- 0:00He's very self centered and just hasn't actually been in love. Like,
- 0:03doesn't know how to had a woman on his arm or something. Different women.
- 0:07Like, I'm pretty sure a challenge accepted was, can I sleep with
- 0:11a woman on Every month or was it every week? I think it was Monday.
- 0:14It was every day a different woman for a month. Rise
- 0:18and shine, ladies. You're tuned in to skirts up with Samantha and Melissa. We got
- 0:22your daily dose of hope and humor while we discuss everything from failing
- 0:25to succeeding and all the spiciness in between. Hey.
- 0:29It's Amanda again. Hey. It's Melissa, and we are
- 0:33back. Yes. Episode 3. Yeah.
- 0:37Look at us just trucking along. This is kinda fun.
- 0:40So today, we have a guest. And I'm really
- 0:43excited. This is somebody that Sam has known
- 0:47through a Facebook group for a while. And
- 0:51when we first started the podcast, Sam, you came to
- 0:55me and you were like, there's this girl. She's so cool.
- 0:58She's so nice. She's nonjudgmental. I've never in my life been
- 1:02in a drama free Facebook group. And
- 1:06this is a drama free Facebook group. And it's called what's the name of
- 1:10your group again, Lola? It is Not Your Mama's Mom group
- 1:14Okay. On Facebook. Okay. And Lola, who,
- 1:18is the creator of the Not Your Momma's Facebook group.
- 1:22And tell us a little bit about that.
- 1:26So I kinda started it when my son was maybe 6 months
- 1:29old, like, 4 years ago almost now. That's your first
- 1:33baby? Yes. My first baby. So I didn't really have, like,
- 1:37a close community or, you know, friends and family to
- 1:41kind of help me and get advice from. So
- 1:44I and also all the other mom groups that I was
- 1:48in were just so toxic, like, the drama and
- 1:52Impressive. Yes. For no reason. Like, why are you coming at
- 1:55me like that? We're all supposed to be, you know, knitted together,
- 1:59helping each other. Like so I like
- 2:03so many groups. The other mama groups are like, if you post,
- 2:07hey. I'm having a hard time trying to make a
- 2:11decision about, do I give my baby the COVID vaccine or
- 2:15not? Then, like, another mom will jump in and be like, if you give your
- 2:18child the COVID vaccine, you're a fucking idiot. Yeah. But then the other moms will
- 2:22jump in and be like, oh, you all are gonna kill the population if
- 2:25you don't. And it's like, woah. Woah. Woah. She just asked you to, like
- 2:30you know, like, there's no need to attack somebody like that.
- 2:33So after seeing that in so many of the groups, I just wanted to create
- 2:37something that made me feel good and made other people feel good and
- 2:41safe. And, you know, like, we're all in it together as a
- 2:45community at the end of the day. You know? So so
- 2:48I actually how did you get such a cool group of
- 2:52people? Like, where did you start? Did you send it out to your not
- 2:56must not have been your your where did you get people?
- 3:00What did I do? I think I may have shared it with a couple of
- 3:03my friends, and they just started inviting people. Like, the group
- 3:07started in Lilburn, and that's where I'm from. And a lot of people
- 3:10went to high school with me there. Yes. So, it's based out
- 3:14in Lilburn. So a lot of people from Lilburn have joined, but also
- 3:18other people, like from different states, different countries. We have
- 3:22a couple people from the UK and Canada, Australia, stuff
- 3:25like that. So, I mean, it gets shared pretty much everywhere. And the
- 3:29more people that, other people invite, you know,
- 3:33obviously, it starts to chain of, you know, the
- 3:37in invites and stuff like that. It keeps everyone communicating in a
- 3:40positive way. Mhmm. Because I I don't have kids. So I'm not trying to
- 3:44make this about me right now, but I do well, I think I have a
- 3:47lot of experience with moms and mom groups because I used to
- 3:51nanny. I nannied for, like, 9 years. I'd
- 3:55well, my babies suffer quite a few different families, but I,
- 3:59I would have to say nanny because I was, Yeah. Nanny is a better word
- 4:03anyway. Baby stat, just like you're sitting on baby, really?
- 4:07So, anyway, I guess my point is, I remember
- 4:10going to some of these groups and I'm I
- 4:14I'm an outsider. I was sitting there watching all of the moms.
- 4:17Right? I was the one that was watching other I I had brought
- 4:21children to the group to play for playgroups and stuff, and,
- 4:25most moms were really nice. I kinda feel like,
- 4:31sitting back and watching everybody, there is a lot of there
- 4:34was a lot of judgment. And I feel like for some reason,
- 4:38we as women, it's easy to, like,
- 4:44bond over attacking someone else. Does that make
- 4:47sense? And I I don't love that. It makes me really
- 4:51sad because when I'm looking at all these women, I feel like I could
- 4:55see, oh, yeah. She's a little bit insecure in this aspect and
- 4:58she's got issues in this aspect. But I think that's
- 5:02more of what it is. Not like because that's not bonding. Jealous
- 5:06over what you have, I think, is what that is.
- 5:10Because anger has to send from somewhere else. It's gotta come
- 5:14from somewhere else, you know? So I think most of the time
- 5:18when moms in general see something, they're like, oh, I wish I had
- 5:22that. But also, like, I'm gonna be rude to her because I don't have
- 5:26that. And I have the privilege to be. It's like, what? Ew. Why? It is
- 5:29it gives you something to work on for sure. And Melissa, that's a really great
- 5:33point of view because these mom groups, that's an actually really valid
- 5:37Mhmm. Point that, like, I
- 5:41think that You see a lot of it, though. Yeah. Like, that makes a lot
- 5:44of sense that you would join a mom group because when you're full
- 5:48day long term taking care of a child, that's really valid.
- 5:51Why would you not want that support as well to better learn
- 5:55how to x y z? Like, constantly,
- 5:59you know, communicate
- 6:07sense. Right. Right. And I think a lot of times, we just want some
- 6:11validation that what we're doing is okay, and we forget that
- 6:15it's okay to say, hey. Well, I think also society
- 6:19makes us so scared of failure, right, and messing up. Oh,
- 6:22because either thing that you do is a failure to
- 6:26someone. Yep. And it's like, you know what? I think that everybody's
- 6:30just so afraid of just being judged that
- 6:33they kind of, like, do the judging first, if that makes sense. I think that
- 6:36happened so long. Yeah. But so I think it's amazing that you could start a
- 6:40group. But I guess we've introduced Lola, so I was
- 6:43thinking maybe we go into our topic of today? Yeah. What
- 6:47is our topic today, fam? Today, our topic is our
- 6:51top 6 favorite TV shows of all times.
- 6:54Okay. Why did you decide to do this topic?
- 6:58I chose this topic because, right now, I'm a stay at
- 7:02home mom. I don't get to discuss anything with anyone. Like, it's
- 7:06just the mundane, normal day to day conversations with
- 7:10just my husband about how was your day? What did you do today?
