Speaker 1: The 1986 scavenger hunt is almost complete. 40 years in
• 0:08
  Speaker 1: the making?
• 0:09
  Speaker 2: Well, not quite.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: Olivia and Addison found the information about the scavenger hunt
• 0:15
Speaker 1: and the first clue in a library book. Now, with
• 0:19
Speaker 1: the last clue in hand, they're ready to solve the
• 0:22
Speaker 1: final clue. Did you miss the first three.
• 0:25
Speaker 2: Episodes of this miniseries?
• 0:27
Speaker 1: It's okay. Jump back and start with episode one. It's
• 0:31
Speaker 1: called Hidden Thanks. We'll wait right here for you.
• 0:35
  Speaker 2: Okay, everyone ready?
• 0:37
Speaker 1: Let's join Addison and Olivia for the last clue in
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: today's episode called 101.
• 0:46
Speaker 3: Last clue. Let's read it again.
• 0:48
Speaker 4: Okay, the last clue. Look for where 100 have sung.
• 0:55
  Speaker 4: Praising the one.
• 0:57
Speaker 3: The one with a capital O. So this has to
• 1:00
Speaker 3: be a place where people sing hymns and praise, right?
• 1:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. The church?
• 1:05
Speaker 3: That's the obvious answer, yeah. But where else do people
• 1:09
  Speaker 3: sing praises?
• 1:10
Speaker 2: Um, anywhere. Some people sing all the time.
• 1:13
Speaker 3: True, but hundreds. So this is a group, like a choir.
• 1:18
Speaker 2: It's got to be the Harmony Corner Church. Lead on.
• 1:30
Speaker 3: So, where to start?
• 1:32
Speaker 5: So, Reader, we can plan for next week, then?
• 1:36
  Speaker 6: Sure, Jake.
• 1:37
Speaker 5: Oh, hey, Olivia and Addison. Giving up on your scavenger.
• 1:40
  Speaker 2: Hunt, eh?
• 1:41
  Speaker 4: No.
• 1:42
Speaker 3: We're on our last clue.
• 1:43
Speaker 2: Wait, what? Yeah, we found all four clues.
• 1:48
Speaker 6: What's all this about? Oh, look, Reader.
• 1:50
Speaker 3: I signed out this book at the library and this
• 1:53
  Speaker 3: was in it.
• 1:55
Speaker 6: Oh, now that looks familiar.
• 1:57
Speaker 3: It's a flyer for a scavenger hunt for the youth
• 1:59
  Speaker 3: group in 1986.
• 2:02
Speaker 6: Lead on. The Discovery Mountain Youth Department.
• 2:06
  Speaker 7: Huh.
• 2:07
  Speaker 6: I remember this.
• 2:08
Speaker 2: Reader, you were a youth in 1986? You were a
• 2:13
Speaker 2: part of the scavenger hunt?
• 2:14
Speaker 6: Well, not exactly. I was a young teacher in those days.
• 2:18
Speaker 6: But I definitely remember this flyer. I must have helped
• 2:22
  Speaker 6: with it.
• 2:23
Speaker 3: So maybe you can help us. What does the last
• 2:25
  Speaker 3: clue mean?
• 2:26
Speaker 5: Hey, that's cheating sort of, isn't it?
• 2:29
Speaker 6: No, it's not a contest, Jake. What's the clue?
• 2:33
Speaker 3: Look where 100 have sung, praising the one. Huh.
• 2:38
Speaker 6: Now I should know this.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: It has to be the church.
• 2:43
Speaker 6: I'd agree, but I'm not remembering.
• 2:46
Speaker 5: Where 100 have sung? That must be a choir.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the choir sings up front.
• 2:56
Speaker 3: It's a great view from up front. Now, what in
• 2:59
Speaker 3: this area is from 40 years ago?
• 3:02
Speaker 2: The church is older than that. Is something hidden in
• 3:05
Speaker 2: the walls? Like a secret passage?
• 3:08
Speaker 5: Ooh, that'd be amazing!
• 3:10
  Speaker 7: No.
• 3:11
Speaker 6: No, this was the last clue. So you're not looking
• 3:15
Speaker 6: for another clue. You're looking for a conclusion.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: A conclusion? Oh, so something the youth department leaders planned
• 3:23
Speaker 3: so that all the youth came back to the church.
• 3:26
  Speaker 4: Yes.
• 3:27
  Speaker 3: I remember.
• 3:28
  Speaker 5: Oh, good.
• 3:29
  Speaker 2: What is it?
• 3:30
Speaker 6: Um, you'll figure it out. You're a good team. Use
• 3:34
Speaker 6: your powers of observation.
• 3:36
Speaker 5: Reader, you're acting like a teacher.
• 3:39
Speaker 6: Well, once a teacher, always a teacher, I'm afraid.
• 3:44
Speaker 3: Okay, no, that's fair. Let's study the clue. Where 100
• 3:48
Speaker 3: have sung, hmm, it doesn't say a hundred, which is
• 3:53
Speaker 3: how you might normally say that sentence.
• 3:55
Speaker 2: No, 100 is more like an intentional number.
• 3:58
Speaker 5: 100? You're looking for a hundred of something.
