- 0:00[MUSIC PLAYING]
- 0:02Well, hello there, weary traveler.
- 0:12Normally, this would be the moment
- 0:14when I'd ask you what magic brought you here,
- 0:16and then immediately ignore whatever answer
- 0:19you were about to give in favor of telling you
- 0:21about the criminals of Isla Nunes, a group of adventurers
- 0:24that I deviously trapped in a world of my creation
- 0:28and tasked with accumulating a million gold pieces
- 0:31if they ever wanted to see the material plane again.
- 0:34All for my, and I suppose your, entertainment.
- 0:39Well, today is a bit different.
- 0:41Today, we're going to forego all of that introduction
- 0:44nonsense to take a casual stroll down memory lane
- 0:48and recall all that the aforementioned criminals have
- 0:51been up to before we dive any deeper into their plight.
- 0:55So whether you're an avid listener to our tale
- 0:58or you're jumping into the adventure from here,
- 1:01this will be a great opportunity for all of us
- 1:03to be reminded of where we've been and how we got
- 1:06to where we are now.
- 1:08So sit back and enjoy as I regale you
- 1:10with the hilarious tale of a bunch of idiots trying
- 1:13desperately to make some money.
- 1:15[MUSIC PLAYING]
- 1:23Our story started in a boat floating down the streams
- 1:27of the underdark back on the material plane.
- 1:31I, and the soon to be criminals, just broke free of a drow
- 1:35prison camp and managed to snag a ship
- 1:37that we were piloting through the blackened waters.
- 1:41One of these criminals, a fellow named Rorik,
- 1:45was tossing some rocks out into the water.
- 1:47And I, a connoisseur of the art of stakes and speculations,
- 1:52offered him a wager, hit a particular stalactite hanging
- 1:56off in the shadow distance, and I would give him a prize.
- 1:59Miss, and he'd receive a punishment.
- 2:03A simple wager for sure, but one that
- 2:05would change the course of his and his friend's lives
- 2:09in a pretty significant way.
- 2:11For some reason, this dwarvish meathead
- 2:14decided that he was done skipping rocks altogether
- 2:17and decided to skip me instead.
- 2:20I found my mortal form lifted high and hurled
- 2:23into the brackish water where I was
- 2:25swarmed by a mass of strange, mantle-like creatures,
- 2:29the name of which is pretty much impossible to pronounce.
- 2:32Unbeknownst to these monsters and that bastard back
- 2:35on the boat who threw me out, I am actually a deity.
- 2:41Some would call me a lesser god, a title I'm not particularly
- 2:45fond of.
- 2:46But I will admit, my strength and powers
- 2:48are no match for many that call the divine play
- 2:51in their home.
- 2:52I am the god of gambling.
- 2:55Judge him be my name.
- 2:57And maybe I'm not the strongest of the gods,
- 3:00but gosh darn it if I don't throw one hell of a casino
- 3:04knight.
- 3:05And the other gods love it.
- 3:07Well, until they lose and have to pay the house, which,
- 3:10of course, is me.
- 3:12Massive numbers of souls, but anyways,
- 3:15that's a bit outside of our story here.
- 3:18So as I pulled my way out of the waters
- 3:21and climbed back aboard into the boat,
- 3:24I decided it was time to show this roric and the company he
- 3:27keeps a bit of a lesson.
- 3:30I've had this little pocket world, a pet project of mine.
- 3:33I started a few hundred years ago.
- 3:35I call it island numus.
- 3:37It was originally meant to be sort of a prison.
- 3:42But I've allowed it to continue running as an entire society
- 3:45in my pocket.
- 3:47Well, I figured maybe it was time to add a couple new souls
- 3:52to this world of mine.
- 3:55Interestingly enough, powerful as we gods are,
- 3:58we do still have rules and terms that we must follow.
- 4:01If I make a deal, even with a mortal,
- 4:04I have to keep it, and vice versa.
- 4:07Well, as far as the terms of our little wager,
- 4:10Roric didn't hit that stalactite, even with me as the ammo.
- 4:15So he had lost, and his punishment
- 4:17was about to be dealt.
- 4:18Unfortunately, it meant catching up his friends
- 4:21inside of this punishment web as well.
- 4:26I pulled myself, soaked in dripping back onto the boat,
- 4:28and headed straight for his room, where he and his comrades
- 4:32slept peacefully.
- 4:33With a snap of my fingers, they disappeared.
- 4:37And when they awoke, they'd find themselves
- 4:39in a much different place than where they laid their heads.
- 4:42Not to mention their heads would be quite different as well.
- 4:46[LAUGHS]
- 4:48[MUSIC PLAYING]
- 4:55For a moment, you think you're in a dream,
- 4:57but you reach down to pinch yourself,
- 4:59and you're surprised by two things.
- 5:01Firstly, you're not in a dream.
- 5:02That surprises you.
- 5:03And again, you jump back to the confusion of, where the heck am
- 5:06I, and how did I get here?
- 5:08But you're also surprised when you look down,
- 5:09and you realize that you were not in the same body
- 5:12that you were in before.
- 5:14You are no longer a dwarf, or an elf, or a triton,
- 5:20or-- what was Maki?
- 5:21The human.
- 5:22Human.
- 5:22OK, I was like, I think he was human.
- 5:24Or a human.
- 5:25You are a series of kinkus, of kobalts, of goblins.
- 5:32You look around, you see that you are also
- 5:34sitting next to other kinkus in kobalts and goblins,
- 5:38specifically four others, since there's five of you.
- 5:42I mean, I'm not trying to spoil that little bit there,
- 5:44but there's five of you total, and there's five of you
- 5:47sitting around this tree.
- 5:49And you're a little confused.
- 5:51And you're confused for about a moment before a boy speaks out
- 5:53to you, and he says, well, it looks like you finally awakened.
- 5:57So that's the story about how their life got flipped and upside
- 6:04down, and shape shifted into an entirely new species.
- 6:09Yep, I gave them all some brand new bodies
- 6:12and tasked them with accumulating one million gold
- 6:16pieces within my world of island humus,
- 6:20if they ever wanted to leave.
- 6:23Needless to say, they weren't too happy about it,
- 6:25but a deal is a deal.
- 6:27Now, don't think I would throw them
- 6:28into this new world with a quest too great for themselves
- 6:32and then abandon them.
- 6:34Who do you think I am, the god of abandonment?
- 6:37Certainly not.
- 6:39I gave them an incredibly powerful magic item
- 6:42that would allow them to communicate with me.
- 6:45Also, I'm going to gift you one, guys, with something.
- 6:48And as you sit there, a strange stone
- 6:51was sort of etched out lines, and it floats down
- 6:55on like a beam of light before you land in the soft dirt.
- 6:59He says, this right there, this is a divine talky walky.
- 7:06And it allows you to communicate with me once per day.
- 7:12I'm not always going to be-- I'll be watching all the time,
- 7:15but I'm not going to talk to you and give you
- 7:17all the answers, of course.
- 7:18So you can communicate with me, ask me a yes or no question
- 7:23once per day, and I will give you an honest yes or no answer
- 7:27as best as I can.
- 7:28Now, if I don't know the answer, then I can only do so much.
- 7:33I will try to work with you as best as I can,
- 7:36and we'll figure it out.
- 7:37But yeah, anyways, there you go.
- 7:41Use it wisely once per day.
- 7:44And they promptly ignored my help.
- 7:46Just out of curiosity, did anyone grab the talky walky?
- 7:52It's just sitting there on the--
- 7:55you know, to be fair, I didn't know how
- 7:57that mechanic was going to get you, so OK.
- 8:00It's just forgotten.
- 8:01It's just forgotten.
- 8:03Don't worry.
- 8:04They came back forth later.
- 8:06I assure you.
- 8:07I figured I'd throw them another bone
- 8:08and let them pick an individual that they wanted,
- 8:11from Ilanumus, to be their guide through this new world
- 8:15and even help them achieve their goal.
- 8:17In return, that individual would have the option
- 8:20to join them when they leave, becoming another soul
- 8:23on the material plane.
- 8:25Well, wouldn't you know it, these dummies basically
- 8:28picked the first guy they ran into.
- 8:30You do.
- 8:31You do, in fact, hear somebody shouting from a distance.
- 8:34Sauce!
- 8:35You eat sauce here.
- 8:36The sauce is sauce, company.
- 8:37Sauce?
- 8:38Sauce thing.
- 8:38Let's get saucy.
- 8:40Someone's shouting about their sauce.
- 8:42It's coming from inside the more worn-down district.
- 8:47Maki, when he hears the word sauce, thinks of--
- 8:51Oh, yes.
- 8:53He's off and on the sauce, and he will.
- 8:55And he reaches for his wine skin that's usually on his hip,
- 9:00realizing it's not there.
- 9:03He recalls what Roark said earlier
- 9:07and gives out a near perfect mimic of his--
- 9:11No!
- 9:12Uh-oh.
- 9:19He lost his axe, too.
- 9:23My sauce is gone.
- 9:24Oh, his sauce is gone.
- 9:27Shall I--
- 9:27He's got sauce.
- 9:29Come here.
- 9:29Get your sauce here.
- 9:30You see a small little sort of sales, almost like a booth,
- 9:35I guess, probably more than anything.
- 9:36It's not like a full-on store.
- 9:38It's just kind of a side booth, right?
- 9:42No, it's a nice little--
- 9:44not like a straight-up store, but maybe like a--
- 9:47A YouTube cart?
- 9:50Like a concession stand.
- 9:52OK, OK.
- 9:52So it's a nice little concession stand.
- 9:54What is-- do you have any signage on this concession stand?
- 9:56Oh, yeah.
- 9:57It says little sauce is sauce, company.
- 9:59Little sauce is sauce, company.
- 10:00That's what you see on the sign.
- 10:02What is it?
- 10:02Sauce code.
- 10:03Oh, sorry.
- 10:04It's sauce.
- 10:04Cut-E-Knot.
- 10:05Dot.
- 10:05It's a mountain.
- 10:06Exactly.
- 10:07You don't want too big a mouse for one.
- 10:08No, it's true.
- 10:09Well, you do have the sauce.
- 10:10Letters come out.
- 10:11I got the sauce.
- 10:12That's right.
- 10:13You got to say where--
- 10:13Taki hurriedly gets in line behind the person in front of him.
- 10:18Yes, it's a fairly hulking bugbear.
- 10:24He's kind of dressed in fairly drab clothes.
- 10:26Looks like he's probably been working.
- 10:28You can smell a pretty intense sweat smell off of his body,
- 10:32maybe a little bit of an old sweat smell.
- 10:34That's just a sauce.
- 10:36It might be.
- 10:37He's standing in front of you.
- 10:39You get up right behind him, and he kind of just
- 10:41looks behind him a little bit.
- 10:42He grunts, and then he turns back, and he steps forward.
- 10:47Whoever was in front of him leaves,
- 10:48opening up his ability to buy some sauce.
- 10:51He just, oh, take what sauce you got today, little sauce.
- 10:59Today's sauce is a nice mixture of the normal sauce
- 11:03that we always have.
- 11:04Oh, I'll take two jars of little sauces today's sauce.
- 11:13All right, two jars of today's little sauce of sauce
- 11:15coming right up.
- 11:16He drops a couple of coins down in front of you.
- 11:19Thank you.
- 11:20Thank you very much.
- 11:21He handed him a couple jars of sauce,
- 11:22and he heads off on his way.
- 11:24Maki steps up and says, I'll take two jars of your sauce.
- 11:31[LAUGHTER]
- 11:35Whoa, little hostile there, buddy.
- 11:37I don't recognize you from out here.
- 11:39Gah.
- 11:40Oh, yes.
- 11:42His name's Maki.
- 11:44OK, and you are?
- 11:45It's the other way.
- 11:46The whole group of you just kind of like follows him by.
- 11:51He-- Roryck sticks his hand up to shake his hand.
- 11:54He goes, my name's Roryck, Frostbeard.
- 11:58Frostbeard, you don't look like--
- 12:00That name doesn't really work anymore.
- 12:02Now does it.
- 12:03You see, I'm a dwarf.
- 12:05Oh, what?
- 12:06You don't look like a dwarf.
- 12:08Don't look too close.
- 12:10What's your name?
- 12:11And he sticks his hands to a way for the inch.
- 12:15I'll reach out.
- 12:16You know what I'm changing?
- 12:17OK.
- 12:17I'm feather-micking.
- 12:18All right, it's connect.
- 12:19You get static-shocked.
- 12:21Like, like--
- 12:21No!
- 12:22Not that.
- 12:23It's like static electricity.
- 12:24And Roryck pulls his hands away from me.
- 12:26What?
- 12:27Oh, sorry, sir.
- 12:28Like, a little static electricity.
- 12:30Yeah.
- 12:31And he's like wiping the side of his pants.
- 12:33He's like, oh, sorry.
- 12:34So be it.
- 12:35Anyways, my friend, that's Maki.
- 12:37He can't really speak well.
- 12:38He's, uh--
- 12:39One of me.
- 12:40Yeah, exactly.
- 12:41How do you talk so well?
- 12:42Oh, I've been around a lot of people in my day.
- 12:46I've seen a lot of things.
- 12:47You're using the same voice consistently
- 12:50than one person just talk all the time around you?
- 12:53You could say that.
- 12:54Who's my best friend?
- 12:56His name was--
- 12:57Nick Riddle.
- 12:58Nick me Nick.
- 13:00That's amazing.
- 13:01I like Nick Riddle.
- 13:02It's just all Nick Riddle.
- 13:04Nick Riddle and your Nick Craig are--
- 13:06Nick Festive.
- 13:08Nick Craig?
- 13:09Nick Riddle and Nick Craig are--
- 13:12That's the best of pals.
- 13:13That's the first Nick that came to the top of my--
- 13:18So you know who this store is named after?
- 13:20Yes.
- 13:20And I mimic my best friend who I lost to Fairchild.
- 13:26To the sauce?
- 13:28You can say he got lost in the sauce.
- 13:30Oh, I know someone else like that, right, Maki?
- 13:33And I go to, like, have Maki on the fat.
- 13:35And another shock of fatty electricity comes out.
- 13:38And he pulls his hands back and goes, ah, ah, sorry, Maki.
- 13:41Anyway, the name's Feather McGregor,
- 13:43but I go by little sauce.
- 13:45Oh, well, Maki likes the sauce, too.
- 13:47And he wants-- how many, Maki?
- 13:50Two sauce.
- 13:52He wants two sauce.
- 13:54All right, all right.
- 13:55You got a coin?
- 13:56No, we're strapped.
- 13:57Maki looks-- reaches around as person.
- 14:00I was filthy rich, but a god took all my money.
- 14:06A god took all your money?
- 14:09Correct, yeah.
- 14:10A gambling god, would you believe that?
- 14:13I did not lose it on the slant side.
- 14:14Wait a minute.
- 14:15Wait a minute.
- 14:15A gambling god.
- 14:16Yeah.
- 14:18I'm intrigued.
- 14:19Continue.
- 14:21That was the end of it, actually.
- 14:23A gambling master took all our money.
- 14:25This seems really unlikely.
- 14:27I don't know.
- 14:28I mean, I can't give you any of my little sauce of sauce.
- 14:30What?
- 14:31Free samples.
- 14:33I do give out free samples.
- 14:35OK, there you go.
- 14:36I take out little.
- 14:38And when I mean little, I'm talking like a dime--
- 14:42a dime piece of bread, a little bit of sauce.
- 14:46Oh, there you go.
- 14:46That's good.
- 14:47I hand it to each of you.
- 14:48Oh, each of us.
- 14:50Do you have any rats?
