the playoffs if the season ended today. Yes.
- 23:56Speaker 6: The Chicago Bears would be traveling to the winless New
- 24:01Speaker 6: Orleans Saints who are hosting a playoff.
- 24:04Speaker 5: That can't be right. That can't be right.
- 24:07Speaker 3: You cannot have undefeated.
- 24:08Speaker 5: NFC South winner. Oh, I forgot.
- 24:10Speaker 3: It's so perfect for the NFC South.
- 24:13Speaker 8: They did enough.
- 24:14Speaker 1: You can't have undefeated teams not making it to the
- 24:17Speaker 1: postseason and winless teams making it to the postseason.
- 24:20Speaker 3: You can't do it.
- 24:21Speaker 5: You sure can.
- 24:23Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 24:24Speaker 4: What was that matchup?
- 24:25Speaker 5: Bears at Panthers.
- 24:28Speaker 1: No bears at saints no i wish every week was
- 24:30Speaker 1: bears at panthers.
- 24:36Speaker 3: What an entertaining game.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yes nfc south winner i have the bears winning that
- 24:40Speaker 1: game and then winning the next game and the next
- 24:43Speaker 1: game and the next game how about.
- 24:44Speaker 6: That and listen don't don't don't dismiss tyler shuck he's
- 24:49Speaker 6: your uh nfl passing leader if the season ended today.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Without a win without a win they would be the
- 24:57Speaker 1: first winless team to ever make it to the playoffs
- 25:01Speaker 1: so the saints get in the league in uh interceptions
- 25:05Speaker 1: the season ended today the jets tj watt uh tj
- 25:08Speaker 1: of course.
- 25:12Speaker 8: Saints get in based on best combined ranking among conference
- 25:15Speaker 8: teams in points scored and points allowed.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Wow yep Really taking this seriously, Dan. I like it.
- 25:23Speaker 3: I mean, that's the point of the game.
- 25:25Speaker 5: He's checking my work, and I like it.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I appreciate it. I am so happy that you're this
- 25:29Speaker 1: into it. I didn't think anyone was this into it
- 25:31Speaker 1: other than me and Billy Gill.
- 25:32Speaker 8: 100 bucks, these matchups are better than what we actually
- 25:34Speaker 8: get in January. Like, these are magnificent so far.
- 25:38Speaker 3: They really are.
- 25:39Speaker 5: You're right.
- 25:40Speaker 1: We should stop the season today because we might not
- 25:42Speaker 1: get these come January.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:46Speaker 6: Listen, as a Jets fan, if the season ended today,
- 25:49Speaker 6: the Jets are picking second Thanks to the Green Bay Packers.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Right. Sixth. Thanks to the Indianapolis Colts.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Wow.
- 25:57Speaker 5: And the Tampa Bay Bucks are on the clock.
- 25:59Speaker 3: So they make the playoffs.
- 26:01Speaker 1: They still have the second pick and the sixth pick
- 26:03Speaker 1: in next year's NFL draft. And if, you know, perhaps
- 26:06Speaker 1: they get bounced out in the first round, Gino's getting older,
- 26:09Speaker 1: they could still get their quarterback of the future.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Wow.
- 26:11Speaker 2: What a season.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 4: The other option there.
- 26:15Speaker 3: We had a week.
- 26:16Speaker 4: You get Gino Smith, some help Jeremiah Smith in New
- 26:19Speaker 4: York next year.
- 26:20Speaker 5: That's what the sixth pick is for.
- 26:25Speaker 8: You mentioned the Carson Wentz bowl. I'm still stuck to
- 26:27Speaker 8: Sam Bradford show up in the half and half Jersey,
- 26:30Speaker 8: like the half Vikings, half Eagles Jersey for that game.
- 26:33Speaker 8: There's a lot riding on, on the line here. A
- 26:37Speaker 8: lot of cross-pollination. If the season ended today. If the
- 26:41Speaker 8: season ended today.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Wait, so the Texans aren't in?
- 26:46Speaker 5: Texans aren't in?
- 26:47Speaker 8: No. Seahawks aren't in.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Now I know why he's pissed off. This is why
- 26:52Speaker 3: he's so engaged.
- 26:55Speaker 5: This is why I'm reading tiebreakers. The Texans are picking fourth. Oh, wow.
- 27:00Speaker 3: They get their quarterback.
- 27:03Speaker 5: If the season ended today.
- 27:06Speaker 3: When would the draft be?
- 27:10Speaker 5: Tomorrow.
- 27:11Speaker 4: I would be fine if we just got rid of
- 27:12Speaker 4: the NFC South entirely.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Put it on the poll. Would you be okay if
- 27:16Speaker 3: we got rid of the NFC South entirely?
- 27:19Speaker 4: Just like disband them and send them to other divisions.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Yes.
- 27:22Speaker 3: I'm all for it.
- 27:24Speaker 5: I mean, why?
- 27:25Speaker 3: What's the point?
- 27:26Speaker 1: I mean, one of those teams is going to go
- 27:28Speaker 1: 8-9 and make it to the postseason and bounce out
- 27:30Speaker 1: in the first round.
- 27:31Speaker 3: A tradition unlike any other.
- 27:35Speaker 5: That was the Panthers Super Bowl last year, remember?
- 27:37Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Go toe-to-toe with the Rams.
- 27:40Speaker 3: If the season ended today, who would be your MVP?
- 27:43Speaker 3: One week.
- 27:43Speaker 4: For me, it would be Josh Allen.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I would go Kenneth Walker.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Wow, I forgot about Kenneth Walker already, actually. That was impressive.
- 27:54Speaker 3: So it's the MVP of week one, essentially, is what
- 27:56Speaker 3: I'm asking.
- 27:58Speaker 8: Caleb Williams. Oh, that's right.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I forgot about it.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Coach of the year, Ben Johnson.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Coach of the year, Ben Johnson, MVP, Caleb Williams. Yes,
- 28:08Speaker 3: I agree. Yes. The Bears winning the Super Bowl. If
- 28:12Speaker 3: the season ended today.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Chris Olave, your offensive player of the year, leads the
- 28:17Speaker 5: league in receiving.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Does it?
- 28:20Speaker 8: Derek Henry would also get some votes.
- 28:22Speaker 5: Right.
- 28:23Speaker 3: He would love a one-game season because eventually Olave is
- 28:25Speaker 3: going to get hurt.
- 28:26Speaker 4: So.
- 28:28Speaker 3: First year, he stayed upright the entire season.
- 28:34Speaker 8: He's covered with the Guardian cap now.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Those days are in the past. I like the Saints, man.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I want the Saints to do well. I like Shuck.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I like that team. They're entertaining.
- 28:44Speaker 3: They're fun. Why are you shaking your head, Taylor? You
- 28:47Speaker 3: don't like that division?
- 28:48Speaker 5: I like Shuck.
- 28:50Speaker 4: I don't like the supporting cast around Chuck.
- 28:54Speaker 5: They leave. We're supposed to have Chuck on.
- 28:55Speaker 4: They leave a lot to be desired, the New Orleans Saints.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I'm working on it.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Work harder.
- 29:02Speaker 1: You think Chuck likes his surrounding talent? I think he
- 29:06Speaker 1: likes the guys on offense. The defense, he probably has
- 29:08Speaker 1: some questions.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Remember when we had Tyler Shuck on and we asked him, like,
- 29:11Speaker 4: who would you add to this team? And he said,
- 29:13Speaker 4: Alec Pierce. And everybody kind of looked around and said.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Alec Pierce.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yes, it was weird.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 29:17Speaker 3: No, I asked him, hey, you can have one wide
- 29:19Speaker 3: receiver in the NFL. Anyone.
- 29:21Speaker 1: You can pick anyone. They're all at your disposal. And
- 29:25Speaker 1: he thought for a minute. And then he thought some more.
- 29:27Speaker 1: And what he blurted back to us was Alec Pierce.
- 29:29Speaker 1: And we all looked at each other like he was
- 29:31Speaker 1: an alien.
- 29:32Speaker 6: I mean, but that's Tyler Shuck playing chess while we're
- 29:36Speaker 6: playing checkers. He knew if he said somebody currently on
- 29:39Speaker 6: a team. he could get fined for tampering. So he
- 29:42Speaker 6: said a free agent. He said the best free agent available.
- 29:45Speaker 3: It's a heady blood.
- 29:46Speaker 4: I'm not sure there's any world where Alec Pierce is
- 29:48Speaker 4: the best free agent available.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Best wide receiver free agent available.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So you're saying at the time he just didn't know
- 29:54Speaker 1: his options is essentially what you're saying.
- 29:56Speaker 5: He just can't say Justin Jefferson. Right.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Vikings sue for another tampering and they cost him a
- 30:02Speaker 6: second round pick or something.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Can't do it.
- 30:04Speaker 1: No, but Taylor's saying there could be two free agent
- 30:07Speaker 1: wide receivers and the best one is never going to
- 30:09Speaker 1: be out here.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 30:11Speaker 8: Alec Pierce is Sterling Shepard. Who do you like? Who
- 30:13Speaker 8: are you taking?
- 30:16Speaker 5: I'll take OBJ over.
- 30:18Speaker 6: Is it possible he thought I said white receiver instead.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Of wide receiver?
