- 0:00Speaker 1: It was absolutely just crazy. I probably never felt that
- 0:05Speaker 1: much pain in my entire life than that experience, which
- 0:11Speaker 1: was crazy. I mean, I had needles everywhere in my
- 0:16Speaker 1: hands and my arms. I had hooked up to all
- 0:19Speaker 1: sorts of bags. And yeah, it was quite an experience.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I wasn't really... seeing light at the end of the
- 0:29Speaker 1: tunnel at one point, but Friday morning waking up, I
- 0:32Speaker 1: was like, oh my gosh, like I finally feel somewhat better.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Welcome to Whatever It Takes with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and I am So thrilled to be back reunited with Carly.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's been a couple weeks off because she was busy
- 0:59Speaker 2: with a new baby, and I will let Carly give
- 1:03Speaker 2: the intro of who we're introducing, but I just have
- 1:05Speaker 2: to say I'm so happy to be back with you.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I truly have missed our chats. I know. You said
- 1:10Speaker 1: two weeks. It kind of felt longer than that, to
- 1:13Speaker 1: be honest. Yes, and a lot has happened. A lot
- 1:16Speaker 1: has happened. We'll get into that. It's been a you know,
- 1:19Speaker 1: a little bit of a rough, rough journey. But I
- 1:23Speaker 1: am back, and it's good to be back. And yes,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I missed our chats. I know you had a solo
- 1:29Speaker 1: one without me, so I'm looking forward to listening to
- 1:31Speaker 1: that one as well. I appreciate it.
- 1:33Speaker 2: It was all about time management, and I can report
- 1:35Speaker 2: back that I've made some progress. So the lists continue,
- 1:40Speaker 2: but she was wonderful, and I'm excited for you to listen.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But I prefer to do this with you. I appreciate that.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You take your time, but I much... would rather be
- 1:50Speaker 2: sitting with you and chatting with you. And Carly, I
- 1:53Speaker 2: want you to introduce who's here, but I also have
- 1:55Speaker 2: to say, I know it was not the easiest of deliveries.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So whatever you feel like sharing or don't want to share, please,
- 2:01Speaker 2: you know, this is kind of up to you, but
- 2:04Speaker 2: we're just so happy you're here.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And may I also say you're glowing right now. So
- 2:09Speaker 1: what's going on? It kind of worked out perfectly that
- 2:13Speaker 1: we had some new newborn photos done today. So my
- 2:17Speaker 1: wonderful makeup artist, hair and makeup artist, Liz, came down
- 2:21Speaker 1: from New York, from Brooklyn, did my hair and makeup
- 2:25Speaker 1: because I've, I've needed, I've needed some help since it's
- 2:30Speaker 1: been very rough to say the least. But yeah, look, we're,
- 2:35Speaker 1: we're here. We're healthy hunters, healthy as can be. I
- 2:39Speaker 1: am back, but yeah, it was not ideal. Not ideal.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Not ideal.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I mean, shout out, Liz, because you do not look
- 2:50Speaker 2: like you've been through it, even though I know you have.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So we'll give her that because if anyone needs anyone
- 2:55Speaker 2: in New York City, Liz is your gal. You are
- 2:58Speaker 2: you look incredible, but I do know it was a lot.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So I mean, we were texting. I would maybe we
- 3:03Speaker 2: could just start from the beginning if that's cool with you.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And I don't remember when we stopped down from recording
- 3:10Speaker 2: how you.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Were close to your due date. I was. I think
- 3:14Speaker 1: I was. Yeah, I don't know if I was maybe
- 3:17Speaker 1: a week away. September 17th was actual due date. And obviously,
- 3:22Speaker 1: when you do an embryo transfer, you pretty much kind
- 3:26Speaker 1: of know when your due date is going to be,
- 3:29Speaker 1: although it's still a guesstimate. So yeah, I was all prepared.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I was ready. I had my hair done. My nails
- 3:36Speaker 1: were done. But this baby just didn't want to come
- 3:41Speaker 1: right away. So you know, you have all the appointments.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I had the weekly appointments at this point, doing the
- 3:48Speaker 1: non-stress tests, going in there because of my age and just,
- 3:53Speaker 1: you know, the varying factors of that. And for me,
- 3:58Speaker 1: you know, I think the hardest part was, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 1: with Harper, I wanted to naturally try to give birth, right?
- 4:08Speaker 1: You know, you don't want to go through all the
- 4:11Speaker 1: inductions and the Pitocin and the epidural and all those things.
- 4:15Speaker 1: And it wasn't just to test how strong I was
- 4:19Speaker 1: as a human being to naturally deliver a baby. It,
- 4:23Speaker 1: for me, the recovery process from what I've heard is
- 4:27Speaker 1: a lot easier and, you know, and things go, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 1: a lot quicker. So that obviously didn't happen with Harper.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I stuck it out for probably 24 hours too long
- 4:39Speaker 1: without an epidural and Was doing all of the things,
- 4:42Speaker 1: the cook balloon, the Pitocin, trying everything, a bath, until
- 4:48Speaker 1: finally the epidural came into play. And I slept a
- 4:51Speaker 1: couple hours, felt great. It was heaven. And then, you know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: next thing you know, we're progressing. Pushed her out in
- 4:59Speaker 1: 30 minutes. Okay. We were good to go. So with Harper,
- 5:03Speaker 1: I had a really painful labor, but a pretty easy delivery. Interesting. again,
- 5:12Speaker 1: not easy per se, but minimal tearing. And yeah, just
- 5:18Speaker 1: my postpartum was way different than what it was this
- 5:22Speaker 1: time around. So this time around, obviously my age, 44,
- 5:28Speaker 1: was going past 40 weeks. So my OB and midwife
- 5:33Speaker 1: were getting a little bit concerned. They didn't want to
- 5:36Speaker 1: go past 41 weeks. So when I went to the
- 5:39Speaker 1: doctors on that Monday, which was, I don't even remember
- 5:44Speaker 1: the date. I can go back into my calendar. The
- 5:49Speaker 1: Monday of the due date? Yes. So the 21st, September 21st,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I had an appointment. Okay. They checked to see if
- 5:59Speaker 1: I was dilated because I had been having some you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: period-like cramps over the weekend. And I finally thought that
- 6:06Speaker 1: my body was kind of kick-starting into labor. And I
- 6:10Speaker 1: went in and I was one centimeter dilated. So I
- 6:14Speaker 1: had been one centimeter dilated pretty much for about a
- 6:17Speaker 1: week and a half. My cervix was only like 50 percent.
