Shutdown Finally Over, Protecting Nigerian Christians & ANTIFA Violence Targets Turning Point · The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson

0:01
Speaker 1: Welcome in his verdict with Center Ted Cruz.
0:03
Speaker 2: So nice to have you with us, many of you
0:05
Speaker 2: listening on the radio across the country. And it was well,
0:08
Speaker 2: one interesting week. I guess that's the best way you
0:11
Speaker 2: can put it. The sausage truly being made for all
0:14
Speaker 2: the American people to see. With the longest government shut
0:17
Speaker 2: down in history finally over, Senator, your reaction to that.
0:23
Speaker 3: Well, hallelujah, hallelujah. After forty three days of the government
0:28
Speaker 3: being shut down, forty three days of the Schumer shutdown
0:32
Speaker 3: where federal employees didn't get their paychecks and yet thousands
0:36
Speaker 3: went into work, forty three days of parks being closed,
0:40
Speaker 3: museums being closed, government services being highly limited, Forty three
0:45
Speaker 3: days of delays in the airports, of air traffic controllers
0:49
Speaker 3: not being paid, TSA agents not being paid, flights being canceled,
0:54
Speaker 3: all because the Democrats were throwing a gigantic temper tantrum
0:59
Speaker 3: because Chuck sh Humor has a political crisis, and this
1:02
Speaker 3: shut down. The Democrats got nothing. But the purpose was
1:07
Speaker 3: not to actually get a concession. The purpose was simply
1:11
Speaker 3: to inflict a whole lot of pain on the American
1:14
Speaker 3: people to demonstrate that man O man Schumer and the
1:18
Speaker 3: Democrats hate Donald Trump, and they hate Donald Trump so
1:21
Speaker 3: much they're willing to hurt their own constituents. President Trump
1:27
Speaker 3: Wednesday evening signed the legislation. We passed it out of
1:31
Speaker 3: the Senate Monday night. The House came back on Wednesday,
1:36
Speaker 3: they voted on Wednesday, they passed the legislation that we
1:39
Speaker 3: had passed, and President Trump signed it into law. Listen
1:42
Speaker 3: to him as he's signing the legislation reopening the government
1:45
Speaker 3: Wednesday night.
1:46
Speaker 4: But with all of that, I just want to tell
1:48
Speaker 4: you the country has never been in better shape. We
1:51
Speaker 4: went through this short term disaster with the Democrats because
1:55
Speaker 4: they thought it would be good politically, and it's an
1:58
Speaker 4: honor now to sign incredible bill and get our country
2:03
Speaker 4: working again.
2:04
Speaker 1: Thank you, Sarah.
2:35
Speaker 2: You can hear Republicans they are cheering in the Oval Office.
2:38
Speaker 2: It's not every day you actually hear real cheering like
2:40
Speaker 2: that in the Oval Office. It it's a little more
2:42
Speaker 2: formal usually. Obviously, Republicans surrounding the present they were happy
2:47
Speaker 2: this is finally older over and the American people aren't
2:50
Speaker 2: being held hostage anymore.
2:51
Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, the Democrats, they inflicted pain on millions of Americans.
2:58
Speaker 3: They also wasted billions of dollars of taxpayer money. Just
3:03
Speaker 3: the thousands upon thousands of government workers who stayed home
3:06
Speaker 3: for forty three days. They didn't go to work. They're
3:09
Speaker 3: all going to get paid back pay now, So forty
3:12
Speaker 3: three days. Now, for forty three days, they had the
3:14
Speaker 3: challenge of not having a paycheck, not knowing how they'd
3:16
Speaker 3: pay their mortgage, not knowing how they'd pay their rent.
3:19
Speaker 3: But now they'll get paid for all those forty three days.
3:21
Speaker 3: But you know what, the American people didn't get. They
3:23
Speaker 3: didn't get any work from all the workers who stayed
3:25
Speaker 3: home for over a month because Chuck Schumer and the
3:29
Speaker 3: Democrats wanted to throw a tantrum. President Trump at the
3:33
Speaker 3: signing ceremony, he described some of the real harms that
3:36
Speaker 3: the Schumer shut down caused.
3:38
Speaker 4: Here, give a listen the past seven weeks the Democrats
3:41
Speaker 4: shut down as inflicted massive harm. They caused twenty thousand
3:47
Speaker 4: flights to be canceled or delayed. They departed so many times,
3:51
Speaker 4: so late, people were hurt so badly. Nobody's ever seen
3:56
Speaker 4: anything like this one. This was a no brainer, This
3:59
Speaker 4: was an easy extension. But they didn't want to do
4:02
Speaker 4: it the easy way. They had to do it the
4:04
Speaker 4: hard way. They looked very bad the Democrats do. They
4:07
Speaker 4: deprived more than one million government workers from their paychecks
4:11
Speaker 4: and cut off food stamp benefits of millions and millions
4:14
Speaker 4: more Americans in need. They caused tens of thousands of
4:18
Speaker 4: federal contractors and small businesses to go unpaid. And the
4:22
Speaker 4: total effect of the damage their antics cause will take
4:26
Speaker 4: weeks and probably months to really calculate accurately, including the
4:31
Speaker 4: serious harm that they did to our economy and to
4:33
Speaker 4: people and the families. So I just want to tell
4:37
Speaker 4: the American people you should not forget this when we
4:40
Speaker 4: come up to midterms and other things. Don't forget what
4:42
Speaker 4: they've done to our country. You also want to call
4:46
Speaker 4: for a termination to the filibuster so that this can
4:49
Speaker 4: never happen again.
4:52
Speaker 1: You know, Sara, this really was about inflicting pain.
