- 0:00What's up men? Welcome back to the Sacred Men
- 0:01YouTube channel. This is Pastor Justin Dean and
- 0:05many of you know that I I've been married to my wife for over
- 0:0921 years. I've got 5 kids.
- 0:12I'm a pastor. I planted Sacred City Church and
- 0:15it's thriving. We're around 500 people.
- 0:18We've got more than one church, so we planted another church
- 0:22across the river. I also own a business.
- 0:24I just do a little bit of construction on the side.
- 0:27And my oldest child, my son, he's 18 years old and graduated
- 0:34last year. And we are working through, you
- 0:37know, kind of a plan for his life.
- 0:40Like, what does he want to do? What's God calling him to do?
- 0:44And how can his mother and father set him up for success in
- 0:50an economy and in a world that's much different than the one that
- 0:54I grew up in Now, my generation and the one before me had a
- 1:00clear path to kind of success, right?
- 1:02You went to high school, you went to college, you got the
- 1:06career, you got married, you bought a house, you worked hard
- 1:10for 30-40 years, and then you got a comfortable retirement,
- 1:14maybe even a pension, and you got a road off into the sunset.
- 1:17Well, that plan isn't working anymore.
- 1:21Things have changed. Our economy is different.
- 1:24We've had mass immigrate immigration and even illegal
- 1:29immigration taking a lot, taking huge sectors of the job.
- 1:33We've had inflation. We have obviously the price of
- 1:37homes. It's it's really priced a lot of
- 1:40guys out from being able to buy that first starter home.
- 1:43There's all kind of things that are that have changed in our
- 1:46society. And now on top of that, we have
- 1:49what many are calling the AI apocalypse that's coming, that
- 1:51AI is going to get rid of the middle class and AI is going to
- 1:54take away all of these jobs, you know, computer coding and all
- 1:58kind of these like middle manager jobs.
- 2:01And so Amanda and I, my wife and I, you know, we've had to
- 2:05rethink the plan for our son and working with him as well.
- 2:09We thought he was just going to go to college right away and
- 2:13take that traditional path. But I sat down and had a
- 2:15conversation with him and one of them was like, do you want to be
- 2:17a white collar worker or do you want to be a blue collar worker?
- 2:21And he said both. And I was like crap because
- 2:25that's basically what I am. And when I was in college, I
- 2:30went to college for for a couple years.
- 2:32At first I wrestled in college and I was going to take that
- 2:36traditional path. And I realized I'm racking up
- 2:38the student debt and I felt God calling me into ministry.
- 2:41And I knew a ministry job, I'm not going to pay off my student
- 2:46loans and be able to raise a family.
- 2:49So I dropped out after my sophomore year.
- 2:52Then I started construction company and started building,
- 2:55building homes, doing remodeling and I learned to trade.
- 2:59And at the same time I was pursuing basically like a like
- 3:03an internship at a church and I started working at the church
- 3:06and I started learning that. I started learning 2 trades,
- 3:10right, being a builder and I was learning how to be a pastor.
- 3:15And that kind of dual pathway served me well because the
- 3:19ministry doesn't really pay that much until you get really,
- 3:23you've got 10-15 years in the ministry and you've really built
- 3:26something. And So what I could do was I
- 3:30could make money building homes. I had this trade over here.
- 3:33And then I could do what I felt like what God was calling me to
- 3:35do. And that's his ministry over
- 3:37here. And as I planted Sacred City, I
- 3:40would have to do one or two, you know, medium sized projects a
- 3:43year in order to pay for my kids to go to a private school.
- 3:47In order to for us to go on vacation, I'd have to go out and
- 3:51remodel the kitchen or remodel the bathroom or do something
- 3:54like that. And it's served me really well.
- 3:58And I think this might be the best pathway for most people
- 4:03moving forward. I think we're going to have a
- 4:06resurgence in the trades. And so if you're a young man
- 4:09looking for something to do, man, you can make a lot of money
- 4:13in the trades and the trades are not going away.