- 7:13And if I'm reading a book or if I'm watching a TV show that I've
- 7:17never seen before, all my commentaries are just in my
- 7:20head. Something about that TV show that just really,
- 7:24really I felt really passionate about and really, really loved. I don't have anyone to
- 7:28share it with. You're right. I can't get
- 7:32my husband to watch the same shows as me. Exactly. And then we're,
- 7:35like, we're both going different directions. Right? We're very busy. It's not that Mhmm. We
- 7:39do have some shows that we watch together, but and it's like, I really wanna
- 7:42talk to him about this. But, yeah, okay. They don't know what I'm talking about,
- 7:45so they can't give me any feedback or their opinion on it. Yes. And so
- 7:49the shows that I have felt something very
- 7:52passionate about, like, I'll be this I'll be explaining it,
- 7:56and, he'll be like, that sounds like a really weird thing to
- 8:00feel passionate about. And I'm like, you just you would have to understand. You would
- 8:04have to see what I'm talking about to understand why, like, it just feels so
- 8:07passionate. I will say that we have one show that we,
- 8:11like, have watched together. And at first, he told me absolutely not. Like, this is
- 8:14gonna be dumb. But now it's become both of our comfort shows. So there is
- 8:18one of those. So at least there's one. Are you gonna share?
- 8:22What is the show? Yeah. So, it's actually
- 8:26my top one. It's called How I Met Your Mother.
- 8:30That one. Okay. Have you seen it, Melissa? I
- 8:34have seen it. I did not get into watching it all the time, but I
- 8:37have seen it. And it is funny. It's funny. It's cute. Yeah.
- 8:41So that one is my favorite. It's my favorite go
- 8:45to, like, if I'm just exhausted,
- 8:57For those who've never seen it, what's the premise of that show? So that
- 9:00show, it's about a group of friends, and it's basically just
- 9:04their life together. The whole point is that the main character, Ted
- 9:08Mosby, is explaining to his children how he met their
- 9:12mother through, like, what, like, 8 seasons, 10 seasons? Like,
- 9:15stories and stuff like that. Yeah. And it's just episodes about
- 9:19that. Yeah. About And their friendship through along the way and stuff like that. The
- 9:22ending is probably my favorite. Oh, I actually the ending The ending,
- 9:26I have seen it. And I cried even though I'm didn't get invested into the
- 9:30whole thing. Cry every time. It's the only only, only show
- 9:34that makes me cry every time. But I think it's because it the
- 9:38ending of that show actually makes me a little frustrated because you have
- 9:42this long buildup of finding the mother and how he got to the mother and
- 9:46how he got to his wife and just this, like, basically love story
- 9:49of how he got to her. And they bring her
- 9:53in in the last, like, season, so about, like, the last 4 or
- 9:575 episodes, honestly. Spoiler alert. Oh,
- 10:00yes. Spoiler alert. And then so
- 10:04you fall in love with with this mother and with his
- 10:08wife, and they don't give you enough time to to
- 10:11get to know her. They don't give you enough time to get to know her.
- 10:15And before we know it, it just shows us that she dies. And
- 10:19that's basically how it ends. And so for me, it's so
- 10:23frustrating that you just fall in love with this character, and you just fall in
- 10:26love with her. And then boom, over. She dead.
- 10:30Yeah. No. That is
- 10:33so sad. And then anything like where children don't have like a
- 10:37parent like that just gets me. That's so hard for me. And then the
- 10:41other but the but the part of the ending that I do love
- 10:45is that I love very much, the, what's that
- 10:48word called, the character change in Barney, his
- 10:52progression, and how his character changes because
- 10:56he goes from not ever wanting a family, not ever having
- 10:59love, like, just not having that as well. Self
- 11:03centered, right? He's very self centered and just hasn't actually
- 11:07been in love. Like, doesn't know how to He always had a woman on his
- 11:10arm or something. Different women. Like, I'm pretty sure a challenge
- 11:13accepted was can I sleep with a woman on Okay? A
- 11:17different day of the month. Every month or was every week? I think it was
- 11:20Monday. It was every day a different woman for a month. Yeah.
- 11:24That sounds like a lot. Yeah. And it ends with him having
- 11:28a baby and finally having that connection of finding a true love. And it was
- 11:32his little girl. Oh, I have a
- 11:35baby. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It was so good. And
- 11:39like, and that's just my favorite. That's my favorite go to
- 11:42for a background television because it's just I know
- 11:46exactly what's gonna happen. I can really laugh with it. I love their quotes and,
- 11:50like, their inside jokes, and I I freaking use their inside jokes, like, in real
- 11:53life all the time. So which one of you wanna go first?
- 11:57What is your top favorite go to? So I have
- 12:01a few shows that I have to choose a top. I don't think I can
- 12:04do that. I just I've never been one of those people that can choose a
- 12:07top, but I can choose, like, a top 5. Beautiful. But
- 12:11I'll just give you guys a couple. I've got, like, the office, parks and rec,
- 12:15the IT crowd. Do you guys know that one? I don't know that one. I've
- 12:18actually never seen any of those. I know I'm, like, a minor of the group.
- 12:22That's okay. And then New Girl, which I've been
- 12:26doing now. New Girl. It's the best. The best. I am obsessed with
- 12:30New Girl too. So oh, and then one more. Sorry. The Mindy Project.
- 12:33I love The Mindy Project so much because have you ever
- 12:37watched I've heard about it. Alright, girl. You're gonna have to pick 1. The Mindy
- 12:41Project then. I'm gonna pick The Mindy Project. Okay.
- 12:45She played Kelly in The Office, but, anyway Oh, I know
- 12:49who you're talking about. Yeah. I think it's Mindy Kaling is her name. She
- 12:52plays a gynecologist, who's, like, in her
- 12:56twenties, late twenties, early thirties, and living in, like, New York. The
- 13:00relatable. Trying to, like, date. And
- 13:05I love it because she's kind of she's a very flawed
- 13:09character. Very flawed. She's relatable,
- 13:13but, like, she's also kind of a bitch. She's okay.
- 13:17So she's not she's not always that nice, but,
- 13:21she's kinda self centered. That's self reflection. Yes.
- 13:25Does she at least progress into, like, a grown character? Like
- 13:29it's like the episodes clearly show that it's not
- 13:33a secret. Like, everybody knows she is, and I don't know. I feel like she
- 13:36kinda works. I don't know. I think anything that could make you look at yourself,
- 13:39like, am I like that too? Is a good is a good
- 13:43thing. I wanna say yes. Yes.
- 13:48She does. She ends up having a kid and kinda yeah. No. She
- 13:51does. It's just very slow. And I don't know. For me, maybe it
- 13:55was slow for me too. I'm 43, and I wanna say a lot of
- 13:59the things I learned about my life, I didn't really learn till well into my
- 14:02thirties. And so I don't know. Maybe
- 14:05maybe that's another reason I kind of relate to her, and I like her. But
- 14:09some of my favorite comedians are from that show. They're, like, they're knit.