- 6:22Speaker 1: What did they say?
- 6:23Speaker 2: Faced or something they call it. That sounds a fancy
- 6:26Speaker 2: word I wouldn't know, but I know what you mean.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So it was not as far as long as we hoped.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So after that appointment, my OB and midwife group, they
- 6:37Speaker 1: had a plan and they wanted to induce me. And,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you know, hearing those words, you know, I know that
- 6:43Speaker 1: to each their own. Some women are all for it.
- 6:46Speaker 1: They schedule it. They want it. You know, for me,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I'm just kind of like, man, like, here we go again.
- 6:52Speaker 1: My water broke a bit earlier with Harper. I went in,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I wasn't dilated. And then here we are again, this
- 6:59Speaker 1: baby doesn't want to come out. I'm not dilated. And
- 7:02Speaker 1: now I have to get induced and go through that
- 7:04Speaker 1: kind of that whole process again. But at the end
- 7:08Speaker 1: of the day, I just want to deliver a healthy baby.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So I trusted my group and I said, okay, here
- 7:13Speaker 1: we go. Right. And it kind of gave us a
- 7:16Speaker 1: little bit more of clarity and scheduling and figuring out
- 7:21Speaker 1: my parents coming over, being able to watch Harper, all
- 7:24Speaker 1: these things. So on the Tuesday, which was the September 22nd,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I was basically waiting for a call. I was scheduled
- 7:35Speaker 1: to be induced that night around 7 p.m. or go
- 7:38Speaker 1: in there around 7 p.m., but pending beds and all
- 7:42Speaker 1: of that. So I hadn't heard from anybody and I
- 7:46Speaker 1: was waiting and waiting and And then I finally heard
- 7:50Speaker 1: from someone. I finally was like, okay, I'm just going
- 7:53Speaker 1: to go to bed. Yeah. That's scary. Yeah, very.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Weird.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And my parents had been at our house, thankfully, because
- 8:01Speaker 1: I had, basically, when you're scheduled to be induced, or
- 8:06Speaker 1: at least this is how it is at our hospital,
- 8:10Speaker 1: you have to be brought in within 24 hours. So
- 8:14Speaker 1: I knew at least 24 hours I'd be brought in
- 8:16Speaker 1: at some point. But at 1130 at night, I get
- 8:20Speaker 1: a call saying that there's a bed that opened up.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Would I like to come in? And I'm like, I mean,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I think so. I mean, I didn't know there was
- 8:27Speaker 1: an option.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Weird.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I didn't know that. Yeah, really, really bizarre. And so,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you know, gather my things. Brian gets his things. We
- 8:37Speaker 1: leave the house and I go in. And so I
- 8:41Speaker 1: basically was doing 12 hours of Cervidil, which is something
- 8:47Speaker 1: they put up. by your cervix to help thin it and,
- 8:52Speaker 1: you know, speed up the process. So it was just
- 8:55Speaker 1: all about hanging out for those 12 hours. You know,
- 8:58Speaker 1: they come in, they take your vitals, do all those things.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And after the 12 hours, I really wasn't dilated much
- 9:06Speaker 1: at all. So the next step was to do the
- 9:09Speaker 1: cook balloon, which there's a lot of people that have
- 9:13Speaker 1: heard of that. Now with Harper, I didn't have an
- 9:15Speaker 1: epidural when that was put in. which people say that
- 9:19Speaker 1: that's absolutely pretty insane because it is very painful. I
- 9:23Speaker 1: had it in for 14 hours. You can leave that
- 9:27Speaker 1: in for up to 15. It should fall out itself,
- 9:31Speaker 1: but it's basically balloons that they inject with saline that
- 9:38Speaker 1: are supposed to help open up your cervix again. That's crazy. Crazy.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So I learned my lesson. I elected for the epidural
- 9:49Speaker 1: before we did all of these things. So I had
- 9:51Speaker 1: the epidural and then had the cook balloon in. I
- 9:56Speaker 1: think that was in for maybe about four hours. It
- 9:59Speaker 1: actually came out. out and maybe got me to three
- 10:03Speaker 1: centimeters or so. So again, kind of slowly progressing through.
- 10:10Speaker 1: And then it was just a waiting game. You know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: the Pitocin was kicking in. Again, I was pain-free this labor.
- 10:17Speaker 1: You were pain-free.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Epidural was working great. Doing the job. Just hanging out, waiting.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And this labor, so with Harper, it was about 36 hours.
- 10:29Speaker 1: With Hunter, it was about 31 hours. So, yeah, like
- 10:35Speaker 1: I said, just kind of hanging out, letting things marinate, waiting.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And then I started to progress. And obviously the nurse
- 10:43Speaker 1: comes in, they're changing your position, they're putting, you know,
- 10:46Speaker 1: a ball in. in between your legs or doing all
- 10:49Speaker 1: sorts of things just to continuously try to open things up.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And things started to kind of progress towards the end. My,
- 11:00Speaker 1: my one OB, um, it's kind of, I mean, kind
- 11:03Speaker 1: of a funny story. She actually lives close to the hospital.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So she went home to take a shower. Um, at
- 11:10Speaker 1: this point she had heard that I was like five,
- 11:13Speaker 1: six centimeters. So there was really no rush. Okay. So
- 11:17Speaker 1: then my midwife is there with Brian and one of
- 11:22Speaker 1: the other nurses. So it's the three of them in
- 11:24Speaker 1: the room. And she's like, whoa, you know, I think
- 11:27Speaker 1: you're progressing pretty quickly. I think you can start pushing.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So she had texted my OB, you know, pushing. So she's,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you know, scooting over, trying to get over there faster.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And I start pushing. And... we realized that Hunter's shoulder
- 11:50Speaker 1: was getting stuck. It was underneath like one of my,
- 11:54Speaker 1: like the one side of my cervix. That's crazy. So
- 11:57Speaker 1: every time I would push, his heart rate would be okay.
- 12:01Speaker 1: But then his head would go back in and his
- 12:04Speaker 1: heart rate was dropping. So that was continuously happening, which
- 12:10Speaker 1: was really scary. And yeah, At this point, you could
- 12:15Speaker 1: kind of, I could kind of sense that there was
- 12:18Speaker 1: something not right. Okay. All of a sudden, a flood
- 12:23Speaker 1: of people come in. The NICU team comes in.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Wow.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You know, whether somebody was told or there was a
- 12:29Speaker 1: button pushed, I had, you know, and I don't really
- 12:33Speaker 1: recall a lot of this just because, you know, you're
- 12:36Speaker 1: focusing on pushing and it's brutal. Gives me the chills.
