- 0:57We are on Spotify another podcasting platforms as well. Like I said, ten
- 1:02years strong here, it's got a lot of great content this week on the
- 1:03show and well into the future. I'm Jeff Warren and I'm here at my
- 1:07good buddy Eric Leonard. Eric, how you doing? Man? We had
- 1:11a discussion before the show and I always ask you and Leonard like how you
- 1:18doing? And it's like, oh boy, I hope we will be able
- 1:21to get through the show. Well, you and I are talking about what
- 1:25does a blood clot feel like, yes, I'm talking about my kids school
- 1:30and an asshole teacher there. Yeah, yeah, just just that midlife parents
- 1:34parenting crap and just it's just thank God for sports and thank God for dumb
- 1:42top three lists, which we have tonight, because that, honestly is like
- 1:44such a nice Let's just let's just put life away for forty five minutes to
- 1:49an hour and just talk about this stuff because I know people sit on the
- 1:53show like I like, I love the show. It helps me escape,
- 1:56helps me kind of like get through a driver later. It helps us too,
- 1:59guys, really does sometimes, yeah, absolutely does. Because we got
- 2:04Phillies talk on the way. We've got Phillies talk on the way. Of
- 2:06course we do, because they are heading to the NL Divisional Series after sweeping
- 2:13the Miami Marlins. We're certainly going to talk about this Phillies postseason, getting
- 2:17into some predictions for the NL and the AL Championship games, who we think
- 2:21is gonna win this World Series, and really quick, folks, we don't
- 2:24have a guest on this week like we usually do, because, as Eric
- 2:28mentioned, we do have a top three list that we are going to be
- 2:30getting into. But before that top three list, we're gonna talk about James
- 2:34Harden and the fact that he was participating at the Sixers practice out of Colorado
- 2:38State, and it's incredible how this guy is acting right now and given where
- 2:46he's at in his career, and how this seventy six ers organization is handling
- 2:51everything. We're gonna get into that as campus started for the Philadelphia seventy six
- 2:55ers. And then of course we got some Eagles talk here. Eagles are
- 2:58four and zero, but they've been having some problems on defense, as we
- 3:01know, and they went out and signed a gentleman who I love. I
- 3:06love the signing. I absolutely love the signing. Bradley Roby gonna be playing
- 3:10that slot corner position and nickel packages and it was desperately needed. Howie Roseman,
- 3:16I think really doing Estellar jobs still in terms of this roster. And
- 3:22then and then what we're thrown down on the table our new top three list,
- 3:25and this is just completely getting off of the sports subjects that we just
- 3:30focus on here at this show. The top three best TV theme songs of
- 3:36all time. And I'm telling you, folks, I have a feeling Eric
- 3:38and I have not just talked about this at all but I have a feeling
- 3:42we're gonna be going back to the seventies, the eighties, the nineties,
- 3:46possibly early two thousands. Will you know. It's gonna be an interesting list
- 3:51for sure. And again, as Eric and I were talking about before the
- 3:53show, Eric, it was an impossible list to just compile here because there's
- 3:58so many good TV theme songs that you can be like, you know what,
- 4:01that could be number one. They did listen to something else, Oh
- 4:04that could be number one too. There were so many good theme songs,
- 4:10whether it was you know, us growing up listening to them or you know,
- 4:14as we were in college, or so many good theme songs. I
- 4:16just I was just like, I'm just gonna pick my three favorites at this
- 4:20point. So that's what I'm gonna be doing later in the show. And
- 4:25it's funny because I had to look at a bunch of lists too to kind
- 4:28of remember some some older ones. Yeah. But and I have almost no
- 4:35current shows on here, And at first my first thought was, Oh,
- 4:39I'm old, like I don't watch TV anymore. Actually, it's I think
- 4:42it's a combination of that as well as the the advent of the ability to
- 4:46skip the opening of TV shows on Netflix and all the streaming services. Yeah,
- 4:51so I don't think TV's theme songs matter much anymore because you can just
- 4:56literally like every Seinfeld intro like you can just through it on Netflix. I
- 5:00think that has something to do with I have nothing on my list that's even
- 5:04like the newest one I swear is like the nineties. Maybe okay, but
- 5:12I just think that that when they skip intro thing came into play on streaming,
- 5:15that a killed off TV theme songs. That's really interesting. It is
- 5:19interesting. Look, I have one on my top three. Look, we
- 5:23have an honorable mention songs that we're going to get into before our top three
- 5:28list. I will say that on my top three, I actually do have
- 5:30a current theme song. I have one that's current because it is an incredible
- 5:35piece of music for what the show is. And I do have one that's
- 5:41actually current, believe it or not. Okay, Yeah, all right,
- 5:45let's get into this. Philadelphia Phillies Team Buddy O head to the Divisional Series,
- 5:50the National League Divisional Series. Here, we're recording this right after the
- 5:57win. I mean, I'm looking at my TV right now and they're just
- 6:00going through I mean Toronto and Minnesota right now, they're going through the highlights
- 6:04from that game. But Philadelphia Phillies, they are going to be playing the
- 6:08Atlanta Braves in the divisional series. It's gonna be one hell of a divisional
- 6:14series, I think. But I did want to say right off the bat,
- 6:17I am. I'm gonna say that JT. Real Muto has certainly come
- 6:24through in terms of the wild Card, just how he's played over the past
- 6:29few weeks. And I've been down on JT. Real Muto just in terms
- 6:31of, you know, where he was at in his career, the questions
- 6:34that I was raising and the concerns that I've been having on the show over
- 6:38the past couple months about JT and just where he's at in his career right
- 6:42now. And man, he has really been pulling through. And it's so
- 6:46good to see that JT. Real Muto Eric is still JT real Muto.
- 6:51And I just wanted to put that out there because a lot of guys that
- 6:56needed to come through, you know, over the past few weeks here certainly
- 7:00come through for this team. Yeah, and my my brother and I were
- 7:03texting last night about the move by Thompson to move him up in the order.
- 7:09To number five. Yeah, last night and tonight and uh, because
- 7:14it was like a two fold thing. It's like real mood put put real
- 7:16MoWT two up a little bit, give him some give him some pitches in
- 7:18the five hole and see if he kind of kind of reinvigorate him a little
- 7:23bit. And then you could you know, you're you're you're putting Castellanos in
- 7:26stock down to notch a notchra two, which they can handle that because they're
- 7:30both like just pretty good professional players. It was just a great move overall,
- 7:34just minor tweaks, just such a smart It's just one of those like
- 7:39really smart manager moves that you're you're taking care of your guys. All three
- 7:44of them are okay with that move, right because they trust him, and
- 7:46look what it did. It kind of he was what two for three tonight
- 7:49with a double on home run. Yeah, he looked awesome. He called
- 7:54two games behind the plate. He was just he was phenomenal behind the plate
- 7:58calling the game, especially with in game one. Was that with Wheeler.
- 8:01Yeah, my god, he was framing those pitches so well, and he
- 8:05had a couple of strikes for Wheeler with it, not strikes, but just
- 8:07the way he frames and pulls, that pulls the ball into the zone when
- 8:11it's right on the right of the corner of the edge. He was He's
- 8:15he might I mean, besides Wheeler and in Nola, I think he might
- 8:20have been possibly the MVP of the series. Just how ye, just how
- 8:24different he looked and kind of the leaders should be brought to the team.
- 8:26I just wanted to mention him, folks, because I know I've just I've
- 8:30been questioning him in terms of the concerns that I've had, and boy,
- 8:33he has just really stepped up when they needed him. You mentioned Aaron Nola,
- 8:37Eric, And look, as we know, Aaron Nola's twenty twenty three
- 8:41season has had more downs than ups. But over his last two starts prior
- 8:46to this wild card game here, I mean he's been very effective. I
- 8:50mean, going six innings against the Braves given up just two runs, and
- 8:54then six and two thirds innings against the Pirates, allowing just one run in
- 8:58his last time during the regular season, but most importantly, he struck out
- 9:03sixteen batters and walked none during that point in time before the wild card matchup.