4:55
Speaker 2: I was on CNN the night to shut Down ended
4:58
Speaker 2: as the present was talking this live, and it was
5:02
Speaker 2: amazing to see the disconnect from so many of the
5:04
Speaker 2: liberals on the show, and I'm like, what did you
5:06
Speaker 2: guys get out of this? This was the same deal
5:10
Speaker 2: that was on the table before the shutdown, So you
5:13
Speaker 2: just wanted to try to score political points. You hate
5:16
Speaker 2: Donald Trump so much that you just wanted to shut
5:18
Speaker 2: on the government and see if you could bring his
5:20
Speaker 2: approval writing down. You didn't give a damn about the
5:23
Speaker 2: kids and their food because if you did, you would
5:25
Speaker 2: have at least made sure that those on foodstamps would
5:27
Speaker 2: have gotten those benefits. You didn't care about those waiting
5:30
Speaker 2: on flights and having cancel flights and their lives being changed,
5:33
Speaker 2: many of them going to things that are hard, like funerals,
5:35
Speaker 2: are sick family members, Not everything's a vacation when you're
5:38
Speaker 2: at the airport. You took countless hours out of our economy,
5:42
Speaker 2: small businesses that were hurt. There's a long list of
5:44
Speaker 2: people that were hurt during this. And this was all
5:46
Speaker 2: just for one reason. They hated Donald Trump and they
5:49
Speaker 2: didn't care who got hurt in the process.
5:53
Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, the shutdown had real negative effects on the economy,
5:57
Speaker 3: on the GDP, it had real negative effects on small businesses,
6:01
Speaker 3: It had real negative effects on millions of ordinary Americans,
6:06
Speaker 3: and all of that was inflicted to score political points
6:11
Speaker 3: for the Democrats with a handful of really the crazies,
6:14
Speaker 3: you know what's amazing. After forty three days, after the
6:18
Speaker 3: longest government shut down in history, virtually every Democrat still
6:23
Speaker 3: voted against reopening the government. So in the Senate the
6:27
Speaker 3: vote was sixty to forty. Only eight Democrats voted to
6:33
Speaker 3: reopen the government. Thirty nine Democrats voted to keep the
6:38
Speaker 3: government closed. Chuck Schumer voted to keep the government closed.
6:42
Speaker 3: Every potential presidential candidate on the Democrat side voted to
6:46
Speaker 3: keep the government closed. So Cory Booker voted to keep
6:49
Speaker 3: it closed. Abi Klobuchar voted to keep it closed. Kirsten
6:52
Speaker 3: Jelibrand voted to keep it closed. Chris Murphy voted to
6:54
Speaker 3: keep it closed. Bernie Sanders voted to keep it closed.
6:58
Speaker 3: All of those are possible and even likely Democrat presidential candidates,
7:04
Speaker 3: and they all voted to keep it closed. In the House,
7:07
Speaker 3: the same thing was true, so the vote the vote
7:10
Speaker 3: in the House. So the vote in the House was
7:14
Speaker 3: two hundred and twenty two to two oh nine, but
7:17
Speaker 3: of the two hundred and twenty two, only six were Democrats.
7:24
Speaker 3: The six Democrats who voted to reopen the government in
7:26
Speaker 3: the House were Adam Gray of California, Jared Golden of Maine,
7:31
Speaker 3: Tom Susey of New York, Marie Glusen camp Perez of
7:36
Speaker 3: Washington State, Don Davis of North Carolina, and Henry Quayar
7:40
Speaker 3: of Texas. Other than that, every single Democrat in the
7:44
Speaker 3: House voted keep the government shut, keep food stamps off,
7:49
Speaker 3: keep pay stop, keep stop, don't pay air traffic controllers,
7:54
Speaker 3: keep the delays, keep the cancelations. By the way, just
7:56
Speaker 3: on flights, the FA said it was it was going
8:00
Speaker 3: to reduce flights ten percent, but if the shutdown had continued,
8:05
Speaker 3: the FA had already said it would phase into twenty
8:07
Speaker 3: percent or more. And virtually every Democrat in boast chambers
8:11
Speaker 3: said that sounds good by me. Let's keep this going.
8:14
Speaker 3: Let's keep the shutdown, I suppose through Thanksgiving, through the
8:19
Speaker 3: busiest travel time of the year. It is amazing. The
8:22
Speaker 3: question you have to ask is who are the Democrats
8:26
Speaker 3: listening to and who are they working for? Yep, because
8:30
Speaker 3: I think it's obvious on the face of it, they're
8:32
Speaker 3: not listening to the American people or working for the
8:35
Speaker 3: American people. Instead, they're listening to their radical base, and
8:39
Speaker 3: they're working for their radical base and frankly, their own
8:43
Speaker 3: political self interest.
8:45
Speaker 2: Sanata I want to get back into the shutdown aspect
8:47
Speaker 2: of this for just a moment. There is one I
8:50
Speaker 2: do think silver lining that's come out of this, and
8:53
Speaker 2: that is one I think we now really know who
8:56
Speaker 2: the Democratic Party is. Chuck Schumer is going to be
8:58
Speaker 2: out of a job. He's not running for reelection. The
9:01
Speaker 2: Democratic Party has gone full socialists or Marxist or communists,
9:05
Speaker 2: depending on who you talk to. But it's very clear
9:08
Speaker 2: there's an excommunication happening of the old establishment Democratic radicals,
9:13
Speaker 2: that is Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. So that's one
9:16
Speaker 2: thing that I do think has comeing out of the
9:17
Speaker 2: show down. The other part of this is there's a
9:20
Speaker 2: lot of talk right now about Obamacare and the financial disaster.
9:24
Speaker 2: That it is the Affordable Care Act, it's not affordable,
9:27
Speaker 2: and that's a grand debate that's now happening in this country.