- 30:26Speaker 3: That concludes if the season ended today. Luckily, it doesn't.
- 30:33Speaker 5: Well, the Jets did.
- 30:35Speaker 3: And I love it.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Taylor, what is happening with this Tennessee Titan fan who's
- 30:39Speaker 1: getting attacked by the internet?
- 30:42Speaker 3: What is going on there?
- 30:43Speaker 4: So a Titans fan made the catastrophic mistake of putting
- 30:47Speaker 4: out a promise on social media if the Titans were
- 30:51Speaker 4: to lose to the Jets.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 30:52Speaker 4: So August 23rd, a Twitter user by the handle of BallinFFB,
- 30:59Speaker 4: if the Tennessee Titans lose to the Jets today, If
- 31:02Speaker 4: the Tennessee Titans lose to the Jets week one, I
- 31:04Speaker 4: will walk from MetLife Stadium all the way to Nissan
- 31:08Speaker 4: Stadium nonstop.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Right. OK.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And?
- 31:12Speaker 4: Time to pay up the bet because the Jets win.
- 31:15Speaker 4: The Jets beat the Titans 23 to 10. And this
- 31:17Speaker 4: guy has come to Twitter and said, I'm not walking.
- 31:21Speaker 3: He's the Stugatz of the day. I mean, how about that?
- 31:24Speaker 3: He is not walking.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Why would he put that out there and then not
- 31:29Speaker 1: pay off the bet?
- 31:30Speaker 3: I mean, it's ridiculous.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Because his nickname, his Twitter handle is balling. Yes. That's why.
- 31:35Speaker 5: Because he's one of those people. Yes.
- 31:37Speaker 4: So once he put this up on August 23rd, the
- 31:40Speaker 4: next day it had started to blow up because Jets
- 31:43Speaker 4: fans were like, hey, we are going to hold you
- 31:45Speaker 4: accountable if the Jets win this game.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Right.
- 31:48Speaker 4: And Jets fans are tweeting at him like, make sure
- 31:50Speaker 4: you hydrate. He's like, oh, we're not losing to the
- 31:52Speaker 4: lousy Jets. So when you put Nissan Stadium to MetLife
- 31:55Speaker 4: Stadium in Google Maps or Apple Maps.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Right. It says you can't walk. What?
- 32:01Speaker 4: It says you can only drive because I'm assuming they're
- 32:04Speaker 4: saying you can't walk on like major highways.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 32:07Speaker 4: So that's what this guy, this fan is now using
- 32:09Speaker 4: as his excuse. The walk apparently is impossible. But if
- 32:13Speaker 4: a car could get you there.
- 32:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 32:15Speaker 4: So can your feet. And this guy better get walking.
- 32:18Speaker 3: He found the loophole.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I mean, and it's funny, the least accountable fan base
- 32:23Speaker 1: in all of sports is trying to hold someone accountable
- 32:27Speaker 1: for something they said on social media. I mean, Jet
- 32:31Speaker 1: fans holding a guy accountable is laugh out loud funny.
- 32:35Speaker 3: He should walk, though.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Stu, 1000%.
- 32:37Speaker 4: The second you put it on social media, if blank happens,
- 32:41Speaker 4: I'll do blank. You have to follow through on that
- 32:43Speaker 4: because I don't know if you guys remember this. A
- 32:45Speaker 4: Florida State fan did something similar when they were playing
- 32:49Speaker 4: Boston College back in 2024.
- 32:50Speaker 8: Right.
- 32:58Speaker 4: He would eat something coming from a dog out of
- 33:01Speaker 4: a Red Solo cup using a spoon and post a
- 33:03Speaker 4: video because he was that sure that they would not
- 33:06Speaker 4: lose to FSU.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Right.
- 33:08Speaker 4: And FSU wound up losing the game 28 to 13.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:11Speaker 5: And since that has happened.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Fsu is cursed like nothing has gone right for fsu
- 33:17Speaker 4: since this fan made made this proclamation.
- 33:21Speaker 1: They fired their ad correct not their coach mike norvell
- 33:23Speaker 1: that's coming they fired the ad florida state yes.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Yeah this is what we call in the business the
- 33:28Speaker 4: move before.
- 33:28Speaker 3: The move they fired the guy who made the hire
- 33:31Speaker 3: right and then the.
- 33:32Speaker 4: New ad comes in and it's a lot easier for
- 33:35Speaker 4: the new ad to say hey this guy's not my
- 33:37Speaker 4: guy get him out of town.
- 33:38Speaker 8: This is the severe thunderstorm watch That's what this is.
- 33:42Speaker 8: And the warning is very, very soon to follow.
- 33:47Speaker 1: The guy, the only supporter you have in the entire
- 33:50Speaker 1: school is no longer there. Deion Sanders is head of
- 33:54Speaker 1: the Florida State. I think Taylor is going to be
- 33:55Speaker 1: right about this.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I do.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 4: It just makes too much sense. And you would assume that.
- 34:01Speaker 4: norvell's buyout is like 50 plus million dollars fsu's not
- 34:05Speaker 4: going to want to break the bank on their next
- 34:07Speaker 4: coaching hire dion going back to his alma mater shouldn't
- 34:11Speaker 4: necessarily do that especially like it's not like dion you're
- 34:15Speaker 4: going to be bidding against other schools for dion because
- 34:18Speaker 4: if another school wanted dion by now he wouldn't still
- 34:21Speaker 4: be at colorado.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Are you saying that dion would give them a hometown
- 34:23Speaker 1: discount is that what you're kind of saying Not so.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Much a hometown discount because nothing about Deion Sanders gives
- 34:29Speaker 4: off that he's going to give anybody a hometown discount. No,
- 34:31Speaker 4: but you get him at market value at the very least.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I think he might give them an actual hometown discount
- 34:37Speaker 1: because Deion Sanders has money. I think people are surprised
- 34:41Speaker 1: just how seriously Deion is taking the coaching thing. I
- 34:43Speaker 1: think at first everyone thought he was in it for
- 34:45Speaker 1: his son, and he has proven that that was not
- 34:48Speaker 1: the only reason he was doing this.
- 34:49Speaker 3: He loves to coach.
- 34:51Speaker 1: And why not coach at Florida State?
- 34:53Speaker 3: He would be the perfect coach for Florida State.
- 34:56Speaker 5: He would be. Yeah, Mikey.
- 34:57Speaker 6: Yeah, but you don't need a hometown discount. You just
- 35:00Speaker 6: kind of have to match what Colorado is paying.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:02Speaker 6: And then it's like, well, would you rather make this
- 35:04Speaker 6: much money in Colorado or Florida State?
- 35:07Speaker 5: And there's your answer. Right.
- 35:08Speaker 4: The mistake Florida State can't make is the mistake that
- 35:11Speaker 4: North Carolina make. No, not by hiring Bill Belichick. But
- 35:15Speaker 4: when you look at the contract.
- 35:16Speaker 5: Mike Lombardi.
- 35:17Speaker 4: No disaster i mean two-part disaster only three and a
- 35:22Speaker 4: half point underdog against clemson on the road this week i.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Tell they're better i mean you have to get belichick
- 35:26Speaker 1: credit the carolina is better this.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Year yes but the mistake that north carolina made is
- 35:31Speaker 4: when you look at bill belichick's contract and you slot
- 35:34Speaker 4: it against other college football coaches the results you're getting
- 35:37Speaker 4: are nowhere near a top 10 paid coach in college
- 35:40Speaker 4: football but that's what they paid belichick to be at
- 35:43Speaker 4: North Carolina. And you're looking around at the landscape of
- 35:46Speaker 4: college football, like who was North Carolina bidding against for
- 35:49Speaker 4: bill Belichick to come back where you had, you feel
- 35:52Speaker 4: like you had to give them, you know, 10 plus
- 35:54Speaker 4: million dollars a year to coach.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I'd like to get the guy who's supposed to be
- 35:57Speaker 1: walking to Nissan stadium on the show.
- 36:00Speaker 4: Can we get, no, cause he's also doing this pivot
- 36:03Speaker 4: now where he's like, I'll donate money to charity instead.
- 36:06Speaker 4: And it's like, he said he would donate a hundred
- 36:09Speaker 4: dollars for every point that jet scored and if they
- 36:12Speaker 4: beat the Titans, which is $ 2, 300, a good amount of
- 36:15Speaker 4: money to go into charity, but also, like, get your walk.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Use some of that money to get some walking shoes, buddy.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Would you walk from New York to Tennessee if it
- 36:23Speaker 1: meant you didn't have to part with $ 2, 300?
- 36:24Speaker 3: That's a good chunk of change.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I mean, what, you would fork up the $ 2, 300? I
- 36:32Speaker 1: wouldn't make a stupid claim. That walk is like eight days.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I understand that, Mikey, but it was the Jets.
- 36:45Speaker 5: You had no way of knowing.
- 36:48Speaker 4: If North Carolina loses to Duke and basketball, I'll walk
- 36:50Speaker 4: from UNC to Duke.
- 36:52Speaker 3: It's a mile. You guys play that open. I went
- 36:56Speaker 3: five and one. Still, you guys this week. I mean.
- 37:01Speaker 5: How'd you do in college?
- 37:02Speaker 3: Not so well.
- 37:04Speaker 4: And what was your loss in the NFL?
