- Lucas: Luna, ready to learn some Telugu for your next trip? Luna: Oh yes! I'm planning a weekend getaway. I'll need to check into a hotel. Lucas: Perfect timing. Today we're focusing on hotel check-in phrases. And hey, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Telugu, you can support the show and keep it ad-free at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it's nice to have no ads interrupting our lessons. Now, what's the first thing I'd say at the hotel? Lucas: Let's start with: I have a reservation. In Telugu: నా బుకింగ్ ఉంది. Luna: నా బుకింగ్ ఉంది. Lucas: Great! నా means 'my', బుకింగ్ is 'booking', ఉంది means 'there is'. So literally 'my booking exists'. Luna: Oh, that's logical. నా బుకింగ్ ఉంది. I can totally say that. Lucas: Good. Now if you haven't booked, you'd say: నాకు గది కావాలి — I need a room. Luna: నాకు గది కావాలి. నాకు is 'to me'? And గది is 'room'? Lucas: Exactly. కావాలి means 'want' or 'need'. So 'to me room is wanted'. Luna: I love how Telugu builds sentences. నాకు గది కావాలి. Lucas: Now after you check in, you might ask: గది నంబర్ ఎంత? — What is the room number? Luna: గది నంబర్ ఎంత? ఎంత is 'how much' or 'what number'? Lucas: Right. So గది నంబర్ ఎంత? You'll hear something like 'Your room is 205'. Luna: Then I'd ask for the key: కీ ఇవ్వండి — give me the key. Lucas: You're ahead of me! Yes, కీ is 'key', ఇవ్వండి is 'give'. So కీ ఇవ్వండి. Luna: కీ ఇవ్వండి. And I'll end with ధన్యవాదాలు — thank you. Lucas: Perfect. Let's do a quick scene. You walk up to the front desk. Luna: నా బుకింగ్ ఉంది. Lucas: The clerk says: Name, please. You give it. Then: గది నంబర్ ఎంత? Luna: They say 305. You say: కీ ఇవ్వండి. ధన్యవాదాలు. Lucas: Excellent! That's a smooth check-in. Luna: I feel ready. Let me repeat them all: నా బుకింగ్ ఉంది, నాకు గది కావాలి, గది నంబర్ ఎంత, కీ ఇవ్వండి, ధన్యవాదాలు. Lucas: You've got them. Practice these before your trip, and you'll breeze through check-in. Luna: Thanks, Lucas! See you next time for more Telugu. Lucas: Until then, keep practicing.
