- 1:46Speaker 1: misra journalist, filmmaker, interviewer extraordinaire. And he was on the
- 1:56Speaker 1: show yesterday and he broke down his art form and
- 2:01Speaker 1: specifically writing, and you took away that this element of
- 2:06Speaker 1: humanity is really what resonated in Neilish's work, through his
- 2:11Speaker 1: work in journalism down to the conversations that he has
- 2:15Speaker 1: with artists. Now and today we'll be joined by RMS,
- 2:20Speaker 1: a hip hop artist from here in New Jersey who's

- 32:10Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for us to bring in
- 32:12Speaker 1: my brother RMS to the show. What's up, Rms, Jamie,
- 32:16Speaker 1: my brother doing well?
- 32:17Speaker 6: Man?
- 32:17Speaker 3: How are you good?
- 32:19Speaker 1: Great to have you. This week's conversation centers around the wordsmith,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and I went looking through my brain thinking of the
- 32:28Speaker 1: perfect wordsmith to bring into this conversation, and I was like,
- 32:32Speaker 1: it's got to be our mess. Let's bring him in.
- 32:34Speaker 1: So we we wanted to have this conversation with you,
- 32:38Speaker 1: not only from the perspective of the work that you do,
- 32:40Speaker 1: but just as a general craftsman when it comes to
- 32:43Speaker 1: writing lyrics, putting together the song. Let's talk about this.
- 32:49Speaker 1: My first question to you is what is it that
- 32:52Speaker 1: people don't see in the craft of writing a song
- 32:56Speaker 1: that you think people really need to understand.
- 33:01Speaker 16: I think that one thing that comes to mind is
- 33:04Speaker 16: that there's layers, two levels of complexity that allows people
- 33:10Speaker 16: to then enjoy and.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Rock with a song.
- 33:13Speaker 16: What I mean by that is like, on on level one,
- 33:16Speaker 16: right on the most basic level, when it comes to
- 33:18Speaker 16: rapping and putting together rhymes, we're looking at like rhyme
- 33:21Speaker 16: schemes and complexity of syllables that work together in a
- 33:24Speaker 16: certain way and patterns, right, because that's the cloth of
- 33:29Speaker 16: hip hop that you and I you know, know and love.
- 33:32Speaker 16: But that's what that's at a most fundamental level. I
- 33:36Speaker 16: think that that's something that maybe doesn't register for all
- 33:38Speaker 16: people that that's so important for it to feel like
- 33:41Speaker 16: it sounds good in your ear, you know, So just
- 33:44Speaker 16: rhyme patterns and schemes. And then level two is the
- 33:50Speaker 16: wordplay and the cleverness, right, like, how how interesting can
- 33:54Speaker 16: you say something in a way that packs a certain punch,
- 33:58Speaker 16: right with a setup and a punch there's always some
- 34:00Speaker 16: level of like satisfaction after you hear the intentionality behind
- 34:04Speaker 16: each bar. So these are just like wrap hip hop fundamentals.
- 34:08Speaker 16: But I think that what's amazing when you hear people
- 34:12Speaker 16: who are just an expert at what they do is
- 34:15Speaker 16: it sounds effortless, but it's a product of like years
- 34:17Speaker 16: and years of sharpening your pen and being able to
- 34:19Speaker 16: do that. And then level three, the final level, to me,
- 34:22Speaker 16: is like how good of a storyteller are you?
- 34:25Speaker 2: You know?
- 34:26Speaker 16: And to be able to use these tools to tell
- 34:29Speaker 16: stories and thread the needle of your own life and
- 34:32Speaker 16: have that be an impact, impactful moment for for people
- 34:36Speaker 16: to consume. I think that when you combine these three
- 34:38Speaker 16: levels and to get good all three of these things
- 34:41Speaker 16: takes years and years and years of practice. That's that
- 34:45Speaker 16: to me is like the behind the scenes behind anyone
- 34:47Speaker 16: saw as the products of the decade work you.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Know very well put. I think my next question then
- 34:54Speaker 1: is what's the longest amount of time you've thought about
- 34:58Speaker 1: a song before you ever wrote it?
