Let's start with one of my favorite snacks: samosa. In Telugu, 'samosa' is సమోసా. Luna: సమోసా. I love samosas. Lucas: To say 'I want a samosa', you say 'నాకు సమోసా కావాలి'. Let's break it down: నాకు means 'to me' or 'I want', సమోసా, and కావాలి means 'want'. Luna: నాకు సమోసా కావాలి. Lucas: Great. Now try saying 'I want a bajji' — బజ్జీ is another popular snack. So: నాకు బజ్జీ కావాలి. Luna: నాకు బజ్జీ కావాలి. Easy. Lucas: Now, what if you want to see the menu? You can say 'మెనూ కార్డ్ ఇవ్వండి' — 'Give me the menu card'. మెనూ కార్డ్, ఇవ్వండి. Luna: మెనూ కార్డ్ ఇవ్వండి. That's polite, right? Lucas: Yes, ఇవ్వండి is the respectful way to say 'give'. Luna: So I can say 'మెనూ కార్డ్ ఇవ్వండి' when I sit down. Lucas: Exactly. And after you order, the waiter might ask 'ఇంకేమైనా కావాలా?' — 'Do you want anything else?' ఇంకేమైనా means 'anything else', కావాలా is 'do you want?' Luna: ఇంకేమైనా కావాలా? So if I'm done, I say 'వద్దు' or 'అంతే'. Lucas: Right. Or if you want more, you can say the item again. Let's practice a mini dialogue. I'll be the waiter. Luna: Okay. Lucas: మెనూ కార్డ్ ఇవ్వండి. Luna: Here you go. Lucas: నాకు సమోసా కావాలి. Luna: ఇంకేమైనా కావాలా? Lucas: నాకు బజ్జీ కావాలి. Luna: Good. Now you try with me switching. I'll be the customer. Lucas: Let's do it.