- 14:51I find them to be the best vehicle for a good sauce.
- 14:54Do you still eat rats?
- 14:56No, to be fair, I'm actually really hungry for rats.
- 15:00Little sauce of sauce goes with anything.
- 15:04Originally, originally it was made for my buddy McGriddles
- 15:08Burger restaurant, McGriddles Burgers.
- 15:11But yeah, he tragically died.
- 15:14He got lost in the sauce.
- 15:16More literally than you can imagine.
- 15:19It's more literal than you can--
- 15:21literal.
- 15:22Is he-- did he get drowned in the sauce?
- 15:26Literally?
- 15:28So he is the sauce.
- 15:31No, I'd rather not speak about McGriddles.
- 15:34OK, that's fine to your story.
- 15:36But maybe he only thinks he's dead.
- 15:39He got lost in the sauce dimension.
- 15:42He's in a pocket dimension.
- 15:43I'm dead.
- 15:45I'm right here.
- 15:46He's right next to it.
- 15:48No, he's very much dead.
- 15:51[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- 15:54[LAUGHTER]
- 15:56I can-- yeah, he is dead.
- 16:00Oh, he's dead.
- 16:00He is dead.
- 16:01Well, this is some sales bitch you're doing here.
- 16:04What's in the sauce?
- 16:05I'm holding up the freeze.
- 16:07As I finish the free sample.
- 16:08What did you guys think?
- 16:09Did you like it?
- 16:10Man, what did you think?
- 16:12Des?
- 16:13Is he naughty?
- 16:14He does his naughty.
- 16:15OK.
- 16:15I'm going to take that you liked it.
- 16:18They'll give him the rundown about me and the deal later.
- 16:21But what's important to note here
- 16:23is that this guy isn't just some sauce salesman slinging
- 16:27condiments on the side of the street.
- 16:29Actually, the whole sauce business is a cover.
- 16:33Turns out this fellow is an undercover cop
- 16:36for an organization known as Blank Space.
- 16:39I walk over to the guard.
- 16:44OK.
- 16:44And we just have our conversation.
- 16:46Yeah, what?
- 16:47What do you got?
- 16:49Yeah, I got some strange people I haven't seen in town before.
- 16:53Yeah.
- 16:53But not like this.
- 16:54He comes out of asking about little sauce.
- 16:56First of all, who hasn't heard about little sauce sauce?
- 17:00You do get around little sauce.
- 17:02I don't know if you're just coming over here
- 17:06to get words of affirmation from me.
- 17:08No, no, no.
- 17:09So he sits there and he says, we're looking for jobs.
- 17:11So I offered him a job.
- 17:12He said, no.
- 17:14Well, that also happens reasonably often.
- 17:16Yeah, but then he says, how about a heist?
- 17:18A little strange.
- 17:23That is a bit strange, for sure.
- 17:25Do you think we should take this to the higher ups?
- 17:28How about you follow him?
- 17:30Well, this guy over here to point to him over there.
- 17:34Is he still just like looking at me?
- 17:36Is he just like--
- 17:37He's walking around.
- 17:38He's giving you daggers.
- 17:41This guy seems like, tell me to come follow him.
- 17:44Now.
- 17:45What a coincidence.
- 17:47It's crazy how this world works.
- 17:48It really is.
- 17:50Get to it.
- 17:51And don't forget to let us know if you notice anything.
- 17:54All right, sounds good.
- 17:55Little sauce out.
- 17:56All right, little-- yeah.
- 17:58So in an attempt to curb their villainous enthusiasm,
- 18:01he decided to take them to a casino of all things,
- 18:05believing he could make them some money there,
- 18:07whom I, to stand in the way of some good-hearted gambling.
- 18:12Unfortunately, what resulted was less than ideal.
- 18:17With his static electricity--
- 18:19Oh, sorry!
- 18:20[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- 18:21I'm so sorry.
- 18:22Oh, I haven't felt that since they resuscitated me
- 18:27with the defibrator.
- 18:28Oh, I'm so sorry.
- 18:29I didn't mean to do it.
- 18:30Oh, what are you doing here, you dang goblin?
- 18:35I thought it was the cow game.
- 18:36I'm sorry.
- 18:37Oh, God.
- 18:38He's-- this dirty filthy goblin is--
- 18:42[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- 18:43--thirty on my hand.
- 18:44He's going to like to look at his face.
- 18:45She grabs a cane and she just turns--
- 18:48[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- 18:49--in a way for me.
- 18:50You filthy goblin.
- 18:52[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- 18:53All right, so--
- 18:55But no, he's definitely playing us up,
- 18:57because she's going to crawl and lay on the ground
- 19:00and grab her leg.
- 19:01Oh, no.
- 19:02No, please.
- 19:03I need eyes.
- 19:04Grab my leg.
- 19:05He's going to get me on this.
- 19:06It's easy.
- 19:07Just easy.
- 19:08I know the sign.
- 19:10Nice face, right?
- 19:11Just-- same hands away from my beautiful procedure.
- 19:16And he's just going to slowly like set down his arms
- 19:20on the ground and like drag himself, but very slow.
- 19:24Oh, hey, and he's going--
- 19:26I'm so sorry.
- 19:27You filthy, filthy monster.
- 19:31Get away from me.
- 19:33I will-- I will kill you.
- 19:36Oh, please.
- 19:38Oh, my gosh.
- 19:40I will rid our land of your filth.
- 19:43He just crouches into the--
- 19:45Is this a racist man?
- 19:47He crouches into the needle position
- 19:50and just starts crying next to her.
- 19:52We should have wiped your kind out when we had the chance.
- 19:55Anyway, if all is a time, can Nick roll a slight at hand?
- 19:59Yes, absolutely.
- 20:00Nick, I will give you--
- 20:01I look around.
- 20:02Can Fatty roll a slight?
- 20:03Yeah, can Fatty roll--
- 20:05Yes, Fatty can roll a slight at hand.
- 20:07Oh, sorry.
- 20:09Fatty Lumpkin--
- 20:10I'll do that again.
- 20:12While this is all happening, can Fatty or rather
- 20:14Keto roll a slight at hand?
- 20:16Yes, Fatty Lumpkins, if you could give me a slight hand,
- 20:18I will give you advantage since you are being very obviously
- 20:21helped by your friend.
- 20:26Don't take that one.
- 20:27I'll take the first one.
- 20:2919.
- 20:3019.
- 20:31I was worried your slight hand was going to be like a nugget.
- 20:33I'm like, oh, jeez.
- 20:35I was like, I figured the fighter would have decent dexterity.
- 20:39You shove your hand deep into--
- 20:41you're feeling confident, having seen this incredible display
- 20:44put on by your friend.
- 20:45You feel confident enough to jam your hand deep into this cup
- 20:49and withdraw eight gold coins from inside.
- 20:52Even amidst that insanity, they did manage to walk away
- 21:06with a decent amount of cash to kickstart
- 21:08their future endeavors.
- 21:10Oh, speaking of which, shortly thereafter,
- 21:12they got approached by a local lowlife who offered them a job.
- 21:17As you guys walk out, you see the bugbear kind of flip a coin
- 21:21to the bartender chick.
- 21:22And he comes walking up behind you guys, and he says, hey,
- 21:27you guys are pretty funny back there in the bar.
- 21:30I was just kind of over here and some of you
- 21:32were talking over here and something about you
- 21:34needed some work.
- 21:37Hey, I might ask you if you're interested.
- 21:40If not, yeah, it will be deal.
- 21:42[INAUDIBLE]
- 21:45I'm not really sure, guys.
- 21:46I got my sauce business.
- 21:48I'm just trying to help you guys out.
- 21:49And you said you would help us out.
- 21:51Let's hear what he's got to offer you.
- 21:54It could be the job of a lifetime.
- 21:57Oh, it is.
- 21:58It's the start of late night.
- 22:00I offered you guys the job of a lifetime making sauce.
- 22:03We don't got years.
- 22:05We got months.
- 22:06I want my old body back.
- 22:10Anyways--
- 22:10Sarah, what do you want?
- 22:12Well, wait, hold that thought, OK?
- 22:18You shut up.
- 22:21I'm just sitting here like, these guys are nuts.
- 22:23Like, I just want to help them make some money.
- 22:25And I'm kind of just with them to keep an eye on them
- 22:27at this point, see what's going on with them.
- 22:29Because they're clearly nuts.
- 22:30It just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
- 22:32I don't know what's going on.
- 22:33That's true.
- 22:34That's true.
- 22:35They call me the slicer.
- 22:38Yeah, that's not my real name, but that's
- 22:41what I'm going to leave you with.
- 22:43Anyways, everyone with a pretty tight name
- 22:45up here in the city.
- 22:47What I know what his name is, what I know this guy?
- 22:49Just from around--
- 22:50Roll a history check.
- 22:51I don't even-- dude, I know your name.
- 22:52Your name's like Brad or something.
- 22:54[LAUGHTER]
- 22:5716 plus 3, 19.
- 22:59OK, yeah.
- 23:00What's his name?
- 23:01It's not that you know his name, but you recognize the name
- 23:04the slicer.
- 23:05Reputation.
- 23:06He's a somewhat low tier criminal here in the city who
- 23:12is known for kind of just general thuggery, larceny,
- 23:17extortion.
- 23:18Slicing.
- 23:19A little bit of that.
- 23:20Slicing.
- 23:20Slicing ham.
- 23:22Slicing his ham slicer.
- 23:24Yeah.
- 23:25Well, violent.
- 23:26Yeah, a little violent.
- 23:27Just violent, he's slicer.
- 23:29Well, we're extorting people for things.
- 23:32So he's an extortionist.
- 23:33Yes.
- 23:34He says that.
- 23:35Did you say that?
- 23:35You say--
- 23:36Ah, slicer, the extortionist.
- 23:37You didn't.
- 23:38You literally saw his real title.
- 23:41You've literally seen wanted posters for him
- 23:44that said theft, larceny, extortion, and violence.
- 23:48How much?
- 23:49I just feel like--
- 23:50I think Mr. Slicer, I think we're good.
- 23:53Like, these guys are going to work in the side.
- 23:54Oh, no, no.
- 23:55That's me, Mr. Slicer.
- 23:57These guys are going to work in the soft shop, sir.
- 24:01We-- I've already claimed these employees.
- 24:03I understand that, you know, the unemployment rate
- 24:07isn't very high here.
- 24:08You know, most people have jobs.
- 24:09But I've got these ones in the back.
- 24:11These ones are covered.
- 24:12I don't know.
- 24:12I feel like slicing ham is my superior to the sauce business.
- 24:17So let's hear him out.
- 24:18Well, the ham is all year round.
- 24:20It is all year round.
- 24:22I mean, I like ham like the next guy.
- 24:24I don't really know what that has to do with anything.
- 24:26So you like slicing ham?
- 24:27Not exactly.
- 24:29Look, like I said, I'm part of a little bit of a--
- 24:32let's say a secret organization.
- 24:35And we all kind of work with each other for our own profit.
- 24:43And I got a bit of a job.
- 24:45But here's the thing.
- 24:46I kind of got to know that you guys are cool.
- 24:51I got to know that you guys can run with the big dogs like me.
- 24:56You came to us.
- 24:57Yeah, yeah.
- 24:58I feel like you've got the makings.
- 25:00And yeah, I just need to see it to believe it.
- 25:05Yeah, see, here's the thing.
- 25:07It's actually something I need you to help me out with tonight.
- 25:11I'll wait out this evening if you'd be able to.
- 25:18Yeah, so there's a pretty nearby alleyway
- 25:21that I need you guys to meet me in about 6.30 PM.
- 25:26It's going to start just getting dark a little bit,
- 25:28but not too much just yet.
- 25:31That comes later when we get everything all ready.
- 25:33But I'm going to need you guys there to help me get the prep
- 25:36work done, essentially.
- 25:37Once the job.
- 25:39Well, essentially, I'm going to be meeting some guys in there.
- 25:42They're going to do a little bit of a trade off with me
- 25:44for something that I've got that they want.
- 25:46But if we can do a little something, something,
- 25:49make some things happen, we'd be able to walk out of there
- 25:54with all the valuables.
- 25:57I see a classic double cross.
- 26:00Exactly, see, you get it.
- 26:02That's why I knew you guys would be cool.
- 26:04Their little job at the slicer took an interesting turn.
- 26:13Yeah, I'm going to be meeting with somebody in a little bit.
- 26:17And I need all of you to hide away.
- 26:20And then once they get here, and I give you the secret word,
- 26:23I want us all to jump out and take out
- 26:27as gods, but don't take him out, all right?
- 26:29Because he's got the goods.
- 26:30What's the secret word?
- 26:32Maki is going to try to climb up the side of the alley.
- 26:36OK.
- 26:37To the roof.
- 26:38Oh, wow, OK.
- 26:40Give me an-- yeah, give me an athletics check.
- 26:43Seven.
- 26:51He starts to try to climb up, but every time he just
- 26:55slips down the rock, and his awkward, feathered hands
- 27:00are just not letting him get up as well as he normally would.
- 27:04And too weak.
- 27:06Dump these noodle arms in this bird potty.
- 27:10The slicer watches this and just shakes his head,
- 27:13and he says, well, you were doing all right in the shadows.
- 27:16I don't know where you were trying to go, but feather,
- 27:19as for your question, my phrase--
- 27:22it's a secret phrase.
- 27:23And when you hear it, I need you all to jump out
- 27:25and attack the gods, all right?
- 27:27So I need you all listening, for when
- 27:28I tell you what this secret phrase is, all right?
- 27:31Are you all listening?
- 27:32Does not.
- 27:33Does not, OK.
- 27:34Good.
- 27:34Good.
- 27:35He looks very intense eye contact.
- 27:37Oh, good.
- 27:38Because he's going to love this.
- 27:40All right, the secret phrase.
- 27:42He leans in.
- 27:43He starts to whisper to each of you.
- 27:45The secret phrase is, well, that's
- 27:48quite a load you've got there.
- 27:51A carriage, very ornate, very classy looking,
- 27:55pulls up to the alleyway.
- 27:57A man and three bodyguards, all burly dudes dressed in all black.
- 28:03They've got dusters on, and they all
- 28:05wear these kind of fedora-esque hats.
- 28:09They all step out of this horse-drawn carriage.
- 28:12And the very wealthy looking, well-dressed,
- 28:16has a fur coat that comes off of his back.
- 28:20He's got a nice purple cape that's coming off of that.
- 28:24He's dressed in a few different nicely metal chains
- 28:29of some kinds, like there's maybe one that's gold,
- 28:31maybe a couple that are silver, et cetera.
- 28:33He comes walking over.
- 28:35You can see on his hands as he moves forward,
- 28:37he kind of twiddles his fingers.
- 28:38And he's got rings on his various fingers, all of which
- 28:42really suggest wealth.
- 28:44One thing that's key that you notice about him
- 28:47is some of these items that I've described
- 28:50feature horse insignias on them, whether it be a horse head
- 28:56or sort of just like the silhouette of a horse head
- 29:00or some variation of that, or a full horse, like a little symbol.
- 29:04Whatever the case this dude definitely seems into horses.
- 29:08Oh, a horse guy.
- 29:09He's a horse guy.
- 29:10That's scary.
- 29:12He approaches and the slicer says, Lord Pendleton, I assume.
- 29:18Yes, Viscount Cornelius Montague Pendleton
- 29:22fits Gerald at your service.
- 29:25Now, do you have the semen?
- 29:29The slicer--
- 29:30I knew it.
- 29:31The slicer reaches into his cloak and withdraws a cylinder.
- 29:36Does he hear snickering all across the saloon?