- 35:02Speaker 16: So speaking of a decade, I think there's one song
- 35:07Speaker 16: that I wrote really recently that I think is from
- 35:11Speaker 16: a story point of view, it really took me a
- 35:14Speaker 16: decade to write because it's a response track to a
- 35:18Speaker 16: song I made ten years ago. And that song I
- 35:22Speaker 16: made I was I was like seventeen at the time,
- 35:25Speaker 16: and it's amazing listening to it now. It's a true
- 35:29Speaker 16: audio journal because it's just me not knowing what the
- 35:32Speaker 16: future holds, and that song, that freestyle was just a
- 35:36Speaker 16: reflection of those fears, like, hey, I'm you know, five
- 35:40Speaker 16: years in the future seems like so far from now.
- 35:43Speaker 16: I wonder, well, I'll be out at twenty three, you know,
- 35:45Speaker 16: worried about money and job and like what am I
- 35:48Speaker 16: doing in school and all these different things. And to
- 35:51Speaker 16: hear those fears at that age is so fascinating. But
- 35:54Speaker 16: even then I had this conviction that like, yo, we're
- 35:56Speaker 16: going to take the music thing all the way and
- 35:58Speaker 16: that's I don't know how, but we're going to get there. Yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 16: And ten years later, to listen to that and to
- 36:05Speaker 16: respond to it is a fascinating thing because it's like, wow,
- 36:09Speaker 16: you know, it's yeah, you needed that time to be
- 36:14Speaker 16: able to reflect on it, to experience so much life
- 36:18Speaker 16: in between, and to be where we're at now, where
- 36:20Speaker 16: we are, you know, voting all of ourselves to music
- 36:25Speaker 16: and to the craft and the passion and the dream
- 36:27Speaker 16: still same condition. And it's interesting to analyze those fears too,
- 36:30Speaker 16: because some of them persist, and then some of them
- 36:33Speaker 16: are completely different and the scale of it is completely different.
- 36:36Speaker 16: Where now I'm like far more concerned and worried about
- 36:40Speaker 16: just being happy, you know, and like taking care of
- 36:42Speaker 16: my parents as they get older, and all these different
- 36:45Speaker 16: things that wasn't even on my mind at that time.
- 36:47Speaker 16: So that reflection process took that long, and you had
- 36:50Speaker 16: to just let it simmer for that period of time.
- 36:54Speaker 1: This is interesting, you're referring to the ten years of
- 36:58Speaker 1: life here. What is time taught you about songwriting?
- 37:03Speaker 27: You know?
- 37:03Speaker 1: Besides the obvious, I think that one can go down
- 37:06Speaker 1: the very easy list of well, Sammy, I have more
- 37:09Speaker 1: experiences to pull from. I think that's very simple to say.
- 37:13Speaker 1: What is beyond that? What is beyond that the time
- 37:16Speaker 1: has taught you about your songwriting?
- 37:21Speaker 16: I think it taught me that complexity is a tool
- 37:26Speaker 16: rather than a you know, a requirement to boucherr ego.
- 37:33Speaker 16: You know, I think that there's value in simplicity when
- 37:36Speaker 16: you're trying to communicate certain things, because effective communication isn't
- 37:40Speaker 16: always the most complicated words or the most complicated communication.
- 37:45Speaker 16: And I think that took some time for me to
- 37:46Speaker 16: learn because me being just such a nerd for words
- 37:50Speaker 16: and rap and like, you know, at a fundamental level
- 37:53Speaker 16: of being obsessed with that. I think it was an
- 37:55Speaker 16: important skill to develop to be able to, you know,
- 37:58Speaker 16: take these insane rhyme patterns and wrap them super fast
- 38:01Speaker 16: and do all these different things. It's like a cool
- 38:04Speaker 16: way to flex your abilities and your skills. But that
- 38:07Speaker 16: is not always a recipe for effective and impactful songwriting,
- 38:12Speaker 16: especially if you graduate from just a rapper to a storyteller.
