- 0:00Speaker 1: I'll start Toyota Presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:03Speaker 1: and Matt.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Flynn Hester and Hester.
- 0:08Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each
- 0:11Speaker 1: other on the air live from the Mercedes Benz Baton
- 0:19Speaker 1: Rouge Studio.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's off the bench, smarts all right.
- 0:29Speaker 4: And welcome back in hour number three, oh TV one,
- 0:32Speaker 4: O four five ESPN batteries.
- 0:34Speaker 3: The timing was better of that one.
- 0:36Speaker 5: I was gonna say yesterday we discouraged. You didn't say
- 0:39Speaker 5: it the entire show until just now you called.
- 0:42Speaker 6: The annoying yesterday.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Well, I think we heard his feelings. I think we
- 0:45Speaker 4: heard his feelings.
- 0:47Speaker 6: Get this, dude, who.
- 0:49Speaker 7: Is about hour one an hour two?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I was like that one was better. That one was better.
- 0:54Speaker 4: And speaking of better, we are going to catch up
- 0:56Speaker 4: with the best right now, our gut Nick Underhill, New
- 0:58Speaker 4: Orleans Dots Football joins us.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Now, Nick, how are you doing, sir?
- 1:03Speaker 6: Great?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Are you guys doing doing fantastic?
- 1:05Speaker 4: And I'm sure you're pretty excited. Not like Christmas morning excited.
- 1:09Speaker 4: That's like training camp, but you know, maybe like birthday
- 1:12Speaker 4: excited because you got a little mini camp for the Saints.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 2: No, it starts, starts today at least two practices they
- 1:20Speaker 2: scheduled too, with like fans out there, I don't know
- 1:21Speaker 2: if they'll do all three or not. But yeah, look,
- 1:24Speaker 2: I think this is a it's an exciting time with
- 1:27Speaker 2: this team at least, like I've never really been more
- 1:29Speaker 2: interested to go out and see practices. You know, by
- 1:32Speaker 2: by August that might no longer be the case because
- 1:34Speaker 2: they might reveal themselves as not being a very good team.
- 1:38Speaker 2: But right now, like the gifts still wrapped up, and
- 1:41Speaker 2: as if that opened up, right, you aren't disappointed. You know,
- 1:44Speaker 2: your mom didn't get you the team Jordan's instead of
- 1:46Speaker 2: the Jordan threes, you know, like you got the right Jordan's,
- 1:49Speaker 2: not the not the foot locker on the shelf, ones
- 1:51Speaker 2: like that could be in the box. So until you
- 1:53Speaker 2: find out, Yeah, it's exciting, man, I'm eager to see
- 1:57Speaker 2: what these.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Guys look like.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, him as well.
- 1:59Speaker 4: There's so many different intriguing position battles. Certainly the quarterback
- 2:03Speaker 4: is going to lead the charge there, but what the
- 2:05Speaker 4: offensive line is going to look like. But I want
- 2:08Speaker 4: to ask you about the running back position because nickd
- 2:11Speaker 4: does seem like they are in the market for a
- 2:13Speaker 4: veteran running back. I mean they've kind of been tied
- 2:15Speaker 4: loosely to some of these running backs.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I know, Nick Chubb just went to the Texans.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Becam Akers is somebody the Saints are interested in at least,
- 2:22Speaker 4: and it feels like they want to bring in another
- 2:24Speaker 4: veteran running back even though they have Ak and Clyde
- 2:27Speaker 4: Edwards te Layer on the roster already.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It's interesting because like it's a position that that you know,
- 2:33Speaker 2: could be crowded if some of these maybes hit, and
- 2:36Speaker 2: if none of the maybes sad, it's it's the borderline disaster. Uh.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You know, Clyde's a huge maybe still I think there's
- 2:42Speaker 2: a lot of talent, but he was available in the
- 2:45Speaker 2: last season, and you know when a guy's out there
- 2:47Speaker 2: on the open market in November December that there's usually
- 2:49Speaker 2: a reason for it. Collin's obvious was a first round pick,
- 2:52Speaker 2: but it's been a few years since we've seen him
- 2:55Speaker 2: kind of capitalize on that for a multitude of reasons.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And you know, hopefully all that you know, set up
- 3:01Speaker 2: to where he can show it consistently now so he
- 3:04Speaker 2: could be Boomer bus Kendre is very boom or bust.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I still can't get my head around the idea that
- 3:09Speaker 2: someone can't figure out like eight plays that he can
- 3:12Speaker 2: execute consistently, because like even when he doesn't know exactly
- 3:15Speaker 2: what he's supposed to be doing, like we've seen him
- 3:17Speaker 2: break off nine yard runs like like it's nothing, but
- 3:19Speaker 2: he's very boomer busy, Devin Neil, You know, a late
- 3:23Speaker 2: round pick theoretically should be good, but we don't know.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You know, I haven't seen anything out there, Marcus, youre irons.
- 3:28Speaker 2: The UDFA has looked really good in these practices, but
- 3:31Speaker 2: he's a UDFA and we haven't seen him take a
- 3:33Speaker 2: hit yet. Like if all those things go sideways, you know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: Alvin feels like the one constant, but at some point
- 3:38Speaker 2: he is going to look like a thirty year old
- 3:40Speaker 2: running back. Like I don't know when that happens, when
- 3:42Speaker 2: it hits. But assuming he's he's fine. Yeah, I mean,
- 3:46Speaker 2: one of these things could it and you have a
- 3:48Speaker 2: decent room to get it, you have a great room,
- 3:50Speaker 2: or they could all bust and maybe you need camp makers.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And he's trying out this week at mini camp and
- 3:57Speaker 2: you know he's had two torn achilles, wasn't very good
- 3:59Speaker 2: last year. But maybe the time and distance from that
- 4:02Speaker 2: second second torn Achilles, you know, allows him to kind
- 4:05Speaker 2: of tap into more week he was at the beginning
- 4:08Speaker 2: of his career. He bounced back really, really good from
- 4:11Speaker 2: the first Achilles. There second one is taking a little
- 4:13Speaker 2: bit more time. But yeah, I mean, look, I think
- 4:16Speaker 2: it makes sense to look at these guys and even
- 4:19Speaker 2: if let's say all the maybes, it like if you're
- 4:21Speaker 2: building on a strength and you're picking the best three
- 4:23Speaker 2: or whatever at the end of it, that's not a
- 4:24Speaker 2: bad spot to be either.
- 4:26Speaker 6: All right, Nick, I'm always gonna lead my questions and
- 4:31Speaker 6: start off with quarterbacks because we all know the quarterbacks.
- 4:33Speaker 6: It's an important person in the room. And at the sight,
- 4:36Speaker 6: I mean, we have a full out bona fide QB
- 4:41Speaker 6: one battle. So going into many camp, is there really
- 4:45Speaker 6: anything else that you can pull from any camp that
- 4:47Speaker 6: you didn't pull from OTAs We had Scott Tolzien on
- 4:50Speaker 6: the show last last week and he was talking, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 6: really about like this isn't really evaluating for a starter.
- 4:56Speaker 6: This is about getting reps, reps, reps because we don't
- 4:58Speaker 6: have pads on like training camp. That's when in the
- 5:00Speaker 6: real competition. But of course that's a little bit of
- 5:03Speaker 6: coaches talk. But what can a coach in a mini
- 5:06Speaker 6: camp setting see that we kind of haven't already got
- 5:09Speaker 6: from OTAs.
