- 0:06Speaker 1: This is Kevin Sports very daily right here on a radio,
- 0:09Speaker 1: folks then bringing you the folks that on high a
- 0:11Speaker 1: sports show. Well, we've got no guest today. Everybody seems
- 0:21Speaker 1: to be on holiday.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Sent me.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I've had mine before, it seems so long ago. But
- 0:26Speaker 1: we do have an in depth local cricket roundup. We've
- 0:29Speaker 1: got news of a football presentation for a man who's
- 0:32Speaker 1: been coaching for twenty five years, who got news of
- 0:40Speaker 1: my visits to Folks and Bowls Club, and a special
- 0:46Speaker 1: report on the soul Sisters of Coral Bay in Cyprus,
- 0:50Speaker 1: where I've been made an honorary member, And we got
- 1:02Speaker 1: plenty of local football news.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yes, it has started.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We do have guests penciled in over the next few weeks.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'll be telling you more about that in the next hour.
- 1:17Speaker 1: They settle down, put the kit along for an hour
- 1:19Speaker 1: of music and sport. As we start the show with
- 1:22Speaker 1: a belt remember this rolling stone? What an intro painted black.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I wanted into the.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Rolling Stone's there. I do love to get the show
- 2:05Speaker 1: on the road with a belter of a song. Get
- 2:08Speaker 1: you in the mood. Are you at work and your
- 2:11Speaker 1: lunch break. I'll have a little dance around the office.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Why not?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Okay, so it's time for some cricket news. Now the
- 2:17Speaker 1: cricket season is it's coming to an end, believe it
- 2:20Speaker 1: or not. So it's time to take an in depth
- 2:22Speaker 1: report on our local clubs and see how they're doing
- 2:25Speaker 1: this season. So let's start with Folks than first eleven. Well,
- 2:29Speaker 1: last Saturday they traveled away to play Dartford. They won
- 2:32Speaker 1: the toss, decided to bat, made two hundred and thirty
- 2:35Speaker 1: six all out, Ruderard Dunde top scorer with seventy seven
- 2:39Speaker 1: and Stuart Graham adding sixty two. However, Dartford made two
- 2:43Speaker 1: hundred and thirty nine for six, thanks mainly to one
- 2:46Speaker 1: hundred and twelve not out from James Thompson, so Dartford
- 2:49Speaker 1: won the game by four wickets. This Saturday is a
- 2:52Speaker 1: way to top of the table seven Oaks Now Folks
- 2:55Speaker 1: then play in the Championship Section, which is the second
- 2:58Speaker 1: tier of the Kent League. They've played thirteen of their
- 3:01Speaker 1: eighteen games and need a few wins to get them
- 3:03Speaker 1: away from the bottom end of the table as they
- 3:05Speaker 1: are currently sitting eighth out of ten teams and the
- 3:09Speaker 1: teams in ninth and tenth place will face relegation. So
- 3:12Speaker 1: and if you said they have a tough one on
- 3:16Speaker 1: Saturday as their opponents at seven Oaks are top of
- 3:19Speaker 1: the table. So let's move on to Hawkins. Now, I
- 3:23Speaker 1: may have missed Hawkins fixtures last week by not checking
- 3:26Speaker 1: the dates Lilly me because there is an odd number
- 3:29Speaker 1: of teams in Division eight Section and they didn't have
- 3:33Speaker 1: a game last Saturday. So it's this coming week the
- 3:36Speaker 1: top of the table Hawkins play second place Deal Victoria
- 3:39Speaker 1: and Barnes close and it's important the Deal keep their momentum,
- 3:43Speaker 1: keep their noses in front and stay on top because
- 3:45Speaker 1: it looks like only one team goes up. I have,
- 3:49Speaker 1: who are also in Division eight. Shepherd Section won the
- 3:52Speaker 1: toss at home to Ash Cricket Club. Decided to bat
- 3:55Speaker 1: and made one hundred and seventy one for six. Top
- 3:57Speaker 1: scorer was Dan Cowe with sixty. I've then bowled Ash
- 4:01Speaker 1: out for one hundred and forty nine, win the game
- 4:03Speaker 1: by twenty two runs. Now I ever having a good season,
- 4:07Speaker 1: currently in third place. This Saturday, they are away to
- 4:11Speaker 1: Betsanger Colliery. I've green Oo our seventh in Division nine.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Shepherd Section came up against the Informed top of the
- 4:19Speaker 1: table Edgerton and found them too strong. On the day,
- 4:23Speaker 1: Edgeton batted first to made one hundred and seventy five.
