- 0:01So I have a, I have a Blog, you know, article, it's titled the
- 0:05top five recruitment trends for 2023.
- 0:12I have thoughts. I don't disagree.
- 0:17I'm just going to add a fuel, a few more thoughts on to these
- 0:20top five here. I'll try to go through them
- 0:22quickly. The first one is says the
- 0:26emergence of employer branding couple of things here.
- 0:34Some of some of the fault. Some of the folks associated
- 0:37with Beyond brain on the product side, we had a long talk,
- 0:42probably 34 our talk. I'd say around Christmas first,
- 0:50second week in January And I'll be very honest with you, that
- 0:55talk was not exciting. It was not, it was not fun, it
- 0:58was not, it was not an energy, generating conversation.
- 1:04We were discussing the state of the world.
- 1:09And how disappointing it is. You know, I'll be very, I'll be
- 1:14very loanable right now, you know, my mother.
- 1:17The woman that I love my family, there with me.
- 1:24The the the climate here financially in Maryland is
- 1:27getting to a very high uncomfortable level and degree.
- 1:33It's it's very odd. So you know, there's there's a
- 1:37lot of things happening, things like that, that are very
- 1:40personal. So I blanked out for a minute
- 1:41there because it's near and dear to my heart, but personal
- 1:45situations like that, just even even going deeper into that.
- 1:50Just the state of the real estate market today.
- 1:52It's just outrageous, people are losing their jobs, companies are
- 1:57shuffling, Andre shifting and navigating, and the worlds that
- 2:01are you know the the racial climate Climate the world's in
- 2:05an interesting spot, very difficult spot.
- 2:08Very uncomfortable spot. And so when I open up this
- 2:13article I thought to myself. I said why would the emergence
- 2:17of employer branding? Be the first one but then it hit
- 2:20me immediately. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
- 2:25I thought to myself. it's probably going to be number one,
- 2:30because America is going to get out of this.
- 2:34Like I don't mean to put my motivational cap on but that's
- 2:37just legit legitimately how America is structured.
- 2:41We are going to see this through My mother is going to be okay.
- 2:46I'm going to be okay. The world's going to be okay,
- 2:48we're we are Fighters were Innovative innovators who are
- 2:52thinkers and let's just call it what it is.
- 2:54American can print money. But that's besides the point
- 2:57now, I don't want to get political.
- 2:58My point is There will be another side to this, and I
- 3:03think there's some small data showing the other side of this
- 3:07may be coming sooner than later. and so, if that's the case,
- 3:13Let's think about the core definition of employer branding.
- 3:15What? It's what it's really used for.
- 3:19So many applicants across the world are going to be looking at
- 3:23each and every company with a very odd Keen.
- 3:28Submissive, maybe that's a bad word to use.
- 3:32Judgmental, curious, and hesitant, I They're going to be
- 3:39thinking to themselves, what's the financial climate of this
- 3:42company? Which the Rome at financially of
- 3:45this company. What's the what's the experience
- 3:49internally like the feelings? In the company.
- 3:52What does it feel like to work here emotionally?
- 3:56Psychology wise, what's happening with like core HR?
- 4:00Best practices Bar. None employees.
- 4:04Are more educated about the importance of having at least a
- 4:07healthy workplace more than ever before.
- 4:10It is, it is at its peak. It's a non-negotiable and so
- 4:18many other elements. So so companies are in a very
- 4:21uncertain space right now. And so if that's the case, then
- 4:26then then I would agree that top him that that employer expects,
- 4:31employer branding would be number one because if that's the
- 4:33case, if the world is looking at your company and wondering, what
- 4:37the hell is this company been doing over the last 12 months,
- 4:40what state is this company in? There's someone is of a very
- 4:44high level. Talented individual is nervous
- 4:46about that, they're going to choose this safer company.
- 4:49Even though it may not be the better company.
- 4:52So you as an organization needs to take employer branding
- 4:55seriously and say, you know what, not only not only are we
- 4:58going to let you know what type of company we are, but we're
- 5:00going to do so authentically. Authentically.
- 5:06Because applicants are looking at you, like, what is happening
- 5:09in the world? What is happening at this
- 5:11company? I heard this, I heard that my
- 5:13mother and my cousin, my brother.
- 5:15My my, the old colleague that I used to work with that, I
- 5:18thought, I knew what hot like everyone that I know has been
- 5:21saying a few things about the workforce in, particularly this
- 5:25company. What's Happening Here?
- 5:29What's their overall state of important of view on black
- 5:32lives? Matter movement?
- 5:33What's been happening with them? Financially is, their
- 5:36opportunities? Here?
- 5:38Are they want to kind of operational growth freeze for a
- 5:40second. What is happening?
- 5:44And so yeah I would agree with this because it's it'll be so
- 5:48important for you. Probably in the middle of this
- 5:51year toward definitely towards the back, end of 20:23
- 5:55re-establishing Who You Are. kind of like when a celebrity
- 6:01goes through a really tough moment in their life and they do
- 6:04like this like marketing PR campaign to like get everyone
- 6:07back on their side, companies are going to have to do that but
- 6:10authentically They're going to have to utilize every facet of
- 6:18what I believe they're going to have to utilize things like top.
- 6:21Employer to really do an audit to understand what they're
- 6:24actually like to understand and make sure they're doing it
- 6:26operationally. We're gonna have to use Beyond
- 6:32brand to communicate honestly. Allow a third party lens to
- 6:37infiltrate what you're doing because there is no and flirt re
- 6:40infiltration. It's only just magnifying and
- 6:43identifying and promoting what's already great and things that
- 6:47are not so great. To just being honest.