- 5:11Speaker 2: For me, I'm really just going out here and I
- 5:13Speaker 2: just don't want to see one of them look worse
- 5:15Speaker 2: than than what we've seen. Like I just want to
- 5:17Speaker 2: see forward progress or holding steady. You know, I feel
- 5:21Speaker 2: decent about where where these guys are at right now.
- 5:24Speaker 2: And you know, but the thing is is we go
- 5:25Speaker 2: out there and it's limited exposure and we're seeing like
- 5:28Speaker 2: very short practices, you know, the practicing indoors. It's you know,
- 5:33Speaker 2: from what I've heard, the practice they've allowed us to
- 5:35Speaker 2: see each week is a lot more condensed and controlled
- 5:38Speaker 2: than the other ones. Like we go in, we see
- 5:40Speaker 2: about seven eight passes from each quarterback, and then we're
- 5:43Speaker 2: out of there, and you know, it could just happen
- 5:45Speaker 2: to be that on three we see Spencer Ratler's three
- 5:48Speaker 2: best days, and you know, there's a positive viewpoint there.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I think seeing it in this setting kind of you know,
- 5:54Speaker 2: outside people screaming a little more adrenaline, got the heat going,
- 5:58Speaker 2: you know, some sweat on the football whatever. All that
- 6:00Speaker 2: stuff got the actual vets out there now, Like, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I think that plays a part in these guys completing.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I want to say it's like ninety two percent of
- 6:07Speaker 2: the passes that we've seen throwing in these seven on sevens.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Like now now you got tiring out there. The Mario
- 6:12Speaker 2: is going to be out there every day, like when
- 6:14Speaker 2: you got the full secondary does it does it look
- 6:16Speaker 2: a little bit different, And like, I hope it does
- 6:19Speaker 2: look a little bit different, but I don't want it
- 6:20Speaker 2: to look discouraging different. And like, honestly, like I'm just
- 6:24Speaker 2: looking for for continued momentum, and uh, you know, I
- 6:28Speaker 2: want to be able to go into this this break
- 6:30Speaker 2: believe in that you know, if if X and Y happened,
- 6:33Speaker 2: then he's possible, you know, and a step back would
- 6:36Speaker 2: feel kind of devastating. So I just want to see
- 6:39Speaker 2: a little bit of that that Ford momentum from confidence building,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you know. And I think in the case of Shuck
- 6:44Speaker 2: is just like incremental improvements like hey he was slow
- 6:48Speaker 2: on display yesterday. Today he's seeing it a little bit quicker.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Hey he's doing this some rhythm. You know, he's just
- 6:54Speaker 2: kind of picking up the details, you know, I think
- 6:56Speaker 2: from the sideline you know, for for a non mass
- 6:59Speaker 2: flint observed like an idiot like me like that, that
- 7:01Speaker 2: might be hard to piece together, you know, every single time.
- 7:05Speaker 2: But I think from a coaching standpoint, that's that's probably
- 7:07Speaker 2: really all they're looking for right now is like little
- 7:09Speaker 2: pieces of growth being improvement with the reps and then
- 7:13Speaker 2: you know, just having a menu with things that you
- 7:14Speaker 2: can handle. Both these guys at the end and say like, hey,
- 7:16Speaker 2: look these are good things, bad things like clean that
- 7:19Speaker 2: up for camp, and then I just want to see
- 7:21Speaker 2: shock really, you know, and Ratlery too, you know, come
- 7:23Speaker 2: back look a little bit different. It started turning kid.
- 7:25Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think it's a good point because it's
- 7:27Speaker 6: in competitions like this, it's really easy to overreact. When
- 7:30Speaker 6: I was in a competition in Seattle with Russell, It's
- 7:34Speaker 6: like I had practices where I mean I couldn't miss
- 7:36Speaker 6: dicing it up, throwing like ten touchdowns in a practice
- 7:39Speaker 6: right and the other guy would have a couple batted
- 7:41Speaker 6: down with a line of scrimmage I got picked, you
- 7:43Speaker 6: know whatever it was, and things that like just look
- 7:45Speaker 6: bad from an observer standpoint, So it's easy to overreact
- 7:50Speaker 6: from like a reporting standpoint, like that, but you have
- 7:52Speaker 6: a good outlook on it. I note that's what kind
- 7:54Speaker 6: of tolls he was talking about it. We take the
- 7:56Speaker 6: whole scope into a decision making process and we're seeing
- 8:00Speaker 6: one practice is just like one little tiny aspect of it.
- 8:03Speaker 6: But one part from like a coaching and a a
- 8:06Speaker 6: on a competition like this that's difficult to manage is
- 8:09Speaker 6: how each guy gets reps. So every team can handle
- 8:12Speaker 6: a competition differently from you know, a number standpoint of reps.
- 8:16Speaker 6: How are they trading off between first and second team reps?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Is it?
- 8:21Speaker 6: But day by day? Is it? Series by series?
- 8:24Speaker 3: Is it?
- 8:25Speaker 6: You know, one rep by one rep? How are they
- 8:28Speaker 6: trading that off right now?
- 8:30Speaker 2: So well first like yeah, great, Like sometimes I'm embarrassing
- 8:33Speaker 2: to myself out we talk about these like early practices
- 8:36Speaker 2: because you're you're like you're waiting six months and you
- 8:39Speaker 2: go out and you see an ota and you dissect
- 8:41Speaker 2: eight passes like you know, it's the game winning drive
- 8:44Speaker 2: in the super Bowl, because like it's all you have
- 8:45Speaker 2: to talk about, and then you have that just for
- 8:47Speaker 2: a full week and when it's a quarterback scope, like
- 8:50Speaker 2: it's it's embarrassing when you look back on it. But
- 8:52Speaker 2: I mean, but that's all we can really do. Sure,
- 8:55Speaker 2: you know, as far as how they're splitting it up
- 8:59Speaker 2: each day, it's Ben Ratler. He's been first team and
- 9:02Speaker 2: every single series I think that we've seen, barring one,
- 9:07Speaker 2: has been him going first. We saw Shuck in the
- 9:10Speaker 2: last practice. Rattler took the first team reps the first time,
- 9:14Speaker 2: then it was Shuck and then they do special teams,
- 9:16Speaker 2: they come back, and then Shuck went first the next time. Now,
- 9:19Speaker 2: like a few times when Chuck's went out there with
- 9:21Speaker 2: the second team, some of the starters from the first
- 9:23Speaker 2: team defense, it cycled in it at some of the spots,
- 9:26Speaker 2: and you know, it's kind of like a like a
- 9:28Speaker 2: half squad or whatever. But for the most part, it's
- 9:31Speaker 2: Ben Ratler running it. And you know, the first two
- 9:34Speaker 2: practices we were out there, we didn't see Hunter Deckers
- 9:36Speaker 2: throw at all. He got a series in this in
- 9:39Speaker 2: this last ota, So you know, I'm interested to kind
- 9:43Speaker 2: of see what he can do too. I think there's
- 9:44Speaker 2: a significant gap between him and the other guys, But
- 9:47Speaker 2: like his athletic profiles like really really interesting to me,
- 9:51Speaker 2: and you know, I'm kind of curious to see if
- 9:52Speaker 2: he can if he can be good enough to maybe
- 9:55Speaker 2: make the practice squad. I you know, if I had
- 9:57Speaker 2: to guess right now, I don't think he pushes Jay Canner.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think there's a you know, pretty pretty decent golf
- 10:03Speaker 2: right there. But you know, over time, maybe maybe it
- 10:05Speaker 2: closes a little bit. But yeah, it looks like rattlers
- 10:08Speaker 2: in the lead. That's the thing I think I'm most
- 10:10Speaker 2: interested in going into the training camp is just to
- 10:13Speaker 2: really see how they they handle this battle. Like do
- 10:15Speaker 2: they do they call it early if one guy's like
- 10:17Speaker 2: really went in if it's shucked, did they call it
- 10:19Speaker 2: early and go with them? Or you know, do you
- 10:21Speaker 2: do you feel like you owe it to the process
- 10:23Speaker 2: to run it all the way through the preseason and
- 10:25Speaker 2: kind of you know, cycle it through and and just
- 10:27Speaker 2: see where it's at at the end. You know, I
- 10:30Speaker 2: don't know, I don't know what the right way to
- 10:31Speaker 2: do it is. You know, I kind of lean towards
- 10:33Speaker 2: settling it, but you know, I could see going through
- 10:35Speaker 2: the whole thing too. If it stays you know close,
- 10:38Speaker 2: and you know, just at the end, I just want
- 10:40Speaker 2: to feel like somebody want it instead of somebody like
- 10:42Speaker 2: getting it by the fault or somebody losing it. Like,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I just want one of these two guys to like
- 10:46Speaker 2: really look like they've claimed the job.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Catching up with Nick Underhill nuanced out football here on
- 10:52Speaker 4: ot B, I do want to go to the other
- 10:54Speaker 4: side of the football. I know that a lot of
- 10:56Speaker 4: questions for the Saints are going to be on offense,
- 10:58Speaker 4: but there's a defensive player that just a year ago
- 11:02Speaker 4: you traded up in the second round from forty five
- 11:04Speaker 4: to forty one. So it's like kool Ai McKinstry, and
- 11:07Speaker 4: I feel like we don't hear a lot about kool Aid.