- 9:11And Aaron Nola looks good. He looked great. Against the Marlins in
- 9:16Game two. Here, looks like he is ready to play. Looks like
- 9:18he is ready for this upcoming series against the Braves, because if they are
- 9:24going to advance, if they are going to have a chance to advance and
- 9:28beat the Atlanta Braves, which I do think is possible, folks, because
- 9:31as we know, based on last year, when the magic hits, anything
- 9:35is possible. If that magic does hit Aaron Nola, it is very possible
- 9:39that we're going to be able to see this team head into the NLCS.
- 9:45Quite frankly, so, I don't want to put the car before the horse
- 9:48here, but man, Aaron Nola is looking good here. Eric cliche cliche
- 9:52time, you need to get a cliche button like an old radio show.
- 9:58Yes, yeah, one thing, one thing. It hit me and watching
- 10:01both of them tonight or Wheeler last night and Nola tonight was like, just
- 10:05how crisp and clean their pitches were, especially they're they're they're they're good stuff,
- 10:09right, Like Nola's fastball curveball combo. He's just that's he's a fastball
- 10:15curveball guy. And the curveball was just dropping beautifully. It was and then
- 10:20I you know, last night Wheeler's four seam fastball was just it was humming
- 10:22and moving too, like it was moving, had that kind of quick tail
- 10:26at the end at ninety six miles an hour. He looked great, that
- 10:30slurb that he does. He was He had guys just flummox at the at
- 10:35the plate. And when when when the hell did a slider become a sweeper?
- 10:41Yeah? What? Yes? Yes? When did that happen? Because
- 10:43I don't know, I feel old. I think it happened this year because
- 10:46I've never I've heard the term before, but I'm like this, we're going
- 10:50with like I didn't get the memoy coach, I didn't get I didn't get
- 10:54that in the mail. So I have no idea, no idea here.
- 10:58But I'll tell you, folks, it's gonna be an interesting MLB playoffs for
- 11:03sure, against again Phillies playing the Atlanta Braves. We've got the Diamondbacks playing
- 11:09the Dodgers. We've got the over in the al Twins taken on the Orioles,
- 11:15and I believe the Astros are taken on the Twins. So this is
- 11:20gonna be fun. It is gonna be real fun to see who gets to
- 11:24the NLCS. The Alcs Eric, I actually think, I actually think the
- 11:31Phillies are gonna do it. I really do. I know how hot this
- 11:35Braves team has been. We all do. Anybody that follows baseball knows and
- 11:39understands how hot this Braves team is and how indestructible they seem to be during
- 11:45twenty twenty three here. But again, it is the playoffs and that magic
- 11:50I talked about, and that feeling, and especially in Citizens Bank Park where
- 11:54the Phillies do have an edge, and now they're not gonna have home field.
- 11:58However, it's really gonna come down to the starting pitching, and I
- 12:03just have that feeling. It's a gut feeling. There's absolutely no stats that
- 12:07I'm reading off of my computer screen right now, but it's that gut feeling
- 12:11that this team can actually pull this out and get to the NLCS. I
- 12:16do believe that we are going to see a Diamondbacks in Philadelphia Phillies NLCS.
- 12:24That's my prediction here. Probably going to be wrong, but that's my prediction.
- 12:28What are you thinking here, buddy? I'm sorry, just real quick.
- 12:33The Phillies have like something in their back pocket they've never really had in
- 12:37the playoffs. Kirkering he pitched tonight. They just brought them up. They
- 12:43brought him up a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, it's crazy. And
- 12:46they were doing the they were doing the comparison tonight on on the broadcast of
- 12:50Joba Chamberlain when he was like the hot arm with the Yankees. He kind
- 12:54of came out of nowhere. Yeah. I can't remember the last time the
- 12:56Phillies had had a player like come out of nowhere and just mow dudes down
- 13:03for a couple of weeks. But a great point. Yeah, and he
- 13:05made the roster. It's like, wow, Okay that that feels a little
- 13:07special, you know. Now. I think the Braves team were playing this
- 13:11year is better than last year, the team we beat. I think Akun
- 13:16is the best player in the league at this point. I think Matt Olson
- 13:20is awesome. But again, I don't think the Braves. They have home
- 13:24field, but it's not really home field that those fans are not like our
- 13:28fans. It's not even close exactly. I do think they're gonna beat I
- 13:33think the Phillies are going to beat the Braves. Honestly, do I think
- 13:35the Dodgers are going to beat the Diamondbacks And that's rure. I'm stuck,
- 13:39man. I don't do you think the Phillies go all the way to the
- 13:43World Series? Oh my god? Do I'm asking, yeah, what do
- 13:46you? What do you think? The gut that I'm saying, if they're
- 13:48able to con if they're able to continue with the consistency here, and if
- 13:52they are able to put up at least six runs in each game, which
- 13:58I know is not each game I should say, you know, I mean
- 14:00within the series itself. If they're able to put up four times they put
- 14:05up six runs in four different games, then yes, I think they're going
- 14:09to go to the World Series. Because at the end of the day,
- 14:13as we know, it's been tough to trust trust the pitching. However,
- 14:16in this wild Card we've seen what the pitching has done and you're like,
- 14:20oh my god, it's all coming together here. Does the magic start right
- 14:22now? And that's why I'm thinking, yes, it could happen. But
- 14:26I hate saying it. I really hate saying it, you know what I
- 14:31mean. And it's not even about the jinks. It's more just, oh
- 14:35my god, I'm starting to feel what I was feeling last year. I
- 14:37remember those feelings and I'm like, I just don't want to get ahead of
- 14:43myself. I don't want the fan base to get ahead of themselves. But
- 14:45it's really tough not to. But I think with this team, I've kind
- 14:50of put aside my Nagadelphia stuff with this squad because there is something to them,
- 14:56and I've talked about here long how they're like the most likable team in
- 14:58the city right now, and I just I think they're going to go back.
- 15:03I really do. I think they're going to go back to the World
- 15:05Series. Could could I see the Braves beating them in six games and then
- 15:09we're not having this contra totally. But I I just have that feeling that
- 15:13if we can get a split in Atlanta the first two, you in one
- 15:16of those games you come home, that home crowd is going to absolute ape
- 15:20shit. I know, I know they're baseball players and I be affected,
- 15:24but there's no fucking way that Braves aren't going to be like, wow,
- 15:28this is uh, this is something else. That guy just called my mother
- 15:31what, Like I've never heard that word in my life. Like, I
- 15:35feel like that we out of all the teams left, like the eight squads,
- 15:37like we have the home field advantage by far in terms of fans.
- 15:41Yes, I'm praying to God it's not a doll as hell Astros Braves World
- 15:48Series. I'm already bored by that. No it is. I know in
- 15:52my heart I really really love Philly's Orioles. That'd be so goddamn cool.
- 15:56I was just going to say that that would be so cool because I mean,
- 16:00not that you would be rooting for the Oils, but I know the
- 16:02Oils are your AL team. You know you love Baltimore, love going Camden
- 16:06Yards. You know you've been down there a number of times with your family
- 16:08and stuff like, that's kind of your AL team, and that it would
- 16:12be fun. That would be a fun series for sure. Well, and
- 16:17they're a young and fun team too, like all those years of draft picks
- 16:21finally have come together. Yeah, and they were damn good this year,
- 16:25I mean start to finish, they were the best team in AL probably And
- 16:30I just in my heart of hearts, I think Phillies Oils will be great.
- 16:36What I what I unfortunately might see happening is what I just said,
- 16:40the Braves Astros or Dodgers Astros, And I'm just gonna be like, yeah,
- 16:45any of this like, I don't like I will, but I've I
- 16:49don't know. I I guess I'm making a prediction. Phillies Orioles, but
- 16:56I'm scared to death is going to be what I just said, really boring,
- 16:59but you know, and then ann ANSWER's gonna be like it's a rematcher
- 17:02the twenty eighteen. It's like, no, you can't sell it, sell
- 17:06it to me. I don't give it any I mean that part of me,
- 17:11part of me is really hoping the diamond or Yeah, the Diamondbacks are
- 17:15gonna take this, you know. I just I'm just so tired of the
- 17:19Dodgers, you know, twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, then twenty twenty,
- 17:26and I am just I'm just tired of them. I still don't think the
- 17:30Houston Astros have gotten their due in terms of people booing them for the cheating
- 17:34that went on they got they got bailed out by a a a worldwide pandemic
- 17:41and virus. They got bailed out, and I'm just so tired of them.