- 4:26Speaker 1: The Green could only make eighty two so lost the
- 4:28Speaker 1: game by ninety three runs. This Saturday, the Green are
- 4:31Speaker 1: at home to Tendendon who are in third place. Silverad
- 4:35Speaker 1: traveled to Thanet to play Nelson Cricket Club. Nelson batted
- 4:38Speaker 1: first made one hundred and fifty one for seven. Sialt
- 4:42Speaker 1: WD then made one hundred and five all out, which
- 4:44Speaker 1: was not enough so they lost the game by forty
- 4:46Speaker 1: six runs. This week they are home to fourth place
- 4:50Speaker 1: north Down, who also come from Margy over Thanet Way.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Now sil would Our in Division nine of the Shepherd
- 4:56Speaker 1: Section and are currently eighth out of ten teams with
- 4:59Speaker 1: five games left, so they could do with a good
- 5:01Speaker 1: win on Saturday and a couple more wins before the
- 5:04Speaker 1: end of the season. And finally, Sipton Park had a
- 5:07Speaker 1: tough time at home to Mersam Sports. The Sibs won
- 5:10Speaker 1: the toss, elected to bat and made one hundred and
- 5:13Speaker 1: forty three for six. Merselem then took to the crease
- 5:15Speaker 1: and made one hundred and forty seven with a loss
- 5:18Speaker 1: of just two wickets on Saturday is a visit to
- 5:21Speaker 1: Linton Park, just south of Maystone. Now the SIPs play
- 5:24Speaker 1: their cricket in Division five Hurricane Section and are currently
- 5:28Speaker 1: fourth out of ten teams, so that's not too bad.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So it's quite a steady old position there. So let's
- 5:34Speaker 1: sum up our local teams in their respective divisions. Folks
- 5:38Speaker 1: Don are eighth out of ten, Hawkins A top I
- 5:41Speaker 1: have a third, Iive Green a seventh out of ten,
- 5:44Speaker 1: Sward are eighth out of ten and Siptm Plark are
- 5:47Speaker 1: Sipton Park are fourth out of ten. So now I'll
- 5:52Speaker 1: keep bringing you the week by week scores and probably
- 5:55Speaker 1: do another in depth report going into well the second
- 5:58Speaker 1: last game and see if there's any really close you know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: things that hinge on the last couple of games, and
- 6:03Speaker 1: then obviously we wrap it up with the last games
- 6:05Speaker 1: of the season. Time for a bit of music now,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and this is Kelly Clarkson. Remember this one.
- 6:11Speaker 2: This is because of you, our man bag the same
- 6:31Speaker 2: mistakes Judy from twenty sixteen. There one Republic and wherever
- 6:54Speaker 2: I go.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Right now, let's have a little look back at my
- 6:58Speaker 1: sporty weekend. I had no race to compare. On a Saturday,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I was asked to make a small football presentation. Now,
- 7:06Speaker 1: Mickey and I has been a football coach for twenty
- 7:09Speaker 1: five years and finally decided to call it a day.
- 7:11Speaker 1: He's been coaching at schools all over Kent and every
- 7:14Speaker 1: Saturday morning he's been taking a class on the pitch
- 7:17Speaker 1: outside Lynn Village Hall. Now the mums of Lynn decided
- 7:21Speaker 1: to surprise him with a gathering of family. Loads of
- 7:23Speaker 1: his family turned up and even some former pupils going
- 7:27Speaker 1: back to his very first training session twenty five years ago. Now,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I personally first met Mickey down to Hive of twenty
- 7:34Speaker 1: five years ago.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I was about that time.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, when I was playing down there, I bumped him
- 7:39Speaker 1: to him every now and then, you know, like you do,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you get out of touch. But in recent months I've
- 7:43Speaker 1: been watching my seven year old grandson Reef enjoy taking
- 7:46Speaker 1: part in Mickey's coaching sections. Now to say he was
- 7:51Speaker 1: overwhelmed as an understatement as tributes and messages were read
- 7:54Speaker 1: out by myself over the PA system after listening to
- 7:58Speaker 1: some great footy music and O Matter Day, Free Lions
- 8:01Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Big thanks goes to Lisa and
- 8:05Speaker 1: the two Kyliees for secretly organizing the gathering, which was
- 8:09Speaker 1: a really huge successful morning.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It really was.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Now I've always known him as Mickey, right, but I
- 8:15Speaker 1: don't know why his name. He calls himself Mike. But
- 8:21Speaker 1: he was presented with this beautifully engraved plaque. He is
- 8:24Speaker 1: a glass plaque and this is the engraving that was
- 8:27Speaker 1: on it. It says, with our greatest appreciation, presented to
- 8:30Speaker 1: Coach Mike Knight, in recognition of your passion, leadership and
- 8:34Speaker 1: dedication to the game of football, your ability to inspire
- 8:38Speaker 1: greatness to shape the character and futures of countless players,
- 8:42Speaker 1: with gratitude for your twenty five years of commitment, mentorship
- 8:46Speaker 1: and excellence. Now, the morning was packed, you know, there
- 8:50Speaker 1: was loads of people. Lisa and the team got together.