- 14:13Yeah. To add that to my list? Yeah. Yeah. It's it's it's
- 14:16really good. She's just got all of these stereotypes in this show
- 14:20too. Like, she has, like, the New York guy who's, like, super tough, and
- 14:24he can't get in touch with his feminine side. And then, like, there's the other
- 14:27male gynecologists that work upstairs from them that they have a rivalry
- 14:31with. And they're super, like, holistic, and they don't believe
- 14:35in natural or they only believe in natural medicine. And so
- 14:38she's obviously, like, an MD doctor, and so there's,
- 14:42like, a huge clash there. They just have all these
- 14:46stereotypes in it, and I That's a real life stereotype, though. Yeah. That is a
- 14:50real life clash. Mean. Right. So I don't,
- 14:53I don't love stereotypes in real life, but I like being able to kinda pick
- 14:57them out and see and be like, you know what? Just because they're being stereotyped
- 15:01But that's exactly what we're here to talk about. It's like just because
- 15:05you strictly believe in one aspect, one
- 15:08one side, and someone else strictly believes in one side, it's
- 15:12real life. And what we're trying to do here, Melissa, is we're trying to
- 15:16get people to nicely see there are two sides to this coin. And
- 15:19just because we don't agree, doesn't mean that we can't
- 15:23be friends. That's or have a difference of opinion.
- 15:27Yes. So it's really fun. I think I'm also someone who will
- 15:31pick out those stereotypes also and be like, oh, that's interesting.
- 15:35They're really ugly to each other. Note. Let's not do that,
- 15:39Samantha. Like Right. Okay. I like that,
- 15:42aspect, that point of view. Sounds good. So what's yours, Lola? What are
- 15:46you gonna share with us? I think my top one is probably Grey's
- 15:50Anatomy. Like, top, top, top because I've seen it about 10
- 15:53times already. I think most people have. Wow. Most people I actually never have seen
- 15:57it all the way through. It's amazing. I haven't seen it all the way through
- 16:01all the new seasons because there's, like, 19 seasons now. Right. Yeah.
- 16:04It's it'll take you, like, months. Like, probably.
- 16:08Yeah. I think it would take me a year to watch it from beginning to
- 16:11end, honestly. But, I mean, it's a great show. Formulaic, though. Right? Like, it's
- 16:15not just, oh, there's, a sickness or a problem. We
- 16:19have to find out what it is. Oh, no. No. No. No. No. No. No.
- 16:21It's, like, based on the characters. Yes. Do you go through the family
- 16:25characters' lives, like, what's happening in the offices and, like,
- 16:28the doctors' offices and, like, there's so much drama
- 16:32in it. And there's no drama in my life, so I need drama somewhere else.
- 16:36You know? Like really valid. That's very I need it. I
- 16:40crave it, but I don't want it in my life. You know? So I just
- 16:43watch it somewhere else. Ever hear how, like, women are
- 16:47a well, I say our age, but, women are addicted to, like,
- 16:51the true crime and the serial killer podcast. Crime.
- 16:54Yes.
- 17:05And watching kids. I need some excitement. Yes. Yeah. That's, you know
- 17:09very true. So it just it brings me out of my shell, and I'm
- 17:12like, oh, yes. Let's let's watch someone else get into it.
- 17:16Yes. For real. I love it. I don't have relationship problems, but oh my
- 17:20god. Let me eat my popcorn, you know? So I think that's
- 17:24I love that. It's something I crave, you know? If you
- 17:27could tell me, like, those I think anything with a little
- 17:31spice in it, like, like, all those books I read are spice. So
- 17:35there's gotta be some type of spice or, like, you know, hotness in it.
- 17:38Otherwise, it's just like That passionate, like, cooking. I
- 17:42will say I'm not, like, a super spicy TV
- 17:46watcher. See it. Yes. I don't want to see it. I
- 17:49actually don't watch a lot of things with nudity. I don't either. So
- 17:53the fact that Grey's Anatomy
- 17:57has that spiciness without the, like, actual visual showing everything
- 18:01because you don't have to do that to to enjoy spicy. True.
- 18:05You don't. Just my personal opinion. I agree. I agree. Yeah. I don't wanna
- 18:08see booty and titties anywhere. I no. I
- 18:12don't, like, want to, but I ain't trying to stare. Don't mind. But you're
- 18:16right. Sometimes it's just gratuitous. Right? Like, sometimes, like, what was the
- 18:20point of that? Right. Did it even add anything? There's,
- 18:24like, a part of me that's bright. That's, like, there just because and then there's,
- 18:27like, a part of me that's, like, okay. At this point, I
- 18:31have seen, like, 10 pairs of tits. Where's the dick? Literally.
- 18:35Yes. Why are the men bodice? Yes. Every single time, I'm like,
- 18:39what? I wanna see some man booty. Right. Not woman booty.
- 18:43Right. Right. Like, I think if there's never Give us
- 18:46give us both some. But the man and the women. Better. Right. And I
- 18:50think that I am getting better at it. I think that for a long time,
- 18:53there was also, like, a sense of, like, self consciousness in it of, like For
- 18:56sure. Okay. I wanna look like that. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Exactly. And
- 19:00now I'm just more confident in how I look. Mhmm. Yeah. Because I've had that
- 19:04surgery. And so now it's You
- 19:07don't have to say I'm confident in how I look because I've had that surgery.
- 19:10You can just be like, I'm hot. I mean, now I feel hot. But You
- 19:14are. You are hot. You are, girl. Yeah. Yikes. But now
- 19:17it just takes away some of that insecurity and that jealousness. So now it pops
- 19:21up on TV. Again, I don't I'm not gonna watch a long love scene
- 19:25where there's nudity in it. It just makes me uncomfortable. Mhmm. But I
- 19:29grew up very sheltered, and I kind of was taught to cringe.
- 19:32Like, my parents would cover my eyes during kissing scenes,
- 19:36and I don't I've kind of worked hard not to be like that. And
- 19:40so there is a part of me that does feel uncomfortable when I watch those
- 19:43scenes too. Just because it's engraved in your head. Yeah. But I don't wanna be
- 19:47that way. I wanna be like, wait. This is just a this is our natural
- 19:50body. But I do think it has to do with this it does need to
- 19:54have to do with the story or else if it's just there for, like, clickbait
- 19:58Just because. Yeah. That's not That is so funny because I don't
- 20:01feel like I was sheltered. I'm just naturally, like, cringe about
- 20:05it. And you were sheltered, so it makes sense that that's
- 20:08programmed in your brain to, oh, I'm supposed to cringe. But I
- 20:12also could see why that makes you feel like I shouldn't
- 20:15be cringing. This is natural, and I'm gonna feel natural about this. Right. And
- 20:19I feel like I should be too in a sense, but, like, I just can't
- 20:23I can't bring myself to, like, sit there and watch it. Exactly. The same. I
- 20:26have, for years, been like, this shouldn't make me cringe. Come on. Snap out of
- 20:30it. Snap out of it. And so then finally, I was like, I think it
- 20:34just makes me uncomfortable, and I think I can just accept that.