- 38:17Speaker 25: Right.
- 38:18Speaker 16: And I think as they've gotten older, I've learned how
- 38:21Speaker 16: to kind of use a technical ability to showcase an
- 38:26Speaker 16: emotion rather than use the technical ability to just show
- 38:30Speaker 16: off how well I can wrap, you know what I mean.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yesterday we had Nilish Misra on the show. Who's
- 38:37Speaker 1: a journalist dates back to the mid nineties as being
- 38:41Speaker 1: in front of India and reporting on some of the
- 38:44Speaker 1: most consequential news moments in Indian history at that time.
- 38:49Speaker 1: And I had him on the air here yesterday and
- 38:54Speaker 1: he had this long career in front of the camera
- 38:58Speaker 1: and then an even longer behind the microphone in radio,
- 39:02Speaker 1: and now he's hosting video podcasts. And there was something
- 39:07Speaker 1: that I noticed as soon as he started to talk,
- 39:10Speaker 1: which was how much command he had over his cadence
- 39:14Speaker 1: of how he delivered his sentences. It was remarkable to watch,
- 39:19Speaker 1: especially for me, where I do this daily show like this,
- 39:22Speaker 1: and I hear all kinds of different people and talk
- 39:24Speaker 1: to different people. But as soon as he came on
- 39:27Speaker 1: the air with me, you're like, oh, you felt it
- 39:29Speaker 1: right away. And what really moved me about him was
- 39:33Speaker 1: not what he was saying. Yes, amazing stuff, and our
- 39:37Speaker 1: rader to the highest degree knew his words, all that
- 39:40Speaker 1: stuff that comes with somebody that is so seasoned like him,
- 39:44Speaker 1: but our mess it was the pauses. It was the
- 39:48Speaker 1: space he gave what he was saying that really sold
- 39:52Speaker 1: what he does so well. And as soon as I
- 39:55Speaker 1: got the phone, I was like, oh my goodness, you
- 39:57Speaker 1: know here I am. You know, we do this show.
- 39:59Speaker 1: It's an hour long. Everything moves so fast, And what
- 40:02Speaker 1: Neeleish really taught me was the pause, the space. And
- 40:07Speaker 1: I think that that's same when it comes to songwriting.
- 40:11Speaker 1: There's something about simplicity as well, which I think that
- 40:15Speaker 1: you're clearly articulating here. You know, you do something phenomenal
- 40:20Speaker 1: that I really love, which is you skate between genres
- 40:24Speaker 1: in your vocal delivery. You do it effortlessly. What is
- 40:29Speaker 1: it that hip hop gives you space to do? What
- 40:32Speaker 1: is it that the singing side gives you space to do?
- 40:36Speaker 1: Obviously words being the very simple thing, right and answering that,
- 40:39Speaker 1: but I think that there are places emotionally that you
- 40:41Speaker 1: can go in these two disciplines that are mutually exclusive.
- 40:47Speaker 1: What is that like?
- 40:49Speaker 16: Yeah, man, exactly that exactly that. I think that for
- 40:53Speaker 16: me when it comes to the hip hop and the
- 40:56Speaker 16: rap side of it, I being able to achieve a
- 41:02Speaker 16: lot of depth, you know, like paint a very specific picture,
- 41:06Speaker 16: and when you only have a few words. Of course,
- 41:08Speaker 16: the mark of a good songwriter is to be able
- 41:10Speaker 16: to use a few words to do a lot. So
- 41:12Speaker 16: there's value again in the simplicity. But the nature of
- 41:15Speaker 16: hip hop, especially the nature of hip hop that I
- 41:17Speaker 16: participate in, it gives me words to play with, and
- 41:21Speaker 16: I can really really paint a picture, you know, really
- 41:25Speaker 16: get specific with a setup and an impact, like you're
- 41:28Speaker 16: doing a punchline, but across the story, right, set up
- 41:32Speaker 16: a story a certain way, punch it a certain way.