- 4:15You know, electrician, HVAC, carpentry, you know, with inside
- 4:19of that framing, trim, carpentry, cabinet making,
- 4:22roofing. As you know, the border has
- 4:26gotten closed and we've deported over 2 million illegal
- 4:31immigrants and many I think another, another million more
- 4:34have self deported. Many of those people are working
- 4:37in the trades. And if you go to any job site in
- 4:40the Quad Cities here, and you know, a year or so ago it would
- 4:43have been all illegal immigrants, basically all the
- 4:47roofers, many of the, many of the framing contractors.
- 4:50And so now there's this gaping hole where you can step in and
- 4:53fill if you are willing to work like they do, right?
- 4:57And that's the deal. Like you get a, these illegal
- 5:02immigrants come over to your house to change to roof your
- 5:04house. And they're going to they're
- 5:06going to be there at 7:00 AM or before that.
- 5:08And they're going to work until that house is done that day or
- 5:12at the most the next day. They're willing to put in that
- 5:15kind of work. And if you're willing to put in
- 5:16that kind of work, you're going to be able to make a lot of
- 5:18money, man. You're the, the trades are wide
- 5:21open for people. And as I planted the church, I
- 5:24still went back and got my education and got my bachelor,
- 5:28finished my bachelor's and then got my master's in theology.
- 5:31So there's hybrid models that I think are going to work well for
- 5:34a lot of people. But I came across this YouTube
- 5:39clip from the Sean Ryan Show that is interviewing this guy
- 5:43named Rob Luna. I don't know much about him, but
- 5:45he's a prominent wealth and business strategist of over 25
- 5:48years. And he's in wealth management
- 5:50and he's Speaking of this AI apocalypse.
- 5:53And I think he's got some good advice for us because even in
- 5:56the trades, the trades aren't going to be replaced by AI, but
- 6:01they are going to be supplemented by AI.
- 6:05Maybe your sales, your sales process, your estimating
- 6:09process, maybe even ordering materials, things like that are
- 6:14going to be able to, you're going to be able to use AI and
- 6:16kind of cut out one or two employees and it's going to be
- 6:20able to, you know, increase your productivity.
- 6:24And then I'm just talking about the trades.
- 6:25There's going to be, you know, any man that knows how to be a
- 6:29leader and get the right group of people around him.
- 6:32I think he can succeed in this growing AI economy and he can
- 6:37make enough money to support a family, to buy a house, to give
- 6:40to his church, and to create a legacy for his, for his family
- 6:43and for his kids. So this year, we're really going
- 6:46to lean into this idea of being builders.
- 6:49Coming up next week, I'm going to have an interview on here and
- 6:53we're going to at least do one interview per month of guys who
- 6:56are building things. I want to highlight them from my
- 7:01circle, from our church to inspire you to do something
- 7:05similar or to learn some principles from them.
- 7:07Guys that have they've learned how to build a business, they
- 7:09learn how to build a family, They learn how to build
- 7:12something, make some money. And I so I hope it's inspiring
- 7:14to you. So let me just get into this
- 7:16reaction video today. All right, This is probably the
- 7:20biggest topic that we're going to talk about today.
- 7:23Artificial intelligence in the business world, in the job place
- 7:27would what is going to happen? I mean, we talk a lot about
- 7:31third class being or middle, excuse me, middle class being
- 7:34wiped out. AI is going to take a lot of
- 7:37jobs. AI is also going to be a force
- 7:40multiplier to type A players. I mean, what are we looking at?
- 7:46What are you seeing already? Yeah, well, that's the thing.
- 7:49It's not like what's going to happen.
- 7:50It's already happening, right? And it's not that AI is going to
- 7:54take most people's jobs. It's people that understand
- 7:58finance and strategy and scaling that are going to use AI to take
- 8:04the jobs for most people. So that's really what it is.