- 20:37Like and, you know love that. I'll be respected for it. It's
- 20:41fine. Right. If you have people around you that actually care about you, they're gonna
- 20:45respect you. Like, there is this movie,
- 20:48Leonardo DiCaprio movie. What was it? The wallflower movie. And
- 20:52there's so much nudity in that. Is that, like, Wolf on Wall Street or
- 20:56something? I think so. Okay. So much nudity in that. Yeah. I
- 20:59haven't watched it. My husband literally turn it off, like, 2 minutes. I'm watching
- 21:03it. No worries. Turn it off. Yeah. Oh. And it's with naked girls
- 21:07everywhere. I'm like, what the Yeah. I have a question. Why? I
- 21:10think I I feel like that would stress me out too. Because I feel
- 21:14like they're trying to get a reaction for that. Yes. Right? Yes. It's
- 21:18just been too many sensory overload too. Okay. I feel like we got off
- 21:22topic. Lola, did you explain why
- 21:26Grey's Anatomy makes you passionate? And I just need some kind of,
- 21:29like, brain tingling reinforcements. Do you know?
- 21:33That feeling like you're a Grey's Anatomy doctor. Like, oh, I know what I'm talking
- 21:36about. Be a part of the team. Like, I'll be like, baby,
- 21:40Let's go. New orthotics. Yes. Like, let me fix your boo
- 21:44boos. You gotta know doctor. You gotta stab that pin into the
- 21:47trachea. Yes. And then you gotta, like, put the little,
- 21:51little thing down there and just yeah. The tube thank you. The trachea
- 21:55tube, get the get the 4 on not the 409, but the, like, the
- 21:59Fisler clips. You clip it off like any like, there's just
- 22:03so many possibilities. I really wanna be an OB.
- 22:07Who wants to go on topic number 2 or, show
- 22:11number 2? I can. Shoot. Well, shoot. Do I choose something
- 22:14because here's the thing. Something that
- 22:18has me Something that just really has you
- 22:22really feeling it and, like, why? Okay. It's Fargo.
- 22:26I love all seasons of Fargo. Have you guys ever watched it?
- 22:29No. Melissa, you are way more, like,
- 22:34TV show knowledgeable than we are. I like this. I don't know. I don't know
- 22:38about that. So Fargo is really
- 22:41interesting to me because it's kind of like
- 22:45watching a piece of art. The music is so good.
- 22:49You're sometimes you're just like I was listening I was watching
- 22:52it the other day, and I we have a roommate.
- 22:56My husband and I have somebody that's staying renting a room from us,
- 23:00and he has never seen Fargo. And I was imagining, what
- 23:04does it sound like to him? Because there's long periods of just music
- 23:08Oh. And you're watching things happen, but you're not bored.
- 23:11You're it's very you're kind of feeling the anxiety and the tense
- 23:15and this. And No. I really appreciate
- 23:19you bringing that up because some of the other shows that, like, are on my
- 23:22list, like, it's because of the emotion
- 23:26that they make you feel because of Because I wanna cry today.
- 23:30Because yes. Because of the art and because the way it's videoed because of
- 23:34the way it's directed. Yeah. And that's like what you just explained is
- 23:37like, you love it because of the way it's basically
- 23:41directed and portrayed. Really cool shots and
- 23:45Tell me what is it about. Fargo is an anthology
- 23:48series, meaning that each season's a different
- 23:52story, different time period. Oh. And it's basically
- 23:56this weird murder that happened in this little tiny town. She's
- 24:00pregnant. She's a police officer. And I love that they made,
- 24:05I loved that there was, like, an odd woman.
- 24:08She's kinda like but she's not stupid. She's smart, and
- 24:12she figures things out and while being in the oddball. Yeah. And so
- 24:16that first season kind of was based on that on the
- 24:20on the TV on the movie, I mean. Well, actually, the other thing
- 24:23I like about it too is because there's always multiple stories going on and how,
- 24:27like, sometimes they intertwine and the people from this story have no idea that
- 24:30something over here totally affected what happened to them. Oh.
- 24:34Yeah. It's so fun, and it's so ironic too. Probably
- 24:38happens in real life, honestly. For sure. It's just it's really too smart.
- 24:42How aggressive is it? They call her the type
- 24:45oh, like, do you mean aggressive. Like, trigger Abuse.
- 24:50Abuse. Like, abuse? This this this season, I would say,
- 24:54yes, maybe trigger warning. Yeah. This season, it was
- 24:58really interesting, actually. So like I said, it's art. So when she
- 25:01went back to, like, deal with her past, they did it in a way
- 25:05where they showed it through a puppet show. And it
- 25:09was kinda it was creepy, but it was also, like, I
- 25:12was really glad they weren't showing real people because it was It would have
- 25:16been graphic. Yeah. And if you've ever had had a situation, like, with
- 25:20sexual abuse or anything like that, it could have it could have triggered you for
- 25:23sure. Like, I was Okay. Well, that's good to know because there's definitely shows like
- 25:26Outlander is a lot of people's, like, favorite show. And I can't get
- 25:30past, like, the first and second episode because that's that's enough
- 25:34trigger for me. Like, I can't get past it.
- 25:38Okay. So So I think her topic really
- 25:41reminded me of, Stranger Things just because there's so many
- 25:45different things happening I love Stranger Things. The show. And then I
- 25:49love it. And then, like, there's, in the
- 25:53not chapters. I'm trying to Seasons. Books. In the, seasons. Thank
- 25:56you. There's different, like, sceneries
- 26:00and different places that the demogorgons are
- 26:03taking over, you know. So it's like, it's not in the same spot, but it's
- 26:07nest it's in the same, like, town. Mhmm. But
- 26:10he he just goes to different places around the town. It's
- 26:14like different dimensions? Yes. Right? Is that Yeah. Yeah. The
- 26:18up and the down. Yeah. It's honestly so good, but I hate
- 26:21waiting so long for the seasons. Mhmm. Because I think it's been
- 26:25almost 2 years now. So what about stranger things,
- 26:29like, makes it one of your go to shows? It's just how
- 26:32interesting it is and all the characters. I really love the character, like, build
- 26:36up and displays, the attachments that you
- 26:39make too. There was one attachment, what's his name? The long
- 26:43haired guy with the curly hair. Oh, Billy Billy?
- 26:47Yes. Billy. He was really bad at first
- 26:50Really? With his sister. Yeah. That's right. His
- 26:54character development kind of changed to protecting the town
- 26:58and doing all this stuff for the people of the town. So and he was
- 27:01cute. I know. And so there's, you know, a plus. Yeah. He did do
- 27:05some things to kind of redeem himself, and I was like, they're gonna try
- 27:09to change him, and now I'm supposed to like him, but he's a bad guy.
- 27:13He's such a he was so mean, but then they share his
- 27:16history with his mom and you're crying, and you're like, damn
- 27:20it. Mhmm. But then Yeah. Basically. Yeah. But
- 27:24it's good because it kinda brings us back to what Sam said
- 27:27earlier. Why do we why does everything have to be black and white?
- 27:31Why? Mhmm. Like, things are not just one way. Like, there
- 27:35are different ways to see the same side of the coin or off different money.