- 37:05Speaker 3: The Chargers.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Oh.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Taylor set that up perfectly. Sal, your thoughts on Justin Herbert,
- 37:13Speaker 1: who has been a topic of discussion here on God
- 37:19Speaker 1: Bless Football.
- 37:20Speaker 3: We're all tired of him.
- 37:21Speaker 1: We're sick of everyone telling us how great he is
- 37:23Speaker 1: heading into every NFL season.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Sal? The floor is yours.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Okay, I appreciate that.
- 37:29Speaker 11: Thank you, guys.
- 37:30Speaker 5: First, let me preface this by.
- 37:31Speaker 11: Saying I'm really mad at myself.
- 37:34Speaker 7: So I'm going to say some things that are not
- 37:36Speaker 7: too kind to Justin Herbert here, but really it's more
- 37:39Speaker 7: mad at myself for getting in a bed with the
- 37:42Speaker 7: lousy Chargers and Herbert who do the.
- 37:44Speaker 11: Same thing every single year.
- 37:48Speaker 7: Now, I wanted to ignore Herbert and say because of Harbaugh,
- 37:54Speaker 7: I hate picking favorites. whether it be in a survivor pool,
- 37:57Speaker 7: whether it be the spread, whatever. I never pick favorites.
- 38:00Speaker 7: But week one, I'm like, ah, I like the Chargers
- 38:02Speaker 7: because of Harbaugh. How are they going to lose to
- 38:04Speaker 7: the Cardinals? They were one of the worst teams last year.
- 38:07Speaker 5: And then you.
- 38:07Speaker 7: Watch the game, and you see Jacoby Brissett significantly outplaying big,
- 38:12Speaker 7: bad Justin Herbert, who can't move and is eight feet
- 38:17Speaker 7: tall and yet still throws the ball directly into the
- 38:19Speaker 7: defensive lineman's hands.
- 38:21Speaker 5: What is wrong with this guy? I don't know. I
- 38:24Speaker 5: don't understand. But enough about Justin Herbert.
- 38:27Speaker 7: I think if Harbaugh wants to win, he's going to
- 38:28Speaker 7: have to find himself another quarterback in Los Angeles.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Really?
- 38:32Speaker 1: And now Herbert's out of excuses because Mike McDaniel was
- 38:34Speaker 1: the guy who was going to boost him up.
- 38:36Speaker 3: And Mike McDaniel appears.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I love doing this. They played one game. A single game.
- 38:41Speaker 1: And maybe Mike McDaniel will do that, but I don't care.
- 38:44Speaker 1: That's how fans react. We react based off of one week,
- 38:47Speaker 1: and I'll do the same thing next week. And if
- 38:49Speaker 1: he has a great game next week, perhaps I'll say
- 38:51Speaker 1: he's figured it out. But as of today, Justin Herbert,
- 38:54Speaker 1: for me, I'm with you, Sal, the most overrated quarterback
- 38:56Speaker 1: in the NFL.
- 38:57Speaker 7: But it's not just one week with him. With McDaniels, yes.
- 39:00Speaker 7: And I would expect the offense to be better, running
- 39:02Speaker 7: the football, all those different things. They'll play a much— I
- 39:05Speaker 7: would hope. I mean, they played a lousy game. It
- 39:07Speaker 7: wasn't just him. They've got to clean some things up,
- 39:09Speaker 7: and I trust Harbaugh and his staff to do that.
- 39:11Speaker 7: But with Herbert, too, even when he's at his best,
- 39:13Speaker 7: there's something off there with this guy. I don't know
- 39:17Speaker 7: what it is exactly. He's got the physical traits. I
- 39:20Speaker 7: don't think we're ever going to see him turn into,
- 39:22Speaker 7: let's say, Matthew Stafford. I don't think that's happening with Herbert.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Yes. You're right about the physical traits.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Like if you put all the quarterbacks in a room
- 39:29Speaker 1: and just ask like a gm or coach hey go
- 39:32Speaker 1: just based on physical appearance go choose your quarterback for
- 39:35Speaker 1: the next 10 years a lot of those guys are
- 39:37Speaker 1: walking out with justin herbert because he looks the part
- 39:40Speaker 1: there's no doubt about it what do you have tell
- 39:42Speaker 1: it Sal, I was.
- 39:43Speaker 4: Just going to ask you, how do you feel about
- 39:44Speaker 4: this headline from two days ago? It was Jim Harbaugh,
- 39:46Speaker 4: and he said, Justin Herbert will be remembered as the
- 39:50Speaker 4: greatest quarterback ever.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 11: He's clearly trying to gas up his own guy.
- 39:56Speaker 7: Look, Harbaugh, he's going to attach his wagon to Justin Herbert?
- 40:01Speaker 7: He's going to be looking for another— he' ll be going back
- 40:03Speaker 7: to Michigan— if that's going to be the case.
- 40:05Speaker 5: They cannot win with Justin Herbert. Enough.
- 40:08Speaker 7: It's year two with Harbaugh there, right, with the Chargers.
- 40:11Speaker 7: He should be better than what he seemed. Is it
- 40:13Speaker 7: year two or is it year three? I get them
- 40:14Speaker 7: all mixed up. But either way, he should be better
- 40:16Speaker 7: by now.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Harbaugh and Herbert. They should both be better by now.
- 40:20Speaker 7: Well, I still love Harbaugh, Stu, but if he's going
- 40:24Speaker 7: to tell us with a straight face that Herbert is
- 40:26Speaker 7: that good, this guy won games with Colin Kaepernick years ago.
- 40:30Speaker 7: You're telling me Justin Herbert can't do anything good here?
- 40:34Speaker 7: It's been too long. He's got to be better than
- 40:36Speaker 7: what he's been. With the tools that he possesses, there's
- 40:39Speaker 7: no reason for the Chargers to continue to play the
- 40:41Speaker 7: same type games. over and over again he's got a
- 40:44Speaker 7: cannon he's a physical specimen as far as being the
- 40:47Speaker 7: size and the strength and all that stuff he he
- 40:49Speaker 7: just is i don't i just don't think he's very
- 40:51Speaker 7: good i think he's the most overrated quarterback that we've
- 40:54Speaker 7: seen in a while Yeah, this is.
- 40:56Speaker 4: Year three for Harbaugh. They went 11-6 2024, and then
- 41:00Speaker 4: 11-6 2025. So when's the next step being taken?
- 41:04Speaker 5: Like, it's the same stuff.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Yes, well, it's not going to be taken if Justin
- 41:07Speaker 1: Herbert's his quarterback, is what you're saying, right? He needs
- 41:11Speaker 1: to find a new one. How exactly are they going
- 41:15Speaker 1: to find a new one? They just signed Herbert to
- 41:17Speaker 1: a big deal. Like, he's stuck with them. They're saddled together.
- 41:20Speaker 3: That's it. It's a problem.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Now, I trust Harbaugh more than I would trust myself to,
- 41:25Speaker 7: you know, notice a good football player or not. But
- 41:28Speaker 7: just the way that he performs, he's got, okay, he
- 41:32Speaker 7: may have the tools.
- 41:33Speaker 5: And he may have a cannon. How about a little
- 41:34Speaker 5: bit of touch, dude?
- 41:36Speaker 7: He's throwing laser beams all over the field.
- 41:38Speaker 3: There's zero.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Taylor, you're a receiver. There's zero touch there.
- 41:42Speaker 11: There seems to be zero feel for the game. Just
- 41:45Speaker 11: something is off with this guy.
- 41:47Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 41:48Speaker 6: It seems to me you mentioned like Harbaugh knows what
- 41:51Speaker 6: he's looking at better than we do. It seems to
- 41:53Speaker 6: me like everybody who's supposed to be in the know
- 41:56Speaker 6: loves Justin Herbert.
- 41:57Speaker 5: But every time we watch it, we're like, this is
- 41:59Speaker 5: what it is.
- 42:00Speaker 6: This is what where everybody's fawning over who's supposed to
- 42:03Speaker 6: know what they're looking at.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Because every time I watch Justin Herbert, I'm.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Like, he's OK.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Right. Same with Trevor Lawrence. I put them in the
- 42:10Speaker 5: same category where they get.
- 42:11Speaker 6: Oh, you have to see the way he releases the
- 42:13Speaker 6: ball and everything he sees.
- 42:16Speaker 5: But it never translates. It never translates to wins on
- 42:19Speaker 5: the field like that.
- 42:20Speaker 7: But you could be seeing Lawrence now, and I'm not
- 42:22Speaker 7: going to overreact to week one, but last year with
- 42:24Speaker 7: Liam Cohen, they were very good. And then in week
- 42:27Speaker 7: one this year, an eye-opening performance. When Lawrence was coming out,
- 42:32Speaker 7: it was supposed to be, oh, my God, he's going
- 42:33Speaker 7: to be the next best thing since Peyton Manning. It
- 42:35Speaker 7: didn't happen. But now we're seeing the progression. Where is
- 42:38Speaker 7: the progression with Justin Herbert?
- 42:40Speaker 4: The opposite end of that spectrum that you just mentioned, Mikey,
- 42:43Speaker 4: where everybody props up Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence, the
- 42:48Speaker 4: opposite end of that is Jalen Hurts because Jalen Hurts,
- 42:51Speaker 4: people pick apart his game left and right.