- 29:40[LAUGHTER]
- 29:42He's got a little Coney victory in his body.
- 29:46Oh, no.
- 29:48[INTERPOSING VOICES]
- 29:52All right, for that, I'm going to need
- 29:55to see some charisma saving to keep yourselves from chuckling
- 30:02when you hear the word semen.
- 30:05This isn't right.
- 30:07Remember me.
- 30:08Nice, right?
- 30:0917.
- 30:10Nice.
- 30:119.
- 30:1312.
- 30:14Wow.
- 30:15There you go.
- 30:17There are a couple of very soft snickers.
- 30:20And slicer ever so slightly looks back
- 30:22with a little bit of a glare.
- 30:24But Lord Pendleton seems not to notice.
- 30:28Just saying.
- 30:28He's very focused.
- 30:30He's got to warn people.
- 30:31He's very focused on his--
- 30:33I mean, that's on his own.
- 30:36It was kind of a gibble.
- 30:37That is true.
- 30:38He looks intently at this cylinder.
- 30:42And he says, oh, there it is.
- 30:45Oh, that's going to be the stuff, isn't it?
- 30:49The stuff that'll move my horse.
- 30:52Stud farm.
- 30:54That was the word?
- 30:55Yeah.
- 30:56[LAUGHTER]
- 30:57This would take my stud farm to the next level.
- 31:01And this is, as promised, it's going to take some time,
- 31:04obviously, for me to receive the results.
- 31:05So I want to make sure I'm paying for what I asked for.
- 31:09And slicer replies, yeah, it's the stuff you can trust me.
- 31:13After all, you know I'm somebody that'll
- 31:16get you what you want.
- 31:17And he says, OK, well, just know that if you double cross me,
- 31:21and this isn't the stuff that I was looking for,
- 31:24I will send my men and emotions to his big, burly bodyguards,
- 31:28who, of course, I'll do the very classic pop all their knuckles.
- 31:32How many bodyguards are there?
- 31:33There are three.
- 31:34Great.
- 31:35They will find you.
- 31:37And they will get back my money.
- 31:39And they will get back my time in your--
- 31:44well, you understand.
- 31:46And the slicer just kind of nods.
- 31:48And he says, yeah, I'll understand.
- 31:50Now let's see your end of the bargain.
- 31:52And sure enough, Lord Pendleton looks over
- 31:55to one of his bodyguards, who hands him
- 31:56a large leather suitcase, which he holds out
- 32:00towards the slicer.
- 32:03He opens it up showing a large bag of jiggling gold pieces.
- 32:09He says, yeah, of course I brought this stuff.
- 32:11You know I'm good for it.
- 32:13This means nothing to me compared to that vial of semen.
- 32:17And the slicer says, peeks inside, sees the gold, says,
- 32:21well, looks like we've got a deal well made.
- 32:25And as they exchange goods, he hands the vial of semen
- 32:29to Lord Pendleton.
- 32:31And he says, well, that's quite a load you've got there.
- 32:36Does Johnson--
- 32:37And he throws one of his hand axes at the guard
- 32:40that was handing the bag of gold coins.
- 32:43OK.
- 32:43All right.
- 32:46And I'm going to pull out my bow.
- 32:48And I'm going to just take a shot at one of the--
- 32:52At Lord Pendleton.
- 32:54At Lord Pendleton?
- 32:55Sure.
- 32:56All right.
- 32:57Are you an advantage to these grapple?
- 32:59Yeah, he's prone to it.
- 33:00So yeah.
- 33:01Do I get advantage to this range attack on the problem?
- 33:05That's true.
- 33:05Actually, I think it's disadvantage isn't it?
- 33:08When prone?
- 33:09That's only when three quarters covered.
- 33:11But he's covered by a bugbear.
- 33:13He's covered by a bugbear.
- 33:15I might not want to shoot him.
- 33:15So I tell you what, I will let you roll normally.
- 33:18Normally.
- 33:19But I get my sneak attack.
- 33:20And then I'm going to roll a 50/50
- 33:21to see which of the two you hit.
- 33:24Oh.
- 33:25Wait, you just rolled.
- 33:25What did you get?
- 33:27Oh, yeah, 8 plus 7.
- 33:29It's going to go 50.
- 33:30Yeah, that's higher.
- 33:32Also, it's sneak attack.
- 33:33I'm going to roll this d4.
- 33:34If it's a one or two, you're hitting Pendleton.
- 33:36If it's a three or four, you're hitting--
- 33:39I wouldn't have it any other way.
- 33:43One, two.
- 33:43It's a two.
- 33:44All right, you hit Pendleton.
- 33:46What are your damage?
- 33:4711.
- 33:50He's dead.
- 33:52You shoot him right in the side.
- 33:54It stabs right through his rib cage and into his heart.
- 33:58Slicer immediately looks-- what?
- 33:59And then-- oh, wait, you didn't go in.
- 34:01He goes inside.
- 34:02Slicer immediately looks over at you and he's, what are you
- 34:04doing?
- 34:04What told you not to kill the target?
- 34:07The slicer turns around.
- 34:12He's not really focused on you guys.
- 34:14He's more focused on the remaining target.
- 34:17So he turns around, pulls out his morning star,
- 34:20and he leaps forward, and he swings it in a hefty arc.
- 34:24And he slams into the remaining guard,
- 34:28slamming the morning star directly into his chest,
- 34:30knocking the man straight to the ground
- 34:32and killing him instantly.
- 34:33He turns around to look at all of you, and he said,
- 34:36I said, one thing, don't kill the target.
- 34:41Now we got a dead lord on our hands.
- 34:44This is going way over our heads.
- 34:46Do you realize how powerful this man is?
- 34:48He is one of the--
- 34:50He says an exact number.
- 34:51You know it's a bad number.
- 34:53He's one of six.
- 34:54You know what?
- 34:57We kill the slicer, save the slicer, kill the lord,
- 35:02and we bring the slicer's corpse and any CCTV video footage
- 35:08proves with us.
- 35:09End the scene.
- 35:11End the scene.
- 35:11We're keeping that.
- 35:13That's evidence.
- 35:14That's evidence.
- 35:15You're the cop here.
- 35:16Wait, well, now we know that.
- 35:17You might be most--
- 35:18Oh, see, we have a narc with us.
- 35:20Oh, yeah.
- 35:21We have a reputable eyewitness.
- 35:23No reputable.
- 35:25You guys just talking about this alley,
- 35:26and I saw these guys, you know--
- 35:28Taking down a criminal.
- 35:30I saw some horsey-machines going on.
- 35:33He was only focused on the jar.
- 35:35He's little sauce after all.
- 35:37I was wondering, remember what makes him good?
- 35:40Oh, was that the secret?
- 35:44Oh, no.
- 35:45I've been found out.
- 35:47He was one of six primary and incredibly wealthy leaders
- 35:52within the community.
- 35:54He's one of the members of the REG horse race,
- 35:57and they're going to know that he's gone.
- 35:58They're going to know this tomorrow, if even that long.
- 36:03And they're going to know that you killed him.
- 36:05I want to look at him before I do this and say,
- 36:09slicer, no slicer.
- 36:13And do four damage.
- 36:14That was literally all he had left.
- 36:17As he-- this fireball slams in--
- 36:21I say fireball, sorry, fire bolt.
- 36:23This fireball is a whole other thing.
- 36:24This fire bolt slams into his chest.
- 36:27You watch as the ice that you had previously caught--
- 36:31put onto his body from your ice blast or whatever, ice bolt,
- 36:35melt away.
- 36:36But it turns into a horrific situation of red melting
- 36:40from his face, like the guy from Indiana Jones
- 36:43when he wins the Ark of the Covenant.
- 36:46There we go.
- 36:46Or the other dude that drinks from the Gala.
- 36:48Either one.
- 36:49His face just basically is melting.
- 36:52And he falls forward.
- 36:53His body's still aflame.
- 36:55Now you have two smoldering dead carcasses
- 36:59within this alleyway.
- 37:00[MUSIC PLAYING]
- 37:19With Lord Pendleton and the criminal formerly known
- 37:22as the Slicer lying dead in a dark and dally way,
- 37:26the criminals make matters worse by stealing
- 37:29the wealthy noble's horse drawn cart
- 37:31and directing the driver back to the mansion
- 37:34from which it came.
- 37:35Crimes of assault and murder unable to assesiate
- 37:39their egregious greed, they decide to steal whatever they
- 37:43could carry in what wasn't nailed down at the mansion.
- 37:46In their various arms and wings and loading them back
- 37:50onto the carriage and taking their ill-gotten goods back
- 37:53to Little Sauce's house in Mediumville District.
- 37:56Never fear, good listeners.
- 37:58They'll sort of get their comeuppance later on.
- 38:02Waking up the next morning, the group
- 38:04discovers an interesting new opportunity
- 38:06to procure some added funds and equipment
- 38:10in the form of an annual event held in the local area.
- 38:14The Minotaur Races.
- 38:16All right, so, kick things off.
- 38:22First of all, we got the barriers set up all the way around here
- 38:26so you know which way to go.
- 38:27As soon as we start the race, you will have a five-second
- 38:30head start before we release those Minotaur's.
- 38:33The five-second head start is, of course,
- 38:35to make sure that all of you, the many of you
- 38:37that have entered this race, can at least get spread out
- 38:40just a little bit before we start letting the Minotaur's
- 38:43run in and kill y'all.
- 38:45I'm just kidding.
- 38:46I don't know.
- 38:46It happens.
- 38:47Degress.
- 38:49There are barriers that will help lead you down the path
- 38:51when you get to the end.
- 38:52That's when you'll get scored.
- 38:54If you, by any means, or any way, pass over the barriers,
- 38:58under the barriers, or through the barriers,
- 39:01you will be disqualified from the race.
- 39:03But please do so if it means saving your life.
- 39:07We do not like collecting and picking up the bodies
- 39:09afterwards, so the fewer there are, the better.
- 39:12Of course, there are no weapons in this race,
- 39:15so please do not bring them out.
- 39:17If we are referees who are scattered throughout the event,
- 39:20catch you with weapons who will be disqualified and removed.
- 39:24And usually forcefully.
- 39:26There will be no flying.
- 39:28I don't care if you do it naturally because of your species
- 39:32or if it's through magic.
- 39:34There will be no flying.
- 39:36If we catch you flying, we'll be disqualified
- 39:38and removed from the race.
- 39:40Push.
- 39:41Oh, can we--
- 39:42--shouting this out.
- 39:42Yeah.
- 39:43Can we--
- 39:43Shout it out.
- 39:44Can we fly?
- 39:45No, tankies cannot fly.
- 39:46There's-- everybody in the audience
- 39:49just turns and gives you this angry look,
- 39:50and he's like, it's fine, folks.
- 39:52There's one every year.
- 39:53[LAUGHTER]
- 39:55In addition to flying, there will be no teleportation
- 39:57magic or any other kind of transportation-related
- 40:00contra-ation magic or otherwise that includes flying,
- 40:04as I just said.
- 40:05I don't know.
- 40:06How many times will you say it?
- 40:08They really doesn't want people to fly.
- 40:10There's one every year.
- 40:10There's one every year.
- 40:12Participants must follow the predetermined route.
- 40:16If you leave the route or course, you will be disqualified.
- 40:20The barriers are there to establish that.
- 40:22No climbing on the buildings, no using the rooftops.
- 40:25That's leaving the course.
- 40:27You'll be disqualified.
- 40:28Participants, you were allowed to fight with each other,
- 40:32but we appreciate you not killing each other.
- 40:35People die in this race because of the minotaurs.
- 40:38They should not be dying because of the other participants.
- 40:41We appreciate you leaving other people alone, for the most part.
- 40:45But we also understand that harassing and otherwise causing
- 40:50others to fail is part of the whole race.
- 40:52Kind of funny.
- 40:53And it's funny.
- 40:54Yes, exactly.
- 40:55Thank you.
- 40:55See this guy?
- 40:57There's one of these every year, and I appreciate them.
- 41:00Don't appreciate that guy.
- 41:02Yeah, don't kill or leave me name anybody.
- 41:05That kind of jumps back to no weapons.
- 41:07But I know some of you--
- 41:08You see the three super muscular ones, and they're like,
- 41:11he's like, yeah, I know.
- 41:12You don't need weapons to be a weapon.
- 41:14Just please keep it at a minimum.
- 41:18Anyways, you've agreed by participating
- 41:21to the dangers and possible death that
- 41:24can occur during this race.
- 41:26We don't do waivers by stepping into this course.
- 41:29That is basically the waiver.
- 41:31The guards literally won't care if you die during this event
- 41:35inside the course.
- 41:36I mean, unless you were killed, you get it.
- 41:40I already explained all this.
- 41:41Anyways, let's get this going.
- 41:43It turns, and there's like a big lever on top of this.
- 41:46Before it goes, I'm going to go in front of the doors.
- 41:50I'm going to start to just toss down my two flasks of oil.
- 41:56OK, all right.
- 41:57I'm just going to stand there and watch him wait for the lever.
- 42:01I'm going to pull out my tinder box.
- 42:03Oh, snap.
- 42:05This is some Baldur's Gate strategy right here.
- 42:09All right, sounds good.
- 42:10So he reaches down.
- 42:12He grabs this lever on the rooftop, and he says,
- 42:15and we begin the race in three, two, one.
- 42:19Run!
- 42:20Dangerous as the race was, our intrepid criminals,
- 42:28albeit through some questionable methods at the very end,
- 42:32managed to take all three of the top spots,
- 42:34winning them some nice gear and gold to boot.
- 42:38After the race, Sos went and spoke
- 42:41to the chief of blank space to inform him
- 42:43he was quitting the force.
- 42:45My goodness, how sad.
- 42:48He wanted to dedicate his life to helping
- 42:50his new friends achieve their seemingly impossible goal.
- 42:54Although the chief wasn't too happy about the decision,
- 42:56he did inform Little Sos that his old partner's father,
- 43:01Gideon McGriddle, wanted to speak with him
- 43:04about something urgent.
- 43:06So while the rest of the gang went to get something to eat,
- 43:08Sos headed out for the Atlantic Heights District
- 43:11to find out what the problem was,
- 43:12and what he discovered there was quite concerning.
- 43:17Hey, Gideon, it's Feather.
- 43:21Feather?
- 43:22Is that you?
- 43:23And sure enough, the man turns around.
- 43:25He's got very kind of crazy white hair.
- 43:28It looks like, like I said, either Doc Brown or Rick
- 43:31from Rick and Morty.
- 43:32He's got kind of this crazy hair.
- 43:33He's got big old goggles on and a magnifying glass
- 43:37that kind of comes off of.
- 43:38It's got an arm that attaches to the goggles
- 43:41and kind of comes down and fright.
- 43:42So when he turns to you, you see this big giant eye
- 43:45reflected in the goggle.
- 43:46And he goes, Feather, it's been so long.
- 43:50How are you, my boy?
- 43:52I'm doing great.
- 43:54I was told you wanted to see me by Captain Chief, Chief
- 43:57Captain.
- 43:58Yes, yes, of course.
- 43:59I was talking to him the other day.
- 44:02Sorry, it's a bit of a mess in here.
- 44:03And he kind of just starts to move around.
- 44:05He's kind of like picking things up and moving things around
- 44:07to kind of like tidy up a little bit.
- 44:08Oh, yes, it's just been--
- 44:11it's been a heck of a time, you know,
- 44:13trying to keep things clean and just so much work to do.
- 44:17How have you been?
- 44:19I've been well.
- 44:20Things are definitely changing.
- 44:23Oh, so?
- 44:25It's a lot to explain.
- 44:27How have you been?