- 27:38You know what I'm saying? Mhmm. And if you see someone
- 27:41like, it's it's someone that you knew in high school and you just see
- 27:45them as this person that they were in high school, that doesn't mean
- 27:49that that's who they are at 30 years old. Right. Like,
- 27:53I would hope that, you know, the same bully in
- 27:57middle school or the same bully in high school is not that bad
- 28:01person here at 30 years old. I would have hoped they had some kind
- 28:04of change within themselves. You know? Right. You're
- 28:08right. And, also, we don't even know what was happening to have them
- 28:12act the way they were acting back then anyway. Right? What were they exposed
- 28:16to? What were they like, something's always happening behind closed doors that we
- 28:20don't know about. Always. Yes. Always. You know, now that we're older,
- 28:24you know It's interesting. To the show point, like, you don't
- 28:28you can change your mind because people change, and it just shows that people change.
- 28:31And you don't have to treat them like they were before. Yeah. So
- 28:35Billy, is he one of your favorites? Probably. And
- 28:39then, what's her name? The girl that works at Chips Ahoy.
- 28:43Oh, you're vegan, like Maya. Well, her real life. No. Is her real
- 28:46life? No. That's her name in real life. Real life. Okay. I was like, I
- 28:49don't know her name's in real life, but yeah. Yeah. The girl with the blonde
- 28:52shirt hair, is that who it yeah. I love her. She is so funny and
- 28:55she reminds me of me, like, her weirdness, quirkiness is like
- 28:59Same. Oh, I love her. She's so cute and everything too. And, like, her
- 29:03and Steve, their relationship was so cute. Best friends. Really is.
- 29:07Oh my god. You if you haven't watched it yet I have watched it
- 29:11because my husband's obsessed with it. It's the best. And, usually, I don't like
- 29:14shows like that. It's not one of the ones. Not normally.
- 29:18I'll read books about it, but I'm just now starting to get in,
- 29:22like, my fantasy realm and stuff like that. So I'm kind of opening up
- 29:25more to it. But I think when I started watching it, it
- 29:29was when it first came out, and I was like, yo, what is
- 29:33this? Like, I've never watched anything like this before. So it sucked me
- 29:37in immediately. I was like, Brett, you have to watch this show. It's about
- 29:40kids playing Dungeons and Dragons in the eighties. And he's like,
- 29:44okay. Yeah. It was definitely the opposite for us. Simon's like, oh, I love it.
- 29:48You gotta watch it. It's so good. And I'm like, but it's children.
- 29:52Like, I don't I have enough children to watch. I mean,
- 29:56most of them are, like, adult ish. Now I understand. Now I
- 29:59understand why. It's it is a good it's a good take. Okay.
- 30:03So my my show number 2, let's see. I think
- 30:07we talked about Lola's. We talked about your show 2 number 2. My show number
- 30:102 that I just watch all the time well, not all the
- 30:14time, but, like, when I just want something familiar, is Jane the Virgin.
- 30:18And a lot of people look at me like I'm insane. Like, that show is
- 30:22so stupid. But It's so cute.
- 30:26It's very comical. It's very It's like an umbrella. It
- 30:30is. It's a telenovela. Mhmm. And it's really Is it like ugly Betty
- 30:34was? I never watched that. I haven't watched it either. It's very,
- 30:38it's it's it's basically an Americanized telenovela. I said
- 30:42that wrong. So it's things that would
- 30:45typically not happen in real life. Mhmm. But
- 30:49part of why, especially now, I appreciate that so much is
- 30:53because my life is a telenovela. Like, things that are
- 30:56happening,
- 31:05And so it's just there's a lot of comedy in it. But then I also
- 31:09really like the aspect of where it brings in
- 31:13the challenges, and it really shows you the struggles of an
- 31:16immigrant family that has moved into America and the
- 31:20troubles that they go through and how they're treated. And, and
- 31:24it's just like, I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it. It's just very,
- 31:28like, it's nostalgic. It's
- 31:32like, to me, it's giving you a different
- 31:35perspective, like full body. Yes. Like you are experiencing
- 31:40someone else's experience, and someone does experience that. There are
- 31:43obviously people that that this that part, that aspect
- 31:47is their life that we don't understand because we have not experienced
- 31:50that. So I love that aspect of it. But I also can relate because
- 31:54of my life experiences, especially currently, but also
- 31:58the actors, no one else could play them. No one
- 32:02else could. Yeah.
- 32:06Gina Rodriguez, no one else could play that part. Like, it
- 32:10had to have been her her mom I love her mom. Had to be her.
- 32:13It could not have been anyone else. Her dad could not have been anyone else.
- 32:17Like like when you watch it, I think you pick up yes. You learn
- 32:21their characters. And it's like you understand, like, it could not have been played by
- 32:25anyone else. They really know their character. They do. Like, they
- 32:28have that body. Mhmm. And that is where my obsession and my
- 32:32love for Gina Rodriguez has come from. I watch everything she's been.
- 32:36I love her so much. I wanna be her friend. Okay. What's going on my
- 32:40list? It's Jane the Virgin. It's really good. Super
- 32:43cute. It is cute. But and I, like,
- 32:47I like I don't mind watching shows that bounce back and forth from English to
- 32:51Spanish. Mhmm. It's got, like, a commentary aspect to
- 32:54it. So, that's also really funny. Like like, where they're
- 32:58talking to the camera? Like a narrator person. That narrator in the
- 33:02background that's speaking Jane is feeling very upset today because
- 33:06Yes. I love it. Will she get over that feeling?
- 33:10Yeah. And then it shows you like what and then obviously, it plays
- 33:14out. And I don't know. I just it's one of
- 33:17my shows that just makes me feel things. I was looking up
- 33:21Gina Rodriguez to see what else she's in. Oh, she's in Not Dead
- 33:25Yet. I've seen that a lot of it. That show, I just started
- 33:28watching, and oh my god. I haven't watched the last episode
- 33:32yet. My sister has prepared me to be disappointed, so I'm really
- 33:35that's why I haven't finished it. It. I kinda stopped. Yes. Okay. I'm
- 33:39gonna I'm gonna put both of those on my list then.
- 33:43Okay. So, Lola, give us the number 3
- 33:46show that you couldn't live without.
