- 3:42are you, man? Good dave, thank you. How are you doing?
- 3:44And I'm doing well. It's been a while. It's been a while.
- 3:46It has been at least six months, at least six months. Well
- 3:47you're back. You're back, at least for this week. It's I can't.
- 3:52I can't wear you out, man, I can't. I can't bring
- 3:53you in too off. But BT's gonna be serving as my guest co host
- 3:57today and we have a good friend Hannah Gardner from the Canal Trusty Man Association
- 4:00with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week Lease bring Hannah and Hannah
- 4:04good morning. How are you? How are you? I'm doing fine?
- 4:09And we have the lovely and talented Brian Thompson BT with us as well.
- 4:13Lovely it's never been called lovely. This is he's a lovely Is he not
- 4:16a lovely guy? Hannah, lovely? He's She does all right? As
- 4:21always. The picture of our pet we're hoping to get adopted. He is
- 4:25posted to Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave A seventy on Twitter.
- 4:28Hannah, let's meet Annie. Tell us the story of Annie. Yeah,
- 4:32so Annie came in as a stray. Um. It cracks me up to
- 4:39say her name and think of her as a different dog. Because I have
- 4:42a little Chirawa about his name. It keeps re minded me of her.
- 4:46But Annie at the shelter, she came in as a stray. She had
- 4:53harbovirus whenever she came in. UM. She has been treated for it fully
- 4:58and has recovered and about friend parvo. She is about three months old.
- 5:05I would say she is a young puppy, so she's got lots of energy.
- 5:12She wants to run, she wants to play. We actually, since
- 5:15she's had parvo, she is allowed to go out to our play groups and
- 5:21stuff like that with other dogs. So she does love playing with other dogs.
- 5:28She absolutely loves playing with toys. She is a just a big ball
- 5:33of energy. So she needs someone who can understand that she is a energy
- 5:38ball and she wants to play and she wants to have a sibling. Looks
- 5:44like a bit of a hound, is what I was looking at the pictures
- 5:47you sent me, Les, And again the listeners can look at the pictures
- 5:50of day valid Radio and Facebook at at day seventy on Twitter. But hand
- 5:54does like like a little bit of a hound in Annie. Yeah, so
- 5:58she definitely looks like she has hound in her um. At first I was
- 6:02kind of like, maybe beagle, but she definitely looks more of a hound.
- 6:08So, and that's not to say she couldn't do her exist, but
- 6:12still, she is very very cute, very very very very playful. So
- 6:16maybe a young family or something like that would love to take her in and
- 6:23give her a good home. But she is very sweet and we have had
- 6:26her out with some of our employees dogs as well, and she gets along
- 6:30great with them. She is sweet as sid And I just hope that she
- 6:34found a really good home, and I hope she found it soon. BT
- 6:40got anything that had to ask him, Honestly, I just and I'm sure
- 6:44there's not. But I was wondering if maybe there are any special needs for
- 6:46Annie since the since the recovery from parbo or is that did she just completely
- 6:50she's opal it over? Now? Um? Did she get what now?
- 6:57No? He was asking because did she did have parvo but she's recovered from
- 7:00that? Are there any special needs to go along with that? Oh?
- 7:03No, not, I really know. Once they recover from parvo, we
- 7:08usually wait about like a month or two before we get them fixed, just
- 7:13because their immune system has been like compromised for a while and we want to
- 7:17make sure that it builds back up and it really gets to be a stronger
- 7:21immune system before we try to fix them. So that's really the only thing
- 7:26that you would have to just look out for is just making sure that you
- 7:30are bringing her own whenever she scheduled to get fixed, and we will do
- 7:33everything to make sure she is okay. All the dogs usually get fixed about
- 7:39two months after they get parvo anyway. So with that being said, she
- 7:43doesn't really have any special requirements, but she does require lots of love.
- 7:47Yeah, lots of love and lots of energy, somebody that's got a lot
- 7:50of energy to go along with her. So this may not be the best
- 7:54dog for older people. I mean that don't have a lot of energy,
- 7:57like for example me. You need somebody that you know, somebody that can
- 8:01you know. And she's a pup, she's three months old. You know,
- 8:03you got to keep that in mind. Hannah, We're only one week
- 8:05away from Tuxas and Tails and I've been seeing all the sponsors on your Facebook
- 8:09page. I really our little community here, Hannah is really stepping up to
- 8:13help out with Tuxas and Tails one week from tomorrow at Capitol Market. Yes,
- 8:20yes, so we want everybody and we encourage everybody to come out.
- 8:22Get a ticket. It's going to be very pretty at the Capital Market.