- 44:27Oh, well, I've--
- 44:30it's been busy.
- 44:31It's been busy for sure.
- 44:32I've had some very, a very special project
- 44:35I've been working on.
- 44:36And I think I've found some success.
- 44:39But I may need a little bit of guidance from somebody
- 44:44with some police background.
- 44:47That's why I wanted to get ahold of you.
- 44:49What do you got?
- 44:50Well, yeah, well--
- 44:53And he kind of pauses for a moment.
- 44:54And he turns around.
- 44:56And he says, oh, please take a seat.
- 44:59And he points towards a--
- 45:01just a bench that's just sitting kind of in the back of the room.
- 45:05All right, I'll go sit down.
- 45:07And he takes a seat as well.
- 45:08And he says, oh, out of curiosity, yeah.
- 45:13Is it-- would you say--
- 45:14and maybe this is a bit of a--
- 45:16oh, how would you say this--
- 45:19intellectual question, maybe metaphorical, whatnot--
- 45:24is a man attached to the crimes of his creation?
- 45:33It's a little bit above my head.
- 45:36Let's see.
- 45:36Maybe if I phrase it differently,
- 45:38maybe it'll help get the idea across here.
- 45:41So let's say somebody makes something.
- 45:44And then that thing commits a crime.
- 45:49Does that make the one who created it
- 45:51responsible for the crime?
- 45:53Not necessarily.
- 45:54Not if you didn't intend to create a crime.
- 45:56Oh, just tell me what's going on.
- 45:57Well, it's a bit complicated.
- 46:00Like I said, I've been working on a particularly special project.
- 46:04Made something-- something good, I think.
- 46:09And maybe it had a little bit diverse results.
- 46:14I wasn't expecting.
- 46:15You know, maybe it's gotten a little bit out of control.
- 46:20I'm not sure exactly if I need to go to somebody to get help.
- 46:25Or maybe--
- 46:26Just tell me what's going on.
- 46:27I got to be somewhere in an hour.
- 46:29Oh, oh, well, look if--
- 46:31[LAUGHTER]
- 46:34I'm sorry.
- 46:36I've got something really important going on.
- 46:39I just get to it so I can help you.
- 46:41Well, it's just--
- 46:44In my mind, I'm sitting-- I'm like,
- 46:45I always hated how his dad rambles and rambles.
- 46:48It's true.
- 46:49It's true.
- 46:49It's un-patured.
- 46:50It doesn't get on with the point.
- 46:52Well, look, if you've got somewhere to be,
- 46:55I don't want to keep you from that.
- 46:57It's a bit too complicated for me to just kind of quickly
- 47:00blurt out.
- 47:01It's going to take a little bit more time
- 47:03to discuss the really fine details of this situation.
- 47:07But I really, truly think it's something
- 47:10that you, especially of all the people in this entire city,
- 47:13will really appreciate.
- 47:14Almost as much as myself, I have appreciated it.
- 47:17But again, if you've got something else going on,
- 47:20just come back another time.
- 47:21I'm sure it'll be fine.
- 47:22I'm sure there won't be any more problems.
- 47:24Just tell me what's going on.
- 47:26Again, it's just too complicated.
- 47:28And it's so amazing.
- 47:30I just feel like it's going to take more time than just
- 47:32a couple of moments in a chair sitting across from you.
- 47:35I can't explain it.
- 47:36Hey, like, really, investigation or--
- 47:41Well, what are you looking for?
- 47:43He's got it.
- 47:45He's made something.
- 47:46And something has done something bad.
- 47:49Kind of what I'm getting from this.
- 47:51I'm just looking around for maybe clues around what
- 47:54he's created.
- 47:55OK.
- 47:56Yeah.
- 47:56Let it be investigation.
- 47:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:59Nat 20.
- 48:00Holy cow.
- 48:01Are you serious?
- 48:02Holy cow.
- 48:03OK.
- 48:04I tell you what.
- 48:09You get his attention.
- 48:11You get him to kind of shut up for a second, you know?
- 48:14And ask him a question.
- 48:17The idiot.
- 48:18Yes.
- 48:20I've got a lot going on.
- 48:24But I want to help you.
- 48:27I owe it to your son.
- 48:28OK.
- 48:30Tell me what's going on so I can help you.
- 48:34OK.
- 48:36All right.
- 48:36I'll say it this way.
- 48:38You don't have to owe it to my son anymore.
- 48:43Because I think I might have found a way to bring him back.
- 48:50That's a horrible idea.
- 48:52OK.
- 48:53So you say that, which is kind of why I brought you here.
- 48:58There's a very possible chance--
- 49:00I already did it.
- 49:02And there's a very possible chance
- 49:07that as I mentioned before, I got some results
- 49:10that I was not expecting.
- 49:13But it worked.
- 49:15And I think that's the important takeaway here.
- 49:18You never mess with the dead.
- 49:21What have you done?
- 49:22Where's he at?
- 49:22What have you done?
- 49:23Let me see.
- 49:24That's kind of where things get complicated.
- 49:26That's what I wanted to talk to you about, right?
- 49:28He's not here right now.
- 49:31Where is he?
- 49:31I'm not sure, which is part of the problem.
- 49:36He has a bit of a rambunctious spirit
- 49:41that I feel like maybe he was missing before, which is great.
- 49:45Maybe there was something that was a part of him
- 49:48that needed to exist to complete him.
- 49:52Whatever the case, he's taken off.
- 49:54And I respect his independence.
- 49:59He's an adult.
- 50:01He's dead.
- 50:03Not anymore, technically speaking.
- 50:07I got his soul, and I put it in something of my own creation.
- 50:15Which was?
- 50:16Well, I mean, it was a puppet before, but now it's a real boy.
- 50:19Oh, my god.
- 50:24But not the creepy puppets you used to play with.
- 50:28They're not creepy.
- 50:30You thought they were creepy?
- 50:31Yes, they scared me.
- 50:32That's why you screamed every time I woke you up holding one
- 50:36over your head when you stayed the night with McGriddle,
- 50:39when you guys had your sleepovers.
- 50:41I thought it was fun.
- 50:43You were scared?
- 50:45I was scared the whole time.
- 50:46What?
- 50:48Why?
- 50:49It's just a doll.
- 50:52It's wood.
- 50:53It moves only when I move.
- 50:54It's inanimate.
- 50:56The new doll, the McGriddle doll, moves without my business.
- 51:01Its anatomy is very, very detailed.
- 51:05Well, I'll take that as a compliment.
- 51:06Where did he run off to?
- 51:12Where's he at first?
- 51:13Well, if I knew that, I wouldn't have had to call you here.
- 51:14I could have gotten him and told him, hey, you messed up.
- 51:18You caused some trouble in the area.
- 51:21That's not cool.
- 51:22I need you to bring the kids back.
- 51:25And then this wall blow over.
- 51:26Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 51:28Oh, what?
- 51:28Go back.
- 51:30All right.
- 51:30I would find him and I would say, you know, you messed up.
- 51:34And you know, this wall blow over and that's fine.
- 51:37You just need to bring the kids back.
- 51:38Oh, you gotta stop.
- 51:39Stop?
- 51:40OK.
- 51:41Like what, kids?
- 51:42Oh, the kids.
- 51:43Oh, yeah.
- 51:44You didn't see the missing posters outside.
- 51:46Oh, well, what have you done?
- 51:49Well, I didn't do it.
- 51:50I'm anything.
- 51:52I made a boy out of wood and brought him to life with my son.
- 51:58So you definitely get the idea that this guy has lost some
- 52:02of his marbles and he does definitely own marbles.
- 52:05I I should have definitely been checking in on you more often.
- 52:10Oh, it's OK.
- 52:11I know you're busy with blank space and all that.
- 52:15Obviously business.
- 52:17Obviously not OK.
- 52:19Oh, I've been fine.
- 52:20Like I said, knowing that my son is OK and he's back and you know,
- 52:24it's just been very relieving.
- 52:27How do we know what your son and not some evil?
- 52:31I like to think that as well.
- 52:34How did you get his soul back?
- 52:35Well, there was this book that I found and it had a ritual in it
- 52:39about how to bring back the souls of the dead, but it just needed
- 52:42some sort of body to put it into.
- 52:44So I followed the instructions.
- 52:46I got all the necessary components and I said the words
- 52:50and I did the weird little dance and the hand motions and bada bing,
- 52:55bada boom.
- 52:56There was my son's soul in the thing and it was a little bit
- 53:01creepy at first.
- 53:02I will admit.
- 53:02You know what he's saying?
- 53:04Well, he said, hey, dad.
- 53:07And I said, son.
- 53:08And then we had an emotional hug and it was a beautiful thing.
- 53:13I'm tearing up a little bit just thinking about it.
- 53:16And then, you know, we spent a few days together.
- 53:19I made him pancakes.
- 53:21He could not eat them.
- 53:23I learned a lesson that day and that's OK.
- 53:26I didn't need to cook for him, which honestly, great.
- 53:30Again, double.
- 53:32Like he's like so much easier to take care of, which I mean,
- 53:36he's an adult.
- 53:37So.
- 53:37OK.
- 53:37And then what happened?
- 53:38He made him pancakes.
- 53:40Yes, yes.
- 53:40And he went out and yes, he would play with the kids outside
- 53:45in the area.
- 53:46And I thought, oh, that's a little strange.
- 53:48But you know, it's just it's like a rebirth.
- 53:52You know, feather, it's a rebirth.
- 53:54His soul has been put into a new body.
- 53:56He's got to kind of bring back the maturity of the adulthood
- 54:00that he wants, you know, lived in.
- 54:02I don't know what goes on in the afterlife.
- 54:04You know, what he's been experiencing up until now.
- 54:06Anyways.
- 54:08And then he, you know, started not coming home.
- 54:11And I wasn't sure where he was going.
- 54:12And I tried to ask him when he did come home.
- 54:14I'm like, where have you been?
- 54:15And he didn't want to tell me.
- 54:17He said he's got a secret hideout, which I thought, oh,
- 54:20you know, kids, secret hideouts, whatever.
- 54:24And then that's when the kids started going missing in the area.
- 54:27And I said, I said, he came home.
- 54:29And I said, now, McGriddle, why are kids in the area going
- 54:33missing?
- 54:33What do you know about this?
- 54:34And he said, nothing, dad, leave me alone.
- 54:37And I was like, OK, I respect your independence.
- 54:40And then he kind of disappeared altogether.
- 54:43And kids have continued to disappear.
- 54:46And people in the neighborhood are getting upset.
- 54:49And that's not good for business.
- 54:51And yeah.
- 54:53Where was he last seen?
- 54:55I think I heard someone see.
- 54:57They saw him in the square talking to one of the children.
- 55:02I think he disguised himself, maybe.
- 55:06He does look like a puppet, to be fair.
- 55:09You know, when I said that I'm out of the maf to McGriddle,
- 55:13it's not entirely true.
- 55:14I added some fun paint and some other things
- 55:16to kind of just like, I didn't think
- 55:17it would work the first time.
- 55:19I thought I'd just get a goofy puppet.
- 55:20So I just had some fun with it.
- 55:22And then it worked the first time.
- 55:23And I was calling me surprised.
- 55:27Oh, you put me in a tough spot.
- 55:30Oh, I'm sure it's fine.
- 55:31You were his best friend.
- 55:32I'm sure he'd be excited to see you.
- 55:34And you can bring him home and get the kids back.
- 55:37And then you'd be the hero.
- 55:39And you know, blank space would be really impressed.
- 55:41You'd probably get promoted.
- 55:44Yeah, this is not good.
- 55:48We're going to have to--
- 55:49I don't think it's that bad.
- 55:51He's hurting your children.
- 55:53Well, we don't know he's hurting them.
- 55:55He's killing children.
- 55:57That may be true.
- 55:59I'm going to have-- if I find him,
- 56:01I will have to kill him.
- 56:03No, well, hold on now, son.
- 56:05Hold on.
- 56:06I don't think that's necessary if you bring him home.
- 56:10I'm sure I can talk some sense into it.
- 56:12You can help me talk some sense into it.
- 56:14You know, we're bringing him back.
- 56:17Feather, isn't that what we wanted?
- 56:20No.
- 56:20To have McGriddle back?
- 56:22No.
- 56:23No, you don't bring people back.
- 56:26I've got a lot to think about.
- 56:28I'm sorry.
- 56:29I need to get going.
- 56:32Will you be back?
- 56:33I will be back.
- 56:34And I'm going to have to bring some back up.
- 56:37Now, I don't deal much with the undead.
- 56:40But I do deal quite a bit in souls.
- 56:44And I've been around a long time, long enough
- 56:46to see mortals attempting to bring these souls back
- 56:49in a variety of ways.
- 56:51Long story short, it typically doesn't work out,
- 56:55certainly not in the way that you might hope.
- 56:57So the gang joined Soss and the hunt for his undead friend
- 57:01and were able to get an interesting clue along the way
- 57:04thanks to a local street urchin selling newspapers.
- 57:08How is it that all the other kids are missing, but not you?
- 57:11Would you do right that they all did wrong?
- 57:14I don't know.
- 57:15I'll just hang around.
- 57:17You know what?
- 57:17Honestly, it's kind of weird.
- 57:19I haven't really talked to anybody about this,
- 57:20because nobody listens to me anyways.
- 57:22There's this new kid around here.
- 57:24His name is Raku.
- 57:25He wears all these crazy colorful clothes.
- 57:28And he plays with kids.
- 57:30Those are the same kids that go missing.
- 57:32He just comes out to Trank and Square.
- 57:33He just plays with the kids there.
- 57:35You know, they're going to run around the buildings,
- 57:37they're playing tag.
- 57:38It's kind of a weird looking dude.
- 57:39It's weird pointy.
- 57:40When was the last time you saw him?
- 57:42I think I saw him yesterday.
- 57:43He was talking to Susie Lee.
- 57:46And now she's missing, I think.
- 57:47I'll be her parents.
- 57:48I sit there right now just hoping for the best.
- 57:50Maybe she snuck out last night.
- 57:52Maybe she's coming back.
- 57:54Parents are stupid.
- 57:55That's why I ain't got none.
- 57:57Wow.
- 57:58I got rid of them all.
- 57:59Yeah, I got rid of them all.
- 58:01He just has.
- 58:04Once they had an idea of how the alleged "migrittle"
- 58:07compended the crimes, it was time to set a trap.
- 58:10Thankfully, it seemed like the gang was all
- 58:13on the same page for once.
- 58:15We dressed him up as a child.
- 58:17He had one?
- 58:17Yeah.
- 58:18Wow.
- 58:18That's it.
- 58:19Our minds were on the same pathway.
- 58:22Because I already had a plan cooked up.
- 58:24Rourke's going to open up his sack.
- 58:28And he's going to pull out a costume he has.
- 58:30It is a purple, fluffy outfit with a little hat with a feather.
- 58:35Nice.
- 58:36And it's frilly.
- 58:38It's like frilly.
- 58:39Rourke's skipping around.
- 58:40I'm frilly.
- 58:41I'm silly.
- 58:42My name is Willie.
- 58:44Play with me.
- 58:45Play with me.
- 58:46Play with me.
- 58:48As you're sitting on the alleyway saying, you know,
- 58:51I want to play.
- 58:51I want to play.
- 58:52Someone play with me.
- 58:53You hear a voice speak out from the shadows.
- 58:56It says, hey, I'll play with you.
- 58:59A face peeks out from some of the darker shadows
- 59:01of this alleyway.
- 59:02Ah, I have a fun place that we could play.
- 59:05We could play tag.
- 59:07We could play hide and seek.
- 59:08We could play marbles.
- 59:10What do you want to play?