9:30
Speaker 2: Kevin O'Leary, mister wonderful, you know him from Shark Tank,
9:33
Speaker 2: we talked about this and he said this may be
9:35
Speaker 2: the biggest thing Democrats didn't plan for, is that now
9:39
Speaker 2: the spotlight is on Obamacare, the subseason, how unaffordable it is,
9:43
Speaker 2: even though they said it was supposed to be a
9:44
Speaker 2: great thing.
9:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, I will say that there are a couple things.
9:48
Speaker 3: You're right that Nancy Pelosi next year will be here
9:52
Speaker 3: last year in Congress. I think Chuck Schumer. My prediction
9:56
Speaker 3: is Chuck Schumer doesn't even run for reelection. I think
9:59
Speaker 3: he is not electable in a Democrat primary in the
10:02
Speaker 3: state of New York, although, although he's tenacious, he may
10:06
Speaker 3: well try. But it wouldn't surprise me at all to
10:08
Speaker 3: see Schumer announce his retirement at the end of his term.
10:11
Speaker 3: But look, one of the infuriating things of realizing that
10:15
Speaker 3: virtually every Democrat, even after forty three days, voted to
10:20
Speaker 3: keep the government shut down. We're going to replay this
10:23
Speaker 3: whole thing like Groundhog Day on January thirtieth, because the
10:27
Speaker 3: continuing Resolution that President Trump just signed expires January thirtieth.
10:32
Speaker 3: So we'll get through Thanksgiving, we'll get through Christmas, we'll
10:35
Speaker 3: come back January. And I think there's a very real
10:37
Speaker 3: possibility that Democrats try this again, maybe not maybe the
10:40
Speaker 3: same eight who ultimately said okay, reopen the government. Maybe
10:45
Speaker 3: they'll say we don't want to do this again, and
10:47
Speaker 3: maybe they'll start right at the beginning by agreeing to
10:50
Speaker 3: fund the government. We'll see where things are. And I
10:53
Speaker 3: think the answer to that depends on what you just raised, Ben,
10:56
Speaker 3: what happens with Obamacare and healthcare. And listen, they claimed
11:02
Speaker 3: every day of this forty three day shutdown that they
11:04
Speaker 3: had to have major concessions on Obamacare to save that
11:08
Speaker 3: that failing government health program. Well they didn't get those
11:12
Speaker 3: major concessions. They got nothing whatsoever. The government's now open.
11:16
Speaker 3: But but listen to what President Trump said when he
11:19
Speaker 3: signed the legislation opening the government, because he talked about
11:22
Speaker 3: Obamacare and what's going to happen next, Give a listen.
11:25
Speaker 4: So I'm always willing to work with anyone, including the
11:28
Speaker 4: other party. We'll work on something having to do with healthcare.
11:31
Speaker 4: We can do a lot better, we can do great.
11:34
Speaker 4: So much money is involved, and we're willing to pay
11:37
Speaker 4: so much money to the people. So we're going to
11:39
Speaker 4: pay a lot of money to the people. They're going
11:41
Speaker 4: to go out and buy their own healthcare, and we're
11:44
Speaker 4: going to forget this Obamacare madness.
11:47
Speaker 1: You hear him talking about madness. He's not wrong.
11:51
Speaker 2: Even liberals are saying, well, we know that premiums have
11:53
Speaker 2: gone up two hundred three hundred percent with Obamacare. So
11:58
Speaker 2: that's why we need the subseus. That is the definition
12:01
Speaker 2: center of a disaster. It is it is insolvent.
12:06
Speaker 3: Look, that was the predictable result of Obamacare. That's what
12:10
Speaker 3: I and the other critics of Obamacare said, what happened.
12:13
Speaker 3: It's exactly what's happened. Even the Washington Post admits the
12:16
Speaker 3: so called Affordable Care Act is not affordable. And that
12:21
Speaker 3: was the Democrats solution to that is give fifty billion
12:26
Speaker 3: dollars in subsidies from the taxpayer straight to giant health
12:30
Speaker 3: insurance corporations. It's just corporate welfare. And mind you, these
12:34
Speaker 3: health insurance corporations, their stock prices have increased, in some
12:39
Speaker 3: instances more than one thousand percent since Obamacare was signed
12:43
Speaker 3: into law. The executives that are running these companies are
12:46
Speaker 3: making tens of millions of dollars in salary. Their stock
12:50
Speaker 3: has increased, presumably if they had stock that whole time.
12:53
Speaker 3: Their stock has increased in hundreds of percents, if not
12:57
Speaker 3: more than one thousand percent. And the Demo, I mean,
13:00
Speaker 3: they're craven. By the way, virtually all of the political
13:04
Speaker 3: contributions from the health insurance companies go to Democrats. So
13:07
Speaker 3: the Democrats are delivering fifty billion dollars of cash to
13:10
Speaker 3: their political donors. And what President Trump said said there
13:13
Speaker 3: is really important, and we talked about this on Wednesday's podcast.
13:18
Speaker 3: During the shutdown, I hosted a dozen senators for dinner
13:21
Speaker 3: Friday night, and we got the President on the phone
13:24
Speaker 3: and we asked the President if he would engage and
13:27
Speaker 3: help make the argument that their demands for fifty billion
13:30
Speaker 3: dollars for health insurance companies were unreasonable and a bad idea.