- 17:47I'm tired of both of those teams. They are they are the last
- 17:49teams that I want to see going anywhere. That's why I said Phillies Diamondbacks
- 17:56in the NLCS. That's what I'm hoping for. Logic, I think it
- 18:00would be Phillies Dodgers, and I think the Phillies would beat the Dodgers too.
- 18:03I think the Phillies are going to be any team. I really do.
- 18:06And I know we're getting ahead of ourselves, but yeah, at the
- 18:08end of the day, for me, I'm hoping World Series Phillies and Orioles.
- 18:12That would be fun. That's what I'm praying for. And right now,
- 18:17We've said this a whole bunch during the year, like this team was
- 18:21built to kind of not coast the first three months of this season, but
- 18:26like kind of play their old asses into shape, yeah, and then kick
- 18:30it into gear in August, September and in October. It's kind of exactly
- 18:33what's going on, and you can't tell me. Like watching those bats tonight,
- 18:37the Marlins have good pitching, Like that's not they do. I have
- 18:41saniel Al Kantara and Uri Prez, but you know they still They're another team
- 18:48that's been drafting arms for years and years and years. And those pictures were
- 18:52not awful. Like Lozardo was pretty good for the first couple of innings and
- 18:56we just stuck with it and stuck with it, and it would just tie.
- 19:00Only hitting and guys that understand the moment. We have plenty of guys.
- 19:03I understand them like real mood too, obviously in Harper and Bryson Stott
- 19:10with Bryson Scott with that swing, Oh my god, that Grand Slam was
- 19:15amazing. I mean, he put the tombstone on the Marlins, so when
- 19:18he hit that ball, it was done. And I know the Marlins just
- 19:22not a good team, but let's look at it this way. A pesky
- 19:25team who's been a thorn in our side for how many years? And I
- 19:29even wrote to text all you guys at the beginning of this series. I'm
- 19:32a little winous about this one man. Yeah, for some reason, his
- 19:33team has our number, and we kicked the living shit out of eleven to
- 19:37two and two games. I feel like the momentums there, and if they
- 19:41got to the World Series, I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever. I I love
- 19:45the predictions here and we'd love to know what you're thinking out there. Is
- 19:48this Phillies team is moving forward to the divisional round of this postseason. Man,
- 19:53I'm so excited, so excited, it's gonna be great. Let us

- 20:36We are going to be back in just a bit. All right,
- 20:38everybody, welcome back. It is time to get into some Philadelphia seventy six
- 20:45ers talk as the team is out at Colorado State University campus started and James
- 20:52Harden he is practicing. He is practicing, despite the fact, according to
- 20:59Woj from ESPN, that he wants to make things really uncomfortable for the Philadelphia
- 21:04seventy six ers. That's what has been reported by WOJ. And it was
- 21:10really interesting how a good friend of ours on the podcast from Libertyballers dot Com.
- 21:15We've had him on a number of times, Harrison Grim. He actually
- 21:18tweeted today and I loved it because it encapsulates what James Harden is and where
- 21:25he's at right now in his career. Reiden Harrison's tweet here he said,
- 21:29imagine taking a private jet across the country with the sole intention of throwing a
- 21:36fit and making a scene as a thirty two year old man. And I
- 21:38was like, you know what, Yep, that's where James Harden is at
- 21:41right now in his career. That is where he is at with the intention
- 21:45of throwing a fit, not the intention of being a good teammate, not
- 21:51the intention of helping Joel Embiid get to that championship level, or anybody else
- 21:59on the team, Tyrese Maxey, you know, the some of these other
- 22:03guys on the team, not to be the best type of basketball player he
- 22:07can be, or even with the intention of seeing what he can do in
- 22:12terms of his value, as he's gonna be a free agent after this season.
- 22:17That's not the intention at all. The intention is to make things incredibly
- 22:21uncomfortable for the Philadelphia seventy six ers. I gotta tell you, Eric,
- 22:25I think the mood at training camp might not be as peppy as as those
- 22:30guys on the team really hope at this point because of one James Harden.
- 22:34It's just I can't stand this guy anymore. I just wish he was off
- 22:40the team. I'm sure Daryl Moury in the front office wish he was on
- 22:42off the team. It's not like Daryl Morey hasn't been trying to get rid
- 22:47of him into trade. It just hasn't worked out. It stinks. The
- 22:51Celtics got better, the Bucks got better. The East is going to be
- 22:56extremely interesting with regard to a lot of different teams. It's just, uh,
- 23:03where do you want to go with this one here? I just I
- 23:08can only imagine that first conversation because I'm sure him and Beat haven't seen each
- 23:11other since like the last game. You know, just hey, James,
- 23:17how's your summer? Let me tell you, buddy. Yeah, I disparaged
- 23:22the GM. I yelled a bunch of Chinese kids. I don't want us
- 23:26to succeed at all. I don't want to. I'm here because of a
- 23:33proponent of my contract. If I don't show up here, I can start
- 23:36being fine. Money the only reason I'm here. Oh you see my belly
- 23:41and I haven't. I haven't touched a weight or ran one one inch this
- 23:44summer. But was a strip joints. Yeah, I just had a party
- 23:48at a club and strippers were holding signs that said Daryl Morey is a liar.
- 23:52It's a complete lunatic. I'm assuming it's a Colorado State university because of
- 23:57the weed provisions in that state. Why are there in Colorado State? It
- 24:02makes no sense to me. On top of that, he was not immedia
- 24:04day at all, which I'm sure the Sixers were thrilled with that. To
- 24:07be honest with you, Yeah, he's somebody. More than one person is
- 24:11set on Twitter recently. But one of the guys from the Ringer, one
- 24:15of the NBA guys, just put it, he's he's a Hall of Fame
- 24:18quitter, like he is the King of NBA quitting. Vince Carter, you
- 24:25know, very famously kind of quit on the Raptors and trying to get traded
- 24:29out of that team. But no one's ever quit like this guy. I
- 24:33mean, he goes out in a blaze of glory. He's the guy that
- 24:36goes into the boss and goes, I quit, motherfucker and just shoots off
- 24:41like sparklers and shit like confetti goes blaring everything like he quits in high fashion.
- 24:48Who the hell? Just he's still on the team and he's disparaging the
- 24:52GM. I don't care if he was light. Number one, you're not
- 24:53lied to. You don't have a contract, there's no promises is gonna be
- 24:56made. And we've on the show multiple times this year, right after the
- 25:03Celtics series. Is that you have one option, and that's the show up
- 25:06to be in shape and play your ass off, Yeah, and get that
- 25:08next contract the way you're handling this now because you're not very bright. He's
- 25:12not a bright guy. Let's just you know, I'm not disparaging athletes here,
- 25:17but he in particular is a dummy. He's not smart and to have
- 25:21any sense of where your career is going to be in three years, like
- 25:26you had to bust your ass this year to get one more decent contract and
- 25:30you're already playing this all wrong. Well that's a great segue into like the
- 25:34question I have, which is, does he actually care at this point in
- 25:37his life, at this point in his career, what he has done.
- 25:41I mean, he's done everything, But you know, does he even care
- 25:45at this point? Because it's hard for us as fans to see that,
- 25:49Because it's hard for us to say, how can somebody with that talent just
- 25:53want to give it up? How can somebody with that talent want to give
- 25:56up the millions upon millions of dollars that they would make. It's tough for
- 26:00us as fans to actually see or even accept that that mentality exists out there.
- 26:07But but when you make a commitment to do this stuff, when you
- 26:11sign that contract, you know you're you're you're you're providing, you are providing
- 26:17your talents to a team in the hopes that you're just gonna get out there
- 26:22and win, and you're gonna do everything you can, and and and and
- 26:26start to lay a foundation for something else, perhaps during the twilight of your
- 26:30career. But he's not just laying a foundation. He's blowing everything up at
- 26:33this point. It's hard for us fans to understand that. I think now
- 26:37I understand it. I I he's he's part of this he's what he's part
- 26:41of the the I mean, he's one of the newer there's a long line
- 26:47of guys that didn't care about championships, just wanted to make enough money,
- 26:51right, to be comfortable and never to work again and be famous. He
- 26:55he's taken it to another plateau in the age of social media and you know,
- 27:00an image. He has the beard right, and he's kind of changed.