- 59:12It seemed as though things were working out for once.
- 59:16Rourke followed the Raku character back to the old clock
- 59:19tower, leaving a trail for his comrades to follow until--
- 59:25You knock on the door.
- 59:27And all of a sudden, it just kind of slowly opens with a creak.
- 59:30And it's just-- it's almost pitch black in there.
- 59:33There's maybe a little bit of light
- 59:34that just kind of comes in, obviously, from the sun.
- 59:37The door creaks open ever so slowly.
- 59:40And there's nobody there.
- 59:42But all of a sudden, you hear--
- 59:44In you go.
- 59:44And you feel a sharp push from behind you.
- 59:47And the next thing you know, you're
- 59:49standing in essentially pitch black darkness
- 59:51as the door slams behind you.
- 59:54The rest of the gang followed the clues
- 59:56left behind by their disguised friend
- 59:58back to the old clock tower.
- 59:59When they entered, they found Rourke and many
- 1:00:02of the missing children wrapped up in string
- 1:00:05and hanging from the support beams, like little cocoons.
- 1:00:10As they broke their ally loose, they
- 1:00:12were attacked by allied creatures
- 1:00:14of the mysterious Raku.
- 1:00:17Just as you do, you hear something kind of out
- 1:00:19of the corner of your ear.
- 1:00:20And you turn to see just these little dolls.
- 1:00:23They just seem really just generic.
- 1:00:25They just have regular--
- 1:00:27a little bit bigger than Barbie size.
- 1:00:29They're more fully built.
- 1:00:30It's not this tiny little pencil, whatever, creature.
- 1:00:34It's just a small puppet.
- 1:00:36I'm thinking kind of--
- 1:00:36A marionette.
- 1:00:37Kind of, yeah.
- 1:00:38Or almost like Lilo and Stitch, how
- 1:00:40she has that weird little thing that she makes.
- 1:00:42A little voodoo-doo.
- 1:00:43Yeah, the weird creepy-- yeah.
- 1:00:44It kind of looks like that about that size.
- 1:00:46It sounds like it's moving on a clockwork.
- 1:00:48And it just kind of--
- 1:00:49[MUSIC PLAYING]
- 1:00:51Kind of comes walking out from the shadows.
- 1:00:53And it starts to approach you.
- 1:00:54Is that the puppet?
- 1:00:55Yeah.
- 1:00:56When I turn through the DM, that's the puppet.
- 1:00:59It is not the puppet.
- 1:01:00No, it is not the puppet.
- 1:01:03It looked at rainbow on.
- 1:01:05That-- I don't know what the heck that is.
- 1:01:08Doesn't look friendly.
- 1:01:10Dad smashes one with the Morning Star.
- 1:01:12All right.
- 1:01:13An epic battle against Raku and his minions ensued.
- 1:01:16And it was revealed that their inklings
- 1:01:17that this puppet wasn't Little Sauce's old friend,
- 1:01:20McGriddle, reincarnated whatsoever,
- 1:01:23and instead was a demonic entity intent
- 1:01:27on siphoning the life force from the children he had
- 1:01:29kidnapped to achieve his full power in this world away
- 1:01:33from the hell where he came from.
- 1:01:35See, I knew you weren't McGriddle.
- 1:01:38Fine, I'm not McGriddle.
- 1:01:40I am the demon Raku.
- 1:01:42And I will be set free in this realm.
- 1:01:47I prefer you work.
- 1:01:49No.
- 1:01:50My bad.
- 1:01:51All right, see you.
- 1:01:52I'll just go.
- 1:01:53He jumps forward.
- 1:01:54I'm going to say that you were probably in front of Raku.
- 1:01:57So he aims for you.
- 1:01:58That's definitely going to hit with his punch.
- 1:02:01And that is an eight damage.
- 1:02:03And as he slams into with his fist,
- 1:02:06he leaps backwards and disappears once again.
- 1:02:11We got a seven hour episode for you today, folks.
- 1:02:15We jump over to Fatty Lumpkin's.
- 1:02:17Your friend is uncrouched.
- 1:02:20Uncrouched.
- 1:02:20Uncrouched against-- there's a wall to the staircase, right?
- 1:02:23Yeah.
- 1:02:23So he's like on the stairs, crouched, leaning against the wall.
- 1:02:27He's shakily holding his bow out.
- 1:02:30And hyperventilating.
- 1:02:31Yeah, hyperventilating.
- 1:02:32And she's very much here.
- 1:02:33Yes.
- 1:02:34Unbeknownst to him, this wasn't the material realm
- 1:02:37he was hoping to end up in and was instead just a little pocket
- 1:02:41dimension inside of, well, my pocket.
- 1:02:44It was a close battle and took every ounce of power and teamwork
- 1:02:48they could muster to overcome the demon Raku.
- 1:02:52But by the end, a lifeless puppet was all that remained.
- 1:02:55Now, rescuing an entire neighborhood worth of children
- 1:02:58is certainly a noble achievement for sure.
- 1:03:00But unfortunately, our gang of criminals were just that.
- 1:03:05And they left some loose ends behind in that fateful alleyway.
- 1:03:11[MUSIC PLAYING]
- 1:03:14As you guys approach Lil Sauce's house, something seems off.
- 1:03:18Oh, no.
- 1:03:19The area seems oddly quiet.
- 1:03:21Doesn't seem a little off to you.
- 1:03:23Well, maybe wouldn't, because you're not from here.
- 1:03:24Yeah, that's true.
- 1:03:25I should have specified that.
- 1:03:26It seems off to you.
- 1:03:27I mean, actually, honestly, I would
- 1:03:29say that even these guys having spent the night in this area,
- 1:03:32like just it feels eerie.
- 1:03:34Like whatever passive perception you guys have
- 1:03:37is enough to spark that something seems off here.
- 1:03:40Something seems wrong.
- 1:03:41Yeah.
- 1:03:44Almost the entire SWAT team worth of guards
- 1:03:47start flooding out from the various alleyways.
- 1:03:51And one of them rushes over and grabs Feather McGregor
- 1:03:57and starts to push you down onto the ground.
- 1:04:00Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:04:01I got rights.
- 1:04:02I got rights.
- 1:04:02He says, Feather McGregor, you are under arrest.
- 1:04:06You have the right to remain silent.
- 1:04:08Anything you say can and will be used against you
- 1:04:12in the court of law.
- 1:04:13Little sauce, we are arresting you for five counts
- 1:04:16of felony murder, one count of first degree armed robbery,
- 1:04:19one count of first degree theft, and one count of trespassing.
- 1:04:24Don't forget arson.
- 1:04:25Well, nothing.
- 1:04:27If you guys know what's good for you,
- 1:04:28you better get out of here.
- 1:04:29This is all misunderstanding.
- 1:04:31As they load you into the police cart,
- 1:04:34in the background, you can see them leading away
- 1:04:37the horse and cart that you guys stole from the Pendleton
- 1:04:42estate, which, as far as you guys had told me,
- 1:04:45was parked at Feather McGregor's house.
- 1:04:48Wait, why?
- 1:04:49Oh, that's where we left it.
- 1:04:51Oh, that's funny.
- 1:04:52I'm just going to wave bye-bye and say,
- 1:04:54better than us, right?
- 1:04:56Yeah, they all-- they haul him in,
- 1:04:58and then all of them start to head out to head back
- 1:05:01to the precinct.
- 1:05:02Guys, I think we're going to need
- 1:05:04to find a new NPC companion.
- 1:05:07Luckily for the rest of the gang,
- 1:05:23only sauce had charges placed against him.
- 1:05:26But being the nice bunch of murderers and thieves
- 1:05:29that they are, they chose not to let their friend rot
- 1:05:32in jail for the rest of his life,
- 1:05:34and instead forged some fake lawyer licenses
- 1:05:37and took it upon themselves to represent him
- 1:05:40in the court of law.
- 1:05:41Even I popped in to give my two cents
- 1:05:44on how he could save himself.
- 1:05:47All right, what have they got you for, McGregor?
- 1:05:50Fine counts of murder.
- 1:05:51That's it?
- 1:05:52This case is going to be the easiest case yet in my career.
- 1:05:56And if we happen to make complete fools of ourselves,
- 1:05:58your bail is only 500 gold pieces.
- 1:06:01Oh, that's it?
- 1:06:02Just to clarify, but bail doesn't mean
- 1:06:04you're just like Scott free.
- 1:06:06No, that's 100% what it doesn't mean.
- 1:06:08Yeah, I was going to say, because when you said that there,
- 1:06:11you had me worried.
- 1:06:12That's like, your bail is only 500 bucks.
- 1:06:14We'll get you out of here no big deal.
- 1:06:15And I'm like, wait, hold on.
- 1:06:17Hey, you guys got the rock on you?
- 1:06:19Here it is, right in my pocket.
- 1:06:21All right, so I shake it.
- 1:06:22Hello, Philip McGregor.
- 1:06:24Are you about to ask me if banks in this world are insured?
- 1:06:29No.
- 1:06:30What's the best defense to use that will get me out of this?
- 1:06:33Usually I say, deny, deny, deny.
- 1:06:36What you know will get me out of this.
- 1:06:38All right, here's the best defense.
- 1:06:41When all else fails, plead the 28th.
- 1:06:48Doing the crime is easy enough.
- 1:06:50It's avoiding the time that requires hard work, fake evidence,
- 1:06:54false witnesses, and whatever other underhanded tactics
- 1:06:57one can muster.
- 1:06:59These alleged criminal masterminds
- 1:07:01started by spying on the prosecution.
- 1:07:04OK, you learn three elements that the prosecutor is
- 1:07:08planning on using against you.
- 1:07:11As you hear the prosecution discussing with his assistant,
- 1:07:17he says, all right, all right, all right,
- 1:07:20we've got a few different directions
- 1:07:24that I want to go with.
- 1:07:26First of all, we're going to bring in the horses.
- 1:07:31We're going to call the horses to the witness stand.
- 1:07:34And I'm sure their testimony is going
- 1:07:36to be brilliant for that.
- 1:07:40So make sure you guys have them well fed, ready to go.
- 1:07:44For the trial, we've got, I think, four different horses.
- 1:07:49So make sure they're all taken care of.
- 1:07:52Let's see.
- 1:07:53The second thing that we want to use in this case
- 1:07:59is obviously the carriage as evidence.
- 1:08:04I think it's a pretty big one.
- 1:08:05That's a pretty big one that we're
- 1:08:06going to be able to slam him on.
- 1:08:08I've got a spot.
- 1:08:09A friend of mine runs Steamway Carriages, Inc.
- 1:08:12headquarters over at their headquarters.
- 1:08:14They said they'd make a space for the carriage,
- 1:08:16keep it safe there.
- 1:08:18So that shouldn't be any kind of a problem.
- 1:08:20Let's see.
- 1:08:20What else is on the docket for getting ready for this?
- 1:08:25Oh, do you have everybody--
- 1:08:29do we have record that everybody's still in the morgue
- 1:08:32and their bodies are preserved and assistant nuns and confirms?
- 1:08:38And he goes, perfect, perfect.
- 1:08:39That's going to be important as well.
- 1:08:42And that's what you guys hear before he dismisses the assistant
- 1:08:46and starts just kind of scribbling and writing.
- 1:08:48What was that last thing?
- 1:08:50He asked if all the bodies were preserved at the morgue.
- 1:08:54Got it.
- 1:08:55So if we knew a couple magicians,
- 1:08:57they could tamper with the climate controls in the morgue
- 1:09:01and speed the decomposition process or just behead them.
- 1:09:07One need to be a chemistry could just
- 1:09:09slice off the head then they got nothing to identify.
- 1:09:12If you slice off the head, you can't talk to them anymore.
- 1:09:15They're dead?
- 1:09:16They're dead.
- 1:09:17I don't think that's--
- 1:09:18I don't think that spell works anymore.
- 1:09:20Oh, I didn't know that existed.
- 1:09:22That clerics and wizards can cast.
- 1:09:24I think they need to have their head still attached.
- 1:09:26Or at least the head if we just take the heads
- 1:09:29and just ditch them in some river or something.
- 1:09:32Or feed them to a dog.
- 1:09:34Feed them to the horses.
- 1:09:36The group now knew the three primary areas to focus on.
- 1:09:39One, stopping the horses from getting testimony.
- 1:09:43Two, dealing with the stolen carriage that
- 1:09:46was found at Little Sauce's house.
- 1:09:48And three, finding some way to ensure
- 1:09:51that the corpses they left behind in the alley couldn't speak.
- 1:09:55But of course, knowledge only gets you so far.
- 1:09:58Now they needed to act on their information.
- 1:10:01Des went off to Steamway Carriages
- 1:10:03to try to ruin the deceased Pendleton's wagon.
- 1:10:06I'm going to walk up to the door to the nicer office area.
- 1:10:13And I would like to step in and act like I'm waiting for help.
- 1:10:19And then I'm going to reach into my bag of tricks.
- 1:10:24And I'm going to roll one of the fluffy balls out
- 1:10:28of the bag of tricks into the middle of the office.
- 1:10:31Discreetly.
- 1:10:32OK.
- 1:10:33What are you rolling it?
- 1:10:34It's a black bear.
- 1:10:35Holy--
- 1:10:36[LAUGHTER]
- 1:10:38All right, you roll this bag in.
- 1:10:40And then all of a sudden, you just hear [ROARING]
- 1:10:44as heavy footsteps start to fall and make their way throughout.
- 1:10:48And you hear someone shout, excuse me, is somebody here?
- 1:10:52And then, oh, a pair.
- 1:10:55Oh, dear.
- 1:10:58And you hear a door slam.
- 1:11:00All right, I will run to the garage.
- 1:11:02And I will frantically--
- 1:11:03I'm waving my hands up.
- 1:11:05And then in front of you is a dwarven female.
- 1:11:08OK.
- 1:11:09And she's got coveralls on.
- 1:11:11Yep.
- 1:11:11And she's got a big old wrench in her hand.
- 1:11:13And she's got some soot or some kind of grease on her face.
- 1:11:17And she's like, I don't know what you're trying to say there,
- 1:11:19Phillip.
- 1:11:20If something's wrong, you got to tell us.
- 1:11:22Because you look darn frantic.
- 1:11:24I really wish I had a fire lantern.
- 1:11:27Oh, I guess I had bullseye lanterns, don't I?
- 1:11:29Is there oil on the floor of this garage type place?
- 1:11:34Yeah, I'd say so.
- 1:11:35I'm going to don a terrified face
- 1:11:38and just point behind her.
- 1:11:40OK, yeah, she looks back.
- 1:11:41What do you mean something's back there?
- 1:11:43Kind of out of my robe of useful items,
- 1:11:45throw down a bullseye lantern just on the floor.
- 1:11:49They are filled and lit is how it was described.
- 1:11:52You throw this down and it immediately
- 1:11:54ignites some of the fluids on the ground.
- 1:11:56And at this point, the guy underneath the car
- 1:11:58is freaking out.
- 1:11:59He's like, why am I smelling fire?
- 1:12:01Why am I smelling fire?
- 1:12:02I smell fire.
- 1:12:03What's going on out there?
- 1:12:05Meanwhile, Maki, Keto, and Little Sauce
- 1:12:08went to the morgue to see what they could do about the bodies.
- 1:12:12As we are the lawyers, going to see the witnesses,
- 1:12:15them being the dead corpses.
- 1:12:17At least step one, sneak into the hospital
- 1:12:21or just go into the hospital.
- 1:12:23Step two, light the room on fire.
- 1:12:26Find some hospital uniforms.
- 1:12:29Ah, scrubs.