- 41:35Speaker 16: And I think with a song like like keep Your Cool,
- 41:37Speaker 16: it's a good example of that because we're I'm introducing
- 41:41Speaker 16: this concept of like, Okay, I'm a kid, I'm being
- 41:44Speaker 16: bullied for eating lemon rice, and like, you know, talking
- 41:48Speaker 16: about how that experience shapes how I see culture and
- 41:52Speaker 16: identity growing up in the States. But to be able
- 41:55Speaker 16: to then transfer that at the end of the story
- 41:58Speaker 16: to like, oh, you see concepts about acceptance and cultural
- 42:02Speaker 16: acceptance but also self acceptance still apply as an adult
- 42:07Speaker 16: now kind of extrapolating that to dynamics of the industry
- 42:10Speaker 16: or dynamics of music and as it creative and to
- 42:13Speaker 16: create that kind of that bridge. I think hip hop
- 42:16Speaker 16: is such an effective tool for that. When it comes
- 42:19Speaker 16: to the melodies, I think that it's amazing to be
- 42:25Speaker 16: able to communicate emotion just with sounds, even if there
- 42:30Speaker 16: is no word. You know, like in hip hop, the
- 42:33Speaker 16: words are communicating the emotion. Your delivery is important, but
- 42:36Speaker 16: like there's emphasis on words, whereas with melodies, you're creating
- 42:41Speaker 16: something that you know communicates emotion that way and also
- 42:47Speaker 16: creates just a level of like stickiness and a lot
- 42:49Speaker 16: of times with the way I weave between genres. It's
- 42:52Speaker 16: not because it's hyper calculated. It's honestly just because this
- 42:57Speaker 16: is what I would want to hear, you know, Like
- 43:00Speaker 16: I love catchy hooks and gray bars, and I am
- 43:04Speaker 16: surprised sometimes when my favorite artists who I know can
- 43:07Speaker 16: do both don't do both on the same song, you know.
- 43:11Speaker 16: So that's that's kind of the approach.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Let's talk about keep your Cool. I will point at
- 43:18Speaker 1: it because it to me tells the story of who
- 43:24Speaker 1: you are as an artist. So clearly, sure, let's talk
- 43:27Speaker 1: about the immigrant story. Yeah, that's one way, but I'm
- 43:29Speaker 1: going to take a even a step back and talk
- 43:33Speaker 1: about how visually you take that side very serious. And two,
- 43:40Speaker 1: you have done a remarkable job of marrying what you
- 43:44Speaker 1: do as a words myth, and you've brought the visual
- 43:47Speaker 1: capacity into that as well, and the two play so
- 43:51Speaker 1: well together. And keep your Cool. Here's a music video
- 43:54Speaker 1: of you want to very what looks to be like
- 43:58Speaker 1: New York City in the background and you're sailing away
- 44:00Speaker 1: from it. But it's an interesting story that you tell
- 44:04Speaker 1: as you do that, And there's a reason behind you
- 44:06Speaker 1: picking that visual storytelling doesn't. I think for you just
- 44:11Speaker 1: end at the words. It's going into this new dynamic
- 44:14Speaker 1: and into this new world a visual storytelling, and you've
- 44:19Speaker 1: become so good at it. Explain that journey to us
- 44:22Speaker 1: and how is it that? Where was the moment that
- 44:25Speaker 1: you're like, hey man, the visuals I got to catch
- 44:27Speaker 1: up with the lyrics here?
- 44:30Speaker 16: Definitely? Definitely, yeah, man, visuals are a big, big part
- 44:33Speaker 16: of who I am. So I actually started making short
- 44:38Speaker 16: films just for fine as a kid, even before I
- 44:40Speaker 16: started rapping. So the love for film and photography predated
- 44:46Speaker 16: me rapping, like the Order and Operations was like, I
- 44:48Speaker 16: fell in love with music production. Then I fell in
- 44:52Speaker 16: love with movies and making films, and I was composing
- 44:54Speaker 16: my own soundtracks for those films, and then I fell
- 44:57Speaker 16: in love with hip hop, and I'm merging in there
- 45:00Speaker 16: being all these different, you know, passions of mine, and
- 45:03Speaker 16: in terms of you know, fast forwarding to now, I
- 45:06Speaker 16: think that I do believe in like craft and mastery.
