- 0:13Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm your host, Colleen Witt, and today we have Ties
- 0:19Speaker 1: of vot in the Building, creator of Loving Listenings on
- 0:22Speaker 1: v H one, and founder of Agents in La, Agents
- 0:26Speaker 1: of La of La. My bad. I'm sorry, I'm starving.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It's noon over here and we have a table full
- 0:36Speaker 1: of food and I'm dying to know what you're gonna
- 0:39Speaker 1: have me eating while you're broke. But where you're gonna
- 0:43Speaker 1: have me eating today.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Well, we don't have organic turkey, but we are going
- 0:49Speaker 2: to do some tacos.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You're gonna do tacos. Everyone loves tacos. And what I
- 0:55Speaker 1: like about tai guys, just so you know is I
- 0:57Speaker 1: was trying not to bother you and text you too much.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I was like, okay, you're doing tacos, Like what are
- 1:02Speaker 1: the ingredients? And I didn't want to pester you, so
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was like, you know what, I'll just I'll just
- 1:07Speaker 1: get typical taco ingredients. But Ty was really cool. He
- 1:10Speaker 1: was like, you're you're missing a couple of things. I'm
- 1:12Speaker 1: gonna go shop and I'm gonna I'm gonna bring the
- 1:15Speaker 1: missing ingredients for you, So go ahead, tell us what
- 1:17Speaker 1: the ingredients are for today's tacos.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Well, we got the onions, obviously, every good taco has
- 1:24Speaker 2: a little sprinkle onions. And then we have these peppers,
- 1:28Speaker 2: you know, I mean I like everything spicy, obviously that
- 1:31Speaker 2: I'm tie and you know I love all the different
- 1:35Speaker 2: kinds of pepper types, ghost peppers, you know, to tie
- 1:37Speaker 2: chili peppers. So I had to bring that to bring
- 1:40Speaker 2: the fire avocado, right, okay, I mean that's just like
- 1:44Speaker 2: that boogie.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that you were eating avocado when you were broke.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Though I think I was picking picking them up from
- 1:51Speaker 2: the trees. But my dad had them all right, So I.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Was like, okay, okay, I could I could respect that
- 1:57Speaker 1: with the taco shells, the lettuce, the cheese, the salt,
- 2:00Speaker 1: so all of it hrking me hot sauce. I love
- 2:04Speaker 1: that you brought these hot sauce packets and you were
- 2:06Speaker 1: like really gunn hull about them.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I mean, you get these things for like free taco bell.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Right, not anymore though? Don't they charge?
- 2:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean there's teenagers working there.
- 2:14Speaker 1: They give them, you know, when I go and I'm like,
- 2:16Speaker 1: can I get an extra answer? Like you need to
- 2:18Speaker 1: order five more nuggets for that.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I'm like, no, where are you going?
- 2:22Speaker 1: I haven't done it, but every once in a while
- 2:24Speaker 1: it happens to me. It's like when I go to
- 2:25Speaker 1: grocery store and they charge you five cents for a bag.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I don't know why. Infury furiates me. I'm like, yo,
- 2:33Speaker 1: are you really counting the bags?
- 2:35Speaker 2: Well, I mean it's that stupid law right where the
- 2:40Speaker 2: recycle law where they have to like tax everything. I mean,
- 2:43Speaker 2: well maybe that's just another tax law, right.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I don't is it a real law or is it
- 2:46Speaker 1: just they're trying to make some money. California being California
- 2:50Speaker 1: is the only city there.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we we have a lot to say about that.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But I tell people all the time in California, you're
- 2:55Speaker 1: just paying for the weather. You're playing a premium for
- 2:58Speaker 1: the weather, are we them?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Because it's just like some like who bunch of seating
- 3:01Speaker 2: in the clouds and.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I like the weather every there's no other city that
- 3:05Speaker 1: compares weatherwise.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I mean, is consistently. I feel like, because yeah, that's
- 3:12Speaker 2: a whole other topic.
- 3:13Speaker 1: That's a whole other topic. So go ahead, start cooking
- 3:15Speaker 1: up this dish, and while you're cooking. Take me back
- 3:19Speaker 1: to what was going on in the days of there's
- 3:23Speaker 1: a lot of things going on. Oh, you know what.
- 3:25Speaker 1: The first two knobs are your the knobs you're cooking on.
- 3:29Speaker 2: You know what the problem is? Guys all guys, well,
- 3:33Speaker 2: well understand this. We try to cook things as fast
- 3:36Speaker 2: as possible. Okay, women, everything is like xanax, right, everything
- 3:40Speaker 2: is like so relaxed. I'm goen I have a good time.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But guys, it's high and cook the ship fast.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Okay, that's good because I'm starving. Cook it, don't burn it.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And then for us, all right, cool, good.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And then this is electric Okay, you got.
- 3:56Speaker 2: It, all right.
- 3:57Speaker 1: So I'm assuming that these tacos was a staple at
- 4:01Speaker 1: some period in your life. Take me back to what
- 4:04Speaker 1: was going on during this the taco bell tie phase
- 4:06Speaker 1: of your life.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I mean, there's been a few times in my life
- 4:10Speaker 2: right where you know, you overspend and you want to
- 4:16Speaker 2: you want to keep up with the Joneses, right, So
- 4:19Speaker 2: keeping up with the Joneses, it's like a certain kind
- 4:22Speaker 2: of attire. You have to dress in a certain kind
- 4:25Speaker 2: of facade. You have to keep up. And in that
- 4:27Speaker 2: it's if you don't have the foundation right built out.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You know you can go broken then, right. So I
- 4:36Speaker 2: have had many times in my life where I've had
- 4:40Speaker 2: my ego getting the way and I've purchased bigger items
- 4:45Speaker 2: than I probably could afford it. Right, I've always had
- 4:47Speaker 2: really nice things, nice houses, brand new, nice cars. I
- 4:51Speaker 2: mean right now, I think I've had over thirty five
- 4:53Speaker 2: different kind of cars. Wow. You know I've probably spent
- 4:57Speaker 2: maybe over a million dollars in cars.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Wow.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of people can't say that now.
- 5:02Speaker 1: But take me back to your home life, like you're
- 5:04Speaker 1: growing up prior to all of this middle class.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Rich Okay, so this is the thing, right, home life.
- 5:13Speaker 2: My grandfather and my father are from Thailand, right from
- 5:19Speaker 2: a third world country, and they came over to the
- 5:21Speaker 2: States and where they met my mom. Right. My dad
- 5:25Speaker 2: and very modest. My family in Thailand is very predominant,
- 5:30Speaker 2: but my dad did not like the politics and decided
- 5:33Speaker 2: that he wanted to live a very humble life and
- 5:36Speaker 2: so moved out to the valley where he met my mom. Right.
- 5:39Speaker 2: My mom also had humble upbringings, but my grandfather on
- 5:46Speaker 2: my mother's side did inherit quite a bit, but she
- 5:50Speaker 2: never ever took anything from her family. So we have
- 5:53Speaker 2: two individuals that had you know, these these prides that
- 5:58Speaker 2: wanted to do things everything by themselves, right. So it
- 6:01Speaker 2: was always that you know, if I take some with
- 6:03Speaker 2: my family, then I owe them something, right. So my
- 6:07Speaker 2: mom struggled. She had my sister, my oldest brother, my
- 6:13Speaker 2: well I'm the middle, I guess, my older brother. So
- 6:15Speaker 2: there's four kids essentially, right, So she struggled to try
- 6:20Speaker 2: to raise us. She had multiple husbands that failed, and
- 6:24Speaker 2: you know, just trying to make ends meets right, and
- 6:27Speaker 2: then you know, meeting after meeting my dad. You know,
- 6:29Speaker 2: my dad was very frugal with money, you know, because
- 6:32Speaker 2: he didn't have anybody to call, right, He wasn't calling
- 6:35Speaker 2: back in Thailand and Mom, can I borrow some money?
- 6:37Speaker 2: None of that stuff. So he worked as a bartender
- 6:41Speaker 2: and which was not like a very noble job, right,
- 6:44Speaker 2: but he saved up enough money to buy a piece
- 6:47Speaker 2: of real estate. And he bought that first piece was
- 6:51Speaker 2: an eleven unit, you know, which I don't even know
- 6:54Speaker 2: how he did this, but what he did was, which
- 6:57Speaker 2: was super cool, is he bought these pieces of real
- 7:00Speaker 2: estate from I want to say, like Palm dar l
- 7:02Speaker 2: Lancaster pulled them out of the ground, right and cut
- 7:06Speaker 2: them in half and then moved him actually in I
- 7:09Speaker 2: want to say our Leita, California, so eleven years.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Give me he really uprooted it.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, First off, how do you think about that?
- 7:17Speaker 2: How do you do that stuff?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Like hey, on a whole other level?
- 7:20Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah, I mean it's it's really cool. I'm
- 7:22Speaker 2: not trying to burn this but no, no.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I mean each fire is low. It seems maybe it's
- 7:26Speaker 1: just the.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to make it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Out of it, because your story is really interesting. So
- 7:33Speaker 1: your mom had the kid, the four kids after him,
- 7:37Speaker 1: or there was this after after him.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But I'm just kind of giving a little bit of backstory.
- 7:41Speaker 2: You know who my mom is. It's not like she's
- 7:43Speaker 2: taking money from our family. You know, my dad hasn't
- 7:46Speaker 2: taken any money from the family, so you know, they
- 7:48Speaker 2: really had to do it themselves.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And did you guys know it growing up? That's your
- 7:52Speaker 1: your relatives had money. Was it kind of frustrating a
- 7:55Speaker 1: little bit at times? Or no?