- 11:10Speaker 4: What's the plan for him moving forward? I know he's
- 11:13Speaker 4: you know, changed Jersey numbers. I feel like that's the
- 11:15Speaker 4: only news that I've really seen because Nick as you know,
- 11:18Speaker 4: like if you're a second round pick, like you got
- 11:21Speaker 4: to be a dude. But certainly if they trade up
- 11:23Speaker 4: forty five to forty one, like that expectation goes up
- 11:27Speaker 4: even more so. So what's the outlook for kol Ai
- 11:30Speaker 4: mcintrey heading into his second year?
- 11:33Speaker 2: That's the thing I really want to see here, man,
- 11:34Speaker 2: Like it's felt a little bit too easy for these
- 11:37Speaker 2: quarterbacks and it's seven on Stevens, like they're going to
- 11:39Speaker 2: complete more passes in that setting than anything else. But
- 11:41Speaker 2: like it's been automatic and you're talking around about a
- 11:45Speaker 2: rookie and a fifth round pick, like this should be
- 11:47Speaker 2: a little bit more resistant. So I just want to
- 11:49Speaker 2: see a couple of plays get made out here. Theoretically, Like,
- 11:52Speaker 2: I think the system should suit Cooy pretty well. Like
- 11:56Speaker 2: Staley likes to run a lot of the same stuff
- 11:57Speaker 2: that Staban runs at Alabama, and you know he was
- 12:01Speaker 2: good there, Like you got picked in the second round
- 12:03Speaker 2: out of that system, so you know, he should be
- 12:05Speaker 2: more comfortable in what he's doing, you know, some of
- 12:08Speaker 2: the powder match stuff and all that. Like, I think
- 12:11Speaker 2: I think it should fit for him. But yeah, I
- 12:13Speaker 2: mean I thought I thought the rookie year, you know,
- 12:16Speaker 2: was just okay. You know, I think he's somebody that
- 12:19Speaker 2: really needs to take a big leap this year. And
- 12:22Speaker 2: I think he's kind of, like quietly one of the
- 12:24Speaker 2: more important guys on the team right now, because like
- 12:26Speaker 2: if he solidifies one of those positions, you at least
- 12:29Speaker 2: have an answer. If he doesn't, and then a Lackey Taylor,
- 12:32Speaker 2: like he's a free agent at the end of this season,
- 12:35Speaker 2: you might have nothing at cornerback, and like, how are
- 12:38Speaker 2: you going to address those needs? You don't want to
- 12:40Speaker 2: be doing it in free agency. You don't want to
- 12:43Speaker 2: be in a position where you have to be the
- 12:44Speaker 2: team that pays Jaii Alexander who you know seven games
- 12:48Speaker 2: last year, seven games a year before that. You know,
- 12:51Speaker 2: I don't think you want to be in a position
- 12:53Speaker 2: of weakness at two cornerback spots because like how do
- 12:56Speaker 2: you address that? And then like what if your quarterback
- 12:58Speaker 2: isn't good? And where's the wide receiver coming in to
- 13:01Speaker 2: go behind Chris Alave If you don't want to pay him,
- 13:03Speaker 2: where are you getting your pass rushers? Like you're talking
- 13:06Speaker 2: like five six premium positions that you'd have to address.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Like granted you have cap space, but you don't want
- 13:10Speaker 2: to buy your way out of out of that, Like
- 13:12Speaker 2: you want to be able to do it from a
- 13:14Speaker 2: position to strength. So him hitting I think, is like
- 13:17Speaker 2: quietly one of the bigger storylines of the season.
- 13:20Speaker 6: All right, Nick, give me a I'm interested in in
- 13:24Speaker 6: Kellen Moore, how he his coaching style, how he presents
- 13:28Speaker 6: himself on the Every coach is different, right, every every
- 13:31Speaker 6: coach coach is different. Some of them are yellow some
- 13:34Speaker 6: of them are laid back, some of them are teachers.
- 13:36Speaker 6: They're just all different. So tell me about Kellen Moore,
- 13:39Speaker 6: like on the practice field, how, how what's his demeanor?
- 13:42Speaker 6: How does he interact with the players, because he's not
- 13:45Speaker 6: he's probably not that much older than a lot of
- 13:47Speaker 6: the guys. He might be younger than some of the
- 13:48Speaker 6: guys that are on the team, but like, so talk
- 13:51Speaker 6: to us about how that is how he's just been perceived.