- 33:50Probably Gilmore Girls, just because it's
- 33:53so comforting to me. And, like, I like the fall seasons
- 33:57in it, the winter seasons in it. Oh, it gives you all the seasons? All
- 34:00the seasons. So you get to, like, experience the change and all the
- 34:04characters, the change in the town, the change in, like, the whole, like,
- 34:07scenery of it. And just I, to me,
- 34:12can sit with a cup of coffee and just enjoy it. Feel like you're in
- 34:15that season with them? That's so fun. Like, this is what I like
- 34:19to hear about, like, the intense details of why someone likes the show. It's so
- 34:23good. And just, like, Lorelei is probably one of my favorite just
- 34:27because I wish I had a mom like that that was so headstrong. And,
- 34:30like, she is not her daughter's mom, but she's also a friend to
- 34:34her and teaches her, you know, right from wrong. But
- 34:38also lets her have, you know, her freedom and what she wants
- 34:42to write. So I also think though, because she
- 34:45had her so young, I also feel like she doesn't know how to be a
- 34:49proper mom and a proper authoritative figure. That's my opinion of
- 34:53it. Though I could see depending on how you were raised,
- 34:56that you wish you had a mom like that. So I could see both. For
- 34:59me, I think it's a lot of irresponsibility and that she should be a
- 35:03little bit better, of a mom. I just wish because my
- 35:07parents were, like, they weren't strict, I would say, but
- 35:11they also had, like, hella rules. You know what I'm saying? So I just
- 35:14wanted a little bit more, like, honestly, where I could talk
- 35:18to my parents and tell them, hey. This is how I'm here. I think in
- 35:22that aspect, but not of, like, so much of the freedom letting me
- 35:25do this and that, but I just wanted that closeness with my parents. To be
- 35:29able to just be open with that without feeling Mhmm. Afraid to tell them
- 35:32something. So it just makes me super uncomfortable. Like, I I or not
- 35:36uncomfortable but comfortable and I wanna live that life and be in Rory's shoes and,
- 35:40you know, experience her college aspects and,
- 35:44you know, go through life with her and just her and Dean and then her
- 35:47other boyfriend and stuff like that. It's just I just the part
- 35:51that I see a lot of is that Rory's growing up
- 35:54feeling like she's the mom and taking care of her mom, and that's something that
- 35:57I just strongly hope that that is not what my family is like.
- 36:01It definitely changes in the end for sure, I think. Mhmm. But
- 36:06Laurel kind of wakes up. Have you seen Gilmore Girls?
- 36:10So I actually, for the reasons that you're saying, thought that
- 36:14I would love it because I love small towns. I love, like,
- 36:17the little coffee shop on the corner with the fall and walking in a sweater
- 36:21and but I couldn't get into it.
- 36:25It was really hard. I felt like there was a lot of complaining about how
- 36:28good their life is. It's a lot of complaining. Lorelei is a
- 36:32very complacent person for sure, and she gets things handed to her and stuff
- 36:36too. These are first world problems.
- 36:40But I couldn't get into it, but
- 36:44I feel like I the the feelings that you're saying it evokes for you
- 36:48are is what I or what I expected that it would effervesce. I, I Yeah.
- 36:51And there's some things obviously that I don't like about it. Like, it's kind of
- 36:55a not I wouldn't say a slow burn, but,
- 36:59it just it's really slow and the characters are just, like,
- 37:03meh. You know, like, their conversations and stuff. Just like,
- 37:07why are there so many pauses in between? You know, like, what are
- 37:10we doing? There's some awkwardness. Yeah. It's so awkward. I
- 37:14it's just one of those shows that I watched one time all the way through,
- 37:17so I don't have this, like, engraved into my memory. Yeah. The more you watch
- 37:20it, the more awkward I think it gets. Yeah. Because you just pick up on
- 37:23all the stuff that you haven't, like, picked up on before. Annoying.
- 37:26Yeah. Oh. Why? Why are we doing that? I think you brought up
- 37:30another Yeah. This makes me feel so weird. Yeah. Like, I think you brought up
- 37:33a good point actually about how you said the characters are meh. Like, I feel
- 37:36like you're onto something. You kinda have to have, like, a passion
- 37:40whether you intensely like or dislike one of them. And, again,
- 37:44there's no black and white. I'm like, I'm not saying they have to either be
- 37:46good or bad, but, I feel like there's
- 37:50gotta be something to make you say feel strongly about them, I
- 37:54guess. Mhmm. You want that? I think you're on to something because,
- 37:58again, we grow from the first time we watch this show. So if we watch
- 38:01this show for the first time when we are 19 years old, and now
- 38:05we're 30 years old rewatching that show, probably what makes us
- 38:08love and feel passionate about a character may make us different. It will
- 38:12probably maybe make us cringe in our thirties of, like No internet. They
- 38:16should not have been acting like that. They should not have said that. They should
- 38:19not have, like, I would hope that I wouldn't be reacting like that at
- 38:22their age. And I bet that as we grow
- 38:26ourselves and as we age ourselves, that how we feel about a
- 38:30topic and a character at one age is not how we feel later.
- 38:33Yeah. That's right. Because I mean, for now, I could rewatch it now.
- 38:37And then my feelings might, you know, be different. That's very possible. It
- 38:41may have been like a favorite at one stage, otherwise. Because it was a while
- 38:44ago when I first started it. So it's just boring to me
- 38:48now. Yeah. So I'm just like, no. I love the
- 38:51coziness of it. Obviously, just it's so so. Is it
- 38:55still like your number 3 show? Probably. Just still to have it in the
- 38:59background? Yeah. Because I'm so you see it, but hearing the noises and stuff
- 39:03that goes on. So, like, comfort. Yeah. I just it's that
- 39:06comfort. You know what to expect, and you can't be disappointed because you
- 39:10already know what disappoints you and what. So it's
- 39:13just either that or I put on something else that I have no interest in
- 39:17and then end up changing it to something that I have, you know,
- 39:21a comfort. That makes sense. That's because if I don't like it, I'm gonna change
- 39:25it right back. Well, it reminded me of the phrase, the enemy, you know, is
- 39:28sometimes just because you know, like, what to expect. So sometimes,
- 39:32having something that you don't love on but you're comfortable with it is better than
- 39:35having something new on that you're not sure even if you
- 39:39objectively might say, oh, I kinda think that technically is a better show.
- 39:43Well, who knows? There's so many things to rate shows, but but you know what
- 39:47I'm saying. Mhmm. Like Yeah. Interesting. K.
- 39:51Melissa, give us your next, like, must have show that you're just
- 39:55passionate about. I guess I would say
- 39:58office and parks and rec, comfort wise. They're just kinda
- 40:02like they're just quirky, weird people that
- 40:06I hate. Everyone's quirky and weird. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 40:10love it. I have to say that I'm probably the odd one
- 40:13out, and I have not watched either of them because something about the
- 40:17filming of it, I can't I can't get into it. The
- 40:20filming. The close ups The documentary style. Weird.
- 40:23Yes. Which is so good. I love documentaries. It it
- 40:27makes it it's so awkward. Well, maybe it's the
- 40:31awkwardness. Right? I think that I think it you're right. I think I've seen,
- 40:35like, 1 like, a couple of episodes, and then I'm like, oh, that's
- 40:38cringy. Like, oh. Feel like that secondhand embarrassment for them
- 40:42sometimes. It's intense, and I, like, I don't wanna feel I don't wanna feel
- 40:45like that. Like, I'm already embarrassed in, like, anywhere. Watching it
- 40:49happen. Yeah. Yeah. I feel that for myself enough.
- 40:53Like, let's not. Okay. I can see that. Yeah. I
- 40:57can see that. That's funny. But, you relate to, like, that kind of
- 41:00quirkiness, and you enjoy
- 41:04Oh, so maybe I should actually I am gonna throw another show with
- 41:07that. It's the IT crowd. So
- 41:11this one is British humor, and
- 41:15it's about these 2 guys. They work in this
- 41:19for this big corporation. They're the IT guys for this conglomerate of a,
- 41:23like, Skyrise type office building, but they're in the
- 41:26basement. And it's really funny just like
- 41:30they're it's another world down there, and it's just them 2, and they're
- 41:34both really weird. I love it. I love it so much.