- 1:12:31Yeah, we could be janitors, yeah.
- 1:12:33Step three, wait for the morgue people to go to lunch.
- 1:12:38Question mark, do they eat?
- 1:12:41Question mark.
- 1:12:43Step four, profit.
- 1:12:44Now we sneak in there, unseen like, and take care of the bodies.
- 1:12:53Yeah, I don't see any reason to over complicate this.
- 1:12:57Just wait for our opening and then take it.
- 1:13:00And if there is no opening, make it.
- 1:13:02What do you got?
- 1:13:03Let's just go.
- 1:13:03All right.
- 1:13:04Yeah, you go into the hospital.
- 1:13:05There's like a front desk reception area.
- 1:13:08Thanks to a little magical knowledge from Maki,
- 1:13:11they knew just how to ensure the bodies couldn't talk.
- 1:13:14Let's cut the heads off and throw them in the furnace
- 1:13:16or the whole body.
- 1:13:18Just make them disappear.
- 1:13:19I do know that is a bit of a process to burn the body.
- 1:13:22It's not like you just throw it in, you're like, boom, it's gone.
- 1:13:24It has to burn for a while.
- 1:13:26And then also the fact of getting it--
- 1:13:28I mean, it's a whole body you got to drag over there.
- 1:13:30Let's cut the drawers off.
- 1:13:31Let's say there's five bodies on this half,
- 1:13:32five bodies on the other half.
- 1:13:34Oh, just take every jaw.
- 1:13:35Just take every jaw from the entire--
- 1:13:37It can't be that hard.
- 1:13:38You just--
- 1:13:38We'll do three at a time.
- 1:13:39We all know who we're looking for.
- 1:13:40OK, so you each run to a body.
- 1:13:42Do just an attack roll.
- 1:13:4323.
- 1:13:4423.
- 1:13:45Holy crap.
- 1:13:46How much damage did you take to cut a head off?
- 1:13:47It's just the jaw.
- 1:13:48You guys keep saying cut the head off.
- 1:13:49OK, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:13:50If you say cut the head off, I mean, you need the heads here.
- 1:13:52I'm going to have heads show up to the quarter.
- 1:13:55We have gone through this 100 times.
- 1:13:56If the mouth is not destroyed--
- 1:13:57The mouth is not destroyed.
- 1:13:58It's not what I meant.
- 1:14:00OK.
- 1:14:01I would get a big kick out of that.
- 1:14:02Why, just like--
- 1:14:03Bring the head.
- 1:14:03The lawyer comes in.
- 1:14:04He's like, I just want to apologize for their appearance,
- 1:14:06but it is necessary for this trial.
- 1:14:09Plops her head down.
- 1:14:10And Rorik, my old friend, went off to the Penitent Stables
- 1:14:14to find a way to keep the horses from being
- 1:14:17able to give their testimony.
- 1:14:19All things considered, the gang had a pretty good plan
- 1:14:21in place when they arrived at the trial of Little Sauce.
- 1:14:25Although the prosecution still had some tricks up their sleeve
- 1:14:29as well.
- 1:14:30Yo, I would like to use the cross examination Article 3.
- 1:14:35Yes.
- 1:14:36All right.
- 1:14:37He turns to the back of the room where the doors are,
- 1:14:40and he gives it a nod.
- 1:14:41And one of the guards over there, he opens up the door,
- 1:14:43in steps, and or--
- 1:14:45And he's completely bald.
- 1:14:47He hears kind of one of those swinging incense sensors.
- 1:14:51Like how they use it at churches,
- 1:14:52with incense stuff.
- 1:14:53Exactly.
- 1:14:54Yep.
- 1:14:54And he makes his way down the aisle,
- 1:14:56and he approaches the stand.
- 1:14:58This is Orko the Oracle.
- 1:15:00He serves at the Temple of Light, and he is occasionally
- 1:15:05called in for court trials when necessary.
- 1:15:08Sir Orko, yes, yes.
- 1:15:10Please, prosecution, please at least explain what Mr. Orko
- 1:15:14here is.
- 1:15:14Yes.
- 1:15:15Yes.
- 1:15:16Orko, if you would be so kind as to cast
- 1:15:19a zone of truth over the witness's sand here.
- 1:15:23[GUNSHOT]
- 1:15:26No, Soss, on the other hand, had a very interesting defense
- 1:15:30to this.
- 1:15:30The cart, the jars of semen, and some of the various items
- 1:15:36stolen from Lord Pendleton's house
- 1:15:38were found at your property, correct?
- 1:15:40And that is correct, yes.
- 1:15:41Could you explain to the jury why those items
- 1:15:46were in your house?
- 1:15:48You know, I can't 100% say for fact or certain,
- 1:15:50but I do have speculation.
- 1:15:52I know it's speculation.
- 1:15:53Your Honor, he's about to give speculation.
- 1:15:55He just admitted to it.
- 1:15:56Oh, yeah, I would like to--
- 1:15:58[GUNSHOT]
- 1:15:59Well, I didn't do it then.
- 1:16:00I guess I just won't tell you what I think.
- 1:16:02I didn't do it.
- 1:16:03I mean, that's pretty much it.
- 1:16:04I didn't do it.
- 1:16:05Were you at any point at the Pendleton estate?
- 1:16:08No.
- 1:16:09Interesting.
- 1:16:10I would like to put into evidence these feathers
- 1:16:14from the crashed carriage.
- 1:16:16And he slides a bag of feathers.
- 1:16:19In fact, we can test these right here and now.
- 1:16:21Argo, would you please cast the Locate Object spell
- 1:16:25to find the origination of these feathers?
- 1:16:29By this time, all the evidence had been presented,
- 1:16:33and the jury had reached a verdict.
- 1:16:35I'll admit, even I, from the outside of this pocket
- 1:16:38dimension, dropped everything I was doing
- 1:16:40to see what was in store for our feathery friend.
- 1:16:44I shall now read the findings of the jury.
- 1:16:47On the first count of feathery murder, not guilty,
- 1:16:51second count, not guilty, third count, not guilty,
- 1:16:58fourth count, not guilty, and fifth count, also not guilty.
- 1:17:06On the first count of first degree of robbery, not guilty,
- 1:17:11on the first count of first degree theft, guilty.
- 1:17:15Watch.
- 1:17:16[LAUGHTER]
- 1:17:19I'm putting the handle on his shoulder.
- 1:17:21[LAUGHTER]
- 1:17:24And on the count of trespassing, you have been found guilty.
- 1:17:28Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:17:29[LAUGHTER]
- 1:17:32Now, sir, while you have not been found guilty of any
- 1:17:35of the feathery murders, obviously,
- 1:17:36the count's punishments is out of the question.
- 1:17:39Sorry, Bruce.
- 1:17:40You see, on--
- 1:17:41The judge wiped a tear from his eye.
- 1:17:43Like, if he left, also it's really bummed out.
- 1:17:45So however, you must still be sentenced for first degree theft
- 1:17:49and trespassing.
- 1:17:50So for the first degree trespassing,
- 1:17:52yet, there is a sentence of three days community service.
- 1:17:55And for first count, first degree theft of horse semen,
- 1:17:59which need I remind you, I need not remind you,
- 1:18:01takes high praise in this community.
- 1:18:04That is seven years in the county jail.
- 1:18:08[LAUGHTER]
- 1:18:09Seven years in the state jail.
- 1:18:11No.
- 1:18:12Well.
- 1:18:13So three days community service in seven years--
- 1:18:16Oh.
- 1:18:17Man, I can't believe you got community service.
- 1:18:20[LAUGHTER]
- 1:18:22Oh, seven years.
- 1:18:25That was going to put a significant stint in the game's goal
- 1:18:28of one million gold.
- 1:18:29And their guide to this world wasn't really transferable.
- 1:18:34I was chuckling to myself, thinking about how they may have
- 1:18:37just received the final nail in their coffin.
- 1:18:40When Sauce did something that surprised even me.
- 1:18:44Well, have I got a surprise for you?
- 1:18:47What is the surprise?
- 1:18:48I-- a little sauce, a feather, a McGregor.
- 1:18:54Pleads a 28.
- 1:18:55[GASP]
- 1:18:58Do you understand the ramifications of bleeding 28, Mr. Sauce?
- 1:19:02Everyone in the room was just absolutely astounded and shot.
- 1:19:08Uh, no.
- 1:19:09But I'm going to do it anyways.
- 1:19:11Can you explain it to me?
- 1:19:12Well, uh, very well, uh, the 28th is trial by combats.
- 1:19:17[LAUGHTER]
- 1:19:19Well, it's nice to see him taking my advice after all.
- 1:19:22Now it was just a matter of seeing if he could survive the incoming
- 1:19:25fight he was going to have to be put up against.
- 1:19:28He did have a little bit of safety net, though.
- 1:19:31You see, they hadn't spent much of their gold that they'd
- 1:19:34earned up until this point through their various endeavors,
- 1:19:38such as the theft of the Pendleton State and so on and so forth.
- 1:19:42And they still had a unique opportunity I gave them to help
- 1:19:46them grow a bit stronger, something I referred to as my level up arcade.
- 1:19:52Oh, you would like to level up?
- 1:19:54Yeah.
- 1:19:55Oh, and then--
- 1:19:56[EXPLOSION]
- 1:19:57All of a sudden, everything around you just suddenly disappears,
- 1:20:01and you find yourself suddenly surrounded by bright flashing
- 1:20:05lights in every direction.
- 1:20:06Are we all here?
- 1:20:07Yeah, all of you.
- 1:20:08Like the Matrix.
- 1:20:09It's like not like the Matrix at all.
- 1:20:11It's exactly like the Matrix.
- 1:20:13That's what the Matrix would say.
- 1:20:15[LAUGHTER]
- 1:20:16It's like the training room in the Matrix, which is a blank white room.
- 1:20:22No, it's not like that at all.
- 1:20:24It is--
- 1:20:25Yeah, the blank room that SpongeBob and Patrick take
- 1:20:27when they break the time machine.
- 1:20:28Yeah.
- 1:20:29Yeah, exactly.
- 1:20:30No, it's not like that at all.
- 1:20:31Oh, no.
- 1:20:32No, instead.
- 1:20:33Wait, can we keep naming things that's not?
- 1:20:36No, that's exhausting.
- 1:20:38Your characters obviously wouldn't be able to understand this description,
- 1:20:43but all of you understand this description.
- 1:20:45It is like standing in the dead center of a massive arcade.
- 1:20:51Welcome, welcome to George M. Zipp's level up arcade.
- 1:20:57Here, you can buy tokens, which can be used to play one of the various popular arcade games
- 1:21:04and leads you to a specific direction in the leveling up.
- 1:21:09You can get either large or small tokens.
- 1:21:12They correlate to the various prizes you can receive as far as leveling up goes.
- 1:21:18So if you want something really cool, like class abilities--
- 1:21:23This is a little bit meta, but it is what it is.
- 1:21:25Then you might want to get a large token,
- 1:21:28but if you are more interested in skill proficiencies, language,
- 1:21:33capable of speaking of languages, etc.,
- 1:21:36you can just get a small token,
- 1:21:38but you can still play any of the same games with either of these tokens.
- 1:21:42It's just what prize you're hoping to gain.
- 1:21:45It's like big prizes or regular prizes.
- 1:21:49Gambling takes many forms, trust me, I should know.
- 1:21:53And although the Divine Casino is one of my most popular attractions among the other gods,
- 1:21:58I wanted to create something a little more accessible for the mortals.
- 1:22:03So with a bit of boost in power,
- 1:22:05Sos was ready to take on his punishment.
- 1:22:07But not before a familiar voice called out from him from amidst the crowd,
- 1:22:11as he was led to the Colosseum.
- 1:22:14And amidst the crowd, little Sos, you do recognize one particular figure
- 1:22:19who seems to be waving and trying to get your attention.
- 1:22:22And it is the Chief from Blank Space.
- 1:22:26And he's kind of pushing his way through the crowd to get up close to the front.
- 1:22:30You've got reporters in your face that are sticking these sort of like magical wand sticks up to you
- 1:22:36that have recording capabilities.
- 1:22:39These are all things that you're aware of.
- 1:22:41They're trying to ask you questions.
- 1:22:43Sir, sir, did you successfully get away with murdering an individual today?
- 1:22:49No.
- 1:22:52No, you didn't get away with it?
- 1:22:54Yes.
- 1:22:55Yes, you did it?
- 1:22:57No.
- 1:22:58Sir, how many of the five murder charges were you successfully able to commit
- 1:23:03and therefore get away with today?
- 1:23:06No.
- 1:23:07Questions like this are obviously flooding in.
- 1:23:09You're confused until eventually the Chief manages to push his way to the front
- 1:23:13and he says, "A feather! A feather!
- 1:23:17I've got to talk to your feather!"
- 1:23:20It's important.
- 1:23:21I know you're in a bit of a situation right now,
- 1:23:24but I need to speak with you at your earliest convenience.
- 1:23:28Well, here it is right now. It's the earliest.
- 1:23:30No, I can't tell you in front of all these people.
- 1:23:33I need you to come to my office as quickly as possible.
- 1:23:36I'm probably going to die, so...
- 1:23:37You'll be fine. I'm sure you'll be fine.
- 1:23:40I really want out of this life.
- 1:23:43Okay, D.B. takes pause at this one.
- 1:23:47What?
- 1:23:48I just want out of this life. I've been in new life.
- 1:23:52What life? What are you talking about, feather?
- 1:23:56I've just got a new path on life and I just...
- 1:23:58After this is over, if I survive, I just want out. I just want out.
- 1:24:03Look, feather, I don't know how else to say this,
- 1:24:07but this is way bigger than anything.
- 1:24:11In fact, it might affect this entire world.
- 1:24:15I need to speak with you. Look, everything is connected.
- 1:24:19That's all I can say. Everything is connected.
- 1:24:22Just promise me. Promise me.
- 1:24:24When you make it out of this fight, just stop by my office.
- 1:24:28Just for a quick chat.
- 1:24:29Do something to help me in this fight and I'll come stop by.
- 1:24:33All right, I can do that.
- 1:24:35Okay, deal.
- 1:24:36All right.
- 1:24:37A strange plea indeed from Sars's former boss.
- 1:24:42But I promise you, it's going to be important later on.
- 1:24:45For now, let's follow Sars into the Colosseum and see what happens.
- 1:24:50As the gate across from you is pulled up,
- 1:24:54you hear a loud...
- 1:24:58As if something kind of exhaled outwards.
- 1:25:01The gate starts to rise.
- 1:25:03The ground starts to shake as two massive legs
- 1:25:08step out from amidst the gate and the head pops out,
- 1:25:14covered in scales as the announcer shouts out,
- 1:25:18"The Allosaurus!"
- 1:25:22And all the people start to cheer and scream.
- 1:25:25The Allosaurus starts to lift its head and it lets out a huge roar.
- 1:25:32And again, the crowd starts to go nuts.
- 1:25:36They're so excited for this fight.
- 1:25:38But before it can happen, I need you to roll initiative.
- 1:25:43Nat 20.
- 1:25:47Now, while Sars is desperately fighting for his life,
- 1:25:51avoiding the jaws of the Allosaurus,
- 1:25:53his comrades are placing bets and enjoying food and drink from the stands.
- 1:25:57Amidst all of their fun though,
- 1:25:59Keto takes the opportunity to seek out an item he's had on his wish list for quite some time.
- 1:26:05Keto turns to his comrades and says, "I've seen enough."
- 1:26:08And he leaves and goes to the main concourse.
- 1:26:11"You just leave me!"
- 1:26:13"I can't watch this thing. I can't watch this thing."
- 1:26:15"Alright, you start to..."