- 8:53Speaker 1: There were some well cup football kicks and some excuse me,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and some hot dogs flying around, and everyone love to
- 9:01Speaker 1: come up and have a chat with him and to
- 9:03Speaker 1: have the picture done with him. And as I say,
- 9:05Speaker 1: there were some people there that actually were at the
- 9:08Speaker 1: very first coaching session twenty five years ago. I was
- 9:12Speaker 1: asked to go along and just had a bit of
- 9:14Speaker 1: music and a bit of fun and we had a
- 9:17Speaker 1: couple of guest speakers. One lady in particular, she was
- 9:21Speaker 1: a Dutch lady, and she told this story about her
- 9:26Speaker 1: husband who came over with her and he played a
- 9:30Speaker 1: bit of amateur football in Holland. And what Micky did.
- 9:34Speaker 1: He was at a tournament and no one knew this really,
- 9:36Speaker 1: but Micky introduced him as a Dutch international goalkeeper as
- 9:40Speaker 1: he's handed out the prizes, and it's something that Mick
- 9:43Speaker 1: has never forgotten. Anyway, I played some music, as I say,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and there was only one song that I could play
- 9:49Speaker 1: and belt out after we'd presented him with his trophy.
- 9:53Speaker 1: So sit back and listen to Tony Basil's Love or Hate.
- 9:57Speaker 1: This one is a Marmight song. It's called Hey Mickey.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Well let me go, Hey Mickey. I'll tell you what
- 10:33Speaker 1: people were really clapping and getting in the mood on Saturday,
- 10:36Speaker 1: as that was a little tribute to Mickey and I
- 10:38Speaker 1: who's been coaching for twenty five years and football coaching
- 10:43Speaker 1: and finally decided to call it a day.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Okay, So coming up.
- 10:46Speaker 1: After the next song, I'm going to tell you what
- 10:48Speaker 1: I got up to at the Folks and Bowls Club.
- 10:50Speaker 1: This is Anastasia and not that kind of All the.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Time that we speared twogether.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Anastasia not that kind of girl, And I think she's
- 11:09Speaker 1: trying to say she's not that kind of girl.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:11Speaker 1: That's from the year two thousand right now. Last Saturday afternoon,
- 11:16Speaker 1: I thought, what am I going to do?
- 11:17Speaker 3: You know?
- 11:18Speaker 1: So I decided to take myself off to the folks
- 11:20Speaker 1: and Bowls Club and see what's going on. It's just
- 11:23Speaker 1: a while, it's a while since I reported on the
- 11:25Speaker 1: game of bowls, you know. I found out there was
- 11:27Speaker 1: indeed a friendly game in progress between Folkston and Sheritan
- 11:30Speaker 1: Bowls Club. So I bought myself a paint and settled
- 11:33Speaker 1: down in the sunny, peaceful and tranquil surroundings and watched
- 11:37Speaker 1: them play. Now I don't begin to understand the rules
- 11:41Speaker 1: or the finer points of the game, but I faoroughly
- 11:43Speaker 1: enjoyed my quite afternoon. It was so relaxing down there.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It just made a total change from some of the
- 11:49Speaker 1: sporting environments that I get to.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Here it's all.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Noise and music and shouting, but it was so peaceful,
- 11:55Speaker 1: it was lovely. Now there wasn't just one game going
- 11:58Speaker 1: on the green. There was six, six games on the
- 12:00Speaker 1: green all at once. I had a quick chat with
- 12:03Speaker 1: two of my friends who were playing. It was nice
- 12:05Speaker 1: to see Nigel and Denese Punnet and found out that
- 12:08Speaker 1: in those six games there were thirty six people involved.