- 7:58Speaker 2: You know what, when you have a certain amount of love,
- 8:01Speaker 2: money can't replace it, right, So you on a homework
- 8:05Speaker 2: cart by the way probably, yeah, but it's just how
- 8:07Speaker 2: I feel.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So no, that was beautiful. That was like the most
- 8:10Speaker 1: beautiful sentence ever.
- 8:12Speaker 2: You know, when your daughter looks at you and gives
- 8:14Speaker 2: you a hug. You know, yes, sure it's great that
- 8:16Speaker 2: you bought the brand new bike, but that hug that
- 8:20Speaker 2: as apparently you feel that you know, it means more
- 8:23Speaker 2: than the bike. Mom. If you can afford it, you know,
- 8:25Speaker 2: that's amazing. But your love is always going to cover
- 8:28Speaker 2: me and everything that I need. Right, And you know,
- 8:31Speaker 2: it reminds me of that story obviously with the Ukrainian
- 8:34Speaker 2: War and a lot of these politics that you know
- 8:38Speaker 2: we're seeing with this war. Right, And there was this
- 8:40Speaker 2: this starving child right with her mom and she she
- 8:44Speaker 2: must have been like seven or eight years old, and
- 8:46Speaker 2: her mom was in the background. They were doing an interview,
- 8:48Speaker 2: and she told the cameras that she doesn't want to
- 8:52Speaker 2: upset her mom and that she doesn't want her to
- 8:56Speaker 2: feel the pain that she's suffering, and that even though
- 8:59Speaker 2: her stomach was growling right, growling, she said that she
- 9:03Speaker 2: didn't want her mom to suffer. Okay, a little girls
- 9:06Speaker 2: did that? You know. So when I see stories and
- 9:10Speaker 2: hear stories about that kind of stuff, you know, purity
- 9:14Speaker 2: children that really look after us versus we looking after them.
- 9:18Speaker 2: You know. That's why it's so important to really make
- 9:21Speaker 2: sure we take care of our children and never have
- 9:23Speaker 2: them suffer. But it's so sad to see that the
- 9:25Speaker 2: child was taking care of her parent and because the mom,
- 9:28Speaker 2: the mother felt so bad that she could not, you know,
- 9:31Speaker 2: get her daughter food because you know, when they were
- 9:34Speaker 2: trying to get food for the daughter, they were blowing
- 9:36Speaker 2: up people. And this was in the Middle East, right,
- 9:38Speaker 2: And I'm not trying to pick sides, but regardless, anytimes
- 9:40Speaker 2: there's kids involved and a mother involved, you know, there
- 9:43Speaker 2: is no sides to me. There's what's right and what's
- 9:45Speaker 2: wrong exactly. And it was just very disheartening that we
- 9:48Speaker 2: would even do that. And it makes you it makes
- 9:51Speaker 2: you think that, you know, love is so beautiful and
- 9:55Speaker 2: it fills your soul and it fills your gut right
- 9:58Speaker 2: with everything you might need, you know. So that's probably
- 10:01Speaker 2: the best meal you could ever have.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So you're going back to your dad uprooting
- 10:07Speaker 1: these buildings. You were you were how old when you
- 10:11Speaker 1: witnessed this whole endeavor?
- 10:16Speaker 2: You know to which part I mean I mean there's
- 10:19Speaker 2: certain parts of my childhood that for some reason it's
- 10:21Speaker 2: just really unclear. My mom got through it, got through
- 10:24Speaker 2: a divorce with my father. My father was cheating on her,
- 10:27Speaker 2: which probably most men do. Yeah, why you say that?
- 10:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, shout out to my husband. He knows that,
- 10:38Speaker 1: he knows that I talk smack. But yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: shout outs to him. He gave me the four one
- 10:43Speaker 1: one education.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I'm just saying, you know.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But yeah, okay, so he cheated and then your mom
- 10:48Speaker 1: was like I'm out.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom is out. I mean it's I think
- 10:53Speaker 2: it's different back in the day, and maybe it's not.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I mean, at first of I don't want to get
- 10:56Speaker 2: smack right now. So you know, there's needs and there's
- 11:02Speaker 2: a lot of like anxiety when especially when you don't
- 11:05Speaker 2: have the money that you you know, you see all
- 11:07Speaker 2: your friends have, right, So like sometimes there's an escape,
- 11:11Speaker 2: like me say, me and you, right, you know, we're
- 11:13Speaker 2: in a relationship, we have we have kids, and you
- 11:17Speaker 2: know maybe that we're fighting so much that we tend
- 11:22Speaker 2: to forget about us, right, and we have to stress
- 11:25Speaker 2: because what are the stress? Stress is really about not
- 11:27Speaker 2: providing for your children. Yeah, so it was it was
- 11:31Speaker 2: a lot. I think for my mom, you know, it
- 11:33Speaker 2: was there were two struggling young, you know, individuals that
- 11:37Speaker 2: were trying to provide for their kids. And I think
- 11:39Speaker 2: my grandmother and you know, and his mom had money,
- 11:43Speaker 2: but no one was helping out and they were staying
- 11:46Speaker 2: out of it obviously in any kind of relationship. So,
- 11:49Speaker 2: you know, I think by my dad had the intentions
- 11:51Speaker 2: to find somebody else and not to deal with that right,
- 11:54Speaker 2: which is definitely not the right way, because you know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: I was one of the kids, you know, that had
- 11:59Speaker 2: the experience that it's it's you know, there's no right
- 12:03Speaker 2: or wrong, there's just a lesson right. And I think
- 12:05Speaker 2: we all take inside, especially the children, we're kind of
- 12:08Speaker 2: like these sponges that really just absorb it all and
- 12:11Speaker 2: it's it's kind of it's sad that it happens like that.
- 12:14Speaker 2: You know, it's not just putting food on the table
- 12:16Speaker 2: for your kids, but it's obviously the missing love that
- 12:19Speaker 2: you should probably should have had. Yeah, and just because
- 12:22Speaker 2: you feed, you know, your family, doesn't mean it's the
- 12:25Speaker 2: same as loving your family. So there's there's different things
- 12:30Speaker 2: in my life that I've experienced and I don't regret
- 12:35Speaker 2: any of it, you know, because what I do think
- 12:37Speaker 2: is that it's taught me a lesson. It depends on
- 12:39Speaker 2: each individual if you're willing to understand that lesson. Right, So,
- 12:43Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a very big believer in the Bible
- 12:46Speaker 2: and reading stories that can resonate with myself. I don't
- 12:49Speaker 2: believe in pushing it. But if those stories resonate with
- 12:53Speaker 2: you and you learn something from it, then maybe you
- 12:57Speaker 2: can utilize it in your life. That was kind of deep,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I don't know, real deep.
- 13:01Speaker 1: So so I'm trying to get back to your So
- 13:06Speaker 1: your father starts this endeavor in real estate, because I
- 13:10Speaker 1: sure you and you know your whole most of your
- 13:14Speaker 1: resume is in real estate and production. But I'm curious
- 13:19Speaker 1: to know how this realest him getting into real estate
- 13:24Speaker 1: impacted your journey.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Well, it's not just my father, it's I think my
- 13:31Speaker 2: whole family has been into real estate. My grandmother worked
- 13:34Speaker 2: in real estate, buying and selling houses at an early age.
- 13:37Speaker 2: She worked at I think Centray twenty one when they
- 13:39Speaker 2: first opened, right probably, I don't even know, it's in
- 13:42Speaker 2: the sixties. And you know she she loved real estate.
- 13:47Speaker 2: My father, you know, saw that that you can make
- 13:50Speaker 2: money off of tenants. And you know, this is the
- 13:54Speaker 2: thing about immigrants, right, My dad was an immigrant. I'm
- 13:57Speaker 2: a I'm a TI citizen, an American citizen, so I
- 14:00Speaker 2: have to have a certain appreciation for the hustle that
- 14:02Speaker 2: immigrants have in this country, right. Yeah, And you know
- 14:06Speaker 2: for what he did to work as a bartender and
- 14:09Speaker 2: to make millions off of real estate, right and getting
- 14:14Speaker 2: a piece of that American dream, right and without an ego,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I have a lot of respect for that. So you know,
- 14:21Speaker 2: as a as a kid growing up, I worked in
- 14:25Speaker 2: real estate, but not through the same conventional ways that
- 14:29Speaker 2: they did, right. I worked in a bank, not by choice.
- 14:34Speaker 2: There was a girl I was dating and the dad
- 14:36Speaker 2: wanted to kick my ass and he said, you're coming
- 14:40Speaker 2: to work with me every day. So that's exactly how
- 14:42Speaker 2: I got into real estate.
- 14:43Speaker 1: That's hilarious. Well that's how you got into real estate,
- 14:46Speaker 1: or into banking real.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Estate, real estate because it was a mortgage bank.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It was a mortgage bank, so you don't like home loans.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Home loans, So this guy wanted to kick my ass
- 14:56Speaker 2: because no, it wasn't really an offer of a job.
- 14:59Speaker 2: It was more like if you keep on dating my daughter,
- 15:02Speaker 2: that's you know, sneaking out of her house after you know,
- 15:06Speaker 2: eleven o'clock a night, coming to my house. I'm gonna go,
- 15:10Speaker 2: you know, break your teeth. So he lived down the street.