- 1:26:17"Yeah, you start..."
- 1:26:18"No one's gonna stab you from leaving."
- 1:26:19But while they're, he's then going to turn his attention to the crowd
- 1:26:22of those shuffling around to the gift shops
- 1:26:24and those, and he's gonna see if he can find someone with a big, dark cloak.
- 1:26:28"Oh, interesting."
- 1:26:29"Okay, I'm thinking Jedi, though."
- 1:26:31"Just a very concealing cloak. Does he see anyone?"
- 1:26:34"You see a person wearing a big, dark cloak."
- 1:26:41"There you go."
- 1:26:42"Yeah, okay. I've bet it's a look approachable."
- 1:26:44"Uh, they are..."
- 1:26:48"Sending?"
- 1:26:49"It is a group of people."
- 1:26:51"Well, you don't know."
- 1:26:52"It's a big... whoever it is is wearing a big, dark cloak."
- 1:26:55"And they are leaned up against the... just kind of a wall, kind of nearby the concession stand."
- 1:27:01"Just based on..."
- 1:27:03"Just chilling."
- 1:27:04"I want to hate myself for using this word."
- 1:27:06"Wait a minute."
- 1:27:07"Just based on the vibes."
- 1:27:08"Wait a minute, wait a minute. Out there."
- 1:27:09"Mmm. Fact check, vibe check."
- 1:27:11"Yes, I know."
- 1:27:12"What do we roll for Vine?"
- 1:27:14"They seem like they are somewhat threatening."
- 1:27:17"This sounds like an insight check. I think that's why a vibe check is an insight check."
- 1:27:22"It's true."
- 1:27:23"It's an insight check."
- 1:27:24"I feel like Fatty just really wanted to roll a dice."
- 1:27:26"I don't care what I do, just as long as it makes me roll a dice."
- 1:27:29"Oh man, I have great insight apparently."
- 1:27:32"24."
- 1:27:33"24? The person seems really chill."
- 1:27:38"Actually, no. The person seems a little bit skittish."
- 1:27:42"You see maybe like a hand or something that's peeking out from the cloak."
- 1:27:46"And it's kind of like jittering a little bit, like almost like a nervous habit."
- 1:27:50"That kind of gives off the idea that the person kind of has..."
- 1:27:52"Maybe their nerves are a little bit on edge and they're not watching the fight."
- 1:27:55"Which means their nerves are not on edge because of whatever's happening there."
- 1:27:59"So based on that..."
- 1:28:00"And it's just one person, there's nothing to get onto Rush?"
- 1:28:03"No, this person seems real solo."
- 1:28:05"Like the other people that are around are explicitly there for concessions."
- 1:28:09"Okay."
- 1:28:10"Kido is gonna go up to this guy and introduce himself."
- 1:28:15"Okay, give me some of that."
- 1:28:16"Uh, sir, I couldn't help but notice that you have a dark cloak and I'm looking to remain relatively nondescript."
- 1:28:26"I would like to blend in with the crowd and that looks to be a very good tool to doing so."
- 1:28:31"Would you be willing to part with that?"
- 1:28:33"The person kind of like turns their head towards you and you see not a man, but a young woman with red hair."
- 1:28:41"And she says, 'What? What? What do you want?'"
- 1:28:45"You want my cloak?"
- 1:28:46"I'm sorry, it's a very odd question, but I just don't feel like sticking out in this crowd."
- 1:28:53"She pauses for a moment and she kind of stares at you for a second, a little bit."
- 1:28:58"It goes from being confused to almost, you can literally see the spark kind of ignite as an idea kind of comes to her mind."
- 1:29:08"And she says, 'Um, by chance, would you have any clothing you'd be willing to trade?'"
- 1:29:14"Undergarment, straight, you're undergarment."
- 1:29:17"Doesn't mean she's offering you a rigor. Like here, I'll give you my underwear for your cloak."
- 1:29:21"Yes, yes, a deal."
- 1:29:24"Panty trade."
- 1:29:26"I'm not offering, uh, is there a specific article of clothing you're looking for?"
- 1:29:31"As long as it fits me."
- 1:29:32"She's a human woman."
- 1:29:34"Um, she's maybe just a little bit taller than you are."
- 1:29:39"Which is kind of saying something, she's fairly short for a human woman because of the fact that she's not that much taller than you are."
- 1:29:45"Because you're a cobalt, which is pretty short."
- 1:29:47"I apparently have common clothes. Do I have an extra tunic?"
- 1:29:52"Oh."
- 1:29:53"Or do I have a lion-eared of tunic that I'm willing to part with one layer for the cloak?"
- 1:29:59"I'd say that your common clothes would come with some sort of a cloak of some kind."
- 1:30:04"Or like a vest."
- 1:30:05"The vest over the tunic."
- 1:30:07"Sure."
- 1:30:08"I'm willing to part with the vest."
- 1:30:09"Okay."
- 1:30:10"Um, as she agrees, she's like, 'Yeah, that'll work.'
- 1:30:14"As she agrees, she takes off the cloak, she hands it to you, and as she does her hair moves, and you notice like a subtle point to her ears."
- 1:30:22"Not a full point like you see in a full elf, but you assume maybe she's a half elf based on how little the point kind of comes up."
- 1:30:30"It's more than a normal human sometimes has, just from ear variation, but it's definitely not as much as a full elf."
- 1:30:36"Just a detail that you notice as she, because you rolled really high on insight, which technically isn't perception, but I digress."
- 1:30:42"She hands you the cloak, and then you hand her this vest, and she puts that on, she has like a backpack, and she reaches in it, she pulls out just a pointed hat, and she puts that over her head."
- 1:30:53"Kiddlebein, content with this transaction is very content to just turn around and walk away."
- 1:31:00"Yeah."
- 1:31:01"Kiddlebein, you will not leave without saying 'thank you' and then that's all the more."
- 1:31:06"Do you turn and then turn back to say 'thank you'? "Yes."
- 1:31:10"She's gone."
- 1:31:11"Okay."
- 1:31:12"She disappeared amidst the crowd, or at least you assume, but you have a dark cloak now."
- 1:31:17"Yes, and he then dawns said dark cloak, and tightens it up, and dawns the hood, and he then walks back to his spot."
- 1:31:25"Okay, sounds good."
- 1:31:26"I know this is an odd detail to highlight, but once again, I assure you, there's a good reason I'm mentioning it."
- 1:31:33[Music]
- 1:31:46Let's jump back to the fight though. Sauce is on the brink of death, and the Allosaurus is still standing.
- 1:31:53It's starting to look like the battle might be too close for comfort when Rorik makes a dangerous decision.
- 1:32:01"Can I just take a shot at the dinosaur at this distance with an arrow?"
- 1:32:06"Yeah, you can try if you want to."
- 1:32:08"Because I saw arrows could go through, right?"
- 1:32:11"Okay, where'd you roll?"
- 1:32:12"18, 18, cool."
- 1:32:14"You roll with disadvantage because it's probably out of range for a short bow and wrestling."
- 1:32:18"18, 18, okay."
- 1:32:20"You shoot an arrow forth, which flies out, and sure enough manages to hit big owl."
- 1:32:27"Roll the damage."
- 1:32:28"Is he adjacent to Quinn?"
- 1:32:30"The big owl?"
- 1:32:31"Yeah."
- 1:32:32"Yeah."
- 1:32:33"The now security's off the drink, all four of these meats, myself."
- 1:32:38"10 damage."
- 1:32:39"All right, the arrow slams into big owl, it hits him right in the neck, and big owl kind of stumbles a little bit from this arrow that hit him just like in just the right spot."
- 1:32:51"With that you hear a whole bunch of the crowd gasp, and then they start to boo, and you see your friend turn and look at you and he goes, 'No, won't you have to go and do that?'"
- 1:33:05"And with that a number of guards start to flood from multiple different spots around and start rushing towards you."
- 1:33:12"Keto's going to distance himself from them."
- 1:33:14"And then we go over to, well we go to Machi, cheering, or we jump over to the Allosaur, which is, it shakes off this impact from the arrow and then goes to bite towards little sauce again."
- 1:33:26"That's a 13 total, which misses once again on your blur, which puts us back to Keto, who is cheering, and then jump back over to little sauce. You see the dinosaurs severely weakened at this point."
- 1:33:43"A magic missile again."
- 1:33:45"Okay, what'd you get?"
- 1:33:46"A-8."
- 1:33:47"You pull back, you hurl for three more bolts of force energy."
- 1:33:55"First one slams into the dinosaur, it steps once back, the second one slams into it again, it takes another step back, and the third one comes, as it's still finishing that second step, slams into it, knocking it off balance and pushing it backwards like in the air as its whole body comes and slams down on the ground behind you and lets out one last...
- 1:34:20[slurping]
- 1:34:22...before it dies.
- 1:34:24"Hey!"
- 1:34:25"But no one in the crowd is doing anything, as a group of guards comes and grabs Rorak and hauls him on."
- 1:34:36"Wonderful, now Rorak is about to go to jail, we're back where we started all once again."
- 1:34:41"Or are we?"
- 1:34:43"As the goblin gets dragged off to the Colosseum Lockup, something truly unexpected happens."
- 1:34:50"I'm getting arrested?"
- 1:34:51"Yeah, as you're getting taken away by the guards, all of a sudden the rest of you watching, a huge explosion erupts from the side of the Colosseum, shaking the entire area."
- 1:35:05"Everybody in the stands is panicking, freaking out, the people that were over in that section, who knows, they could be dead, you don't know, a bunch of rubble and who knows what kind of came flying out."
- 1:35:15"From a midst that, you also see what looks like a couple of, a handful of different creatures that were being stored in the back areas of the Colosseum."
- 1:35:25"Go flying out, running out, whatever the case, the magical, you actually see like a glimmer sort of fade away as the magical barrier that was keeping anybody from casting any kind of magic into the fight dissipates."
- 1:35:38"And some of these creatures actually run out of the Colosseum area, up the side and out into the city."
- 1:35:46Now, remember how I said that strange elf lady that Kido swapped outfits with earlier during the fight was an important detail that we'd see later on?
- 1:35:56"Well, once the panic of the explosion died down and the group went to the cells of the Colosseum where Rorak was being held, the owner of the facility revealed she very well might be the one who planted the bombs in the first place."
- 1:36:09"Outside the cell, there's a man with a big mustache and a bit of a top hat and he's also standing there and his face is beat red to the point where you almost wonder if he is a tiefling he's so red."
- 1:36:23"Absolutely furious."
- 1:36:25"Sir, we brought you the guy that, remember how I was saying that I saw somebody in a dark cloak screwing around in the behind the scenes areas that I was pretty sure might have planted the explosives, sir?"
- 1:36:38"That's right, is that him?"
- 1:36:39"Yep, this is the cloak I saw."
- 1:36:41"You must not know who I am. I'm Hal Hippodrome, owner of the island new miss Hippodrome and you, sir, are a suspicious character who may not have only cost me money in the bets, but we are reasoning to believe you just blew a dang hole in the dang Hippodrome."
- 1:37:02"So our intrepid adventurers, these strangers in a strange land, now find themselves working for a new client, Hal Hippodrome of the island new miss Hippodrome who demands recompense for Rorick's interference in the fight which costs him thousands of gold.
- 1:37:19To repay this debt, the team will need to hunt down three major monsters that managed to escape during the explosion. The Shadow Hag, a terrifying witch-like creature capable of taming the magic hidden within the darkness. You know, thinking back, I may have been responsible for trapping her in island new miss in the first place.
- 1:37:38The Mitocisaurus, which was a strange magical experiment gone horribly wrong. And finally, King Fortunus, the product of a drug known as "Burst" and more commonly referred to in these days and times as "spinach" by the local miscreants and questionable characters residing within the underbelly of my creation.
- 1:38:01This "king" as he refers to himself, nearly took the title to the max about a decade back when he went on an unstoppable rampage through the Atlantic Heights district. If it were me, I'd have put him down on the spot.
- 1:38:16But old Hell Hippodrome's deep pockets ensured Fortunus was captured alive instead and stored in an incredibly sturdy cell so he could bring him out during fights. And that's where this arachakra has been ever since.
- 1:38:32Until the recent explosions blasted the door right off his prison and set him free to return to his gang of musclebound beasts hidden away in their headquarters known as the Gridiron.
- 1:38:44Now, the chief of the blank space, Sos's ex-boss, remember we heard from him earlier, he upkept his end of the deal and he made sure that Sos didn't die during the fight against the Allosaurus.
- 1:38:54So Sos decided to do the right thing and returned to the precinct office to see what the chief was so on about. This is a point where the party gets split up a little bit so you'll be hearing two different sides of the story moving forward.
- 1:39:08With that being said, nothing could probably have prepared any of us for what Lil Sos found when he arrived at what would soon be the ex-base of blank space.
- 1:39:21Lil Sos, you head over to where you know blank space headquarters is located at and as you approach the door that you normally would go through, which looks like just a typical store entrance, right? It's just a normal place.
- 1:39:36It's meant to look, you know, just like your average spot. It's like in spy movies where they have to go through the dry cleaners but it's secretly, you know, the entrance to their base, they have to like walk into a weird specific rack of clothing.
- 1:39:48It's kind of like that, right? The thing that throws you off though is the fact that normally, and we established this last time that you went there, but there was that guy that wore like a poncho and a sombrero basically and he sits outside of the store and he's a member of blank space, right?
- 1:40:06He's like a guard basically. He's there to make sure that people who go in are people that are supposed to go in and people that don't belong there are not part of blank space.
- 1:40:15They still go in there or at least they don't see the headquarters, right? You see he's not there. And in fact, the chair that he normally sits on, he kind of leaned up against the building and stuff like that.
- 1:40:26It looks like he's just napping all the time is falling over on the ground sideways.
- 1:40:31That's against protocol.
- 1:40:33That is against protocol.
- 1:40:35That's actually really bad. So I'm going to proceed in with cause.
- 1:40:37OK, you walk inside and you carefully peek your head in. And what you see before you is a mess.
- 1:40:48The whole place has been turned over. Chairs have been flipped. Papers are scattered all over the room. And worse yet, individuals that you knew from blank space are scattered across the floor.
- 1:41:02In pieces?
- 1:41:04Some in pieces.
- 1:41:05That's not good.
- 1:41:06Some with just blood oozing out of them. All of them are dead. And that's like the opposite of good.
- 1:41:15That is the opposite of good. What do you do?
- 1:41:17I'm going to proceed. I'm going to check to make sure if see if there's anybody alive still. They're all dead.
- 1:41:23Yeah. In fact, you check some of the bodies and you can tell that they've been alive or sorry, dead for about the last maybe 10 minutes or so.
- 1:41:32Yeah, I'm just going to proceed cautiously.
- 1:41:35Kind of roll perception.
- 1:41:37Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:41:3819.
- 1:41:3919? Oh, cow.
- 1:41:40So yeah, you see everything in front of you. You see papers scattered everywhere.
- 1:41:44But what you notice most of all is that these papers aren't just scattered. They're torn up. They're burned.
- 1:41:50A lot of stuff is burned. In fact, you notice a lot of burn spots throughout.
- 1:41:53You also notice chunks of space that have a burn like remainder on them, but it almost looks like things had been exploded outwards from that spot.
- 1:42:05And you see a number of those situations kind of scattered all over. You see bits of like the chair that was over here.
- 1:42:12You see bits of it have been thrown like all the way across the room or blown all the way across the room or whatever the case to suggest that somebody brought some kind of like high explosives in here or something like that.
- 1:42:22You see various bolts like from a crossbow or something along those lines shot into the wall.