- 45:10Speaker 16: So sometimes there's just seasons of life where you have
- 45:14Speaker 16: to dedicate yourself to one thing and become very very
- 45:16Speaker 16: good at it. And I made sure that that main
- 45:21Speaker 16: central focus for me for a while was just the
- 45:23Speaker 16: music and being a wordsmith. But I always identified as
- 45:27Speaker 16: a filmmaker even before I started, you know, producing and
- 45:32Speaker 16: coming up with visuals and directing visuals that that match
- 45:35Speaker 16: that vision. It's funny, but you can you can predate
- 45:37Speaker 16: it back to like my Instagram bio from like years
- 45:41Speaker 16: and years ago, where I always said like, hey, I
- 45:43Speaker 16: wrap and make films. And it's funny because I'm looking
- 45:46Speaker 16: I can scroll back to my feet and be like,
- 45:48Speaker 16: at that time, there's no evidence of that, you know,
- 45:50Speaker 16: It's just it's just something I knew in my head.
- 45:53Speaker 16: The vision was there, and I was like, Okay, I
- 45:55Speaker 16: trust with the right timing, the right resources, the right
- 45:59Speaker 16: you know, ability and time to dedicate to it, I
- 46:02Speaker 16: can bring that side of things to life. And it's
- 46:05Speaker 16: nice to see time catch up. But as most creatives feel,
- 46:09Speaker 16: you know, your mind is always many years ahead, right,
- 46:12Speaker 16: Your mind is always many years ahead. Reality takes a
- 46:14Speaker 16: little while to catch up. So to see that now,
- 46:18Speaker 16: you know, for other people, to share with other people,
- 46:21Speaker 16: that visual world is amazing because even when I'm writing songs,
- 46:25Speaker 16: I'm imagining visuals. You know, that's incredible.
- 46:29Speaker 1: RMS, we had a lot of fun having this conversation
- 46:33Speaker 1: with you today, for us to hear the story of
- 46:37Speaker 1: what a songwriter does, how they approach a song, for
- 46:42Speaker 1: you to be so open about it. We wanted to
- 46:44Speaker 1: thank you here and for spending time with us here
- 46:46Speaker 1: on the bridge today. While we're here and we're at
- 46:50Speaker 1: this song, we've been talking about it here to our audience.
- 46:53Speaker 1: It only makes sense that we introduce it and get
- 46:55Speaker 1: it going for everybody here. So if you don't mind, brother,
- 46:58Speaker 1: please introduce this song Keep your Cool for everybody.
- 47:02Speaker 16: Definitely, man, No, I appreciate you. Keep your Cool is
- 47:05Speaker 16: a song about rejecting other people's definition of cool. So
- 47:09Speaker 16: typically when you hear the phrase keep you cool, it
- 47:11Speaker 16: means like, oh, keep your calm, but we kind of
- 47:13Speaker 16: flip that phrase and it means like, keep your cool
- 47:16Speaker 16: as in, keep your definition of cool to yourself because
- 47:20Speaker 16: we're good as we are. We accept ourselves and love
- 47:22Speaker 16: ourselves culturally, personally, emotionally, all of that. That's what keep
- 47:27Speaker 16: your Cool stands.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Amazing stuff. Well here's the track RMS, thank you, I
- 47:32Speaker 1: appreciate you.
- 47:34Speaker 27: Never fit in with a coolcase, might a leg goodbyes,
- 47:37Speaker 27: So sheet at the table never been a smoothish. Stop
- 47:41Speaker 27: you chipping overhead with the words I say to you,
- 47:44Speaker 27: Get you a cool cake, get you We won't be
- 47:46Speaker 27: be friends with me?