- 12:39Speaker 1: That's scary. Yeah, very scary.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:43Speaker 1: The next thing I know, I see Brian kind of
- 12:45Speaker 1: like nearly passed out on the couch. What was it from... Sorry, Brian,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but like what about the experience?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Was it the amount of people? Did it suddenly overwhelm him?
- 12:57Speaker 2: Scary in a way?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, because it just went from... It happened quick. You know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: we're just going to start pushing to so many things
- 13:06Speaker 1: escalating with so many different people. I had a nurse
- 13:10Speaker 1: kind of like... push him out of the way. Again,
- 13:14Speaker 1: this was kind of being told to me after the fact,
- 13:17Speaker 1: to push on my stomach, on the outside of my stomach,
- 13:22Speaker 1: on the opposite side of where Hunter was stuck, to
- 13:24Speaker 1: try to manipulate him as I'm pushing to get him out.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And then the next thing you know, since my OB,
- 13:34Speaker 1: the midwife can't use forceps, My OB could have used forceps,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but she was running into the delivery room. I see.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Didn't even have like her proper shoes on. She kicked
- 13:47Speaker 1: off her, you know, personal shoes. Obviously, she didn't want
- 13:50Speaker 1: them to get bloody. And she came in and, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 1: just started obviously like working hands on. But they had
- 13:58Speaker 1: already called another doctor in to use the forceps. And
- 14:02Speaker 1: she came in and basically... said, we need to get
- 14:06Speaker 1: this baby out like right away. So, you know, from
- 14:10Speaker 1: that point on, you're like, okay, there's something like not right.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And I was having to still push through all this.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So I remember looking at my midwife saying like, you know,
- 14:21Speaker 1: anytime anyone hears something about forceps, you get freaked out.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But I had the best of the best team on,
- 14:31Speaker 1: you know, the Dr. Zender, who was the one who
- 14:34Speaker 1: ended up using the forceps, I think with one try,
- 14:40Speaker 1: got him out along with my push. And yeah, he
- 14:46Speaker 1: came out and He was, um, perfectly fine. And yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I mean, it was, and, and, you know, I lost
- 14:55Speaker 1: a lot of blood. I mean, I lost probably almost
- 14:58Speaker 1: a liter of blood. I think they say in a C-section,
- 15:01Speaker 1: you maybe, you lose like 500 liters. Um, so a
- 15:07Speaker 1: lot of blood, a lot of manipulation, a lot of, um,
- 15:12Speaker 1: making sure that everything came out of my uterus so
- 15:16Speaker 1: I don't hemorrhage. And he was a big boy. He
- 15:19Speaker 1: was 9'3. Huge. Unbelievable. How big was Harper? 5'14, but
- 15:25Speaker 1: she also had a two-vessel cord, so she was tinier.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I mean, he was a week late, but I mean, yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 1: That's huge. Huge. Huge. I was 9'9.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I think my mom had forceps on me, so I think,
- 15:41Speaker 2: I hope that provides.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Confirmation that all will be okay. You seem totally fine.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I think so. Now, I have been told that they
- 15:53Speaker 1: do use them differently now. I think before they used them,
- 15:58Speaker 1: it was too high up, you know, in the pelvis,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I guess. Now they wait, I guess, until the head is...
- 16:09Speaker 1: you know, down lower and whatnot. But the doctor was like, look,
- 16:13Speaker 1: if we can't get them out with the forceps, they're
- 16:14Speaker 1: going to have to vacuum them out. I'm like, oh
- 16:16Speaker 1: my gosh, you know, so. Wow.
- 16:18Speaker 2: So the shoulder being stuck, was that, could that have, like,
- 16:24Speaker 2: could you have ever known that? There's no way of
- 16:26Speaker 2: knowing until you start pushing.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think so. And I think hindsight 2020,
- 16:31Speaker 1: you know, I was talking with my OB and she said,
- 16:35Speaker 1: you know, It was probably ignorance is bliss because I
- 16:39Speaker 1: guess if they maybe knew that he was this big
- 16:42Speaker 1: and the whole situation and everything, I probably would have
- 16:46Speaker 1: had a C-section. So true. You know, but thankfully, I mean,
- 16:50Speaker 1: everything went according to plan, and he came out, and
- 16:55Speaker 1: he was healthy, and I just couldn't believe, like, how big.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I was like, no wonder why my back hurt. And
- 17:03Speaker 2: the heart rate was okay once he came out?
- 17:06Speaker 1: Heart rate was good. Okay. Because that's what I think
- 17:09Speaker 1: you were texting me. That's always just so scary. Yeah.
- 17:13Speaker 1: It was one of those things where when you're hearing
- 17:16Speaker 1: the doctor saying, like, we need to get this baby
- 17:20Speaker 1: out now. It's, it's not very comforting hearing that, you know?
- 17:24Speaker 1: So yeah. And, and Brian was just, you know, I
- 17:28Speaker 1: know we, we talk about the mom and, you know, and,
- 17:32Speaker 1: and all of that, but the husbands and the spouses,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know, your support system, I mean, it's, it's just
- 17:40Speaker 1: as traumatic if not more because they're seeing more. And
- 17:45Speaker 1: he saw a lot, you know, and just everybody there
- 17:49Speaker 1: and what was happening. And yeah, he's like, I can't
- 17:52Speaker 1: even talk about it. I'm still like, it's still traumatizing
- 17:56Speaker 1: to me.
- 17:57Speaker 2: It's almost like you said, you're almost unaware in the
- 18:00Speaker 2: moment because you're in it.
- 18:02Speaker 1: You're pushing. Yes, you're aware of who's in the room,
- 18:06Speaker 1: but it's just you kind of get in a zone. Oh, yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 2: And poor Brian had to kind of be there. able
- 18:13Speaker 2: to receive everyone and make sure you're okay and figure
- 18:17Speaker 2: out what was happening.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Like, that's a really scary thing for any partner. Very. Okay. Well,
- 18:24Speaker 1: give Brian a hug, too. I know. I know. So, yeah,
- 18:28Speaker 1: it was, you know, I think what I've learned, I mean,
- 18:32Speaker 1: it's just like life. You can have a plan. You
- 18:36Speaker 1: can envision something going a certain way, and you just
- 18:41Speaker 1: don't know.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:43Speaker 1: You've got to pivot. You've got to adapt. I've done
- 18:46Speaker 1: some good things in my life. You know, I delivered
- 18:49Speaker 1: two healthy babies, which is great, but I just do
- 18:53Speaker 1: not labor and deliver very well. So my pregnancies were
- 18:58Speaker 1: very smooth and easy. Yeah, you still like, well, it's okay.