- 15:13Speaker 2: This guy had a Hummer, you know, Lotus and Mercedes
- 15:16Speaker 2: and all the fancy cars. And he also had this
- 15:19Speaker 2: daughter that looked like Christina Agilera. Right, So me having
- 15:22Speaker 2: you know, the hormones I had, I'm like, I'm gonna
- 15:24Speaker 2: pull that. And sure enough, you know, she was walking
- 15:28Speaker 2: down the street with her her brother one time and
- 15:30Speaker 2: you know, did what I do and just spit the game,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and next thing you know, she was sneaking out.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Yep. And then daddy came for you.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Daddy came for me, and he basically went to my mother,
- 15:41Speaker 2: my mother, and she he said that, yeah, I heard
- 15:45Speaker 2: your son is sleeping with my daughter, and yeah, that's
- 15:48Speaker 2: gonna be a problem, and like Italian mafioso kind of
- 15:52Speaker 2: looking dude. And my mom called me right on my
- 15:55Speaker 2: Nokia right that the phone, yeah exactly, and said, ty,
- 16:00Speaker 2: I don't think you should come home. I'm like, come home?
- 16:02Speaker 2: What do you mean? She says? Yeah, This guy says
- 16:06Speaker 2: you're hooking up with his daughter, and yeah, he's pretty upset.
- 16:10Speaker 2: So my mom had to negotiate the terms. And I
- 16:14Speaker 2: was going to go to work with this guy every
- 16:16Speaker 2: single day so that he could pay attention to who
- 16:20Speaker 2: I was and what I was doing with my life.
- 16:23Speaker 1: How old were you at the time.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I was I nineteen eighteen, eighteen nineteen, I don't even know,
- 16:28Speaker 2: right around maybe I was eighteen, I don't know. I
- 16:30Speaker 2: mean old enough to get my ass kicked by a
- 16:34Speaker 2: grown ass man. Yeah, so especially listen, you definitely get
- 16:38Speaker 2: your ass kicked when it comes to somebody's daughter. Because
- 16:40Speaker 2: I have a daughter, so I know how it is
- 16:42Speaker 2: to be a parent. You're never going to win.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Do you look back and now you go, I get it,
- 16:47Speaker 1: Like I.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Like, listen, if you try to do anything with my daughter,
- 16:52Speaker 2: you're getting your ass kicked. That's just the bottom line.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Like it just it's going to happen. And I get it.
- 16:58Speaker 2: My daughter is fourteen. I was gonna say thirteen fourteen.
- 17:02Speaker 1: So you're you're inching into like the troubled territory.
- 17:05Speaker 2: No, no, I mean she's she's a good kid. She
- 17:07Speaker 2: she horseback rides, she does all the sports that that
- 17:11Speaker 2: daddy's gonna be paying for us for the rest of
- 17:13Speaker 2: his life front with But yeah, I mean, listen, every
- 17:16Speaker 2: man should have a daughter right right off the bat.
- 17:19Speaker 2: It's it makes a man a man. I believe that
- 17:22Speaker 2: I have played barbies on the floor with my daughter.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I painted nails, and I'm not ashamed to say it.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'm a great dad. You know. Maybe it stems from,
- 17:30Speaker 2: you know, my past childhood of you know, of maybe
- 17:34Speaker 2: not having parents around like I probably should have. But
- 17:37Speaker 2: I'm probably like over compensating, right, you know, I could
- 17:40Speaker 2: probably been a nail technician that has nothing to do
- 17:42Speaker 2: with my Asian side.
- 17:42Speaker 1: That's hilarious. That's hilarious. So so you end up working
- 17:47Speaker 1: at this bank, do you and the daddy, the daddy,
- 17:51Speaker 1: the mean daddy end up becoming buddies and like we did.
- 17:54Speaker 2: We ended up opening a company together.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Get the freak out.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Okay, this is the craziest, very crazy party.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Did you end up saying with his daughter, No.
- 18:02Speaker 2: He wanted me to marry her and there's no way
- 18:04Speaker 2: I got.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Rid of her ass, Oh my goodness.
- 18:06Speaker 2: And then we started partying and hanging out with chicks
- 18:08Speaker 2: and crazy. I mean the fact that I have these
- 18:11Speaker 2: stories in my head. If you could even imagine the
- 18:13Speaker 2: stories in my head of women in a convertible BMW
- 18:18Speaker 2: with no tops on, driving on the road and we're
- 18:22Speaker 2: in the front seat of the car. Just crazy stuff,
- 18:24Speaker 2: like crazy crazy stuff. We're buddies, Yeah, we're buddies after
- 18:29Speaker 2: that point. And I think I went to the graduation
- 18:32Speaker 2: for his daughter, didn't do anything with her and called it.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Say peace. You know, it was one of those things.
- 18:37Speaker 2: It's just it was weird, that's crazy. I got into
- 18:40Speaker 2: money with these with his daddy, right, so you know,
- 18:44Speaker 2: this was I think two thousand and six, right, and
- 18:48Speaker 2: we ended up doing financially amazing. And let me tell
- 18:51Speaker 2: you first, let me backtrack a little bit, right. You know,
- 18:54Speaker 2: when I was that kid that was going to work
- 18:57Speaker 2: with the father, I was this really shitty, punk ass kid.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It was eighteen because now I remember eighteen because it
- 19:04Speaker 2: was just I just graduated at eighteen years old. Nobody
- 19:09Speaker 2: wants to spend time in any kind of building, right,
- 19:11Speaker 2: especially an office bullshit job. Right. So I learned the
- 19:16Speaker 2: mortgage banking business inside and out by annoying people. And
- 19:21Speaker 2: I say annoying, like you know, all right, Karen I'm
- 19:24Speaker 2: gonna sit here and watch you underwrite stuff, right, And
- 19:26Speaker 2: so I'm reading the book I'm underwriting because I have
- 19:29Speaker 2: nothing to do. I'm bored. Right.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Oh, he didn't really like give you a job. He
- 19:32Speaker 1: just needed you under supervision.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Oh supervision. There was no job. There was no payment,
- 19:37Speaker 2: nothing like that. Let's get that strictly, you know, like clear,
- 19:40Speaker 2: there was nothing. I was spending my own money to
- 19:42Speaker 2: go to work with him, right, because it was either
- 19:44Speaker 2: that or death. So it was like, which one you want?
- 19:46Speaker 1: This is hilarious.
- 19:48Speaker 2: So I went to work with this guy, and he
- 19:51Speaker 2: was busy, macho dude, you're doing his thing, right, Italian guy,
- 19:55Speaker 2: your big ass office, and me, I'm like a little
- 19:56Speaker 2: small cubicle, like, hey, do whatever the hell you want,
- 19:59Speaker 2: but you're standing here, you know. So I ended up
- 20:01Speaker 2: meeting everybody in that company and sitting with them, became
- 20:04Speaker 2: friends with them and learning their jobs. But so, like
- 20:07Speaker 2: I'm talking about learning their jobs so well, I learned it,
- 20:11Speaker 2: only to say that they're doing shit wrong. Oh my god,
- 20:14Speaker 2: that's like Dennis the Menace. Hey, Karen, you know do
- 20:17Speaker 2: you know that this guideline says that you can't do
- 20:20Speaker 2: this and She's like, I don't care what you what
- 20:22Speaker 2: we're talking about, Ty, And then I was like, oh,
- 20:25Speaker 2: let me go to Art. Hey, Art, guess what, You're
- 20:27Speaker 2: probably gonna lose money from your investors if she doesn't
- 20:29Speaker 2: correct this. I tattletaled and everybody in that company.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Now, I see how you guys ended up becoming partners, right,
- 20:42Speaker 1: because you were like showing it. Well, indirectly you were
- 20:45Speaker 1: showing him that you knew this stuff. But indirectly.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah, not not yet, yeah, not a purpose. But there
- 20:52Speaker 2: was this guy named Tony Ravella. He had a company
- 20:54Speaker 2: called Fortune One. The guy was probably like six or
- 20:58Speaker 2: seven years older than me. Right, hot shot Latin guy
- 21:01Speaker 2: walks in and he's like, hey, you know, I'm looking
- 21:04Speaker 2: for my checks. I was at the front, right, and
- 21:06Speaker 2: I said checks and said or whatever, right, and so
- 21:08Speaker 2: I will go to the back and say, Art. This
- 21:10Speaker 2: guy Tony says, you know, he's looking for checks, and
- 21:13Speaker 2: he's like, just give me these checks. He had him
- 21:14Speaker 2: on his desk. I look at the checks. I'm like
- 21:17Speaker 2: twenty seven thousand dollars. This guy's not that much older
- 21:19Speaker 2: than me, you know, Like hey, Tony, like how do
- 21:23Speaker 2: you make this kind of money? He's like, I'm a lender,
- 21:27Speaker 2: you know, for real stagents. I'm like a lender from
- 21:29Speaker 2: real stagents. You know, Like okay, well how do I
- 21:32Speaker 2: do that? You know, like I'm a broke skateboarder. Right,
- 21:37Speaker 2: So he's like, yeah, why don't you come hang out
- 21:39Speaker 2: with me and I'll talk about it. I'm like, hey,
- 21:42Speaker 2: Art Tony, you know your client, he's like the number
- 21:46Speaker 2: one client, says I can go hang out with him.
- 21:48Speaker 2: He says okay, so whatever, he didn't care, and so
- 21:52Speaker 2: we ended up going to a Miyagi sushi on sunset
- 21:55Speaker 2: and having like the craziest time of our life. Right.
- 21:58Speaker 2: You know, here I am like asking a million questions.