- 47:48Speaker 3: No, that's too bad. Ain't who be cool?
- 47:51Speaker 11: Could be so damn name?
- 47:52Speaker 3: Hey your cool?
- 47:56Speaker 11: Let me keep that shit from me.
- 47:58Speaker 15: Don't need your cool, I flee, don't need your keep
- 48:02Speaker 15: your cool, I mean keep that ship from me. Don't
- 48:07Speaker 15: need your cup, don't.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Need jo.
- 48:29Speaker 27: Second raise lunchtime. Someone try and pick a fun left
- 48:31Speaker 27: and at my lunch saying that color looking terrify life.
- 48:34Speaker 27: Gave my all my lemons and I should give me lemon, right,
- 48:36Speaker 27: But how can I be sad that you scared of
- 48:37Speaker 27: a little spice?
- 48:38Speaker 11: Yikes, that's chilli ice.
- 48:40Speaker 27: Call they got said about my name like e rosie
- 48:43Speaker 27: double oh no, l on my life since I since
- 48:45Speaker 27: they've been trading letters like tight bo. Now it's trying
- 48:48Speaker 27: to rewrite the wolves a bit. Back then, it was
- 48:51Speaker 27: not the bully in school with it. Now it's the
- 48:52Speaker 27: bonk keeper of the music. That's not the culture telling
- 48:55Speaker 27: me what I should do with it, telling me to
- 48:57Speaker 27: do this that and the third get that shit hurt
- 49:00Speaker 27: being bad word and that being back your words.
- 49:02Speaker 11: Then maybe you'll be cool enough to eat with us.
- 49:04Speaker 7: I'd rather make my own meal than eat scrapsy y.
- 49:10Speaker 16: I've uh been through more than half of you, he said.
- 49:13Speaker 27: It don't matter what they saying, he said, go poost
- 49:16Speaker 27: aw He's gonna, he said, praying, shoot until you make it.
- 49:19Speaker 3: So I keep on doing what I do.
- 49:22Speaker 11: Never been too cool to go for drinks.
- 49:24Speaker 27: I ain't even trying to look at you, But now
- 49:26Speaker 27: he's wanna be cool.
- 49:27Speaker 11: Kids wanna be me?
- 49:29Speaker 27: Never fit in with her cool kids might have laughing
- 49:31Speaker 27: my half for a sheet at the tables. Never been
- 49:34Speaker 27: as smooth.
- 49:34Speaker 11: Agg stop be tripping over.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Half for the words I say to you. Get you
- 49:39Speaker 3: a cool cad because you ain't wanna be She ain't
- 49:41Speaker 3: bee friends with me. You know that's too bad.
- 49:44Speaker 27: I ain't e who know being cool could be so
- 49:46Speaker 27: damn name her. Keep your cool, I mean, keep that
- 49:51Speaker 27: shit from me.
- 49:52Speaker 15: Don't need y'all poor, I freeze dog.
- 49:54Speaker 11: Don't need y'all cool.
- 49:56Speaker 15: Keep your cool, I mean keep from me. No doni
- 50:02Speaker 15: jola doni.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Jo big shout out to RMS. I've been watching rms's
- 50:20Speaker 1: story here for I would say since the beginning, incredibly
- 50:25Speaker 1: proud of the achievements that he has made and the
- 50:28Speaker 1: progress and he was a great guest today, so big
- 50:31Speaker 1: shout out to him. Here's doaa.
- 50:34Speaker 13: Thanks Sammy, here every want. This is your Rukasavna radio
- 50:38Speaker 13: music correspondent back with some fun facts about your favorite artists.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Today.