13:34
Speaker 3: And he sent out a series of tweets which which
13:37
Speaker 3: I helped him write, that said, We're not going to
13:40
Speaker 3: give this money for the Obamacare scam to health insurance companies. Instead,
13:46
Speaker 3: the money ought to flow to individuals, to real people
13:50
Speaker 3: in health savings accounts that you control, that you own,
13:54
Speaker 3: that you're the one making the choice of how to
13:57
Speaker 3: spend money on your healthcare. That is a fundamental reform
14:01
Speaker 3: and healthcare that will lower prices, lower costs, that actually
14:05
Speaker 3: will help keep things affordable. And I think we have
14:08
Speaker 3: an opportunity to really increase competition, increase consumer choice, and
14:15
Speaker 3: put consumers in a significantly better situation. Now, there are
14:19
Speaker 3: two ways that could happen one. We could see eight, nine,
14:26
Speaker 3: ten reasonable Democrats willing to work with Republicans on something
14:30
Speaker 3: that does that, and we could have legislation that gets
14:33
Speaker 3: sixty votes, because to do that through ordinary, ordinary procedures
14:37
Speaker 3: takes sixty votes, just like it takes sixty votes to
14:40
Speaker 3: fund the government. I think that's unlikely, although I'm sure
14:44
Speaker 3: in the next month there will be some Republicans who try.
14:48
Speaker 3: If the Democrats are not willing to do that. The
14:51
Speaker 3: other avenue we have to address this problem is reconciliation,
14:55
Speaker 3: and we can take up another budget reconciliation that only
14:58
Speaker 3: takes fifty votes. And it may well be that we
15:01
Speaker 3: have to do a budget reconciliation, which is how we
15:03
Speaker 3: pass the one big beautiful bill this summer to fix
15:08
Speaker 3: Obamacare and effectively to repeal the mess that is Obamacare
15:12
Speaker 3: and instead expand consumer choice and and enhance affordability, and
15:19
Speaker 3: and give people access to health savings accounts where the
15:23
Speaker 3: money that would have gone to enrich the health insurance
15:26
Speaker 3: companies instead is going to you the patient, you the consumer.
15:30
Speaker 3: And if we can do that on reconciliation, that that
15:34
Speaker 3: would be a major victory for our constituents. It's actually
15:38
Speaker 3: why I think the Democrats are not going to have
15:40
Speaker 3: any interested in doing it. They're much more interested in
15:43
Speaker 3: taking care of their fat cat political donors than they
15:46
Speaker 3: are actually in making healthcare affordable for real people are struggling. Remember,
15:51
Speaker 3: these are the same people that were happy to see
15:53
Speaker 3: food steps shut down because it was more important to
15:57
Speaker 3: them to make a political point to their activists than
15:59
Speaker 3: to help people who were in need of food to
16:03
Speaker 3: actually get the food they needed. And so I think
16:05
Speaker 3: when it comes to healthcare, my prediction is we'll have
16:08
Speaker 3: to do it on reconciliation because I think the Democrats
16:12
Speaker 3: will not be willing to do anything reasonable. But we'll
16:15
Speaker 3: see in the next couple of months.
16:16
Speaker 2: I want to talk to you real quick about our
16:18
Speaker 2: amazing sponsor, and it is Patriot Mobile. I just went
16:22
Speaker 2: to Israel and people ask me all the time how
16:24
Speaker 2: good is the coverage because you want to stay with
16:26
Speaker 2: the big mobile companies. I've been saying now for years,
16:29
Speaker 2: and they've been in business for well over a decade,
16:32
Speaker 2: that it is amazing coverage. If you've got coverage right now,
16:35
Speaker 2: you love You're going to love your coverage of Patriot
16:37
Speaker 2: Mobile even more. But you get rid of the woke
16:39
Speaker 2: left Agenda. I am proud to report to you that
16:42
Speaker 2: my phone worked in Israel. I traveled internationally and had
16:47
Speaker 2: zero issues with my sales service. Whether I was in Bethlehem.
16:51
Speaker 2: Are literally calling from gaza at the Gaza Strip. This
16:54
Speaker 2: is not a joke. I had amazing coverage everywhere that
16:59
Speaker 2: I went. I flew back to the US, my phone
17:01
Speaker 2: worked perfectly, my emails, all the data I was posting
17:04
Speaker 2: on social media from my phone Tel Aviv last night.
17:07
Speaker 2: It was phenomenal. So if you're worried about coverage, don't be.
17:12
Speaker 2: Now why should you switch to Patriot Mobile? Not only
17:14
Speaker 2: are probably gonna save real money every month, but then
17:17
Speaker 2: the magic happens. A portion of your bill every month
17:20
Speaker 2: goes back to support conservative causes, candidates, organizations. It fight
17:25
Speaker 2: for our First and our Second Amendment rights, the rights
17:27
Speaker 2: of unborn children, and they do something that's really special.
17:30
Speaker 2: They stand with our men and women in uniform, whether
17:33
Speaker 2: it's police officers or law law enforcement in general, or
17:36
Speaker 2: our men and women that fight for this country overseas.
17:40
Speaker 2: They stand with our wounded warriors and our fallen families
17:43
Speaker 2: who've lost a loved one. So that there is the
17:45
Speaker 2: financial need and aid that is needed. So that's why
17:48
Speaker 2: I want you to switch to Patriot Mobile, because every
17:50
Speaker 2: time you pay that bill, you're making a real difference. Now,
17:53
Speaker 2: I also want to give you a free month of service.
17:55
Speaker 2: Go to Patriotmobile dot com slash verdict that's Patriot Mobile
17:59
Speaker 2: dot com slash verdict or call them nine to seven
18:03
Speaker 2: two Patriot. That's nine seven to Patriot for a free
18:06
Speaker 2: month of service. Switch today, make a difference Patriotmobile dot
18:10
Speaker 2: com slash verdict or nine to seven to Patriot and
18:13
Speaker 2: get a free month of service with a promo code
18:15
Speaker 2: Verdict Cenator. One of the reasons why you do this
18:18
Speaker 2: show and why I love co hosting it with you,
18:20
Speaker 2: is we get to talk about issues that are not
18:23
Speaker 2: getting the attention they deserve. One of those right now
18:27
Speaker 2: is the persecution of Christians and Nigeria. It is shocking
18:32
Speaker 2: what is happening there. And I just came back from Israel.