• 4:02
  Speaker 3: I guess.
• 4:03
  Speaker 2: 100. 100.
• 4:05
  Speaker 6: Hmm.
• 4:07
Speaker 2: But look, it says praising the one.
• 4:10
Speaker 4: It could have said praising God or praising our Savior
• 4:12
Speaker 4: or one of the many names for God.
• 4:15
Speaker 3: Oh, you think the one is another number clue?
• 4:18
  Speaker 2: I mean, maybe. So 101?
• 4:19
  Speaker 5: That's it, Jake.
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: 101.
• 4:20
Speaker 5: That's our number. A hundred and one.
• 4:26
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course.
• 4:28
  Speaker 5: I'm brilliant.
• 4:30
  Speaker 4: So, 101 what?
• 4:35
Speaker 3: Use our powers of observation.
• 4:37
  Speaker 4: Good.
• 4:38
Speaker 5: What are there 101 of in the church?
• 4:42
  Speaker 2: Candles? No. Pews?
• 4:45
Speaker 3: Uh, no, not quite.
• 4:47
  Speaker 4: People?
• 4:48
Speaker 5: Not at this moment. Just empty pews. Nothing but hymnals.
• 4:54
Speaker 2: Hymnals? Jake, that's it. Right, reader?
• 4:57
Speaker 6: Take a look and see.
• 5:00
  Speaker 3: Hymn 101.
• 5:03
  Speaker 5: What is it?
• 5:03
Speaker 2: Which hymn? He leadeth me.
• 5:07
Speaker 4: Oh, the conclusion of the lead-on scavenger hunt.
• 5:11
Speaker 6: You got it. It's such a beautiful hymn.
• 5:14
  Speaker 4: It is.
• 5:16
Speaker 3: He leadeth me, O blessed thought, O words with heavenly
• 5:19
Speaker 3: comfort fraught, Whatever I do, wherever I be, still tis
• 5:24
Speaker 3: God's hand that leadeth me.
• 5:26
Speaker 4: Oh, that fits so well. The scavenger hunt was full
• 5:29
Speaker 4: of clues showing that God leads us.
• 5:32
Speaker 5: Oh, the chorus for this hymn is amazing. I'll sing
• 5:35
Speaker 5: it for us. He leadeth me.
• 5:38
  Speaker 1: He leadeth me.
• 5:40
Speaker 3: Uh, my dear brother, why doesn't Reeder sing it for us?
• 5:44
Speaker 3: You know, for old time's sake.
• 5:46
  Speaker 4: Oh, sure.
• 5:48
Speaker 6: Let's see. Putting me on the spot here, a cappella.
• 5:55
Speaker 7: He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand
• 6:02
Speaker 7: he leadeth me. His faithful follower I would be, for
• 6:10
Speaker 7: by his hand he leadeth me.
• 6:14
  Speaker 5: Oh, that's beautiful.
• 6:17
Speaker 6: Yes, as I recall, the church was full of youth.
• 6:21
Speaker 6: We had a lot more kids in town in those
• 6:23
Speaker 6: days than we do now. We were packed.
• 6:26
Speaker 3: And that was the conclusion. What a faith exercise.
• 6:30
  Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely.
• 6:32
Speaker 4: I'm so glad that someone used the flyer and clue
• 6:35
Speaker 4: number one as a bookmark.
• 6:37
Speaker 6: Now, let me see that book.
• 6:40
Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. It's about Alaska.
• 6:42
Speaker 6: Alaska. Yes. My friend and I were planning a trip
• 6:46
Speaker 6: to Alaska the summer of 86. We weren't able to go.
• 6:50
Speaker 2: Reader, did you put these things in the book?
• 6:54
Speaker 6: Well, I might have. I don't recall, but it's very possible.
• 6:58
Speaker 3: And you helped us finish the scavenger hunt.
• 7:01
Speaker 4: It's inspiring to think of youth filling this church and
• 7:03
Speaker 4: singing praises all those years ago.
• 7:06
Speaker 5: This church has been a place where faith grows for
• 7:08
  Speaker 5: a long time.
• 7:10
  Speaker 6: It sure has.
• 7:12
Speaker 5: We should have a scavenger hunt for our youth group.
• 7:15
  Speaker 5: I'm inspired.
• 7:16
  Speaker 6: That's a great idea, Jake.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: I'll help. Me too.
• 7:20
Speaker 5: And maybe in 40 years, someone else will find our clues.
• 7:23
Speaker 3: Well, you never know. Faith exercises apparently don't expire.
• 7:28
  Speaker 2: Never.
• 7:29
Speaker 5: Okay, now let's get to work. What should our theme be? Oh,
• 7:33
Speaker 5: I love the 80s font. We should start there.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: The scavenger hunt ended with a grand finale. A hymn
• 7:41
Speaker 1: about God's leading has inspired Jake to share this faith
• 7:44
Speaker 1: exercise with a new generation.
• 7:48
Speaker 5: What do you think?
• 7:49
Speaker 1: Would your youth group enjoy a faith-filled scavenger hunt?
• 7:53
Speaker 5: Are you inspired too?
• 7:54
Speaker 2: Well, if you are, let God lead.
• 7:58
  Speaker 3: Lead on.