- 27:04He has actually changed how basketball's played. The step back jumper. He
- 27:08does the two step jump back thing. That's like kind of changed the game.
- 27:12Like I coach kids this, like in fourth and fifth grade. Every
- 27:17kid knows how to do that move. Like that's just how you learn to
- 27:18play basketball. Like I'll give him credit for Like he has actually changed how
- 27:22the game has played. Three pointers. That the double step back thing.
- 27:26Every kid does it now. It's it's actually a standard move in basketball.
- 27:30That's his imprint on the game. It's not championships. It's to be famous
- 27:34that he made that move. He's known for scoring. He has enough money
- 27:37that he never has to work again. And I think he knows he's so
- 27:41famous and doesn't care about rings that I think he maybe he's getting to the
- 27:45point where I could go to China and play for fifty million a year for
- 27:49two years and make as much money as I possibly can, and I don't
- 27:53give a shit if I ever wear, ever win with an NBA ring.
- 27:57Yeah. Yeah, I think he's that newer type of breed of player that,
- 28:03like, you know, I've heard of players in the past that he
- 28:04doesn't care about winning. I don't think he truly doesn't give a fuck about
- 28:07winning. No, he doesn't, and he's never shown anything to prove that
- 28:12he is. I've never seen him in a playoff series sweat and come off
- 28:15going damn man. I really wanted that. He's the kind of guy walks
- 28:18off and it's like well, off season party. And I think he's influential
- 28:25in many ways. Besides that, he's also influential excuse me, off the
- 28:30court. I think you're going to see more of this. Ben Simmons is
- 28:33a great example. He likes being famous, he doesn't give a shit about
- 28:36basketball, right, you know, it's an ironic the two of them were
- 28:40traded for one another, you know. But you're gonna see more and more
- 28:42of this because I mean, once you if you come from nothing and all
- 28:47of a sudden you have three hundred million dollars and and you don't have it
- 28:52in you to want to win that title. It's like, well, I
- 28:55already won, I'm rich and famous. What the hell do I care?
- 28:57Right? And I again is a Philadelphia sportsman. It's hard to wrap your
- 29:02head around that. But you know, I look at him and it's like,
- 29:06holy shit, you're that guy. It's scary. Yeah, you don't.
- 29:08You don't give a shit. And he's on our team. He's on
- 29:11our team that we follow in love, I know. And he's on our
- 29:15team that's on the brink of fall, of crumbling into pieces. And I
- 29:19you know, did I foresee in twenty thirteen going to sixers games when the
- 29:25process started and going Okay, I'm on board with this. And then ten
- 29:29years later it's, Oh, this asshole is going to ruin the whole thing.
- 29:34Who's not going to be in my life? Like like he's not a
- 29:37Philadelphia guy, Like he's going to ruin this whole thing? Like how is
- 29:40he? How is he the tipping point that this is all going to fall
- 29:44apart? I just would have never saw it coming. What a fun ride,
- 29:47but what an asshole for being that final piece? Absolutely of shit,
- 29:52by the way, because he is absolutely is absolutely is all right enough of
- 29:56this Sixers talk here? Oh? I agree, Yes, Nope, enough
- 30:00enough. Yes, let's get into a team that is doing some good things.
- 30:06And I say they're doing some good things because they are four and zero
- 30:10on the season. Of course, the Philadelphia Eagles. Two teams left in
- 30:14the NFL who were undefeated San Francisco forty nine Ers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 30:18But the defense, my gosh, certainly struggled against the Vikings again against the
- 30:23Commanders this past I'm sorry, the comes, the comes. Sorry, but
- 30:30really one of the biggest losses and it's becoming more and more of a concern
- 30:34year after year, losing Avonte Maddox, it's been a major problem for this
- 30:38team. They tried to put a band aid on the slot corner position,
- 30:41specifically in nickel packages. James Bradberry was look, folks, he was performing
- 30:48well in the slot, but Josh job was just getting the shit kicked out
- 30:52of him on the outside taking over for Bradbury out there. So what did
- 30:56Howie Roseman in the front office decided to do. They went out and signed
- 31:00free agent Bradley Roby to play that slot corner position so that James Bradbury can
- 31:07move back to the outside. And it was a good move. And I'll
- 31:12say this right now, as of us recording this here, he's technically still
- 31:15in the practice squad. This is a first for Bradley Roby, you know,
- 31:21but numerous veterans they've taken the practice squad route to return to active rosters
- 31:25basically over the past four seasons. So I think the plan is indeed for
- 31:30Bradley Roby to be bumped up to the fifty three man roster at some point
- 31:33here. As many of us know, he played for New Orleans Saints.
- 31:37He was released on roster cutdowns in August from the Saints and kind of just
- 31:44been waiting for a call. The Eagles called him. He's thirty one years
- 31:48old, and it is interesting that the cornerbacks on this team, the starting
- 31:52cornerbacks on this team, are all in their thirties, whether it be Darius
- 31:56Lay and James Bradberry, two guys who he's the Eagles front office they made
- 32:00a substantial commitment to with regard to this duo, extending Sleigh and re signing
- 32:07Bradbury again, both guys over thirty. Slagh thirty two, Bradbury turning thirty
- 32:13this past offseason, so it's the only the NFL's only team to have two
- 32:17thirty something corners installed as their regular starters. And then bringing Roby on here,
- 32:23another guy in his thirties here his early thirties, so he has made
- 32:28sixty career starts, kind of that off the bench, you know, regular
- 32:30for much of his career with the Broncos, just working in some sub packages
- 32:36for years. And it seems like the Eagles now have their top top corner,
- 32:40their nickel corner, i should say, and slot corner with Bradley Roby
- 32:45here. I think it's a really good, good pickup by Howie Roseman because
- 32:47what was what was being done the past couple of weeks just was not It
- 32:52was not helping this team at all. Eric, So I do think this
- 32:55is a good move, another good move made by the front office of the
- 32:59Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, it's a good cheat move too, Like it doesn't
- 33:01cost him anything. It doesn't work out, so what you know, it's
- 33:05a it's a throwaway, doesn't work out. He's got a ring twenty sixteen
- 33:08with the Denver Broncos, so he comes in with experience and if he's just
- 33:13asked to play the nickel spot, then that's you know, that's all he
- 33:15has to do. I will say, I'm a name guy, like I
- 33:21love a good name. Yeah, Josh Job has a bad name, but
- 33:25I think he was destined to not work out. It's just it doesn't there's
- 33:29no flow to it at all. There's not It sounds like a wrestler name
- 33:31in a way, like Josh a Jobber. Yeah, I can. I
- 33:37can hear Grilla Mons soon now going Josh Job before you know, Hercules comes
- 33:42out and beats the shit out of him. Yes, nine eighty seven.
- 33:45So, speaking of names, how amazing would it be if you combine the
- 33:51two of Bradley Bradberry Brad Bradberry that that's kind of I kind of like that
- 33:57Brad brad Berry. That's all I take it. Like Chris CHRISTI yes,
- 34:02I do. I don't know anything about the guy. I just know he
- 34:05didn't play this year yet. And yeah, it's it's a it's a nice
- 34:08pickup for a team that You're right that that's that. And I think I
- 34:13said that before the season. That was my one concern was the secondary.
- 34:15Yeah, and you've kind of seen it a little bit, So any kind
- 34:19of move that would that would help, especially in a week five where who
- 34:22the hell are you going to sign? Right like, you're looking at the
- 34:23scrap heap at that point, so what the hell take a shot? Absolutely
- 34:28look thoughts on the season at this point, Eric Jalen hurts while he is
- 34:32quote not having the season that he had last year, and of course he's
- 34:36not just in terms of being even a top top four, top five quarterback,
- 34:42he's not that this year in the league. But what he has been
- 34:45doing is when the Eagles are down by at least ten points, he's bringing
- 34:49this team back to win inevitably. That's what you want from your quarterback.
