- 0:00OK, so let's unpack this. We're looking at the
- 0:01World Government Summit 2026 Partners. And the
- 0:04headline is Summit Shapes Government Policy,
- 0:07Advances Well -Being of People. Right. And this
- 0:10is the major global event in Dubai happening
- 0:13from February 3rd to 5th. It's where all the
- 0:17key decision makers and experts gather. They're
- 0:19there to talk visions, find solutions for sustainable
- 0:22development. It's a huge deal. And for our deep
- 0:25dive, what's really interesting is the focus
- 0:27on the sustainable energy partner. We're really
- 0:29going to see how things like smart transformation
- 0:31and AI are shaping the future of energy. Exactly.
- 0:35And the partner driving that conversation, the
- 0:37sustainable energy partner, is Dubai Electricity
- 0:40and Water Authority. That's right. And the person
- 0:43really spearheading this is His Excellency Saeed
- 0:46Mohammed Al -Tayr, who is the managing director
- 0:48and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
- 0:51And from what I'm seeing... His vision for smart
- 0:54transformation is central to everything. It feels
- 0:57like AI isn't just a tool for them. It's the
- 1:00foundation. You've hit it exactly. And you can
- 1:02really hear that commitment in his own words.
- 1:04He said, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority
- 1:06is participating as the sustainable energy partner
- 1:09at the World Government Summit, showcasing its
- 1:11leadership in smart transformation and its role
- 1:14in promoting innovation and economic growth through
- 1:17the application of artificial intelligence in
- 1:19the energy and water networks. The energy sector
- 1:22is witnessing a rapid global transformation,
- 1:24requiring more resilient and efficient infrastructure.
- 1:27In line with the vision of the WISE leadership,
- 1:30the UAE continues to consolidate its position
- 1:32in artificial intelligence and is steadily progressing
- 1:35towards achieving climate net zero target by
- 1:372050, reinforcing its lead in building a sustainable
- 1:41green future. That net zero by 2050 target is
- 1:44obviously significant. But what really jumps
- 1:47out at me is the pace. It just feels like they're
- 1:49not just meeting targets, they're accelerating
- 1:51them, especially with their clean energy strategy.
- 1:54They absolutely are. And he spoke directly to
- 1:56that point. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Altair
- 1:59added, In Dubai, the clean energy and net zero
- 2:02carbon emissions strategies are driving an ambitious
- 2:05path to reach 100 % clean energy by 2050. The
- 2:08Mohammed bin Rasht Al Maktoum Solar Park illustrates
- 2:11this ambition where AI enhances project efficiency.
- 2:15Well, we are on track to exceed 36 % clean energy
- 2:18from the energy mix by 2030, with the production
- 2:21capacity of the solar part exceeding 8 ,000 megawatts,
- 2:24surpassing the original plan of 5 ,000 megawatts.
- 2:27Wait, hold on a second. Did you catch that last
- 2:28part? The jump in capacity? Yeah. They didn't
- 2:30just meet the plan. They blew past it. Going
- 2:33from a target of 5 ,000 megawatts to actually
- 2:35producing over 8 ,000. That's just incredible.
- 2:38It is a massive leap. So how does that translate
- 2:40to the day -to -day? I mean, how are they actually
- 2:42integrating AI to manage that kind of power effectively?
- 2:45Well, it's a completely comprehensive integration.
- 2:48We're talking digital arms, green data centers.
- 2:50The entire system is being made intelligent.
- 2:53On this, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayr
- 2:56said, At Dubai Electricity and Water Authority,
- 2:59we are integrating artificial intelligence into
- 3:01all our operations, from generation and transmission
- 3:04to distribution and digital services, and then
- 3:07expanded through digital DWA, our digital arm,
- 3:10the green data centers of our Mora subsidiary,
- 3:13and others. As a result of these efforts, Dubai
- 3:16Electricity and Water Authority leads globally
- 3:18in 13 key performance indicators, KPIs, in its
- 3:22areas of operation and continues to support the
- 3:25economy through a world -class reliable energy
- 3:27and water infrastructure that attracts investment
- 3:29and supports sustainable growth. In Dubai, our
- 3:32customers enjoy the shortest customer minutes
- 3:34lost in the world, less than one minute annually.
- 3:36We also have the world's lowest electricity transmission
- 3:39and distribution network losses, 2%, and the
- 3:42water network losses do not exceed. at 4 .5%,
- 3:45which is among the lowest rates worldwide. Wow,
- 3:47those numbers are just, they're staggering, aren't
- 3:50they? They really are. The shortest customer
- 3:52minutes lost, less than one minute a year for
- 3:56an entire city. That's, you know, that's basically
- 3:58perfect reliability. And then you see the network
- 4:01losses, 2 % for electricity, under 4 .5 % for
- 4:04water. Those are world leading figures. It just
- 4:06puts the efficiency into such sharp perspective.
- 4:09Absolutely. And it shows exactly how Dubai electricity
- 4:12and water authority is underpinning the whole
- 4:15economy. That kind of world class, reliable infrastructure
- 4:19is what attracts investment and enables sustainable
- 4:22growth. It really sets a new benchmark. Yeah.
- 4:25And it leaves you thinking, you know, these achievements
- 4:27in Dubai aren't just local success stories. They're
- 4:29effectively creating a new global standard for
- 4:31what utility infrastructure can and should be.
- 4:34Thanks for listening to this deep dive.