- 42:54Speaker 5: I don't.
- 42:54Speaker 4: And then every time you watch the Eagles, it's like, oh, wait,
- 42:57Speaker 4: the Eagles just won and Jalen Hurts is winning another
- 43:00Speaker 4: Super Bowl.
- 43:01Speaker 3: All he does is win.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Listen, one day I'll get to side-by-side comparisons of the
- 43:06Speaker 1: last four years of Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes.
- 43:08Speaker 2: I will.
- 43:08Speaker 3: I'll get to it.
- 43:09Speaker 1: And show you that Jalen Hurts has been a better
- 43:11Speaker 1: quarterback than Patrick Mahomes over the last four seasons in
- 43:15Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Or you guys can look it up yourselves and save
- 43:18Speaker 3: me the work.
- 43:18Speaker 5: I mean... I'm good.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Dan, where are you on Jalen Hurts? He's a winner,
- 43:25Speaker 1: that guy. I would love for that guy to be
- 43:27Speaker 1: my quarterback. Although, if he were the Jets quarterback, we'd
- 43:29Speaker 1: be losers. Jalen Hurts, I'm fine with. He's a winner.
- 43:35Speaker 8: I don't know if they're going to win big this year,
- 43:39Speaker 8: but he does win football games. Yesterday, three touchdown passes.
- 43:42Speaker 3: I think he.
- 43:43Speaker 8: Just, you know, clipped 200 yards in what he did.
- 43:47Speaker 8: But when they needed a score to answer after what
- 43:49Speaker 8: Washington did, finds Dallas Goddard, and the rest is history.
- 43:52Speaker 8: So it didn't look like they missed A.J. Brown yesterday.
- 43:55Speaker 8: So I have no problems with Jalen Hurts. I've never
- 43:57Speaker 8: had really problems with Jalen Hurts.
- 43:59Speaker 3: The problem that I would have, though. How about that?
- 44:02Speaker 7: If you move, Stu, you gave me this one before,
- 44:05Speaker 7: but if you put what we're talking about, Cam Ward
- 44:07Speaker 7: and Patrick Mahomes or whatever it was, if you put
- 44:09Speaker 7: Jalen Hurts on the Titans or the Browns or whatever,
- 44:14Speaker 7: is he going to elevate them the way that the
- 44:17Speaker 7: great quarterbacks would elevate a franchise?
- 44:20Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 44:21Speaker 1: It's a great question. Probably not. I mean, they have
- 44:24Speaker 1: a great defense, great offensive line, running game with Saquon Barkley.
- 44:28Speaker 1: They've had wide receivers. They still have wide receivers. I'm
- 44:32Speaker 1: not certain if you put Hurts on a team like
- 44:33Speaker 1: the Titans that the Titans automatically become good.
- 44:36Speaker 3: In fact, my guess is no.
- 44:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's kind of the point.
- 44:40Speaker 7: I mean, maybe the Titans are an extreme, but even
- 44:42Speaker 7: if you put him on a mediocre team, would.
- 44:44Speaker 11: He have as much success? And I'm not trying to
- 44:46Speaker 11: knock hurts.
- 44:46Speaker 5: I like him. I just don't. I've never watched him
- 44:50Speaker 5: once and thought to myself, wow.
- 44:52Speaker 7: This guy is that type level where he's done that
- 44:55Speaker 7: type winning.
- 44:56Speaker 5: But I think he's that type level.
- 44:58Speaker 1: But that's on us. I mean, he's outplayed Patrick Mahomes
- 45:00Speaker 1: in not one but two Super Bowls.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I mean, he did.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Right, but again, don't you think that that's more what's
- 45:05Speaker 7: around him as opposed to him versus Mahomes?
- 45:09Speaker 5: Perhaps.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Mahomes had some good people around him as well. And listen,
- 45:13Speaker 1: Mahomes won one of those games. I'm just saying Hurts
- 45:15Speaker 1: outplayed him in that game.
- 45:17Speaker 3: What do you have, Dan?
- 45:17Speaker 8: Are the Philadelphia Eagles unstoppable if Justin Herbert's their quarterback?
- 45:22Speaker 3: Oh, God. Are the Falcons unstoppable if Justin Herbert's the quarterback?
- 45:25Speaker 8: The reason I say that is because, listen, I think
- 45:29Speaker 8: that there's only a certain amount of people that we're
- 45:30Speaker 8: going to look at and talk about, like the greatness
- 45:33Speaker 8: of quarterbacks. I don't think that Jalen Hurts is one
- 45:35Speaker 8: of those guys. I think he works for Philadelphia and, yeah,
- 45:38Speaker 8: has probably the best offensive line any team in the
- 45:40Speaker 8: NFL has had over the last five years or whatever
- 45:43Speaker 8: it's been. So there are obviously pluses with it. But
- 45:46Speaker 8: I think Justin Herbert, to kind of go back to
- 45:48Speaker 8: that conversation, we're looking at Justin Herbert as that quarterback
- 45:53Speaker 8: that is a generational or one that we're going to
- 45:56Speaker 8: talk about like we did with Breeze, Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger, Rivers.
- 46:00Speaker 8: And he's not even to that point just yet. I
- 46:03Speaker 8: don't know if we can put Jalen Hurts or if
- 46:04Speaker 8: we ever will put him in that quarterback conversation. you know,
- 46:08Speaker 8: with some of the greats. But I feel like Justin
- 46:10Speaker 8: Herbert felt like he was being fast-tracked to that conversation
- 46:13Speaker 8: and has been stuck in neutral for, like, the last
- 46:16Speaker 8: couple of years.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 46:17Speaker 4: So, Dan, I don't know how Justin Herbert would look
- 46:19Speaker 4: on the Eagles, but what I do know is that
- 46:22Speaker 4: Dan Orlovsky would be caping up for Justin Herbert, telling
- 46:24Speaker 4: us that it was going to be the greatest thing
- 46:26Speaker 4: he's ever seen since sliced bread.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Orlovsky and Harbaugh.
- 46:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and the second they lose, it's like, oh, the
- 46:33Speaker 4: Eagles offensive line is actually not as good as you
- 46:35Speaker 4: think they are.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Yes, Al.
- 46:39Speaker 7: No, what we talk about, well, was Cam Ward or
- 46:41Speaker 7: is Cam Ward in a position to succeed? I do
- 46:43Speaker 7: believe Herbert now with Harbaugh, especially with McDaniels, he is
- 46:49Speaker 7: in a position to But three years now, or this
- 46:53Speaker 7: is year three, as you said before, with him under Harbaugh, I.
- 46:57Speaker 5: Just don't see it. I need to see. I see
- 47:00Speaker 5: a strong arm. I see a big body.
- 47:03Speaker 7: I don't see a winning quarterback that can make big throws,
- 47:07Speaker 7: that can put touch on the football when needed. I
- 47:10Speaker 7: just don't see it from Herbert. And when you compare that,
- 47:13Speaker 7: it's all relative to the expectations. The expectations were through
- 47:15Speaker 7: the roof for him. I'm not even seeing a mediocre
- 47:18Speaker 7: quarterback with Justin Herbert at this point.
- 47:20Speaker 1: All right, let's get to Taylor's winners and losers from
- 47:23Speaker 1: a week one here in the NFL.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Give me the music. How about that? What do you got, Taylor?
- 47:34Speaker 5: My first winner.
- 47:36Speaker 4: Josh Allen, because I don't think we're talking enough today
- 47:39Speaker 4: about how much he got bailed out with Kamari Lasseter
- 47:43Speaker 4: dropping that pick in the end zone where Josh Allen
- 47:45Speaker 4: throws that ball up and everybody's like, whoa, that's the
- 47:48Speaker 4: only thing you can't do in that situation.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yes, it reminded me a few years ago, if you
- 47:52Speaker 1: remember Stafford on his Super Bowl run, just threw a
- 47:56Speaker 1: duck up at the air and someone on Tampa should
- 47:59Speaker 1: have picked.
- 47:59Speaker 3: It off and the game would have been over and
- 48:01Speaker 3: Stafford never wins a Super Bowl. He dropped it. We
- 48:03Speaker 3: forget those plays all the time, man.
- 48:06Speaker 5: I know that they're professionals and I know they always
- 48:08Speaker 5: do that. Oh, we'll pick each other up. And it's
- 48:10Speaker 5: not about one guy. It's one flight. But if you're
- 48:13Speaker 5: on the Texans, you got to be looking at Lassiter
- 48:14Speaker 5: different today, right? He was terrible. You got to just
- 48:16Speaker 5: be looking at him side.
- 48:17Speaker 6: I'd just be like, you know, you cost us the game.
- 48:22Speaker 3: What exactly are you saying here? That the Texans are
- 48:26Speaker 3: looking at him now?
- 48:26Speaker 6: He's probably the most hated person in the locker room
- 48:29Speaker 6: right now, and nobody will say it because they're all
- 48:31Speaker 6: going to be good professionals and good teammates, but everybody.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Hates him tonight.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Taylor, put it on the poll. Do the Texans secretly
- 48:36Speaker 1: and quietly hate Lassiter?