- 41:38Okay. You have to clarify. It's a whole another world as in, like, literally
- 41:42another world or, like, they're just in their own little world? Their own
- 41:45world down there in the basement is like I don't know how to
- 41:49explain it. Okay. So it's those 2 guys, and then
- 41:53the company decides they need someone down there managing them. So they
- 41:56send down this woman who knows nothing about the IT
- 42:00technical side of things. It's just funny because now she's, like,
- 42:04thrust into their world. Right? So
- 42:07they they it does have stories where they try to go out into the world
- 42:11and, like, date or whatnot, and there's this whole episode where they take
- 42:14out these prostitutes thinking that they Oh. They don't know they're
- 42:18prostitutes. Like, they take them to the park Oh my god. And they're, like,
- 42:22at the amusement park going on rides and stuff together and, like
- 42:26That makes sense. I could see how that would be funny and, like, entertaining. It's
- 42:29funny and cute. And one of my other favorite episodes is they have, like, this
- 42:33underground fight club, but it's an actual spelling bee. What?
- 42:37And so you know, it's so dumb. I know. So Moss goes
- 42:41and he says and so they're, like, all in this parking lot
- 42:45and they're, like, having, like, a throw down, right, with
- 42:48words. And Moss goes, I came here to drink my milk and kick
- 42:52some ass and I just finished my milk. And it's like it's so, like, stuff
- 42:56that's not normal. Okay. This actually sounds enjoyable. Thank you. It's
- 42:59just stupid. And it's kind of reminding me of Big Bang
- 43:03feels. Big Bang Theory? A little bit. Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:07But I would feel like and I think I might only say this
- 43:10because, honestly, now that I think about it, Big Bang would be a really good,
- 43:14like, background show. But I think that my next
- 43:18top three right now is This Is Us. I
- 43:21am watching it. I'm behind on times. I am watching it
- 43:25for the first time right now. And I just know I
- 43:29like I'm I don't commonly watch shows as they come out and
- 43:32people get real intense into them. So right now,
- 43:36it's kind of in the past. And so now I've decided to watch it. And,
- 43:40oh, my god. I just the
- 43:43the the way the story is played out, the way
- 43:47this, like the stories are told and the way they intertwine.
- 43:51Like, it's just I don't know that I've seen a show like that
- 43:55on how it comes together. It's gonna make you want to cry. I actually know.
- 43:58I know people who say it makes them cry every episode. And no, I've not
- 44:01cried. I I got very upset. I mean, I I felt like a
- 44:05little, like, gloomy after Jack dies. But
- 44:08My mom, she would sit there and cry at every episode. So that's where I've
- 44:12been, like No. You know? I think it just depends. I did. I
- 44:16Aw. I did. It doesn't make me cry every episode, but it just makes me
- 44:19go, like, and then, like, man, like, the
- 44:22different perspective, like, you know, as siblings. Like,
- 44:26you're gonna remember a story and a scenario and a situation one way,
- 44:30but your sibling has a different glasses on,
- 44:33basically, of how perspective of that situation. Yeah. What? And what it felt for
- 44:37them, and they remember it differently. And I think that that's a very interesting,
- 44:41thing to show because that is true. It is very true. I get that
- 44:45with my brother all the time. Yeah. And I just I don't
- 44:49know. I love it and the different paths that you end up taking and
- 44:53just the love story of the mom and dad and, you know, the
- 44:56love story that Randall ends up in. And it's just it's just very
- 45:00cozy. And I just really enjoy watching it play out and how it plays
- 45:04out and really enjoying it. And I'm sure that I would end up watching it
- 45:07again. Well, then I'm gonna have to watch that. Mhmm. That's
- 45:10cute. Yeah. For me, part of it is the nostalgia. Like, they literally are
- 45:14born the same year I was born. Oh. Well, no. I think they were born
- 45:17in 79. Either way, I was born in 80.
- 45:20And so watching, like, all of the back flash flashback
- 45:24episode, I'm like, oh my god. And you can see what
- 45:28era you're in as it plays. I I do enjoy that aspect of
- 45:32it too, and it's like because I laugh all the time. Like, Simon
- 45:36is not enjoying the show at all. But, like, you know, if I've had a
- 45:39rough day with the kids, I'm like, tough. I'm gonna watch it because it's gonna
- 45:41soothe me. And I crack up every time it shows,
- 45:45like, the time period of when she's got, like, that blue eye shadow, like, all
- 45:48over her face. I'm like, that is not a good look. God. I remember that.
- 45:52More blue eye shadow all the time, and she might still to this day. I'm
- 45:54not sure. My mom still wears blue eye shadow. Oh, really? I swear to
- 45:58God. That's the only color she will ever wear. It is so funny.
- 46:01But in I think part of it that, like, I find interesting is
- 46:05like so you can tell that they change in each season of their
- 46:09life. And it reminds me of, like,
- 46:12okay, so I've worn my makeup the same way since high school. And
- 46:16then now that I just turned 30, like, literally, I'm like, I feel
- 46:20like I need to, like, redesign myself. Oh, fun. I need to make a change.
- 46:23I probably shouldn't wear my makeup the same way that I wore it in high
- 46:26school. And so I've literally been playing with different, like, makeup setups to see, like,
- 46:29okay, should I wear my eyes like this now? Should I wear my eyes like
- 46:33that? And it's, like, I've been playing around with my makeup. And so it's just
- 46:35really funny at my it wasn't that drastic as it is in the show. But
- 46:39it's, like, to that point, like, where you start seeing a change in my makeup
- 46:43now, in my clothing. Oh, yeah. And then maybe it'll come back around sometime soon.
- 46:46Yeah. You know? It's true. It will. I remember when I was
- 46:50little and my mom would be like, because when
- 46:54I, not I say little, but when I was a teenager and
- 46:57the clothes were what are happening now. And so
- 47:01Mhmm. We wore everything, not just bootcut, but,
- 47:05like, at and loose and big bootcut. Right? Just kinda like it is
- 47:08now. But my mom, I remember her saying Oh, that's right. Yeah. I
- 47:12will I will always wear skinny stones. Like it. But, And I
- 47:16like the baggy stuff too just Yeah. I remember her saying,
- 47:20oh, those are the same pants I wore in high school. And I was like,
- 47:23not really. It's not the same. And No. But it now I'm
- 47:27feeling the same. I'm like, no. It's literally the It's literally
- 47:30the same thing. It's freaking old navy. And I'm like, no. Not the
- 47:34knit spaghetti strap dresses. That is
- 47:38so funny. That's like I want a whole another episode on that because I love
- 47:42the generational changes and how people view them because that is like
- 47:45The kids now are like, oh, it's new. It's like, no. I mean, we had
- 47:49this back in the day. Flare jeans now with the high top and, like, I'm
- 47:53you just know that, like, our, you know, another generation is like,
- 47:56no, that was in when we were there. And now like, the skinny
- 48:00was is like now like, it's interesting. Yeah. I
- 48:03think that's that's a whole great another topic. So
- 48:07what kind of brought this topic on was, I also
- 48:10saw a, an article in The
- 48:14Times about why it is that we have these same episodes that we watch
- 48:18over and over again. And it really just as we were talking about
- 48:22naturally, like, those topics came up. It was, why do we do this?