- 8:28It's gonna be at seven, So come on out on May six, and
- 8:31we all want to have fun and there will be puppies, maybe even some
- 8:35kiddies we'll see, but definitely some puppies. So we're hoping that everybody will
- 8:39come out and give them love and enjoy the food, the entertainment and everything
- 8:43that we're going to have out there. And of course that is one week
- 8:46from Saturday, and I want to get this in there as well. In
- 8:48addition to tuxas and tails, there's a big event going on tomorrow and clendenon
- 8:52the Clinden and Brewing Company folks are going to be hosting Barks and Brews tomorrow
- 8:58one to four on Means Street in Clindena. Now I know you guys are
- 9:01gonna be there with some wonderful pets that are available for adoption and and BT

- 9:11there at the brewery starting at one o'clock. Teams of four will compete to

- 9:20team gets a puzzle, four pints of beer, and their choice of pretzels
- 9:24and beer cheese. Sign me up right, your cognitive skills decline and then
- 9:30it just becomes a i'd like, I would like to attend that since tomorrow
- 9:35one to four with the folks in that Clinden and it's gonna be right there
- 9:37on Main Street. I know, Handa, you guys are gonna be there.
- 9:39It's gonna be a fantastic afternoon there tomorrow. Yes, it'll be so
- 9:43fun. Everybody come out all right, all right, Hannah, I do
- 9:48appreciate you being here, and let's go get Annie home and I'll talk to
- 9:50you next week one day prior to Texas and tails. Thanks a lot,
- 9:56Hannah. We'll talk soon, all right. Set and is a Handah Gardner.

- 10:03Pet of the Week. It's Annie. Annie's three months old, not fixed
- 10:07ship, but will be. She's a very loving girl who loves to play
- 10:09with other dogs. Lots of energy. So make sure that you know that
- 10:13this is somebody. This is a dog which you're gonna have to play with
- 10:16a whole lot at least you know again. Three months old. She is
- 10:20a survivor of parvo, no long lasting effects. She came in as a
- 10:22stray we understand bt and they got her all fixed up and Annie would be
- 10:26a great pet for somebody, somebody with some energy. Yeah, somebody definitely
- 10:31were with a fenced yard or with some other dog, probably needed and yeah
- 10:33that's what she said. Great, great with other dogs. Go see Annie's
- 10:37picture. It's posted right now on a Dave Allen Radio, on Facebook and

- 14:39although above as my guest co host to say, how are you man?
- 14:41You say you hanging in there with radio leg radio legend. This is
- 14:43like how they called people like meteorologists just because they deliver the weather. Well,
- 14:50meteorologists, you actually have a degree to be able to do that and
- 14:52stuff. Radio legend you have to earn through lots and lots of years of
- 14:56twelve and fourteen hour days and probably heavy abuse of some things. But we'll
- 15:01leave that alone, all right. There is a new reality show that's all
- 15:05the buzz. Everybody's talking about arizon A Fox Nation and it gets into the
- 15:09modern day, shall we say, differences between the iconic Hatfield and McCoy families,
- 15:13now being from southern West Virginia's I originally am. I'm pretty familiar with
- 15:18the whole story, and I'm familiar with several of the people involved in that
- 15:20series, including Courtney McCoy and I hope I pronounce your last name right,
- 15:24De Prospero, who joins us now via the Pigley Wiggily Huntlight Courtney, how
- 15:28did I do that on that last name? It was actually perfect, perfect
- 15:33de prospero. But and I've met your husband. He's a great guy.
- 15:39But the McCoy name is what really sticks out to people. So I thank
- 15:41you for joining us today. So first of all, I gotta ask you.
- 15:46We're gonna get into the show, but how have you been? And
- 15:48I say that because I know when you and I talked about you coming on
- 15:50the show a couple of weeks ago, you were just running ragged. You
- 15:54were headed to New York for promotional appearances with this television show. Have you
- 15:58recovered from that a little bit? I have recovered. I got back on
- 16:02Wednesday, so I'm feeling pretty rested. I can't complain. Well, uh,
- 16:06and that's good because I know what that's like when they send you on
- 16:08those you know, those promotional tours. You're doing all the all the things
- 16:11up there. So let's talk about the show and air some Fox Nation.
- 16:15And as I said, you wounded up like a big world one of the
- 16:18promotional stuff, and you're on Fox and Friends Morning Show and so on and
- 16:21so forth. How did this whole idea for the show come about? Courtney?
- 16:26So about ten years ago, I started working with Dean King, which
- 16:30is the author of the books, a Feud best selling author. He's an
- 16:33amazing gentleman, and he had came in to do some background research before his
- 16:40book, and we own one of the only original McCoy's standing properties that still
- 16:45left from the feud. So he had came over and we had chatted and
- 16:49we had just massive amounts of information on the feud and on the family and
- 16:55original photos, most photos that people have still never seen. And we got
- 17:00to be good friends. And then he approached me about a year and a
- 17:03half ago and he said, I would like to cover we would like to
- 17:07cover economic development, We would like to cover the hat for the McCoy's what
- 17:11they're doing now. And I said, yeah, absolutely, If we're going
- 17:15to do something that's going to be good for southern West Virginia, I'm on
- 17:18board. And so that's how the whole thing came about it. And I
- 17:22think it's it's very interesting that you say that, and we're gonna get into
- 17:26the meat potatoes of the show here in a couple of moments. But the
- 17:30first thing that you think about to bear with me on this coordinay, the
- 17:33first thing you think about. People say, oh, we're going to do
- 17:34a reality show or we're gonna do any kind of a show about the hatfields
- 17:37of McCoy's. People tend to have a negative look on it. They have
- 17:41a tendency to say, oh, gosh, that's gonna you know, show
- 17:45us as backwoods, barefoot hillbillings and so on and so forth. I know
- 17:48you and I know your family. That's far from what you folks are and
- 17:52what you stand for. And you do in the words economic development about that.