- 50:44Speaker 13: Punjabi music right now, shub Born in India, based in Canada,
- 50:48Speaker 13: Ship has been making waves globally with his unique sound
- 50:51Speaker 13: and killer tracks. He first caught her attention with this
- 50:54Speaker 13: breakout single we Rolling, which wrapped up over one twenty
- 50:56Speaker 13: five million views on YouTube talk about the debut. Since then,
- 51:00Speaker 13: he's kept the hits coming with sun favorites like Elevated
- 51:03Speaker 13: and Nola's and now he's taking things to a whole
- 51:06Speaker 13: new level with the second studio album, Cikario, featuring ten
- 51:09Speaker 13: incredible tracks. This album proves why Shup is one of
- 51:12Speaker 13: the most exciting artists in the game right now. Well
- 51:15Speaker 13: that's all for me, now back to you, Sammy.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Duta. I'm gonna flip the script
- 51:21Speaker 1: here instead of playing something from the Sicario album, I'm
- 51:26Speaker 1: gonna play something from the Chapter four album and I'll
- 51:30Speaker 1: be back here before the end of the show to
- 51:32Speaker 1: share my closing remarks on this episode. This song is
- 51:37Speaker 1: called Bounce.
- 51:37Speaker 28: That's by Shobypa like God dampening a bag you Poka

- 52:26Speaker 11: Lesa, Harry Me and a Mania.
- 52:43Speaker 29: Shot Balabala actually jak in a tall table.
- 52:51Speaker 11: Now, no hold dark way, no cartods.

- 56:27Speaker 30: hosted by Sammy Juhn on Ruckus Avenue Radio.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Shout out to.
- 56:32Speaker 1: And shout out to Mickey sing. The song is called
- 56:34Speaker 1: Jadu a shout out to RMS. Let me tell you
- 56:39Speaker 1: guys what you heard today. What strikes me about RMS
- 56:43Speaker 1: is his honesty. He's a wordsmith, but listen to him
- 56:47Speaker 1: talk about songwriting and you realize he thinks like a builder.
- 56:52Speaker 1: The hip hop writing, the song, chorus, the production, the
- 56:56Speaker 1: video that comes after it. To him, those were never
- 57:00Speaker 1: separate steps, their ingredients. Each one carries its own weight,
- 57:07Speaker 1: and he understands that every one of them already lives
- 57:10Speaker 1: inside of him. Here's the part I keep coming back
- 57:14Speaker 1: to when it comes to RMS. RMS figured out that
- 57:17Speaker 1: a Lamborghini doesn't have to hit four hundred to prove
- 57:21Speaker 1: it's a Lamborghini. A quick rev and then a slow
- 57:24Speaker 1: roll at ten miles an hour so that everyone can
- 57:27Speaker 1: actually see you go by. He learned that about his words.
- 57:32Speaker 1: He learned to pull back to let you catch every
- 57:36Speaker 1: single one of his words. And then he found another
- 57:39Speaker 1: gear entirely a singing layer that reveals a deeper part
- 57:44Speaker 1: of who he is, the part that only his voice
- 57:47Speaker 1: could say out loud. And that's not an accident. That's
- 57:50Speaker 1: a man who respects his art form. RMS has integrity.
- 57:55Speaker 1: He honors the music the right way by handing you
- 57:58Speaker 1: a complete, can considered piece of work, not just bars.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Meanings behind every one of them. He's paying homage to
- 58:08Speaker 1: the craft. And let me tell you something, the music
- 58:11Speaker 1: gods notice when you do it right. He's got the words.
- 58:15Speaker 1: He's always had the words. He just cares too much
- 58:19Speaker 1: to let them leave his mouth without weight. So do
- 58:23Speaker 1: yourself a favor. When r MASS speaks, listen to what
- 58:27Speaker 1: he's actually saying, because his time is coming. And you
- 58:31Speaker 1: heard it here on the bridge. This song is called
- 58:34Speaker 1: very very It's by d have a great day, everybody,
- 58:38Speaker 1: I see tomorrow.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Under the put In song, you gayda very are the.
- 59:20Speaker 31: Very very very very very very very very very very
- 59:26Speaker 31: very very very very very very bare very very very
- 59:33Speaker 31: very very very far really.
- 59:39Speaker 3: Hard. Yeah I mean us save it.
- 59:48Speaker 31: By Golla, I want to kill me