- 48:39Speaker 4: My biggest loser today. father time derrick henry is absolutely
- 48:45Speaker 4: whooping father time right now derrick henry finishes 24 carries
- 48:49Speaker 4: 144 yards and three.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Touchdowns father time is undefeated not anymore not anymore.
- 48:54Speaker 7: How old is he henry he's always looked old but
- 48:57Speaker 7: he's 32 but in running back years that's like yeah
- 49:00Speaker 7: 65 yeah right.
- 49:01Speaker 6: Yeah it's not like he doesn't have low mileage on
- 49:04Speaker 6: those 32 years is he any years.
- 49:05Speaker 5: Old George years.
- 49:09Speaker 4: He's my Honda civic with 300,000 miles on it. Chugging along.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Is he third all time and touchdowns that for running
- 49:16Speaker 1: backs third, I think Derek Edward.
- 49:19Speaker 4: My next winner. We're staying in the AFC North, the bangles.
- 49:23Speaker 4: I think the bangles have a complete roster.
- 49:25Speaker 7: Oh, do you say that finally the defense with sexy decks?
- 49:30Speaker 4: Yeah. I like boy Moffay that they got from the Seahawks.
- 49:34Speaker 4: A lot of guys that they got this off season
- 49:36Speaker 4: made an instant impact in week one.
- 49:38Speaker 5: Yeah. Taylor, this is just for you, and we can
- 49:41Speaker 5: put it on the poll if you want.
- 49:42Speaker 6: Will Stugatz's head explode if it's Joe Burrow versus Caleb
- 49:45Speaker 6: Williams in the Super Bowl?
- 49:46Speaker 5: Oh, that's a win-win.
- 49:47Speaker 3: It really is. I take it over the Jets.
- 49:51Speaker 4: They'll be floating that week at Radio Row.
- 49:55Speaker 5: My two guys.
- 49:58Speaker 4: My next biggest loser, Stefan Diggs.
- 50:03Speaker 8: Ah.
- 50:04Speaker 4: Now, Stefan Diggs has a redemption where he scores a
- 50:09Speaker 4: touchdown and they're down by two. And I don't think
- 50:13Speaker 4: this cost them the game because there was so much
- 50:15Speaker 4: game left after it. But Stefan Diggs scoring and then
- 50:19Speaker 4: doing the celebration where he goes and hugs the goalposts
- 50:22Speaker 4: and immediately getting flagged, it's like... We brought you here
- 50:26Speaker 4: to the commanders to kind of be the adult in
- 50:28Speaker 4: the room at the receiver position.
- 50:29Speaker 3: He never is.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 4: You can't, you can't bring Stefan Diggs.
- 50:33Speaker 5: When you need an adult in the room.
- 50:36Speaker 6: Just remember the commanders were trying to get Brandon Ayuk
- 50:39Speaker 6: and they'd settled for Stefan Diggs.
- 50:41Speaker 5: Maybe they don't know what a, what an adult in
- 50:43Speaker 5: the room.
- 50:45Speaker 7: What an idiotic, selfish penalty by Diggs. But is anybody surprised?
- 50:50Speaker 7: A clear situation where you need to go for two,
- 50:52Speaker 7: and he's selfishly hugging the pole, sliding down it like
- 50:55Speaker 7: a fire pole. I mean, come on.
- 50:56Speaker 4: And he was walking back to the sideline after like, yeah,
- 50:59Speaker 4: but the touchdown was pretty cool.
- 51:00Speaker 5: Guys, right?
- 51:00Speaker 3: That's all he cares about.
- 51:05Speaker 5: My next winner. One more winner, one more loser.
- 51:07Speaker 3: All right.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Last winner, Justin Jefferson. Eight catches, 92 yards, two touchdowns.
- 51:15Speaker 4: It's always a mess, that Minnesota quarterback room.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Yep.
- 51:18Speaker 4: But every once in a while, Justin Jefferson kind of
- 51:20Speaker 4: reminds everybody, like, don't forget about me when you're talking
- 51:23Speaker 4: about who's the best wide receiver.
- 51:25Speaker 5: In the NFL.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Yep.
- 51:25Speaker 3: He made Carson Wentz look good.
- 51:27Speaker 5: He did. My last loser.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Yep. Browns fans that game was over yes within the
- 51:39Speaker 4: first two drives and it's like all Browns fans got
- 51:42Speaker 4: into or went into week one saying we know what
- 51:44Speaker 4: this team is going to be we know what Deshaun
- 51:46Speaker 4: Watson's going to look like week one why are we
- 51:48Speaker 4: even playing Deshaun Watson and the Browns are like no
- 51:50Speaker 4: this is Deshaun Watson's redemption story oh so much for
- 51:53Speaker 4: that redemption story Shador Sanders is going to be starting
- 51:55Speaker 4: by week three.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Right but they're getting Deshaun starts over with before they
- 51:58Speaker 3: go home I mean.
- 51:58Speaker 11: It's And you hear Monken today doubling.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Down on it.
- 52:02Speaker 11: My God, I do feel bad for Browns fans.
- 52:04Speaker 5: There is no hope.
- 52:06Speaker 7: With that guy as the head coach sticking with that
- 52:08Speaker 7: guy as the quarterback, that's a wrap on this year
- 52:10Speaker 7: and probably next year too.
- 52:12Speaker 3: You wait your entire life to get a head coaching
- 52:14Speaker 3: job and you put your trust into Sean Watson. Good
- 52:18Speaker 3: decision like five years ago. Yeah, Mikey.
- 52:21Speaker 6: If you want to beat the traffic coming home from
- 52:23Speaker 6: a Browns stadium, you have to stay the whole game.
- 52:25Speaker 5: Is that how you beat the traffic?
- 52:28Speaker 3: Put it on the poll.
- 52:30Speaker 1: To beat the traffic in Cleveland after a Browns game,
- 52:33Speaker 1: do you have to stay until the final whistle?
- 52:37Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 52:40Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m.
- 52:43Speaker 5: Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific.
- 52:46Speaker 1: We'll get to Sherman Oaks and Dan Byer in the
- 52:48Speaker 1: update here in just a second. Taylor, you swore to
- 52:52Speaker 1: us that you would not watch a second of the
- 52:54Speaker 1: Falcons-Steelers game because Cooper Rush was playing quarterback in that game.
- 52:58Speaker 1: And it seems like the Falcons, who have a very
- 53:00Speaker 1: talented team, no one wants to play quarterback for them.
- 53:03Speaker 1: But did you watch any of that game, the Falcons
- 53:05Speaker 1: and Steelers?
- 53:06Speaker 5: No, I kept my word.
- 53:07Speaker 4: I was going to remain steadfast that I was not
- 53:09Speaker 4: turning that game on. I was not going to waste
- 53:11Speaker 4: a second of trying to find my remote and figuring
- 53:14Speaker 4: out putting on that Steelers-Falcons game.
- 53:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 4: I got my fix when I'm watching the Jets-Titans game
- 53:21Speaker 4: on my one-screen TV of just the occasional cut-in of B.
- 53:26Speaker 4: John Robinson doing something breathtaking.
- 53:30Speaker 3: He's on my fantasy team. The Falcons are going to
- 53:32Speaker 3: kill that poor man.
- 53:33Speaker 4: He's good for one 50-plus-yard play every game.
- 53:37Speaker 5: Which is awesome.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Yes, he had a touchdown yesterday. They lost, but he
- 53:42Speaker 1: did enough for me. Cooper Rush is bad, huh, Sal?
- 53:47Speaker 3: Dude. Okay.
- 53:49Speaker 7: Now, not only— I just want another preface here from me.
- 53:53Speaker 7: Not only did I grow up a Falcons fan. I
- 53:55Speaker 7: really don't even care that much about them anymore since
- 53:57Speaker 7: the Super Bowl. But I believed— That the public was
- 54:01Speaker 7: overvaluing in this particular game the Steelers and minimizing Atlanta
- 54:05Speaker 7: and their weapons. And like Cooper Rush, I'd be lying
- 54:08Speaker 7: if I said I really watched him play a lot.
- 54:10Speaker 7: But like I saw that he won some games as
- 54:11Speaker 7: a backup with the Cowboys, won some games as a
- 54:14Speaker 7: backup with the Ravens. And I'm like, well, how bad
- 54:15Speaker 7: can this guy be? Tua's been awful. Maybe it's going
- 54:18Speaker 7: to be an upgrade. And then I made the mistake
- 54:21Speaker 7: on Mike Taylor where I watched this game.
- 54:24Speaker 10: It was part of the four box.
- 54:26Speaker 7: I had this game on. I was locked in. I
- 54:28Speaker 7: actually bet on the stupid Atlanta Falcons. Plus six and
- 54:31Speaker 7: a half, money line, whatever. This guy, Cooper Rush, played
- 54:36Speaker 7: the worst game I have ever seen. Like I said before,
- 54:39Speaker 7: Herbert stinks. It's relative.
- 54:41Speaker 5: Herbert stinks, but like Cooper Rush.
- 54:43Speaker 7: Doesn't belong anywhere near an NFL football field. He basically
- 54:48Speaker 7: was handing the ball off to TJ Watt the entire game.
- 54:51Speaker 7: They missed two field goals. He threw two picks. They
- 54:53Speaker 7: still should have beaten the Steelers.
- 54:55Speaker 5: Taylor, I'm with you.