18:35
Speaker 2: We haven't got to talk about that as much as
18:37
Speaker 2: we thought because the government shut down, and we're gonna
18:39
Speaker 2: get to that. But one of the things that you
18:40
Speaker 2: see when you see that people are under attacked because
18:43
Speaker 2: their faith and I witnessed it going into the kibbutz
18:46
Speaker 2: into the homes of those that were killed, including that
18:49
Speaker 2: nine month old child. When I met with the parents
18:52
Speaker 2: who lost their loved ones on that soccer fill as
18:53
Speaker 2: their kids were just playing soccer. When I went to
18:56
Speaker 2: the North and I saw the homes that were destroyed
18:59
Speaker 2: and met with people whose lives are destroyed by Hamas
19:02
Speaker 2: there and you witness this type of persecution and death
19:07
Speaker 2: and destruction, and went to the site where the music
19:09
Speaker 2: festival was and watch people die just because.
19:11
Speaker 1: They were Jews.
19:12
Speaker 2: It makes me angry to now see what's happening in Nigeria.
19:17
Speaker 1: You're shining a lot on that.
19:18
Speaker 2: The White House is doing that as well, and the
19:21
Speaker 2: American people need to know what's going on.
19:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, Radical Islamic terrorists, they hate Christians and they
19:28
Speaker 3: hate Jews, and they have murdered vast numbers of Christians,
19:32
Speaker 3: They have murdered vast number of Jews. They continue to
19:35
Speaker 3: do so, and they also murder a significant number of Muslims.
19:37
Speaker 3: Radical Islamic terrorists if you don't embrace their radical jihadist view,
19:43
Speaker 3: their ideology justifies violence or even murder to force you
19:49
Speaker 3: to submit. And the thirteen years I've been in the Senate,
19:52
Speaker 3: I've spent a lot of time fighting for persecuted Christians,
19:55
Speaker 3: fighting for persecuted Christians all across the globe, especially those
20:00
Speaker 3: being persecuted by radical Islamic terrorists. Boko Haram, that is
20:03
Speaker 3: in Nigeria, is a vicious radical Islamic terrorist group. And
20:09
Speaker 3: if you look at there is no country on planet
20:11
Speaker 3: Earth where more Christians have been murdered in the last
20:16
Speaker 3: twenty years than Nigeria. Since two thousand and nine, more
20:21
Speaker 3: than fifty thousand Christians have been murdered in the country
20:24
Speaker 3: of Nigeria.
20:26
Speaker 1: I mean literally, these Christians are being hunted down.
20:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, they absolutely are. Over twenty thousand Christian churches and
20:34
Speaker 3: schools have been burned to the ground or otherwise destroyed.
20:38
Speaker 3: I mean, this has been mass murder and it is horrific.
20:42
Speaker 3: And so I filed legislation in the Senate to direct
20:46
Speaker 3: the administration to designate Nigeria Country of Particular Concern and
20:51
Speaker 3: to impose in particular sanctions on the government officials, because
20:54
Speaker 3: there are many government officials who are acquiescing in this
20:58
Speaker 3: mass murder against Christians, and and and so my legislation
21:02
Speaker 3: would would impose sanctions on particular government officials that there
21:06
Speaker 3: are twelve states in the North where Sharia laws or
21:10
Speaker 3: blasphemy laws are enforced. There's also federal Sharia and blasphemy
21:14
Speaker 3: laws that are enforced, and the government officials use those
21:18
Speaker 3: laws to discriminate against and to persecute Christians. In some instances,
21:23
Speaker 3: they simply just turn a blind eye, as as Bokoharram
21:26
Speaker 3: and other radical Islamic terrorists murder Christians. In other instances,
21:30
Speaker 3: they actually used the law to facilitate the persecution. But
21:35
Speaker 3: after I filed the legislation, and and and I began
21:38
Speaker 3: pressing the administration to designate Nigeria as a country a
21:42
Speaker 3: particular concern, President Trump did so, and he sent out
21:46
Speaker 3: a tweet. Here's what his tweet says. It says Christianity
21:49
Speaker 3: is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians
21:53
Speaker 3: are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.
21:58
Speaker 3: I am hereby making Nigeria a country of particular concern,
22:03
Speaker 3: but that is the least of it. When Christians or
22:06
Speaker 3: any such group is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria.
22:11
Speaker 3: Thirty one hundred versus four four hundred and seventy six worldwide.
22:15
Speaker 3: Something must be done. I am asking Congressman Riley Moore,
22:19
Speaker 3: together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee,
22:23
Speaker 3: to immediately look into this matter and report back to me.
22:26
Speaker 3: The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are
22:30
Speaker 3: happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries. We stand ready,
22:35
Speaker 3: willing and able to save our great Christian population around
22:39
Speaker 3: the world. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States,
22:42
Speaker 3: that was exactly the right thing to do. I saw
22:45
Speaker 3: President Trump shortly after he issued that designation and I
22:50
Speaker 3: thanked him. I said, it really makes a difference. It's
22:53
Speaker 3: the right thing to do. He was happy to do it.
22:56
Speaker 3: And I'll tell you the government in Nigeria is deeply
23:01
Speaker 3: and their response, their main defense they say, well, they
23:05
Speaker 3: argue it's not a genocide. And what they say is, well, yes,
23:09
Speaker 3: fifty thousand Christians have been killed, but you know what,
23:12
Speaker 3: Bukah Haram has also killed Muslims, so it's all fine. Well,
23:16
Speaker 3: it is true they have killed Muslims. Nobody's disputing that
23:18
Speaker 3: they've killed Muslims as well. But radical Islamic terrorists target
23:23
Speaker 3: Christians in particular for persecution, and the government is complicit
23:28
Speaker 3: in that persecution. That's what this is designed to address.