- 13:54Speaker 6: And the guys have really taken to Kellen so far.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, he seems really smart, and that's the thing you
- 14:00Speaker 2: kind of hear from everyone, like when they're talking football,
- 14:03Speaker 2: like they really like him. And I think, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 2: one of the guys just telling me the other day,
- 14:07Speaker 2: like one of the things that he's done that that
- 14:09Speaker 2: you know from the meeting perspective, player perspective, that that's smart.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Is just kind of tying himself the nut Smyer because
- 14:14Speaker 2: you kind of get some of that like younger, new school,
- 14:16Speaker 2: you know, more relaxed, relatable approach from him, and then
- 14:20Speaker 2: he knows how to pass it off to nus Meyer,
- 14:22Speaker 2: and thus Meyer can be kind of more like the
- 14:24Speaker 2: old school you know, uncle who tells you how it
- 14:26Speaker 2: is type guy and uh, you know, I think that
- 14:28Speaker 2: blend has come together really well. Yeah, I think he
- 14:32Speaker 2: kind of presents exactly how you would think he presents,
- 14:35Speaker 2: Like he is just kind of the same all the
- 14:37Speaker 2: time when you look at him, you know, on the field,
- 14:40Speaker 2: kind of carries himself the same way that that when
- 14:42Speaker 2: you look at him, like you get kind of what
- 14:44Speaker 2: you expect. But what was kind of revealing for me
- 14:47Speaker 2: is LSU had that that coaching clinic and he spoke
- 14:50Speaker 2: on it and uh, you know, I bought a ticket
- 14:52Speaker 2: through on a hat and some glasses, sat in the
- 14:53Speaker 2: back when Hancock me, it'll just to kind of see
- 14:55Speaker 2: how he himself. Yeah, Conick, and I thought I was
- 15:00Speaker 2: undercover and I walked into Pj's and someone immediately said
- 15:04Speaker 2: hi to mean I was like, all right, well I'm
- 15:05Speaker 2: busted if I go up here. But like, look, seeing
- 15:06Speaker 2: him up on that stage, like his presence was different
- 15:09Speaker 2: than then, you know, it was kind of eye opening
- 15:11Speaker 2: for me. Like when he started talking about football, like
- 15:14Speaker 2: there was a little more gusto, a little more like bravado,
- 15:17Speaker 2: and just the way he explained things for you know,
- 15:20Speaker 2: a regular person, like the way he was breaking it
- 15:22Speaker 2: down it. It was really understandable. Like he wasn't talking
- 15:24Speaker 2: over anyone said, he very very much had you know,
- 15:27Speaker 2: a grasp on the concepts, how to explain it, how
- 15:29Speaker 2: to teach, how to communicate, and you know he kind of,
- 15:33Speaker 2: you know, he kind of felt like his shoulders went
- 15:35Speaker 2: up a little bit and the chests puffed out a
- 15:36Speaker 2: little bit when he was up there in his own
- 15:37Speaker 2: element as opposed to like the media setting. So you know,
- 15:41Speaker 2: I thought, I thought that was a good thing to
- 15:42Speaker 2: see there. But so far, like I think the buying
- 15:45Speaker 2: is really good. They're doing like these you know, off
- 15:49Speaker 2: field community events, and like they're getting good attendants at those,
- 15:52Speaker 2: which is usually a decent sign. You know, it kind
- 15:54Speaker 2: of seems like some people are checked him just to
- 15:56Speaker 2: like the general philosophy of what he sells and like
- 16:00Speaker 2: beyond football, which I think is I don't know if
- 16:02Speaker 2: but ultimately means anything. But when you're trying to build
- 16:04Speaker 2: a culture, it's probably good to have that initial buy
- 16:06Speaker 2: in on kind of everything. And it seems like it's there.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Uh.
- 16:11Speaker 2: You know, I've learned though that that June buy in
- 16:14Speaker 2: doesn't necessarily mean anything. There's a lot of buying last
- 16:17Speaker 2: year and then by by tell Tember there wasn't but uh,
- 16:20Speaker 2: you know, you don't want to see people not buying in.
- 16:23Speaker 2: So you know, I think he has a right now,
- 16:25Speaker 2: and you know, look at some of these vets out
- 16:28Speaker 2: here this week and and we'll kind of see how
- 16:30Speaker 2: some of that stuff goes out. I do find it
- 16:31Speaker 2: kind of interesting that that the attendance, uh, you know,
- 16:34Speaker 2: from the veteran aspect, is a little bit worse in
- 16:37Speaker 2: the voluntary part than it was last year. But I
- 16:40Speaker 2: could understand some general discouragement when the team is where
- 16:43Speaker 2: it is and the quarterback retires out of nowhere. Uh,
- 16:45Speaker 2: you know, that's probably probably tougher guys that might be
- 16:47Speaker 2: in the last year of their uh you know, career
- 16:50Speaker 2: last year or two.
- 16:52Speaker 6: What's that? What's that attendance stat that you're talking about.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Just like some of the you know, some of the
- 16:58Speaker 2: vets aren't out there, like you know, just last year,
- 17:01Speaker 2: it kind of felt like everybody, everybody kind of showed up.
- 17:05Speaker 2: You know this funny the year Alvin never does so
- 17:07Speaker 2: like him aside, but you know, some of the guys,
- 17:10Speaker 2: like like the Mario was kind of working out on
- 17:11Speaker 2: his own a little bit Tyron was was, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 2: in and out doing his thing. Cam was in and
- 17:15Speaker 2: out doing his thing. Like it's just some of those
- 17:18Speaker 2: guys on that side of the ball, you know typically
- 17:22Speaker 2: you know, it was just a little bit different, and
- 17:24Speaker 2: you know that's something that that stands out when you're
- 17:26Speaker 2: starting over a little bit. But I would probably feel
- 17:32Speaker 2: a little bit discouraged if I was, you know, a
- 17:33Speaker 2: guy looking at it like it's it's one of the
- 17:35Speaker 2: final years of my career. Like, but I don't know,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you know, people got off field responsibilities, they got kids,
- 17:40Speaker 2: they got different stuff going on. I don't know why
- 17:42Speaker 2: people aren't there. It isn't mandatory, but you know, when
- 17:45Speaker 2: you're when you're looking at three practices in your dissect
- 17:47Speaker 2: and everything like those are one of the things that
- 17:48Speaker 2: kind of stand out a little bit.
- 17:50Speaker 3: A right there.
- 17:51Speaker 4: He is our guy, Nick Underhill, New Orleans Dot Football
- 17:54Speaker 4: is the website. Nobody does it better when covering the Saints.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Go check it out, Nick. We appreciate it every single week.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Sir, Yeah, don'ts showing me.
- 18:05Speaker 3: That was never an option for me missing that anything.
- 18:09Speaker 6: Let me tell you, NIX been mixed. Great love talking
- 18:13Speaker 6: to Nack yea love listening to him until these last
- 18:15Speaker 6: couple of weeks when I've been asking the questions that
- 18:19Speaker 6: last answer he gave us might be I don't know,
- 18:24Speaker 6: I don't know how that's sitting with pretty great.
- 18:27Speaker 3: It's a pretty good nugget, though.
- 18:28Speaker 6: But it's a good nugget, but it's a it's a
- 18:30Speaker 6: pretty veteran like guys with good names too, so it's
- 18:35Speaker 6: hard to like jump to conclusion. But man, that's a
- 18:37Speaker 6: that's a I don't know if it's a talent if
- 18:40Speaker 6: I want to say, it's a telling answer, but man,
- 18:42Speaker 6: it's not a great answer.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Uh, new coach on like every level, new coach, every coach,
- 18:49Speaker 4: new coordinator like this.
- 18:54Speaker 6: I don't I don't like it.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Well, let's talk about it when we come back. Maybe
- 18:59Speaker 4: what it means your experience with guys missing the workout
- 19:03Speaker 4: portion of it, because you know, I've got my own
- 19:05Speaker 4: experiences those dudes it is it is, and they're like
- 19:09Speaker 4: hard working dudes.
- 19:11Speaker 6: Yeah, like you would never question them.
- 19:13Speaker 4: But still it is worth a conversation because it is different.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Certainly when he says the year before it wasn't like that,
- 19:20Speaker 4: and so we'll break that down when we come back
- 19:23Speaker 4: here on OTV.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Get Gordon dot Com, Gordon Current Injury Attorneys. That is
- 19:30Speaker 4: the website, and we always tell you because it's true,
- 19:33Speaker 4: you can do it all right there on the homepage.

- 19:38Speaker 4: do for you in the courtroom. You can see what
- 19:40Speaker 4: they've already done for people throughout the state of Louisiana
- 19:43Speaker 4: in the courtroom. Speaking of throughout the state of Louisiana,
- 19:47Speaker 4: they're always in the community doing something in Treport, Monroe Lake, Charles, Lafayette,
- 19:51Speaker 4: New Orleans, Baton, Rouge.
- 19:53Speaker 3: You name it.
- 19:53Speaker 4: In Louisiana, they are helping in your local community at
- 19:57Speaker 4: get Gordon's to handle on all major social media to

- 20:02Speaker 4: And then you know what it is the area code
- 20:03Speaker 4: in Louisiana followed by eight eight eight eighty eight eighty eight,
- 20:06Speaker 4: Get Gordon and get it done.