- 17:56And I remember when the Kevin Costner thing came out the years ago,
- 17:59and I don't how accurate that was was a Hollywood production, but I will
- 18:03say this, it did put some positive light on West Virginia. And I
- 18:07think in talking to you a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the interview
- 18:11Courtney, I think this is what what you folks are trying to do with
- 18:12the show. Am I right? You are definitely right. We want to
- 18:17show the beautiful side of West Virginia and there's a lot of it. There's
- 18:22a lot of it. So so talk about the actual show. How did
- 18:25the filming go, how did you how well did you get along? Because
- 18:26I mean it is does have the terms still feuding in the title, so
- 18:30is there's still a little bit of animosity just kind of break the whole thing
- 18:33down for us. Well, So from the beginning, I didn't I didn't
- 18:37pick the people on the show, obviously, I was approached Indian. From
- 18:41there we went into casting and did all those things, and there is there's
- 18:45still animosity, but there's not animosity as a whole. I don't dislike the
- 18:52whole Hatfield family, the people that they picked in particularly though we have had
- 19:00ongoing court cases with and issues and personal issues for about eight to ten years.
- 19:06So they just happen to pick the one group of people that I have
- 19:11disdain for. You know, we try to get along, we're all trying
- 19:15to do the same thing. Developed businesses, promote Appalachia, you know,
- 19:19those type of things. But when it comes to us personally, there's there's
- 19:23a major issue. And hopefully maybe one day we'll get over that, but
- 19:29I doubt it. There's just so much bad blood. I don't want to
- 19:32like sit down and hang out with them. I don't want to grab a
- 19:34beer, you know, I don't want to go to a festival. But
- 19:38I think all in all, it's been good and for them. You know,
- 19:44I'm not a fan, but I'm not a detractor either. Well,
- 19:48the thing about it is is and you mentioned court cases, and I'm a
- 19:49little familiar with this story. And again we're talking with Courtney mccoye de Prospero,
- 19:53who is part of this new reality show it's here an un Fox Nation
- 19:57about the modern day Hatfields of McCoy And I'm a little familiar with that because
- 20:02people have thrown thrown around those names hat Fields of McCoy's free. I know
- 20:04there was a car dealership at one time named that and everything. Of course,
- 20:07you have to the half McCoy trail and you've got all this, but
- 20:11when you start getting into a lot of this thing, a lot of that
- 20:14is actually trademarked. Uh and this and this is where and I know the
- 20:18I know, the folks that you're talking about on the other side of the
- 20:19mark, they had a couple of things that they that they marketed and put
- 20:22out, you know, put out for consumers to buy and so on and
- 20:26so forth, and you kind of cross and you kind of kind of kind
- 20:30of go across some lines there. According Well, so I don't have an
- 20:33issue with people using the hat Film Acoid name. That's an historical name.
- 20:37It is a part of ipp watching history. But you know, the state
- 20:42they have a trademark on the hat Film cood Trail system, So if you
- 20:45use that name in particular, you do have to pay for that name.
- 20:49If you use hat Film Acoive for the Dolly Partons show, you have to
- 20:56pay her. You can't just promote her and not do that. And when
- 21:00we were starting an alcohol company, they found out about it previous to our
- 21:07launch, but post our trademarking, and so they tried to use an almost
- 21:12identical name to work off our marketing plan. So we tried to shut that
- 21:18down because you know, you don't put all the money in hard work and
- 21:22effort and energy into creating a brand to let someone piggyback off all your efforts.
- 21:27And so that's where it started with them. They just tried to tweak
- 21:32their name very lightly and trademark about fifteen days after we filed. Brian Thompson
- 21:37is with me. He's my guest co host today Cortin and he's a radio
- 21:42guy and stand up comedian, so on and silver. Brian, do you
- 21:45have anything for Cordney, I do for those people who don't know what started
- 21:48this entire thing, because yeah, that's a good question, because there's all
- 21:52these we've read this, we've we've seen things. I mean, you,
- 21:55what is your story so poor? Historically? Yeah, history from the beginning.
- 22:00Okay, So there are so many things. Exactly in eastern Kentucky,
- 22:07which is actually where a lot of both you took place. In eastern Kentucky
- 22:11and southern West Virginia. It was very small region at that point, massive
- 22:15land, but not a lot of people, right. They the hat Folds
- 22:18McCoys, they both fought in the Civil War. But after that some of
- 22:23the McCoy family had fault against the Hatfield family, so that started the animosity
- 22:30between the families. And some of the Hatfield's actually killed one of Randall's brothers,
- 22:37and so Randall McCoy, which is the most important male figure in the
- 22:42McCoy clan, they went to them they they'd killed a family member. That
- 22:48started in a few years later. There were timber and land right issues because
- 22:52they had these massive tracts of land. And then you get into where hat
- 22:56Fields are still in McCoy property. There's items, pigs and such but you
- 23:02can remember two hundred years ago, a pig that could get you through the
- 23:06winter, that could make or break your family. Yeah, exactly, So
- 23:08it wasn't It wasn't just a pig. It was the subsistence, the way
- 23:12your family was going to eat everything from soap to candles to your food.