- 12:12Speaker 1: From a distance, I saw Cheron Bowls Club, my Cheriton
- 12:15Speaker 1: Bowls Club contact Peter Bamford, but I didn't go over
- 12:19Speaker 1: as it was their two break and they all seem
- 12:21Speaker 1: to be engrossed in talking tactics and I didn't want
- 12:24Speaker 1: to spoil it. So however, Peter did contact me with
- 12:28Speaker 1: some up to date news. Now he told me that
- 12:31Speaker 1: Rose James from the Folkston Bowls Club will be at
- 12:33Speaker 1: the National Finals in Leamington after qualifying in the ladies'
- 12:37Speaker 1: under seventeenth singles, and Daniel Bagent from Folkston Park Bowls
- 12:42Speaker 1: Club in Radne Park on the corner there as also
- 12:45Speaker 1: qualified in the under seventeenth singles. Both play their games
- 12:49Speaker 1: on the Thursday, the fourteenth of August.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Now, this is a.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Great achievement for the both, especially for Rose as it's
- 12:56Speaker 1: her first season playing bowls outdoors. Now you've got to remember,
- 13:00Speaker 1: but this is the National Final. We've said this before
- 13:02Speaker 1: when it comes around from Lymington Spa It's like the
- 13:06Speaker 1: Wembley is to football, the Twickenham is to rugby, the
- 13:09Speaker 1: Wimbledon is to tennis. Lemington Spa is to bowls. It's
- 13:13Speaker 1: the national final. You cannot get any higher in this
- 13:16Speaker 1: country if you get to a national final. And also
- 13:21Speaker 1: former Charitan member and former guest of the show Leah Bamford,
- 13:24Speaker 1: who has now moved to Essex. She's qualified for the
- 13:26Speaker 1: Ladies two Wood singles and plays her first game on
- 13:30Speaker 1: the Wednesday, the eighteenth of August. Now you can tell
- 13:33Speaker 1: thereby the age of those youngsters there, Rose and Daniel
- 13:39Speaker 1: that they are still in their teens. So this stigma
- 13:42Speaker 1: of bowls being for a senior person, if you like,
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's a job to get it lifted, you know, because
- 13:48Speaker 1: there are plenty and plenty of young people playing the game.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I do hope to get Leah Bamford and her dad
- 13:55Speaker 1: Peter in the studio. We're just trying to work out
- 13:58Speaker 1: a date Leah when she comes down to see a
- 14:01Speaker 1: family from Essex. It's going to drop me a line
- 14:03Speaker 1: and hopefully pop in and see us. Now it's a
- 14:06Speaker 1: bit double edge really because I want to do a
- 14:08Speaker 1: little special on Sherit and Bulbs Club and Leah was
- 14:11Speaker 1: one of my guests many years ago when she came
- 14:14Speaker 1: in with three other young ladies and it was just
- 14:17Speaker 1: a momentous morning.
- 14:19Speaker 2: It really was.
- 14:20Speaker 1: No one had ever heard of these girls and they
- 14:23Speaker 1: represented Kent and represented England later on, and it was
- 14:28Speaker 1: just a story that went under the radar. It's one
- 14:30Speaker 1: of my all time favorite stories. And added to that,
- 14:33Speaker 1: Leah is hoping to run the Brighton Marathon, so she's
- 14:38Speaker 1: going to tell us about that. So that's really a
- 14:40Speaker 1: date to look forward to. And I'll be letting you
- 14:42Speaker 1: know when we can get them in. Okay, time for
- 14:45Speaker 1: any music now? And this is the Stereophonics and taken
- 14:49Speaker 1: a tumble Veriophonics there in a tumble.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Do you know what? There's something that Missus Ferrett does.
- 15:05Speaker 2: She goes out for a run.
- 15:06Speaker 1: We were in Cypress. I keep going on about Cypress,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but you know I've got a soft spot for Cypress.
- 15:12Speaker 2: We were in Cypress.