23:32
Speaker 3: And and you know, I got to say, you and
23:36
Speaker 3: I have talked about before that those who hate Jews
23:41
Speaker 3: hate Christians, and those who hate Israel hate America. That
23:45
Speaker 3: that is true. We've also talked about rising anti Semitism,
23:48
Speaker 3: and we've talked quite a bit about Tucker Carlson because
23:51
Speaker 3: I think Tucker has unfortunately gone down a very very
23:54
Speaker 3: dark path, a path where he brings on Hitler, praising
23:58
Speaker 3: nutjobs on to do show over and over and over again.
24:03
Speaker 3: But it also results. Not only does he attack Israel
24:07
Speaker 3: at almost every show he does, but when you go
24:11
Speaker 3: on the path of hating Israel and blame everything on
24:15
Speaker 3: the Jews, that often that same dark path leads you
24:20
Speaker 3: to embrace the enemies of America. So Tucker has said
24:23
Speaker 3: we should apologize to the family of Osama bin Laden. No, no,
24:27
Speaker 3: we should not. Tucker has said he doesn't know that
24:30
Speaker 3: Hamas is a terrorist organization. They might just be a
24:33
Speaker 3: political group. I'm sorry, but when you murder twelve hundred
24:37
Speaker 3: innocent civilians and rape women and children, you are most
24:40
Speaker 3: definitely a terrorist group. And Hamas has killed a great
24:43
Speaker 3: many Americans. But it really was striking. Just recently, Tucker
24:48
Speaker 3: did a show where he talked about Nigerians and he
24:51
Speaker 3: disputed that Christians in Nigeria are being persecuted. I want
24:54
Speaker 3: you to give a listen because he took the chance
24:58
Speaker 3: to basically defend Book Haram. Give a listen.
25:02
Speaker 5: But he's all of a sudden, kind of out of nowhere,
25:04
Speaker 5: deeply concerned about the play of Christians in Nigeria, which
25:06
Speaker 5: I want to restate maybe a tolly bel concerning them.
25:09
Speaker 5: But that's weird. What is that all of a sudden
25:11
Speaker 5: everybody's concern about people who clearly have no track record
25:14
Speaker 5: being interested in Chritians at all, including ce Cruz. What
25:16
Speaker 5: is going on?
25:18
Speaker 1: That to me was pretty unhinged.
25:20
Speaker 3: Senator, Look, I gotta say, listen. I understand that Tucker's
25:25
Speaker 3: told the world there's no one he hates more than
25:27
Speaker 3: Christian Zionists, and he singled out me and Mike Huckabee
25:30
Speaker 3: as the people he hates the most in the world.
25:33
Speaker 3: But that's truly a bizarre claim. What he says there,
25:36
Speaker 3: which is that I have no interest in defending persecuted Christians.
25:40
Speaker 3: I've literally spent thirteen years doing that. You know, I
25:43
Speaker 3: might ask Tucker that does he have any idea who
25:46
Speaker 3: Miriam Ibrahim is? And I suspect he doesn't. So Mariam
25:49
Speaker 3: Ibrahim was a Christian woman in Soudan and she was
25:54
Speaker 3: imprisoned and she was sentenced to receive one hundred lashes
25:59
Speaker 3: and then to by the neck until dead for the
26:02
Speaker 3: crime of being a Christian. And this was during Barack
26:05
Speaker 3: Obama's presidency. This was early in my time in the Senate.
26:08
Speaker 3: And I spoke out vocally for Miriam Ibrahim. And she
26:13
Speaker 3: had two little kids. She had a son named Martin,
26:16
Speaker 3: and she actually gave birth to a daughter, Maya while
26:19
Speaker 3: she was in leg irons. And I'll tell you, I repeatedly,
26:23
Speaker 3: practically begged the Obama administration for President Obama to just
26:27
Speaker 3: say her name. He would not do it. He never
26:29
Speaker 3: once said her name. I went to the Senate floor,
26:32
Speaker 3: I gave floor speeches. I shined a light, and globally
26:36
Speaker 3: many the Pope got involved shining a light defending her,
26:39
Speaker 3: and the pressure became so great Soudan released her. And Ben,
26:44
Speaker 3: I'll tell you it's an amazing thing. I actually got
26:46
Speaker 3: to meet Mariam Ibrahim when she came to Washington, and
26:50
Speaker 3: I asked her. She was a little bitty woman. She's
26:52
Speaker 3: not very very tall, maybe five to one. She couldn't
26:55
Speaker 3: have weighed more than one hundred pounds. And I asked her,
26:58
Speaker 3: I said, Mariam, tell me, when when you were in
27:01
Speaker 3: that prison cell and your babies are in front of you,
27:04
Speaker 3: and you've been sentenced to die for your faith, how
27:08
Speaker 3: did you not give up hope? And she looked at
27:11
Speaker 3: me with a peace that I'll never forget, and she
27:14
Speaker 3: just said Jesus was with me. And I mean, it
27:18
Speaker 3: was powerful, incredible. But I think this illustrates how anti
27:25
Speaker 3: Semitism is a poison that ends up poisoning every other view.