- 23:18So there was that, and then a Hatfield and a McCoy ended up falling
- 23:22in love. And then I ended up having a baby at a web box,
- 23:26which is even more of a no no back. Yeah, it's snowballed
- 23:30because not only did he have a child out a web box, he then
- 23:34left her and married her cousin. Oh okay, yeah, so I mean
- 23:38it's the whole thing. And so throughout the time, you know, this
- 23:41is a twenty fifth thirty year period that became very vengeful and very angry.
- 23:48And all of these families are also interconnected with other families that are surrounding this
- 23:52area. So if you're from southern West Virginia, you know this. Once
- 23:57one family member does not like you, you get a tribe. Yeah,
- 24:02it's a whole. It's the whole dang group, the whole heath Hall gang.
- 24:04As my sister would says, A whole group. And when you have
- 24:08ten, fifteen, twenty kids and then you have thirty ants and uncles and
- 24:14so on and so forth, it gets a little sticky in the woods real
- 24:18quick. Yeah, kenadied again. We're talking about Courtney McCoy, a deep
- 24:21prospero about this new reality series hat Fields and McCoy's forever feudings. So talk
- 24:26about filming the show. What was what was that? Like? What was
- 24:29the whole process? Like, where was the filming? What did it take
- 24:32place? Just kind of take us to the whole process. Well, I
- 24:36can't speak on the Hatfield filming, but I also got my personal experience.
- 24:38They came in, they stayed about three weeks. They did a lot of
- 24:42filming at the McCoy station, which is the old Local Corporation building. This
- 24:47is and let me get a little plug in here for you. This is
- 24:48a restaurant that your family owns in downtown Logan and I've eaten there several times.
- 24:53It's actually a very very good restaurant. So they actually kind of a
- 24:56restaurant in a bar. Do you still do the axe throwing thing down there?
- 25:00We do, So we have an axe throwing centor we have a restaurant,
- 25:03which were actually currently doing a complete remod on You're gonna love the food
- 25:08when you come back. Well, I love it the first time I was
- 25:11there, so so I can't imagine that would change. But go ahead,
- 25:15and then we have an event center, so we have parties, weddings,
- 25:18events, We have a prom tomorrow, then we have the bar, and
- 25:22then in about ninety days we're actually opening the first boutique hotel in downtown Logan.
- 25:29Oh okay, well they downtown Logan hasn't had one since yre Coma burned
- 25:33back in the twenty eleven. I think I think it was so they filmed
- 25:37a lot. What did they actually what were they hoping to capture when they
- 25:38filmed you folks there at the McCoy station, So they wanted to capture on
- 25:44our side of the development. We were taking this structure of this dilapidated one
- 25:48hundred and twenty year old building and turning it into something beautiful. And we
- 25:52were doing it as a family. So it's not just me that went in.
- 25:56It's me, it's my husband, it's my dad, my brother,
- 26:00everybody brought a piece into this so that we could create this fifty thousand square
- 26:04foot Appalachian style resort, and so they wanted to film that between us,
- 26:11and they wanted the film how we operated together and the growth and the job
- 26:15creation and all of those things. That's mainly what we shot in Logan.
- 26:21And then they just followed us in our day to day lives. So if
- 26:23we went to cemetery, if we went to the store, anything that we
- 26:29did a day in the life of scenario. And then after that, about
- 26:34three weeks, they took what they had and made the show, which is
- 26:37now on Fox Nation. And it's on Fox Nation, and so I want
- 26:41again to get into that. Have you gotten to see the finished product yet?
- 26:47So it is streaming now, Okay, it came out on Monday.
- 26:51I have watched the entire it's five part episodes and it integrates the half fields
- 26:56in McCoys in their daily life, their family and their business. And so
- 26:59I've watched it and I was very happy with how our region was portrayed and
- 27:04how the trail system was portrayed. It was very accurate to our region.
- 27:08I was very happy with the outcome. It's so beautiful. We have such
- 27:11a beautiful place and that shines through well, and that's good to hear,
- 27:15because sometimes there's so many things that happened, whether it's a news story or
- 27:19it's a reality show or whatever, and you know, you don't really know
- 27:22when they're filming exactly how it's going to turn out, and sometimes they can
- 27:25take things out of contexts, as you well know. But overall, I
- 27:29mean, not everything's gonna be one perfect corny but overall you're saying that you're
- 27:33happy with the way it turned out. I am happy with the way it
- 27:37turned out, and I'm happy about the light that it shined on our region.
- 27:40Yet absolutely, what has been the response from other people? Have you
- 27:42heard anybody else talk about maybe across the country to get emails or Facebook message
- 27:48or anything, were people talking about that they liked the show or what?