- 19:03Speaker 1: You can't win them all, Carly. Yeah, I know. I'm like,
- 19:08Speaker 1: I've literally experienced pretty much, and again, you know, I
- 19:13Speaker 1: don't want this to, um, you know, there, there's so
- 19:17Speaker 1: many other people that have been through horrific things, um,
- 19:21Speaker 1: more traumatizing things than this. So I, I don't want
- 19:24Speaker 1: to like, act like my situation is, yeah, I mean, it's, it, it,
- 19:30Speaker 1: it's traumatizing and, and it's hard and, um, yeah, it's
- 19:35Speaker 1: not something that I envisioned was going to go the
- 19:38Speaker 1: way that it did, but I experienced a lot in
- 19:42Speaker 1: two pregnancies. Two pregnancies and we're only at the delivery part.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Like we haven't even gotten to the aftermath.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah. I just want to say, don't give yourself a
- 19:53Speaker 2: hard time because I would say it's incredible what you
- 19:58Speaker 2: just did with both Harper and Hunter.
- 20:00Speaker 1: And it's incredible every single time. And it's true. It
- 20:03Speaker 1: is complicated and sometimes it's easy and it's different for everyone,
- 20:06Speaker 1: but like you did it.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Like, It all was worth it for that little guy
- 20:12Speaker 2: who I know is sleeping next to you, but it
- 20:14Speaker 2: still doesn't take away the trauma and the emotion of
- 20:21Speaker 2: all of it. And I know you're still very much
- 20:24Speaker 2: in it. Yeah. It might be nice to take a
- 20:27Speaker 2: quick break and let you reset and check on Hunter.
- 20:31Speaker 1: How's Harper doing? Quickly, let's give her a little love.
- 20:34Speaker 1: How's she adjusting? Harper's doing great. Yeah, she was fantastic
- 20:38Speaker 1: with our photo shoot today. She's good. She's warming up
- 20:42Speaker 1: to Hunter. And yeah, she's a good one. We'll check
- 20:46Speaker 1: on them. We'll take a quick break.
- 20:47Speaker 2: And then I'd love to hear just how everything went
- 20:51Speaker 2: after delivery. You went home and then unfortunately you did
- 20:54Speaker 2: have to to head back. So we'll take a quick
- 20:57Speaker 2: break and we'll be back with Carly's story. Welcome back
- 21:10Speaker 2: to Whatever It Takes with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft.
- 21:13Speaker 2: We are chatting all things Carly's delivery and her brand
- 21:19Speaker 2: new baby Hunter who's here. And it was It was
- 21:22Speaker 2: a little bit, a lot of it, of a crazy.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Journey to get to this point. We just broke down
- 21:28Speaker 1: her delivery.
- 21:29Speaker 2: And Carly, thank you for being so open and honest
- 21:31Speaker 2: and vulnerable because I know that living it and sharing
- 21:34Speaker 2: it are two different things.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But the bummer part of this story, well, the best
- 21:38Speaker 1: part is you're sitting here. So we are on the mend.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But you did have to go back to the hospital after.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So take us through the hunters here. We're in the
- 21:47Speaker 2: hospital and kind of the recovery since.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah. So... Again, induced, I think it was, ended up
- 21:57Speaker 1: being like, you know, in the middle of the night
- 21:59Speaker 1: on the 23rd of September. And then I have him
- 22:02Speaker 1: the morning of the 24th. I stay in the hospital
- 22:08Speaker 1: for two nights. So I come back on September 26th. Now,
- 22:14Speaker 1: mind you, these deliveries went very differently, as I was
- 22:21Speaker 1: saying with Harper versus Hunter, two completely different deliveries. This
- 22:27Speaker 1: postpartum I knew was going to be way different and
- 22:31Speaker 1: way harder, more painful. So I did, I tore more. Again,
- 22:37Speaker 1: I had a lot of manipulations and things going on,
- 22:40Speaker 1: a lot of people on my stomach, making sure all
- 22:43Speaker 1: of the, you know, not to get too graphic, blood clots,
- 22:46Speaker 1: was out of my uterus, so I wouldn't hemorrhage. There
- 22:50Speaker 1: was just a lot, a lot of blood loss. You know,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I went from, you know, not being low on iron
- 22:59Speaker 1: or anemic to a very, very low hemoglobin number, which
- 23:05Speaker 1: is pretty crazy. So yeah, I'm in, you know, what
- 23:09Speaker 1: they call mother baby. So I leave the labor and
- 23:12Speaker 1: delivery room, I go there and Brian and I get
- 23:14Speaker 1: settled and I'm in a lot of pain. I mean,
- 23:18Speaker 1: my stomach area. You're in pain. You feel it. Down there, inflamed,
- 23:25Speaker 1: just everything. I couldn't go to the bathroom on my
- 23:27Speaker 1: own for about two days. I tried so hard. I
- 23:32Speaker 1: had probably between post-delivery, well, delivery, and then post-delivery probably
- 23:43Speaker 1: seven or eight times with catheter in me. Really? Sometimes
- 23:48Speaker 1: just a straight cath to drain me. Other times I
- 23:51Speaker 1: had the Foley, which was just the bag that was there.
- 23:55Speaker 1: And they really want you to obviously try to urinate
- 23:58Speaker 1: on your own. And I just, I couldn't. So I'm
- 24:04Speaker 1: so sorry. We stayed. Yeah, it was awful. We stayed,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I believe, because we had Harper in the morning on
- 24:12Speaker 1: a morning as well. We only stayed Probably about a
- 24:15Speaker 1: day and a half in the hospital and we were
- 24:17Speaker 1: like ready to roll, ready to go home. This time around,
- 24:21Speaker 1: my OB wanted me to stay another night. She didn't
- 24:23Speaker 1: want me to go home with a catheter bag. She
- 24:26Speaker 1: really wanted me to, yeah, try to go on my
- 24:29Speaker 1: own and. And all of that. So, yeah, you know,
- 24:33Speaker 1: the nurses would come in, you know, the deal, taking
- 24:36Speaker 1: vitals and checking your bleeding and bladder and all things, everything.