- 22:00Speaker 2: I'll never forget this, right, anybody that somebody doesn't want
- 22:03Speaker 2: to have an annoying kid asking them what did you
- 22:06Speaker 2: do to make your money? Right? It's like the most annoying,
- 22:08Speaker 2: especially you're young and you just really want to find
- 22:10Speaker 2: out the secret. So I was doing that constantly and
- 22:13Speaker 2: they're like, ty, this is this is not business time
- 22:16Speaker 2: right now, this is just we're parting. We're having a
- 22:18Speaker 2: good time. You know, you're the you're the young young
- 22:20Speaker 2: kid that shouldn't be drinking, but you know, you're taking everybody' shots. Yeah,
- 22:24Speaker 2: you know, because I was driving in like really nice cars.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I was driving h one hummers with these guys. So
- 22:29Speaker 2: it's like I felt like I was part of the
- 22:31Speaker 2: crew even though I was on probation pretty much. Yeah yeah,
- 22:34Speaker 2: but you know, these guys saw that had interest in
- 22:37Speaker 2: you know, they wanted to help me. So I did,
- 22:39Speaker 2: like what every young kid that wants to make a
- 22:42Speaker 2: million dollars, right, I started sitting with these guys and
- 22:45Speaker 2: just watching them what they do, and I said, well, hey,
- 22:46Speaker 2: let me see if I can go get a deal.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And sure enough, I got my first deal. I made, like,
- 22:51Speaker 2: you know, it was like forty eight hundred bucks. But
- 22:53Speaker 2: for a kid that.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Has a lot of money, yeah, you know, to making.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Forty eight hundred hours like okay, well cool, Like what
- 22:59Speaker 2: am gonna do with money? Right? So I started buying stuff,
- 23:03Speaker 2: you know, just random stuff, and it was like stuff
- 23:05Speaker 2: that I didn't even need. Right, I'm like, well this
- 23:07Speaker 2: is cool, but now I'm broke again, right, Because it's
- 23:10Speaker 2: like when you're you feel like you're rich forty hundred
- 23:13Speaker 2: dollars me and you were like, oh shit, we're broke, right,
- 23:16Speaker 2: But when you're a kid and you have your parents,
- 23:19Speaker 2: you know, that are taking care of everything, and you're
- 23:21Speaker 2: getting money. You're like, okay, well I don't want to
- 23:23Speaker 2: go broke again, like how to get my next deal? Right?
- 23:26Speaker 2: So I started learning, like learning how to like talk
- 23:28Speaker 2: to people, and learning about sales books and educating myself,
- 23:32Speaker 2: you know, with the rich dad, poor dad books right,
- 23:34Speaker 2: the Robert Kiyosaki mentality, and just reading different kinds of
- 23:39Speaker 2: sales books. I mean, I have a crazy book collection.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Anybody that wants to be on my level, you better
- 23:45Speaker 2: be prepared to buy at least like a hundred books,
- 23:47Speaker 2: right because of psychology, right, psychology one on one, and
- 23:51Speaker 2: you have to understand how to read people so well,
- 23:54Speaker 2: just by the way they look at you, their facial expressions.
- 23:58Speaker 2: That's it. People want you to mirror them, and if
- 24:03Speaker 2: you don't, they're not going to feel comfortable with you.
- 24:05Speaker 2: It doesn't matter who you think you are or how
- 24:07Speaker 2: rich you think you are. And I win to burn
- 24:10Speaker 2: this thing up.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Cool, that's hilarious.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Yeah, But the bottom line is is education is key
- 24:19Speaker 2: and it's a science. And I had that learned that science,
- 24:24Speaker 2: especially if I wanted to be with the big players.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Right now, When you were in high school, were you
- 24:27Speaker 1: a good student? How did you know to start looking
- 24:30Speaker 1: into books? Was it because everyone around you had a
- 24:33Speaker 1: book collection?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Like?
- 24:34Speaker 1: Where did that? Because even being young, I can't imagine
- 24:39Speaker 1: you where that came from.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Listen, just because they have glasses on, don't get it twisted.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I'm not that book smarter. I know how to manipulate,
- 24:47Speaker 2: probably better than most. Right. So money is the first
- 24:50Speaker 2: way of manipulating anybody. Right, So if you had a
- 24:53Speaker 2: little bit of money, you know how to give your
- 24:56Speaker 2: lunch money to the teacher and buy her stuff, right,
- 25:00Speaker 2: whether it's a drink or whatever. Right, it's I learned
- 25:04Speaker 2: about how to get extra credit. I learned how to
- 25:07Speaker 2: suck up to my teacher, how to get good grades,
- 25:10Speaker 2: right without even doing all the work. It's kind it's
- 25:13Speaker 2: kind of shitty, right. I don't really want my kids
- 25:15Speaker 2: to hear this stuff and think that they can get
- 25:16Speaker 2: away with you.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Definite.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Well I'm the strictest. I'm the strictest part, but
- 25:22Speaker 2: I'm very vers I.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Feel like all the dads are like the kids know,
- 25:26Speaker 1: they get their love from the mom, and then they
- 25:27Speaker 1: go to the dad for like, yeah, they just don't
- 25:30Speaker 1: want to disappoint the dad or whatever.
- 25:32Speaker 2: This is the thing, like, I'm not happy with what
- 25:35Speaker 2: I've done, especially in school. But I used to take
- 25:38Speaker 2: baseball cards and you know, trade them to my friends
- 25:41Speaker 2: that do my homework or you know whatever I would
- 25:44Speaker 2: have from my birthday parties and give it away to
- 25:49Speaker 2: order to make deals. I was making deals in high school,
- 25:51Speaker 2: you know, And and I was basically what I was
- 25:53Speaker 2: doing is I was having students do my homework for me, right,
- 25:57Speaker 2: you know, I was a B level student for a
- 26:00Speaker 2: guy that really didn't do much work, right, I knew
- 26:03Speaker 2: how to manipulate the system to basically just work for me.
- 26:07Speaker 2: So it's it's unfortunate. But I will not say that
- 26:11Speaker 2: I have the education of an A student, because I
- 26:14Speaker 2: really don't. I just knew how to hustle. I knew
- 26:17Speaker 2: how to have people work for me at at a
- 26:19Speaker 2: student level in order to get me the grades I need.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I knew how to buy my teachers off.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I always heard this rumor that usually A students work
- 26:28Speaker 1: for B and C students or something like that. A students.
- 26:33Speaker 2: That's all bullshit, because all those A students definitely were
- 26:36Speaker 2: on my payroll and that's just the truth.
- 26:38Speaker 1: So yeah, so you work, that's what that goes that that.
- 26:41Speaker 2: No, you said A students A students work for B
- 26:43Speaker 2: and C students work for Yeah, okay, so that's what
- 26:46Speaker 2: you said. Yes, they definitely definitely work. Sorry, I was
- 26:48Speaker 2: getting I was getting out real fierce right now. I
- 26:50Speaker 2: was like, no work for me.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, that's you just confirm.
- 26:55Speaker 2: You just confirm the theory. You know, by by you know,
- 26:57Speaker 2: I'll say this by by twenty one, you know, which
- 27:01Speaker 2: was two thousand, two thousand and seven, right, I was
- 27:05Speaker 2: making like one hundred K a month, right, wow? Yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 2: I want to say it was twenty wow. Right. I
- 27:12Speaker 2: was having money going to my accounts that I thought
- 27:15Speaker 2: that the IRS was playing with me and putting money
- 27:18Speaker 2: into my accounts. I was thinking, like, where's this money
- 27:20Speaker 2: coming from. It's just getting to positive account. I had
- 27:22Speaker 2: so many business affiliations with people that money would come
- 27:25Speaker 2: in and there would be baked deposits in my account
- 27:28Speaker 2: and it would be no trace of where this money
- 27:30Speaker 2: came from. So I'm tripping out meanwhile trying to figure
- 27:33Speaker 2: out where this money is coming from. And I was
- 27:36Speaker 2: financially killing it, like killing this is.
- 27:39Speaker 1: After the forty eight hundred dollars adult keeper were the money.
- 27:43Speaker 2: We're moving. We're moving way past that now, yeah, because
- 27:45Speaker 2: that was just one little stipid. Once I got that taste. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 2: it's like an it's I don't want to say it's
- 27:50Speaker 2: like a coke addiction, because who does that. I'm just saying.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I'm just saying, but it's like that. It's like, you know,
- 27:57Speaker 2: you get that one taste of something and you want
- 27:59Speaker 2: to just keep on going. Yeah. Yeah, right, So that
- 28:02Speaker 2: one experience that had forty eight hundred dollars, I turned
- 28:04Speaker 2: that to quickly money, right. I got one check that
- 28:07Speaker 2: was like ninety eight hundred dollars or something, ninety eight hundred.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Try eight ninety eight thousand dollars. Well, I'm talking about
- 28:13Speaker 2: nineteen hundred. That's nothing, ninety eight thousand dollars, right, for
- 28:16Speaker 2: one transaction, So you know I was really doing some
- 28:19Speaker 2: big stuff.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Now after that first I hate to keep bringing up,
- 28:22Speaker 1: but after that first forty eight hundred, you end up
- 28:24Speaker 1: learning a value, but lesson about how you're spending. So
- 28:27Speaker 1: the next bit of checks, are you just investing them
- 28:29Speaker 1: more wisely versus spending like a crazy person.
- 28:32Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, I didn't. I did not learn about
- 28:34Speaker 2: investing in nothing. I only learned about spending and living
- 28:37Speaker 2: a lifestyle. That was it, right because there was no
- 28:41Speaker 2: financial education for a cocky young kid that was driving
- 28:45Speaker 2: a brand new S five hundred, right, and that was
- 28:47Speaker 2: making more money than his teachers in college, right, right,
- 28:51Speaker 2: Because obviously I got out of high school, went to college,
- 28:54Speaker 2: and my first semester, I was like, why made me? Hear?