- 8:07It's not that this thing of AI, it's how are you utilizing AI or
- 8:11not utilizing AI and if you're not?
- 8:13OK, So what he's saying there is AI is not this thing that's
- 8:17coming after all of our jobs. It's going to be employers using
- 8:23AI to get rid of people that are replaceable, right?
- 8:28Middle managers, paper pushers, employees that show up just for
- 8:33a paycheck and you know, you always have to get on top of
- 8:37them. Are you doing this or have you
- 8:39filed that paperwork? Have you done that thing?
- 8:41You're always after them. Well, that's kind of brainless,
- 8:44mindless work that just like in the factories during
- 8:48industrialization, you, if you can replace that guy with a
- 8:51machine and you can get more out of it, you're as a business
- 8:55owner, you're going to do it. And we're talking about here the
- 8:59same thing, but with knowledge work.
- 9:01A lot of the times you can replace that number cruncher,
- 9:04that paper pusher with a machine with, with an algorithm or
- 9:08whatever, with with AI. And so you're going to have
- 9:10these guys that are wanting to maximize their effectiveness and
- 9:15they're going to get rid of guys that aren't there to work, that
- 9:17they're not people that add value to the organization.
- 9:20OK. Hi, it's how are you utilizing
- 9:24AI or not utilizing AI? And if you're not, you're going
- 9:26to be wiped out, right? It's kind of like the horse and
- 9:28buggy. You've got to upgrade, you've
- 9:30got to learn new skill sets and you've got to be able to do
- 9:32that. And the problem is, I think
- 9:34there's a lot of complacency that still doesn't believe in
- 9:37what's going to be happening with AI.
- 9:38And we've got this baber boomer generation where they don't even
- 9:40want to learn how to use a knife.
- 9:42Baber Boomer Baby boomers. Yes, the baby boomers.
- 9:48How to put AI into their world and the and the problem is with
- 9:52society today is you have to be more innovative, you have to be
- 9:55more entrepreneurial. You know, I have entrepreneurs
- 9:58or people ask me, everyone asked me whether they want to start
- 10:00their own business or not. What is the skill set I need to
- 10:03learn? You have to learn to be an
- 10:05entrepreneur. Why?
- 10:06Because every entrepreneur, including you that I know, wants
- 10:09to hire entrepreneurial people. People that can come in
- 10:12critically, think, take a division, run it themselves,
- 10:15understand it themselves, work their ass off, do the things
- 10:17that they need to do and do that.
- 10:19If you can do that using AI to leverage yourself to get the
- 10:23power of 10 people, you are going to be very, very
- 10:26successful. And So what everyone needs to
- 10:28Start learning is how can they create first of all a valuable
- 10:33skill set? OK, first one, how to create a
- 10:38valuable skill set. This is figuring out a trade.
- 10:45It really is. Whether your trade is just
- 10:47leadership, you're just good at moving people, You're good at
- 10:50motivating people and getting them to move in a certain
- 10:52direction. Whether this is carpentry or
- 10:56accounting or, you know, hauling stuff in your truck.
- 11:02I mean, what are you? What do you want to be good at?
- 11:05You know, the trades are almost unlimited.
- 11:09There's certain things that people always need done.
- 11:12They always need their haircut, right?
- 11:14They always need their windows clean.
- 11:16They always need their carpet shampoo.
- 11:18They always need junk hauled to the dump.
- 11:22They always need trees cut down and trees trim.
- 11:24They always need their grass mowed.
- 11:26They always need their sidewalks shoveled and their sidewalk and
- 11:29their and their driveways plowed.
- 11:31They always need an electrician to come in and fix that outlet.
- 11:34They always need their heater brakes.
- 11:36They need HVAC guy to come in and take care of that.
- 11:38They always need plumbers. They always need roofers.
- 11:41They always need there's, there's AI mean I could go on
- 11:45forever. And you don't have to pick
- 11:49something that like makes your heart sing, right?