- 20:20Speaker 6: Get Gordon dot Com two to five eight A eight
- 20:23Speaker 6: eight eight eight eight.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I never knew.
- 20:29Speaker 8: I never knew that everything was phoning through that everyone
- 20:35Speaker 8: on news waiting on a queue to sit and brunwin.
- 20:39Speaker 8: All I needed was the truth sas house gottay, it's coming.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Down and nothing moment out to see more game than
- 20:50Speaker 1: a gumbo pot Hester and Flynn serve it hot on
- 20:53Speaker 1: off the bench, Matt and Rouge's own championship.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Do what you ruined a great song with that more
- 21:00Speaker 3: game than.
- 21:03Speaker 4: This is a great song, and then you play that
- 21:08Speaker 4: gumbo more more.
- 21:10Speaker 9: Game than a gumbo. Okay, I asked the same question.
- 21:19Speaker 4: By the way, I think I like the frame more
- 21:20Speaker 4: than I thought I did. If today is like any indications.
- 21:26Speaker 6: I think we explained it earlier the best. Like you
- 21:29Speaker 6: are sitting in the back seat in the rain, your
- 21:31Speaker 6: parents are driving you to school, and you're just staring
- 21:34Speaker 6: out the back window with that rain.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Yeah, when people like used to have the CD I'm
- 21:44Speaker 5: like old enough to where I had the CD player,
- 21:47Speaker 5: and I was like, yeah, the book, but like the
- 21:50Speaker 5: walkman that you would take on the bus with you
- 21:52Speaker 5: when you're on your way to school, and like the
- 21:54Speaker 5: backpack head so you can put the headphones whatever. So
- 21:58Speaker 5: like I remember I would have like burned CDs that
- 22:01Speaker 5: I would take to school with me with my walkman,
- 22:03Speaker 5: and the Fray was definitely on the burn CD. But
- 22:07Speaker 5: I'm thinking, like, you know, you used to like on
- 22:10Speaker 5: the bus, tried to act like you were in a
- 22:12Speaker 5: music video.
- 22:13Speaker 7: But the bus is so like rattling your head that
- 22:17Speaker 7: you wouldn't be able to.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Did you have the anti skips backpack you had that?
- 22:21Speaker 3: I did, you know? I mean, like it's supposed to
- 22:23Speaker 3: be anti skim, but.
- 22:24Speaker 6: If it was in your backpack, I had one that skipped,
- 22:27Speaker 6: so I had I had the big one in my.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Rooms anti shocked, I believe what like how they market if.
- 22:30Speaker 6: It's skipped like you had? Whenever?
- 22:32Speaker 9: It was whenever Like I'd argue with mom about like
- 22:35Speaker 9: hanging up my clothes or something. I'd go into the room,
- 22:37Speaker 9: I'm like, let me put on the emotional music, you know,
- 22:39Speaker 9: and I'm mad hanging up the clothes like that was
- 22:41Speaker 9: that was me?
- 22:42Speaker 6: Yeah, Like if it wasn't anti skip, then it had
- 22:45Speaker 6: to be completely flat and level.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Yeah it would.
- 22:47Speaker 6: So if it's throw in your backpack, I mean.
- 22:50Speaker 7: Man, I probably have that somewhere in my I need
- 22:53Speaker 7: you to find it.
- 22:53Speaker 4: That would be a great relic to have. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:56Speaker 4: I need that. We got a big last thirty minutes this.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I want to break down what what Nick Underhill said.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Sorry a little bit, Sorry, we can turn off the
- 23:05Speaker 4: fray I was. I was vibing good vibe.
- 23:07Speaker 3: No, I didn't want to talk about it.
- 23:09Speaker 7: I'll lower it. I'll lower it still.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Yeah we did.
- 23:12Speaker 4: We did what Nick Underhill said, if you miss it.
- 23:15Speaker 4: He was talking about, you know, some of the veteran
- 23:17Speaker 4: players not being.
- 23:18Speaker 3: There for.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Voluntary voluntary air quit here, you know, workouts in the
- 23:24Speaker 4: off season. And I don't have great experience with this
- 23:29Speaker 4: because we typically in the places that I play, we
- 23:33Speaker 4: had one hundred attendance.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Uh.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Sometimes a guy would miss you know, a week maybe
- 23:39Speaker 4: if he had something going on, uh, you know maybe
- 23:42Speaker 4: if his contract whatever. Uh. I think Sean Merriman missed
- 23:46Speaker 4: a week you know here and there, Like Antonio Gates
- 23:48Speaker 4: would miss a week here and there. But at Get
- 23:50Speaker 4: is a Hall of Famer, right and it would he
- 23:52Speaker 4: wouldn't miss just because like you would always eat, have something,
- 23:55Speaker 4: you'd have something, and they know beforehand, and you know,
- 23:58Speaker 4: he was there working out trying to think of like
- 24:00Speaker 4: some like veteran players.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Course, you know the quarterbacks always.
- 24:03Speaker 6: Going quarterbacks or quarterbacks if they're older, established a dude, like,
- 24:10Speaker 6: it's okay, I.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Never I never established established.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I never had a quarterback miss a single workout play
- 24:17Speaker 4: those two psychos.
- 24:18Speaker 3: And I mean that like in the best way possible.
- 24:22Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, I was never a part of anybody
- 24:25Speaker 6: missing either. And I guess this is like a conversation that, yeah,
- 24:28Speaker 6: you have to tread lightly and you have to like
- 24:30Speaker 6: preface a lot of things because you do never know
- 24:32Speaker 6: a situation. You never know what personally somebody's going through.
- 24:34Speaker 6: You don't even know what a coach said to maybe
- 24:36Speaker 6: the coach said, yeah, take it, take a couple of
- 24:39Speaker 6: weeks off, Bud. You never know the complete situation, but
- 24:42Speaker 6: from an optic standpoint, And we were talking about it
- 24:45Speaker 6: at break here like that. That's something that we haven't
- 24:48Speaker 6: heard come out of the camp, out of the off season,
- 24:51Speaker 6: is that there was lower attendance this year than there
- 24:55Speaker 6: was last year. And I don't we're not going to
- 24:57Speaker 6: talk like names, because we talked about the guys that
- 24:59Speaker 6: he'd named right there are like, dude, so.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Like hard work.
- 25:03Speaker 6: So there's got to be something there, right, But it's
- 25:06Speaker 6: just overall, like when your attendance is worse when you
- 25:10Speaker 6: have a brand new head coach, all new staff, all
- 25:14Speaker 6: new coordinators, all new everything.
- 25:16Speaker 3: That's the wild part.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Two young quarterbacks, Like you're building something and then your
- 25:21Speaker 6: attendance is worse than the year before for voluntary off
- 25:28Speaker 6: season workouts. That throws a red flag up. Now that
- 25:33Speaker 6: red flag might have a good reason, but it throws
- 25:36Speaker 6: a big red flag. And like he said that, and
- 25:39Speaker 6: like my ears perked up. I was like, we're like
- 25:43Speaker 6: that's different, and that's not great. It doesn't make us
- 25:46Speaker 6: feel good. We're trying to be real positive towards you, Saints.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's a Look, it's a big deal for me.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I want everybody there. I want everybody there anytime the
- 25:56Speaker 4: doors are open. Now, I'm not saying you don't go
- 25:58Speaker 4: take a week here if you've already got something. And again,
- 26:00Speaker 4: the guys that he mentioned are like literally team captain,
- 26:03Speaker 4: hard working guys. But I want everybody there well, certainly
- 26:07Speaker 4: when there's new like he had a head coach, just
- 26:10Speaker 4: like for the Steelers, like if you're if you're t J.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Watt and you and Mike Tomlin y'all know each other
- 26:15Speaker 4: pretty well. You've been together for a while.