- 24:41Speaker 1: It was just very, I was in a lot, a
- 24:45Speaker 1: lot of pain this time around. And so finally went
- 24:49Speaker 1: home on that Saturday and it was really hard. I mean,
- 24:54Speaker 1: it was sad because... You know, we had been gone
- 24:59Speaker 1: from Harper for however long, and she was a little
- 25:03Speaker 1: weird seeing us. Like, she wasn't really excited. So I
- 25:07Speaker 1: was like, oh, that made me kind of sad. And
- 25:10Speaker 1: then here we have this new baby that's just come
- 25:14Speaker 1: in and changed all of our lives. And it took
- 25:18Speaker 1: her some getting used to. I obviously wasn't allowed to...
- 25:25Speaker 1: pick her up for a couple of weeks. I couldn't drive,
- 25:28Speaker 1: you know, couldn't lift things, had to go up and
- 25:31Speaker 1: down steps as if I'm an older, you know, elderly person, um,
- 25:37Speaker 1: one foot on each. So it just was, you know,
- 25:41Speaker 1: one of those things where I'm like, this is gonna,
- 25:44Speaker 1: this is going to be really tough. Um, and I
- 25:46Speaker 1: have a high pain tolerance and all of that.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Like you don't seem like any, you would ever complain
- 25:52Speaker 2: about anything.
- 25:54Speaker 1: So when you're saying you're in pain, I know you're
- 25:55Speaker 1: in pain. Yeah. And, you know, it was one thing
- 25:59Speaker 1: to be in pain, you know, down there and inflamed
- 26:02Speaker 1: and all things going on. It was just another thing
- 26:06Speaker 1: to start having like fevers and chills. And when did
- 26:12Speaker 1: that start? So when I'm kind of thinking about it,
- 26:15Speaker 1: I feel like it was sort of brewing as I
- 26:19Speaker 1: got home. Maybe not the first night or two, but then...
- 26:24Speaker 1: things were progressively kind of getting not so right. And
- 26:29Speaker 1: I wasn't trying to ignore any of the signs. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: remember having some sweats with Harper, and I'm obviously breastfeeding.
- 26:38Speaker 1: But they started to come on a lot stronger. And
- 26:43Speaker 1: it started to become really hard for me to maneuver
- 26:45Speaker 1: out of bed. My stomach area, I almost felt like
- 26:48Speaker 1: keeled over.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Really?
- 26:50Speaker 1: One day... I feel like I'm turning the corner and
- 26:53Speaker 1: everything's feeling good. We go on a little walk as
- 26:57Speaker 1: a family. And next thing you know, it's like I
- 27:01Speaker 1: can barely turn to my side in bed. And I
- 27:06Speaker 1: had a friend that came over, um, on a Thursday
- 27:10Speaker 1: morning and I was shivering for probably like three hours straight.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I had three blankets wrapped on me. I was, you know,
- 27:20Speaker 1: texting with my docs and maybe we were kind of
- 27:24Speaker 1: thinking maybe it's mastitis. And I did have that before
- 27:28Speaker 1: with Harper towards the end, but I had no redness
- 27:31Speaker 1: on my boobs and I didn't feel any like clogged
- 27:34Speaker 1: ducts or anything like that. And Hunter, he's a big boy,
- 27:38Speaker 1: so he had been kind of giving me some longer
- 27:41Speaker 1: stretches at night. I think one night was three hours,
- 27:44Speaker 1: another was four hours, five hours. So I'm like, maybe
- 27:48Speaker 1: it is. Maybe we're still trying to figure out my
- 27:51Speaker 1: milk production. And then I would just kind of break
- 27:58Speaker 1: down in tears sitting on the couch because I'm like,
- 28:04Speaker 1: this is truly... This is awful. It did not feel right.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I can't enjoy our daughter. You know, I'm getting, like, having, like,
- 28:15Speaker 1: a short fuse with her and with Hunter. I feel
- 28:20Speaker 1: like I wasn't enjoying him. Like, everything was a burden
- 28:24Speaker 1: because of how horrible I was feeling. Yeah. And I'm like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: you know, I just need to get through these, like,
- 28:31Speaker 1: next couple weeks and maybe things will turn the corner. Until...
- 28:37Speaker 1: I was taking some medicine for the fevers, slight fever
- 28:42Speaker 1: and chills and sweats until the medicine didn't work. And
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm like, something, you know, like as an athlete, you just,
- 28:55Speaker 1: you know that there's something not right. So I shot
- 28:58Speaker 1: a text to one of my docs and I just
- 29:01Speaker 1: said to her, here's what's going on. Is this normal? Like,
- 29:06Speaker 1: you know, I'm, I'm, I'm really struggling. I mean, this is,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I know postpartum's difficult depending on how things go with
- 29:16Speaker 1: people's deliveries. Hunter's a grunter. He's saying hi to me.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:22Speaker 1: So she said, you know what? I think it's best
- 29:25Speaker 1: for you to come in to the hospital. We'll, we'll
- 29:28Speaker 1: draw some labs. We'll, check things out. And I'm like, OK.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I mean, I couldn't grab my stuff any quicker. We
- 29:35Speaker 1: had to all go as a family because I obviously
- 29:37Speaker 1: wasn't driving at this point. And, you know, Brian's like
- 29:42Speaker 1: doing stuff outside. I'm like, we got to go. Like,
- 29:46Speaker 1: I just, I'm in tears. Like, I just can't. I
- 29:48Speaker 1: cannot handle this pain anymore. The aches, feeling lethargic. My
- 29:53Speaker 1: back was hurting. I mean, I felt like I was
- 29:57Speaker 1: literally like hit by a Mack truck. It was really,
- 30:01Speaker 1: really bad. So I went in. I was in triage.
- 30:05Speaker 1: They took my heart rate. My heart rate was like 125-ish,
- 30:09Speaker 1: which was very concerning. They did a urine culture, ran
- 30:13Speaker 1: some other tests, and they were kind of clinically diagnosing
- 30:17Speaker 1: me before any of the tests had come back, but
- 30:20Speaker 1: with a UTI, like a complicated UTI, and most likely
- 30:24Speaker 1: a uterine infection, which they call endo... I believe. It's
- 30:31Speaker 1: not endometriosis. Endometritis. Okay. And so I'm like, okay, like, well,
- 30:37Speaker 1: what does that entail? Yeah, what does that mean? Well,
- 30:39Speaker 1: the uterus infection, obviously, there was a risk of them
- 30:45Speaker 1: going in and, you know, having to kind of clear
- 30:48Speaker 1: out my uterus. You obviously have to do it because
- 30:51Speaker 1: you don't want a hemorrhage, but then the risk of
- 30:53Speaker 1: having an infection. So there was that. So I was
- 30:56Speaker 1: dealing with that. I was also dealing with you basically
- 31:00Speaker 1: had a lot of E. coli in my urine, which
- 31:05Speaker 1: in the beginning they were diagnosing that as the UTI,
- 31:10Speaker 1: but it had eventually made its way to my kidneys.