- 1:42:30And then of course, a number of the people that are dead on the ground also have bolts inside of them as well.
- 1:42:36And then the last thing that you notice is the chief's office all the way at the far end of the room.
- 1:42:43The walls have been ripped off or blown off. It's got burn spots all across wherever the wall and wherever whatever's left of the wall still remains attached.
- 1:42:53And you can see behind the thrown over desk, you can see the chief.
- 1:42:58And as you're looking, you see that he's still moving ever so slightly.
- 1:43:03But he's he's like laid up against a wall. There's a lot of red coming off of the shirt.
- 1:43:09But you can see just the slightest amount of movement as if he's still maybe breathing a little bit.
- 1:43:15Now I'm going to go to a chief. What happened, boss?
- 1:43:18And he he looks over at you and he's got he's got blood pouring out of his mouth and he costs.
- 1:43:23Oh, thank God, it's your life.
- 1:43:27Feather, you gotta you gotta do something about this. You don't understand. It's it's so much bigger. It's bigger than Plague Space.
- 1:43:38It might even be bigger than Isla Numus. It's bad, Feather. It's bad.
- 1:43:44What's bad? What's bad? Tell me. You got to tell me before you die.
- 1:43:47It's all connected. Feather, you got it. You got to put all the pieces together.
- 1:43:54I don't have enough time to give you the full rundown, but give me some names. Give me some numbers.
- 1:43:59It's all all connected. The the grave robbers, euphoria and the allegionnaires and so many more.
- 1:44:09They're all they're all connected. Look, Feather, you got to watch out for the allegionnaires.
- 1:44:14They're they're the most powerful of all, or at least as far as I got. I only got so far, Feather.
- 1:44:20I tried to put it all together and they found out. But start with start with the grave robbers.
- 1:44:28And he cost to grave robbers. Legionnaires, euphoria. What does this mean? Where are they? Who are they?
- 1:44:36You find out for that. You'll find out. And I know you you do good. Because you you're just like McGriddle.
- 1:44:45You you know what's right and you'll keep this city safe.
- 1:44:52And with that, he lets out one more breath and he closes his eyes.
- 1:45:00And he dies.
- 1:45:05Oof, poor Sass. Now everyone he was close to is dead, leaving him trapped in his world with a bunch of crazy criminals.
- 1:45:14Who in Ila Numis could possibly have had the power to take down the entire blank space corporation?
- 1:45:21Sass was certainly on the way to find out. And he was going to start with these grave robbers that the chief had mentioned with his dying breath.
- 1:45:30Using an underworld connection, he was able to get the first clues on his med at Mystery.
- 1:45:37I've thrown a little bonus since you got me an extra sausage roll. And I love these things.
- 1:45:42But there's a guy that's been going around hiring up all of as many scroungers as willing to take the job to go dig up bones in any and all graveyards.
- 1:45:52That's all I know. And so Twitch and Bungus, they heard about this. They need the money.
- 1:45:57Yeah, that's uh, I mean, yeah, that's that's what I know. Twitch and Bungus tonight, North and Escarty and Cemetery.
- 1:46:03They know more, obviously, because they're directly involved in it. I'm not going to go out digging. Look at these, look at these arms.
- 1:46:10I can't dig with these arms, okay? That's not what I'm, that's not what I do.
- 1:46:14No, I know, I know. I appreciate your time. You've been a real, you know, I dare say friend.
- 1:46:22Wow, you okay? I don't know why I care, but this is weird.
- 1:46:28Oh, you got two, I mean, that's two sausage rolls, Bill's trust man.
- 1:46:32While Little Sauce followed his lead to find the Grey Robbers and who was financing them, the rest of the gang discovered the mitosis horrors in the Blood Ball Stadium, fought it and captured it.
- 1:46:43You'd think they'd take it back to the Coliseum and mark one monster off Rorick's list so that he could become one step closer to freedom.
- 1:46:50Instead, they found what they believed to be a more fiscally responsible choice.
- 1:46:56Selling it to an old friend they had met back before the Minotaur races.
- 1:47:01All of a sudden you hear a voice next to you and he says, "Well, I don't know about that, but I'd pay you if you could kill it and let me have it."
- 1:47:11And you look next to you and stand-
- 1:47:14Dennis Quaid!
- 1:47:16No, standing next to you is a familiar face to you specifically.
- 1:47:25It is a tiefling in a long black trench coat and you recognize him from the cafe that you went and got coffee at before you guys did the Minotaur race.
- 1:47:38And he asked you about who was I with when I did that.
- 1:47:41I want to say...
- 1:47:44It was us two. Yeah, it was Dennis. Yes, yes.
- 1:47:46So you two recognize him?
- 1:47:49Oh yeah, because I talked to him the whole time and Dennis just stared at him.
- 1:47:52Yeah, it does. It's a good thing.
- 1:47:54But he was asking you about, I don't know, you had a book about horses.
- 1:47:57Yes, yes, I remember this guy now. Yes.
- 1:48:00I wish people would stop being ableist towards this.
- 1:48:03Just because he's a view.
- 1:48:05I can't believe you're talking to me again and not my friend.
- 1:48:09And Dennis gives him the finger, like the two fingers and then points at his eyes like, "Stare me in my eyes!"
- 1:48:15He looks you in your eyes with a saucy gaze and we kiss.
- 1:48:20Roll for intimacy.
- 1:48:22You know, I'm just kidding.
- 1:48:24Spice alert!
- 1:48:28Yeah, give it how much?
- 1:48:30I'll give you 1,800 gold pieces for it.
- 1:48:33I want more. 20. Final offer.
- 1:48:3620,000? Wait, did you say 18? I don't know math.
- 1:48:40Does that could all count her offer desk?
- 1:48:42It has nods and then gives him like an up finger.
- 1:48:48So hard, got it. 20k.
- 1:48:52Well, I guess I'll have to find somebody else.
- 1:48:55Wait, it's 1,800, like 1,800 and 3 zeros or 2 zeros?
- 1:49:00Dennis gives you like a one second finger.
- 1:49:03He just writes down on his slate and his slate says, "Ask for a million."
- 1:49:09Final offer. One million. Wait, you can't read.
- 1:49:15I can read now. We found out I can read in this robotic.
- 1:49:19I actually know if you upped his intelligence.
- 1:49:23But at the same time, I upped my intelligence and also learned like six new languages.
- 1:49:29I became extremely smart for slum race.
- 1:49:33He just looks at you and he says, "Okay, I misunderstood. 2,000 gold."
- 1:49:39Roll a brace with waving?
- 1:49:44Sure, yeah. 17.
- 1:49:46He says, "All right, I could do 2,000."
- 1:49:49But you keep the body.
- 1:49:51Can we keep one of the heads as proof?
- 1:49:56Do you know anything about a mitosisaurus?
- 1:49:59Side sword toes? Nope.
- 1:50:02Yeah, you could keep one of the heads.
- 1:50:05Cool. Hey, do you know how we kill one of these suckers?
- 1:50:10Oh, I'd rather sit and watch.
- 1:50:13And he just walks up to one of the seats and the stands and just sits down.
- 1:50:16He's like, "How about it?
- 1:50:18Rorik, as you are working the tightest thing up."
- 1:50:22Yes, you are. The dude suddenly appears next to you.
- 1:50:25Out of the corner of your eye, you catch just like a little bit of a black,
- 1:50:29wispy, sort of shadowy material that sort of vaporizes as he appears next to you.
- 1:50:35And he says, "Well done. Are we on for a deal?"
- 1:50:40Double, we got it alive.
- 1:50:42Wait, real spare.
- 1:50:46Roll another persuasion.
- 1:50:4722.
- 1:50:48I'll give you an extra 500.
- 1:50:51I'm gonna go to a smaller one to try to tie its mouth shut.
- 1:50:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:50:56Okay.
- 1:50:57Des holds up three fingers to you, Rorik.
- 1:51:03Three million.
- 1:51:06Three million.
- 1:51:09Insight, I rolled a ten.
- 1:51:11Do you want me to counter that insight?
- 1:51:13Sure, because I'm about to say 300.
- 1:51:16Final hover.
- 1:51:17[laughter]
- 1:51:21I did a 17, so you can...
- 1:51:25What do you mean by three?
- 1:51:28Just triple is the idea is to go for triple.
- 1:51:32That's not what Rorik thought.
- 1:51:34What did he think that you thought?
- 1:51:35Three thousand.
- 1:51:36Yes.
- 1:51:37Okay.
- 1:51:38Three thousand.
- 1:51:41All right, deal.
- 1:51:44You drive a hard bargain, goblin, but I pay a fair price.
- 1:51:47Wait, three thousand altogether or two thousand plus three thousand?
- 1:51:50I don't know what we just agreed to.
- 1:51:52Just three thousand.
- 1:51:53Oh, okay, deal.
- 1:51:55As I was tying up the rest of the story.
- 1:51:57He says, "Oh, you don't have to waste any more rope. I can take it from here."
- 1:52:02How?
- 1:52:04Well, if you would let your friends know to take a step back.
- 1:52:07Everyone take a step back.
- 1:52:08This cool guy's about to do some cool guy stuff.
- 1:52:12I'll take a step back.
- 1:52:13Why not?
- 1:52:14Can I get the gold first?
- 1:52:15He hands you a sack of gold.
- 1:52:17Oh, geez, that's heavy.
- 1:52:19And then right into the magic bag of hold and it goes whoop.
- 1:52:24He looks over to where the centrist snake is sitting and he starts to swirl his hands around.
- 1:52:30And as he does, there's sort of a swirling of black sort of shadowy energy.
- 1:52:36Leave one of the hats.
- 1:52:37Oh, it's like the energy bunny from Avatar, Korra.
- 1:52:40Oh, yeah. I was like, oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:52:43And it starts to form underneath the centrist snake.
- 1:52:46It starts to grow and it grows and grows.
- 1:52:48And as it does, you see the centrist snake from the middle, or sorry, not the centrist snake, the mitosisaurus.
- 1:52:55From its center, it starts to kind of fall underneath as if it's falling through the ground.
- 1:53:01And then it starts to pull the heads with it until it all disappears into this swirling portal.
- 1:53:07And he says, you still want the heads, right?
- 1:53:10Just one.
- 1:53:11For proof.
- 1:53:12All right.
- 1:53:13And he sort of pushes, he looks like he's really straining, but he pushes this spiraling shadowy vortex a little way so that it grabs one of them and it slides into it as well.
- 1:53:24And then he sort of just pulls his hands together and as he does this giant portal shrinks until he completely caps it off, essentially.
- 1:53:35Once that was taken care of, they decided to forego the shadow hag in preference for heading to King Fortunus' old workout spot, the Great Iron, in hopes of taking him out next.
- 1:53:47Things were going pretty well for our team of criminals.
- 1:53:50Meanwhile, Lilsos was still on the hunt for these grave robbers.
- 1:53:55He followed up with his earlier lead and staked out the Atlantic Heights graveyard for where they were supposed to be.
- 1:54:02Sure enough, two scroungers drifted in from the late night air and got to work trying to break into an ornate mausoleum.
- 1:54:10Disguising his voice, he was able to get a little bit of information out of them.
- 1:54:15And who are you taking the bones to this time?
- 1:54:17We mean this time it's always the same.
- 1:54:19It's Rad-- it's Radicus.
- 1:54:21Radicus?
- 1:54:22Yeah, Radicus.
- 1:54:24What's he paying you to do this?
- 1:54:25Oh man.
- 1:54:26He's giving us a--
- 1:54:27He-- he-- he-- he-- he--
- 1:54:29I had a crew.
- 1:54:31He's like, you know, I took a-- cut, you know, if I'm out here, I-- it's urgent.
- 1:54:36You know this, it was my condition.
- 1:54:38But I had a couple guys that hired to do the job a couple weeks ago.
- 1:54:43They paid me-- paid me 10 gold to do the job.
- 1:54:46They gave you 10 gold?
- 1:54:47They find the magic ones?
- 1:54:49The magic bones?
- 1:54:50That's what we're looking for, right?
- 1:54:52Well, I mean, look, Radicus said he'd pay for any bones, but he said he preferred magic bones.
- 1:54:58That's where the money's at, right?
- 1:55:00So, I looked into this guy, right?
- 1:55:03That's Barry of the Mausoleum here, this Benny guy.
- 1:55:06He's magic.
- 1:55:07He was a magic man.
- 1:55:09When he was alive, he was some kind of wizard or something.
- 1:55:12I don't know.
- 1:55:13How much is he paying you for these bones?
- 1:55:14I could pay you more.
- 1:55:16What?
- 1:55:17Well--
- 1:55:18The program is trying to maybe, you know, take over some of the business here.
- 1:55:23Why do you want the bones?
- 1:55:24He won't even tell us why he wants the bones.
- 1:55:27Well, if you think about it, if I had the stockpile of magic bones, I could be the middle man and mark them up.
- 1:55:34Was we interested in that?
- 1:55:36Roll--
- 1:55:37I'm just trying to get as much info as--
- 1:55:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:55:40--asking all these dumb questions.
- 1:55:41No, I'll get you.
- 1:55:42Roll the deception check.
- 1:55:4411.
- 1:55:4511.
- 1:55:46He says--
- 1:55:47Wait, why would we--
- 1:55:48I don't think that he's debating the prices.
- 1:55:51I don't think you're going to be able to talk him up.
- 1:55:53Look, Radicus is a dangerous dude, okay?
- 1:55:56He doesn't kill people because they brought him bones he didn't like.
- 1:56:00So I don't want to mess around with this one, Bert.
- 1:56:03He gave you a direction to come and grab these ones specifically?
- 1:56:05Well, no, he just told us to bring back bones.
- 1:56:08Told if he'd bring back bones, he don't like.
- 1:56:10Well, I think between you and me, I think they was fake bones.
- 1:56:14I think they got some clay or something, and then they just painted them white and made them look like bones.
- 1:56:20Or something like that.
- 1:56:21I don't know.
- 1:56:22Maybe they were just sticks.
- 1:56:2312.
- 1:56:24And to close things out for our little glimpse to the past, Lil Sauce managed to save these
- 1:56:32boneheads from a ghostly figure they accidentally dug up.
- 1:56:36As means of thanks, they paid him in information, giving him the final clue he needed to get to the boss of their operation.
- 1:56:43So, tell me more about this Radicus.
- 1:56:46Okay, well, he works over at the docks.
- 1:56:51I think he's a dock security over in Atlantic Heights.
- 1:56:56Okay, I guess he runs the night shift at the docks and he's converted his office into kind of his own little private off headquarters.
- 1:57:07He's running this whole operation out of it.
- 1:57:11Hiring scroungers to go get bones from across the city, you know, the various cemeteries, graveyards.
- 1:57:18Hell, you want to kill somebody?
- 1:57:20And get their bones out.
- 1:57:22I mean, that's a nasty job, but I've heard some guys are doing it.
- 1:57:25How much is it to pay you for bones?
- 1:57:27Well, he gives you like three gold pieces of just regular bones, but if you can get magic bones, that's where the money's at.
- 1:57:35What are you doing with the ball?
- 1:57:37I don't know.
- 1:57:38He takes them into another room.
- 1:57:40I don't know.
- 1:57:42That's all I see.
- 1:57:44Puts them in a bag, takes them in a room.
- 1:57:47Bone's gone.
- 1:57:49Well, that's about some things up for our little story so far.
- 1:57:53The criminals are like an intense cage match with King Fortunus, possibly the strongest fighter Island Numus has ever seen.
- 1:58:00Lil Sausters on the hunt for whoever decimated his entire secret police organization,
- 1:58:05and little old me just sitting here in the sky watching it all unfold.