- 26:17Speaker 3: If T J.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Watt wass to missed a couple of weeks, okay, I'm sure,
- 26:21Speaker 4: or anybody like you know on the Steelers.
- 26:23Speaker 6: I don't think like you and I. We're not procraaming, like, yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 6: you got to be there like you. You have to
- 26:27Speaker 6: be there every first one in, first one out, blah
- 26:30Speaker 6: blah blah. Because there's everyone, Every situation is treated different.
- 26:33Speaker 6: Every person gets treated different. Yeah, and if you're a guy,
- 26:36Speaker 6: if you're a veteran, you get treated differently than a
- 26:38Speaker 6: guy that's a rookie or a second you're guy trying
- 26:41Speaker 6: to just the way of the world, that's how the
- 26:43Speaker 6: world worked. If you're a new situation and you got
- 26:46Speaker 6: a brand new coach, and that's a different than another
- 26:50Speaker 6: off season year with an established staff, right, Yeah, you
- 26:54Speaker 6: trash the year before.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Because you do want to learn. You want to learn.
- 26:58Speaker 4: The day in the day out of how that person
- 27:00Speaker 4: goes about their business. What is this coach? Like, what
- 27:03Speaker 4: does this coach want me to do? Because I'm a
- 27:04Speaker 4: veteran player, Like, what's he expecting from me in this
- 27:07Speaker 4: meeting room?
- 27:08Speaker 3: Because look, there's.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Gonna be players on this roster that are the same
- 27:14Speaker 4: age as like Keller, Moore and Scott Toldsy there's gonna
- 27:17Speaker 4: be something that they're older, right, but so like they're
- 27:20Speaker 4: gonna lean on those veteran guys a Cam Jordan, the
- 27:24Speaker 4: Mario Davis, Tyr Matthew to be coaches in the meeting rooms.
- 27:28Speaker 3: And you can be like, that's not the responsibility. It's not,
- 27:30Speaker 3: but it happens.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Man, I was so fortunate my rookie year to learn
- 27:36Speaker 4: from one of the best running backs of all time,
- 27:39Speaker 4: like Ladaion Thomlinson taught me so much, Darren Sproles taught
- 27:42Speaker 4: me so much, Michael Bennett it was a former first
- 27:45Speaker 4: round pick. He ended his career with us. Man, he
- 27:47Speaker 4: taught me so much. He didn't have to. It's not
- 27:49Speaker 4: the responsibility. LT's want the goats, but like he took
- 27:54Speaker 4: that time. He helped me, He helped Mike Tolbert, and
- 27:57Speaker 4: that was so beneficial for us because the run that
- 28:00Speaker 4: coach can only do so much. But when you're talking,
- 28:04Speaker 4: you know with one of the greats, which the Saints
- 28:06Speaker 4: to Mario Davis, Cam Jordan, Tyren mac those are greats, right,
- 28:09Speaker 4: It's it's another coach in there, and you can get
- 28:11Speaker 4: a lot of those things done. Some of that learning
- 28:13Speaker 4: each other, learning expectations in some of these workouts. Even
- 28:16Speaker 4: though technically you're not out there on the football field,
- 28:19Speaker 4: you're still doing football things.
- 28:21Speaker 6: Young players at that level, I guess. I guess you
- 28:24Speaker 6: could say at any level, they learn more from their
- 28:27Speaker 6: peers than they do a coach from the nuances of
- 28:32Speaker 6: playing the game. Now, of course, of course, the coach's
- 28:34Speaker 6: job is to teach you the X and o's teach
- 28:37Speaker 6: you the game plan, teach you the playbook, like how
- 28:40Speaker 6: he wants you to operate within their system that they're teaching.
- 28:44Speaker 6: But actually how to play the game. You're talking about, ladanion,
- 28:48Speaker 6: how to read, how to read the guard, how to
- 28:50Speaker 6: read how to read a different game from the defense,
- 28:53Speaker 6: like the nuances of the game are taught by other players.
- 28:58Speaker 6: You say, you're fortunate. I was fort shit, I learned
- 29:01Speaker 6: from one of the best as well. Yeah, I became
- 29:04Speaker 6: a better quarterback I would. I'm a I was a
- 29:06Speaker 6: different quarterback because I went to Green Bay than if
- 29:09Speaker 6: I would have gone to the Panthers.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Yeah right, I felt like a straight to the Panthers
- 29:13Speaker 4: I was gonna go Cleveland.
- 29:14Speaker 6: If I went to the Cleveland Browns, everybody's catching strays.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Need to catch it. Terrible mistake by the lake.
- 29:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess all. I'm saying red flag a little
- 29:27Speaker 6: bit for me on a day that we're trying to
- 29:29Speaker 6: be positive. Yeah, I don't want to feel like this.
- 29:31Speaker 6: I'm going to vacation tomorrow.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Right uh, And like moving forward, I'm going to assume
- 29:38Speaker 4: like all those players are going to be there and
- 29:39Speaker 4: again like oh for sure for the players that it is,
- 29:42Speaker 4: it's not concerning with who it is because you know
- 29:44Speaker 4: those guys are going to be there, but it is
- 29:45Speaker 4: it is a great time to kind of again learn
- 29:47Speaker 4: each other with all the news surrounding.
- 29:50Speaker 6: The franch not calling it, it's just a bigger picture there.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Of the statement that Nick made was worth at least
- 29:58Speaker 6: exploring the in the conference.
- 30:00Speaker 3: You see the comments.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Would NFL rookies be able to take a week long
- 30:05Speaker 4: vacation for his birthday after only seven days on the job.
- 30:10Speaker 3: It's a great question. No they would not. That's a
- 30:15Speaker 3: great question. You want to have a.
- 30:17Speaker 6: Rebuttal I think so. I think it's the no, they wouldn't. Yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 6: guess what that.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Uh not in the radio game.
- 30:26Speaker 4: You're not doing it six years buddy, part time, very
- 30:30Speaker 4: part time. All right, last story before we take a break.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Speaking of like this time of the year, everybody treats
- 30:38Speaker 4: it differently. Every quarterback is going to have a different
- 30:42Speaker 4: level of respect that they're they're given. They just are.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I can remember Peyton Maning. We had a tight end,
- 30:50Speaker 4: very talented, young, big tight end, but he was young
- 30:55Speaker 4: and he had a good year, but you know, Peyton
- 30:59Speaker 4: wanted him to have have like an elite year and
- 31:01Speaker 4: he was close like that kind of player, and he
- 31:04Speaker 4: missed like two days straight of voluntary workouts and Peyton
- 31:08Speaker 4: sat there in the locker room and called him and
- 31:12Speaker 4: had it on speakerphone, like like there wasn't a lot
- 31:15Speaker 4: of people around, so it wasn't like doing it for show.
- 31:16Speaker 3: It's just like kind of how he was.
- 31:18Speaker 4: And he's just like, hey, car trouble snooze, something happened
- 31:23Speaker 4: like going on on the outside. We need to know
- 31:25Speaker 4: about Like we were good like he was because like
- 31:29Speaker 4: in his mind that player was close to going from
- 31:33Speaker 4: a good player to one of the best tight ends
- 31:35Speaker 4: in the NFL, and so like he wanted that work.