- 31:14Speaker 1: So I basically had a kidney infection, which they call
- 31:19Speaker 1: that like pylo, which is a very, very painful thing.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And I guess mine was incredibly bad that my antibiotics,
- 31:30Speaker 1: they admitted me. They ended up admitting me and saying
- 31:33Speaker 1: they wanted me to stay. So Monday night, my antibiotics,
- 31:38Speaker 1: my IV antibiotics started. I did not feel better until
- 31:44Speaker 1: probably Friday morning. A whole week? Pretty much. Wow. That's wild.
- 31:49Speaker 1: So I had been in the hospital, spiking fevers, having
- 31:53Speaker 1: the chills, having the aches. having the sweats. I needed
- 31:57Speaker 1: a blood transfusion to help with my hemoglobin levels. I
- 32:01Speaker 1: had a IV iron bag. And on top of that, thankfully,
- 32:08Speaker 1: I did have Hunter with me, but it was so
- 32:12Speaker 1: incredibly hard and painful to continue to breastfeed him. And
- 32:17Speaker 1: there was a part of me where I was like,
- 32:20Speaker 1: should I just stop this? Like, should I just try formula?
- 32:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 1: But I didn't. And I kept going.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And.
- 32:29Speaker 1: That's amazing, Carly. Because I wanted to. I mean, obviously.
- 32:33Speaker 1: But still a lot.
- 32:34Speaker 2: You're basically... I mean, your body is fighting. I mean,
- 32:38Speaker 2: I don't want to be dramatic because I don't want
- 32:40Speaker 2: to put words in your mouth.
- 32:40Speaker 1: But like how.
- 32:41Speaker 2: That's a really serious thing that you're going through.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Very. Like the doctors were... Were they pretty freaked out?
- 32:48Speaker 1: By the kidney infection?
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:50Speaker 1: They were... They were kind of holding their breath with
- 32:54Speaker 1: my urine culture to make sure that it didn't get
- 32:57Speaker 1: into my bloodstream, which would have been sepsis. So that's
- 33:03Speaker 1: the avenue. And that doesn't just happen overnight where it
- 33:08Speaker 1: gets into the kidneys. Like this had been brewing. So
- 33:12Speaker 1: not that I was trying to ignore the signs, but
- 33:15Speaker 1: I think that'd be my message to everybody is like,
- 33:21Speaker 1: even if you think, asking your doctors, like, this is
- 33:25Speaker 1: a dumb question or, hey, this is how I'm feeling.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Is this normal to be feeling this way? I mean,
- 33:31Speaker 1: you can't ignore the signs. And they were just so
- 33:35Speaker 1: happy that I came in when I did because we
- 33:37Speaker 1: kind of caught it at the perfect time to be
- 33:41Speaker 1: able to treat it. And they were all, I mean,
- 33:44Speaker 1: taken back at how long it took for the antibiotics
- 33:48Speaker 1: to start working. Um, it's a great reminder though. To follow,
- 33:53Speaker 1: like follow your intuition.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Like you, there was like a breaking point where you're like,
- 33:56Speaker 2: this is not what it's supposed to be.
- 33:59Speaker 1: No, no. And, and looking back, I, I do see
- 34:04Speaker 1: more of the signs, like my urine started to change
- 34:06Speaker 1: color and, you know, it got, you know, cloudier and
- 34:10Speaker 1: just a whole range of things. Um, but I didn't know.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I mean, I went through a traumatic delivery. I thought
- 34:16Speaker 1: that this was maybe the way postpartum was supposed to go. And, So, yeah,
- 34:22Speaker 1: I did. I did a lot of sleeping. It's unbelievable
- 34:26Speaker 1: how much time passed in the hospital. But like I
- 34:29Speaker 1: didn't I mean, I was barely could be on my phone.
- 34:32Speaker 1: I barely was able to even have the strength to
- 34:35Speaker 1: breastfeed Hunter. Yeah. But all the nurses and doctors and
- 34:40Speaker 1: everybody took amazing care of me. And having the blood
- 34:45Speaker 1: transfusion was also kind of wild. Interesting.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:50Speaker 1: This is unbelievable, you know? This is why people donate blood.
- 34:55Speaker 1: But I was like, this is weird. But my hemoglobin
- 35:00Speaker 1: had gone all the way down to a six. I
- 35:02Speaker 1: was going to ask you how low it was. Wow,
- 35:04Speaker 1: six is pretty low.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:06Speaker 1: So, I mean, I'm kind of still anemic right now.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I was going to say, where are you now? Basically,
- 35:13Speaker 1: when they give you the blood transfusion, I guess if
- 35:15Speaker 1: it's just one, I don't know the correct dosage or whatnot.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I think it shoots you up a level, like it
- 35:26Speaker 1: got me up to eight, and then I think it
- 35:28Speaker 1: leveled me out a little bit to like 7.6. Okay.
- 35:32Speaker 1: But because of that being so low, you know, my
- 35:35Speaker 1: white blood count was so high because it was trying
- 35:38Speaker 1: to fight the infection, and yeah, hemoglobin level was low,
- 35:42Speaker 1: and it just was.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 35:46Speaker 1: It was absolutely just crazy. I've probably never felt that
- 35:52Speaker 1: much pain in my entire life than that experience, which
- 35:58Speaker 1: was crazy. I mean, I had needles everywhere in my
- 36:03Speaker 1: hands and my arms. I had hooked up to all
- 36:07Speaker 1: sorts of bags. And yeah, it was quite an experience.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I wasn't really seeing light at the end of the
- 36:16Speaker 1: tunnel at one point. But Friday morning waking up, I
- 36:19Speaker 1: was like, oh my gosh, like I finally feel somewhat better.
- 36:24Speaker 1: And then I ended up going home Saturday afternoon and
- 36:29Speaker 1: it's just been a world of difference, like so much better.
- 36:33Speaker 2: We'll be right back with more honest conversation on motherhood
- 36:36Speaker 2: and recovery with Jenny and Carly. And welcome back to
- 36:49Speaker 2: Whatever It Takes.
- 36:51Speaker 1: So you are feeling better now.
- 36:55Speaker 2: How about what the doctors have said now that you're home?