- 27:51You know? A lot of the people that have reached out I talked about
- 27:53how beautiful our locations are that now they've looked it up, they've googled it,
- 27:57they want to come and visit southern West Virginia, they want to ride
- 28:00at trail. I've had so many people tell me that they're like, we
- 28:03had no idea that there were so many things to do, there, so
- 28:07many activities, because when they think of West Virginia. If they even realize
- 28:12we're a state, that's all step on. Yeah. I have had a
- 28:17few about that too, like, oh, well in Western Virginia and that
- 28:19first Dan say back, come on, we're a state, have been since
- 28:23eighteen sixty three. Yeah. Yeah, it's a it's a whole stage to
- 28:26itself, but really positive. You know, you're always going to have your
- 28:30trolls. You're always trying to your people that are naysayers, but we don't
- 28:34look at it that way. We see only the positive. We see only
- 28:37the good things that are coming for our region. And the response been overwhelmingly
- 28:42good. Oh that's awesome. Hey, I have a before we let you
- 28:45go, Courtney, I have a text because we get a lot of text
- 28:47to the show, and that had a text to somebody who wanted me to
- 28:48ask you a question, and the text is curious, how did the hat
- 28:52feels. Mccoye's families feel about the mini series. I referenced to Elise storying
- 28:56Kevin Costner and Tom Berringer was a pretty accurate account of history, and they
- 29:00ended by saying, I loved it. By the way, from what we
- 29:06know, we believe that it is mostly accurate you have to remember they didn't
- 29:11write any stories like The New York Times, the Post, all the people
- 29:15that covers the hype film A Coui Feud didn't cover it till twenty years after
- 29:21it happened. So some of that stuff gets lost in translation. And some
- 29:25things will never know because there were a lot of floods and fires, and
- 29:29you know, they burnt the house down where all the records would be,
- 29:30so a lot of that stuff we just have to use off word of mouth.
- 29:34But as for the miniseries, we were happy with how it turned out.
- 29:38I think it should have been an actual show because there were so many
- 29:41other things that could have been put in there. But all in all,
- 29:45yes, very pausitive. All right, good, So twenty three minutes away
- 29:48from ten, we gotta let you go. I appreciate you stopping by.
- 29:49Give us again the details where people can watch the show, and because you
- 29:53said it's streaming now, where can people see the show? It is streaming
- 29:57now on Fox Nation. You can download the app and you can access it
- 30:02through there. There's also on YouTube you can kind of grab some of the
- 30:04little snippets if you want to see what you like about it, and then
- 30:07you can follow Fox Nations. You can follow Courtney McCoy or McCoy station for
- 30:11updates. All right, well, I'm looking forward to coming I haven't been
- 30:15down in a few months. I'm looking forward to coming down and checking out
- 30:17the restaurant. Definitely looking forward to it. So Courtney, I appreciate you
- 30:21being here. Best of luck with everything. Sounds like your your life in
- 30:25this. I mean, you guys are already successful, but this is even
- 30:27going to take it to another level because now you take it across the country.
- 30:30Courtney, I appreciate you being here, and we'll talk again soon.
- 30:33Thanks a lot, Thanks Daves, have a good day you as well.
- 30:36Twenty two minutes away from ten. You're gonna be watching the show, absolutely
- 30:41yeah, and you can. That's streaming Unfox Nation. I'm definitely looking forward.
- 30:44Gave it, she gave it her approval. Right if it's if it's
- 30:48accurate, I want to watch you well, And that's what I was saying.
- 30:51You know what happens a lot of times, and again, it doesn't
- 30:52matter whether it's a reality show or a news show whatever. They film things
- 30:56just sections here and there and then they put them together there. And I
- 31:00have actually met some folks that were on a reality show and I won't mention
- 31:04the name of the show a couple of years ago, and they said,
- 31:06that's not that's not what we were told. We filmed one scene and they
- 31:11put it in another scene, and they created an animosity that wasn't actually there.
- 31:15And I know both sid I know the McCoy family down there, and
- 31:18I know the folks she's talking about that she's had the lawsuits with on the
- 31:22Hatfield side, and these are this is legitimate. I mean, they've been
- 31:25to court several several times over it. So it's more of a financial thing
- 31:29than it is over a pig as it was back in the day, but
- 31:33it is. It is good to hear from Courtney that the overall she's pretty
- 31:36happy with the way that the series turned out. It's on enough Fox Nation
- 31:38to the streaming, so you may want to check that out. A couple
- 31:40of quick texts before we bring Eden Douglas and to talk about the opening for
- 31:42The Dirty Birds, which they open up on the road tonight at State and
- 31:45NA, Texas. Hear Dave sounds like the half of McCoy feud is alive
- 31:48and well, it just evolved into a straight up feud over money with different
- 31:52characters and mostly from keyboards. Predictable. That's a texture, uh Tex,
- 31:56says Fox Nation. Plus US Virginia's one hundred and fifty year old hillbilly feud
- 32:01over a pig. What better pairing for a cultural representation of West Virginia.
