Forest and Bird weighs in on proposed beach vehicle ban
Whangarei District Council is looking at softening a proposed bylaw change outlawing vehicles on a number of beaches after community pushback. Last month's council meeting saw 20 submitters, with varying ideas about what they wanted done. In response, council staff have recommended watering down one of the most contentious proposals, a roughly six-kilometre vehicle ban at Uretiti South, near Ruakaka.