- 36:59Speaker 2: Is there anything you need to be doing? Is there
- 37:01Speaker 2: anything that you need to be monitoring to make sure? Like,
- 37:04Speaker 2: is there a fear that anything could come back or
- 37:07Speaker 2: be a factor, like anything like that on your mind? No.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I mean, I think the biggest thing when I was
- 37:13Speaker 1: spiking kind of those fevers, and they weren't incredibly high,
- 37:18Speaker 1: but they were high enough to keep me into the hospital.
- 37:20Speaker 1: They wanted 48 hours of no fevers because you don't
- 37:24Speaker 1: want to be sent home and then have to come
- 37:26Speaker 1: back and be readmitted. But no, it's basically taking probiotic
- 37:32Speaker 1: because I have so much antibiotics that have been running
- 37:38Speaker 1: through my body. And obviously you don't want to kill
- 37:41Speaker 1: the good health, gut health, making sure I'm, you know,
- 37:44Speaker 1: taking an iron supplement to continue and just eating iron
- 37:49Speaker 1: rich foods. I am very swollen. I did put out
- 37:54Speaker 1: a little Instagram story of my feet.
- 38:00Speaker 2: I love you so much, but I was like, oh,
- 38:04Speaker 2: I'm like, But then you posted the, whatever they're called,
- 38:08Speaker 2: Norma Tech.
- 38:08Speaker 1: The Norma Techs. Yeah, and I was like, okay. I
- 38:10Speaker 1: was like, what can I send Carly right now? I'm like,
- 38:13Speaker 1: she's covered with the Norma Tech. That's good. It's a
- 38:16Speaker 1: good thing I don't have to get in any high
- 38:17Speaker 1: heels right now. Yeah, no heels. It helped a little bit.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I just think because there were so many fluids and
- 38:24Speaker 1: I was... I was going to say, like, what is
- 38:26Speaker 1: it from? Yeah. For six days. I don't know if
- 38:31Speaker 1: it has anything to do with my kidneys, like, not
- 38:33Speaker 1: being able to kind of, like, flush things out. But
- 38:37Speaker 1: they just say just keep hydrating and it'll eventually kind
- 38:40Speaker 1: of work its way out. But, yeah, I mean, my
- 38:43Speaker 1: body just feels awful. Absolutely awful. I think this, like,
- 38:51Speaker 1: it's just so.
- 38:53Speaker 2: crazy to think that that was your experience like that's
- 38:57Speaker 2: what you just went through over the last couple weeks
- 38:59Speaker 2: because it just feels like a whirlwind and yet we're
- 39:03Speaker 2: sitting here and you have.
- 39:04Speaker 1: A baby that's right below us.
- 39:05Speaker 2: But insane and just how you can never know what
- 39:10Speaker 2: to expect yet you can go in feeling like you're
- 39:13Speaker 2: good to go and you're ready but i'm so grateful
- 39:16Speaker 2: you listen to those symptoms and you truly listen because
- 39:19Speaker 2: we could be having a way different conversation that's.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Even crazier Oh, yeah. And what's weird is, remember I
- 39:25Speaker 1: texted you on that Monday and because I was like
- 39:30Speaker 1: I was sort of relating my experience with Harper postpartum
- 39:34Speaker 1: like it wasn't so bad so maybe I'll take a
- 39:38Speaker 1: week off from the pod and get back into it
- 39:42Speaker 1: and I respect I love that about you you're like
- 39:44Speaker 1: I'll be fine it's like I mean it's you're gonna
- 39:47Speaker 1: be uncomfortable but it's okay right And it was different.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I'm thinking, how am I going to be able to
- 39:52Speaker 1: like sit there that long? And then he's cluster feeding.
- 39:56Speaker 1: But that wasn't even the reason. But I texted you
- 39:59Speaker 1: on Monday and I'm like, I think I'm going to need.
- 40:02Speaker 1: And this was, I went into the hospital probably early
- 40:06Speaker 1: Monday evening. Wow. So I just, there was something, there
- 40:11Speaker 1: was just an intuition that I felt that I'm like,
- 40:15Speaker 1: I'm not right. So. Gosh. And there's been, you know,
- 40:18Speaker 1: so many other women that, you know, I've heard now
- 40:21Speaker 1: that have, like, gone through it. And, yeah, it's really scary.
- 40:25Speaker 1: And it could have been, I know my mom was like,
- 40:30Speaker 1: get in the ambulance now. I'm like, Mom, like, I'll
- 40:33Speaker 1: be all right. Like, it's not a severe emergency. But
- 40:37Speaker 1: once you start Googling some things, yeah, it's once the
- 40:42Speaker 1: potential of it going into your bloodstream, that's a really
- 40:44Speaker 1: scary thing. It's really, really scary. Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. And I'm just so grateful for your doctors for
- 40:50Speaker 2: being on it and for you listening to that intuition
- 40:53Speaker 2: and just, yeah, like if that can be a reminder
- 40:56Speaker 2: from this episode, one, like thank you for sharing because
- 40:59Speaker 2: also it's not fun to get into all the details,
- 41:02Speaker 2: but thank you for sharing and also just a reminder
- 41:05Speaker 2: to everyone to listen to that gut feeling, right?
- 41:09Speaker 1: Like you always know. That's the thing. You know, I
- 41:13Speaker 1: think we as women, we just, you know, when something's
- 41:18Speaker 1: not right. Yeah. But yeah, I'm very grateful for all
- 41:22Speaker 1: of the docs, nurses, people.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Sleeping good. I mean, yeah, it's like my stomach. How's
- 41:29Speaker 1: your pain now? Oh, it's so minimal. I mean, I
- 41:34Speaker 1: would say the pain that I have is, I almost
- 41:38Speaker 1: feel like bruising on my stomach, which is probably from
- 41:43Speaker 1: you know, all of the nurses and all of that
- 41:45Speaker 1: during the delivery, pressing on it and doing various things.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But yeah, no, it's night and day. I can maneuver
- 41:53Speaker 1: in bed. I'm, you know, breastfeeding him. I feel like I'm,
- 41:56Speaker 1: you know, finally, you know, looking at him and, you know,
- 42:00Speaker 1: adoring him because it was, it was, it was just rough.
- 42:04Speaker 1: But yeah, everything is on the upward now. I just
- 42:07Speaker 1: got to get rid of these Fred Flintstone feet. Yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I can't even barely fit into my shoes. Yeah, no
- 42:16Speaker 1: shoes for a while. It's all right.
- 42:18Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 42:18Speaker 1: You don't need them. You're fine. I don't know why.