27:29
Speaker 3: So now Tucker is running around defending Hamas, defending Book
27:33
Speaker 3: of Haram, saying, well, I don't know that Nigerians or
27:36
Speaker 3: Christians are being killed in Nigeria, and why does anyone
27:39
Speaker 3: care about that? And apparently Tucker is only interested in
27:43
Speaker 3: atrocities if he can blame them on Israel, And since
27:46
Speaker 3: it's not Israel that's killing Christians in Nigeria, it's not
27:49
Speaker 3: a concern for him. Look, I think we should defend
27:53
Speaker 3: Christians when they're being persecuted. I think we should defend
27:55
Speaker 3: Jews when they're being persecuted. I think we should stand
27:59
Speaker 3: up and and and and make a difference. Now that
28:02
Speaker 3: doesn't mean that we invade every country in which there's injustice,
28:06
Speaker 3: but it does mean we use our voice as a
28:11
Speaker 3: voice to stand up for those. And Look, as you know,
28:14
Speaker 3: my dad was imprisoned and tortured in Cuba, and so
28:18
Speaker 3: I have a particular heart for for people who are
28:22
Speaker 3: unjustly detained uh and and and have spent a long
28:26
Speaker 3: time highlighting and and doing everything we can to get
28:31
Speaker 3: people out of unjust attentions, whether in in Sudan or China,
28:35
Speaker 3: or or or uh Lebanon or anywhere. And and and
28:42
Speaker 3: I'm very glad President Trump is standing up for the
28:44
Speaker 3: Christians in Nigeria.
28:46
Speaker 2: I want to take a moment and just talk to
28:48
Speaker 2: you real quick about an incredible opportunity for you to
28:51
Speaker 2: continue to expand your mind and learn, no matter what
28:55
Speaker 2: your age is. Senator Cruz and I were at the
28:58
Speaker 2: memorial service for Charlie Kurr and one of the people
29:01
Speaker 2: that spoke was the president of Hillsdale College, and he
29:04
Speaker 2: talked about meeting with Charlie early on and how he said,
29:06
Speaker 2: you're going to have to work hard. You're going to
29:10
Speaker 2: have to suffer, and you're going to have to continue
29:13
Speaker 2: to learn. When he was so young and he talked
29:15
Speaker 2: about all of the classes that Charlie ended up taking
29:19
Speaker 2: at Hillsdale, I immediately said, I want the listeners of
29:24
Speaker 2: this show to be able to have the same opportunity
29:26
Speaker 2: to do that. There are amazing classes history, economics, the
29:30
Speaker 2: great works of literature, the meaning of the US Constitution.
29:34
Speaker 1: And if you didn't say these.
29:35
Speaker 2: Things in school, or maybe you did, but you were, like,
29:37
Speaker 2: you know, just trying to check the box and make
29:39
Speaker 2: the grade when you're twenty, now is a great time
29:41
Speaker 2: for you to go back and learn so much more.
29:44
Speaker 2: Hillsdale College is offering more than forty free I want
29:49
Speaker 2: to say that again, forty free online courses. That's right,
29:53
Speaker 2: more than forty free online courses. You can learn about
29:56
Speaker 2: the works of C. S. Lewis, the stories in the
29:58
Speaker 2: Book of Genesis, the meaning of the US Constitution. I'm
30:02
Speaker 2: doing that when it's incredible, the rise and fall of
30:05
Speaker 2: the Roman Republic, or the history of the ancient Christian Church.
30:08
Speaker 2: With his college's free online courses. Now I'm also looking
30:12
Speaker 2: at the Constitution one on one. It's amazing. I refresh
30:15
Speaker 2: your course and you can see and explore the design,
30:19
Speaker 2: the purpose of the Constitution, the challenges it faced in
30:22
Speaker 2: the Civil War, and how it's been undermined for more
30:25
Speaker 2: than a century by progressives and liberals. This twelve lecture
30:29
Speaker 2: course is self paced, so you start whenever you want to,
30:34
Speaker 2: and it is truly amazing.
30:36
Speaker 1: So how do you do this?
30:38
Speaker 2: You can go right now to Hillsdale dot edu slash
30:43
Speaker 2: verdict to enroll. There is no cost and it's easy
30:48
Speaker 2: to get started. That's Hillsdale dot edu slash verdict v
30:54
Speaker 2: r diict to enroll for free and take any one
30:58
Speaker 2: of these classes. Take advantage of it. It's free Hillsdale
31:02
Speaker 2: dot edu slash v e r d I c t
31:05
Speaker 2: verdict and go check out the amazing classes they have there.
31:09
Speaker 2: All right, I want to end the show with talking
31:12
Speaker 2: about something else that is really made me sad this week.
31:15
Speaker 2: It's also I think, really telling you where we are
31:19
Speaker 2: as a country with the radical left. We have seen
31:22
Speaker 2: violent protesters at a Turning Point US USA event at
31:27
Speaker 2: UC Berkeley. I wish it wasn't what we witnessed, but
31:32
Speaker 2: it was radical leftists. I want to know who's funding them, Senator,
31:36
Speaker 2: I want to know who's behind this, but it is
31:39
Speaker 2: it is shocking to see this level of rhetoric and
31:43
Speaker 2: attacks on conservatives who are just going to have a conversation.
31:48
Speaker 2: And it's very eerily close to what we witnessed with
31:51
Speaker 2: the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
31:53
Speaker 1: Yeah.
31:53
Speaker 3: Look, the pattern of left wing violence continues, and it
31:56
Speaker 3: continues across the country, and it continues with the acquiescence
32:01
Speaker 3: and support of of many on the far left, far
32:04
Speaker 3: too many on the far left.
32:06
Speaker 4: Uh.
32:06
Speaker 3: This week, Turning Point USA had a rally at u
32:10
Speaker 3: C Berkeley. Now, the speakers at the rally were doctor
32:14
Speaker 3: Frank Turik, who's a Christian pastor, and Rob Schneider, who's
32:19
Speaker 3: a comedian and actor. So it's it's not like either
32:22
Speaker 3: of these speakers were particularly controversial in any normal or
32:26
Speaker 3: sane place. But but UC Berkeley is not necessarily a
32:33
Speaker 3: normal or sane place, and and Antifa targeted them, targeted
32:38
Speaker 3: the people coming into the rally coming in to see
32:41
Speaker 3: to to see listen to the speakers, and they were violent. Uh,
32:46
Speaker 3: let me read how how how Fox covered it. A
32:50
Speaker 3: bloody fight broke out near the University of California Berkeley
32:52
Speaker 3: on Monday afternoon ahead of a Turning Point USA event
32:55
Speaker 3: on campus. The event, which featured doctor Frank Turk and
32:58
Speaker 3: Rob Schneider mark the end of this is Turning Point Tour.