- 54:56Speaker 7: If Cooper rushes the quarterback again next week, I am
- 54:59Speaker 7: not watching the Falcons anymore until they get a real
- 55:01Speaker 7: quarterback in there.
- 55:03Speaker 1: This is a take that seems like it's drenched in
- 55:05Speaker 1: gambling losses. I mean, just soaked in gambling losses. I mean,
- 55:08Speaker 1: no one's this angry about Cooper Rush unless they were
- 55:11Speaker 1: dumb enough about the Falcons yesterday.
- 55:13Speaker 6: Yeah, Sal put on the sheet, Cooper Rush is the
- 55:16Speaker 6: worst quarterback I've ever seen. And I'm like, did we
- 55:18Speaker 6: not live in a word with Trevor Simeon or Nathan Peterman?
- 55:22Speaker 6: And I'm sitting there going like, why would he say
- 55:24Speaker 6: Cooper Rush was that bad?
- 55:25Speaker 5: And then I hear his take and I'm like, oh,
- 55:27Speaker 5: it's gambling losses too.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Got it.
- 55:28Speaker 5: All right.
- 55:30Speaker 1: He's the most recent quarterback that costs sound money.
- 55:33Speaker 5: No.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Sal, is this Cooper rushes or is this the Falcons
- 55:38Speaker 4: decision-makers fault? Because you went into a season with an
- 55:42Speaker 4: injury prone to an injury prone, Michael Pennix. And then
- 55:46Speaker 4: week one shows up and it's like, Where, where's Tua?
- 55:48Speaker 4: Where's Michael Penix? Oh, the two injury prone quarterbacks are injured.
- 55:52Speaker 4: And then you have Cooper Rush a couple of days
- 55:53Speaker 4: before the game where they're saying he's experiencing back spasm.
- 55:56Speaker 4: And it's like, oh man, you're not even going to
- 55:58Speaker 4: get a hundred percent Cooper Rush.
- 56:00Speaker 7: They should have then just went with whoever the emergency
- 56:02Speaker 7: quarterback was and did the wildcat.
- 56:05Speaker 5: They would have worked. What does Matt Ryan think? And
- 56:07Speaker 5: I love Matty Ice. He's now running the show down there.
- 56:09Speaker 7: How do you go from spending a gazillion dollars on
- 56:13Speaker 7: Kirk Cousins, picking Michael Penix in the first round, bringing
- 56:17Speaker 7: in Tua to have Cooper freaking rush starting week one
- 56:22Speaker 7: of a new NFL season? And it's not just because
- 56:24Speaker 7: I lost the bet or was wrong about the pick
- 56:25Speaker 7: or I'm a Falcon fan. Legitimately, this guy could not
- 56:29Speaker 7: make a throw. He kept throwing it to the Steelers.
- 56:33Speaker 7: They should have had more interceptions. He was an embarrassment.
- 56:36Speaker 7: I've seen awful quarterback play in my life, whether it's
- 56:39Speaker 7: with the Jets, the Giants, the Falcons, you name it.
- 56:42Speaker 7: This was beyond— I can't believe that they put him in
- 56:47Speaker 7: a position to take the field in an NFL game.
- 56:50Speaker 3: What a bad beat. Yeah, Dan.
- 56:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:52Speaker 8: If he could throw, his name would be Cooper Pass.
- 56:56Speaker 3: There you go. What? He got it for that?
- 56:58Speaker 8: That was good. Great job.
- 57:03Speaker 3: You feel good about that?
- 57:05Speaker 8: Just a drop Sam likes to play. Way too much,
- 57:08Speaker 8: by the way, on my dad. I love it.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Speaking of pass, I'm going to pass it to you
- 57:14Speaker 1: in Sherman Oaks. Dan Beyer with a sports update.
- 57:17Speaker 8: I do want to add one thing to Taylor's wins
- 57:19Speaker 8: and losses.
- 57:19Speaker 5: For the weekend.
- 57:20Speaker 8: How about Carolina when it's mid 90s on artificial surface?
- 57:25Speaker 8: They're like, yeah, we'll wear our black pants and black
- 57:27Speaker 8: helmet and dark blue jerseys.
- 57:29Speaker 3: My goodness.
- 57:30Speaker 8: Like every NFL team. I was like, maybe we'll wear
- 57:32Speaker 8: white week one because it's going to be hot.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Not Carolina.
- 57:36Speaker 8: Not when you're playing in an oven in Charlotte. Bears
- 57:38Speaker 8: put up 59 on them.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Uh taylor you see what uh sark had to say
- 57:42Speaker 1: by the way well since we were talking about him
- 57:44Speaker 1: earlier what'd he say ohio state should be commended for
- 57:47Speaker 1: playing texas.
- 57:48Speaker 12: I mean because they just they all stick to the
- 57:52Speaker 12: same script like ryan day comes out today and was
- 57:55Speaker 12: like oh you don't want us to play texas we're
- 57:57Speaker 12: fine playing youngstown state if that's what people really want.
- 58:01Speaker 5: Nope no apology in there stew to holly row that's
- 58:03Speaker 5: what i care.
- 58:04Speaker 3: About No, or Laura Rutledge. No apologies.
- 58:07Speaker 1: He blew off two sideline reports. He has an obligation
- 58:10Speaker 1: to do it. You guys are right. Everyone has a
- 58:12Speaker 1: right to be upset over Sork not doing that. He
- 58:15Speaker 1: has a media obligation. That's part of the deal. It's
- 58:18Speaker 1: why ESPN, ABC is paying so much money for the rights.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Part of the reason they want the games, but that's
- 58:23Speaker 1: just a perk of having the games, is you get
- 58:25Speaker 1: the coach coming off during halftime and after a big victory,
- 58:29Speaker 1: and he blew him off twice.
- 58:30Speaker 3: Bad job by Sork.
- 58:31Speaker 11: It was just rude to me. Now, back to that. Like,
- 58:34Speaker 11: don't we all know? Like, why does he got to
- 58:36Speaker 11: remind us?
- 58:37Speaker 7: Oh, well, credit to Ohio State. Like, we all know
- 58:40Speaker 7: Ohio State's good and Texas is good. I'd rather see
- 58:42Speaker 7: those games. And they're not going to be penalized to
- 58:44Speaker 7: the death penalty for losing a game, especially with the
- 58:47Speaker 7: playoff now. Like, what do they need to explain themselves for?
- 58:50Speaker 7: We could see it with our own eyes who they're playing.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I think what Sark is trying, he's laying the groundwork.
- 58:54Speaker 1: He's a big resume guy. That's what I'm saying.
- 58:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 58:58Speaker 1: No, but he's setting the groundwork for when he loses
- 59:00Speaker 1: three games, he still wants to make it to the playoff.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Oh, I got you. I got you.
- 59:04Speaker 5: Building up Ohio State, right.
- 59:06Speaker 4: Ohio State's loss this past weekend was better than any
- 59:09Speaker 4: other team's win. this past weekend. That's basically what Sark
- 59:12Speaker 4: is arguing.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yes. It's a good argument. I don't mind it. Like,
- 59:15Speaker 3: it's fair. Totally fair, right? I agree.
- 59:17Speaker 7: Who do Miami play? Like, look at some of the— what
- 59:19Speaker 7: about Georgia? Like, I'm not trying to minimize them, but
- 59:21Speaker 7: that's what college football is. You get 50-point spreads regularly
- 59:25Speaker 7: throughout the course. When you get a rare good game
- 59:27Speaker 7: like that, it's intriguing.
- 59:29Speaker 5: I'd rather that.
- 59:30Speaker 1: I was more impressed with that Ohio State loss than
- 59:33Speaker 1: I was with just about any win this weekend.
- 59:35Speaker 5: Seriously.
- 59:35Speaker 3: I mean, they were on the road in Texas.
- 59:37Speaker 1: I know they blew a lead, but they're on the
- 59:39Speaker 1: road against Texas, a very good football team. They lost
- 59:41Speaker 1: a very close game. And that's all Sark is saying.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Don't hold it against them because they scheduled us.
- 59:46Speaker 3: And that's it. And I agree.
- 59:48Speaker 4: Sal, I made a catastrophic mistake when it comes to
- 59:51Speaker 4: radio last week.
- 59:53Speaker 3: Yeah, he heard it.
- 59:54Speaker 5: I admitted, no.
- 59:56Speaker 3: Not that one? Not that one. A different one. Okay, sorry.
- 59:59Speaker 3: There's so many.
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: What I did, Sal, was I admitted I was wrong.
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: I watched the Oklahoma State-Tulsa game after Oklahoma State was
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: my darling in the preseason. And when they lose to Tulsa,
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: I came in here and I said, hand up, guys.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: I couldn't have been more wrong about this team. And
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: then by admitting I was so wrong, I sold all
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: my stocks on this Oklahoma State team.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Not your socks, your socks.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: I didn't sell my socks. I'm still wearing my socks.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: But I sold my stocks when it comes to this
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: Oklahoma State team. And then, of course, what happens? Oklahoma
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: State has arguably the win of the weekend upsetting Oregon
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: and Dan Lanning.
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: The mistake was not apologizing. The mistake was getting off
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: your original pick too soon. Like I was trying to
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: say last week, if you believe something, stick it out
- 1:00:48Speaker 7: a little bit longer.