- 42:23Speaker 1: I'm just, like, emotional. I'm so happy you're okay. It's, like, crazy, Carly,
- 42:28Speaker 1: what you went through. It's crazy. And I don't want
- 42:30Speaker 1: to scare anybody in their pregnancies and their journeys because
- 42:35Speaker 1: there's just so many things that can happen, right? And
- 42:38Speaker 1: I think, you know, at the end of the day,
- 42:39Speaker 1: you just have to, like, Listen to the docs and
- 42:42Speaker 1: nurses and trust and do whatever is possible. Do whatever
- 42:48Speaker 1: it takes to just deliver a healthy baby. That's all
- 42:51Speaker 1: you want at the end.
- 42:53Speaker 2: And you trust your doctors and you trust that intuition.
- 42:57Speaker 2: And look, I mean, you are sitting here now and
- 43:00Speaker 2: you don't look like what you just went through.
- 43:01Speaker 1: That's what's also crazy. Like you're doing it. You're better.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Like you got through the craziest part of it. Got
- 43:07Speaker 1: through it. Not having another child again either. That's it?
- 43:12Speaker 1: We're checking it off? It was closed, but like now
- 43:17Speaker 1: it's like for sure closed.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Like if he was our first, I don't know if
- 43:22Speaker 1: I'd be coming back having another. Isn't that crazy perspective
- 43:25Speaker 1: to think of it like that? It was a lot.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But yeah, grateful.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Is there anything we can, whatever it takes, community can
- 43:32Speaker 2: do to support you from afar?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Is there anything, like, is there anything we can do?
- 43:37Speaker 2: I just... I want to come drive to visit you
- 43:40Speaker 2: and hang out with you guys. I'm going to give
- 43:41Speaker 2: you a little more time that I'm coming over.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I'll babysit. No, I'm all good. Look, I think that's
- 43:47Speaker 1: what I think I love about our pod is just
- 43:50Speaker 1: being able to kind of share different perspectives on things,
- 43:55Speaker 1: different topics. You know, and I just want to make
- 43:58Speaker 1: people aware of some complications that can happen during Delivery
- 44:03Speaker 1: and not even just during delivery, but post delivery. And
- 44:06Speaker 1: you got to listen to your bodies. You have to
- 44:09Speaker 1: trust your gut and your intuition and not think any
- 44:14Speaker 1: question is stupid or invalid because there's always a reason,
- 44:20Speaker 1: you know, and if I did not go in when
- 44:23Speaker 1: I did, I'm not, yeah, I don't know what would
- 44:29Speaker 1: have been a probably a more lengthy stay, but For sure.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Just want to make sure that everybody kind of does
- 44:35Speaker 1: their due diligence to, you know, because the doctors, it's
- 44:39Speaker 1: impossible for them to follow up with all the patients
- 44:42Speaker 1: that they have. And there's only so much. I mean,
- 44:45Speaker 1: my OB and midwife were following up with me. How
- 44:48Speaker 1: do you feel? Yeah, I'm good. You know, just a
- 44:50Speaker 1: little sore down there, you know, but once you start
- 44:53Speaker 1: to get into like the nitty gritty of maybe some
- 44:58Speaker 1: different symptoms that you're having or Ask a little bit
- 45:01Speaker 1: more questions. You know, if you don't ask those questions,
- 45:06Speaker 1: nobody really knows.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Well, your mindset is one of your most incredible traits.
- 45:12Speaker 2: And even just like the breastfeeding through the crazy at
- 45:15Speaker 2: the hospital, like I'm so impressed by you.
- 45:19Speaker 1: And Hunter is perfect in every way. And I just,
- 45:22Speaker 1: I love you. I'm really proud of you. Good job. Thanks.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Good job. I appreciate the update. I'm like, I should
- 45:29Speaker 1: be emotional. Although I am, I have been emotional about
- 45:31Speaker 1: other things. I'm like, I don't know. I just like,
- 45:35Speaker 1: I'm so happy you're okay. But I didn't know.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I mean, I knew it was bad in our texts,
- 45:40Speaker 2: but I also didn't want to like over ask and
- 45:44Speaker 2: like put more stress on it.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Like, oh, how bad is this? If our kidney is like,
- 45:48Speaker 1: of course, I'm not going to put that on your mind.
- 45:50Speaker 2: But it's just like wild to think what our bodies
- 45:54Speaker 2: go through and are capable of yet. It's all, I mean, just,
- 45:58Speaker 2: I'm so grateful for the doctors having to bring you into.
- 46:02Speaker 2: So I love you so much. I know that you've
- 46:04Speaker 2: been sitting for a while. Are you feeling okay?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm feeling, I'm, I'm literally feeling like a whole
- 46:10Speaker 1: new person. I'm like literally back from the dead. It was,
- 46:14Speaker 1: you're like, I'm actually fine. Brian's like, this doesn't seem,
- 46:19Speaker 1: he's like, is this normal? Like, It was like a
- 46:23Speaker 1: beautiful day, I think one of the weeks. And I
- 46:26Speaker 1: came outside and I just stood in the sun and
- 46:28Speaker 1: I was like shivering. And he was like, this is
- 46:32Speaker 1: not normal. Yeah, it's crazy. So yes, make sure, listen,
- 46:39Speaker 1: trust your gut and intuition. Okay, well, thank you for sharing.
- 46:45Speaker 1: We are so happy for you.
- 46:47Speaker 2: And hopefully moving forward, we can just hear all the good,
- 46:51Speaker 2: fun updates. And I know they're not all going to
- 46:52Speaker 2: be good and fun and easy, but truly, you're a
- 46:55Speaker 2: rock star. And, you know, it's only up from here.
- 47:00Speaker 2: I'm going to go with that.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Upwards from here, for sure. Yeah, no, it's good to
- 47:06Speaker 1: be back and happy to be able to share my story.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Thank you, Carly. Hopefully we'll get some More chat soon.
- 47:13Speaker 2: We'll have some guests coming. So thank you so much
- 47:16Speaker 2: for listening to whatever it takes.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Is that our guy? He's like, it's time, mom. Grab him.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Is this his debut? Oh, Hunter. There he is. Oh,
- 47:30Speaker 1: I'm really going to cry. He's so beautiful. You big boy.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I got loads, loads of stories to tell you about.
- 47:40Speaker 1: I mean, he's. He's big, but I'm like, he doesn't
- 47:43Speaker 1: seem that big. No, he does not look like a
- 47:47Speaker 1: brand new baby. Yeah, I know. You wrecked your mama.
- 47:51Speaker 1: He's like, yeah.