- 11:52I'll tell you what makes my heart sing is seeing that
- 11:55paycheck hit my bank account. That's what makes my heart sing.
- 11:58So whether I'm, I don't care. I can whistle while I work and I
- 12:01could be cleaning somebody's toilet as long as I'm being paid
- 12:04for it and paid well for it. And if you want to be an
- 12:08entrepreneur, you've got to pick a trade, find your skill set
- 12:13that you're good at. If you're good at set sales, you
- 12:16know, just talking to people, being on video and you can be a
- 12:20salesman, right? Find your your skill set.
- 12:23And then you have to become a self motivated person.
- 12:26You have to become a disciplined person and you have to work your
- 12:29butt off. You have to outwork all of your
- 12:32competition, right? And he's like this, this type of
- 12:36people kind of has, they have always succeeded in life and
- 12:40they're continuing, they're going to continue to succeed in
- 12:43life and AI is actually going to make them more successful, more
- 12:48productive. A valuable skill set, how can
- 12:51they connect with people and how can they use AI to be able to
- 12:54multiply that? I use AI on a daily basis.
- 12:57My productivity personally versus what I obviously 1218
- 13:00months has gone up significantly, right?
- 13:03And so when you talk about this, just practically most of the
- 13:06time what I do is spend time with businesses like yours,
- 13:09everybody Sean is saying, OK, what do I need to do to for my
- 13:14business to be able to win, succeed, pivot today?
- 13:17How do I build a business? And really it comes down to a
- 13:19couple things. It's first of all, you need a
- 13:22small team of All Stars, right? And I'm talking about billion
- 13:25dollar businesses. When I say small team, to put
- 13:27that in perspective, like 8 to 10 people to find 8 to 10 really
- 13:31good people right now, no matter if you're Apple or if you're
- 13:35Sean Ryan, it's very, very difficult to find those people.
- 13:38So you got to find those people and put them in a position to
- 13:41succeed. OK, so here's what he's talking
- 13:43about. When you're starting a business,
- 13:45it can be just you, right? If it's if you're just in the
- 13:48trades, if, if, if it's, you know, it could be you and a
- 13:50laborer, or it could be you and your best friend or you and
- 13:54three other guys that you know that you know they're all going
- 13:56to be putting in and getting after it.
- 13:59But people is what matters, right?
- 14:01People is your that's your success.
- 14:03Your success is in what kind of people can you get around me?
- 14:07And this is in all the trades. This has always been the hardest
- 14:11part of growing a business and leading a successful business is
- 14:16that the barrier of entry is low in the trades.
- 14:20You don't need a college degree. You don't need a high school
- 14:21degree. All you need to do is be able to
- 14:24do the job. Many contractors, what they want
- 14:26to do is they want to hire this crackhead off the street and
- 14:29they can pay him $8 an hour and he can do it for him.
- 14:31Well, you can do that and you're going to get, you know, you're
- 14:34going to get pissed, poor work out of a guy like that.
- 14:36And tomorrow he might not show up because he's high or he's
- 14:39drunk or he's doing something else.
- 14:40So the first thing you need to think about is who do I want to
- 14:43surround myself with? Who do I want to bring into this
- 14:45business? So get a team of what he says, a
- 14:48team of All Stars around you, and then set the goal and let
- 14:53them run, right? That's our strategy at Sacred
- 14:55City. I say we want to.
- 14:57We want to go with our goers. We want to run with our runners.
- 15:00I want to get the best people around me and then say here's
- 15:03what I want. This is your department, take it
- 15:05and make it better and run with it.
- 15:07I want them to think like entrepreneurs.
- 15:11Put them in a position to succeed.
- 15:13Then you need All Star processes that they're following that
- 15:16they're scalable. OK, second one, processes.
- 15:21Processes or systems. Systems are what you you build
- 15:27in your organization. So think of it, how do I get new
- 15:30clients, right? You need to create a system.