- 15:13Speaker 1: And she decided to go for a run and without me,
- 15:18Speaker 1: which was good, and so for a bit of peace
- 15:22Speaker 1: and quiet for a little while. So she goes and
- 15:24Speaker 1: what does she do She comes back covered in blood. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 1: she took a tumble and went flying and cut her
- 15:30Speaker 1: knee and cut her hand open. And it's not the
- 15:33Speaker 1: first time she's done it. You know. She takes her
- 15:35Speaker 1: eye off the ball and it's she's got a nose
- 15:38Speaker 1: in the dust.
- 15:39Speaker 2: But so that song was for her, for.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Suda taking a tumble and the other person that did
- 15:46Speaker 1: take a tumble recently, but she's recovered.
- 15:49Speaker 3: It's Julie Gibbs.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Julie, Yes, Julia.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Unfortunately, she took a tumble along the seafront there at Hive.
- 15:57Speaker 1: She was off on a run, all keen to go
- 15:59Speaker 1: bomb down. She goes like a sack of potatoes. But
- 16:03Speaker 1: she's okay now having a little chuckle about it. I'll
- 16:06Speaker 1: tell you what's dangerous this running, isn't it?
- 16:08Speaker 3: Okay?
- 16:08Speaker 1: Talking of running, I'm going to after this song, I'm
- 16:11Speaker 1: going to be talking about the Soul Sisters in Cypress.
- 16:14Speaker 1: There is a special I know it's not local folks
- 16:16Speaker 1: the news, but if I've got a great connection with
- 16:18Speaker 1: these people. So listen to this song by Busted and
- 16:22Speaker 1: I'll tell you about the Soul Sisters in Cypress after this.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Track, Thunderbird Are Go.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You remember Thunderbirds? Are you that you remember them?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Well, I do, because I used to live in Borenwood,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you know, and the Thunderbirds and all that sort of
- 16:49Speaker 1: stuff was made at the studios, and the studios in
- 16:52Speaker 1: Boorenwood were a source of employment. A bit like power station,
- 16:56Speaker 1: bit like you're a tunnel, a bit like this, you know,
- 16:59Speaker 1: the dot. A lot of people used to work at
- 17:02Speaker 1: the Boringwood studios, and not just in the films, you know,
- 17:05Speaker 1: there was lots of other trades. There was electricians, carpenters,
- 17:09Speaker 1: you know, people that were doing the sets, painters and decorators.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It really was a hive of industry, sadly you know
- 17:15Speaker 1: more but the actual studios there they made all sorts
- 17:20Speaker 1: of classic things like Danger Man, the Avengers and the
- 17:26Speaker 1: great film that was made in Boringwood. And there's been
- 17:28Speaker 1: loads of pictures on Facebook is on the buses and
- 17:32Speaker 1: now we know on the buses was once a week show,
- 17:35Speaker 1: but they did a full length feature and it was
- 17:37Speaker 1: made all around the streets of Boringwood where I was
- 17:39Speaker 1: brought up. And there's one particular shot. It was right
- 17:43Speaker 1: outside my front door and the bus comes down the hill.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Blake was standing by the bus and there was a massive,
- 17:50Speaker 1: massive puddle and what does the bus driver do? Of
- 17:53Speaker 1: course he goes ridge varney, isn't it It goes straight through
- 17:56Speaker 1: the puddle and soaks him. How many times they took
- 17:58Speaker 1: that to get the shot right?
- 18:00Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Anyway, that was a little bit about Boringwood of my childhood.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I could go on forever about that because it was
- 18:06Speaker 1: really good fun times. So but I did say I
- 18:10Speaker 1: was going to tell you about the Soul Sisters now.
- 18:12Speaker 1: As you know, me and missus Ferrett do like our
- 18:14Speaker 1: Cyperus holidays, and over the years we've got to make
- 18:17Speaker 1: loads and loads of friends over there, especially members of
- 18:19Speaker 1: the Pathos Running Club. Well, a few weeks ago I
- 18:22Speaker 1: mentioned the ladies section and played Hey Soul Sister by
- 18:25Speaker 1: train and sent a Joe you a little two minute
- 18:27Speaker 1: clip which ended up on the Soul Sisters Facebook page.
- 18:31Speaker 1: When played it back in a nice way, though it
- 18:33Speaker 1: sounded like all they did was me up, drink coffee
- 18:36Speaker 1: and eat cake, so I wanted to put that right.