- 34:52Doesn't have to be perfect one percent of the time. Of course, was
- 34:57a nail bier this past week with the command Sorry the Cums, it was
- 35:01a nail bier. It wasn't. They're gonna have those games, especially in
- 35:05the division. I'm not saying that's gonna happen with the New York Giants because
- 35:07they are a complete mess and dumpster fire. But we're gonna see some interesting
- 35:13games with this Dallas Cowboys team too, And when they face the Commanders for
- 35:15a second time. But at the end of the day, Jalen Hurts is
- 35:21bringing this team back and he's doing it in a way which I think is
- 35:25what you want from your franchise quarterback. We're seeing this happen, folks.
- 35:30The Philadelphia Eagles are four and oh again, they're four and zero in a
- 35:34year where there is a lot of bizarre stuff going on, where the Arizona
- 35:37Cardinals are actually being competitive, the fact that there were certain teams that were
- 35:44supposed to take a step forward that haven't necessarily taken that step forward. The
- 35:47Miami Dolphins are a team to potentially be reckoned with in the AFC. It's
- 35:53a bizarre football season. I think everybody would agree with that out there.
- 35:58It's a bizarre season. And again, the Eagles are four and oh,
- 36:01let's really enjoy this. It's not perfect, but they're getting it done and
- 36:05Jillen Hurts is getting it done to eric and it doesn't matter. It's that
- 36:09well, that was an ugly game, but they're four. They're four and
- 36:13oh it doesn't matter, Like, yeah, I don't care, because nice,
- 36:16here's the good thing, Like, your next two games are those are
- 36:20the games you're perfectly set up to go all right, we have two weeks
- 36:22to get this right before the real season kicks in where we play the Dolphins,
- 36:25Cowboys, Chiefs Bills, Like our next five weeks after the Jets game
- 36:31next week are like that's where it's brutal. Yeah, So to be four
- 36:36and oh while you had like no preseason and to have it set up where
- 36:40you have the Rams and Jets as kind of like, let's let's get ourselves
- 36:45right. Like I couldn't ask for much more for a team that like didn't
- 36:49really get to practice much. Like I mean, I have some standard concerns,
- 36:52like Dallas Goddard is just there's just nowhere to be found, like there's
- 36:57no no jiving between him and and it hurts right now. I don't even
- 37:01know if they're I don't even know if they're game planning him, to be
- 37:05honest, because like Nick Sirianni said this week, he's like he said,
- 37:07we got to get Dallas Goddard more involved. So it leads me to believe
- 37:10that Brian Johnson offensive coordinator, along with Nick Sirianni, they haven't been they
- 37:15haven't been making Dallas Goddard a priority, which I cannot understand because he's one
- 37:20of the best tight ends in the league down the field and running post routes
- 37:24for God's sake, and they're just not utilizing them. It's it's incredible.
- 37:28No, there was there was talk of like before the season, is with
- 37:31Kelsey possibly, you know, coming closer to an end of his career.
- 37:36Is I mean Travis Kelsey, he's got it. The next one up,
- 37:38he's the best in the league. And it's like, well, no,
- 37:42that's not happening so far. But but the fact that I'm talking about the
- 37:46tight end and the secondary and we're four and oh and that's kind of all
- 37:52I'm really worried about right now. Yeah, I see, we're in a
- 37:54good spot. The offensive line is just is just plowing through teams. They
- 37:58weren't phenomenal against the Combs. The defensive line was okay, you know,
- 38:04but again, I feel like it was one of those games where it's like,
- 38:07well, let's just let's just get the win and just get out of
- 38:09here kind of deal, you know. And they're like the Marlins to me,
- 38:14like with the Phillies, like that's that's a team that always plays is
- 38:16tough. Yeah, no idea, Why thank god we have the Giants at
- 38:20the end of the year. That is it, absolute diaper filled dumpster fire
- 38:24of the team. I tried to watch the Monday night. I text you
- 38:28guys, I said, I just turned it off. Yeah, this is
- 38:30this is horri I can't watch this. This is horrible. Daniel Jones is
- 38:32not They just gave him, like how much money guaranteed? Like he's horrible.
- 38:37It was everything it was Daniel Jones. It was a makeshift offensive line
- 38:42because of the injuries they had up front there. It was all terrible.
- 38:45I have never seen that poor of football being played. We were bitching a
- 38:50moaning years ago about about the Eagles, Like I remember the year after the
- 38:54Super Bowl. We're all bitching because everybody's on high from the super Bowl,
- 38:58bitching and moaning Wentz and the offensive line not getting it done like the previous
- 39:01year. That freaking offensive line and Wentz looked it looked like they were Kings
- 39:07of the Hill compared to what this Giant's offense looks like. They are horrendous
- 39:14and in a really bizarre season. I don't care how you win, just
- 39:19win. You're four to Oh, there's only only how many teams that are
- 39:22still undefeated. Right the Dolphins got trounce this past weekend. Yeah, when
- 39:25everyone is saying, oh, they're not gonna get beat like, you're right
- 39:29there, I'm not gonna I'm not listening to anything complaining. It's way too
- 39:32early and you have two games to kind of get the ship right, right,
- 39:35So this season is an anomaly. Again. The Dolphins put up seventy
- 39:38and then the very next week they just completely kind of crap the bed and
- 39:43you don't see the productivity. Again. We're gonna see these games from the
- 39:45Eagles, folks, where they just need to pull out a win. We're
- 39:49gonna see a few of those for sure this season. But if they pull
- 39:52out a win, a win is a win. So yeah, yeah,
- 39:55yes, get to the fun part. Let's do it. Let's get to
- 40:00the fun part, right, everybody. We're gonna take a quick break here
- 40:04and we come back. So we're thrown down on the table our new top
- 40:07three list Top three best TV theme songs of all times. Stick around,
- 40:10we'll be right back, all right, Welcome back, folks. Now it's
- 40:15fun time. Let's get to what we are throwing down on the table.
- 40:20And now on the table, it is time to unveil the top three list
- 40:28the top three best TV theme songs of all times. And again I'm gonna
- 40:32state for the record here that this has probably been the most impossible list to
- 40:37compile, the most impossible list we've ever done here because of how awesome so
- 40:43many TV theme songs are out there that have been that have been generated.
- 40:47We've heard them for five six decades at this point. There are so many
- 40:52good TV theme songs, and I know we want to get into our honorable
- 40:55mentions first before we get to the top three list. Eric, So,
- 41:00buddy, I'm gonna let you start here. Let's get into our honorable mentions
- 41:05here, and we're gonna put We're gonna put some of these theme songs in
- 41:07the background too as we're talking about talking about them, because that's always fun.
- 41:12So Eric, you start off, Buddy, Can I just say it
- 41:15before I start, like, this is a great fun list just because it's
- 41:19like one of the last things any kind of generation can like vibe on.
- 41:23Yeah. Yeah, maybe not this gentleman. Maybe they do. I don't
- 41:25know, maybe they're there are shows now that have great theme songs, like
- 41:29the Kids like no immediately after the first few notes. Yeah, but for
- 41:32our generation raised on TV. I know. I was. My god,
- 41:36It's like I hear just the first two bars and I'm like, I remember
- 41:39that, Oh my god, like exactly, and what a sad existence?
- 41:44But yeah, it's it's and you know, you're in college buddies, I
- 41:47know, but like it's not a sad existence because it's music. At the
- 41:52end of the day. I'm sorry, I'm gonna sit here and defend it
- 41:53because, like, seriously, if you hear a guitar with a wah pedal
- 41:58going and you you're like, oh my gosh, I know what this song
- 42:00is just based on a few notes, it's the it's the hook of it.
- 42:05But at the end of the day, it's music. And you're absolutely
- 42:07right, because I'm looking at my list right here and they're all legit good
- 42:10songs. Yes, yes, so I yeah, you're right, you're right,
- 42:15yes, yes, yes, yes, okay, my first honorable mention.
- 42:20Yeah, and this one always, this one always hits me in my
- 42:23eerie horror film sci fi vain the X Files theme song, ooh good one
- 42:30great. I still love that show watched off the nineties, one of my
- 42:35favorites. And second that Do Do Do Doom. You're like, oh,
- 42:39Yes, there's gonna be fucking weird aliens, blood, It's just all kinds
- 42:43of creat But that song was so purpose which is a great portal into what
- 42:46that show is about. Yep, I don't know who wrote it, but
- 42:49it's such a perfect song for what that show was. That's one mention.