- 15:32Maybe it's marketing on Facebook, maybe it's marketing
- 15:34on Instagram. Maybe it's putting an ad out in
- 15:37the newspaper. I don't know if they do that
- 15:39indoor. Maybe it's going door to door.
- 15:41Maybe it's meeting a bunch of people at church and passing out
- 15:44your business card. Maybe it's just word of mouth.
- 15:46But you create a system to get new clients.
- 15:48Then you create a system to estimate, right?
- 15:51You can't be working on a project and going around and
- 15:55giving estimates at the same time.
- 15:57So what's your system for doing that?
- 15:59Maybe you can implement AI to help you get clients.
- 16:03Maybe you can implement AI to help you estimate your job so
- 16:07you can spend more time hands on right.
- 16:10So he says surround yourself with the the best people you can
- 16:12get and then build Rockstar processes or systems to help
- 16:19keep getting those clients to providing your service to those
- 16:22clients, estimating, billing, all these types of things.
- 16:27Scalable and then you need All Star technology to be able to
- 16:30develop and scale all that and So what people are doing today
- 16:34is building flat organizations with really high quality people,
- 16:38high quality processes and high quality technology.
- 16:41And so the middle management is getting cut out.
- 16:44The average 9 to fiver is getting cut out.
- 16:46Somebody who just shows up and dots the I and cross the T is
- 16:49getting cut out and those people are becoming unemployed and
- 16:52businesses are becoming better. They're faster, they're leaner,
- 16:56they're more profitable. And at the end of the day, as a
- 16:58capitalist, when I invest in a business, this isn't a
- 17:01socialistic endeavor. It's I want to invest in
- 17:03businesses that are good. They're solving a problem
- 17:06faster, better, cheaper, and they're doing it more
- 17:08efficiently. And that flows to the bottom
- 17:10line. And that's exactly what AI is
- 17:12doing. And so you figure out like,
- 17:13well, how is that killing the middle class?
- 17:15Well, the middle class is not ready to adapt to that.
- 17:18And the biggest problem I have with that and why I worry about
- 17:21this country and all the debt is, you know, when you think
- 17:24about pensions, for example, you know what my grandfather had,
- 17:28maybe our parents had working for General Electric or all
- 17:31these companies, Boeing pensions are gone.
- 17:34There's no more pensions anymore.
- 17:36So when you retire, if you didn't put money away for
- 17:39yourself, if you don't have a skill set to maybe have to work
- 17:42longer because with AI, people are actually living longer now,
- 17:45people are going to be in a lot of trouble.
- 17:48And so the debt that we have, the savings that people don't
- 17:51have, the lack of financial literacy and if people are not
- 17:54understanding that AI is here, it's not going to happen.
- 17:57It's happening. I'm consulting my firm's
- 17:59consulting every single day. And one of the first things we
- 18:03look at is what are you guys doing who are doing that?
- 18:06Who's doing that? And we're getting rid of people,
- 18:09right? That's, I mean, just being
- 18:10honest, John, we're getting rid of people that don't serve a
- 18:13purpose anymore. And the people that serve a
- 18:15purpose have high specialization.
- 18:17They understand that it's not going to be a nine to five
- 18:19anymore. They have to be critical
- 18:20thinkers. They have to pivot and adapt.
- 18:22They have to use technology to leverage what they're doing.
- 18:25They have to demand more. They have to have that
- 18:26entrepreneurial mindset to understand and know that this
- 18:30person is hiring me because they want to make more money.
- 18:33How do I become more efficient, more specialized, and become an
- 18:36asset, not a liability to the company?
- 18:38If you're a liability, AI is going to wipe you out.
- 18:40Dang, OK, I think he's right. It makes a lot of sense, the
- 18:47books that I'm reading and the I think he's right.