- 1:00:49Speaker 11: And obviously you jumped off that bandwagon. Now you can't
- 1:00:51Speaker 11: get credit for it. There's no going back.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: No backsies.
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: Nope.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: Mike Gundy and them boys.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: Not Mike Gundy.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: It was the joke. I was shocked that he's still
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: not the Oklahoma State coach.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: I thought he would. Anyway, he did that, Sal, just
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: to get me to Dan Lanning. That's why he did it.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: He set me up to rip Dan Lanning because he
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: wants me to rip Dan Lanning because Dan Lanning's annoying.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Dan Lanning.
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: 90 minutes before kickoff.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: How about you stop palling around and having a chuckle
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: fest with Pat McAfee and the entire game day crew
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: and Nick Saban.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: And focus on the football game.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: He is sitting there. He's mic'd up for sound. He's
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: walking across the field. He's yucking it up with McAfee.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: He's got a football in his hand. And then McAfee,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: of course, because he has endless amounts of money, challenged
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: him to hit the goalpost with a football and he
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: would give $ 500, 000 to a charity. Now, I'm all for
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: raising money for a charity, but I'm also all for
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: a football coach focusing on the game that takes place
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: in 90 minutes. Not trying to hit a goal post
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: that once, not twice, but three separate times with McAfee
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: and the game day crew. Imagine if Dan Lanning walks
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: out on that field. And 90 minutes before kickoff, one
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: of his players is yucking it up with Pat McAfee,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: trying to raise money for charity and doing everything but
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: being focused on the opponent and the game that is
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: coming up in 90 minutes at Stillwater. That guy would
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: get ripped by Dan Lanning. And there's Dan Lanning out
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: there because no one could yell at him. There is
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Lanning out on the field, not focused on the opponent,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: not focused on his team, not focused on the game.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: He is focused on making Pat McAfee laugh.
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: Enough. Terrible.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Terrible job by Lanning.
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: Taylor, I feel good. Sue, that was great.
- 1:02:39Speaker 7: I just feel bad ripping a guy who's doing the
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: charitable thing.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Listen, you're making $ 10 million a year. By the way, McAfee, $ 500, 000.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Lanning tossed in an extra $ 50, 000. I mean, how about
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: just peel off a check for charity and focus on
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: the football game?
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: How does that sound?
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: So I've had one eye on Dan Lanning ever since
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: he got to Eugene, where everybody's praising him being the
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: next golden boy in college football. And his results leave
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: a lot to be desired. And I think I've just
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: come to the conclusion that Dan Lanning is the Nick
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Saban of Mike Norvell's.
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Can I make a confession to you guys?
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: You're live on national radio.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: You don't care about Oregon?
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: I had no idea who Dan Lanning was until I
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: looked it up. In the middle of that rant— I
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: was like, who the hell is Dan Lanning?
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:03:30Speaker 11: Oregon head coach.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Okay. Now, Mikey is putting his hand in his face
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: here because we're on national radio. No, I had to
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: learn this as well.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Sal grew up in an area where no one cares
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: about Dan Lanning. And I'm starting to wonder why I
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: care this much about Dan Lanning. I mean, the man
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: was raising a half million dollars for charity, and I'm sitting.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: Here ripping Dan Lanning.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: I mean, he did a good thing right up until
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: he lost Oklahoma State.
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: Would you have ripped him?
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: I'd be totally fine with it.
- 1:03:57Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: Good job by Dan.
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: What a good guy.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: I think there is a conversation to be have that
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: Dante Moore. skips the NFL draft last year because the
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: premise was basically, I don't want to go to the Jets.
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: Now it looks like Dante Moore is going to avoid
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: the first round entirely next year because everybody's having questions
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: about him. And I think there is a conversation to
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: be had that he loses his OC. His OC takes
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: the head coaching job at Kentucky. I think you can
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: have the conversation today. Should Dante Moore, if he didn't
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: want to go to the Jets, if he didn't, if
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: he would so foot down, I'm not going to the Jets.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: you should have at least considered going with your offensive
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: coordinator to Kentucky.
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: Stu, you said stop. Like that doesn't happen.
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: Like last year, preseason, we weren't talking about Nussmeyer or
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: Klubnick going top five and none of them went in
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: the first round. Like Dante Moore could legitimately fall to
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: the third, fourth and fifth round with how bad he's
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: been two weeks in.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: And then you add that the fact that he's saying
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: he's a quarterback who's suffering from anxiety. Like that's not
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: a quarterback I want coming to New York. I don't
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: want a quarterback who's worried about playing in Eugene, Oregon.
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: Coming to New York. This actually happens.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: That's totally fair.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: But I do trust Todd McShay, who says he's the
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: best quarterback in college football. Like, I trust his scouting.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: He said that three weeks ago.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Before those two games.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I understand that. And that could change, and maybe it
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: will as the season rolls on. But again, and I'm
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: sitting here and I'm overreacting to everything because it's fun
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: to do on a Monday after one week of NFL football.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: But they played three games.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: They've played three games. That's all I'm saying. Maybe he
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: will slip out. Maybe he will fall out of the
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: first round.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I have no idea. It's just three games, though.
- 1:05:37Speaker 7: They change all the time. Remember Drew Aller a couple
- 1:05:39Speaker 7: years ago was like, oh, my God.
- 1:05:42Speaker 8: Drew Aller.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: I can't wait to get my hands on him.
- 1:05:44Speaker 11: And then he stays in college the next year.
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: It's like.
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: You can't find him. Where is Drew Aller? So those
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: things change so quickly. He had a chance last year,
- 1:05:53Speaker 7: and he didn't want it. And now he's got to
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: pay the consequences. You gamble on yourself or whatever the
- 1:05:58Speaker 7: proper term there is with college kids, and you know what?
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: Now he may pay the price.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: Who's the quarterback?
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: When you think of quarterbacks who stayed one year too long,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I think of Matt Leinart. I know they went to
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: the championship game. They were going for a three-peat. But
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Matt Leinart, if he left after his junior year, was
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: going to be a top five pick in the draft.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: He stayed. He didn't have a great year. They had
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: a great year. I know.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: But, Mikey, that's a big difference between top three and 13.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I mean... Just last.
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: Year, Nussmeyer, Klubnick, both of them, if they would have
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: come out last year in the draft, the year before
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: last year in the draft, they're probably top 10 to
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: 15 picks. They go back to school. They're talked about. Oh,
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: these guys are going to be... And they both stunk.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: And they both fell in.
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: they didn't fall spots like like liner they fell rounds.
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: If it's not liner i would say you would you
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: would stay at usc and it's probably matt barkley who
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: came back for his senior year because he was like
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: i think usc could win a national title and then
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: barkley got so hurt his shoulder that he fell all
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: the way in the fourth round in 2013 yes uh.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Sal i'm so proud of you for admitting to a
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: national audience that you had no idea who dan lanning.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: Was it's a big step for you i wouldn't have
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: done it i.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: I get it.
- 1:07:11Speaker 11: What's the worst that could happen?
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: I get fired again.
- 1:07:13Speaker 11: I mean, I'm not worried about it.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: I'm not going to fire you. I'm proud of you.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: I've been saying forever that you in your car. Okay.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: There are people driving in their car all over this
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: country who know more about sports than the people on
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: the microphones. And it's okay to acknowledge that and admit it.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I've been doing it my entire career.
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: They do.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: They care about it more than we do sometimes.
- 1:07:35Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, look, have I heard of his name?
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: Maybe, but I totally blanked on it.
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: So, yeah, I'm not afraid to admit that. Wouldn't you
- 1:07:41Speaker 7: rather me be honest with you? I'm not going to pretend.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: I could easily just go to my phone and go
- 1:07:46Speaker 7: to Safari. Oh, yeah, Dan Lanning, you know, he's been
- 1:07:49Speaker 7: here since 2022. He's 56 and 48. Like, yeah, you
- 1:07:52Speaker 7: don't want that. I was honest with you.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: I lied as well. I really thought Mike Gundy was
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: still coaching at Oklahoma State.
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: We all knew, though.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Before we get to last night's game and a big
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: football weekend coming up, I have to update the audience.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: I lied to them. It won't be the last time.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: But I did say during one of the podcasts that
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Israel Gutierrez would be with us today.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: I lied.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: He'll be with us on Monday. OK, so Izzy is
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: coming back on Monday.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Let's get to last night's game before Bear joins us
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: here because we have a big college football weekend coming up.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: He's been on fire, Mikey. I got to give Bear
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: credit because people criticize him. Israel criticizes him all the time.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Bear has been on fire recently, has he not?
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: He's been good. He's the bear.
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: And when he misses, you don't look a gift horse
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: in the mouth and then say, hey, that sucked.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Taylor, what were your thoughts last night?
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I was surprised to learn earlier today that Mikey is
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: not a big fan of Josh Allen.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: What were your thoughts?
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: What were your thoughts on last night's game? That man
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: has nine touchdowns, no turnovers. through two games.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: He's on pace. to score 79 touchdowns this year. He
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: is overwhelming.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: That offense is overwhelming. And Detroit's in trouble because that
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: defense is lousy.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so players with nine-plus total touchdowns and zero turnovers
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: in the team's first two games of a season. 2013,
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: Peyton Manning, he won the MVP. 2018, Patrick Mahomes, he
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: won the MVP.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: And 2026, Josh Allen.