- 48:25And it's, so because we
- 48:28have, one, feeling like that sense of community
- 48:32and, feeling like you have someone you
- 48:36can relate to. And okay, so one of those reasons was it also
- 48:40can make you feel more restored if you're sitting there scrolling
- 48:43through, your Netflix or your Hulu and your
- 48:47Prime and sometimes all of them because you just can't make a decision
- 48:51because you're exhausted. It's the end of your day. You've already fought all
- 48:54your children. You've already put out all of the work fires, and now it's just
- 48:58your time to flop in bed, flop on the couch, and let me just watch
- 49:02something that just makes me feel whole again and calm.
- 49:06Yeah. In the article, she said something to the effect that we can Yes. We'll
- 49:10link that article in case you wanna see where you align. It's nice to have
- 49:13something familiar. Mhmm. Yes. And what I am struggling
- 49:17with right now is that all the new episodes that are new
- 49:21shows that I try, I find that I get hooked hooked hooked
- 49:24into the show. Maybe lose a little bit of interest, but now I have to
- 49:28know how it ends. Yeah. My example of this is Pretty Little Liars.
- 49:31Like, I got hooked again. I'm late to the show. I just started it, like,
- 49:35a couple of months ago. I'll have to watch that too. I I never did
- 49:38see it. It it really wasn't worth all the time. Right. Because the ending was
- 49:42so awful. Oh, okay. It was very disappointing. And then I'm
- 49:46like, I wasted, like, a month What did you watching the show. Well,
- 49:50spoiler alert for anyone, but, what did you hate about the ending so much?
- 49:54It's so left field. Oh. Like, it completely kind of
- 49:57changes. Like, it doesn't really make sense of
- 50:01how it got there Okay. I guess? Yeah. Or how they got there?
- 50:05It it starts with having to Didn't build to anything. It didn't.
- 50:08No. I don't feel like Okay. I mean Basically, I think that they were
- 50:12trying to keep up with the factor where you cannot guess.
- 50:16Mhmm. Like, you the the like, you have to guess who this
- 50:20person a is that's watching the group, basically. That's destroying
- 50:24their lives and making it very miserable and very hard. So it
- 50:27that's it keeps you locked in of, like, okay. Well, who is this person? Like,
- 50:31let's get to the bottom line. Who is it? Okay. Yeah. But they're also based
- 50:34on books, so the books may be a little better. Oh, that's probably.
- 50:38Honestly. So I haven't read them yet. So I wouldn't know.
- 50:42Yeah. But I would I would assume that books are better than the TV
- 50:46shows. I would hope more detailed because it just literally goes boop boop
- 50:49boop boop. Okay. Like, what happened? Okay.
- 50:53Interesting. You know? Yeah. That's not that's not fulfilling. Right? Okay. So I
- 50:57know that y'all, like, sneaked in a couple of extra TV shows, but I
- 51:01think you can't forget to put in friends. Like, who does
- 51:04not watch friends? Not. I love Friends. Is that not everyone's
- 51:08backup show? So for Friends,
- 51:12it Are you about to say that's not for you? Yeah. It
- 51:15was kind of not really. Kind of. So when it came out,
- 51:19it obviously, it was in the nineties. I was, like, 12 or 13, I
- 51:23think. And, all
- 51:27of my friends watched it, but I wasn't allowed to because it wasn't
- 51:30like, it was probably in inappropriate, apparently.
- 51:34Yeah. Looking back now for sure. Yeah. But I didn't want
- 51:38I didn't so I didn't watch it until I was in my late twenties. And
- 51:41I did get, like, sucked in, but part of me feels like
- 51:45that maybe I got I just wanted to know what everybody else
- 51:49loved so much, and so I watched all of them. And I haven't I
- 51:52don't know. When I go back and watch them now, like you said, different stages
- 51:56of our lives, I go whack and watch them now, and I'm like, I don't
- 51:59know. Things make me cringe. But I could see that.
- 52:02Yeah. I don't know. Something's wrong. So, like, there's a there was a
- 52:06part of my a time in my life when it did fill, I guess, a
- 52:09need because I felt like I was kind of, like, able to get in with
- 52:12everybody else. That one is for sure. Train too. I would
- 52:16watch this too. That is for sure the one that's, like, a sense of community,
- 52:20a sense of being. You feel like they are your friends. Yes. I do. I
- 52:23feel like I'm in the apartment next door. You know what I'm saying? I'm sure
- 52:27that each of you have shows that are your comfort shows and your go
- 52:31to shows. And I'm just curious. Do you are any of the shows
- 52:34that we mentioned the ones that you guys find the comfort in and the ones
- 52:38that you guys find the community in? We're gonna post this on our social
- 52:41medias. Make sure you follow us on Facebook, on Instagram. You'll see
- 52:45some behind the scene photos, some videos, and tell us Yeah.
- 52:49What shows are not on our list that should be. I'd love to know because
- 52:52I, for sure, can share my list Yeah. From the 2 shows I normally watch.
- 52:56Yeah. I feel like this whole thing was a spoiler. But you know what?
- 53:00That's okay. Because I feel like once we get into the show, you're not gonna
- 53:03remember what we said. So You can spoil it. Go watch the shows. Alright,
- 53:06guys. So we had Lola. Lola, thank you so much for joining us today. Having
- 53:10me. I had so much fun. It was so fun. So Lola
- 53:13is gonna be basically our pop in cohost from time
- 53:17to time, because she has so much to add. And,
- 53:21it's just fun to have another perspective, honestly. So and that's that's what
- 53:25we want. So show her some love as well by following
- 53:29her drama free mama's group. Not your mama's mom group.
- 53:32Yes. And that will also be in our links. You can see it there.
- 53:55And let me just say, Lola and I have not met before.
- 53:59Okay. And she just was like, okay. Cool. I'm gonna go over to your house
- 54:02and, yeah. Sure. I'll talk on a podcast with you. I think Look at
- 54:06her. And it was like, honestly, I'm the most awkward person
- 54:10in the world. I will not walk up to someone and start a conversation. Anxiety?
- 54:14So much anxiety. I popped 2 anxiety pills before we hopped on here. I all
- 54:18did. I mean, Lola what? Lola?
- 54:21Lola. Lola just walked into my house, and it felt natural, and it felt
- 54:25normal. And I was like, once we sat down in front of the mic, so
- 54:28I just kinda looked at her and I was like This is it. I feel
- 54:30like, we met before. Like, we've hung out so many times. This is normal. It
- 54:34feels good. Right? Yeah. It does. Yeah. Because you never
- 54:37hardly make friends like that. You have that in con in connection with. It's
- 54:41like, oh. You know, refer to our, you know, last
- 54:44episode. Right. Right. Making friends in your thirties.