- 18:50And so I want to prepare young men especially for what's
- 18:54coming. And again, there's certain
- 18:57trades that AI is not going to. It's not that they're not going
- 19:00to, it's not going to touch, but it's not going to wipe them out,
- 19:04right? If you have that skill set that
- 19:07a computer can't do a crack, you know, you use your hand, you use
- 19:11your critical thinking skills, and you have a trade, AI is not
- 19:16going to wipe that, wipe that job out.
- 19:18And so I think maybe this dual pathway into entrepreneurship
- 19:23where you, you're going to have to start out if you don't have,
- 19:26if you don't know a trade, one I you could just buy, you know,
- 19:30buy a pickup truck, buy a trailer, boom, right there you
- 19:33can start hauling stuff. You, there's all kind of you can
- 19:36start making money right now. But if, if you don't have the
- 19:40skill set, then you're going to have to learn the skill set.
- 19:42And the easiest way to learn a skill set is go work for 1520
- 19:47bucks an hour on a job site. And you're going to have to
- 19:50spend a couple years learning how to be an electrician,
- 19:55learning how to be a framer, learning how to be do these
- 19:57things. But you're there, you're
- 19:59thinking of this as college, right?
- 20:01I'm not just there to, to bring a paycheck home.
- 20:04I'm here to learn the trade. And I'm going to take that guy's
- 20:07job or I know I'm going to be here 3-4 years or how however
- 20:11long it takes me to learn it. But as soon as I learn it, I'm
- 20:13going to take the journeyman test.
- 20:15I'm going to take the contractors test.
- 20:17I'm going to go pass that test as fast as I can and I'm going
- 20:20to start my own business. Right.
- 20:22And then you're going to lean into it, you're going to get the
- 20:25the best people around you that you possibly can.
- 20:27And you're going to employ AI to do things that we, you know,
- 20:31that really sucked 20 years ago, All the estimating, all the
- 20:35measuring. I know my buddy who started a
- 20:37roofing company here in the Quad Cities.
- 20:40He uses AI for all that he uses. He doesn't even go to homes to
- 20:44measure roofs. He gets satellite images of the
- 20:47roof. He's got a program and it just
- 20:48takes a picture of your roof and it does the whole estimate and
- 20:51he puts it on his letterhead, emails it over, That's it.
- 20:54It takes him like 2 minutes to do an estimate.
- 20:58That's the kind of technology that's going to be that's
- 21:00available. And it's going to be even more
- 21:02so in the future for tradesmen that you could implement to
- 21:07multiply your effectiveness. So man, I hope this encourage
- 21:14you. If you got any questions, you
- 21:15can throw it down in the comments below.
- 21:17Guys like share this video as much as possible.
- 21:21Really wanting to increase the people that we can help.
- 21:26I'm just a normal dude who has built the church and has built
- 21:30some businesses and built a family.
- 21:32And I want to see my son succeed in this coming generation.
- 21:36And I want to see these Generation Z men.
- 21:39I want to see them step up and succeed.
- 21:42I don't want them to get so discouraged and take the black
- 21:44pill and just sit at home and play video games because the
- 21:47whole system is rigged against them.
- 21:49It's true. The system is rigged against
- 21:51you. And baby boomers have screwed a
- 21:53bunch of stuff up and it's not a great economy.
- 21:55And there's a lot of lot of things that are difficult, more
- 21:57difficult than when I was coming up, I think.
- 22:00But if you know how to adapt, if you know how to think
- 22:03critically, if you know how to get the right people in the
- 22:04room, if you've got a skill that's marketable or you're
- 22:07going to lean in and learn a skill that's marketable, you can
- 22:09still make a lot of money. You can still find the girl.
- 22:13You can still get married, have kids, buy the house, serve a
- 22:16church, put down roots and make an impact and create a lasting
- 22:21legacy for generations to come. So that's what I hope for you
- 22:24guys. Hopefully this video was a
- 22:26blessing. You can watch the whole the
- 22:29whole video on the Sean Ryan show on YouTube and Rob Luna was
- 22:33the guy he was interviewing. So thanks for watching guys.
- 22:36I will talk to you next week.