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: There was no way Buffalo was losing the first game
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: at Highmark Stadium. And to go even further, there was
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: nobody that was scoring a touchdown to open that stadium
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: besides Josh Allen. Josh Allen was always going to rush
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: that first touchdown.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Well, Mikey's upset because he has James Cook on his
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: fantasy team.
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: Playing Josh Allen.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: Oh, playing against Josh Allen. Taking all your rushing touchdowns.
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: So the reason why I'm not pressing the panic button
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: on the Detroit defense yet is they're missing their two
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: starting safeties. Like you get Kirby Joseph back, you get
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: Brian Branch back. Your defense should theoretically look a lot different. Overall, though,
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: it's not good because you give up 469 yards in
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: week one to New Orleans and then Buffalo follows that
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: with 446 yards. It feels like their offense doesn't matter
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: what their offense does. They were really never in that game.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: And for that game to end as a 10 point game,
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: that might be the biggest blowout that ended in a
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: 10 point game I've ever seen in NFL history.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: You know, it's it's you're right. Put it on the pole.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: It was. It was a 10-point blowout. That game felt
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: like it.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: Was 20-plus points to lead the entire game. You stopped
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: me dead in my tracks. I had to think about it,
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: and you were right.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: And by the way, thank you for changing my opinion
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: and having me take Buffalo instead of Detroit last night.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: You now get 20% of the pool if I win.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: How about that? Yes. Wow.
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: Anyway.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Mikey, why don't you like Josh Allen?
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: What is the problem? I know he plays in Buffalo.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: He plays inside your division. You're a Jets fan. I'm
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: a Jets fan. I respect the hell out of that guy,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: and I like him. I enjoy watching him play, man.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: He is one of one, Mikey.
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: Listen, I respect him and he is really good at football,
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: but I have a rule where if you want to
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: be a tough guy, you could be a tough guy.
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: Baker Mayfield is a tough guy at quarterback. He's a
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: guy who's going to put his head down. He's going
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: to try and run over a linebacker. He's going to
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: get up and say, come on, hit me harder. You
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: could be that guy. You could be what I would
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: call a wimp. Tom Brady was a wimp. Amazing quarterback.
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: But if you breathed on Tom Brady wrong, he was
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: going to scream for a flag.
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: You could be that. I expect that for most quarterbacks.
- 1:11:38Speaker 9: But you can't be both. And Josh Allen is constantly
- 1:11:43Speaker 9: running people over and then complaining for a flag. And
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: it just rubs me the wrong way. He's one of
- 1:11:50Speaker 9: the biggest floppers. He's one of the best quarterbacks. I'm
- 1:11:52Speaker 9: not trying to say he's not good. But come on, man.
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: Be one of them. Be one or the other.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Don't be both. Taylor, do you agree with this?
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: No. I love.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: If you told me.
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: Thanks for going with me on that, Taylor.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Why would he?
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: I mean, you're alone and you deserve to be.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: That's fine.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: If you told me I could only watch one player
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: in the NFL for the rest of time.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: It'd be him.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: It'd be Josh Allen.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: Seriously.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: The highlight plays Josh Allen makes... I'm all for it.
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: And if he's getting preferential treatment from referees, because he
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: is a quarterback, he deserves it because Mikey, I don't
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: want there to even be a chance that Josh Allen
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: misses a game because he takes a bad hit or
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: an illegal dirty hit. So yes, I don't mind that
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: they're protecting Josh Allen and he's going to run you over.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: To, well, Yeah.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: But that's the problem.
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: If you're a defensive player and he's running you over
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: and then the next play you go hit him and
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: he gets up and he's screaming for a foul or
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: you don't hit him and he pretends you hit him.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: Right. By the way, give that a Google search because
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: he does that a lot, too. Yes. Then go ahead.
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: And like, what are we even doing? What what sport
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: are we playing? Yes.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: He's a great quarterback.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: If I had one player to watch for the remainder
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: of time, it would be him or it would be
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: Caleb Williams.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: It would be one of those two people. to watch
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: for the remainder of time.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: Yeah, Taylor.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: When I was watching that game yesterday, and you're getting
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: started on Thursday Night Football on Prime. It felt like
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: the Lions didn't know that Josh Allen was a rushing
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: threat until about halftime.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: Weird, yes.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Where every time he's dropping back to pass, it felt
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: like they kind of had a guy spying, but the
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: guy spying was like, oh, Josh Allen's a lot slower
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: than I think he is.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: He's not running.
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: And then Josh Allen would just rush for like 25
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: yards a carry.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Yeah, he's crazy.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: So I know you said you're not concerned yet about
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: the Lions defense because the safeties are out. You can
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: have those same concerns about the Bills defense because they
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: have not been great Through the first two games. The
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: difference is between the two teams. The Bills have an offense.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: They don't care if the defense gives up 30. They'll
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: score 40. The Lions can't do that every single week offensively.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: They've been good offensively. They put up 30-plus points in
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: each of the games, I believe, but they can't do that. Like,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: if you score 30 against the Lions, Jared Goff is
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: not going to give you a Josh Allen game and
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: put up 45. The Bills can make those wins, you know,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: when they give up 30, 35 points. Those turn into wins.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: They've done it twice this season. The Lions were lucky
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: to win the first game, and they lost last night.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: So I would be concerned about the Lions' defense more
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: than the Bills' defense only because the Bills' offense is
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: better than the Lions' offense.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: Jared Goff might be the most milquetoast quarterback in the NFL.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Put it on the ball.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Is Jared Goff the most milquetoast quarterback in the NFL?
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: I think you're right. I'm voting yes.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: Because we talk about him like he's a top 10 quarterback.
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: He's not a top 10 quarterback, but he's somewhere in
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: that 10 to 15 range.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: But he's had a couple of coffees in the top 10.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: He has like he has. He's had moments where he's
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: been a top. You consider him a top 10 quarterback. No,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: it feels like his ceiling is like 13. And that's
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: as much as I'm willing to budge there.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: Really? And his floor is 16.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: Yes, Mikey, 1,000%. Jared Goff lives in the 13 to
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: 16 range because you're watching him play. And it's unfair
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: to compare Jared Goff to Josh Allen. But when a
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: play breaks down for... josh allen or lamar jackson or
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: caleb williams they have ways to extend plays right jared
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: goff's ability to extend plays is he's just gonna duck
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: his head in his lap and just go down.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Wait so there's no escapability zero i just well brady
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: didn't have much either and he was fine yeah.
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: But brady was a lot but the ball was out
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: with tom brady.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: Right i know i understand it listen i wasn't trying
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: to make the argument that jared goff is better than
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: tom brady i'm just saying He couldn't move with. So golf,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: just so I'm clear on this, you guys, there's a
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: window for golf. He'll never be rated in your minds
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: higher than the 13th best quarterback in the NFL, but
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: it'll never be lower than 16th.
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: Is that what you're saying?
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: Yep. That exact window.
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: Pretty much.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Wait, but do you guys agree that like maybe two
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: years ago, I think they got to the NFC Championship game.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Wasn't he considered a top 10 quarterback at one point,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Jared Goff?
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: He was playing at that level, wasn't he?
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: He was probably playing at that level, but Jared Goff
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: is always going to be a quarterback that needs the
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: perfect situation around him where you give him the best
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: running back in the NFL with Jameer Gibbs. You give
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: him one of the best receivers in Amar'a St.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Brown.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: If you gave Jared Goff another game or two, he
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: was going to come back to 13 or 16. Like,
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: at one point, he threw five interceptions in a game.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: And you're like, oh, man, he stinks. And then the
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: next game, he throws for six touchdowns. And you're like, oh, man,
- 1:16:42Speaker 6: he's great. If you just stretch out the timeline a
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: little bit, it's always going to be 13 to 16.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: If you play enough games, he'll always come back to that,
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: 13 to 16.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: Water always finds its level.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I mean, he did have 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: one year.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: I mean, it was a couple of years ago.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: It was great.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: It was 4,500 yards. That's a good season guys. I
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: had stopped at no.
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: Can I tell you what I'm tired of with this
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: Detroit lions team?
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: What?
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: Amon Ross St. Brown, he's a great wide receiver. I
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: am so tired of watching him when the Lions are
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: down by 20 and he makes a catch and he's
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: doing all his pointing celebrations. He's scoring in this garbage
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: time and he's doing all his dances. It's like Amon
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: Ross St. Brown, act like you've been there one time
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: and stop celebrating when your team is getting their teeth
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: kicked in by Josh Allen.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: I am so focused here. I'm with you on that.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: They're garbage touchdowns. They're always garbage touchdowns.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: They're garbage yards, yeah.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Yes, but if you're a fantasy owner, you love it.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: I am fixated now on Jared Goff, not the place
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I thought we'd start today. Over three seasons, Jared Goff had–
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: you can check the numbers on this, okay? I believe
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: it's 101 touchdown passes against 32 interceptions. I mean, that's
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: pretty ridiculous. I feel like he's a top-ten quarterback in
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: the NFL. But you guys have them 13 to 16,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: and you're unwilling to budge.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: And I understand that because that's what sports radio is
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: all about. You have drawn a line in the sand.