- 28:57Speaker 2: I'm using used books. They're trying to teach me e
- 29:00Speaker 2: comm they trying to teach me business, and this does
- 29:03Speaker 2: not make sense, right because I'm making that ridiculous money.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You know, I was like one of the very few
- 29:08Speaker 2: people do with that stuff. I was a hustler.
- 29:10Speaker 1: They got lucky, right, Okay, okay, and then now take
- 29:14Speaker 1: you closer to love enlistings.
- 29:17Speaker 2: That's like way further out there.
- 29:19Speaker 1: And okay, so you and the dad, you guys, partner,
- 29:22Speaker 1: is this when you're making a lot more money?
- 29:25Speaker 2: We we what we did was we were we were
- 29:28Speaker 2: we were funding like loans and this is not before,
- 29:33Speaker 2: this isn't this is before I got into actual real estate.
- 29:35Speaker 2: And I'm gonna show you how I got into that.
- 29:38Speaker 2: We were funding, Like by myself, I was doing fifty
- 29:41Speaker 2: million a month just in fundings, right, so people's loans
- 29:44Speaker 2: and using warehouse lines to fund their you know, their
- 29:47Speaker 2: their the real estate. I wanted to do more retail,
- 29:52Speaker 2: which I was dealing with. The wholesale means that if
- 29:54Speaker 2: you're a mortgage broker, you're coming to our company and
- 29:56Speaker 2: we were funding your stuff, right. But I would make
- 29:59Speaker 2: more money if I was the retail and I was
- 30:01Speaker 2: making the wholesale right. It was like there was retail
- 30:04Speaker 2: wholesale money, right, and then.
- 30:06Speaker 1: We're selling the loans wholesale money.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Wholesale money is like, for instance, if you buy this
- 30:12Speaker 2: water right and you buy this for a dollar, right,
- 30:15Speaker 2: a wholesale, but you're selling it in the supermarkets for
- 30:18Speaker 2: a dollar fifty.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but how's that? How do you have wholesale in
- 30:20Speaker 1: real estate? Though?
- 30:21Speaker 2: With lending, well, I owned a piece of the mortgage company, right,
- 30:26Speaker 2: so we made that money. I had a piece of
- 30:29Speaker 2: the real estate company, or not really at the time,
- 30:31Speaker 2: it wasn't my real estate company. It was me as
- 30:33Speaker 2: an agent, so I was making my commissions on top
- 30:36Speaker 2: of it. So I was making commissions and I was
- 30:38Speaker 2: making a piece of the mortgage company, right, because I
- 30:41Speaker 2: had interest in that company, okay, right, And you know
- 30:45Speaker 2: it was like double dipping. I was making insane amount
- 30:48Speaker 2: of money. So each transaction to me could have been
- 30:51Speaker 2: like twenty to thirty thousand every transaction. So that was
- 30:55Speaker 2: what the retail and the wholesale would make me. But
- 30:58Speaker 2: if it was just the wholesale make, you know, it
- 31:01Speaker 2: could be it could be five thousand to ten thousand, depends, right,
- 31:04Speaker 2: It depends on want have to split with my partner? Right?
- 31:06Speaker 1: And at what are your sisters, and I mean your
- 31:08Speaker 1: siblings and your parents saying at the time when they're
- 31:11Speaker 1: seeing you like extremely successful?
- 31:15Speaker 2: I think they were just confused on how much money.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I mean, these were different times though money was coming
- 31:22Speaker 2: in a lot easier. I mean, obviously this daying age
- 31:25Speaker 2: is a lot harder, right, there's so many more regulations.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And I was just young and cocky. So what are
- 31:30Speaker 2: they going to say to me? I didn't care.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Did your siblings say, teach me how to fish?
- 31:34Speaker 2: I wouldn't say that. I think that they were living
- 31:37Speaker 2: their life and I was living mine and in a
- 31:39Speaker 2: very fast lane. I was partying every night and drinking,
- 31:42Speaker 2: and you hanging out with chicks and just doing the
- 31:45Speaker 2: young kid things like the fact that I even did
- 31:47Speaker 2: that stuff when I looked back at my life and traveling,
- 31:50Speaker 2: like I travel all over the world, right, and I'm
- 31:51Speaker 2: talking about about like a very lavish lifestyle, private islands,
- 31:54Speaker 2: like going to Europe, spending fifty thousand up for a week,
- 31:58Speaker 2: like it's just crazy shit, right, And it's it's it's
- 32:03Speaker 2: it's an experience that most people will never have. I
- 32:07Speaker 2: look back as, oh, that's cool, but it was also stupid.
- 32:10Speaker 2: I spent so much money, yeah, right, And I think
- 32:13Speaker 2: that anybody that has ever made that kind of money
- 32:16Speaker 2: they always wish that they would have saved a little bit. Right.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I did not save. I just spent.
- 32:20Speaker 1: So what was where was that critical lesson where you
- 32:25Speaker 1: I'm assuming because you're saying that it wasn't that was
- 32:28Speaker 1: that it wasn't a great idea at the time. So
- 32:31Speaker 1: where did it take a turn for probably not the
- 32:34Speaker 1: best for you with all the spending.
- 32:36Speaker 2: There was a mortgage crash, right, which affected the real
- 32:40Speaker 2: estate world, you know.
- 32:42Speaker 1: So that was like two thousand and eight.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Two thousands. It started at the two thousand and seven
- 32:47Speaker 2: and ended up to or started it started two thousand
- 32:49Speaker 2: and end of two thousand and seven and went to
- 32:50Speaker 2: two thousand and eight. So I think I want to
- 32:52Speaker 2: say November of two thousand and seven where the market
- 32:54Speaker 2: started shifting. Right, And when you're making all that kind
- 32:58Speaker 2: of money, it's like you have a couple of drinks, right,
- 33:01Speaker 2: You're not thinking that you could get drunk. You're thinking
- 33:04Speaker 2: that you can still drive. Right. So I didn't see
- 33:07Speaker 2: it coming. I was too new to it, right. It
- 33:09Speaker 2: was like there was no lessons for me to learn.
- 33:12Speaker 2: It was I'm going to learn this lesson. God's going
- 33:14Speaker 2: to show me that I'm going to learn a lesson.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I need to slow down. But my foresight it was
- 33:20Speaker 2: not there, and that vision was not there of the
- 33:22Speaker 2: market crashing. When that market crashed, all my bills of
- 33:27Speaker 2: whatever I was paying, I want to say, it was
- 33:28Speaker 2: paying like twenty k a month at an early age,
- 33:31Speaker 2: right in my twenties, right, I didn't prepare for so
- 33:34Speaker 2: I had enough money to cover say a year's worth
- 33:37Speaker 2: of you know, of salaries, cause I was paying employees
- 33:40Speaker 2: that worked for me. I was paying for expenses. I
- 33:43Speaker 2: was paying for offices, cars, six thousand dollars worth of
- 33:46Speaker 2: payments a month, like some crazy stuff. And the problem
- 33:50Speaker 2: is is your ego is still in tact. So you're like, well,
- 33:55Speaker 2: it's going to pass over, no big deal. I'm going
- 33:57Speaker 2: to keep on paying for people's expenses. I mean by
- 34:00Speaker 2: me having a decent heart and paying for the stuff
- 34:03Speaker 2: and hoping that you know that things are going to
- 34:05Speaker 2: get better. It didn't get better. It only got worse. Right,
- 34:09Speaker 2: that's scary.
- 34:10Speaker 1: So then what happens?
- 34:11Speaker 2: I mean, so this one was cooked?
- 34:13Speaker 1: Man feed us.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not just making sure. I mean, we want
- 34:16Speaker 2: a well done rain. We want a well Jesus one.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I'm ready. I want to eat. I want to try
- 34:23Speaker 1: these sales too.
- 34:24Speaker 2: She wants us to try the shelves. So let me
- 34:26Speaker 2: just say this, and I'm gonna I'm gonna serve this
- 34:28Speaker 2: to you. Since I didn't prepare myself for a shitty economy,
- 34:34Speaker 2: you know, I ended up going broke, like literally, and
- 34:37Speaker 2: it wasn't like I was goke like bankruptcy broke. Yeah,
- 34:42Speaker 2: Like like when you have all these debtors and you
- 34:45Speaker 2: can't pay for these things because your lifestyle is so expensive,
- 34:48Speaker 2: right and the money's not coming in, you know, it
- 34:53Speaker 2: takes a toll on you, like yes, there was some
- 34:55Speaker 2: deals coming in, but you know it wasn't the same, right.
- 34:59Speaker 2: So it's it's like, you know there's a winter coming, right,
- 35:02Speaker 2: but you're not storing enough food. You know, you're just
- 35:05Speaker 2: you're lazy. You want to go hang out with the nightclub.
- 35:08Speaker 2: So you're not taking enough food in, you're not harvesting,
- 35:10Speaker 2: harvesting enough, and before you know it, here's the winter,
- 35:13Speaker 2: and now midway through winter, you're starving, right, but your
- 35:18Speaker 2: ego's in place, so you're not trying to go ask
- 35:20Speaker 2: your friends and family because you're this macho farmer. You know,
- 35:25Speaker 2: you're you have this ego. So the main thing in
- 35:27Speaker 2: this story is is I had an ego and I
- 35:30Speaker 2: had to learn a lesson from it, right that, you know,
- 35:34Speaker 2: I needed to prepare myself. But you know it was
- 35:37Speaker 2: a first time. It was new, young, rich, successful.
- 35:40Speaker 1: So how long were you broke?