- 31:38Speaker 4: He wanted that extra throw in session, like he wanted
- 31:41Speaker 4: him to be in the building, and he was going
- 31:43Speaker 4: to hold him accountable because again it's not mandatory, but
- 31:47Speaker 4: he knew he was in town, he knew he had
- 31:49Speaker 4: been there, he knew he didn't have anything going on.
- 31:52Speaker 4: And so a lot of people might take that the
- 31:54Speaker 4: wrong way and be like, oh my gosh, But I
- 31:56Speaker 4: always had the thought process. Man, if the sheriff can
- 32:01Speaker 4: be here and he's here every single day for workouts
- 32:04Speaker 4: and he's ready to go, if Brandon Stokely, who's in
- 32:07Speaker 4: year seventy three of his NFL career, if Keith Brooking
- 32:10Speaker 4: can be here, like everybody should be.
- 32:13Speaker 6: Here, the leaders, the vets, the guys with the skins
- 32:17Speaker 6: on the wall. They're the ones that can take it
- 32:19Speaker 6: from voluntary to mandatory just by tendance. Right, Yep, that's
- 32:22Speaker 6: exactly what you're talking about. All right, we will jelly
- 32:27Speaker 6: shots economics come.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Oh oh well, I mean before we did that, because
- 32:32Speaker 4: everybody's going to tune in for that. I mean I
- 32:37Speaker 4: put that in a very good way. Go to Elite

- 35:00Speaker 10: So all right, welcome back in OTB.
- 35:11Speaker 4: It is now time for me to turn it over
- 35:14Speaker 4: for some flnonomics.
- 35:16Speaker 6: Did you just make that up?
- 35:17Speaker 3: I did.
- 35:20Speaker 6: I'm trying to think if it's good or not. I
- 35:21Speaker 6: like it, like it's flnonomics.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Jello nomics did you know that Bobby Carpenter is a
- 35:28Speaker 4: professor of finance at the Ohio State University.
- 35:33Speaker 6: I actually didn't know he was a professor. Didn't know
- 35:36Speaker 6: of finance finance. Wow, yeah, good about that. I mean,
- 35:40Speaker 6: what a win for the meat heads. Good for hell. Well,
- 35:42Speaker 6: So started diving into this yesterday, like on the show,
- 35:45Speaker 6: just because I thought it'd be funny to see like
- 35:47Speaker 6: what the jello shots like actually cost as opposed to
- 35:51Speaker 6: like what they sell in the numbers, because like the
- 35:53Speaker 6: numbers are astronomical of the amount especially well, I'm thinking
- 35:58Speaker 6: about twenty twenty three. I know they were down last
- 36:00Speaker 6: year because LSU wasn't it, So we're basing all of
- 36:03Speaker 6: this on twenty twenty three. Like the economics involved on
- 36:06Speaker 6: this jealous jot, like what does it cost for them
- 36:09Speaker 6: for Rocos to actually produce that? And then what do
- 36:13Speaker 6: they make? So I think you were telling me, But
- 36:15Speaker 6: a lot of the proceeds are going to the charity,
- 36:18Speaker 6: right is that.
- 36:20Speaker 3: There's a portion of it. There's a big tors which
- 36:22Speaker 3: is awesome.
- 36:23Speaker 6: Yeah, Like so what what what Rocos has done and
- 36:26Speaker 6: what they did? And I know jealous shots were like
- 36:28Speaker 6: a thing there before, but it got blown out of
- 36:31Speaker 6: the out of the world in twenty twenty three L
- 36:34Speaker 6: Shoe because everywhere we go we drink out every place.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Oh for sure, I mean Vanderbilt Stadium, yep Rocos and
- 36:43Speaker 4: the jell O shot everywhere. I mean we could go
- 36:45Speaker 4: on and all like basically any like neutral site game, Like,
- 36:49Speaker 4: oh I was not familiar with your game.
- 36:51Speaker 6: Yeah, oh you only brought sorry bar, you only brought
- 36:54Speaker 6: thirty bottles of everything.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be gone.
- 36:57Speaker 4: If Lshue goes to the SEC championship game like the
- 37:01Speaker 4: team Hotel Bar, they're not ready ever.
- 37:04Speaker 6: All right, So let's take a look at these numbers. Taylor,
- 37:06Speaker 6: you got that spreadsheet. Check this bad boy out. Who
- 37:10Speaker 6: did an accounting firm to this? Nope, no, no, no, leader,
- 37:15Speaker 6: how I did it? All right? So what we're gonna do.
- 37:17Speaker 6: We're gonna go down just real real quickly. We're gonna
- 37:19Speaker 6: go over our cost of goods here to make a
- 37:21Speaker 6: jello shot, all right, how it goes? I got a
- 37:23Speaker 6: little recipe down there, Thank you chat GBT for giving
- 37:26Speaker 6: me that recipe real quickly. So we're looking at our
- 37:29Speaker 6: raw materials, our cost of goods, what it costs, what
- 37:32Speaker 6: it costs to make these things our costs. So we
- 37:35Speaker 6: look at it. We get these Jellow packet shots. We
- 37:38Speaker 6: got one Jellow packet I believe makes twenty you know,
- 37:42Speaker 6: makes sixteen ounces. One Jellow shot is one ounce. Okay,
- 37:46Speaker 6: so you're substituting a lot of the water with vodka.
- 37:49Speaker 6: It shows vodka here. I know maybe some places you're
- 37:52Speaker 6: just using like a wheat, like an ever Clear type situation,
- 37:54Speaker 6: just like a generic wheat alcohol. We won vodka for this,
- 37:57Speaker 6: all rightkay? So use about standard one uses about a
- 38:00Speaker 6: quarter of an ounce of vodka per shot. Now, it
- 38:04Speaker 6: depends on if you're making If Craig Steltz is making
- 38:06Speaker 6: them for a tailgate game, probably full ounce, right, but
- 38:09Speaker 6: I think a standard bar bars making about a quarter ounce. Here,
- 38:14Speaker 6: So we got I think we had needed total jello
- 38:19Speaker 6: boxes that you would get at a grocery store. I
- 38:22Speaker 6: think we need four. This is just for the LSU
- 38:24Speaker 6: numbers here, four, three and five boxes for those you
- 38:28Speaker 6: need sixty seven handles of vodka.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Okay, Actually it's not as not as many.
- 38:34Speaker 6: Because you're only using a quarter of an right now,
- 38:36Speaker 6: rocos I don't know what they do. They might be
- 38:38Speaker 6: using a half ounce, so we would couple that number
- 38:41Speaker 6: whatever you get it, so we can get these packaging
- 38:44Speaker 6: pretty good. I mean, you're getting these little cups for
- 38:46Speaker 6: like one point two cents apiece. You're getting the lid
- 38:48Speaker 6: for like one cent a piece. Then we start looking
- 38:52Speaker 6: at the labor. So chat GBT helped me with us
- 38:55Speaker 6: this bad boy. We look at these labor costs. All right,
- 38:58Speaker 6: So you got this Boiling water takes around five minutes, okay,
- 39:01Speaker 6: mixing the jello, let's just say it takes two minutes
- 39:03Speaker 6: pouring to the cups per batch. You're pouring a bunch
- 39:06Speaker 6: of cups like ten to fifteen minutes. It takes two
- 39:08Speaker 6: to four hours for these things to set. But we're
- 39:10Speaker 6: not counting that. We're not gonna wait. We're gonna make
- 39:12Speaker 6: another batch as soon as we're setting these things. Right now,
- 39:14Speaker 6: let's see. You know, it's got a reasonable set up
- 39:17Speaker 6: here based on pouring speeds. So we're saying that one
- 39:21Speaker 6: person in a seven hour day, which is a normally
- 39:23Speaker 6: eight hour shift, get an hour off to go peek,
- 39:25Speaker 6: get some lunch, blah blah blah. We're gonna make about
- 39:28Speaker 6: three hundred and sixty shots per hour per person. Okay,
- 39:30Speaker 6: Because site's gonna go into our cogs. That's gonna go
- 39:32Speaker 6: into our cost of goods, all right, So total cost
- 39:35Speaker 6: of goods for one jello shot seven and a half
- 39:39Speaker 6: cents for the jello okay, four point two cents for
- 39:42Speaker 6: the vodka, right, one point two cent for cup lids,
- 39:45Speaker 6: ten one cent labor about five and a half cents.