- 42:53Absolutely, let's talk about what TV theme songs actually do. It's an intro
- 42:58to what the TV show is essentially about. I mean, that's what it
- 43:02is. It's the TV theme song is there to make you feel a certain
- 43:07way before they get into the actual stories, before they start getting into the
- 43:10characters, the storylines that are are developing throughout the throughout the half hour or
- 43:15hour or or an hour and a half that this show is on, that
- 43:21the show is providing us, that gives us that initial feeling. That's that's
- 43:24the perfect way to put it. And I would say it crosses over into
- 43:29music too. Like I've always told Len Lends, my Lends, my guy,
- 43:32that we like vibe on music together. The most I've always said,
- 43:37if I had to introduce Motown to somebody, I would always play in the
- 43:39four tops baby I neede eleven. I think that's if I'd pick one song
- 43:44to like. If I had to describe the Dead Kennedy's I'd play a California
- 43:47Morales would be like the song, right yep, but like that's that's what
- 43:52these do. Like I hear the X File song, I know some eerie,
- 43:53weird shit is gonna happen. Yes, I love it. I love
- 43:57that for me, And I'm gonna go back to what I just said.
- 44:00It starts with a guitar that has a wah pedal going, and it is
- 44:05Three's Company. You know, you know it because it's whacky. It sounds
- 44:13a little wacky right off the bat, and you know, soon enough you're
- 44:16gonna see Jack Tripper, you know, doing some trip tripping all over over
- 44:22his apartment trying to uh, you know, trying trying to get laid with
- 44:27the some of the hot ladies out there. That song encapsulates that swing in
- 44:32seventies and trying to get laid. Yes, in California vibe. It's a
- 44:37perfect description that it's almost like porn music. Yes it is God. So
- 44:43yeah, Three's Company is there for me. In terms of an honorable mention,
- 44:46what's your next honorable mention? Good Times is a phenomenal phenomenal song it
- 44:53is. I was thinking about putting it on Honorable Mention. I didn't,
- 44:55but that's a good one. And again that song it fills out what the
- 45:00entire show's about. And then when it ends on the painting of kind of
- 45:06the family and like the party thing going on that it's kind of a famous
- 45:12painting. From what I heard, I think Eddie Murphy actually owns that.
- 45:15He bought it, like a couple of million dollars did he okays in his
- 45:17house. It's pretty amazing. But it's another song. It's like, oh,
- 45:22I know exactly what the show's about. It's people trying to like good
- 45:25times, but they live in the projects and they're doing the best they can,
- 45:29and it lays it all out and the vocals are phenomenal, Like it's
- 45:32just a great R and B song from the seventies. That's my other I
- 45:36don't know mention. I love it again. I was gonna put it on
- 45:37my Honorable Mention list. I didn't because I decided to put this next one
- 45:42on. I decided to put on it. And it's a nostalgic song for
- 45:45me to hear an opening theme song because my dad used to watch this show
- 45:51all the time, and it was bizarre because the song encapsulates a somber mode,
- 45:59a somber move I should say, a somber mood, and then gets
- 46:02into the funnies. And that is Mash. That opening theme song. It's
- 46:10very so. I think it's called something like you know something about suicide.
- 46:15I should actually look it up here, But there's a somberness to the Mash
- 46:21song, but then at the last few bars get into this mood of Okay,
- 46:28you're gonna start hearing some wacky stuff, you know, bomp. It's
- 46:34like, okay, I guess we're gonna bomb get into some wacky stuff here.
- 46:37I love the Mash theme song. That was back when you had like
- 46:40orchestras actually doing theme music, and uh, just just what a catch the
- 46:46catch in the hook of an instrumental theme song like that. I think it's
- 46:51I think it's fantastic. Yeah, And it really is a good symbol of
- 46:54that show, because you had your episodes that were just you know, I
- 47:00don't I don't remember the character's name, but they walk around drinking fucking Martini's
- 47:05the war. But then but then they had those dead serious episodes where they're
- 47:07like dead children and stuff, and I was like, whoa, Okay,
- 47:10I guess we took a turn this episode, Like, yeah, it kind
- 47:15of matched the beginning of that song and then the goofy stuff at the end.
- 47:17That's a good one. I didn't really watch the show. I wasn't
- 47:20big on that show, but my parents did. My got You're right if
- 47:23I heard I guess at the first two bars of it. I know I
- 47:25immediately with that show is and me being bored to death. But yeah,
- 47:30all right, what's your last honorable mention? One? Okay? I think
- 47:35this is a phenomenal song. I know it's kind of kind of a joke
- 47:37and it's kind of become a joke and popular society. But the Golden Girls
- 47:43theme song, ah, so good. I think it's incredible. I think
- 47:45it's a great it's a it's a legit like thank you for being a friend.
- 47:50I love you. We've been through a lot of stuff together, and
- 47:53thank god you're here. It's like, that's a really nice for four old
- 47:58ladies slowly done eying in a Florida house, Like that's a really nice that's
- 48:02really nice sentiment. And my god, I remember Friday Nights. I wound
- 48:07up. No, I think it was Saturday. I wound up at my
- 48:09nana's house and reading Pennsylvania quite a bit, and that was our That was
- 48:14our night. We would sit there and watch those the two two seven,
- 48:17Empty Nest and you know, and Golden Golden Girls was her her show.
- 48:22And I remember when I was younger, I didn't quite understand it. But
- 48:23as you get older, like I, you know, that was a Sunday
- 48:28hangover TV show for me. Thank yeah, Hours on you and I've later
- 48:31around watching it and and why get older, like this show's god damn funny
- 48:37number one. But they're hilarious and it's actually just a really good show.
- 48:40And that song was kind of perfect for it, even though it was corny.
- 48:44When you're a kid you grew up, you're like, no, that's
- 48:45a really nice song. Actually it actually is. Again, it's a song
- 48:50that sets the mood and the tone for you with what you are about to
- 48:54watch. I mean that all these songs that we have talked about thus are
- 49:00and the ones we are going to talk about and name, they all set
- 49:04the mood for what you're going to see. It's like it's just like all
- 49:07right, gets you ready. It's like I'm ready here. I'm ready to
- 49:10watch what they have in store for me this week, you know. And
- 49:13that's why my next honorable mention one before we actually get to our list is
- 49:17the Simpsons. Like, I don't think there's anybody in the world who has
- 49:22seen popular pop culture or understands pop culture, you know, maybe aside from
- 49:29you know, North Korea. Folks. You know, you hear the Simpsons
- 49:32theme song and you know what's going to be coming. You just know what's
- 49:37going to be happening, and that you may have that on your list.
- 49:39And if you do, that's all right, because I do know how much
- 49:43of a fan you are of that particular series. But Simpsons for me gets
- 49:49honorable mentioned. It's on my list, and I'll expand on your point later.
- 49:52Okay, sounds good. Sounds good. Let's get to the top three
- 49:55list, folks, Eric, go ahead, what's number three for you?
- 49:59Buddy? Number three is just it's such I would I would I have it
- 50:04on my phone, man, I listened to it in the car. If
- 50:06it comes on, Like the Monster's theme song is so one a great song.
- 50:12It's that it's that classic late sixties, uh garage punk kind of kind
- 50:19of kind of music. Yeah, the show. The show's kind of punk
- 50:24itself. It's the Adams Family would have kind of a god thing going on.
- 50:29Yeah, the Munsters was just straight up funny and it was weird as
- 50:31hell, and it kind of matched that the Nugget you know, the records
- 50:35that came out and the Nuggets series that just have it just had a slew
- 50:38of garage punk bands and garage like surf like surf bands and stuff. And
- 50:43that that Monsters song was perfect for the generation. The song shouldn't have worked
- 50:46with what the show was, but it somehow worked perfectly. It matched the
- 50:51car, the Herman Monster's car. The show was way wackier than the Adams
- 50:58Family, the one it was always compared to. And that song itself is
- 51:00just like I said, it shouldn't have worked for that show, but it
- 51:04actually worked perfectly, kind of going along with what that the show kind of
- 51:07had a punk vibe and between the car and the family and that they had
- 51:12a fucking dragon and the steps, that song was perfect for it. And
- 51:16the song is fucking rocks. It's really really cool. It does. It
- 51:20comes down to the means I love I love this. I didn't even think
- 51:22of it. To be honest with you, man, I would have put
- 51:23I might have put that on my honorable mention maybe, But man, it
- 51:28comes down to the means the musicianship of the actual song itself, because like
- 51:32you're talking about those punk elements, it's that accent on the downbeat and continuously
- 51:38throughout the song. That's what makes it so in your face. And that's
- 51:44what the monsters were. It was like an in your face theme, a
- 51:49show theme, you know, and it's oh man and the oh man.