- 35:41Speaker 2: For? Oh? Years? Years? Years? It wasn't like I had
- 35:45Speaker 2: just you know, I snapped right out of it. It
- 35:47Speaker 2: was years, you know, to learn that lesson, and you know,
- 35:50Speaker 2: almost lost everything. Got to keep my one of my cars,
- 35:54Speaker 2: got to keep one of the houses. But I still
- 35:57Speaker 2: have the file bankruptcy and and and you know, terminate
- 36:00Speaker 2: my lifestyle, right, didn't go on trips, you know, barely
- 36:04Speaker 2: had enough money to survive every month, you know, just
- 36:08Speaker 2: with modifications of loans and you know, saying you're going
- 36:11Speaker 2: to pay back people, and.
- 36:12Speaker 1: You know, think I have kids or anything, thank God?
- 36:15Speaker 2: Right. See, No, I didn't have kids at that time
- 36:20Speaker 2: because I was still really young. But you know, it
- 36:24Speaker 2: was I can't even imagine if I did. Let's just
- 36:26Speaker 2: say that, you know, And it scares me even to
- 36:28Speaker 2: say that, because you know, now I'm like a saber, right,
- 36:31Speaker 2: so I always have money. I actually live a very
- 36:33Speaker 2: modest lifestyle. When I see people that act like they
- 36:36Speaker 2: have all this and that, you know, it's it's ridiculous
- 36:39Speaker 2: to me, you know. I I don't look down on them.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I just think that they don't know, right. It's like
- 36:45Speaker 2: that in the Bible says, you know, forgive me Father,
- 36:48Speaker 2: for they do not know, right. So it's like they
- 36:51Speaker 2: don't know what could possibly happen. Right, So when people
- 36:54Speaker 2: act a certain way, they just don't know what the
- 36:57Speaker 2: possibilities are. And you know, I learned a value lesson
- 37:01Speaker 2: to never act like I'm better than anybody else or
- 37:04Speaker 2: have more money than anybody else. I mean, honestly, I
- 37:06Speaker 2: have a crazy watch collection, right, and I don't even
- 37:09Speaker 2: wear watches. You know, I got beautiful rollu says Cardias
- 37:14Speaker 2: and all that stuff. What kind of attention am I
- 37:16Speaker 2: going to attract? Right, I'm gonna get somebody because they
- 37:18Speaker 2: think I'm cool because I have, you know, fifty thousand
- 37:21Speaker 2: dollars watch on. I didn't need you in at the beginning,
- 37:23Speaker 2: when I had my Black American Express, I still didn't
- 37:25Speaker 2: need you because you're only cool cool with me because
- 37:27Speaker 2: I was spending money on you.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, my my husband, he's reading a book called
- 37:31Speaker 1: Like Money Psychology, and he was telling me this morning
- 37:33Speaker 1: that there's a difference between rich and wealthy. And he
- 37:36Speaker 1: was saying that rich people, you know, they they're trying
- 37:39Speaker 1: to give off this image. But if you ever see
- 37:41Speaker 1: someone driving a nice car there, when other people look
- 37:44Speaker 1: at you, they're thinking, wow, that's a nice car. They're
- 37:46Speaker 1: not thinking, oh, he's cool because he's driving a nice car,
- 37:49Speaker 1: or this person's cool because they have a nice watch.
- 37:51Speaker 1: There's thaying and that's a nice watch.
- 37:54Speaker 2: That's you could you could you could say it like that.
- 37:57Speaker 2: You know, first off, it doesn't really matter what anybody thinks. Right,
- 38:00Speaker 2: that's what you think. If you want an expensive car,
- 38:02Speaker 2: just do it for you. That's what I'm saying. When
- 38:04Speaker 2: I was spending money on people, I was doing because
- 38:07Speaker 2: I was so insecure that I felt like I needed
- 38:09Speaker 2: to have a lifestyle and have friends and whatnot. But
- 38:12Speaker 2: all these people were like bad actors. Right. They were
- 38:14Speaker 2: only there because I had the nicest stuff. Right, So
- 38:18Speaker 2: at the end of the day, where were they when
- 38:19Speaker 2: I had no money? Right? They were gone? So you
- 38:23Speaker 2: got to do things for yourself, right, you know, these
- 38:25Speaker 2: kind of moments and cooking and having a good time.
- 38:28Speaker 2: You know, that's why, like when you're a young girl
- 38:31Speaker 2: sitting on her with her family or they're at a
- 38:33Speaker 2: table like in your having moments, that's way more precious
- 38:37Speaker 2: than going to a master of steakhouse to impress your friends.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I agree with that, So you know, I became way
- 38:43Speaker 2: more family warranted and more secure with myself. But it
- 38:45Speaker 2: took a long period of time. It wasn't like something
- 38:47Speaker 2: that was just it came to me. I had to
- 38:50Speaker 2: really fight the demons of the insecurities of trying to
- 38:54Speaker 2: impress people for something that I thought I was But
- 38:57Speaker 2: I wasn't. I'm a wholesome dude, right, I'm cooking tacos
- 39:02Speaker 2: And I went to there was this called like food
- 39:05Speaker 2: for Less.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Right, I saw, I saw your bag.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it was definitely an interesting lifestyle. People like,
- 39:11Speaker 2: you know, talking to me in there. They were trying
- 39:12Speaker 2: to sell me stuff in there, and I don't know
- 39:14Speaker 2: if they're trying to Yeah, I was like it was
- 39:16Speaker 2: it was different. It was different. I mean, but I'm
- 39:18Speaker 2: such a like a nice guy. I'll talk to everybody.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And I saw the one lady break out, probably her
- 39:22Speaker 2: boyfriend's class.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw that.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean she was going nuts. Do you want
- 39:27Speaker 2: to try this stuff?
- 39:28Speaker 1: Like I don't want to try We're gonna you gotta
- 39:30Speaker 1: serve both of us up.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, I'm gonna do it a little differ.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I'm gonna do this one.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna try one of your flower tortillas too.
- 39:43Speaker 1: How do you end up inching into real estate? So
- 39:45Speaker 1: obviously there's a period where oh you're doing it for real,
- 39:49Speaker 1: for real.
- 39:50Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. My girl made this comment to
- 39:54Speaker 2: my daughter. We were in bed, and she said, my
- 39:59Speaker 2: daughter's you know, like that lifestyle fourteen, and you know,
- 40:02Speaker 2: she had the Uber Eats, you know the door dash,
- 40:06Speaker 2: and she comes in like a nine o'clock She just says, Dad,
- 40:10Speaker 2: we need to get Chick fil A, right, and my
- 40:13Speaker 2: girls like chick fil A, Like haven't you ever heard
- 40:17Speaker 2: of like chips and cheese? You know, my daughter's very
- 40:20Speaker 2: specific of what she wants, right, And this is how
- 40:23Speaker 2: you know we've spoiled our children when she's asking at
- 40:26Speaker 2: nine o'clock for Chick fil A, very specific. So yesterday
- 40:29Speaker 2: I went to the steakhouse fig of the chow, right,
- 40:33Speaker 2: and so my daughter hits me up, Dad, I need McDonald's. Right.
- 40:37Speaker 2: I'm like, because we go somewhere, you need to get
- 40:40Speaker 2: something too. Like we have way more Trader Joe's in
- 40:43Speaker 2: our house than most people, right, I'm talking about we
- 40:45Speaker 2: have refrigerators. And because we go out, you need to
- 40:48Speaker 2: go out to my son. He's a little hustler. He
- 40:51Speaker 2: sells stuff on eBay, He goes buys whatever. Hell, I
- 40:53Speaker 2: can't say shit to him, right, he just does. He
- 40:56Speaker 2: is the ultimate hustle. Starts a hustle name. So he
- 40:59Speaker 2: bought me these glasses. You know, he's like he's fifteen,
- 41:02Speaker 2: thinks he's going to get a Tesla for his sixteenth birthday.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know about that one. I mean,
- 41:06Speaker 2: I want to spoil him, But at the same token,
- 41:09Speaker 2: I feel like I'm doing a disjustice if I don't
- 41:11Speaker 2: get him a shitty car. Yeah yeah, you know, like
- 41:13Speaker 2: I feel like I need to humble them.
- 41:14Speaker 1: But he sounds like he sounds like a hustler.
- 41:16Speaker 2: He's the biggest hustler. He hustles me. But he's a
- 41:20Speaker 2: great driver. And I think I have to punk him
- 41:21Speaker 2: a little bit because he's just you know, his mom
- 41:24Speaker 2: is white, and I'm like that, you know, third world country,
- 41:28Speaker 2: you know, got here to the United States. I feel
- 41:30Speaker 2: like I got to, like, you know, kind of beat
- 41:32Speaker 2: him up a little bit, give him a little bit
- 41:33Speaker 2: of that, because this American lifestyle is like it's fake.
- 41:36Speaker 2: A lot of it's fake. I don't think there's any
- 41:38Speaker 2: kind of like grass roots that really gets you to
- 41:41Speaker 2: understand culture. I think the people that in this country,
- 41:45Speaker 2: the ones that that have culture are the Latins, the Asians,
- 41:49Speaker 2: the blacks, right because not talking shit about whites right
- 41:53Speaker 2: at all, because my mom's white, but white people tend
- 41:57Speaker 2: to replace their time at the tape with activities, business
- 42:02Speaker 2: TVs other bullshit, right, But you're not doing that in
- 42:06Speaker 2: Asian culture. You're not doing that a black Try doing
- 42:09Speaker 2: that with a black culture and say, hey, mom, I'm
- 42:11Speaker 2: gonna go watch TV. I'm gonna watch the Simpsons. See
- 42:13Speaker 2: what ye see what mom's gonna say? Right, Latin try,
- 42:17Speaker 2: I dare you see what that's gonna work work out
- 42:19Speaker 2: for you? But a white person is again, my mom's white, Okay,
- 42:24Speaker 2: but you can take your food up to your bedroom
- 42:27Speaker 2: and eat alone like first class, right, Like is it
- 42:30Speaker 2: that true?