- 39:49Speaker 6: Now that's gonna be the big that's gonna be the
- 39:51Speaker 6: big gray area, right, because you might have a better worker,
- 39:53Speaker 6: you might have a little bit less of a worker.
- 39:56Speaker 6: So total total cogs per shot about twenty nine almost
- 40:01Speaker 6: thirty cents. Okay, Now this is using some pretty cheap vodka.
- 40:04Speaker 6: This is used in a handle, this can, this can
- 40:08Speaker 6: go all over the place.
- 40:09Speaker 3: And the top shelf.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly. So of course we got a sell price
- 40:12Speaker 6: for five dollars, right, so we're making it for thirty cents.
- 40:15Speaker 6: That includes the labor. What also included a little bit
- 40:18Speaker 6: of extra. I put ten and a half cents extra
- 40:22Speaker 6: just for if they have to rent it, like a
- 40:24Speaker 6: reefer cooler, a big refrigeration, maybe some extra bowls and withsts,
- 40:27Speaker 6: so just whatever. We just I just put ten thousand
- 40:30Speaker 6: dollars in there for extra stuff. Equipment or rentals. Right,
- 40:33Speaker 6: all right, So now let's let's take a look at
- 40:35Speaker 6: those cost of goods versus sell price for all of
- 40:38Speaker 6: the Jela shots in twenty twenty three, not just SELU
- 40:40Speaker 6: SU everybody. Obviously LSU by far is leading the way.
- 40:44Speaker 6: That's what we got on this little pink graph over
- 40:46Speaker 6: here on the right.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Florida TCU way for its Virginia totals.
- 40:50Speaker 6: They sold ninety five thousand, thirty Jello shots in the
- 40:54Speaker 6: twenty twenty three College World Series. Total revenue on that
- 40:59Speaker 6: four hundred and seven tventy five thousand, one hundred and
- 41:02Speaker 6: fifty dollars at selling for five cents apiece. Total cost
- 41:06Speaker 6: of goods on those jelly shots with everything we talked about,
- 41:10Speaker 6: twenty eight thousand, four hundred and thirty five dollars in
- 41:13Speaker 6: eighty five cents. Now, this is all speculation. I'm not
- 41:16Speaker 6: telling you this is not from Rocos. It might be
- 41:19Speaker 6: a lot more than this, But based on my little
- 41:22Speaker 6: bit of research, when I think their wholesale costs on
- 41:25Speaker 6: everything laving out the labor, we got a total gross
- 41:29Speaker 6: profit before they're overhead gross profit four hundred forty six thousand,
- 41:34Speaker 6: seven hundred and fourteen dollars and thirteen cents, all because
- 41:38Speaker 6: LSU came into town. So that is the economic boom
- 41:41Speaker 6: that Omaha can expect. That's the economic boom that Rock
- 41:45Speaker 6: goes in all the other surrounding areas. Credit to them
- 41:48Speaker 6: for building the brand, executing the brand, and also knowing
- 41:53Speaker 6: what they're doing and also giving a lot to charity.
- 41:55Speaker 6: So credit to them. Count man for one hundred that
- 41:59Speaker 6: one hundred hundred.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Okay, my heist and in one hundred shots. That's why
- 42:03Speaker 3: we said great work. By the way, I mean great numbers.
- 42:07Speaker 3: That's why we said.
- 42:08Speaker 4: When Chase Shores had the third strike, nobody, not even
- 42:12Speaker 4: like Jay Johnson's wife, not even the player's moms, were
- 42:17Speaker 4: as excited as Rocos in the ownership group.
- 42:20Speaker 6: There four hundred and forty six thousand dollars profit after
- 42:25Speaker 6: all their cost expenses. And that's me juicing a couple
- 42:28Speaker 6: of numbers as well.
- 42:29Speaker 5: Yeah mhm, what well, he's gonna say something. I'm like,
- 42:35Speaker 5: let's go to break because we're gonna have another.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Look. We're consistent, Okay, we are consistent.
- 42:40Speaker 7: Needs to be consistently better.
- 42:42Speaker 3: We're consistently Probably not.
- 42:44Speaker 6: It could have gone in less details let's go more
- 42:46Speaker 6: OTB when we.
- 42:50Speaker 3: She just early stabbed me.
- 42:52Speaker 6: Yeah, get your ass moving, boy.
- 42:55Speaker 3: I mean, dude, what it's like. It's part of the show.
- 42:57Speaker 4: It's a fabric of who you are exactly, just like
- 43:02Speaker 4: the fabric of this show is great companies like trash Rangers,
- 43:07Speaker 4: trash Rangers, dot Com, Amazing two T five three six
- 43:10Speaker 4: three nine zero five three, residential, commercial service, rolloff dumpsters,

- 43:18Speaker 4: Look, simplify your trash disposal with trash Rangers, no hidden fees,

- 44:32Speaker 6: Y'all for a few days.
- 44:33Speaker 7: Just kidding, you're gonna forget about it.
- 44:35Speaker 6: I just kidding. I told Jake, I'm gonna try to
- 44:36Speaker 6: I'm gonna try to know you're not. I was gonna
- 44:38Speaker 6: try to FaceTime in from the plane, FaceTime dollars WiFi
- 44:44Speaker 6: about that twenty dollars Wi Fi on the plane and
- 44:46Speaker 6: then it like doesn't even work?
- 44:48Speaker 3: Is long enough, long enough?
- 44:50Speaker 6: But there's sometimes I get on a fight for a
- 44:52Speaker 6: work driven, like I gotta do emails because it's during
- 44:54Speaker 6: like midday on a Tuesday.
- 44:56Speaker 9: I don't think there's anything on a plane i'd pay
- 44:58Speaker 9: twenty bucks for.
- 44:58Speaker 3: I paid the Wi Fi on three and a half
- 45:00Speaker 3: hour Cali flight.
- 45:01Speaker 6: If they were like, I'm not row dog in a flight, No,
- 45:05Speaker 6: I can't.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Won't do it. As the bench favorite vodka, I don't know.
- 45:11Speaker 7: I'm not a vodka person. I guess Tito's.
- 45:15Speaker 3: That's the most popular one.
- 45:17Speaker 9: Usually is a big one.
- 45:19Speaker 6: My wife and I did a blind vodka like a
- 45:22Speaker 6: martini taste test. We did like the four popular ones,
- 45:26Speaker 6: and kettle one actually won in the blindest work for
- 45:30Speaker 6: for a specific martini.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Tito's usually uh, let's see ass the bench favorite shot.
- 45:37Speaker 7: It's just good old tequila.
- 45:39Speaker 6: I mean, I think I ever like stick to the basics,
- 45:41Speaker 6: whiskey basics that tequila basics ice called firebomb.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Maybe you lemon drops, Yeah, it feels.
- 45:49Speaker 6: Right for lemon drop.