- 18:39Speaker 1: There is much more to the Pathwas Running Club and
- 18:41Speaker 1: the Soul Sisters, and I felt I owe it to
- 18:44Speaker 1: them to explain what else they do now the Soul Sisters,
- 18:48Speaker 1: which they've since made me an honor re member. You know, yeah,
- 18:51Speaker 1: I'm going to get a badge. I hope it's made
- 18:55Speaker 1: up of ladies only, but in recent times they've accepted
- 18:58Speaker 1: men into the group and they are Soul Misters. They
- 19:02Speaker 1: meet three mornings a week for a run around the
- 19:04Speaker 1: pathwass region and welcome new members. They are mostly expats
- 19:07Speaker 1: and they have formed a group who support each other
- 19:10Speaker 1: and offer encouragement to their fellow runners as they're all
- 19:13Speaker 1: at different levels now. One member, Jackie Maison, I hope
- 19:16Speaker 1: we've got that right. Jackie or Jackie Mizzen, told me
- 19:19Speaker 1: how much the Soul Sisters supported her when she went
- 19:22Speaker 1: through her breast cancer. The Soul's Sisters helped to organize
- 19:25Speaker 1: the club's charity fundraiser called the Breast of Friends. This
- 19:29Speaker 1: is a round jog walk event where pink is the
- 19:32Speaker 1: themed color that sound familiar and is held every year
- 19:36Speaker 1: in October. In fact, one year we did go out
- 19:38Speaker 1: in October. I think it was one of the many
- 19:42Speaker 1: times that we went out. We normally go in November December,
- 19:45Speaker 1: but we went out in October and we actually took
- 19:47Speaker 1: part in this.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Event and it was great.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And I recently found out that over the years, this
- 19:52Speaker 1: event has raised nearly twenty thousand euros, which is around
- 19:55Speaker 1: about eighteen thousand pound now. The money goes towards buying
- 19:59Speaker 1: spe the Shore Hospital beds lymphidemer sleeves. Now that is interesting.
- 20:04Speaker 1: They are a compression sleeve for the relief and prevention
- 20:08Speaker 1: of swollen upper limbs due to post mastectomy, radiological and
- 20:13Speaker 1: chemotherapy treatments. They offer financial support for taxes so that
- 20:18Speaker 1: cancer patients can get to their appointments, and they organize
- 20:21Speaker 1: coffee and fundraising mournings for cancer support and to promote
- 20:25Speaker 1: the awareness of prostate cancer as well as breast cancer.
- 20:28Speaker 1: And they do make a contribution to the local hospice. Now,
- 20:32Speaker 1: of course this is the main thing. They do love
- 20:34Speaker 1: their running and they do love the camaraderie that is
- 20:37Speaker 1: generated when they meet up. And I'm so glad I've
- 20:39Speaker 1: been able to share with everybody just what else they
- 20:42Speaker 1: do to help others in the Cypress community. I want
- 20:45Speaker 1: if Jackie Misn't and the Boss Zoe Caudry, for their
- 20:49Speaker 1: input into this report, which has been invaluable. Now we'll
- 20:52Speaker 1: be back in Cypress in November and we'll try and
- 20:54Speaker 1: meet up with the soul Sisters for coffee and cake.
- 20:57Speaker 2: In the meantime.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I'm now, as I said, an honorary member. And you
- 21:01Speaker 1: know that it's not just people in England, it's they
- 21:05Speaker 1: are expats that think about others in the community. You know,
- 21:10Speaker 1: once again we've got a group of runners that get together.
- 21:13Speaker 1: They've also got a cycling section, a walk in section,
- 21:17Speaker 1: and they have great fun nights. But they also do
- 21:19Speaker 1: a lot for local community. And if you're ever out
- 21:23Speaker 1: in Pathos, please please before you go, just check out
- 21:26Speaker 1: their website or their Facebook page and you fancy your
- 21:29Speaker 1: run or a jog, then they would really welcome you.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Now I've been I've been looking through the playlist and
- 21:37Speaker 1: I found this great track and this I'm gonna play this.
- 21:39Speaker 1: This is the one for me, really, this is one
- 21:42Speaker 1: for me to welcome me into the Soul Sisters running group.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And it's called Sam and Dave soul Man. What a
- 21:49Speaker 1: great song for the occasions.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Local radio station radio focus.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Then but a Sammer day there and that was for
- 22:15Speaker 1: my introduction to the Soul Sisters. I am now a
- 22:18Speaker 1: solemn on a re member of the Soul Sisters Pathos