- 42:32Speaker 1: I don't know enough white people to.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Know, but well I'm just saying like that, that looks good.
- 42:37Speaker 1: You you hooked me up. I like it with the
- 42:39Speaker 1: cheese melted.
- 42:40Speaker 2: No, no, we're gonna get you to this.
- 42:43Speaker 1: So when does real estate come into play?
- 42:46Speaker 2: Well, you know when real estate came to play because
- 42:50Speaker 2: I wanted to get more mortgage brokers to come work
- 42:53Speaker 2: for me.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Right, this is after you're broke, After you go broke,
- 42:57Speaker 1: you get into estate.
- 42:58Speaker 2: No, this was before okay, okay, so this is how
- 43:01Speaker 2: I started segreating into it. So the story is kind
- 43:03Speaker 2: of like choppy, but it's it's there. Right, that's a
- 43:05Speaker 2: little bit of add from me. So in my mortgage days,
- 43:10Speaker 2: I was meeting all these real estate agents right to
- 43:12Speaker 2: work with our company to you know, get their clients.
- 43:16Speaker 2: The real estate agents have clients obviously they have mortgages,
- 43:18Speaker 2: and you know, trying to get them on board with
- 43:20Speaker 2: our retail center, right because I had wholesale and I
- 43:22Speaker 2: had retail.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Do you have to turn off those stoves?
- 43:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's it. One's offer here. Yeah, don't burn yourself. No, No,
- 43:29Speaker 2: it's good, it's good. It's good. We got insurance. So
- 43:32Speaker 2: this is what happened, right, The retail mortgage loan officers
- 43:37Speaker 2: were not getting enough from their real estate agents. So
- 43:40Speaker 2: I had a partner that you know, God rests in
- 43:43Speaker 2: peace for him, and only he died. But he he said, ty,
- 43:47Speaker 2: why don't I do all the mortgages and you go
- 43:49Speaker 2: out there and become a real estate agent and but
- 43:52Speaker 2: not really sell properties. Go to every real estate firm,
- 43:55Speaker 2: meet all the real estate agents and have them send
- 43:57Speaker 2: me business, take them, take them out to wine and
- 44:01Speaker 2: dine them and show them a lifestyle because you're still
- 44:03Speaker 2: getting half of my money, and go be the secret agent.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 44:07Speaker 2: And that's that's what I was. I went to the
- 44:09Speaker 2: col world bankers, the remaxes, you know, the executive real
- 44:13Speaker 2: estate companies, and I went and did all the meetings
- 44:17Speaker 2: and you know, the tour, the tours of the buildings
- 44:21Speaker 2: and general managers, and I would go take them out
- 44:23Speaker 2: for lunches and say, hey, I got this really great.
- 44:26Speaker 2: You know, loan officer Nolan Nelson is amazing. You should
- 44:29Speaker 2: really use them. You should just call them here, just
- 44:31Speaker 2: call them. And then hey, hey, Nolan, take this take
- 44:34Speaker 2: this girl out. You know, she likes horses and stuff,
- 44:36Speaker 2: whatever she likes going out and dancing. Take her. So
- 44:39Speaker 2: we would schmooz people, and I wouldn't even do business.
- 44:42Speaker 2: I would just schmooze people for a living, right because
- 44:44Speaker 2: I was still making it crazy money. I still have
- 44:46Speaker 2: my Mercedes and all this crazy lifestyle. And before you
- 44:49Speaker 2: know it, I'm starting to get business. I'm like real estate, Okay, cool,
- 44:54Speaker 2: now you're getting Now I'm really double dipping here. So
- 44:58Speaker 2: now I'm really double dipping. And I got my first
- 45:01Speaker 2: deal and I'm selling this guy a property. Francis Verrillo,
- 45:06Speaker 2: what was his name? And Julio Julio, I can't Julio.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'm not sure his name was. But I sold two
- 45:12Speaker 2: of the properties or painters, and you know, they used
- 45:16Speaker 2: our mortage company, and I just didn't realize, like how
- 45:20Speaker 2: easy this was. I'm like, real estate, this is dune.
- 45:22Speaker 2: This is like show property. Rite a contract. You know,
- 45:25Speaker 2: even in my first contract ever even wrote I put
- 45:27Speaker 2: the wrong address. I'm like, God, I sold the house
- 45:30Speaker 2: next door. Thank God the APN number was right on
- 45:33Speaker 2: that contract because the address was wrong.
- 45:36Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I'm like, I sold the property next door and they
- 45:38Speaker 2: signed off on it. This is crazy. Might ensued, right,
- 45:41Speaker 2: I was freaking So my real estate experience has not
- 45:44Speaker 2: been easy. The fact that I'm even good at it,
- 45:47Speaker 2: you know, boggles me. But I'm actually not even good.
- 45:49Speaker 2: I'm actually a guru probably at this point because I've
- 45:51Speaker 2: already went through the trials and tribulations of you know,
- 45:54Speaker 2: the chaos. But you know, I always had multiple incomes
- 45:59Speaker 2: from that real estate from when I got into real estate,
- 46:03Speaker 2: to the mortgage side to the wholesale side. You know,
- 46:06Speaker 2: I've done fairly well. That's why I could always go
- 46:08Speaker 2: from one or the other, or or or dibbled out
- 46:10Speaker 2: in both this day and age. I don't do anything
- 46:13Speaker 2: with mortgages other than you know, as long as they
- 46:15Speaker 2: give a good customer service, I'm cool with it. I
- 46:18Speaker 2: stick in one and one genre, which is just the
- 46:21Speaker 2: real estate and luxury and you know my clientele. Mmm good,
- 46:28Speaker 2: m hm. You don't really like onions.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Though, No, but you know what, I've just been into one.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I'm so glad. I put very little onions. Let us do?
- 46:37Speaker 1: Did you put lettus?
- 46:38Speaker 2: No? But I'm hungry, so I eat everything. I'm not
- 46:41Speaker 2: really much of a complaint.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Avocado avocado right here?
- 46:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you got to hook it up, bro Well,
- 46:47Speaker 2: I mean listen, I was grabbing the the onions. I
- 46:50Speaker 2: was grabbing the hot, the hot halapenos.
- 46:52Speaker 1: You can never go wrong being broke and eating tacos.
- 46:57Speaker 1: This is amazing. And you know what, the hot sauce does.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Help.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Should put more hot sauce and mustards.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Right, that's that broke trick right there, when you got avocado.
- 47:08Speaker 1: On the tacola bomb. I don't even think I do
- 47:11Speaker 1: that ever in real life.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Really, they're so bomb. You you that sugar and lemon?
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know what, I have a sugar You
- 47:19Speaker 1: know how people like alcohol and drugs. My advice is
- 47:23Speaker 1: sugar like there's a TwixT in my car right now?
- 47:25Speaker 1: Really like, please you just don't go down there and
- 47:27Speaker 1: eat it?
- 47:28Speaker 2: We do like paper oxylity, who gets up? Boom?
- 47:37Speaker 1: Where does Loving Listings come in to play?
- 47:42Speaker 2: Hmm?
- 47:44Speaker 1: Love just Taco is so good everyone, I'm gonna eat
- 47:46Speaker 1: the whole thing. Well, you're hungry too, Oh, I'm hungry
- 47:51Speaker 1: all right, go on.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Love en Listings right mm hmm. I worked with so
- 47:57Speaker 2: many rappers people in the entertainment industry that I decided
- 48:04Speaker 2: to grab myself home. I'm just filmed bits and pieces
- 48:09Speaker 2: of it and after a while looking at the foot
- 48:11Speaker 2: and I'm like, this looks like it could be a show,
- 48:14Speaker 2: said Cribs. You know, no one was doing what I
- 48:16Speaker 2: was doing.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Before all the other real estate shows start piling in.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I mean there was Cribs, but yeah, I mean I
- 48:23Speaker 2: was definitely pioneering it before the selling sound says. But
- 48:29Speaker 2: the problem is they didn't show like the million doi
- 48:33Speaker 2: listening was out there, but it didn't show the diversity
- 48:36Speaker 2: that the Jamaicans, right, the Blacks, the Latins that had
- 48:42Speaker 2: money too, that were buying all these properties. They showed
- 48:47Speaker 2: the millionarire listenings that were showing you saw the white people,
- 48:52Speaker 2: and you saw that they had a specific you know,
- 48:55Speaker 2: client sele that were wealthy, but you never saw the
- 48:58Speaker 2: culture people have money. So you know, what does that
- 49:02Speaker 2: say to our kids that blacks don't have money, Asians
- 49:05Speaker 2: don't have money? What is that? I mean, there's crazy
- 49:07Speaker 2: rich Asians that came way further, you know, later in
- 49:10Speaker 2: the process. But I saw there was a need for it.
- 49:14Speaker 2: So I started filming stuff and I used rappers that
- 49:17Speaker 2: I was friends with as a gateway because they were
- 49:20Speaker 2: buying and renting houses for extraordinarily high price, right because
- 49:26Speaker 2: they were underprivileged, underserved, and when they wanted it, they
- 49:29Speaker 2: wanted it. They wanted it because no one ever gave
- 49:32Speaker 2: them the opportunity to have it. So for me, I
- 49:36Speaker 2: was that guy that said, hey, why don't we, you know,
- 49:41Speaker 2: get them a better deal as opposed to because this
- 49:44Speaker 2: is a culture of rappers. I want it. I'm gonna
- 49:47Speaker 2: spend that money and don't even negotiate price.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I've I've noticed that they don't negotiate at all.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Huh, they don't. They just want it right because it's
- 49:54Speaker 2: they just it's it's something they want. So I always
- 49:57Speaker 2: came out.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Most of these rappers act like street You would think
- 50:00Speaker 1: they would think to negotiate.