- 32:07You know, I understand that text, and I get it, and I
- 32:09knew that would be the response. And honestly, when I first heard about
- 32:13this, that's one of the things that I thought as well. And again,
- 32:15in all fairness, I've not watched the show. I'm gonna try to
- 32:16watch it this weekend. I'll come back with a full report next weekend or
- 32:20next week rather. But if you can show anything positive of number one,
- 32:23letting people know that we are a state, as Courtney said, where you
- 32:27know, we're not near Roanoke or not near Richmond. Great that you had
- 32:29a cousin that lived there, but that's not who we are. And show
- 32:31the beauty of West Virginia. And it sounds like that's what they've done,
- 32:36you know, by putting this on display. So I hope it's well received.
- 32:40I do hope it is. Hey, I want to throw this in
- 32:44here too. We have a brand new sponsor to the show, and I
- 32:46want to mention the folks. Travis Willard is a guy's name and he is

- 36:15I'm gonna take you down to La sometime, take you down to Logan and
- 36:19I know, get you the full Logan experience. We'll go eat at McCoy.
- 36:22At McCoy Station there meet great meat balls ups there by the way that'll
- 36:25work, all right? Eating Douglas. You've ever been to Logan? Eating?
- 36:30Really? Okay? Eating Douglas from Charleston Dirty birds with us? Uh?
- 36:34And now what took you to or do I want to know what took
- 36:36you to Logan? I've got some prints that live there, so we've been
- 36:38in and out and my dad used to, okay, over this day?
- 36:43All right? Well that's good, that's good. All right? Opening day
- 36:45for the birds all being on the road against Staten Island. You said your
- 36:49phone started ringing this morning. Team is already there? Is that, right
- 36:51are? They left at about ten o'clock yesterday morning to head there, so
- 36:53we did there all day. It's about an eleven hour bus trip. Wow.
- 36:57Okay, is opening day for the Atlantically six starties. So they're playing
- 37:02Staten Island, right And I know you guys are kind of still recovering from
- 37:07the Savannah bananas last week. How was that whole experience? Absolutely incredible?
- 37:10Like I ke happened into words. How amazing it was. I mean,
- 37:14their whole organization and their front office, to af their players, their owner,
- 37:17everything was unbelievable. They came in. It was a takeover. I
- 37:23did not lift a finger whenever it came to the production side of things,
- 37:27like it was all of them and it was they were amazing. I can't
- 37:30and the fans were incredible gaming chills because everyone's in country roads and I was
- 37:34on the field and they turned the music off and everyone was just singing.
- 37:37Heard country. You don't need music coming. It just keeps going, all
- 37:40right. So, I mean, you know, literally you start planning the
- 37:44next seasons. Who's one season ends? With the promotions and things of that
- 37:46nature. The logistics, it is a whole lot of work. What can
- 37:50people expect from the team this year? Um, we're looking pretty good,
- 37:52I will say, like our team actual team this year, and we've already
- 37:57played against the Bananas, we played an exhibition game once against the Black Socks,
- 38:00and Billy has done such an incredible job with recruiting these guys. We've
- 38:04got seven guys on the team that are Homer and LB veterans. One of
- 38:07our starting pitchers that'll start tomorrow night has seven years Major League experience, and
- 38:13we're really looking forward to baseball in general, but also the funding so we
- 38:15have around the ballpark. I mean, it's it's gonna be awesome. It's
- 38:19gonna be lessome. Kind of stinks that the guys are starting on the rim.
- 38:22They wanted to start here. But Tuesday, May night they'll be back
- 38:25at Yeah, and it's May nine, and definitely looking forward to that.
- 38:30Now. Somebody asked me about how people can catch the games. I saw
- 38:32something you posted on your on your social media talk about that. Yeah.
- 38:37So the Atlantic League tided a deal this year with Flow Sports with Flow Baseball.
- 38:42Um it's a three year deal and they cover everything. All of the
- 38:46Atlantic League games will now be streamed one. Flow Sports has that audio video
- 38:52or video okay, okay, pree camera video Okay, it's required to have
- 38:57three cameras. It is a subscription service, but it adds so much legitimacy
- 39:01and so much value to our streaming in to the game in general. I
- 39:07mean, my broadcaster now I can say that he's broadcasting on Flow Sports,
- 39:10which is the actual legitimate thing. They do a lot of NCAA baseball,
- 39:15a lot of wrestling, pro wrestling, hockey, everything. So it's cool
- 39:19that we're offered now to have something like that. And if someone's on there
- 39:22to watch hockey, they get to experience the atlantically available for themselves. And
- 39:28it's flow Sports well if OW orl SPO, RTS, dot TV. Okay,
- 39:34all right, so so make a note of that if you want to
- 39:36if you want to watch the if if you want to watch the games,
- 39:37because I mean there are a lot of there are obviously half the game is
- 39:40going to be on the road, so everybody's not gonna because there's a lot
- 39:43of teams who didn't even have streams. You couldn't watch our guys on the
- 39:46road. And now with this we're required, you know, the visiting teams
- 39:50required to have streams, and now we can watch the Dirty Birds all the
- 39:52time where they're at, which is really nice. Yeah, it's good stuff.