- 51:52Now I gotta hear this, I gotta hear it again. Once you listen
- 51:55to you're gonna be like, oh my god, I have to have that
- 51:58on my phone. I have to have it like the Car with Me.
- 52:00Yeah. It's such a fun song. Absolutely so musical too. It's just
- 52:04like a good piece of music. Like I said earlier, all these songs,
- 52:07all these songs, great pieces of music. And that's why my number
- 52:12three. And it may seem hokey to say this, but I remember my
- 52:16dad watching this show too, and this might have actually been where I first
- 52:21started to understand humor. That don't tell our buddy Dave that, okay,
- 52:25because I know I'm the unfunny one in the group. Okay, but I
- 52:30may have really this is I may have started to understand what humor was when
- 52:34I watched Cheers with my dad and the Cheers theme song is my number three,
- 52:40and just, oh man, what a fast, what a fantastic song.
- 52:45In general, there's because like it's not it's just you just felt like
- 52:51you were at home with them, you know what I mean, you just
- 52:53kind of felt like you were at home. And I don't know, do
- 52:58you have this on your list at all? I'm just wondering. No,
- 53:01But okay, I mean I remember it, and it it actually makes the
- 53:07low key alcoholism in that show. It seemed kind of like like kind of
- 53:10fun right, like, uh, we're just neighborhood, We're just a bunch
- 53:14of neighborhood guys hanging out every day, drinking day exactly. I almost feel
- 53:20like if that show decided to like down the downturn the comedy and a different
- 53:24theme song, it could have been a completely different show, like a drama,
- 53:29right, like just the pathetic lives of these dudes. But because they
- 53:31were so funny, this show was funny. I feel like that song actually
- 53:35helped the show and keep that comedic vibe, whereas that show could get really
- 53:39dark. It's like, hey, Norm, whant you go home to your
- 53:42wife? Dude? I mean talk about that climb. You say you love
- 53:45her, You're never You're never with her. The song is where everybody Knows
- 53:50your name. And again with me watching this with my dad then watching like
- 53:53reruns in subsequent years, it gave you the sense of you know, it's
- 53:59it's kind of like a whole them away from home. And that's how I
- 54:00always viewed that particular song as it related to the show itself, so and
- 54:06again kind of where I started picking up on humor I think as a low
- 54:08one. Yeah, And I will say the biggest, the biggest downfall of
- 54:14that is if you actually go and visit the Cheers Bar in Boston. Oh,
- 54:16it's awful. It's awful. It's a horrible bar. It's so packed
- 54:21tight. Yep, it's always filled with rubes trying to like the Cheers Bar,
- 54:25and it's just a crappy bar and there's no room in there. Like
- 54:29I was there with my daughter and I'm like, she's like, I was
- 54:31like, I have to go check this out. I had explained to what
- 54:34Cheers was. Yeah, and we went downstairs. It was loud to sell.
- 54:36We couldn't get a table, a seat. We were left immediately.
- 54:38She's like, was that a good show? Like that? That seemed terrible.
- 54:42I'm like, I'll explain it later. I can't. Okay, Yeah,
- 54:46nice? All right? Well what is your number two? As we're
- 54:51moving along here with our top three list best TV theme songs of all time?
- 54:55Which what's number two for you? Number two is the Simpsons theme song?
- 55:00Yeah, and the reason I two reasons I really love it. One.
- 55:04So Matt Graaning, like we talked about some shows now that they they
- 55:09have their own world, but it's based on reality, like The X Files,
- 55:14FBIA and Agents right right, Matt Graining had to create an entire world
- 55:20to itself, well just for the show, and it's it's such a grand
- 55:24thing to do. We have so many characters on that show and so many
- 55:28plotlines, and you had to have a theme song that was so huge and
- 55:32be like, I'm pulling you into this world that I created it myself has
- 55:37no basis in reality, really, and I know it's a cartoon, but
- 55:40like you know, you know the character so well it almost becomes like almost
- 55:44like real life. Right, But you needed that, like and you talked
- 55:47about the orchestra back when they you know, back in the orchestras basically did
- 55:52theme songs. You know, that's what he did. He won Old School.
- 55:55I know it came out like nineteen eighty nine, I think nineteen ninety.
- 55:59Yeah, he won school and just pulled. Danny Elfman did it.
- 56:01And I'll talk about him in a second, but he got this whole orchestra
- 56:05together and you needed to have that to set the table for a show that
- 56:09was going to be like, you're gonna meet this family, and there's eighty
- 56:13other families and eighty other people you're gonna have to get to know. I
- 56:15think had I think that song really set the table. And the song itself
- 56:20is just it's so beautiful and it's just it's it's so dramatic and it's chaotic
- 56:25too. It's chaotic as hell. And Daniel is a fucking lunatic. If
- 56:29you ever read about him, and I employ you to go on YouTube and
- 56:34go see Danny Elfman. I think it was last year maybe Cochella. He
- 56:37did a show. He does shows here and there, and from one understand
- 56:40they are absolutely incredibly He does all the theme songs that he's ever written.
- 56:44Them he's responsible for if you go back, and it's incredible way he's done
- 56:47like Edwards Scissorhands and all these different movies. He was basically Tim Burton's guy
- 56:52for ages, but this one is probably his biggest, biggest accomplishment. And
- 56:59he does it on stae with like forty people playing all kinds of different instruments.
- 57:04He's running around playing guitar, he grabs a trompone. He's an absolute
- 57:07lunatic on stage. And to see this this version live, just go on
- 57:13YouTube and look for like I think it was Coachella last year. You'll be
- 57:16like, holy hell, this might be the greatest song ever written. Yeah,
- 57:21like greater than any like or like like any like symphony back in the
- 57:24day. Yeah, but it's it's it would be number one, but the
- 57:29number one has like kind of a sentimental value to me, and it is
- 57:31just so damn good. But I just love the theme and the show too,
- 57:37Like my son loves it. He's seen every episode. It's an incredible
- 57:40show that still holds up. And that song and that intro like probably pulled
- 57:45him in. That's probably what got his attention. You know. Yeah,
- 57:49it again like orchestral chaos. It was chaos because inevitably that's what even the
- 57:54great storylines and storylines that lasted for years and years that were still relevant,
- 58:01they were all set in stone by this theme song. You know, this
- 58:07chaotic theme song, chaotic families, a chaotic community, and it was just
- 58:13it was perfect. It was one of the most perfect theme songs that had
- 58:16ever been created. And I mean my number two and I don't even know
- 58:22if you've seen this show, but it is a current show. It's the
- 58:25one that I said earlier that it's a current show because it is an amazing
- 58:31It's a classical piano piece in a minor minor a key that is just in
- 58:39its chaotic as well. Again, classic piano piece, just a grim.
- 58:45It's grim, but it's like this murky hip hop beat that is going on,
- 58:50and it is for the HBO show succession. It is one of the
- 58:53most amazing pieces of music from a piano perspective, the arrangement and then the
- 58:59york hestoral aspect that comes in with this show, where it's just you're getting
- 59:06you know when you are listening to this piece of music that you are going
- 59:08to be watching a bunch of degenerates, a bunch of rich, just entitled,
- 59:16self grandizing, egotistical degenerates who are just looking at power and how they
- 59:24are going to position themselves within their family. And the theme song encapsulates all
- 59:32of that. It encapsulates brilliance and stupidity, because that's where you get the
- 59:38minor key that's going. I don't know if you've ever heard this song,
- 59:43Eric, but it is. It is one of the most incredible pieces of
- 59:46TV theme music that I've ever heard. It's not my number one. I've
- 59:51always said that if we did a list like this, that this Succession theme
- 59:54song would be my number one. I wasn't able to do it because my
- 59:59number one is just it's fantastic, at least for me. But have you
- 1:00:02ever heard of the Succession theme song? Have you ever heard it? I've
- 1:00:06heard it. I've never seen the show, Okay, it's one of It's
- 1:00:09one of those shows that everybody's like, you got to watch it. I
- 1:00:12just haven't done it. Now that it's done, I probably go back and
- 1:00:15watch it. But it I feel like it's it's in the same vein as
- 1:00:20the mad Men theme song. Yeah, yes, because there's a very eerie.