- 50:02Speaker 2: No, because it's a flex. But how much that flex?
- 50:06Speaker 2: How many shows do you have to do? You know
- 50:08Speaker 2: for that flex? So you know I always treated everybody
- 50:11Speaker 2: fairly and said let's do this price. Let's do it
- 50:14Speaker 2: that price, right, you know, Rockstar. I did his house right.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I door knocked on that. He said time, I want
- 50:19Speaker 2: to be in this area, very very predominant. Are he
- 50:21Speaker 2: lives in Chatsworth.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I know because he's friends with one of my friends.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so I door knocked on that house and I
- 50:26Speaker 2: negotiated it and we got him the house.
- 50:28Speaker 1: You door knocked it.
- 50:29Speaker 2: I door knocked it because he said time I want
- 50:31Speaker 2: to be in the area. So and you'll tell you like,
- 50:34Speaker 2: I'm that guy like I'll look out for people. If
- 50:36Speaker 2: you want it, I'll figure it out.
- 50:37Speaker 1: That is actually everyone that I know that knows you,
- 50:40Speaker 1: handful of people, literally handful, they've all said the same
- 50:44Speaker 1: thing about you. And I met you within five seconds
- 50:48Speaker 1: and I felt it. So I was like, oh okay,
- 50:52Speaker 1: because we met and then you were like, hey, this
- 50:54Speaker 1: is you know, equality is a big thing for me.
- 50:58Speaker 2: You know, my dad's Asian, My mom's wife. And because
- 51:01Speaker 2: I look a certain way, I have certain benefits, but
- 51:06Speaker 2: when I'm with my dad, he doesn't have the same benefits.
- 51:10Speaker 2: So it's always really important to see that people get
- 51:12Speaker 2: treated correctly and honestly, because at the end of the day,
- 51:17Speaker 2: regardless of their skin color and the money that they
- 51:21Speaker 2: have in their bank account, they deserve to be respected
- 51:25Speaker 2: and be treated fairly. And that's the problem society. So
- 51:29Speaker 2: I carved out a lane, you know, for something that
- 51:32Speaker 2: I believe would be a hit, you know, which was
- 51:34Speaker 2: love and Listenings.
- 51:35Speaker 1: And how hard was it to sell the show?
- 51:37Speaker 2: It wasn't wasn't that hard. It was more about who
- 51:41Speaker 2: did I know to get me to the place that
- 51:44Speaker 2: I needed to go right And just like the cameraman
- 51:47Speaker 2: that's here now, I said, you always have to have
- 51:50Speaker 2: one good person that wants to see you win, and
- 51:53Speaker 2: to utilize that person, to keep on doing good to
- 51:55Speaker 2: that person, to utilize that to go to the next
- 51:58Speaker 2: place is that you need to go. It's playing chess.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 2: So because I studied so much psychology, I understand you
- 52:04Speaker 2: know what one person can do. If say calling you
- 52:06Speaker 2: know ten people and you know the head of Netflix,
- 52:10Speaker 2: I might have a conversation with you saying, well, what
- 52:12Speaker 2: would you think about this product? Could you take it
- 52:14Speaker 2: to Ted Surranders? Right? And you know, can you find
- 52:17Speaker 2: out I would ask you the questions to see if
- 52:19Speaker 2: you would do it, you know, but it's very important
- 52:22Speaker 2: to understand, you know, the value of each person. Everybody
- 52:25Speaker 2: has value, and I think that a lot of people
- 52:28Speaker 2: don't utilize it like the way they should. I'm just
- 52:31Speaker 2: a master at it.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I like too that you said that find
- 52:37Speaker 1: find some of that wants to see you win. And
- 52:40Speaker 1: then I feel like that's when it comes to like
- 52:42Speaker 1: all my mentors, a lot of my relationships, you know,
- 52:46Speaker 1: I feel like I've been very blessed and fortunate to
- 52:49Speaker 1: have like a group that wants to see you win,
- 52:52Speaker 1: but just an amazing group of people I've been. I
- 52:54Speaker 1: don't know, God just keeps a blessing me.
- 52:57Speaker 2: We have to ask a lot of questions too, you know,
- 52:59Speaker 2: for yourself, like where do you do a show? Right?
- 53:03Speaker 2: But where's this show going to be honest? Is gonna
- 53:05Speaker 2: be like a major network, the Food Network? And who
- 53:08Speaker 2: knows the executive from the Food Network? Right, Like I
- 53:12Speaker 2: know that Samuel Jackson's daughter ran the Food Network.
- 53:15Speaker 1: I didn't know that and I know that fact.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know, and you have to know, like, okay,
- 53:21Speaker 2: so who knows. I know Stevie Wonders good friends with
- 53:23Speaker 2: Samuel Jackson. I know I know Stevie Ander's wife. So
- 53:25Speaker 2: you have to like put these things into the atmosphere.
- 53:28Speaker 2: How you're going to actually accomplish that goal. Most people
- 53:31Speaker 2: do not do that, right. People forget goals, right. We
- 53:34Speaker 2: have schedules, but we don't have goals right. So it's
- 53:38Speaker 2: important to really put your goals together and accomplish it.
- 53:42Speaker 2: So going back to the show stuff, I did all
- 53:45Speaker 2: the leg work right. I cast the show, I shot
- 53:47Speaker 2: part of it, had a very amazing partner that was
- 53:51Speaker 2: blessed to come help me and actually produce the stuff.
- 53:53Speaker 2: He was actually one of the first creators of the
- 53:57Speaker 2: Zeus Network, which was called the Black Box, Sean Matthews.
- 54:01Speaker 1: And oh he's one of the founding creators of that was.
- 54:05Speaker 2: For l PM Media, which was Lemmy's company. I mean,
- 54:08Speaker 2: Lemmy has done amazing with you know, with Zeus Network.
- 54:11Speaker 2: When no one believed in him. He believed in himself.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Whether I like him or not, you have to give
- 54:17Speaker 2: him credit. For what he's done, you know, and he's
- 54:20Speaker 2: living his best life. He manifested that he created it
- 54:22Speaker 2: and he's staying with it. So going back to the
- 54:25Speaker 2: show that I was doing, it's something that I had
- 54:29Speaker 2: a vision and I believed more than anybody. Anything that
- 54:33Speaker 2: you want to do in life, you have to believe
- 54:35Speaker 2: it as if you already achieved it. From achievement, you
- 54:40Speaker 2: go reverse, Now that I already have it, how do
- 54:42Speaker 2: you go back? What did all the steps that you
- 54:44Speaker 2: had to do to get to that achievement? And then
- 54:47Speaker 2: once you get to the last step, which is where
- 54:49Speaker 2: you're at now, now you can move forward. Now you
- 54:51Speaker 2: have a business plan and that's my secrets, right. And
- 54:55Speaker 2: I have a show that I just shot for NBC Universal.
- 54:58Speaker 2: It hasn't in greenlit yet, but I'm pretty sure it
- 55:01Speaker 2: will be because it's such a great concept and we
- 55:04Speaker 2: feel really good about it. But you know, these are
- 55:06Speaker 2: just small things. It's like, it's not necessarily do I
- 55:09Speaker 2: think that that that they're the best ideas. It's just
- 55:12Speaker 2: that I believe in it more than most.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, well yeah, well what can we be looking
- 55:19Speaker 1: forward to coming from you? I know, it doesn't seem
- 55:22Speaker 1: like you want to open up too much about this
- 55:24Speaker 1: new show that's going to be greenlit. It's another real
- 55:27Speaker 1: estate shows, another real estate show. So you're still doing
- 55:30Speaker 1: real estate. You're still doing television production.
- 55:34Speaker 2: You know, I don't really tell people I do so
- 55:35Speaker 2: much producing. You know, I have made quite a bit
- 55:40Speaker 2: of impact and made money.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 55:43Speaker 2: It's a hobby to me. Okay, not my career.
- 55:46Speaker 1: But your career is just strictly real estate.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Strictly real estate. So anything that's tied to real estate,
- 55:51Speaker 2: whether it's TV or building houses, just I'm a real
- 55:55Speaker 2: estate professional.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I like going on your stories and seeing the
- 55:58Speaker 1: houses and all that. If you guys want to keep
- 56:01Speaker 1: up with tie, go ahead tell them how to do it.
- 56:05Speaker 2: Instagram socials, no, just really just Instagram. I mean I
- 56:09Speaker 2: have a Twitter, barely use it, but three ten agent,
- 56:11Speaker 2: three one O agent.
- 56:12Speaker 1: That's me, three old agent.
- 56:14Speaker 2: I don't got very many pictures. I got seven. But
- 56:16Speaker 2: you know I don't post any of the celebrities i'm with.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Just you know, I would say this right in closing
- 56:21Speaker 2: to this. You know, everybody is a celebrity right in
- 56:25Speaker 2: their own head, but really make sure you put the
- 56:27Speaker 2: foundation for yourself make sure that you're being purposeful in
- 56:32Speaker 2: your life, and if you have a dream, make sure
- 56:35Speaker 2: that you head towards that dream and do it with
- 56:38Speaker 2: the right intentions. That's it, That's what a real celebrity is.
- 56:42Speaker 1: I love that you heard it here first on Eating