- 39:55Even Douglas from the Dirty Birds with it. So you're gonna be at
- 39:58some ball games too. I need to be. And I'm an old school
- 40:01Charlie's guy, like yeah, and we play as to Charlies. No,
- 40:06you play with Charleis this year you play as the Pepperoni roles. Yeah,
- 40:09five Thursdays this year, will play as the Charlies. The Charlies will make
- 40:13their debut or the first Thursday. So that's may love it. You're gonna
- 40:16do any like special jerseys for that, like throwback Charlie's jerseys or have our
- 40:22throwback jerseys. They're not the button up, they're like the yellow and blue
- 40:24strike the plover. Yeah. Nice, So they play with those, how
- 40:29they play with warmfield hats, So we'll do those. Pepperoni roles are gonna
- 40:32be on July fifteen. None of those be for sale to the public.
- 40:36Those jerseys we are already for sale in our teams. Pepperi Rolls Charlies are
- 40:40already for sale in the team store. Pepperoni rolls will be for so after
- 40:45July fifteen, and they will also option off the game more jerseys. Nice,
- 40:49that's good stuff. Absolutely, twelve minutes away from Tanny and Douglas with
- 40:52the Dirty Birds, is with us here on a five eighty live opening night
- 40:55is tonight against the Staten Island where already predicting a league champion Chimp. Yeah,
- 41:00we are always. It was media to day and Billy felt very confident,
- 41:04so he said that he's expecting the league championship, and I said,
- 41:07that's what we're expecting to bring back to Charleston because we don't have one,
- 41:09so we want it. And not necessarily related to the team, but there
- 41:13was an announcement a couple of days ago. But this country music festival,
- 41:15it's gonna be taking place over there with the Selengo Law Firm and they're going
- 41:20to be bringing in I think three or four of the acts have already been
- 41:23announced. My girl, Kate Boytech is going to be there. We're announcing
- 41:27him a little slowly, a little different, but it is the Selengo Law
- 41:30Down and Dirty Music Festival. It's going to be a two day event,
- 41:34very affordable for fans. Um it's gonna be amazing. As of now,
- 41:37we've got Love and theftcoming and talked over and Kate Boytag and within the next
- 41:42week we'll announce a few more headliners. They're gonna be good. I really
- 41:45hope people are assigned and we wanted to be a big party. Yeah,
- 41:49exactly what we're looking forward to it definitely. We are excited about the season
- 41:52again. Opening night is tonight, and go on and get that subscription service
- 41:57because you can catch all of the video, not just the audio, but
- 41:59all the video of not only the Dirty Birds but also the entire league.
- 42:02It's Flow Sports dot tv. Yes, and there's a link or on the
- 42:07Dirty Birds website. Okays baseball dot com and that's there's a link that'll take
- 42:10you in flow sports to exactly where you need. Russures Go Dirty Birds and
- 42:15we'll be watching tonight and we'll be at the ballpark coming up on May ninth
- 42:20night. Yeah, home open, All right? Sounds good, Edan,

- 45:00good? Okay? Yeah, all right, that's working a little more right.
- 45:06Uh so we know for certain and I am going to get to ten
- 45:08questions coming up here in to a couple of moments. But we know for
- 45:10certain now that Jim Justice will be running for US Senate. That announcement made
- 45:14it the Greenbrier last night. No Donald Trump, which had been rumored,
- 45:17but it did get to Senator Lindsey Graham instead. Uh, quickly, I
- 45:22know you're not a big political guy, but your thoughts on Justice, because
- 45:25first we're gonna have uh, will have Justice versus Mooney matchup in a primary.
- 45:30Then that winner, which is going to be Justice possibly facing off against
- 45:35Joe Mansion if he decides to run, which many think, Uh, he
- 45:37won't. Did you catch the Joe Mansion of Bravado yesterday? Bt? He
- 45:42said yesterday, no matter what race I'm in, I will win it.
- 45:45I'll win. That's exactly what he said. He said. No, So
- 45:49he basically and you're an old scholastically saying he's going to stay in the Senate.
- 45:52Well, I mean, well, I mean there's rumors that he may
- 45:55run for president. Uh, there's been rumors that these rumors started a couple
- 46:00of years ago, and they're starting to reservice that he may come back and
- 46:01run for governor. That's been said before. But no matter what rates,
- 46:07says Joe Manson, that he enters, he's gonna win. He's kind of
- 46:10an old school wrestling guy there. I mean, he's got cloud. I'm
- 46:15thinking maybe Tully Blanchard. That's that. That's who that that's possibly who an
- 46:19old school wrestling fans will do. And I know Jeff Petty's a big wrestling
- 46:22fan. He's kind of he's kind of got that Tully Blanchard vibe going on.
- 46:24So we'll see what happens there. I have more on that covered up
- 46:28next week. Our governor BT referred to himself in his speech last night as
- 46:32as our COVID daddy, meaning he was the one that got us through COVID.