- 1:00:23There's an eeriness because of the you know, Don Draper, is that
- 1:00:27mysterious that the mysterious background of his That song really kind of kind of captures
- 1:00:32that too. But yeah, the song's amazing. It's one of the like,
- 1:00:37like, my wife has watched it a hundred times and I've listened to
- 1:00:39it from the other room, and I'm like, that is cool. Like
- 1:00:43that, I don't know what the show is really about. I know,
- 1:00:45the dude from what do you call it, Ferris Peeler's Day Off is on
- 1:00:51the show. Yes, yes, Macaulay Culkin's brother, isn't it. Yeah,
- 1:00:54camera is in it. Yeah, But I will go back and watch
- 1:00:59it. I promise it's a it's a great show. But that the theme
- 1:01:00song just sets the tone and it's believe it or not. It's actually one
- 1:01:05of those theme songs that I don't always hit the forward button. We talked
- 1:01:08about that, You talked about that earlier in terms of theme songs that we
- 1:01:12really don't know too too much these days because you can just hit that skip
- 1:01:16intro on Netflix or on HBO, you can do that. But I've actually
- 1:01:22sat there and listened to this because it's an incredible piece of music that gets
- 1:01:24you, get you ready for the episode. So, buddy, what's your
- 1:01:28number one? What is your number one TV theme song of all time?
- 1:01:32This has been my number one for ages. It's probably not the most popular.
- 1:01:37I've seen the lists that are out there, and this is one.
- 1:01:39This one's rarely on it, which I think is insane. I don't know
- 1:01:43why. The Barney Miller theme song of the show from the late seventies.
- 1:01:47Yes, it has personaliment sentimental value to me, okay, but you know,
- 1:01:55it opens with it. It opens with a shot of Manhattan, you
- 1:01:59know, goes into New York and it's so I love funk music, Like
- 1:02:04I really love funk music. It's one of the funkiest fucking songs I've never
- 1:02:07heard of my life. Yeah, yeah, So it just opens with this
- 1:02:09incredible bassline. It's so simple, but you know you're in New York City
- 1:02:14right away. The show's funny as hell, and it's it's a really peppy
- 1:02:17beat and there's just a lot of like there's incredible bass, there's incredible trumpet
- 1:02:23in the song, and it's just the image of us in my family and
- 1:02:29I in our old kitchen, our old house. Really tiny. We had
- 1:02:32this little crappy TV in the you know, like a like a like a
- 1:02:37thirteen inch I think, okay, our kitchen and I thought that was amazing.
- 1:02:40We had a TV in our kitchen the same here. Yeah, we
- 1:02:44were like, oh my gosh, we have a TV in here. I
- 1:02:45know, I had antenna on the we get like moving to get a better
- 1:02:50single and shit and the image of my father doing the trumpet part with both
- 1:02:54hands, Oh my god, I need to say that, the thumb in
- 1:02:59his mouth, and I mean it's just like just thinking that was the funniest
- 1:03:02thing in the world when I was a kid, but also like watching the
- 1:03:05show, like even then being a kill like this is hilarious and that show,
- 1:03:08that song just set the table perfectly for that show. And I just
- 1:03:13think it's one of the coolest songs ever written, and it was for a
- 1:03:16great show, and it just matches the New York City vibe. And I
- 1:03:20don't know, that's always been my favorite one. Love I love that one.
- 1:03:22I love that you talk about the New York City vibe. And that's
- 1:03:25a good segue into my number one, which is and look it was.
- 1:03:30It was probably a top three on a lot of different lists out there,
- 1:03:34but I always loved the show, but I always loved the theme song,
- 1:03:38and it's the Jeffersons. You know. The show was on for ten years,
- 1:03:43nineteen seventy five to nineteen eighty five. Moving On Up was co written
- 1:03:47by Jeff Barry and a Good Times co star Janet Duboi du boy I believe
- 1:03:53it is her name. And yeah, just just how the lyrics themselves,
- 1:03:59I mean, first off, one of the most soulful TV theme songs ever
- 1:04:03ever written. But just touching on whether you know George and Louise Jefferson,
- 1:04:10you know, working class couple in Queens in New York and now they're in
- 1:04:15this deluxe apartment in the sky of Manhattan, just how the Black experience was
- 1:04:23moving forward. You know, they were had the Black experience and they were
- 1:04:28It was really like one of the first TV shows where you can actually say
- 1:04:31that that the Black experience where they were thriving, achieving the quote American dream,
- 1:04:36you know, back then in the seventies and eighties, what the American
- 1:04:40dream was. And the song just set the stage for all of that perfectly,
- 1:04:45and it was just I think one of the most iconic theme songs and
- 1:04:49just one of my one of my favorites again from a soul perspective. My
- 1:04:55god, the woman singing that song has so much freaking soul. Seriously,
- 1:05:00it's it's it's my favorite, it's my favorite of all time. Well,
- 1:05:03and soul and funk music has so much life to it, so it makes
- 1:05:06sense that we would gravitate to those kinds of songs with the Barney Miller and
- 1:05:11Jeffersons And I saw pretty much every episode of that show. A huge fan
- 1:05:16of that show too. One thing I do miss from those those days,
- 1:05:23characters don't dance anymore, right and like we I mean rerun did the rerun
- 1:05:30dance? And What's happening? You know What's happening theme song, by the
- 1:05:32way, fantastic. I was gonna put it on my honorable mention too.
- 1:05:35It's probably one of my favorite, not just songs, but like intros.
- 1:05:39It's just the three of them going down the sidewalk with the basketball and like
- 1:05:43it perfect opening. But I forget I forget his name, but he falls
- 1:05:46off his skateboard and starts laughing at himself. Yeah, Dwayne, Dwayne,
- 1:05:50runah Dwayne. But I talked about the dance because the George Jefferson dance is
- 1:05:58like, was it he almost danced? I think he came up with a
- 1:06:02dance to that song. Yeah, if you ever played the song and watched
- 1:06:05the dance, I mean, it's it's the coolest fucking it's there's so much,
- 1:06:10so much confidence in that dance, like I'm the fucking man, Like
- 1:06:14he was such an incredible character and that song again, it's set the table
- 1:06:17for that show, and I think that dance that is actually like set to
- 1:06:20that song perfectly. Sherman Helmsley Man what an amazing, amazing actor and comedic
- 1:06:28actor and comedic personality. Really, I mean just the intro to not it
- 1:06:31wasn't like just the song that the clips that they used to when you talked
- 1:06:34about dancing. He was like dancing on the bed and Louise is like,
- 1:06:39like, what are you doing? I know? I love that, Like
- 1:06:43she's drying her hair under her hair dryer and he just like comes up and
- 1:06:45knocks on it while she's reading a magazine and scares her. And he's acting
- 1:06:49like, oh my gosh, what are you doing under here? You know,
- 1:06:53it's hilarious. The stage, Yeah, it's set the stage for hilarity.
- 1:06:58I mean it's almost it was like it was slapsticky, you know.
- 1:07:00It was just like hearkens back to the like like like the Keystone Cops kind
- 1:07:05of thing back in the thirties and forties. It was really it was a
- 1:07:09great show. And I in any like history of dance, that dance has
- 1:07:14to be in the timeline somewhere. Yeah, it does. It absolutely does.
- 1:07:17Man, what a great top three lists. I love it, man,
- 1:07:21I love it. We'll have to do this more often. We'll have

- 1:08:35really has, so let's enjoy this as much as we can. Seriously,
- 1:08:40this team could potentially be going five to zero and right at the top of
- 1:08:44the NFC, and of course the Philadelphia Phillies doing what they're doing. I
- 1:08:49cannot wait to watch this team over the next week here. So we're gonna