- 6:51Utilizing tools and Technology, like Jammer being thoughtful
- 6:56about where you are looking for this town.
- 7:00The point that I'm making is, I would agree with this 20:23
- 7:05middle to the back, half the focus, and the dedication around
- 7:10employer branding and rewriting. Your story as an organization is
- 7:14going to be incredibly important. and the in the
- 7:21companies that do that are going to be the companies that attract
- 7:24really high-level town, The second one here is data driven
- 7:29recruiting. I would again, agree.
- 7:33I think we're seeing that with products and tools like almonds.
- 7:40It's you want to start being smarter when it comes to
- 7:45recruiting, if you can. Now I've owned the record of
- 7:49having more of a garyvee approach, anyone that knows Gary
- 7:52hordes, real business context. He is someone that says gut feel
- 7:56fast, hire Fast, Fire fast, people make mistakes, you know,
- 8:00contextualize experience all the greatest things that, you know,
- 8:03are in my core. But as I've gotten older and
- 8:07wiser, I will admit there's a way to use your gut, but do so
- 8:12in a more thoughtful way. You could totally be hiring
- 8:17someone, that's a great fit, a great gut feel and just do it
- 8:21fast because you like, you know what, I can move them out faster
- 8:24if you know, whatever the case is, right.
- 8:26But that person could could fit technically strategically
- 8:31skill-based wise for your company but you know, what can
- 8:34be not a right factor for you. Their perspectives and behavior.
- 8:40And I don't mean Peggy - Behavior positive behavior.
- 8:44What I mean by that is literally what they want to do when an
- 8:4718-month window in comparison to what you actually have as an
- 8:51offering organizationally within an 18-month window there.
- 8:54Just might be a delineation there.
- 8:58There may be a moment in time on the lnd side or the career
- 9:03mapping side that they're looking for within 18 months
- 9:06that you just simply cannot provide and that is okay.
- 9:11But having a process of Technology, a tool to extract
- 9:15that data and communicate that data and story, tell that data,
- 9:17and be honest about that data is amazing.
- 9:23So I would agree. It'll allow you to make it more
- 9:26thoughtful decision. When recruiting Relying on AI
- 9:32powered recruitment again. Been talking about this whole
- 9:36episode. Let's keep going.
- 9:37I agree with this. The rise of the proactive
- 9:40recruiter. I would agree with that a lot.
- 9:44I would agree with that a lot, I think.
- 9:50I think being a proactive, recruiter means a couple things,
- 9:54I think it means as an organization, the employer
- 9:57branding of HR teams given being given the money.
- 10:01The credibility, the the capability, Of of communicating
- 10:08and doing what they do from a recruiting perspective, like the
- 10:13media side of the business. Like, I would say, just as much
- 10:16energy that you put into hiring your media company.
- 10:19Internally, like if your shoe company right now, if your
- 10:22clothing Bear right now, you have a lot of money and video.
- 10:24You have a lot of money and production, you're a lot of
- 10:26money on the edge, but inside on the creative side and the visual
- 10:29the visual side. You have a lot of money, so your
- 10:31company can look and feel cool. All that money and power and
- 10:35energy. Proactively should be spent
- 10:38within your recruiting teams. Your you should have recruiters
- 10:42being paid to just be great relationship.
- 10:45Builders there should be a kpi connected to it.
- 10:48Let's not put them in this window and boxing this time or
- 10:51they have to fill a certain quota.
- 10:53Of course, there will always be a certain number that you wishes
- 10:55that you wish and want them to to hit.
- 10:59But why don't you congratulate them and give them ten thousand
- 11:02dollar bonuses for building deep meaningful relationships.
- 11:07That lead to potential opportunities.
- 11:09In 12 to 18-month windows. I'm a big bang guy.
- 11:14I'd rather work something hard and look on the other side and
- 11:17it's 30. Great, there's 30 catered is
- 11:1915K. There's there 60k.
- 11:21There's 100K I'd rather plant a seed for 10 years for million 2
- 11:25million 3 million dollar opportunities.
- 11:30Quick wins are just as important, but I get it.
- 11:32But at the end of the day, you want your recruiters to be a
- 11:34little bit more. Proactive plant seeds, be
- 11:38aggressive, be thoughtful. Last thing, a develop d&i
- 11:43strategy. I love this freaking article, I
- 11:45love this freaking article, I'm reaching, I love this freaking
- 11:48article. I love this freaking article.
- 11:51This article is high level. This is a and when I say it's
- 11:54high level, I just mean it's accurate.
- 11:57It's easy to comprehend. It develop, dni strategy, 1000%,
- 12:04it's why companies and tools like that virtual exist?
- 12:08Period. Period.
- 12:14Dni is no longer in its infancy stage.
- 12:17It is, it is evolving. It is growing, it is developing.
- 12:22Money tools, research, energy, passion.
- 12:26All of these things need to be supported in back by.
- 12:31A develop dni strategy, for me, starts with things like that,
- 12:35virtual knowing how you're going to organize and process,
- 12:40everything that you're doing. Right.
- 12:45Knowing how you're going to do that?
- 12:48Knowing where everything is in one place and having it in one
- 12:52place. The point is, there's a lot of
- 12:59good work here, that should be and can be and will be done.
- 13:03I'm very excited to be a part of it.
- 13:06So this is a great article. Let me see what's in that by
- 13:11Katie collman of Circa Objectively great, simple, easy
- 13:19and accurate. That is always just a few
- 13:22thoughts. Just a few perspectives, we'll