33:03
Speaker 3: It took place just two months after Turning Point USA's
33:05
Speaker 3: founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a campus event in
33:09
Speaker 3: Utah on September tenth. The confrontation erupted around four thirty
33:14
Speaker 3: pm Pacific Standard time. During the brawl, two men were
33:17
Speaker 3: seen fighting each other, one of whom had blood gushing
33:21
Speaker 3: from his face, and you can watch the video. Video
33:25
Speaker 3: taken by Fox News Digital also shows a crowd of
33:28
Speaker 3: agitators gathered around the fight. These were left wing antifa activists.
33:39
Speaker 3: They were chanting obscene chants that they were celebrating that
33:45
Speaker 3: Charlie Kirk had been murdered. They were chanting how happy
33:49
Speaker 3: they are about that. Most of them had masks. And
33:57
Speaker 3: you can watch the video online of one of the
34:00
Speaker 3: people coming to the Turning Point event who they beat
34:05
Speaker 3: the hell out of him and his face is bleeding
34:07
Speaker 3: profusely and they engaged in violence. And I'll tell you
34:11
Speaker 3: what is frustrating is where was the administration of Berkeley
34:17
Speaker 3: where was the police? Why are they allowing violent protesters?
34:21
Speaker 3: And look, these are the same administrators. This is the
34:23
Speaker 3: same faculty that allowed their campuses to be taken over
34:27
Speaker 3: for weeks and months on end by radical anti Semitic protesters,
34:32
Speaker 3: by antifa communists who again engage in threats of violence.
34:36
Speaker 3: And in both instances, these are not organic. They're being
34:40
Speaker 3: paid for. There is I've been saying for a long time,
34:44
Speaker 3: follow the money. I've been urging the Department of Justice
34:47
Speaker 3: and the FBI to follow the money. I've introduced legislation,
34:50
Speaker 3: the Stop Thunders Act to add rioting as a predicate act. Tariko,
34:54
Speaker 3: to let us go after the money that is behind
34:58
Speaker 3: these violent anarchists. And I'll tell you what's being reported now.
35:01
Speaker 3: This is another story. Fox News covered UC Berkeley's bloody
35:05
Speaker 3: protest of Turning Point USA, allegedly funded by far left nonprofit.
35:10
Speaker 3: Attorney General Pambondy opens anti terrorism investigation into campus clash
35:16
Speaker 3: outside Turning Point USA event. And here's what Fox reports.
35:20
Speaker 3: Last month, a band of demonstrators marched across West Temple
35:24
Speaker 3: Street in downtown Los Angeles in the national anti Trump
35:29
Speaker 3: No King's protest, carrying a banner that read defeat Trump's
35:33
Speaker 3: fascist takeover, stop ice raids and deportations by any means necessary.
35:40
Speaker 3: And in one corner, four bold letters stood out B
35:46
Speaker 3: A M N, an acronym for by any means necessary.
35:52
Speaker 3: The rest of the banner spelled out clues to the
35:54
Speaker 3: group's full name and smaller print quote Coalition to defend
35:58
Speaker 3: Affirmative Action in agration and immigration rights and fight for
36:02
Speaker 3: equality by any means necessary. That organization one of two
36:08
Speaker 3: hundred and sixty six groups with combined annual revenues of
36:13
Speaker 3: two point nine billion dollars two point nine billion dollars
36:18
Speaker 3: identified by Fox News Digital leading the No King's protests,
36:23
Speaker 3: would soon reappear at this week's flashpoint on the campus
36:27
Speaker 3: of University of California, Berkeley, And so this group. A
36:31
Speaker 3: flyer circulated before the demonstration urged participants to quote end
36:37
Speaker 3: fascist turning Points youth oriented campaign of incitement to violence.
36:41
Speaker 3: Now ironically they're accusing Turning Point of incitement to violence,
36:45
Speaker 3: and they show up and violently assault the people who
36:47
Speaker 3: are going to Turning Point. This is its classic Marxist
36:51
Speaker 3: technique of projecting and accusing your opponents of doing what
36:55
Speaker 3: you're doing. And this flier announced a rally outside at
37:00
Speaker 3: Zellerbach Hall an hour before the door's open for the event. Well,
37:05
Speaker 3: the good news is and a QR page printed on
37:09
Speaker 3: the flyer leads to a page on BAMN dot com,
37:15
Speaker 3: which is a domain of this group that was helping
37:17
Speaker 3: fund the No Kings rallies. And so there is an
37:21
Speaker 3: entire ecosystem with money flowing to promote violence. And thankfully
37:27
Speaker 3: the Department of Justice under Pambondi has announced that they're
37:32
Speaker 3: doing an anti terrorism investigation to go after to follow
37:36
Speaker 3: the money. And I'll tell you also, the Assistant Attorney
37:39
Speaker 3: General for Civil Rights is questioning, is questioning why Berkeley
37:48
Speaker 3: allowed this to happen. In fact, Assistant Attorney General for
37:53
Speaker 3: Civil Rights Arment Dylan formally demanded that you see Berkeley
37:58
Speaker 3: preserve all records regarding their response to the mob violence
38:04
Speaker 3: at at Berkeley's Turning Point USA event. All records good.
38:09
Speaker 3: And that's because I suspect they're going to find They're
38:13
Speaker 3: going to find emails, They're going to find administrators saying
38:17
Speaker 3: communicating back and forth, just like we did with the
38:19