- 46:37So remember that he is your COVID daddy. Yeah. I feel like,
- 46:42you know, when the media comes to town, you know, the
- 46:44national media, and they're like, we're gonna find the most interesting hillbilly we
- 46:47can to put on the radio. And now we're putting him in the Senate
- 46:52or he's going to run for the Senate. I guess yeah, yeah,
- 46:57Tech says Hi Dave. I caught the very end of your conversation with a
- 47:00lady fro McCoy station. Could you please remind me of her first name,
- 47:02and may I use you as a reference. Her name is Courtney h.
- 47:07Courtney is her is her first name. And I don't know why why you
- 47:09would use Dave Allen as a reference for anything, but uh, but you
- 47:14know, go ahead and Courtney is her name. McCoy station is the restaurant.
- 47:16It's it's a great place. It's it's in downtown Logan, all right,
- 47:20Bet you're ready to play ten questions? All right? So the future
- 47:22I started when I started doing the whole guest host things, I had ten
- 47:27questions rapid fire. You have not read the questions. Please raise your right
- 47:30hand and say, I've not read the questions. I have not read the
- 47:32question ahead of time, which is the rule. Are you ready? Man?
- 47:36All right? I think here we go side dish with a burger,
- 47:40fries or the chips that have been all the rage in the last few years.
- 47:45Can I go with a second burger? There? Jeff? Can he
- 47:49go with a second burger? Yes, he can go with the second burger?
- 47:52Okay? Favorite action movie star man, that's a good question. I'm
- 48:01gonna go with h h Han solo, Han solo. Okay, first car,
- 48:12what was your first car Volkswagen Bug Okay, and not a nice one.
- 48:17Well, most people's first cars weren't nice. What is the name of
- 48:22the first pet you remember from your childhood? Ace? A childhood? Yeah?
- 48:30Ace? What was Ace? Was? Dog? Cat? Okay?
- 48:32All right? Musical question a musical act that you love that people would be
- 48:38surprised that you like. There's probably a lot of those. Um Um,
- 48:49you need you need some like music here, you need like some Just to
- 48:53give me one. We'll come back to that. One. First thing I
- 48:59do when I get up in the morning is you're an eight. Good.
- 49:05That's that's a good answer, especially that when you actually get out of bed
- 49:07to do it. That's good. Favorite sports team Chicago Cup. Say you're
- 49:13rocking the Cubs cap today. Man, you got to do that. You
- 49:15get three toppings on a pizza? What are those three toppings? Extra cheese,
- 49:21pepperoni, and anchovies? I love it. I love it. My
- 49:24my anchovies. Brother over here, I love anchovies. Okay. Larry Mo,
- 49:29Curly shimp or Curly Joe original, Curly original, curly all Right.
- 49:36The world would be a better place if if I wasn't in debt. The
- 49:43world to be in a better place if you weren't in debt, it would
- 49:45be a better place, better place for every better. But yeah, I
- 49:50mean I thought that's where you were going there. That's that's perfectly fine.
- 49:52That's why we That's why I ask you the questions. All right, let's
- 49:54go back to a musical question. Musical act that you love that people would
- 49:59be surprised to know that you like people would be surprised. Yeah, So
- 50:06if you're a rock guy as a country person, is it is it?
- 50:07Rap? Is it jazz? Is it? You know somebody that when they
- 50:10know you as this wild rock and roll uh DJ, as you were for
- 50:15many many years here in Charleston, what would they be surprised to know that
- 50:17you're actually listening to that I'm currently listening to or just a fan whatever.
- 50:22Yeah, I don't know. Let's roll with something crazy like Ray Stevens.
- 50:27Ray Stevens, Well, that's kind of it kind of goes with the whole
- 50:30comedy thing. I guess y, yeah, I guess you're right. Yeah,
- 50:31all right, my dad listened to that coming up, So it's like,
- 50:34all right, let me tell you a quick Ray Stevens story. Okay,
- 50:37you know everybody knows Ray Stevens for doing the streak and doing everything is
- 50:40beautiful guitars and Ray Stevens has got some great music that is that are like
- 50:46album cuts. It's nona. He did a on the Shriner's Convention album This
- 50:51is Way in the weeds here he did a song called the classic Hey There,
- 50:55the classic Torch song, Hey there you with the Stars. But he
- 50:59did it as performed by somebody named lips Leblonsky. And I'm not gonna sing
- 51:04it because it can't. But it was like, hey there you with the
- 51:06Pards and your go look it up on YouTube or something. All right,
- 51:10YouTube a right, all right? All right here, question said I've made
- 51:15I referenced Tully Blanchard, who was the aren't Anderson? Then you can't have
- 51:17one without the other tag tag champs. After all, I don't know who
- 51:22double A would be. I don't know who double A would be. I
- 51:24mean, I said, Mansion kind of had the Tully Blanchard thing going on.
- 51:27I don't know who who who Aren't Anderson would be? I have to
- 51:30maybe that's what we'll do, Jeff. One of these days that Jeff Petty,
- 51:34who's a big wrestling fan, is producing the show, I will sit
- 51:37down and we'll go over we'll go over the different political figures in West Virginia
- 51:40and who they equate to. But it's got to be old school because I
- 51:44quit watching wrestling in like nineteen ninety three. I'm okay with that, so
